Dance club
Located in the heart of "Millionaires Street" in Ipoh, Bricks & Barrels is a well-preserved heritage establishment that has been serving fresh drinks and delicious food for over 80 years. This trendy pub and gastro bar offers a wide range of world-renowned beers, whiskeys, wines, and sumptuous dishes like lamb shank and pork ribs. Guests can enjoy live band performances, themed parties, or simply relax in the beer garden.
It was so good that we were there 2 evenings in a row. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The 2 person band was very entertaining. We spontaneously started to dance. Mind you I am 75 but 20 in my ❤️ 😂 Amazing

Came here for couple of drinks. Ordered a tower, 2 cocktails and a mocktail. The mocktail was nice. The tower was decent. Disappointed with the cocktails. Tasted watered down and not so much flavor. Even though we ordered passionfruit mojito and piña colada. Environment wise. Outside sitting was better as the live band was too loud. Ear piercing music. Someone should look into the balance of sound. They were almost screaming into the mic. Hence we had to just sit outside after attempted to sit inside for 1 minute. Songs selection was great. Just cannot stand the volume. Too much treble i think. Service …… mmmm…. The waiter had to repeat so many times to reconfirm the order and can yet miss out some. Go in and come back reconfirm. Maybe can take note on paper instead.

Bricks and Barrels offers a great ambience where you can truly relax and unwind. The live band does an excellent job of entertaining guests, effortlessly playing requested songs and keeping the mood lively. However, the DJ's music was a bit too loud at times, possibly due to less skill in sound control and the venue's acoustics. Despite that, it remains a fantastic spot for weekenders looking to escape the hustle of the city and work stress. Overall, a great place to chill with good vibes!
Cecilia K — Google review
Nice place, the bands there play remix pop song. Drinks are nice
Picor D — Google review
Overpriced for what they offer. Food portion was ridiculously small, and definitely not worth the money. Please do spend some money come to bars in kl and learn!

Fun night here in ipoh Good band, DJ Friendly staff also Everything is great
Krisna P — Google review
Bricks and Barrels Perak is… an experience, though not in the way you’d hope. Imagine paying several times the price of a regular bar, only to be serenaded all night by the exact same Malay-style DJ playlist, on loop, as if variety were an optional extra. The crowd is predominantly Malay, which would be perfectly fine—if the atmosphere matched the price tag. Sadly, the “service” operates on the taxi model: once you’ve paid, the ride is over, and so is their interest in you. If your idea of nightlife in Perak involves overpaying for under-delivering, this might just be your dream spot. For everyone else, there are far better doors to walk through.

Went on a wednesday night Place relatively empty, Filipino live band playing with nice song choices Sat in the back (wanted a quieter environment). Relaxing and well-ventilated with lotsa greens in a garden like environment Soju bomb tower is pretty good Free cocktails for ladies on Wednesdays

Organized a farewell party here, the manager provide fast quote and offer for a private room for the event. The buffet served was delicious with reasonable prices, the beers are nice, as well everyone is enjoy the atmosphere and good service throughout the event. Highly recommended for those who want to organize a small event.

Food is very nice. It goes very well with the drinks but I found it a bit too salty for my liking. Feels like they deliberately make it salty so we drink more. Price of the food is reasonable. Been to many places and their tower is filled 80%. Not sure am I spoiled by other establishments or the tower here is generally filled only 60% after the bubbles was gone. Perhaps they delivered it too late to us that why it look less? The photo of the tower was right after it was delivered to us before we drank any cup from it. Was truly dissapointed by this. Service is like ok. It is quite good compare to few pubs I been to in Ipoh but not the best. Been here before MCO and was impressed by the quality of food and drinks. But now it feels different. And most importantly the seating arrangements are terrible. The establishment isn't filled when we arrive. We are here to enjoy the live band but the seating need to be improved. The seating doesn't care about the audience. Few of us were seated back facing liveband and those facing the live band is partially blocked by the pillar. The sound system need to be improve as well. The singer voice is good but the sound system spoils it. Please improve on this.
Brian C — Google review
The atmosphere is quite good near the stage area. Only the counter and the back and also upstairs are quite messy as this cafe isn't catching many patrons as expected. The entertainment area is also quite ok with a pool table(a bit worn) and electronic dart game. Food is all above average except ramen. The beers are a bit expensive for RM88 per bucket of small bottles of Carlsberg and the waitress only served the 1st pour. Live band a bit disappointed with the singer having pitching and also instrumental problem. Overall is still quite a good cafe but just need to brush up and do more improvements to gain back frequent patrons.
David C — Google review
A good place to hang out with friends or even with your family members. Not so quiet and not too noisy. Live music/song available after 8.30am, but I am not sure if available daily. The food was good and delicious, but on the higher side.
Raymond L — Google review
A cool pub to chill out, have a cold beer, and eat some hearty pub food. I had a Euro pork burger for RM28. Bottled beers are RM22 to RM23 each. We loved the spicy popcorn chicken for RM15. Large serving, and it's popcorn chicken but (a bit) spicy. Not the usual popcorn chicken. At the entrance, a lady was making satay over a charcoal grill. Some patrons ordered the satay. It was a hilarious sight. If you want peace and quiet (like us), go before the live band starts at 8.30pm. Top marks for the elaborate Christmas decor! Well done!

I always come here whenever I visit Hatyai. Still taste as good.

Average. Food portion is huge. The german sausage does not taste right. There s life band performance but I won'r go back for the second time.

Indeed a great place to chill. Good food reasonable pricing. The live band was fantastic, very entertaining and very good. Will definately return whenever around the area. If only they have it on FB live for the very good performance.

Cocktail bar
Nestled in New Town, Atas Speakeasy is a 1920s-style bar accessible through a black steel door and red lamplit stairs next to Konda Kondi Cafe. The interior exudes a 1970s home vibe with tropical wallpaper and vintage decor. It's popular among the city's college crowd who come dressed in colorful Hawaiian shirts and baggy pants.
Lucius was waiting by the door to lead us up to this speakeasy tended by a friendly, entertaining head bartender named Harish and he made us some of the best, creative drinks I ever had (Kugo Ginjo that is)! Atas Speakeasy comes highly recommended and defo returning for another tipple next time I’m in town - keep an eye out for Lucius, he knows the best spots 😋
Nicky C — Google review
This place has no signboard, and the door was locked when we've arrived. So we called the speakeasy and they opened the door automatically. I would advise you to call and book and then call for them to give you entry. The staircase going up was in such reddish dimmed lighting, giving a hue of secrecy and mystery. Once you reach upstairs, the bar is on the right end, and it has chairs around the U-shaped bar. They were, I think, 3 large areas of sofa and chairs for larger group. I think they have 2 tables of 2 people. The cocktails menu was with an extensive list. Interesting choices. Note : kids friendly and no smoking
Kathleen L — Google review
Came on a Thursday night no booking. Ducked in while someone was walking out. Well decorated space, forget that you’re in Ipoh! Drinks are pretty delicious and free nibbles to snack on. There’s games to play which is awesome. Only downside is the speed of service. Seems to be only 1 bartender and not a super busy night but we would wait almost 25min for 3-4 drinks. Otherwise staff super friendly and a small cool space for post dinner drinks!
Aaron L — Google review
Thought place to find … but when you do, it’s worth it. Came here on a weekend for early drinks, and it was quite the experience. Cannot remember what the heck we ordered, but it was all awesome. The vibe in here was great, loved the art on the walls and the lighting. Really friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Melissa E — Google review
Two nights running there are two bags of ice sitting outside the brown door. The first night at about 8pm, I just presume that ATAS must be closed because the website says a 7.30pm opening time. The next night at about 8.20pm, I phone, and am told the bar will open at 8.30pm. Five minutes later a woman arrives, unlocks and disappears inside telling me she needs a few minutes to set up. At 8.30pm I follow another arriving staff member up the stairs into and through two cosy and nicely decorated rooms to a horseshoe bar area in front of two large stained windows. There are numerous liquor bottles spread out beneath the two windows. The mixologist and owner is bright and effervescent (plus very cute) as she creates my first drink all the while engaging in conversation, telling me about her bar and business. Her manner is very easy going and hospitable. So much so, that my planned one drink ends up becoming two! Both drinks are well executed and of good measure. I’m the only customer as her white cat prowls the space which will soon have other customers who have made later reservations. Just before 10pm, I depart back down the stairs after a completely unexpected find in Ipoh. Well worth visiting.
Mark S — Google review
Shame it was so quiet, but the cocktails were fab and the playlist was the best! Ring to get access when you get to the door.
Keith S — Google review
This is an excellent place to hang out. Their cocktails are just simply unique, where you cant get it elsewhere. All four cocktails that we ordered tasted awesome. Their creation is amazing, and it pleased our tastebuds. The deco, music played, complemented the drinks very well. The also serve freeflow of snacks"malaysian style-kacang putih/muruku)" to go along your drinks. Their waitress was friendly, helpful, the bartender came up personally to explain about their drinks. Their hospitality was amicable. They even served us some satay(grilled chicken/lamb skewers), complimentary. An extra effort by the team. Bravo guys, you earned a five star, from us. As this place is located on the 2nd floor, it can be easy to lose ways. It is a hidden bar actually. So with google image, you will roughly know which building to look for. Dont miss this place, ever.
Chandra M — Google review
A speakeasy that requires reservation and do not take in walk-ins. We had to call on arrival to get a table. It’s a pretty decent bar with modern pop hit songs playing in the background. Kudos to the blonde waiter who was extremely friendly and beet helpful with the drink recommendation. The drinks are good. Apparently they do a monthly cocktail and food pairing too.

Healy Mac's Irish Bar & Restaurant in Ipoh offers a unique experience with its authentic Irish atmosphere and delicious food. The pub is known for its live performances and relaxing ambiance, making it a must-visit spot. Guests can enjoy a refreshing glass of Kilkenny beer paired with hearty dishes like Roasted Pork Knuckle, served with hand-cut potato wedges, coleslaw, and dipping sauce.

Burger was ok, ribeye steak too, shepherds pie isn't really a shepherds pie since there shouldn't be any red sauce in it. Dessert was horribly meh. Service was bad, didnt actually ordered rib eye, costed us twice the amount than what we ordered. Do not recommend.

