Gallagher Park, located in Edmonton's iconic river valley, is a picturesque recreational area that hosts the annual Edmonton Folk Music Festival. This four-day event in August transforms the park into a charming community of tents and booths, offering six stages for concerts, workshops, a beer garden, and a craft fair. Visitors from around the globe gather on the park's grassy hillside to enjoy performances by renowned artists while taking in stunning views of the city skyline.
Really nice park. I went there for folk fest. The hill is a bit steep to sit on in some places, and there were lots of wasps (I even got stung)
Avery A — Google review
Another great year at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. Great music, food, people. A big shout out to the volunteers, who make this festival thrive. Ben Harper who closed Sunday night was AMAZING!!!! 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶 as were the other performers.

Site of the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. The hill is perfect for enjoying the music with a beautiful backdrop of downtown Edmonton and a prairie sunset.

Great park in the river valley of Edmonton. Gallagher Park is well known in Edmonton because it is where the world famous Edmonton Folk Music Festival is held. But that’s just a few days a year. The rest of the year there is a great park to explore and experience. This park is very nice. There is a playground and a spray park also. There is an outdoor hockey 🏒 rink for winter fun. During the summer it is used as a dog 🐕 run. There is also the Cloverdale Community League Hall. Overall this is a great park. There are picnic benches and benches for seating. There is a porta potty for the washroom break that might be needed.
Kirk D — Google review
Best sledding hill in Edmonton! I have so many great memories here. Super fun family environment with gorgeous views of the city, a playground and skating rink at the base of the hill. We sure appreciated the port a potty that the community league provided too. What a gorgeous day. 😍

Keillor Point, affectionately known as the End of the World, is a hidden gem perched on an old retaining wall overlooking the North Saskatchewan River Valley. This scenic lookout was previously off-limits due to safety concerns but has since been revitalized and is now open for public enjoyment. Nestled near 74 Avenue and Saskatchewan Drive, it offers breathtaking views of the river's winding path through Edmonton.
This sounded very interesting by its name, so I had to check it out when I visited Edmonton. The drive to this point is scenic, especially during Fall season. And once here; the view is breathtaking as well. There are two ways to get here, stairs, trail walk. We reached here using stairs and we came out of it walking the trail. It’s more 180-degree of pure natural beauty of the Saskatchewan River. Must visit when visiting Edmonton!
Prachi S — Google review
It's a very nice riverside area, great for walking and cycling 🚲. The place is quite large. If you're going alone, do so at your own risk. There are stairs for climbing up and down, with over 200 steps. Overall, it's a very good place.
Mahammad T — Google review
We walked about 30 to 45 minutes from the starting point to this lookout. There are also some beautiful mural paintings nearby. I could not believe we had walked to a higher point since the previous trail felt pretty flat or just slightly sloped. The scenery here is wonderful, and with the sunshine and breeze, it feels perfect.
Kim G — Google review
Beautiful spot along the river off the main trail. Great place to take a break.

Great view, check my video showing distant view of hawerlak park and Peter Pocklingtons former residence. Water is clear.

This used to be a great place to hang out, but they have since made it a lot safer of a place to go. The trails in the area are great, makes for a fun adventure in the river valley.

A wonderful place with a beautiful view of the river and the opposite bank. There are several benches to rest and enjoy the silence and beauty of nature.

