Gelateria dei Neri is a classic gelato shop located just a short walk from Vivoli. With 28 years of history, it offers a wide range of gelato flavors, as well as cakes and coffee. The shop's green-hued accents and framed photographs create an atmosphere that represents historic ice cream culture. Despite its prime location near the Museo Galileo, there is usually no line, making it a convenient stop for gelato enthusiasts.
One of the best Gelateria (ice cream shop/dairy store)I've experienced in my life! They have a large amount of flavors, all the ones we tried were very good. We went at night the store was very crowded but I don't know if it's usual. If you're in Florence, you must stop there!
Geoffroy L — Google review
Gelaterias in Italy are a dime a dozen so when you see one with a line out the door you know it's got to be good. Don't worry the line moves fast and you'll have your tasty treat in no time. They have a large variety of flavors but I stuck with the classics like chocolate and my favorite pistachio. The ice cream was rich and creamy and full of flavor. There's a few places to sit but it's pretty crowded inside so it's best to take your order to go.
Kris P — Google review
Simply the best gelato I had in Florence. While most gelato places here are excellent, this one stands out and feels like a must-try. I had the Cheesecake alla Fragola (incredible), Crema Buontalenti, and Fior di Latte…all smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced. My wife tried Passionfruit, Fig with Ricotta (delicious), and the star of the night: Caramel Neri, a dulce de leche-style flavor that was absolutely unforgettable. If you’re deciding where to go, make sure this place is on your list
Guigs — Google review
Absolute Must-Try! Top Original Italian Gelato! 🇮🇹 This place is a true gem and the absolute must-try for anyone looking for authentic, traditional Italian gelato! The gelato here is incredible: the flavors are so natural and creamy, you can tell they use top-quality ingredients. I got a huge portion for only 7 €, which is fantastic value for the quality. Beyond the amazing taste, the experience was great. They have great vibes, and the service was fun and engaging—the staff genuinely seemed to enjoy serving. Highly recommended! If you're nearby, don't miss out on this spot.
Sissi — Google review
Gelateria dei Neri is an absolute must-visit for any gelato lover in Florence (the birthplace of gelato!). Their quality is top-tier, and the flavors are incredibly rich. The pistachio here is one of the very best I have tried. My only regret was choosing After-Eight (mint with chocolate) as my second scoop instead of another nut or chocolate flavor, which seems to be where they truly excel. Next time, I am absolutely trying one of their chocolate flavors! As an added bonus, they offer comfortable indoor, air- conditioned seating where you can enjoy gelato comfortably, especially under the sweltering heat of summer. And there's also a clean restroom (WC). Really worth the stop and one of my favorites after my 18-day gelato journey throughout Italy. ❤️
Cheska P — Google review
Popped in for a quick gelato after dinner on a Thursday night around 10pm. The line was short, the service was friendly and the gelato was absolutely delicious. Hard to find back gelato in Italy, but my husband really loved their hazelnut and pistachio gelato flavors.
Maggie J — Google review
If I could give 6, even 7 stars, I would. This is by far, the best gelato not just in Florence, but in Italy for me. I cannot even begin to describe what makes this plave perfect, but everything is. From the range of flavours, to the tastes, textures and decor. This is gelato perfection. My top flavours were: 1. Tiramisu 2. Cookies and cream 3. After 8
Corrine M — Google review
For the first time in my life, I couldn’t help but rush to get the second one right after I finished the first one. They have the best gelato I’ve ever had! Especially salty caramel!!