The Deck Gastrobar is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to elevate their dining experience in Ipoh. Nestled atop the WEIL Hotel, this rooftop bar offers an exquisite blend of Eastern and Western flavors that tantalize the taste buds. Guests can indulge in a diverse selection of fusion bites and unique drinks, including an impressive collection of exotic gins and refreshing beers.
The Deck Gastrobar is a little hidden gem in Ipoh! We were looking for a way to cool down from the extremely hot day so looked up swimming pools in Ipoh. Most of them weren’t open to the public but we found that The Deck had a rooftop pool so we went there. It was delightful! The staff were super friendly and helpful, the views from the roof were stunning, the pool was refreshing, towels were free, and they serve draught Guinness!!! The only downside was that they opened at 4pm, wish they opened earlier!

located at the roof top of Weil hotel with unobstructed view of ipoh panorama view, great place for a drink and dinner. I tried the carbonara, nice and creamy cooked exactly how i want it
George Q — Google review
Taste of food is about average. Drinks could be a bit pricy. The menu choices during my visit was quite restricted. The ambiance is comfortable especially in the evening. The sunset view of Ipoh city which can be observed from the rooftop poolside is quite spectacular. SOP is observed. Recommended.
Bernard L — Google review
Guests at The Deck can look forward to dine-in indoors which provides a fun and stylish vibe, or the outdoor (at The Lawn or Pool deck area) which offers a more natural and intriguing dining experience. It also boasts a chic environment with a splendid day and night view of Ipoh. Prices of the menu selections here is relatively above average than general Ipoh eateries. Decor, ambience and environment completed the menu offerings.
Life N — Google review
Best Ipoh sky bar view, which is hard to find in Ipoh. The interior also looks good. But sadly the service here is really below average, long waiting time, wet seats after a rainfall and the staffs are not well trained to serve in a bar. I would rather blame the management. Hope Weil Hotel will do something to improve the service here. Instagram: theroytravels

We ordered mixed grill for 5pax, (big set) we are very disappointed with the food ,the portion is very small ,and it taste so so bad (overcooked). Can't believe portion of 5pax serves in 1pax portion. We asked whether the food was for 5 person, and he said yes. it cost rm 144 , it isn't worth buying it.

Cocktail bar
Nestled within a charming vintage building in the heart of Ipoh's Old Town, Tiga Bar is a delightful hidden gem that perfectly blends rustic industrial chic with old-world charm. This vibrant bar, founded by local Sunny in 2019, offers an impressive selection of handcrafted cocktails that are both innovative and experimental. With a friendly and lively atmosphere, Tiga Bar ensures you’ll be surrounded by good vibes until the early hours.
Delicious cocktails in a speakeasy setting. We ordered 6 drinks and they were all great. The standouts for me were ‘burst of kisses’ and ‘love is all the matter of timing’ because of the hot and cold sensations. Really creative use of local flavours and ingredients! Thank you bartenders for the amazing experience.
Racx I — Google review
Check out their new place! Good to see ipoh has a decent speakeasy now but price is no difference to the concrete jungle. I could only use one drink and it is literally only a few sips, a stopover and definitely not here to stay for couple of drinks.

Everything one wants in a hidden bar - excellent cocktails that taste amazing, friendly bartenders, and a very chill, comfy and hidden environment. Perfect for introverts. :'3
Yuura N — Google review
A delightful find on my first evening in Ipoh. The entrance is actually in the back. Just walk along the side lane and then left until you come across the back door. Aside from the usual cocktails, their mixologist have concocted some new and imaginative drinks using local ingredients (some used by my grandparents 😆). They are unique and taste wonderful. A creative way to put these ingredients to new and innovative use. Best of all, while you sample their cocktails and make small talk with their team behind the bar, you realise they also put on some old movies and project them for the guests to enjoy. Cocktails and movie night = enjoyable combo UPDATE-they have since moved twice, and my latest photos are in their latest location.

The spacious bar offers pool tables, flat screens for sports viewing, electronic dartboards, and live singing performances. Happy hour specials are available from 4pm to 10pm, featuring drink deals. This venue is favored by many for its friendly staff, comfortable dining spaces, and delicious Western cuisine. It's recommended to visit around 7pm to avoid weekend crowds.

Good food and good portion size, chill atmosphere. Didn't like the fact the rooftop is only open on specific days. If the rooftop area is only opened on specific days why even name your restaurant "Rooftop Restaurant and Bar" Besides that prices were as expected for a place like this but portions are good at least. I'd go again to try their other burgers and pasta for sure.

Kiki Lalat is a cozy bar located in a quieter part of old town in Ipoh. The ambiance is enhanced by the illumination from old street lamps, creating a tranquil atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their drinks. The bar offers a recalibrated version of toddy, a unique drink introduced to Malaya by Indian laborers. It's known for its affordable pricing, making it friendly for beginners and students.
Was told that this was the bar to go to when in Ipoh and since we were nearby we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is pretty cool with the retro interior and sort of makeshift bar area. Somehow everything just works well together. See them setting up plenty of seats along the road side as well expecting a large crowd maybe. The toddy is super tasty! Highly recommended!

Kiki Lalat is an absolute gem in Ipoh! The drinks here are incredibly unique and flavorful—whether it’s their craft beers or special local brews, everything is worth trying. The atmosphere is amazing, with a nostalgic charm, rattan chairs, antique decor, and even a vintage printing press that adds to the experience. The playlist of 80s hits creates a fun and lively vibe. But what truly sets this place apart is the staff—they are super friendly, welcoming, and make you feel right at home. If you’re in Ipoh and looking for a place with great drinks, a fantastic ambiance, and top-notch service, Kiki Lalat is a must-visit!

An excellent bar with a cool vibe. Good beers on tap and a good range of craft beers in the fridge. They have a lot of live music on the weekends and their homemade beer and cocktail are cheap.
Paul A — Google review
Ipoh has definitely changed alot! Surely thinks that this place is for the tourist and not so much of local present here. Perhaps youngsters on the weekend. Serves local special brew and own unique craft beer. Yet to try all but loving this Yuzu - Never go wrong series! Chilling with camping chair with live band, at the roadside. Not something usual in Ipoh but we had amazing time here.

What a gem! The vibe is effortlessly cool, with a quirky charm that makes you want to sit back and just soak it all in. The drinks were on point and the service came with warm smiles that made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to whenever I’m in Ipoh.

A hidden gem, chill place to drink, relax, and enjoy live band. Highly recommend to try their specialty crafted beer, although they also have other beer and alcohol available. We tried their TODI (house specialty), Soju Mojoto, and Black Mafia, all have their unique taste and the price is affordable for me consider it's crafted beer. Atmosphere wise, the place is dark with little to no lights, chill as you can just order a drink and relax for the night, and can also become lively with more crowd thr longer the night. No food serve from what I saw, but might be wrong. For live band they started around 9pm during our visit. Parking is ample around the area as nearby shops are mostly closed, but suggest to avoid coming during raining as their indoor dining area is small. No picture as the area is too dark to take one.

Nestled in a corner shop lot in the vibrant new town, Tin Corner 39 is a delightful destination for both beer enthusiasts and families. Spanning two floors, this bar and bistro offers an impressive selection of local and imported beers at wallet-friendly prices. Guests can enjoy the unique experience of self-service from seven full-size chillers stocked with popular brands like Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Heineken, and more.
Excellent choice of beers, great decor and atmosphere, friendly service, ordering is by QR code and online, but would be good to have the ability to see the whole bill and the total, prior to paying at the counter.

Great little spot to have a beer and some snacks and watch the world go by. They have a really decent selection of beers and they make a mean margarita. Loved the fried chicken, it comes in a bunch of different flavors, and the views from the second floor are awesome. Worth a visit!

Very loud place. No music when we went but most turn off thing was that the aircond wasn’t on or either it was not cold upstairs so our session wasn’t very enjoyable. Typical expensive bar price.

I rarely if ever put in a negative review for anyone. But I am not from Malaysia, as soon as I walked in with my son, the bartender mentions that on guiness and Heineken they have buy 1 and get 1 free (or this is what I understood) I honestly didn't even want a second beer, but you know how it is, You can't leave a free beer. So not only did I ask for it but also got my son a root beer. Which to be honest he hated. But when I went up to pay the bill, it seemed a lot higher than I was expecting. First they don't give you a bill, just ask you to pay an amount, when I asked to see he pointed at a computer screen. Of course I was billed for 2 beers, when I asked the bartender he said he meant Buy 1 set(of 6 beers) and get 1 free. Let me put this in context, I have walked in with my 11 year old son. He thinks I am going to have 7 beers on a weekday night. So my son can carry me home and tuck me in. And even though I am Indian and clearly not from here, he assumes I know what 1 set means. I am not sure if even locals know what that means. All in all I spent probably 40-50 MYR and about half hour in a place I didn't want to be, because hey free beer. Now call me naive but I think even if the bartender was well intentioned, their complete lack of visibly printed offers, Their proactive verbal offers, the lack of a printed bill that can easily be checked at the end of a night of drinking all of it reeks of something I would advice people to stay away from Even now I hesitate to post this negative review, because otherwise it's a good place. But they need to up their transparency and someone has to publicly call them out on it

Located in Ipoh, Jeff's Cellar at The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat is a unique dining experience set within a 260 million-year-old natural limestone cave. This extraordinary setting offers an intimate and romantic ambiance, making it an ideal place for special occasions like proposals. The cellar boasts an extensive selection of high-quality wines and champagnes, perfect for celebrating with a glass of the couple's favorite vintage or bubbly.
Great food, great place and good service. Fine dining in a cave this was sure a rare experience. A great idea to have the restaurant in the cave. All dishes was well executed and it's worth my money. However for the fine dining setting, personally I think the staff need more training. I gave 100% for the effort of the serving staff but not quite 5 star for me.

That sourdough from their 5 year old mother dough? Honestly, I could’ve just eaten that all night — crispy, fluffy, so addictive, and yes, they refill it (dangerous but glorious). The wagyu was melt in your mouth good, with mushrooms that almost stole the show. Amuse bouche felt like little edible surprises, one after another. The only “hmm…” moment was the tofu gelato, let’s just say it’s an acquired taste I haven’t acquired yet. Other than that, everything was a solid win!

Best meal I ever had. Truly delectable dishes every bite was simple so delicious. Even a simple sourdough bread was so good. Portions was good considering it is in a fine dining setting. My compliments to the chef. Service went above and beyond, special fallout to our trainee server Yohn even gave us a tour after dinner of the beautiful place and took photos for us!
Carmella S — Google review
Celebrating my 24th wedding anniversary there and comment as Food = not so sure as not very used to having fine dining else where but the food was nice and interesting. The main chef did also personally approach us towards the end to ask for our opinion about the food which shown they're really care about customers feedback. Environment = dine inside the cave with a nice and beautiful decorated and lighting every conner makes it really a rare experience. Service = I was mainly served by one Chinese young guy on internship ( can't remember his name) and he is really friendly and doing a very good job. The rest of the staffs was also great too. Verdict = the jeff cellar only served dinner set (min rm625 nett /pax and the prices is not considered cheap but with the top notch services by the team and accompanied by the very rare and beautiful dining surroundings which cant find it elsewhere, it is worth yr every penny. Btw, my wife loves and enjoyed it so much that evening. Tq so much to all the team members at JEFF'S CELLAR.

