Nestled beside a serene Japanese garden, Kurabiyori is a delightful bakery and café that beautifully marries tradition with taste. Housed in an Edo Period building that boasts over 180 years of history, this charming spot underwent renovations in 2005 to enhance its appeal. After exploring numerous European bakeries, I was eager to experience something distinctly Japanese, which led me to Kurabiyori. The ambiance here is enchanting, surrounded by lush greenery and the tranquil sounds of nature.

Bakery
I really enjoy the sandwiches at Backerei Brotzeit, a bakery that has recently switched to offering a menu without any animal products. However, I have noticed that the sandwiches have become quite expensive, which may be due to either the price hike or the vegan ingredients. The bread itself is reasonably priced and has a chewy texture, although they also offer harder bread for those who prefer it. I would definitely recommend trying their baguettes if you're a fan of hard bread.

Nestled in the corner of Creo Square, Mister Donuts tonarie Q't Shop offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle. With its charming atmosphere and friendly staff, this cozy spot is perfect for enjoying coffee and an array of delicious donuts. The large windows provide a view of the Tsukuba bus terminal, adding to its appeal.
Polite and friendly staff, quick service, clean tables, strong wifi signal, power sockets for laptop, and only 275 yen for a pot of tea (enough for one and half cups). The downside: Because it's cheap, there are sometimes noisy kids, which is not the fault of the shop or staff.
John S — Google review
Lots of choices of the doughnut, and my favourite the churros. They have refillable coffee, with plenty of individual seats. Avoid during lunch hour, very crowded.
Fatin B — Google review
It is a cosy, cute and comfortable environment. It could get crowded with a long queue but it is sure a nice place to grab some snacks or catch up with friends over coffee.
Oluwatobi A — Google review
I don't have any problems with the taste. I love Mister Donuts. The problem is with the serving lady. I got a stuff that probably wasn't in a good mood to work. She was so rough when she handle my order. She gave me my drink in a rough way until the water coming out from the cup. It wasn't that crowded. So I thought she was just not in a good mood. The cashier asked her to replace my tray and then she spilled again my drink for the second time until I had to say "気をつけてください" A note for the staff of Mister Donuts here: Please, if you are not in a good mood to work, just do お休み. Do not work!! As a customer, I hate to receive that kind of treatment from the staff.
Ai C — Google review
Good food (not only donuts). Reasonably good coffee with free refills. Sometimes lacks adequate seating. A great location near to Tsukuba train station and bus terminal. Recommended.
Brian L — Google review
This location at Tsukuba Center is pretty nice. Not too crowded, and the number of staff to move the line is good. The windows over look Tsukuba bus terminal which is interesting. Located in the corner of Creo Square, it is not surrounded by other businesses. But the only problem is that you cannot simply go there for donuts because of the need for parking.

Mister Donut is a delightful spot that offers an array of unique and whimsical donuts, including adorable Pokémon-themed creations. One standout is the Psyduck donut filled with custard, though it leans on the sweeter side. For those looking for something savory, their dual-flavor options like mentaiko and egg salad are surprisingly tasty! Nestled in a new location, Picnic Bakery is a delightful spot that has quickly garnered attention for its mouthwatering offerings. This charming bakery may be compact, accommodating around five guests at a time, but it packs a punch with an impressive variety of breads and pastries. From savory options like their hearty burgers to delectable sweet treats, every bite promises satisfaction. The olive and sundried tomato bread pairs wonderfully with stews or pasta, making it a must-try for any food lover.
Recent news: they are currently closed because they are moving shop to their new location (Midorino 2-38-9, the building behind the FamilyMart). They will officially reopen on May 28 according to their Instagram. A bit annoying that this isn't actually posted on their website... but FYI. I love their burgers! They have a good amount of volume and are very tasty. I also love their olive and sundried tomato bread, very good with stew or pasta. Their sweet breads are also very good. They do sell out very quickly after 12 PM, and while they are baking and restocking the entire day, stuff like their burgers don't tend to be replenished after lunch.

