American restaurant
Magnolia Table is a popular dining spot in Waco, Texas, known for its breakfast and lunch offerings made with locally sourced ingredients from nearby gardens and farms. The restaurant, owned by celebrity couple Chip and Joanna Gaines, is housed in a historical landmark that was once the Elite Cafe on the Circle. With its charming setting and delicious food, Magnolia Table attracts both locals and visitors from across the country. The menu features southern-inspired dishes, including a renowned chicken salad available for takeout.
We decided to make the drive from Dallas while visiting, and it was definitely worth it! 👏🏼 The biscuits + honey butter are exceptional! A must get for your appetizer. We shared the signature smash burger and it was delicious. The Brussels sprouts!!…SO GOOD. Don’t be fooled by the dark crispy color, these are incredible. Service was amazing as well! Shout out to Loren for making our experience so welcoming. 🫶🏼 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First time visit here while I was in Austin. The atmosphere was quaint and cute. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The server was a wonderful young lady and very friendly! The best thing we ate was the appetizer of maple bacon & deviled eggs... absolutely hands down the BEST 👌 10 OUT OF 10! The other food we got was good but the eggs and bacon app was the show!
Heather M — Google review
Definitely make a reservation! My son ordered Jo's crunchy French toast with over easy eggs and bacon, my sister and I ordered the Farm house breakfast and we had coffee. Everything was SO good. The French toast was the favorite. The bacon is very good too. We were seated at 10:20 am, and our reservation was at 10:30 am today. Service was very good and the food was delicious! We loved the atmosphere! The plant boxes everywhere were very nice. The restrooms were very clean and they had an attendant in there to keep it clean. We appreciated that there wasn't music playing in the background. You could just hear the hustle and bustle of a busy restaurant and the conversations of people enjoying a meal together. We will make sure Magnolia Table is part of our annual trip to Silobration!

Came here for the first time for a quick brunch, and also because I was curious about this place I watched on Fixer Upper years ago. Perhaps because it was a Tuesday, it was very easy to make a 12.30pm reservation last minute. Still, the place was full when I got there, and I felt lucky to find a spot right away in the parking lot. Upon entering, I found the place quite large and bright, although the hostess could be a bit more welcoming to guests. Once seated, service and food came quickly, and my server was excellent. I ordered the avocado toast with a poached egg, and a pumpkin spiced latte with soy milk. Perhaps paying $16.50 for one slice of toast with no sides was a bit expensive, I was pleasantly surprised that it was super tasty, and the sourdough bread was nice and soft, just the way I liked it. The pumpkin spiced latte was a bit too sweet for me, but the flavor was good. All in all, it was a very nice experience and I would certainly recommend this place for brunch.

My mom and I stopped in at Magnolia table for brunch. I was able to make a reservation an hour prior with no issues. The space is beautiful and very clean. It was around lunchtime so it was pretty busy. We were seated within a minute with no issues. Our server was very patient as we were indecisive. Everything on the menu looks so delicious. We decided on avocado toast with bacon on the side and the three sliders. The pimento bacon cheeseburger was my favorite, it had so much flavor! The avocado toast was very flavorful as well. The sourdough bread and olive oil made it next level. After brunch, we walked over next-door to the store where you could buy some of the things they offer in the restaurant and souvenirs such as sweaters, hand towels, magnets. Shop with caution everything is pricey. We did end up buying some blackberry jam, vanilla, strawberry jam, orange honey, and they’re famous strawberry whipped butter!

Here in Waco with my daughter for the weekend and we planned dinner here, I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and our waitress was amazing, exception service. We had the chicken biscuit sliders for our appetizer and it did not disappoint, I ordered the steak frites but subbed the blue cheese sauce for the chimichurri sauce and also subbed the fries for the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were a ok, my steak was unevenly cooked (I like medium rare) and a bit chewy/tough, but I'm a hard critic when it comes to steak, the chimichurri sauce was amazing!! My daughter had the bucatini pasta and that was perfect! Overall food and service was good I would definitely come back but I would just choose a different main entree! very good, however

Upscale diner with small but tasty menu. Inand out in less than hour. I ordered crispy chicken and it seemed like it was pre-made and sitting under a heat lamp waiting for someone to order. It was good just not fresh. This is a really nice place . Just level set your expectations this is not fine dining think of an upscale cracker barrel. The stuffed mushrooms were very good !

I don't often stop in to places like this but we gave it a shot tonight. This place lived up to the hype and was great! We got in around 7 ish with no problem. Friendly staff, atmosphere and we loved the dishes we selected. Apple pie with vanilla was to notch also. Do yourself a favor and stop in here for a bite👍👍

Italian restaurant
Pizza restaurant
Restaurant
Baris, also known as Baris III, is a beloved Italian restaurant located in Waco, Texas. Established in 1980, it is a family-owned eatery that draws inspiration from the recipes of Mama Baris. The casual and friendly ambiance has made it a popular spot for locals to enjoy traditional pasta dishes and delectable pizzas. With an easygoing BYOB setup, patrons can savor classic Italian flavors while enjoying their favorite beverages.
This was our first time eating here, and after our experience, we will definitely be back. The food was delicious, authentic! We ate there and ordered dinner to go. Lol! Our waiter/server Tacho was THE best part. He was absolutely amazing and very accommodating! If you are looking for an Italian spot...try Baris!❤️

This restaurant brought pure happiness to my husband, and that’s no small feat. He grew up in New York and has spent years searching for authentic Italian food in Texas, but nothing has ever come close... until now. We had the Italian sausage with peppers, Dee’s special, garlic bread topped with tomatoes and cheese, and the olive oil dipping sauce. All were amazing! Every bite reminded him of home, and the entire experience was enhanced by the incredibly reasonable prices and the warm, friendly service that made us feel at home. We left full, content, and already planning our return. This place is a gem—and will be a must-stop every time we visit our daughter at Baylor.

Baris is a true gem in Waco, Texas! From the moment you step in, you’re welcomed by an authentic Italian atmosphere that feels like home. The legacy of recipes passed down from the founder’s mother is evident in every dish. Everything is homemade, from the amazing bread and marinara to the mouthwatering entrees. I highly recommend the pasta sampler, along with the fried mushrooms, the Hawaiian pizza, the tortellini, and the shrimp – each one is a standout! Plus, the restaurant is BYOB, making it even more special. And a big shoutout to Sierra, the waitstaff member, who always goes above and beyond. If you’re in Waco, Baris is a must-visit!

Food was excellent, but getting there and picking it up was another story. Bumper to bumper parking Saturday night, 8 people sitting waiting outside just for a table inside. We were grateful to get in and out with our to go order. Best of both worlds! Interior was nothing special, but the food makes up for it!
Valerie F — Google review
Wow! The only way to put it...wow! This place was amazing. Definitely our new favorite Italian restaurant. The chicken parm, lasagna, cheese sticks, and so much more was exceptional. We had 6 in our party and everyone was blown away with the quality of food, the taste, and amazing service. Definitely make plans to eat here if in Waco!
DaFlash — Google review
I ordered food for takeout and was pleasantly surprised with the generous portions and tasty food. I ordered the Murphy with chicken and shrimp, plus a side of grilled chicken. One thing worth noting, the side of marinated chicken was better than the chicken in the Murphy.

Took my mother for lunch on Saturday. Spaghetti and meatball special – you cannot beat the price for roll, salad and entrée, $7. Taste good. Our server Vanessa was wonderful -Attentive to my elderly, Heart Of, hearing mother. Made her outing, a good one for her..

We were seated without much delay, which was nice. The Tortellini Pink Pasta was perfect. It was cooked just right and tasted amazing. The Baris Florentine Pizza was average and nothing extraordinary. I would definitely visit again just for the Tortellini Pink Pasta!

Mexican restaurant
Latin American restaurant
Ninfa's Mexican Restaurant is a vibrant and long-standing establishment known for its cocktails and authentic Mexican cuisine. Founded in 1973 by Ninfa Rodriguez Laurenzo, it continues to uphold her legacy of serving up delicious tacos, enchiladas, and being one of the first to popularize fajitas. The restaurant also offers Tex-Mex favorites like quesadillas and burritos, accompanied by their signature avocado and tomatillo green sauce.
Wow. Amazing. This is the kind of place that you can tell everything is made in house. The green salsa in particular was phenomenal, but both were good! The chips and queso were outstanding (they came with special chips). My husband got a burrito and it was great and clearly made with one of their homemade tortillas. I ordered the pisca and wow it was so incredible. The only thing is that the shrimp was slightly overdone. The steak was perfect. The charo beans were even good and I don't even usually care for those. Would definitely come again! The menu had plenty of great looking options.
Arianna T — Google review
We came at 7:45 and half the restaurant was empty. We asked for a table for 6 - 2 of the party was here while the remaining were in another car on their way. The hostesses rudely stated, “oh we can’t seat you until your entire party arrives.” There was no wait. We even stated that we would be ordering appetizers and drinks upon seating for 6.. 3 of the hostesses were quick to chime in. We were not arguing or being disrespectful. We were trying to understand and express our intent. The sign states “we will not seat incomplete parties on a wait.” Again, there was no wait. If your policy is going to change based on who is working the host stand, then I would suggest having a clearer policy or making sure your entire staff understands the policy. We have been decades long customers of Ninfa’s and have never been treated so disrespectfully and disregarded. As I’m sitting here writing this.. there is a group of 6 wait staff just hanging out behind the host stand. Great way to lose customers and money.
Jessica P — Google review
We visited Ninfa’s for lunch because it was directly across the street from the Waco Convention Center. I think we all ordered a lunch plate. It was a lot of food! I love the decor of the restaurant.
Christine K — Google review
I stopped at this restaurant while driving through town and I’m glad I did. The service was amazing since you open the door. The food was super fresh and tasty. I highly recommend the carne Guisada plate, it is very authentic and can be spicy if you like. The drinks were on point and the place ambient very comfortable. I for sure will come back again!
Marco A — Google review
Great atmosphere, awesome service, tasty food! I had the shrimp stuffed jalapeno popper thingies and the best advice I can give is order four instead of two! Then I had the La bonita, a great sampling of a chicken enchilada, chile relleno and a beef taco. My only disappointment is I am too full to try the apple empanadas!
Troy K — Google review
Lunch with friends. Ninfa’s is a tried & true favorite. Festive atmosphere, good service, delicious enchiladas. The historic building is clean and inviting highly recommend Ninfa’s.
Edie C — Google review
Tory at Ninfa’s in Waco, Tx was outstanding. She brought our drinks before we ever had to ask, stayed on top of everything, and delivered the best service we’ve had at any restaurant so far. The food was delicious, but the service was on another level entirely. This is real Mexican food, not the fake stuff, and this place is now our go-to spot. We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be making reservations—and asking specifically for Tory. If you're looking for greatness in both quality food and top-tier service, Ninfa’s is the place to be.
Shannon H — Google review
To start out I am usually not big on Mexican food but Ninfa's changed all that.Jman our awesome waiter not only delivered great service but also great reccomendations on drinks. I had to go twice while I was on my trip. I love the food, the drinks and the amazing atmosphere and staff. Now I have a favorite Mexican restaraunt and favorite waiter that we will try to get every time. Thank you so much Jman & Twila for making my visits great!!!!

George’s Restaurant Bar & Catering is a long-standing Waco establishment that has been serving up classic American dishes and drinks since the 1930s. It's a popular spot for locals, college students, and Baylor fans, especially on game days. The restaurant offers a hearty menu featuring items like chicken-fried steak, burgers, and their famous Big O beer. With multiple high-definition screens throughout the venue, George’s ensures that patrons never miss any sports action while enjoying their meal or drinks.
Killer burgers and sandwiches at a good price. They use sweet buns and all the toppings are fresh. Quality beef and chicken. Large portion - didn’t feel like they skimped on anything but it wasn’t impossible to eat either. Sweet potato fries were burnt and unseasoned, so avoid those, but everything else was great. Service was good, food was great, price was right. Worth stopping by if you’re in town.
Matthew L — Google review
I r heard great things about this place and was encouraged to stop here should I ever come back to Waco. I have to say it was worth it. The appetizers were amazing. Onion Rings, Fried Pickles and Chicken Fried Steak is very delicious. I too would highly recommend this place. I know there may be a wait but the food and service is good.
Bruce C — Google review
What a surprise! I have never been here before and what an amazing first experience! Chicken Fried Steak was superb! Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! Cream gravy poured over that and my garlic mashed potatoes next to some green beans! Heaven! I added a side of broccoli and rice casserole which was the best I’ve ever had and apparently a customer favorite. Rolls and cornbread, yum! Peach Cobbler and two scoops of ice cream closed this one out! Best meal I’ve had in Waco, by far. Stephanie was my server. She was amazing and never let me be in need. Give that gal a raise! So glad I found this place! 😋
Bill B — Google review
A Waco classic meet-up for reliable food, simple drinks, and a fun, relaxed atmosphere. I had the spinach salad with chicken and it was excellent! Well seasoned chicken over fresh spinach with bacon, mushrooms, and purple onion. I had ranch and balsamic served on the side. Perfect blend of flavors and a hearty serving size. Hubby had the crazy wings-chicken breast with cheese and a slice of pickled jalapeño inside, all neatly wrapped in bacon! Served fresh with ranch for dipping. (The chicken could have used a little seasoning before being wrapped up, just to bring more flavors, but it was still tasty.) Food was served quickly. Server was friendly. We went on a Tuesday night and there was no wait! They have a large menu to satisfy anything you might be craving. Definitely stop by next time you are in town. Just a couple blocks off I-35.

George’s is our tried-and-true spot whenever we head to a Baylor game! We’ve been coming here since 2000, and it’s become a family tradition that my wife and daughters absolutely love. The food never disappoints, the atmosphere is always welcoming, and those schooners of ice-cold beer are clutch every single time. Consistently great and always a highlight of our trips to Waco!
Jason H — Google review
Recommended by a local friend, we were not disappointed at this restaurant! Great, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Wide variety of items on the menu and VERY AFFORDABLE - we are already planning what we'll have on our return visit! 😀 my wife settled on the Cry Baby Burger w onion rings, and I on the lunch special Chicken Fried Steak. I have to say, the onion rings were probably some of the best we've had. She loved the burger and the homemade jalapeño bun. I thought the green beans were also tops on my list, and the CFS breading was just as tasty as the breading on those onion rings. However, the meat was about 80% the size of the breading. It was still so tasty it was good by itself! The gravy was nothing special, though. I wish it was homemade, but it tastes like a generic powder mix. Creamy, but not much flavor. All in all, this is a wonderful place, with the managers walking around greeting customers and attentive servers. We'll definitely be back ! - UPDATE: We're back again, and everything was still sooo delicious! Nephew's Chicken was my attempt at a "lighter" dish (which it was!). The mixed veggies were cooked to perfection! My daughter's Steak Finger's from the kids menu were an awesome deal! That breading is out of this world! And the fried mushrooms probably the best we've had. Once again, thank you for another great meal and such great value! 🍻❤️👍
Jorge V — Google review
The food here is great, but I wanted some of their amazing onion rings to munch on for my drive to Ft Worth. I walked in to order, and it took sooooooooo long to get them. I literally waited 25 minutes. They also have some t-shirts for sale in the front waiting area, I think I memorized them all waiting. Lol Maybe ordering ahead is a better option, because they were not even busy inside and like 4 people were standing up front chatting. But, the rings were super delicious as always. A full order can feed a lot of folks. The stars are for the food only, not the service but I know the front has nothing to do with the cook time.

One Thirty Five Prime is an upscale steakhouse located in Waco, Texas, known for its fine dining experience and laid-back atmosphere. The restaurant has been serving top-quality beef, seafood, and farm-to-table produce for over a decade.
Fine dining in a strip mall. Go figure. Once you enter you'll be surprised. The decor is upscale steakhouse all the way. The service is in keeping with the high-end atmosphere. Attentive but never pushed and formal but friendly. Our waiter was professional and informative and a great attitude. A Certified Akaushi 8oz filet is $68 and well.worth it and cooked perfectly. We shared scalloped potatoes and cream spinach sides which were also delicious easily enough for two. For dessert I ordered their "signature" Creme Brulee. Nice crunch on top and great flavor. So there you have it. If you are in the Waco area and aren't afraid to pay for a great meal One Thirty Five is your spot. Thank you for a fine meal.

I wish I was in Texas longer so I could come back here. This was the best ribeye I’ve had in years - I HIGHLY recommend their Marsala mushroom sauce. We got there at opening, so we were able to walk in and be seated. They have the main floor, bar seating, outdoor seating, a private dining room, and a larger separate event room. The waitstaff here wear white button-downs and black ties, so it’s recommended that you dress up at least a little.
Brian S — Google review
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly, but overall our experience was just okay. The food was nothing special, and for the price, we expected a bit more attention to detail.
Vianey R — Google review
Our server Jordan was amazing our entire experience! All the savory foods were absolutely delicious. As unique as the cocktails were, most of them at the table were not actually very good(sometimes it's better to stick to the classics). For main course, I ordered the 135 medallions. As delicious as the food was, the portion size was laughable. My friend ordered the 6oz steak, and this was definitely less than half the quantity of meat(it says 4oz). When they showed up with a tiny smear of polenta and maybe what was 3 oz of steak before cooked on a massive plate, everyone at the table literally laughed out loud. Definitely not worth $42. For dessert, we ordered the 8 layer amaretto chocolate cake, which looks absolutely delicious. Looks aside, the cake is actually the driest cake I've ever had, I would not recommend it.
Tawni K — Google review
We took a party of eight here to celebrate graduation recently. Graduation evening is hard to get reservations, and 135 had seating in their “annex”, so we knew we weren’t getting the main restaurant. This isn’t a knock on the restaurant, because they opened up more tables for hungry families, but the annex seating is functional at best. The main restaurant is classy and well appointed, while the annex is for office parties. The food here is good; nothing we had was bad. But none of it was the best version of what we have eaten before. We had steak, pasta, chicken and fish and enjoyed it all. Unfortunately the prices mirror some of the finest restaurants in larger cities, and this didn’t meet those expectations. The pasta sauce had broken, the steak medallions were strangely sliced and cooked, and the chocolate cake tasted like it had been in the chiller for quite a while. None of it “bad”, just slight misses. Our waiter was attentive and did a good job of making recommendations. It was especially admirable given that he was fifty yards from the main kitchen. If you want a nicer dinner in Waco, there aren’t many restaurants that are better than 135. Just don’t expect too much.

Four of us enjoyed an early dinner. The hostess was friendly as was our server. Attentive without being intrusive. Our food, all of us had filets, was cooked to order. Excellent flavor. Lobster risotto, lobster Mac and mashed potatoes were delicious. We did have an issue with one item but our server handled it without it becoming a hassle. Excellent service recovery. The wine and cocktail list is extensive. The wines by the glass give you plenty of options as well. We've dined here a few times and won't hesitate to return in the future when in the area.

First time visiting Waco and we went for a birthday dinner. Everything was incredible. The gnocchi as our appetizer was amazing, our steaks were cooked perfectly, and my espresso martini was one of the best ones I have ever had.

Must give them 5 stars. Made reservation at last minutes and got a table for 3. Arrived on time and the host took us to the cozy room; our table was ready. Nice ambience, clean. Our server is Josh and he is so honest, sweet, and friendly. Had a great meal with fresh oyster, tenderloin, lobsters, chileansea bass.... Perfect dinner! Highly recommend this place.

Nestled in downtown Waco, Clay Pot Restaurant is a hidden gem offering a laid-back atmosphere and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The extensive menu features classic Asian staples like sesame chicken and fried rice, but it's the specialties such as vermicelli and pho that truly stand out. With influences from both North and South Vietnam, this eatery presents a unique dining experience with an array of vegetarian and vegan options.
What a fantastic vietnamese spot! It's not a high end place, but it is so cute, well decorated, and fairly priced seemingly kind of spot. I ordered the special soup with beef and it was good! I wish it had a tad more veggies/mushrooms/meat to noodles. My husband had the deluxe pho and liked it. The menu has a lot of great looking options and I would want to return to try more!

