Faulkner Park in Tyler, Texas is a popular destination for outdoor activities and relaxation. The park features an expansive tennis complex with eight courts available for public use. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a fishing pond, baseball field, playground, and splash pad. Cyclists can explore over eight miles of trails suitable for beginners, while nature enthusiasts can take leisurely strolls along the verdant Nature Trail. It's a nice park. We had lots of fun. My husband and I took our two grand kids we played on the splash pad and the park. We walked the trails and they had lots of fun exploring!
Teresa M — Google review
This was my first time to go and visit this park. I was entitled for a day and a 1/2 and I needed to go for a walk and I found this one to be close to where I was staying. There is plenty of parking at the entrance and a beautiful little bridge starting the path. There are 2 main paths for the walkers assured in the long and several other paths for mountain bikers. It is a beautiful area with well maintained paths and lots of signs to help you walk around. The only complaint I had about it was that he was short. I went around the short loop and the long loop twice and that took me less than 40 minutes. It is nice for short walks but for long walks it will get boy and pretty quickly.
Erastos E — Google review
Was visiting Tyler and brought my dogs here for a 1 mile hike. The trails are in good shape, obviously well maintained. I was wishing that I'd brought my mountain bike, as they are allowed as well. Perhaps next time. Incidentally, leashes are required for pets, and if you're doing more than a mile, you might bring along some water as well.
Howard W — Google review
I always bring my mountain bike when I come to Tyler so I can ride this trail. I love it!! Nice little XC trail, not really hard, but not boring at all! The park is pretty and well maintained. Good place to walk your dog , seems really safe too.
Julie M — Google review
Had a fun time @ the Faulkner Park Splash Pad. Only 3-Stars because the water system was consistently malfunctioning. The park had maintenance out to try and fix the problem, but it continued throughout the time we were there from around 11ish am to about 12:15ish. But, the playground was fun. Park, playground, & splash pad were well kept and very clean.
Justin M — Google review
First time going to Faulkner Park and had a good experience! The splash pad could use some maintenance on some of its features but overall it was very nice! Love that all of the picnic tables are covered and the park was very clean!!
Shelley G — Google review
My favorite park in Tyler. It has shirt walks in the woods to the pond, or you can spend hours on the larger trail. Walkers and bikers are always nice and courteous on the trails. I've seen deer, rabbit, squirrel, ducks, and armadillos.

I love being able to take my 3 year old son , and everyone is inclusive, observant, and respectful 🥰🥰 I'm almost 30, but I haven't skated since I was about 14. This is a great place to be nostalgic 🤣

What a beautiful park! Stop here while driving the azalea trail!

This little park is a gem! We stop here with our kids every time we drive through Tyler. With its creek, waterfalls, and statues specifically in honor and memory of children, it is a beautiful and bittersweet tribute to all children everywhere.
Katie J — Google review
What a beautiful find. This was a lovely little park. It was definitely great to get out and walk around after driving through the azalea trail. Loved all of the critters, rock water falls, the statues especially the teddy bears. Check them out.
Maria R — Google review
This is a wonderful place created for children. Is also pleasant for us adults. It is very thoughtfully created. If you get a chance to take your children, they will love it. I highly recommend this park. This park was created with lots of love, you can feel it.
Sonya M — Google review
Beautiful small park for kids. Many animal statues and decorated with the holiday light at this moment. Wondering it's gonna be pretty in the night, but we were just passing by. They have Allison's house for event (for rent).
Vera — Google review
Nice little park with paved walkways an little river running through it. Two waterfalls and some sculptures or children playing. This park is a memorial park for children who have been taken too soon. It has trees planted in memory of, scultures in memory of and even animal sculptures in memory of. The animal sculptures are kid friendly and kids can play on them. There are 2 gender nuetral restrooms that were clean but out of paper towels. This is a nice park to take a 30 minute break or to go read a book or even sit and reflect on life.

