Halal restaurant
Dim sum restaurant
Greentown Dimsum Café is a cozy and inviting restaurant located in the heart of Ipoh, offering a wide variety of delicious and authentic halal dim sum dishes. From steamed dumplings to fried wontons and bao buns, the menu has something for everyone. The ingredients used are carefully selected and certified halal, making it a great option for Muslim patrons.
dim sums were SOOOO good, best halal dim sum. I enjoyed the golden fish dim sums the most because surprisingly they taste better than the shrimps, but each to their own! Cheong fun was so2, loved the dumplings and dim sum more, restaurant was somewhat spacious, but we went at a non hectic time so crowd was okay. Serving time is decent and cashier was friendly, although had to wait for food for quite some time but the dim sums came in a bunch instead of one by one so it was satisfactory. Restaurant was clean too, would love to come again!

I went for Dim Sum today at GreenTown Dim Sum in Ipoh, and it was a really great experience! What makes this place special is that it’s pork-free, so it’s perfect for halal eaters or anyone who avoids pork, including many Indian diners. They offer a wide variety of tasty options made with chicken and prawns, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. If you’re in Ipoh and craving Dim Sum, I definitely recommend checking this place out!
Sempurna P — Google review
The food at this restaurant is really good and worth trying, but I think they need to take better care of the place. The aircon is quite weak, which makes it uncomfortable at times. Service should be faster, and the staff need more training to be better organized. They should also serve all plates at the same time instead of one by one, to give a better dining experience. With some improvements, this place could be excellent.
Yahia — Google review
Finally made it to one of the first halal chinese owned dimsum houses in Ipoh. Not sure how it was when it first opened, but now although they do serve acceptable dimsum and dishes, it is just managing a passable rating with hits and misses. The fillings are sometimes delicious but then let down by the skin, as exampled by the siew mai that had its snow skin broken. I think this can be summarised by the ‘lokek’ in the ingredients, whereby if they do not stinge the food would be over the top. Imagine chinese noodles without any seafood, even a couple of shrimps would have sufficed, and you would get my meaning . Overall, a good place for someone who just started to try out halal chinese yum cha, but for those with an already developed taste would be better to look elsewhere in town. I keep saying my chinese boys in Ipoh would be complaining loudly if they dined here during the meal.
Mumuchi I — Google review
One of the best halal dim sum spots in Ipoh. The food is tasty, served hot, and very affordable. Nice place to chill and eat with friends. Highly recommended.
Mфб — Google review
Went to the restaurant around afternoon on Saturday. Not too crowded. We were seating outside at first but the staff quickly suggested a table inside when they saw our baby in stroller. Food: 10/10 We ordered some dim sums, stir fried radish, & cantonese noodle. The dim sums were big compared to other dim sum that i had before and the fillings were really delicious! All other foods were also in big portions. Price: Affordable Personally i think the price was quite cheap compared to other dim sum places. We ordered a lot but the price came at less than rm100. Overall, it was a really great experience dining here! We most likely will come again when we visit ipoh or maybe we will come just to dine here!

Just 1 word. Superb - Greentown Dimsum Café offers a superb halal dim sum experience, earning high praise for its diverse and authentic menu. Patrons rave about the tasty food, with unique fillings and must-try dishes like the Sweet Soy Chili Mee. The atmosphere is celebrated for being spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, while the service is consistently noted as fast and friendly. A perfect spot for a delicious and comfortable meal.

Food is Ok. Ambience is out. A bit too dark. Families with young or sensitive children should perhaps avoid because they allow people to smoke inside the restaurant

Nestled in the vibrant Greentown area of Ipoh, ASSAM HOUSE is a culinary gem that showcases an impressive selection of Asian cuisines, including Baba Nyonya, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian dishes. This beloved restaurant has earned accolades for its cleanliness and is renowned for its signature offerings like the delectable Curry Assam fish head and the Nyonya lucky platter.
This is our first time dining here. Found good review on Google and decided to give it a shot. We love every aspects of this restaurant from its flavourful food, attentive and friendly service and cozy ambience. Will definitely return when we’re back in Ipoh!
Adyla R — Google review
Tried Assam House Ipoh for dinner. Honestly, the food was just okay. I had high expectations for their curry assam fish, but it turned out pretty average. Some of the other dishes were decent, but overall the taste didn’t really stand out. The restaurant itself is comfortable with plenty of space, and service was fine. I’m not too sure what the concept is here. It feels like a mix between Thai and Nyonya. Still, it’s not a bad spot for a casual meal, just not as impressive as I expected.

Konda Kondi Cafe & Bistro, located in Malaysia, offers a chic and quirky dining experience. The cafe features a sidewalk patio area for enjoying meals amidst lively surroundings and an upstairs dining area for a quieter ambiance. The menu includes cold apple mint drinks with the perfect blend of pulp and mint. Known for its bustling social atmosphere, the cafe is popular among food enthusiasts.
The place was easy to find as it way located literally at the heart of Ipoh town. Parking is a bit further away, so you’ll need to walk a little and cross the road, but it’s not too bad since the area is close to a lively night market. Food was delicious! Prices are a little on the higher side, but definitely worth it for the taste and huge portions. My family loved the place. Staff were really friendly, atmosphere was chill and relaxed, and the interior design was nice and cozy

1) All food great taste and fast. 2) There is surau for Muslim and good condition with fan. Just improve the top step to Surau . Big opening , need to cover up to avoid slip and fall. 3) Toilet upstair is clean. 4) Aircond room only after 5pm. Now is hot weather, allowed at anytime. 5) Less smile from waiter/waitress, smile is contagious...

Kinda love the food especially the chicken chop. Grilled chicken is so-so. Both these chicken meal got sausage, really not a fan. Should substitute the sausage with something else like more salad or grilled veggies. Beef slice spicy pasta was good but you can count the quantity of the sliced beef - very small & little. But pasta was good!
Sakinah H — Google review
Konda Kondi Cafe in Ipoh totally surprised me. Their nachos are next level. Crispy chips loaded with juicy beef, melty cheese, and that creamy sauce that pulls everything together. It’s the kind of comfort food that makes you pause mid-bite and go “okay, this slaps.” The place has chill vibes, friendly staff, and plating that’s lowkey aesthetic. It would be even better if the menu came with descriptions which would help a lot when deciding. Best nachos in Ipoh, no debate.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Konda Kondi Cafe in Ipoh. The food was absolutely delicious – full of rich, flavorful spices and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, making it great value for money. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a tasty and satisfying meal in a cozy atmosphere!

Mee Daud Mat Jasak is a renowned restaurant in Ipoh, known for its delicious mee kicap and kari laksa. Despite the traffic jam in Ipoh, visitors are willing to make the journey to savor the well-known dishes. The restaurant stands out as one of the few places serving excellent mee kicap with yong tau foo and succulent fishballs in coconut curry gravy.
Was informed by the owner Asyraf that this is the kedai original mee daud mat jasak. Kedai2 lain is not the original. Food was amazing. I loveeeee the mee kicap. Mee kari is also good. To improve megi grg je. Well served by the owner himself. Overall Alhamdulillah. Come to this shop 👍

Went here on 27/2/25 Good and affordable place to hang out. However, we felt a bit uncomfortable upon arrival—not sure if it was staff or not. Service was minimal, but that’s expected for a roadside stall. Overall, it was okay. The cashier was friendly and helpful with menu recommendations.

Only able to capture mee kari special.... stomach was hungry.....good taste of mee kari special if going to ipoh definitely will taste again their mee kari special..... The service is fast as mamak....have range of food from mee kari to goreng2...also have mee kicap.. The price is reasonable and the portion ok....the stall vibe is as same as 7 years back...

