Restoran Thean Chun is a classic kopitiam in Ipoh Old Town that has gained recognition for its must-try dish, the Kai See Hor Fun. This delightful Chicken Kuey Teow soup features flat rice noodles luxuriating in a savory broth with tender shreds of chicken and succulent prawns.
My go-to place in Ipoh. Also called ‘Hall of Mirrors’. I’ve been here for more than 30 years. All the stalls are still the same. Only the shop owner has changed but they kept the staff and still sell the same drinks. My favourite is ‘Chai Cha’; which is Egg tea without the egg. The Chee Cheong Fun is the type with chilli or ketchup sauce. Also got the ‘rolled’ cheung fun. This is not the kl type with fish cake and fish balls. More like the canning garden type. The most popular is definitely the ‘Kai see Hor fun’. KSHF is different from ‘ngar Choy kai’. The old uncle is still preparing the dishes until today. His son is selling in puchong too. Getting a bit pricey but still very good.

1st visit after a very x3 long time, we came on a very early Sunday morning. Had kopi, custard, pork & liver satay & beef noodle before 9am. Came back after 9am for KSHF. This is an old school no frills Kopitiam, but it's clean & airy. Staff r generally friendly, it's near Concubine lane. My personal rating of what we ate:- 1) pork, cken & pork innards satay. the sauce has a light spice & savory taste 4/5 2) beef ball noodle 3.5/5 3) kopi o & roti kaya 4.5/5 4) KSHF (stall open at 9am), sah hor fun is smooth, broth is sweet & rich of umami, cken & prawn is juicy & tender. 4/5 5) custard is not too sweet 5/5 Overall highly recommended if u r a fan of these types of food. I revisited after a long hiatus to relive the experience. Overall pretty satisfied

When visiting Ipoh, you definitely can’t miss the shredded chicken hor fun. We ordered the hor fun, steamed egg pudding, egg tea, and meatballs (pork and beef). The hor fun had a very unique taste, probably the authentic Ipoh style, and it was quite delicious. The steamed egg pudding was really special – smooth, chilled, and soft like a pudding with caramel on top, very tasty. The egg tea was a bit unusual for me; it tasted somewhat like tea egg but in a sweet version, still an interesting experience. As for the meatballs, the pork one was really good, while the beef had a bit of a strange taste for me, but my friend actually enjoyed it a lot.

2 Pax | Breakfast | Non-Halal | Sharing Ordered: Iced White Coffee x2 Egg Custard Price: RM9.80 Iced White Coffee x2 (Takeaway/Tapau) Price: RM6.40 Hor Fun (Big Bowl) Price: RM11 Mix Pork/Chicken Satay x10 skewers RM15 Notes: 1. The iced white coffees were potent. A good drink to start the day with. However, it may be a bit too strong for non-coffee lovers. The coffees themselves were not too bitter (personally) and not too sweet. 2. The egg custard was a nice and simple dessert. Not too sweet, and it was also soft and fluffy. 3. For the satay, the minimum order is 10 sticks/skewers. A heads-up for those who only want to try a lil bit/want a small order. The peanut sauce was light and compliments the satay well. The ratio of the amount of meat on 1 stick to its price is reasonable and can be considered cheap (1 stick/RM1.50) 4. For the Hor Fun, the noodles are basically the smaller version of the kuey teow noodles. The broth is light and unique. Personally, it tastes like any typical pork noodle soup (but with a twist!) However, I still do think it’s worth trying and seeing how it tastes for yourself. Overall, a good breakfast that’s at a reasonable price. The location itself is strategic as it’s opposite Concubine Lane and a 1-min walk from Kong Heng Square. However, just a heads-up, parking may be an issue on the weekends.

Kai See Hor Fun taste great. Curry Mee taste funny. Roti Bakar wasn't good. Kaya and butter too little. Need to respread more on the toast bread. Toast bread not crispy at all. Nasi lemak,Mee Siam and Angku taste ok. Char Kway Teow taste ok. Fish Ball,Meat Ball and Dim Sum taste alright.
Michael W — Google review
Still having one of the best chicken slice prawn hofun 鸡丝河粉 here in Ipoh, slightly pricey side at RM10. Taugeh at RM3 per plate. Egg custard, 炖蛋really good, creamy and not overwhelming egg taste, very much like panna cotta texture. Chee chong fun standard Ipoh taste. Can get crowded and a bit hot in the shop, but the food can compensate the environment~
JR Y — Google review
This place is a must go when I visit Ipoh with my staples of egg custard and chee cheong fun. Easy to find as it is located directly opposite Concubine Lane. Atmosphere wise, it is as quintessential Malaysian coffee shop as it gets with a different stalls operating onsite with different food offerings and a single drink operator. The egg custard is still as i remember it to be. There are many places in Ipoh that sells egg custard but nothing like a Thean Chun egg custard that is rich in egg flavour and properly caramelised caramel. The texture is very smooth and level of sweetness is just right. I can never stop at 1 each time. Chee cheong fun also has an amazing smooth texture and the sauces that go with it blends well. The older gent who operates the stall has been running it for decades including in the earlier decades also at St Michael's school. He shared that he makes all of his ingredients including the chee cheong fun and indeed, it is different to other places I have had before. He also heats up all his sauces over charcoal for the added fragrance. There is also a chicken biscuit stall operating in Thean Chun worth checking out. The gent who runs this stall usually hands out free samples. The chicken biscuit is also really good. Very fragrant and has a good flavour as well. I used to like the "chai cha" drink from here but in my recent visit, it was too sweet for my liking. This place although has been around for a while, it is worth going to and enjoying the food.
J F — Google review
Had 鸡丝河粉 rm10 and 豆芽 rm2 here. Hor fun is smooth. The broth is tasty with shrimp and shredded chicken. Bean sprout was plump and juicy. Find a seat then the drink stall and horfun boss will come find you to order.

Nasi Ganja Ipoh, also known as Nasi Kandar ayam Merah, is a must-try dish in Ipoh due to its addictive flavors. This Malay and Indian fusion dish features rice, spiced fried chicken, and a coconut sambal that perfectly complements the meal. Despite its name, there are no illegal substances in this dish; it's simply named for its addictive taste.
The best eatery in Ipoh period!! Nothing will ever beat this one. Tip: Eat like the locals- share a table with others if you’re only 2-3 pax.
Asyikin — Google review
Sunday 12pm Parking was not easy. You have to drive and park at the end of the block. It was easy to get a table within Yong Suan and the order was promptly noted by the staff. Food was served relatively fast because they have a system in place to cope with high volume dine in and takeaway customers. They now occupy the side late with canopy for customers to dine in. So there is adequate seating. Coffee shop drinks also take order very fast and serve fast. Too bad the price is inflated and the coffee sucks big time. Nasi Ganja is good because of the gravy and condiments. Unfortunately the chicken of fried till it is too dry. Chicken is also undersized!! Payment after the meal was seamless. Just present the slip of paper that the waiter slips onto your table while you are eating. They accept both cash and QR code payments. Slight deterioration in the food probably due to the high volume. They have to maintain good standards or customers will slowly find better alternatives.
TM O — Google review
Kena dengan selera.. Came to try the famous nasi ganja as everyone seems to recommend it. It was a corner shoplot on a busy street, and was full of people wanting to try the delicious food. But service was quick, and the price was reasonable. And the food was so, so good! And the portions were HUGE!
Zul S — Google review
Tried the famous Nasi Ganja in Ipoh, but overall, the experience was quite average. The mutton we received was mostly bones with very little meat. When we mentioned it to the staff, they casually said, “It’s like that.” Thankfully, a kind Chinese uncle at the cashier noticed and asked, “You kasi semua tulang, macam mana mau makan?”—which really spoke for us! Eventually, the server did give us an additional piece of mutton, which we appreciated. Taste : NORMAL The fried chicken was quite hard and not very enjoyable. The squid was okay, probably the best among the dishes we tried. The fish egg, unfortunately, wasn’t nice. The rice and curry were OK, and the place was busy, but overall, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. Worth trying once for the experience, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it again.
YippieYaYa — Google review
I did a take away and ate in the comfort of my office and here is my conclusion. AVERAGE. I may try again eating on site to confirm this but the only thing I was impressed with was the lime juice. The best lime juice anywhere in the world! I found the fried chicken curry boring and the use of breast meat made it hard and tasteless. The rest of the curries all tasted the same and I tired to use the papadum to add crunchy but it was just a monotanous pile of curry with rice. The prawn and the beef curry did not inspire. I guess people love this place for its history and nostalgia and my good friend In Ipoh ate this from childhood.
Jeremy C — Google review
True to its name (Ganja translates to something "addictive" or "dope"), this place lives up to the hype! Nasi Ayam Ganja is seriously addictive and I really recommend it. Be prepared for the queue; the line is quite long, but it moves fast. It's common to share a table with strangers, which is part of the fun and atmosphere! The prices are very affordable, and the portion size is huge (banyak banget). You definitely get great value for your money here. It's Halal and you can request the non-spicy version if you prefer.
Diaz M — Google review
I love their nasi ganja! As someone who tried nasi ganja for the first time, I fell in love first taste ❤️ Price wise with that taste, very cheap! The restaurant can be quite crowded, but depending on your luck, the waiting queue wasn't that bad. On the day I went there, it took us only 5 mins to get a table, however still, I recommend to come during non-peak hour. Most importantly, don't forget to bring a fan with you because it is quite hot. Also, parking can be quite tricky.
Rozlianah J — Google review
Something must be wrong with my taste bud. The food tasted average. The chicken was tough. The rice texture was strange. The curries were bland. The iced coffee was meh.

Ipoh Tuck Kee Restaurant is a visually stunning dining spot in Ipoh, known for its vibrant neon signs and diverse menu. From vegetables to seafood, the restaurant offers an extensive range of delightful dishes that are as pleasing to the palate as they are to the eye. With pre-ordering available and friendly staff ready to assist with any inquiries, visitors can expect a timely and enjoyable dining experience at this legendary establishment.
Had dinner at Restoran Tuck Kee and it definitely lived up to its reputation. The Yu Kong Hor (fried flat noodles with egg) was smooth and flavorful, and the baby octopus dish was a standout—tender, springy, and well-seasoned The menu offers a great variety of Cantonese-style noodles and stir-fried dishes, all at reasonable prices. The place gets very crowded, especially during weekends, so expect a queue. Overall, a great spot for local-style noodles and a must-try if you're exploring Ipoh’s food scene.
Iris Y — Google review
The food here is decent—nothing extraordinary, but satisfying enough for a quick meal. Be prepared to order and queue before being seated, though the dishes come out surprisingly fast once you do. The biggest downside is the limited parking, so plan accordingly.
00Y — Google review
The food here is really good. The moonlight hor fun is so smooth it literally slit down my throat effortlessly ! Had the cuttlefish ball soup too, which was comforting and they are huge ! Suggest to come before 6pm as the crowd starts coming in.
Wee K — Google review
The food here is satisfactory, though it may not be particularly outstanding. I find that the Tuck Kee in the KL branch offers a more appealing flavor profile in my personal opinion.
Annie C — Google review
We accidentally walked into the wrong Tuck Kee restaurant, but luckily realized it while ordering. The baby octopus dish was really fresh and tasty, but the rest of the dishes were just so-so. Overall, it was an okay experience."

Super delicious and tender octopus with chilli peanut sauce pair with Wat Dan Hor 🥹 Fried chicken wings are just okay, it's on the sweeter side.
Janelle — Google review
When you come Ipoh, everyone mentions tuck kee. Or probably I should mention the tourist haha. I passed by Ipoh recently, quite late. The famous chicken rice already closing up, caught them cleaning up. So drop by the next best thing, which is a few doors down. The famous tuck kee. So many here with 2 similar shops side by side even. Made a beeline for this particular shop cause of the queue outside. Ordered a few dishes on the menu. The fried stuffs etc plus meatball, lobak, taugeh 😅, yes I was abit hungry. System is to queue and order at the counter. Then they will designate the table. At least it’s systematic and avoid disorderly confrontations. The main star fried noodles/yu Kong hor was good but abit salty for me. The taugeh and meatballs are a great compliment. The lobak unfortunately was forgettable. The baby octopus was another star side dish. Yummy. Overall drop by when Ipoh, try it to see what’s the fad about 👍🏻
Boon H — Google review
Soy Sauce Octopus was yummy! Excellent side dish. Fried Spring Roll was good as well (No pics, sorry). Deep fried Chicken Wing was pretty normal. Yu Kong Hor is great! But the most unique was the 滑蛋鱼面. Noodles made from fishball material, looks like Udon, but so springy and coated with savoury sauce. Go early to avoid the queue. Food is served relatively fast. One of the more special Ipoh eateries we stopped by.