We had a splendid time at Jeff’s Cellar! When we came we were greeted by Grace who gave us excellent service explaining to us all the details of the restaurant and cave. She also offered to take many photos of us, which was great as we are now left with so many nice ones, as we normally forget to take ourselves when we go out. We were first seated next to the bar and received a welcome drink alcoholic or non-alcoholic depending on our preference. We were then shown the rest of the cave and taken to our table. We selected the seasonal menu costing 725 rm each, and also added one wine paring which cost 398 rm. We danced through the courses enjoying every one with excellent service from both Hossain and Jo, and a third server who we unfortunately forgot the name of. All three were so nice and informative and gave us the best experience! The food was of course amazing and my favourite dish was the squab (Pideon) which was excellently cooked and spiced, I loved the nice crispy texture of the skin, and my partner really loved the tuna belly in the Amuse-Bouche. I also really liked the flavour of the fish in the Duo of Sole and the amazing sauce that came with this dish. The cave setting is truly unique, and with unseeable airconditioning that kept the air nice and fresh and perfectly tempered the entire cave. (Which is something I know is very difficult to achieve in caves as the air most often becomes clammy and has a closed in feel) The music the lighting and beautiful decor really created the most perfect and classy atmosphere. Thank you so much for having us, and to the entire team for giving us such an amazing experience! We will definitely come back!

One of the best dining experience in a beautiful limestone cave. I could stare at it forever. Food was amazingly executed. The Wagyu beef was beautifully executed. Compliments to the chef. Staff was friendly and attentive.

The main draw to Jeff's Cellar is the unique experience of fine dining in a limestone cave. The set up is beautiful. We got the Prestige tasting menu which is the basic one for about RM600 per person without any wine pairing. Food was delicious. But I feel for the service could really have been fine tuned..it was a busy weekend night and the number of staffing couldnt quite keep up. Also the noise levels and music were quite loud. There were people with flip flops and baseball hats...all these things just added up and sort of ruined the fine dining experience.
Neehad B — Google review
Jeff’s Cellar is such a beautiful and romantic place for fine dining. The cave setting is stunning and the food was excellent. We had a small hiccup with a bottle of Chardonnay, as it was not the taste we expected. The situation took some time to resolve, but in the end the staff handled it well and even gave us complimentary champagne, which we really appreciated. Overall, the atmosphere, food, and service made it a very special evening. A must-visit in Ipoh!

First time visiting Ipoh bar at this street and this is my first bar chosen on a very non busy Sunday night. Very less crowded and maybe is different on a busy Friday or Saturday. 5 star to the PR Kiki as she still entertaining mostly all the tables no matter what. The 3 local malaysian chinese singers is nice ☺️ young and pretty too. Atleast I still found really local bar at Ipoh without foreigners PR etc like KL. Will visit again when visiting Ipoh. Hope it will keep up. Anyway the bucket tiger cost RM90 and there are option of single mug/botol if I not mistaken from the PR.

Nice atmosphere & beer price for me is ok around rm93 per bucket & draft 5 pints rm100. Ki Ki was a nice girl & does give good service as well. Its best to walk there due to parking has many freelancers. If your a chinese its betta for you to come here as i heard. So far is ok and does not have rowdy crowds. There are also resident singers & loud music too. If you only want a mug best go other pubs. Do visit if your at ipoh..cheers.

She Said | Hidden Lounge is a unique and hidden gem located in Ipoh. The lounge is situated on the top floor of a hot pot restaurant, accessible by a flight of stairs at the back. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with friendly staff who are eager to explain and recommend items from their menu. The cozy atmosphere is enhanced by the pink lanterns that adorn the space.
Drinks are decent. There's enough variety for different preference. The bar tenders are also partners of the establishment. They are friendly, Despite busy hours, they still try to entertain when I talked to them. Plus, single girls... One of the boss/bar tender here is quite handsome and nice... So yeah... You may wanna consider.
Andy Y — Google review
Please note that the actual She Said speakeasy has shut down and is no longer at the address mentioned on Google Maps. Instead, search for Red Inn Hotpot Ipoh (Old Town). Also, this is no longer a speakeasy. In fact, they don't even have much alcohol options. It took us a while to figure this place out and when we did, we were disappointed to know it is no longer a speakeasy. The Red Inn Hotpot has a small bar area near the entrance and we wanted to finish our night with some more drinks and decided to sit here. We were told that the owner no longer wants to focus on the speakeasy due to funding issues. The only option was to have sake - so we ordered sake. Turns out - they had to open a fresh bottle and we must at least pay for half the bottle. End result - we gulped down a LOT of sake. Anyways, the ambience is nice with some decent music. We tried some food to help us down the liquor and ordered prawn fritters, which was good.

I have read about this place and my interest was piqued immediately. Went hunting for it one evening (on my last evening in Ipoh) and found it atop a hot pot restaurant. Just walk past the patrons dining downstairs and head towards a flight of stairs at the back. As you emerge from the staircase, you will see the top floor is decorated with pink lanterns. You will immediately be greeted with friendly staff who will gladly explain and recommend items on their menu to you. There is a small stage for performances later in the night but I didn't stay since I had dinner appointment elsewhere. The drinks were good and wasn't pricy at all. Definitely worth trip when I am back to Ipoh next time.

A hidden bar with an oriental theme, located upastairs of a hotpot shop. Cozy and chill place, well air-conditioned, spacious. The bartender was very friendly, we opt for non-alcoholic drinks and he even asked our preference taste for the customized mocktails. Most important thing is their drinks are so good, very flavorful and special. The price is around RM45 for 2 mocktails. The other alcoholic drinks price started from around RM30 per drink. Personally think that it’s acceptable price to be able to enjoy such nice drinks in a comfortable environment with your friends. Highly recommend this place for a chitchat after dinner or catchup with friends.

Ipoh Railway Station, also known as KTMB Ipoh Railway Station, is a century-old gem and a tourist hotspot for photography. It's a historical gem that's worth visiting in Ipoh. The station offers an opportunity to explore the British colonial gems beyond the food scene and is a must-visit for those interested in history and architecture. With its vintage charm, it provides an insight into the city's rich heritage and serves as a great spot for capturing timeless photographs.
What treat - I could spend days in that building. Ok there is luggage storage for large and small bags. Bring 5 and 10 MYR cash if you want to use the luggage storage. There is a nice walking tour you can do staring from the train station. Pic included.
Konain S — Google review
Overall still can acceptable , better check in system before you come here. All ticket can buy in advance in apps. Staff friendly and helpful . Only building still under renovation , leakage problem not yet solve it .
Evon C — Google review
Located in the middle of the town. Recommended to take a ride there since apparently it's not very pedestrian friendly. And it's hot. There's a specified spot for e-hailing, so don't get confused. Parkings are limited. Building is old and maintenance is definitely minimal despite it being a historical structure. Some vendors are setting up shop in and outside the train station. There used to be a hotel way back when, but don't know if it was operational in modern time. Prayer rooms are inside the waiting room, past the haunted looking stairs. Counter opens from 04:00 a.m. - 09:00 p.m. Waiting room is not very big, but at least there's fans blowing. Seats are plenty, though they're not for resting. People arriving from Kuala Lumpur and trying to exit the station is… crowded and hilarious. There's only 4 gates and tourists generally don't know how to queue or use the gate. Entering the gate on the other hand is quite peaceful since the train has not arrived yet. Restrooms are… surprisingly modern, though definitely need more maintenance. Was told that the woman's restroom had a leek. Place could definitely be haunted with the worn town paint and mold.
Herbert F — Google review
I recently stopped by Ipoh Railway Station during a trip through Perak, and it’s easily the busiest train hub north of Kuala Lumpur, serving as a key stop on the ETS line connecting to Penang and beyond. Built in 1917, this grand structure boasts stunning British colonial architecture with Moorish influences—think white domes, arches, and intricate facades that earned it the nickname “Taj Mahal of Ipoh.” It’s a fantastic spot for photos, especially the exterior against the manicured gardens and the iconic “IPOH” compass on the ground. Though it feels small by modern standards, it’s well-equipped to handle passengers given the relatively low train frequency. Facilities include clean toilets, a small cafe for quick bites and drinks, a convenience store, manual ticket counters, and self-service vending machines for easy purchases. There are also small elevators to access the platforms, making it accessible despite the historic design. The station is clean and organized, with lockers available for storage. Overall, it’s a charming blend of history and functionality, perfect for travelers or history buffs. No frills, but efficient and photogenic—highly recommend snapping some shots while waiting for your train. 4 stars for its heritage appeal and practicality.

Government needs to upgrade the facilites. It was hot, leaking everywhere and the stalls oh god. Do not buy anything from the ice cream shop here, unless you want to be treated like trash by the owner. She treats as if we are begging her for money when we are the ones buying from her. Super rude. Do not recommend at all

Beautiful railway station with colonial charm. We took the train to go to KL from Ipoh which is nice and comfortable.
Sanford L — Google review
The main and only railway station in Ipoh. It has many years of history. Has been refurbished from those days where trains run without ac. Now it's very convenient to go everywhere from here. Up north to Butterworth or down south to Johor. Kudos to KTMB for providing the train services for all. We can have an option not to drive or take bus which is never punctual depending on traffic on the road. Only thing is, there is charges for using the toilet at this station. I wonder why? KL Sentral doesn't charge commuters for this. Maybe they should provide more food option for commuters too. Now just some stall selling snack.
Jac Y — Google review
This review is just about the luggage storage at the station :) there is luggage storage for big suitcases! But you need to bring 5 and 10 ringgit notes! No one in the station will give you change for bigger notes that I could find :( please be aware. When you enter the station , you can find luggage storage on the left side of the building by prayer rooms. 3-4 lockers were free each time we went in midweek 24 October. There are four very large lockers that will fit a big suitcase and some smaller lockers too. Each one costs 10rmb which you convert into tokens. You can only open them once.

Head upstairs to discover an entertaining space filled with dart boards and arcade games—perfect for those looking to unwind with friends while enjoying some friendly competition.
It's way too loud downstairs especially when the live band is playing. We went upstairs and it was amazing. There was an unlimited arcade game machine, dart consoles, karaoke and all to ourselves!