First time and thought what the heck why don't I try The Clay Pot entree because after all it is The Clay Pot restaurant. They put so much beef in it that I had to ask if they put double beef. Nope I guess they just put a generous amount of beef in their entrees as a default. Mostly affordable for anybody on a budget and our food came out within 15 minutes ...not too bad.

Can you really get amazing Gluten Free Vietnamese food in Waco, TX? Yes, you can at Clay Pot! We started our meal with Gluten Free Pork Fried Egg Rolls. They were so delicious we had to order another serving!!! For our entrees, we selected Pineapple Fried Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice and Chicken Bun Xoa. All were delicious!!! So if you are in Waco for a weekend getaway or are a local, make the trip to Clay Pot in Downtown Waco. You will be glad you did!!!!

Thai tea + green thai tea are not sweet whatsoever and very watered down. (maybe 25% sweetness) They no longer have boba btw. Pho was SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. Unfortunately, they have 1 size and it is like a small. There IS NO THAI BASIL or no basil at all. Also no lime nor bean sprouts. Just a bowl of pho with cilantro already in it. The noodles were too soft (overcooked) For me, that is not pho if there is no basil. Broth is not it. I can also smell as if tripe in it. The bowl itself is $13 and any meat added is +$2. For $15 and size: pls drive to Sugar Spice 17 minutes away. Stans Clay pot was mid. Nothing special abt it. My husband actually didn't enjoy it. In all, would not go back. Just very dissatisfied abt the food. Service and atmosphere is ok.

Alpha Omega Grill & Bakery is a popular Mediterranean restaurant located in Waco's historic district. The building, which used to be a transmission shop in the 1950s, was restored and transformed into the restaurant in 2016. They offer a wide variety of gyro sandwiches, fresh pita, and mezze platters. The menu features mouthwatering dishes made with in-house baked goods, including their delicious pita bread.
The Chicken Souvlaki is excellent! The French Fries are perfect! The staff is friendly and helpful! I was able to purchase my Greek Olive Oil and get an amazing lunch while enjoying the Greek music playing overhead!!!

Atmosphere looks good and clean, so I thought. The clean spoons still had dirty food on them, I didn't even want to eat my food after that. The soup i order had too much vinegar or acidity, I only ate one spoonful. The gyro sandwich was OK, but the pita bread here is like a loaf, its way to big and thick. I wish the sandwiches had some other veggie than onions and meat. I wouldn't return. Its a Saturday night and this place has been empty from 6-8p. That says alit about what people think about this place. But go try it for yourself.

Was in the waco area for a conference and tried this place on a whim and very much enjoyed it. I had a variety off apps (humus, dolmas, and spanokopita). I was very pleasantly surprised. The dolmas were well balanced, spiced well, and firm. The humus had a great taste and the pita was fresh and very fluffy, it was not thin pita. The spanikopita was fresh and made recently but was very not traditional, I would get again though. Pleasant place and nice atmosphere, I was there for lunch and it was fairly full.

I went here for the first time accompanied by someone that has experience with the food. For other first timers: you go in and order at a counter, they'll give you your cups and then you pick a table and they'll call your name when your food is ready. They have the menu on the wall but also hand held sheets so you can stand to the side and make up your mind. The food was good, the men making the plates were friendly and you get plenty for your money (I ate twice from my portion). Our only small issue was that the lady that took our order didn't want the experienced person to order lamb. Maybe they were out or running low, but he gave his order and she kept repeating a version of: pork is our traditional meat, pork is the traditional order, etc , and by the third time she said it, he gave in and ordered the pork, then during the meal he said that having had them both now, he should have insisted on the lamb. It won't keep us from returning, it was just a little odd.

Ordered a lamb gyro and got shredded tough lamb (not gyro)in a hard pita , old fries that were also hard. Baklava was dry. Great waste of $22.50

My favorite way to kick off the weekend. A Saturday ritual of an amazing gyro from Alpha Omega, followed by the fellowship and support of an AA meeting. Highly recommended, even the meeting – if you need it. 😉

The restaurant has a small bakery cafe feel. It not usually super busy so you can easily find a spot to sit with no wait. You order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. The stove was great. They’re really friendly and knowledgeable. The food here is fantastic. They gyros are pretty big so keep that in mind.

La Fiesta Restaurant & Cantina is a long-standing Mexican restaurant in Waco, known for its vibrant atmosphere and extensive menu featuring traditional and Tex-Mex dishes. Established by the Castillo family nearly 60 years ago, it has become a popular spot for generous portions of delicious food and festive decor, making it ideal for family outings and casual get-togethers.
Tonight was our first time here and this place is a gold mine. From the initial chips and salsa to the service (our server was Ciera and she took such good care of us), to the special of the day (we both had the chicken enchiladas) everything was so good. Food was hot and fresh and delicious. The beans were so good and the flour tortillas were 🤌. We will 100% absolutely be back.
Naomi N — Google review
We enjoy the chicken fajita enchiladas so much. And the birria tacos stay moist and juicy if you don't eat them the day you order them. The salsa is always a little disappointing surprisingly. It always tastes a little rancid somehow. Not my favorite. Everything else is always on point though, and I don't think they've ever messed up my delivery order. Thanks for being on DoorDash! What a God send!
KT M — Google review
I did not like this restaurant. The tortilla soup was served luke warm and was mostly onion. I was also not a fan of the chips or my margarita. I ordered the skinny and it had a 'fake' flavor. The vibe was like the old Isle of Capri casino meets country.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ La Fiesta Restaurant & Cantina – Waco, TX We had a great time at La Fiesta! The food was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for from good Tex-Mex. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed—perfect for a casual night out. My queso brisket enchiladas and our Elote Street Corn Dip were delicious! Our waiter was absolutely awesome—friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just right. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to next time we’re in Waco! 🌮🍹

I think there's been a revamp of the menu. Food was good, different from what I'm used to, but I still enjoyed my dinner. We ordered the carne guisada, ribeye tacos and chicken fried chicken. Sierra, not sure if I'm spelling her name correctly was our server. She was GREAT, made sure to ask if we were ok very attentive. Very friendly vibe and made us feel right at home. For sure will keep us going back. LOVE IT

Went here with the family last night and this place was better than I expected! I had the Pancho Nachos, and boy were they good! A large portion of cheesy chili con queso, deliciously seasoned ground beef, sour cream, and guacamole. I had a bite of my mom's chicken, spinach & mushroom enchiladas that were cheesy and flavorful, and my dad had the steak fajitas that came out sizzling hot with tender beef that were also cooked and seasoned to perfection. My next meal is gonna be hard to choose since everything was so good! I definitely plan to come back. The famous purple margarita was also a favorite and must try! Our waitress was so sweet and funny (I feel bad that I didn't catch her name). All the staff was friendly and there was no wait on a Monday evening, and the atmosphere was laid back and not too loud. I enjoyed my time here. Give it a try if you haven't already.

EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious 😋 I had the 2 beef enchiladas con carne with refried beans and Mexican rice. The rice was fluffy and light. The enchiladas were packed with flavor. Salsa had a slight kick, which I like. The Pina Colada was smooth and yummy. The waitress was a delight. Wish we had this restaurant in Fort Worth. I guess I will have to make more visits to Waco to indulge in their scrumptious food.

I had eaten rather late yesterday (just before closing) but that took nothing away from the attention I received at the Huaco Mexican Eatery. The food was meticulously curated, the chef was cheerful and sweet and it was completely delicious. A unique take on your everyday tacos we seem to get here in Texas and the churros are next level.

We ate at Huaco. I spotted some locations around town, but we eat plenty of Mexican food so I wasnt planning to check it out. But in here, we saw some pics of the food at their food counter and it just looked very appetizing so we tried it. It tasted so good! It was more foodie than traditional, but it was very delicious. Cafe Homestead is a well-known restaurant located at the historic craft village, Homestead Heritage, just a few miles from central Waco. It's a popular dining spot for both locals and tourists looking to experience the old Texan charm and traditions of Texas farming communities. The restaurant prides itself on serving locally sourced American cuisine with an emphasis on farm-to-table dining. Following a fire that destroyed the original building, Cafe Homestead has been rebuilt into a beautiful establishment.
My wife and 2 year old daughter went here tonight and it was one of the best food experiences of our lives. We were blown away by the quality of food and the service. This is a must visit food place in Waco and Texas for that matter. We wish we could eat there everyday! We highly recommend getting the spinach dip as an appetizer as well! It will be the best you’ve ever had!

Gem of a place. The food was delicious. Their buttermilk biscuits are the best I've ever had...even more than those at Magnolia Table. The staff is so friendly. Their little store in the main entrance area is FUN, but if you schedule your time there right, you can visit and enjoy all the Homestead village shops and atmosphere. Worth the time. I recommend a reservation.

Well that was quite the incredible accidental discovery. On our autumn road trip getaway to San Antonio, we were looking for lunch outside Waco. My wife ran a Google search for "restaurants near me" and in the top of the list was Homestead Cafe. We were on I35 so it wasn't exactly "near" but the drive through the country was worth a few miles. The cafe is the heart of a beautiful craft community. The staff was wonderful. The atmosphere is warm and rustic. My wife enjoyed the wagu burger and my the wagu brisket tacos we among the best I have ever savored. Best of all, a classic car rally had made a stop here. Wow!

Cafe Homestead has amazing guacamole and salsa. Everything is mostly made in house or locally sourced. The atmosphere is family friendly and the community around is perfect to explore. I come down from DFW at least once a year at least just to eat here. The service is fantastic, and today Jessica was our server who kept that stellar service going. I recommend making a reservation and giving yourself time to park and walk around the grounds as it’s always busy.
Matthew J — Google review
We had such a great experience at Cafe Homestead! The food was absolutely amazing — everything was fresh and full of flavor. The service was perfect from start to finish, and the staff made us feel so welcome. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has such a cozy, inviting atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

I finally made my way to Cafe Homestead and it was a true delight. My waiter, Brandon, was very kind and knowledgeable of the menu items to select for me a good choice. I chose the Sriacha burger, fries and the corn fritters with a Lemonade Peach tea. The food was absolutely delicious. The inside of the restaurant is warm and welcoming and not at all noisy. So my dining experience was quite enjoyable, up until a young lady came over and begin spraying some sort of cleaning agent to prepare the tables for the next guest. I've come to notice this trend being practiced at several mainstream restaurants and for me personally, it is annoying to be subjected to smelling chemicals and spray being aerialized around guests who are eating. This is why I lowered my rating from 5 to a 4 star because of this annoying trend. Would I recommend this restaurant, yes. Would I return for the good food, yes. But I hope that management after reading this review will be mindful to their cleaning practices around its paying guest because I do not care to see chemicals being sprayed around while I'm trying to enjoy my meal.
Angel A — Google review
We last visited Cafe Homestead in the Fall of 2022 before the original restaurant burned down. When planning another trip to Waco for my daughter's birthday, we read the story about the unfortunate situation, but we were very glad to hear about the rebuilding of the facility. 18 weeks from the time it burned down to coming back online is nothing short of amazing. This trip was not unlike the last, in that the food, service and overall experience were simply fantastic. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, which continues to be the best I've ever had. All four of us were stuffed and quite satisfied after our meal. Next time we plan on spending more time exploring the area shops and activities. Highly Recommend!

Hearty great food prepared from scratch like Grandma used to make! The bestest salads! The ranch dressing is just awesome. Desserts made from scratch are soooo good! Even the tea is just fantastic! Get the peach tea or Cream Earl Gray in cooler weather. Friendliest, most polite staff. Beautiful building with lots of handcrafted touches. So much fun shopping around the restaurant whilst you wait! One of our favorite places!

Hecho En Waco Mexican Cuisine is a popular restaurant located in downtown Waco, close to Magnolia Market at the Silos. The restaurant offers a spacious dining room, a full bar, and outdoor patio seating. It's advisable to make reservations in advance due to its popularity and limited space. The menu features a variety of Mexican and Tex-Mex staples such as chorimigas, pozole verde, huevos divorciados, and classic chilaquiles.
One of my favorite spots in Waco! Omar took such great care of us with top-notch service. Even though we arrived a little late, everything was still delicious!
Mon H — Google review
I don’t usually like writing bad reviews, but we were in a rush and stopped in here for lunch. The service was fine, but the food was terrible and bland. I love seafood, but the camerones tasted so fishy and inedible that I couldn’t even finish it. The rice and vegetables had no seasoning and even salt and pepper couldn’t fix it. I had a small bite of each of my plate and left it untouched after. We really should’ve complained but we were in a rush and didn’t think of it until afterwards. Even if they coped my meal I don’t think I’d give the food another try.
Tiffany P — Google review
If you find yourself wandering through Waco craving Mexican food with a polished edge, Hecho en Waco looks the part: modern ambiance, stylish lighting, and a menu that hints at ambition. But a recent visit proved that while the presentation is strong, the flavor journey might leave you more inspired by the chips than the entrée. I ordered Emilio’s Salmon, a plate that sounds like a bold statement: adobo-glazed salmon topped with grilled shrimp, laid on a bed of rice with charred vegetables. It took about 25 minutes to arrive, which set expectations high — anticipation builds appetite. Unfortunately, the rice arrived cold, and the salmon was slightly overcooked. It started promising, with a bit of adobo heat on the crust, but quickly turned one-note as I worked through it. The grilled shrimp were small, and while nicely charred, they didn’t bring much to the plate beyond decoration. The vegetables were fine — just that. Not crisp, not juicy, just… okay. The real surprise? The chips, bean dip, and salsa. Not exaggerating — that trio stole the show. The chips were thicker than average but somehow still airy, with that aerated crunch that keeps you going back without regret. The bean dip was rich and satisfying, and the salsa carried a depth of spice and flavor that stood out in contrast to the more muted main course. I paired the meal with a jalapeño margarita, which was decent — citrus-forward with a mild kick — but not something I’d write home about. Still, it complemented the chips and salsa well, especially if you’re showing up during happy hour (3–6 PM, Mon–Fri) when appetizers and margaritas are half off. That’s a solid deal and, frankly, a smart way to enjoy this place. Service was polite but not especially present. With a delay like that on the entrée, a little table-side check-in would’ve gone a long way. The atmosphere during the week is relaxed. Moody walls, warm Edison bulbs, and a touch of Mexican decor give it a modern cantina feel without being loud or busy. Ideal for a mellow lunch or a casual margarita meet-up. Final Verdict: Hecho en Waco is worth visiting — but don’t come starving. The entrées are hit or miss, but the chips, salsa, and bean dip are strong enough to carry a happy hour. If you’re here to sip, snack, and settle into the vibe, you’ll leave satisfied. Just don’t expect culinary fireworks on every plate. Go for the chips. Stay for the salsa. And if it’s between 3–6 PM? That’s the sweet spot.

Delicious food, excellent service, charming dining rooms. This cute little restaurant was just what we needed for lunch. It's bright and airy with comfortable seating and two separate outdoor seating areas. We felt very welcome and enjoyed the food. We were offered sturdy corn chips with salsa and bean dip ahead of our meal. We selected Che's Tacos and the D.F. chicken enchiladas for our meal. Both were delicious. The brightness of the pickled onions and fresh avocado on the carnitas corn tacos was a perfectly refreshing contrast. Definitely would eat here again when in Waco.

This food is just ok. The service is okay, and the food is alright I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. The chips are real good the salads is alright and the beans taste like they come from a can. I got the green enchiladas they were alright nothing really special about this place. The carnitas were good but nothing out of the ordinary.

While known for their gyros, falafel, and spanakopita, they also offer unexpectedly delicious chicken tenders with crispy batter that stays crunchy even when dipped in sauce.
My family and I went to visit Waco and were feeling super hungry we were looking for a good Greek restaurant and we finally stumbled upon this one. We got our food pretty quickly and the employees were super kind to us taking our orders 😊 Their fries and onion rings were crispy and flavorful. We also had gotten the chips that were seasoned well and had a nice crunch to them, We 💕loved to dip the chips with the hummus that we recommended you guys try. Their salads were super fresh, and their gyro wrappers were delicious as well.

It's the only Mediterranean that I've found for miles! The food is pretty good, I wish the gyro would have had more veggies. I liked the baba ghanoush, its not super smokey. I actually added it to my gyro because it just seemed like it needed something more. I didn't get fries, but they smelled amazing. The lady taking orders wasn't the friendliest or the most helpful but I assume she's been there since the beginning.

My wife and I are visiting from out of town. After we arrived, we realized we had eaten here once before, many years ago. We both had chicken kabobs with different sides. Chicken was excellent. Rice, pita’s, salad and hummus were very good. The gentleman who took our order at the counter was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant itself is very basic, but it feels like a family owned business that has been around for years, so no issues. My only slight complaint is that the prices are quite high compared to our hometown Mediterranean choices. If we are visiting Waco again, we would likely return.

Stopped in for a late lunch while in town so it was pretty quiet. Definitely a place we'd stop by again next time to try more dishes. As it was, the teenager raved about the Greek chicken salad, and my husband and I really enjoyed the gyro and falafel. I forgot to order pita chips I'd seen in a review pic until after I was already full and noticed them on the salad. Stole a couple and will make room for them next time.

Milo is a charming and rustic-chic eatery located in Texas, offering seasonal Southern comfort food and a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine. The establishment is associated with the Southern Roots Brewery, which was founded in Waco in 2018. The brewery's story began with home brewing as a hobby and eventually led to the creation of a debut line-up of craft beers.
Stopped in for a quick bite with some friends! Loved the open concept atmosphere for seating. If you are someone who enjoys the patio regardless of the weather- there is a place for you here. The space is well covered and provides the perfect protection during the summer heat. Started with the cast iron cornbread- delicious! If you are someone who enjoys a little kick with their meal, the hot chicken tacos will be perfect for you! If you are looking for something sweet but relatively light- the French toast was very nice! Service was great. Bathrooms were clean. It was the perfect place to meet some friends!
Kate B — Google review
This was my second visit to Milo and I love the farm to table mission and ambiance! Even though they advertise the brussels as crispy, ours were severely overcooked which made them unenjoyable. They also came out suspiciously fast but weren’t overly hot which made them feel like maybe they were old? The lemon chicken bowl was really good; the chicken was super juicy and all of the flavors worked well together. My friend ordered the egg white frittata and the portion was a bit small, so if you’re hungry you’d definitely need more than just that for your main. It’s weird it doesn’t come with a side of toast, potatoes, or something else.

Nashville hot chicken tacos were a hit in my book, amazing flavor, balanced. Servers seemed over booked. Granted it was busy. maybe they need more help? All in all I will be back to try out their other menu items!

Pretty good spot! They had half off appetizers and margaritas which allowed us to try s few things! We got the pimento cheese (very good and I enjoyed the homemade crackers), the brussel sprouts were also quite good. my husband got the burger and I ordered the steak lettuce wraps. The burger and fries were very fresh and flavorful. maybe it was supposed to be this way, but the steak for my entree was cooked so much it was crunchy.... The flavor was good, but I found that odd. Fresh ingredients and good service. A relaxed, bright and airy atmosphere! Some entrees seemed smaller, but the appetizers helped fill us up.

Great atmosphere for a family get together. Plenty of food choices. Kids grilled cheese is huge. My hamburger was perfect! Salmon was blackened beautifully for my wife. Great food and service!

Great space with very nice modern finishes and the patio was very comfortable to sit at. Parking was very limited but parked down the street and it was not far. Carnitas hash and the Nashville hot tacos were all really good choices. Highly recommend the pumpkin spice espresso martinis.

I ordered to go and was disappointed. I order The Salad which was described as little gem lettuce, sesame sunflower seed crunch and rustic croutons and Campari tomatoes. None of these are actually on what I received. I also had the crab hush puppies which were ok not much crab mostly cornbread and the corn ribs which were pretty good. Do better Milo!

The portions were very small. The blackend salmon was tasty but there was virtually no side dish to accommodate. I ordered a salad and the chicken add on was $8 and was 1 small piece (see photo). Overall the salad was also tasty but basically entirely lettuce. They gave us a 25% discount but I gave the money to the waitress as none of the limited portions were her fault.