Restoran Ipoh Kong Heng is a beloved establishment in the Oldtown area of Ipoh, known for its long-standing presence and satisfying both locals and travelers. The restaurant is famous for its signature dish, Kai Si Hor Fun, which attracts visitors with its delightful flavors. Additionally, it offers a renowned custard egg dessert that captivates diners with its heavenly combination of soft texture and luscious caramel topping.
Had the Char Kuey Teow with duck egg, super satisfying and very filling! Full of wok hei, great texture, and you can really taste the richness from the duck egg. The rojak here is also excellent, the prawn paste is thick and flavorful with crushed peanuts, and the crackers add a nice crispy contrast to the fresh fruits. Crispy popiah was just okay, nothing too special. Ended the meal with Ipoh white coffee, rich, gao, and aromatic but not jelak. A perfect finish to a great meal. Definitely a place I’d come back to!
Nicholas — Google review
Random kopitiam visited as we parked right in front of their shop. Your typical ipoh kopitiam with chicken sliced hor fun, spring roll, chee cheong fun, char kueh teow, chicken rice n not forgetting caramel custard. Food taste wise were all ok no complaints. Very generic and tastes like any shop in ipoh. Pricing now is almost on par with KL.
Lee C — Google review
Less crowded. The Chicken Prawn Kuey Teow is good, and the fat and short bean sprouts is the local signature. The white coffee and rajak is average. I preferred the richer sauce like the rojak in Bukit Mertajam. The pork satay is tough.
Kok ( — Google review
The duck egg cha kwey teow is soooo good! Loads of wok hey in there and all the people are so nice in the coffee shop, it was really early in the morning so it was still relatively quiet and we had a really good start to the day. The duck egg does make a big difference to binding all the ingredients together, silky noodles and generous duck egg omelette plus the fat and juicy bean sprouts elevated the whole experience. Great start to a day of food hunt! Kopi was a bit more on the sweet side so remember to ask for less sugar :)

Nestled near the Methodist Girls School on Jalan Kampar, Yee Fatt Curry Mee is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious curry noodles in Ipoh. This beloved eatery has been delighting locals and visitors alike for over 60 years with its two distinct versions of curry mee: the soup and the dry variant. The dry version is particularly popular, featuring noodles generously drizzled with rich curry sauce and accompanied by tender curry chicken.
Best meal I had in Ipoh ! The dry curry mee is packed full of spices but not very spicy. It’s more on the soy and sweet side Portion is considered generous with curry chickens, char siew, noodles. Glad I got to try this on my last day in ipoh.
Wee K — Google review
Their curry noodles are a must-try—the gravy is luxuriously thick, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the noodles (opt for the soup version over the dry kolo style!). Be prepared: this place is popular for a reason, so queues are common. Pro tips: 1) Decide your order while waiting to speed things up, 2) Arrive early—they close once the noodles run out, and 3) Parking is tricky. A little stress for a lot of deliciousness ;)
00Y — Google review
Classic kopitiam setup. Clean and comfortable with ceiling fans. However, when we left, all our clothes smelled of curry. Dry curry mee was tasty with 5 chicken pieces. Curry was thick n rich. 4.5/5. Loh mai kai with curry was a good combination, lots of chicken and mushroom. 5/5. Did not enjoy tea egg. Tea was sweet like a 'leong sui' and egg wasnt soaked in tea for long enough. 2/5. Total came out to RM70 for 5 of us. Overall, we will come back again but will skip the egg.
Kenneth Y — Google review
Very Indian spicy 🔥 Dried version has dark soy sauce and Indian spices. Soup version has strong and pungent Indian spices taste and aroma. Food for the strong stomach. Parking is challenging.

1st time here. Arrived on a Saturday morning before 9am. An old school Kopitiam style that serves their signature curry (dry/wet) noodles 4.5/5, noh mai kai w curry cken 3.5/5, egg tea a bit too sweet (3/5) & fried liew (2.5/5). Overall pretty satisfied w the signature noodles, service is acceptable.the restaurant is clean
WaiTuck C — Google review
The curry mee has a strong indian style influence. I think it's goes very well with french loaf instead of noodles. Attached photos shows the "dry vs soup" version of the curry. The YTF was a disappointment, it was served cold. The tea egg is more like Liang Teh 凉茶, it's different from those black tea infused eggs soaked in rice cooker. Expect to queue for tables in the morning.
D. L — Google review
Located near town centre. This is a historic restaurant dated back to 1950s. The restaurant has very good old vibe and it’s clean and spacious. The popular dry curry mee is pretty good, but they always ran out of chicken curry as early as 11am. The coffee is average only. The yong taufoo is average only too. Overall a good place to tick the box but it’s not really my favorite. Recommended to those who love Ipoh style dry chicken curry.
Chuah P — Google review
Stepping into Kedai Kopi Yee Fatt feels like entering a time capsule—an old-school eatery that refuses to bow to modern trends. The charm? Authenticity. The specialty? Dry curry mee that packs a punch. The kaw curry gravy here is no joke—thick, rich, and unapologetically bold. It clings to the noodles like a well-rehearsed symphony, delivering layers of spice and depth that make every bite unforgettable.

Kedai Makanan Nam Heong, located in Ipoh, is renowned for its authentic Ipoh white coffee. This old town coffeeshop has retained its traditional ambiance over the years and is famous for being the birthplace of the original Ipoh White Coffee. Despite the emergence of commercialized franchises, Nam Heong continues to be held in high regard by locals. In addition to their signature white coffee, visitors can explore other stalls within the shop offering various delicacies.
The coffee, is coffee, no white coffee 😆 i order ice coffee and white coffee ais, the waiter told me only got 1 type ice coffee . The egg tart is not sweet add the filling is quite full. Not the best fragrance egg tart but its fresh and warm when its served. (Not sure if i m lucky) I like the “sio bao” . Limited serving table. Ao be prepare to queue.

Have to wait in queue to be seated. The food is good and nice. Not too salty or sweet. If you feel the drinks are too sweet you can ask them to fix the drinks for you. Eg coffee too sweet, they will remove a bit and refill with unsweetened coffee. Food portion per serving is just nice. The cost is around RM6 to RM9 mostly.

Dropped by Nam Heong Coffee Shop in Ipoh's Old Town, a beloved local institution that's been serving up traditional favorites for ages. I tried their famous Ipoh white coffee, which was smooth and comforting, though the taste was pretty standard for my palate. The dim sum spread was decent, but nothing that blew me away - just solid, familiar options. On the other hand, their char koay teow was a real highlight - wok-fried to perfection and packed with flavor. And the prawn mee? Wow! The broth was rich and intense, loaded with prawn goodness, and the prawns themselves were fresh. All in all, a satisfying meal at a classic spot that's definitely worth a visit.

Corner coffee shop. Arrived at 1pm Friday. Very cramped. Ordered noodles soup. RM9. A bit taken aback. Portion was average and so was taste. Iced Coffee was good though. Thick and strong.

Egg tart is good & fresh, not too sweet and generous amount of fillings, be prepared for queue to buy. Char kuey teow is good. Hor fun soup is good too even though portion is a bit small. Chee cheong fun is not to my liking. Coffee is normal for Ipoh standards
Keet F — Google review
While the food is ok but not outstanding except the egg tart, which is very fresh, bake to sell type. The price is as good as KL but worse off with the amount of quantity served. RM 9 per bowl is not well justifiable. Prepare to wait for table at peak hour because the table is really limited.
Dandelion — Google review
Atmospheric and old school. They serve the traditional white coffee and charcoal toasted white bread. The coffee is excellent and thick - well made and potent! However, the bread was a disappointment - not enough charcoal taste and insufficient kaya and butter. Overall experience in the hot coffee shop was very “Ipoh” Recommended, but will not return
Ron Y — Google review
It was packed, be prepared to share table with another small group if you are 1-2 in a group, otherwise waiting time is at least 10min. Tables and chairs are tight close together. It was not organized, messy system on where to pay or order, whether you are taking away or dine in. Drinks were late, food were late and was the wrong order. If there was a QR system for the main owner of the shop, can be invested, especially for this busy shop, so orders are correct or arrive on time. Food quality are tasty, a bit pricy. Spoke to the regular customers, they said everything is tasty and worth try. If you come late afternoon, some stalls have closed.

Cowan Street Ayam Tauge & Koitiau Restaurant is a must-visit dining spot in Ipoh, known for its delectable bean sprouts chicken soup and irresistible chicken rice. Despite its irregular opening hours, locals and tourists flock to this eatery for their famous nga choy kai and braised chicken feet. The restaurant's flavorful broth and tender poached chicken have earned it a solid reputation among food enthusiasts.
Arriving just before opening, we snagged the last table. The shop was spotless, with chicken displayed front and centre. The staff's efficient ordering process and the old uncle's expert preparation added to the charm. Despite using a walking stick, his passion for serving was evident. The chicken was tender, old-school, and flavorful (on the salty side). Hor fun in soup was a nice twist instead of fragrant rice. I'm glad we visited - and judging by the long queue when we left.

Long Q and renowned restaurant in Ipoh. This place tests your patience, tolerance of hygiene, luck to get your food properly. The quality of the chicken is just above the par at best and definitely not a miss-out to pass. Stains of mold observed at the bottom of beverage cup. If none of these is an issue for you, pls proceed.

Only open on Thursday to Sunday. Be ready to queue up for your turn but the turnover is quite fast, very efficient staff. Comes with steam chicken with secret sauce (it’s very good, different from other place), chicken innards, chicken feet, not to forget bean sprouts. You will forget what full means because u can’t stop eating 😂 salute to the owner who still comes out to work eventhough mobility is a challenge to him.

Went there yesterday Friday17th Oct 2025. 540pm - queue outside for20 minutes. 6 pm opened n allowed to b seated .managed to eat ard 6.45 pm.the chicken was tender n flavourful, chicken gizzards, liver , intestines well cooked n nice . Kwaytiaw soup was delicious n kway teow fine n smooth . Bean sprouts were firm , juicy n tasty.👍👍 On d whole,it was worth the queue . Non Aircond coffee shop setting Very good nar Choi Kai in Ipoh. Highly recommended. Tho old man boss has a bad crooked spine n bad knees - ambulate with a walking stick I don’t think his bad back n knees can support him much longer - so if u like to try - do so quickly before they retire I was told the shop often closes without prior notice.- so try yr luck😃

Open at exactly 6pm. They are open only on Thurs- Sun but if they felt tired, they will just close for business. This place is operated by senior couple for more than a few decades. Looking at them, they are easily over 80 yrs. If you are looking for a nice Tauge Chicken Hor Fun ( Not Kai Si Hor Fun) this is the place. Locals lined up to eat and they will close once they have finish selling the limited numbers of chicken. Orders will be taken and a plate of white pepper chicken feet is served long before the rice came. Probably its the appetiser. The noodle and the chicken came later. The fried onion oil brings out the chicken flavour , the noodle is smooth and that is additive. Anyway, the price is not cheaper than KL even in Ipoh. Overall the chicken is soft and smooth. Tauge as usual don't dissapoint. Try if you can because the legasy of this place is short and they don't have any apprentice to continue the business and will stop once the couple could no longer cook.

Came during weekday and the restaurant is already full of customers right when it opened at 6pm, luckily there's still some table left for us to be seated. There are chairs outside which is mainly for those waiting for their takeaway order, one of the kind customer there informed us of this as we thought there were no seats inside and have to wait outside. Food wise I think it's just your average Bean Sprouts Chicken in Ipoh, and price is kinda high. Service of the staffs here is ok, since the owner is already old, they hired foreign staff to help and it is not too hard to understand them.
Hammer H — Google review
This is an old shop serve one of the authentic chicken, beansprouts ho fan in Ipoh. The taste: is a bit different from the normal chicken bean sprout hor fan. It comes with unique aroma which has a blend of herbs, pepper and sesame. The hor fan has its signature smooth and silky texture. The chicken is soft and juicy but for those who is first time trying, you may found some red oozing out the chicken, but it is normal.
Tan S — Google review
Came to Q early based on reviews. However, no matter how early we came, the serving did not go by Q. There was a couple just walk in when the shop start operating and they were served ahead of us. Chicken texture is smooth as the chicken was dip in ice bath after cook but lack of firmness of a free range chicken as farm chicken is used. Price wise is at a premium range RM76 which not worth for farm chicken. Other foods are pretty pricy as well. For example, one plate of bean sprout cost RM18 and one cup of barley drink cost RM2.80

Restaurant
Restoran Moon De Moon is a popular spot in Ipoh, known for its delicious local dishes and Instagram-worthy white coffee. The restaurant attracts a steady stream of customers, especially in the mornings, with long queues forming outside. Their signature dish, kai si hor fun, features smooth noodles and flavorful broth made with generous amounts of prawns. In addition to this standout dish, diners can also enjoy other local favorites like Chee Cheong fun and Curry mee.
The broth for the kai see horfun was very flavourful. You can taste the prawn and chicken stock in the broth. The 'dry' curry chicken mee was thick and rich. The calamansi provided, add an extra tangy kick to the taste. The fishball was spongy and tasty. Too bad the stall do not have any bean sprout as a side dish. It would have been a perfect meal if there was.
Chanvk — Google review
Had their famous signature 'Kai See Hor Fun' and was certainly worth the wait. The noodles were soft and silky while the broth was rich with flavour. One of the best that I've tried in Ipoh. The curry noodles were average while the Chee Cheong Fun was below standard. Next round I'll just order the 'Kai See Hor Fun'. Do note that they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and waiting is definitely a must.
Red E — Google review
This food court rose to popularity mainly because of the Gei C Hor Fun stall. While the noodles were decent, the wait was long and the soup portion rather small — overall not bad, but not particularly impressive given the queue time. We also tried the char kuey teow and the Hong Kong–style chee cheong fun. The chee cheong fun was smooth with a flavorful soy sauce base, while the char kuey teow could have been better if it were cooked a little drier.
Boey C — Google review
Came for lunch at this place, overall not bad. Umbra juice was nice and refreshing. Sadly, my dream of trying 鸡丝河粉汤 ended when they told me only dry version left. The steamed chee cheong fun taste was ok and portion generous, though a bit steep at RM10. The wantan mee though… sigh... noodles and sauce lacked oomph, char siew wasn’t charred enough, and the wantan tasted more like flour than filling. That dish alone deserves 1 star, but the rest of the food made up for it.
Kinky ! — Google review
It is like a small food court but the attention would be at the shop selling hor fun and curry noodle. Usually pack during peak hour, shop already full at their opening hour at 7.30am. The hor fun texture is great, smooth and soft, the broth is slightly sweet, lack of other complex flavor. The fishball was ok. I think their top seller is their dry curry noodle which we would try next time.
Teng F — Google review
It’s a nice place situated in the housing area serving mostly the locals. It’s spacious and not stuffy. I ordered the Chee Cheong Fan with pork… it’s flavorful and smooth. Recommended. Their famous dry curry noodle… it’s amazingly delicious but you have got to wait (15-20 mins). Kopi C is also very good.
TK — Google review
Legendary Ipoh Chicken Hor fun and chicken curry mee. The wait times varies from 30 -60 mins depending on dates and timings. They often sell out by 1030hrs. The horfun is silky smooth and just goes down like butter through your mouth. The broth is thick and flavourful. The curry is in my opinion one the best in South east Asia as a condiment to a bowl of noodles. If you are too full, you can just order curry chicken to go with your hor fun. They deserve 5 stars and more and naysayers about price etc sadly miss the bigger picture.
Jeremy C — Google review
I went to ipoh for a holiday and decided to eat here. lets just say i prefer the Teh C more. the horfun was quite average not suprising. and yet its overhyped with alot of people. the broth was questionable like something is up the noodle had a weird texture the.. chicken. doesnt taste right like something so i would rarely come to this when i go to ipoh again. im heavily dissapointed on the horfun and i will never order it again.

