Pasticceria Cappello is a renowned pastry shop located in the historic city center of Palermo. Originally opened as a dairy in the 1940s, it has evolved into a famous pastry shop known for its delectable creations.
This place was very busy on Christmas and for a reason, I saw so many beautiful pastry platters arranged in front of my eyes each more enticing than the other. Draw a number at the entrance and wait for your turn, order, pay at the cashier and pick up your carefully packed sweets. Sfogliata with ricotta was my favourite, super crispy layers and balanced ricotta cream. The pistachio petit fours was also amazing. House chocolate bars with pistachio and other nuts or dried fruit also available at the cashier desk.

Delicious pastries! The tiny gelato sandwich and delizia pistachio cake were so tasty. And the cannolicchio was perfect! Great coffee too.
Julia W — Google review
After trying many cannolis in Palermo, I can confidently say this was by far the best. In addition to their amazing cannolis, we sampled a variety of mignons and an iris — and everything was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was wonderful too, filled with local workers grabbing a quick bite and kids returning from school, which made it feel genuinely authentic. The host was incredibly warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. We had food elsewhere in Palermo that was half as good for twice the price. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone visiting — I honestly wish I could eat here every day.
Lovrog0 — Google review
While the cakes themselves were nice, the man who served us was rude. Obnoxious clearly into his phone more than serving us and being somewhat stuck up with my friend's best attempt to speak Italian seemingly consistently misunderstanding which cake she wanted, one or two pieces of. He then proceeded to play with his phone as he was half wrapping our package and generally seemed just annoyed at our existence. The taste of cakes was definitely not worth the attitude that we were given in this place
S L — Google review
Great place for a coffee and something to nibble. Amazing croissants with pistachios and the best arancini in the city. I highly recommend arancini with carne (beef).
Zofia L — Google review
Pasticceria Cappello is truly the best sweet shop in Palermo. The quality of their baked goods is outstanding, and I absolutely love it. Every time I stay in Palermo, this place makes me fall in love with the city even more. I ended up going there every day to enjoy their delicious cakes and pastries. Highly recommended!

Local cafe/pastry shop. Came here to check if it’s actually the best cannoli in Palermo. Maybe in Palermo it may be the best but i’ve had better. Everyone may like their cannolis in many ways. Their cannoli was different. Did taste authentic. Coffee was good. Service was good, staff were friendly. The best part is this shop is local so the prices are not that expensive. 1 cannoli & a coffee for 2.5 euro! They have alot of variety I would visit again! Highly recommend.

Hidden gem. Perfect canolo and other sweets. For those with a sweet tooth , it's compulsory to visit I really had no time to take photos as the experience to grab the lady to order was a qonquest on its own. They really have lots of costumers but it's worth