Alright, fellow foodies! If you're ever in Ipoh and craving some seriously good Mee Kicap Melayu, you absolutely have to check out Mee Daud Mat Jasak. My mom and I went, and let me tell you, we were NOT disappointed! The Mee Kicap here? Spot on. It's got that perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet, with bouncy noodles that hit just right. My mom, who's a tough critic when it comes to traditional dishes, gave it her full seal of approval, which means it's legit! It's definitely become one of our go-to places for Mee Kicap, and we'll be back for more. If you want a comforting, authentic plate of Mee Kicap that even your mom would love, this is the place! Don't miss it! 👍
Hafiz H — Google review
We heard this restaurant is really famous in Ipoh, so we came. Parking wise, you have to park a little far away.Small shop with limited seatings. If you come on weekends or public holidays, I suspect hahh you will have to queue to order and makan. We came during weekday, the shop had just opened so there was no problem ordering. The foods were ok, mi kicap was bit salty. We ordered yong taufu (it was sedap)mi kari kerang, mee wantan special and mi kicap.
Cici P — Google review
I gave one star because I didn't like the attitude of the staff. I waited 45 minutes for the food to be served. So I asked the staff what took them so long to serve the food while it was just mee kicap and yong tau foo. The staff answered sheepishly 'banyak order. satu orang order 5-6'. I probe further and he said, 'abang pergi lah tengok sendiri kat tempat sedia makanan tu'. No doubt there were many people at the shop, but from my observation it was because everyone was waiting for the food and the kitchen kept tapau food for grab or food panda and leaving behind the customer at shop. Had they have proper order system and kitchen preparation the problem could be quickly fixed. So, if you have impatient personality, it would be better for you to find some other place to eat. On the quality of the food, the mee kicap was average. The mee kicap was served together with some kuah kari. The Yong tau foo sauce was quite good.

Restoran Fuziah Nasi Ayam Pasar Bulat is a renowned halal restaurant in Ipoh that has been serving its signature Hainan chicken rice for over 30 years. The compact setting adds to the charm of this small eatery, where patrons can savor the crispy roasted chicken topped with soy sauce and chilies. Additionally, they offer a variety of Malay dishes, making it a strategic dining spot in the area.
Legendry chicken Rice recipe. Taste like heaven..
Ymax H — Google review
I love chicken rice and am very much a Chicken Rice enthusiast but I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat here. Plate of chicken rice was RM9, extra rice RM4. The chicken rice was not good, below average. Rice and soup was very distasteful, luckily chicken was good. The biggest redflag was the cleanliness. My table was beside stacks of dirty plate and food waste. Stacks of dirty plate and heaps of food waste also literally in middle of restaurant and right next to the clean plates and food area. Table, floor and wall also dirty, took a peek at the kitchen behind and it looked like a workshop. The guy cutting the chicken didn't wear a sanitary head cap, his hair might fall into the chicken. The rice cooker pot wasn't close and exposed to air. Staff were so disorganised and looked like they didn't wanna be there, not attentive and not friendly. Finished my food quickly so I could leave asap, restaurant was so sad, need renovation, so gloomy. How la Muslim do business like this, as Muslim also am ashamed.
Daus — Google review
Nasi ayam taste good, crispy chicken, quick serve. Soft rice. Only fried chicken rice available, no option for other.
Wal — Google review
One of legendaries for halal chicken rice in Ipoh. But we personally feel that the chicken size is getting smaller…. Hm. But taste is okay. My friend who ordered porridge said it tasted a bit plain. Overall, just okay. Chicken rice only is RM9 - without drinks.
Lailer C — Google review
This place came in as among the best food in Ipoh in some website. Not so sure why they emphasized the "halal" there, is hard to get halal nasi ayam in Ipoh? I'm from klang valley and as a person who like to eat nasi ayam especially hainan style, the taste is definitely below average compared to some nasi ayam in KL with a much cheaper price. The rice is tasteless and overcooked until its "kembang". The chicken is dry and a bit hard. The soup taste overloaded with ginger. The soy souce is so so. Its quite disappointing and it doesn't make sense this restaurant end up in some food review sites. If you are coming from KL and know the taste of nasi ayam chee meng or nasi ayam hailam, this is far from that. The star given only because the service was fast (maybe no other customer at the time i arrived) and also because of easy parking in front of the shop.
Ikhwan A — Google review
It appear in suggested food in Ipoh for 2022 in website. But sorry to say this is not the best chicken rice. The chicken is dry, rice is dry, and soup is tasteless. Cannot represent for Ipoh Perak state. Chicken is significant every state in Malaysia, like Malacca you will find rice ball chicken rice. In Klang Valley you can find crispy chicken rice. Ipoh is famously hainanese chicken rice and its bean sprouts. Why is recommended food in Ipoh???
Ming N — Google review
This is my childhood restaurant, my go-to restaurant. But today i am a bit dissapointed of the service i had and the ayam. The chicken of mine a bit small like half of the usual serving. And the service have a lot things to improved such as greet the customers and please smile often!

Restoran M. Salim in Ipoh is a beloved dining destination that showcases the rich tapestry of Indian and Malaysian cuisine, particularly focusing on South Indian halal dishes. With two convenient locations, this restaurant has become synonymous with mouthwatering specialties like Nasi Biryani Anarkali and Nasi Kandar, both prepared using aromatic basmati rice infused with traditional spices and served alongside robust curries.
This was a fantastic southern indian meal. The flavours of each dish was perfectly brought out and was very memorable. Mohamed was so attentive and good at making recommendations. Definitely a must-eat here in Ipoh.

Cozy place with big bougainvillae tree, very nice Food : ordered nasi beriyani with fish curry head, sotong, ayam bawang and sayur Taste delicious nasi beriyani, buttery with minimal garam masala's spices, fish curry has spiciness to it, fish head was fresh Sotong a lil bit liat, usual mamak taste Ayam bawang was moist and flavourful, SEDAP LOVE IT!

I had lunch here with my family, but to be honest, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. Personally, I feel the nasi kandar I’ve had in Penang is much better .The kuah campur here was quite watery compared to what I’m used to. Maybe it just didn’t suit my taste. The service wasn’t great either. What confused me most was that almost all the tables were marked as reserved, yet no one showed up for hours, and the names on the reserved signs seemed more like jokes. Overall, it just wasn’t a pleasant experience for me.
Nurul F — Google review
Just suka suka trying another Salim outlet but maybe my tastebud prefer the other outlet near Yong Suan more. But still good comforting food 😇 After all very clean restaurant, orders also very quick and workers are friendly too. Maybe too small so if come with larger pax may need to reserve table.

There are a few Nasi Kanda in Ipoh. This is probably one of the good one. This is not my first choice actually. But, there isn’t much queue during lunch time, so I will just go for it. Ordered mutton, fried fish, cuttle fish fried chicken and papa. Mutton is tender, fried chicken & fish not too dry, cuttlefish is good. Well flavoured curry complete the meals! $28 with a drink, consider average?

Food ie. Fish Curry exquisite. A bit sad that the fish was only half of a fish head . Price of food was considered a bit expensive as it is only half a fish head but it was ok. It was kepala ikan kerapu. Service was good too. Used plates were taken away as soon as we finished using them. Ambience was fine, calming and surrounded by greenery of plants. Nasi Ganja Ipoh, also known as Nasi Kandar ayam Merah, is a must-try dish in Ipoh due to its addictive flavors. This Malay and Indian fusion dish features rice, spiced fried chicken, and a coconut sambal that perfectly complements the meal. Despite its name, there are no illegal substances in this dish; it's simply named for its addictive taste.
The best eatery in Ipoh period!! Nothing will ever beat this one. Tip: Eat like the locals- share a table with others if you’re only 2-3 pax.
Asyikin — Google review
Sunday 12pm Parking was not easy. You have to drive and park at the end of the block. It was easy to get a table within Yong Suan and the order was promptly noted by the staff. Food was served relatively fast because they have a system in place to cope with high volume dine in and takeaway customers. They now occupy the side late with canopy for customers to dine in. So there is adequate seating. Coffee shop drinks also take order very fast and serve fast. Too bad the price is inflated and the coffee sucks big time. Nasi Ganja is good because of the gravy and condiments. Unfortunately the chicken of fried till it is too dry. Chicken is also undersized!! Payment after the meal was seamless. Just present the slip of paper that the waiter slips onto your table while you are eating. They accept both cash and QR code payments. Slight deterioration in the food probably due to the high volume. They have to maintain good standards or customers will slowly find better alternatives.