Nestled in the heart of Ipoh, Nam Chau Kopitiam is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the city's renowned white coffee. This charming coffee shop not only serves up an exceptional brew but also offers a delightful array of local dishes that truly capture the essence of Ipoh's culinary scene. Among its highlights is the beloved Kai Si Hor Fun, a comforting noodle dish that patrons rave about, often requesting extra soup due to its deliciousness.
An old stalwart coffee shop in Ipoh. Their white coffee is very good. Their food offerings are pretty nice as well. They do a good rendition of curry mee and kai si hor fun. Like every coffee shop in Ipoh they also serve creme caramel and this was a good one.

Used to visit this place like 10 to 15 years ago, nice and simple food. It had since evolved. Renovated and with new menu. The coffee used to be special. It is still OK now. But was surprised by the price. White coffee ice at 4.70, and a plastic cup for take away would add additional 0.50.

来怡保老字号「南洲茶铺」吃午餐啦!必点他们家的招牌熊熊白咖啡冰! Having lunch at the famous Nam Chau Kopitiam in Ipoh. Their Iced Bear-Bear White Coffee is really what you're here for. We made a special trip to the famous Nam Chau Kopitiam in Ipoh, and it completely lived up to its reputation. The place was bustling with energy, filled with the chatter of satisfied customers, which immediately gave us a feel for its authentic charm. Without a doubt, the star of our meal was the Iced Bear-Bear White Coffee. It was exceptionally smooth and aromatic, with a perfect balance of sweetness and robust coffee flavor—utterly refreshing and lived up to every bit of the hype. To complement our drinks, we also sampled their curry mee and hor fan. The curry mee was outstanding; the broth was richly spiced and creamy, packed with flavor. The hor fan was equally impressive, stir-fried to perfection with a distinct and satisfying "wok hei" aroma. Overall, our lunch was a fantastic experience. The quality of the food and drinks, combined with the vibrant atmosphere and great value, makes Nam Chau Kopitiam an absolute must-visit in Ipoh. I would highly recommend it to anyone and will certainly be returning on my next trip.

Great place for a quick break from all the walking. Comfy and cosy traditional style coffeehouse. The bread was nice and crispy on the outside but fluffy and light on the inside. Serving of Kaya and butter was generous. Half boiled eggs were properly done and served prepared, ready to eat to reduce fuss and mess of cracking the eggs. Iced coffee was rich and not overly sweet. The star was the luncheon meat and egg sandwich. The fried luncheon meat balances salty with savoury flavours. The custard did not make a big impact but that was probably due to it being overshadowed by the other flavours.

A typical kopitiam setting with air conditioning. The dry curry mee was flavorful, though slightly overpowering for my personal taste. The bean sprouts were fresh and well-prepared.

Kedai Kopi Keng Nam is a popular breakfast and brunch spot in Ipoh, known for its dry curry noodles. The cafe is always bustling with customers, so it's best to visit at the right time to avoid long waits and stressed-out staff. Their Ipoh-style chee cheong fun stands out with its unique mushroom sauce made from shiitake mushrooms, giving it a lighter, darker consistency than the Western-style creamy mushroom sauce.
Offers great local food options and is very welcoming to tourists! Must-try dishes include curry noodles, wanton noodles, glutinous rice with kaya, and their iced white coffee (opt for less sweet if preferred). We loved it so much that we came back just for the coffee and homemade duck egg kaya on glutinous rice — absolutely worth the calories!!

Had an amazing breakfast experience at Kedai Kopi Keng Nam. The restaurant was pleasantly quiet during my visit, making it a relaxed and comfortable stop to kickstart the day. The highlight for me was the Kopi Ice, hands down the best I’ve had in Ipoh. Rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. I also tried the pulut kaya, which was a real standout. It’s not something you commonly find elsewhere, and it had a unique taste that sets it apart. The prawn noodles were flavorful and came in a generous portion, definitely worth trying if you’re a fan of local noodle dishes. Ambience wise, it’s a classic kopitiam setting with plenty of tables. While not fancy, it has that nostalgic charm. Parking can be a bit tricky though, as it’s mostly street parking and usually paid. All in all, I’d highly recommend this place for a good, authentic breakfast in Ipoh. Great food, great kopi, and a local experience not to miss.

Look, it's time for some old school. Relaxed, casual kopitiam frequented by locals for the chill vibes and good food. Famous for the curry noodles and kaya glutinous rice, there are other choices available too such as chee cheong fun, wantan mee and liu fun. The dry curry noodles are quite alright. Taste-wise hits all the correct notes, but I'd prefer a thicker and creamier broth. The curry paste is not as rich and decadent as say, Yee Fatt near MGS. Also, the toppings are limited to chicken slices and char siew, both of which are just normal. A hard pass, but there are definitely better. The liu (meatballs) met expectations. But at RM1.50 per liu, it's pricey. Surprise of the morning was the coffee. Once subpar and the worst part of the cafe, today they make wonderful white coffee that's rich, creamy, slightly bitter, with just a touch of chocolate. I love it. I don't have the urge for repeated visits here, but for a casual breakfast meetup over good coffee and alright food, it's more than enough.
ChoonSeng L — Google review
Only tried kaya butter toast , charm coffee and kaya pulut. Kaya is smooth and coconutty in a good way. The pulut has a slight savoury taste so its a good match with the kaya. Kedai boss was very hospitable, prioritizing to serve customer even when he was about to have his lunch. No aircon, only fan.

The dry curry and soup curry tastes the same so I'd rather get the soup next time to have more curry. Kaya glutinous rice is an amazing combi. Kopi is very gao here. Wantan mee was dabaoed but tasted soso only

Nestled in the heart of Ipoh, Kedai Makanan Loke Wooi Kee is a beloved eatery that has been delighting locals and visitors alike for decades. Renowned for its mouthwatering noodles, particularly the kai si hor fun, this restaurant offers a comforting dish that bursts with flavor despite its simple appearance. The experience is further enhanced by their smooth caramel pudding, which strikes an ideal balance of sweetness alongside a robust cup of kopi c.
Probably the best Ipoh Gai Si Hor Fun I’ve ever had. The soup has a strong prawn-infused chicken flavour, super fragrant yet light, with no signs of MSG. The kway teow is silky smooth and cooked perfectly. There’s also Apam Balik sold here, more on the soft, mochi-like side rather than crispy, and surprisingly delicious. Definitely worth coming for both the noodles and the dessert!

Tried a few dishes recently, and here are my thoughts: 1. Kapdai Fried Bihun Mee – 9/10 RM8.50 A solid dish with great wok hei, making it both flavorful and satisfying. 2. Char Koay Teow (Same Stall) – 3/10 (RM8.50) Unfortunately, this one was too oily for our liking, which took away from the overall experience. 3. Dry Curry Noodle – 8/10 (RM10) Rich and flavorful with a good balance of spices. A satisfying option if you're in the mood for something hearty. 4. Dapao Big Face / Ban Chang Kuih– 3/10 RM1.70 Looked promising at first, but the taste and aroma didn’t quite match expectations. Disclaimer: Taste is subjective, and personal preferences vary. This review is based on my own experience and may not reflect others’ opinions.

This place existed in my memory since childhood days whenever I visited Ipoh. It is one of the oldest famed kopitiam in Ipoh beside Tin Chun and Kong Heng during the 70s. In those days, it is popular for its yummy Ipoh’s noodles called ‘Ho Her’. It has a clear broth with glass noodles served with fish cake, fish balls and Dong cai, a preserved Chinese vegetable. Unfortunately, the older generation has passed on, the current Ho Hee store didn’t live up to the previous standards, the broth was blend with a tint of sweetness, the fish balls we’re super salty that we didn’t feel right having the second one. This is a total let down. I won’t recommend this noodle if you happen to patronize this place. My sister decided to give the Hainanese curry noodles a try. It turned out pretty authentic, the broth was aromatic with the curry mixed well with the blended potatoes to thicken the curry broth. Although it appeared to be spicy but it was not. So this is worth a try. We also ordered the Cantonese fried hor fun from one of the stores. The Cantonese fried was mediocre and average. I heard the Ipoh popular Chicken Sa Hor Fun was not that great though the broth looked yummy. There were quite a few other stores selling other stuffs. I noticed the one selling the Chinese apom (Dai Kou min) seemed busy. We also tried the Ipoh famous dessert, the steamed egg custard. It tasted ok but not fantastic. This place is located in the heart of Ipoh new town which can be easily reached. I find there are many other kopitiams in Ipoh serve better food than this one.

Restoran Pulau Sembilan is a culinary gem located in Pasir Puteh, celebrated for its mouthwatering kai si hor fun. This delightful dish features silky smooth chicken kuey teow available in both dry and soup versions, each offering a unique flavor profile that keeps diners coming back for more. Despite the change in ownership, the quality of this beloved dish remains high, with generous portions of hor fun, tender chicken, and succulent prawns at an affordable price.
One of our favourite neighbourhood restaurants and always popular with the locals. Unfortunately or fortunately, I can only attest to the quality of one dish as that is what we order every single time and of course it is their famous gai see hor fun! The noodles are always silky smooth and the broth is rich and flavorful with the essence of shrimp. Their drinks are also very good and generously sized especially their Milo Ais! Have not been here in two years as a result of the pandemic and very little has changed with the exception of the famous 雞絲河粉 stand changing hands. But no worries, the new owners is just as good as the old one with silky smooth noodles, delicate broth highly flavoured with shrimp oil and chicken was tasty with good texture. For a change of pace, I had the Jawa mee from the famous Nasi Lemak stand who of course was already sold out an hour before we showed up! Their fresh juices are excellent. My personal favourite is apple and lemon. Their coffee is also one of the BEST in the area as well. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal was actually their steamed kaya toast which is incredibly light and delicate. Not to be missed!

Located in the quiet Ipoh town of Taman Boon Bak. Came for breakfast and found only kai si hor fun and 小炒 is good whereas the rest of the food are below average. Kai si hor fun - We can taste the chicken essence in the soup with a hint of umami taste from the prawn oil. You can opt to order a side dish of bean sprout and chicken slice as a side dish which is equally good. Another credit to the stall owner, he really kept his stall near and clean. 炒河粉 and 星洲米粉 - both dish are filled with wok hei and balanced flavor, and it’s not oily

Variety choices of food.. but personally think that only two are worth eating.. fried hor fun and sing chou meehon is soooooo good.. got wok hei and flavourful 👍🏻 .. then the Kai si hor fun too..taugeh is fresh and crunchy, chicken meat is tender and juicy.. the noodle itself is tasty with it clear broth 😋…

Kai See Hor Fun with prawns- never had the opportunity to try the OG stall so I do not have a basis for comparison. We found it decent - the broth was sweet and comforting and the hor fun was smooth and silky. We tried the prawn dim sum which was also not too bad and reasonably priced.

Their hor fun noodle and chicken are SUPERB!! 👍👍 👍 The hor fun's texture is super smooth and have a little transparent look to it. Unlike all other shop's horfun, I think they have the BEST hor fun! However, their soup can be improved as there's not much of the prwan taste to it, and tend to be sweet and salty at the same time. RM7 for a small bowl, still ok, there's shredded chicken which the texture is chewy and tender, kiew choi, two prawns (slightly u nfresh), and no bean sprouts. Overall, the hor fun and chicken saved the day. Their chicken again is tender and very aromatic 👍 we ordered chicken drumstick rice, one pax, served in chicken with rice, not separated. Rice is decent, aromatic. Overall, pretty good! (sorry, no pic😅) As for the bean sprouts, good like other shop's bean sprouts. I think their soy sauce is a bit overpowering, but overall is good. Definitely worth to try! And the price is cheap for good food👍

First try. Nice hor fun as usual in Ipoh. Chicken meat very tender but over seasoned with oil. Remember to enquiry less chicken oil version (include hor fun), for better taste of chicken meat fragrance and chicken broth.

Came here 4th time already. This chicken rice taste much much better than the so called famous ones in town center which i been there few times. I came to this Fatt Gor by chance one of the day.. and surprised with the taste where i opted out the 2 shops in ipoh town center. Ordered portions of chicken with taugeh.. rice and hor-fun soup. Sapu clean clean. You shld give this a try to see if fits your taste.

Update June 2024: stall taken over by a disciple, standard has much to improve. It is a food court and this is a small stall. The chicken is nicely done, to us, it is worth a detour. Somehow the chicken fat turned into a special jelly, and the chicken meat is delicious. The beansprout done ipoh style, is just normal. Typical ipoh quality. The hor fun soup is nice, the hor fun is typical ipoh quality. We would visit again, this time to enjoy a big plate of chicken.

So so hakka noodle. Had better hakka noodle than this. Tasteless fish and meat balls.
Pk C — Google review
1. Unlike other food stall or restaurant, they hardly give chance to customer to select the amount of meat balls or tauhu. It just like convenient for the senior boss to calculate the final bill, one person order a Hakka mee with standard 5 meatballs, as a customer, it's like you could have the freedom to select whether you want just 3 pieces instead of 5. 2. Don't expect this as the 'original hakka mee', the way they prepare it, IT'S NOT. Inside full of soy, where the original Hakka mee doesn't made such way. For original, check out around Pasir Puteh. Google it and you'll find one or two. 3. There's is plenty of hakka mee which is much tastier than this one. The reason it could stands for years purely there is less competitors in early years compares today. Once old and long reputation been set, there is always a bunch of loyalty old customer who keeps ob supporting and promote. 4. Suppose we goin to rate 2 instead of 1, this is the main factor why we downgrade it to 1 star. MANNER. The senior boss who takes order and collect money was like giving the customer a bossy face and reaction, furthermore without saying a simple thank you when we settling the bill. Thumbs down.
DREGS T — Google review
Scammed by ordering hakka mee but bill come up to RM22. When ask, say due to fish balls which I never ordered! Don't come here! Mee also lousy

Siam Laksa and Penang Curry Mee 👌🏻
Alicia C — Google review
I thought my Siam Laksa got mixed up with another person's order as the dish presentation looked similar to the seller's Nyonya Curry. When my eye spotted the flaked fish, I wasted no time digging in. First, a sip of the fish broth. There's a moderate amount of creaminess in it. The mint leaves and bunga kantan provided the distinctive aroma and taste that associates with laksa. Good balance of sour, spicy and savoury flavour. That spoon of lime juice, I poured all of it into the broth. Dish tasted even better, enhancing the flavours of all the other ingredients and felt less heavy. I was glad to order the lor bak. The sweet and savoury meat complemented the Siam Laksa. The seller also has other dishes like Nyonya Curry and Pig Trotters Mee and they are good too.