"I Segreti del Chiostro" is a hidden gem located within the Chiesa di Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, paying homage to the age-old tradition of crafting pastries in convents. The shop offers an array of traditional Sicilian treats such as cassata, cannoli filled with fresh ricotta cream, almond and pistachio cookies, and intricately hand-painted marzipan fruits.
It was an experience that I definitely can’t forget during our vacation in Palermo. It is very difficult to easily find here for someone who doesn’t hear. You enter through the door of a monastery, the attendants guide you and then you find the place you want to reach thanks to the smell of the bakery. I ate the most beautiful cannoli I’ve ever tasted in a perfect courtyard. I don’t want to talk too much so that the beauty of this place is not spoiled, but on the other hand, I want everyone to experience it 🥹Definitely recommended. PS: It is very possible that there is a queue.
Ş T — Google review
After seeing this place online we had to give it a try and I wasn’t disappointed! This cannoli is the BEST one I ever had that now I don’t want cannoli’s around where I live anymore lol. The line was about 15-20 min wait and like many say, you can share one because it’s so big. No place to really sit and eat at the garden because there’s lots of people doing the same thing. The system of lines is controlled and appreciated.
Krammer A — Google review
We joined the very long line at the famous I Segreti del Chiostro while in Palermo. This shop inside the Santa Caterina Monastery prepares pastries using ancient recipes passed down from the nuns. I tried the pistachio cannoli — crisp shell, creamy filling, and perfectly balanced sweetness, though for me it was massive (honestly, too big!). Staff were friendly and patient despite the line. Overall, a must-stop if you love authentic Sicilian pastries from an iconic institution. Saluti
Frank F — Google review
Probably was once only a local place, thanks to online reviews much busier. Waited almost 20 mins to order but it was worth it! Cannolo was HUGE and gratefully shared. I had to try the minne di virgini - very different with chocolate pieces inside and cloves and cinnamon flavors in a marzipan-like filling. We visited the church first and had a chance to see the monastery and climb to the rooftop, but this is not required to get to the dolceria.
Jessica R — Google review
Once you arrive at the entrance it’s a short walk up stairs and down the hallway. There was a line, it took 10-ish minutes and then you’re inside with your number. Once your number is called you quickly place your cannoli order and desserts. The process was too overwhelming for me personally but I think it’s a great place to try many Sicilian desserts for a fair price. The cannoli was too sweet for me, it’s also huge so I recommend splitting it between 2 people. The marzipan was really nice! The fountain area where one can sit was crowded. Overall a nice experience but one could also skip it if they’ve tried Sicilian desserts before
Nia M — Google review
If you want to eat at the “birthplace” of the cannoli, this is the place to come. Tasty desert, including cannoli’s and a lot of varieties of desserts. We went in off-season (middle of October) and there was a bit of queuing, but not terrible, 15-20 minutes of waiting. Queues are organized and it moves pretty fast. Also there is an interior garden to sit and enjoy the desert
Sanyes — Google review
Very unique location and ambiance. The cannolis here are big and well done but the filling is a little on the sweet side and not as delicate and creamy ricotta as those we had at top places in Catania. To us the Catania style was superior.
Michael S — Google review
Lovely cannolis. We grabbed one with pistachios and ate it in the small courtyard within the church. We waited in a line for around 5 minutes before a man at the door gave us a ticket with a number which the ladies call when it's your time to order. A very efficient system but make sure you know what you want to order quickly! €4 for the cannoli. You could definitely share with a friend! Would return.

Antico Caffè Spinnato is a renowned landmark cafe located on a charming pedestrian street, offering an elegant terrace for visitors to enjoy. This historic establishment is celebrated for its exceptional espresso and traditional cannoli pastries. It has been recognized with prestigious awards, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike.
Saw this on google recommendations, Had a lovely breakfast here which a variety of sweet and savoury here. Returned for evening drinks, which was joined with amazing treats. One being some sort of strawberry cream tart, best I have ever tasted. Also the service was quick, polite and very friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing cause of its location down a cozy walkway, full of orange trees. Don’t miss this place.

Loved the place. The atmosphere is amazing. I ordered desserts and some cookies to go. It was nice. During Christmas holidays it was quite busy and the staff was handling it with a nice smile on their face. You can stay there and enjoy ur time while eating some amazing dessert and drinks.
Enoop M — Google review
The panini and coffee were good, and the waiter was friendly and attentive despite a language barrier. Some details could be improved, such as cleaner cutlery and serving water in a proper glass instead of a plastic cup. Overall, a relaxed café that feels more like 3.5 stars, but I’ll round it up to 4

Spinnato dal 1860, an old-school cafe in Palermo on a beautiful tree-lined pedestrian street, is the perfect place for an afternoon drink, a snack, or an aperitivo before dinner. - as well as great people watching! They also have a more modern cafe on the Piazza Castelnuovo, right across the street from the Politeama Theatre.