Kena dengan selera.. Came to try the famous nasi ganja as everyone seems to recommend it. It was a corner shoplot on a busy street, and was full of people wanting to try the delicious food. But service was quick, and the price was reasonable. And the food was so, so good! And the portions were HUGE!
Zul S — Google review
Tried the famous Nasi Ganja in Ipoh, but overall, the experience was quite average. The mutton we received was mostly bones with very little meat. When we mentioned it to the staff, they casually said, “It’s like that.” Thankfully, a kind Chinese uncle at the cashier noticed and asked, “You kasi semua tulang, macam mana mau makan?”—which really spoke for us! Eventually, the server did give us an additional piece of mutton, which we appreciated. Taste : NORMAL The fried chicken was quite hard and not very enjoyable. The squid was okay, probably the best among the dishes we tried. The fish egg, unfortunately, wasn’t nice. The rice and curry were OK, and the place was busy, but overall, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. Worth trying once for the experience, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it again.
YippieYaYa — Google review
I did a take away and ate in the comfort of my office and here is my conclusion. AVERAGE. I may try again eating on site to confirm this but the only thing I was impressed with was the lime juice. The best lime juice anywhere in the world! I found the fried chicken curry boring and the use of breast meat made it hard and tasteless. The rest of the curries all tasted the same and I tired to use the papadum to add crunchy but it was just a monotanous pile of curry with rice. The prawn and the beef curry did not inspire. I guess people love this place for its history and nostalgia and my good friend In Ipoh ate this from childhood.
Jeremy C — Google review
True to its name (Ganja translates to something "addictive" or "dope"), this place lives up to the hype! Nasi Ayam Ganja is seriously addictive and I really recommend it. Be prepared for the queue; the line is quite long, but it moves fast. It's common to share a table with strangers, which is part of the fun and atmosphere! The prices are very affordable, and the portion size is huge (banyak banget). You definitely get great value for your money here. It's Halal and you can request the non-spicy version if you prefer.
Diaz M — Google review
I love their nasi ganja! As someone who tried nasi ganja for the first time, I fell in love first taste ❤️ Price wise with that taste, very cheap! The restaurant can be quite crowded, but depending on your luck, the waiting queue wasn't that bad. On the day I went there, it took us only 5 mins to get a table, however still, I recommend to come during non-peak hour. Most importantly, don't forget to bring a fan with you because it is quite hot. Also, parking can be quite tricky.
Rozlianah J — Google review
Something must be wrong with my taste bud. The food tasted average. The chicken was tough. The rice texture was strange. The curries were bland. The iced coffee was meh.

Restoran Hj Sharin Low Grand in Ipoh is a beloved spot among locals and visitors alike, renowned for its diverse selection of seafood and authentic home-style Asian and Chinese Halal cuisine. This Chinese Muslim restaurant offers an extensive menu that features Southern Chinese dishes such as Nasi Goreng Cina, Char Siew chicken, Belacan chicken, Tofu mushrooms, steamed fish, and their signature prawns.
Had a wonderful dinner at Restoran Hj Sharin Low Grand Ipoh serving Authentic flavours of Chinese dishes in a Chinese Muslim Restaurant.👏 🥰😋Flavourful dishes with reasonable portions for family dinner. Butter Prawn, Asam Fried Grouper, Marmite Chicken  ,Yong Chow Fried Rice, Four Kingdom Belacan and Sizzling Tofu. Friendly service and welcoming place with nice and clean atmosphere to dine in.

My fav for now is salted egg squid, will come again to try other dishes. We buy 4 dishes, this 4 for 3 healthy adult is enough to make us too full to move. The price is a bit high but proportional to its amount and taste. I only take 1 photo, i love mapo tofu but its not that spicy for me. Feels like going to a high class restaurant from the waiter's attentive service 🤭
Shiryuu S — Google review
The food and atmosphere are cosy and aromatic for some fried dishes slightly oily. Overall price wise of RM315 for 7 dishes and 2 jugs of fresh juices for 11 pax consider reasonable with the choices of meat we are ordered. The only thing I find it hard to call up the restaurant number but they already apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Elise H — Google review
Spacious restaurant, could accommodate large groups of food. Food is fine, just the prawn is too overcooked. Salted egg french beans was really tasty and beef kamheong as well. Not to forget mongolian chicken. Would recommend these 3 dishes.
Hanida K — Google review
The waiters were very cheerful and helpful, left a lasting impression on me. They helped us change a dish at no charge and happily without any complaints when the dish was not what we ordered. The crab meat soup was absolutely delicous, with meat in each spoon that we drank. Wat tan hor fun is super good too. Salted egg prawn could have more gravy, was a little on the dry side Roast duck was slightly dry but the sauce was 10/10. Didnt quite like the dry lamb curry (personal preference). Sin chew mee hun was okay Visited in Aug 2023 twice in a week. Overall great taste halal restaurant that is pretty authentic to chinese taste. The indoor seating has a slight odour.

I have seen a number of these Chinese Muslim Restaurants around but never quite get to go to check them out and this Hj Sharin Low Grand in Ipoh was the first because was with some Muslim friends. Quite to my surprise the food is pretty good and they are pretty much those usual food you find in Chinese restaurants but these are Halal. We had Steamed Fish in Nyonya Sauce - amazing, their Roasted Duck - taste is good but a tad too dry, their Butter Prawn was fresh and nice, their tofu was good. We went slightly off hours so the service was good, food was fast to serve. Overall, am happy with what I get here - price is reasonable, food is delicious, service is good.

HJ SHARIN LOW, the famous halal restaurant food chain has long been known as the established brand for serving Malaysian halal and authentic Chinese cuisine . With an extensive menu of Chinese dishes like Lak Chi Crab, Marmite Chicken, Sizzling Tofu, Butter Prawns, Steam Fish in different styles of cooking, placing an order can be a headache. You won’t go wrong to stick to the chef’s recommendation

Had a rather large lunch here, the deep fried fish with special sauce was very good, the small portion is actually large. Very clean and tidy place as well. The staff could be more responsive as they were just standing in the back instead of welcoming and directing guests to the table. Overall it was a good joint, worthy or revisit.

During my recent visit to FM Tomyam House, I indulged in a delightful array of dishes including the standout tom yam campur, creamy ayam buttermilk, and flavorful kailan ikan masin. The restaurant's location is easily accessible from the main road and offers ample parking space, making it convenient for diners. The seafood was fresh and generously portioned, ensuring that every bite was packed with flavor. Even during iftar when the food wasn't piping hot, everything remained delicious.
I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and ordered tom yam campur, ayam buttermilk, telur dadar, kailan ikan masin, and colek. The food was delicious, with the tom yam campur standing out for its rich flavors and the ayam buttermilk being perfectly creamy and flavorful. The restaurant also offers plenty of parking spaces, which is a big plus. Its location near the main road makes it convenient to find, and the service was impressively fast, including for food delivery. Overall, a great spot for a satisfying meal with excellent convenience. Would definitely recommend it!

A Fantastic Tomyam Experience at FM Tomyam! My family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at FM Tomyam and we were absolutely thrilled with our entire experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptionally fast and friendly. The waiter and waitress were incredibly familial and made us feel right at home. Beyond the outstanding service, the food quality was truly awesome, especially considering the cheap prices. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The lemak bakar was rich and aromatic, while the tomyam campur delivered that authentic, spicy kick we crave. The sup ekor was hearty and comforting, and the salted egg kerang bakar was a delightful surprise with its unique savory taste. And let's not forget the drinks! The kelapa lemon was a revelation – incredibly refreshing and the perfect accompaniment to our meal. Thank you, FM Tomyam, for providing us with the best tomyam experience. We left feeling completely satisfied and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Lamb chop 1/10, fish and chip 5/10, creamy butter chicken 7/10. The worst is lamb chop because it's very dry and not delicious at all. The creamy butter chicken is okay but too sweet for me. I am very disappointed with all the food however the service and environment are the best.

