Pub
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Whyte Avenue, The Black Dog Freehouse is a lively tavern that perfectly captures the essence of a classic pub experience. With its relaxed ambiance and an eclectic mix of local DJ music on weekends, it’s an ideal spot for both locals and visitors to unwind. One of its standout features is the Woof-top patio, celebrated as one of the finest rooftop spaces in Edmonton—perfect for basking in sunshine or enjoying warm evenings under the stars.
I’ve been here many times but the last time was the most memorable. I had gone downstairs towards the bathrooms, casual as any other visit. I was about to enter, when I suddenly spotted a small gnome (a literal gnome, the folklore creature). In my culture, gnomes are either a sign of good fortune or of impending doom. I wagered my options as he laughed and disappeared into a small puff of smoke in front of my very eyes, and I quickly used the bathrooms and returned upstairs to finish my drink. It’s been nearly two weeks now and I haven’t had any signs of good fortune or of impending doom, and I hope it isn’t the latter. I hope my five star review puts me in good favour with the gnomes, and invites others to do the same so that we could all benefit from the gnomes. Thank you

Ah the Black Dog! When I lived here in Edmonton way back when it was one of my favourite places to go. The ambience and atmosphere were special and the happy hour prices were great! It still has the same appeal after all these years though my only gripe is that the music seems a bit louder. It does hold a special place in my heart because it’s where I met my better half 😌
Yodaman S — Google review
An Edmonton classic. The atmosphere is amazing. The rooftop patio is my favourite place to sit, but there's plenty of seating on the main floor, there's also a back patio, and on busy nights they open up the bottom floor for events. They have dart boards, and host live music frequently. The beer prices are the best in the city. It's bar service only and they don't have a kitchen, but you're allowed to bring/order in your own food.

The bartenders playlist was the best music I've heard outside my own house in years! LOVE this place and the music nuts that come to check out ORIGINAL music! Such a rare thing, love the Black Dog! Go now!

Bouncers of this place beat up a buddy of mine last week based on false hearsay from a friend of theirs. Used to love their Friday night Underdog jam but am not going ever again. Sorry Black Dog, I enjoyed the times we had but that’s bullshit. - Sam Toms

They dont allow you to run a tab , understandable, but instead they Just grab any money you have left on the counter . I allways tip at the end when Iam leaving but not here anymoree If I leave the change of 10 dollars beside my beer and go the washroom they Just take it for themselves without even asking. Not OK..
Bob S — Google review
Well, I wish that Google had N/A stars because I actually didn't eat here or have table service. I visited a stand up comedy show, and it was really funny! Free show, great talent, and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're in town...visiting from Niagara.

This place used to be a good bar until they started banning people for no reason. I have a few indigenous friends who have been banned for absolutely no reason at all. Seems like a pattern for them because most of the people have been either indigenous or of culture.

CRAFT Beer Market in Edmonton is a sophisticated gastropub that boasts an extensive selection of over 100 microbrews, making it a haven for beer enthusiasts. The pub offers local and seasonal pub fare in a stylish and airy interior, but the real charm lies on its patio where patrons can enjoy their drinks amidst the city's ambiance. This establishment prides itself on having the largest draft beer selection in Canada, featuring both local and international brews.
Came here for lunch for the first time ever. They had a really nice happy hour menu and really good drink menu. We had a little bit of everything. Everything was tasty and delicious. We ordered wings, Korean ribs, a bunch of sushi appetizers and truffle fries and some beers. Our waiter was great as well. I highly recommend this place if you're downtown and looking for a place to have a beer and some food and possibly watch a game! Only thing is parking can be tough because it's downtown and it's expected. We parked at the library underground and it was really cheap. Did you have street parking but it's usually taken because that's a very busy area..

Ayyyy what a great place!!! My good friend and I went here for dinner the other day and oh my gosh - such a great spot to have delicious quality drinks, shareables and meals. We were unfortunately full by the time dessert came around but we shall try that next time. This place is set up so beautifully and has such a refreshing, calm vibe! The kind workers exceed satisfaction of effort - outstanding staff there that make you feel welcome and comfortable! Highly recommend this absolutely wonderful place to dine and chill!
Abigail — Google review
Unfortunately, our experience here was disappointing. The burgers were incredibly dry — easily the driest we’ve had in Edmonton. When the server asked how everything was, we gave an honest “it’s okay,” but all we got in response was a quick “ah ok” with no follow-up. The salmon bowl was another letdown — it was so overwhelmingly spicy that it became inedible. We ended up leaving a good portion of it untouched. Overall, the food missed the mark, and the service felt indifferent. Definitely not a place we’d rush back to.

Craft Beer Market is a fantastic modern taphouse with a great vibe and lively atmosphere. The space is spacious and welcoming, making it ideal for both groups and casual nights out. They have an outstanding selection of beers on tap along with a well-crafted cocktail menu, and the food was equally impressive fresh, flavorful, and a perfect match for the drinks. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy good food and drinks in a fun, relaxed setting. Highly recommended!

Late happy hour after 9pm. Of course beer was tasty and foods were so great. I wanna go there next time.

Had a great night at CRAFT! The atmosphere was lively, the food was delicious, and Amy took amazing care of our table—she was friendly ,attentive, and made sure everything was just right.

Had a great time at Craft this week. We made a reservation as there was a concert in town that night so weren't sure how busy it would be, being so close to the arena. We got there early and were seated almost right away. The hostess was very friendly. Amy was our server and did an awesome job. She provided the right amount of attention and made some really great drink recommendations - most were surprise requests and she picked well. We had the korean ribs and pork carnitas to start which were incredibly tasty. The ribs were fall of the bone tender and full of flavor. Delicious! My son had the crispy chicken burger which was also really good. It could have been just a bit crisper but overall, he enjoyed it. The place didn't seem too loud although it did fill up pretty quick. It never seemed like we were shouting to hear each other. The bathrooms were very nice too. Overall, we enjoyed out time. Thanks again to Amy - she was awesome!
Lee — Google review
Although the physical space is great, the DJ had a good vibe going & good options on the tvs if you wanted to tune out and watch sports. The food was horrible! I haven’t had such a poor dining experience in a very long time. The prices were beyond high for such a low quality food. We were never once asked how our food was. I feel it’s b/c they know it’s not food. And the drinks were so-so. Could make them better at home. I would happily pay a high price point if the food is good but it was far from it. And sadly my friend experienced the same thing the night before and actually felt ill the next day. I will not be recommending CRAFT to anyone. It’s good to watch the game and drink a beer. That’s it. But tbh do no waste your time. Go across the street to the other restaurants and pub. Do not waste your money or time at craft.

Located on the 5th floor of the JW Marriott hotel in downtown Edmonton, Alchemy Bar is a hidden gem known for its intimate indoor cocktail lounge and spacious heated patio with stunning views over Rogers Place. The bar offers a menu of handcrafted beverages, featuring both classic and modern cocktails paired with sophisticated bar snacks. With its Prohibition-era cocktails and modern creations served in vintage glassware, Alchemy Bar provides a unique experience for cocktail enthusiasts.
One of my favorite staples in Edmonton. Very luxurious Cocktail bar. People would say it's pricey here, but you also pay for professional, impeccable service, accompanied by exquisite, fantastic cocktails. Highly recommend this establishment. Shout out to Meghan. Outstanding staff.

I “proposed” to my bridesmaids here, and the staff went above and beyond to make it such a special surprise for them. We enjoyed drinks and appies and absolutely loved the ambiance!

A speakeasy behind the bookcase. Limited seating inside. Luckily they have patio which has much greater vibe than on the inside. Limited menu and still Drinks and Food was good. Service was pleasant too. Ordered Chicken Skewers and Chicken Bao. For veg we got the Flatbread and the Chip and Dip. For Cocktails we got Mule and Sangria and were great. Got White wine recommended by the server which was good. Also got couple of Beers. All in all it was a good experience. Must try!