Great quality and delicious treats, quick and excellent service, affordable prices. A lovely cafe located in a beautiful area. Would definitely recommend this place!
Drosia A — Google review
The arancini’s were okay, the coffee was good, the devils food cake was dry and too sweet. The waiter was a bit rude, got our order wrong and still tried to charge us for the extra thing we didn’t order. I wouldn’t recommend, nor would I return.
Graciela S — Google review
This cafe has been in operation since 1860. Inside, you have a candy store, full cakes, pastries, ice creams, and dessert sections. Outside, there is a large covered patio. We were served by different servers, which caused a long delay when asking for the bill. Coffee was OK and the desserts freshly made and a bit too sweet.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Palermo, the Chiesa di Santa Caterina d'Alessandria stands as a testament to the city's rich history and artistic heritage. This grand Catholic church boasts an ornate facade that greets visitors at Piazza Bellini, while its lateral side offers stunning views of the impressive Fontana Pretoria. The church's design showcases a blend of Renaissance, Baroque, and late-Baroque (Rococo) elements, reflecting centuries of architectural evolution.
The monastery of Santa Caterina is the perfect option to start your day in palermo. There is garden with free access where you will find the bakery with the famous canoli and other local sweets. Apart from the garden you can get in the church, which I totally recommend and also go to the top of the church for the beautiful panoramic view of the city.
Τάκης Χ — Google review
For me the view from the roof was great. The stewards in the church and monastery were helpful and polite. I wish I could say the same about the ladies serving behind the counter at the bakery. Perhaps it’s too busy. Other than the physical location at the monastery I found the bakery touristic. To buy pastries I would personally recommend to try and find a more genuine bakery. The small garden in the courtyard is lovely, though.
Shelley B — Google review
Small church (undergoing restoration s of September 2025) but still worth the visit. We bought the more expensive ticket (10€) to go to the church, monastery and on to the roof. This was worth it for the city views as we couldn’t access the main cathedral roof due to a Sunday service was ongoing. The bakery has many sweet treats and they are big and tasty. Of course you pay for the cannoli by weight so the big ones cost more!
Simon R — Google review
We visited the Church and Monastery of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria in the heart of Palermo. It was truly a revelation. From the outside, it looks almost unassuming, but step inside and you’re greeted by an extraordinary Baroque interior overflowing with stucco, marble, and gilded ornamentation. The sheer level of detail is breathtaking. It’s one of those places where your eyes don’t know where to rest first. The adjoining monastery offers a quieter, more reflective experience. It’s easy to imagine the cloistered life the nuns once lived here, moving between the peaceful courtyards and the elegant corridors. One of the highlights is climbing up to the terrace, which offers a panoramic view of Palermo. A host of rooftops, domes, and the mountains beyond. It’s one of the best viewpoints in the city. This visit was one of our favorites in Palermo — a blend of art, history, and tranquility in the middle of the city’s vibrant chaos. Take time to explore both the church and the monastery. The terrace view and the pastries alone are worth the modest entry fee.
Mark M — Google review
Currently under construction, both from the inside and outside. Therefore you don't get to see it's entire beauty for 3€. If you buy the ticket for 8€ you can also visit the monastery. The garden inside is really beautiful!
Andi — Google review
so beautiful place 🤍 we took tickets to see Church, Monastery and rooftop, really beautiful and peaceful place. Good to see, and very tasty patisserie cafeteria inside after the tour 😜
Jenny L — Google review
Incredible church! Very unique!! The marble inlays are incredible. Also, there was a pass-through turnstile for the nuns to provide things into the church.
Michael P — Google review
Great baroque church with 3€ entrance per person. It's still accessible except the altar area, which is covered with a high green fence. All of the paintings and decorations are available together with the fake remains of the Saint.

The venue now includes a pastry and dining space, serving high-quality Arabica coffee in various forms, from iced to granita and affogato. Breakfast options range from classic brioche to iris pastries with ricotta cream and chocolate flakes, as well as savory croissants and other Sicilian delicacies.
Lovely little spot in the heart of Palermo! I ordered a green coffee and sat on the terrace—everything was tasty and the atmosphere was great. I also asked for a glass of water and they gave it to me for free, which was a nice touch. Highly recommended!