Mansion Bistro & Bar Sdn Bhd is a must-visit destination in Ipoh, where culinary delights meet a vibrant social scene. Nestled within a charming pre-war building, this bar offers an enticing menu featuring fusion-style dishes that blend Western and Japanese flavors, alongside grilled fish options. It's the perfect spot for those looking to unwind with friends or enjoy a romantic evening, thanks to its inviting ambiance.
One of my regular spots for some beer 🍻 and hang out blow blow water 🌬 💦. Offer some good Happy Hour ⏳ promotions too. Yup... Parking 🅿 sucks over there, well every night spot will sure have this problem. Who cares. You need to pay some $$ 💵 to the Ah So there if you wanted to park in front. If not just part at Belakang Lorong at your own risk ⚠️ After some drinking session you can change spot too, with History, Bricks & Barrel, St Patrick and Viking. Oh ya.. After some heavy drinking be sure to have something to eat at the 'Lok-Lok' Van 🍡🍡🍡 just in front.

Perak Cave Temple, also known as Perak Tong, is a stunning Buddhist temple situated on a picturesque hill in Malaysia. Founded in 1926 by Chinese Buddhist immigrants, the temple boasts intricate murals, grand altars, and a towering golden Buddha statue. Visitors can climb over 400 steps to reach the hilltop and enjoy breathtaking views. The cave system within the temple offers an intriguing exploration experience for travelers.
A must visit place while you in Ipoh. Prepare your self to get on top. Climb a very steep stairs. Bring your own waters, there is no water supply on top. The climbing gate open from 8 am- 4 pm. Free entry. This is a Buddhist temple, but it was opened for public. Just respect for their culture.
David P — Google review
It was easy to get there using the grab from the city. It costs around 15RM. The temple was located in the countryside so there was nothing near there. You can enjoy the temple in the cave without a fee. You can also enjoy the view of the top and can see the whole Ipoh city but it was not huge than I expected. If you visit Ipoh, you have to visit here to enjoy the cave temple and many monkeys.

Perak Cave Temple is a beautiful and peaceful place, perfect for a quiet and healing visit. The cave itself is impressive, with stunning limestone formations and intricate Buddhist statues and murals. The atmosphere is calm and spiritual, making it a great spot to reflect and relax. You can also climb up to the viewpoint for a lovely panoramic view of Ipoh—definitely worth the effort. The temple may not be very modern, but its charm lies in its natural beauty and serene energy. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful and tranquil experience.

I would say this is one of the best Buddhist temples in Ipoh. The moment you enter, you can feel a peaceful atmosphere and very positive vibrations. It’s a wonderful place to calm your mind, pray, and relax from the busy city life. The temple also has many beautiful statues, each with its own unique design and meaning. The surroundings are clean and well-maintained, making it a comfortable place to walk around and take in the spiritual environment. Overall, it’s a meaningful and serene place to visit, whether you’re seeking peace, blessings, or simply a quiet moment.
PRISHAWINI S — Google review
Impressive cave temple with multiple galleries and levels. A set of very steep and narrow stairs leads to the top of the cliffs with rewarding views across Ipoh. This climb is not for the faint hearted. Suggest not to attempt this walk during the midday heat. Take water.
Bread B — Google review
Perak Cave Temple is a fascinating blend of nature and spirituality, with an incredible temple built right into the cliff face. Inside, the cave opens into a warren of shrines, statues, and murals that stretch deep into the rock, creating a truly atmospheric experience. The energetic hike up the well-maintained steps to the top was equally impressive, offering sweeping views of Ipoh and the surrounding limestone hills. However, visitors should be cautious at the summit as the monkeys can be cheeky and bold, especially if you’re carrying food. Overall, it’s a memorable and rewarding visit that balances cultural heritage with natural beauty.
John M — Google review
A must see in Ipoh. The temple paintings were beautiful and the walk through the cave and up to the top was incredible. Popping! Entry was free and they served free tea on the ground floor which was nice. There's not much information about the temple inside so do a quick read before you come.
H D — Google review
This is a fascinating place to visit. The temple nestled within the cave is truly breathtaking. While you can climb up to the hilltop, it’s quite a tedious task, and the view isn’t particularly worth the effort. However, it’s a pleasant spot to take a break and relax.

Kafe Yoon Wah is a popular spot in Ipoh known for its specialty snow beer, a unique drink with foam that crystallizes when poured into frozen mugs. This open-air cafe at the junction of Jalan Bijeh Timah and Concubine Lane offers a wide variety of reasonably priced dishes, including recommended options like chicken wings and octopus.

If i can give no star i would do that! Dont ever come, over priced. Seafood is not fresh……. And all the food is salty like the dead sea….. Sodium more than food… seafood overcooked hard like stone….. Stone taste even better…. When we came in we saw a rat just ran in front of us. Final warning don’t come. That’s it…. Food too salty can’t even finish it all….

I spent a lot of my teenage nights in this place. You will find the steam squid & stew noodles here. The taste is paired well with your drink & you can spend the whole night here.
JiunHorng C — Google review
A great spot for drinks and gathering with a good range of beers. That said, the food fell a bit flat—lacking in flavor, and the noodles were stir-fried with prawn instead of traditional pork lard. Parking is also challenging, and prices are on the higher side. Good for the vibe, but may not satisfy if you're coming for the food alone.
00Y — Google review
Acceptable taste. Reached 5+ less crowd and had peaceful quiet meal Rm180 as picture. All foreigner workers cant understand well and waited quite a while to take order . Was very hungry.
Kellie K — Google review
In this restaurant, which consists of two restaurants ("Kafe Yoon Wah" and "Kafe Sun Yoon Wah"), several transactions are apparently carried out per table and guest. The waiters who take drink orders then go to an elderly lady and pay there. They then go into the restaurant, get the drinks and serve them. The guest must then pay for them immediately in cash to the waiter. It is not understandable why the guest has to pay a surcharge here. The waiters are not friendly and unfortunately you feel very ripped off. The cutlery was cheap and all the forks were bent. Napkins/ tissues cost extra, which is absurd for finger food. The served noodles with pork had two pieces of meat and the remaining pieces were bones with no meat at all. Absolutely unacceptable.
Hendrik P — Google review
The beer is still cold & nice but the food tasted different from a year ago when I last visited. All the usual dishes that we ordered are below average & not tasty at all, really bad compare to last year. We can't even finish half the food, all go to waste!

Berlin's Bier Houz is a German-European bistro with a branch in Penang, offering authentic and luxurious gourmet cuisines. It is known for its imported draught beers, wines, cocktails, and mocktails. The menu features German pork knuckle as a signature dish along with other options like German roast pork, pan-seared barramundi, and pork burger with cheese. The cozy wooden seating arrangement adds to the ambiance reminiscent of Germany.
The surrounding & decor is REALLY GOOD! A real reminder of my trip to Koln, Dusseldorf & Berlin, Germany! The food here is above average. I shared the pork knuckle and had the burger. Burger was really fantastic, juicy beef party and a generous portion of fries! Knuckle was great, just short of some mash (or some carbs) to balance the proteins... it came with sauerkraut! Staff were very friendly & helpful! Would LOVE TO COME FOR A BEER NEXT TIME!!

I had a satisfied dining experience in this restaurant. The service was excellent. The staffs greeted us and be polite we us. They also enthusiasticly introduce us their famous food. I had ordered a black tonkotsu ramen, korokke, fried ice cream and some yakitori. The food was tasty and delicious. The ramen soup base is made from pork bone and soy sauce. The fried ice cream won't be too sweet or greasy. While the ambience is comfortable and pretty. The interior was very Japanese style and create a cosy atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant to ramen lover. It can give you an unforgettable experience.I had a satisfied dining experience in this restaurant.

Came again for dinner after a while as it was easier to find a parking space. White tonkotsu ramen was nice as usual. Grilled eggplant not bad either. However, the pork belly skewers today are too salty. The beef and bacon with enoki mushroom were nice though.
YC K — Google review
It was a quiet Saturday evening in the restaurant when I walked in at 6pm. Being the only customer there, I had the whole restaurant for myself and relish getting served first. The white tonkotsu arrived within a reasonable waiting time. The bowl has a perfectly cooked ramen in a thick, flavoursome white broth topped with a slightly sweet-tasting chashu, soft-boiled egg, crunchy wood ear mushroom, chopped green onions and a sprinkling of sesame seeds. The taste? Wonderful. I saved a little of the ramen and broth to mix with Nanami Togarashi (assorted chilli pepper), making it spicy. I got a whole new taste which was even more delicious. The yakitori of enoki mushroom wrapped with bacon was better than I imagined. As I munch on the crunchy enoki, the savoury meat juices from the bacon oozes out with each bite. They are a great combination in texture and flavour. The hot honey yuzu that I had, ended the meal with a sweet and refreshing note. Would love to come back and try their other dishes.

Craving for tonkotsu soup ramen so I went here and try it but it was a bit disappointed cuz the broth not really taste good for me, not salty, not creamy or anything, just bubbly and weird, maybe it doesn't suit my taste. The gyoza are tasty tho. The ambient and decor are great, good vibes. The price are worth for the portion but not the taste of Ramen, Thank you.