Wolf Willow Stairs is a popular spot in the Wolf Willow neighborhood, offering a picturesque view of the forested ravine and the North Saskatchewan River. The staircase leads to the Fort Edmonton Foot Bridge and provides access to sandy riverside areas. It's a great place for a workout, with 200 steps that offer stunning views of the river valley. Accessible by public transit or car, this 1km trail is perfect for nature lovers and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Very stunning place, came here because I wanted to see the fall photos. Be prepared for a big flight of stairs but otherwise it's absolutely gorgeous! I highly recommend it coming during the fall (for reference, I took these photos on October 10th)!
Ronald C — Google review
A nice area for hiking in Edmonton city. It takes about half hour walking from the trail head to the Fort Edmonton Footbridge. Then it may take another half hour to walk cross the bridge to Ford Edmonton park. Enjoy going through the stairs and take a rest on the bridge to have a good view of the river.
Allan N — Google review
Some aspects of the Edmonton experience can disappoint at times, but its River Valley could never. There are many places ready for your restorative forest bathing experience or cardiovascular recreation, but the view from here could be the singularly most spectacular. Use this as a stop-gap on your way to a mountain holiday or to regain your sense of wonder and composure in an overly-complicated and busy human existence.
First T — Google review
Such a beautiful area to take a morning sunrise or sunset stroll or even get in a quick workout in. I usually come here for a walk or run. It’s a good 7-8km from the community centre to Fort Edmonton via the bridge and back. Highly recommended spot to take your friends or people visiting Edmonton. Just bring bug spray in the summers as there are lots of bugs and mosquitoes around.
Jenny N — Google review
Great view and the 200 steps to the top is a good addition to your morning run! Also it's fun to ride down on a bike (when it's not busy of course). 😜 Oh and if you bring your bike when it's raining you can get some pretty awesome pics. 😎
Owen R — Google review
2000 stairs, no wait 200 stairs although it feels like 2000. If you’re looking for a workout this is it. Burn those quads. When you’re at the top of the stairs the view is spectacular. This is a short walk from the Fort Edmonton Foot Bridge. I definitely recommend this place to see great views of the river valley and the North Saskatchewan River. No washroom facilities available here. Easy access to the river for fishing.
Kirk D — Google review
I love these stairs! The view is amazing. No matter what time, but the morning is my absolute favourite. I always see a owl there as well but always too dark too get a shot! As you can see I’m obsessed. I have almost 100 photos from here. It’s perfect People do need too try harder too take their garbage too the garbage bins. 💚
Tibby S — Google review
Although the climb will kill you, the view it SO worth it! This is hands down my favourite trail in Edmonton for that reason entirely. I highly recommend viewing it during all seasons to fully take in nature’s beauty. Aside from the gorgeous view, the stair case is huge therefore if you want a great workout, wolf willow is your best friend. There are certain “sections” of the staircase that are steeper than others so you can take it easier or do the full death work out. Also, if you are out of shape like me (Lol) you can always take a break as there are landings throughout the walk up. Another thing to add with the beauty aspect is that the rocks leading into the creek right by the bridge at the bottom of the staircase, completely reminds me of being in the mountains. I feel like I am not in Edmonton at all!

Nestled in the heart of Edmonton, the Muttart Conservatory is a captivating botanical attraction featuring four glass pyramids that house diverse plant collections. With over 700 plant species across different biomes, this horticultural gem offers an educational and visually stunning experience. Each pyramid represents a distinct environment, from lush tropical landscapes to arid deserts, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to explore various ecosystems without leaving the city.
What a beautiful place!! It was amazing! I enjoyed all four pyramids. So, clean, peaceful and well put together. I was very relaxed and it was very Zen like to be there. I sat in the Arid room on the comfortable chair at the entrance and felt like I was transported away. They have done a wonderful job. The flowers and grounds outside are beautiful and full of flowers everywhere!

Such a beautiful place!!! There are 4 pyramids with different plants in them! The pyramids themselves aren't huge, however there are a ton of plants in each!! I was a little sad there wasn't any butterflies however it was still worth the trip!! The parking is free, however you do have to register your plate when you go in. There are benches in the pyramids to sit and relax. There is also a cute coffee shop with tons of seating. They also have seating outside which is really nice also!! Would definitely go again :)
Santana D — Google review
Some days we forget that beautiful things don’t need words. Take a moment to enjoy nature. The air is different in there somehow, take a sit and breathe and if possible ‘exhale’. Plan to figure out a way to can the fresh air. Wanted to buy a plant by I remember that plants also need love, hopefully when I come another the next time I am brave enough and love sufficient to buy one. Also, met some classy ladies and gentleman today. They all seemed so full of life and still at the same time, I took notes.
Mide S — Google review
A great place to relax and get inspired! The Botanical Garden impresses with its variety of plants and flowers, well-groomed territory and peaceful atmosphere. Ideal for a walk in nature, taking photos or just a pleasant day with the family. There is also a wonderful cafe, where you can buy flowers and souvenirs. There is free parking for visitors, which can be reserved for a maximum of 6 hours.
Anatoliy — Google review
We had so much fun at the Muttart Conservatory! It was the perfect family outing—beautiful, educational, and full of wonder. My daughter loved exploring all the domes, especially the tropical one. She was thrilled with the coloring activity and absolutely adored meeting the mermaid—such a special touch! Meanwhile, my little one was mesmerized by the colorful fish swimming around and couldn’t stop pointing at all the vibrant plants and flowers. The on-site café was fantastic too—great food, friendly staff, and delicious flavors. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend for families looking for a fun, enchanting experience. Five stars! 🌿✨

A must visit conservatory museum, and I was thoroughly impressed! The ample parking space made it easy to park, and the building's exterior already hinted at the beauty within. Upon entering, I was struck by the neat and well-maintained interiors. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The pyramid biomes were fascinating, showcasing a stunning array of plants from around the world. The café was a highlight, offering delicious refreshments and a cozy atmosphere. But what truly stole the show was the beautifully planted floor garden at the entrance to the museum.A small souvenir shop is also present that has good collectables. I highly recommend this plant conservatory museum to anyone who loves nature, botany, or just needs a peaceful retreat.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Fleur de Villes display. Absolutely stunning displays. It was a curated event displaying 15 florists from Edmonton. Such wonderful talented individuals we have. We enjoyed wandering through all the pyramids and want to go it more often. In December there is usually a Christmas poinsettia display in the show pavilion.