Bergfeld Park in Tyler, Texas is a charming neighborhood park that offers various amenities for all to enjoy. The park features a playground, tennis courts, and an amphitheater which hosts events and movie nights. Situated at the heart of town, this beautiful park provides ample space for everyone. A well-maintained walking trail allows visitors to appreciate the surroundings while the shaded areas offer respite from the sun.
Very nice and well kept park. We went for the Easter gathering there and it was plenty of fun. Lots of vendors and some good food. The egg grab was CRAZY but fun for the kiddos all around. Good bathrooms and playground. Nice area of Tyler.
Robert H — Google review
Great park! I have been going there since I was a kid, and now I bring my nephews. The playground has lots of options for young children through teens. The splash pad is pretty basic, but is clean and the kids enjoy it. There are plenty of shaded spots to sit and enjoy a picnic. Plenty of free space to throw a ball or relax on a blanket. The only drawbavk can be limited street parking. Other than that, highly recommend!
Taralyn A — Google review
Bergfeld Park in Tyler, TX is a beautiful, family-friendly spot that’s perfect year-round. It has clean restrooms, a large playground, splash pad, picnic areas, tennis courts, and walking trails. Yes, it's dog-friendly (on leash), open daily, and free to visit. There’s plenty of parking. Whether for a stroll, event, or playtime. this park is a local favorite!
Evergreen R — Google review
Flying my flag at Bergfeld. It’s a great location for a potluck picnic in the park with my polyamory peeps. #weekofvisibility
Andria F — Google review
Nice sidewalk around park to walk. Area to play tennis, 2 playgrounds (1 for younger kids, 1 for older), and love the splash pad. Beautiful grass area to stroll athough. I have noticed on a few occasions several homeless people there and police officers talking to people. Overall is a family friendly area.
Robin S — Google review
I recently visited Bergfeld Park, a place I've cherished since childhood, and it was just as wonderful as I remember, now bringing my nephews along for the fun. This park truly is a gem, offering something for everyone. The playground facilities are fantastic, with a wide array of options that cater to both young children and teenagers, ensuring endless entertainment. The splash pad, while basic, is clean and provides a refreshing escape that the kids absolutely adore. One of the best aspects of Bergfeld Park is the abundance of shaded spots, perfect for enjoying a leisurely picnic or simply relaxing on a blanket. There's also plenty of open green space for throwing a ball around or just letting the kids run free. The park is incredibly well-kept and clean, which makes for a very pleasant experience. I noticed a nice sidewalk loop around the park, ideal for a stroll or a walk. It's a great location for community gatherings, as evidenced by past events like Easter celebrations with vendors and food. While street parking can sometimes be limited, it's a minor drawback compared to the overall positive experience. Despite occasionally seeing police officers interacting with individuals, the park maintains a family-friendly atmosphere. Overall, Bergfeld Park remains a highly recommended spot for its diverse amenities, beautiful upkeep, and welcoming environment.
Max M — Google review
This is a beautiful park nestled in the center of town. It's got plenty of room for everyone. Walking trail is great, amphitheater is always fun for the kids to play on and great for events. Splash pad is a wonderful newer addition! Love this park! Also love how shaded it is.
Gaby P — Google review
We love Bergfeld Park. It’s got a fantastic place for the kids to play. Plenty of space for picnics and a new small splash pad. The park is smack dab in the middle of the Azalea District and it’s always having a fun event, craft fair, kids day, race or evening family movie night. This weekend they had a little craft bizarre and there was something for the whole family. There is also a ton of picnic tables and beautiful large oaks for shade.

It is committed to wildlife preservation through educational programs and conservation efforts. We had the best day at this zoo! They’ve recently done a huge expansion, and everything looks incredible—so much space and thoughtful details everywhere. The animals all seem really well cared for, and the beautiful landscaping makes it such a peaceful place to explore. There are plenty of shady spots to sit and relax, plus easy access to snacks and drinks along the way. The interactive exhibits were a fun touch, and the staff was genuinely kind and helpful. Such a nice, easy place to spend the day!
Heather L — Google review
Excellent day with grand baby! You can get up close to Pink Flamingos, turtles, eagles, giraffes, etc. take your walking shoes! There are hills and and the trail around is not short. Pack waters and snacks and make a day of it!
Christi B — Google review
This zoo was so much fun! The animals, the environment and atmosphere, the family friendliness, everything. This is a great trip with a variety of different animals, went with some family and would return again!
Shane G — Google review
I remembered the zoo 20 plus years ago when I was deciding to be a zookeeper for a living. I remembered the big Savannah area where the elephants, the giraffes, antelope and lions were all separated by moats, but in this vast area where you can see them all. I never forgot that, although I didn't remember much else from the zoo so stopping by 20 years later still had some nice surprises. The zoo is separated into three sections currently, there's an Amazon area which is new, North American and African. Even though it's a small to medium-sized Zoo they've got some good quality animals in there including white tigers, jaguars, bobcats, pumas, bald eagles, some beautiful birds, bison and a longhorn. Definitely fun for the whole family they have a great Cafe area that overlooks the savannah. You can feed the giraffes and their gift shop is a very nice stop on your way out. It was great seeing it again.
Andrea K — Google review
Great zoo with plenty of large and small animals. The grounds were kept nice with landscaping. I’ve brought my children here since they were young and took my grandbabies more recently. We will definitely be back!
Melissa H — Google review
Time and money well spent. Took the family to the Caldwell Zoo (have not been in years) and was pleasantly surprised! The place is beautiful, tree covered, well kept and the price is very reasonable. It was Boo at the Zoo! And they went all out!
Trevor M — Google review
The Caldwell zoo went beyond my expectations and was quite enjoyable. Many of the paths were well shaded and I appreciated that the zoo layout had many resting points throughout, many of which allowed for viewing of the animals. It took us about 2 hours to view the entire zoo. I will say that I feel the pricing is a touch high, with pricing being on par with the larger Dallas and Ft. Worth zoos. They do offer an impressive military discount, however.
Tiffany B — Google review
Love this zoo its not to big to where you cant see everything in a day. There are several frozen treat stations through out the trails which was perfect to keep the kids cool. We took our time, got food, fed the giraffes and it took us about 3 hours to experience everything