Chinese restaurant
Restoran Tauge Ayam Lou Wong is a popular spot in Ipoh, known for its Ngar Choi Kai (Steamed Chicken with Beansprouts), a local specialty. Despite becoming touristy over the years, it attracts people from all walks of life. The enormous water tankards soaking beansprouts and the overflowing tables during dinner time reflect its popularity.
The is a well known chicken rice cafe in Ipoh. The cafe has no air conditioning and most of the tables are placed on the street (actually at the side of the road). So, if you are looking for a nice place to dine, this cafe may not suit you. Because of its name, it is quite busy even on weekdays. The dinner session starts at 6:00 pm and close when the foods are sold out. The staff are extremely efficient. Foods are normally sold out at 7:30 to 8:00 pm. Please be there at 6:00 pm if you want to try most of their signature dishes. The foods are not bad but I found it a bit salty. I also that the chickens are not free range chickens and hence the “taste of chicken” is rather light! The bean sprouts are good though!
Frank W — Google review
We have been a few times and it is one of our go to places for Ipoh chicken & bean sprouts. Here are some points bout this place and my dining experience: - Seats & tables are by the roadside or in the restaurant though limited tables. There is no air conditioning in the restaurant. For a more airy seating, the outdoor seating is better. - They have retractable awnings which will provide a level of protection if there is rain. - Order is placed with staff who will approach to take your order. It is stock standard service as you would expect. - Payment is by cash or e-payment. - Chicken is of firm texture. The sauce was a bit on the oily side. Flavour wise was pretty alright. - Bean sprouts too were a bit on the oily side. Flavour and texture wise was pretty good. - Sometimes there may be street vendors who approach diners selling their wares. I would come back but probably may need to tell them to cut down on the oil.
J F — Google review
I love the soya sauce based hor fun (order dry instead of soup). The texture of the noodles were soft and it absorbed the taste very well. Next, the pork ball was delicious too. The bean sprouts were crunchy and tasted sweet. The chicken was delicious but I think the person did not know how to chop the chicken nicely. The angle and the shape doesn't confirm to the normal on how chicken should be chopped! The chicken feet cold dish was ok only. Will skip this for sure!!
Sheue N — Google review
Succulent chicken that cooked to perfection and paired with nice soy based sauce to give it a rich umami saltiness. The rice is fragrant and fluffy albeit of the drier style instead of the oilier types common with chicken rice. Both the dry and soup based hor fun(rice noodles) are nicely done. Order based on your preference, the dry version is heavier in taste. The soy bean sprouts are plump and crunchy and is slightly undercooked giving it a taste similar to salad. This might be a bit of an acquired taste for those not used to it. Take note there is actually a queue system and it is not free seating. This is slightly confusing as there are minimal signage to highlight this.

Located in a central area popular with tourists. I visited around 6:30 pm and only waited about five minutes in line. As it was my first dine in visit, I wasn’t familiar with the menu, but the lady taking our order seemed quite busy and rushed, there wasn’t much time to look through it properly, I just made a quick choice and skipped the side dish. The chicken was smooth and tender, and the accompanying soy sauce had a unique, delicious flavor. Overall, I enjoyed the chicken rice, just wish service had been a little better.
Vanessa T — Google review
A very ordinary restaurant, I’d never go back. I was alone so found a table easily. Server came over and threw a menu on the table. Then came back and asked what I wanted to drink. I said Beer, but they don’t sell beer, so I oped for a hot Chinese tea. The tea came out, lukewarm, in a plastic cup, with a plastic straw! Horrible. The menu wasn’t big (despite the size of the restaurant) so I just ordered the Single Chicken and rice. He wanted to sell me beansprouts but I didn’t want any. Food came out quickly and the chicken was cold….not just warm, but cold. Thankfully the rice was hot which made the meal edible. The chicken tasted ok but half of it was just fat and bones. Lots of people there, obviously tourists like me. A local would never go there, certainly not twice. I won’t go back either.
Anthony B — Google review
Visited Lou Wong during my trip to Ipoh and tried their famous bean sprout chicken. The steamed chicken was tender and paired well with the crunchy bean sprouts and smooth hor fun. Service was fast despite the crowd, and the atmosphere felt lively and traditional. However, it was quite hot and crowded inside, and the food, while good, felt a bit overrated compared to other local spots. Still, it's worth a visit if you want to experience one of Ipoh’s iconic eateries.

Had the chicken which wasnt too tender type, and also the ipoh horfun. The horfun was silky and smooth but the soup might be just a little too salty. Chicken feet was good. A good to try if you are in the area.

Yuk Sou Hin is a restaurant located in the Weil Hotel, offering a modern twist on traditional Chinese cuisine. The menu, carefully curated by skilled chefs, features innovative dishes alongside classic favorites. Guests rave about the signature smoked duck and luxurious dim sum made with premium ingredients. The elegant dining experience and friendly staff add to the restaurant's appeal, although parking may be challenging due to its popularity.
Was treated here for a CNY lunch, and I will say it's one of the best chinese meals I ever had in Ipoh. Their Smoked Duck with Lychee Wood, their signature menu was amazing, thin, fatless, crispy skin with soft tender meat and a nice smokey hint. We also had their pineapple sweet sour chicken, which had a suble flavor, perfect to be eaten on its own. Their salted egg prawn was another fabulous dish we had. Again, flavors are not overwhelming, so it can be enjoyed just on their own. Their fried rice with crab meat and scallop was superb, good wokhei and flavor, and scallops cooked perfectly in the rice. We also had their kailan with garlic, and its amazing how they juliene up the leafy part and had it deep fried till crispy. For dessert, we got some chilled mango puree with sago, chilled avacado puree with sago and some osmanthus jelly, which I like very much.

Hidden gem of a restaurant in Ipoh. Six of us had dinner: Smoke Duck; Kai Lan 2 ways; Tofu with Luffa Crab Meat; Supreme Fried Rice; Deep-fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk. I liked the fried rice with the chilli condiment a lot. But honestly every dish was yummy. Even the desserts. I highly recommend the warm Water Chestnut and Aloe Vera Egg Soup. If in Ipoh make it a point to dine here at least once, even if you are not staying at the Weil Hotel.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yuk Sou Hin, renowned for its exquisite roast duck, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. The ambiance immerses you in a Chinese dining experience. The star of the show, the roast duck, was simply outstanding – perfectly crispy skin encasing tender, succulent meat bursting with flavor. Each bite was a delightful journey of taste and texture. The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Chinese dishes, all expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and attention to detail. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring a memorable dining experience.

Came here for lunch during CNY. They had lion dance troupe coming in today. Many staff, including chef, waiters and captain were excited. Maybe service was lacking a little in that way. (forgivable). Environment was a little dark for me. Could be a little brighter for me. Came just to try their Signature smoked duck. I must say it is unique. Very rarely or none smoke duck has crispy skin. It is nice. My family enjoyed it. The rest of the dishes are good too. Another plus point for healthy eaters, this place states their food is free of MSG. So eat at ease without worrying about your health. I wanted to try their salted egg prawns, but due to CNY season, their menu is limited. May come another time to try other dishes and the smoked duck again!

Assam Laksa @ Big Tree Foot (Dai Shu Geok) is a must-visit spot in Ipoh, Perak. Located in the neighborhood of Pasir Panji, this renowned eatery offers an array of delectable Yong Tau Foo dishes that are beloved by locals and visitors alike. The restaurant's specialty, Hakka-style stuffed tofu served with curry noodles, is particularly popular among patrons.
Love the yong tau foo. The fried ones were huge and tasted better than the boiled ones . The dry noodle sauce tasted like satay sauce while the assam laksa was also very tasty. Another must try is the red bean drink. It is very thick and not too sweet. We also ordered popiah which was delicious with a lot of crispy stuff inside. Went on a weekday am. Not crowded at all.

This was my first visit to this famous noodle restaurant, even though I'm from Ipoh. I came here with my family for the first time and really appreciate how they maintain the natural aesthetic of the place, embracing its beauty. As for the food, it was good—I'm not going to lie. They offer a wide variety of fried fish balls and yong tau foo. Both the curry noodles and soup noodles were equally delicious. I’ve definitely found a new spot to satisfy my soup cravings.

Long queue next door so had lunch here 2:30pm on a Saturday. The Yong tow foo are just okay. Nothing special. The chee cheong fun was alright although the gravy was way too sweet for my liking. The red bean drink was good.

Long time haven’t been to dai shu geok since MCO. Fried yeong tau foo and the vegetables yeong tau foo are still decent and tasty. There are frequent batch of fresh fried yeong tau foo. However the laksa & red bean ice are disappointment. Rojak taste is acceptable.

Name Big Tree because situated right within few big trees. Young tao fu and asamlaksa is just average. The ice red bean is however nice.

Hmm, a bug difference from what I had many years ago. The fried items were definitely more oily, less crispy. Some items like the fried turnip were harder than I remembered. But I would still recommend going for the experience and see how it feels like under the Big Tree. For those going for the first time, just pick up a basket near the cashier, line up to pick your items and tell the cashier what noodles you want and your table number.

Whenever I visit Ipoh, I make time (& tummy space) for this place. My favourite Yong Tau Fu (a dish of various fish-paste stuffed soy products and vegetables), this shop has since split into 3 different outlets, side by side; but I find the one on the rightmost side the better one. Among the dishes, my favourite is the Sar Kok Liew (fried mashed turnip cake) & the Fried Sui Gow (meat dumplings); eaten with a bowl curry noodles. End the meal with a bowl of refreshing aiyu bing (iced jelly dessert) for a satisfying meal 😋

Restoran New Holly Wood, also known as Hollywood, is a popular spot in Ipoh for halal Chinese cuisine with a local twist. This mini food court offers a variety of halal Chinese hawker favorites such as freshly made chee cheong fun, char kuey teow, fried yong tau foo, curry mee, half-boiled eggs on toast and fluffy chakoi. Additionally, they serve Western dishes and nasi kandar later in the day.
Hi good afternoon everyone! Wanna share this nostalgic restaurant/kopitiam… pork free yah as its been around for many years! Many stalls sell pork free food…variety alot from curry noodles, fried koay teow, chee cheong fun, wantan noodle, western breakfast, chicken rice, prawn noodle, Siam Laksa, toast etc kopi , teh, one stop! But i come here mostly for the authentic, traditional - Siam Laksa which is made & sold by Chris the lady owner! Best Siam Laksa I have tasted ! Price Rm8 , for me I never waste the soup … bersih till last drop! You can taste the non fishy ikan tongkol soup in the siam laksa! Fresh pudina leaves, pineapple & cucumber makes it more appetising! This place is closed every Monday & opens at 8am till finished by noon or 2-3pm! Very very popular breakfast place for all races especially the Malays! Be prepared to queue for table if it’s a weekend/public holidays! Support local please as many stalls have been there for many years & customers who have been coming here for years n never come again coz they have moved to their final rest place forever!

I’ve visited this spot for breakfast twice, both times around 8 am, and it was not too busy, so we simply walked right in. The service and atmosphere here is typical of casual eateries (kopitian) in Malaysia. Please note when I left there were a few families lining up to get in. During my first visit, I tried the Asam Laksa. It may have looked plain (I didn’t take a picture), but it was bursting with flavor! I couldn't resist coming back for a second visit to sample the Hokkien Mee (also known as prawn mee or mee udang). This time, I made sure to snap a photo before diving in. What’s great about this Hokkien Mee is that it’s made with our Muslim friends in mind, so there’s no pork in it. I genuinely think the flavor competes with some of the best I've tasted in Penang (I am from Penang)! The portion size was generous, and it looked fantastic too. Overall, I had a lovely experience at this place. Thanks for reading about my breakfast adventures!

This kopitiam really got the Malaysian feel, can see Chinese, Malay, Indian all sit together makan, very happening. The chee cheong fun quite nice, laksa also not bad got that pineapple taste, curry mee ok-ok la, quite lemak. Only thing a bit turn off is the drink price, small teh panas already RM2.80, a bit mahal.

This is the only place where you can find food from all kinds of cuisines — Chinese, Indian, Malay, and even Western, all in one spot. No need to queue this time; we got a seat right away. Today I ordered prawn chee cheong fun, fried kuey teow with egg, spicy pan mee, and two hot teas. The taste has stayed the same over the years — only the prices have changed, of course. Prices range from RM2.80 to RM8 for both food and drinks.

Whoever comes to this place sure must be loving the old-Chinese-shop vibe and the food was surprisingly good and cheap 😭 - Must try; Hainan Chicken Rice, the prawn Char Kuey Teoe with soy sauce, Yong Tau Foo. Got nasi kandar also, looks people are queuing. - Waiting time very fast, you just need to order at the stall and pay straight away and give ur table number. - Bring my kid, the waiter understands so they give us better table and spaces - Price is reasonably good

Yum Yum Restaurant in Ipoh is a cozy and comfortable place that offers delicious Nyonya food. The friendly and fast service staff can recommend dishes, making the dining experience even better. The pandan chicken is well-marinated and aromatic, while the prawn and ladies finger dishes are also highly recommended.
A charming gem in Ipoh that has retained its nostalgic charm over the years. Stepping into Yum Yum feels like a warm embrace from the past, with its lovingly curated decor and familiar ambience. The food remains consistently delightful — from the rich, tangy fish head curry to the crispy pandan chicken and the unique fried brinjal, each dish is full of flavour and heart. Service is friendly, and the setting cosy. A must-visit for anyone seeking a comforting, home-style Peranakan meal with timeless appeal.

Yum Yum Restaurant is located in central Ipoh and is a popular dining venue for both tourists and locals. It specialises in Nonya food, which is Chinese and Malay cuisines mixed together. I enjoyed dining here and thought that the food was tasty. I liked each of the dishes I ate. They were cooked well, and each had its own distinct taste. Each set of food was nicely presented on a good-looking serving dish. Service was great. It was really warm, welcoming, and efficient. Staff were working very hard. I also appreciated the layout of the restaurant. The mix of traditional Malay and Chinese decorations added to the nice atmosphere.