This is a lovely cafe located right next to the church of La Martorana. There are several outdoor tables surrounded by shrubs with each table having a real plant which is nice. We popped in for a light breakfast of a croissant and Danish style pastry. It has an extremely varied menu of coffees of which I chose Pistachio which was fantastic. 😋 There is also some choices of teas too. There is, of course, a large selection of food to accompany the coffees, though not all were available on our visit. Service is fine.

Great for a hearty protein filled breakfast with for somebody who has gluten free requests. My breakfast was salmon , eggs, veggies and cheese and was a perfect day to start a busy day of biking and walking. Many other places only have pastries so I was happy to find this place! And they open early.

I recently visited a charming café in Palermo, and I must say it was a delightful experience . The coffee was absolutely excellent, rich and perfectly brewed . I tried the pistachio-filled croissant, which was simply wonderful, and the iris with ricotta was equally delicious . The café itself is very beautiful , offering plenty of seating and a cozy , inviting atmosphere . Its location is also very convenient, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a treat . Highly recommended for anyone visiting Palermo !

Considering this is 200m away from one of the busiest streets in Palermo, this spot it SO quiet. We stayed in a small apartment around the corner and this became our regular coffee/croissant spot. I can HIGHLY recommend the coffee and pistachio croissants - and if you’re lucky you may bag a table in the street under the lemon trees 🍋

We stumbled upon Vabres in Palermo and ended up going every single day of our trip—it was that good. The pastries are all made fresh in-house and are absolutely delicious. The coffee? Smooth, strong, and consistently great. The staff were so kind and accommodating to our order each morning, making the whole experience even better. Warm, welcoming vibe, incredible service, and genuinely the best breakfast we had in Sicily. Highly recommend if you’re in Palermo! ☕🥐

This place was recommended by our apartment hosts, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. It’s clearly very popular and busy at all times of day. Very small inside but there are a few tables outside. I was delighted to see a good selection of non-dairy milks, including Oatly, which made the coffees fantastic. The pastries were absolutely top-notch – the croissants wouldn’t be out of place in a Paris patisserie. The flaky ricotta "croissant" was fantastic, and the donut freshly filled with cream for us was a real treat. A wonderful spot, very much recommended!

These were easily the best arancini we had during our entire Sicily trip! 👌❤️ Loved the vibes here, it was busy both times we came, but we still managed to get a table. It seems to be a favourite among locals. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful when it came to choosing what to order. The coffee was great, and the arancini are made fresh to order. The aubergine one was our fav! Highly recommend visiting!

I went with my friend to the one in the city center and the staff was really unfriendly and even rude. What is even worse, although they have seats and proper cafe place, they serve coffee in plastics cups.

Based on our tour guide you can get the best traditional water melon gel here. Either in the form of a cake, or in a cup. The taste is not too sweet with a strong water melon flavour. The cup was better than the cake.

We came back three times for the granita brioche plus the cannolis, try everything and enjoy! Coffee is not bad either. Might be a line, but it’s worth the wait to sit outside and watch the baroque Quattro canti and the mountains in the far distance.

The one thing that I missed in Sicily was a proper bakery and I’m glad I finally got to visit one in Palermo! We had a maritozzo, a corner to with pistachio cream and a sort of bun (tasted like a french chouquette) filled with cream and strawberries. All three pastries were excellent, if you go to Palermo please visit this place you will not regret it.

I had an exceptional experience at Pasticceria Costa! Their pastries are the best I've ever tasted, each one a delightful treat. The cappuccino was delicious, perfectly brewed and rich in flavor. Bar Pasticceria Alba is a beloved local spot in Palermo, offering a mix of traditional and innovative treats. Established in 1955, it's a popular hangout for locals to grab food on the go or enjoy breakfast and brunch. The menu features authentic rice balls known as arancini, along with an array of pastries, gelato, and freshly made rotisserie items.
Very nice location. We have been here for breakfast 6 times in a row and enjoyed it. Food is very good and the waitresses were kind and served us quickly. Especially on weekdays it is a very lively spot where school kids are picking up their breakfast 😎

Yum! We ate here twice in three days it was so good. Staff was very kind and helpful with us ordering despite our language deficiency. We tried two kinds of arancini, one with meat and one with prosciutto and cheese. We also had gelato, which was probably the best I have ever had. The quality of the food is good, and the variety ensures something for everyone. Everything from savory entrees to street food to sweets to fancy cakes. Nice drinks as well. Both dine in and take away available. The staff was very helpful with food allergies.