Garden
Nature & Parks
The Tyler Rose Garden is a stunning, expansive public park spanning 14 acres. It boasts over 38,000 rose bushes as well as various other types of flowers and plants. The garden features fountains, gazebos, and walking paths that are perfect for enjoying the peaceful atmosphere while observing the butterflies and birds. Although entry to the garden is free, voluntary contributions are welcomed.
Walked through the gardens the last weekend in April, and there were still plenty of blooms showing their colors. This park is easily walkable with levels paths throughout for strollers and wheelchairs. There are many quiet spots for meditation and admiration, or a private conversation. I was disappointed that many of the rose signs were not displayed, as it does help to determine which varieties to plant in your home garden when coming here. It did not deter my enjoyment of the gardens.
Aqua — Google review
It definitely was an absolute delight at the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden! The sun was shining, and the roses were blooming beautifully. I spent the day capturing the vibrant colors and intricate details of the thousands of rose bushes and over 300 varieties of roses on camera. As I wandered through the 14-acre garden, I snapped photos of the Idea Garden, Heritage Garden, and the stunning camellia and day lily collections. The soft, natural light was perfect for photography, and I tried to make the most of it by experimenting with different angles and compositions. Some of my favorite shots were taken during the golden hour, when the warm light added a magical touch to the already breathtaking flowers. I also played around with backlighting, trying to capture the delicate petals and intricate details of the roses. The Tyler Municipal Rose Garden is truly a photographer's paradise, and I couldn't wait to share my photos with friends and family. If you're a rose enthusiast or photography buff, this garden is definitely worth visiting
Michael G — Google review
We visited late this summer, so the roses were no longer in full bloom but it was still beautiful! The museum was quaint but really cool! I was born and raised in Texas and knew the gardens existed but didn't know the history. Can't wait to go back next year when the roses start blooming!
Jessica T — Google review
This 14 acrose garden is stunning. I went at the end of April and all the flowers were in Bloom. They have areas where you can have wedding ceremonies very peaceful. Lots of trees for shade. Dog friendly green grass. Recommend visiting. the only thing that I would recommend to the center is more identification of the roses
Liza S — Google review
When I went, all of the roses were no longer in bloom, but there were still some. I would still recommend visiting, nice walk throughout the grounds. Other things to see that are in full-bloom, a lot of nature buzzing and flying around. Plenty of sitting spots to take it all in and just relax for a few. Before exiting would highly recommend a donation to keep up the grounds is probably quite expensive.
Barbara H — Google review
Tyler Rose Garden is well worth a visit. Not only are the myriad of beds full of roses spectacular, but the whole layout of the serene gardens is tranquility at another level. Unfortunately, we were visiting a few weeks after the peak season, hence the four rating.
Gerrie D — Google review
Lots, and lots of roses. The garden itself is free, just walk straight through doors to other side. There is a charge for museum inside. In the garden, there are walking trails, fountains, gazebos, a bridge, paragodas, and a pool of water. There are various benches to sit and enjoy the view. There are steps down to the garden, and I notice the handicap elevator was roped off for maintenance.
Rachel L — Google review
This is a well-kept Rose Garden with walking trails. There are several staircases, so if you are traveling with someone elderly or have difficulty managing stairs, please be aware. Otherwise, this is a beautiful location to just appreciate the joy of being outdoors around beautiful flowers. They do have a small museum on sight, and there is a small entrance fee. My sister-in-law really enjoyed seeing all the elaborate gowns worn by the Rose Queens & the Ladies in Waiting. This is a family-friendly place, and they seem to have space for rent for events.

Nature preserve
Southside Park is a well-maintained green space that offers a variety of amenities for visitors. It features wooded walking and cycling trails, a large playground with separate areas for different age groups, picnic facilities, basketball courts, and baseball fields. The park's lush green spaces make it popular among nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. Recent updates include the addition of gates around the perimeter to enhance safety and prevent children from wandering off towards the creek or interfering with trail users.
I took my 2 year old grandson to Southside Park while visiting Tyler. We played and played. Such a fun, beautiful, and well maintained park. There are plenty of play scapes for all ages. Partial fencing keeps the little ones safe and creates boundaries while exploring.
Melanie K — Google review
Love this park so much, always clean and well maintained. The playgrounds are large and safe. Bathrooms are clean and stocked and there are water fountains near play areas. Amenities include, playground, swingsets for all ages and are handicap accessible, basketball court, pavilion, and trails.
East R — Google review
This is hands-down the best park I have ever been to in my life. The whole playground is put together in a way where your kid can go from a play structure to the swings to the bathrooms… And they are all right there where you can see and you’re very close by. I also noticed that this park was designed with people with disabilities in mind. There’s a wheelchair accessible structure along with a couple of swings and there’s also changing tables in the bathrooms to accommodate adults. The ground in the playground area is the poured tar that hardens so if you have babies or small toddlers you don’t have to worry about putting them on the ground and then finding as much to put in their mouths which was awesome because my baby could actually get out of the stroller and crawl around!
Hailey W — Google review
This park is great! My friend in a wheelchair could enjoy it, too. I love the xylophones. They have great playground equipment. It's pretty well shaded in a beautiful park setting. There's a basketball court, a covered picnic area, benches around the area, 2 private bathrooms. I think they have a fountain to fill waterbottles, last I saw.
JoyBird — Google review
Very clean & play equipment is perfect! & Beautiful scenery.. kids love it!

