This restaurant totally worth the hype and the name. We found about it through social media but also the host from our Airbnb from Catania recommended it. The prices are very low compared to the services and quality you are getting in return. You cand find plenty of local dishes and what wenhave trier was very good, a very pleasant experience. You have to be careful because at lunch and in the evening without a reservation it is best to head there at the opening hours if you do not want to wait for a table so maybe you want to keep this in mind.

A lovely Trattoria that punches well above it's weight. The dishes are good value and plentiful. The Hugo spritz is one of the best we've enjoyed in Sicily. Beautifully presented, which is something my own country could learn from. Desserts were also enjoyable.

Walking into Trattoria del Cavaliere felt like slipping into a genuine slice of Catanese everyday life. Situated on Via Paternò in central Catania, the place buzzes with chatter, the clinking of glasses and the smell of sizzling grills — very informal, very alive. I kicked off with a mixed antipasto di mare: fresh shrimp, polpo and a rough-cut tuna carpaccio. Then I opted for one of their pasta dishes — simple but satisfying — and followed it with the grilled swordfish. The fish was appropriately fresh, grilled over coals, and served with minimal fuss but maximum flavour. The staff recommended a local white wine, and overall the meal felt very Sicilian. What stood out most: the value. Portions are generous, the prices modest for the portion size and freshness. One review noted: “we were very more than satisfied … we spent about €43 for two”. The service was friendly, though definitely rushed when the place got full — you get the sense they turn tables rather than linger with you. Some guests also mentioned occasional dips in quality during the busiest hours. If I were picking one word for it: authentic. If you’re after a polished fine-dining evening, this might feel a little rustic. But if you want real Sicilian food, proper portions and local atmosphere without pretension — this is a solid choice. My tip: go a bit earlier, request a quieter spot if you prefer less noise, and arrive hungry.

Excellent restaurant and service. The pasta and the mussels were great. My pasta was SO good. A must try place when in Catania. Great service and in a great location. Prices were great for the amount of food they give you. Love this place. A definitely must go to!!

Amazing price-value ratio, even regardless of the price the food was amazing and fresh. Even though the menu is only available in italian staff speaks english, the service was fast, we got our order within 10 minutes. It felt authentic and friendly, not a tourist trap at all. 10/10 would recommend:))

Although a bit on the expensive side, the food is authentic and the service is top notch. Could get crampy because of the tight orientation of the tables. The calamari and mussels were so good. Although the mixed fish fry was a miss. Great wine collection and u can only get the whole bottle.

Overpriced and tourist trap! The vegetables were not grilled properly and they were raw/cold and there was no olive oil in the salad. Plates and cutlery were low quality. Waiters were extremely arrogant - terrible service and atmosphere. You can find better fish and fish restaurant in Sicily for a better price and atmosphere.

Worth to visit I’ve been looking for seafood restaurant in Catania, then I booked for dinner for two. Everything was perfect, especially caramari e gamba fritters and squid ink pasta were impeccable. In addition, I wanted to do something for my friend’s birthday here. The hall staff Luigi listened to me very carefully and he helped a lot!!!!! We have had a good time. I strongly recommend this restaurant!

Perched right next to the fish market, this restaurant obviously serves the freshest seafood. It was too hot to sit outside on the terrace and the interior was nice and cosy. I started with the selection of cooked and raw seafood accompanied by an excellent local Rosé followed by the Spaghetti Vongole. Overall and excellent meal. Service was also exceptional.

My grilled fish was chosen directly from the counter, and the waiter suggested a crisp Etna Bianco that paired beautifully. The service was warm and unpretentious, exactly what I love in a local trattoria. They didn’t rush me, even though the restaurant was full, and their genuine enthusiasm for the food was contagious. It’s not a quiet place — the market noise seeps in constantly — but that’s part of the magic. Osteria Antica Marina isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. If you want to taste the real soul of Catania, this is where you should go.

We ordered oysters and it was a worst experience ever. The oysters came dry and smelly, faster than drinks. I could definetely tell it wasn’t fresh and opened much before we placed the order. After I complained they replaced them to new ones but those didnt seemed to be fresh neither. No sorry or anything from the staff and got a 5 euros compulsary service charge added to the bill. Skip this place if possible

The spaghetti with red shrimp tartare was disappointing and terrible. Idk if it’s inspired by Japanese food, with bonito flakes, but it’s under seasoned and it’s just weird combination. The scampi tagliolini was not as a nightmare as the other one, but the seafood was not fresh. The food was generally overpriced. Definitely a trap :( The staff were super unfriendly, especially the one standing in the counter

Typical traditional local restaurant with a classic touch. Nice dining area with style ,but nothing too extraordinary. The actual food is simple and quite plain. Do not expect any exceptional experience. Service is slow as is to be the kitchen itself.

We had a delicious lunch of traditional Sicilian dishes. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the service was very good. During our time in Sicily we paid much more for meals of lower quality.

The restaurant its beautiful, its all about food once you see their kitchen with the chefs hustle and the products on display. The squid quality was extremely good. Tender, fresh and nice flavor to it. The pistachio fish, on point. The fish steak was juicy, thick, with nice crust and full of flavor (my favorite). Good if you want more of a confortable meal. Now the anchovy pasta for me was not as special as the anchovies could have a bit more flavor/saltyness to it, but well to others on the table it was by far the best of the night. Their prices are very good, with really friendly service. I could say maybe the only thing it lack of its a bit of background music, seems a bit stale and quite to my preference.

This was such a surprise. We stumbled on this place by chance. On my top 3 restaurant list in Cantania. Their concept of traditional and slow food is captivating . Their mission statement is on the menu and is clearly their north star. We loved it so much, we booked dinner for the next day. The staff is so friendly and professional. Made sure one of us got everything gluten free as asked. Went above and beyond. My favorite thing was the wine and cheese combo. Indescribable. Eat at least a meal here. You won’t regret it!

