Theme park
Located in Perak, Malaysia, the Lost World of Tambun is a one-of-a-kind eco-adventure destination surrounded by tropical jungles and limestone cliffs. This 40-acre park features 10 theme parks with 88 attractions, including water rides, amusement park activities, petting zoos, and hot springs. It's an ideal escape for families seeking adventure and relaxation. Additionally, the park offers eco-tourism tours to nearby limestone caves.
Such an amazing experience! All integrated into ancient limestone cliffs. There are so many varied areas to explore from petting zoos with a huge variety of animals, to theme park rides (albeit quite small ones), adventure sports like zip lining, water slides, hot springs, and a glow in the dark forest walk. I suggest visiting in that order. We're literally there from 10am to 10pm and the kids loved the entire time. Highly recommended. Hot tip: buy discounted tickets on KLOOK.
Jason F — Google review
f you’re planning to visit the Lost World of Tambun Hot Springs, I’d definitely recommend buying your tickets online beforehand to save time and money. We found Agoda had cheaper tickets than Klook during our visit, so it’s worth checking different platforms for the best deal. As for the hot springs, they were nice but not as hot as I expected. It’s not that they were disappointing, but I think the temperature was adjusted to make it comfortable for everyone, so it wasn’t super hot. Still, the experience was relaxing, and the mineral-rich waters felt soothing. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, making it a great place to unwind. Overall, it’s a nice spot for some relaxation, and the park itself is clean and well-maintained. I’d definitely recommend it, but just keep in mind the temperature of the hot springs might not be as intense as you’d expect.

The Lost World of Tambun is a fantastic destination for families! The mini zoo is well-kept and great for kids to see and interact with animals up close. The water park is the highlight, especially for little ones who love splashing around—there are plenty of slides and pools to keep them entertained for hours. It’s a fun mix of adventure, learning, and play, making it a perfect spot for kids and adults alike. Highly recommended for a family day out!

✨ Lost World of Tambun, Ipoh ✨ A must-visit attraction in Ipoh for families and friends 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. This theme park has everything — thrilling water slides 💦, hot springs ♨️, petting zoo 🐯, amusement rides 🎢 and even adventure activities like zipline and cave exploration ⛰️. The hot springs at night are super relaxing 🌙✨, while the daytime is perfect for enjoying the water park and theme rides. Kids will love the animals at the petting zoo, and adults can enjoy the natural hot spring pools. It’s really a place that suits all ages! 👍 The park is spacious and well-maintained, with plenty of food stalls 🍔🥤 and resting areas. Parking is also easy 🚗. Since it can get crowded on weekends and holidays, it’s best to come early ⏰ to make the most of your visit. Overall, Lost World of Tambun is more than just a theme park — it’s a full experience of fun, relaxation and adventure all in one place 🌟. Highly recommended if you’re in Ipoh! 🥰
Akmalyaya_ — Google review
Lost World of Tambun offers an "amazing" and "wholesome" family-friendly experience that successfully combines different park types. The hot springs and interactive petting zoo are consistently the most praised features, creating a magical day-to-night transformation. While the amusement rides are not the main draw, the combination of a water park, zoo, and spectacular natural surroundings makes it a recommended destination for a unique eco-adventure. For the best experience, visit on a weekday to avoid crowds, and consider the day-and-night ticket to enjoy the different ambiances.
A. A — Google review
Stay in the park from 3pm to 1030pm at night, manage to: 1. Take 3 rides 2. See all animals 3. Feed small animals in petting zoo 4. Visit the luminous forest 5. Dip in all hot spring pool 6. Watch fire show 7. Rest and have dinner The park is quite huge, Walked about 13k steps within that 7hours. Luminous forest is a bit challenging with the darkness and the stairs up and down. Something new, but not really worth all the effort to climb in and out if too exhausted. Did not manage to experience the water park area yet, maybe next time.
Shan N — Google review
Had an event here with my friends and family. Thanks to Mr. Shaiful for helping with our booking and Mr.Aaron for assisting us that day of our event. From check in the hotel , day theme park, lunch, dinner ( in hotel function room) and Night park everything went smooth no problem at all. My friends and family enjoyed and had fun and surely will comeback for more❤️
Luvly ( — Google review
Rather complete water park with little zoo, amusement rides, water slides, wave pool, lazy river, adventure park and off course hot spring pools. Animal feeding at the petting zoo and hippo enclosure is a highlight for kids Glamping options here too A bit old but decently maintained. Only annoyed that they do not allow food in and kinda forces visitors to buy from the stores in there. Note that the store opens at 9am but the park opens at 11am

History museum
Han Chin Pet Soo, located in Ipoh Old Town, is Malaysia's first Hakka tin mining museum. It was originally the gathering place for the Hakka Tin Miners Club and now offers a captivating journey into the history and culture of the region's tin mining industry. The museum showcases interactive exhibits, guided tours, artifacts, photos, and personal stories that provide insights into the lives of immigrant Hakka tin miners in the early 20th century.
I had a wonderful experience on this one-hour guided tour that explores the history of tin mining and the Hakka community’s significant role in shaping Malaysia’s tin industry. The tour covered not only the technical aspects of tin mining operations but also gave great insight into the early lifestyle of the people who lived and worked in the area. What made the experience even more special were the old artifacts on display—some of which I remember from my childhood. It really brought back nostalgic memories. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, presenting the history in a way that was both informative and enjoyable. The group size was small (limited to 10 people), which made it more personal and easier to follow along. There are only three sessions a day, all conducted in English, and registration is required online. The tour is free, though donations are welcome to support their ongoing efforts, which we did. I definitely learned a lot from this visit and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. It’s a meaningful and enriching experience, especially for anyone interested in local history
CS T — Google review
An hour of guided tour well spent - we learnt so much about the history of the building, the Chinese immigrants in general and the lifestyle back then. The tour was done in English, our guide was really knowledgeable. Advance booking via their website is advisable as the slots are limited, understably so as the tour cannot accommodate a large crowd at one go. Something different to do apart from the usual sightseeing, shopping and eating. Please make a donation at the end of tour to contribute to the preservation of this historical site. Also please come on time to avoid interruption to the tour.
Ng W — Google review
I would recommend every visitor to book their slot for a tour of this little mansion within the first two days of their time in Ipoh. We came here on the day we were leaving Ipoh, having already visited other museums and also the last tin dredge, and even as a local Hakka person reasonably familiar with my family history and culture, I still find the tour very engaging and enlightening. I cannot recommend this place enough and would like to thank Ipoh World for its great work conserving and promoting this place.
MinYen W — Google review
Amazing museum. The tour was so informative and interesting. Definitely recommend to anyone that are interested in Chinese immigrants culture and the tin industry history. You need to book in advance since the slots are limited. It’s free but I willingly donated after the tour and I believe everyone would do so.
Hedwig Y — Google review
Sixty minutes vanished rapidly, courtesy of our exceptional guide. Highly informative, well-organized details, and a beautifully maintained structure. It appears to be a tremendously popular destination, so we were fortunate to secure a few remaining bookings. Reservations are essential. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Rita M — Google review
The guide Mr Leong is very engaging and makes the subject matter very accessible. This was my third visit to a tin mining-themed museum and Han Chin Pet Soo was by far the best in terms of experience and curation. I brought along an American visitor who was suitably impressed as well. The experience of walking through what used to be an exclusive building and learning about how the tin towkays and every person’s role in the industry, down to the cook, was very meaningful and educational. Excellent use of space to make sure every inch served to host comprehensive and coherent displays. I cannot recommend this tour enough for first-time visitors, even for frequent Ipoh visitors looking to learn more about the city that tin built. Han Chin Pet Soo should be made part of school visits for secondary school students to learn what was once the greatest source of wealth for this nation. I greatly enjoyed my visit and would like to make another. I hope Ipoh World will create other projects based on Ipoh’s history.
Tracy T — Google review
My pre booked English language tour lasted one hour and was very interesting and educational and delivered with passion. You have to rebook on their website, free entry with optional donation.
Andrew L — Google review
Han Chin Pet Soo is a must-visit attraction in Ipoh, especially for those who love history, culture, and learning about the past. This museum focuses on the life of Hakka miners and the tin mining industry, which played a big role in shaping Ipoh's history. The collection of artifacts, old photographs, and well-preserved items gives you a glimpse of how people lived and worked during that time. The guided tour is very informative, and the guide explains everything clearly, making it easy to understand even for those who are not familiar with the topic. The building itself is a piece of history, beautifully restored and well-maintained, adding to the charm of the experience. Visiting Han Chin Pet Soo is like stepping back in time and learning about an important part of Malaysia’s heritage. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, this is a great place to explore and appreciate the rich history of Ipoh. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

Awesome view enter into cave then came out from the cave with a pond view. Water drop naturally flow from top of cave. Suggest to come before noon time.

Visited Kek Lok Tong last year (31/8/2024), this temple is built inside a massive limestone cave with stunning rock formations and a peaceful atmosphere. You’ll find a beautiful garden at the back with a pond and walking paths. The entrance is free, and there’s ample parking. Entire area is clean and well-maintained. It’s suitable for families, solo travelers, and couples who enjoy nature and culture. A must-visit spot in Ipoh — great for sightseeing, photography, and some quiet reflection.

One of the most beautiful cave I’ve been in Malaysia. The stalagmites and stalactites formations are so incredible. It has temple inside where locals and tourists can visit. At the back it has garden and lake and also a river that you can do boating. I love how they took care of the cave. It was worth to visit if you’re nature lover. It’s really good for the eye the surrounding green. It was so clean and well maintained.

A stunning limestone cave temple! From the towering limestone hills to the vast, cavernous caves, this place is packed with one breathtaking view after another. It’s not just a Buddhist temple—there are also serene ponds with lily pads and lush greenery all around. A true photographer’s dream. Peaceful, beautiful, and absolutely worth the visit!

I recently visited Kek Look Tong Cave Temple in Ipoh, and it was absolutely phenomenal! This hidden gem combines natural beauty with spiritual tranquility, making it a must-visit destination. The first thing that struck me was the breathtaking scenery! Nestled within the limestone hills, the cave opens up to stunning natural formations. Stalactites and stalagmites create an otherworldly atmosphere, while the well-maintained gardens outside provide a serene contrast. The temple inside the cave is a place of peace and reverence. The statues and altars are beautifully crafted, and the atmosphere is one of calm and reflection. It's a perfect place to find a moment of inner peace! Besides exploring the cave and temple, visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk around the beautiful garden and lake area. There are plenty of photo opportunities, and the views are simply spectacular. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall positive experience! Kek Look Tong Cave Temple is a perfect blend of nature, spirituality, and tranquility. Whether you're a nature lover, a spiritual seeker, or just looking for a unique place to visit, this cave temple will not disappoint. I highly recommend adding it to your travel itinerary when visiting Ipoh!!

Quite large. It is a temple and there is a park at the back. Nice atmosphere. The cave is amazingly stunning. They keep the nature and all the beauty naturally. Monkeys are playing wildly at the park at the back of the temple cave. But they are not close to human and walking path so not much to worry. We can enjoy some activities like bicycle (very special not normal bike), boat ride.. Entrance is free, unless you play outdoor activities
Quỳnh H — Google review
Free entrance. Walk through the cave to the opposite end, there will be a park complete with a small lake and a stream beside the cave. The park has bicycles and paddle boat for rent. Make sure you come early before 4pm if you intend to take a stroll around the park.