Dropped by Pak Cik Wong for lunch around 12:30pm. The place wasn’t too crowded at that time, which was nice, and my food was served pretty quickly. Taste-wise, it was alright nothing to shout about, just your standard meal. What stood out (in a not-so-great way) was the floor staff. They seemed more focused on chatting among themselves in one corner rather than attending to customers. Prices were reasonable, though. Just a heads-up: parking might be a bit of a hassle during office hours. Overall, a decent spot if you’re nearby and need a quick bite, but don’t expect anything too impressive.

Tried this place recently but honestly, the food was quite disappointing. The dishes were dry and lacked flavor. We ordered the salted egg chicken, shredded chili chicken, and sizzling tofu but none of them really stood out. The chicken dishes especially were too dry, making it hard to enjoy. Overall, not a satisfying meal.

This restaurant offer quite variety of 'ala kampung' dishes. There're also grilled fish. We took grilled cat fish and Patin with tempoyak sauce. Daeng D — Google review
There's no denying that the varieties of dishes served here are aplenty. Unfortunately, the wow factor, that comes from the taste is somewhat lacking. All the dishes served here from the curries, assam pedas, even masak lemak cili api are in the sweet range with an overload of sugar . A touch of sugar to raise the umami flavour would be just great, but when everything is sweeter than sweet, that's where it loses out in flavour. Would not be visiting this place as it just doesn't meet my taste.

Decided to stop over for a quick meal on the 1st day of CNY. So I tried their signature dish, the Mee Rebus. It's tasty but first thing that hits you, it's sweet. It's like a combination of Java Mee mixed with Pasembur sauce. And there's hint of prawn stock. The gravy is textured and not entirely smooth. It has bean sprouts, tofu, potatoes, cucur udang and egg. Overall its tasty but it could be even better if the sweetness toned down. Then I also tried the Nasi Chicken Chop. Honestly, it's ok only but the let down is the chicken. It was over cooked, dry and tough. As if it went for a sun bath and overslept. Sauce is interesting, cannot identify whether its brown or mushroom. Closer to brown I guess. Its ok. Should add a telur mata. Overall, can be better. Overall its good for its local cuisine and worthy joint for makan and drinks in the outskirts of Ipoh.

The price? RM 48 for two pax (kami makan banyak). So worth it. Will come again! Price- 100/10 Cleanliness - 10/10 Selesa? Yes, open air but tak panas. Rasa? Sedap ikut tekak sy. The owner-Zul Yahya is very friendly, the customer service from also good. Only the food service is a bit slow however explained by Zul it is due to shortage of staff and he already apologised for it. The food taste is 4/5 only the bawal fish is overcooked, very dry. So far may be next time can come again for the steamboat.

Reasonable pricing of RM32 per person for adult. Food selection was abit less but it was super fresh. Definitely, I love the steamboat package where I can get the variety of steamboat things, fried rice, noodle, pasta, nasi lemak, ice cream and a lot of drinks' choices. But, Nasi Bajet (Daging Masak Hitam) really delicious and tasty. Value for money. (See picture). Deserved 5 star for taste, price and portion. Customer service need to be improved. Coming here because got the latest viral sensations from Viral Perak FB page. Set up a booking for 2 people. Coming down here because we are a big fan of Shellout meal and today is my mother's birthday. I ordered a Shellout meal for 2 and a Sotong Bakar and to our disappointment all of the seafood that we got are old and smelly plus they didn't cook our food right and we can and might get food poisoning. When they take it back, we thought they are going to change it but no, they just heat it up and we are not okay with it. So to let you guys know about our experience here is some of my post and photo for you to judge.

Bihun tomyam not taste tomyam at all because they put some chilli you know that chilli you blender to masak cabai nasi lemak tu? OMG. sucks. Then come asam pedas pari me & my husband sharing. At first he tried, seriously I didn't get what he meant with "pelik la rasa dia". When I try, wahhh that taste ah you can't even swallow. Dah lah tak ada rasa asam pedas langsung kuah dia. Rasa dia pelik because of that claypot hangit ! Macam tak basuh bersih pun ada. When complaint, didn't get any apologize at all. Such a terrible restaurant I'd ever come.

Probably the worst pari asam pedas that I ever tasted. The pari is obviously an old stock that the meat color has change dark and it taste like fridge. Asam pedas does not taste like asam pedas, it sweet but it did has that masam and pedas taste lmao. Not recommended at all.

Crowded during breakfast. Must book. Food - so so... Asam Pedas was too hot that my hand feels burning hours after eating. Thus could not say whether it is tasty or not. Seeing other customers waiting for their drinks to arrive made me feel thankful mine was on the table

Restoran Medan Ikan Bakar Ipoh Warisan Maktokwan is a popular spot in Ipoh known for its delicious and crispy Ikan Bakar. Customers rave about the juicy and flavorful fish, with many claiming it to be the best they've ever had. The sambal padu adds an extra kick to the fresh and sweet flavors of the dish.
While in Ipoh, i stopped over at this restaurant as it was googled by my niece as 1 of the good place to have our dinner. For the 3 + 1 kiddo, we ordered : 1 family combo - ( 1 medium to small sized siakap + Rice + 2 types of veggies + chicken tomyam + fried egg + jug of watermelon ) Added another Siakap fish. All in all, our dinner was a blast.

The first female waitress seemed completely clueless when taking food orders. She didn't know how to explain the menu or even weigh the clams. The second female waitress, on the other hand, HAD NO MANNERS. I called her to add an order, expecting her to come to the table. But NO. Instead, she made a face as if she was disgusted, took the order half-heartedly, and didn’t even come to our table. We ordered grilled clams for RM16. Totally not worth it because they tasted like old clams. Such a waste. The other dishes tasted mediocre. The grilled fish was standard, just like what you'd get at other places. Pls ask your employees to behave and have good manners. The RUDE waitress should come to customer's table and take the order properly.

we visited for a dinner. the food was good & pretty decent. but the service is NOT good. we waited more than 30 mins for our orders to arrive, our drinks is bland, the waiter there didn’t serve well. we were expected the spoons and forks to be served along with the foods. but apparently we need to take the cutlery ourself (ok mybe we didnt know we need to take the cutlery ourselves but atleast, the waiter could’ve told us abt this :) ) and the worst of all, we asked for a tissue to wipe our table but the waiter gave us a wet kitchen cloth?? unbelievable….. overall, NOT RECOMMENDED to come here. 1 star was merely bcs of the pretty decent food. i hope the restaurant improves their serving skills and waiting time.oh and the price, not worth it.

Food is quite expensive. Also the service is very very slow. Food came out first but the drinks not arrived on time. No straw given, asked the staffs 2 times for the straw. Fork and spoon not given, I took it from another empty table. Anyhow, the food is delicious. Chances are quite less to visit here again due to their customer service is bad….

Hello, ive been here twice. Weekend and weekday. My fav here is ikan bakar. Mostly food okay but what i want to highlight here is the waiter attitude. Unfriendly and not suggest us what we should try. Plus i bring my friend from Melaka to try this good food but it turns out to be bad days since nak order pun lambat, sampai food pun lambat, waiter lelaki all zero friendly. Senyum tak, angkat kepala masa bercakap utk order tak, suggest tak. Like seriously this job not suitable for you if u cant work properly. But tbh, the food was good. That what make me repeat to coming here. I thought maybe on weekend they busy so penat nak entertained customer. But when i came again on weekday w my friend, still same. Need to improve the customer service. Rate for food is 4/5 but for customer service sorry need to give 1 instead. Will come again cause of the food and hopefully soon the service will be better.

Red Brick Kitchen is a hidden gem that offers good food and stunning scenery. The eatery is Muslim-friendly and serves brunch, lunch, and dinner. Located near the mountains, it also features a small resort. While the service is decent, some find it challenging to locate the place without navigation. The restaurant provides a cozy atmosphere for enjoying meals or simply indulging in desserts and tea. For better seating views, making an appointment is recommended.
From the moment one steps inside, a tranquil and elegant atmosphere envelops the senses. The interior design, bathed in natural light, creates an ethereal and harmonious space that feels like a quiet escape. The culinary journey is a beautiful testament to the art of food. The cappuccino is a masterpiece in a cup, a visual delight with its exquisite foam art that gives way to a truly sublime flavor. The main courses are equally impressive, particularly the breakfast plate, elevated by the inclusion of mushrooms cultivated on-site, whose fresh, earthy flavor speaks of a deep connection to nature. The pasta, with its vibrant colors and delicate balance of flavors, is a work of edible art. The service was top-notch. The staff was attentive and professional, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable meal. I highly recommend this establishment for a relaxed yet high-quality dining experience.