Walking in to this restaurant, very nice ambience. Came with a few locals, if not I doubt will find this place 🤣. Always trust the locals when it comes to local food. And boy they will never be wrong. Service was fairly fast. Ordered few dishes, the pandan chicken, petai prawn, taugeh was just umamilicious. Delicious, full stop. The fish was however kinda made my total review 4 instead of 5 stars. It didn’t contain enough ooommpphhh unfortunately. Taste didn’t jump up, kinda bland for me. Would I come back here, a definitely yes. Overall more positives than negatives 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

It was my first time to this restaurant and it came recommended as one of the go to for locals. It was an enjoyable meal and here are my highlights: - The restaurant has 2 levels and when it is crowded, they will open up the top floor to house more patrons. We were seated on the top floor and they switched on the air conditioner. It was a pleasant temperature that made the dining experience pleasant. - The decor is vintage and adds on to the ambience of the place. - All the dishes we ordered were nice to eat and we enjoyed them. - Payment can be by cash or card. Payment is after the meal is done and before leaving. - The older lady who served us was very friendly and helpful. - Street parking is available around the restaurant but can be challenging to find a spot during busy times. It is a place worth trying.

Excellent Nyonya style restaurant. Fried Brinjal is very delicious and same with the Yum yum fried egg. Udang lemak is delicious too and spicy. Fried sotong ok only. Signature tofu also not really special but overall taste is delicious.

The crispy eggplant was soooo good and crispy! The fish head curry? Absolute comfort food. The gravy was rich, tangy, and packed with spice, perfect for drowning over rice. The fish was fresh and tender – every scoop was happiness. And the kerabu mango salad was the best refresher – tangy, crunchy, a little spicy, super addictive. Totally balanced out all the richness from the sambal and curry. Overall: 10/10 meal, full of spice, flavor, and good vibes! 🌶️✨

Set on a Balinese Thai theme, Little offer customer with a cozy atmosphere. Food wise, it is up to standard but on a pricey side. Service is attentive with well trained staff. A nice place for some photography session. Parking is ample.

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the price. The ambiance was disappointing right from the start—it was so dimly lit that I could barely read the menu, let alone see my food properly. Despite being advertised as a Thai restaurant, the menu had very few authentic Thai dishes. What was offered was underwhelming—some items were incredibly basic, while others simply didn’t taste good. Would I return? Absolutely not. Would I recommend it to anyone I know? Definitely not. For the price, this place just isn’t worth it.

We loved the music and the atmosphere, it was relaxing. The staff was friendly and helpful. For the food, I would say okay. Okay doesn't mean good. The fish and chips, so so. The lamb satay, my lamb lover friend told me it was overcooked. The little elephant burgers were okay. But drinks, better choose something simple and don't try anything that you have not heard before. Well, you might like it but not me. The price is on the high side.

Abit of luxury… price like hotel restaurant… table service could be better. Waiter not well know of their own menu, but does repeat orders. Not enough order 5 mains only give 4 sets cutlery The ac is very strong, and hints of lemongrass throughout the whole restaurant. Food is generally tasty. The mains portion are good, but tom yam soup portion is ridicule, and the dessert bowl is gigantic.

Our first disappointment was at 9:30 pm when the waitress informed us that the kitchen would close at 9:45 pm, but Google stated that their business hours are until 11pm. If there are any changes to business hours, it is crucial to update as those who come from far have to order and eat in a hurry because they have no other choice or time to search for other shops. The food was overpriced and the taste was average, to be honest. Pineapple friend rice, meatball spaghetti, lychee rose, iced lemon tea, and bottle of mineral water cost Rm104 for 2 people. In my view, we can find better and more satisfying food in various cafes or shops that are willing to pay this amount instead of paying for bland food.

An Asian fusion food restaurant with interesting decor and ample car park spaces. Looks well kept and inviting. The food looked good, and quality is there. However, I felt that it’s a watered down versions of local food. The cendol was an exception, with good texture. Overall an interesting place to relax for dinner.

The Museum in Ipoh has made it to the Malaysia Tatler Best Restaurants list, attracting visitors with its rich history and impressive decor. The fusion cuisine offers unique dishes like local vegetables with yuzu dressing and dried shrimp, as well as juicy salt-baked chicken. Guests can enjoy early dinners without reservations, but booking ahead is recommended due to high demand. The famous 'towing char siew' melts in your mouth, while live seafood and fresh veggies add to the dining experience.
It was Wednesday, arrived around 6pm and we were lucky to get a table without reservation. but I would advise you to make advance booking because it was full house by 7pm. No doubts, they serve good foods especially their signature dishes.

The dining environment is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent. It's best to call ahead and book a table to avoid long waits during peak dining hours. Try their specialty dishes, I think they're all delicious and worth trying. The ingredients are fresh, and the dishes are perfect in aroma and taste.
Giselle L — Google review
Look, there's something lost in translation. The Chinese name for the Museum is ghost-style/demon-style restaurant, which suggests an otherworldly experience. With that in mind, they do stand out among the regular, run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurants for the decor and more importantly, the food. The exterior looks like a glitzy 1950s movie theater, but with a prominent red and black facade. The interior is adorned with red walls, booth seats, an elevated wooden platform, a fireplace, shelves of (fake) hardcover books, and a bar area. The aesthetic choices are well, eclectic, but the sum of it, somehow works. Night after night they perform in front of packed houses. In fact, reservations are crucial to securing a table. And what of the food? Yet again, eclectic, but effective. Everyone comes for their famous char siew (barbecue pork), and siew yuk (roast pork). The former is a smoky, tender, lightly-charred, salty-sweet, thick-cut slices of pork belly that melts in your mouth, a definite highlight and must-try. The latter is well-seasoned, thick cut pork belly cubes with crispy crunchy skin and presented erect. I dig that. The other highlights are the shellfish. The lala clams (Venus clams) cooked with wine, and curry giant cockles are always recommended. Rich in flavour and super-sized, cooked til juicy and tender. Rarely do you encounter cockles of this size! For vegetables, the sambal paku-pakis (fiddlehead ferns) are a delightful plate of spice and texture. This should round off an excellent meal for a family of four. Yes they do have ordinary dishes like tomato eggs and sweet-sour pork, but you can have them anywhere else! Prices are on the high side, but you get what you paid for. Come for the food, stay for the fun. The Museum delivers for lovers of pork and shellfish.

This is definitely one of the more unique Chinese restaurants in Ipoh, best known for serving what many consider the best Char Siew in town. We stopped by for an early dinner before heading north. KH Guide & Rating :- • Accessibility : 4/5 (corner lot, easily noticeable with plenty of parking) • Cleanliness : 4/5 • Ambience : 4/5 (decor resembles Chinese restaurants you’d typically find in European countries) • Food quality : 4/5 (the Char Siew was excellent. However, the noodles still had a trace of boric acid taste, and the braised Yee Mee was rather average and overly salty for our liking). Fried lala in basil leaf was recommended. • Pricing : 3.5/5 (slightly on the higher side for the price level) • Attentiveness : 5/5 • Would visit again : Occasionally, if in Ipoh again.

View from the restaurant outside you never thought it was a good restaurant. It was recommended by local friend. All food that we ordered was awesome, I love the char siew, cold vege, steam fish and the fried chicken. Need to make a reservation if not you might couldn’t get a seat.

Great service from Junnie and Fong! Our group of 10 pax had a beautiful time at this establishment. We love the Guinness and Heineken draft! Good point is no corkage charge if bring own bottle of wine. Overall food tasted yummy but just a little more salt will be better. Roasted Char Siew was fantastic! Better than the ones that we had tried at KL. Air con was cool. Table for 10 pax was big enough and we didnt feel squeezy. Food served was tad too quick though so our table was filled to the brim with all the food and it turned cold so fast. If they can improve on this area then it is perfect. We were seated at 7.15pm which was the second serving therefore need not rush as many patrons from other tables had left too. Other than that, we had an awesome experience at your restaurant.

Fabulous dinner experience! Beautifully decorated interior. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Although all of the tables were reserved, they were incredibly accommodating and still got us a big table further away from the air conditioning so our elderly guests would not be too cold while they had their dinner. They took very good care of us so we had a fabulous dining experience The food was absolutely fabulous. Of course their signature 叉燒 (BBQ Pork) stole the show! The glaze was sweet and sticky and the pork belly was grilled to smoky perfection. All of the other dishes were also top notch including the salted egg stir fried vegetable three ways and steamed lala clams. Looking forward to returning soon to try other dishes on their extensive menu.

Don't let the facade of an English pub fool you. Enticing you with the old English interior with draught beers and stouts to salivate your palate with Chinese dishes with a twist of fun flavors. That cold thai paku salad is simply divine, with the fresh, juicy & plump cockles paired with scrumptious char siew.

Restoran Xin Quan Fang is a popular spot known for its famous Curry Mee, a dish of noodles topped with coconut milk and served with generous portions of pork, chicken, and shrimp. The restaurant is often crowded, but the wait is worth it for this local favorite. In addition to their signature Curry Mee, they also offer a variety of options including soup and dry curry mee served with steamed chicken, roasted pork, and prawns.
Glad we got there early, the line got really long not long after! The curry was super flavorful and definitely hit the spot. If you're in town on vacation and have some time to spare, it's worth checking out.

One of the more famous hainese curry noodle from Ipoh. The Recipe have not changed for more than 50 years. There is smell of herbs on the broth which you will not find it elsewhere. Place is limited in the restaurant and expect to wait during peak time. Don't expect good service here but worth a try.

Grumpy curry noodles lady boss, not friendly at all but aside of that the curry noodles taste good. Is different style from Penang curry mee. The shop that I want to go was closed so came here. After so many years did not visit, this round is not a good experience. No more next time. We ordered coffee already then decided to order toast. So we told the lady who sells curry mee, her face and reaction was impatient. Asked us to order mee not toast. Toast will be another guy. That time was not many customer, but her reaction really made us annoy. The guy who take cares the drinks is really good manner and polite. The service 3 stars gives to the guy. Not cheap for a bowl of curry mee, RM9.50. No second time.

We reached here at 8.30am before the crowd starts streaming in. Love the curry bee hoon mee soup that goes well with the fresh and well seasoned side dishes of roast pork, char siew, chicken, pig’s scalp and bean sprouts. We also ordered additional pig’s skin and innards. They make really good coffee too.

Chang Jiang White Coffee in Ipoh is a must-visit spot for coffee lovers. Housed in a charming bungalow, this cafe offers luscious and smooth white coffee topped with foam for extra smoothness. In addition to the famous white coffee, visitors can savor noodle dishes, toast bread with kaya, minced meat noodles, and various Chinese items. The cafe also sells 3-in-1 white coffee sachets for those who want to enjoy it at home.
I visited around 12PM for lunch and it wasn’t too crowded. The menu book had a cute, classic old-style design that added to the charm. I ordered chicken rice, soft boiled eggs, and a hot white coffee. All were good and served within 10 to 15 minutes. I came by online taxi so I didn’t experience the parking myself, but as I was leaving, I noticed quite a few cars parked along the side of the road near the entrance. Overall, the prices were reasonable, the place carried a nice classic vibe, and the dining experience was pleasant. Definitely worth the time and money for a simple, satisfying meal.

Another nice spot to chill and enjoy a refreshing cup of iced tea. The place has a pleasant environment with cosy ambience, perfect for relaxing. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. I came during the weekend and was lucky enough to get a parking spot since space is quite limited. I tried the iced milk tea, which had a rich, strong tea flavour that I really enjoyed, and the egg tart was delightful—soft and creamy inside with just the right texture. Overall, it was a satisfying experience and definitely worth a visit.

Another one of Ipoh famous breakfast location, one can consider to have breakfast here rather than at the hotel. The food choices are your typical Ipoh breakfast and it is cooked excellently and at speed. One need not need to wait for his/her orders. The restaurant opens sharp 8am and you have to queue to order at counter. Parking is aplenty and free. Plenty of seats too!. There is also a small section where you can purchase coffee and tea!

After a unexpected little climb at Perak Cave.. it's fortunate we found this place for a good white coffee. I choose their specialty Wangcher white coffee with kaw kaw teh. They have a good selection of toast, noodles and rice dishes. Egg tart is soft. Wifey like the sweet potato ball. Unfortunately, the ending wasn't great. We pack 3 of their specialty coffee. We discovered before leaving it's not what we wanted. They refuse to change. "key in system cannot change". I told them I have not even left the restaurant. After much blah², they finally agreed to change the pack. Staff seem divided. The young local staff that hardly talk doing the serving and the Chinese staff that kind of run the place.

Came here for brunch. The waiter recommended the hometown soup which was served with noodles. Loved the noodles and the soup. Had their white coffee and it has stronger roast taste of the coffee beans, which I like. Service wasn’t friendly. Saw several miscommunication between waiters not to me but to other customers. It was quite crowded during my visit hence the confusion occurred. It’s hard to get parking space too.

Sun Marpoh Restaurant is a renowned dining spot in Ipoh, offering contemporary Chinese cuisine with a focus on Cantonese delicacies. The restaurant prides itself on serving exquisite dishes that blend tender chicken, puffy rice, and flavorful gravy to create a symphony of flavors. With nearly 30 years of experience, Sun Marpoh has become a household name in Ipoh for its genuine and tasty Chinese food at fair prices.
This nostalgic restaurant is a true gem, and it’s no surprise that it’s always packed with patrons every time I visit. The charm of the place has stood the test of time, offering dishes that are consistently well-cooked and bursting with fresh ingredients. Whether it’s their signature classics or comforting homestyle dishes, every bite brings back fond memories and satisfies the taste buds. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for both family gatherings and casual meals. A timeless favourite that continues to impress—definitely worth the wait!

Visited this place for dinner on a Tuesday evening. We arrived at 7pm and the place was crowded but were given a table quickly. Here's my opinion on this restaurant. Food - we ordered black pepper venison, steamed eggs, sliced fish with chaipoh, tofu vegetable soup and salted fish fried rice noodles. All tasted good except for the soup which was quite bland. Service - dishes were served quickly after placing our order, despite of the crowd. The only problem is the bill was not itemized so you wouldn't know what you're paying for. Atmosphere - a typical local Chinese restaurant setting with reasonably good ventilation. Overall a good dining experience as expected.