Me Cumpari Turiddu: Where the Locals Eat (and What That Actually Means) There are restaurants for tourists, and then there are restaurants where the tourists have not yet arrived—or have arrived, looked at the menu, and promptly left. Me Cumpari Turiddu in Catania falls decisively into the latter category. This is where the locals go. One knows this not from any sign or advertisement but from the atmosphere itself: that particular vibe of a place that exists for its own community, that has no interest in explaining itself or apologizing for what it is. The wine list confirms this—local reserves, the kind that never make it onto international lists because they’re drunk here, by people who know. We ordered with a mixture of curiosity and trepidation. The menu offered local fare, which is to say: food that comes from this specific place and no other, whether or not the wider world is ready for it. Donkey, for instance. We did not order the donkey. This is not a judgment, merely a confession. Every traveler has their limits, and ours, apparently, do not extend to equines, however traditionally prepared. What we did eat: salads and vegetables that were divine—this word is not hyperbole but accurate description. Things pulled from Sicilian soil have a different quality than things pulled from elsewhere. The tubular meats (I leave the specific taxonomy to others more versed in Italian charcuterie) were excellent. The local cheeses—creamy, tangy, perfect against the local bread—reminded us that cheese is not a monolith but a conversation between milk, time, and place. And then: my fresh grilled tuna. It tasted, if I’m honest, a little off. Not dangerously so—I’m still here to write this—but off. That slight edge that suggests the fish was perhaps not as fresh as advertised, or had been held slightly too long, or had been handled in some way that compromised it. These things happen, even in Sicily, even in restaurants where locals eat. The Nero d’Avola helped. It always does. A good Sicilian red can wash down a multitude of sins, culinary and otherwise. At the end we waited for the waiter to bring the check which never came. We watched the locals who when done stood up and paid at the front. As did we. Would we return? Yes, though perhaps we’d order differently. The pleasure of Me Cumpari Turiddu is not perfection but authenticity—that increasingly rare quality of a place that refuses to be anything other than itself. This is what we travel for, isn’t it? Not the sanitized, the safe, the guaranteed. But the real, the local, the challenging. The meal that reminds us we are somewhere particular, eating what the people here eat, for better and occasionally for worse. The Nero d’Avola, I should mention, was superb.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Go early in the morning for the freshly hand-made cannoli. I usually have to take them outside to eat, because the wait for a empty table can be long in the busy season. If you have the time eat them at a table with a nice expresso. The green filled cannoli's are my favorites, I always miss that great taste when I do find one in a Paris bakery.

I LOVED this cafe. Yes, it was very busy and hard to find a table…. But that’s for good reason. They have great pastries at great prices. I didn’t try their savory, but I’m sure it is also very good. I got their cannoli and a large rum baba filled with pastry cream. Both fantastic! The cannoli had a lighter shell than most I had, which didn’t really make it better or worse in my mind. Just different. The rum baba- oh wow. So delicious! Super moist and flavorful. It’s huge for the price too.

This place was recommended to us. Busy with locals, it’s a great place to grab an arancini or cannoli. Get yourself in line to pay first, then wait for your ticket number to be called.

Loved the granita (chocolate and pistachio) and the brioche buns here, super soft with a lovely hint of citrus. We ended up coming back twice just for the granita and brioche! The arancini catanese was good, though the pistachio one was a bit bland despite being freshly made. The wait for a table can take a bit, but the waiters were kind.

It was recommended to me by my hotel. It was a very good selection of tasty Sicilian food like Arancini, Croissant, sweets, coffee, any many more. I really liked the Cafe al Ginsing, Spinach Arancini, and Pistachio Croissant. Just one drawback is that as this is very popular place, there is sometimes a waiting queue where people sometimes need to stand for say 20mins in peak hours, but it is worth it. Waiters service is good and they speak English. Card payments are accepted.

Best cannoli and pastries, both sweet and savory. The arancini were great also. However, the service we received was not the very best. Our waiter seemed more distracted by friends than to pay attention to us.

Chef's panini had a lot of flavour: sweet, sour, spicy, smoky. Good ham, mozzarella and vegetables were balanced with bread. Would be amazing if bread wasn't a bit dry/stale and 5/5. Caponata without tomato sauce and various vegetables was good and interesting.

Tables and chairs crammed in the middle of the market. Many seatings available. Hot and noisy. The order was done at the table and the food was served to the table. Had sandwich no.6 (chef's choice). I had high expectations based on earlier reviews saying that it was the best sandwich in the world. But the version I got was not that amazing. It was good, but overfilled with too many ingredients. All had mild flavour and similar texture. Big and filling sandwich for the price. A half sandwich would have been enough for me.

What a wonderful experience!! This place is an absolute must-visit when you're in the area. Be sure to try the #6 panini — it’s an explosion of flavor! We came back several times during our stay because we just couldn’t get enough. The staff are warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is lively, and yes — it’s busy, but totally worth it!

The sandwiches are massive and delicious! Watching them be prepared is an experience of its own, and while you should expect to find a line, it’s definitely worth the wait… Watch the brief video at the end! They do have outdoor seating too, though, and - even though it’s smacked in the middle of the Ortigia Market and the area may look chaotic, make no mistake… they’ll seat you, take your order (or the other way around, like we did!), and bring it to you in perfectly organized fashion! Also, super nice people! A must-come if in the Siracusa/Ortigia area!

This is the best place I have ever been to for a sandwich. The ingredients were so fresh. The staff were amazing. I initially ordered the wrong sandwich and they saw that something was wrong and made me a completely new sandwich. Lovely people.

A must-visit for panini lovers. We came back multiple times during the trip and tried several combinations (8, 9, 11). All were fantastic, but the one with almond (11) — surprisingly without any meat — was the standout. Be prepared for long queues, especially at peak times, but the food is worth the wait. The first time we were there, lady in the cashier took a long time to get our orders.

This small fish fast-food spot is right in the city center, on a street near the main square where during the day there’s a fish market. The smell of fish is noticeable, but you can get used to it. The place had many positive reviews and always seemed busy, so I decided to try a fish’n’chips style cone. The staff was very friendly. The first time I went, I was told they didn’t serve fries, but I could get the fried cone on its own, which was fine. My order arrived within a minute or two, and it came with a plate, napkins, and lemon wedges. The fish was fresh, the batter crisp, and the quality of the seafood was excellent. Even as someone who normally doesn’t enjoy fish and seafood, I liked everything I tried. It was so good, that a few days later I went back. The cone was just as good as the first visit, served the same way. This time there were more small octopus pieces, which slightly dominated the mix compared to shrimp or calamari and other fish, but it was still very tasty. Overall the food is fresh, high quality, and consistently well prepared. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to try some seafood in a casual, fast-food style setting.