I ordered steak with fries and risotto. I asked for medium rare (I think), and it was so juicy and I’d rate it 8.5/10. It was my first time trying risotto, and I’d give it a 9/10! The taste was very cheesy and a bit milky, though a little muak after a while. Still, I loved it! Really recommended!

This place pleases my appetite. The food is great. The portion is decent and big. The price on the pricier end but the flavours are guaranteed. Would I repeat? Yes, for special occasions or when I missed the great food. Aesthetically pleasing with the view and glasshouse feel.

I recently visited a place, and I have to say the staff was super friendly, making me feel welcomed 😊. The food presentation was on point, and every dish tasted absolutely delicious 😋. Even though it was a bit pricey, the portions were so huge that I felt I got my money's worth. However, I noticed the space was a bit close, which made the noise echo quite a bit 📢. Overall, it was a great experience. I would consider visiting again.

A very famous restaurant serving some very famous and typical celebratory dishes. Our family celebrated grandmother’s birthday here and had a really good time. Every dish here is truly above standard. The Dry-fried Prawns (干煎虾) were absolutely delicious, perfectly charred and flavorful, probably the best I’ve ever had. The Pork Belly with Char Siu Sauce (叉烧汁炒花腩) was tender and paired beautifully with the sauce. The Stuffed Tofu (酿豆腐) was soft and delicate, though I’m personally not so used to the fish paste filling.

Came here few times whenever coming to Ipoh and this is one of the must go makan spots. Advanced reservation is required because this place is full most of the time whether for lunch or dinner. Despite being a busy place, we don’t have to wait long for foods to arrive. The taste and flavor for each dishes quite satisfying and delectable, especially ginger chicken and sweet and sour pork.

Dishes were pre-booked. 🌟Four Season Platter, featuring Stir-fried Crab claws, Stuffed Dumpling with Abalone, Battered Shrimps in lemony sauce and Fried Beancurd boat with fish paste and salted egg yolk. A good selection, delicious and cooked perfectly. 🌟Braised Crab Meat Soup, luxuriously rich and creamy. 🌟Steamed live Tiger Grouper in Soya Sauce, the meat was firm with delicate sweetness. 🌟Signature Steamed Ginger Village Chicken with tender meat and robust flavours. 🌟Steamed Tofu with Fish paste in soya sauce is also a popular dish. 🌟Stir-fried Noodles with squid and pork, a savoury, umami-rich twirl. 🌟Do make reservation to avoid disappointment. The steamed fish was fresh but the sauce is bit salty for us. The salted crab came in a pair. Crab meat was fresh but was a bit salty for me. I love the freshness of the steamed prawns and it is a must try (min is 300g). The french beans with mei cai was a pleasant suprise and I would recommend it. Parking was easy.

If you are from Ipoh , its likely you have attended a wedding dinner here at least once in your life. Old skool brand ! I love their signature ginger chicken here. Very strong and tasty ginger flavour. Tofu was smooth and quite general with minced meat for this dish. Prawns tasted fresh with a good amount of eggs inside. HK kailan with yam was simple but well prepared. Just nice texture for a very thick cut of the stem. Fish maw was very flavourful and packed with ingredients. Service : good Seating : indoor air conditioned. Reservations : recommended to book early. Parking : ample street parking

Impromptu decision to have nasi padang and was recommended this eatery by our Grab driver. We ate here around 4pm and our food arrived warm and they were delicious 🤤. The only comment would be that we had to repeat ourselves several times to have our cold beverages served (we had spicy food 🥵). The cashier was also friendly and helpful. We would definitely be back to try other dishes.

One of the best Padang cuisine in town. The varieties of the dishes are good. This is a good place especially those who crave for Indonesian Padang cookings. The restaurant also serve grilled fish where you can even choose live fish from the fish tank. You can never get any fresher than that..! Avocado juice is one of the specialty. This is a regular family restaurant, but they have specialties that I haven't tried before, like the Gai Lan sautéed with taro ! What a combination that never think of. Food is ok but nyonya sotong is a bit too salty. Their specialty Butter fish is good but I'm not a fan of tilapia fish / fried fish. Pork rib king & taufu are good too, but the taufu sauce is kinda too starchy (not to my liking). Among the food, I like best is their kailan stir fry with yam.

Came here as we wanted to try seafood in Ipoh. Very family run Chinese seafood restaurant - food was well cooked and tasty. We ordered a few dishes like steamed fish, prawns, some meat and veg. A note on their steamed fish - they use river fish which is expected given that Ipoh is not near any sea and get their local seafood likely from the river, but the fish was cooked well. They are usually fully booked ie popular with locals, need to make reservations. We were lucky to get a table by walking in as one of their customers were late. Yay us!

Restoran Makanan Laut Crab House is a popular seafood restaurant known for its fast service and delicious variety of crab dishes, such as steamed, grilled, and chili crab. One must-try dish is the Crab rice cooked in a clay pot, offering a delightful texture. The menu features an array of signature specialties like steamed Soon Hock, BBQ crab, huge steamed river prawns, and salted egg fish skins.
This restaurant is a great spot for a satisfying meal with impressively quick service—dishes arrive promptly without much waiting time. The homemade beancurd is a standout, melting in the mouth with a silky smooth texture and rich flavor. The black pepper crab offers a unique twist, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The highlight of the meal was the steamed squid, cooked to perfection with just the right bite—tender with slight spice. The only slight letdown was the fish, which was a bit overcooked, but overall, the meal was enjoyable and well worth it. A great choice for those looking for good food served efficiently!

We came as guests and didn't pay so I'm not sure what the price to value ratio is. So with that being said my review is based purely on the quality of the meal and service. Overall, the quality of the cooking here was excellent. The VIP rooms are a little old school and could do with a refresh on the decoration front. Good AC though with 3 units in a single room made it ice cold. The food quality was top tier and the staff were attentive in their service. We had a large fish about 3kg or so in weight that was buttery, flaky and with a delicious gravy. The 2nd course was my favourite as the ribs were large and already deboned. They had a crunchy outside but soft and tender inside. Excellent seasoning. The snow veggies or ice veggies (unsure of their name) were super interesting as they melted away in your mouth. I could have eaten tons of those. The pigs trotter is not my cup of tea but was again, cooked well and had a good portion size for a large group. The final course was a fresh fruit platter. Good serving and quality fruit.

Dropped by for a dinner event recently, thought it was a crab place. Man, was I wrong. Yes I did have crabs 🦀. But everything that came out from the kitchen was just superb. Hit the right notes at every turn. First of all, service was impeccable 💪🏻. Attentive and efficient. Ambience was your typical Chinese restaurant vibes, the look, the smell and the sounds. Dishes just took my breath away. Seafood from squid to prawn to fish to crab was fresh and flavourful. The fish was the best, nicely steamed fresh fish. Crab was huge, giant crabs 🦀. The pork knuckle is probably better than most restaurants that pride themselves for this. Perfectly fried. Tofu was soft, amazing as all tofu in ipoh. Fried mee had an amazing wokhei. Gosh it’s not whether I will be back, but rather when I will be back 😜