Absolutely love the Muttart! Went for brunch today (so yum!) and checked out the new feature pyramid: Under the Sea! Best exhibit I have ever seen at the muttart! Breathtakingly stunning displays of flowers and plants! 10/10 check it out! Perfect photo set up for families too!

Grant Notley Park is a picturesque destination offering breathtaking views and beautiful photo opportunities. It provides ample seating areas and an opportunity to admire the scenic river valley. The park features a vibrant blue and light pink gazebo, multiple benches, and a spacious grassy area ideal for picnics. From this spot, visitors can marvel at the High Level Bridge, downtown's southern portion, and a lush forested valley.
Small but nice park. There is a nice gazebo and lots of benches for seating. There are no washroom facilities and no playground. This is a park that has fantastic views of the Edmonton River Valley. There are some picnic tables. Keep in mind this is a very small space but it is nice.

Absolutely beautiful spot. One of the best spots in the city, worth making the trip. You'll often hear some tragedy among the shadows though, cation & don't forget the buddy system. Recognizing this is Treaty 6 Territory, Amiskwacy(Edmonton) is on Papaschase Indigenous territory.

A very beautiful spot to watch the sunset. The landscape view is so therapeutic and beautiful too. I recommend for a simple relaxation with friend or partner.

How can you go wrong? It's a great view on the north side of the river valley. Looking out over the buildings on the other side of the river or the vast amount of trees down below. It's a good place to have a quiet chat or plan big life decisions. It provides a nice mix of urban and natural stimuli while being a little less busy than some of the other parks. It's a site of calm and peace in a busy city

I love this place cause I can do some workout and see the beautiful view. The enchanter sunset and some beautiful pictures!
Atlántida P — Google review
Another great little park located somewhat along the River Valley. A great place to stop and enjoy the view of the river, as well as the south Edmonton skyline. Walter Grant Notley was born January 19, 1939 in Didsbury, Alberta, a small farming community. At an early age, he was already engrossed in political biographies. Being an excellent student at the Olds and Didsbury high schools propelled him towards the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Graduating in 1961, Grant had already dedicated his life to the advancement of principles he believed in. In 1962, Grant Notley was named the first provincial secretary of the Alberta New Democratic Party, retaining this post until his election as provincial leader in 1968. Grant was noted for his factual accuracy and insightful debate, and believed that no sacrifice was too great in the cause, nor was any task too difficult to undertake. He was a listener, an advocate, a spokesman, and a gentle soul - He had the highest regard for the legislative process, and he worked hard to make it benefit all Albertan’s, especially those not having the skills or means to deal with their concerns. Returning to his rural roots, Grant Notley earned the right to represent the people of Spirit River-Fairview as member of the legislative assembly from 1971 until his unexpected death on October 19, 1984. From 1982 Grant also served with distinction as leader of her Majesty’s loyal opposition. Albertan’s of all political persuasions held the most profound respect for his broader vision of a just and vigorous democracy.

We visited Terwillegar Park on a sunny day during the summer. There were many kinds of small flowers in different colors along the trail. The atmosphere was so nice and peaceful. Although there was a lot of grass, there were not many mosquitoes biting, which was quite amazing to me.

This is Edmonton's best all around park for the whole family. Great access to the River, an abundance of walking trails, bike trails and paths for human and canine alike. There is also a variety of edible berries June to September. A great place for saskatoons, chokecherries, buffalo berries, soap berries, and seabuck thorn berries and so many wildflowers!

It's a big dog Leashe free park. The wide trail is about an hour walk. It's almost all gravel there's some muddy spot on spring melts or after rain. There's a lot of smaller side trails. It's a busy park. There is a lot of parking over 100 cars spaces. Sometimes there's is some bike race setup or in summer custom boat race.in those events it's really busy. You can launch canoe or kayak to go down the river in the summer. There is a mini truck selling dog treats and hot chocolate. Sometimes there's a trailer to washes dog paws. In the summer watch for beaver they can attack dog if you let them get in there environment. There's is 4 p can to serve public. There is along the trail some bench for site viewing.

