Delicious pastries! The tiny gelato sandwich and delizia pistachio cake were so tasty. And the cannolicchio was perfect! Great coffee too.

After trying many cannolis in Palermo, I can confidently say this was by far the best. In addition to their amazing cannolis, we sampled a variety of mignons and an iris — and everything was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was wonderful too, filled with local workers grabbing a quick bite and kids returning from school, which made it feel genuinely authentic. The host was incredibly warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. We had food elsewhere in Palermo that was half as good for twice the price. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone visiting — I honestly wish I could eat here every day.

While the cakes themselves were nice, the man who served us was rude. Obnoxious clearly into his phone more than serving us and being somewhat stuck up with my friend's best attempt to speak Italian seemingly consistently misunderstanding which cake she wanted, one or two pieces of. He then proceeded to play with his phone as he was half wrapping our package and generally seemed just annoyed at our existence. The taste of cakes was definitely not worth the attitude that we were given in this place

Pasticceria Cappello is truly the best sweet shop in Palermo. The quality of their baked goods is outstanding, and I absolutely love it. Every time I stay in Palermo, this place makes me fall in love with the city even more. I ended up going there every day to enjoy their delicious cakes and pastries. Highly recommended!

Local cafe/pastry shop. Came here to check if it’s actually the best cannoli in Palermo. Maybe in Palermo it may be the best but i’ve had better. Everyone may like their cannolis in many ways. Their cannoli was different. Did taste authentic. Coffee was good. Service was good, staff were friendly. The best part is this shop is local so the prices are not that expensive. 1 cannoli & a coffee for 2.5 euro! They have alot of variety I would visit again! Highly recommend.

After seeing this place online we had to give it a try and I wasn’t disappointed! This cannoli is the BEST one I ever had that now I don’t want cannoli’s around where I live anymore lol. The line was about 15-20 min wait and like many say, you can share one because it’s so big. No place to really sit and eat at the garden because there’s lots of people doing the same thing. The system of lines is controlled and appreciated.

We joined the very long line at the famous I Segreti del Chiostro while in Palermo. This shop inside the Santa Caterina Monastery prepares pastries using ancient recipes passed down from the nuns. I tried the pistachio cannoli — crisp shell, creamy filling, and perfectly balanced sweetness, though for me it was massive (honestly, too big!). Staff were friendly and patient despite the line. Probably was once only a local place, thanks to online reviews much busier. Waited almost 20 mins to order but it was worth it! Cannolo was HUGE and gratefully shared. I had to try the minne di virgini - very different with chocolate pieces inside and cloves and cinnamon flavors in a marzipan-like filling. We visited the church first and had a chance to see the monastery and climb to the rooftop, but this is not required to get to the dolceria.

Once you arrive at the entrance it’s a short walk up stairs and down the hallway. There was a line, it took 10-ish minutes and then you’re inside with your number. Once your number is called you quickly place your cannoli order and desserts. The process was too overwhelming for me personally but I think it’s a great place to try many Sicilian desserts for a fair price. The cannoli was too sweet for me, it’s also huge so I recommend splitting it between 2 people. The marzipan was really nice! The fountain area where one can sit was crowded. Overall a nice experience but one could also skip it if they’ve tried Sicilian desserts before

If you want to eat at the “birthplace” of the cannoli, this is the place to come. Tasty desert, including cannoli’s and a lot of varieties of desserts. We went in off-season (middle of October) and there was a bit of queuing, but not terrible, 15-20 minutes of waiting. Queues are organized and it moves pretty fast. Also there is an interior garden to sit and enjoy the desert

Very unique location and ambiance. The cannolis here are big and well done but the filling is a little on the sweet side and not as delicate and creamy ricotta as those we had at top places in Catania. To us the Catania style was superior.

Lovely cannolis. We grabbed one with pistachios and ate it in the small courtyard within the church. We waited in a line for around 5 minutes before a man at the door gave us a ticket with a number which the ladies call when it's your time to order. A very efficient system but make sure you know what you want to order quickly! €4 for the cannoli. You could definitely share with a friend! Would return.

Loved the place. The atmosphere is amazing. I ordered desserts and some cookies to go. It was nice. During Christmas holidays it was quite busy and the staff was handling it with a nice smile on their face. You can stay there and enjoy ur time while eating some amazing dessert and drinks.

Spinnato dal 1860, an old-school cafe in Palermo on a beautiful tree-lined pedestrian street, is the perfect place for an afternoon drink, a snack, or an aperitivo before dinner. - as well as great people watching! They also have a more modern cafe on the Piazza Castelnuovo, right across the street from the Politeama Theatre.

The arancini’s were okay, the coffee was good, the devils food cake was dry and too sweet. The waiter was a bit rude, got our order wrong and still tried to charge us for the extra thing we didn’t order. I wouldn’t recommend, nor would I return.

