Cathedral
Church
The Cathedral of Our Lady is a stunning Gothic-style cathedral in Antwerp, known for its single spire and Baroque masterpieces by the renowned artist Rubens. It took over 170 years to build and is considered the largest church in the Benelux area. The interior features seven aisles, flying buttresses, soaring arches, and an abundance of natural light, creating a breathtaking atmosphere reminiscent of a Flemish Master painting.
A magnificent and grand cathedral with a rich and fascinating history – an absolute must-visit if you’re in Antwerp. The architecture is breathtaking, both inside and out, showcasing intricate details, stunning stained glass windows, and towering spires that reflect centuries of craftsmanship and devotion. Walking through the cathedral, you're immediately struck by the atmosphere – peaceful, majestic, and full of stories from the past. It's not just a place of worship, but also a treasure trove of art and heritage. You’ll find masterpieces by renowned artists such as Peter Paul Rubens, adding even more depth to the experience. Every corner offers something unique, from beautifully carved altars to quiet chapels and historical artifacts. The cathedral leaves a lasting impression and gives a real sense of the cultural and spiritual heart of Antwerp. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a moment of calm in the city, this cathedral delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended – a true highlight of any trip to Antwerp.

This place is incredible. Such beautiful ornate details and awe inspiring architecture. I am constantly fascinated by these old world buildings and love to visit them. This is one of the biggest cathedral’s I’ve seen with many spaces to worship, walk around and see beautiful art and sculptures. Highly recommended when you visit Antwerp.
Patrick F — Google review
The Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp is incredibly beautiful. It’s one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, featuring masterpieces by Rubens. Please note that entry is not free.
Samir A — Google review
Gorgeous architecture of this cathedral stands out in the centre of the old town. Getting inside is quite pricey and I was not happy to see that guy actually have to pay to get into a church. But given how many tourists are there, they just make it for a living. Try getting to the old town in the early morning - then you can enjoy the cathedral exterior without crowds of people.
Nataliia S — Google review
The Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp, Belgium, stands as one of Europe’s greatest Gothic masterpieces and a symbol of the city’s spiritual and artistic heritage. Construction began in 1352 and spanned nearly two centuries, resulting in an awe-inspiring structure that dominates Antwerp’s skyline with its soaring 123-meter spire, the tallest church tower in the Low Countries. Inside, the cathedral is a treasure house of sacred art, most notably the world-renowned altarpieces by the Baroque master Peter Paul Rubens, whose works infuse the space with drama, color, and devotion. The interior’s vast nave, intricate stained glass, and delicate stone carvings reflect the craftsmanship and ambition of medieval builders. Despite fires and conflicts that damaged the cathedral over the centuries, it remains a living monument of faith, culture, and resilience. Today, it continues to inspire worshippers and visitors alike as the beating heart of Antwerp’s historic center.
Steven C — Google review
My advice to take a photo of a main gate and ask AI for explanation. It has good story. And be aware that sometimes there will be events and you cant visit inside.
Kamale R — Google review
This cathedral is one of a kind, a historical icon of Antwerp’s religious heritage. A calm place to revisit the past and view it from today’s perspective. It tells a timeless story of the struggle of Virgin Mary. I recommend going and seeing what is inside, it only costs €12.
Q.K . — Google review
A Michael Angelo sculpture of the Pieta is here also several Raphaels. Well worth paying 8 euros to see it all up close. Lots more to see. Wonderful experience.