This is one of the best park in Edmonton, I love visiting here, it's close to the place where I live. It's amazing place to come with your dogs if you have any, else you can still enjoy this place sitting by the river, fly a kite or get your bike and go on the trail, or simply just walk the trail. In the recent visit I saw a lot of bird in the river, mostly the gulls and terns, it was just beautiful to watch them. The footbridge is also closeby so you can also visit there if you have enough time. You can enjoy the time here on any day.

The park features multi-use trails, green spaces, and several ponds where visitors can enjoy canoeing or paddle boating. Families can make use of the playground, mini-golf course, and sports fields while also taking part in activities like hiking and picnicking. Additionally, there are opportunities for learning new skills such as canoeing lessons.
I have been going to Rundle park for at least 8 years and I love it. I have ran hundreds of kilometers over the years in the park and there is so many combinations of trails you could do you will never run out. There is also awesome picnic shelters you can reserve for the summer. We went to a friends birthday party just the other day that was held at one and it made for an awesome party outdoors in nature. There is also great skating in the winter and also great tobogganing and cross country skiing. It’s an amazing park all year around and it’s not too busy at all. Highly recommend!

This is my favourite park in edmonton. Nice picnic spots with sitting arrangement and canopy. The playground is also vibrant for the kids having several items to play. There is a small track for walking. Washrooms in service centers are clean. I like the fountains most along with the paddle boating. Lots of ducks will roam around all the day long.

The park is big and beautiful. Good space for picnic and bbq . A big area for kids to play and have fun. Also the trees are huge that in our last visit the rain starts but under the tree we were safe

Nice park in heart of Edmonton with all that you need for a nice evening or a small party. Ample parking even for a busy weekend. Few small playgrounds but its not as big compared to others, however enough for young kids with slides, swings etc. There was a little music garden with a bunch of musical equipmemts. There were 4 water fountains one was a tall one very pleasing. Paddle boating was an option rental shop behind the family center. Public Rest room at the family center. There were both shaded and unshaded spots, few bigger shaded picnic spot great for hosting a little party can be reserved ahead of time. Nice connecting trails for running/walking. Over all highly recommemded. Check out videos & images & follow for more.

Begin your adventure at a downtown coffee shop before making your way to the 100 Street Funicular, an Instagram-worthy attraction that provides easy access to the river valley trail system via two elevators. After crossing the historic steel low-level bridge, you can explore tree-covered trails on the south side path and discover charming neighborhoods off of Scona Road.
Hello everyone, Do you remember these guys from Wonderland Pier? Well, Andrew Boylan own both shows. I'm not selling them but I am looking for a family business for them to keep them going. also have a few signs from Wonderland to go along with them. If anyone is interested, please message me.

Can use the glass "elevator" for free. You get nice views of the area including nature, architectures, bridges, etc. There are look out spots that take you further so you can see different angles of the area. Takes about 40-45 seconds to ride the elevator in each direction.
Mel Z — Google review
The funicular was fun. It was smaller and more modern than the one I saw in Pittsburgh recently. There was a coyote waiting for me when I went back up.

Today is my 51birthday and I feel it a bit lol having the lift up to the top after a nice bike ride is a God's gift thank you big guy. I love to ride but not so good at uphill it's definitely a young man's thing. Just remember to look at the maintained schedule I believe it's the 3rd week of every month to his awesome community engineering marval is shut down to do maintenance. But safety is vary key if one wishes to enjoy one's time while here on the day to day life style in the city of champions. . Look forward to seeing you out there everyone

This is such a unique feature in the heart of downtown. It connects you straight down into the river valley without the long climb, and the ride itself is fun. The design is sleek, it feels safe and modern, and the views from the top and bottom are some of the best in the city. Perfect for locals showing off the city to visitors.

A smooth elevator ride takes you straigjt to nature's doorstep- lush trail, fresh river air and stunning view in minutes. Perfect blend of accesibility and adventure.5/5 experience!!
Pranjali K — Google review
This is a great way to see the River Valley! It’s about a 10 minute walk from Central Station. You get beautiful views all the way down as it goes from downtown to the promenade. My daughter loved it, adding fun to our trip. The funicular is very accessible and even fit my big wagon. The ride is quick, only about 1 minute, and the area also has stairs, a pedestrian bridge, and a lookout point, perfect for photos and relaxing. The sign said open daily from 7 am to 9 pm but is closed during winter and in extreme weather. Some locals mentioned it tends to get stuck a lot, so we were lucky it was up and running. After taking the funicular down, there’s another elevator nearby that brings you further down to the river valley, making it easy to explore the beautiful trails and river.