Perak Cave Temple, also known as Perak Tong, is a stunning Buddhist temple situated on a picturesque hill in Malaysia. Founded in 1926 by Chinese Buddhist immigrants, the temple boasts intricate murals, grand altars, and a towering golden Buddha statue. Visitors can climb over 400 steps to reach the hilltop and enjoy breathtaking views. The cave system within the temple offers an intriguing exploration experience for travelers.
A must visit place while you in Ipoh. Prepare your self to get on top. Climb a very steep stairs. Bring your own waters, there is no water supply on top. The climbing gate open from 8 am- 4 pm. Free entry. This is a Buddhist temple, but it was opened for public. Just respect for their culture.
David P — Google review
It was easy to get there using the grab from the city. It costs around 15RM. The temple was located in the countryside so there was nothing near there. You can enjoy the temple in the cave without a fee. You can also enjoy the view of the top and can see the whole Ipoh city but it was not huge than I expected. If you visit Ipoh, you have to visit here to enjoy the cave temple and many monkeys.

Perak Cave Temple is a beautiful and peaceful place, perfect for a quiet and healing visit. The cave itself is impressive, with stunning limestone formations and intricate Buddhist statues and murals. The atmosphere is calm and spiritual, making it a great spot to reflect and relax. You can also climb up to the viewpoint for a lovely panoramic view of Ipoh—definitely worth the effort. The temple may not be very modern, but its charm lies in its natural beauty and serene energy. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful and tranquil experience.
YippieYaYa — Google review
Impressive cave temple with multiple galleries and levels. A set of very steep and narrow stairs leads to the top of the cliffs with rewarding views across Ipoh. This climb is not for the faint hearted. Suggest not to attempt this walk during the midday heat. Take water.
Bread B — Google review
Perak Cave Temple is a fascinating blend of nature and spirituality, with an incredible temple built right into the cliff face. Inside, the cave opens into a warren of shrines, statues, and murals that stretch deep into the rock, creating a truly atmospheric experience. The energetic hike up the well-maintained steps to the top was equally impressive, offering sweeping views of Ipoh and the surrounding limestone hills. However, visitors should be cautious at the summit as the monkeys can be cheeky and bold, especially if you’re carrying food. Overall, it’s a memorable and rewarding visit that balances cultural heritage with natural beauty.
John M — Google review
A must see in Ipoh. The temple paintings were beautiful and the walk through the cave and up to the top was incredible. Popping! Entry was free and they served free tea on the ground floor which was nice. There's not much information about the temple inside so do a quick read before you come.
H D — Google review
This is a fascinating place to visit. The temple nestled within the cave is truly breathtaking. While you can climb up to the hilltop, it’s quite a tedious task, and the view isn’t particularly worth the effort. However, it’s a pleasant spot to take a break and relax.

Sam Poh Tong Temple is a renowned limestone cave temple that dates back to 1953. It sits on a 12-acre site and was used as a place of worship as early as 1920. The temple is located in a huge cave within the limestone outcrops behind Gunung Rapat and features a central altar with Buddhist figures and Chinese deities. The caves offer a unique garden view inside, and the surrounding landscape includes jogging paths, lakes, and reflexology footpaths.
It was a truly beautiful place. The view was amazing, and I loved feeding the fish in the pond – it was so calming. The whole atmosphere was incredibly peaceful, making it perfect for a family outing, whether you're looking for a quiet place to reflect or just a relaxing day trip. And the tortoises? A charming bonus!

It's temple in the cave. Actually I went there around 1:50pm, but already closed in the firat day, so 2nd day, I went there at 8am. Then finally I could get in. However turtle ponds were opened around 8:30am. It looks nice, but the turtle pond was the best place where you have to chec and see. It's divine.

Super spiritual visit !!! We love the lake it was so magical. Though we visited the place when there was a lot of crowd, the scene was still so worth it and it still felt so calming. Best spot out of my day trip in Ipoh!
Jini — Google review
The temple itself is unique because it’s built inside the cave, and walking through the tunnel to reach the shrine gives a quiet, mystical feeling. It’s not a big place, but perfect for a short, relaxing visit away from the busy city. However, some areas could use a bit more care and maintenance. Still, the natural beauty and peaceful environment make up for it. If you love calm places, nature, or photography, this temple is definitely worth a stop when visiting Ipoh.

Unique experience only exist in Ipoh! Do not miss this! One temple takes up 15-20 mins. Temple was build using the protection of cave, amazing architecture and blend with nature. Cave provides cooling effect, strong protection, it’s commonly used as habitation in the past. 建在山洞和山中里的庙。 Beware of wild monkeys! Do not carry any bags during visit. Monkeys will snatch them as they expect all bags carries food. 😂

The owners/ receptionist were truly kind and friendly. However, the fantasy house itself was pretty run down, dim lighting, only a few spots or rooms with air conditioning. Funtasy House Trick Art is a really cool place with amazing 3D Trick Art Illusions. When you go there, it feels like going into a make-believe world where everything looks unreal. The paintings on the walls make you feel like you're inside the art! It's so much fun to take pictures because the illusions look real in the photos. I had a great time and would tell my friends to check it out for sure

Fun place to be. We came on a Tuesday and there were hardly anyone around. There is an entrance fee as shown in the photos. We a family enjoyed it much. By the time we left 2 hours already flew by. The minus point is just one.....the parking around this area is just horrible. It would be better if you are willing to park just a little further and take a walk. We had much fun.

D R Seenivasagam Recreational Park, located in Ipoh and overlooking the Kinta River, is a fantastic destination for families and travelers alike. The park offers lush picnic areas, sports fields, and a small lake with charming bridges. Visitors can take leisurely strolls along the pathways adorned with water ponds and green spaces while enjoying the shade of beautiful trees.
A nice place to have some brisk walk with family and friends. The best things is this place are last minute decision for our company getaway, and its really great experience. They got lot of space for our picnic activities, many spots for ootd, a small nice field for some telematch. The best part is they also have Boat ride and Train, which the staff there really helpful (We got discount from them🫣). Really suit to bring family and friends here

It's the oldest park in Ipoh, offers a peaceful retreat with its lush greenery and tranquil atmosphere. It’s perfect for a relaxing stroll, jog, or a quiet escape. However, some areas were rundown and show signs of neglect that could use better upkeep.
Chee S — Google review
Nice medium sized park. Fairly clean. Large paddle boats for rent on a small lake. Some gondolas on the bridges to sit and relax in the shade. A large soccer field and a place for skateboarders. A nice playground for kids, bathrooms, snack shops, and a train ride. Plenty of picnic benches scattered around the park and along the river there's a nice path to walk on and a few restaurants, stores for gifts and toys, and a bumper car ride. I was there on a Wed morning and most of everything was closed until the afternoon.

Suitable for jogging or brisk walk here as having pedestrian walkway, and a lot of field activities. Moreover, there is a bicycle service rental. Paddle boat activities including duck boats are available here too. There is an open amusement theater stage for doing open public activities. The landscape is also beautiful with shady trees. Children can enjoy a train ride rental that goes around the park and there are also a charming Japanese garden .

🌳 Overview & History Established in the 1950s and formerly known as Coronation Park, the park was renamed in honor of D. R. Seenivasagam, a prominent Ipoh lawyer and politician who served as MP from 1957 to 1969 . It spans about 30 acres ( ≈ 12 hectares) and sits alongside the Kinta River in Ipoh’s New Town . 🍀 Green Features & Ecological Role A prime example of urban green-space revitalization, it underwent rehabilitation and afforestation efforts from 2012–2021 to address flood risk, urban heat, noise, and promote biodiversity . The park now includes an artificial lake with wooden bridges, nursery areas, cycling paths, playground zones, bamboo groves, and even greenhouse-based vegetable plots . --- ✨ Attractions & Facilities Football fields: Two large open fields host training sessions and community matches . Children’s playground & traffic-themed cycle track: Ideal for safe, fun kids’ rides. Bicycle rentals are available onsite . Japanese Garden: A tranquil mini-garden inspired by Fukuoka, featuring carp ponds and a pavilion—though it has undergone various renovation phases . Picnic shelters & scenic footbridges: Perfect spots for family gatherings and casual strolls, popular also for photography sessions and light events .

Great park. More to this park than what you see. If you walk around lots of water and scenery. This place has workout equipment, a skate park and both scooter and bike rental. Also a special part of the park has a Japanese park that is part of a sister project to a place in Japan. This park is worth the trip. Also it is connected to the river walk. Food and even better scenery.

the place was listed one of the tourist attractions. but when i reach there, only god knows how disappointed i am with that place. are majlis bandaraya ipoh forget to take care of this place? im not going to blame one party only since i think there's people who forgot to clean up their mess and now it became like just got struck by earthquake. confetti and homeless everywhere, secret garden(which technically like a illegal planting), ugly lake and rubbish everywhere, playground like a haunted asylum and so many more. please take a good care of this place cause i was struggle myself to get a good pic. luckily im so good at taking pictures lol

Nestled amidst Ipoh's famous limestone hills and lakes, this village offers a glimpse into Chinese Malaysian heritage through traditional architecture, artifacts, antiques, and sculptures. Visitors can enjoy hikes and biking while immersing themselves in the rich cultural exhibits on display.
This place is an absolute gem for tourists! I had an incredible time exploring it. The area is steeped in rich culture, and hiking the small hill was such a unique experience, especially with all the antiques scattered along the trail. The scenery is breathtaking, with a serene lake and fascinating caves to discover. The murals on the walls add an artistic charm to the surroundings, making the walk even more enjoyable. For those who prefer cycling, there are shared bicycles available, which is a thoughtful touch and perfect for soaking in the beauty of the place at your own pace. Overall, it’s a stunning destination and definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend experiencing this at least once!

Really enjoyed this place and definitely think it’s worth a visit, entrance fee is 12RM for locals or 20RM for foreigners. Spent about about 1.5 - 2 hours looking around, you also have the option of using bikes to bike around which are free of charge (so much fun ) and if it’s to hot for you they also have hats you can use as long as you return to when you got from. Enjoyed looking round the different areas. You can purchase bags of fish food for 1RM to feed as you walk around In he lakes, also saw a turtle.

Amazing place for tourist, we had a great time here, it's very rich in culture and great experience to be hiking a small hill with a lot of antiques on the side of the hill. We can walk around the lake and caves, there were some murals on the side. There's even a shared bicycle provided for anyone who wants to ride along the way. Overall really worth the experience and a beautiful place. Would recommend to come at least once.

It was a beautiful place with scenic view. Ticket per entry for adult is RM12 pax You can opt to feed fish here by buying the fish food at RM1 per pack. I spent more than an hour here just on exploring. Some family opted to ride a huge bicycle, which looks fun. Definitely worth a visit for any first-timers here.

It is a very interesting place to visit. The park provides 2 and 4 seater bicycles, which are included in the entry fees. The boss likes to collect antiques, and these are placed all over the parks. Going into the pace is like going back in time, and people born the 60s and early 70s in Singapore and Malaysia will appreciate more. Recommended and worth the ticket price.

Best museum experience ever! Plus the walk throughout the old street area was such an experience! Also, there's an uncle who sells drinks and ice-cream, get the orange ice-cream u guys, it's so yum especially after the long walks u spend in the area, definitely need some of it! That's a hiking area, which i think they close during the rainy season. But overall it's nice!!!

For travellers who visit Ipoh, this destination definitely is a must-go. The ticket price for local adults is RM12. There are quite a number of activities you can do inside the area such as riding trishaw, cycling two people bicycles, hiking small lane, feeding fishes and so on. The landscape of this place is simply superb and magnificent. The view is exhilarating. It is a suitable place to temporarily calm your mind. The big pond surrounded by hills has a clean and clear water, where you can see fishes are swimming freely. No matters kids, adults or elders can come here.

Ok place to hang out with maybe family, kids and parents. It’s simple and they have made an effort to capture the history of the town. I think tourists would be disappointed a bit. But I enjoyed the change of scenery. The fish in the ponds are huge! The caves are nice from the outside but not much to see on the inside.