This restaurant is a branch of the Seremban roast crab restaurant. We had the crab which was slightly overcooked but the flavours were still good. The tofu was done excellently. We also had the lady fingers which was match with lemon thai sauce. It was delightful. Apart from the crab which cost RM188, the other dishes were reasonable.
Kim C — Google review
This is famous, obviously, for their crab. It's a comfortable place to dine at but without the bells and whistles, simple and functional but with air con for a comfortable temperature. Even though they are famous for their crab, they do their non crab dishes excellently. We started with their pork knuckle. It was served with delicious crackling oily skin. The meat was imo a little unevenly cooked, some were perfectly tender and juicy while some areas were a little dry and overcooked. Fortunately good outweighed bad. It also came with fresh salads to reduce the protein taste overload. The steamed fish was perfect. Fresh fish, just the right amount of steaming to get soft slightly firm meat. The sauce is beautifully balanced with soy sauce saltiness and oily sesame seed taste. Superb pairing with the meat. The Assam prawn had light minimal sauce but coats the prawn adequately. Quite average. The sotong meanwhile was cooked in Thai style with sourness and chilli. It's spicy and it's the slow burn ambush you kind of spiciness. The sotong itself was beautifully cooked to get a soft chewy non rubber consistency. Superb! The tofu looked simple with a starchy gravy but looks can be deceiving. The softness of the tofu blends remarkably well together. It's a good light dish to have for a contrast to all the heavily flavoured ones. Noodles? I loved the noodles. Good wok hei. Good taste. Incredibly well fried noodle to boot. Excellent carb dish to order. As for the crab, I must say that it's very fresh. The meat is plentiful and tasty. It comes with a tomatoey, lightly spicy and sweet gravy. It coats the crab well and flavours the crab meat deliciously. However, I actually found the non crab dishes more special compared with the crab. In the end, I had a great meal and as a whole all the dishes gelled very well, each with its unique taste without much overlap. I would definitely come again for future dining.

Ordered the shop’s special which is crab, the crab is big and textured, it is just nice. It also comes with mini bun, to dip crab sauce (we ordered chilli crab). According to the lady boss, the grab is from Indonesia, it’s big and a lot of crab meal as well. Four angle bean squid with lime sauce is also another must eat dish, sweet sour and a little spicy, it’s a strong appetite dish. Claypot taufu is cooked with homemade taufu, taufu is smooth and soft. The sauce is flavourful too! Lady boss is friend and welcomed, if you not sure what to get, do ask the lady boss to recommend~

Hard Rock Cafe Ipoh is a rock 'n' roll-themed chain known for its high-energy vibe and serving up classic American dishes like burgers. Located at Jalan Sultan Iskandar, it combines modern style with cultural heritage and is the second Tiong Nam-owned Hard Rock Cafe franchise. Situated in a bustling area, it's easily accessible by pedestrians from popular spots like The Octagon and Tong Sui Kai (Dessert Street).
Well we wanted have nice relax dinner and found out Hard Rock Cafe in Ipoh during our short trip so our experience was great there… Super kind staffs…food served fast too Food was bigger portion and tasty too… They have live band around 9+ so simply amazing time we had there…
Seetha L — Google review
Surprising find! Lovely place. Clean and bright. Cheerful, friendly staff. Perhaps have a lift for older or handicapped customers who would like to enjoy a meal at the live band level too. Live band was wonderful, just a bit to loud given the small space upstairs. Decor fits the team. Do hope it survives as was pretty empty on a Friday night.
Alison J — Google review
Look, I tried hard (rock) to like this place, and truth be told, it's brilliant in patches. The music obviously is unmatched, and the deco is filled with rock memorabilia that feeds the trivia-hungry brain of mine. And of course the service! Wonderful wait and counter staff who made me feel at home and welcome, no matter what time the visit. Now onto the gripes and niggles, mostly centering around the food. Hard Rock serves American cuisine with American portions, for better or worse. The steaks are good, and so are the burgers, but the consistency isn't there. The Messi burger and the strip steak (and fajitas as of 31/12/24 update) are utterly brilliant, wouldn't change a thing about them. Ditto the onion rings. The beef ribs however, are too large in portion, your jaw gets numb from the chewing and you'd get bored of barbecue sauce very quickly. Same goes for the mac and cheese, by the end of the meal you'd wish you ordered something else. Worst offender was the Bucharest burger from the world burger tour. The burger wasn't even warm. Pity, because it tasted wonderful. For the price I paid for some of these main courses, some are just not up to scratch. Drinks and cocktails are great though, and best is the cheaper prices during happy hour. Time flies past quickly when you're just sitting there chilling to Bowie, the Stones, the Beatles, Elton John and Queen. The ambience is unlike any other. In short, introduce some quality control to the food, and you have a winner. Update 31/12/24: the fajitas are absolutely delicious. Look at the photos and be convinced. Tons of cheese, juicy beef, juicy chicken, all that guac. Brought back memories of having them at Chili's in KL many years ago. Definitely add them to your to-try list. New rating reflects favourable recent visit.

Everyone knows this is a good restaurant, we went there early so we still managed to get seats. The foods were delicious and big in portion. Atmosphere was not as what we expected as we were seated at the sofa, 6 persons at the sofa were not really comfortable. However, music was good. Thing that must be improved is the staff service, we called to take order but no one came. I personally went to the bar to call a staff to take order, the staff memorized our orders. At first I thought that was good but there were incorrect item ordered and 2 missed order. Well, that was fine. We enjoyed the food then called for the bill, again no one was there to entertain our calls. We called 3 times before we were able to get our bill and we paid then left the restaurant with disappointment. Wanted to do an online survey using the link provided on the receipt, but it was not successful. Good restaurant with good food and atmosphere but not good service. Please improve your service. I went for the second time and brought my friend from overseas to enjoy the live band. Unfortunately, the live band was extremely loud and noisy, Sorry I use the word noisy. So, no good at all.

Allongs, Warong Ipoh Lontong is a bustling and vibrant restaurant in Ipoh known for its delicious and authentic Malay dishes. The highlight of the menu is the carefully crafted Lontong, a savory coconut-based broth served with rice cakes and an assortment of condiments. In addition to their renowned Lontong, they also offer a variety of Nasi Lemak options featuring ingredients like squids, eggs, and sambal paru.
Decent foods, ordered the lontong, one of nice places to have breakfast in Ipoh.
Javier R — Google review
Bought them online and although it took long time but it was all worth it. Love the Lontong Special with Sambal Sotong and the Soto! If ever I come here again I will eat at the shop. The gravy is silky smooth and the sambal is just absolutely marvellous. Even the Nasi Lemak was delicious but ‘feels’ average if compared with the Lontong. Recommended!

If you are a lontong lover, this is the place in Ipoh that can cater you a very delicious original lontong. Plus Theres also other breakfast dishes such as nasi lemak and mee kari. The price is affordable.

I was so excited since it was my first time step in to this beautiful modern style food restaurant However, after go through the menu and made order, i was inform that the food i have ordered already finish (it was only 9pm that time) Then i have request to cancel the order inclusive the beverages, but before i went out, the staff ask me to stay for the beverage. After waited for 20mins, i ask again whether the beverages are ready but the staff only ask me to wait without any further info. 10mins later i went off without a word. I have wasted my 30mins with no food & beverages, feeling hungry & my husband patiently, hungrily waiting for me. Not a good impression for first timer, kindly improve since the ambience & the food looks very good.

A nasi campur restaurant particularly during lunchtime. Can be crowded. The restaurant occupies two shop lots including the end lot near PETRONAS station. Huge selection of food - grilled, masak lemak, asam pedas, ulam etc. Very tasty food. Price is slightly above the market. Hygiene of the restaurant needs improvement.

Great food and chill atmosphere. Had breakfast for my family of 6 before our bus ride (5 min car ride away from Terminal Amanjaya.). Food was great.

Placed an order through a male staff member. Mentioned several times I’m in a rush. He didn’t mention that I need to order through a barcode. The rest of my family continued to place orders through a barcode. Their food arrived except for mine and my mum's. Asked the female staff to check our food. TWICE. Mum's food arrived. Flagged the female staff again. She came and said my order is not in the system. That’s all. I asked if she did something. Place my order? Ask the kitchen to quickly do my order. She said “ nope. Coz not in the system”. Frustrated, I told her that she had gone to the kitchen twice. Didn’t she check? It’s been too long. And she rudely responded to me making a rude face too. Food was good but THE STAFF needs improvement. SO RUDE.