Great place for drinks and snackies. The oysters on shell were an awesome 😎 price and super fresh. I had a great 👍 custom made cocktail 🍹 which I thoroughly enjoyed. Ambiance was completely on par. Love the speakeasy feel and, the service. Honestly, menu items were a bit pricey and, as were 🍷 drinks. I would love 💕 to see a bit more happy hour items offered. Most definitely will return and, enjoy 😊 your great 😊 patio. Thank you for giving my son a memorable birthday 🎂

I am born and raised in Edmonton. 29 years old. Love to visit as many Edmonton restaurants/lounges as I can. I always come back to places that me and my friends have great moments/times at. Alchemy is by far the place I come back to the most, and a big reason is because of Riley. Absolutely amazing service. Me and my friends told him our name the first time we went there, and it was only for 20 minutes during the oilers playoff hype. He remembered me and all my friends, and always made sure we were having a great time. That’s very rare in this day and age. The entire staff is always so accommodating, and helpful, and are always there for their customers. Riley is a big reason we always come back whenever we are downtown, and will continue to be. I hope he becomes part of management, because the hospitality he shows us is out of this world. Secret menu item is a matcha espresso martini, that he invented. Would highly recommend ordering it. It’s absolutely amazing.

The entire service from head to toe was absolutely amazing! My wife and I went out for a cute, late night date and were greeted by two lovely women at the door which was covered by a bunch of books and looked absolutely amazing and discrete! Unfortunately, there was no spot in the actual bar, so we had to wait a while in the extension room, which wasn’t a big deal because maybe 15 minutes later they found some room to sit us in the main bar area. We were greeted by Hudson, the bartender making drinks behind the bar! Hudson is an absolute gem and treated us like family that we’ve known for quite some time! Super nice, super down to earth, and very attentive to our needs. I asked him to surprise me with a drink made with blue curaçao, which is my absolute favourite type of alcohol and it was outstandingly delicious! Would definitely come back again with friends and family and I’ll make sure that Hudson is there prior to arriving! What a great dude and what a great place! 10/10 GO HUDSON GO!!
Rayan D — Google review
This is a really cool and upscale speakeasy (I’d just call it a bar)! It’s nice for a fancy cocktail and there were some really interesting options! We loved trying new ones. Considering that it’s upscale, in the Marriott and such, the prices aren’t shocking to me but if you’re looking for affordable fancy cocktails this isn’t the place for you. Our servers were very attentive! The food was small in portion and underwhelming but tasty!
Vanessa L — Google review
We recently visited this establishment, expecting to cap off the night with what we assumed to be a elegant and upscale cocktail bar. From the start, the hostess and server were not in alignment with available seating and services, this set the stage for the remainder of night. Due to air quality issues, arrangements were made to move patrons from the patio to indoors. We were notified by our server that a table in the private room had been made available to us and once we were ready someone would come and accompany us to said seating. Upon relocating indoors, we were seated at a completely different room and table than what was assured without notification. A low light to what was otherwise a night filled with highs. Will not and cannot recommend any dignified person to subject themselves to that kind of service.

The Confederation Lounge & Patio at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton offers a unique and luxurious experience for cocktail enthusiasts. Renowned for its elevated beverage menu, the lounge boasts a carefully curated selection of spirits, including the rare Dalmore whisky collection. Situated in a historical site with recent renovations, the lounge provides a glimpse into Edmonton's past while offering exclusive sips.
I came by to the Confederation Lounge to have a drink after walking around the riverside. While I didn't order any food during the stay I did have a few drinks and the place was during a slower portion of the day and I enjoyed my time there. I want to recognize Dave, who was very welcoming and explained the drink menu well, and came to check in several times. He offered an exceptional level of service. I will be looking forward to coming back when the patio is open and look to try the extended menu. I believe the price during Happy Hour was fair priced and for the type of establishment this location is, the cocktails were also fair valued.

This was our first visit on April 4, 2025, for lunch at 12:30. The service was decent, and Michelle was very pleasant and attentive to our needs. The appetizers were excellent—full of flavor and beautifully presented. 5/5. The salmon lacked taste, but the accompanying sauce helped make it passable. 3/5. The beef rib plate had an appealing presentation, but the meat was tough, of inferior quality, and lacked flavor. Every bite needed to be dipped in the gravy to be enjoyable. 3/5. Dessert was disappointing. Our selected item was unavailable, and we were instead recommended “Pariss”—an oatmeal paste in a dry pastry. While it was nicely assembled, it was nearly flavorless, aside from a little caramel and two small pieces of chocolate. 0/5.
Yvon B — Google review
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Confederation Lounge tonight, and it was truly a delightful experience. The food was nothing short of magnificent; every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The highlight of our meal was the chocolate hazelnut martini dessert, which definitely took the cake! It was one of the best desserts I’ve had to date—rich, creamy, and so so tasty! Highly recommend this dessert. The service was equally impressive. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. While I regret not catching his name, I want to give him a heartfelt shout-out for his fantastic service. The ambiance was lovely, enhanced by the perfect weather, which made our evening even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable night, and I highly recommend the Confederation Lounge for anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience.

This was last May and I wasn’t able to take note of the official names of our food but I believe we had croquettes, chicken wings, and pumpkin soup. As for the drinks, we had the espresso martini and white wine. I liked the wings and the croquettes. As for the pumpkin soup, it was rich in flavor and it was truly a puree. Personally, I prefer my pumpkin soup with a little bit of milk and sweetness to it. However, it was still nicely done. The drinks were also good. Service was nice. I felt a little judgment from some staff when we came in, but our server was nice. The highlight, I would say, is the atmosphere. I love how it gives you a view of Downtown Edmonton. The facade of the hotel itself and the tasteful interior design brings the lounge to another level. It is Fairmont so it is expected.
Ina Z — Google review
It was a nice evening in this place, I really like the atmosphere in there. The interior is extremely fancy, what i really liked. Coffee is good in there but desserts are not that good, they are okay but nothing special as I expected. Also it took some time to have a chance to talk with waiter which is not really good. Overall good place for meetings if you want to feel this fancy vibe.
Iuliannnaa T — Google review
We came back to the Confederation Lounge for the second time in two weeks. The service was friendly, attentive, and prompt. The food was sensational. The views from the patio show Edmonton’s river valley at its best.

Perfect for an anniversary celebration. Cozy, ambient and charming. The food was tasty and presentation was lovely. Our server Daniel was professional and personable. Best service we’ve had in a long time at any restaurant. Highly recommend. Thanks Daniel! The hostess was also notable - very kind and welcoming. Thanks team, for a great experience!

I took the family I nanny out for dinner and had a wonderful experience!! I showed up later to give them some time to have dinner alone and Kae took excellent care of them from quick and efficient service to allowing me to pay the bill when they were fighting me for it! As someone who enjoys treating the people I love out, it was very appreciated! We were the last ones out on the patio (around 10 pm— it’s getting chilly now and there was heated lamps and blankets handed out so we could stay as long as we wanted whilst remaining cozy!) and we didn’t feel rushed at all to move back inside. We ended up ordering wings— crispy and seasoned to perfection as well as oysters, a quality comparable to any coastal region! I’m from B.C and not a big fan of pacific oysters as I find them too brined but these bad boys are from the east coast! Steak frites was unreal and cooked to perfection and the chicken panino was one of the best chicken sandwiches we’ve had in awhile! That alongside frosty mugged beer and perfectly crisp veuve, it was a meal none of us will forget for a while! Thank you fairmont team for assisting us in a delightful evening!

The Canadian Brewhouse is a quintessential Canadian-themed restaurant and sports bar that captures the essence of a classic pub. Its diverse menu features an array of appetizers, entrees, and an extensive selection of beverages. The establishment hosts various events throughout the year, catering to community leagues and fundraisers, creating a vibrant atmosphere for locals to come together.
Just went for a Mother’s Day brunch, completely unaware that it would be free for all mothers! Wow!! what a beautiful experience. Jorgia was our server, she’s normally a bartender, but to help out she served for the day and she was amazing, my daughter‘s food took a little longer so she brought her a little bowl of tater tots to hold her over. Everything was great.5/5! Will def return!