Tried Sun Marpoh Restaurant in Ipoh Garden, but it was underwhelming despite its popularity. Food: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ Ordered: Curry Fish Head – Not good at all. The curry lacked depth, and the fish didn’t taste fresh. It was pre-cooked, which affected both texture and flavor. Definitely not worth trying. Claypot Salted Pork – Also pre-cooked, which took away the rich, smoky aroma expected from a claypot dish. The meat was slightly dry. Vegetables with Red Dates – The only dish that was okay, but nothing memorable. Since the food was not freshly prepared, it arrived quickly but at the expense of quality. Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ There were a lot of workers, so service was fast, but mainly because they served pre-made dishes. Efficient, but not impressive. Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ The restaurant was crowded and noisy, but the space was clean. Not ideal for a comfortable dining experience. Price: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ For the quality of food, especially the pre-cooked dishes, the price wasn’t justified. Overall: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ Overrated and not worth the hype. The curry fish was disappointing, and pre-cooked food ruined the experience. Will consider other shops instead.

Nestled in the heart of Ipoh, Hoong Tho Restaurant has been a beloved culinary landmark since its inception in 1948. This charming eatery is celebrated for its authentic Cantonese dishes that evoke nostalgia and tradition. Diners can savor an impressive selection of classic offerings, including their renowned roasted duck and lotus leaf rice, alongside sizzling black pepper beef that showcases time-honored recipes passed down through generations.
Great place to go if you want to try unique / authentic traditional Cantonese and Hakka food! The 50 years’ old restaurant is also very honest to give warning or questioning about the dish we wanted to order if we could finished! We (5 +2) had the whole chicken stuffed in pork stomach soup dish (need to pre order). It’s amazing ! And yam fried with kailan and the pork lard net spring roll were very good too! A very old gem in ipoh. We stopped by ipoh for dinner and stumbled upon this shop. Very nice nostalgia vibe for a zhao lou in IPOH. The portion of the food is bigger than we expected. We order the famous hoong tho noodle and crabstick yee mee for our mains. And 2 small side dishes of homemade fishball and dumpling preserved egg. The dumpling preserved egg did a very good mixture. Truly impressed by that. Love the texture of the highlight noodle as well

Went to Hoong Tho in Ipoh expecting a good meal, but the service completely RUINED the experience. The staff were RUDE and it felt like we were a bother to them just by being there. When we asked simple questions about the menu, they responded inpatiently and with an attitude. Food might be okay, but honestly, it’s hard to enjoy it when you’re treated so poorly. Won’t be coming back, and definitely WOULDN'T recommend it to anyone who values good customer service.

The food was pretty good, but the service was disappointing. There were two servers taking orders — one was a larger guy and the other of regular build. Unfortunately, the regular-sized server attended to our table. The menu was poorly printed and difficult to read, so I politely asked for another copy. His response was rude: “Well, all the menus are the same. What do you expect? Do you want one with a light on it?” Then he walked away. Later, I ordered through the larger server instead, who was much nicer and more professional. While the food itself was enjoyable, the unpleasant service experience means I won’t be returning to this restaurant.

Loved the old-school vibes at Hoong Tho! The place has that nostalgic charm with its vintage decor and classic Chinese kopitiam feel. Super cosy and full of character. The food was tasty—especially the fried glass noodle, ginger beef hor fun , horney fried pork belly and the bean sprouts with crispy pork bits. Simple but really satisfying. Service was fast even though it was quite busy. A great spot if you're into heritage-style places and local Chinese dishes. Would definitely come back to try more!

This is a review only about the cempedak cake. The cempedak cake I used to have was moist, fragrant and with quite good chunks of cempedak. Sadly, this round, it is very different. The cake was dry as I believe they have changed to use superfine flour and this resulted in big cempedak chunks being at the bottom of the cake instead of being nicely spread around. I tout it as the best cempedak cake in Ipoh beating Embassy, so this was really disappointing. If this is the quality going forward, then I won't recommend it to friends nor would I buy it.

Nestled in the heart of Ipoh, Paris Restaurant is a hidden gem that beckons food enthusiasts to indulge in its signature dish: Hakka Mee. This delightful bowl of noodles boasts an exquisite texture, reminiscent of silky bean curd skin, and is generously adorned with minced pork that clings to each strand. The slightly salty flavor profile resonates deeply with locals who grew up savoring this comforting meal.
Some locals say the Hakka Mee here is pricey and tastes ordinary, but I honestly find it very tasty! The noodles are freshly made, the minced pork is full of flavor, and the garlic chili sauce makes it perfect. I’ve been coming here since my teenage years, and this authentic Ipoh taste is something I can’t find anywhere else.

Noodles are really good. Single size is never good enough. Order at least a double or a one half, badly named as it is a literal translation. For the ingredients, if I were to order again, I would skip the dry fried ones and just go for two bowls of the soup ones. The fried ones were cold on serving.

If one is looking for delicious Hakka Mee, look no further. You are at the right place. Existed for umpteen decades operated by the same owner, I must say the Hakka Mee is the best that I’ve tasted. Noodles are made by themselves, soft texture & with very aromatic egg + flour taste. Can’t find such 🍜 elsewhere. When mixed with the minced pork, it’s “match made in heaven”! There’s multiple condiments to go along i.e. chopped garlic, fish sauce, soy sauce & even chilli sauce. It gives different flavour to the noodles but I like best eaten without any of the sauce to savour its originality as well as aromatic noodles. This Hakka Mee has set a benchmark that’s difficult to beat and I’m in the quest to hunt for a close contender 😂. The Hakka Mee is available in 3 sizes: Small (single), Medium (x1½) & Large (x2) which is priced at RM4️⃣, RM5️⃣ & RM6️⃣ respectively. As for fishball, meatball, tofu & other fried turnip, there’s nothing to shout about. Similarly for the drinks which is just run-of-the-mill. Overall a very delicious Hakka Mee that’s hard to beat & I’m eagerly looking forward to catch the next contender that can clinch the top title. I’m giving 5⭐️ for the Hakka noodles itself but others are just average. Hence overall it’s 4⭐️ for it.

Wanted to try the famed Hakka Mee at Paris Restaurant, so gave it a try one of the mornings we had in Ipoh. Service is quick, and even though the owner is grumpy he’s just trying to make things move faster. The place was quite packed at around 10AM on a weekday. We ordered the following - 1) Hakka Mee (Yin Yau Kui) - Comes with nice springy noodles and minced meat along with their homemade sauce. While the noodles was soft, I felt the dish was more on the saltier side and hence just ok. We weren’t able to communicate our order properly and ended up with a lot of Fishballs and meatballs in a bowl of soup. Mix them thoroughly to absorb the flavour along with the noodles. 2) Kaya Toast - Really nice kaya, and has more of a coconutty flavour than the commercially available kaya. Lighter in color. Really liked it. 3) White coffee - Good, strong coffee. So good, we ordered an extra cup for ourselves.

Update 8 Nov 2023 Hakka noodles remains good. Weekday crowd is a lot lesser hence no need to rush. No complaints from the last time till now. The boss remains accomodating 👍🏻 Have been frequenting this restaurant for my hakka mee fixes for many years now. Once tried, you will likely not eat any other hakka mee offerings. The stall is run by a few blokes. The one waiting on tables (wears an earing) is a friendly chap and is a true hakka bloke. Hence, do converse with him in hakka when you are there. Noodles are nice and springy. The accompaniment of fried minced beef and sauce makes it delicious. Recommended to add a bit of fish sauce (available on each table) into the noodles before tucking in. The peripherals comprising meat balls, fish balls, flying balls (fei yuin in cantonese) and tauhu is a must. In all honesty, the tauhu tasted a lot better in the earlier days when they make it by hand. The dips comprising their house chilli blend and preserved garlic is excellent.

What the hell is this chicken mix noodle with only 1 prawn sliced into 2 and it cost RM16.80 ? Food here is really downgrading Ipoh delicacies! Please avoid coming to this shop ! Waited 40mins and their service… out of words !
Jaylene G — Google review
Foods are above average. Beef stew taste very good but not the best I've tasted. Still, there are better ones back in KL with even cheaper price point and better taste but this one certainly isn't bad either. The chili sauce is very good and must match with the beef stew for perfecting the meal. White coffee is very good and highly recommended to try.

孃料 are quite good, and many variety. The soup base is also considered ipoh standard and not bad, but not like very exceptionally good. Well integrated with grab. There are some good discount there.

Any curry mee in Ipoh is edible but not all open all the time. This shop open even late afternoon and comes with not curry mee but beef noodle and Ipoh Yong tau foo all good. Worth a try if you are in Ipoh

Went on Sunday morning. It was almost full house. There is one aunty came to take our order. I believe she is the person in charge there as she handles cashier too. She is very rude and impatient. Totally hate her service. The foreign worker serves us better than her. The food there is expensive. They even charge us RM2 for a small bowl of curry. The food taste is normal only. The atmosphere is very noisy. You have to shout to talk. I rather go to Big Tree Foot to have it although there is no aircond. Definitely won't return there anymore.

The Food and service was good but the price is considerably a bit higher. The noodle with roasted pork, one piece prawn and some chicken slices cost RM 15. Overall I had food.

I love the food here. It's really good and price is very reasonable. The cooking reminds me of homeccookedfood. They also have a single person rice dish. I love the soup choices here too Awesome. Keep up the good work

The staff were very friendly and attentive. If I ever come back, I'll definitely be back! The food was delicious and... By the way, the lemon juice ingredient... exquisite! Thank you!

Have not been here for a few years and decided to go on a Friday night with my husband. Once I entered the place, there was a funny smell and I just thought it was because the place is old. The host sat us at a table and that area smelled as well. We placed our orders for the following items (not exact names): * Salted Vegetable Soup * Seafood Fried Egg * Tofu with Minced Meat * Vegetable (Yau Mak) * Chinese Tea (cold) The dishes took a while to reach us and we were starving by then. The food was alright, definitely not as good as before and there were a lot of dishes that were "sold out" (probably because we came late). While eating, we saw a roach crawling across the dining hall. The price for the food is mid level pricing, a little more expensive than usual. I would probably not return there, the smell in the place really solidified my decision.
Charmaine C — Google review
All the food that we ordered was sooo good ! The chicken was so tender and juicy. Beancurd is so cripsy on the outside and soft inside. Coconut soup is so fresh and sweet. Our most favorite dish is their classic homemade beancurd. A must try dishes if you are here. Need to come at an off peak hour to avoid crowd and long waiting time. It worth it.
Angelina L — Google review
I googled and read the reviews before came, knowing that the only down side of this restaurant is long waiting time. And indeed yes, it took around 40 minutes for us to get the meal served. After the meal, I would comment the follow: Taste of the food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Environment: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Waiting time: ⭐️⭐️ Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Piece of advice, do have something in your stomach to cater the waiting time, nevertheless, I personally finds that it worth the waits. There is plenty of parking space opposite junction
Cadmon — Google review
If can I don’t even want to give one stars, they seriously not deserve it。They should tell us the estimate time when we sit down to let us decide eat or not. After we order we wait for more than 40 minutes and if I don’t ask for it ,I think they will continue to let us wait. The most important is I already wait for 40 minutes then only tell me the things that I order is already sold out! When I paying for the bill I tell the boss(?) about this problem , the boss just tell us because a lot of delivery orders. So? Only care about the delivery orders and no need to care for the dine-in customer just let them to wait for so long?!

At Seafood Recipe, a pork-free restaurant in Ipoh, diners are treated to an exceptional culinary experience centered around fresh seafood. Renowned for its expertise in preparing raw crab and frozen seafood, the highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the Crab Seafood Platter. Guests can savor succulent crab paired with their choice of three tantalizing sauces: dry curry, chili garlic, or buttermilk Kam Heong. The atmosphere at Seafood Recipe is inviting and charming, complemented by attentive service that enhances your dining experience.
All the foods we ordered tasted good, highly recommended to try and the crab is on promotion. The environment and the service is also great.

Food served fast, they have promotion on crab,rm39 for two pieces of M size crabs, cooked gamheong style,we ordered baby octopus ,alot of meat and crispy, the crab meat soup also tasty . Price wise is high but still okay. Service is good! Sour plum juice is good and thick

This is quite a new restaurant opened about a year ago. Formerly, this restaurant was known as 怡悦飯店. Food was reasonably good, especially their set lunch, and the price was quite a steal too. Their crab dish tasted good, but be prepared to pay for the price.
Shee L — Google review
It was one of my worst dining experiences in many years. A supposedly crab specialty restaurant, yet a lack of the basic utensils (crab spoon/fork and a bowl of lemon-in-water for hand-wash ) for eating crab. Below average customer service. I ordered the mid-size twin crab meal as I am dining alone. The plate served with cut out pieces of 2 crabs with a typical (somewhat overly sweet) sauce. Only 1/4 of the crab appear to be fresh and enjoyable; the rest were simply a pain just to peel the pathetically loose flesh out from the thick shell on top of the dryness of the flesh. What made the dining worse is the attitude of the staff. The lady who took my order, after I requested for a crab fork/spoon, told me she'll give feedback to her boss instead of providing an immediate solution. Finally, a foreign staff who doesn't seem to understand any local language was put to serve the customers?
Teong C — Google review
The price is so cheap. 12 dishes for Rm377.50 for 8 pax (6 adults + 2 child - super can eat), include 11 rice n drinks). Would give it a 5 star if only The 4 Heavenly Dish they dun use cabbage as a substitute for ladys finger. It make the sambal gravy become watery (as cabbage tends to be watery after cooking it) not recommended & for the CURRY FISH HEAD (again they use green capsicum to replace the ladys finger) haizzzzzz. Spoil the dish. All they food are nice in terms of taste n presentation. Easy to find parking.

Clean and orderly. Great restaurant ambience. I did not take their seafood, which are the pricier items on the menu. Recommended to make prior reservation if coming in a large group and to confirm the availability of crabs, fish (for example) or other seafood.
Emily L — Google review
Food is good! Arrive early because it gets crowded during meal times. We ordered 3 dishes: Yam ring - cooked well Tofu - soft and good Creamy salted egg crab - sauce is delicious, crabs were small though even though they were sold as "large". Fried mantou (bread) goes well with the sauce, a different take than how it is done in Singapore. Service staff were quite good, accommodated my infant nephew. Take note that you must order at least 2 crabs per flavour. A pity as we would have loved to try other flavours.
Keshia L — Google review
Was craving for crab after dinner and came across this shop. Different crab sizes available with variety of cooking method. I chose the salted egg yolk and the signature spicy chilli with mantou. Delicious. Worth my trip there. Recommended

A family-owned business that serves delicious fish meat noodles. We had the milk broth (“sin nai”) and “seong tong” broth noodles with fish fillet. The portion is huge and they are very generous with the fish meat. The price now is around RM14 but is very worth it. The soup is a bit on the salty side but still ok.