(Translated by Google) (I vaguely remember the name of the product 😅) I bought three items: coffee anpan, matcha and white chocolate bread, and fig and cream cheese bread. The total price was just under 900 yen, which I thought was a bit aggressive. However, the filling was not runny or tasteless, so I think I can recommend it to people who are looking for delicious bread. Personally, I liked the coffee anpan 😁 It was delicious regardless of whether it was soft or hard, so next time I would like to try a white bread type 😊 (Original)

Some people buy amounts that are clearly too much for one person to consume. Even if they have a large family, this is a small shop, so normally they would refrain from doing so. There are people who can't do that. I hope the shop will take measures. ——- The hard Danish pastries are delicious. They're filling, but the prices are a little high at 300-500 yen each. Bread is too oily and they only serve very limited quantities of lunch. I've never been able to order because the time in which they serve it is so short. You have to be quick if you want to get it. On a Friday morning around 11:30, I visited Trail Bakery & Bake. The road leading to the bakery was narrow, so caution is advised when walking. Upon arrival, the bakery appeared quiet with only one customer present. There was still a decent amount of bread available for purchase. I bought bagels, scones, and opted for a build-your-own sandwich option. The bagel had an abundance of orange zest and walnuts which added a delightful chewiness to it.
Great bakery with chewy crusty loaves, wonderful kind staff. There are many types of bread on offer, you can call ahead to reserve also, additionally they make nice sandwiches perfect for a picnic. Go here! Recommended!

Today I visited Trail Bakery for the very first time! I was impressed with the number of cars and people lined up!After about thirty minutes of waiting, I was able to purchase two slices of cake, two sandwiches, and at least three breads. The service was good! The woman at the cashier was kind and helpful. I waited less than 10 minutes for the sandwiches to be ready (salmon and chicken). When I tried the sandwiches, I was amazed by the flavor and texture of the bread!! It was delicious! I will definitely go there again 😋

(Translated by Google) Located about 3km from Tsuchiura Station, this bakery is known for its hard breads. I visited around 10:30 on a Saturday. There were so many different hard breads on display, it was hard to decide what to buy. The sandwiches were made on the spot, and you could choose your fillings. I bought a butter scone, a croque monsieur, and coconut chunks. Overall, the prices were a little on the pricey side... There were tables in the back of the store, but they didn't serve food, so I ate them when I got home. First, the butter scone, which had a strong buttery aroma and went perfectly with tea. The croque monsieur had a strong cheese flavor and the bread inside was chewy and delicious. The coconut chunks also had a strong coconut flavor and were very tasty. All of the breads were excellent, but a bit pricey. This is probably to be expected, as they use high-quality ingredients. I feel this is a bakery worth visiting when you want to eat luxurious bread, rather than for everyday use. The appealing feature is that customers can choose their favorite bread from the selection and then choose their own toppings to create their own sandwich. The portions were generous and satisfying. Our top recommendation is the hummus. The bean flavor was truly plentiful, with a simple, natural taste. Their hard breads were also perfectly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Their bagels were also incredibly chewy and delicious. I've been coming here for bagels since they were in Tsukuba, and they still taste just as good. (Translated by Google) I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes hard bread! The sandwiches are delicious, and I like the fact that you can choose two or three types of fillings to your liking. However, the customer service is just not great. And they sell out so quickly!! There were days when I rushed over during lunchtime at work, only to find that they were already sold out! You could say the staff are friendly, but they're a bit too familiar, or maybe even abrupt? Or should I say, the way they speak is intimidating. At its worst, even though there were multiple customers, the man in production and the woman in sales were arguing. Even though it's a food store, the man's harsh, accusatory tone was intimidating, and the woman's tone of voice in response was also intimidating. All the products are delicious, so if the customer service was better, I'd want to go back even more. 💧 I always leave the store feeling disappointed... It's also hard to tell when a sandwich is sold out, so I wish they'd make it easier to see from the outside! I really used to like this local, small bakery, but recently when I go, the varieties of bread is quite low. The people are great and friendly, but I don't know why the bread is so sparse. With the Covid situation, it certainly does not help for bread left uncovered. One big issue with this place is the parking. People literally just stop in the street and park. Kind of bad. Their parking lot handles about six cars. If you go by foot or by bicycle, it is really the best.