Gelateria La Carraia is a small, family-owned gelato shop located on the south side of the Ponte alla Carraia in Florence. It offers generous portions of classic and creative ice cream flavors with superb texture and an array of unique choices.
Simply put, reliably some of the best gelato we've ever had - and we've had a lot! The texture is perfectly creamy every time, and the flavours are fantastic.
Mike B — Google review
Listen up, gelato lovers — Gelateria La Carraia isn’t just good, it’s “drop everything and move to Florence” good. The texture? Silky perfection. The flavors? A full-on Italian love affair in a cup. You’ll swear off sad supermarket gelato forever after one bite. Honestly, if heaven has a dessert counter, it’s probably run by La Carraia. 🍦✨ Best. Gelato. Ever. Don’t argue — just go.
Jack K — Google review
I’ve been to Florence multiple times and this gelato is hands down the best there is in Italy. I can’t find any that’s better. Getting some late at night and hanging out on the bridge is a great experience. The price is unbeatable too.
Dome — Google review
One of the best gelato in Florence—and that's saying a lot. Being the birthplace of gelato, Florence has a lot of venerable gelateria and La Carraia is definitely one of them. The gelato had just the right level of creaminess, sweetness, and texture. What surprised me the most is the generous serving! My only regret was that I chose only two flavors, I should have gotten three or four. 😋
Cheska P — Google review
It’s been 15 years since I ate here and boy has it become more popular with tourists. This was a locals spot but has expanded its speed and efficiency . The chocolate mousse gelato was incredible. I let others try my cafe flavored one’s and they thought it was outstanding. Highly recommended. Don’t go to the tourist traps. Go to where the locals go.
Challenja D — Google review
Found this gelateria by the canal offering some vegan flavours (but no vegan cones). The quantity of Gelato they serve for the price (compared to similar places in the area) is absolutely worth it! The dark chocolate was rich and indulgent! The texture if their Gelato was also very enjoyable! Highly recommend!
Bhairavi G — Google review
Best gelato I’ve had in Florence! I’m not even exaggerating. It’s hard to find a gelato as good as this anywhere else. Don’t be intimidated by the long queue; the line moves very quickly and you’ll have your gelato in 10 minutes! I went back here multiple times. For this gelato, the extra calories are worth it!
Mochi — Google review
Very good ice cream, probably the best in Florence! And not too busy in the morning. Very creamy and well made ice cream with lots of flavour. Not too sweet. Located right next to the bridge. If you can get a spot at a table outside, you have a nice view.