The Birch Memorial Clock Tower, erected in 1909 as a tribute to James W.W. Birch, the inaugural British Resident of Perak, stands as a significant historical landmark offering insights into the colonial history of Perak. The tower features four distinct panels depicting the evolution of civilization from the Stone Age to the Renaissance.
**A Tower of Time and Reflection – Visiting the Birch Memorial in Ipoh** Standing before the Birch Memorial Clock Tower in Ipoh feels like stepping into a page of history. Built in 1909 to honor James W.W. Birch, the first British Resident of Perak, the tower is a striking relic of colonial architecture. Located near the Ipoh State Mosque, it rises with Victorian grace, capped with a clock on all four sides and topped with a weather vane. What makes this tower especially unique are the elaborate panels at its base. They depict 44 notable figures—from Confucius to Darwin—marking the evolution of human civilization. At the top, four statues represent core virtues: prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance, a symbolic reminder of values that transcend time. Being here stirred a real sense of appreciation. It’s more than just stone and symbolism—it’s a lens into our shared, complex past. I truly hope more people, especially the younger generation, take the time to visit and learn from this monument. It’s a piece of heritage that deserves to be remembered, talked about, and preserved. Appreciate you stopping by! Visiting the Birch Memorial in Ipoh felt like stepping into a layered chapter of history. On the surface, it’s a striking colonial clock tower — solid, dignified, and carefully crafted. But its presence tells a far more complicated story. Built in 1909 to honour J.W.W. Birch, the first British Resident of Perak, it was once a symbol of colonial power. Today, it stands quietly as a relic — not celebrated, but not erased either. It reminds us that history isn’t always heroic; sometimes, it’s contested, uncomfortable, and worth remembering.
Zazirash — Google review
James W. W. Birch—full name James Wheeler Woodford Birch—was the first British Resident in the state of Perak, stationed at Ipoh, beginning in November 1874, following the Pangkor Treaty that brought Perak under British influence . ⸻ 🏛️ Who Was James Birch? • Born 3 April 1826, Birch served in the Royal Navy and later became Colonial Secretary in Singapore before his appointment in Perak . • As Resident, he held executive power over revenue collection and administration—often sidelining local Sultan and chiefs. • Birch also aggressively pursued the abolition of slavery and restructured tax systems, actions that deeply offended traditional customs . ⸻ ⚔️ Controversy and Assassination • He quickly became unpopular with local elites who saw him as disrespectful and heavy-handed (). • On 2 November 1875, Birch was assassinated while bathing along the Perak River near Pasir Salak by warriors led by Dato’ Maharajalela (Pandak Lam) and his follower Sepuntum . • The killing triggered the Perak War, as the British launched military operations and eventually captured and executed the leaders involved . ⸻ 🕰️ The Birch Memorial Clock Tower in Ipoh • In 1909, a memorial clock tower was erected in Ipoh’s heritage square to honor Birch, costing around Straits $25,000 . • Features include: • A bronze bust (since removed), • Four bells and a mother bell chiming the hours . • Friezes depicting the “growth of civilization” and virtues—prudence, justice, fortitude, temperance—embodying British imperial ideals . ⸻ 🏞️ Modern Perception & Cultural Legacy • The tower remains a prominent colonial-era landmark and photo spot in Ipoh . • However, views on Birch vary: • In British discourse, he’s seen as a pioneering colonial administrator. • Many Malays regard Dato’ Maharajalela, his assassin, as a folk hero resisting British control . • The dual-naming of nearby streets—Jalan Dato Maharajalela and Jalan Dato Sagor—reflects this layered history . ⸻ 📍 Visiting Today • The Birch Memorial Clock Tower stands in a quiet square near Ipoh Town Hall and the State Mosque. • It’s a great starting point for a heritage walk in Ipoh’s old quarter. • Interpretive plaques explain its background and the colonial legacy it represents . ⸻ Summary James Birch’s story is a potent mix of colonial ambition, cultural conflict, and historical uprising. His legacy lives on through the iconic clock tower—but local narratives also honor the resistance that his death sparked. It’s a compelling lens through which to explore Ipoh’s layered history and identity.

Gunung Lang Recreational Park is a serene and spacious park in Ipoh, offering a tranquil atmosphere with its beautiful lake, boat rides, and manmade waterfall. Families visiting Ipoh should consider this park as one of the top attractions, providing ample green spaces, lush trees, and picturesque water ponds for leisurely walks and quality time with loved ones. The park also offers numerous areas to relax and unwind amidst nature's beauty.
I love this place despite people mentioned it being mediocre and boring. The boat ride is rm 3 and quite spacious to walk around (30 min to 1 hour), many places in the island is photogenic and beautiful but very stuffy and humid in there. There is an abandoned campsite at the West from the boat loading point, can be adventurous but be careful if your sixth sense is off, leave the campsite immediately. Have fun exploring the park!
Wen — Google review
What an absolute joke of a so-called “attraction.” You get hyped up thinking it’s going to be something worth the trip, only to be dumped on a rickety little boat for a whopping one-minute ride across the lake — and that’s the highlight. The destination? A lifeless, soulless excuse for a park that looks like it hasn’t seen a single ounce of care or thought in years. No animals, no interesting features, just sad empty cages and random patches of nothing. Whoever decided to call this a tourist spot must have a very creative imagination… or a very dark sense of humor. The only remotely nice thing was the scenery during the micro-boat ride, and even that felt like a consolation prize for the money and time wasted. Calling this an “attraction” is insulting to actual attractions. Honestly, you could get more entertainment watching paint dry. Complete waste of time, energy, and expectation. Wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy.
Khairul M — Google review
Nothing much to do here unless you got half day to kill and nothing else to do. 5 minutes boat ride and the place is quite dull. Lot of animal cages but empty inside. The scenery is typical Ipoh's limestone scenery and typical walk in the park experience.
Shazwan H — Google review
Gunung Lang offers a peaceful escape with beautiful natural scenery, especially the limestone hills and lake views. The boat ride is a nice touch and adds to the relaxing atmosphere. However, the park does feel a bit old and could use some refreshing. When we visited, the staff mentioned that some attractions are still under upgrading, so hopefully there will be improvements soon. Overall, it’s a decent spot for a short visit or a quiet walk, especially if you enjoy nature. Just don’t expect too many activities at the moment.
Iris Y — Google review
At rm3 and rm1.5 per entry for adults and seniors 55 years old and above, respectively - this small little park, built from a used-tin mining pool offers a 3 minutes, two way ferry ride of about 20 passengers that brings visitors from a small jetty crossing over the pool to an area with just a handful of mini attractions such as the Perak House, Adabi House, a single porcupine enclosed within a cage as its companion had died of old age while all other animals have been relocated to the petting zoo within walking distance which has its own entrance fees. The small area is infested with over 300 monkeys and walking around takes about 40 minutes with nothing much to see really. No food is sold within here as the monkeys can get pretty hostile. You can opt for a 5 mins tram ride for rm7 to skip all the walk. The best attraction to me was feeding the huge Toman fishes and turtle at the jetty before entrance point where you can buy bread for the fish without paying the entrance fees and the ferry ride.
Jason K — Google review
For folks coming here first time. You absolutely need to take the boat to go to the "island" area, no other road to go there. Rm3 for adult, and rm1.5 seniors, don't remember about kids. You need to queue to wait to get on the boat, there was only one boat moving when I was there. Ride is about 2min, back is free. For the waterfall, it is at the entrance area, but it was not operational when I went there, so basically no waterfall, then I saw the board there was an operation hours for the waterfall. So I am not sure it has permenabtly stopped operation or because of the operation hours. There are wild monkeys on the island roaming freely. They are wild monkey so don't joke around, DO NOT TAKE OUT ANY FOOD. The is a cart ride rm7 per person. The cart ride cover the whole island. The cave entrance has been restricted, if you go there, your safety are your own. Cart won't go to restricted or closed areas. Walking on feet might take about 45min or more depending on your pace to cover the island. The other animal had been completely moved to the petting zoo, nearby the entrance. So it is not at the island, I felt a bit conned because it is a separate fee. There was one senior hedgehog cagged at the island, pity the fellow is alone there. Camping area at the island has been closed because of monkey incidents. The cart guide said they will opening a paintball area, cycling, flyingfox, and some other two thing I don't remember next year. So overall I still rate 4 star, despite being disappointed on other factors, because the scene was very nice during cross the boat for the money I paid. Also the people working here might be earning pennies, so I don't want to be merciless in my rating.
Ravin S — Google review
The park has the potential to be 5 stars but it is not being maintained and it looks like its being abandoned. The monkeys can be very aggressive. One jumped on my back to get a water bottle on the side of my backpack. DON'T have anything visible. We watched a few of the take peoples drinks etc....the boat ride is short and the only option to get to the land portion where the short walking paths and monkeys are.
Erik M — Google review
We enjoyed ourselves... mind you, I also enjoy visiting the dentist. 🙄 The park was pleasant enough, but had clearly seen better days. The numerous animal shelters had only one live porcupine, and it may have been stuffed as it didn't move much, even though I told it a very funny joke about a ferret. The mosquitoes were particularly friendly towards my companion, and the toilets in the far corner resembled a haunted house, but aside from those few atrocities, the afternoon at Gunung Lang Rec Park was sunny, cool, aesthetically pleasing and in the vicinity of a 6/10 experience.

The market offers a unique shopping experience with its retro-style shops and stores, featuring handicrafts, antiques, jewels, ornaments, and clothing. Visitors can also enjoy the famous 'white coffee' and other local cuisines at Kong Heng Kopitiam. The Ho Yan Hor Museum is a tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Ho Kai Cheong, the creator of a renowned Chinese herbal tea brand. The museum showcases his journey from humble beginnings to building a successful business empire. Visitors can explore artifacts related to the creation of the herbal tea, including original documents handwritten by Dr. Ho himself. Additionally, the museum reveals 20 out of 24 ingredients used in the original tea recipe, keeping five ingredients as a mystery.
I recently visited Ho Yan Hor in Ipoh and loved the heritage tour—it was fascinating to learn about this iconic Malaysian brand’s history, founded in 1941 by Dr. Ho Kai Cheong. The tour covered: ✔ Origins of the herbal tea (made from 100% natural herbs) ✔ How the family business grew from a small business to a household name ✔ Traditional vs. modern production The best part? Tasting their signature herbal tea and variants —refreshing, aromatic, and perfect for relieving heatiness. The original brew was my favorite! Highly recommended for anyone in Ipoh! Don’t miss their tea products in stores too!

Free entrance. Must do online booking beforehand. Can choose language, the assigned tour guide will be with you for around 5mins, you’ll be then free and easy to self walk around in the museum for around 10mins. Lastly, you’ll be served with few flavour of their herbal tea for free, optional to buy.
ShookFun W — Google review
This live museum is quite a gem, as it is set in the original house of the historical figure it represents, making the storytelling feel more authentic. The guide will walk you through the key history, then let you explore freely at your own pace. The place is not very big, but it’s enough to capture the essence of the story. At the back, there’s an old kitchen where you’re greeted by a sweet, tea-like aroma even before stepping inside. Do note that the staircase is narrow and only fits one person at a time, so you may need to wait your turn to go up or down. At the end of the tour, the guide serves four small cups of tea as samples, simply for the experience, no pushy sales tactics here. If you’re interested, they’ll politely suggest looking for the products online or at a general pharmacy, which is refreshing compared to the usual touristy hard-sell approach. It’s best to reserve in advance since they manually register guests in a book for each time slot to avoid overcrowding.

Great museum telling stories of Mr Ho who creates this herbal tea and his stories. It's in this century old building, where he stays and the place of him to sell his first herbal tea. At the end, comes with a free tasting session. 10 people max per entrance so book in advance.