We were visiting from out of town, staying about 20 minutes away. I have 2 daughters and one with special needs, and I was so grateful for this park! She doesn’t like crowds so we went after dark and it was well lit, and very inclusive with all the equipment. She loved it!
Naomi M — Google review
Great spacious park! Even has a basketball court! They even had an area to play soccer and I think there was a trail too for biking/jogging

Lindsey Park is a picturesque outdoor complex located by Lake Tyler, offering a variety of recreational activities and natural beauty. The park boasts multiple soccer and softball fields, playgrounds, and picnic areas for visitors to enjoy quality time outdoors. Additionally, it features three 18-hole disc golf courses and 10 miles of biking, hiking, and walking trails. With breathtaking views of the water and well-maintained facilities, Lindsey Park provides an ideal setting for sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
I really love to go here hiking! I love that there is a really long bridge in the woods. Everyone seems really nice when I'm family comes.
Sarah R — Google review
First time playing here. Nice course with a variety of shots. Finding the next tee box can be a challenge. Lots of fire ants.
Paul S — Google review
I’ve gone three times and can’t find the bike trail with the bridge, the park is large I’ve only been able to find the disc golf, but on Google review there is bridges and ponds. I wish the park had trail signs or something to tell me where the main trail is. Park is amazing for Fireworks on the fourth, the city has a Fourth of July festival.
Dulce Q — Google review
This park has the best MTB (mountain bike) trails in the Tyler area, as far as I'm aware. It's a beautiful ride, with plenty of trails for beginner and intermediate riders. My favorite feature is a boardwalk that stretches over a beautiful marsh. Other than that, there are plenty of good berms, jumps, and other fun features to try out.
Tavian W — Google review
It's a great trail, but if you're not local the signage is confusing at best. The sign at the trailhead does not match what is on the trail itself. The main sign is color-coded, but once out there all you see is "race loop" and "main loop" not the colors you looked at before going in.
Samantha B — Google review
I love this park and have been visiting it for nearly 2 decades. It has probably the most comprehensive Disc Golf set up in Texas, and better than most any other state. There are 15+ miles of heavily wooded running and mtn biking trails. The scenery is beautiful, the park is well kept and I absolutely love it. There are also extremely nice ball fields, soccer fields and basketball. The only shortcoming may be the tiny kids play area.
Johnny I — Google review
Its an amazing complex! Restrooms nice, clean, and well supplied. Multiple portapotties available at each field located away from the restrooms. Fields were well maintained, marked, and without holes or stickers! There were plenty of concessions available during the tournament also! Everything was well organized and easy access.
Angela A — Google review
The soccer fields are very well kept. There is a concession stand and restrooms. The parking is inadequate for the number of people attending the soccer games.

Nestled in Tyler, Texas, the Discovery Science Place is a treasure trove of interactive learning and exploration for children of all ages. Since its establishment in 1993, this vibrant museum has been dedicated to sparking curiosity through hands-on experiences. Visitors can explore three expansive halls filled with captivating exhibits like a man-made cave featuring an earthquake simulator, a mock television station complete with working cameras, and even live animals such as iguanas.
100 ⭐'s There are not enough amazing things I can say about this place. It's been far too long since I have felt satisfied with the money spent on an activity with my children. The staff were absolutely amazing!!! The ones that I spoke to and the ones who disappeared into the background and we're hardly noticed. Coming back to an area my child wanted to visit again and having a fresh clean slate to play with was the most awesome thing ever. I look forward to returning again and again. Thank you for such an amazing day with my family. I love you guys!! My kids loved the TV studio and the restaurant.
Tx_Rebel S — Google review
We had a great visit to the museum. Our kids are a little older (11-12, 22 and 45 🤣). But we enjoyed the museum. They really liked the interactive displays, as well as the little mining ramp at the start of the building. We were disappointed however at the “Egyptian” display that was supposed to be out. It lacked and the kids were bored with the small amount. Overall though we enjoyed the activities and would recommend it especially to those who have smaller children.
Nicole G — Google review
I am visiting my mom in Gladewater so I decided to bring my two boys here. It a very fun filled museum! Lots of activities for all ages. Here are things you should know if your planning to visit 1. Time. There is SO much to do, I could have spent about 2 more hours here 2. Space. It’s not a lot of space. Don’t bring a stroller in if you can help it, parking is limited. 3. Beware. When I visited there were several “field trips” going on at once. It really overloaded the place. But it didn’t deter me from going back. My kids really enjoy it.
Galila A — Google review
Pretty fun place! We havent been since my oldest was 2. Now ive got 3 kiddos and they had so much fun. We aren't from around here, but when we pass through its a great stop for family fun. Or educational activity to pass the time. They have made several improvements and updates in the past 5 years which was cool to see!

The Historical Aviation Memorial Museum, situated at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport, offers a captivating journey through aviation history. Housed in the former terminal building, it boasts an extensive collection of exhibits, aircraft, and memorabilia. The museum's highlight is its WWII planes exhibition, providing a unique historical experience for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs. With tens of thousands of items in its archives and outside displays of restored aircraft, the museum also features a gift shop, library, multimedia theater room, and educational programs.
We had never heard of this museum until the day we went, and we are so glad we went! They have so many pieces of memorabilia from WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and more. There were a bunch of planes outside on the runway that we were able to see up close. Mike was very knowledgeable and taught us so many new things we didn’t know. Highly recommend!

We had the most phenomenal tour with Rick, retired USAF and aeronautical engineer! Extraordinary wartime stories paired with historical paraphernalia and retired planes. This museum (and its staff) is a Tyler gem! Our kids (10-14) enjoyed the visit as much as the adults. Highly recommend.