We saw a travel blog recommending this place. Had a lunch meal on our first day and it was great. The boneless seafood cone was awesome and the arancini were great. We were so impressed we went back for dinner on our last night. Easy ordering and they call your name out (loudly) with your order when its ready. Great quality food and worth the visit.

The food is pretty much perfect. They have a variety and they have as much as you need for a quick fish meal. A big con however is its location, Catania is kinda known for being dirty and smelly but this location was so bad. It smells really really bad, I was there at summer. Overall though it’s nice, it is kinda self service, you order to the counter and lay and they bring it to you. Nothing special, but the food is delicious!! I tried octopus salad, sword fish/aubergine salad and boneless cone. If ı have chance to come again ı will the choose same three, no hesitation a perfect seafood place! I also got the couscous salad but I am not a big fan of it.

Had boneless cone, lemon mayo, bread and beer. Cold beer & fried food in the heat never goes wrong. The seafood was well cooked - soft inside and crispy outside. Light & thin fry. Well seasoned that I felt that I did not need anything else (not even lemon). I would not recommend the bread though. The lemon mayo also had a lot of mint - which I enjoyed, but it was unpleasant surprise for my husband who does not like mint. Could be better if they clearly stated in the menu that there were mint also. We sat outdoors. Some fishy smell from the fish market nearby, but got used to it quickly that it did not bother much.

Pretty cool way to try Catania’s seafood. I tried the boneless cone while my friend went for the fish cakes. Mine was decent, slightly salty and not too remarkable, but the fish cakes stood out, with flavors that were unique and nicely balanced. The staff were friendly too

Good spot for lunch and snacks. Somewhat of a wait around lunchtime - maybe 15-20 minutes on a Saturday. While you wait in line, a table becomes available. Service is friendly and quick. Had the fennel/orange-salad and the fried cod fingers - both were great and delicious!

Food was fine, nothing special. Location is beautiful right on water. Go for the view and a drink but not if you are expecting the best seafood.

Had a great meal here despite them forgetting to deliver my main meal. Lucky there was plenty left over from the rest of the families dishes as serving sizes were generous. Anyway, my main was promptly taken off the bill with many apologies from the lovely staff. Super view and atmosphere in this place and we will go back.

The service didn’t feel very warm — perhaps due to cultural differences. Compared with the table next to us, our dining experience felt quite rushed. The waiter repeatedly asked if we wanted water, and after the food was served, no one cleared our plates even long after we had finished. That said, the view was excellent. If you’re here for the Cefalù sunset, this spot is definitely one of the best choices. As for the food, it wasn’t really to our taste: portions were small and the pasta sauce was overly salty.

Have to say the staff were fantastic and attentive and watching the sunset from their outdoor seating was lovely! Their wines were also great along with the oysters. Food was as good as you’d expect when they’re serving that many tables.

Truly a let down in what should have been a beautiful evening. The food didn’t taste fresh, and the pizzas were also quite sad to look at and eat. I had such high hopes for this restaurant and was let down. We tried the oysters and prawn cocktail The oysters looked like the worst oysters they had to offer, and the prawn cocktail was pre made bag of lettuce, tiny prawns and a massive glob of sauce on top. For the pizzas, it looked like no effort was put in and thrown on the plate. I wanted to rave out this place but just cannot, so for that reason I do NOT recommend

I had a Minestrone, also known as vegetable soup. It's been almost a week since I'm Sicily and I finally found one. Was delicious! We sat on the back terrace with view to the see.

Chatgbt recommended us this place. We paid 28.5 Eur for 2 pasta, 2 fanta, 2 Cappuccino and a bread basket, which I find it really good. I ate Rigatini Pesce Spade e Melanzane and my husband Spaghetti all‘ Amatriciana. Good food with good prices. Worth to try!

Very good pizze with taste and huge quantities for few bucks! The pasta was a little two soft and not enough baked and floured like I like it. But tasted great anyway. One pizza is enough for two "normal" appetites. The restaurant is fast food look alike but it is a good pizzeria. We took a Calzone and a normal one and the size was impressive. We took the leftover in a box for the next day (half of each). Go there is you want a huge pizza for great money without cosy and nice decorated room. Could be good for group.

Very quick service, generous servings, prices are as low as possible(from 4 euro for a main course and 1.5 euro for a soft drink/small beer) , friendly staff. Basically all you need. Highly recommended.

Ended up coming here on a recommendation from a friend in NY. Liked it so much I came here 3 times. Agatino the owner was fabulous, he treated us like family. His pasta and pizza recommendations were spot on. This is a nice family run restaurant with great homestyle cooking. Miller graci.

Restaurant looks like huge chaos but can be interesting. Bread was old and rubbery. Service is not as friendly as I would expect. About food. Salat wasn’t fresh and with bitterness in the taste. Portions of seafood were quite small. Was not bad, but not worthy 20€. First day in Sicily and very disappointing. Last but not least. Way how the owner of restaurant is discussing with clients, shows that this business should be closed forever. And for your notice “mr owner” - I have traveled many places. I have always looked for local restaurants not for tourists and I was never that disappointed as here. You are all on this restaurant obviously pointless and cheating on quality of products.

Me and my 4 sisters attended this restaurant for a birthday lunch, can I start off by saying the restaurant itself is beautiful! The decor is very unique alongside the placement of all the random vintage pieces along the wall magnificent! We ordered a few dishes and the total amount (€160) was extremely affordable we live in London so the price difference for the seafood was great! If you come definitely get the grilled sea-bream it was cooked to perfection, the mussels were very tasty so was the octopus salad! The only downside was the grilled prawns I feel they could have grilled them for longer maybe split them down the middle so they are cleaned better and included more seasonings as they were very bland. Apart from the prawns everything else was amazing the service was excellent and we was even offered lemoncello on the house. I would definitely come back when we are next in Sicily.