Went on their special steak night, we ordered the steak medium rare and it came back blue rare, it was a massive steak so I can see it being under done but it was way too much, my friend sent it back twice to get it cooked further. The quality of the meat was good so that was good when we took it home and cooked it properly. I'd try out the steak night again but would be willing to wait longer for a properly cooked steak. Server was great and accommodating.

When we arrived a few of the wait staff were playing on there phones, didn't acknowledge us, while they stood at the corner of the bar and behind the bar. For only being 3 seated tables in the establishment it was very dirty with food on the floor all along the high top booths. Makes me wonder if the front of the house is in this kinda shape whats the back of the house look like

Aislin was genuinely one of the best servers I’ve had in years. Cups full, genuine conversation, good vibes. I’ve worked in the industry for over 13 years and I’d offer her a job any day at one of my locations. Brewhouse has never been a spot for myself but she made me reconsider; I’ve actually avoided this location because of service before, but she could save the place. Gold star, keep her around

Terrible experience. We waited over 30 minutes for our food on a night when the restaurant was half full. When it finally arrived, the kitchen waitress literally dumped the plates on the table without cutlery, turned and left. We flagged down our table waitress and asked for cutlery and she brought 1 knife/1 fork for 2 people! Once we finally got cutlery for both of us, we tasted the food which was lukewarm and had clearly been sitting on some kitchen shelf for at least 15 minutes . The burger patty was so black and hard it was disgusting; the fries limp and tasteless. We spoke to the manager who cleared the food from our table and who offered us another opportunity to order food. We declined and she took the food off our bill. We paid for our drinks and left disappointed. We certainly will not be back.

Olivia was quite possibly the best waitress I've ever had. She certainly is the only one that has gotten a 25% from me. Keep up the amazing work.... Canadian Brewhouse on its own is good too. The amount of ribs you get on Monday for $9.99 is astounding. Almost too many. I'd highly recommend a meal at Brewhouse

Olivia was great! Here with my little man for dinner. The kids meal was incredible. The pricing was great. But the service was the best. Comfortable, catered, to and happy. Thank you so much to Olivia!.

Was excited that prime rib is on special, but unfortunately, it happened to be the worst prime rib I’ve ever had in my life lots of grissle and very tough. The poutine tater supreme, and the Yorkie bites were just fine. The rest of the table enjoyed their food. I did email the manager as he asked below, but he did not respond.

Hamburger restaurant
Fox Burger, located in the heart of Edmonton, is a must-visit for burger enthusiasts. This trendy spot features an inviting rooftop patio that offers a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle, making it an ideal place to indulge in their gourmet burgers. The menu showcases modern takes on classic drive-in fare, with options like bacon and pepper-topped creations or a traditional American cheeseburger.
Having driven by many times and seeing line ups we made reservations for a Saturday lunch. We were quickly seated in the main level dining room. Bright and airy atmosphere with attentive service. We started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip. Tasty and a perfect small starter. Next came the burgers. The Inferno Smash with a side of Thai Cabbage Salad, The Highlands Green with a side of Animal Fries and finally the American Cheeseburger with Bacon and a side of garlic fries. The servings are large! The burgers were probably some of the best in the city. Smashed patties provided the crispy and flavorful meat that makes the burger. The fries were crisp and plentiful. The Thai Salad quickly disappeared. If you are looking for a great burger and have an appetite this is the place. We will be back!

WOW!!! We randomly decided to go to lunch at this amazing restaurant and we’re so blown away by it! Firstly, I think they have one of the best roof top patios in Edmonton (we were not even looking for a patio). Secondly the outstandingly service and last but not least the DELICIOUS food!! Overall I can’t recommend this restaurant enough, I believe it’s local to Edmonton and they have stuck to the local roots. We will definitely be back, albeit in the evening when we can have a few beers! Great work by management and all the staff 😊😊

A group of friends chose Fox Burger as an excellent place for a meet up! We had a large table on the rooftop patio, which had a great view and was a lovely place to view the evening sky and it's parade of colours. It was also peaceful, quiet and easy to hear each other speak. The staff was amazing, attentive, and helpful, they really took good care of us (we were around 10 people). Every meal I've tried her has been tasty and fun to eat. This visit I had the cheese burger and I loved it. The dining space has limited seating, so I highly recommend making a reservation. We had no wait as we had a reservation and also they were ready for us before we arrived. If you haven't tried Fox Burger yet you are missing out.

Our first time here. Food was amazing. We ordered fox cheeseburger with a lettuce wrap and garlic fries and animal burger with garlic fries and saskatoon lemonades. The fries were fantastic, garlicky and crispy. The burgers were wonderful. So tasty and we cleared our plates. The only thing preventing a 5 star review was the service. We waited 15 minutes for the waiter to come and talk to us. Watched as others who came in behind us were served drinks and food.

Awesomeee edmonton burger place. Been a while since my last visit here and I forgot how yummy their food is. Perfect smash burgers with delish varieties- I grabbed their mushroom Swiss which I devoured even though it was huge🔥🔥 and my friend had the animal style. I upgraded my fries to my animal fries and lowkey it’s not my fav thing since I don’t like mustard (🚩 ik) so I’d try their garlic fries next time perhaps…. But still, overall their food and vibes are top notch in the city and a must visit for burger fans🙌🙌🙌

What a great place for smash burger 🍔 @ garlic fries!!! So so good! And the kind efficient service is on point! Highly recommend this wonderful place (:
Abigail — Google review
Food was good but the burger patties themselves could of used more seasoning, the animal burger was very mustard forward, i did add ketchup towards the end, although my burger didnt hold up very well and ended up falling apart, what i can say is tho that you do get a sizable portion of fries and the garlic fries are tasty, i like garlic but to someone who is sensitive might be too much garlic, sevice was friendly but when i asked for extra ketchup i was forgotten about, also no napkins were served at the table, atmosphere is a cozy when theres not many people but it is a small space and when its busy its hard to talk over everyone. Honestly it wasnt bad i was just expecting a little better considering the hype.

Food is great, rooftop patio is great. This review is prompted by watching an employee unscrew and lift up the patio boards to go down and look for a lost wedding ring. These folks rock

Spotlight Cabaret is a lively venue with a roaring twenties theme, featuring a rooftop patio and live entertainment. Guests can indulge in dinner theatre, drag, burlesque, improv, comedy, and live music while enjoying a variety of local and out-of-province beers and ciders. The venue also offers a seasonal menu for patrons to savor.
A completely unique, personal and hilarious experience from start to finish! Food was amazing, the performers and servers rocked and I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. We went with a group and ended up being by ourselves at a two seat table and somehow got the spotlight on us for jokes and conversation. Our names and personal lives were added into the show more than once and it was delightful! And the music was great! Thanks for the awesome evening!

Just had the best time here for the Tina Burner drag brunch. The food was fantastic!!! And the service was the best I've experienced in a long time. Absolutely would recommend and I'm planning to watch the schedule for another event to check out.

A well needed oasis at the climax of the Fringe festival. Their main dining room was a venue but they kept their rooftop patio open for everyone else. The well decorated, well lit, and heated patio, complete with rooftop bar overlooks Whyte Avenue and the Fringe grounds. The view is spectacular. It is a climb to the top and not mobility friendly but if you are able to make the climb you should. Furnished with comfortable patio furniture and high pub tables to enable the view, the atmosphere is upbeat and a breath of fresh air on a warm summer night. We ordered the Shrimp pesto pasta which was cooked well and flavourful. My husband had chicken strips and Caesar salad which were quite good. I had a couple beautiful margaritas garnished with dried limes and he had the IPA on tap which he really enjoyed with his discerning tastes. Our waitress was attentive, upbeat, and friendly. They allowed us to move to a table with a better view as soon as one became available. Don’t miss this wonderful place and when you can, take in one of their shows in the gorgeous main dining room.