We visited on a Saturday morning and, despite the café not being busy, the service was slow and disorganized. We waited nearly 20 minutes for a cold cappuccino and had to change our pastry order due to limited availability. The food, especially the pistachio croissant, was good, but in general the portions of food were small given the price. Most disappointing of all was the staff: they were inattentive, unprofessional, and at times rude. While the location is new and the space comfortable, the overall experience left much to be desired. Not recommended.

We had a most enjoyable lunch on Saturday 16 December. Our Travel tour guide grew up in this area of Palermo and was familiar with this restaurant. We had 2 Aranchinis, one with meat and ragu. The other with mushrooms. Both were Delicious! Also had Pasta e fagioli and salmon pasta. Serving sizes were enormous! Their pastries were yummy! All of the staff were very nice! Wish we could dine here all the time.

Pasticceria Scimone is a local pastry shop known for its delicious cassata, which comes highly recommended by many visitors. The cassata is described as very sweet but incredibly fresh and enjoyable. In addition to the famous cassata, the shop offers a variety of other interesting cakes. Some customers have also praised the nougat basket with strawberries and Apostle's fingers, highlighting the diverse range of options available.
Owned and managed by a small team, we tried the amaretti and the donut ( bambaloni ) and it was the best ever we ended up taking 3 boxes to take away on the plane. The place is authentic and the quality of the products is amazing.

Loved my four cheese arancini so much I went back and bought a second one (as well as a delicious donut). The ice cream flavours and desserts looked spectacular as did all the pasta lunch options but unfortunately I didn’t enjoy my pasta selection at all. If it wasn’t so busy it may have been easier to try translating with staff to ensure I ordered what I actually wanted

(Translated by Google) A neighborhood café that we thought would still be good for breakfast. However, the quality of the food we consumed wasn't great. The cappuccinos were very watery, with a light cream only on the surface. Even the donuts lacked the softness and lack of grease that characterizes Palermo's pastries. I hope it was a glitch. (Original) Bar di quartiere che ritenevamo potesse essere comunque valido per una prima colazione. Viceversa la qualità di quanto consumato non era ottimale. This little spot surprised me, I was ready to overpay and eat poorly for the view which is incredible and would be worth it but here the prices are not so high and the food is good! I enjoyed the cornetto and cappuccino both great with freshly squeezed orange juice it made a wonderful breakfast with a glorious view. The canoli and bread with chocolate chips tasted so good! The creme in canoli was so fresh with citron or orange based scent. Although the bar was quite busy in the morning, it seemed like it was connected to some accomodation nearby, so groups of people visited which led to queues.

Coming from NYC where pizza is a staple, I had very high expectations to eat a square when in Sicily and WOW 🤯. This is THE BEST PIZZA I have had in my LIFE! we were staying at a piazza a hour walk away and it was worthy of every step to get there. We ordered two squares and I ate mine so fast I went back in to get another. Unfortunately I didn’t get to eat anything else but the service was friendly fast and respectful. Fantastic place to go ... friendly and great Sicilian food 👍 served. Let's don't forget the ice cream 🍨 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Salvatore ( — Google review
I've been going to the Cubana for years. I have to admit that I noticed that the quality of their food offerings has diminished notably during my last visit in July. The staff is still helpful and friendly. It is still a top end modern café with pastries, gelato and typical Sicilian food plus bakery goods. The bakery goods were still excellent but everything else: food to pastries were disappointing. Perhaps the heat has had effect on the food preparation. We are talking 35 + degrees Celsius . It still an oasis you can escape to during the summer months .
Rosalia C — Google review
La Cubana used to the the absolute best place to get cakes and ice cream in Palermo, but it seems to have fallen from grace. (I've been coming to Palermo for over 2 decades) We bought a mango, lemon and some other flavour sourbet Ice cream cake and also a chocolate one. Neither was special, the chocolate one tasted like they had run out of chocolate powder, and the fruity one just tasted like a Solero! Both cakes were 25 euros each. I'm a huge mango lover, Pakistani, South American, and even Indian ocean ones... But this just tasted like cheap mango juice! Maybe they should go and check out the competition, and blind taste test thier offerings vs everyone elses.. They might realise that they are no longer the best. Service is good when you have someone serving you, but if not, the two special cashiers dont jump to help, I guess they think they are above that...