The elevator at the 100 Street Funicular is also one of the key landmarks. It has glass windows on all sides, allowing people to enjoy the view of North Saskatchewan River while it is in operation. The design of the nearby pedestrian staircase is very unique, and the view is quite charming.

Louise McKinney Riverfront Park is a picturesque waterfront area in Edmonton, offering walking and cycling trails, benches, and a beautiful Chinese garden with a pagoda. The 1.25-hectare landscaped Chinese Garden features authentic statues, architecture, rock ponds, Zodiac statues, and a stone pillar monument dedicated to Chinese pioneers. It's conveniently located near the Edmonton Convention Centre and offers stunning views of the river valley. Visitors can also rent bicycles or Segways from River Valley Adventure Co.
My fave spot just to hang out and sit until sunset with over view of the river and backdrop of the city's skyscrapers. If you have more time don't forget to cruise with Edmonton river boat.

A beautiful gem in the heart of Edmonton! Louise McKinney Riverfront Park offers stunning river valley views, peaceful walking paths, and plenty of space to relax or explore. Whether you’re out for a casual stroll, a bike ride along the trails, or simply looking to enjoy some nature close to downtown, this park delivers. THIS Riverfront Park is pure magic—a place where scenery, adventure, and calm blend perfectly. The scenic walkway offers stunning river views at every step, and the riverboat ride is an absolute must for a unique perspective. Adventure seekers will love the biking trails, while the cozy coffee shop is perfect for a recharge. My favourite ritual is sitting with a warm drink and a good friend, soaking in the peaceful river breeze. It’s also my go-to spot to read a book in blissful calm. Truly, one of the best places to feel alive and at peace all at once.

Amazing water front experience. The views are incredible. FYI if you go all the way down its quite a bit of steps to climb. Not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Stroller and wheelchair can go to the bridge as there is a walkway under the bridge. The views are incredible. Downtown building on one side and river/chinese garden on other side. Washroom only at entrance. Parking lot is paid check price and time before you go I have added picture for parking instructions. No kids play structure. But you will get good cardio. Over all highly recommended for the view.Check out videos and images & Follow me for more detailed reviews.

Memorial park
Nestled in the heart of Edmonton, Constable Ezio Faraone Park is a beloved destination for both exercise enthusiasts and those seeking leisure. With its scenic trails, the iconic Royal Glenora Stairs, and expansive grassy areas, it’s perfect for outdoor activities. Visitors can relax on benches that line the hilltop while enjoying breathtaking views of the High-Level Bridge and the picturesque south banks of the river.
Perfect outdoor space to take in a view of the river. It is a good spot to watch the sunset on a clear day. Many visitors bring their dogs. There are many people who partake in physical activities. There's one of the city's longest and steepest staircases that connects to the LRT catwalk that goes across the river to kinsmen park. You may also take the trail west, which leads up to other parks such as the government park and Victoria Park. If you walk the entire loop, it will also.He can also cross at a government park, which is a growth road bridge and go-to. The university area, which then connects to kinsmen. You then can continue to walk North, which will lead to words.Another park or you can cross the walter dale bridge and go back to your starting point by the Legislator building. Its one of my fave places to hangout anytime of the year!

This is really a beautiful park. At night there are cute lighting ornamentations scattered throughout, and there is always a stunning view facing south. The park can get busy with fitness types, since there is a long staircase that people use to work out on. There is plenty of room for everyone however, and you can park in the Grandin neighbourhood adjacent if you are driving here. Really cool view of the university as well as the high level and pedestrian bridges. Looking west you see the silhouette of the high rises along Victoria promenade and Jasper avenue. A great place to visit during Spring, Summer, Fall, or winter!

Queen Elizabeth Park in Edmonton is a popular spot, especially on sunny days. The park offers stunning views of the Walterdale Bridge and downtown Edmonton from its elevated location. It features various amenities including picnic spots, walking and cycling trails, a playground, parking, and washrooms. Visitors can enjoy activities such as walking, running, and cycling along the trails while taking in the vibrant atmosphere during the summer months. The park is ideal for picnics and barbecues with convenient washroom facilities available.
We visited Queen Elizabeth Park in the autumn as well. It is surrounded by many tall trees and picnic areas. Many people were walking, jogging, biking and picnicking that day. I think it is quite beautiful for a city park. I was glad to see a lovely squirrel as we were about to leave. It was a pleasant surprise.