Restaurant
Restoran Nasi Kandar Pekan Lama is a popular spot in Ipoh known for its unique Nasi Kandar, featuring aromatic mango curry with a flavor similar to Indian mango chutney. The restaurant operates daily from 10 am to 4 pm and is well-regarded for its no-frills approach, limited seating, and affordable prices.
1st time trying this nasi kandar stall. Was recommended from social media. Reached at 11.15am already long queue. The boss who taking our order speak fluent Cantonese. Sauces are spicy enough, very appetizing. Order 2 packs chicken and 1 mutton with cuttlefish. Very very reasonable price compared to that famous stall. 3 packs cost me only rm18.
Hsiao L — Google review
The owner and the workers are super friendly and nice. It’s located near the flats in Ipoh town. A lot of ppl will come during lunch hour, and the nasi kandar next door crowd was just so-so. It’s famous by the locals and chinese. A lot of chinese dines in there. There’s a variety list of dishes available. For me, the taste was just okay, not that great. BUT everyone has different preferences. I prefer other curry mix. The nyior sambal is spicy. That gives the kick. The curry is not thick, it’s light. The rendang is different than normal malay rendang. Total price for the dish and sirap limau is RM16. You should try different types of nasi kandar in Ipoh, cause none taste the same and everyone has different preferences.
Sarah K — Google review
Personal I think it’s worth to visit. Food taste is to my liking. I was so surprised that stall owner speak very well Cantonese.👍🏻 . I will definitely come back again to try their curry fish 🐟 head!

One of the best nasi kandar in Ipoh. Delicious ayam rendang and ayam madu. The owner, he himself is the joki of the restaurant. A friendly and nice person indeed.
MT A — Google review
Came here on a Sunday morning at 1030am. Already long queue even though it was delayed in opening their shop. About 1040am it opened and queue started moving and got my food after 10-15 minutes. The seating is very cramped and people with families book the seats by sitting there while someone queued. But the shop staff can always find a place to sit as the customers eat and leave, don't linger around. I ordered half rice, fried chicken and sliced fish curry, kuah campur, 3-types vegetables (taugeh-timun-bendi) and sirap limau, total price RM15. Payment by both cash and online transfer (QR code) accepted. Taste wise, curry is mild, no MSG taste, food all fresh, special is their coconut sambal. Customer service is good, don't worry, everyone just enjoying. Be patient.
Susan S — Google review
I especially loved the mango in the curry. It is unique and special. It taste similar to mango chutney Indian style. The ayam rendang is spicy and really suited my taste. Overall, highly recommended for everyone especially nasi kandar lovers. Price is also reasonable. *updated review in 2025 Still the same great and uniques taste.
Norhazlinda A — Google review
Nasi Kandar Pekan Lama is a go-to spot for locals craving authentic nasi kandar at an affordable price. My personal favorite is their nasi with ayam rendang, which never disappoints. Despite being consistently packed, the service is impressively quick, so you won’t have to wait long to dig in. With just RM10, you can enjoy a satisfying meal with drinks, making it a great value for money. The owner’s ability to speak Malay, English, Tamil, and Chinese adds a welcoming touch, making it an inclusive spot for all. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a local nasi kandar experience!

If it's self service as far as ordering and paying, then disregard. However, as they he took our coffee order at the table and never returned, I had to get up and order food up front and pay the bill the same way. I had the Chicken Ho Fun and my wife had the eggs and toast along with two iced white coffees. Everything was really delicious. Nice atmosphere in old town and an informative little museum up top to tell you the story of OTWC.

Nestled in the heart of Ipoh, Jendela Mikael is a charming café that promises an inviting atmosphere and a delightful culinary experience. Diners rave about their Nasi Lemak Berempah and Butter Chicken, both bursting with flavor and satisfaction. While the food may take some time to arrive, the polite staff ensure you feel welcomed throughout your visit.
The parking lot is very spacious. I dined here and ordered the Telaga Tujuh set for RM80. For me, the food was acceptable. The shrimp were not excessively large or small. The taste of the drinks was pleasant. Staffs were very kind and polite. It just took a little while for the food to arrive.

Went there for a quick lunch. But in the end waited 50mins for our meal to be served. At that time including us only 4 tables (3-5pax per table). We ordered Sup Ayam, Telur Dadar, Rendang Tok & Siakap 3 rasa. When the fish was served, it wasn’t fully cooked. So we sent back the fish to the waitress. Waited another 20mins, and we get our “burnt” fish. The kitchen fried the fish again (with sauce), and they added more sauce for us. The whole fish was burnt and bitter. We didn’t finished the fish, because it was toooo bitter and no appetite to finish at all. The restaurant gave 10% discount of the fish. I didn’t get to take photos of other dishes, because we were tooooo hungry. The rendang Tok tastes fine, it just that when the rendand was cold when served. Atmosphere- I think when we get there, the aircond under maintenance. It was soooo hot and not ventilated. So the waitress sent 3 families (including us) to a small private dining room. Our total bill for the lunch was RM 110.55. (Sup Ayam, Telur Dadar, Rendang Tok, white rice x2, Siakap 3 rasa, & 1 iced lemon tea)

A beautifully designed café in Ipoh offering a cozy ambiance, great coffee, and a thoughtful selection of local and Western dishes. Spacious parking, which is super convenient! The food took a bit of time to arrive, but the staff were very polite and apologetic — and honestly, once the food came, it was totally worth the wait. Everything was delicious! I had the butter chicken and smoked beef (daging salai) — both were rich in flavor, perfectly cooked, and truly satisfying. The drinks were also tasty and refreshing. Prices are very affordable for the quality you get. It’s also a great place for those with young children — the air-conditioning is cool and the environment is very comfortable. Ikan Bakor D' Sungei offers a unique dining experience with its smoked fish dishes served on the banks of the Sungei River. The restaurant is known for its delectable Ikan Bakor Sungei, which is a must-try for visitors. Additionally, guests can enjoy their meal in a distinctive atmosphere by the river. However, some aspects such as unopened petai and questionable cleanliness of self-service water cups have been noted by patrons.
Food here was quite okay. The service and system a bit weird. 4 things that should be highlighted here. 1) The petai wasn't pre-opened. So it was a bit of hassle to eat it 2) There are cups prepared for those who want self served plain water. But the cleanliness of the cup is questionable 3) Atmosphere there was gloomy. There aren't many lights. The fan also couldn't cover all the dining area 4) FLY! LOTS OF IT.

Rice is a bit hard and not nice to eat . Seafood is fresh and price is not high too . We had great dinner here . Very Privacy but service is so so not very attentive and have to ask for things and staff are not alert .
Jamie J — Google review
The food service really slow, the food quality was bad and we were waiting 1hr for our foods. The price was ridiculous with the portion given. No wonder this restaurant has no local people around even though on weekend. Hopefully, they will improve their service & quality drastically if they would like to sustain the business. Take this feedback as a point for improvement, wish you all the best!
Suhaila A — Google review
Good place to try grilled fish dishes. The Good: 1) Got great selection of grilled fish (ikan bakar) and side dish (lauk pauk) to eat with plain rice. 2) Price is super OK; not expensive. 3) Seatings is abundant. 4) They grilled the fish at one side of the restaurant lot, far away from dining customers; good because the smoke wouldn't "attacks" customers' olfactory or "blinding" their eyes. 5) They serve free-of-charge filtered water (Coway) and cordial drink; other than that like Teh O Ais, Teh Ais, etc. are charged drinks. 6) Got sweet soy sauce (kicap manis); Hey! that's very important when it comes to eating plain rice! The Bad: 1) As for my 1st experience here, I considered it as a bad one because the time I went there, all the lauk pauk are still on stoves, not ready yet to be serve, even though the time was 12pm noon. So, I had to eat (and yes, I waited more around 20±min for better choice of side dish, but still not ready) the few choices that they have at that moment. Super disappointing. The excuse they gave was: "Maaf, kami kena buat katering tadi..." 2) Same as the lauk pauk, the fish selection was very limited (please refer to the pic attached; ONLY 2 TYPES OF FISH AVAILABLE?!). What a bad experience. 3) There are a few spot under the roof which did not cover the dining area well enough: it was raining the time I went there, and I saw few unfortunate customers need to change their seatings due to rain water pouring down onto their tables. Postscript: I must admit that maybe I got unlucky on that 1 time, so I do want to repeat my dining here again, hoping for better and more fortunate experience.