Hilarious, heart warming, and beautifully well acted musical parody with delicious four course meal to accompany it?? The only con is that I haven't been here sooner! The 1920s atmosphere is so fun, the audience participation is hysterical, and they were super accommodating with dietary restrictions including vegan and allergies.

This was my second time experiencing Spotlight Cabaret - my first was duelling pianos and that was great (definitely depends on the energy and music chosen from the crowd, as with any duelling piano experience). My girlfriends and I went to the Romeo & Juliet ‘s notebook last night and it was so engaging, comical and entertaining. Highly recommend. The crew are all so talented and the food was great!

Spotlight Cabaret is amazing! We had booked a table for 15 people at another place on whyte ave for my daughter's birthday, and they didn't have our reservation when we showed up. I called Spotlight on a Saturday night thinking there was no way they'd be able to get us in last minute, and they we're so accommodating, they got us a rooftop patio area for 15 people set up right away. The waitress was amazing, good food and drinks, great atmosphere I will always be booking my events there now! They saved the day! 🥂🎈

Fine dining restaurant
Nestled atop the Chateau Lacombe Hotel, La Ronde Revolving Restaurant is a culinary gem in Edmonton that promises an unforgettable dining experience. As the city's only revolving restaurant, it offers diners a unique opportunity to enjoy stunning 360-degree views of the skyline while indulging in upscale steak and seafood dishes. Each rotation takes about 88 minutes, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in both the flavors and sights around them.
Had dinner here for a special occasion recently, and it was great! Views were great, food was excellent and really well prepared. A lot of classical fine dining dishes mixed with some more modern choices. Definitely on the pricey side but worth the experience. Thought it was a bit odd that the wine list had half litre selections that were more expensive than two 9oz glasses, but ended up getting a bottle anyway. Will definitely be back!

Made reservations for 7:45pm. Still wasn’t seated by 8pm. Was asked to follow the hostess to my table. Halfway had words with a co worker who said take her back to the lobby. So we went back. At 8:10pm was taken to a table and was seated. Waiter came and took my drink order. The hostess came back and said we need to move you to another table. So back to the lobby I went. Waited again. She then took me to another table. I was not impressed and I was beyond embarrassed at that point. My server was great. Very friendly! Ordered the chicken breast. Tasted great, however stayed in the menu it was supposed to be a stuffed breast and it was not. It was very dry and very bland. I should have had the steak. Definitely wasn’t worth $49. I had cheesecake for dessert and took it to my room to enjoy later on. It was delicious!
Kelsey W — Google review
Way overpriced for the quality of food. They actually served instant mashed potatoes which is insane for the cost. The prawn starter was extremely over cooked. They served cold, almost stale bread to start and for a "fine dining" experience, that is just sad. Place needs to be renovated as it is very outdated and has not been updated likely since its opening. Takes away from the experience. Views are awesome. Our server was good. They offered a complimentary birthday dessert which was good. Overall, would not recommend to anybody to be perfectly honest.
Joe M — Google review
I must say that my expectations weren’t the highest due to the fact that I had been to La Ronde years ago and was almost certain the restaurant would be dated and still serving items from a 1970s steakhouse! I was pleasantly surprised. Even though the hotel is quite dated, the restaurant was up to date and clean. Menu was really good and the service was excellent, even though it was very busy. Wine, drinks and food were also very good. Washrooms were updated and clean as well. There are however, a couple of things i will call out. When we arrived, the hostess was indifferent and didn’t say much. We were not offered to check our coats. We were seated and I had to go around and ask where the wardrobe was located so we could leave our coats there. A pet peeve of mine is having to put my coat on the back of my chair. Luckily that was resolved in a couple of minutes by a very friendly worker. The other thing I would have liked to see has to do with the plating of the prime rib. The mash was served with a scoop just like in a cafeteria. Presentation could have been better. I’m only saying this because it is an upscale place. I would also like to have seen a sauce/gravy served on the side that I could pour over the Yorkshire pudding. Otherwise it’s just a dry prop on the plate! Still, the food was delicious and for that reason, I want to give 4 stars to La Ronde. Views are great. Our waiter and support staff were outstanding. Kudos to you all.

We went for the brunch buffet and had a really nice time. We enjoyed the food, the ambience, and especially the 360 view of the city skyline and river valley. The receptionist was a bit poker-faced, but our server was super friendly, which made up for it! The buffet had a wide variety of options, even for me as a vegetarian. Price-wise, it’s a bit expensive for an average Joe like me, but honestly, I think it’s worth it. This is a 1960s building, so expect mid-century architecture rather than a modern design.

My name is Sasha Lawrence, and I recently moved to Edmonton. Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was very disappointing, especially considering it was meant to be a celebration for both my girlfriend’s birthday and our anniversary. From the start, the service fell short. We asked for Parmesan with our bread and oil, but our server walked away to help other tables and never followed through. We also had to request pepper for our salad—something that should never be overlooked in a restaurant of this caliber. Even the staff admitted it was embarrassing that we had to ask. Throughout the night, we found ourselves speaking with the manager and other servers more than our actual server. My girlfriend ordered wine and never received a proper refund for it. It wasn’t until we pressed the issue that the manager finally intervened, napkins were replaced, and conversation began—something that should have happened from the very beginning. What should have been a special evening turned into a three-hour ordeal. We were seated around 7:00 p.m. and did not receive our meals until almost 10:00 p.m. The food was mediocre at best, and for the high prices, the overall experience was simply not worth it. While the manager did remove some items from the bill, we were still charged over $100 for an underwhelming meal and poor service. To add to the frustration, the way the free birthday dessert was handled felt strange, as though we were expected to order another dessert first. For a restaurant that markets itself as upscale, this kind of approach comes across as unprofessional. The view and atmosphere of the rotating restaurant are undeniably nice, but good service and memorable food are what truly make an experience worth recommending—and neither was delivered here. We will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to others.
Sasha L — Google review
Views were nice, food was delicious, and the service was great. My niece loved her meal so much that she was reluctant to share some parts of it with my sister. The dessert was enough for three of us to share. It was a nice touch that they added a chocolate piece that said “Happy Birthday” on it since we were celebrating some birthdays. If you book right at opening time, you’ll need to wait until just about the opening time for the elevator to work for the 24th floor. I appreciated that the parking garage was free for restaurant visitors. Given the high price of the experience, I’m not sure I’d be back anytime soon though.
Vanessa B — Google review
This was my first visit. I can't say with certainty I will return. Food was good. Views were amazing. The service however I was disappointed with. I was given the wrong drink and because the server took 10+ min between visits, I ended up just drinking it. My second drink I had the time to say that it was incorrect. It was changed and nothing was offered for the mistake. It was my fiance's birthday and I wanted to go to one of the best restaurants in the city. I can't honestly say that this was my experience

Ampersand 27 is a trendy spot located on Edmonton's vibrant Whyte Avenue, offering a modern space to enjoy craft cocktails and upmarket local seasonal fare. The restaurant is renowned for its amazing lunch and dinner options, as well as its fun brunch menu featuring classics done extremely well.
Very friendly and attentive service. Awesome brunch. I love the Ambience and decor. Brunch has decent variety and food is good quality. Can't complain for $19 and unlimited coffee and tea. It's off the main Whyte Ave strip, so much quieter than pip and the farmer's market. I'd come here again for dinner and drinks.

Went for the brunch buffet. Restaurant is beautiful, spacious, clean and not too loud. I have a few brunch places I love but it’s always hectic on a weekend so this was a nice change. Food was typical buffet quality but for the price it’s excellent. Service was fast and friendly.

We had the pleasure of hosting a wedding rehearsal dinner on Thursday June 19. Our party of 26 were seated in the main dining area and the ambience was enchanting. Everything was so organized. Nitin the host manager for this event made this dining experience amazing. Everything ran so smoothly from the bar service to the food and all the little details. Food was delicious. The charcuterie to greet the guests during cocktail hour was a nice added touch. Terra our cocktail server was efficient and brought drinks in a timely manner. Thanks for making this event so memorable and beautiful for us all. I would highly recommend Ampersand for a private function dining event.