We went there being incredibly hungry in the area on a Sunday and there was absolutely nothing else nearby. It's not necessarily a restaurant, more like a buffet so don't expect it being homely or having an outstanding level of taste bit it was still great for two very hungry people who just wanted to eat! The dessert section also looked decadent but we got filled up on the mains and couldn't fit anything else.

We've been to Sciampagna for more than 5 times, their macarons are divine (see photo below). I really think that they are great masters of pastry art. The place is absolutely worth visiting. As for their products, we can really not complain. However, the place is unreliable: in the last 6 months we found it closed twice (once we found out that they were on holidays, which they definitely deserved, but the other day-off was without any justification). The staff is nice, a bit reserved, but this kind of Western style is still ok. Their products are definitely expensive, but they guarantee a nice, clean space. I find the shop often empty, glass shelves are echoing without any displayed product, which is a pity and we don't really like the dine-in space upstairs. Nonetheless, if you like sophisticated well-designed and very French-styled cafés, Sciampagna will do for you.

This charming pastry shop beautifully marries traditional recipes with modern twists, making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Sicilian treats. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a morning espresso paired with their exquisite cornetto or indulging in one of their signature cakes.
About as typical a pasticceria that you will find in Palermo. A great place to stop in for a morning coffee (espresso) and cornetto - which is often a croissant.

I bought two arancine with Spinach and without meat and I found pieces of "prosciutto" inside. I thought it was a mistake but then the second one contained prosciutto as well. Risky for people who are allergic.

My absolute favourite place to start Sundays: I’m fond of the elderly couple who runs this pastry shop, the gentleman insists on preparing Palermo’s typical Halloween sweet (frutta Martorana) with his own hand (real art pieces) and his wife always has a nice word for us. But I also find their employees excellent: professional, kind and attentive. You can even see their kitchen on a TV screen in real life, so you can watch how their master bakers work. Unique place.

Nestled in the charming alleys of Ballaro market, Pasticceria Porta Sant'Agata di Trentacoste Cristian is a delightful gem that showcases the best of Sicilian pastry. While these delectable ricotta-filled treats, known as minne di Sant'Agata, are traditionally linked to the Feast of Saint Agatha in February, they can be enjoyed year-round.
We discovered this pastry shop by accident. The cakes and biscuits looked delicious, we went in and the young man that served us was very helpful and took time to explain the ingredients to us in English. We bought quite a lot, they were superb. The prices were a honest price, not the inflated prices you see on the main shopping street. We are going back tomorrow to buy a few gifts. I can only recommend this shop and that you try it for yourself.

Favourite place in Palermo to go for sweet treat and food! So much care put into the food and you can not beat the price. Really good location and lovely staff. Must go.

AMAZING gelato! I chose this place randomly when I was craving some ice cream, and I kept visiting it till the end of my trip to Palermo. Pistachio gelato is the best and no one can convince me otherwise, but nocciola (hazelnut) was also top notch. I would also recommend trying gelato in a brioche for a true Sicilian experience 🍨 The brioche itself was soft and delicious as well! 1 portion of gelato in copetta (cup) 1,80€ Gelato in brioche 2€ 100% recommend ❤️

While the easter Eake was acceptable, the pistachio Easter egg was disgusting. It tasted artificial and powdery, with absolutely no discernible chocolate or pistachio.