Korean barbecue restaurant
Kitok Restaurant is a no-frills Korean-American eatery that has been a staple in Waco since 1975. Despite being known for its Korean cuisine, it gained recognition for serving one of the best burgers in Texas, as mentioned in The New York Times. The menu offers a variety of options including noodles, stir-fries, bulgogi, and kimchee alongside their renowned burgers like the Liplocker and Egg Burger. The cozy ambiance with retro decorations adds to the dining experience.
Two of us ate here on Feb. 19th after I'd had a medical procedure done. It was really windy and cold that day. Parking is in the back. We were greeted as soon as we entered and told to pick our own table. It's a small place and there was a gas heater going which made it even more cozy. The food was great and the two ladies were so sweet and attentive. We've told multiple people about Kitok and will 100% be going back when we're in the area. We found it sort of by accident, but that was a great accident. Everything we had was great, try it all!

Best Korean propaganda I've experienced since watching K-pop Demon Hunters. The oriental fries are the best fries I have had in Waco. The potato soup and fried rice is incredible. The salad is excellent. Those were just the accompanying sides, which were not small in size and made us feel like we were getting exceptional value from the price of meal. The entrées themselves are quite good. The flavor on the beef bulgogi was top-notch and the gravy accompanying the chicken fried steak was excellent. If there can be one area of improvement, it is with the tenderness of the meat—both the chicken fried steak and the beef bulgogi were tougher than my liking but not too much as to detract from the value of the meal. We definitely will come again.

Opened in 1975 this local favorite is definitely a must stop. It’s small and cozy but I love how it feels inside. It feels very cozy and welcoming. Reminds me a lot of the 80’s and 90’s restaurants because of the decorations and ambiance. I really appreciated it. We were sat down immediately at 5pm which is nice. 5pm on a Saturday could be a risk going out to eat and having or wait for a table. Our server was friendly. The food is really the best part which explains why it has such high esteem in the community. You absolutely must try the beef bulgogi. It’s incredibly tender and flavorful. I was also very impressed with my burger. It was simple but full of flavor. The oriental fries were also very good and the onion rings were crispy. We will be back to try the bulgogi burger next time!

This restaurant has literally been here for decades! The house vegetable fries are absolutely delicious and if you just want a quick snack these are the way to go! I ordered a single patty cheeseburger and it was delicious! The tomatoes lettuce and onions were all freshly cut and still cold. My bun was toasted and the whole burger could not have tasted better. If you're just having a casual lunch and want to go dressed in shorts and t-shirts, this place is for you. All three of us were stuffed when we left here and the price did not break the bank. Three burgers and two of the veggie fries or $27. For three people, that is extremely affordable

What a great burger and the staff was great! The mother and daughter team did excellent and the food came out so fast! They close at 4 and we walked in at 3:15 with the best greeting from the daughter and they weren’t frustrated that we came in last minute. Love love love this place!!

I realize I'm probably the only one with this review but I'm not going to sugar coat anything. This was my first time eating here and I went with my bf. The employees were very welcoming, the atmosphere was quiet and it's very clean inside. The food however could use some help. We heard such good things about this place and we were very disappointed. The fried shrimp was mushy, the soup they have, which was chicken and potato was bland and disgusting. Bolgolgi wasn't very good. My bf actually threw up in the parking lot after we paid and left. The food there just didn't seem fresh, like it was all store bought and just overcooked and very tasteless. I'm very disappointed especially after hearing great things about this place and we decided to finally give this place a shot. We will not be going back.
Vicky — Google review
We always dine-in and get the burgers and the oriental fries. Both of those options are always consistently fresh when we order them and taste great when dining in. The staff is very kind and the prices are great as well. Also most likely the only place in Waco where you can slightly scratch your itch for Korean tangsuyuk.
Whe W — Google review
The food was delicious and the portions were large enough for 2 people to share. The service was a little lacking. My wife’s food did not arrive until I was done with my food, might have been the cooks fault, or they might have dropped it in the kitchen. The oriental fries were delicious potato strings with broccoli and onions fried up. I would try this place again.

Restaurant
Cupp's Drive Inn is a family-owned diner that has been a neighborhood staple since 1947. It offers classic burgers, hand-cut fries, and other nostalgic comfort foods. Even Elvis Presley frequented this spot during his time at Fort Hood, often indulging in their double cheeseburgers with bacon. The restaurant prides itself on serving fresh daily-made burgers, including classic options and chili cheeseburgers.
Cupp’s Drive-In – A Waco Icon That’s Stood the Test of Time If you find yourself in Waco, Texas, and you’re craving a true, old-school burger experience, there’s one place that locals and travelers alike will tell you to visit: Cupp’s Drive-In. This South Waco staple has been serving up fresh, no-frills, made-to-order burgers and hand-cut fries since 1947, and it remains one of the most beloved burger joints in the city. The Atmosphere: A Step Back in Time Walking into Cupp’s feels like stepping into a classic American diner from decades past. There’s no fancy digital menu or trendy decor—just a handwritten menu on the wall, stacks of classic plates, and a well-worn griddle that’s seen generations of burger lovers. It’s a small, cozy space with a laid-back, friendly vibe. If you’re lucky, you’ll meet Sherry, one of the co-owners, who makes you feel like family the moment you walk in. She and her brother (I believe they run the place together—don’t quote me on that!) keep the tradition alive with their warm hospitality and no-nonsense approach to good food. You can dine inside, but part of the charm is eating in your car, just like the old days. If you prefer to sit outside, they’ve got tables under a canopy, making it a perfect pit stop whether you’re a local or just passing through on I-35. The Food: Burgers Done Right Cupp’s keeps it simple, and that’s exactly why it’s legendary. Their burgers are everything you want in a classic Texas burger—grilled to perfection, juicy, and stacked with fresh toppings. The bun? Soft, slightly toasted, and just the right amount of buttery. The cheese melts beautifully over the patty, and the crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes give it that fresh crunch that balances out the richness. And let’s talk about the fries—because these aren’t your standard, out-of-the-bag, frozen fries. These are hand-cut, golden, crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside fries that you can tell were made with care. They come served up in a paper-lined basket, just the way they should be. Why Cupp’s Is a Waco Institution Located just minutes from Baylor University, Cupp’s has been a go-to for students, locals, and even travelers making their way between Dallas and Austin. It’s also a favorite among visitors who come to Waco for Magnolia Market, proving that even in a city known for HGTV-famous attractions, an old-school burger joint still reigns supreme. This is the kind of place where time slows down, where food is made the way it should be, and where every bite takes you back to a time when burgers and fries weren’t just meals—they were experiences. Final Verdict: 5 Stars, No Question If you’re in Waco and you haven’t been to Cupp’s, you’re missing out. It’s not just a restaurant—it’s a piece of Waco history. Whether you’re a burger purist, a fry fanatic, or just looking for a no-nonsense, perfectly cooked meal, Cupp’s Drive-In delivers. Friendly people, unbeatable flavors, and an atmosphere that feels like home. Final Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Must-Order: Cheeseburger and hand-cut fries Best Seat: Your car or a table under the canopy Vibe: Classic diner, no frills, all flavor Would I Go Back? In a heartbeat.

We found this place on google looking for a good burger in Waco and man we sure found it. They welcomed us in and made us feel like home. We had a stroller with us in this very small restaurant which is really not stroller accessible and they took time to make room for us to be seated comfortably. They Checked on us frequently and the food came out fast. Everything we had was delicious hot and fresh. The staff worked as a team to make sure everyone’s experience was enjoyable. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a small old school burger joint!

This is by far one of the best restaurants in the area. I have recently located to the area, and found this place. This is one of my hideaway places to go when I need a break. The staff is super friendly all the time and know you by name, food is absolutely the best made to order when you order it. NOTHING is pre made!! This place is always filled with friendly hungry people, who are the regulars.

Cups Drive Inn has made a lot of Waco history since 1929. This legendary diner is a Clean Plate Award recipient from KWTX-TV, the CBS television network affiliate for the Waco area. Many changes over the years have taken place, but still the owner and staff are committed to a truly great experience for customers. I like their hamburgers because the bun is toasted well, and the burger patty is seasoned and grilled until it is medium well to well done, but still is juicy and not dry. The quality of toppings like pickles and lettuce is also great. All food is made fresh and on an as ordered basis. Their French fries are made from fresh potatoes cut right in the restaurant, that are rinsed in water to wash them and remove starch. Then they are deep fried and prepared like Boardwalk style fries, which are not crispy fries, but have a fairly firm outer shell, and have a soft mashed potato like inside. They are then seasoned with their special French fry seasoning. This style of fries is my favorite. The portion of fries is a reasonable size as well, served in a paper lined basket. Sorry that I have no pictures of my order. I did include, as of this posting, the most recent menu for you to see ahead of time. Definately will be glad to return to Cups when I go to Waco again. You can get a burger and fries at a similar price to a Wendy's burger and fries, but get a better value at Cups Drive inn.

My husband and I stopped by and decided to get burgers and fries, and I couldn’t resist getting cheese fries too. The food was absolutely amazing, and it’s no surprise the place was packed when we got there and still buzzing when we left. My burger was so juicy and flavorful, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The only thing I’d say is the space felt a little tight with so many people inside, but that’s just a sign of how popular it is. We really enjoyed our meal, and if we’re ever in the area again, we’ll definitely be back!
K K — Google review
Great burgers, real potato fries and onion rings like you’d stepped back into the 50s. No phony frills, just great food and big portions. We live an hour away from Waco, and whenever we visit just can’t waste time on any other burger in town.
Jerry M — Google review
The folks working there were friendly, helpful, and just plain nice people. Unfortunately, this did not compensate for the food or environment. There is a fine line between vintage and old, and cupps is in desperate need of an update inside (or at least a good scrub down). The patties are bought premade, and no seasoning is added. Cupp's, whizzbangs, and dubl-r are all very similar, and I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. Try Tom's Burgers, Burgertology, or even Health Camp.

Revival Eastside Eatery is a stylish dining spot housed in a former church, offering locally sourced burgers, salads, and sandwiches alongside a selection of wine and beer. The restaurant prides itself on its historic charm and Biblical-themed menu items such as the Old Pestoment sandwich and the Garden of Eating salad. Additionally, visitors can enjoy homemade aioli on Tuesdays through Fridays. For breakfast options, Street Dog Cafe offers scratch-made pastries and daily specials in a pet-friendly environment.
Stumbled upon this place while visiting Waco for the day. It was away from the popular market area, but worth the short drive. Service was amazing from the time we walked in, during the meal, and even on the way out. Server was very helpful in giving some recommendations. Everything on the menu sounded good. Ordered a burger, salad, and sweet potato fries. Food was just as good as the service. Burger was perfectly put together and plated. Bun was very soft and fresh. I definitely have to come back to try some of the other burgers, sandwiches, and salads.

This is a great find on the east side of Waco. I never knew there was so much happening over on that side of town. The eatery is beautifully set up and the food is amazing. Minus a few stars only because it does get very loud inside the restaurant. Either way I will recommend this to my friends and we will be back.

My son and I came here for lunch June 19th. Most of the seating was taken but we sat on the huge bar facing out the window. It was our first time here and was very pleasant. Fast service welcomed us, got our drinks and food. Food and pricing were great. This is a great spot and well worth eating here.

Place was packed and we waited less than 15 min for a table. The food we ordered took about 15 min to arrive, the servers were friendly and they had multiple people for refills. We ordered 2 custom burgers with veggie patty and one weight of glory (portobello mushroom burger) and technicolor dreamcoat sandwich (sweet potato and pickled beets filling) which were excellent. The food was good and the place was excellent to visit with friends.

Arrived about 1230 for a late lunch with a group. Ended up sitting at a hightop with six other men and started perusing the menu. Good selection and diverse offerings. Due to personal preferences, I went with a build your own burger and it came out perfectly. I had several refills of the house cola and the wait staff was attentive and responsive. The room was quite loud for a private conversation but in our group setting it worked ok. The place was full with several tables of our group sitting outside. Would recommend an early seating during lunch hour and I highly recommend the food. Everyone at our table was very complementary about the food. Kudos to the young lady clearing and cleaning tables, she was on point and focused, timely and turned them over promptly. Highly recommend for a visit if you are in the Waco area.

When we got there it was around 2pm on a Saturday. We had to wait if we did not want to sit outside, but I’m happy we waited it out because holy moly!! The food was so freaking good! Too bad we are not closer, but will not always be a stop when passing through from Houston!

The Holy Grail Is Real—and It’s Got Fries on the Side Revival Eastside Eatery | Waco, TX | 5 Stars They call it the Holy Grail, and after one bite, I understood why. This burger didn’t come to play—it came to preach. Juicy, flavorful, anchored by peppery arugula and creamy cheese, hugged between what I’m certain is a toasted brioche bun. Not too thick. Not too soft. Just enough to remind you: balance is holy. But the Holy Grail doesn’t walk alone. It comes with Holy Grail Fries, crisped at the edges, golden through the middle, salted just right. If I have one suggestion for Revival, it’s this: leave the ketchup packets to the drive-thrus. These fries deserve a ramekin. Dignify the dip. Now the dessert—this one surprised me. A mint chocolate chip mousse so light and airy, it nearly floated off the spoon. Drizzled with chocolate, sprinkled with Oreo crumbles, and topped with a mint Oreo, it was exactly the kind of portion and flavor a good meal deserves to end on. Sweet, cool, elegant, and restrained. My drink of choice: a chilled Maine Root soda, full-bodied and smooth. It paired with everything like it had rehearsed for the role. But this isn’t just about the food. Revival tells a story. Danielle and Travis Young didn’t grow up in restaurants. Danielle is a Baylor-educated clinical psychologist. Travis was in education. One night in 2017, they couldn’t find a local spot that was both fresh and soulful. So they asked a bold question: How hard could it be to open a restaurant? Hard. But they did it anyway. They found a long-abandoned church building on Elm Avenue and turned it into Revival. Not just in name, but in spirit. The menu leans into biblical wordplay—the Holy Grail burger, the Weight of Glory sandwich, the Technicolor Dreamcoat, the Garden of Eating salad. It’s cheeky, sure. But it’s also reverent. The inside is rustic-modern: exposed brick, real wood, soft light. It feels honest, grounded, and warm. Ordering is done at the table, with QR codes and friendly, present staff who seem genuinely glad to be there. It’s not performative. It’s personal. The outside patio is an open invitation—picnic tables under wide skies, next to a vibrant mural that welcomes you to East Waco like a hometown chorus. Revival didn’t just move in. It rooted. It respected the neighborhood, listened to the stories, and answered with presence. And that’s why this isn’t just another burger joint. It’s a declaration. Revival doesn’t beg for attention. It earns it—bite by bite, story by story. From the Golden Calf burger to the mousse that tastes like a whispered hallelujah, this is a restaurant that remembers why people gather around food in the first place. Five stars. No notes. Come hungry—and come ready to call it by name: The Holy Grail.
Rick B — Google review
Nice no frills atmosphere with clean decor. I like the theme here. The food is above average in taste with average portion sizes. Staff generally seems happy to be there. I think they would save on a lot of refill labor if they switched to 16 oz cups over 12 oz ones currently in use. Let's be honest, a 12 oz cup filled 70% with ice won't hold a lot of tea before it looks like it needs to be topped off. The staff is very attentive to your refill needs though!

Vitek's BBQ is a renowned local landmark in Waco, Texas, known for its classic Texas BBQ and signature dish called the Gut Pack. Operating for over 100 years, this establishment has evolved from a grocery shop and meat market to a beloved barbecue restaurant. The Gut Pack, featuring corn chips, slow-roasted brisket with beans, cheese, onions, and jalapenos (with optional sausage), is a must-try.
We have eaten here many times and the brisket is always great. But, we recently had them cater a lunch for a family get together. Brisket, sausage, coleslaw, beans, potato salad, mac n' cheese. It was the best they ever made of everything! Everyone commented on how good it was. And the service was amazing! We changed the time of pick up twice and they didn't mind a bit. They were extremely busy that day (BU graduation) and got our order perfect! Thank you Vitek’s!

I heard about this place from the locals and decided to give it a try. First, let me say that this place closes early, so make sure to plan accordingly. I ordered the full "PORK GUT PACK," which comes with brisket, sausage, cheese, jalapeños, fritos, and other toppings to your liking. The food was decent, I would like more flavor as the meats didn't have that smokey bbq flavor I was looking for. Pretty decent portions what you paid for. All in all, I recommend at least giving this place a try if you're looking for some BBQ.

Yummo! The beef brisket was so tasty, the coleslaw had a great flavor. The star of the show was the Mac and cheese! Wowww that cheese sauce would make anything taste good. Next time I think I just need a gallon or so of that Mac and cheese lol. Employees were super nice, the meals are fairly priced. Will definitely be back every time I go through Waco!

We went here for dinner at around 7pm. They close at 8pm so we went in expecting the meats to be a little dry. When we got there it was really busy. There’s was a line to order but it went by pretty quick. All the tables and booths were taken up luckily one opened up when we were ready to sit. I think this place wants to maximize the amount of people that can dine but all the tables sit 4-8 people or more. Most groups were 2 people so the 2 people would take up an entire booth designed for 6 people or more. I would recommended Viteks to get more 2 people sittings. The food was in fact a little dry but it was still really good. The flavor was great and I know if I return it’ll be during the lunch meal and I can have higher expectations on the freshness. I recommend going early since when we went they were almost running out of brisket, they were out of ribs, and green beans. So the earlier the better. The Mac n cheese was amazing though. Everything tasted great. I feel if I went there at 11am it would easily get 5 stars.
Evan B — Google review
Prices where fair. I bought half pound of brisket and 1 pound of ribs. They gave me way too much food. Im not sure if it's standard or that man is mad at the owner. Anyways I liked it and will be back.

I was in Waco for an event and this place was recommended by a co-worker. The place has been in business since 1915 so you know they've been consistently good for a while. I tried a bit of everything and still had enough to bring leftovers for the wifey. One of their signature items is called the "Gut Pack" which comes in a full/half order, I did the 1/2. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious and had a great flavor. The brisket and turkey were both moist and flavorful. The 3 cheese mac and cheese side dish is a must if you're a mac fan. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Great customer service, staff knows the menu well and gives great suggestions. We loved that they have half portions if you are watching what you eat or want to try a bit of everything, we got a full order of Nachos with a sub for Brisket instead of pull pork, chose sour cream, Pico de Gallo and beans on the side (for picky eaters), a half order of the gut pak, a turkey sandwich (the pepper on the bark is spicy so watch out for the kids) all delicious and saucy.

I never make reviews on places but this is terrible. The renewed menu items are terrible, all of the food came out room temp not even warm. The server was awesome! But the food was a nightmare to say the least. Got the spicy chicken and mac and cheese and 90% of the chicken was breading. What chicken was there was probably 1/6 of an actual chicken breast that was clearly hammered flat to look bigger. Paid 70$ for me and my girlfriend to eat here and left upset on how bad the food here was. We also got the French onion soups and it looked absolutely sad and tasted as bad as it looked. 10/10 do NOT recommend the food here

Walked in great atmosphere. However took several minutes for the hostess to even acknowledge us. She then had to find menus. The table was sticky. Was informed of our waiter and he would be by to get orders. Waiter finally came by to acknowledge us about 10 minutes later. Took drink order (beer on tap and a double shot, no mixed drinks) and a pop. Came back about 10 minutes later with pop and water said bar tender is still "working on our drinks" beer came out warm. Took order for food and that was the last time we saw our waiter till we asked for the check. Food was brought out by another waitress. Ordered the Peanut butter bacon burger and tots, friend got 10 wings and fries. All the food was room temp at best. The fries looked limp and the wings were dried out. It was like watching someone eat beef jerky. My tots were cold and greasy like they had sat, not even under a warmer. The waiter FINALLY acknowledged us when we asked for the check and asked if everything was ok. We told him no, the beer was warm and the food was cold. He said "sorry about that" and that was it. when he brought the check he stood and waited for my friend to pull out his card... was the most we saw the waiter. Won't be back. Poor food and service. Was super disappointed.

We picked a busy weekend to come here. It was Baylor move in weekend AND a sold out concert that brought 40,000 people into Waco. Understandably the wait was long. Colin came in on his day off and was hosting AND serving a large section. As a host he kept us informed as to the wait time and the reason. Once seated his attention to our party of 6 was prompt and transparent. The food was great and the service was better. Colin encouraged us to take the wait and his service made it worth it. Thank you Colin.