She was very attentive, friendly, and always had a warm smile. She checked on us at the perfect times without being intrusive and made us feel truly welcomed. It’s rare to experience such genuine care and hospitality. Thank you, Angel, for making our meal memorable. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to my friends and family!

I ordered the steak Sandwhich medium rare, but the meat that came out was very low quality, well done, and very chewy. I asked if they could cook it more medium rare, and was brought out an even more well done steak (photo attached). My friend's Korean chicken flatbread was tasteless and dry. My other friend's $42 sea bass was full of bones. Our server, Angel, was very kind, and apologetic, but we will not be going back again.

Sofra Turkish Cuisine is a popular Turkish restaurant in Edmonton, Alberta that serves some of the best food in the city. The cozy and vintage-inspired space includes red wallpaper, wooden carvings, and interesting lightbulbs that give it a truly unique atmosphere. The restaurant offers an extensive menu of authentic Turkish dishes as well as wine from the wine cellar.
It's our first time to try Turkish food. We're glad we tried this restaurant. Food is really good. We waited a bit for our orders, but for the food quality like this (freshly cooked and flavorful), I'd be willing to wait. There were a number of tables to be served when we went, so the wait is understandable. They served the grilled eggplant first, the pita+humus after (forgot to take a photo), then our mains adana kebab and lamb casserole. I dont mind paying 30 for an entree if the food tastes like this. I tasted the distinct Turkish flavor. Ambiance is nice, service is great . We didnt find a problem looking for parking. Highly recommended.

A Culinary Tradition Worth Celebrating Sofra Turkish Cuisine in Downtown Edmonton has become a cherished tradition for my partner and me—we return every year to celebrate our anniversary, and each time, we’re reminded why this place holds such a special spot in our hearts. The ambience is warm and inviting, with authentic Turkish decor and perfectly dimmed lighting that sets the tone for a truly intimate dining experience. There’s a magic in the atmosphere—one that transports you straight to Istanbul without ever leaving Edmonton. This year, we indulged in the Sultan Sofrasi Platter, a magnificent spread of expertly grilled meats that showcased the kitchen’s mastery in every bite. The Helim Peyniri (grilled halloumi cheese) was rich, golden, and perfectly salty, and the Lahmacun—a thin, crisp flatbread topped with seasoned ground beef—was a standout dish we’ll keep coming back for. A special mention must go to our server, Derek, who was both professional and genuinely passionate about the food and experience. His thoughtful recommendations and warm demeanor added an extra layer of joy to our evening. If you’re looking for an authentic Turkish experience with exceptional service and unforgettable food, Sofra is a must. It’s more than a meal—it’s a tradition in the making.

This place was my favourite Turkish place to go to in the past. The food was always cooked to perfection, however this time it was not like The previous times. The owner is no longer there and the food is not cooked as it was in the past. I ordered the dip trio with fresh bread, it was good however hummus was on the saltier side this time. The shrimp and mushroom Appetizer was quite expensive for 4 shrimps and in my opinion not worth it. Now, for the main entree the lamb chops I had asked for medium well done. The server at first said he can’t do them well done there not meant to be that well done, anyways I said as long as there cooked. When we received it the lamb chops were uncooked and Pink. The server lied and said I had asked for this, rather then taking things in an professional Manner he removed them off the plates very angry. Anyways he did remake it and it was actually done the way I had asked. Anyways the service was not at all as it was in the past and food quality has definitely suffered as well. The bulghar was over cooked and a weirde texture. I in the past never minded paying for the prices they charge but not if I don’t get the quality and service defiantly not worth it. The previous owner maintained the consistency and sofras previous owners legendary Turkish food will be missed.

Amazing flavours and good!! You will feel the taste of the fire and heat used to cook and grill the food. The flavours are beyond what you would want at any grill. Everything was so juicy and flavourful and the Bulgur wheat pilaf is full of depth and comfort in each bite. What a feast. We ordered The Sultan’s sofrani for two of us and highly recommend it. You’ll have leftovers for at least another meal. The Pide was also incredible. Bread there is a MUST.

This is by far my favourite restaurant in Edmonton.... Heck... In Alberta! The flavours are too notch. The lamb.... I can't get enough of. The red pepper dip and kabobs, also 10/10. The Parlour Italian Kitchen & Bar in Edmonton is a trendy and inviting eatery known for its delectable Italian cuisine. The restaurant offers a variety of pasta dishes and gourmet wood-fired pizzas that burst with authentic flavors. The ambiance, with its brick walls and lively pizza oven, strikes the perfect balance between energetic and intimate, making it an ideal spot for casual meet-ups or cozy dinner dates.
I had a lovely experience at the Parlour, and the food was wonderful. We starred off with the calamari, and it was quite filling. The sauce that came with it was incredibly delicious. Our server was wonderful the whole even with us being a large group. For the main course, I had the fettuccine, which was great as well. I took pictures of all of our foods too. Overall, I will definitely come back for that calamari!

A beautiful building in the Oliver district, close to Grant MacEwan. It is filled with windows and light. They have a massive patio surrounded by brick. When you step inside, there is a small seating area where you can wait for the hostess. A large circular bar takes up a good portion of the main floor and it is stunning. The wait staff is so friendly and welcoming. It has a very modern vibe with ironwork stairs leading up to the 2nd floor. The food is incredible and I highly suggest the Charcuterie. The wine selection is good. I went with a glass of bubbly and enjoyed my time at The Parlour Italian Kitchen. I will definitely be back.

We recently had the pleasure of attending a food and drink pairing event at Parlour, and it was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere set the tone for a memorable evening — warm, lively, and perfect for sharing with great company. The experience showcased epic cocktails, beautifully paired wines, and a menu of Italian-inspired dishes crafted by Chef Matt, drawing inspiration from his Nonna. Each course was thoughtful and authentic, with flavors that melded seamlessly with the drink pairings. Our group of 20+ attendees felt completely taken care of, and the service matched the quality of the food and drinks — attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced. The combination of Chef Matt’s culinary storytelling, the expertly designed cocktails, and the cozy-yet-vibrant atmosphere made for a truly special evening. Whether you’re going with a group or for an intimate dinner, Parlour delivers an experience that leaves you full, happy, and already planning your next visit. Highly recommended!

It's got a great vibe with excellent service from the staff. I recommend the cauliflower fritto as an appetizer, it was great for sharing among four people and tasted delicious. For pizzas, I enjoyed the 'you say potato', it had a subtle potatoey flavour that reminded me of Norwegian lefse, if anyone knows that. We also got the pollo alla diavola pizza, which came with fried onions on top. The onions looked great, but were rather soggy and chewy which was a bit disappointing. Lastly, we had a couple of ant issues, not sure if we were just unlucky or the building has some sort of ant problem. First there was a drowning ant in one of our waters when it was delivered to us, which the server sorted out quickly. Then later I found an ant crawling on my arm - I was resting my hand on the seat just before that, so I assume that's when it crawled on (FYI, we were seated inside, far from the entrance). I'm only mentioning it since it happened twice in a single meal. Overall, we still had a great time! I'd recommend taking advantage of some of their deals ($10 pizzas on thursdays, $15 pizzas during happy hour on weekdays from 3-5)!

Love it, so good, food is soooo good, tried the carpaccio, cauliflower, meatballs, and the chicken parm, soooooo good, me personally though for the chicken parm, I wish the chicken breast sat onto of the pasta not under, I think when it sits under it takes the “crisp” away from the chicken, it was still good but just a personal preference. The staff was really nice, wasn’t too busy, but the inside was beautiful. I will be back to try more !!