This is a great restaurant! One of the few good ones we tried whilst in Catania. The food is delicious with good portion sizes. The staff are nice and helpful. We tried the frutta di mare, the breaded swordfish and the spaghetti with prawns and zucchini and they were all delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Incredible place. We were looking for authentic and not touristic food and this place had it all. We ordered the squid ink spaghetti and the pasta with mussels and pesto. It was beautiful, fresh, big portions and reasonable prices. One of the owners talked to us and gave us Sicilian fruits to try for dessert. Puta do Calabrisi – A Hidden Gem in Catania A true local spot with a warm, down-to-earth vibe. The food was excellent — homemade, hearty and full of flavor. I had a variety of dishes from pasta al forno to grilled swordfish, and everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. Even the antipasti and desserts were delicious. On top of that, the prices were incredibly affordable, especially for the quality and portions you get. If you’re in Catania and want a no-frills, authentic Sicilian experience, this is the place. Highly recommend!

We stopped at A Putìa do Calabrisi for lunch — and it felt like traveling back in time! This place is a treasure — like stepping into a piece of Calabrese history, full of charm, character, and warmth. The food was fantastic, the beer ice-cold, and the service was incredible. The two sisters who run the place are absolutely amazing — fun, welcoming, and full of stories. The whole restaurant is covered in photos and memories, which gives it such a unique and cozy vibe. And the best part? The prices are super fair! Easily one of our favorite places in Catania — authentic, delicious, and full of heart. A must-visit!

Best caponata I've ever had. The maccheroni with tuna ragu (daily special) was also very good. The staff were so friendly even though we couldn't speak Italian. We only passed through Catania so I have nothing to compare this place to, but felt like a neighbourhood gem!

Unbelievable food, value, atmosphere and welcome. I had the meat menu, my wife had the fish, both were delicious and the staff were amazing. A short walk from the historic centre. When we return to Catania this will be top of our list of places to go again.

Good menu, nice choice of vegetarian meals, I struggled to find anywhere in Sicily that caters to vegans so I compromise. Massimo, who I believe is the owner is very welcoming and friendly. I had an antipasto dish the 1st time I went and pasta second time round, and they do beers by the bottle small and large. Very reasonably priced, average cost of the pasta dishes were around €8 -€12. I definitely recommend this place if you happen to be in Palermo.

Food was very tasty and fairly priced but very small portions. Also, many options listed on the menu were not available. Service was exceptionally SLOW (1h 30min to get from from ordering. Would NOT recommend if you are hungry!!!

Terrible! More than 35 minutes of waiting to eat some raw casadieri with a supposed carbonara that was nothing more than a scrambled egg with pancetta and a lot of salt and pepper. To finish, they kept us waiting another 10 minutes to pay, because we couldn't go to the counter ourselves, the person who served the whole place alone had to come (thank goodness there were only six of us). The joke, the worst 28 euros of the whole trip to Catania. Don't go if you are in a hurry, hungry and even less if you are in the mood for tasty pasta and good service. Not to return!

While they may not always have everything on the menu available, what they do serve is exceptional. Their vegan pasta options are fantastic - the pasta pomodoro and norma are absolutely incredible. The prices are remarkably reasonable for such high-quality pasta, especially considering it's located right around the corner from much pricier hipster establishments. The family who runs it is genuinely lovely, and despite the relaxed, uncrowded setting, the food quality is outstanding. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for authentic, delicious pasta without the fancy restaurant markup!

Food is random, just ok. Salty, not tasty, too boiled. House wine was terrible quality. Service is not very friendly. Prices are a bit higher than nearby restaurants that offer quite better food and wine. The only good thing was that I could get a table on Saturday night without having a reservation and no waiting time. But I would not come back nor recommend.

Interesting place but be very careful of the places with food out front and no menu. I was charged €14 for a limoncello spritz and small plate of Sicilian eggplant. The customers next to me were charged €23 for bread and a bottle of beer each. That place was a tourist ripoff.

Our first Sicilian market experience and it didn't let us down. Lots of vendors yelling and singing at each other. Some fresh and not so fresh produce on offer. The punnets of strawberries were starting to ferment in the heat, juicy though. A lot of the stalls were selling the same tourist items but there was a lot of fresh food vendors too.

Visited Mercato del Capo while in Palermo. The atmosphere was lively and chaotic in the best way, with stalls selling fresh seafood, produce, cheeses, and street snacks. Grabbed some fritto misto di mare — tasty and only €5. It gets busy, but that’s part of the fun and energy. Overall, a fantastic place to get lost and dive into true local flavors. Saluti

Pretty place, lots of the exact same products between different stalls, food is decent, most of it is fried. Vegetables, fruits, aperol, souvenirs, jars of pestos and pastes, spices and some pasta is sold here.

The Mercato del Capo is one of the essential experiences in Palermo. Walking through this vibrant, historic market is like stepping into the city's lively, beating heart—it’s loud, colorful, and completely authentic. We spent time walking through the bustling stalls and taking in the incredible atmosphere. The market is packed with fresh produce, fish, meats, and street food. The quality is exceptionally high, which we proved with a simple purchase: the pomegranate juice I had here was truly the best in the world! It was incredibly fresh and vibrant, likely due to the season. I also bought a selection of herbs to bring back home to Germany, a perfect, flavorful souvenir. Beyond shopping, the market is a fantastic place for people-watching. It's fascinating to see the locals interacting with the vendors, hearing the calls of the stall owners, and witnessing the daily hustle and bustle. The energy is infectious. If you are looking for an authentic taste of Palermitan life, want to buy incredibly fresh ingredients, or just want the best fruit juice you've ever had, Mercato del Capo is a must-visit.

Very traditional and clean and safe, lots local foods and pastries

A few street food vendors and small stores selling seafood and daily goods. I only walked by, as I didn’t feel it’s worth spending more time there.

Amazing sandwiches. Prosciutto mozzarella and tomato. spicy ventricina salami baked ricotta grilled peppers mixed salad chili pate spread and two small beers. Bread had sesame seeds. YUM! Place was packed and wildly efficient and service fast. We ended up going inside after lunch and buying more food, bread and goods to go.