A Must-Visit Gem for Aviation Enthusiasts and History Buffs Alike! The Historic Aviation Memorial Museum in Tyler, TX, is truly a hidden treasure for anyone with an interest in aviation, military history, or just a love for learning. This museum offers a deep and insightful look into the evolution of aviation—from its early beginnings to the powerful, fine-tuned aircraft we see today. It’s incredible to see how aviation has shaped our world, especially through the lens of its role in different wars and the individuals who made history in the skies. One of the most meaningful aspects of the museum is how it honors the countless patriotic men and women who have served in both military and civilian aviation. Each display and aircraft tells a story, and you can really feel the respect and dedication behind the preservation of these historical pieces. Now, if you’re planning a visit—do yourself a favor and ask for Tommy as your tour guide. Even on the blazing hot July day we visited, standing in the sun was absolutely worth it to hear Tommy speak. His knowledge is unmatched, and his passion is contagious. He brought every aircraft and exhibit to life with fascinating facts, personal stories, and a great sense of humor that kept us engaged from start to finish. We genuinely left the museum feeling more informed, inspired, and grateful. Tommy, you were the highlight of our visit—thank you for making the experience so memorable! Whether you're a lifelong aviation buff or just curious about history, the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum is well worth your time. Don’t miss it!

From Tyler Rose Garden we stop by the Historical Aviation Memorial Museum. What a great museum. Lots of unknown facts. Both were super knowledgeable and you can see the passion in their eyes and hear the excitement in their voice. Great experience that I will repeat in the future! Go and visit if you never been there. I will recommend.

Great experience!! There was so much history, so many displays and the aircrafts outside were incredible. Whether you're an aviation expert or just someone that enjoys history, the HAMM is a great place to check out. Mr. Mike guided us on a +/- 1 hour tour where he thoroughly explained the evolution of the engines as well as the history of each aircraft that was on display. Will definitely be returning!

What an amazing experience, HIGHLY recommend! I took a group of middle school students on a field trip to HAMM in Tyler, TX and they absolutely loved it! We saw planes take off and land in real time. We learned so much history and culture in a short amount of time. Bonus, our amazing guides were engaging and Spanish-speaking. Aviation offers so many careers and different opportunities for our upcoming youth! Thank you HAMM for the new knowledge and exposure! We WILL be back!

Beautiful, clear, sunny day, 1/13/22, and a superb personal guided tour by Michel H. Michael was a walking encyclopedia of info about each of the aircraft and then some. A true gem of a find that not only had a fantastic collection of planes and helicopters, but an indoor museum and restaurant to round out a great stop to learn our history.
Austin S — Google review
This museum is a gem! It contains a surprisingly large collection of aviation artifacts, including photos, uniforms, and print materials. The docents (many retired military) are very knowledgeable about the aircraft, including the engineering aspects. It is a fantastic place for children and adults alike.

I was working out at planet fitness and I have forgot that there was a art exhibition of African American heritage! I rode my bike here and I witness something very special and personal! I forgot that Tyler had a museum of art and I am glad I came I will be coming in member very soon but this is on the campus of TJC c and it is close to wagstaff gymnasium right across the street. You can access the museum of art via the green line and yellow line. It is a very little gym hidden away here in Tyler!. They have varying programs and showcases of different art from around the world!
Carlos L — Google review
If you think art museums are just quiet halls filled with snooty people nodding at paintings, think again. The Tyler Museum of Art is where culture collides with chaos, and I found myself in the middle of what can only be described as a Michelangelo-meets-action-movie fever dream. It all started when I innocently walked in, expecting a relaxing afternoon of refined appreciation for local and international masterpieces. The first few exhibits were breathtaking—paintings so detailed they looked like they could whisper their secrets to you if you stared long enough. But then, everything took a turn. A tour guide was explaining a massive abstract piece called The Emotional Hurricane when suddenly, an elderly woman gasped and clutched her pearls. “That’s it!” she cried. “That’s the exact shade of blue my late husband’s Buick was!” The sheer emotional weight of the moment caused a chain reaction—someone else started crying, another person dramatically fell to their knees, and within minutes, the entire gallery was in an art-induced frenzy. Meanwhile, in another room, a group of students on a field trip had somehow convinced themselves that a particularly well-painted fruit still life was actually a portal to another dimension. They took turns waving their hands in front of it, waiting for their fingers to get sucked into the void. The docent tried to explain that it was just really good shading, but they weren’t having it. The climax of my visit happened near the sculpture exhibit, where a man in a cowboy hat became so overcome with artistic passion that he attempted to hug a marble bust of a 19th-century businessman. Security intervened just in time, but not before he shouted, “This statue understands me!” before being gently escorted outside. By the time I left, I had experienced every human emotion possible—joy, awe, confusion, and the undeniable urge to paint something even though I have the artistic talent of a soggy napkin. Final verdict? The Tyler Museum of Art isn’t just a museum—it’s a thrilling, unpredictable, emotion-powered rollercoaster wrapped in an elegant, well-lit package. You might go for the paintings, but you’ll stay for the art-inspired meltdowns and reality-bending fruit bowls.

Great little park with a restroom and trash cans scattered about.. as a cute red box for 'leave a book take a book'.. lots of shady tree areas for picnics (full-on ground sitting with some breeze), there are tables and benches too. Large play gym for the kids.. with lots of slides, a climbing wall, wiggle bridge, slide pole, and ladder. Climbable merry-go-round. Small swing area w 4 swings (2 big kid seats 2 toddler seats) There is enough field for both soccer and American football w goal and bleachers. Edit: restrooms were locked when we visited the park 9/6 at 1pm .. shame we left early bc of it

This park is well shaded, with picnic tables, benches, and restrooms. There is one playground structure which my kids (6 and 4 yo) really enjoyed. Also a tall cone shaped climbable carousel. The park is located by a huge field which is perfect for picnics, birthday parties, ball games, or walking a dog.