Food, service, atmosphere, all of the above. Celebrated a friend's birthday at Parlour and was very impressed. Our server was not only friendly and polite, but he actually seemed to enjoy interacting with his customers, furthermore, he took at least 7 orders at once and was accurate consistently throughout the evening. The food was AMAZING and the prices were very reasonable. The manager Josh who helped us with the booking was extremely professional and kind, and I'm honestly blown away, I haven't seen service at this level for a long time. 10/10 would recommend and absolutely will be returning in the future. Also there is ample parking.

Runway 29 Restaurant Bar Pub, located in Edmonton, offers a bright and calm atmosphere with exceptional service. The staff members are known for their fantastic, positive, and kind attitude, making every visit a 5-star experience. The lounge has a casual style with no frills except for a cozy fireplace alcove on the side. The food is delicious, with options like nachos and bannock dessert served alongside drinks.
Quality throughout. Natural light pouring in through the huge windows. Big screen TV was perfect for watching the game on and they had an Oilers inspired feature menu which was a treat. Attentive staff recommended the best tenderloin steak bites I've ever had (sorry, not sorry, Mr. Mike's). Solid selection of local and non-alcoholic beers. I absolutely love the craft beer selection at Runway 29!! Finally got to try some food yesterday and had the potato skins. They were so delicious and flavourful. Don’t be scared off by the banana peppers, as they simply added flavour and didn’t give off any hot spice vibes. Chris and the ladies that serve are all so wonderful. First time eating here with 2 other friends. The food was amazing; tasty, hot, filling, tasty.... did I say tasty? I will definitely come here again. We enjoyed a chicken quesadilla, mushroom burger and clubhouse sandwich. Everyone was extremely happy with their choices. Highly recommend.

This place was awesome. The staff are all wonderful. Chef cooks a perfect breakfast and if you stay at the hotel is cheaper. The nachos we had for dinner were awesome, the club sandwich was awesome and fajitas were great. 11/10 for this resturaunt. Thank you!

Great spot for breakfast, the food is tasty and hot. Been coming here 4 mornings a week for the last 7 weeks, Layla was our waitress most of the time, she’s fun and friendly, if not for her we would likely have gone elsewhere

Central Social Hall, located in downtown Edmonton, is a vibrant gastropub with an industrial-chic interior. It's a great place to hang out with friends or even by yourself at the bar. The pub encourages conversation among patrons and offers various drink specials throughout the week. Additionally, it features high definition TVs for entertainment.
We had our 23 person wedding ceremony and reception at Central in November and they were absolutely fabulous! We looked at a number of restaurant venues to host the event and went back to central just three weeks before the date after another venue was being unaccommodating. We’re so glad how everything worked out, the staff there was amazing and everyone raved about the food and cocktails. I would absolutely recommend hosting an event here. Every email we sent was returned promptly and politely and they just said yes to every request we had. Vance had custom menus printed for our event which included custom his and her cocktails. They let us come into the space and set everything up the morning of, helped with the tear down and even stored all of our decor from the night before to the day after. They are awesome here!

Salmon was dry but if you toss the whole plate together like a salad its pretty good.. Soup served with a coffee spoon? And the drinks are about 80% ice. Kettle chips looked like bottom of the bag chips, but the dip was good. Took my tiramisu home to eat since it was frozen when served. Ice cream was delicious though! Next time ask the guest if they want the ice cream instead of not offering it since it's built into the price of the 3 course meal.

Service was great! The food on the other hand was disappointing. The chicken burger I ordered was sad. The chicken was so thin I could almost see through it and who wants shoestring fries other than a five year old. The gravy is not gravy, it’s like water with color. The ONLY bathroom in this place is absolutely appalling! Toilet paper, toilet paper wrappers and empty rolls scattered on the floor. The water sits in the sink after washing your hands.

We enjoyed our food. Both myself and my friend have dietary restrictions and there are still several dishes to choose from. The fish and chips batter does not have dairy in it, in case you need to know! And it's good. Lettuce burger "buns" are available and there are vegan and vegetarian dishes. My friend enjoyed the poke bowl, though a bit spicy for their taste. So if you're used to no spice it's a bit much but otherwise very tasty. Service was friendly and prompt. Bathrooms are impressive.

Food was fantastic, service was quick and on top of all of our drinks. It was an absolute great environment for a night out with friends. Will definitely be going back. They also have a great private room for events.

Central Social Hall is a for sure go-to bar in Edmonton, and a big part of that is because of the incredible team that always makes you feel welcomed. Andrew, Gus, Alex, Courtney, Maryanne, and Maddy all bring such great energy—it’s clear they love what they do, and it makes a difference. Every time I’m here, I get personal, friendly service that lifts my mood and makes the night better. The positive vibe and welcoming atmosphere keep me coming back 🎶 🍺

Best thing on the menu, the wings, hands down. But sad to say, I ordered a total of 6 dishes, 4 appetizers and 2 desserts. If I were to give my honest opinion of this place I’d simply say that the appetizers are not worth the price considering the quality of the food. The wings were $19…which is costly, but as I mentioned, it was the best tasting one. The tempura sushi, which is a featured menu item should be removed, $18 for sushi that has barely any protein on it should be criminal. You may as well walk across the street and visit the Japanese restaurant for sushi that’s better in value and taste. Gyoza’s were good, however I felt as if the wasabi sauce was overpowering and was way too much. Guacamole was interesting, definitely a different style of dish. Now onto the service I received while at this restaurant. Our waitress felt like she was always rushing, I found myself waiting 30 minutes to get the attention from a server to order another drink, and I had my glass empty and it should’ve been a clear signal to the staff that I wanted another one, especially since I had the drink menu in my hand and kept raising my hand to make a motion to the waitress. I understand that I came on a game night, and it was busy with other customers, but if this restaurant knows that they get fairly busy on game nights then they should prepare for the anticipated rush and have more staff. I ultimately felt that as a customer we weren’t prioritized and the service aspect heavily lacked here. Short story, if you’re coming here for a dining night out, maybe pick another spot, or don’t come here on a game night. But if you’re coming for a night of cocktails, this is a decent pick.

Riverside Bistro is a cozy Canadian bar and grill nestled within the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in downtown Edmonton. The bistro offers a laid-back atmosphere and serves up delectable breakfast, sandwiches, and burgers. What sets Riverside Bistro apart is its stunning panoramic views of the North Saskatchewan River Valley, making it an ideal spot for al fresco dining in their unique outdoor igloos regardless of the weather.
Riverside Bistro is a relaxed hideaway in the Courtyard by Marriott that delivers much more than hotel fare… the dining room is warm and inviting with wood accents and big windows that look out over the river valley. In summer the patio is a perfect spot to sip cocktails and watch the sun set. The menu covers everything from hearty breakfasts to burgers and steaks. I love starting the day with their eggs Benedict and fluffy pancakes and later returning for a juicy Alberta beef burger or a perfectly grilled steak with seasonal vegetables. Soups and salads are fresh and the daily specials often feature seafood and pasta. Drinks are equally impressive… there is a full bar with local craft beers, signature cocktails and a curated wine list. The coffee is strong and smooth which pairs well with their house made desserts. Service is attentive and friendly yet never intrusive; servers make sure everyone from hotel guests to locals feels welcome. This place is accessible with a level entrance, wide aisles and an accessible washroom. There is plenty of seating for groups, families and solo diners and they happily provide high chairs for kids. Vegetarian guests will find salads, veggie burgers and customizable plates and the kitchen can accommodate gluten or dairy sensitivities. Parking is available in the hotel garage or nearby paid lots and there are spots along the street too. Overall Riverside Bistro is a great choice for breakfast meetings, casual lunches or cozy dinners with a view… it embodies the laid back hospitality that Edmonton is known for.

Had a lovely time dining in the winter domes. The string lights and music added to the ambiance and the dome was well heated and comfortable. Food was good as well but definitely pricey. Had the lobster and shrimp linguine and it was quite rich and heavy, chocolate chip pan cookie was average. Friendly waitstaff and scenery made the night, definitely a nice experience for special occasions.