Park Spoor Noord is a modern 24-hectare park that was created from reclaimed railway land. It offers various activities such as sports, play areas, and a skatepark. The park also features a terrace for concerts and hosts occasional events. Visitors can enjoy lovely views and pack a picnic lunch to spend the day in the park. Additionally, there are regular markets and events with pop-up bars and food stalls in the former warehouse located within the park.
Always a pleasure to visit, a fountain of new memories you will have when you leave. The children have so much to choose from and the water play is obviously a major draw in the summer ! Good food and drinks are also on offer. 👌🏻🥂
Axel K — Google review
Park Spoor Noord is a great spot to enjoy a sunny day, especially if you have kids. There’s plenty of open space, a fun playground, water fountains in the summer, and even a bar terrace where you can relax while the kids run around. It’s lively, green, and well-located, making it a nice escape within the city. That said, the atmosphere changes a bit once the sun goes down. You start to notice a few dodgy characters hanging around, and it doesn’t feel as safe anymore—especially if you’re with children or walking alone. It’s definitely a park best enjoyed during the daytime. All in all, a lovely place for families and daytime visits, but I’d recommend avoiding it after dark.

This park is big enough to go jogging, suited for a nice walk (the whole park is 5k steps), your children can play here, you can go picnic with friends, and there is also a bar where you can go drink something with your friends to enjoy the evening.

A beautiful and quiet place where you can sit and relax or play with friends. There is no asphalt so definitely not for roller skates but there is a small skate park and a play ground for kids.

Middelheim Museum and park is absolutely the must go. The open air exhibition of the modern art {sculptures} gives you a light strolling and a chilled immersive experience, filled with inputs from the talented artists around the world. The admission is free, indoor and outdoor exhibits, +toilets. The castle is a nice little building.
Peter D — Google review
We visited Middelheim Park on weekend. If would like to have a calm and silent weekend, you will be at correct place. We combined peaceful atmosphere with art. There is lots of modern statuses on the park. I advice you to use barcodes label just in front of the statuses to understand details. Additionally I advice to eat some snack or drinks at the restaurant located on the park entry. There is free parking spaces near entry, if you could go before noon time. Your child will be happy there by joining arranged special activities too.

Great park to stroll around… lots of green, nice flowers and pathways to walk around. Of course the attraction here is that there are sculptures all around, so it’s basically a walking museum on a park. There is free admission, indoor and outdoor exhibits, toilets and there is even a castle.

A delightful public space with a wide assortment of mainly early/mid-20thC sculptures set in beautiful park land. The cafe terrace was a particular positive on what was a sunny afternoon: good selection of hot snacks, beers and coffees. High recommend and will certainly visit again!
Thomas G — Google review
Absolutely beautiful artsy park about 3.5 km from Antwerp Central Station and easily accessible by bus, car or bike. Strikes a good balance between art and park with an amazing array of contemporary art which are displayed in the open air. There is also a wide range of unique trees which are appropriately labelled. Not too many people and tourists. Free entry and they have an app that can help in navigating through the park and identifying the art. If you want to lose yourself in thought, immerse yourself in nature while enjoying beautiful pieces of art, there is no better place in Belgium. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Antwerp and with some time to spare.

Surrounding the hall is Grote Markt, a bustling square where locals and tourists gather to dine, shop, and immerse themselves in legends and folklore.
We couldn't go inside because there was a wedding going on at the time we went, but even from the outside, the building looks and feels grand. Right next to Grote Markt. Impossible to miss. Park
Stadspark, also known as City Park, is a large triangular park in Antwerp, Belgium. It's a perfect spot for outdoor activities like jogging, skating, and picnics. The park features kids' play areas, monuments, and a serene pond. Situated near the Diamond Quarter and surrounded by elegant avenues named after famous artists like Rubenslei and Van Eycklei, Stadspark spans 35 acres of land.
It’s a well maintained park with lots of mature trees and dominated by a lake in the centre. I was there on an early Sunday evening and the place was full of families and kids eating and enjoying drinks and food. It’s nice to have something with wildlife so close to Antwerp’s city centre.

This is a beautiful spot for both parents and children, and pets are welcome too! The play area is filled with soft white sand, making it safe even for toddlers. Kids can enjoy jungle gyms, slides, and see-saws. Tall trees provide plenty of shade, and benches are thoughtfully placed right beneath them, creating a cozy and relaxing space for everyone. The tram station is just a short walk away, and the park is easily accessible by bicycle. At the heart of the park lies a serene lake, offering a cool breeze.perfect for relaxing during the summer heat.