Located in the middle of the town. Recommended to take a ride there since apparently it's not very pedestrian friendly. And it's hot. There's a specified spot for e-hailing, so don't get confused. Parkings are limited. Building is old and maintenance is definitely minimal despite it being a historical structure. Some vendors are setting up shop in and outside the train station. There used to be a hotel way back when, but don't know if it was operational in modern time. Prayer rooms are inside the waiting room, past the haunted looking stairs. Counter opens from 04:00 a.m. - 09:00 p.m. Waiting room is not very big, but at least there's fans blowing. Seats are plenty, though they're not for resting. People arriving from Kuala Lumpur and trying to exit the station is… crowded and hilarious. There's only 4 gates and tourists generally don't know how to queue or use the gate. Entering the gate on the other hand is quite peaceful since the train has not arrived yet. Restrooms are… surprisingly modern, though definitely need more maintenance. Was told that the woman's restroom had a leek. Place could definitely be haunted with the worn town paint and mold.

I recently stopped by Ipoh Railway Station during a trip through Perak, and it’s easily the busiest train hub north of Kuala Lumpur, serving as a key stop on the ETS line connecting to Penang and beyond. Built in 1917, this grand structure boasts stunning British colonial architecture with Moorish influences—think white domes, arches, and intricate facades that earned it the nickname “Taj Mahal of Ipoh.” It’s a fantastic spot for photos, especially the exterior against the manicured gardens and the iconic “IPOH” compass on the ground. Though it feels small by modern standards, it’s well-equipped to handle passengers given the relatively low train frequency. Facilities include clean toilets, a small cafe for quick bites and drinks, a convenience store, manual ticket counters, and self-service vending machines for easy purchases. There are also small elevators to access the platforms, making it accessible despite the historic design. The station is clean and organized, with lockers available for storage. Overall, it’s a charming blend of history and functionality, perfect for travelers or history buffs. No frills, but efficient and photogenic—highly recommend snapping some shots while waiting for your train. 4 stars for its heritage appeal and practicality.

Government needs to upgrade the facilites. It was hot, leaking everywhere and the stalls oh god. Do not buy anything from the ice cream shop here, unless you want to be treated like trash by the owner. She treats as if we are begging her for money when we are the ones buying from her. Super rude. Do not recommend at all

Beautiful railway station with colonial charm. We took the train to go to KL from Ipoh which is nice and comfortable.

The main and only railway station in Ipoh. It has many years of history. Has been refurbished from those days where trains run without ac. Now it's very convenient to go everywhere from here. Up north to Butterworth or down south to Johor. Kudos to KTMB for providing the train services for all. We can have an option not to drive or take bus which is never punctual depending on traffic on the road. Only thing is, there is charges for using the toilet at this station. I wonder why? KL Sentral doesn't charge commuters for this. Maybe they should provide more food option for commuters too. Now just some stall selling snack.
Jac Y — Google review
This review is just about the luggage storage at the station :) there is luggage storage for big suitcases! But you need to bring 5 and 10 ringgit notes! No one in the station will give you change for bigger notes that I could find :( please be aware. When you enter the station , you can find luggage storage on the left side of the building by prayer rooms. 3-4 lockers were free each time we went in midweek 24 October. There are four very large lockers that will fit a big suitcase and some smaller lockers too. Each one costs 10rmb which you convert into tokens. You can only open them once.

Art Of Oldtown Bijeh Timah is a captivating collection of seven stunning murals spread throughout Ipoh. These 3D wall paintings offer a glimpse into the town's history, culture, and local flair. The murals are located in various areas such as Jalan Bandar, Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Jalan Panglima, and Concubine Lane 3.
It's like a 3D museum in the street..The environment, equipments and paintings would remind you your childhood..There is also food stalls around the place to relieve your hunger..Children will definitely get attracted to the colourful lights and cartoon dolls and pictures...Overall a good place to go for a stroll during the evening with family and friends 😀

This was the best place to take selfies with the creative paintings on the walls. There are different stories behind the paintings and different way of each artists expressed themselves. Some of the paintings may lighten up our childhood memories. The art walks are located along the narrow lanes which connect to the busy main roads. The art walks supposed to be an enjoyable walk and safe for pedestrians. Somehow, today I witnessed a mini truck driver that drove recklessly around a corner (when turning from main road to the narrow lane) almost ran over a tourist. Luckily, one of his friends spotted the speed of mini truck and shouted out loud. For those who are interested, the mini truck has a license plate with PPB7678 (as shown in the pic). Even after the near missed incident, the driver kept on honking on other pedestrians as if the driver trying to meet the delivery deadline. Hope my beloved art lovers be aware of this and watch out for any incoming vehicles when visiting the art walks.

Coffee shop
Breakfast restaurant
Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong, located in Ipoh Old Town, is a must-visit for those seeking an authentic experience of the popular Ipoh white coffee. This humble cafe has been serving its rich and aromatic coffee since 1937, making it a beloved spot for over 80 years. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a bustling atmosphere and can join locals in savoring their coffee alongside Danzhi, which is toast topped with a creamy boiled egg.
One of the famous traditional coffee shops in Ipoh👏👏 A great place to experience the local food culture. Prices are reasonable and the location is right in the city center👍😃
Philip — Google review
This old-school coffee shop is buzzing with locals and tourists, creating a lively atmosphere. We enjoyed classic toast bread and iconic Ipoh white coffee, both of which were delicious. Friendly and efficient staff and did not miss any orders.. A great spot to soak up the local culture.
Derek N — Google review
Good old school vibe, friendly staffs (all foreign workers) and beautiful lady boss, white coffee c is awesome here but lack of the typical white coffee foam, wantan mee is very much below average, the porky smell a bit too strong and the wantan with soup was cold and meat was not so fresh. The roti bakar here is also pretty much below average. Overall pretty lackluster experience, prefer the opposite shop Nam Heong Coffee Shop more, which has a much better selection of food prepared by local Malaysians
Chuah P — Google review
This coffee shop is my go to in Ipoh. It has an old school coffee shop vibe and atmosphere. Highlights and tips: - Highly recommend coming here earlier part of the morning as the temperatures are more pleasant. - Orders are placed in person. Food at the food stalls where it is possible to order food from nearby shops/ stalls if they didnt have that food item in this shop. Drinks orders are taken at the table. All food and drinks items to be paid when delivered. - I paid in cash for all my ordered items. - The white coffee did taste a little different to when I was last here (bout 2 years ago) though still strong and rich in flavour. It was probably a bit more milky in flavour than I last remembered it. - The ice lime tea was nice. The tea and lime were both very fragrant. - The Portuguese Tart was good. Not too sweet, good flake for the pastry and good texture overall. - The wanton mee and char siew (a.k.a bbq pork) is my top favourite. Love the char and sweetness of the bbq pork. Love the fact too that we could order extra meat. As much as I would have loved to have just the bbq pork, they only sell it with the noodles. - The roast pork (a.k.a siew yoke) was ok. Not stellar and not a standout. - The char kuey teow was decent. It was from across the road from another coffee shop. - The kaya toast was passable. This one I would give a miss. I have had better in a number of places. I think this place is worth giving a go with the white coffee and wanton mee as the order items.
J F — Google review
The coffee was mediocre. My first experience with an iconic white coffee giant was disappointing and sad. The kaya toast had not enough kaya and the soft boiled eggs on taste was a flop. I guess the reason why people hype about this place was probably due to their long history of serving traditional coffee and toast. The only saving grace was the wanton Mee with was 5 stars. Otherwise, I do not recommend their coffee and toast
Jeremy C — Google review
Old school coffee shop. I still prefer it to the rival across the street . Limited food choices but the roast pork belly is worth it and less waiting then the opposite shop. The wonton noodles actually had char siew with some caramelized fat. Lovely!! White coffee is still the best.
Sarah T — Google review
We wanted to go 南香茶室which is opposite this coffee shop. But the Q is too long so we came here. The coffee and tea is good, 猪肠粉,烧腊good. Don't order the bread, not good. must know that you actually can order the Prawn mihood from 南香and they will bring over here. very good must try.
Low K — Google review
Very crowded area in the morning. Need to wait for space. Roast pork and ipoh white coffee is, not so sweet. The meat floss with salted egg not very good, egg tart was very bad, pudding not bad but not fragrant

Tasik Cermin, or Mirror Lake, is a must-visit destination in Ipoh that promises an enchanting escape into nature. Nestled among stunning limestone karst formations, this hidden gem offers a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation and photography. Once an abandoned quarry, it is now evolving into Malaysia's first Eco Adventure Quarry Park, showcasing shimmering waters and impressive cliffs. Visitors can enjoy complimentary parking and access the lake through a captivating tunnel after purchasing their entry ticket.
Great place for families with kids! We enjoyed the petting zoo and the small activities they offer for children. The place is well-maintained, and the team was very attentive. Highly recommended for a half-day trip.

Tasik Cermin 1 is such a serene and picturesque spot! The crystal-clear lake perfectly reflects the surrounding limestone hills, creating an almost magical mirror-like scene. The area is well maintained and easy to explore, making it a peaceful escape from the busy city. Walking around the lake, I felt completely relaxed and connected to nature, and it was the perfect place for photography lovers. The natural beauty combined with the calm atmosphere makes it a truly refreshing experience. Visiting Tasik Cermin 1 brought me joy and a sense of tranquility — definitely a hidden gem worth spending a few hours to enjoy
Tina P — Google review
Not recommended. Entrance fee is RM 7 for malaysians, RM 12 for non malaysians. Walk through a short tunnel then you will see the lake. Come at a time when there is no reflection. We stayed for 10mins only. Boat ride is RM 25 for 20mins
Ngee Q — Google review
Tasik Cermin 1 requires an entrance ticket. Prices are as follows: after buying the ticket, you walk through a 90m tunnel, then for the second attraction tasik cermin 2 and you need take a boat RM25 per adult. Paying RM4 just to walk a 90m tunnel, I honestly don’t think it’s worth it. Even visiting cave temples feels like better value. If you’re looking for a special experience, then maybe come, but if it’s just for taking photos, I’d say it’s not really necessary. 🎫 Entrance Fee: Malaysian Citizens – RM4 Non-Malaysians – RM12 Children under 90cm – Free OKU (persons with disabilities) – Free

A hidden gem in Ipoh! Tasik Cermin 1 is a small but very beautiful spot, surrounded by limestone cliffs with calm, mirror-like water that makes for stunning photos. The peaceful atmosphere makes it a nice quick stop if you’re in the area. The place is simple and not overly crowded, so you can enjoy the natural scenery quietly. Worth a short visit for nature lovers and photo enthusiasts.
Viet L — Google review
We visited Tasik Cermin 1 in Ipoh, the entrance fee for Malaysian is RM7. After entering, you walk through a tunnel and it opens up to a beautiful lake view. If you want to sit on the boat, it’s an extra RM25, but we just went in to take some pictures. The scenery is quite nice and peaceful, but honestly RM7 feels a bit pricey just for the view. Overall, if you’re really interested in nature spots or taking photos, can come and experience. If not, just looking at pictures might be enough.

✨ Tasik Cermin, Ipoh ✨ A true hidden gem in Ipoh 🏝️. The scenery is absolutely stunning, surrounded by limestone cliffs ⛰️ and calm crystal-clear waters 💧. It really feels like stepping into another world — perfect for photography 📸✨. There are actually two crystal lakes here – Tasik Cermin 1 (with a short walk + optional boat ride 🚤) and Tasik Cermin 2 (direct by boat). Both are equally beautiful, but many visitors only know about the second one. If you explore a little further, you’ll find the first lake too 😉. 💡 Tip: The lake is very deep, so do be careful 🙏. If you’re in Ipoh, this is definitely a must-visit spot! 🌟
Akmalyaya_ — Google review
Have so many photo spots. Gotta catch em all. I admin the entrance fee is cheap for Malaysian, but why the hell I have to pay 10x the price of entrace to get on the boat, to circle around the lake. Not approved. Just make it cheaper for Malaysian. 😖 Not approved at all. The tunnel is quite scary tbh. There's 3 ghost/djinns inside there. One at the middle of tunnel, and 2 at the photo shoot near crocodile. Not to mention at the lake. Way too make ghost/djinns. Don't bring your kids or babies that can see them.