Laksa Saranghae in Ipoh offers a unique variation of the popular Asam Laksa, a soup noodle dish made from fish broth with tamarind and various ingredients like mackerel, cucumbers, shallots, and more. The restaurant also serves other diverse dishes such as Nasi Goreng and Ipoh Laksa with its almost curry-like broth.
My first time tried the laksa. Although there are many other options, western and Malaysian dood. We ordered special laksa. A bowl full of nice condiments served thick yummy savoury soup. Highly recommended. Only the drawback was hot ambience because the restaurant have no air-condition.

Tasty laksa and dessert served here. Inside the restaurant is a bit hot even though the fun is on and a fly was annoying. Outside seating might be cooler than inside.
Hana — Google review
As its name, this shop mainly serves laksa sarang. There are few selection of laksa. The taste of fish broth is quite light, salty and watery. However the laksa taste is still there. The portion served match the price. They also serve local and western food. Their staff s are responsive!
Schzwan 9 — Google review
Came here on a weekday so not many patrons. The dishes n drinks were quick to arrive. Although the kuah laksa itself was a bit cair, everything else were good. Big portions, kuah was tasty n I loved it, plenty of condiments added n all of these were served in a clay pot bowl. Price too seemed reasonable. Wife ordered the Laksa Special n it had the signature sarang burung condiment n looked presentable n very appetising. Have to add that the workers seemed polite, attentive n seemed more service oriented or it is coz this is not KayEl so ppl here r generally kinder n less stressed. In summary, recommend to visit here for tasty n very filling laksa dishes.
Ahmad Z — Google review
The service was amazing, friendly staff, they even recommended us to get cozier and colder space in their store since the other place was hot. But the fried rice really need improvement. Nasi Goreng Chicken Chop’s fried rice isn’t supposed to be a kicap fried rice. Really spoiled the food. The chicken chop was good. My gf ordered laksa sarang and she loved it. Hope for some rnd to be done with the fried rice cuz the chicken chop is really good.

Everything was ok. The attraction - laksa saranghae & coconut shake was delicious 👍. Western/local dishes was ok. Don't forget to try roti arab (with sardin/chicken curry). A bit stuffy even at night (current weather). Service consider fast as 80% crowd at the time. Parking can be tricky as the one way road quite narrow, can park beside main road.

Ipoh Tuck Kee Ancient Taste Sdn Bhd is known for its kuei teow with egg, sprouts, and flavorful squid dish. Came here with family on our last night in Ipoh. There were both indoor and al fresco dining option. We tried the 月光河粉, Hokkien noodle, wan tan hor, steamed sotong, braised chicken feet and deep fried kangkong and bean sprouts. Overall is a decent meal. You can skip the fried kangkong drizzled with mayo. The sotong was chewy and accompanied with chilli sauce, it was quite appetizing.
Grace C — Google review
Not sure why among all the tuck kee.. this has the worst rating.. but I find the offering here decent and quite similar to the other ones nearby. Food is cooked fresh.. service is fast.. the place is comfortable. Nothing much really to fault imo. Worth a shot especially if you don’t have to wait.

Stir fry meehoon and kuey tiaw is bland and no wok hei. Hokkien mee is bland too. Pork slices are not fresh, smells bad too. Nam yu chicken wing is surprisingly good Bean sprout is good 👍🏻 Overall, I won’t recommend this shop to anyone.
Alice — Google review
The food is delicious and very authentic. The squid is fresh, and the fish balls are springy. The "Moonlight Hor Fun" is especially unique.
Esten Y — Google review
Crowded. I think because of the location. Taste wise so so. A bit disappointing for me especially the wat tan hor. Normal fried noodle still ok. Tourist spot only
LIONG M — Google review
Easy parking, fast food, no wait. We ordered a lettuce (玻璃生菜),bean sprout, octopus, hokkien mee and wattanhor. When the Hokkien Mee (Dai Lok Min) was served, the noodle is in pieces and not in continuous length. Very less pork lard or pork lard taste, lightly seasoned and the black broth is too watery/soupy to my liking. The watanhor was served in a huge bowl, supposedly should have thick broth but it's as soup instead. Lacks flavour and the soft noodles were all clumped up together. Lettuce, octopus and bean sprout were cooked nice and well seasoned. The best thing were their in house chilli paste: flavourful, sweet and not too spicy. However good the chilli paste is, the main dishes made my day worse 🎉🥂

Kafe Little Nam Yeong is a popular coffee shop located at 8 Jalan Chew Sin Onn, Taman Hoover, Ipoh. It opens daily from 6am to 1.45pm, with occasional closures three days a month. The place is known for its delicious toast and half-boiled eggs set, featuring thin and crispy toast that's highly recommended. Their Ipoh kai si hor fun (chicken noodle) is also a must-try dish.
Kafe Little Nam Yeong in Ipoh is a culinary gem that offers an authentic taste of local Malaysian cuisine. Their prawn noodles are a standout, featuring a rich, flavorful broth and generous toppings that make for a satisfying meal. Another must-try is their butter kaya toasted bread, which is both delicious and affordably priced. The toast melts in your mouth, providing a delightful start to your day. For those seeking something unique, the soy sauce jellyfish and octopus dish is highly recommended. This special offering combines jellyfish and octopus with bean sprouts in a distinctive sauce that captivates the palate. The shredded chicken hor fun is another highlight, offering a superior taste experience compared to more tourist-centric spots. Additionally, their self-made herbal tea, prepared with pure ingredients and naturally sweet without added sugar, is a refreshing beverage choice. Overall, Kafe Little Nam Yeong provides a delightful dining experience with its diverse menu and authentic flavors, making it a must-visit for anyone in Ipoh.

I’ve been here many times years before this, but today was utterly disappointing. Ordered the usual Kai Si Hor Fun and sadly, the quality has deteriorated. In one of the photos, you can see a bowl of noodles with soup — not mine, but that was how it was presented to me as well. Once I’ve stirred the noodles to mix with the soup, it became like the second photo… barely any soup. Noodles were too soft, barely any broth so I was basically just ate a few spoons of tasteless noodles and I ended up only finishing the chicken and crab stick. Disappointing that it has come to this point.
Amy W — Google review
Overrated recommendation found at xhs. 鸡丝河粉 soup taste weirdly sweet. Don't hav the real umami prawn taste. The sotong steam taste average. Coffee and roti bakar served here also disappointed. Coffee taste bitter and over condensed milk sweetness. Roti bakar just average. However I see surrounding old folks locals are eating prawn noodles from another stall. Wonder is it the prawn noodles taste better than the overrated chicken noodles
CE W — Google review
A typical kopitiam which has a range of hawker fair. The "kai see" hor fun has great broth, typical of Ipoh style. The meat balls were great with nuce bouce and flavour. The kaya toast bread is also delicious as it isndone slightly different where the top slice of the bread is thinly slice, leaving a nice crisp infused with butter and kaya. The prawn noodles were average as the broth was a bit bland. The chillybshauce was also a disappointment. One other thing is that the kopitiam is a bit dim and sunlight is blocked by the cafe.
Kim C — Google review
Do not understand why the kai si hor fun served w the crabstick. The crabstick may add color to the dish but kill the authenticity of the traditional noodle of Ipoh. The broth was palatable but not remarkable and has no distinct character. The bean sprouts, chicken feet and jelly were not bad.
Angela Y — Google review
First, the Kai si hor fun was really good. One of the better ones in Ipoh. They also sell some squid with jelly fish. To me, it's ok only. 2nd, the fried kway teow deserved 3.8 stars. Not 4, because it needs more wok hei. There are better ones mentioned in my other post. The toast bread is a Must order. No point coming here and not eating the toast bread. The Kaya , butter, or whatever spread ordered, will be generously spread on the crispy bread. The bread is crispy because its thinly cut.
Sheue N — Google review
The toast and half boiled eggs set are great. Highly recommended to try the toast. It's very special. Thin slice and very crispy. The Ipoh kai si hor fun(chicken noodle) is also very nice. Must try. Just order the normal one which costs RM7.00 per bowl. Add on will cost you RM12 (just 2 fish balls and some chicken meat) which i found it unreasonable. The white coffee is good. The place is always packed.

Chinese noodle restaurant
Nestled in the charming Buntong neighborhood, Cheong Kee Wan Tan Mee is a hidden gem that many tourists overlook. This local eatery specializes exclusively in wan tan mee, serving up what many claim to be the best homemade noodles around. The chef, a third-generation lady, has perfected her family recipe over the years, resulting in delightfully chewy noodles that are simply unforgettable.
A hearty plate of wanton mee, rich in tradition and flavour. I've been enjoying this since childhood, and now it's lovingly prepared by the second and third generations of the family. They start serving as early as 4:30 PM, keeping the legacy alive with every plate. Usually i opt out their drinks.
Chockying C — Google review
A popular Wantan Mee spot among locals. The wantan was soft and tasty, definitely a highlight. Noodles were decent but lacked the springy texture I expected. Limited seating, and service gets slow during peak hours. Worth a try if you're in the area.
Chee S — Google review
Al dente, and that is how good wantanmin should be. On that score, this shop wins big. They make their own noodles, so theirs is not the factory type that gets soggy seconds after being blanched. But that is the only good. I am afraid to say the sauce/gravy is rather bland. The saving grace is there is a salty-vinegary chilli sauce available, with which I poured plentifully onto my plate like how it is done in many wantanmin shops in Melaka and Johor. My wife ordered the soup noodles and was satisfied, after adding soy sauce. We will definitely go back, if only for the al dente noodles. No complaints at all about the wan tan, soft and meaty.
Fish M — Google review
Ipoh. The wantan mee in Ipoh is indeed unique but less tasty than the Penang, KL versions. The noodles, wantan fillings and skin are handmade in-house, including the braised pork strips instead of “char siu.” The “nga choi” (bean sprouts) with the noodles was interesting, and paired well. The soup noodle was too bland, but the thin-skinned wantan was excellent. Located outside the city center, but a worthwhile trip if only for a one-of-a-kind wantan mee experience.
RC — Google review
Distinct from the usual offerings, this establishment embodies their distinctive style. Overall, I found the experience satisfactory. The texture and size of the food were commendable, and the price was reasonable. However, the shop was rather subdued when we arrived, and we had to wait a brief period before our food arrived. Additionally, the drink was rather bland.

The noodles not much taste need to add more green chili to eat together with the noodles. Wonton ok but the soups no taste as well.

We ordered lamb shank, aglio olio pasta with chicken, a set of Jade Perch fish asam pedas for 3 persons and banana split + drinks (latte, teh tarik and cold lemon tea), and everything came so perfect! Literally sumpah sedap! Lamb shank so flavorful and the meat falls off the bone so easily, big portion with zucchini and mushrooms on the side. The asam pedas was the best, pedas yet so delicious. We simply cleaned off the plates, licin! The price was also very affordable, the lamb shank was rm51 per shank, the asam pedas set for 3 was about rm40, all in all we paid about rm150 total for 5 persons. Thank you The Limestone's restaurant at Regalodge Hotel. We love your food. Oh ya, the staffs were also very friendly, helpful and nice..always smiling. Thank you again, keep up the good job ya guys.

Sorry to say but was extremely disappointed with the food and services here. We were waiting to be seated, there was a large size Indian service staff in jacket who saw us and continued to sit at one of the corner tables with his phone in his hands. A lady waitress finally saw us and brought us to our reserved table. Only 1 table was taken when we entered the restaurant. Was here quite a few years back when it was a Spanish restaurant. Back to have the paella, can’t believe they don’t even know the right way to cook it. All the ingredients were cooked separately then placed on top of the rice cooked in sauce. Worst paella we ever had. The stew beef rib was the most disappointing. Asked the waiter to check on my order after waiting for almost hour, it was such a letdown to taste the worst beef stew I ever had. The gravy was almost dry, I think they used microwave or oven to heat up the stew and forgot about it. It was sooo salty and doesn’t have the right taste for stew. I took one bite and left the whole dish untouched after that. The same guy in jacket was going to clear the table saw the almost untouched servings but didn’t even ask what was wrong with the food. We paid the bill in full before talking to the manager, as we didn’t want to give the impression that we were asking for a refund. There was no reasonable respond from her or I should say she just looked at us blankly. We walked out hungry and angry. Don’t waste your time and money here.

Complementary breakfast. Place a bit small, so is not conducive for dining if packed with hotel guests. Average taste. Spread of food mostly Malaysian. These include pre-cooked mee goreng, porridge with pickled vege, roti, nasi lemak, bao, roti canai, sausages, samosa, baked beans, toasted bread, noodle soup, etc. Would be better if can keep these food hot/warm. Anyway, a convenient breakfast meal before beginning a tour of the city.

At 紫薇園 Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat x 鸡煲之家 Chicken Claypot House in Ipoh, diners can enjoy a spacious and inviting atmosphere with both indoor air-conditioned seating and an outdoor area perfect for those who prefer a more authentic experience. This restaurant uniquely combines steamboat and clay pot dishes, offering an extensive variety of options that cater to families looking for a delightful meal together.
The pin location on google map is wrong. Leads to the back of the restaurant. Pls fix it. Food is good. Good service too. Recommend to sit outside for charcoal steamboat. Much more authentic. Got live band after 9pm.

Overall food was good but portion was a bit small. Need to order quite a bit more, became a bit pricier compared to others. Fish pot taste was good but not much fillet there. Chicken pot was tasty but can be a bit too salty, not recommended if you have hypertension. Ingredients were fresh but pricey. Atmosphere: wide space for both AC and non-AC seatings. Clean Friendly and helpful staff Verdict: do try it if you don’t mind the price. I’ll come back again when there’s a special occasion.

Very spacious dining area. There's outdoor and indoor(air conditioning) available. Combining steamboat and clay pot. It offers more variety of choices. Suitable for family dining. Food faste was great, you may choose from different soup and spicy level. Will come back again for others dishes.