Queen Elizabeth Park is a hidden gem in the heart of Edmonton that offers a perfect blend of cityscape views, nature, and serenity. The park sits elevated along the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River, offering sweeping panoramic views of downtown Edmonton, the iconic Walterdale Bridge, and the Alberta Legislature. As seen in the photos, the combination of dramatic skies, lush greenery, and the graceful white arch of the bridge creates an almost cinematic backdrop—especially during the golden hour. The open green spaces are ideal for picnics, casual sports, and group gatherings, as shown by the various clusters of people enjoying the field. The gently sloped hills add dimension and offer perfect vantage points for photography or quiet contemplation. The paths are well-maintained and accessible, making it a pleasant walk for both casual visitors and serious joggers. Whether you’re a visitor looking to explore Edmonton’s natural beauty or a local seeking a peaceful retreat, Queen Elizabeth Park is well worth the visit.
Alborz — Google review
I spent a few hours wandering around Queen Elizabeth Park in Edmonton and really enjoyed it. It’s such a peaceful spot tucked right by the river, with lots of open green space, trails, and beautiful views of the city skyline and the North Saskatchewan River. I loved how easy it was to just relax there — there are plenty of picnic tables and benches, plus big grassy areas that are perfect for just laying out a blanket and hanging out. The walking trails are well-kept and connect nicely to other parts of the river valley, so you can make your walk as short or long as you like. One of my favorite parts was the lookout point — the view over the Walterdale Bridge and downtown is so good, especially around sunset when the light hits the city just right. There are also some nice art installations and little signs about the history and natural features of the park, which were interesting to stop and read along the way. It felt safe and clean, and there were a few other people around jogging, walking dogs, or having family picnics, but it didn’t feel crowded at all. There’s a small parking area that was convenient, and it’s also really close if you’re walking from downtown or biking the river valley trails. A few tips: • Bring a snack or coffee and just take your time — it’s a great spot to unwind. • If you like photography, go near sunset — the views of the bridge and city are amazing then. • Lots of connecting paths, so wear comfy shoes if you want to explore more of the area. • Watch for birds — I saw quite a few songbirds and a couple of magpies hanging out in the trees. Overall, Queen Elizabeth Park is one of those places that makes you appreciate how much green space Edmonton has. It’s calm, pretty, and easy to get to — definitely worth a visit if you want a break from the city without actually leaving it. I’ll be back for sure!
Hamid B — Google review
A beautiful area to visit and it doesn’t take a lot of time. The Queen Ann park in Edmonton is a great place to take a stroll and see breathtaking views as you gaze north towards the downtown area and the Saskatchewer River. I was there on October 7th and the leaf colors were beautiful. Good place to take a walk, run or ride your bike. There is a picnic area, and playground. Very clean! Inside Queen Ann Park in the upper area is an Indigenous Art Park with several sculptures.

Bridge
The Walterdale Bridge, located near downtown Edmonton, is a modern architectural marvel that spans the North Saskatchewan River. Opened in 2018 to replace its predecessor, the bridge offers dedicated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians, making it an ideal spot for leisurely strolls or invigorating bike rides with stunning views of the river and downtown area. On one side of the bridge lies scenic spots like Skyline Beach and Queen Elizabeth Hill, offering picturesque viewpoints.
People come here during the summer to take pictures, walk around, have a picnic, and overall enjoy the outdoors, however, there’s still plenty to do during winter. The entire area is still pretty accessible during winter and you can go sledding while taking in the view of the bridge and the downtown skyline.

I really enjoyed checking out the Walterdale Bridge while I was in Edmonton. It’s such a striking modern design — the big white arches look amazing, especially when they’re lit up at night. I walked across in the evening and loved the views of the North Saskatchewan River and the downtown skyline. There’s a nice walking path and spots to stop and take photos — it’s a great place for a short stroll or to just pause and enjoy the river. If you’re exploring the river valley or downtown, it’s worth taking a detour over this bridge. Peaceful, well-kept, and makes for some really nice pictures too.

Government House Park, located near Jasper Place in Edmonton, offers a stunning experience for nature lovers. The MacKinnon Ravine trail is particularly beautiful during autumn, with its vibrant foliage creating a picturesque backdrop along the 5km paved trail that runs alongside the North Saskatchewan River. This park is popular among locals for picnics, running, and cycling.
Government House Park – a great little inner-city spot right by the River Valley. Perfect for a picnic. They’ve got rotating little fire pits, plenty of benches, and what some people call the “crazy tree” (kids love to crawl all over that little structure). Our neighbours were a few families having pizza, while we cooked a couple of hot dogs and then lay back on the blanket staring at our little fire. What a nice slice of heaven in the downtown city core—you can even see the skyline in the distance, and you don’t notice the traffic noise going by. Just another civic treat. Thank you, Edmonton.