If you’re a book lover looking for a unique experience, make sure to visit BookXcess Kong Heng in Ipoh. This charming bookstore is housed in a former bank, adding an intriguing twist to your literary adventure. Opened in April 2019, it creatively utilizes the old bank vaults and safety deposit boxes as bookshelves, making it feel like stepping into an art installation rather than just another bookstore.
BookXcess is really popular, serving great-deals of many popular books that every time they hold an event, many books are easily sold out. Earlier, the Little Prince and Secret Garden books were on demand. Luckily I got those books here for a very CHEAP price. A lot of books that were still in normal price in other stores are discounted here. I hope I can visit this store again someday.

BookXcess is a book lover’s paradise! The store is beautifully designed, spacious, and filled with a wide range of books at really affordable prices. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy reading or are looking for thoughtful gifts.

Sunway Lost World Theme Park offers a unique experience with its natural mineral hot springs that glow at night in a jungle setting. The park also features a petting zoo and bistro for visitors to enjoy. While the area is generally quiet at night, it's important to keep valuables close due to occasional snatch thefts. Despite being on the pricier side, the park provides an enjoyable way for families to spend time together after dark.

Googly — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to this theme park, especially the hot spring pool—it was the best part for us, as we could relax in the warm water after a day of fun. Surprisingly, we also loved their mini zoo. They had a wide variety of animals like capybaras, ponies, zebras, giraffes, hippos, and guinea pigs. Our favorite was the bird zone, where you could walk inside a giant aviary and interact closely with the birds. They also have a tiger feeding show in the afternoon. However, just like many other theme parks in Malaysia, the park was super hot in the afternoon, the food options were limited and overpriced, and some water pools didn’t seem very hygienic.
Kee K — Google review
Hotsprings are not that hot. They say it’s 40+ degrees celsius, but I think with the high number of people at the park, it is actually well below that. There was one pool that was actually warm, but still not that hot. If you ask me, don’t bother.

Great change of pace family activity, and a great way to cool down at the end of a hot Malaysian day! Do your sightseeing during the day and go to Lost World in the late afternoon, early evening. And this place has all the details covered: retail, food/beverage, lockers, showers, and a bit of entertainment. Very picturesque setting, with the park built nestled alongside some of Malaysia's tall limestone cliffs. Prices reasonable too at least in comparison to themeparks in the USA. On the other hand, heavily used men's shower/toilet/changing room did have underlying urine smell which raises cleanliness question, or at least the frequency with which housekeeping staff cleans the area. Never the less, it's worth making Lost World part of your visit, IMO.

Old Town Kitchen Cafe in Ipoh has undergone a revitalization, making it a delightful place to explore. The cafe offers affordable prices and a clean, pleasant ambiance with friendly staff. The food portions are generous and delicious, particularly the dry chili pan mee and nasi lemak. Despite some minor issues like leaking during rain, the owner is proactive in addressing them. With fast service and ample parking after 8pm, this cafe is worth multiple visits for its marvelous and reasonably priced food offerings.
I visited here on ramadhan days with my colleagues. I would say this shop specialties are the noodles. I love it a lot. While the rice dish are standard but the price is student friendly. The staff are really friendly and i had some little talk with the owner, he was a very bright person. The place is nice and like an old but modern like theam. Tbh I don’t mind the looks of the shop im just the for the food and affordable price. Haha. Today is my second time here but didn’t get to take the picture of my food, i was so hungry. The last thing i know it was already finished. Haha. Thank you and i will surely be back

The food served was delicious and full of flavor. The atmosphere was pleasant and the space was spacious, making it a comfortable place to dine. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food, definitely good value for money. However, there are a couple of areas that could be improved. The cleanliness of the restrooms needs more attention, and the customer service could be warmer. A friendlier attitude and a few smiles from the staff would go a long way in enhancing the dining experience. Overall, still a pleasant place to eat and I’d rate it a solid 4/5. Worth a visit! 👍🏼

Varieties of food choices. Price not bad. I tried the Chilli Pan Mee and I think the taste is acceptable. But the ambiance and atmosphere is cozy for chit chat. But if you are rushing between lunch, maybe not suitable, as the service is slightly slow. I received my order 15-29 mins upon order. All and all, not a bad place to hang out and a good place to eat.
NaRa W — Google review
Let me start this off with, no one forced me to review, no one asked me to write this, But i feel like i need to, It looks like an average ipoh cafe from the outside, maybe a little rustic and unassuming, but stepping inside, it felt like home. Felt like i got back to my favorite hometown and ate my grandma’s fried rice. I had to admit, i wasn’t in my best emotional nor mental state these past few days due to work, But stumbling upon this shop, felt like god sent. The food is good and warm, the servers were quick, it gets busy in the afternoon, but they’ll try to seat you as best as they could. I almost had an emotional breakdown at work, and i was contemplating on smashing my head against the toilet sink. But i calmed myself down and drove to this place again, sat down, ordered my favorite ice lime jelly, and it felt like.. i’m at peace, my head cleared, all my problems doesn’t seem so big. And the ice lime jelly? It was perfect, and i ordered tomyum fried rice, that too was perfect I think i’m a bit of a picky eater, so i placed an order without vegetables or shrimp, Usually restaurants would ignore it, then they’ll claim they didn’t see the notes, i don’t usually mind those. But they didn’t ignore it, and the fried rice was hella good. This review is a bit long, but, i hope any one of you who reads this, knows how much this place meant to me

Ipoh Kallumalai Arulmigu Subramaniyar Temple, established in 1930, is a serene Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. Nestled near DR Seenivasagam Park and a limestone cliff, the temple offers a tranquil atmosphere for quiet reflection and appreciation of the natural surroundings. Visitors can capture breathtaking views from the terrace against the cliffs.
This is my first time visiting the temple and I really like the architecture of this temple, it is very beautiful. Also the environment here is very peaceful and we can see peacocks.

To visit it from the road side I had to cross railways and came trough back gates. There are many monkeys around but they did behave good. Small devi temple with Mahavidya goddesses are near. The temple itself represent South Indian tradition of Kartileya and Murugan devotion. Also big lingam statue was there near the roch and Mahadev statue up the rock with yogis. In front of lingam there is Shiv vahana of Nandi and small pound. And Hanuman ji statue little in front. Thereis some Indian settlement around

Went there on an off peak time. Weekday before deepavali. No wait, no issues with parking, temple was quiet. Priest and temple counter staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of interesting flowers around. There are peacocks and peahens to show to children, albeit being in an enclosure. Very beautiful animals and they look healthy. A few really cute doggys are protected by the temple too and they walk around freely inside the temple compounds. Majority of hindu gods seen in amman / muruga / shivan temples can be seen here.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spiritually rich, serene, and full of kind hearts Kallumalai Arulmigu Subramaniyar Temple is a sacred and peaceful place nestled at the base of Ipoh’s limestone cliffs. The vibrant gopuram and tranquil surroundings make it perfect for prayer and reflection. When I arrived, a loud banger went off as part of temple rituals — quite startling but part of the vibrant atmosphere. I also had the chance to light three oil lamps, which was a deeply moving experience. While ascending the barefoot-only tiled steps, I unfortunately tripped and injured my foot. The steps can be a little slippery, so please be cautious. What touched me most was the priest’s kindness — he immediately attended to me and gently administered first aid. It was a beautiful act of care that I won’t forget. Also: no monkeys around, making for a calm, undisturbed visit. 🙏 A truly divine and welcoming place. Highly recommended — just walk carefully and enjoy the blessings.

Kallumalai Sri Subramaniyar Temple—also known locally as Kallumalai Murugan Temple—is a vibrant Hindu shrine nestled at the base of a limestone hill in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Founded in 1889 inside a cave in Gunong Cheroh. Following a tragic rockfall in 1926, worship shifted to the current location. The sanctum and shrines were fully reconstructed by 1932, with later expansions including shrines to Ganesha and the Goddess (1970).

Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreation Park is a spacious green area with various amenities such as picnic tables, a playground, and vendors selling frozen desserts. Visitors can engage in activities like cycling, jogging, and flying kites along the walkways while also enjoying access to a badminton court. The park hosts live performances in its mini-concert hall at night. It offers a large field, playground, exercise equipment, jogging tracks, ponds, and big trees for visitors to enjoy.
Went here for a morning walk on the weekend. Loved the park. Some parts were shady and some were pretty hot. The loop has few options too. Overall, we would definitely come back again for the ambiance. As expected, many people filled the park. Just be careful while you're on the go.

The good: 1) The running track is well lit, which is especially helpful for those who can only work out in the evenings. 2) There are CCTVs installed along the running track, offering an added sense of security. 3) The park is generally clean. 4) The park remains pleasantly busy into the evening, with some makeshift stalls selling toys & kids skating on the open concreate space. The not-so-good: 1) Some sections of the running track (particularly the area near the lake) are poorly lit due to the broken lights.

Excellent place for morning exercise. Wonderful scenery too. Many choices of exercise like tai chi, Nesh Water exercise, dancing, roller skating, jogging or just walking. Nice lake with rubberised track too. More staff to up now to upkeep the place. More trees planted. The futsal park repaired. The jogging track around the lake has been repaved.

I loved everything about the park. Mainly came here to play roller skating with my friends. But I was so jealous looking at the kid’s rides that was awesome..hahaha very lively place. All the rides were clean and in very good condition. The roller skate management team is one of the best teams i’ve seen in Malaysia. They were all around fantastic!! Friendly, respectful, super super polite, safety at all times and gives you a quick training on playing too. All the blades were new looking, comfortable and comes with new socks. The staffs takes care of you from helping you to wear the shoes to make sure you are protected with knee pads to taking them off when you are done. Best service ever!! Thanks guys! You are so so professional!

Ipoh Night Market is a bustling and vibrant evening destination, open from 4pm until midnight. With around 60 to 70 food stalls offering a variety of local delicacies such as satay skewers and nasi lemak, it's a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The market also features clothing stalls, fairground games, and even a go-karting track.
Last night, I visited Uptown, and it was an awesome experience! There are so many food stalls with endless choices—seriously, you’ll find every type of food you can think of! From local delights to unique snacks, everything looked and tasted amazing. It’s also a great spot for families, with plenty of play areas for kids to have fun while you explore the stalls. The atmosphere is lively, with lots of people and music, making it a great place to hang out with friends or family. Overall, it’s a must-visit if you’re looking for good food and a fun vibe! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

The place has free parking and is pretty clean. There's a decent amount of stalls but not everything was open on our visit and it felt a little dead. They did have live music for a little bit. The jus buah stall is not fresh juice, but a premade syrup with mostly ice. Can't reduce sweetness due to being premade. Whilst cooking and refreshing, I'd prefer a smoothie/fresh juice stall. I had the nasi kerabu daging. It was ok but I have had better (nasi kerabu mekla). Perhaps it's busier on the weekend and has more fo a vibe? I'd be open to coming again and trying some other food stalls.

Visited this place through the good reviews by others. Reached here at 630pm on Wed and the entire huge place was like a ghost town. This place is huge but 3/4 of the shop lots are not tenanted. The other shops apparently open around 730pm. The only area that was buzzing with people is the food street. I asked one of the shop owner and she shared that the rental is high and difficult sustain. This will be my first and last visit.

Initial "research" brought us to this "night market" which was akin to a ghost town. The only possible decent anything from this place that attracted us, was the aromas wafting from a stall grilling Otak-Otak... We bought and we kinda regretted it. A couple of stray cats kept begging us for food and when I pinch half to feed it, it sniffed it and turned away... Yeah... A hungry stray and her kitten both rejected the otah... Avoid at all costs!
Floyd L — Google review
Hot even during night time. Big parking area but still limited due to many customers during weekends or public holiday. Price is higher but taste level at low side. If the taste is good for that price, it is acceptable. Most of the stalls are like that. This place is more for hype and trend, not a good place for having good meal. I will not come again. Unless my other family members want to try the experience.