Ice cream shop
Vivoli, located in the heart of Santa Croce and established in 1929, is renowned as Florence's oldest gelateria. This charming spot offers a cozy atmosphere and serves up delectable pastries, desserts, and artisanal gelato made with seasonal fruit and whole milk. The establishment prides itself on its traditional methods of gelato-making, using organic eggs, fresh cream, and milk to create their delightful flavors.
This place came highly recommended as the best gelato in Florence…and it didn’t disappoint. The gelato is excellent, and the coffee/affogato is equally worth trying. Pro tip: if you’re ordering the classic Pistachio Affogato, skip the affogato bar line and head to the gelateria counter instead — it’s much faster and you can get it there as well. In terms of the Gelato only, the Millefoglie was absolutely incredible and one of the best I’ve tried in my life. I also tried the Riso (yes, rice — surprisingly amazing) and Zabaione (not my favorite). As for the ‘best in Florence’ title, I’d say it’s neck-and-neck with Gelateria del Neri — both are top tier
Guigs — Google review
Just wow. This affogato is indescribably delicious. The baked goods are flaky and perfect. The gelato is a winner amongst winners. I came here throw joking I a row to start my day off right! The young man at the register, Lorenzo, is a great friendly way to start the day! He is so personable and nice. Thanks for making my civility experience so memorable, Lorenzo. Excellent job. Also, a big thank you to the one and only Phil Rosenthal for leading me to this gem amongst gems! I’ll be dreaming of this affogato for the rest of my natural life.
Brendan A — Google review
visited Vivoli and really enjoyed the dessert—the presentation was beautiful, topped with plenty of pistachios, and the flavor was rich and delicious. The atmosphere felt authentic and the staff were friendly. We were able to find a table. However, the prices were on the expensive side, so it may not be the best option if you're looking for something budget-friendly. Still, it's a nice place to try a traditional treat in Florence.
Betül Y — Google review
Vivoli is an amazing gelato spot! The gelato is incredibly creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The flavors are classic but perfectly executed, and every bite is a delight. The shop is cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect stop for a sweet treat. Definitely one of the best gelato experiences I’ve had.
Little G — Google review
YUP! This one's good. I dont normally give 5 star reviews because places need to wow me, but the affogato here really wowed me. I don't normally drink coffee, I dont even really like espresso but I will eat desserts with coffee in it. The creamy Gelato mixed with the espresso was such a nice combination. My avid coffee drinking friend did say it was on the sweeter side and she likes it less sweet, a note for those who like it less sweet. The Gelato here was good too!
Karissa L — Google review
After being disappointed by a viral sandwich shop the day before, we were a little hesitant about trying Vivoli, but it totally lived up to the hype. We decided to go right when they opened at 8am thinking a) there won't be a line and b) affogato counts as breakfast because there is coffee in it. Well joke was on us because there was already a line formed when we arrived on Friday morning at 8:05am. Once they opened the doors the line moved quickly and we were elbow deep in caffeine and gelato by 8:20am. There is a small seating area in the back but that filled up pretty much right away so we enjoyed our affogato while standing outside. Both flavors were good but the pistachio is an absolute must in my opinion.
Maggie J — Google review
We loved the pistachio affogato! Classic was good too but preferred the salty nutty flavour with the sweet vanilla gelato. Great location across from a Ukrainian Catholic Church which was playing some lovely music. We enjoyed a coffee sitting on the curb on the street with everyone else. Was a pleasant atmosphere.
Oksana D — Google review
Vivoli Gelato absolutely lives up to its reputation. Their affogato is on another level rich, smooth espresso poured over incredibly creamy gelato. The balance of flavors is perfect, and you can tell everything is made with real Italian quality. It’s a simple dessert, but here it tastes unforgettable.

Gelateria Della Passera is a small, popular gelato spot located in the Oltrarno neighborhood of Florence. The gelateria offers a variety of high-quality, artisanal gelato flavors including traditional favorites like coffee and pistachio, as well as more unique options such as the popular profumi doriente made with fresh ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, saffron and lemon.
Cute little gelato shop with bubbly cute staff. The figs and pistachio flavour was oh so good. The flavours here are so exciting too. Located by a cute little square with benches and hungry polite pigeons.
Kai N — Google review
The best ice cream I had in Italy! All the flavours were very strong but delicate, natural, and not to sweet. The ice cream was super smooth and took more time to melt than an average ice cream.
Maxime L — Google review
Shopkeeper recommended Rice and Almond Biscotti for 2 Distri (4 Euros), which was very delicious. Subtle flavour and not too strong. Rice is slightly chewy as there's rice inside. Just the right sweetness for a refreshing afternoon snack.
Astor T — Google review
Best gelato we’ve had during our Italy trip. Flavours were strong and felt like eating the actual goods in gelato form. We had the pistachio and dark chocolate.
Jan L — Google review
The first thing I do when I start researching our vacation spots is look for the best gelato/ice cream shops. My husband is obsessed with gelato so I like to find the best spots for him to test out. We ate a lot of delicious gelato when we were in Florence and have been to plenty of outstanding shops all over the world. My husband said this was hands down the best gelato he has ever had. His go to flavors are hazelnut and pistachio and they were both incredibly creamy with a depth of flavor that was truly remarkable. The chocolate cherry gelato was also a personal favorite. Cannot recommend this spot enough!
Maggie J — Google review
This was our favorite gelato stop in all of Florence! The staff is super friendly and allowed us to sample one flavor per person as we were making our decisions. We loved how the flavors change on the daily and they incorporate local seasonal ingredients to create the best gelato. Some of our favorite flavors were pumpkin, pear, pistachio, and banana with orange and nutmeg. The texture of the gelato is just right as it is so creamy but doesn’t melt all over your hand right away. When visiting this place, you can expect to wait in line. We went twice and one time we waited 20+ minutes and the other time was only about 5 minutes. The wait will be totally worth your time, as the gelato is delicious!
Cameron K — Google review
Ice cream is quite good and nice choices, very hygienic and clean. Service friendliness is average and asking for money ahead of ordering is a bit alienating. Was ok once, but not worth to come back.
Christoph K — Google review
We got the ricotta strawberry and the persimmon. They were both good but I regret not getting the chestnut one since there were soft candied chestnuts in the chestnut one You could tell they use real ingredients here. The persimmon one felt like I was just eating a persimmon that's been frozen and sorbeted