The soap is really nice. Great service ! Strongly recommended for fish steamboat.
Astee H — Google review
Came here to try their 鱼炉and鸡煲after my bro's recommendation. Would say that it's more like average steamboat style for the fish pot. As for 鸡煲 a little too heavy taste, salty and might need rice to eat along with. Overall pricing is on high side. We ordered their set menu, a big fish pot + a big chicken pot for eight pax, ordered chinese tea and total bill around RM530. Portion is decent but taste average.
Louise A — Google review
Nice fish head soup as usual. Alof of parking spaces. There is a open air space and also a cozy aircond room with lots of tables available. Staffs are very friendly. Thumbs up!
Kenneth L — Google review
Ordered fish for hot pot but it came half bones and half fish meat. When asked about it, the server said this is usually how they do it, giving customer half inedible fish bone with fish meat. Felt cheated. We paid 350g - rm48 but we got mostly bones and even a fish eye. We like the rest of the food but fish bones cannot be sold as fish meat, it’s just unacceptable.
CYNTHIA D — Google review
Spacious dining area, just limited tables inside the aircond area/room. Luckily outside of aircond area not so hot. Overall the herbal chicken claypot and the tomato soup steamboat were 👌. The meat, meatballs and other steamboat ingredients look fresh, just price will be on the higher end.

Yoon Kee Bean Sprouts Chicken is a beloved Malaysian dish that features tender poached chicken, fragrant steamed rice, and blanched bean sprouts seasoned with soy sauce. Originating from the Hainan province in China, this dish has become a staple in Ipoh's culinary scene thanks to Chinese migrants. The locally grown bean sprouts are known for their crisp texture and fresh taste, attributed to the local water.
Majority supported by local. Taste good and reasonable price. Will come again. The jelly fish is perfect serve I like. Open seating that can order any stalls you like

One of the best Chicken Hor Fan Soup in town. The soup is flavourful and there is a long queue. Mee Kicap has an old traditional taste.

This was my wife's favorite spot for bean sprout chicken growing up, so we made a quick stop here for dinner on our way back from KL. The chicken was still as smooth and tender as ever, and the bean sprouts were fat, juicy, and full of flavor. A great stopover for a satisfying meal—highly recommended!

Located at Ipoh stadium food court. Very good Hainan chicken rice. Cooked to perfection. Meat is very tender. Sauce is not too salty. Famous Ipoh Beansprout did not over cooked as it is very crunchy. Curry chicken is not bad either. Plenty of parking available and stall only open for dinner time
Wyndson L — Google review
I came here for the beansprout chicken but what you really should come for is the chicken hor fun soup noodle. The soup is very flavourful and thick and there's a generous amount of chicken. The rice was good but not as good as the hor fun. . I think this place is more known to the locals as there wasn't a crowd here on Sunday. Located at the Perak Stadium food court, there's plenty of parking and in the evening there was a cool breeze. Chicken Tauge + Rice and one Hor Fun soup came up to RM21 at the time of writing.
Kaylee K — Google review
The chicken rice is sumptuous. It's bearded chicken (Wu Soh Kai) is best. Must go early especially on weekends coz it's always full. This stall is at Stadium Ipoh. Half chicken plus taugeh & rice is rm44. The CKT, Chicken Hor Fun, Grilled Tau Hu & Fruit Rojak from other stalls are just as nice. There's one malay stall selling packet nasi lemak at rm2.50 & satay is also worth trying

Restoran Li Heng Fatt, also known as 利興發茶室, is a popular spot in Ipoh offering delectable Kai Si Hor Fun. While there are numerous options for this dish in the area, Restoran Li Heng Fatt has made a name for itself with its unique and flavorful rendition of the classic.
Super good noodles and Yong Tau Foo, randomly discovered. the crispy cracker is a must order. Somehow a good supper dish :) would definitely return here
Yew K — Google review
This place is situated at the GP food court. It is famous for its fish balls and fish dumplings/products. I got the 'all in one' hor fun. The horfun soup is very basic and bland. But the fish ball soup is too heavily seasoned. It's too salty to my liking. But I must say. The fish balls are very nice. Ordering process is simple. Just pick the fish balls or fish cakes you want, then choose your noodles, voila. Then you are given a vibrating pager to wait at your table. You will be called when the food is ready. Price is reasonable.

After they move to the current location, it is less convenient to go there. So I have not been there for a while. The soup was really tasty, nice bowl of Hor Hee. There are many ingredients to choose from, I like the stuff green chilli, crispy bean curd skin & the yongtaufoo.
CW — Google review
Pretty good stuff. Noodle a bit tasteless but the items were great. Lots of different choices and quite appropriately priced. The highlight was the fried bean curd. You could take away an extra pack for rm6 per pack. Not too cheap but it was really good. One of the best I've had.
Jeremy C — Google review
A decent place to get some wholesome "hor hee" ... a dish made famous by the teochew clan, where one can have a bowl of kuey teow soup accompanied by nice bouncy fishball, slices of fish cake, and the signature fish meat dumpling. If you notice, we used the word "wholesome" as it was really wholesome. The fishball, fish cake and even the fishmeat dumpling and the noodles were all authentic. The soup base is mild. So what is wrong? Actually nothing is wrong if you like what we have described but what is served at Li Heng Fatt is the modified version. Everything is authentic other than the soup base. It lacks body (too mild) as the authentic soup base has a heavier taste and is accompanied with "tongue choy". Frankly, a real bowl of authentic "hor hee" is an acquired taste food due to the heavy soup base. Hence, we described Li Heng Fatt version as "wholesome hor hee", but not the authentic version. Very likely, Li Heng Fatt has modified the recipe to suit its customer base, who loves the fishball, fish cake and the fishmeat dumpling, but can't fully accept the authentic heavy soup base of a real hor hee. Verdict: Yes we will return if we just want to have the fishballs, fishcake and fishmeat dumpling. Reason being the stall that sells the real authentic hor hee moves around between Jalan Lahat (weekdays) and Hollywood kopitiam Canning Garden (weekends). It is always crowded and finishes quite early. So if can't catch the authentic one, Li Heng Fatt is a good alternative. (Disclaimer: have to reconfirm if the real authentic shop is still operating in Jalan Lahat and Canning Garden)
OurSage M — Google review
Very nice hor hee soup though the soup is a bit salty for me. We loved the fried beancurb skin the most. It was crispy and not oily at all. The fried beancurb and fried fishcake were soft and tender. It was delicious. The fish wantons was a bit salty. We had the Amira plum and the taste was yummy! 沙梨酸梅,太好喝了。

Restaurant
Chee Wah Coffee Shop is a family-run business that offers a simple yet satisfying menu, mainly featuring two signature dishes: clay pot noodles and deep-fried chicken wings. The rat tail noodles are cooked to perfection in a comforting broth with pork balls and eggs, topped with fried garlic bits and red chili paste for an added kick. The clay pot lou shu fun is described as a hybrid of porridge and lou shu fun, served with freshly cracked eggs.
I'm back again for the delicious "lo shu fan." This restaurant solely sells claypot lo shu fan and chicken wings. They only open for dinner. Despite the limited items in the restaurant but it's packed with customers. Got to be honest. It's really delicious and affordable. This restaurant has been around for at least 50 years. The claypot lou shu fan broth are very silky and smooth with ground pork, pork lard, and a few baby shrimp. It's a very satisfying light dinner that won't make you feel bloated 😆
Lee O — Google review
We visited the restaurant for the first time ever after we read high review about delicious food. When we were reached, the boss greeted us and brings us to a table. Then I started to ask / order our food. The boss is somewhat reacted like I am asking for fun or something. He looks like not so reluctant to engage with me. Anyway, apart from this, the food is indeed delicious.
Heidi S — Google review
Came to [Chee Wah] which sold only 2 items, Claypot Loh Shu Fun and Chicken Wings. It reads and sounds like such an odd combo to specialise in, and I honestly thought, looking at the pictures that the Claypot noodles would be bland and boring, but was I wrong! Everything ate homely and soul warming. The Claypot noodles was like Congee but using rat-tail noodles, and the marinade used for chicken wings had a taste profile like paper-wrapped chicken but pepperier and texturally superior because this was crispy on the outside!
Floyd L — Google review
Tucked quietly along one of Ipoh’s busier streets, Chee Wah Coffee Shop is the kind of place you’d likely overlook if you didn’t know what to look for. Unassuming and easy to miss, it sits just off the main hustle and bustle, a true hidden gem waiting to be discovered by curious food lovers. The menu here is as focused as it gets — only two items are served: lou shu fun (also known as mouse or rat noodles) and chicken wings. But what they lack in variety, they more than make up for in execution. The lou shu fun is not your typical version. Served in a hotpot with a clear broth (a refreshing change from the usual dark soy-based version), it comes loaded with squid, prawns, and a freshly cracked egg stirred in just before serving. A generous dose of crispy lard adds richness and depth, tying everything together into a dish that’s both comforting and flavorful. It’s hearty without being heavy — a well-balanced bowl that hits the spot. The real surprise, however, comes from the chicken wings. Perfectly grilled with a deliciously smoky char, they rival — and arguably surpass — the more famous ones at Jalan Alor’s Wong Ah Wah. Juicy, well-seasoned, and addictively moreish, these wings alone are worth the visit. Drinks are average and limited, but frankly, no one’s coming here for the beverages. Service, on the other hand, is commendable — friendly, fast, and attentive without being overbearing.

It's an unexpected visit to this dinner place. Was told by hotel staff this place was famous locally for claypot lou shu fen and fried which wing.. so decide to try. This is an old building hence it doesn't have any nice decor etc. nevertheless the claypot lou shu fen was heavenly each pot served 2 pax. 2 eggs added when served piping hot. Silky smooth flavorful lou shu fen.. indeed taste nice and simple. U know it's local favorite when most customer are local and old uncles aunties with family. It's packed when I arrived and still packed when I leave. Have to queue a bit. The fried chic wing was ok as side dish.

When in Ipoh, don't miss out on Wan Li Xiang Salted Chicken and Salted Duck. This local specialty involves wrapping chicken with Chinese herbs and baking it in salt, resulting in a flavorful and aromatic dish. The thin BBQ meat is a standout feature, making it a popular choice among various brands. While the price may be higher than others, the delicious taste makes it worth the cost.
We have tried many places that serves claypot chicken rice and Wan Li Xiang serves one of the best claypot chicken rice! Reasonably priced, very flavourful and very flexible with options. Thet also served other dishes.

A great place to buy salted chicken or duck delicacies. A variety of cooking and preparing the meat which is essentially baked in salt. The poultry meat is tender, of the right blend of saltish flavour and herbs. An ideal gift to friends, especially outstation ones. A fulfilling and satisfying complement to a heavy meal at home. Location of Wan Li Xiang (萬里香) is not the corner lot any more along Yau Tet Shin street as shown in Google map of 2014. Its present location is the second shop lot since 2015. Its original strategic corner is now occupied by Happiness Authentic Local Delights (囍洋洋).

Dec. 2021.,bought 3 frozen salted WLX chicken and took them home to Alor Setar. Next day my youngest sister took one out of freezer and steam it. Results? Taste okay, not too salty and possess herbal fragrance. My whole family says no complaints. Price Rm27 each. Compare to other brands l have tasted from lpoh l would say it is the best for now. Size wise it is above average after my family also steam the remaining 2 chickens. Keep it up!

Nestled near the scenic Ipoh Padang, Kedai Kopi Fatt Kee is a charming eatery that embodies the essence of traditional Hainanese coffee culture. This delightful spot offers an array of local Chinese dishes, with its Hailam curry chicken noodle taking center stage. The dish features a rich and creamy broth that's mildly spicy, making it a favorite among visitors.
One leisurely weekend afternoon in Ipoh, around 4 pm, my wife and I, hungry and in search of an open eatery, discovered Kedai Kopi Fatt Kee. Having relied on Google Maps for suggestions, we promptly parked our car nearby and strolled over to the restaurant. Upon arrival, we noticed several occupied tables but fortunately found a vacant one for ourselves. When we inquired about the menu, we learned that many items were sold out as the restaurant had been serving since breakfast. However, they still offered braised yee mee (mun yee mee), and hungry as we were, we gladly ordered it. Additionally, we noticed a separate stall outside the restaurant selling mi goreng mamak. Intrigued, I placed an order along with a refreshing bowl of cendol ABC. All three items we ordered turned out to be delightful, and the cendol ABC was especially satisfying on a hot, sunny day. Payments for orders from the restaurant were made at the cashier inside, while orders from the stall were settled with the respective stall owners. Situated next to Padang Ipoh, the restaurant enjoys a breezy location and is easily accessible. While parking spots may be in high demand, a bit of patience usually pays off as some visitors vacate spaces after a short wait. With the positive experience, we're inclined to return on our next visit to Ipoh.
Fakhruddin — Google review
I like the old school charm of this eatery. Cendol itself was good but the other ingredients including red beans, gula melaka and coconut milk were meagre in quantity and mediocre in quality.
CK C — Google review
There are two shops opposite Ipoh padang selling mi goreng mamak and rojak. I prefer this one😊. This brother's stall is in front of the coffee shop. Very friendly man. 😁The mi goreng was aromatic and perfectly fried (not the wet kind). The rojak was yum and not overly sweet like at some shops. We had kopi peng as well. This place is highly recommended 👍👍

Second time here. Kopitiams never disappoint. New experience trying Lemon Cincau. Refreshing but can't taste the cincau's sweetness. Crowd for the mee goreng. Ordered pasembur. Taste good. The kuah is abit spicy. Di hujung2 sahaja. Overall was a good experience. Went for a walk in Padang Ipoh.

Kedai Kopi Fatt Kee, located near Ipoh Padang, is well known for its traditional Hainanese coffee shop atmosphere and a variety of local Chinese dishes. The standout dish is their Hailam curry chicken noodle, which are rich and creamy with a flavorful, mildly spicy broth. Many patrons rave about the braised yee mee and Hailam dried curry chicken noodle. The shop has a nostalgic vibe, drawing in both locals and tourists. However, it can get crowded during peak hours, and finding a table might require patience. In short, if you're seeking authentic, hearty Chinese comfort food in Ipoh, Kedai Kopi Fatt Kee offers a great selection, especially for lovers of curry-based dishes.
Sashi N — Google review
A must try when you come down to Ipoh. The glutinous rice / pulut cendol is a must try. The mee rebus was delicious, tastes really good. They also have variety of other food items like rojak, iced jelly, pasembor, mee goreng, fried rices. Located in front of Ipoh field (Padang Besar). Parking might be hard to get during peak hours as it is located at down town area.

I'm rating the inside restaurant, Kedai Kopp. Had several meals there (chicken ginger and scallion several times) and for the price, the quality of food is exceptional. Don't expect dazzling service, just good, wholesome family fare. Quite underrated. It will be my go to restaurant when I return.