(Translated by Google) The inside of the baguette is soft and fluffy. It's delicious if you rebake it to make the surface crispy. Pretzels are authentic. This bread has large crystals of salt on its surface and goes well with the salty taste. The long and thin ones are made of hard dough with dried fruits and nuts kneaded into them. Good for wine snacks. The croissant was rebaked (it was burnt). It has a careful finish that allows you to clearly see the layers, and it's at an unprecedented price! I was wondering if they had forgotten about the price increase. It has a gentle buttery feel and is delicious. Scones are my favorite type. I don't see many things this big. The chewy dough is slightly sweet. It's best served with lots of jam and cream. This is also cost effective. It's a long thin dried fruit bread that goes well with the wine, but there was another bread with gorgonzola and cream cheese. The dough is chewy and has a fun texture, and the cream cheese complements the strong gorgonzola cheese flavor. After enjoying the flavor of the cheese, I washed it down with red wine and the wine went really well. The bakery accepts various payment methods including cash or PayPay barcode payment. Additionally, they have a time sale where bread is half price starting from 17:00 in the evening, providing an opportunity to purchase their already cheap bread at an even lower price.
(Translated by Google) I stopped by after being recommended by a nearby hot spring inn. They open early in the morning, and there's a parking map at the entrance, so you can park and shop at your leisure. The horse mackerel fried sandwich, served with moist, chewy bread that won first place in the Ibaraki Bread Competition, comes in two flavors: tartar and sauce. It was delicious, surprising, and satisfying, and absolutely fantastic. The chocolate cornet was also creamy but just the right amount of sweet, so it wasn't heavy and was delicious all the way to the end. The dark cherry pie was truly delicious, with the syrup soaking into the edges of the toasted pastry and pairing well with the sour cream. I'm looking forward to trying the remaining cutlet sandwich. The warm atmosphere of the shop has me wanting to return. Thank you for the meal. (Translated by Google) I've been to dozens of bakeries, but this is the first time I've been so happy. Five stars just doesn't do it justice. At first glance, it looks like a regular, slightly old-fashioned bakery, and the items on display are pretty basic, but I was surprised at how satisfying it was. Some of the breads felt heavier than I expected when I picked them up. Some were filled with plenty of cream cheese, others had something kneaded into them. I think there were a lot of chewy breads. I couldn't decide which bread was appealing, so I ended up buying a lot. They were all so delicious that I finished them in no time. My wife, who usually eats little, ate more than usual. The sweet breads are on par with those at a delicious cake shop. Not only is the cost-effectiveness excellent, but each one is so delicious that I'm proud of myself for choosing them. There is a parking lot behind the store. I'm also happy that they open early in the morning. It takes more than an hour by car from my house, but I have no choice but to make something to go there.

Opens from 7:00am. There are quite a lot of types of bread, but the number on display is small, only 1 to 3 pieces (there may be a separate store where you can replenish them as soon as they are sold). Best of all, the price is quite low! Although they are small in size...kinako donuts and petit cakes often range in price from 30 yen (excluding tax) to 200 yen! Sandwiches are 200 yen! Although the price is shown excluding tax, it still cost about 700 yen for 5 items.I ate the bread I bought in small quantities and it tasted good. The shrimp cutlet sandwich was quite large♪ I also bought a crunchy chocolate sandwich that has won several awards in the Tsukuba bread contest with a handwritten POP in the store♪ (Original)

Morvan bakery offers a variety of delectable bread options for grape bread enthusiasts who desire dried grapes. To savor this exquisite treat, it is advisable to purchase an ample quantity. The smooth texture of the bread, coupled with its tightly packed and succulent wine-infused grapes, creates a delightful culinary experience. Surprisingly inconspicuous yet inviting, Morvan bakery attracts customers with its reasonable prices and prime location by the window.

The drink bar costs around 200 yen, and free tea is provided by Kasumi. There is also a drink vending machine in the eat-in corner. I went there right after they opened, so I bought 1 x calzone and 2 x thick-sliced French with about 30% of the products on display. French toast is hearty, moist and firm. The taste is okay.