I stopped by to pick up some local souvenirs — a variety of cheeses and cured meats — and ended up sitting down for a small bite as well. The service was excellent, and the snacks were amazing; and all this was on the lively edge of the street market. It became one of my favorite memories from Ortigia. Highly recommended!

This was our absolute favourite place!! We made this part of our morning routine - we would run in the morning and then end with a coffee and we had two different GO TO meals. Burrata with the zucchini and quince jam! This with the mortadella was insane flavours. We also tried the salad croissants which is where you can choose the same filling as the sandwiches but in the croissants. We also took sandwiches down to the beach one day- we were told that the sandwich bar next door was average and this could be true even though we didn’t try next door! Great staff - a serious institution!!

After trying many cannolis in Palermo, I can confidently say this was by far the best. In addition to their amazing cannolis, we sampled a variety of mignons and an iris — and everything was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was wonderful too, filled with local workers grabbing a quick bite and kids returning from school, which made it feel genuinely authentic. The host was incredibly warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. We had food elsewhere in Palermo that was half as good for twice the price. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone visiting — I honestly wish I could eat here every day.

Amazing. Pastries as beautiful as they are delicious. Good coffee, lovely chocolate. Friendly, decent prices, and they deliver to a lot of restaurants too, like the excellent Osteria Alivàru. If I lived near to this place I'd either be huge or I'd have vitamin deficiency. Not a lot of veg here.

While the cakes themselves were nice, the man who served us was rude. Obnoxious clearly into his phone more than serving us and being somewhat stuck up with my friend's best attempt to speak Italian seemingly consistently misunderstanding which cake she wanted, one or two pieces of. He then proceeded to play with his phone as he was half wrapping our package and generally seemed just annoyed at our existence. The taste of cakes was definitely not worth the attitude that we were given in this place

Pasticceria Cappello is truly the best sweet shop in Palermo. The quality of their baked goods is outstanding, and I absolutely love it. Every time I stay in Palermo, this place makes me fall in love with the city even more. I ended up going there every day to enjoy their delicious cakes and pastries. Highly recommended!

Local cafe/pastry shop. Came here to check if it’s actually the best cannoli in Palermo. Maybe in Palermo it may be the best but i’ve had better. Everyone may like their cannolis in many ways. Their cannoli was different. Did taste authentic. Coffee was good. Service was good, staff were friendly. The best part is this shop is local so the prices are not that expensive. 1 cannoli & a coffee for 2.5 euro! They have alot of variety I would visit again! Highly recommend.

Lovely atmosphere, wonderfully kind staff, and absolutely delicious food! This became our favourite restaurant in Palermo. We enjoyed it so much that we went back a second time during our five-day stay. I highly recommend booking a table in advance, as it’s usually quite busy, especially at dinner.

Best food I had in Palermo and among the best in Sicily. The wait was a little long despite reservations but that’s because the place is so good. They do have a lot of seating if outdoor space is open, and ambience is excellent. Inside was really cool and rustic and outside in an amazing part of town with a lot of old world charm. All the locals said this was the best food in the city, and they were correct! Our waiter Farad was amazing and worked really hard, was awesome with recommendations and very friendly. This restaurant is definite go to!!!

Very well located and with delicious food. They have a terrace with some tables having a view of the cathedral. We had lunch inside and it was also very nice. The place has many kinds of wines, red and white, from Sicily. The pasta was delicious l. I would recommend as a very good option for your lunch while visiting the center of Palermo

A great spot, even if it’s a bit touristy - excellent location, with a charming stone courtyard in traditional Sicilian style and cool air-conditioned seating inside. The staff speaks English, and the food was excellent, especially the seafood pasta. We were very happy with our visit! I’d recommend coming right at opening time or booking in advance to get a table.

Arrived from NYC and this place was recommended by one of tour guides. A reservation is highly recommended. They have an extensive local wine list. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the ravioli , pasta with sausage, and the pork with potatoes. The desert was excellent. It was the best food we had in Palermo.

We were visiting Catania and wanted an authentic experience. We tried this place based on reviews and it didn’t disappoint. Nice atmosphere and great food selection with some authentic Catanese options. We had the fried sardines as an appetizer and eggplant Parmesan which were amazing. The for main course one of us had steak filet, incredible meat; the local pasta with pistachio cream and bacon, the he seafood risotto and finally the Catania pasta with anchovies and olives. All dishes were fantastic.

Some of the best food we've found in Catania. Beef, it's what's for dinner! Fillet and entrecote (ribeye) both excellent. Nice sides, really good wine by the glass and decent bottle selections. Service is a bit slow, but probably not out of character for the area. The atmosphere is absolutely top notch. Really hard to think of a better place to sit and have a leisurely lunch. Plus, they have wifi.

We absolutely loved Vuciata in Catania! The restaurant is right in the middle of a lively market street, which makes the atmosphere vibrant and fun. We tried the seafood risotto, mixed fried fish, spaghetti with shrimp and fennel, and a tiramisu. Everything was incredible. The flavors were fresh, perfectly balanced, and full of character. It was so good that we came back a second day just to enjoy it again. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Catania and craving amazing italian food!

I am pleased to the waiter who grants my wish for the dish that I was dying to try to and was not on the menu which is swordfish with eggplant and mint a very authentic sicilian dish that blew my expectation. We enjoyed the pastas we had and loved it. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Overall we had a wonderful experience.

Friend had swordfish carpaccio-no flavor, a steak cut and rated it a 3, hard to cut, pulled out veins 😵 a lot of fat. Staff was good but didn’t check back for a second round of drinks. Multiple seating areas inside and street.

I find it difficult to recommend this restaurant in its current state. At first glance, it promises an elegant and authentic Sicilian dining experience - but unfortunately, it falls short. While the presentation is attractive and the service passable, the overall quality doesn’t justify the price. The flavors are present but muted, and the portions are underwhelming. The atmosphere is decent, but an unpleasant sewage odor significantly detracts from the experience. That said, with some thoughtful improvements - particularly to flavor and ambiance - this place has the potential to offer an excellent experience. For now, however, I’d suggest exploring other options for a truly satisfying Sicilian meal.

I wish I could give this restaurant 6 stars. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. We asked them to choose the wine and the food, figuring that they knew the menu better than we did, and we were right. Each dish they brought was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Finally, the cost is very reasonable for what it is. We will definitely return!