Their employees were also very friendly and helped with questions regarding menu. Definitely will repeat next visit in Ipoh❤️

Loved this restaurant! Came back twice on our few days in Ipoh. Chef Uni was super friendly and we had a good chat on both visits. He also kindly made some vegetarian options for me (even though not on menu). Super tasty and affordable food. Ipoh white coffee was great too.

A must try when youre in Ipoh! My go-to restaurant for authentic & affordable Halal Chinese food. Chef Uni his team are the best! Their Ayam Garam & Roasted Duck are my fav mains alongside their side dishes — lo mai gai & baos! Would often order online on GrabFood too. Located right beside an open parking spot & within Ipoh Town so parking is very convenient here.

Ordered Hokkien Prawn Mee Hoon and Fried Kuey Teow, THE BEST WE EVER HAD!!!! Service was fast, and food tasted so damn good. Highly Recommended

I'm Indonesian and I was here in November 2023. At first, I tried some of their food for dinner and surprisingly everything was SO GOOD! We decided to go back the next day and try other dishes and nothing disappointed. I love their lobak and we even ordered more for a take away haha. This is a halal chinese restaurant and they served a big portion The owner came to our table and we talked for a few moments. He asked about the food and mentioned that he has visited several cities in Indonesia. He's so nice and the service is excellent. His wife is also very kind. I'd love to come back here once I visit Ipoh again. See you again uncle!

Went here for breakfast.Ordered lobak goreng and Kuay tiaw goreng. The food is good and delicious. The service is fast. The owner are friendly.

The iced kopi was great, I also ordered the fried kuetiau which was packed full of flavour and spicier than I’d expected. I am from the UK though so we’re not very good with spicy food

Went to have breakfast with my big family of 15 people. Food were great, the atmosphere was refreshing. The owners are very welcoming, friendly and they made us feel like going to a relative house for rumah terbuka. They also took some time to chat and share interesting places in Ipoh. Highly recommended for anyone to come by here❤️

Nestled within the Artworks Hotel in Ipoh, Cafe Warisan Bonda is a delightful spot that truly shines during Ramadan with its special open buffet. This culinary experience features an array of traditional dishes from various countries along the Silk Road, making it a feast for both the eyes and palate. Delicious yet cheap breakfast with a variety of food served. Probably you can't find any cafe/ restaurant with this kind of pricing and food portion. Besides, the ambience is decent with nice decoration. However, you need to make reservation in advance because it's full house on public holidays.
Xion — Google review
Based on the food served, the price is reasonable and the environment suit for family and friend gathering. Recommended for this place.
Bobb T — Google review
We did a gathering there for 30pax - rm40 per pax. The food preparations were good and taste also quite good. The ambiance was also good. Except for the size of the place everything else was good

We had our faculty’s Merdeka Makan at Café Warisan Bonda, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the ambiance warm and inviting, and there was ample parking. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they were also very accommodating by preparing special vegetarian dishes for us. Truly a great place to dine.

Today i had faculty hi-tea. I cant get over with Nasi Lemak Pandan, Rendang Ayam and Roti Jala! Coffee and soft drink - ice grape, all delicious. Feels like home and parking is easy.

The place was quite cozy and great especially it's cafe. Honestly, I came for my cousin wedding which is held there and their hospitality is great for the package they offer. Also not so expensive if you want to held a ceremony with an amount of guest (100-200 pax). The food also is good.

Nestled on Jalan Dato Maharajalela in Ipoh, Royal Blue Restaurant is a haven for food enthusiasts seeking a diverse culinary experience. Open daily, it offers an array of dishes from breakfast to dinner. Breakfast favorites like Roti Bakar and Nasi Lemak are available from Friday to Sunday. While the ambiance is pleasant and the front area well-maintained, some guests have noted that the flavors could be more robust, with portions of meat being on the smaller side.
On a pricey side tapi in the heart of Ipoh pula the location The foods is so so. Kinda like kurang rasa / bland a bit. Ordered rice with dishes but they only service tinyyyyy tinyyy slices of chicken and beef. Kinda like shredded types. The drinks are okay okay. The front end is clean. The surrounding but the toilet can do some improvement in terms of cleanliness. Will I return again? For the portion and price. No thank you.

Chosen this place for breakfast because laksa-mana hasnt opened yet. Maybe it was a mistake. 930am and lempeng were already gone. Mee tarik only has fish ball/cake and roti goyang's egg's portion is left to be desired. True to other reviews that portion does not reflect its pricing. Sad because we definitely want to support this place.

Assalamualaikum..actually for food lover & cafe hunting i don’t do reviews..and this is the 1st time im doing review because i think i had to for the good sake of other customers and owner..im truly sorry if my review will hurt the image of the cafe,my intentions is for the owner to take action and revise again all the taste of each menu including the cost. We ordered 1 mix bali set for RM44. Me and my husband sangat lapar and expected that the portion was big enough worth the price for two of us and i just add on one rice.It mentioned in the menu the RM44 is included sotong, ayam, daging, udang. We were very shocked u guys serve the menu with few slices daging which is very dry and takda rasa langsung, the chicken thighs is very small, udang only 4,and the sotong very small and smelly which kami sendiri tak boleh telan.Plus the chicken skewer with serai no taste chicken at all, hanya rasa full of tepung and sangat nipis. 2nd menu i ordered for my son is ultimate beef burger..surprisingly i noticed too late, anak i da makan separuh which the patty was not cooked and still red. Last menu we ordered was the fish and chip, the fish was very dry and overcooked, the fries served cold. The service was very bad and slow,i also overheard the table next to us,the english tourists complained wrong ordered. Overall i think this is the most bad cafe in ipoh i’ve been and its just overhyped in socmed. For RM120.++ for 3 menu was wasted and not worth it.This is the 1st and the last were going. If others ask recommendations i’ll just ask them to go others places which is way more better and worth the price. Thank you.

Food was delicious..able to custom the pasta. Beverages are average only. Need to work out on beverages. Choices for food and beverages can be improved.

Renamed to Rumah Biru. Maybe change Owner and Chef. as Beef Steak look different from photos shared by fellow reviewers. Steak quite thick and delicious, but my cut has way too many chewy parts. Steak price bump by RM20 or 60% increase tho..
Mohd R — Google review
Nice atmosphere and high ceiling with unique deco. Unfortunately the food tastes bland & not worth the price. I ordered creamy seafood pasta. I'm expecting seafood type of food but only has 4pcs of prawn and shredded of salmon for rm27+. All the drinks have rusty smells & can't even finish it.
Suka T — Google review
Arrived at 10 am, food arrived 45 minute later. Great. If you dont mind the lateness, then you can come here. Other than that..its ok..
Mohamad A — Google review
My husband and I came here for breakfast and ordered kuey teow soup and fried kuey teow, but the food was very disappointing because a bit pricey. They only included fish cake / fish balls for the main ingredient. They should have added some chicken for more flavor. That would have made the dishes much tastier. Hopefully, this restaurant can improve their breakfast meals. thanks

Holiday trip to Ipoh with 3 young kids and went here as per recommended by Google as this is one of the few halal restaurant that opened until late night. Super slow services and the waiter got our order wrong, 3 times in a row. We ended up requesting for the food to be take-out instead as it was late. The food is surprisingly good and tasty. The portion is quite generous as well. But, weighting in the services and the food, not recommended. Maybe, if you're alone, not really hungry and got time to spend.

Bad reviews for this place are correct, dont come here, bad service, food not so good, expensive than standard, cooker better go back to learning how to cook, even the drinks are not great, we come when the restaurant dont have a lot of customers but got the food really late! Dont come here

Lombab…really slow service..both on western and tomyam.. took forever just to prepare nasi goreng pattaya and there were only 6 table of customers that time..come again? Definitely NOPE