Amazing service, cozy vibe, and a hidden gem on the menu! DiamondBack’s was an awesome experience from start to finish. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is warm, elegant, and perfect for a special night out. But the real star? The Fried Lobster! It’s not on the menu, but if you ask for it—you’re in for a treat. Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend giving it a try if you’re in Waco!

Addie T was our server and couldn’t be more delightful! Made excellent recommendations and everything was delicious! We enjoyed the Downtown Waco sushi as an app. Off menu filet and ribeye were cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The bartender suggested a local whiskey that my husband really liked and a red wine that went great with my steak. I was able to add the burrata to my filet and it was also very good. No complaints. Quiet and well appointed dining area in historic building with charming touches. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice dining experience. Walking distance from Hilton.

Ridiculous. This used to be our favorite place in Waco, a spot we never missed whenever we were in town. We always brought our son and his friends here and had planned to bring 16 family members for his graduation dinner. After this last experience, we will never go back. The food was good, but absolutely not worth what they are charging. The service was fine, but nowhere near the level you’d expect at the prices they command. And the drink prices? Outright insulting. $30 for a Grey Goose on the rocks (a double) — when even in New York City’s most expensive steakhouses, a double costs $24. For Waco, Texas, it’s indefensible. It’s clear they are taking advantage of Baylor families and out-of-town visitors who don’t know better. That kind of price gouging completely overshadows anything positive about the food or the atmosphere. We left disgusted and disappointed. What was once a family tradition has turned into a money grab with no sense of value or fairness. They’ve lost loyal customers for good — and anyone else considering it should think twice before wasting their money.

We were really excited to take my husband here for his birthday. His sister and her boyfriend even flew in from the West Coast, and we were all looking forward to trying this place after I found it online — it had great reviews, so I thought it would be a wonderful experience. I made our reservation a week in advance, but when we arrived, the hostess at the counter was training, so we had to wait a few minutes for our table. No big deal, but then another staff member came up and said she needed to get our table ready — which was confusing since that’s the whole point of making a reservation. Still, we didn’t let that bother us. When we were finally seated, they asked if our reservation was for five people (it wasn’t — it was for four). Our waiter came by and asked for our drink orders, but we couldn’t find drinks on the menu. I mentioned we’d never been there before, and he said the drink list was on the iPad. He was very short and not at all personable — maybe he was having an off day, but it definitely affected the experience. I noticed the table behind us also mentioned they were new, and their waiter was amazing — he explained everything, even showed them the cuts of steak. Unfortunately, we didn’t get that kind of service. Three of us ordered the seared scallops — big mistake. They were overcooked, chewy, and so salty it actually burned your throat. I couldn’t even finish one. The dish came with four scallops, and I barely managed half of one. Another staff member came by and asked how our meals were — I told him they were terrible, and he just walked away without saying a word. My sister-in-law said her tempura roll was good, at least. The bread, however, had a burnt flavor. I don’t mind paying for quality when both the food and service are worth it, but unfortunately, neither was. For a $400 bill, we expected a much better experience.

My wife and I went there for our 20 year anniversary and they had a rose on and a hand written note on an Anniversary card on our table. Sara our waitress was the best. The food was superb and cooked with perfection. My first Tomahawk steak and it won't be my last. Thank you for making our anniversary special without our knowing. Thank you again Sara

The best place to have a date night in Waco. From arrival, the staff were friendly and attentive. The host was welcoming and set us up with the perfect seat per our needs. Our server, Jasmine, was fantastic. She never missed a beat explaining the menu and building history. The beverage selection is viewable on a tablet device provided when you sit. They offer wine flights, glasses, and bottles. They also have some amazing craft cocktails.we opted for a bottle of red blend. We started with Lobster appetizer. It was good, buttery garlic cheesy good. but I will try something different next time. Our next course was house salad and lobster bisque. Both were a must try! Delicious. And for a bread, they have the most amazing popovers. These were a 5-star attraction on their own butter flaky crossaint like cheese and rosemary. We ordered the chef selection petit filet and trio of filet. Both Steaks were cooked to perfection, the miso glazed salmon was perfectly cooked, and most. We ordered the bacon Brussel sprouts as a side, and the portion was huge. For dessert, we had the butterscotch creme Brule with coffee. It was light and hit the sweet tooth just right. And the coffee they are using is perfectly brewed. The manager Michael came to visit us and was a great host. Made us feel very welcome in his establishment.

The Olive Branch is a popular spot in Waco, known for its relaxed atmosphere and delicious American breakfast and lunch options. The lofted dining room is a favorite among locals, especially during the weekends when they flock to enjoy brunch specials like eggs sardou, breakfast skillets, chicken biscuit sandwiches, pastas, and salads. The restaurant also offers affordable carafes of mimosas to complement the hearty fare.
Never been here before but heard good things. First of all I was greeted at the door with a smile which is rare these days. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Quick service too. My server Tori was awesome in recommending food and very knowledgeable about the dishes. One of the owners asked of if I was being cared for, she was also sweet. Food was definitely delicious and it was plentiful. I ordered the steak and eggs with potatoes. The chimichurri sauce was a perfect addition. Steak chunks were tender!

We went for the first time on Mother's Day. Plenty of parking, and it looked great. Lots of seating as you wait for your table. We were told 45 minutes for the wait, which was fine for that day. We were seated within 30 minutes. I will say they have a poor choice in chairs, very uncomfortable. Our waiter did a poor job, we were pretty sure he was new, so we weren't too upset. The food, however, was delicious. My husband had the brisket bowl (I can't remember the name) and I had the shrimp and grits. I was getting lots of gumbo vibes from the grits but the sausage was sweeter than I was expecting. We definitely plan on coming back!

friendly service and delicious food today! i had the brisket skillet (pictured) and my husband had the shrimp and grits which he really enjoyed. wait time can tend to be longish but so worth it - it’s likely because people know this is one of the best places in waco to eat! we will be back again!

Customer service was great but the food was just okay. We really enjoyed the biscuits and variety of fruit spreads they provided, however the main dishes that we chose were not impressive.

Let me just start by saying this—if The Olive Branch gets five stars from me today, it’s not because they dazzled me with their cinnamon sugar wizardry or blew my mind with an avant-garde avocado toast arrangement. No. This five-star rating rides on the back of one person: Tatiana. More on her in a second. Let’s rewind. I walked in thinking I might go full throttle—house-smoked brisket burrito, big breakfast energy, maybe even add some sweet on the side. But something told me to keep it lighter. And I’m glad I did. Because while the menu leans Texas-sized, my stomach was whispering minimalist gospel this morning. The Order: • Avocado Toast – Smashed avocado layered on wheat toast, topped with sunny-side up eggs, marinated tomatoes, microgreens, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. • Cinnamon Biscuit Bites – Fried biscuit chunks, cinnamon sugar, vanilla glaze. • Coffee – Straightforward, dark, and hot. • Orange Juice – A full glass, and then some. Let’s talk flavor. The avocado toast was clean, thoughtful, and well-balanced. The eggs were cooked just right, the yolks warm and golden. The tomatoes popped with acidity. The glaze added that sweet-tangy lift, and the microgreens? That’s where the dish showed some class. Nothing overcomplicated, just intentional. The kind of plate that lets your senses stretch slowly into the day. Now, the cinnamon biscuit bites? Beautiful to look at. Honestly, they should hang this skillet on the wall as art. But one bite in, and I knew I was in trouble. It was like being hugged by a sugar-coated sumo wrestler. Way too much. Way too sweet. I expected a nibble situation—something like four to six bites. Instead, they brought out a cast iron cauldron of dessert. I ordered it, so that’s on me. But no human should face that much glaze without a support group. The coffee hit the mark. Nothing fancy, no third-wave pretension—just a solid cup of comfort. I needed that balance after fighting the sugar avalanche. As for the juice—let’s just say I ordered a drink and got a whole orchard. Fresh, cold, good… and way more than I wanted. Waco does not play about portions. Atmosphere? Rustic-meets-industrial. Spacious. Clean lines. Brick and wood. Soft lighting. TVs in the back if you need some casual noise. Plenty of elbow room, which is rare and welcome. But none of that—none of it—would have stuck in my memory without Tatiana. She didn’t just show up with a smile. She arrived. Introduced herself. Warm, polite, completely unforced. The kind of presence that makes you feel human again in a world full of transactional interactions. I’ve had $200 meals in big cities that didn’t come with service that kind. She didn’t hover, didn’t rush, just existed in that perfect sweet spot of attentiveness and space. That’s why I’m giving five stars. If Tatiana hadn’t been there? Four. Easy. The cinnamon bites alone would’ve knocked a star off. That’s not a breakfast item—that’s a wedding cake’s evil cousin. But Tatiana raised the curve. She was the curve. So here it is: The Olive Branch isn’t perfect. The portions are big enough to scare a lumberjack. The sweet options could use a tone-down. And Waco, as a whole, seems to believe every breakfast should feed a family of four. But if you’re lucky enough to get Tatiana as your server, that meal’s going to hit different. It’s going to feel like it matters. And that’s worth five stars.

We first met The Olive Branch at an on-campus event, and the food was so good we just had to track it down. Our second date, however, was a bit of a marathon. Our weekend lunch party of three was seated right away, which was a great start! But then, we played the waiting game. It took 15 minutes to get menus, and then almost 50 more for our plates to finally make an appearance. Thankfully, the sandwiches and fries were hot and delicious. The salad, on the other hand, was an unremarkable third wheel.

Stopped in for brunch and it was fantastic. I had the Farmers Hash and it hit the spot. I noticed so many other dishes being served around me that I would love to come back and try, too. Service was great and coffee was excellent! There’s a reason there was a short wait for a table! Highly recommend.

Cajun Craft is a laid-back eatery located near downtown Waco and Baylor University, offering a blend of Cajun classics and Vietnamese-inspired dishes. The restaurant's owner, Kimberly Bui, infuses her Vietnamese heritage into the menu to create a unique Viet-Cajun culinary experience. In addition to traditional Cajun fare like crawfish and fried chicken, the restaurant also serves authentic Vietnamese items such as pho noodles, fried spring rolls, and rice noodle bowls.
**⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars All Around!** From the moment we stepped through the doors of *Cajun Craft*, we were welcomed with the kind of warm, genuine southern hospitality that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff are incredibly friendly and charming, creating an inviting atmosphere that’s both clean and stylish—modern with just the right touch of country chic. Honestly, there's not a bad seat in the house. Now let’s talk about the food—because wow. Everything is made fresh and tastes just like a home-cooked meal in the absolute best way. You can truly tell each dish is made with care and love. I ordered the **shrimp basket**, and it did *not* disappoint. The shrimp were jumbo-sized, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly satisfying. The basket came with **the best fries I’ve ever had** and delicious hush puppies that were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I also got a side of **red beans and rice**, which looked almost too pretty to eat and tasted just as amazing as it looked. My friend had the **fried catfish basket**, which came with the same golden fries and hush puppies, and he also ordered a side of **fried chicken**. Let me tell you—his first bite was movie-worthy. It was so crunchy and crispy you could *hear* the perfection. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the consistency across all the dishes really shows how much pride they take in their cooking. But what really sets Cajun Craft apart is the **customer service**. The entire staff was attentive and kind, and one sweet employee even gifted my 1-year-old a little pack of toy cars—completely unexpected, but incredibly thoughtful. If you haven’t tried this place yet, do yourself a favor and go. I’m officially hooked and can honestly say *Cajun Craft* is now the only place I want to buy my seafood from.

The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but surprisingly nice inside and has a welcoming atmosphere. I love the outdoor seating option and the food looks great. My only complaint would be the pricing, but then, who knows what it's costing them to operate in today's market. I ordered the seafood platter fish shrimp & oysters( I requested to substitute the oysters, so the doubled the shrimp) with 2 sides of red beans and rice. I almost left without looking, I'm glad I didn't. I had to order an extra piece of fish ($5) and cocktail/tarter sauce.(,50¢ each) I came in with 40.00 and I'm leaving with $2.85. this seems a bit high for the portions given. Aside from this , I think it's a great place.

This was some of the best chicken I have ever had. Out of the four states I’ve lived in the 10 I have visited, this was the most tender and juiciest ever! The red beans and rice was so delicious and the shrimp po boy was delicious! I plan to bring my family next time they visit us!

What A Place! We had the crawfish etouffe, red beans and rice, chicken, sausage and shrimp gumbo, and it was amazing! We finished everything off with traditional bread pudding, my daughter's first time trying it, and it too was spectacular!

Red beans and rice was excellent with okra just right to season. Catfish was fresh and beautiful golden crust. Some of the best coleslaw I have had in a long time, glad I added it for $1. Great food and nice vibe. Attentive service from staff and we even got to ask the cook about the dishes. If in Waco you need to stop. Weekly specials as well just in case that's a plus for you.

It started out not so hot but got 5star better. The view from the street is not impressive. Parking is kinda miss configured as is the dining area, but I did give it 5 stars. Why? food was absolutely incredible!! the perfect way to end our anniversary trip. i am not a fan of mayo at all but the crawfish poutine was absolutely to die for. every bite was packed with flavor and you could feel the passion coming from each dish. the trio was a fantastic sampler of their gumbo, etouffe, and red beans and rice. the nutella bread pudding was the perfect ending to the meal, and a wonderful treat. not to mention, the staff were wonderfully kind and the owner checked up on us multiple times to make sure we were enjoying everything. considering planning another trip to waco just to get another bite!

OMG!! 😍😍😍BABY!! First of all I have never had seasoned hush puppies they were so flavorful. They were also piping hot, which is exactly how I like my food!💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 we also tried the bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos. I don't usually prefer things wrapped in bacon because the bacon is sometimes soggy, this was certainly not the case. And last but not least that catfish over the two mounds of rice with crawfish etouffee ABSOLUTELY mouth-watering❤️❤️❤️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Chi-Chi our server was memorable I won't soon forget him😉 he took great care of us.

Absolutely amazing! We are visiting Waco from Lexington,NC and wanted to go to an Italian restaurant for our wedding anniversary. From not knowing much and just reading the menu we were excited! Little did we know the experience there was going to be amazing! The staff is so quick and helpful! The food was outstanding! My husband had the tenderloin and he said it was the most tender one he has ever had! I had the Gnocchi Sorletina and added shrimp completely amazing! Several times during and when we left Massimo came by and checked on us and thanked us for coming! If this place wasn’t 18 hrs away for us we would be regulars!

Food was great, i had pasta and asked to make it aldente, and they did it! Almost. The server was nice and paid a lot of attention without beeing too invasive, and that’s not guaranteed most of the time. Atmosphere was nice, the location is clean and good looking. All the staff was nice actually and very welcoming. I recommend this place if you want to have a nice dinner date. I would say it’s among the very small Percentage of really good places. Had such a wonderful dinner here! Had no expectations going in and was so happy about how all our dishes turned out. Leslie was so so friendly, helpful and attentive! We ordered the beef carpaccio, chicken marsala, pasta pomodoro, the salmon with pea and asparagus risotto, and pistachio tiramisu. Everything was made to perfection with the standout dish being the pasta pomodoro. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was plate-licking delicious! Barbecue restaurant
Jasper's BBQ is a laid-back, counter-serve eatery in Waco that has been serving up Texas-style BBQ meats and sandwiches since 1919. The restaurant remains true to its original methods, with fresh barbecued meats served in butchers paper and traditional gravy and hot sauce recipes. This family-owned establishment offers mouthwatering smoked meats such as pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and smoked chicken along with scrumptious sides.
This is a must go to for BBQ!! The chopped brisket was so tender and flavorful. The chicken was juicy and filling. The price is very fair and I recommend to bring cash for the discount. They have Gravy!!! So hospitable and I suggest you tip because the service is very down to earth. I will definitely come again.

Jasper’s is a local favorite. It serves great BBQ. The stars are the brisket and ribs. My usual is the full order (1/2 lb) with brisket and sausage. The gravy, similar to an au jus, has great flavor. I’m pretty sure you could make a meal out of dipping white bread in the gravy! Sides and desserts always look great but I gorge myself on the meat and never make it that far. The real treat at Jasper’s is the staff though! They are incredibly nice and service is top notch!

I love Jasper's Bar-B-Q for so many reasons. This place has been around for so long! It's been around since before I was born. My grandparents would take my mom when she was a kid. My mom and grandparents would take me as a kid, and now that I'm older, I'm bringing myself here! The people that work here are so nice and welcoming. The bbq here is very good!! It still taste the same as I remembered it from when I was a kid. I would usually get a plate, but this time I got a sliced brisket sandwich, and I feel like I should've ordered two!! It was so smoky and tender! You can tell they take their time and put love into the food. I recommend this place because it's a Waco classic, all of their bbq is good, and you can eat in with your family or yourself and enjoy all of the Waco milestones on the wall.

We were travelling from Austin to Fort Worth, had a hankerin for some BBQ. Chose Jasper's as the reviews were good and it looked like the kind of local place we love. We were not disappointed. Everyone was super friendly and the food was fantastic. We had the Taste of Jaspers to share and it was the perfect amount for lunch. Brisket is juicy and tender, ribs were amazing and the sausages were bursting with flavour. Top tip, GET THE GRAVY. Its what us Brits call proper gravy, all the meat juices reduced down into a really punchy brown gravy. Yummy.

Best BBQ in town. Thank you for holding it down! Went a few blocks over one day with the guys from work because yal were closed that Monday for holiday. And the BBQ felt like it came straight out the microwave. Lol just sad Keep making the best BBQ in Waco. And we'll keep on coming!

While passing through Waco, I happened to stumble on this small and family owned BBQ Restruant. The meat is high quality and decent for the price. Their sausages were what stuck out to me as the most flavorful and highest quality when compared to the others. If you're a fan of meat or BBQ in general, then come here! The employees are very friendly and funny too! However, the place takes the rustic look to a whole new level since it was pretty dirty.

Old school feel and the the great service that comes with it. Got a taste of Jaspers to try what they had. Was the perfect size for the two of us. The gentleman giving us sides was so kind and made sure we had what we needed to enjoy our meal. I keep thinking of the sausage and brisket weeks later. Wish I didn’t live states away otherwise would go again, and again. We also went to a hyped up place in Dallas and the food was not the same caliber especially for the price. Highly recommend eating here.

Guess Family Barbecue is a laid-back eatery that offers classic barbecue dishes like steak and sausages, perfect for take-out or a leisurely weekend brunch. The establishment is part of the Southern Roots Brewery, which was established in Texas with a focus on southern hospitality, family values, and great craft beer. The brewery's journey began with home brewing as a hobby and eventually led to the creation of their debut beer lineup in 2018.
I am from Kansas City (a city known for good bbq) and wanted to try some Texas barbecue while in Waco. I looked through reviews and decided to try Guess Family (partially because they were open on Sunday). Based on reviews tried the Frito Pie with Pulled Pork as the brisket was sold out. It did not disappoint. I will have to go back and try other options when passing through Waco again.

Guess Family Barbecue has been a place I've wanted to try for awhile. The people working there were amazing and nice. It was my first time there so I got the 2 meat plate with brisket, sausage, potato salad, and the green chili Mac and cheese. The food wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted out of BBQ. The Mac and Cheese was amazing in my opinion. I've heard that the brunch is amazing and that they have some great sandwiches. I look forward to going back to try those things, but for regular BBQ I think there are better places.

Great downtown Waco BBQ spot! Top 50 BBQ in Texas, so yeah that definitely says something. The Smash burger was super good, great sauce, premium bun, and super crispy waddle fries! I love the decor in the restaurant tons of western themed items. There was a wall of vinyl country records, a pool table, darts, a big bar, and plenty of seating. The restaurant also had nice big windows for great natural light! Definitely grab a lone star and enjoy the food!

Nestled in bear country in Waco, TX sits this cozy BBQ joint that has the pleasure of being a Texas Monthly Top 50. Atmosphere - has that rustic yet newer style look of a BBQ restaurant. Wide open space of seating makes the establishment look large. Plenty of TVs around to catch up on sports. Food - the brisket had a nice smoke ring and was juicy. Tasty bark. The sausage was my favorite part. Big chunks of creamy cheese and chipotle, however not spicy. Which is fine by me since I will sweat with little spice. Surprised to see collard greens on the menu over green beans. Green beans seem to be a staple amongst BBQ restaurants in Texas. The collard greens were wonderful. Not bland. Seasoned well.