History museum
Han Chin Pet Soo, located in Ipoh Old Town, is Malaysia's first Hakka tin mining museum. It was originally the gathering place for the Hakka Tin Miners Club and now offers a captivating journey into the history and culture of the region's tin mining industry. The museum showcases interactive exhibits, guided tours, artifacts, photos, and personal stories that provide insights into the lives of immigrant Hakka tin miners in the early 20th century.
I had a wonderful experience on this one-hour guided tour that explores the history of tin mining and the Hakka community’s significant role in shaping Malaysia’s tin industry. The tour covered not only the technical aspects of tin mining operations but also gave great insight into the early lifestyle of the people who lived and worked in the area. What made the experience even more special were the old artifacts on display—some of which I remember from my childhood. It really brought back nostalgic memories. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, presenting the history in a way that was both informative and enjoyable. The group size was small (limited to 10 people), which made it more personal and easier to follow along. There are only three sessions a day, all conducted in English, and registration is required online. The tour is free, though donations are welcome to support their ongoing efforts, which we did. I definitely learned a lot from this visit and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. It’s a meaningful and enriching experience, especially for anyone interested in local history
CS T — Google review
An hour of guided tour well spent - we learnt so much about the history of the building, the Chinese immigrants in general and the lifestyle back then. The tour was done in English, our guide was really knowledgeable. Advance booking via their website is advisable as the slots are limited, understably so as the tour cannot accommodate a large crowd at one go. Something different to do apart from the usual sightseeing, shopping and eating. Please make a donation at the end of tour to contribute to the preservation of this historical site. Also please come on time to avoid interruption to the tour.
Ng W — Google review
I would recommend every visitor to book their slot for a tour of this little mansion within the first two days of their time in Ipoh. We came here on the day we were leaving Ipoh, having already visited other museums and also the last tin dredge, and even as a local Hakka person reasonably familiar with my family history and culture, I still find the tour very engaging and enlightening. I cannot recommend this place enough and would like to thank Ipoh World for its great work conserving and promoting this place.
MinYen W — Google review
Amazing museum. The tour was so informative and interesting. Definitely recommend to anyone that are interested in Chinese immigrants culture and the tin industry history. You need to book in advance since the slots are limited. It’s free but I willingly donated after the tour and I believe everyone would do so.
Hedwig Y — Google review
Sixty minutes vanished rapidly, courtesy of our exceptional guide. Highly informative, well-organized details, and a beautifully maintained structure. It appears to be a tremendously popular destination, so we were fortunate to secure a few remaining bookings. Reservations are essential. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Rita M — Google review
The guide Mr Leong is very engaging and makes the subject matter very accessible. This was my third visit to a tin mining-themed museum and Han Chin Pet Soo was by far the best in terms of experience and curation. I brought along an American visitor who was suitably impressed as well. The experience of walking through what used to be an exclusive building and learning about how the tin towkays and every person’s role in the industry, down to the cook, was very meaningful and educational. Excellent use of space to make sure every inch served to host comprehensive and coherent displays. I cannot recommend this tour enough for first-time visitors, even for frequent Ipoh visitors looking to learn more about the city that tin built. Han Chin Pet Soo should be made part of school visits for secondary school students to learn what was once the greatest source of wealth for this nation. I greatly enjoyed my visit and would like to make another. I hope Ipoh World will create other projects based on Ipoh’s history.
Tracy T — Google review
My pre booked English language tour lasted one hour and was very interesting and educational and delivered with passion. You have to rebook on their website, free entry with optional donation.
Andrew L — Google review
Han Chin Pet Soo is a must-visit attraction in Ipoh, especially for those who love history, culture, and learning about the past. This museum focuses on the life of Hakka miners and the tin mining industry, which played a big role in shaping Ipoh's history. The collection of artifacts, old photographs, and well-preserved items gives you a glimpse of how people lived and worked during that time. The guided tour is very informative, and the guide explains everything clearly, making it easy to understand even for those who are not familiar with the topic. The building itself is a piece of history, beautifully restored and well-maintained, adding to the charm of the experience. Visiting Han Chin Pet Soo is like stepping back in time and learning about an important part of Malaysia’s heritage. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, this is a great place to explore and appreciate the rich history of Ipoh. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

Celebrated our friend’s birthday here and we enjoyed the day here . Place is not overly crowded on a Friday night but I would say the music is too loud as we all can’t really chat with our friends . They have live band here and love the couple who entertained us for the night . They have a great choice of music . The food here is really bad . Not tasty at all and very low standard. Just go there and grab the drink . Don’t expect to have good food here . But the staff here is very friendly and helpful . Service was good and price is reasonable . There are indoor and outdoor seatings here and place is clean and tidy . Very spacious . Parking is hard during the night on weekdays and weekends .

Speakeasy is a cozy and welcoming spot with a friendly staff. It's recommended to make a reservation and ask for assistance to open the door entrance. The bartender's recommendations are worth trying, as they serve nice drinks. It's an ideal place for couples looking for a quiet and comfortable atmosphere without loud music or people. Additionally, there is a happy hour deal of RM 75 per bucket. However, visitors should be aware that there might be parking fees nearby that could cause inconvenience.
If you park nearby, you will be asked to pay RM5 for “looking after” your car. For my car’s safety, I didn’t want to take the risk so I paid. However I hope someone can inform the authorities to take action. This is outrageous!

The staff is very rude. Service is poor. And the food is so bad. We ordered Lamb Chop and left it after taking first bite itself. It was so tasteless. This place is total disappointment.
Pranpreet K — Google review
Im very upset with the local owner. I asked nicely if I could watch in one of his many TVs the Manchester United game, which it was on Astro Supersport 2. He got all Tvs on ASTRO Supersport 3. No one else was watching the football due the local was pretty much quite at that moment. The guy just didn't want to be bothered with any petition (he was playing a sort of a table game with his friends in a table), so he told me through the waiter that they didn't have that channel, taking me as an idiot cause if you have ASTRO Supersport 3, you have also ASTRO Supersport 1 and 2. Just before i had ordered a pack of 5 beers to watch my team... My wife doesn't drink alcohol, and still I spent Rm120 including 20% tip. And that's the treatment I received back. Again, the place was almost empty. I just don't recommend anyone to come here. Don't get me wrong, the staff was nice to me, the bartender was so polite, they just follow commands from an incompetent. My mistake for not check before the previous ratings.

Great service from Ashley. It’s not your expected speakeasy place but a loud and heavy smoking joint. Live singing is good but the music played during the break was horrible. Sounds like the DJ is trying to pop your eardrums!

Located in the heart of Ipoh Old Town, Sinhalese Bar has been a Malaysian staple for 91 years. Stepping through its saloon-like doors, visitors are transported to a bygone era where colorful characters and lively conversations abound. Established in 1931 by GM Perera from Sri Lanka and his Thai wife, this historic bar has retained its original facade and interior. It was once a popular haunt for tin miners, lawyers, and doctors.
I think everyone visiting Ipoh comes here … and with good reason. The owners are super cool … they even came and sat with us for a while while we had a beer. Beers are cold and cheap, and the vibe is very nostalgic. Highly recommend!

Terrible customer service. Called the number provided to check if they are open, and she replied closed temporarily. When I asked when will you’ll be opening again, she said “check Facebook and see la”. Not surprised they closed down after one phone call.

Cuisines Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its spacious and visually appealing ambiance. The restaurant is known for its excellent service, with staff members like Mr. Jeet and Mr. Tanvir receiving praise for their friendly and accommodating nature. The Grilled New Zealand Lamb Rack is a popular choice among patrons, praised for its tender meat and perfect charred edges. While the high tea set is enjoyable, some suggest adding more savory options to enhance the experience.
This restaurant should have a higher review. We stay here longer term, and eat at this restaurant frequently. The staff are friendly and helpful. The fresh juices and the food are very good. We are vegan, and they have nice vegan options. And the staff have helped us with turning non vegan dishes into vegan, and they have turned out very good. We are very happy they have helped us with this. We thank the staff for their help, and the food here is good quality and tastes nice.

Delicious breakfast provided by hotel for guests. Food was good but it was very crowded and I gave up getting coffee because the queue was too long.

Visited for breakfast during our stay at the apartment. The views overlooking the lake and limestone hills with the virgin forest is quite a scene. Very cooling, hardly humid. Didn't encounter any mosquitoes or insects. Food was ok. It's the ambience and views here which is a standout. The guest service officer, Miguel, is a very friendly and hospitable chap.

Food was decent as a hotel - portion size was sufficient, taste not bad. Service staff was friendly but the food was served extremely slow. We were here around 1pm, they start serving the food one item after another and the last item was served after 1 hour.

We had clearly explained to the restaurant staff that we were sweaty from exercising, recovering from the flu, and accompanied by our 94-year-old father whom we did not want to walk up the stairs. We requested to be seated in the open-air main restaurant which is already set up also to serve breakfast, yet we were initially directed to join the others in an enclosed tent at the back of the restaurant — although they eventually accommodated us. As we are not part of the large group tours they have due to long weekend, we felt disappointed to be treated the same. And interestingly ..after about 30mins they eventually open up the open-air main restaurant as the tent is already filled!

I recently dined at Haven Cuisine in Ipoh, lured by their bold claim of being the number one restaurant in the city. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but number one. The service was atrocious—slow, inattentive, and unprofessional. Despite the high price tags on the menu, the food was mediocre at best, lacking both flavor and presentation. Given their exorbitant prices, I expected a culinary delight, but was met with disappointment. Haven Cuisine should be ashamed of calling themselves the number one restaurant in Ipoh. Their claim is absolutely ridiculous and far from the truth Notes: the are flies everywhere!
Jazlan Z — Google review
This is coming from being a repeat customer. This is our 4th time here. It seems the quality has significantly dropped. Perhaps it's because the place is full. We had to wait 10 mins for cutlery being replenished. The signature welcome drink is no longer available and we were offered cordial instead. Breakfast was a nightmare. Dinner was rather shabby. They used to have a nice set dinner served complete with soup, main course, dessert and drink. This time there was no soup. Not recommended to order spaghetti and meatballs - the meatballs were processed balls, not freshly made. The burger is ok and pasta marinara is ok too. We understand the costs is going up but it's hard to not compare to the past when you've been a loyal customer. Not recommended to take full board (eat your dinner somewhere else!). After all, we're in Ipoh.... there's no need to eat hotel food if it's shabby. The staff are all trying their best but it's tough when there's lack of training and resources. Anyway this will probably be our last time there. Time to check out other properties in Perak.

We had breakfast here as part of our hotel stay. There was ample buffet food, however, the taste can be improved. The nasi lemak and pasta tasted flat and flavourless. The service was excellent though and the staff helped me get some food.

Durbar at FMS, formerly known as FMS Bar & Restaurant, is a historic establishment in Malaysia with a rich heritage dating back to 1906. Founded by a Hainanese immigrant, it was a popular spot for the European mining and plantation community. The restaurant's grilled halibut is praised for its crispy skin and tender flesh, while the crab fried rice surprises diners with its flavorful depth.
Food was great on its own but was made all the more better with excellent service from Susan. Her stories of the history of FMS and little tour of the mezzanine made the dining experience all the more memorable. We especially loved the chicken starter dish (can't recall the name) and fish and chips. Chicken Maryland was rather special. Pity we couldn't try the bomb Alaska (item not served) and the crepe suzette was too big for our party of 5 after our full meal. P.S. I enjoyed the many thoughtful little details that went into decorating the place; preserving the architectural heritage of the place and the spirit of a bygone era. The wooden covers to hide the AC units are really clever and tastefully designed!

I gave s three star service although the food tasted ok because they do not have any concept of serving western dishes course by course. We ordered soup, salads, sides and main dishes for 9 pax. Soup was served, mushroom soup was served hot and tasted good. Oxtail soup had too much herbs in it so does not sit well with our palette. When we were halfway done with soup, the garden salad and salad nicoise were served and we accepted it. But before we knew it, all the sides and main courses like pork chop, fish & chips, classic chicken, maryland chicken and two other steaks were served at the same time! We had to stop them from serving another two tenderloin as the table was so filled up! I commented to servers that I felt the pace was as quick as Mcdonald’s! Servers were wonderful people but serving was just too swift. We arrived at 6.15pm and before 1hr, all food had been served. I have never came across an issue like this while eating western food in many parts of the world. The whole experience made me feel so rushed and I could not feel relax despite smiling faces and wonderful service rendered by Kevin and other servers.