We played pickleball a few times at Pollard over the Christmas break. Lots of families and kids playing. The courts are a great addition to the park. Unfortunately the courts were not built to last. The courts have all sorts of ridges and slopes on them, making them somewhat dangerous to play on them. We also hit up the playground while there one of the days. Kids enjoyed it. They really liked the informative signs.

Visitors can enjoy amenities such as walking paths, a basketball court, picnic tables, a playground, an outdoor workout area, and covered picnic areas. Recent updates have enhanced the park's appeal and cleanliness.
Very clean, maintained park. The playground has an area for babies and a basketball court. They also have bike ramps and very clean bathrooms, the trails circle around the entire park and the trail is mostly shaded! I come here every week to walk. One other amenity is the exercise area, it is clean and the park is never crowded.

Coolest park, has a workout spot for adults, a small bike trail for kids, and playground. Basketball hoops, I didn’t see the large ramps someone said they were removed, bummer they should have kept both. It also has a little trail around the park, will be back

Only came here once. They have a really nice long trail to walk. But only go during sunlight, because half of the lights don't even work. But if the lights worked, it would be an amazing park sunshine or sunset

This is a lovely quiet park! It is nestled in a neighborhood and is shaded with older pine trees! There are walking paths, basketball court, picnic tables throughout as well as a picnic pavilion and a large open field with frisbee golf and a bike obstacle course. The bathrooms are very clean, and there are two working water fountains with cold water!
Elizabeth W — Google review
It's a fairly nice park with a cool bike course but we came after dark and none of the lights were on, the sidewalks were really nice and well taken care of and the restroom was fairly clean. We didn't stay long because we thought there was a skate park but it got removed so we left after not too long.
SkillNinjaGamer Y — Google review
The park is more newly redone, the bike park is awesome looking if you do that, they have disc golf and nice long concrete walking paths, playground is newish and in shade so is prob nice in summer, workout area and. Deplorable that the county left the disgusting graffiti all over near the bathrooms and shame on whoever did that filth. No toilet paper on one set of bathrooms (why counties put single roll dispensers is beyond me) and the other restrooms were locked. Sharp bend in the road in the neighborhood before the park which really should be a 3 way stop bc is sketch the way that road and curve is, I imagine that will be a problem one day soon. If in area though, nice park.
Learnin H — Google review
We were at Peltier Subaru this Saturday and drove down to the end of the road to discover this nice little park. Not having time to spend there that day we decided to make some time today to go back. At a glance, it appears nice and newer. As my family and I made our way into the park we discovered the facilities have been tagged with obscenities and the nicer bathrooms are locked up. The bike course looks awesome. The play ground is nice but has also been vandalized. A group of men playing basketball at the courts became violent and wound up jumping one of the players while we were just yards away at the playground.
Luke P — Google review
We always come to this park for picnic lunches because it is covered in shaded pine tree areas. Plenty of benches and it's always so quiet. This is easily one of my favorite parks in Tyler if we are wanting to just enjoy some quiet time as a family.

Bossart Park is a lovely and spacious park with separate areas for both large and small dogs. The park offers various play areas, including fields for retrieving, and provides a pleasant environment for dogs to socialize and play. Visitors appreciate the efforts of the SPCA in maintaining the park's cleanliness. Despite these minor points, visitors are generally pleased with their experiences at Bossart Park.

Great park split into four fields of play area. Large dogs, small dogs and field retrieving. 3 dogs only for each owner, you need to be able to watch your dogs! Keep on clean and bring your bags. Several fountains for dogs to have a drink and plenty of toys and smells! 🐕‍🦺👍

Bossart Park is usually always a fun experience. There is plenty of room to roam on both the large dog section as well as the smaller dog area. There are also 4-5 benches for the humans and plenty to drink at the watering hole (dog fountain). My only complaint and concern is the stickers. Today I had to remove them from my dogs paws (all of them) several times. My poor dog would be running full speed and then abruptly stop, unable to walk a step further until the thorny stickers were removed. Needless to say this takes all the fun out of going to the park. I really hope this can be corrected as my dogs usually enjoy running and playing there.

Our dogs love this park, and with the multiple large parks separated by alternating days, it always seems to be clean. Couldn't ask for more!

The Legacy Trail in Tyler, Texas is a result of extensive efforts by city leaders and trail supporters to expand the regional biking and hiking trail system. The project was approved in 2016, extending the city's trail system to Gresham. The trails are popular for walking, running, bird watching, and cycling. Visitors appreciate the clean and peaceful environment with shaded paths that provide relief from the summer heat.
It’s short but pleasant. I followed it to an end near Tyler Speakeasy, and then continued on the dirt road to anytime fitness in Flint. Im not sure if there’s anything beyond that, but the pavement area was good and smooth, with plenty of resting spot benches. Lots of shade trees.