Other than a little unwanted guest in video it is a nice view. Food was alright. No salt and pepper for fries. Unless you ask for it. Plain unseasoned fries with $27 burger. Great bacon on the burger. Bun fell apart tho on top. Butternut squash and beet Salad was good. Dressing on the side. Fig and goat cheese flatbread Appetiser was great taste for girls. Men may find it not so great. So other than the bug i seen and video i guess it’s alright. It’s expensive here. $12 domestic pint. $18 cocktail with elderflower and rose 2oz.

Right by the river with a quiet, relaxing vibe perfect for a casual meal or drinks on the patio. You can hear the river, watch people walk by on the trails, and just unwind. Food-wise, it’s good but not life-changing. Drinks were solid, nothing crazy, but refreshing. Service was friendly but a little slow, probably because the patio was packed. Staff still made sure we were checked on, so no complaints. Prices are on the higher side, but nothing outrageous. Will go back only for that view.

Had supper at the Riverside Bistro last night in one of their outside domes. The dome itself was awesome and a great dining experience. It was well lit and decorated, had heaters and blankets, and the music was the right volume that we could hear each other and not the neighbors. What was disappointing was the $50 "igloo fee" that we were not told about when making the reservation. Nothing on the website or in the fine print, so beware - there is a charge to eat in one. I'm not saying there shouldn't be, but it should be advertised. (Maybe I missed it??) The food was ok. We had some appies to start which were ok except the curry poutine was really, really good. I had the seared scallops and pork belly. I expected more scallops - it was like one cut in half for two total, but the pork belly was very well done. The other mains were good. The service was really good. Our waitress was prompt, friendly, knew the menu, and checked in on us just enough that it was not bothersome. I would recommend the experience and the location and view was beautiful and we did have a good time.

Today I visited Riverside Bistro at 1 Thornton Ct NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 2E7, Canada. Poor service. Limited lunch menu. But orders were taken relatively quickly. The presence of bugs in the establishment upset and alarmed some customers. The restaurant's location at the hotel entrance is less than stellar. The view is nice, although the windows could use a cleaning. As for the food... it's like a regular restaurant, but more expensive for who knows why. Bottom line: there's room for improvement, but for now, things are dismal.

Food and atmosphere was really great! It's a beautiful hotel with a stunning patio. However, our server Angelo wasn't very friendly, and didn't even take our drink order. We had to ask to order drinks and slammed our waters down on the table while handing us our menus. I would understand rushed behavior if the restaurant was busy, but there was only one couple at the bar, and a party of four sitting behind us. I would come back for the food, but the service really didn't make this meal enjoyable.

The Butternut Tree is a rustic-modern restaurant in Edmonton that showcases seasonal Canadian ingredients and local wines. Chef Scott Downey's focus on making vegetables the star of his dishes, alongside meat and seafood options, has made this spot popular for special occasions. The dining room features floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a beautiful setting for enjoying quality food and drinks.
Had a wonderful experience with my daughter on Saturday evening. The food was amazing. We each had the beef tenderloin and it was done to perfection. Isabelle, our server, was awesome - very friendly and knowledgeable. The view from our table by the window made for a pleasant fine dining experience. Definitely will be back!

We were married at The Butternut Tree in May 2025 and couldn’t have chosen a better venue. Samantha and the entire team were incredible. They were highly organized, kind, and completely committed to making our day run smoothly. From planning to cleanup, everything was handled so seamlessly that we were able to just relax and enjoy every moment. The food was absolutely spectacular. We chose a tasting menu, and our guests are still raving about it months later. The cocktails were a huge hit too, the Alpine Meadow and mojitos were especially popular. Our late-night snack of poutine and churros was perfect (the churros were unforgettable!). The venue itself is beautiful, with natural light and stunning views of the Legislature. Having both the ceremony and reception in one space made the day so easy for us and our guests. What really set The Butternut Tree apart was the care and attention to detail. The team flawlessly executed the decor, were thoughtful with our guests, photography team, and officiant, and we even used the in-house pickles and preserves as game prizes! We are very grateful to Samantha, the Chef, and the whole team for helping make our wedding day magical. If you’re looking for an intimate venue that combines incredible food, beautiful views, and exceptional service, this is the best place in Edmonton to do it.

We had an exceptional experience at The Butternut Tree. Despite being very late due to unexpected roadblocks, the staff were incredibly gracious and accommodating, they seated us promptly and ensured we were still able to enjoy the full tasting experience without feeling rushed. Service throughout the evening was outstanding. The team was attentive, friendly, and checked in often, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. The ambience was elegant and inviting, upscale without ever feeling pretentious. We chose the tasting menu, which was beautifully balanced and well worth the price. Our standout dishes were the trout, scallops, broccolini, and beef, each thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavour. We also ordered the beef tartare as an add-on, which was absolutely divine and a must-try for anyone visiting. A special touch that really stood out was the complimentary prosecco offered when we arrived, a kind gesture that made us feel truly cared for. The featured white wine pairing (Ritchie-something) complemented the tasting menu wonderfully. Overall, The Butternut Tree delivers an exceptional dining experience, refined, thoughtful, and distinctly Edmonton. Highly recommend, especially for anyone who values excellent service, warm hospitality, and memorable food.

We had the Chef’s Seasonal Tasting Menu and everything was incredible - we couldn’t choose a favourite dish out of the 6 we had! Loved every bite. Our server was lovely and super helpful as well. Thank you so much for making it a special night! 💕

The Butternut Tree was a dream wedding venue to work with. The setting is beautiful, and needs minimal decorations. The food and drinks were the most important part to us and they were executed amazingly. The service during the event was top notch. The planning process was very smooth, organized and fun! I really appreciated how quickly Samantha would get back to us about questions throughout the planning process. The set up and take down services were ideal for us, every little detail was taken care of and our friends and family were able to also enjoy and relax the entire day as well. We do not have anything we would change about our experience having our wedding at The Butternut Tree and we would recommend it to any couple who is seeking a elevated intimate wedding venue.

First, the negative: Parking is a nightmare. Give yourself time to park along the street or take an uber. I wish it was more convenient to drive there. Second, the positives: The food is delicious, the servers are friendly & fabulous, and the atmosphere is amazing. The views you get from the windowed walls are spectacular. They also have a private dining room that can comfortably fit 12 people and is a great options for business meals or intimate celebration events. I did enjoy the food, although I do think it is overpriced for what you get. I didn't love every single item we ordered, but enjoyed most of it. I do wish there were a few more options for meals to order, but I believe the chef adds/rotates the menu each season. They have a fabulous drink selection and the servers are very knowledgeable in that area. It is wheelchair accessible, but would be a bit of a journey to actually get inside (re: parking nightmare and then navigating a steep ramp and elevator, etc.)

My husband and I chose The Butternut Tree for our wedding venue in September 2023 after going for a dinner there. Our wedding was July 2025 and the whole process was absolutely perfect. Their coordinater Samantha was very communicative without being overwhelming. Day of they absolutely met all our of expectations with set up, switching between ceremony and reception, and over all just amazing service ! The biers for the background of our ceremony were lovely, the space was great for the ceremony of 50 seated guests. The food was absolutely perfect for our reception, the staff were friendly, the bartenders kept the line going quickly. From getting to curate your own menu to the little touches they add I can not recommend them enough. They accommodated all dietary restrictions our group had & communicated thoroughly to guests about their needs. We have also been for dinner a couple times and we have always been so pleased with our time there !

Nestled just a short stroll from Ford Hall in Rogers Place, The Canadian Icehouse is the ultimate destination for hockey enthusiasts looking to catch an Oilers game. Its prime location within the vibrant Ice District offers a plethora of winter activities, including indoor hockey shootouts and an outdoor skating rink. Known for boasting the largest rooftop patio in Western Canada, this venue provides stunning views of downtown and the bustling Ice District Plaza. Guests can enjoy yard games and batting cages while soaking up the lively atmosphere.
What an experience! I do travel a lot, and the thing that elevates an experience more than anything is the service. One word, Darby. Hope I spelled it right. From pillar to post, exemplary service. Beer and food can, and are served everywhere. What stood out was how we were treated, on a super busy night, with skill and warmth. Being from out of town we tried some local beers that were perfect. Watching the Oilers win in the playoffs will be an all-time greatest memory of my trip to Edmonton. If you are in the area, check out The Canadian Ice House, you will not be disappointed.