Durbar FMS is truly a nostalgic gem in Ipoh. I had the Chicken Maryland, my wife enjoyed the Hainanese Chicken Chop, and my son went for the Fish and Chips – each dish was delicious, hearty, and carried that old-school charm you don’t find often these days. The flavors brought back a sense of comfort, almost like stepping into a different time where food was simple yet full of character. The ambience of the restaurant was just as memorable as the food. The vintage décor, colonial-era touches, and warm atmosphere made the dining experience feel like a journey into the past. It’s rare to find a place that balances great food with such unique character, but Durbar FMS does it perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ipoh who wants more than just a meal – it’s an experience.

Visited this hidden gem in Ipoh with my family last Monday, and it was a truly memorable experience. The ambience was cozy and welcoming, but what made our visit really special was the exceptional service by the staffs. Susan, a wonderful lady, made us feel like we were guests in her own home. She was so attentive and kind, going the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable. She even shared the beautiful history of the restaurant with us, which added a personal touch to our meal. The food was delicious, and the warmth of the service made the whole experience unforgettable. Highly recommended!

Ive come to this wonderful place since I was 3. Im so glad as I have millions of memories in this place. And the shocking thing is it has kept up the good food, service and atmosphere even 11 years later at 14. I love the food especially the Chinese and western cuisine. However the garlic bread is replaced with sourdough FYI. But still taste fantastic. The staff is Polite and attentive. They are very kind and well mannered. Many thanks for creating such amazing memories for me. Atmosphere is calm with low music in the background. The many pictures and historical events decorate the restaurant. Everytime I come to ipoh I always visit the restaurant. I can see the staff cleaning very well. Highly recommend

We stumbled onto this old gem by chance; guided by heavy downpour and lack of open bars! What a blessing. If you are looking for old school colonial setting (especially if you have been to KL’s Coliseum when it was still in town), then this is the spot. The staff here are super friendly and hospitable. Food brought back memories of eating in Coliseum when I was a kid. Definitely recommend this place! Chicken chop, fried chicken, fish and chips, baked crab, poached pear, crepe Suzette. All must try’s :)

I am so glad I came here. Such a beautiful and historic space to enjoy a beer, a snack, and some light conversation. I thoroughly enjoyed my time looking at the antique maps, portraits, and pictures throughout, and the kind staff took me around and told me all about the history. Interesting selection of beers and foods not commonly found in the area.

What a gem of a place! In our adventures researching family history linked to Ipoh we dropped in on the first restaurant established in 1906. Greeted warmly by the lovely Susan upon poking our noses through the door, we were taken on a magical history lesson of everything this Time Machine of an establishment had to offer. So in love with the warm welcome we received, we came back the same evening for supper, where we were treated like royalty! The food was delicious, the service exceptional, the memories… priceless. Thank you all at Durbar at FMS for becoming such a special moment in our Ipoh experience!

The rustic ambiance and warm lighting create a nostalgic atmosphere, making it a perfect setting for a memorable meal. The restaurant is known for its excellent service and specializes in Italian cuisine, particularly Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas that are considered some of the best in Malaysia.
Loved the pizza here!!! flavorful, and baked to perfection. The vibes are very chill, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Even though there’s no aircon, the air flow is surprisingly good, so it still feels comfortable. Perfect spot to hang out and enjoy good food with friends.

Unique and antique. The atmosphere here is chill especially by evening, suitable for gathering and chit chatting. Song selections are great too, match with the vibe here.

The mixed salad was a bit underwhelming with dry toast cubes sprinklered on top that were supposed to be croutons. The pizza was fluffy, cheesy and hot, a naughty amount of beef salami rounded the satisfying experience. The alcohol free mojito was to die for. Fresh fruit juices are also very nice. Great sitting on a balcony but there's no access for wheelchairs.

The Mushroom burrata wood fired pizza was superb & the dough was flavorful. The wait can be quite long as they used the wood fired oven that takes some time to bake the pizza. Ordered Harbin beer that is refreshing while waiting. Prawn risotto was just okay and not as flavorful. The place can be quite warm because it’s open air.

Myth Eatery & Bar is a charming spot that captivates visitors with its stunning morning ambiance, making it easy to get lost in the beauty of the surroundings rather than focusing solely on the menu. The venue exudes an enchanting blend of vintage European village vibes intertwined with modern artistic touches, reminiscent of M Boutique Hotel. While breakfast options are somewhat limited and complimentary, the friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
Love the cakes!! The smores pie is a heavenly gooey. We also tried the brownies and the chocolate mint mousse. The atmosphere is also nice.

Complimentary breakfast from M Boutique Hotel. Taste was good, portion was too small for a big eater.
Victor C — Google review
Came here for a birthday dinner treat to my bf since we were staying at the M Hotel but was really disappointed by the food. RM 65+ for a beef tenderloin which is tinier than the small of your hand. The platter had 'tomato salsa' which is actually just small cuts of a tomato. And mashed potatoes with undissolved salt - you can make better ones at home, and for fraction of that price! If you're a guest at the M Hotel, head to Old Town, never here. Our total bill came to RM 155 for 2 drinks, one salmon dish (sad excuse for a salmon, and the salmon cut was not the usual fillet cut, but like the bony ones you get at the supermarket), and one pathetic beef sirloin. You can have a delightful dinner with bigger sirloin in KL. Not worth it, only visit if you have cash to burn.

good service , clean environment BUT, food is really bad. i had cajun chicken , that piece of chicken is so freaking small , chicken is tasteless, side dishes are so little. One piece of small lettuce , 3 pieces of cucumber and a spoon of mashes potato. the piece of chicken is as big as iphone 6 size, and it cost RM 30 bucks. My friend had a bento with saba fish . After having the saba fish , 2 of my friend got stomach ache. Because he is the only person who tried my another friend's saba fish . Overall its consider Expensive due to the low quality of food. Japanese bento with normal rice, its not even japanese rice. very upset to spend these amount of money on these kind food. NOT RECOMMENDED .

Myth Eatery is one of the food options at M Boutique Hotel. We ordered the Grilled Chicken Burger (RM22), Curry Chicken Bento (RM23) and a post of Chamomile Tea (RM12). The tea was first served, and it was a decent pot of tea, and perhaps may be one of the two satisfactory items during dinner. The curry chicken bento was served first. The Japanese curry sauce was average. I was disappointed that the chicken served had bones in it. This is the first Japanese chicken bento set where the chicken was not adequately prepared. The accompanying mashed potato was quite delicious though. I was halfway through my meal when the grilled chicken burger was served. Considering the wait, I would have thought the burger would be amazing, but it fell short of expectations. If you are staying at the hotel, maybe seek out other nearby food options.

Met 2 of the most unhelpful staff. Staying at the hotel but they wanted to charge RM1 for filling up a reusable water bottle. Even had to explain to them the reason is to avoid single use plastic waste. Next day during breakfast received such sarcastic remarks when we had breakfast there.
Connie — Google review
Probably is due to RMCO, but they are in shorts of nearly everything. They told us there is no more bread then they said they going to serve us potatoes, instead they gave us a croissant which tasted expired. Their plain water came with dirty dust twice 😜 They did apologize but I would advise if you are staying in M boutique hotel, do not take the breakfast set that was offered by the Myth café. There are great food in Ipoh.

Kedai Kopi Ah Chow 亚洲茶室 is a popular traditional coffee shop in Ipoh, known for its alcohol-laced white coffee served in dainty China cups. The shop opens early at 6:30 am and is particularly crowded with locals, so it's best to visit before 9 am to avoid the rush.
This place is underrated. We ordered 1 plate of Chee Cheong Fun + 1 jumbo white coffee and it was SUFFICIENT for TWO PERSON! Special credits to this chee Cheong Fun chef for being able to twitch the recipe into perfection. The dried prawns n sweet pork was very well balanced. One of the best Chee Cheong Fun I've ever tried in my life for only Rm6!!!!! Can you imagine? Reasonable price and delicious. If you go to Ipoh must try!

It's cafe... there are several shops inside. Then it seems like coffee shop is the main business here, so if you want to eat without drinking something, I don't recomend. Also little difficult by English. There are someone helping you in English though. Anyway the noodle that I have was good. Then the guy who helped me was nice guy.

Look, sometimes life is so hard you need something stiff to go with your coffee. Kedai Kopi Ah Chow, located on the famous White Coffee belt in Ipoh, holds its own among the heavyweights for one thing. The fusion coffee is a must-order, a giddy concoction of liquor + white coffee which delivers a creamy smoothness, a divine mouth-feel and a swift kick to your gonads, I mean consciousness. This unique selling point is the one constant that has kept this coffee shop afloat for decades, while the food stalls have rotated over the years. As for food, the curry mee is an easy recommendation for visitors here, but it's not among the best I've had. It's just creamy and aromatic with the bare minimum of portions and toppings to keep you fulfilled. If you like yours hot or loaded with aromatics and spices, look elsewhere. I've not tried the other food items but I'll be real here. I came here just for the fusion coffee. That said, if you ever get tired of the swathes of tourists lining up for tourist coffee in Nam Heong and Sin Yoon Loong (whose standards have really taken a nosedive through the years), come on over to Ah Chow, an extra-casual coffee shop with the boisterous lady boss, teeming with locals enjoying their morning brew with one leg up the chairs. We don't judge.