This cafe has been in operation since 1860. Inside, you have a candy store, full cakes, pastries, ice creams, and dessert sections. Outside, there is a large covered patio. We were served by different servers, which caused a long delay when asking for the bill. Coffee was OK and the desserts freshly made and a bit too sweet.

For me the view from the roof was great. The stewards in the church and monastery were helpful and polite. I wish I could say the same about the ladies serving behind the counter at the bakery. Perhaps it’s too busy. Other than the physical location at the monastery I found the bakery touristic. To buy pastries I would personally recommend to try and find a more genuine bakery. The small garden in the courtyard is lovely, though.

Small church (undergoing restoration s of September 2025) but still worth the visit. We bought the more expensive ticket (10€) to go to the church, monastery and on to the roof. This was worth it for the city views as we couldn’t access the main cathedral roof due to a Sunday service was ongoing. The bakery has many sweet treats and they are big and tasty. Of course you pay for the cannoli by weight so the big ones cost more!

We visited the Church and Monastery of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria in the heart of Palermo. It was truly a revelation. From the outside, it looks almost unassuming, but step inside and you’re greeted by an extraordinary Baroque interior overflowing with stucco, marble, and gilded ornamentation. The sheer level of detail is breathtaking. It’s one of those places where your eyes don’t know where to rest first. The adjoining monastery offers a quieter, more reflective experience. It’s easy to imagine the cloistered life the nuns once lived here, moving between the peaceful courtyards and the elegant corridors. One of the highlights is climbing up to the terrace, which offers a panoramic view of Palermo. A host of rooftops, domes, and the mountains beyond. It’s one of the best viewpoints in the city. This visit was one of our favorites in Palermo — a blend of art, history, and tranquility in the middle of the city’s vibrant chaos. Take time to explore both the church and the monastery. The terrace view and the pastries alone are worth the modest entry fee.

Currently under construction, both from the inside and outside. Therefore you don't get to see it's entire beauty for 3€. If you buy the ticket for 8€ you can also visit the monastery. The garden inside is really beautiful!

Incredible church! Very unique!! The marble inlays are incredible. Also, there was a pass-through turnstile for the nuns to provide things into the church.

Great baroque church with 3€ entrance per person. It's still accessible except the altar area, which is covered with a high green fence. All of the paintings and decorations are available together with the fake remains of the Saint.

This is a lovely cafe located right next to the church of La Martorana. There are several outdoor tables surrounded by shrubs with each table having a real plant which is nice. We popped in for a light breakfast of a croissant and Danish style pastry. It has an extremely varied menu of coffees of which I chose Pistachio which was fantastic. 😋 There is also some choices of teas too. There is, of course, a large selection of food to accompany the coffees, though not all were available on our visit. Service is fine.

Great for a hearty protein filled breakfast with for somebody who has gluten free requests. My breakfast was salmon , eggs, veggies and cheese and was a perfect day to start a busy day of biking and walking. Many other places only have pastries so I was happy to find this place! And they open early.

I recently visited a charming café in Palermo, and I must say it was a delightful experience . The coffee was absolutely excellent, rich and perfectly brewed . I tried the pistachio-filled croissant, which was simply wonderful, and the iris with ricotta was equally delicious . Considering this is 200m away from one of the busiest streets in Palermo, this spot it SO quiet. We stayed in a small apartment around the corner and this became our regular coffee/croissant spot. I can HIGHLY recommend the coffee and pistachio croissants - and if you’re lucky you may bag a table in the street under the lemon trees 🍋

This place was recommended by our apartment hosts, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. It’s clearly very popular and busy at all times of day. Very small inside but there are a few tables outside. I was delighted to see a good selection of non-dairy milks, including Oatly, which made the coffees fantastic. The pastries were absolutely top-notch – the croissants wouldn’t be out of place in a Paris patisserie. The flaky ricotta "croissant" was fantastic, and the donut freshly filled with cream for us was a real treat. A wonderful spot, very much recommended!

FAVORITE SPOT IN PALERMO. My boyfriend and I went back every day on our trip. We loved it so much. The arancini is OUT OF THIS WORLD. It’s made fresh and packed with flavour. I love their branch in Via Gabriele D'Annunzio 15 - the decor and atmosphere is amazing, they have really good pastries. I went with my friend to the one in the city center and the staff was really unfriendly and even rude. What is even worse, although they have seats and proper cafe place, they serve coffee in plastics cups.

Based on our tour guide you can get the best traditional water melon gel here. Either in the form of a cake, or in a cup. The taste is not too sweet with a strong water melon flavour. The cup was better than the cake.