I live in Palermo, this place is so good I brought cannoli all the way to Poland for friends to try. They said it was the best cannoli they've ever had.
Carmelo B — Google review
Absolutely fantastic little pastry shop. It was not the easiest to find, and i almost gave up. Google maps walking navigation is not the best. But once the hard work of finding the place was over, yowza! Superlative fresh artisanal pastry at supermarket prices. It's at least half the price of the touristy stuff on Via Maqueda. The platter in my picture cost €5 for 10 pieces. A great way to try a whole bunch of uniquely sicilian recipes. Would return in a heartbeat! Note: i didn't see cannoli on offer, but my Italian is weak so i didn't ask.

Ideal Caffè Stagnitta, a historic café in Palermo, has been serving customers for over a century. Originally situated in Piazza Venezia, it relocated to its current spot on Discesa dei Giudici in 1931. This charming café is renowned for offering the perfect setting to enjoy a traditional Sicilian breakfast and continues to be a beloved establishment with over 100 years of history.
I’m a coffee enthusiast. I had a very good SOE (Single Origin Espresso) at the coffee shop. Then I went to the neighboring coffee bean roasting shop to buy a similar bean and tried hand-pouring it at home. It turned out to be one of the best coffees I’ve ever had, but I couldn’t find the same bean listed on the coffee shop’s website.

I can only say the best about this place. Coffee in Sicily is always great, but this one was exceptionally good. The cannolo filled with fresh ricotta and the lemon granita were out of this world, absolutely delicious 🤤. If I were in Palermo again, I’d gladly wait in the queue for this experience.

(Translated by Google) I ordered a one kilo cassata from this bakery in Palermo during a school trip, after the driver of our bus had given the bakery a lot of publicity. Unfortunately, the reality was very different from expectations. The sour ricotta, rather than the fresh and delicate one I was expecting, was far too strong and unpleasant. But the worst thing is that the cassata wasn't even fresh: it was evident that it had been prepared at least a couple of days before. The pasta was dry and not very tasty, and the candied fruit seemed almost spoiled. A total lack of care in preparation. Despite the promises made by the driver, this experience was a huge disappointment.

Clearly among the desserts you won't find the very modern mice and jellies but the traditional mignon pastries, cascades, cream puffs, cream and fruit baskets and cannoli. The desserts with cream and cream are very good, those with ricotta are a little less so (perhaps because this is not the best time to choose it). I'm sure we'll be back often. (Translated by Google) Nothing to complain about the quality of what they sell; in fact, occasionally I stop on my way home from work to buy some rotisserie to eat during my lunch break. The lively and smiling counter clerk is countered by the cashier, probably the owner's daughter, sullen, shady and grumpy. The 70s-style place has never been renovated in terms of furnishings and today I had confirmation that even the "entrepreneurial" mentality of the young woman has remained stuck in that period which can be summed up as: I'm the owner, here we do what I say and I don't give a damn about customer satisfaction! Not even if all the customers asked her to write down their purchases in the "booklet" and had to thank her for giving them credit! Today I witnessed the most insane thing an entrepreneur can do: pursuing customer dissatisfaction. Here are the facts: an elderly lady who was ahead of me, buys 10 sandwiches that the counter clerk packages by putting them in a single large paper bag. The old lady asks the cashier if she can kindly give her three more bags to later divide the sandwiches into more packages, I imagine destined to be filled and eaten by her grandchildren at the beach, the cashier asks the cashier if she could give them to her and this shining example of customer orientation answers no. I wondered if this answer was linked to the cost of the three bags. What if the old lady customer had asked to have the 10 sandwiches packaged in groups of 2 (5 bags) or even individually (10 bags)? When it was time to pay, I took the liberty of pointing out the management error and her reaction was one of treason, revealing herself, even if she thinks she is an entrepreneur for what she is in reality, as a sad "putiara". Too bad! The rotisserie was passable, but there is no kindness that holds if you are not welcomed with a smile and you are not always shown that as a customer you are important. If you can't attract and keep them, customers will disappear one by one until suddenly you realize you have none left.