Legacy Trail is a well-maintained, paved trail system located in the heart of Tyler, Texas. It stretches for about 4.5 miles and offers a safe, scenic route for walking, running, biking, and even casual skating. The trail winds through wooded areas and open green spaces, with benches, water fountains, and shaded rest spots along the way. Pros: • Smooth, wide asphalt path • Well-marked mile markers • Good lighting for evening use • Pet-friendly with waste stations • Connects several neighborhoods and parks Cons: • Gets busy during peak hours • Limited elevation for those wanting a more challenging workout • Not much variety in scenery on some stretches Final Thoughts: Legacy Trail is a great urban trail for residents and visitors looking to get some fresh air or squeeze in a workout. It’s family-friendly, clean, and accessible, making it one of the better walking/biking spots in East Texas. Not exactly a wilderness hike, but for an in-town escape, it gets the job done.

As a travel enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for new adventures, and this camping season is shaping up to be an exciting one! I've explored several parks before, but now I'm eager to embrace the great outdoors as a new camper. My upcoming trip includes a visit to Inks Lake State Park with friends, where we plan to soak in nature's beauty. Additionally, we'll be stopping by Johnson Creek RV Park in Ingram—perfect for some kayaking fun!

Park
Tyler State Park offers a peaceful setting with a serene pine forest and a picturesque lake. Visitors can enjoy various outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, nature study, fishing, and biking on the available trail. The park is home to diverse wildlife including bold raccoons that may be attracted to food left out. Although the campsites are spacious and well-maintained, some may find the close proximity of the hiking trail less secluded than desired.
We loved our visit to Tyler State Park. The signs were easy to read, there was plenty of parking and the trailheads were easy to find. We hiked a few of the shorter trails and really enjoyed the scenery and wildflowers. We saw a few people fishing, and I believe that you can borrow fishing stuff if you don't have your own. It also looked like a nice place to camp! The facilities were clean as well. I would definitely visit again next time I'm in the area.

This is one of the best state parks we have camped. There are miles of hiking / biking trails with the most beautiful fauna and enormous trees. One of the trails goes around the lake. Although you can swim anywhere in the lake, there is a nice designated swim area with a floating deck. You can picnic in the grass and enjoy a swim. There are also watercraft rentals including kayaks, row boats, and paddle boats. The park store is nearby with a variety of camping items you may have forgotten, drinks, ice cream, and souvenirs. The area is so big and there are many areas to camp. The screened shelters are great. We will definitely return, and highly recommend.

Tyler State Park is such a gem! The park is beautifully maintained with lush greenery, plenty of picnic areas, and a serene lake that’s perfect for relaxing. The $6 entry fee per adult is very reasonable considering how well-kept everything is. I loved the swim area, and the option to rent kayaks and canoes at an affordable price made the visit even better. Great place for a day trip with family or friends – I’d definitely love to come back!

BEAUTIFUL state park!! All the facilities were well taken care of. The trails were well taken care of and the lake was incredibly clear! You could see turtles and fish down in the water! The playground was awesome for the kids. The bathrooms/changing rooms by the swimming area were about what you would expect. Abundance of picnic tables, and they were in good shape too. This place is a little slice of heaven tucked away in the pines!

Great place to bring the loved ones. Shelters, cabins ,tent and RV sites available. Fireflies at night, long hiking trails 200+ species of birds early morning songs sound amazing. Great fishing spot. Our whole stay required no mosquito repellent, wondered if this was because of the 100's of dragonflies or the dense beauty berry bushes located everywhere. Loved our stay here. Park rangers constantly patrolling the area was an absolute plus.
Chiquita L — Google review
I love coming here to paddle board! The water is always clean and the park is well maintained. I haven't got around to the trails yet but definitely plan to when it cools down. The scenery is beautiful and the park is teeming with beautiful birds.

We enjoyed a day pass. This is a beautiful, very well maintained state park. I was in awe of the gorgeous tall pine trees, oak trees and the many other variety of trees and vegetation. The lake was shallow and crystal clear. I could see my feet it was so clear. My kids had the best time jumping off the wooden dock in the lake. The trails, and the rocks and the boulders really stood out. Clean bathrooms/showers. Look forward to going back and renting a shelter or camping in a tent. Staff patrolling the area frequently, impressive etiquette from fellow campers. Happy place!

This park was so beautiful! I was honestly surprised. A well preserved area of Tyler with tall pines and a serene lake. The park itself was very quiet and although we just went for a day, we will definitely come back to camp.

Dory's Garden is a charming oasis nestled in the heart of Tylers historical azaela district. This hidden gem offers an array of unique gifts, stunning pottery, whimsical ironworks, striking fountains, delightful chimes, and of course an exquisite selection of plants. Dory herself is incredibly warm and welcoming. A visit to this garden promises inspiration and boundless joy. And while you're there, don't forget to pay a visit to Dory's beloved hens!
It’s a an earthly delight to walk this path in an endearing garden setting. It’s a slice of heaven. So much beauty can be attained with a little effort and planning. I saw it in practice with my own eyes. The plucky chickens and a dear friendly cat makes a visitor feel like they’re at a happy home with the gracious creator/artist owner.

Always a wonderful experience! My family loves to join me on my nursery trips if I am going to Dorys. Her garden is absolutely beautiful, and you can tell Dory puts her whole heart into her work. She is also one of the most kind people I’ve ever met. I have been going to her garden for about 5 years now and I have never had a complaint. One of my favorite places to visit!

I dropped into Dory’s Gardens during my lunch break and had so much fun! Dory was such a delight—super attentive and very helpful. Her gardens were so much fun to explore! So much creativity, art, and gardening inspiration packed into one spot. Plus, her plant selection was diverse and reasonably priced. Also, the chickens were adorable!!