People could enjoy the view of North Saskatchewan River Valley here. Some were biking, walking or picnicking, and it felt quite pleasant. I would like to mention that the scenery and vibe were really nice. However, it seemed there was a sewage drain nearby, which caused an unpleasant smell that day.
Kim G — Google review
I ride my bike through there twice daily. Both to and from work. I always have to stop to gaze upon the amazingly beautiful architecture and overall serenity of the place. It never ceases to amaze and bewilder me in all its splendour. The Asian peoples truly are master craftspeople, clean crisp lines, bright bold colours. I will never tire of seeing this. Thank you.
BluntandObvious — Google review
Electric bikes and scooters should not be sharing the pedestrian path as it poses a risk to other pedestrians. They were going fast and I think this should be disallowed. Otherwise a nice place for a walk. Note that there are no washrooms just a portable toilet is available.
Ginny L — Google review
Great Park place to come and visit, especially for barbecues. Although it does get very busy very fast. And the parking is not great. People are pretty stupid when they come to this park and they don't know how to park or drive on the roundabout. So if you go in it's very difficult to get out. Great place to watch the fireworks from on Canada Day.
JC ( — Google review
This is a beautiful park situated along the North Saskatchewan River. I have been here many times, and have always enjoyed spending time here. There are also limber pine trees that shed the big cones that some love to collect. If it is allowed, and I don't see why not, pick some up while visiting. If you're in the area, and want a place to relax, try Government House Park.

Accidental Beach, also known as Edmonton's infamous and temporary beach, unexpectedly emerged in the summer of 2017 due to construction activities on the Tawatina LRT bridge. The placement of large rocks altered the river current, leading to the formation of a sand bar along the river valley near Clover Dale neighborhood. Visitors can stroll along this unique beach with a view of downtown and even indulge in some sandcastle building.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Accidental Beach in Edmonton with my family, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by stunning views, and a sense of adventure. Accidental Beach is truly a hidden gem, perfect for families looking for a fun-filled day by the water. What impressed me the most was the access to the beach. It was exceptionally kids-friendly, making it easy for little ones to explore and play while parents can relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. One of the standout features of Accidental Beach was the shallow water. It is ideal for families with young children who want to dip their toes or take a refreshing swim without worrying about deep waters. The shallow areas provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. The beach itself offers a picturesque setting, nestled along the North Saskatchewan River with soft golden sand spread out. It's an excellent spot to bask in the sun, build sandcastles, or have a leisurely stroll along the shoreline. Accidental Beach also offers some amenities to enhance your visit. Restrooms are conveniently located nearby, ensuring easy access for families. Furthermore, there are picnic tables and shaded areas where you can enjoy a packed lunch or simply relax and take in the breathtaking surroundings. I must not forget to mention that the beach is well-maintained, and the staff does an excellent job of keeping the area clean and safe for visitors. It was evident that they take great pride in ensuring everyone has a fantastic experience. In conclusion, Accidental Beach in Edmonton is a must-visit destination for families seeking a delightful outdoor adventure. The kids-friendly access and shallow water make it an excellent choice, ensuring a worry-free experience for parents while little ones have a splashing good time. Don't miss out on this hidden gem — it's a perfect spot for creating lasting memories.

Astounding views of the city. A wonderful place to have an in the city beach experience. The water is very murky and dubious downtown. But it's much nicer where the rocks are. Bring river shoes. You can buy at the dollat store! We always come down with chairs and a picnic. Watching the sunset is spectacular. We often see, The river boat going past.

When the river is low, this spot feels like a hidden escape right in the middle of the city. Great views of downtown from the sand, and a fun surprise for kids or anyone wanting to dip their feet in the water. Not a polished attraction, but that’s part of its charm.

Right off the get go this place has no signs from the main road. Once you find the one way street parking is limited. No signs to get to the actual beach area. There is a steep ish hill to get to the beach (ropes in place to help ascend/descend). I would say a cool place to bring your furry friends and get some sun but nothing else. Not even porta-potties and definitely no swimming. The noise from the bridge construction isn’t terrible but it isn’t quiet either. Honesty it’s pretty bad imo.