The food, service, and ambiance of Ristorante Quattro mani is unbeatable. Everything my wife and I had was fantastic! The truffle ravioli and citrus crusted swordfish was out of this world. We ended the meal with the classic limone granite. Very attentive staff, too! Highly recommend.

This was by far the worst meal I had in Italy. While the atmosphere and service are ok, the food was an utter disappointment. The raw prawns were incredibly pungent compared to other sweet, clean tasting raw prawns I had elsewhere in Sicily, and the pastas lacked any flavor and complexity. Go elsewhere.

I rarely give a restaurant 10/10 points, but Quattro mani deserves full points for both the food and the service. The steak was perfectly cooked topped with delicious potatoes. The pasta was also very good, marvellous choice of herbs! The staff was very friendly and professional and made us feel welcomed. Big recommendation for this restaurant.

Tasty Arancina which is made fresh per order. I really liked the chicken and curry one. The place is more of a to-go restaurant wiry limited seating capacity. The staff is friendly and speak english. The prices are ok as the place is in the center of Palermo.

The atmosphere and setting are truly beautiful. However, the food portions are quite small more of a gourmet style so it feels overpriced for something that wasn’t particularly exceptional. Please remember to book a table in advance through their website, as it can get very crowded. Note that there’s a fee to secure your reservation, but it will be deducted from your final bill.

Today brought a bit of serendipity: I visited the salt plains near Marsala and discovered Sei Mamma Cara, a restaurant with stunning views of the windmills and shimmering salt pools. The setting is truly *bellissimo*—I can only imagine how magical sunset must be here. For lunch, we enjoyed local specialties: fresh tuna and amberjack, both beautifully prepared to highlight their natural flavors. The seafood was perfectly complemented by a crisp Catarratto wine, a Sicilian classic known for its citrus and mineral notes that pair so well with the region’s fish. Contrary to some reviews, the service was attentive and friendly, even in the 34-degree heat. The menu and wine list were extensive, and everything we tried was excellent. I’d return in a heartbeat for a sunset dinner and drinks—this place is a true gem on the Sicilian coast.

The atmosphere and service is as always good, we have been here many times before and always enjoyed it and bring guests with us every time. Although this time the aperitif menu booked in advance is extremely expensive for what it is, one drink and three small bruschetta for €30! Is way too much.

The sunset rooftop experience was amazing. The waiter was extremely useful and had so much useful information about the salt pans. I was expecting the food not to match the view, however, the food was exquisite. The octopus was out of this world and was the best I have ever tried. I would 100% recommend the roof top expire at sun set to anyone.

It was not busy (out of high season) and there was plenty of staff. Many had looked at our table several times, but it took about 20 minutes after we asked to order before somebody came. Also, it's super overpriced, a coca cola costs more here than in the center of Rome. The location is beautiful though.

Cantunera Ibla is a little gem in Ragusa Ibla that focuses on just two things — arancini and cannoli — and does both incredibly well. The arancini are delicious, with a perfectly crunchy outer shell and a flavorful, well-seasoned filling. But the real standout is the cannolo. Truly the best we’ve ever had — the shell is crisp and fresh, and the cream is light, slightly sweet, and incredibly tasty. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into making them. Nadia, the owner, is wonderfully friendly and makes you feel right at home. If you’re in Ibla, this place is a must-visit for a quick bite and a truly unforgettable dessert.

They serve you arancini just made for you. They are absolutely terrific. My personal favorite was with ragù. The crew is very friendly and nice. You can seat there and also have drinks, wine, whatever. And don't skip on the canollo for the dessert.

Great pizza with lots of a bit more unique variations! Great place to eat if you’re craving for pizza and don’t want to commit to a whole pie of the same flavor. We also liked the crust! Was honestly preparing myself for something chewy and bready looking at the pizzas but super enjoyed that it was soo light and easy to eat! Also good serving size for the price.

We ordered three different pizzas: from bottom to top, the Margherita di Biga, Patate e Mozzarella, and Cotto e Funghi. All three had a deliciously light and airy crust, which really stood out. A bit similar to a focaccia. The Margherita and the Cotto were served without basil, even though it belongs on the pizzas. A small detail, but noticeable. Definitely because the pizza toppings lacked a bit of flavor. Of the three, the Cotto e Funghi was definitely the highlight: well-balanced, flavorful. The other two could have used just a bit more depth in taste to really shine. Overall, a tasty first pizza experience in Palermo, with room for small improvements.

Everything in the sandwiches was fresh and extremely well balanced. We got the “Polpo crocante” and “Tonno rosso”. Both the polpo and tonno were tender, fresh and cooked to perfection. Very satisfied with our choice.

I initially thought this was just a pizzeria, but it turns out they also offer a great selection of appetizers, first and second courses. I ordered the linguine con tartare di scampi (a special off the menu), and it was absolutely perfect - sweet, delicate, and full of flavor. The location is right in the center of Favignana with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Prices are fair for the quality of the food. Highly recommended!

while their house pizza vecchio stile is good, their norma pizza tastes cheap. cheese tastes low quality and is overloaded, so that the melanzane could not be tasted. service was average. waiter was not very enthusiatic. Edit: sorry, it must be MY BAD that I don‘t know salted ricotta, when there is salted ricotta dishes in every restaurant in this region and only at yours it tasted like 1 € supermarket cheese! very sorry! 😂🤡

We went here on a Friday night in search of pizza. Got there at 9pm and they’d run out. They convinced us to stay with 10% off the main menu and we’re so glad we did. Really good Sicilian food that you’d not be surprised to see in a fancy restaurant at double the price. I had the amberjack fillet (white fish) with potato fondant and oyster mushroom. My partner had busiate pasta with clams. Perfectly cooked, flavoured and presented. Locals dining and chatting in a relaxed atmosphere, with very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

My experience at Pizzeria Vecchio Stile on Favignana was nothing short of excellent, perfectly balancing superb food with genuine Sicilian hospitality. The management’s commitment to quality is evident, as the owner is present and hands-on, ensuring every detail is taken care of—a level of care exemplified by the thoughtful gift of fresh fichi d’India (prickly pears) we received. BEST PIZZA in Favignana and in my top 3 in Sicily! If you’re on the island and crave some really delicious pizza this is the place to be! The dough is really digestible, the quality of the tomatoes and anchovies (a staple in Trapani’s pizza) is great! The staff is very kind and friendly. We come here every year and it never disappoints!