A nice park. Where locals take their dogs for a walk or some do their runs. A big playground for children. A pond where you can see the ducks and other birds. Also had some interesting monuments and sculptures. A nice park where you can relax.

Decent size park located in the middle of Antwerp, once you’ve done your exploring you can chill here and there’s plenty of benches for you to sit. There are a lot of families biking with their children, people walking their dogs, couple sitting and chatting. Saw some homeless people near the edge of the park too.

Seems a nice, calm relaxing park. Was clean during our visit. A nice climbing area for children is also here, with a sandy floor - that could have been a bit cleaner.

Beautiful park, it’s small but packed full of lovely greenery, trees and some monuments. The path winds around the plant-filled lake, up a white bridge and under it - guaranteeing a satisfying morning stroll / run. There are also plenty of ducks, a little too far to capture on camera.

Rivierenhof Park is a hidden gem located outside the city center of Antwerp, making it a less frequented spot by tourists. However, this beautiful park is definitely worth a visit, especially during the spring and summer months. The best way to reach the park is by bike, and once there, visitors can enjoy its vast open spaces and serene lakes.
It is one of the best natural areas in Antwerpen. Beautiful nature makes my eyes satisfying. The park is cosy and charming in every season of the year.

I recently visited this park and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the atmosphere was very pleasant and peaceful, with well-maintained green spaces and a relaxing environment. It’s a great place to unwind, and there was plenty of available parking, which is always a plus in busy urban areas. However, a major downside was the lack of accessible restrooms. Although there were restroom facilities in the park, they were locked and unavailable for use. This was quite inconvenient and disappointing, especially for families or those who may need them urgently. Overall, while the park itself is beautiful and offers a nice spot to relax, the absence of usable restrooms significantly affects the overall experience.

This domain really is one of the most "mandatory-to-see” oasis of organized nature near the always busy metropolis that the city of Antwerp is. I lived fairly close to it during my youth and visited it numerous times (I also shot as many photos in it since I got my first SLR-film camera around 1965) walking or biking (the latter was allowed only in the forenoon). To me, it remained a decorum for having a reflective escape during my studying years at the athenaeum in Berchem and later on at RUCA ('Rijksuniversitair Centrum Antwerpen' located in the former 'Koloniale Hogeschool' -- neither of the two exist any more nowadays). The large park domain houses a botanical as well as a rock garden, a very picturesque central pond with a nice restaurant-castle with exhibition rooms. Furthermore, it has several ponds — you could (still can?) rent a rowing boat on one of them —, an open air theater, a beautiful rose garden and plenty of (dedicated for korfbal or free) sports- and relaxation-fields. Nowadays, occasionally some “illumination events” are organized at nighttime (dark hours). Sometimes it also serves as a grateful background for “historic re-enactment” happenings that tend to attract large numbers of visitors.

Amazing theme park! It is just nice for two 7 years old and a 2 years old to play for four hours in the park. The workers are happy, friendly and kind. We definitely had a blast!

From 14:30 reduced ticket price, plenty of time to try out everything. Very good place to spend about 2-3 hours with a child. I’d recommend most attractions for 4+ age.