Most attractions are within a small area in walking distance. There are restored old houses and museums. We visited the one about Chinese herbal drinks and found the content very interesting. There are many restaurants in the area to get a snack and lunch. There is also newer restaurant with the upper floor dedicated to collection of a marshal art master who played in action movies of the 60’s (yes that was way earlier than Bruce Lee and Jacky Chan). The collection includes material for lion dance and equipment for martial art training. It is not a big place but fun to watch

Restoran Tauge Ayam Lou Wong is a popular spot in Ipoh, known for its Ngar Choi Kai (Steamed Chicken with Beansprouts), a local specialty. Despite becoming touristy over the years, it attracts people from all walks of life. The enormous water tankards soaking beansprouts and the overflowing tables during dinner time reflect its popularity.
The is a well known chicken rice cafe in Ipoh. The cafe has no air conditioning and most of the tables are placed on the street (actually at the side of the road). So, if you are looking for a nice place to dine, this cafe may not suit you. Because of its name, it is quite busy even on weekdays. The dinner session starts at 6:00 pm and close when the foods are sold out. The staff are extremely efficient. Foods are normally sold out at 7:30 to 8:00 pm. Please be there at 6:00 pm if you want to try most of their signature dishes. The foods are not bad but I found it a bit salty. I also that the chickens are not free range chickens and hence the “taste of chicken” is rather light! The bean sprouts are good though!
Frank W — Google review
We have been a few times and it is one of our go to places for Ipoh chicken & bean sprouts. Here are some points bout this place and my dining experience: - Seats & tables are by the roadside or in the restaurant though limited tables. There is no air conditioning in the restaurant. For a more airy seating, the outdoor seating is better. - They have retractable awnings which will provide a level of protection if there is rain. - Order is placed with staff who will approach to take your order. It is stock standard service as you would expect. - Payment is by cash or e-payment. - Chicken is of firm texture. The sauce was a bit on the oily side. Flavour wise was pretty alright. - Bean sprouts too were a bit on the oily side. Flavour and texture wise was pretty good. - Sometimes there may be street vendors who approach diners selling their wares. I would come back but probably may need to tell them to cut down on the oil.
J F — Google review
I love the soya sauce based hor fun (order dry instead of soup). The texture of the noodles were soft and it absorbed the taste very well. Next, the pork ball was delicious too. The bean sprouts were crunchy and tasted sweet. The chicken was delicious but I think the person did not know how to chop the chicken nicely. The angle and the shape doesn't confirm to the normal on how chicken should be chopped! The chicken feet cold dish was ok only. Will skip this for sure!!
Sheue N — Google review
Succulent chicken that cooked to perfection and paired with nice soy based sauce to give it a rich umami saltiness. The rice is fragrant and fluffy albeit of the drier style instead of the oilier types common with chicken rice. Both the dry and soup based hor fun(rice noodles) are nicely done. Order based on your preference, the dry version is heavier in taste. The soy bean sprouts are plump and crunchy and is slightly undercooked giving it a taste similar to salad. This might be a bit of an acquired taste for those not used to it. Take note there is actually a queue system and it is not free seating. This is slightly confusing as there are minimal signage to highlight this.
Y S — Google review
Located in a central area popular with tourists. I visited around 6:30 pm and only waited about five minutes in line. As it was my first dine in visit, I wasn’t familiar with the menu, but the lady taking our order seemed quite busy and rushed, there wasn’t much time to look through it properly, I just made a quick choice and skipped the side dish. The chicken was smooth and tender, and the accompanying soy sauce had a unique, delicious flavor. Overall, I enjoyed the chicken rice, just wish service had been a little better.
Vanessa T — Google review
A very ordinary restaurant, I’d never go back. I was alone so found a table easily. Server came over and threw a menu on the table. Then came back and asked what I wanted to drink. I said Beer, but they don’t sell beer, so I oped for a hot Chinese tea. The tea came out, lukewarm, in a plastic cup, with a plastic straw! Horrible. The menu wasn’t big (despite the size of the restaurant) so I just ordered the Single Chicken and rice. He wanted to sell me beansprouts but I didn’t want any. Food came out quickly and the chicken was cold….not just warm, but cold. Thankfully the rice was hot which made the meal edible. The chicken tasted ok but half of it was just fat and bones. Lots of people there, obviously tourists like me. A local would never go there, certainly not twice. I won’t go back either.
Anthony B — Google review
Visited Lou Wong during my trip to Ipoh and tried their famous bean sprout chicken. The steamed chicken was tender and paired well with the crunchy bean sprouts and smooth hor fun. Service was fast despite the crowd, and the atmosphere felt lively and traditional. However, it was quite hot and crowded inside, and the food, while good, felt a bit overrated compared to other local spots. Still, it's worth a visit if you want to experience one of Ipoh’s iconic eateries.

Nam Thean Tong Temple is a quiet and modest cave temple located near other famous temples in Ipoh. The place has a peaceful atmosphere and some interesting statues and altars, but overall, it’s quite normal and not as visually striking as nearby temples like Perak Cave or Kek Lok Tong. It’s worth a short visit if you're already in the area, especially if you enjoy exploring cave temples, but don’t expect anything too grand or elaborate.

There are lots of signs warning not to feed the monkeys, so you can imagine there are many around and you’ll need to be careful. You can also buy fish feed for just RM1 a pack. Entrance is free.

The broth was rich, creamy, and full of flavor—just the right balance for someone like me who can’t handle overly spicy food but still enjoys a little kick. The curry came generously loaded with big, juicy cockles, which were absolutely delicious. What impressed me even more was the service. The owner was incredibly attentive—she went around offering free refills of the curry broth and genuinely made sure every customer was well taken care of. When she noticed I was wearing a white shirt, she thoughtfully handed me a plastic bib to protect it from splashes. Delicious food, warm hospitality, and thoughtful service—highly recommended

Ipoh Tong Sui Gai is really more about the lively atmosphere than anything else. Tried the mixed fruit ice at stall 27 — for RM11 the portion was generous, and though it usually comes with a scoop of ice cream, we skipped it. Stall 28’s grilled squid was a tasty snack to munch on while chatting, and Miss Rabbit’s satay was juicy and not dry at all, though the peanut sauce could have been better. Overall, fun spot if you’re here for the vibes and variety.

Ipoh Tong Sui Kai offers an authentic and delicious late-night hawker experience. Highlights include the creamy, richly flavoured Curry Noodle (especially at popular stalls like No. 26), and a satisfying Satay selection with yummy & soft meat, often paired with BBQ wings. The Fried Kway Teow is a solid choice for its 'wok hei' flavour, and the famously pungent Smelly Tofu provides a quintessential, crispy street food adventure, all available from evening until late. You must have a strong stomach!
Christopher H — Google review
The place is old and a bit quiet during Monday cos lots of the hawkers choose to rest on Monday. The place isn’t that conducive and hygiene can be improved a great deal. Selections of food is pretty good but neither of them standout against others. Would come back here next time during some weekend or holiday season to enjoy better vibe.

Headed to "Tong Shui Gai" to try the eateries we eyeballed and "bookmarked" the night before! The Rojak was very similar to our "Fruits Rojak" in Singapore, but they use Crackers instead of YouTiao, which was an interesting difference! They also drizzle a little Sesame Oil onto their Pidan, which actually ate well too! The other we tried here was their Curry Pig Skin Chee Chong Fun. Overall, not too different from what you would get back home. Simple and the "noodles" were silky. Lastly, [MrQ Chow Tofu] Smelly Tofu 😍. We could smell this from a distance away! And even though we were stuffed from dinner, we had to have one. This fella is a maestro in his own right. He does it Taiwanese style, but he fries his absolutely aromatic and fragrant tofu cubes in 2 ways. ½ with a crisp outside but with still a soft pillowy interior, and another just crispy. The chilli has a kick and those pickled cabbage on top of everything helps balance out the grease, and stench of the star!

A long stretch of food stalls (up to 50 stalls) along the road. Gets difficult if it’s raining because the shade is quite short extending over the main road. Pedestrians has to share road with the cars so be careful if you are traveling with young children or elderly. Beef noodles (stall 47) very distinct beef flavour but not too over powering. This stalls operate on Thursday to Saturday only and finishes by 7pm. Come early! Saw alot of locals eating from this stall. Beef ball RM1/ball. A bowl of noodles RM7/ bowl. Wan Tan Mee (stall 44) very lard-y wan tan mee with QQ wan tan mee. Not very generous with their siew yoke meat but noodles overall is good. RM7/plate Mix fruit (stall 8) watermelon, honeydew and mango with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Simple dessert and ice is a little rough. Fruits are sweet, well selected. RM11/ bowl.

Nestled in Ipoh, the Geology Museum has been a treasure trove of geological wonders since its opening in 1957. While its exterior may not catch your eye, stepping inside reveals a world brimming with fascinating exhibits that cater to all ages. The museum is thoughtfully organized into seven distinct zones, each offering unique insights into various aspects of geology.
Well kept, clean environment, real friendly staffs working the museum, and a chill atmosphere. Walk around slowly and learn about the short history of our earth, rocks & cystals, its uses and importance, plus the many places of geological interests in Malaysia. Overall lovely experience. Staffs were easy to talk to, happy to show the rare collection of precious and semi-precious stones on sale and offered stories on how their own customers bought some of them. If you're around the area, and don't mind a quiet time learning something extra, do drop by this museum and give it a go.
Chris L — Google review
This place is recommended only if you're into geology - rocks, minerals and the history of it. Admission is free and it's educational. They displayed the minerals in raw form and the processed. They have displays on the machines used for the process.

Very nice to place to learn about geology and different types of rocks and fossils etc. Admission fee is free. You need to take off your shoes when you enter. Inside the museum is very clean and a dinosaur is welcoming the visitors.

An outstanding geology museum, with informative displays, suitable for all ages. An extensive range of minerals, including their chemical composition. The uses of minerals in everyday life and geological measuring equipment displays were very interesting. This museum would be a great location for a school science field trip. It's airconditioned and you need to leave your shoes by the door. Toilets are located near the guardhouse.

Free parking, free entry. Good source of information on rocks and minerals. Also shows equipment used for geological surveying. It's a small museum, can be completed within an hour.

Purple Moon Lover is a unique one-storey cafe in Canning Garden that blends modern Nordic architecture with Japanese-inspired aesthetics. The zen-like garden features a cobble-stoned path and bonsai plants, creating a tranquil entrance. Inside, patrons can indulge in an array of delightful house speciality desserts, including charming anime-inspired treats and buns. The cafe also boasts a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf filled with manga comics for guests to peruse while enjoying their visit.
28 Apr 2024 It was my birthday and my hub took me there to surprise me with the cute bear cake. Very adorable and I enjoyed the chocolate cake with strawberry, sponge cake and strawberry jam oozing out from the bear. We ordered a cake and a drink. Total spent RM28.50

Nice little cafe with good ambience, comfy and delicious food. Ordered their mushroom chicken rice and salmon curry rice and its yummy. Going to the cafe makes you feel so welcome. May be its their design and lighting. Staff is friendly. Parking is a little trouble as the space is limited. Price is slightly exp but you get the quality you expected. Washroom is a down side as there is only one washroom for gents and lady. If someone occupied it and you have to wait.
Capsules81 — Google review
Location is okay. Parking can be found easily in front of the cafe or opposite. Good place for pictures and just to relax and chill. The creamy salmon pasta isn’t creamy. The pasta could definitely be better and tastier. The golden sauce golden was better than the pasta. Portion is big too. The drinks are okay. Coffee was okay and the chocolate drink was a bit on the sweet side. The mango cake dessert was the best. It was like cheesecake covered with mango syrup. Inside is dried mango.