Amazing pizza spot!! All of the staff and owner were awesome, very accommodating the whole night, and great patio outside the main walking area. The Mortazza was stunning and Favignanese was a great specialty; great time, tons of laughs, fantastic pizza. Andrea was a great host to us for the night!

We visited this pizzeria early, just after opening up at 19:00, and were the first to sit down. It quickly filled up, and by 20:00 most of the outdoor tables were occupied, though inside there were fewer people. The interior is very nice, with warm lighting, music playing, and a modern but cozy atmosphere, slightly retro with some travel-themed decorations like suitcases on the ceiling and in the bathroom. The staff was friendly and attentive. The menu has many positions some of which are quite experimental. It also clearly indicated which items could be frozen, which was helpful. For starters we ordered a fried basket with seasoned potatoes and onion rings, which came with mayonnaise and ketchup. The portion was generous and the price reasonable at 5 euros. Our main pizzas arrived very quickly, before we finished the starter. We had La Crudaiola and Siciliana 2.0. The first one had a lot of ingredients, including diced tomatoes and salted ricotta, and despite that it was very stable, the ingredients weren’t falling off easily and the slices could be easily eaten with hands. Although it was a bit too salty. The Siciliana 2.0 included fish and stracciatella with a yellow tomato sauce. It was tasty, but because the pizza was thin and had so many wet ingredients, it was difficult to eat both with hands or cutlery without it falling apart. The overall taste was good, but the texture made it a bit messy. Overall the food was enjoyable, portions generous, and prices fair. We couldn’t finish it all and the waitress gave us takeout box, which is very convenient and considerate. The pizzeria is clean, well-kept, and has a pleasant, lively atmosphere. The combination of good food, nice décor, and friendly service makes it a solid choice.

I walked and walked around central Catania and finally settled on this place for a pizza marinara. I got seated outside on a cool evening, ordered my pizza, and a salad. The pizza when it came was huge, but super thin. While it was still hot, it was amazingly tasty. But, it did not stay hot for long. It was still pretty tasty even after it had cooled off though. I would say that this pizza is enough for one person, but better shared by two or more because it cools off so fast. The salad (prelibata) was red and green lettuce with avocado, heart of palm, and artichoke, with a little bit of lemon and olive oil. Some really tasty herbed bread on the side. The lettuce leaves were huge and I hd to cut them with a knife in the bowl, which was awkward. I asked for some vinegar, as it needed help. I don't recommend that salad. I had a chinotto soda with my food. This is made from a local variety of orange, which oddly enough makes the soda taste like cola. You should definitely try that while you are in Sicily.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 A very interesting interior – one of the most unique and stylish restaurant settings I’ve seen in Catania. The atmosphere inside is truly pleasant and memorable. The gourmet pizza was exceptionally flavorful and creative – not exactly my usual style, but it was beautifully crafted and packed with amazing ingredients, including possibly the best mini sweet pepper I’ve ever tasted. It had the flavor of a habanero but without the heat! The pizza itself is large enough to easily satisfy 2–4 people. Next time, though, I’d probably try a traditional one. A large beer for €5 isn’t exactly thrilling, especially off-season, but it’s not unusual. The Aperol Spritz looked fantastic – I didn’t check the price, though (competition on Aperol prices in Catania seems fierce, ranging anywhere from €5 to €12!). The service was attentive, and it was one of the few places in Sicily where the staff spoke perfect English. Highly recommended!

One of the best pizzas we have had in our lives. Be warned, the pizzas are huge but the base is so thin with just the right amount of toppings to balance it all out. I went for the Cardinale which I can highly recommend. We also went for the fries and onion ring starters, which was naughty but delicious. Loved the setting and decor of the restaurant, prices were fair and the service was very good.

Best pizza ever. Made with fresh local ingredients. Sauce is made fresh daily from locally grown tomatoes. Toppings were fresh and plentiful. Service was friendly and fast without being rushed. Giuseppe and Margie were friendly and our conversations with them added to the dining experience. A great find with more than fair prices.

In the heart of Catania old town you’ll find this fantastic pizza restaurant. We came in the evening and the place was crowded. great atmosphere, beautiful decoration and friendly staff. The food was delicious! For starters we try salad and mozzarella sticks, both really tasty! For main we ordered white pizza with mushrooms, olive oil and oregano spice. So delicious!

A wonderful place with reasonable prices. We arrived at 7 p.m., and within 10 minutes, most of the tables were already occupied. The pizza for one person is simply huge! Very juicy, fresh ingredients, delicious sauces. I will definitely come back again! The staff spoke English and were very polite.

I got this place recommended as the Pizza in town. The Pizza is really good whereby the artichokes have a slight taste of canned food and I would not necessaraly put wiener wurstel on the pizza. The people working there are extraordinary kind, the service is very good. It looks good in and outside, whereby the plastic chairs outside easily bump into another and with that into other guests, so the concept is generally good with little space for improvement. The prices are appropriate. I definitely do not regret going there!

This pizzeria is truly as delicious as the rating suggests. Prices are cheap (8–9 euros), tomato sauce is fresh, and mozzarella is traditional. They add additional toppings if you ask them too. The desert was extravagant. Definitely recommend!!

Good food, but that's it. Terrible service! We had to wait 10-15 minutes (which is perfectly fine) for a table because most of the restaurant was reserved for a big group. The waiting soon turned into 30 minutes, after which we got a table in the room of the big group. We were told we could move to a more quiet section of the restaurant as soon as a table became available. Soon tables in the quiet part came available but were given to other customers. When we left we got a small excuse and offer of free coffee. In my opinion you should treat customers with more respect. I definately won't come back, avoid this place!