I don't think most of the reviews do justice to this place. Me and my kid would have missed the amazing experience by just going through the negative reviews. It's a very nice place. It's not very big but it's decent size with 3 floors of entertainment for kids. Very near to Antwerp central station ( 5 mins walk ). All the rides are working currently and we didn't get any queues. The staff is very friendly and we did some rides twice or thrice. There is no limit on doing the rides 🙂. There are few eating options in the playing area and a whole restaurant (you need to take the lift or elevator). And don't miss the amazing ride next to eating area. it doesn't get highlighted but our kid is a explorer 😃. We enjoyed our time during the visit and spent around 5 hours there and our kid didn't get bored. It is not for very small kids ( for some rides there is a scale to measure ) but it's also for very small kids. My kid is 5 years old and did all the rides. Over all a very good experience. And book the tickets online there is always a offer on the official site and you can get a good deal.
Balesh B — Google review
this place is more for kids but as a 28 year old man who is obsessed with Studio 100 and their characters i love this place. it's not a full day attraction 2-3 hours will get everything done, you can meet Studio 100 characters, and the rides are nice, the Smurfs ride is adorable and you will want to go on it many times. very very easy to get to, located in Antwerp Central station.
Twist — Google review
Joyful place for kids. We went in a group from a children organization in Gent. Although my 2-year-old 87cm kids is too afraid to play any movement equipment (she only played carousel, ball pool), it is her first time played these and she liked it. In the evening, she happily said "carousel" many times before she went to bed. However, no cheap items (like postcard) as a souvenir can be found here. That is putty
林經緯 — Google review
Pros: relatively big, clean, what is good is that it is inside (covered place) so it can be visited in any weather, wc available, English speaking staff, Cons: It is definitely not worth the price, it is only suitable for smaller children (because of height measurement - ideal is higher than 1,2m), the carousels are small, not suitable or let's say "not interesting" for older kids, everything is expensive (fee, souvenirs shop, refreshments), there are only a few animators, even the lockers are paid! it is not worth it...
Marek S — Google review
A great indoor park, very easily accessible (back of Antwerp train station). Lots of interesting attractions for kids (even fun for adults), and the place is rather large, you can easily spend 4-5 hours in there. I'd say that the best age is between 4 and 9, but bigger kids will still have things to do. There are shops inside to buy snacks, drinks and sweets, a little expensive but it's normal. It's allowed to bring drinks and food from outside as long as it's not a whole picnic for a regiment.
Michaël — Google review
DO NOT BOTHER!!!!! Awful! This ride closed. That attraction not working, that one being repaired. Oh! and now we have to shut these for corona.. but you’re already inside so no refund and we don’t care! It’s not our problem! Horrible .. no customer service. Only one or two of the ones that are technically available are operational at any one time and little indication of how long you have to wait for them to open a ride. Then the evacuation and closure of the ball pit and playground five minutes after the kids start finally enjoying themselves due to corona shut down is more than traumatic for a five year old! We requested our money back to be greeted with a flat refusal to refund! Not their problem apparently! What?! They can charge you full price and provide maybe 30% of what they suggest? Totally disgraceful!

an amazing museum! if you’re interested in fashion, this is a must see spot for antwerp. the current masquerade and makeup exhibition is huge and incredibly well done. make sure to check out the stupid show too! only 8€ for those under 26. there is a great gift shop too!

It was my first visit to a museum related to fashion. I found that people in Antwerpen are very fashionable, so I visited this museum. A receptionist welcomed me so kindly. Building design is very modern and nice, locker is free, toilet is clean, cafe and merchandise shop are so good. I watched two exhibitions, permanent and temporary. Both of them were worthy seeing. Exhibition is not that big, so there was no museum fatigue. It was such a nice time.
Myunghoon J — Google review
The ticket bracelet in recylced tissu is a very nice and "fashion" way The exposition related to Plais Stocklet is impressive, the thought of art creation in a whole, not only the clothing, and every item revolving around the particular design and theme, whole integration thinking!
Peter L — Google review
A bit pricey at €8, especially since the permanent collection includes fewer than 50 garments with only light descriptions—mostly just the designer names for each piece. I would’ve loved to see more interpretation and context. The on-site screening film was good—informative, I learned a lot about the Antwerp Six!
Angel H — Google review
Such a cool museum, the permanent exhibit about the Antwerp 6 was super interesting and exciting. The staff were very friendly and helpful!
Catherine M — Google review
We visited yesterday and I found the permanent exhibition disappointing. Very few actual exhibits and the rest on video. Quite hard to read the captions on the wall opposite the exhibits thanks to the dim lighting and small , narrowly spaced print. As with many museums these days, a bit of a triumph of style over content. There is unfortunately no temporary exhibition at the moment with which to compare the permanent one.
Richard W — Google review
MoMu, Antwerp's Fashion Museum, offers a captivating exploration of fashion's past, present, and future. The friendly staff was happy to answer my questions and explain the layout, which includes a temporary exhibition space, a permanent collection, a cafe, a shop, lockers, and restrooms downstairs. During my visit, the temporary exhibition delved into the world of Congolese artist Baloji, drawing inspiration from his film "Augere." It was a fascinating blend of cultures and a testament to Baloji's artistic talents across various disciplines. The permanent exhibition is a treasure trove of fashion, showcasing iconic pieces from renowned designers. The displays go beyond just the clothing, providing insights into the designers' creative processes. Some pieces were strikingly bold, while others showcased a more subtle brilliance in design. The museum's popularity was evident by the steady stream of visitors browsing the various exhibits. MoMu is a must-visit for any fashion enthusiast or anyone curious about the artistry and inspiration behind clothing.