It was beautiful out there which is also a wonderful for taking photos. Unfortunately, i came there alone so i didn't take any portrait photos. I'm absolutely going to come back someday soon. River Valley Overlook, located along Saskatchewan Drive NW, offers one of the most picturesque views in Edmonton. From this vantage point, visitors can capture stunning photos of the iconic Walterdale Bridge and take in the breathtaking panorama of the city. The overlook is conveniently situated along a scenic walking path that leads to the bridge, allowing for an up-close experience. Whether admiring the sunrise or sunset, this spot provides an incredible perspective of both the River Valley and Downtown Edmonton.
I visited River Valley Overlook at sunrise, and the view of downtown was absolutely breathtaking. The soft morning light over the skyline made it feel peaceful and almost surreal. A perfect spot to start the day—highly recommended!

We walked here from the Art Park and found that it was just a few steps from the road. Some people parked their cars next to it for a quick stop to take pictures that day. I found that the view of the Walterdale Bridge here might not be as good as in the Art Park. However, it could be a good option if people just want to leave their car temporarily.

I drove past this viewpoint by accident and immediately pulled over. The views, of the entire city of Edmonton, are breathtaking!! If I had known about this viewpoint before visiting the city I would have 100% planned to go here on one of my stops. You could spend a good amount of time here just taking it all in! There is some street parking available, but you might need to park a little bit away and then walk to the viewpoint.
Jared B — Google review
A simple and pleasant viewpoint of Downtown Edmonton, easily accessible on foot or by bike from the street. It’s also a popular spot for people on electric scooters. While the location itself is nice, the surrounding mess detracts from the experience, further reinforcing the negative impression of Edmonton, as Downtown looks quite unappealing.

A great spot to look out over the city, with a big gap in the trees making it a much better spot to catch the view than the areas around it. I can't wait to come back at night to see the city lights.

We went here because we wanted to take a sunset shot with the swing but there were people who seems like they have bought the swing for the whole day so 😅 we still managed to capture the sunset this fall, and everywhere we looked at was beautiful. So all is well.

Floden Park is another great park in Edmonton. There's access to the River Valley, playground, community hall, outdoor rink, soccer, ball diamond. Lots of open space for running around or flying a kite. Benches to rest. Big trees for shade. The Beverly Heights community has a real good one here.

Beautiful stairs right off Whitemud. There's a diagram at the top to compare how many times you go up and down to the equivalent to climbing the pyramids and Eiffel Tower. There are 236 stairs in total, with benches along the climb if the need a break.

Another great set of stairs to admire the beautiful urban landscape. Not sure how many steps in total for this one, didn’t count them but definitely felt the burn and that’s good enough for me. Right by the Whitemud Creek Nature Reserve and close to Fort Edmonton Park.

As others have said, the Grand View stairs are a great public exercise feature that is not as busy as other sets of stairs and also located in a beautiful area. There's also a counter at the top of the staircase with 12 increments that you can track your progress with.

Off-rish Park is a short course that is good for a light walk. It's quiet because it's near the residential area, and if you walk a little, there's also Keillor Point. The parking lot is small on the side of the road. I think it would be good to take a picture if the weather is nice at Viewpoint. I went when it was cloudy, but it was good.🙂

I expected climbing up the stairs to be really difficult, but it was unexpectedly easy. The view was fantastic and breathtaking; I am sure it will be even better at night when all of the lights are turned on. Overall, I had a nice time here, and I thought the trail was relatively easy. I went back up several times.

Apparently the stairs between Royal Glenora and Constable Ezio Park are no longer public—they’re now the official headquarters of Edmonton’s Jungle Gym Olympics. Went there with my family just to walk from one park to another, and suddenly we were in someone’s CrossFit circuit. People running up and down like caffeinated gorillas, giving us dirty looks like we crashed their sacred temple of sweat. Relax, Tarzan—it’s a staircase, not your personal monkey bars.

Rowland Park Lookout offers an unparalleled view of downtown and the river valley, making it a fantastic spot to admire the cityscape. With several benches and ample grass space, visitors can comfortably take in the panoramic views of the North Saskatchewan River, downtown area, Muttart Conservatory, Valley Line LRT, and Walterdale Bridge. The lookout is easily accessible and provides a peaceful atmosphere for both relaxation and leisurely walks along the nearby trails.
Fantastic views of the city, the river, and beyond. I would personally recommend going to the parking lot, and finding one of the footpaths up to where the high school is up the hill. If hiking up a steeper incline isn't on your to-do list, the best views are up by the high school, around the back of its grounds. Alternatively you can go and park up there to save yourself the walk, and get the same fantastic views.

Underrated but one of the best views of Edmonton downtown for free. A quick stop at a perfect time will get you some amazing view and night lights. Free parking on residential street.