Stopped in here for a quick to go bite. They were sold out of most everything closer to the end of their business day. I got the Smashburger, which was very good and the meat blend they used I really liked. I personally didn’t care for their seasoning on it, it was strange but I still found it to be delicious and a classic simple burger! The cheesy grits are the best I’ve ever had. Must try! The potato salad is very good And the turkey is the enjoyable standard fare The interior is very nice. And the parking lot is good and easy to get into. The 4 stars is because the chairs inside were not fat friendly or even medium sized friendly. You would not be comfortable sitting inside here unless you can fit the width of their chairs as the top curves in and corners poke you in the back. Bad move picking these chairs considering their target audience. They do have benches so that is an option! Additionally they were sold out of everything on their menu besides turkey and the burger 2 hours before closing. I understand BBQ restaurants needs to not have lots of waste, however 2 hours before closing is more poor planning than a cost cutting measure. I’d definitely come back to try the rest of their food.

Guess is located near the older downtown area of Waco. It's easy to find and has plenty of parking. They have a good bit of seating, but it can fill up. We started coming by for brunch the second weekend they began and came frequently thereafter; however, we had not been back for some time, because the bartender was a bit off-putting regarding a to-go food order on our last visit. We decided to bring my my future son-in-law by for Sunday brunch. He's also a barbecue lover and had never been here before. He really enjoyed each of his choices, particularly the ribs! We had a wide variety of items between the four of us and everything was a hit. My moist brisket, pork ribs, and chipotle cheddar sausage were all excellent! My daughter's brisket melt certainly looked great and she confirmed it. My wife's favorite is the pulled pork sandwich. We honestly didn't have a bad thing. I do wish they still had collard greens though. All washed down with tasty mimosas! Also, the cashier was helpful and friendly, and stamped happily stamped our Texas Monthly Barbecue Passports. This was a great visit!

First time trying Guess Family BBQ in Waco. Ordered the 3 meat with a side of burnt ends Wife got the loaded potato with pulled pork. 3 meats were Hot Link, pork ribs, Brisket Burt Ends we’re the stand out. Good flavor perhaps a little dry Sliced brisket. I asked for “moist” but received a cut from the flat that looked dry. Flavor again was good however the fat was not completely rendered and the meat was somewhat dry. Hot Link. Flavor was good with some heat and good snap. Pork Ribs. These fell flat. Small ribs cold and over cooked. Little meat. Tough to chew what meat there was. Loaded Potato. Was good but nothing special. The cheese sauce was bland. Sides Baked beans with brisket was good but needed more seasoning for my taste. Coleslaw was good with great texture and great flavor. Included with the meal were fresh sliced jalapeños, white onion and pickles. House bbq sauce is good with decent flavor.

Best bbq I had in a long time. Large pieces of pulled pork with little or no sauce. You can add sauce if you want. The beans where a little thick but still also very good.

Jakes Texas Tea House is a retro eatery in Waco, TX with a gas station theme and classic Southern cuisine. The veteran-owned restaurant offers hearty brunch options at great prices and provides stellar service in a cozy setting. The 50s-inspired diner-like atmosphere features quirky decor, including 1950s style cars and bright blue paintings on the walls.
The cafe is located in downtown of Waco and has its own parking lot for visitors. The unusual design of the cafe attracts visitors of different ages, it is interesting to visit both adults and children. For children, there is a small police car, which they can jump into for only 25 cents. The waiters were very friendly and served quickly, although there were a lot of people in the cafe. The food was very fresh and tasty, we were satisfied. If you are in Waco, then be sure to visit this cafe. I think you will be satisfied.

Fun retro diner with 50s car theme and candy colored leather booths. Their menu varies a bit between the week and Sunday but they're consistent with making Caesar salad table side and providing family style vegetable side dishes for the table. I especially enjoyed the chicken breast and creamed corn. The have booth, table, and bar seating in a large inside dining room as well as a few umbrella tables outside. There is street parking on surrounding blocks.

We headed here after visiting the Dr Pepper museum. We (3 seniors, 3 adults and our grandson) were greeted by the owner who took us straight to a table for 7. Our server was very friendly and efficient. The food was great and everyone got something they enjoyed. On our experience we would highly recommend. See the additional part regarding kid friendliness below.

Genuinely worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I am a 19 year old college student and they definitely took advantage of it. We went on a Sunday, and they have a different menu on Sunday. My sister and I asked to split an $18 chicken tender meal and the waitress said sure. Our bill ended up being $33 and we asked why. They had charged us for a random “veggie plate” and said anyone who eats has to be charged. We said we understood, but we split a meal. I only had a singular chicken tender and they charged us an addition $15. When we asked what the veggie plate was they couldn’t explain it to us. They just said they had to charge us for extra since we both ate food and it was policy. Both the manager and waitress were very rude to us and acted like we were dumb just for asking why they charged us. The manger continued to repeat “it’s on the menu sweetie just look at the menu.” So we looked at the menu after we left, and it wasn’t on the menu! I really feel like we were taken advantage of as young girls because we weren’t great at standing up for ourselves. The waitress also accidentally brought out an extra drink and I told her I would take it if she was just going to dump it, and they ended up charging us for that as well. They took it off very belligerently after this whole ordeal and acted like they did us a favor. Overall food was not amazing for the price, waitress and manager were pretty rude, and they only care about the money.

We had high hopes for this cute place convenient to downtown / the silos. Warning: steer clear of the chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and fries over. Fries pickles, BLT, and onion rings were standard but nothing special. Additionally, while the atmosphere is good with 50s decor, the benches are small, and ours was broken.

I recently visited Jake’s Texas Teahouse and tried a few of their offerings. The atmosphere is really charming, and the service was excellent—friendly and attentive throughout our meal. As for the food, I had the chicken fried steak with fries and fried okra. While the sides were tasty, the chicken fried steak wasn’t quite my favorite. I felt the gravy could use a little more flavor to complement the dish. On the bright side, I also had the Cadillac Melt with a Caesar salad, and it was pretty good! However, a touch of salt and pepper would have made it even better. The decor is cozy and nostalgic, filled with classic touches that create a welcoming, throwback vibe. It’s a great spot for families with kids and anyone who enjoys taking in some old-school charm while they dine. Overall, the dining experience was enjoyable thanks to the warm service and great atmosphere. I’m sure with a few small tweaks to the seasoning, this place will be even better!

I've visited a few local restaurants in Waco, and all of them were really good, I went here for lunch to see if I could keep up that streak, and this restaurant surely didn't break it. Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Me and my parents got rather basic meals, but even then, they were all really good. I recommend trying their more interesting foods though, I'm sure those are even better. I got the BLT, my mom got the regular burger, and my dad got a chicken sandwich, all came with a side of fries, for my meal I added some watermelon along with my side of fries as well. Everything tasted really fresh and was packed with flavor. The buns were toasted perfectly along with the meat, and the mayo and condiments were really good as well. My watermelon was pretty good too, I was expecting an average watermelon, but the freshness and the nice balance of sweetness and flavor made it a little extra special. The only thing I didn't enjoy as much were the fries. They were a little mushy but had a home style taste. I appreciated that it wasn't loaded with salt too, but I would've liked more seasoning on it. It's not enough to bring it down a star because I enjoyed it overall, including the meals. Definitely recommend the food. Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The waiters were nice and consistently checked up on us to see how we liked the food or if we needed anything else. It wasn't anything special, but it was great overall. The food came out pretty quickly, and we spent about 30 minutes in the restaurant, great service overall and there weren't any major problems Atmosphere ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I think an atmosphere deserves five stars when it's not just good, but great, and special in a way. This place had so much old fashioned detail and there was a lot to look at while you sat down. Something else I thought was neat was that there were notes inside the crevices in the brick wall of the restaurant. They each had a message inside to read and was something I distracted myself with while I waited for my food. Another cool detail was that the food was served in hubcaps, you can't tell with my pictures, since it was covered in food and was shown on the bottom of the plate. Overall, really awesome atmosphere and it wasn't too cramped either. I was really satisfied with this place overall. The atmosphere and the food is what made this place stand out among the rest. I wanted to try their pies but ended up being too full. That's something else this place is known for apparently. Props to the owner for a great restaurant!

Nestled within the popular Hotel Indigo in Waco, Brazos Bar & Bistro is a contemporary-casual dining venue that prides itself on serving locally sourced American cuisine and craft cocktails. Despite its name, this spot is not just a bar; it's also renowned for its exceptional breakfast and brunch offerings. With a chic and trendy ambiance, this bistro has gained recognition for its delicious brunch menu featuring simple yet beautifully presented tacos and delightful mimosas.
My husband and I had the street tacos and seafood linguine for the first time. We would highly recommend and go would there again. Shout out to Blake our server, he was great. Dim lighting was nice. It can be a little pricey. Btw, the water is filtered three times.

Restraint Be Damned — That Chocolate Cake Changed Everything. Brazos Bar & Bistro | Review I walked in expecting elegance—expecting restraint. I imagined small plates, refined flavors, and a slow dance of taste that knew exactly when to whisper and when to roar. For a moment, I thought I was right. The space? Slick. Airy. Like it knew what it was doing. Then came the avalanche. Let me take you through it. ⸻ Cocktail – Cowboy Manhattan A measured pour served in a chilled martini glass, punctuated by a mysterious black cherry (or was it an olive?). Not bad, but not memorable. The drink didn’t carry the weight of its name—it leaned more polite than rugged. But it got the job done. 3/5 ⸻ Starter – Stuffed Avocado This was the sleeper hit. Creamy Hass avocado, warm adobo chicken, cool pico, queso fresco—it was balanced. Flavorful. A textural masterpiece. The only mistake? It was built like an entrée. If I’d finished it, I wouldn’t have had room for the rest. As an appetizer, it was too much of a good thing. But still, 4.5/5 for flavor and surprise alone. ⸻ Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts Overcooked, oversauced, overwhelmed. It looked like the sprouts had been roasted, forgotten, then hastily rescued with a bath of sticky, cloying sauce. It didn’t cling—it drowned. There was no charred snap, no fresh nuttiness from the peanuts. Just heat and heaviness. 1.5/5 ⸻ Entrée – Bourbon Peach Chops Two giant pork chops—two—slathered with a handful of peach slices. Not sauce. Peaches. It looked more like Sunday supper for a group of six than a thoughtful plated dish. The garlic parmesan potatoes were a mystery lump in the middle, mistaken at first glance for a third chop. Over-portioned to the point of parody. Zero elegance. 2/5 ⸻ Redemption – The Chocolate Cake And just when I was ready to walk out with a clean-cut 3-star, in came the miracle. This cake didn’t ask for forgiveness. It demanded silence. A thick, moist brick of deep, dark chocolate, draped in glossy ganache, and topped with delicate shards—almost like cocoa glass. Every bite was rich but not cloying, bold but balanced. It didn’t just redeem the meal—it transcended it. This cake didn’t save the day—it became the day. 5/5. Easily. ⸻ Final Verdict: 4 Stars (Raised by Chocolate Grace) This place fumbled the promise of fine dining with oversized portions and careless presentation—but damn if that chocolate cake didn’t pull it from the fire. That and the avocado made the experience worth it—even if I had to dig through a mess to find the gold. Come for the cake. Stay for the avocado. Bring a friend to split everything else. Bon Appétit.

Located inside the hotel, it’s not a standalone restaurant. Service was great, seating was comfortable and he explained things on the menu we didn’t understand as a first time guest. The pork chops are AMAZING! They deserve five stars on their own. We went around 4pm and there was no big crowd which we preferred.

Pizza. Wings. Beer. And salads lol local craft beer as well as regional and your typical domestics. Slices of pizza are pretty large, a whole pizza comes in 2 sizes and can feed 3 adults (14")or 5 adults (20"). Location is incredible. On the ride, a deck that overhangs the river....absolutely fabulous location 🔥 you're almost a fool to NOT come here!

I wanted to go and have a nice steak and a great time. For starters, it was a nice bar and restaurant, I did my research and it was listed as a top ten places to eat in Waco. I would have to disagree. If you want to go and have a nice drink for a high price, this would be right up your alley. The drinks were good, don’t get me wrong, but that would be the only good thing about this place. We ordered the humus as a starter and it was pretty good. Their drink menu was pretty good, i will say that their blueberry mojito, strawberry summer and their margarita was top notch. We then ordered the potato gnocchi and I was in the mood for a steak, DO NOT go for their steak, you will be disappointed. The staff was friendly but when you ask for a steak medium well and extra seasoning and it comes out looking like they heated it up in the microwave and forgot to season it, well you’re getting a horrible steak, not even worthy of being called a steak. No lie, take a look for yourself…

We enjoyed avacado toast and Texas breakfast plate. Our plates were clean. It was busy, but the service was excellent. The night before, we also had a great experience at the bar. We will be back.

My family checked out Brazos Bar & Bistro for my Birthday. The ambiance was nice. Staff was attentive and food came out in a timely manner. For our starters we went with Green Chile Queso and Shishito Peppers. Both are great. My Barren of Mules was enjoyable and refreshing. My husband when with a stout from Barrow Brewing Co. As for our food both the Thunderbird sandwich and the J.R Ewing Burger tasted average. My husband was not asked how he would like his beef patty cooked so it was well-done. The flatbread was okay, nothing special about it. My Chicken Montelongo was very good. I would recommend it. And the Pork Belly Tacos was not appetizing at all. Everyone that tried it could not eat it. Thank goodness it came with a good amount of sides. Overall the ambiance itself is nice, staff is professional, and drinks are good. As for the food it is quite expensive with flavor comparative to any cheep of fast food restaurant. If you are staying at the hotel it may be a good option. But we will not be going out of our way to visit any time soon.

Chuy's is a popular Tex-Mex chain known for its vibrant and lively atmosphere, complete with colorful decor and an Elvis-heavy theme. With its eclectic and funky restaurants, each location offers a unique experience, from quirky decorations to an outdoor patio that welcomes leashed pets. The menu features a mix of classic Tex-Mex dishes and innovative creations, including the famous 'big as yo' face' burritos and the flavorful Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom enchilada.
Chuy's is our favorite place to eat wherever we can find it! Visiting Waco, we were so glad to find it when we Googled nearby restaurants. The food is always top notch. The chips are light and crispy. The white sauce is so good I'd lick the bowl clean if I wasn't in public. Often I get the chimichanga, but this time I got the flautas and they were amazing and plentiful. My husband always gets the enchilada and gets a fried egg on top. We can't get enough! The waitress was so friendly and fun. They are dog-friendly on the patio and it's sheltered from the wind so we didn't have any problem with our little dog.

We came here on a Thursday night of Baylor graduation weekend. It was packed. Luckily there was plenty of parking. We only had 3 people so we did not have to wait even though there were larger groups waiting. Restaurant was clean with some cool decor. The service was good. Our waitress kept checking on us even though it was extremely busy. The food was good and in my opinion inexpensive. Starter chips and sauces upon request. I had the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo. It had a little bit of everything. I was unable to completely finish my plate, which is a rare occurrence. It might have been because of all the delicious chips I ate before it came out. I took the rest with me and heated the next day. Definitely a good experience.

Fun Atmosphere, Flavorful Fajitas, and Margaritas Worth Coming Back For ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chuy’s never disappoints when it comes to fun vibes, bold flavors, and a Tex-Mex experience that feels like a little fiesta every time. We stopped in for dinner, and everything from the service to the drinks hit the mark. I went with the chicken fajitas, and they came out sizzling just the way they should—hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, with perfectly grilled onions and peppers. Wrap all that up in a warm tortilla with some of their house-made guac and boom—you’ve got a party on your plate. And speaking of parties, their house margarita is no joke. It was smooth, strong, and refreshing with that just-right balance of citrus and tequila. Definitely one of the better house margs I’ve had in a while. My wife ordered the cheese enchiladas, and she was all smiles from the first bite. The enchilada sauce had a rich, smoky flavor that brought the whole dish together, and she raved about the creamy, melty cheese inside. Her strawberry margarita was fruity, fresh, and not overly sweet—just how she likes it. The whole experience had that signature Chuy’s charm—colorful decor, upbeat energy, and a staff that genuinely seems to enjoy making sure you have a good time. Whether you’re craving sizzling fajitas, cheesy comfort food, or just a great margarita with your better half, Chuy’s delivers. We’ll definitely be back for round two (and probably round three). Highly recommend!

“Overfed and Underwhelmed: My Chuy’s Waco Experience” When you walk into a restaurant, the welcome sets the tone. At Chuy’s in Waco, that opening note fell flat. I was greeted not with hospitality but with a finger point — “take that one over there.” It’s a small thing, but it frames the whole meal. Restaurants aren’t just about food; they’re about how people feel when they sit down. Chips and salsa landed quickly, and I’ll give credit where it’s due: the chips were whisper-thin, crunchy, and almost weightless, the kind of chip that shatters between your teeth. A perfect vehicle for dips. The green salsa (creamy jalapeño, as I later recalled) was bright and flavorful, though it arrived sloppily streaked on the bowl’s rim. That lack of wipe-down before hitting the table summed up a service style that felt hurried and inattentive. The red salsa? Uneventful. Thin, watery, and missing the spark of heat or depth of flavor you expect at a Tex-Mex table. The appetizer — Fajita Chicken Nachos, listed as “Ponchos” — was both the high point and the downfall of the meal. Piled high with cheese, guacamole, jalapeños, pico de gallo, and smoky chicken, the plate looked like a Tex-Mex parade. And to be fair, it tasted good. But here’s the catch: this “appetizer” could feed two people comfortably. As a solo diner, it left me overwhelmed. This is where portion control matters. A fine-dining kitchen knows when to scale down. Chuy’s, for all its color and kitsch, doesn’t seem interested in balance — they lean on abundance as their calling card. I had planned to order an entrée, but there was no way. The Ponchos were too much. I pivoted instead to dessert: Tres Leches cake. Again, size ruled the day. The slice was huge, swimming in sweet milk, drizzled with caramel, and topped with strawberries. It looked the part and tasted fine — moist, rich, traditional. But after a mountain of nachos, it became too much of too much. Sometimes indulgence needs restraint to really shine. To drink, I chose the Coconut Mojito. Fresh mint, lime, and coconut promised tropical refreshment, and it looked crisp in the glass. But flavor-wise, it never transcended. It was fine — but didn’t taste crafted with the hand of a mixologist. The service echoed the theme: functional but uninspired. My server, Sean, delivered food without energy, brought the check before I’d ordered dessert, and never once suggested an add-on or upsell. In another context, that restraint might be appreciated, but here it felt more like disengagement. The décor leaned into Chuy’s trademark quirk: walls crowded with chihuahua artwork. Some diners find it playful; I found it more distracting than charming. Combined with the lunchtime lull and a lack of warmth in the room, the vibe just didn’t pull me in. At the end, I tally a mixed experience. The Ponchos were tasty, the chips light, the creamy jalapeño dip memorable. But portion sizes bulldozed subtlety, the service lacked spark, and the overall hospitality felt half-hearted. A restaurant’s response to reviews often shows how much they value guests. A glance at Google reveals silence from management — a telling detail. Chuy’s has its loyal fans, and I understand why. Big plates, bold toppings, and colorful walls make an impression. But for me, it never rose above “okay.” Not bad, not terrible, just not somewhere I’d hurry back. I’ll give it four stars, and that’s generous — carried mainly by those fajita chicken Ponchos.

I approached the host for a table for me and my husband. The host, named Emma, in Waco, TX, told me to button up my top, claiming it was a kid-friendly establishment. For context, I was wearing a button-up shirt with only the first button undone, showing a small part of my upper chest and lower abdomen. I told her I would not button it up and asked why I needed to. I also requested to see the policy or dress code that stated my outfit was inappropriate. She then tried to embarrass me in front of her coworkers and other guests, which was completely uncalled for. Thankfully, I didn’t let her behavior get to mei refused and was seated to my table .The manager later came to our table, served our food, and didn’t say a word about my outfit. I’m extremely upset by how unprofessional she was clearly intimidated! Jealousy is so ugly take care Emma !