First time to ever try Kopitiam in Malaysia. I thought it's only 1 resto but there are actually 5+ stalls inside. Was only supposed to try the Curry Mee (mild curry flavor and just the right amount of spicy) but when we got seated at the table with a bubbly and friendly local, she also recommended we try the Hua Tiao Prawn Noodle, which was also very good 🥰 it looks simple but the sauce is a game changer (fish sauce and fermented chili, i think). Iced Kopi was strong, and I personally think the best food are situated in places like this ☺️ just be sure to save a picture of the menu or the picture of the food for easier ordering! Take note of these, which were very helpful to me: One - Satu Two - Duwa Takeaway - Tapaw

A Hidden Gem with a View 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Had the pleasure of dining here and WOW! What an experience! Located on the 7th floor, this spot gives you a stunning view overlooking Ipoh city. The breeze, the ambient lighting, and the background music really set the mood, whether you're out on a romantic date night or catching up with friends and family. Indoor or alfresco seating available, and trust me, both are equally charming. Now, let’s talk service. It was absolutely top-notch. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, warm, and so attentive. The kind of service where you’re checked on just enough to feel special, not stalked. 10/10 for hospitality! On to the food, tried the Linguini Pesto Carbonara for the first time and it did not disappoint. Creamy, flavorful, and the pesto was surprisingly a hit, even with my boyfriend who usually dodges anything green. The Perch Fish & Chips came beer-battered to golden perfection, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Paired with a pea purée and a lemon pepper sauce that brought everything together, YUMMY. Seriously, that sauce needs its own fan base! But the real superstar? Honey Garlic Chicken Wings!!! Crispy, sticky, sweet, savoury, basically everything a chicken wing should aspire to be. Best I've had in a long time, and I don’t say that lightly. Their drink selection is also worth mentioning. There is something for everyone, whether you're feeling fancy or just want something refreshing. All in all, this place ticked all the boxes : Good vibes, amazing food and excellent service. Whether it's your first date, fifth anniversary, or just a “we survived the week” dinner, this is the place to go. Will definitely be coming back for round two (and more of those wings). 🔸Operating hours : 4 PM – 12 AM daily (last kitchen call at 11:30 PM). Closed on Mondays.

Nestled above STG in the charming Ipoh Old Town, Miners Arms is a vintage bar that has been delighting patrons since 1978. This inviting spot boasts an impressive selection of imported beers, cocktails, whiskeys, wines, and a delectable menu featuring both Asian and Western cuisine. Guests rave about dishes like Tea Smoked Chicken and Sizzling Coffee Steak, all served in an ambiance adorned with nostalgic portraits from the British era.
Fantastic food. Loved the tea baked chicken. Really delicious. Oxtail soup was fantastic too. Server was very friendly. Food was also served very quickly.

One of the nicest restaurants in old town. The thing Tht really stood out was the awesome personalized service. The food was really good. We stopped by just to have a beer but ended up staying for several beers as well as the burgers and tirimisu

Came here during happy hour and was excited to discover that Miner’s Arms has reopened! It was my first visit to the new location, and the moment I stepped inside, it brought back so many childhood memories. I had a Whiskey Sour, fresh oysters, and smoked duck breast, everything was absolutely delicious. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the cocktail was well-crafted. The nostalgic atmosphere really adds to the overall experience. If you enjoy old-school charm paired with good food, this place is definitely worth a visit. The service was friendly, and I had a great evening here. Finally, a whiskey bar with food in Ipoh~ love it! Definitely coming back again!

Amazing decor! We really enjoyed the artwork and the furniture was lovely, very good service, great food. Wish there were more wine choices by the glass or small bottle though, more beer choices too - also "normal", not just European specialty beers, and the mango margarita cocktail didn't taste quite right (something strange about the "tequila", I'm a bit of an afficianado....).

Come here for the nostalgic dining experience if you know how the old Miner’s Arms used to be. On my recent trip back to ipoh I visited this new Miner’s Arms, it’s nice to see some old heritage shops being repurposed. Oxtail soup and dinner rolls bring back the memories.

Beyond brilliant! I was a bit foul about Ipoh until I discovered the Speakeasy at the Miners Arms. We arrived at 5 (opening hour) and stayed for a meal and a decent bottle of wine... great music... great ambience... great everything. Couldn't speak more highly of the upstairs whiskey lounge. 11 out of 10.

Nice place. Relaxing and the music is not too loud. We can talk normally. The service bar guy is awesome. He can make any drinks you requested. My husband and I really enjoyed the place. We will come again once we are in Ipoh. The price are reasonable too. Ohhh!!! Our food was so yummy. Well prepared through the chef’s heart. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Delicious food, brilliant ambiance, and best of all, awesome service. We were waited on by Jeremy, who was very attentive. We ordered the stuffed crab, squid ink pasta, nasi lemak, mushroom soup, tomato and mozzarella pizza, crème brûlée, and lava chocolate muffin. We loved every bite.

Dong Tai Kopitiam Pasir Pinji offers a serene atmosphere adorned with charming vintage decor, making it an ideal spot to unwind while savoring a delightful breakfast. The amiable and attentive staff contribute to a welcoming experience for patrons. The menu features an array of delectable options such as Kaya Butter Toast, Half Boiled Eggs, and Pork Noodle Soup, ensuring there's always something new to try.
They offer free parking directly opposite the cafe, I assume it gets packed during peak hours. There was a person managing the queue at the door, came on a weekday so managed to get a seat in a minute or two. Got their famous kaya butter toast, a cham & their curry mee. Kaya butter toast was good, thick slab of butter. Cham was ok, got the less sugar and really it was less sugar! Went well with the bread. Curry mee was good too, very strong curry flavour. Came with pretty high expectations given the glowing reviews and left satisfied. Would come back.

Service was INSANELY fast 🤯🤯 literally only took them 5 minutes from the moment we ordered to start serving food! The food was ok. Huge offerings on the menu, prices were fair and decent, portions were ordinary but filling enough. It was very crowded when we went so we sat indoors and it was also super loud so that wasn’t great. Otherwise, space was clean, strong air conditioning, decent ventilation. Not too sure if I’ll be back again but it was a decent meal!

Posted 14th Sept 2025 Came here on a weekend Sunday, almost lunch hour with a short queue. Given a queue number and waited only for approximately 10 minutes. Dishes came out relatively fast even though the place was packed. The authentic shredded chicken noodle was very flavourful and full of aroma but a tad in the sweet side, but it was quite generous with the toppings. Special mention goes to the kuih, which is really good and not too sweet. The butter kaya toast was done just right with the right amount of butter and kaya. Ordering is simple and easy as you just write down the code indicated on the menu. Service was quick and attentive. The place is clean, though a bit noisy as the place is packed. Ample street parking available. Overall, it was a good experience.

The desserts here are wonderfully refreshing and cooling—perfect for a warm day! We had high hopes for the coffee, but the hot brew turned out a bit too sweet for our taste. On the bright side, the rojak & roti bakar were delicious and well-prepared. The kuih here are so popular they sold out by the time we arrived!

Heard a lot of good about this food stall. We were greeted warmly by a young man on the way in with much needed cool AC on such heaty days. The traditional nasi lemak paired with its spicy chilli's sambal taste good that you don't even need any protein to go with it. Go with Curry noodles if you are one that prefers heavy curry powder taste and spicy savoury broth. Chee cheong fun was however a tag disappointing. The sauce was premix and pour on tasted acceptable. Iced kopi and lemon tea were delightfully on point, not too sweet, sour, and yet still retains its bean's fragrance with its foamy froth. Even their nonya kuey are good. Highly recommended.
Lan S — Google review
My lunch was a study in contrasts. While the meal had its high points, the main dishes unfortunately couldn't quite measure up to the standard set by A-Jie across the street. I'd rate the food about 20% lower in terms of overall deliciousness. The Nyonya and regular Assam Laksa were merely acceptable, lacking a certain depth of flavor. The traditional Nasi Lemak was missing that essential, fragrant coconut milk aroma, and its accompanying sambal chicken was a touch too soft for my liking. The coffee offered a bold, robust taste, though its aroma was surprisingly faint. The true savior of the meal was the Nyonya Kueh. It was exceptional—on par with A-Jie's best. The balance was perfect; it was not overly sweet, allowing the flavors of the ubi kayu and mochi to shine through. It was incredibly fresh. Similarly, the caramel custard was refined and elegantly suited my palate, providing a delightful end to the experience."

Food was tasty, the pork leg was soft and tender, easy to tear away from bone. The mochi skin was soft and thin, and the ginko barley was amazing. Felt that the egg tart filling could be more and cookie crust biscuit can be thinner. Amazing atmosphere and interior deco, even have level 2.

Restaurant
Warung Theater @ Cathay by Nifayyi offers a fusion of Western cuisine with a touch of Indian flavors. The Chicken Burger and Chef Recommended Chicken Chop have a hint of tikka flavor, giving them an unconventional taste. The Grilled Lamb Chop is highly recommended, although the mint sauce could be improved. The spacious and clean environment provides a comfortable dining experience, but the limited toilet facilities should be noted.
A nice and cozy café with a great atmosphere. I’ve visited many times, and the food is always delicious and consistently on point. I also love the unique experience of having the food delivered to the table by a robot—it adds a fun touch! Their cakes are absolutely delightful too.

Very cozy place to bring family, friends or partners. Variety of food but I can't fully enjoyed my lamb shoulder as it's hard to cut and chew. The food taste is okay but I dont recommend lamb or beef food based. The staff is very helpful
Muhamad H — Google review
The food was tasty with large portion provided. They made the fries instead of using the frozen ones. Hawaiian pizza was filled with real chicken and tomato sauce instead of chicken slices and instant sauces. The restaurant used a digital menu where you have to submit your order and pay it immediately. However, we had to wait for more than 30 minutes for our food, and around 20 minutes for drinks. I believe this can be improved to cater customers' satisfaction during peak hours. They provided toilets and prayer rooms for customers to use. It was big and clean as well. The environment was relaxing and was divided into 2 parts; outdoor and indoor.

1. This restaurant is quite spacious and has a really nice, cozy interior—especially in the morning, it feels so relaxing to enjoy breakfast here. There’s even a pasar karat nearby, which adds a unique vibe to the area. 2. The food is absolutely delicious! It is a bit pricey, but honestly worth every cent for the taste and quality. They even have a robot waiter, which makes the experience fun and different. The only thing is that food came out a little late, probably because it was crowded—but I didn’t mind since the food was worth the wait. 3. Parking can be limited, especially on weekdays when the pasar karat is happening, so that’s something to keep in mind. The toilet is small but very comfortable and clean, though you’ll need to go downstairs at the back of the restaurant to access it. Overall, I’d give this place a solid 5/5 for the food, vibes, and interior design. The service may be a bit slow, but it’s still worth it!”

Went here last weekend for dinner and it was packed from outside area to the upper floor. We were lucky to get a seating as we came in without any booking (pax of 13) The location of the restaurant is in mid town area, parking is provided but limited. The ambience is cool where the space is decorated with such cosy and warm lighting, spacious area, multiple artistic art, toilet and surau provided. Clean and beautiful. For the food, the price range is at higher limit considering this is not typical tomyam star wars restaurant, but it is acceptable. Easily rm40-50 per head. We ordered plenty of food but the one that got a place in my heart is the skin-on fries. Yup. The fries is not the typical frozen fries you can get anywhere. It got the taste, not bland, crispy on the outside but soft in the inside. Bravo! Others food are so-so typical western flavour malaysian style. Some dishes were even served cold. I am not sure if there's mixed orders or misscomm, but some dishes we served a bit late and cold. Considering the restaurant is packed during our visit, then it is understandable, we did not complaint. Pizza- we tried lamb masala and beef pepperoni, both were okay. Big-soft-thin pizza, napoletane style. For lamb masala it reminds me of naan with lamb masala. The taste is similar. Grilled lamb shoulder- not that tender and juicy. A bit hard to chew. Generous portion. I dont like the coleslaw because the vege were big chunks, pasta salad is a bit bland to my liking. Will i repeat again? Bila aku kaya...