Established in 1825, this lush oasis spans just under one hectare and has a rich history as it transitioned from a herb garden for the nearby Saint Elisabeth hospital to its current role as a cherished green space.
Relaxing tiny oasis with precious exotic plants and trees, well kept and with intersting explanation boards. Next to a snack-bar with terrace and beautiful 5* hotel in a renovated antique building. The whole area is worth a visit. The nice weather allowed for some figs to grow, and if September will be nice, they may even ripen. Nice benches to sit around. No entrance fee.

Nice park in the south of Antwerp (maybe 20min from the city center). Nice lake in the middle with a dedicated space to take some nice pictures of the different birds. Be careful the ground might be really muddy so better check the weather forecast.
Fredo J — Google review
Very nice to walk, routes well indicated. There are areas with cows grazing so they can be in the way, fun. There are a couple of ponds where it's easy to spot birds and mosquitoes.
Manu V — Google review
Looved this place. Saw it on the map and kept postponing visiting it, once I got there I kind of regrettee going, but as I went deeper it got better. We even saw the cows. But the best view was yet to come. The schelde river was amazing. Good place to relax and for a light hike. Still haven't seen all of it though. Cannot wait to go back
Maisa F — Google review
Very nice location, close to the city. Not really big, good for a short walk in the nature.
Juste V — Google review
Amazing nature! Very large domain, galloway cows grazing, a view on the Scheldt, it's all there!

Hiking area
Park van Brasschaat is a lovely playground located just outside of Antwerp, about a 20-minute drive away. It offers various playground equipment for kids and features a deer meadow where visitors can observe deer and goats. During the summer, an ice cream cart is available in the park. The open-air fields provide space for games, while the view of the castle adds to the park's charm.
What a beautiful park this is. There are a few open air fields without trees which makes it possible for people and kids to play games. The view on the castle is just magnificent and gives the park a completely different dimension. Took the opportunity to fly my drone here as there are not so many places in the neighborhood. Unfortunately the military service at the Fort in the neighborhood made it only possible to fly 50m far and 30m high. Would be nice to fly higher here in this beautiful surrounding! Also good to see that this park is wheelchair accessible!

Fenrir — Google review
This park is beautiful, you can walk your dog around the fountains, take your children to the playground, play football with your friends, take your girlfriend to the lake to have a beautiful picnic, go to the indoor swimming pool or ride the paddleboats on the lake!

24Doel

Mentioned on

Doel, a subdivision of Beveren in East Flanders, Belgium, sits near the Scheldt river in the Waasland polder. Despite plans to extend the Port of Antwerp into Doel and demolish the village since 1965, protests have stalled these efforts. Visiting Doel offers a unique experience amidst a dystopian landscape. It's an opportunity to explore beyond traditional parks and immerse yourself in an unconventional setting that reflects the challenges of modern times.