We used to go to the original in Austin. Definitely not as good as back then. Chips used to be homemade and thin but now just bagged style chips. Definitely has a different style to tex-mex but many good items worth trying like the steak burrito, flaunts, and my favorite the crispy tacos and the Mexi Cobb salad. Anything and everything with creamy jalapeño sauce. Enchiladas are not not my style here. Prices are fair.

Some of the best Tex Mex in Waco!! I'm a huge fan of the fish tacos. They can be a little too sauce sometimes but put it on the side and you can put just the right amount for your taste. Awesome restaurant! Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Great prices for the portions you get. I got the Casa Castillo Dinner and had a ton of great food and leftovers to go. Our waiter was probably the best I've seen. She refilled our chips when they got low, got us replacement drinks when they were half empty, to-go drinks as well, constantly checking on us. Excellent experience!

Our dinner with family was amazing! Loved the atmosphere, the family operation, friendly staff, and excellent food! We ordered the queso to go with our chips and salsa which were immediately delivered to our table upon arrival. I ordered the sweet tea based on someone else’s review and it was perfect and fresh. I ordered the (#9) Combination dinner which was a Chili Relleno (Beef & Cheese filling), cheese enchilada (changed for chicken) and beef taco!! It came with refried beans and rice and was absolutely delicious! Generously sauced with melted cheese. My honey ordered the Carne Guisada and it was like Mexican pot roast to me! A little spicy if you like heat, and so yummy! The reviews on it were why we ordered it! Family had Combination Fajitas (Beef, Chicken & Shrimp), a Chicken Chimichanga and Pork Carnitos Taco Dinner. No complaints from anyone! We were so glad we stopped! Service was amazing as our drinks, chips and salsa stayed filled while we dined. The place was bustling with customers on Friday night! There was a little bit of a wait, but well worth it! They may take reservations, so call and ask! 😋😋😋 We will definitely be returning whenever we are in Waco, TX. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tru Jamaica Restaurant at The Hippodrome is a vibrant Jamaican eatery located on Taylor Street, offering a taste of the Caribbean in Waco, Texas. The restaurant stands out with its colorful and easygoing atmosphere, featuring green and blue pastoral murals by local artist Ira Watkins. Despite being an unexpected find in Waco, Tru Jamaica provides a unique culinary experience with Jamaican standards like jerk chicken and sweet fried plantains.
This is seriously the best Jamaican food I have ever had. Worth the drive from DFW to here. The service is friendly and personable. The manager is so kind and thoughtful and the food is out of this world. We had the jerk chicken and the redfish. Everything on the plate was delicious! Not even one thing to critique! Also the building is surprisingly beautifully decorated. A great place for any occasion, an affordable date, or just to grab a bite. I would 100% recommend to anyone!

Amazing authentic Jamaican food. Highly recommend if you're passing through the Waco area looking for something new to try. The curry chicken was very flavorful. The oxtail was tender and saucy. The fried fish was cooked perfectly and delicious. They are very generous with the portions, and are very quick with getting the food out to you. Even though they are quick with it the food comes out steaming hot. Fried plantains are delicious too.

We are not very well versed in Jamaican food, we’ve had it before but definitely not experts in it. When we told the owner about this while ordering, he let us sample the oxtail as we’ve never had it. The food is fresh and filling. But I would say the best thing by far is the service. Granted we came at slower time but the owner really catered to us and made us feel welcomed. They recently had a fire so they’re kind of in a reconstruction period but they still serve great food out of their temporary food truck kitchen.

Spiciness of the food is just right and they give really good portions at a decent price. Would definitely eat here again.

Walked in, was immediately greeted and sat down. They were just opening back up from a fire that had happened. They went over the menu with me. I had the meat pie, which I did not take a picture of and also the jerk chicken excellent flavor portion size was nice. I will be back to try some of the other items in the future, so if you’re in Waco a little off the beaten path, but it’s well worth looking up And stopping to have a meal.

They're open again! Honestly some of the best Jamaican food I've ever had. The owner is super chill, very happy to share his culinary love and it shows. I don't think you can go wrong with what you order. We had the jerk chicken and the rasta pasta. Highly recommend both. Here's to many more years of good food.

Czech restaurant
Pivovar, which means "brewery" in Czech, is a unique establishment located near the renowned Magnolia Market. This hidden gem offers luxurious accommodations and features its own brewery that specializes in traditional Czech beer. While visitors may not have the chance to taste their brews during their stay, they can enjoy a restaurant with a view of the brewing equipment, including large tanks. Pivovar also includes a beer garden, bakery, hotel, and beer spa.
This was the perfect location for a great meal before hitting the Silos at Magnolia. Do to being a tourist attraction many of the stores can be a bit pricey including the surrounding restaurants. But it is well worth it if you are a local near and around Central Texas looking for a getaway for the day. Pivovar is a beautiful location celebrating the local Czechoslovakian culture. Being the first time here we took our waitress suggestion as to what to order and we were not disappointed. From the drinks to dessert the meal was filling and the atmosphere was clean and full of corners filled with surprises. From the brewery to the blown glass, we felt very comfortable in this new found restaurant. Parking is available around back and ADA friendly. Lots of swag to purchase if you’re a collector of foodie locations. We did not stay at the hotel. We did enjoy our visit.

We absolutely loved our time at Pivovar Waco—it’s hands down one of the best spots in town! Our bartender/server Adrian was fantastic; super friendly, attentive, and made our visits feel so welcoming every time. The beer selection was spot-on, with the premium lager being perfectly crisp and refreshing—couldn’t get enough! The food? Outstanding. The schnitzel was amazing—tender, flavorful, and a total standout. We also devoured the Reuben and the giant pretzel (soft, salty, and served with killer mustard). Everything was delicious, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere is wonderful: modern vibes and lively yet relaxed energy that’s perfect for unwinding. Service was top-notch from the whole team—good people all around. We ended up visiting four times in just three days (we were in town for the Baylor game), and each walk from near the stadium was totally worth it—super convenient location! Next trip, we’ll crash at the attached hotel to make it even easier. If you’re in Waco, do yourself a favor and hit it up. Very well done— we’ll be back!

ADRIAN the bartender is awesome at Pivovar! I was just in town to see my Baylor Bear & Friends and treated them all to a good time. I returned after visiting a year ago, and he remembered us! The 2024 visit was epic, the beer was so good. And 2025’s visit was fantastic too. Adrian was entertaining and extremely helpful to my entire party at the bar. So good in fact, I took home 15.5 gal keg of the Pivovar Czech Premium Pilsner Lager and now, I’m serving this delicious brew in my own garage kegerator down in Nassau Bay, TX on the water! Thank you Adrian for this fresh keg of greatness! By the way, the room was nice too, and a nice change from all the Waco hotels we frequent. Very happy, and will visit again. I will continue to spread the word on how great this place is! Now, I have to figure out to get more Pivovar beer when this runs out!

We walked in with our dogs and were happy to find the there is an outside sitting. Angelina, our waitress, did a great job explaining the menu. My husband had one of the types of beer and was delighted with the flavor. We’ll definitely come back to try other dishes!

We stayed in the standard 2-bed hotel room. They offer king and suites too. We stayed one night. We got a discount for a walk-in reservation on our impromptu girl's trip. The hotel is very secure as doors lock early in the evening and your room key allows access. It is a smaller, boutique type hotel with 20 to 30 rooms. The decor is modern yet traditional with real wood furniture, arm chairs, and glass accents. Loved the large bathroom with double sinks and relaxing shower. Near the train, but it wasn't a distraction. Staff were friendly too. In room coffee with actual creamer instead of powdered kind was very nice. You can see the Magnolia property from some rooms as it is across the street. It is within walking distance to many tourist attractions and fun spots in town.
Rebecca G — Google review
Had dinner here, and just found out they ruined the menu by removing the best things that made it unique. No more Pivo burger with the jam and beer bbq sauce. All they have now is the most basic cheeseburger that has nothing exemplary about it. If you want a burger, go to In-N-Out or Bubbas, it seems this place has changed for the worse. Definitely not going back unless it’s for the beer or something that is absolutely good. Pass on this place with no unique offerings… Worst decision ever by the efficiency experts; way to ruin a unique establishment… Beer spa was very good, so get yours now for a lower price during the holiday months!!!!

This place is quite similar to European cuisine. Most of the food is delicious, and the grilled broccolini is absolutely amazing. They also have a kids’ menu — the mini burger is super cute!

Adrian is a badass bartender and totally down to Earth. He made the time at the hotel and beer gardens absolutely worth the stay and comforting. The place wouldn't have been the same without him and his energy.

Cambodian restaurant
The Blasian Asian is a popular food truck at Union Hall, offering traditional Cambodian dishes like noodles and skewers. The food is cooked to order using fresh ingredients, resulting in delicious flavors. Additionally, the food truck has gained attention on social media for its extravagant milkshakes. Despite occasional menu shortages, the overall experience and taste of the cuisine have received positive feedback from visitors.
The food was AMAZING! Very polite & friendly staff. We had some leftovers we took home & I ate it the next day( I usually hate leftover takeout) but the flavors were just bursting in my mouth. So worth every penny. If we find ourselves out this side again we'll definitely be eating here again.
Ka'ula C — Google review
Overall I wanted to love it but man the food just isn't there for me. It lacks flavor (except the skewers those were awesome very small and skinny but great tasting) the noodles were literally like the cheapest ramen noodles and they tasted like it. The spring rolls taste like plain boiled cabbage. And let's not even start on the portion size lol can I atleast have the rest of my .25cent ramen package ended up eating at a different place in the hall because it was not filling and the only thing I'd call good were the skewers.

If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. The bread on the Tofu Bahn Mi we ordered was a Ciabatta bread that was stale, cold and dry. I am used to a French baguette that’s crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The tofu was cold and not seasoned or cooked (grilled or sautéed) thoroughly. There was white American mayo inside instead of yellow Vietnamese mayo and the pickled veggies did not have very much flavor. Sadly, the fried rice we ordered was dry and seemed like it had been reheated. I also asked for extra veggies and didn’t receive it. The staff I placed the order with over the phone seemed very abrasive and rude as well. Overall, a disappointing service and food experience.
Huong P — Google review
We have eaten here since it opened. Tonight I got the yellow noodles spice level 2 and my daughter had fried rice with chicken spice level 4. This is what we always order. I am not sure what was going on in the kitchen but both of our dishes were so hot we barely ate any of it. It was actually so hot we couldn't even taste the food. The line was so long we didn't want to wait for a remake. Over all we were so disappointed we just tossed it away and left.
Anita H — Google review
The food was amazing went yesterday forgot to review! The eggrolls 100% must try, especially the one with meat! Their fried rice is your choice of protein and very garlicky if that is not your thing I would not recommend… I wonder if they are able to adjust that 🤔. Looking forward to the next time I go they have more options but off what I received/ordered I will definitely be returning!

I really really wanted to like this place. As a Khmer, it's a rare treat to find a place that serves up Khmer cuisine. So traditionally, most really tasty Khmer dishes take a while to prepare and I get that this isn't the place for that (think food truck) so instead of a rural country side dish a khmer grandma made, it's more of a Phnom Penh fast food variety. Again, it's fine but I was missing what my mother, aunt and grandma would make. The dishes, which I included for you to see, were on the dry side and my particular dish was on the salty side. The other 2 said their dishes were on the sweet spectrum and the slices of carrots were dry. Overall, the consensus was that it tastes like generic Chinese take out. Again, you don't see many Khmer, or Cambodian restaurants in the wild and my hopes were high but I was let down. Plus the prices were on the high side...and that's without drinks. So many white people will think Khmer food tastes like generic Chinese take out...please don't!

I just did Uber Eats and the food I ordered was chicken fried rice with extra egg. The chicken and egg were so dry it taste like beef jerky and I also requested for my rice to be spicy there is no spice

Food was AMAZING, the service was knowledgeable about the food. The only thing I would have to say is the parking lot area, you have to have a lot of patience to get out. But everything else EXCELLENT. By the way your salsa is the best that I have had and the hot sauce is liquid fire but really good. Thank you for an amazing dinner.

I’ve called orders ahead and had them picked up for me and I wouldn’t be writing a review if it were a one time thing. However at this point it’s now been a constant issue with my orders. Most recently I ordered an agua fresca de limón. When my order arrives to my job and I’m handed my drink I immediately notice the color is off. I give it a sip and well it simply tasted like sugar no crisp citrus notes like natural homemade lemonade or limón would have. I then call to ask about how they make the agua de limón and YES indeed it’s just powdered flavoring. It’s frustrating that online and in store they announce to sell aguas frescas when in reality it’s just powder Kool-Aid/Klass brand etc….. and yet charge as if it were truly a fresh made beverage. If I wanted a processed beverage I would go to any corner store or gas station and even then it would be cheaper. Not to mention that when I call to place my order the lady taking the order seems to be in a rush continuously asking anything else, when I’m not even finish with my sentence. If you don’t have time to take an order it’s okay to communicate that as well, simply say it’s best if you call back or place the order online. I call because it’s quicker but if calling is going to cause communication issues to the point where my orders are being delivered incorrectly every time than I would rather not call, I order from here because it’s closer to my job and convenient but the service and food isn’t what it’s supposed to be.

Got tired of fast food after work and did a quick search to see what was close to my hotel. Found this taqueria 2 minutes away and they are open till 11:00pm. Good tacos and the salsa was nice and spicy. Charro beans hit the spot. Heading back in the morning for some breakfast tacos.

I was in town for work and decided on something “light” for dinner. This restaurant gives a food truck feel but with a dine in option. I ordered the fajita chicken quesadilla and two beef fajita tacos on corn. Order took about 10 minutes or so. It smelled great! The quesadilla was okay. Very cheesy if you like more cheese than chicken. I prefer an even ratio so I give the quesadilla three stars. But five stars go for the tacos! I can get that all day everyday! Delicious, flavorful, and full of meat. It was so good and I wished I would have gotten more. But it’s a great gem in the city of Waco so I definitely recommend. It gives authentic Mexican food that’s not Tex mex.

Barbecue restaurant
Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q is a well-established chain with 46 locations across several states, known for its no-frills setting and delicious cafeteria-style brisket, ribs, and sides. The original recipes that built its reputation are still used today. The Waco location has its own charm and offers a casual atmosphere to enjoy their famous sauces. They are also known for their Gut Pak, which was named Best College Eats.
Rudy’s ‘Country Store’ and Bar-B-Q If you’re looking for a no-fuss, Texas-style barbecue experience with a rustic charm, Rudy’s ‘Country Store’ and Bar-B-Q is the spot. From checkered tablecloths to self-serve condiments and a cafeteria-style ordering system, it’s all about the food—and Rudy’s delivers on that front. The Breakdown of My Meal: • Moist Brisket (aka Fatty Brisket) – Smoked overnight and seasoned in true Rudy’s fashion, this was exactly as described—moist. Maybe too moist for my personal taste, as I prefer less fat. That’s on me, not Rudy’s. Next time, I’ll stick with the leaner cut. Verdict: Good, but I’d opt for regular brisket. • Jalapeño Sausage – A solid German-style sausage, made with half beef, half pork, plus spices and jalapeños for a kick. The snap on the casing was great, and the spice was just right—enough to wake up the taste buds without overpowering. Verdict: A must-try if you like a little heat. • Creamed Corn – This was hands down the MVP of the meal. Sweet, creamy, and rich, with whole kernel corn in a sauce made from heavy cream, parmesan, and Rudy’s special blend of seasonings. If you only get one side, make it this one. Verdict: Absolute perfection. • Rudy’s Beans – Pinto beans slow-cooked with brisket and Rudy’s BBQ sauce. A little spicy, a little smoky, a little tangy—these are not your average barbecue beans. Verdict: A great supporting player to the meal. • Peach Cobbler – A warm, cinnamon-infused, baked-fresh-daily dessert with sweet peaches and a crispy, caramelized crust. It wasn’t the best cobbler I’ve ever had, but it definitely satisfied the craving for something sweet to round out the meal. Verdict: A cozy, comforting classic. Overall Rating: (5 Stars) Rudy’s doesn’t try to be fancy—it’s Texas BBQ, done right. The brisket was exactly what it promised to be, the sausage had a great flavor, and that creamed corn? I’d go back just for that. Next time, I’ll skip the fatty brisket in favor of the leaner cut, but overall, this was a solid barbecue experience. Would I go back? Absolutely. Pro Tip: Don’t sleep on the creamed corn. Seriously.

We each had a brisket sandwich with Rudy's BBQ sauce. $8.99 each. I thought this was a sit-down restaurant. It's not. You go up to the counter & order your food. Very fast! Very good. We tried their chocolate pudding dessert. It was good - if you like pudding. We stopped here because of their excellent reviews. They did not disappoint. If you're in the area and want barbecue, this is a great place to go

Great food, staff, and atmosphere. The fuel is just a little bit higher than I like to pay. A few cents more than buc-ee's is worth every penny. The barbecue is far superior, and a nice place to sit down and eat, with fresh pickles and onions as well as outstanding coleslaw and sweetened tea. Thanks Rudy's, you make my road trip very pleasant!

Me and my spouse went and ordered food for both of us on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, there were two strands of black hair in the bag called back to report and was told by the manager Riley “ There’s nothing we can do about it because you did not return the food the same day”. This being after we called the same day and no one at the store picked up. Driving back into town 30 minutes away from our home would not have been convenient which he did not ask nor did he care. Unfortunately, this seems to be a continuous issue at this location from what we’ve seen. Will gladly be speaking with corporate about this issue that just happened two days ago. Hopefully they see this and we receive a better response or corporate can help us out.

Restaurant
Health Camp Burgers and Shakes is a nostalgic roadside eatery that has been delighting taste buds since 1948. This charming burger joint in Waco, Texas, offers a delightful menu featuring classic burgers and hot dogs, all complemented by an array of shakes, malts, and frozen custard. It's the perfect spot for families looking to indulge in some delicious fast food while enjoying the retro ambiance.
Health Camp – A Waco Institution Old-School Charm, Big-Time Flavor Health Camp has been holding down the fort on Waco’s Circle for decades, serving up nostalgia with a side of crispy onion rings and thick shakes. It’s the kind of place where the griddle’s been seasoned by time, and the menu stays simple because, well—why mess with perfection? The Burger: Smash-Style Satisfaction The cheeseburger here leans into that classic smash burger aesthetic—100% Angus ground chuck, seared just right to give it that crispy outer edge while staying juicy inside. No gimmicks, just beef done right. Mustard, onions, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and tomato—all stacked onto a perfectly toasted bun. The mustard gives it that Texas tang, cutting through the richness, while the crisp veggies bring balance. At nine bucks, you’re paying a little extra, but you’re also getting a burger with real beefy character. Onion Rings: Golden Crunch Perfection Skip the fries—this is an onion ring kind of place. They come out thick-cut and fried to an ideal crunch, the batter light but substantial. No limp, greasy afterthoughts here. These rings are the real deal, seasoned just enough to keep you reaching for the next one. Banana Pudding Shake: Southern Sweetness in a Cup Now, let’s talk about that shake. If you love banana pudding, this one’s a winner. It’s got that rich banana flavor, the kind that doesn’t taste artificial but instead reminds you of a homemade dessert. The real magic? The vanilla wafer crumbs dusted on top, with a few surprise wafers hidden inside, giving it that classic banana pudding texture. Cold, creamy, and just the right amount of thick—this one’s a must. Final Verdict Health Camp is more than just a burger joint—it’s a Waco staple, a slice of Texas history on a buttered bun. You’ll pay a little extra for the nostalgia, but you’ll also leave satisfied, knowing that places like this still exist. Whether you’re craving a classic burger, crispy onion rings, or a shake that tastes like dessert straight from grandma’s kitchen, Health Camp delivers.

Quaint cute little local diner. Always great and fresh hamburgers, the best milkshakes, fries or onion rings served with a smile. Always clean and usually busy but it was not when we went this evening. Was nice to get in and have a choice of tables. There’s nothing on the menu that isn’t delicious and it’s something soothing about enjoying your food pretty much prepared right in front of you when you’re at the counter. Definitely recommended and and a frequent stop for my family.