We came back three times for the granita brioche plus the cannolis, try everything and enjoy! Coffee is not bad either. Might be a line, but it’s worth the wait to sit outside and watch the baroque Quattro canti and the mountains in the far distance.

The one thing that I missed in Sicily was a proper bakery and I’m glad I finally got to visit one in Palermo! We had a maritozzo, a corner to with pistachio cream and a sort of bun (tasted like a french chouquette) filled with cream and strawberries. All three pastries were excellent, if you go to Palermo please visit this place you will not regret it.

We had a most enjoyable lunch on Saturday 16 December. Our Travel tour guide grew up in this area of Palermo and was familiar with this restaurant. We had 2 Aranchinis, one with meat and ragu. The other with mushrooms. Both were Delicious! Also had Pasta e fagioli and salmon pasta. Serving sizes were enormous! Their pastries were yummy! All of the staff were very nice! Wish we could dine here all the time.

The canoli and bread with chocolate chips tasted so good! The creme in canoli was so fresh with citron or orange based scent. Although the bar was quite busy in the morning, it seemed like it was connected to some accomodation nearby, so groups of people visited which led to queues.

Coming from NYC where pizza is a staple, I had very high expectations to eat a square when in Sicily and WOW 🤯. This is THE BEST PIZZA I have had in my LIFE! we were staying at a piazza a hour walk away and it was worthy of every step to get there. We ordered two squares and I ate mine so fast I went back in to get another. Unfortunately I didn’t get to eat anything else but the service was friendly fast and respectful. If only I can teleport to have some right now! This place deserves 10 star’s.

If you have to visit ONE food place in Palermo, go there. The pizza they make can be moving. It's warm, soft and hugs your tummy like a best friend. Try the different versions! They also have pasta, arancine and other wonders that we didn't try. We were there twice in five days and we weren't even close. Very crowded, but wait a moment, you'll find a table.

Came here for dessert and coffee after having Arancina across the road. We had cassatina, biscotti and macchiati. The place is an absolute vibe — men serving behind the counter and bar in suits and bow ties, pokies and lottery in the corner. We sat and marvelled at the place while we ate our delicious little sweets. A true little gem.

The little cakes are a dream.

I've been going to the Cubana for years. I have to admit that I noticed that the quality of their food offerings has diminished notably during my last visit in July. The staff is still helpful and friendly. It is still a top end modern café with pastries, gelato and typical Sicilian food plus bakery goods. The bakery goods were still excellent but everything else: food to pastries were disappointing. Perhaps the heat has had effect on the food preparation. We are talking 35 + degrees Celsius . It still an oasis you can escape to during the summer months .

La Cubana used to the the absolute best place to get cakes and ice cream in Palermo, but it seems to have fallen from grace. (I've been coming to Palermo for over 2 decades) We bought a mango, lemon and some other flavour sourbet Ice cream cake and also a chocolate one. Neither was special, the chocolate one tasted like they had run out of chocolate powder, and the fruity one just tasted like a Solero! Both cakes were 25 euros each. I'm a huge mango lover, Pakistani, South American, and even Indian ocean ones... But this just tasted like cheap mango juice! Maybe they should go and check out the competition, and blind taste test thier offerings vs everyone elses.. They might realise that they are no longer the best. Service is good when you have someone serving you, but if not, the two special cashiers dont jump to help, I guess they think they are above that...

Fantastic pastries, tolls service.very clean

We went there being incredibly hungry in the area on a Sunday and there was absolutely nothing else nearby. It's not necessarily a restaurant, more like a buffet so don't expect it being homely or having an outstanding level of taste bit it was still great for two very hungry people who just wanted to eat! The dessert section also looked decadent but we got filled up on the mains and couldn't fit anything else.

We've been to Sciampagna for more than 5 times, their macarons are divine (see photo below). I really think that they are great masters of pastry art. The place is absolutely worth visiting. As for their products, we can really not complain. However, the place is unreliable: in the last 6 months we found it closed twice (once we found out that they were on holidays, which they definitely deserved, but the other day-off was without any justification). The staff is nice, a bit reserved, but this kind of Western style is still ok. Their products are definitely expensive, but they guarantee a nice, clean space. I find the shop often empty, glass shelves are echoing without any displayed product, which is a pity and we don't really like the dine-in space upstairs. Nonetheless, if you like sophisticated well-designed and very French-styled cafés, Sciampagna will do for you.

My absolute favourite place to start Sundays: I’m fond of the elderly couple who runs this pastry shop, the gentleman insists on preparing Palermo’s typical Halloween sweet (frutta Martorana) with his own hand (real art pieces) and his wife always has a nice word for us. But I also find their employees excellent: professional, kind and attentive. You can even see their kitchen on a TV screen in real life, so you can watch how their master bakers work. Unique place.

The flavours of ingredients shine through as very little sugar is used, and the textures are so delicate.