Park
The Boekenbergpark is a nice park with a free outdoor swimming pool. The park is also an open air swimming lake/pool and playground for kids. It's peaceful and quiet, but can get crowded in high season.
This park is a fantastic destination for families and nature lovers. It offers a wide range of activities that make it ideal for both relaxation and recreation. One of the main highlights is the swimming pool, which is perfect for cooling off during warm days. Whether you’re looking to take a refreshing dip or just relax by the water, the pool adds a great dimension to the park’s overall appeal. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the park’s rich biodiversity. It’s home to a variety of bird species, making it an excellent spot for birdwatching. You can often hear the calls of different birds and see them perched in the trees or flying overhead. The presence of turtles adds to the charm—these peaceful creatures can be spotted in the park’s ponds or basking in the sun, offering a unique experience for children and adults alike. The park is spacious and well-maintained, with plenty of green areas for picnics, games, or simply enjoying the outdoors. With safe walking paths, shaded benches, and designated play areas, it’s especially suitable for families with young children. Overall, this park combines leisure, nature, and fun, making it a great spot to spend quality time in a peaceful environment.
Ammar A — Google review
The park has quite a few features, comprising the bottom of what was once a Chinese pagoda (folly), a ruin tower with it's bridge and a cute white iron bridge, and paths. There's a pond for swimming (!) and a contemporary architecture. It is clearly an English style garden/park, but it is also overgrown in parts and there were a lot of insects everywhere, probably especially because I was there after a muddy couple of days. It just seemed to me that it could be better looked after.
Giulia — Google review
The park close to Antwerp-Berchem is very beautiful with lot of trails to walk, ample of water bodies, ruins of a very old fort and most remarkably one of the largest ecologist swimming pool which is just amazing ! In summer it is a total joy to swim there . Due to summer it can get crowded and hence the authorities decide the time slot and sends 40 ( exact number not known) people’s batch at a time and once they return regulated time slot others should await their turn. Showers, toilettera , locker facilities are available . Pool is guarded by guards/rescue squad . Surrounding of pool are green and open air concept makes it beautiful . This pool is free except that you pay 2 euro for a locker which I think is refundable like normal locker system . I did not use locker .

Very fresh and besy place in Antwerp to swim for free in nature. Don’t forget to take swimming shorts ( the tight one) otherwise there is automatic machine you can buy it for 16 euros
Emran M — Google review
Lovely spot but can get crowded rather quickly. The open air swimming spot is capped at 150 people which is more than enough yet busy too for the size. Medium sized park in general.
Roeland H — Google review
The open air pool has all the same infrastructure as the other public seimming pools, which makes it much more comfortable. Loved it!

Great swim, helpful and friendly staff. Just over the bridge they have ice cream and also a bar pavillion.

My favorite place to relax, but living near it might be one of the main reasons. It's super accessible for anyone, nice things to see and learn, and enough for kids too. There is a small animal farm which offers some workshops and you can drink or eat something there.

(Translated by Google) The Hof ter Mick is a former castle near the town of Maria-ter-Heide, which is part of the Antwerp municipality of Brasschaat, located at Mikhof 9. The castle was built in 1785 according to a design by Barnabé Guimard. In 1830 it was enlarged. In 1871 a fire broke out, after which the castle was rebuilt on behalf of the then owner, belonging to the Della Faille de Leverghem family. Eventually the castle became a convalescent home. In 1830, a large part of the surrounding park was laid out, designed by Charles-Henri Petersen, in the English landscape style. The park measures 37 hectares and also includes an arboretum. The American oak was first planted here in Belgium in 1803 (when Belgium did not yet exist). The castle has a U-shaped plan and was built in neoclassical style with Italian and Renaissance influences. The bridge and entrance gate date from 1830 and were built in neo-Gothic style. The gate is said to be a copy of the Porte d'Auron in Bourges.