I got the double bacon jalapeño cheeseburger with tator tots and a strawberry malt. The malt I didn’t get a picture of because that quickly bring that out to you first so you can enjoy while you wait! I firmly believe in dessert first because you never know when Christ is coming back! I love the atmosphere which is a very old school vibe. The quality of the food was great. Definitely was not the over processed normal fast food joints. The service was quick and very friendly. Quick to accommodate! I came back a second time the same day to get my boyfriend a take out for his lunch (night shift). I most definitely recommend!

Built in 1949 by successful food cart operators at the old James Connally Air Force base now owned by TSTC and leased by L3Harris. This burger joint is one of the best in town. Their buns are expertly toasted and soft divided by quality 100% ground angus chuck patties!

Popular menu items include homemade potato soup, prime rib, country-fried steak, and chicken fried steak.
Went here on a Saturday afternoon and I had an absolutely fantastic time! This was a hidden gem in Waco that I never knew existed! The atmosphere is perfectly done, the staff were very nice and helpful, the food was all delicious and mouth watering, and the drinks were top knotch. This was one of the best experiences eating out I've had in a long time! There were so many little details that made the experience great, like the shots being in frozen glasses, the drinks being layers great and being strong enough to feel it but not tasting too strong. All the food came out fast and tasted exactly how I was wanting it to be! It's not too expensive either for what you're getting. I bought two cocktails, two shots, an appetizer, two entries, AND dessert, and the bill was $117. Highly recommend! I'll be heading back!

First time trying out this location. The Bear at the entrance was good touch and I am sure is popular with the Baylor community! Charles did a great job with service and was very attentive throughout. The bread was nice, warm and heavenly as usual. We ordered the ribeye and the blackened fish with salad. Salad was average. The steaks actually tasted pretty good by a mid-tier steak place standard. The fish was good. Really liked the shrimp on it. The broccoli could have been steamed a tad bit longer. Fries were really good and evenly seasoned.

The Saltgrass in Waco is an amazing place with a great atmosphere!! I've been coming here for years and it's always a great time - especially at the bar with your bartenders Daniel, Kaitlyn, Starla, Chase, Megan and Chris. 🍻 Their Happy Hour is from 3 til 7 with half priced appetizers and specialty drinks!!! Except, for some reason, the Bourbon Bacon - and yes, it's as fab as it sounds!! How can you beat that? I recommend the Texas Tea or the Grand Sangria. See ya here!

We were visiting from Georgia. We had planned on going somewhere else to eat, but this place came highly recommended. Im sad to say I was VERY disappointed. Our server didn't seem to know much (which he could have been new), but my husband got a 6oz filet med rare and it was horrible. He works in meat and seafood and it was an absolute terrible end cut. Half was way overcooked and the other was decent at best. Asked if they had steak fries and was told yes, they were regular and overcooked as well. Me and my mom got the country fried steak. My mom's looked and tasted burnt and my mashed potatoes were cold. I asked the server for different ones and he brought them out but they were steaming so much, im sure they just tossed some in the microwave. Overall just disappointed on every level. We don't mind spending good money for a nice meal, but id like it to at least taste good for what we spent

Seriously one of the most amazingly delicious restaurants in Waco, Texas!— Locally owned and operated and truly a Waco GEM! —Fresh, delicious food! Amazing cocktails and wine! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great little spot. The ambiance of the place was amazing. Price point is a little high for the quality of the food. It was a good meal. The deconstruction beef Wellington was also not what I was expecting. Martini was perfect! Good date night spot.

A great place to enjoy a special meal. Every entrée I have had at 1424 has been delicious. Our server was John. He was very friendly with the perfect amount of interaction. He made us feel welcome and took great care of us!

Hidden gem of Waco! Truly a pleasure. Went for our anniversary and everything was impeccable. First timers and didn’t disappoint. Wish I remembered the servers name, she was knowledgeable, so nice and attentive!! Oysters and drinks were great. Very moody and intimate atmosphere, great for small gatherings. Will definitely be back!!

I enjoyed a delicious meal at this Mediterranean Bistro. The food was perfect to suit my taste. I absolutely love the setting and architecture. The staff was the best! Warm, friendly and professional. My waiter even joined me in one of my pictures. I will definitely visit again and highly recommend.

After a business trip to Fort Worth concluded, on the way back home to Austin, I decided to stay the night in Waco. While there, I enjoyed a delicious meal in this hidden gem, 1424 Bistro, fit for a romantic evening for any couple. The service was exceptional and timed perfectly. Anissa, the bartender was very professional with her recommendations, and I was immensely impressed by her knowledge of running any sector of a restaurant. My selections for the evening included several new special appetizers and a Chef's Special Entrée which paired perfectly with a Pinot Noir from 1424's new Wine Menu. I very much enjoyed the traditional Greek selections for appetizers which were the grape leaf wrapped Dolmades served with a delicious Tzatziki sauce and the Kasseri Cheese served flambé style at table. Also, I enjoyed several of the Fried cheese portions as a side. The Bone-in Pork chop was cooked perfectly and adequately balanced with the delicious serving of garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetable medley. For dessert, I enjoyed a Vanilla Crème Brûlée that was fired perfectly to form a crisp and sweetened crust and garnished deliciously with blueberries and strawberries. To finish, the bartender and owner got creative on the spot with a Tiramisu Martini and let me try this as it is a newly developed bar drink. The atmosphere was eclectic and definitely a vibe to be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates delicious food that is reasonably priced and expertly prepared with an attention to detail that was unexpected, but a delight to experience. Live music, as I understand, is an added bonus for an enjoyable night. I must say, I will be bringing my girlfriend back to this perfect spot for a lovely evening away from the big city.

Balcones Distilling, located in the heart of Texas, has quickly made a name for itself in the world of whiskey. Their on-site process of mashing, fermenting, and distilling their whiskeys has earned them numerous awards and international recognition. Industry experts have hailed them as masters of big whisky outside of Kentucky and Tennessee.
Great and friendly staff, especially Don who waited on us at the bar, making great drinks, pouring a great flight, and sharing in knowledgeable conversation! We learned a lot about the distillery, the products and the general area! Purchased a bottle of their 15 year anniversary expression (De Color) and look forward to enjoying it for some time. Would highly recommend this place to any whisk(e)y lover!

Great experience in our visit, both bar and tasting tour. Our guide very knowledgeable and friendly. Whiskey were strong and flavorful.
Esther S — Google review
The tour was short but informative and entertaining! Cool to see the behind the scenes and gave me a greater appreciation for what goes into making a good whiskey. The tasting room reminded me of a wine class. Taught me how to choose a whiskey that suited my palate. The reconditioning of the old building into what it is today was awesome to see. The character and history of the building added to the experience.
SgtFives — Google review
The balcones logo and name is based on the valley trench where the distillery originally sourced its water. The distiller opened in 2008 and now operates out of the fireproof storage building which once housed luxury fur coats. This building is one of the survivors of the deadly and destructive 1953 tornado outbreak (along side the Alico building, which was at one point in time the tallest skyscraper south of the Mason-Dixon Line). The distillery boast the “unofficial” largest copper stills. Their single malt and brimstone editions offer a unique Texas smoke and leather taste to it. Its provenance could be attributed to the terry blacks BBQ next door which offers delicious brisket. Diageo acquired the distillery in December of ‘22. Their blue corn based whiskey “Baby blue” is smooth. They also have a micro brewery footprint onsite and at some local pubs.
Madelyn S — Google review
Took the distillery tour. We had a great time. Our tour guide, Alexander, was terrific. He presented a knowledgeable and clear explanation of Balcone's whiskey making process. A taste testing of five of the whiskey products created by Balcones was fun and informative. Recommend highly.

We came here as a pregame for an escape room and it was a nice experience. If you like whiskey this is such a cool place!! I am not a big whiskey fan so this was not my cup of tea. However I can appreciate the staff and what they have to offer. They have cocktails and spirits such a scotch, bourbon, whiskey, and rum. The drinks are strong and the atmosphere is fitting.
Jared D — Google review
My fiance and I booked the tour and got to the tasting room a little early, so we had a cocktail. The drinks were great and the bartenders were friendly. Our reservation did not start on time, but it was worth the wait. Cara did an amazing job, we asked lots of questions and she was able to answer all of them! We left with a bottle of their rye whisky and tons of laughs. Thanks for helping us have a great birthday weekend!
Staci B — Google review
Easily one of the best distilleries in Texas. We had a great tour, which took right around 45 minutes with the last 15 minutes reserved for tasting 5 of their whiskeys. You get to keep your glencairn too. We then meandered to the bar where you can get a whiskey flight, craft cocktail, or craft beer produced in house. Their fall cocktail reminded me of a creme brulee and was delicious. Wether partaking in a tour or just grabbing a drink, this is a must visit in Waco.

Poppa Rollo's Pizza has been a Waco staple since 1959, known for its iconic pizzas and family-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant offers a throwback environment with classic arcade games, vaudevillian cartoons on a large projection screen, and even secret passageways between areas of the restaurant. In addition to their delicious pizza, Poppa Rollo's also provides gluten-free options and beer specials throughout the week.
I ordered through DoorDash. The pizza arrived cold and late but, was still divine. They have vegan cheese, which is such a bonus! Vegan options are fairly small in Waco, TX. We will be ordering from Poppa Rollos again. We will either eat in the restaurant or pick up next time. 3 different pizzas, all mini size. Which is 4 small pieces. We got a build your own with pizza sauce, cheese on top and mozzarella. My daughter loved it. We also ordered a Hawaiian pizza with pineapple. I loved the flavor of this pizza. The pineapple was delicious. Not small, flacid pieces but, nice and fresh tasting. Finally, we ordered a build your own with vegan cheese, pineapple, mushrooms, red onions and bell peppers. We were impressed by the quality of both the mushrooms and pineapple. The mushrooms were not soggy but fresh tasting and good size pieces. 👌 Thank you, again for considering your vegan and lactose intolerant customers.

For a place that raves to have the best pizza in town, I found it to be somewhat lacking. The pizza sauce was good, but the toppings were like straight out of a can. The dough reminded me of what we would get from a DYI pizza box at the grocery store. The service was as if they were busy even though they were not. I have no intention of returning. I'm sure they are not the best in town.

So my husband went to wake up to go to home zone to look for a sound furniture when we asked the people there.Where was the best place to eat pizza? They said Papa rolo's, so we were like back. That's where we're gonna go eat for lunch.😛 so when we pull up the bsit in a little parking lot. But they have different art on the building. They have pictures from the movie 300, Albert Einstein, Ben Franklin all eating pizza lol too funny. To add to it, they have the little rascals, the three stooges and sten and oliver from laura and hardy stained on the windows on the outside of the building. Very nostalgic invented the whole building😊 my type of place, so when you walk in the inside, everything is decorated so authentic. From the little horse that you could ride on when you were little used to b. E in front of grocery stores back in the day that you would put a quarter in and be ye hawing lol.🤠 They had a bumblegum machine on top of a Blast the Gollie pinball machine🤯 They also had games i saw 2 basketball hoop games. There was another pinball machine game and some other games to the left , but they were a lot of people sitting on that side. But a lot of stuff to keep you busy while you wait and after you eat. 😉 That was one side you could sit on the other side where we sat had the T. V that played 3 stooges the whole time. 🤣 Those guys didn't have any lick of sense🤣They also have an upstairs loft area where you can eat, and there's like little games for I would say from 2 to 5 year olds to play with and keep busy while you wait on your pizza. Also, all over the building, they have different vintage signs and sands and pictures of art. But the coolest thing I thought was. We had to go to the restroom to wash our hands, and you have to walk down this little hall. And then there's this brick wall that you have to push, and then it goes into a hole. Another other freaking big room. I was like, wow. 🤯 So when we went in, there was probably a birthday party🥳 going on, but that room was huge also. Connected to that was the bathrooms, but this place had little hidden gems everywhere you turned around.😀 So before we got to where the bathroom was, Isaac, our server, got our drinks. I ordered a pink lemonade, and my husband got a Sprite, and they were on the table when we returned. When we came back, he told us a little bit about the pizza and the about the history of Poppa Roll's and that he thought not just because he were there that they had the best pizza but like I told him we heard that also at the furniture store. 🙌 He also try to offer us some wings. But we weren't in the mood for wings. We really just wanted to taste the pizza. But he said the wings are also good. They're not small. They're big so we will probably try those the next time we come in☺️ We ordered our pizza that had everything on it. I think it was called the works, and please forgive me. I took a picture of the menu, but I forgot to take the picture of that one freaking page🤦‍♀️ I did take pictures of the pizza and man.😋 Let me tell you when that pizza came out. It looked so good. One thing I really liked about the pizza was that it wasn't very saucy because some pizza places put a lot of red sauce or tomato sauce on the pizza.😵‍💫 I do have to say it is one of the best pizzas I've ever had in my life. 😋 So kudos to you, Papa Rollo's.Ya'll have the number one title🏆🏅🎉🎊 Thank you, Isaac, for being a great server until next time✌️🫶🍕

My my family have been long time customers for many years. We can’t figure out why things have gone so badly here. You can literally go in there unknown and chill out and know body will even know that you are there. Poppa Rollas is losing their lunch crowd. We opened the back door twice to make the buzzer sound to let anyone know that we were inside. This place has serious issues. So sad because they used to to be so so awesome. ☹️

A unique experience with friendly service and good pizza. The fact that some of the favorites of the Little Rascals is playing on the tv it not lost on those childhood memories for some of us. There are many great pizza options in Waco now but I always return to Poppa Rollo's when I come back to my hometown. Wife tried the BBQ chicken pizza and said it was the best she ever had. The Brisket tacos, Fajita Quesadillas & Fajita nachos were all delicious! Our waitress was super friendly and very attentive. We recommend this restaurant and would definitely return next time we visit Waco!

This was more of a Tex-Mex Food. I was looking more like an Authentic Mexican Restaurant. Although the food was good, and so was the desert. Did not have to wait much for the food. The waitress was awesome. The restaurant was clean. The atmosphere was not as loud. We Enjoyed eating there. At the entrance, there is a nice fiesta colorful background to take pictures 📸

Met my friend here for a long lunch, he drive up from Austin and I came down from Dallas. The staff was super friendly. The place is reasonably nice. It just seemed a little less when I couldn't get verde sauce. I made a stretch and asked for mole sauce next, still no. So, if you want red sauce or cheese, you're set, otherwise, shop around a bit.

The food has always been real good, but today. Me and my party all agreed that for some reason, it was over the top good. Their wait staff has always been great, but the one today, not so good. My drink ran dry and had to ask for a refill. My food cooled down waiting to get something to wash it down with. Didn't bring us enough chips. Two baskets for a party of 10, come on now. Had to ask for more chips, because we weren't offered refills, when clearly they were bone dry. I know it's not the restaurant. Today's service was an exception.

We are down from out of state, and based on the reviews I read, I was hesitant to go here, but I'm very glad I did. I had the beef fajita burrito, and my wife had the Abuelita's Special. Both dinners were very good! The rice and beans were flavorful. The service was very good as well. I would definitely go back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Delicious food, thoughtful service, and a spacious setting—what more could you ask for? We had a great meal at this restaurant, and I have to highlight a few standout dishes. The bacon-wrapped shrimp were cooked perfectly—crispy, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. The Botana plate is a great option if you're craving variety, and Abuelita’s Special was both comforting and delicious, a true standout on the menu. Service was excellent throughout our visit. The staff were attentive in all the right ways—generous with chip baskets and quick with drink refills, which made us feel genuinely cared for. That kind of hospitality makes such a difference. The restaurant itself is surprisingly spacious. It has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and we didn’t encounter any wait time, even with a busy-looking lot. It’s a fantastic spot for groups or family outings. Highly recommend if you're looking for great food, friendly service, and a comfortable dining experience!

Harvest on 25th is a very nice brunch place in Waco! The food was really good and we loved their sweet/savory options. The service was really nice but it does take a bit for the food to come to our table (it was really busy so it makes sense). The atmosphere was also very nice and pleasant. Overall, I’d definitely recommend coming here when in Waco!

This was my first time trying this restaurant. I ordered the margherita pizza which was pretty flavorful but a little lacking and I also got the Pesto chicken Sammie sandwich with sweet potato fries. This sandwich was very disappointing to say the least. Good idea but poorly executed I would say. The chicken was super dry and the sandwich overall was very dry, could have used more of some sauce that added moisture. Did not finish sandwich and for $16 I would have expected more flavor. The sweet potato fries were super charred and was a bit too charred for me, even though I do like certain foods cooked this way. Not sure I would return to try again. Very disappointing for my first visit. UPDATE: Really appreciate Harvest responding so quickly and refunding the cost of my sandwich. Might give them a second chance to stop by just for the prompt follow up.

Tried this place while driving through town and it was good for the most part. I had the Mushroom and Zucchini omelette which surprisingly was delicious. The sauce they used was different and elevated the taste of the omelette. I also had the pancakes which I felt were pretty basic and a bit dry. Overall experience was good.

The ordering process was simple: place your order, receive a ticket, find your table, and set the ticket down kinda of smooth and straightforward Parking can be a bit tricky, especially during peak hours or if 25th Street is busy. Terry Black's Barbecue in Waco has quickly become a popular spot, with long lines forming outside the restaurant on weekends. The outdoor seating area is charming, surrounded by greenery and blooming flowers. Inside, the restaurant is spacious and clean, with the sweet aroma of smoked meats filling the air from their five huge smokers. The menu boasts of their famous beef ribs and mouthwatering brisket, living up to their claim of serving the best brisket in Texas.
Delicious and one of the best BBQ experiences I have ever had. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was Smokey and moist. The ribs were perfectly cooked to tug and take right off the bone. The vibe and service were welcoming and now I can’t wait to go back. BTW don’t miss the banana pudding either.
Darren C — Google review
Terry Black’s in Waco absolutely lives up to the hype. We ordered pretty much the full lineup — brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, sausage, and one of each side — and everything was packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The service made the experience even better; we were welcomed right at the door and guided through the ordering process like VIPs. The atmosphere leans touristy but in an upscale, polished way — a great mix of BBQ joint meets destination spot. Pricing felt fair for the quality, but a friendly warning: it’s very easy to over-order when everything looks that good (ask me how I know). Parking fills up quickly, so go early if you can. Plenty of seating inside or in the covered outdoor area. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended for BBQ lovers, travelers, families, or anyone who appreciates smoked meat done right.
Greg O — Google review
Terry Black’s BBQ is located in five Texas cities; Dallas, Austin, Lockhart, Fort Worth, and Waco. We visited the Waco restaurant. The brisket and sausage were very good, and so were the sides. I’ve been to my share of BBQ restaurants but have never seen so many smokers. The restaurant is casual. You stand in line, order your sides and grab a drink, then order your meat. I was surprised to see a Sam Adam’s beer, much less a non-alcoholic beer. Terry Black’s is a really good spot for some really good Texas BBQ. My only complaint is the price. The smallest side was $5. Brisket was $35/pound. Pretty steep. But if you are a BBQ aficionado, I highly recommend Terry Black’s.

Honest Review from a Backyard Griller 🔥 Checked out a highly hyped BBQ spot today. Here’s what I had: Sliced Brisket Sandwich Brisket had a decent bark and was tender, but it came out too salty for my taste. Had to use the BBQ sauce as a dipping sauce just to balance it out. That shouldn’t be the case with great brisket. Green Beans These were honestly the best thing on the plate. Perfectly seasoned, fresh, and had great texture. They nailed it here. Mac & Cheese Thick, creamy, but the cheese was way too overpowering. Almost felt like I was eating straight cheese sauce with a few noodles. Turkey (shared from a friend) Not bad — solid texture and moisture, but I've made better at home, and I’ve had better elsewhere. Sausage (also shared) Once again, very salty. Needed something to cut through the seasoning, maybe some pickles or slaw, but still didn’t hit right. Was it worth the hype? In my honest opinion — not really. It wasn’t terrible, but for the buzz, I expected more balance and finesse. I take my BBQ seriously as a backyard griller, so I’m including a picture of what I throw down at home. Just to show I’m not just here to talk — I cook too. 🔥🍖

Thankful we went at a time it wasn’t too busy. Enjoyed brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage. Mac n cheese needs a little more cheese but it wasn’t terrible. The slaw was good. The sausage knocked it out of the park it was so good.