Le Angeliche is a charming bakery with a delightful selection of treats. We’re usually not big on sweets, but their chocolate chip cookie won us over. Of all the bakeries I tried in my week in Palermo, this was by far my favourite - especially the pan d'arancio with its ribbons of orange peel. The flavours of ingredients shine through as very little sugar is used, and the textures are so delicate. They follow traditional recipes with no artificial ingredients, and use recycled paper instead of single use plastic. Staff are warm, friendly, and happy to explain the ingredients and regional context of their products. Sitting out in the market for breakfast provides an incredible atmosphere. I came back on my last day to savour the pan d'arancio again and bought packaged goodies for souvenirs - they also have ornaments, tote bags, and beautiful prints. Can't wait to return someday

Forno Storico Pietro Marino is located in the bustling Mercato di Ballaro, a vibrant daily market offering an array of Sicilian produce and street food. This historical bakery is renowned for its delectable sfincione and arancina. The friendly staff and great prices make it a must-visit spot within the market. Additionally, nearby Barconi offers delicious gelato while also supporting migrants and refugees. Visitors can also indulge in mouthwatering calzones at this lively marketplace.
Best Place at the Market, not a tourist trap. Good special food, nice staff.

Family bakery, nice service, exactly next to the street food market of Ballaró. Take away food/meals and some nice panini options. The pasta bolognese were very delicious, sausage with potatoes in the oven were ok, the little panini with mozzarella and salsa were soft and tasty. With 5€ per person you can eat decently, good value for money!

Bar Pasticceria La Preferita Gelateria is a charming local spot that offers a delightful mix of an ice cream parlor and a cafe. It's known for serving traditional Sicilian desserts, rotisserie products, and delicious pasta. Visitors rave about the cream puff filled with coffee cream and the delectable chocolate cake. The venue is popular among locals for its great coffee, lovely cakes, and friendly staff.
Delicious rice balls with meat and peas as well as excellent coffee along with reasonable prices and friendly service. What more could one ask for?! At lunch they have a simple but virtually like home cooked menu starting at noon till 15:00, but it goes fast and when the food runs out, it's over.

The choux pastry was light and perfectly golden, with a soft yet resistant texture. The coffee filling was simply sublime: creamy, velvety and with an impeccable balance between the sweetness and aromatic intensity of the coffee. The delicately sweetened icing on top added that final touch that makes everything irresistible. It is the ideal dessert for those who love coffee and want to pamper themselves with something refined but at the same time familiar. A pastry masterpiece! I can't wait to come back to order more. Highly recommended! (Original) Ho avuto il piacere di assaggiare il sciù al caffè e posso dire che è stato un vero viaggio sensoriale! La glassa sopra, delicatamente zuccherata, aggiungeva quel tocco finale che rende il tutto irresistibile. Pasticceria Costa is a charming, family-run bake shop known for its gourmet cakes, mousses, and traditional pastries like cannoli. A stone's throw from Panificio Graziano, so perfect for dessert. Everything is delicious, so take what your heart tells you. I had the opportunity to go there the day after celebrating Saint Lucia's Day, so I got myself a special, exceptional dessert: cuccìa. NOTE: they also have a branch in the city center, but we didn't have a positive experience there: coffee served in a plastic cup, and the service was unpleasant.

The freshness of the ingredients was obvious, and the texture was perfect—light, fluffy, and moist, with a beautiful, even crumb. The lemon and almond flavors were bright and balanced, not too sweet. A truly special cake!".

Cafè Latino di Vincenzo Stira is a charming snack stop located near Quattro Canti, offering a variety of treats to accompany a break from sightseeing. The menu includes panini, house-made pastries and biscuits, ice cream, and quality coffee. Guests can choose to sit at cozy interior tables or outside on the pavement. Been to this cafe many times over multiple trips to Sicily in past 3 years. Consistently great coffee and food in a nice classic setting (spacious indoor table seating and street tables if that's your thing) Each time it's been the same friendly and helpful staff waiting tables and behind the counter - always happy to accept our poor attempts to speak Italian (and break into English for clarifications.)