Came in NYE, it was packed. Didn’t have a reservation so I sat at the bar. Fil the bartender had an efficient order of operations. The sisters Mackenzie and Kirsten go above and beyond! Can’t wait to return.

We visited The Canadian Icehouse for the second time yesterday, and once again, the food did not disappoint. The steak bites were incredibly tender, and the Icehouse Burger was just as tasty. Unfortunately, the rooftop wasn’t open this time because of the smoke, but the bar still had a great vibe. Our server, Tatum, was amazing—she genuinely went above and beyond and you can tell she really enjoys what she does. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

Fantastic service by all the staff as our group interacted with several members. The food was quite good. It was a wing night, so it was busy and they were busy in the kitchen but it wasn't too bad and very timely considering the circumstances. Stayed on the rooftop as it was a warm day. Another games room, this one in downtown Edmonton’s Ice District. It’s a large space with potential, but on a quiet Monday night, it felt too big and mostly empty. While I didn’t expect a crowd, the atmosphere makes it seem more suited for special events rather than casual drop-ins. There’s bowling and a handful of games, plus multiple rooms that could work well for group gatherings. Convenient downtown location, but unless you’re attending a planned event, it might not be worth a visit. If you’re considering it for a group, calling ahead is a good idea.

So the servers are decent two workhorses I noticed. The drinks are good craft beer is good. Lots of TVS projecting the game. The booths are super comfy. Two floors, The security is a little standoffish at the best of times. The team runs well nice decor and nice lighting. I like coming here staff are kind, if you don't have a reservation you are treated differently, tip well and you will be remembered and treated better. The assignment manager is young but does a good job. Each staff is committed to quality control. #professional- how do we make it five stars?

What more can you ask for! Heart of downtown and the best place to be during the hockey season. I've been there many times now and its nothing but fun. With the right people and the right server and couple drinks always hits. Every time I go, I'll usually request to be sat in Michelle's section. Shes a sweet, fun and outgoing server. IF you think you can cheer louder for the oilers? I bet she will top you! Overall just a great place to see all the action take place. In 2024, twice I have been here in the last month . . . and both times I was NOT disappointed. Great Prov Tacos, great Truffle fries, and excellent Seafood Pappardelle! Thanks Erika for excellent service! Well, April 2025 I visited them again. This time I was not that impressed. Nothing of substance for a game-day special - just the usually Sunday specials. Nachos were great but for the amount of nacos, the plate definitely lacked enough salsa and sour cream. The chicken wings we done nice and with good flavor (honey garlic) but the price was a bit steep. As for the citrus IPA, I sure did enjoy the 88 IPA (brewed in Calgary). For 2 beers and 2 plates (nachos and wings) the price was over 60$. Too much for me to return. Service was ok...ish. It's a sports bar so kinda nice to see the hockey game on.

Went here for my birthday on a Saturday night and it was really bad. We walked in at around 6:30pm and there was a group of older folks taking up the middle tables so we went to the corner. When we sat down the waitress came and she was very nice but she was seemingly the only one working. She got us out drinks and that was fine. There was a man who was in the corner playing on the VLTs and to my and my friends surprise we saw him get up multiple times, go behind the bar to the cash register, and then go back to play VLTs - he wasn't dressed as a waiter so our guess was a manager, not a good look at all. When more of my friends arrived the waitress came back and my friend asked for MGD, Budweiser, and 3 other beers that were on the menu and each time the waitress said 'oh sorry, we are out of that'. They seemed to only have Coors Light and their own house beer. Overall, it was the worse experience all of us have ever had at a bar/pub. The waitress was nice and apologetic and I don't blame her at all but when you have none of the beer on tap that you have on your menu it's a bad look for the place especially with someone playing VLTs and going to the cash register and back. After we finished our 1 beer we all left for another bar. I would never go back and I would strongly encourage no one else to go here.

Stopped by with a friend at around 6 pm on a Saturday, and we were almost the only ones there, which was a bit surprising because it seems like a really nice place. Comfortable booth seating, good beer, and prompt service, it kind of reminded me of a nice neighbourhood pub. Maybe it gets much busier on game days, but as it was, it's a nice place to sit and chat.

Guests rave about the diverse dinner menu, while breakfast options are plentiful, though some may find them on the pricier side if not staying at the venue. Fortunately, nearby alternatives like Starbucks and Subway offer more budget-friendly breakfast choices just a short stroll away.
Dina went to extra lengths to accommodate our allergies. Great service!

I split the rating because the included breakfast with your Matrix hotel stay is phenomenal. There is hot food, pastries, fruit and coffee all included. But unfortunately their lunch and dinner menu leaves a lot to be desired. The service was mid at best, you really had to look for them if you needed something. I just had the crab dip and a glass Of wine and was there for over an hour. They use imitation crab in their dip for $19 which was a disappointment. I expect canned crab at least for that price. The decor is nice and I will definitely Come for the breakfast but I would Skip this any other time of days

I am currently a guest at the Matrix and I have chosen to eat at the Loft 106 located in the hotel two nights now. The first night, the food was okay, however the creme brulee was the consistency/taste of scrambled eggs. I usually do not send food back however I did not enjoy it. When I got my bill, I was charged the full $10 regardless of the fact I had one bite. When I mentioned this, the waitress provided me the gracious discount of 1.95$ off of the dessert. The second night, my coworker wanted to eat there so I agreed to give it another try. We waited 45 minutes to put in an order for food. My coworker ordered a beer that she had to go up and grab herself as the waitress/waiters did not check in or serve it. I ordered a burger with no mushrooms, it arrived with mushrooms. I watched as several other patrons became frustrated with waiting for drinks, food, as well as retrieving items such as salt and pepper themselves. We had to stand in line to pay at the front as other tables also went to the front due to the servers not coming to ask us if we were ready for the bill. I do not typically write reviews however I do want to caution guests staying in this hotel about Loft 106. I will say the breakfast is fantastic but I do not recommend coming for dinner.

Room not clean (food residue on side table), window doesn't open and in room phone doesn't work. Being moved to another room and hope that one will be without deficiencies. Just arrived snd didn't get to use any services yet.

First week when vaccine passports were rolled out I was amazed to have a breakfast buffet. Great memories and great food. Fast forward three months. No buffet and 4 menu options with 5$ add-ons. Want 2 sausage links, 5$. Want to be seated?, you’ll be pointed to a direction. Want a coffee refill? Nope. Want to be checked up on during your dinning experience. Naaa There are only 8 other patreons in the dinning room and more effort is taken to cleaning the tables than service. Dear owners; If you remove the buffet, you must replace it with service worthy of the meal. If you are removing food choices, then provide a menu worthy of a selection. An ice cream scoop of eggs, 4 chunks of potato, barely toasted bread is not that. So I’ll pass on my next complimentary breakfast and pay for a breakfast dinning experience elsewhere that elevates my memories and is worthy of my stay. Sorry to the Matrix because this is a direct reflection of you.

I enjoy their dinner menu very much. The breakfast buffet is good but pricey if you aren't staying there. There is still a Starbucks and Subway literally a short walk away which probably represent better value for breakfast. Then there is s another restaurant across on 107th which I haven't been to but have heard good things about! Maybe worth a try if the prices at Matrrix are an issue! Quiet atmosphere and courtesy from staff makes for a super dinner! Wish that they could have a vegetarian option for soup! Otherwise their guacamole could be improved.

Matrix stay, Food is mediocre. No dairy free or gluten free options for breakfast. No pancakes for the kids unfortunately. There was bacon, pork sausage, eggs (not so good), toast and potatoes at the morning buffet.