Tried the carbonara and bolognese, but both were a bit too salty for my taste. The rest of the food was really good though – especially the crispy chicken burger, which was delicious and came in a big portion. Worth trying if you enjoy hearty western food!

Had a short vacay around Ipoh and went café-hunting — and we found this gem! The moment we stepped in, we were really impressed with the decor. It’s a complete 360° change from the outside. The vibes were serene and super calm. The greenery and tree-themed decorations truly gave a refreshing, relaxing mood. We ordered chicken chop, fish and chips, and nasi lemak with crispy chicken, along with drinks. All came in generous portions, and the food was delicious. However, the nasi lemak took a bit longer to be served , but worth the wait. The staff were fast and friendly when taking our order. Even the toilet was super aesthetic , love the attention to detail! Overall, it’s a great spot to chill. The café is located right beside a plant nursery .. looks like they might be under the same management. After your meal, you can stroll around the nursery... who knows, you might end up buying a plant or two!

The place looks promising but the brunch food here is so BAD I would give a 0 star if I could. The steak was asked medium rare but a it’s tough as rubber. The lamb taco tasted like paper drenched in bbq sauce. Honestly if your establishment can’t afford to hire an actual chef to cook then you should just stick to coffee and cakes in your cafe.

After two previous delays, I finally had the opportunity to dine at Warehouse, Palo 101. On a rainy evening, locating the entrance proved challenging at this food and brew establishment situated at 189, Unit 3, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Taman Jubilee, Ipoh. Visiting on a Monday night offered an overall enjoyable experience with live music from a band and attentive staff in a roomy setting.
Warehouse - Eat Drink Live in Ipoh is a dynamic spot that combines great food, drinks, and live entertainment in an industrial-chic setting. The venue stands out with its edgy interior, complete with exposed brick walls, modern lighting, and a lively ambiance that makes it perfect for a night out or a casual meal. The menu is a blend of Western and local flavors, offering something for everyone. Popular dishes include the crispy seabass seafood and chips, and the Australian beef burger, both praised for their generous portions and excellent taste. Their drinks menu is equally impressive, featuring creative cocktails and a wide selection of beers and non-alcoholic options. The live music performances add a unique touch, creating a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. Service is attentive and friendly, making guests feel welcome from the moment they step in. For those visiting early, the 20% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages before 7 PM is a fantastic deal. Whether you’re there for a relaxed dinner, a celebration, or just to enjoy the music, Warehouse delivers on all fronts. It’s a must-visit spot in Ipoh, perfect for foodies, music lovers, and anyone looking for a memorable experience.

Unforgettable night - with beautiful people and gorgeous atmosphere. The liveband is terrific, top-notch service, probably the best drinking experience in Ipoh. Child-friendly, recommended for all.
Danny C — Google review
It was a perfect place to chill and talk with your friends , the band singing there was superb with the interaction with the audience. The food is good too like the snacks , just some improvement needed as staff should try to make eye contact with customers when walking around during the band singing because when customers shout they won't hear it as the bass and speakers are too loud (my table doesn't contain a call button)

The price of draught beer was ridiculously expensive (RM220 for 10 small cups of draught beer) —but hey, since we were in Ipoh, we figured we had to try one of these legendary “Ipoh live band bars,” right? The singers were doing their best, and kudos to them for trying to bring life to the place. Now, the real showstopper? The service—or rather, the complete lack of it. Instead of hiring actual waiters or waitresses, they’ve apparently rounded up a cast of “lala” boys and girls who seem to think customer service is optional. Basic manners? Nonexistent. Courtesy? Never heard of it. Maybe instead of overcharging for beer, consider investing a little in staff training. We came here to relax and spend money—not to run a crash course in “How to Be a Decent Human 101.” Just a thought.

Old Town Kitchen Cafe in Ipoh has undergone a revitalization, making it a delightful place to explore. The cafe offers affordable prices and a clean, pleasant ambiance with friendly staff. The food portions are generous and delicious, particularly the dry chili pan mee and nasi lemak. Despite some minor issues like leaking during rain, the owner is proactive in addressing them. With fast service and ample parking after 8pm, this cafe is worth multiple visits for its marvelous and reasonably priced food offerings.
I visited here on ramadhan days with my colleagues. I would say this shop specialties are the noodles. I love it a lot. While the rice dish are standard but the price is student friendly. The staff are really friendly and i had some little talk with the owner, he was a very bright person. The place is nice and like an old but modern like theam. Tbh I don’t mind the looks of the shop im just the for the food and affordable price. Haha. Today is my second time here but didn’t get to take the picture of my food, i was so hungry. The food served was delicious and full of flavor. The atmosphere was pleasant and the space was spacious, making it a comfortable place to dine. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food, definitely good value for money. However, there are a couple of areas that could be improved. The cleanliness of the restrooms needs more attention, and the customer service could be warmer. A friendlier attitude and a few smiles from the staff would go a long way in enhancing the dining experience. Overall, still a pleasant place to eat and I’d rate it a solid 4/5. Worth a visit! 👍🏼

Varieties of food choices. Price not bad. I tried the Chilli Pan Mee and I think the taste is acceptable. But the ambiance and atmosphere is cozy for chit chat. But if you are rushing between lunch, maybe not suitable, as the service is slightly slow. I received my order 15-29 mins upon order. All and all, not a bad place to hang out and a good place to eat.
NaRa W — Google review
Let me start this off with, no one forced me to review, no one asked me to write this, But i feel like i need to, It looks like an average ipoh cafe from the outside, maybe a little rustic and unassuming, but stepping inside, it felt like home. Felt like i got back to my favorite hometown and ate my grandma’s fried rice. I had to admit, i wasn’t in my best emotional nor mental state these past few days due to work, But stumbling upon this shop, felt like god sent. The food is good and warm, the servers were quick, it gets busy in the afternoon, but they’ll try to seat you as best as they could. I almost had an emotional breakdown at work, and i was contemplating on smashing my head against the toilet sink. But i calmed myself down and drove to this place again, sat down, ordered my favorite ice lime jelly, and it felt like.. i’m at peace, my head cleared, all my problems doesn’t seem so big. And the ice lime jelly? It was perfect, and i ordered tomyum fried rice, that too was perfect I think i’m a bit of a picky eater, so i placed an order without vegetables or shrimp, Usually restaurants would ignore it, then they’ll claim they didn’t see the notes, i don’t usually mind those. But they didn’t ignore it, and the fried rice was hella good. This review is a bit long, but, i hope any one of you who reads this, knows how much this place meant to me

The long queue is worth it because surprisingly the food is really good. We don’t normally go for viral food because a lot of times they are a let-down but this one is actually really good. Queuing system is based on your pax. Then they will give out number based in your pax. So the line doesnt really matter, just get your number first. I loved the chicken feet! Very flavorful and tender, easy to nimble on. Dimsums have all the right flavor, we took mostly shrimps and all of them tasted great. There are two ways of ordering. One by QR for drinks and ala carte. For dimsums, appetizers, and side dishes (?), their staffs will come to your table with prepared foods for you to choose directly on the spot. Overall the service is very quick and systematic. Recommended eating spot in Ipoh. It lives up to the hype!

I'm the second customer after they open the restaurant, but the condition of the toilet is like I'm the last. Dirty.
Anime E — Google review
New branch for Canning DimSum. Much more bigger than the first branch as it is in the factory area. People who want to go here, better be travel in group as this area is very quiet and far from main road.

This is my new favorite dim sum spot . Their roasted duck dim sum is delightful. 10/10 . Ambiance si good . Plenty of parking .

Dart bar
Long Bar is a vibrant hotspot in Ipoh, perfect for gathering with friends and enjoying a lively atmosphere. With live music that adds to the energy, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to unwind, although the volume can make conversations challenging at times. The bar boasts friendly staff who are knowledgeable about drink selections, ensuring a memorable experience. Patrons appreciate the welcoming vibe and camaraderie among guests, making it a great place to enjoy good food and drinks together.
Great place to hang out with friends, good PR as well. I like the environment that comes with live band singing, yet the sound is too loud, difficult to talk to friends Indeed beer is pricey compared to neighbors.
Calvyn L — Google review
Great place ! Came to Ipoh to play darts and the service was splendid, along with great suggestion of drinks that make it into a memorable night. Will come again.
Mun C — Google review
Look, atmosphere is king. Beer tastes the same everywhere, so why not drink at home? Because home cannot provide the atmosphere, vibes and camaraderie a well-staffed bar can. And Long Bar is one of the best I've come across on a weekend night. The waitresses are accomodating and keen to adapt, they will back off a bit if you just want to chill, or stay and mingle if you're willing to layan. The live band that day had a good repertoire of songs, and also does requests. What made my night was, a few times the bar transformed into karaoke night because there were a few good singers amongst the customers. Including my inebriated friend. They also take orders for small bites, salty fried food like sausages or chicken wings to go with the beer. Good to have options, and beats drinking at home. It was a satisfying night and I'd not hesitate to come again with pals.

Love the place at first. But should have strengthen the execution of “No Smoking” operation (or just take away the No Smoking” sign board. Been there just a while ago, customer smoking in the shop and no one cares… we left immediately after the second time I pin point to the crews that there are people smoking, and no action been taken.

First time go to Maze.. ground floor will be comfy and easier to chit chat.. If you go upstairs, it will be a different environment.. you can sing whatever song you like .. but hardly can chit chat with friends.. somehow quite a nice place to drop by once a while..and their food is nice..It suits my taste..

Always come here for dinner, lovely environment and staffs. Cocktail is lovely as well. Updated: now St.James got new menu as Thai fusion food cooking by Thais. Seem no more Western food. If you love Thai food and enjoy drinks, let's come here. Only my bad, I am not the smoke lover so feeling uncomfortable to relax here for long as there are many of smokers inside.

Did not order food, came here for the Guinness. Prices reasonable for pints and buckets. There's a special promo on Tues. In house music is good..👍👍 we could enjoy the music and have a conversation easily. Staff attentive and friendly. It's a sports bar with several screens showing different football games. Everything was good for us till we realised coasters were recycled ( tiny details are important... For us )