The atmosphere is nice and cozy since we were here before noon. Only a few tables were occupied. As for the food, the portion is smaller than expected, and it can improve in terms of taste and appearance, considering how atmospheric the surrounding is.

A bakery cum cafe that serve Japanese fusion food. Orders need to be made at the counter and the food will be served to you. Food wise was pretty decent. Dessert was not too bad as well. Impressed with the bear
Peter G — Google review
Guess the cafe is popular because of its bakery items. They look so appetising and some are just too cute to eat (I swear!). The service crew is attentive and friendly! The cosy environment is just nice for catchup and family gathering. However, the food choices are kinda limited. The Japanese curry katsu though was quite good as the curry was flavoursome compared to the ordinary Japanese curry. The salmon aglio olio meanwhile was pretty bland. It left much more to be desired. We were disappointed of the coffee tiramisu as we thought it would taste very differently. But it was no different than normal latte.

Buddhist temple
Nestled in the heart of Ipoh, Wat Mekprasit Buddhist Temple offers a unique escape from the city's more conventional attractions. Unlike the colonial and Victorian architecture that often draws visitors, this temple stands out with its serene ambiance and distinctive features. The highlight here is undoubtedly the impressive reclining Buddha statue, which captivates all who visit. Although it has faced challenges over time, including necessary repairs and closures due to COVID-19, the temple remains a tranquil haven for reflection and peace.
At last it was opened. Been there couple of times but closed. Met banthe over there, he explained due to covid, the temple have to be closed. Overtime, the roof also leaking and needed to be repaired, can't find people to do it during covid. Anyway, this temple / wat is located opposite Honda. Is a bit run down but wish visitors will provide some donation for the temple / wat. Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu! 🙏🙏🙏

Nestled within the Travelodge Ipoh Hotel, Kommons is a haven for coffee aficionados seeking handcrafted brews. The cafe offers a range of specialty coffees and non-coffee drinks, along with delectable pastries like croffles and tarts. Its minimalist decor and ample natural light make it an ideal spot for both relaxation and Instagram-worthy moments.
The café is conveniently located on the left side of the Travelodge lobby. I visited twice for breakfast and tried different menus. The Americano was decent, bold enough and not watery, though not particularly impressive. The cinnamon bun was fine, while the matchamisu had a slightly unusual taste but still enjoyable. The waffle, however, was quite nice. The space itself is a highlight. The layout with short chairs and tables makes it look neat and spacious, and the white background adds a clean minimalist touch. Hospitality was average overall, though the cashier stood out with his constant smile and welcoming attitude, which made the experience warmer compared to the other staff.
Selvinia N — Google review
Drinks are amazing — we tried the Tiramisu Latte, Matcha Latte, and White Espresso, all tasted divine. But service needs improvement. Staff didn’t feel very friendly, and the plain water policy was handled poorly — my friend took one for herself and me (since I was carrying my baby), yet the waiter kept insisting “one per person.” Honestly felt stingy. If it needs to be charged, I don’t mind paying, but please be more accommodating. Great coffee, but service should match the quality.

Kommons at Travelodge Ipoh is a clean, bright, and modern coffee spot that fits perfectly with the hotel’s calm vibe. It’s never overcrowded, which makes it an ideal corner to relax with a warm drink or a light pastry. The space is minimalist — lots of natural light, open seating, and tidy counters. Their menu has good coffee options and gorgeous pastries on display, giving it that polished café feel. Service is friendly, though not rushed, which suits the easy pace here. A solid choice for a peaceful coffee break without leaving the hotel.

This cozy café offers a delightful selection of drinks, pastries, and cakes. The coffee is rich and smooth, while the pastries are always fresh. Cakes are beautifully presented and delicious. A perfect spot to catch up with friends and enjoy sweet indulgences, though it offers quite a few number of dine in seats.

Love the atmosphere of this cafe. Very cosy. Just had their latte as i’m not a big fan of sweet drinks. I’d say 10/10! It was soooo good! Just that the cup is quite small, 5 sips and goneee!

Minimalist cafe. Love the atmosphere. Tried pain au chocolate & peanut toffee brownie. Pastry was nice but peanut toffee brownie was too sweet for me. Tiramisu latte & White espresso was good. Price is a bit on the high side. Still a nice cafe to chill & hangout.
Zulaiha N — Google review
Went here with my lil brother. Given the price, the drinks taste bizarre (idk was it the recipe or the barista didn’t follow the recipe), and so is the portion (the cup is tiny lol), so feeling like my money was going down the drain, I still finished my drinks, but later bought another drinks at other place lol. The cakes are quite good, glad that I bought some home. But the service?? HORRIBLE! The female staff’s face was stoic, her expression and act were as if I did sth to annoy her. Spoke with a low voice, expecting customers to hear her. No smile, no thanks or whatnot. I told my brother to go take the takeaways from the counter, and my bro said they didn’t say anything, in fact it’s my brother who thanked them. Very very bad service. Would never come here again.

Nestled within a charming vintage building in the heart of Ipoh's Old Town, Tiga Bar is a delightful hidden gem that perfectly blends rustic industrial chic with old-world charm. This vibrant bar, founded by local Sunny in 2019, offers an impressive selection of handcrafted cocktails that are both innovative and experimental. With a friendly and lively atmosphere, Tiga Bar ensures you’ll be surrounded by good vibes until the early hours.
Delicious cocktails in a speakeasy setting. We ordered 6 drinks and they were all great. The standouts for me were ‘burst of kisses’ and ‘love is all the matter of timing’ because of the hot and cold sensations. Really creative use of local flavours and ingredients! Thank you bartenders for the amazing experience.

A delightful find on my first evening in Ipoh. The entrance is actually in the back. Just walk along the side lane and then left until you come across the back door. Aside from the usual cocktails, their mixologist have concocted some new and imaginative drinks using local ingredients (some used by my grandparents 😆). They are unique and taste wonderful. A creative way to put these ingredients to new and innovative use. Best of all, while you sample their cocktails and make small talk with their team behind the bar, you realise they also put on some old movies and project them for the guests to enjoy. Cocktails and movie night = enjoyable combo UPDATE-they have since moved twice, and my latest photos are in their latest location.

Zoo
Pavilion Petting Zoo is a delightful place for kids to spend time with adorable animals like hedgehogs, bunnies, ponies, goats, raccoons, porcupines, rabbits, lemurs, bats, tortoises, pythons and macaws. With over 50 species of domestic and wild animals to interact with and learn about their names and habits. The entrance fee is reasonable and there's ample free parking available.
Nice place to visit, they got cows, goats, chickens, peacocks, goose, deer, racoon, duck, pony and other small animals like hamsters and meerkat. Is a fun place where you can feed all the animals and the is sign that some animal might bite you. The feeding package price is reasonable. They also put some goat and chicken free run so you can pet the goat and chicken. But watch your step cause there might be some animals dropping on the floor.
Joel C — Google review
Entrance fee : RM8 per person I must say, this is the best petting zoo I have ever visited. My son had so much fun that we ended up spending two hours with all the animals. The animals seem genuinely happy, and they greet us in such a gentle and polite manner. One of the goats was mischievous and chewed on my blouse, which I found quite amusing! 😂 The zookeepers are incredibly helpful and kind, and it's clear they have a true passion for the animals, treating them with such gentleness and love. The place is well-maintained and clean, although there are a few slippery spots here and there, so be careful and wear sturdy slippers. This might be due to the rain from the previous night. My suggestion would be to improve ventilation in the area. I felt a bit suffocated, especially with the hot weather outside.
Masrur I — Google review
I know they did their best to keep the animals comfortable by using ice packs and fan. Environment quite humid and hot when I visited. FYI. Visitors aged 60 and above get free entry. I recommend buying some food from there to feed the animals—they seemed hungry but were still in good care.
Hoaishuang T — Google review
Here, you can get up close and interact with the animals, making it a wonderful place for both adults and children to bond. The animal feed sold for feeding is very reasonably priced, and you can also purchase family photos here as a keepsake. Admission is free for children aged 0–2 and seniors aged 60 and above. Regular tickets are RM8 per person.

A place with variety of animals, from tiny to large. Allowing interact, petting even feeding. Was really amazed when the Peacock opening its feather in front of us, especially the White ones. Hope the management will install roof insulation and improve the ventilation system.

It was a hot day, and the place was very hot to stay. I felt bad for the animals because they seemed to be suffering in the hot and it seems like their surviving is questionable. Plus, they seemed hungry too. I felt guilty after looking at them suffering.

a large variety of animals. staff very friendly. feeding animals are an extra cost of 2-3rm per pack depending on animal. out of all the animals most interactive (but some can be a little aggressive) is the goats and deers. they will jump up for food and some are quite gentle so if looking to feed would suggest that pack. animals indoors seem to be well kept and happily sleeping or roaming around, some are scared of humans but not all so can easily find ones to pet. overall enjoyed the visit, just note it's half outdoor with no air-conditioning so was really hot. enjoyed and would recommend

After two previous delays, I finally had the opportunity to dine at Warehouse, Palo 101. On a rainy evening, locating the entrance proved challenging at this food and brew establishment situated at 189, Unit 3, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Taman Jubilee, Ipoh. Visiting on a Monday night offered an overall enjoyable experience with live music from a band and attentive staff in a roomy setting.
Warehouse - Eat Drink Live in Ipoh is a dynamic spot that combines great food, drinks, and live entertainment in an industrial-chic setting. The venue stands out with its edgy interior, complete with exposed brick walls, modern lighting, and a lively ambiance that makes it perfect for a night out or a casual meal. The menu is a blend of Western and local flavors, offering something for everyone. Popular dishes include the crispy seabass seafood and chips, and the Australian beef burger, both praised for their generous portions and excellent taste. Their drinks menu is equally impressive, featuring creative cocktails and a wide selection of beers and non-alcoholic options. The live music performances add a unique touch, creating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. Service is attentive and friendly, making guests feel welcome from the moment they step in. For those visiting early, the 20% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages before 7 PM is a fantastic deal. Whether you’re there for a relaxed dinner, a celebration, or just to enjoy the music, Warehouse delivers on all fronts. It’s a must-visit spot in Ipoh, perfect for foodies, music lovers, and anyone looking for a memorable experience.

Place is nice especially for friends gathering. Noisy happening. The desserts are so so only. Bit over priced. Don't think this place will be around for long.

Unforgettable night - with beautiful people and gorgeous atmosphere. The liveband is terrific, top-notch service, probably the best drinking experience in Ipoh. Child-friendly, recommended for all.
Danny C — Google review
It was a perfect place to chill and talk with your friends , the band singing there was superb with the interaction with the audience. The food is good too like the snacks , just some improvement needed as staff should try to make eye contact with customers when walking around during the band singing because when customers shout they won't hear it as the bass and speakers are too loud (my table doesn't contain a call button)
KHEW Y — Google review
Cozy place with live band performance. Really like this place and enjoy the atmosphere here. Good food and a nice place to enjoy my weekend 😌😄. Super like the 🍕 pizza and mocktail here 🤣 Wakakakaka.
Ying L — Google review
New attraction area with drinking venue warehouse , mandarin Cantonese songs with young crowd and young live band compare to hard rock at the opposite place. Not too bad for Ipoh town.
Nicole N — Google review
Went on Monday night. Overall is great experience. Live band, attentive staffs, spacious environment, but one down thing was donation box is came to each table for the live band singer. Parking lot is available outside, Toilet is clean and nearby.
Lim L — Google review
The price of draught beer was ridiculously expensive (RM220 for 10 small cups of draught beer) —but hey, since we were in Ipoh, we figured we had to try one of these legendary “Ipoh live band bars,” right? The singers were doing their best, and kudos to them for trying to bring life to the place. Now, the real showstopper? The service—or rather, the complete lack of it. Instead of hiring actual waiters or waitresses, they’ve apparently rounded up a cast of “lala” boys and girls who seem to think customer service is optional. Basic manners? Nonexistent. Courtesy? Never heard of it. Maybe instead of overcharging for beer, consider investing a little in staff training. We came here to relax and spend money—not to run a crash course in “How to Be a Decent Human 101.” Just a thought.