Schmaltz's Sandwich Shoppe is a popular spot known for its fantastic homemade bread that takes their sandwiches to the next level. The introduction of their jalapeno cheddar bread has been a hit, adding an extra kick to their offerings. While some find the meat basic, others appreciate how Schmaltz's transforms it into delicious sandwiches with fresh ingredients and flavorful seasoning.
Great locally owned and operated sandwich shop. Can't go wrong with the Schmaltz! I was lucky enough to get the jalapeno cheese bread, it could have been baked longer as it was missing a nice crunch that I'm used to receiving from a similar chain. Texan approved sweet tea and for dessert I highly recommend the chocolate chip pecan cookie! The customer service I received was great and the cashier was very polite.

You know that feeling when you bite into a sandwich and it's just perfect? That's what you get at Schmaltz's Sandwich Shoppe in Waco. I hit up their bigger spot recently and it was fantastic. I have fond memories of coming to Schmaltz's as a kid, and now, over 30 years later, it's incredible to share that same delicious experience with my own family. It’s more than just a meal; it's a taste of nostalgia and a new memory being made. I went with the classic traditional Schmaltz with honey mustard, and seriously, the bread is the real MVP here. It's homemade daily and toasted just right, so you get this awesome crunch on the outside and it's still super soft inside. Schmaltz's has been a Waco staple since '75, and once you try it, you'll get why. They've got soups, salads, and plenty of ways to customize your sandwich too. If you want a genuine taste of Waco – and maybe relive a few good memories or make new ones – you've gotta check out Schmaltz's. It's truly "Waco Born & Bread." I'll be back soon...with ❤️ April

I really wanted to like this place. Mind you nothing was bad, but it just didn't live up to my expectations. I mean Schmatz born and bread Waco! I was excited. This may as well be Schlotzsky's. I had the Large Pastrami with Swiss. It was nearly $16 (see pic). I expected a Jewish Deli to have home made Pastrami...nope. I didn't ask but could tell from. The look it was typical mass-produced. Also maybe 1/4 lb of meat on the sandwich? Bread was home made and food but nothing special. This place is average. I'm disappointed 😞 poor value and average quality.

Omg these sandwiches are so good. The Schmaltz sandwich was so delicious. They were fully loaded and the bread was oh so good. The broccoli and cheddar soup was like a cozy warm hug. Highly recommend this spot!
Ruby — Google review
It smells oddly old inside. The bread is dense and not very flavorful. Everything was fresh and service was good but it just wasn’t that tasty. The overflowing trash by the fountain soda while the staff just stood there and talked amongst themselves was a giant bummer too.
Darren C — Google review
Absolutely DELICIOUS! Loved the turkey sand which! Homemade bread with the garlic butter, YUM! It was well worth the pit stop on a long road trip!

Schmaltz’s sandwich on homemade toasted bread with garlic butter and your favorite toppings. The tasty big sandwich was very filling.

Best sandwiches ever in Texas. You can never go wrong with a Schmaltz all the way, and get the cup of cheese soup. Too drink you ask, the famous sweet tea and a cookie.

Mexican restaurant
Wako Taco is a popular spot known for its fresh and delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. One of their must-try dishes is the chilaquiles plate, featuring eggs, salsa, and deep-fried tortilla chips topped with queso fresco, cilantro, onions, and sour cream. Another tasty option is the huevos rancheros: two fried eggs on a fried guarache covered in ranchero sauce. The restaurant has received building permits for expansion, indicating its growing popularity.
I have been patroning Mexican food in Waco for four decades. I had my favorites and only reluctantly followed a recommendation to come here. I was not disappointed! First it is worth point out that our server, Monica, was very sweet. My 8 year old for some reason decided to sit at the bar and she happily accommodated his request for something specific on the TV. That aside, she was very polite professional, attentive and the whole experience was great. Most importantly the food was phenomenal. Chips were great and the salsa was the best. The Birria Tacos were great and the enchiladas were great too. The water was also fantastic. It is worth noting because our tap water in Waco notoriously doesn’t taste good. I am highly impressed. Waco needs more places like this. It was remodeled, clean, safe and comfortable. Can’t recommend enough!🍌
Daniel C — Google review
Had the best lunch here recently and even ordered an item they do not have on menu. They happily obliged my request (shrimp burrito bowl) and were very friendly. Service was quick and the chips and salsa divine! If you ever order to go, ask for the chip salsa instead of the red to go salsa. Hands down the best in the area. If you have small children, there is a small outdoor seating area for them to run around. Definitely adding to favorites!
Chaquinta F — Google review
First time coming here. The town people loved this place and I said what’s the best food and the recommendation was this place. The inside is a neat little setup with a small bar to the left. It also had an outdoor patio. I got a yogurt bowl and this amazing taco with a dipping sauce and pickled onions. It was filling but didn’t make me feel overly full.
Goat T — Google review
Stopped in while passing through town. So glad I did! Very clean and pleasant dining area. The staff is very friendly and polite. It was lunchtime and there were only 4 other parties in the restaurant. Food came out quickly and with a nice presentation. I had the birria taco plate. Awesome taste and plenty of food with the three taco. Served with chips and salsa and under $13 with water to drink. Overall a great experience and highly recommend.

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast with quick, friendly service. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit!
Lou L — Google review
Looks nice on the outside, but beans taste like out of a can and they had hot dogs in it🤢, pico de gallo was not fresh at all🤢, steak meat taste more gamey, so not sure if that fresh enough. Drive thru girl was pleasant and food served fairly fast….and green salsa side was the best out of the entire: Steak Bowl. Came out @$18 for this lunch.
Dani — Google review
The food here is great! Everything we've tried has been delicious! The service is good and the restaurant is comfortable. There's not a ton of seating so you may want to get here early.
Dale S — Google review
They have the best burritos in Waco by far. They do have one glaring weakness which is the red salsa as it has gotten better its still more tomato soupish however everything else is amazing especially the green salsa for the burritos.

Fine dining restaurant
Red Herring Restaurant & Bar in Waco has quickly become a popular spot, offering flawless service and delicious cuisine. The squid ink pasta is a must-try, bursting with flavor, and the curated cocktail menu perfectly complements the meal. The ambiance is unique with a stunning piano in the lounge area. It's an upscale and trendy spot that fills a void in Waco's dining scene. With its modern 70s aesthetic, it's great for family dinners, celebrations, or classy dates.
Amazing solo dine-in experience at Red Herring. The service and the foods are top notch. I had Keith as my server, and he was really friendly (and he also recommended really good food on the menu). Definitely come back for my next trip to Waco. P/S: Really sorry for the confusion when I was ordering by the way. You guys are amazing💯
Bui H — Google review
My husband and I were visiting Waco, we wanted to go to a nice restaurant for dinner and I found Red Herring Restaurant & Bar online. The food , atmosphere, service were amazing. If you are into plants (like me) they have so many real plants all throughout the restaurant. The only downside was it wasn’t very cool inside so we were getting warm towards the end of our meal after a few drinks.
Katie B — Google review
The delicious food, creative bar menu, rooftop views and super cool vibe and decor make it a must do in Waco. Super close to Baylor University and the perfect place for a date night or special event. The banquet space is stunning!
Bert M — Google review
Absolutely Wonderful Experience We had the best time at this restaurant. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful — warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxing night out. The food was incredible from start to finish, but the standout was definitely the bacon-wrapped shrimp. We loved it so much we’re still talking about it! The service was truly first class. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for amazing food paired with an unforgettable dining experience. We will definitely be back!
Courtney G — Google review
This place brings something different to Waco which I love. Their style of serving smaller portions meant to be shared around the table is also great. It’s something very common in other countries. The service was top notch. Some of the best I’ve seen in a while. I highly recommend the focaccia and the crispy potatoes. They have a lot of vegetarian options, and there’s really something for everyone here without the menu being too overwhelming. I liked the ambience, but did feel like it was a little overly dark. Overall nice good addition to Waco’s food scene.
Taylor T — Google review
If you’re considering dining here, be prepared for small portion sizes—yes, even the medium and large plates lean on the modest side. A good way to tell what size you're working with is to glance at the plates arriving at nearby tables before you order. There was some confusion at the start: bread and Caesar salads were brought to our table, and we initially assumed they were complimentary. Turns out, both belonged to the table next to us. It wasn’t our server’s fault, as different staff members deliver the food, but it was a little awkward. Now, on to the food: we ordered the dressed oysters, pork belly skewers, and crab cake. All three were delicious—flavorful, well-prepared, and nicely presented. Again though, portions were on the smaller side. The dress code is best described as business casual. While we saw a few diners in shorts and flip-flops, most were dressed a bit more upscale. I wore distressed (holely) capri jeans with wedge sandals and still felt slightly underdressed. Reservations are a good idea, though you can hang out at the bar while waiting for a table. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, and the staff was friendly and professional throughout our visit. This is a Mediterranean-inspired menu with prices ranging from $9 to $45. Overall, it was a great experience with high-quality food and service—just don’t expect to leave full unless you’re ordering multiple dishes.
Veronica M — Google review
This has to be the most beautiful restaurant in all of Waco. The food here is phenomenal and the service is amazing. I enjoyed everything that I ordered here - the Wagyu skewers and the Crudo are a must! The carrots and meatballs are also really good. Super affordable compared to Austin. Seriously, such a lovely place and I would definitely come back.
C M — Google review
Bartender Zach was absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcome with his warm personality and incredible drink-making skills. Every cocktail was crafted to perfection, and his energy truly elevated our night. Zach didn’t just serve drinks—he created an unforgettable experience.

Coffee shop
Be Kind Coffee - Downtown is a community-oriented cafe with three locations in the city. The modern interior design, adorned with bright murals and fun designs, sets it apart from typical cafes. Despite some issues with drink consistency, the staff are known for their kindness and courtesy. The cafe offers a vibrant atmosphere with cute live plants on tables and ample natural light. Although there may be occasional wait times due to large groups, the friendly service and appealing aesthetics make it a favorite spot for many visitors.
The quality of the beverages was truly impressive. I was pleasantly surprised by how great they tasted. Even in big cities like New York or Los Angeles, it’s rare to find flavors like these. Finding a good matcha place is especially challenging, but the quality here is exceptional. Even the Taro Matcha was outstanding.
Aaron U — Google review
Alex and his team literally keep Waco running. I followed them from the Lake Air location to the spot on Washington and I’d follow them to Jupiter if we took Be Kind to space. Always greeted with a smile. They have a DJ this morning for no real reason at all, and it made my whole day. Best lattes, too, truly. You can tell they care and take the time to make it special. Wouldn’t be the same without their Churro latte. Best matcha in town. And now that they have bagels, mornings got a lot kinder :)
Florence L — Google review
Such a cute and bright space! Love the branding and merch. Lots of vegan/dairy free options. I was craving a bagel and they had 2 dairy free vegan cream cheese options (which is so rare)!

Great coffee, great staff, and a great environment all around. The vibes are welcoming, and the service makes you feel right at home. Highly recommend Be Kind Coffee for both locals and visitors—definitely a 10/10 experience!

I made a few trips to Be Kind while on my trip this week to Waco. My favorite was the Chuurro and Do Good iced latte, but I think everything was great. These were so light and refreshing. I love a good refresher in the summer. Service was quick and the shop was so cute. Had a great meet up with friends

Such a cute coffee shop. Doesn’t really smell like coffee inside. It’s clean, and the staff were very nice! (Even tho they didn’t get my name right…it is a little small and can get loud inside when there are a lot of people). The Trippy Willy is my favorite drink!!
Alyssa K — Google review
Absolutely loved the strawberry matcha! The quality of the matcha showed in its color and flavor. Be Kind makes their syrups from scratch and I absolutely loved the strawberry syrup! I'm really curious to see if a type of chocolate-covered strawberry flavored latte would work here! (I imagine using half strawberry syrup and maybe some white chocolate syrup?) As a college student, I loved its proximity to campus, the music playing (and its volume) and the outlet availability. The tables along the walls had access to outlets which was very nice and needed. Can't wait to come back !! (11/13/24)

Silos Baking Co. is a charming bakery in Waco, Texas, owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines. Despite the misconception that the couple spends their time there, they are not always present due to security reasons. The bakery offers a variety of pastries, breads, and cupcakes for visitors to enjoy. A trip to Magnolia Market at the Silos can be an exciting vacation for fans of Chip and Joanna Gaines or those looking to explore where Fixer Upper began.
It was a dream come true to finally visit the Sillos. I’ve been a fan of Johana and Chip for the longest. When my son had to go compete at Dallas I figured we can rent a car and drive south to Waco. It did not disappoint the road trip was beautiful but the pastries were amazing and to die for. My favorite was the lemon lavender so delicious. Loved every one of them. Service was quick, it was a long line but you grab a menu card mark what you want, pay for it and they call you by your name once is done. Loved how fast that long line moved. We started outside and within 10 minutes we were done and with the package secured. 😉😜 IYKYK 😝

So I got an oatmeal creame pie, cookie , I'm warming ya ahead of time way to sweet for that and at $6 I couldn't even eat 1/4 of it. The smell when the door is opened omgosh if your not hungry it'll make ya lol. Just wished they had croissants. $4.50 for Cinnamon Roll wasn't a bad price. There was a line to get in. They hand ya a menu to order from in the line outside. They had some merchandise inside also.
K C — Google review
While the cupcakes were outstanding, the chocolate chip cookie was very disappointing. The cupcakes (chocolate and strawberry cream) were among the best you’ll ever taste—proportional creamy topping over a moist, dense cake. The cookie was a different story. I’m not a chocolate fanatic, but the chocolate chip to cookie ratio was lacking even by my standards (see photo). I expected much better from Magnolia. Highly recommend (the cupcakes but not the chocolate chip cookie)!
Richard N — Google review
Silos Baking Co. has a beautiful vibe and is such a fun stop, especially as part of the whole Silos experience. The bakery is charming, the aesthetic is on point, and it’s definitely exciting to finally see it in person after growing up watching Chip and Joanna. That said, the pastries were a bit of a letdown for me. I found them on the dry side — I personally prefer my biscuits and pastries to be a bit more moist and tender. I'm not sure if it was a freshness issue or just their baking style, but it didn't quite live up to the visual appeal. Still, it was worth the visit for the experience, and checking this off my Magnolia bucket list made the long trip feel complete. If you’re a fan of the show, it’s definitely something you’ll want to see for yourself — just maybe adjust your expectations on the baked goods.
The G — Google review
Stopped at the Silos Baking Co. while on our vacation and could not have been more pleased with the visit. There was a young lady (sorry I didn't get her name) outside the door who nwas handing out "Menus" of items served and available inside. I understand this would REALLYT be helpful on bbusy days as I understand crowds can be lined up out the door. As it was, we walkedd right in, made our purchase of coffee, a muffin and cupcake, asas well as cinnamon rolls for the next morning. Everything was packaged neatly in the bag shown, so I wasn't able to show you how delicious it was. My advise to everyone ... arrive early. Be aware, the Silos and Magnolia Table locations have come to be destinations. Yeah, there are VERY busy days, so plan accordingly.
Robert K — Google review
Even in the rain, there’s a line to get into Silos Baking Co. — and for good reason! The smell of fresh pastries and cupcakes hits you the moment you walk up, and it’s absolutely worth the wait. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and everything tastes homemade with love. Rain or shine, this place is a must-stop in Waco! 🌧️☕🍰
Alfio V — Google review
Wow!!! These cupcakes are incredible. I am a huge icing lover, so these were perfect. We got the lemon, strawberry, bruiser and chocolate one. The lemon was our favorite!!
Michelle N — Google review
While visiting Magnolia Market, we were most excited to visit the bakery. It was not crowded when we arrived around 11am on a Thursday and decided to try the carrot cake and lavender lemon cupcakes. They looked delicious and were packed in a cute little box; however, both of our cupcakes were somewhat dry, which was completely shocking after hearing for years how amazing they are. The carrot cake was actually a little crumbly, rather than moist, so sad. The frosting was smooth and creamy, loved the texture, and I'm not a frosting person, but it was good. I LOVE sweets and I can't believe I'm saying this, but it was a little too sweet, even for me - another shocker. I was going to get a cookie for later, but after eating the cupcakes, we decided against it.

Common Grounds Waco is a popular coffee shop known for its welcoming atmosphere and rustic decor, making it a favorite spot among college students. For the past two decades, this establishment has been a go-to destination for students, professionals, and families to socialize, study, and enjoy great coffee. The menu features tempting signature beverages like Cowboy Coffee and Nervous Breakdown. Additionally, the venue hosts live music performances that add to its charm.
The staff is very try friendly and very helpful. Very nice and pleasant to deal with. The Mocha is literally best I’ve ever had in my life. For someone who like their coffee to have a kick the large has 4 shots of expresso in it which is right up my alley. I would recommend this for anyone. It is a nice little coffee shop. They also have a drive through as well. There is a nice back area with stage for music.

Cute little coffee shop. Lots of quiet places to work or do school. Outdoor area is cool with lots of seating also. I got an iced latte "caramel coffee crunch" with oat milk and it was good. Their signature sauce flavor is nice and not too sweet! Next time I'll take my purse with me to get my order so I can grab a bottle for $10.

Waco Downtown Farmers Market is a vibrant open-air market located at 500 Washington Ave. It was established in 2011 and has since become a bustling hub of local activity. Every Saturday, visitors can explore the market's array of offerings, including fresh farm produce, artisanal products, and handmade crafts. The market also features live music and seasonal Handmade Markets. Visitors are welcome to bring their leashed pets while they browse the diverse selection of goods from local vendors.
It was nice. Fresh food vendors, food trucks, live music. Parking was a little challenging. Lots space for kids, dogs. I feel like they have a lot of room for more vendors. Would have loved to have seen leather goods, cowboy hats, local souvenirs like Texas t-shirts, etc. We are from NC.

I stopped by over the weekend and really liked it. There are lots of food trucks and cute little stands. I was hoping to find more veggies, so that part was a bit disappointing. It’s a fun spot though, with a nice setup and very friendly vendors. The wildflowers were my favorite. If we had more time in town, I would’ve grabbed so much more. The coffee was amazing too. It gets busy, and there’s not much parking, so wear comfy shoes and maybe bring some shade. Great spot to check out for families, kids, and even dogs. Worth going to if you’re nearby!

It was wonderful in terms of selection, free nearby street parking, and variety, but it would have been better if they could erect tents to provide some shade. I can imagine it gets way too hot in the middle of the summer, and there was absolutely no where to go to get out of the heat.

Bare Arms Brewing is Waco's first craft brewery and has consistently been voted as the top choice by locals. The brewery is dedicated to producing exceptional craft beer and takes pride in offering a variety of flagship beers available in restaurants, as well as seasonal, special, and unique brews exclusively found in their taproom. As the oldest continuously operating brewery in Waco, Bare Arms Brewing stands out for its veteran-owned establishment and commitment to providing an outstanding selection of local brews.
This was the best brewery we stopped at in Waco. Their flight gave us an opportunity to try several of their vast menu of varieties. Even their seltzer was great. The bartenders were friendly and helpful, and the tables were a comfortable place to chat over drinks. We stopped by twice in two days and will definitely come again the next time we're in Waco. The storefront has a large parking lot adjoining two main streets.

We walked in at 10:02 the cook was kind to us and cooked appetizers even though they stopped cooking at 10. We ordered a flight of beer to share between two people. The Arnold Palmer seltzer was my favorite! We had an impromptu tour of the brewery by the owner. It was neat to hear how he operates his brewery.

Bare Arms Brewing is the place to be in Waco! With a large selection of brews, plenty of seating, games to play and delicious grilled food, you can't go wrong. We started with a flight to find our favorites, ordered some food and then just sat back the rest of the night and enjoyed all the company of locals and visitors. The flights are generous so no problems finding a favorite. We also enjoyed a tour of the brewery where the owner gave us an in depth overview of the brewing process. With excellent service, food and brew, Bare Arms will always be at the top of our list of Waco hot spots!