26Fun Forest Park

City park
Fun Forest Park is a community park that offers a range of activities for visitors. It features an outdoor Olympic pool, splash pad, tennis courts, and a children's playground. The park also has picnic areas, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, and a water sprayground. Visitors can enjoy the affordable pricing and clean facilities at the park. The pool area has attentive lifeguards ensuring the safety of all swimmers. Additionally, there are concession stands available for snacks.
It was so Hot 🔥 🥵 on this day, I could have sworn I seen The 😈 Devil in the corner laughing at me. So, we went on an adventure to Fun Forest! The pool is of decent size, so it accommodates a good number of people. The water was clean and wasn't full of debris. You could tell it was recently vacuumed as well. The "Water Sample" is a kiddy water play ground but, I found myself relaxing in it quite a bit. At the deeper end of the main oasis are two twisty and relatively tall water slides. The kid in me said we're doing this one. Watching the little humans popping out was kind of annoying so I knew an adult would fly outta that thing. I made my way up top, waited for the little dude to swim for safety. BOMBS💣 AWAY! I swung myself into the pipe and made the first bend and picked up speed, the second bend was nuts. I pulled myself into a tight ball laying on my back. The curve put my knee into the wall and I received the worst, vinyl burn in my life. Coming to the opening, I was shot out like a high velocity projectile. 💥 It caused a little commotion, the kids were amazed, the adults were stirred up like the mother hens they are and the lifeguards were floored. Uh, Sir? YOU CAN'T PLAY ANYMORE! Really? No, that was awesome! Skipping bout 15 feet across the water. Good times!
Mike M — Google review
There were about 5 life guards on duty but I was most impressed by the vigilance of the young man working. He waited in front of the slide for each child to come down and made sure they were okay. The female who took his place was more interested in swimming around and talking. The price was super affordable and going on a Sunday was much better than a Saturday crowd wise. Haven't tried anything from the concession stand but it smelled pretty good.

Meisha K — Google review
Great medium sized pool with plenty of fun for the kids. Pool was clean and well managed by the lifeguards.

Most underrated park in Tyler! The playground is great, there is plenty of parking, and there is such a great variety of sports fields open and available to anyone. We’ve been sleeping on Fun Forrest, y’all!

28Emmett J. Scott Park

Park
Emmett J. Scott Park, located near the intersection of Confederate Avenue and West Vance Street, is a charming neighborhood park with tree-shaded areas, a playground, sports fields, and picnic tables. The park has been recently remodeled by the City of Tyler and now features well-maintained play equipment, a basketball/multipurpose court, clean restrooms, and a paved walk/run/jog track around the park.
Pleasantly surprised at how clean the Park was as a whole. GREAT PLACE to bring children, pets, and even a nice setting for an old time(rs) date in the Park. Not a lot of traffic, which makes noise level almost non-existent. Very clean restrooms. Plenty of playground apparatus for children to enjoy. And very nice and wide sidewalks for running or walking. Most importantly, visibility is such that you have a clear view of entire Park, so that you do not have to hover over children, while they play. For those that like to exercise, plenty of space for that also. Lastly, have a large overhead canopy if you want shade or just a cool spot to sit while watching your kiddies play. Overall I will say that this one of the best 'small' parks in Tyler.
Harry H — Google review
This is a great space for events. All supplies are available. There's a park across the street. Pavillion is available for shade and tables. We had a wonderful experience. It was a big hit for all.
Whit W — Google review
Beautiful park! Well maintained equipment, a nicely paved sidewalk. Very impressive basketball court and clean bathrooms!
Natalie R — Google review
This was a nice park, pretty clean, courts, a playground, a gazebo with picnic tables and multiple picnic tables around the park. We stopped and had lunch. It was a good play to sit for a few but I wouldn't consider it a destination park.. more like a little neighborhood park.
Pamela L — Google review
While the park is beautiful and has stuff to offer the area, it is an absolute nightmare. I wouldn't let kids come here, nonetheless my dog and cat that I travel with. It's a dangerous environment for those trying to enjoy a shady area that's quiet. The bathrooms are a wreck, with stalls being overflown with urine and unable to even be flushed. It floods the entire floor with potty water. Urine everywhere. Wouldn't want to think of what else is where by the looks. Trash and broken glass are all over the park, making it disgusting and dangerous to try and enjoy. Quite a shame on Texas. What would have been a nice picnic is now wasted gas we didn't have, and a risk to our animals well being, and even our own health. Close this place down if it's not gonna be well taken care...

Park
PT Cole Park is a great family-friendly park with available bathrooms and two basketball courts. It features a fun water splash area for the whole family, along with swings and a varied play area. The park has been recently renovated and offers neat facilities, including separate basketball courts and playground equipment. Despite some inconsistencies in the timing of the splash park, it remains a popular spot for families to enjoy. Additionally, there are shaded areas and well-lit spaces at night.
Cute park, wish there was more like this around town.
Dulce Q — Google review
My first experience was with my G-baby. She actually enjoyed herself. Today she conquered her fear of the slide. She broke her left tibia on the slide earlier this year and she was scared to get on them. Not anymore! The only thing that bothered me in the park was the large amount of bees at the trash can that was too close to the seating area.
Mary F — Google review
Me and my son's go to park after the gym! He loves the splash pad and it's really nice and cool at night. They have basketball courts.Little shaded area and the park is well lit at night time.