Chinese restaurant
Fei Lou Curry Noodle is a restaurant in Ipoh Garden South that offers a variety of delicious dishes such as curry noodles and Hainanese chicken rice. Customers have enjoyed the food so much that their belts even broke! The standout dish at Fei Lou Curry Noodle is the white chicken with rice, which is described as firm and silky smooth. Additionally, the dry curry noodles and rice are considered decent, but not particularly outstanding.
This local eatery is my absolute go-to spot whenever I’m back in Ipoh, and for good reason! Their Kai See Horfun is hands down one of the best in town—smooth, silky noodles in a rich, flavourful broth that’s simply irresistible. The dried curry noodles are another must-have, with a fragrant, spicy kick that keeps you coming back for more. The steamed chicken is incredibly tender and pairs perfectly with their fragrant rice and special chili sauce, which adds just the right amount of heat and tang. Every visit here feels like a comforting taste of home, and I wouldn’t miss it for anything when I’m in Ipoh!

Chicken & roast pork rice was decent. Acar was good. Curry noodle was average. (3.8/5) Place is small, generally clean and comfortable. (3.5/5) Service was prompt and friendly. (3.8/5)

Did not try their curry noodle, but the kaiseehorfun is nice. Tasty soup base. Good portion. Meat ball ok. For a kopitian with only one single stall, nothing much can go wrong.
ChoonLin K — Google review
Very salty curry mee, both dry and soup. 2x bowls curry mee + chicken breast for 2 - total bill was RM36. Stuffy & hot environment
CY — Google review
I had high hopes for this place, but it turned out to be a letdown. The food was shockingly expensive for the portion size—RM30 for siu yok that was cold and not crispy at all. Isn’t crispy skin the whole point? The fried meat was RM35, and the serving was ridiculously small for the price. Honestly, it felt like I was paying premium prices for below-average food. Definitely not worth it. Dry curry noodle used to be better.
Dawn Y — Google review
Non-halal hainanese chicken rice and curry noodles. Food comes fast after ordering. Nice tasty curry noodles & chicken rice, make sure to add the acar vege (good blend of vege crunch with spicy sour taste)
Maria — Google review
We stopped here for lunch before heading to Banjaran Hot Springs as nothing replaces a good street food. Recommended by my good friend, I must say I really slurped out the curry mee soup! The dry curry noodles was just okaaay, a little sourish. Heard a lot about the different varieties of curry mee in Ipoh, this one was indeed diff from what I normally have in KL…it didnt contain tofu, long beans etc…but plenty of chicken pieces and char siew and bean sprouts. Different but tasty
Raj P — Google review
Worst experience where the young lady boss's attitude was bad. when tried to exchange the food we ordered, the lady boss got the order wrong and wouldn't admit her mistake. It totally ruined my day. She was very loud and seemed like she wanted to make sure everyone could hear her. There brought me a bowl of chicken char siu, a bowl of chicken hor fun, and two glasses of coffee cost RM26 which was very pricy in Ipoh. They really ruined my day. Dont visit this store!Otherwise your day will be ruined!

If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Ipoh's old town, make sure to stop by the whimsical attraction known as Upside Down World. This quirky venue offers a delightful twist on traditional photography, featuring an array of upside-down furniture and even an inverted car in its foyer. With 16 unique installations designed for fun photo opportunities, it's a fantastic spot for families and friends alike to capture memorable moments.
Ipoh Upside Down World is a delightful and quirky attraction that offers a fun experience for visitors of all ages. The concept is simple yet fascinating—rooms and everyday settings are flipped upside down, creating an illusion that challenges your perception of gravity. It’s a fantastic place to unleash your creativity and capture some unique photos. The setup of the rooms is meticulous, with vibrant décor and realistic props that add authenticity to the scenes. Whether it’s a living room, kitchen, or even a classroom, the attention to detail is impressive. The staff especially, Ms Kina deserves special mention; they are friendly, helpful, and always ready to guide you on how to pose for the best photos. They truly enhance the experience. One of the highlights of the visit is the variety of themes. Each room has a distinct vibe, ensuring that you don’t feel repetitive as you explore. It’s also an excellent spot for families with kids, as they’ll find it both entertaining and engaging. However, the space can feel a bit crowded during peak hours, so I recommend visiting early to enjoy the exhibits fully. The ticket price is reasonable, and the memories you create are well worth it. If you’re in Ipoh and looking for something fun and out of the ordinary, this is a must-visit!

Upside Down World Ipoh is an absolute delight! Every room is creatively designed, making the entire experience fun and photo-worthy from start to finish. We had such a great time exploring and snapping quirky pictures. One of the lovely staff members even offered to guide us through and took incredible photos along the way—like our own personal photographer! And the best part? It was at no extra cost. Highly recommended for a fun and unique outing! 🤩
Adriana D — Google review
Ipoh Upside Down World is definitely a unique spot, but honestly, it’s just not for me. The place is quirky with its upside-down rooms and props, and I can see why people enjoy taking fun photos here. But after a few minutes, it started to feel a bit repetitive and more like a photo-op than an experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, though. If you love playful, Instagram-style photos, this might be your thing — but not mine. ★★★☆☆
Zazirash — Google review
Had a good experience together with my 10 year old son and in laws too. Which means it is suitable for both young and elderly people. We had fun with plenty of pictures. They also had some discounts for senior citizens. Spent almost 30 to 50 minutes here. Keep in mind, you may want to consider if you are planning to bring elderly people who can't walk or on wheelchair as you will need to go few floors up to complete the whole thing.
Mathanraj M — Google review
Fun with family. Everything is upside down. A place where I would come only once in a lifetime. You take your own picture but the staff there will teach you how to pose. A lot of parking space but it’s always full.

Amazing place, stumbled across this by complete accident. It is 26rm for adult foreigners so a bit more expensive than funtasy house but well.worth the money. It was not busy at all so we had loads of time.to take loads of pictures.

The place is located nearby concubine lane in walking distance about 5mins. Totally a recommendation because airconditioned place with reasonsable price. Free for kids and adults RM16. It will take you around 30mins in here. The place is not that big either. You can park nearby the public car park in front of the building which only cost you RM5/day. By the way, the staffs here are friendly. You can ask for their tips to take picture.

Tea house
Vegetarian cafe and deli
Seong Man Teahouse 上文 is a charming tea house nestled near the mural art lane in Ipoh's new town, offering a serene retreat for travelers exploring the area. The teahouse presents an array of Chinese oriental teas, delectable traditional desserts, and vegetarian-friendly comfort food. Its interior is adorned with Chinese antiques and art, creating a tranquil atmosphere for visitors to unwind. This hidden gem also hosts cultural events and art exhibitions that showcase the rich heritage of Asia.
Highly recommend. Tea house with chinese antique furniture and relaxing vibes. They serve vegetarian mains, tea and dessert. We ordered the braised herbal mushroom and radish and tea set B that comes with 1 tea in a pot, 2 desserts (selected mini angku kueh & chrysanthemum goji berry agar) and murukku. Both Huang Jin Gui Oolong Tea and food are great. Staff are friendly and attentive.
Alicia E — Google review
Quaint tea house with antique furniture that sits on Jalan Sultan Iskandar in the old part of Ipoh. Certainly a hidden gem worth visiting after a heavy lunch. The atmosphere is peaceful. You can order a tea set which includes some desserts like osmanthus jelly and ang ku kuih which were nicely paired with the tea. The tea was very good and you could get quite a number of cups of tea out of a single brew. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.
E — Google review
Back in Ipoh for the long weekend and came to check this place out after seeing some pictures on social media. I had the longan goji berry drink while hubs had the osmanthus oolong tea. My drink had the sweet smell and taste of longan wafting away the minute I took a sip. But hub's oolong overpowered the osmanthus. For food, we ordered the goji berry agar agar and angku kuih which had dessicated coconut as filling with a slight taste of gula melaka. Both were not sweet which was a relief. The agar agar wasn't too hard nor too soft, the texture was just right. And the angku kuih had a sprinkling of nuts which added the crunchy texture. Between the two, I would say this was more memorable. I would certainly come back again to chill or to meet up with girlfriends. The only thing I felt oddly out of place with the antique looking furniture is the piped french sounding music, I think it's the saxophone playing. 😁

Serving vegetarian foods with Chinese teas. Ordered tea set with some bite (kuih and desert). Tea are nice. Portion is very are just enough for a bite. Taste of the foods served are just so so. Service : staff are friendly and attentive. One of the lady will come us and help us on our order as we are first visit here. Atmosphere : chinese oldish style decor. We are very lucky to have our car parked at the parking lot in front of the cafe. Em... Not sure about the others food taste from their menu.

Unexpected find as we seek shelter from the monsoon rain. Ordered the tea set for 2 @RM33.50 that comes with 2 dessert . Chose the lemongrass green tea (😜not to add more $$$), came with 5 pieces wolfberry osmanthus jelly, and 4 pieces Ang Ku kueh with coconut filling. Very authentic flavours. My friend chose their pomelo ginger & honey tea …. Had a sip so so good apparently it’s a concoction only the boss knows (I think) Nice breakaway from the hustle and bustle of the concubine street PS we came back the next day to have the ice cold honey pomelo ginger tea

One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and flavour complex. Portions, while may appear on the smaller side, actually are pretty decent. You’ll leave feeling “just nice”. Enjoyed this with some longan drink and pu-er tea.
Kevaldeep K — Google review
Lovely, candid Chinese tea house in Ipoh. The staffs were so efficient and polite. I enjoyed the gorgeous and tasty Ang Ku Kuih, paired with glutinous Pu Er Tea from their curated tea selection. I don’t think it’s a tea house you MUST squeeze into your itinerary if it’s a short trip to Ipoh. However, if you have the time do come here to enjoy the nostalgic interior and calm ambience over some lovely Malaysian Chinese bites.
Hsin L — Google review
Very special cafe which serve vegetarian food in Ipoh town. They are located in very antique building with a lots of antique furniture & simple interior design. If you are wish to take some nice photo & not so pack place to enjoy your tea with friend, this is the right place. They got more than 9 different teas which categorize to 3 group & come with different price. But maybe due to I don’t know how to appreciate the tea, I don’t taste anything special. However they actually very caring by providing a small guidance for tea tasting. Put apart for the price, I felt all the drinks & dessert I ordered are below average. None of them will make me want to come back for. There is also some crack on the bowl serve for Sweet Potato Balls & Grass Jelly. I might give a chance to try out the vegetarian main meal when I’m back to Ipoh.

(Translated by Google) Today I went exploring Ipoh and ended up in a place straight out of a story: Mirror Lake. A lake hidden between mountains that reflects everything as if it were natural Photoshop. It used to be a quarry (yes, with dynamite and everything!), but now it is part of a geopark and seems more like a spa for the soul: tranquility, little boats, postcard landscapes and views that look like an Instagram filter, but without a filter. The entrance is through a 90 meter tunnel… so yes, I literally crossed a mountain to find this paradise! Malaysia definitely continues to surprise me. (Translated by Google) Absolute fun park. After paying 24RM for two people, you walk about 50m through an old mine tunnel. Then you can see the “Mirror Lake”. Or a lot of life jackets because there is a 20 minute boat tour (once in a circle around the lake). You come about 2m onto the lake on a floating platform and can look out. That's all it is... the lake is quite beautiful with the rocks but somehow not what you imagined. (Original) Absoluter Fun Park.