I had pasta with pistachio pesto and bacon and my girlfriend pizza funghi, both was decent/good. The young waiter was nice and friendly but the young waitress was very bored and snoozed in her hand right before opening our bottles with the same. Best part was in the end, we had some leftovers from the pizza and she asked "takeaway?", then went in with the pizza and came back without, telling us in her mother toung that we can not take away for some reason without excuse. 1 minute later she gave a pizza box to the table next to us after they asked for takeaway. I feel like at least the tiny espresso (served in a disposable plastic cup) could have been for free after this.

Since coming to Sicily, my family and I had been looking for a place with that real “wow factor,” and we finally found it at Osterio Giovanni & Barone. The food was amazing — plenty of classic Sicilian seafood dishes, but also great traditional Italian options for the non-seafood eaters in my family. They were super accommodating, and the pizza was hands down the best we’ve had in Sicily so far. Prices were really fair too. The outdoor seating had such a nice vibe, and seeing lots of locals eating there made it feel even more authentic. Giovanni himself served us, and he couldn’t have been kinder or more patient with our not-so-great Italian. Highly recommend this spot!

Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Interior is fresh, clean, contemporary decor yet still revealing it's ancient past with sections of the walls purposely left open to the old, original stone walls. All of this is exceeded by the warmth and personal attention that each guest is given by the owner and his staff. We've been to so many nice restaurants over the years. Some very good ones too...this is by far the was the kindest staff we have ever encountered. We laughed and learned and just enjoyed such a wonderful evening. They are such a good spirited group! The food is very, very good. And the chef takes pride in preparing what ever that can to make you happy. Off menu seemed hardly an issue. Each night has offerings tied to the fresh catch of the day, as well as the traditional Sicilian standbys. Nine days in Sicily we found all the places we dined to be warm and friendly. None more than Osteria Can Caus. Make reservations on line. The place fills up for a reason!

Very nice service and delicious fish based food. We had “polpo e patate” and “sarde” as antipasto, with swordfish and tuna for main… very fresh and perfectly cooked. Excellent quality/price ratio. A culinary experience to make if you are in Bagheria.

The very best pizza ever! We only stayed in Agrifento one night and I'm so happy we went here instead of some resteraunt. Not only was it's standard of food exceptional but the prices were as low as they go too. Worth the walk downhill for this place, it doesn't assume much inside but it makes up for everything with the experience you get. Bravo!

In a rainy lazy morning we were looking where to have some comforting food. We were about to go somewhere else and by mistake we came aceros this place - lucky us!! The very pleasant gentleman with the charming smile was very inviting since we’ve opened the door of this small and cozy establishment. He gave us coupe of recommendations and made us feel like we are visiting a family relative who is about to serve us his home comforting meal. The place got full in a few mins and there was a long line of people who were trying to find where to sit. The smily gentleman was giving everyone the feeling they’ll soon be able to enjoy a warm meal of good meats. Everything was delicious and the bombetes were better than most of the ones we had in puglia. Low prices for a generous tasty meal. Do not skip this place when you feel like low key easy going meal!!

We walked here from Ortigia , about 20-25 minutes , and it was absolutely worth it. Food heaven is waiting here for you . Various meat skewers, meatballs and fillets all prepared by the food gods. This is as good as it gets and all 4 of us ( 2 Americans and 2 Brits ) agreed . Top of the league and we were expecting a bill of around €100 , it was €46 for all 4 of us with wine and beer . I was on my way between the botanical garden and the old palace looking for something quick to eat. I saw quite a few people at this place and decided to try it. I order something that looked like a roast beef sandwich. I was sure it was not but Google translate couldn't tell me what it was. I went with it and had the version with cheese. I loved it. It was a bit like roast beef with some crunchy cartilage type bits. I found out later it was spleen. No regrets. Best €2.50 sandwich ever, hands down. And had an ice cold beer with it for 1.50. in 2024 high tourist season, I didn't expect to stumble upon a gem quite like this.

It's a great street food place really close to the coast (where you can have a little picnic if they don't have any free tables left). There was a line that they tried to control with a ticket system, but that could be improved a bit. Around 25 orders took more or less 35 minutes to complete. Their selection is fine, a couple types of arancines (unfortunately they were out of pistachio), different sandwiches and some other dishes. My favourites were the panini porchetta (that they completed with stayed onions) and the pane ca meausa. For 3 arancines and 3 sandwiches the EUR 12 I paid is completely reasonable.

I visited this restaurant on my holiday with friends. I can say that it was one of the best places to eat lunch or diner with friends. The restaurant staff was friendly and helpful if you don’t understand menu. The food was verry tasty and served nicely. If you are going on holiday and want to stay over the night they have apartments above the restaurant where you can stay and rest;) I recommend this places for everyone.

The hosts/owners have made their agritourismo one of the nicest places to stay while visiting Sicily. The rooms included full kitchen, sofa bed, queen bed and bathroom. Attention to detail and furniture were excellent. Perched in the mountains of Palermo, the location is close to many interesting spots and to the airport. In their full restaurant, the chefs made a fabulous dinner one could only imagine treating us to some of the local styles and flavors. I highly recommend this location for anyone that would like a great experience away from the city! Jeff and Laurie Note, the street view is prior to their complete remodeling!!

Service was lightning fast, and all pizza's we ordered were delicious, fresh, and full of flavor (please try the pizza norma). What truly stood out was the kindness of the staff: when our daughter felt cold, they offered her a branded T-shirt to keep warm. Such a thoughtful gesture that we’ll never forget. Highly recommended for both the food and the hospitality!

Decent food, mostly frozen deep fried things. Fills the belly and the price is ok, for the food you're getting. The view from the terrace is quite nice. Cleaning on the terrace could be better though.

Good burgers with panini breads. The tables inside have QR codes so that you can check the menu and order online without waiting for someone to help. I also liked that the burgers offered customisation options such as with or without cheese, which was friendly to people with diary restrictions.

Lovely little spot to stop to grab a bite to eat once you arrive by train, you can scan QR code on table & order will come out (don't panic if the price goes up in your basket as everyone sitting at table orders to the same basket lol), staff were lovely and friendly & food was really nice - we ordered salads & bacon cheese fries - highly recommend

First of all the service is great here. I got myself a vegetarian menu with a huge sandwich, fries and a drink for under 10€. They have a big variety to choose from, it's fresh and delicious.