Gelateria De' Medici is a charming gelato shop located near the Piazza Beccaria, exuding an elegant and retro ambiance with its wooden walls and glass chandeliers. The shop offers around forty-four flavors of luxurious cakes and ice cream creations, including the delightful fior di latte.
Hands down the best gelato in Florence. Our food tour guide made us promise we would go and we went back 3 times during our 2 day stay.

A locals spot for sure- we were the only foreigners there! Really interesting flavors of Gelato and the ones we tasted were delicious
Magdalena D — Google review
Amazing mind blowing gelato flavors, the staff helped us to select right ice creams and flavours. Helped us select vegan and vegetarian flavors without egg. Thank you so much.
Prashant A — Google review
Glad to have happened on this place. Big and interesting selection of flavours, professional service and a timeless interior. Three of us ordered entirely different flavours and everyone ended up raving about their own selection, which shows that the standards are very high. I can’t speak to what everyone else got, but whenever the subject of gelato comes up for at least the next six months, you can guarantee I will be fan-boying about the yogurt and candied ginger (yogurt allo zenzero). Sweet jesus. The gummy tanginess of the ginger. The restrained sugar levels. The moreish novelty of the flavour. Gelato experience of the year for me. Simultaneously wanted to be left alone with the cup and to share its wonder with everyone around me.

This place is really good! They have a great range of the usual and unusual flavors. Their prices are very low compared to some other famous gelateria in florence.

Delicious gelato, really good price, good portions, we had gelato every single day during our stay in Florence, meaning 9 nights in a row and tried all flavors, a medium cone with 3 flavors cost €2.80 the only down side is the ladies at the counter are not that Patience and not really nice, on the other side the guys are very professional, patience and kind.

Perché no!... is a historic gelateria in Florence, dating back to 1939. It's known for its creamy semifreddo made with cold water, sugar, and fruit flavorings. The family-run shop offers a variety of seasonal ice creams and sorbets, with flavors like ricotta and candied fruit or Ligurian rose. The compact space features an ice cream counter and cursive neon lights that make it easily recognizable from the street.
The best gelato in Florence we came here everyday and also was recommended to through a food tour. Will definitely be back!! The yogurt flavor was our favorite. And the owners are very kind.

Really lovely gelato shop, lots lots amazing flavours and really friendly service. I got grape, lavender and pomegranade, and they are great!!!must try when you are in Florence!!

We got two cornettos, ive found the price a little overpriced for the size, its 6 euros but i really liked the flavours. The crema fiorentine and pistacchio was the best imo,10/10 recommend. I liked the lavender as well. I couldn’t recommend the cake one cuz i think they have better flavours.

Super nice service, very good ice cream. Crema among the best I had in Florence and Bologna. Sesame was an interesting and flavorful new taste for me. Picture is small cono due Gusti for 3 euros.

Such sweet two ladies inside, welcoming place. Hazelnut gelato one is my favorite, soooo delicious! 3euros for small cup with 2 flavours 👌
Melisa U — Google review
I was recommended to try Perche No by a book I read before visiting Florence, advising against showy gelaterias and suggesting trying artisanal businesses with fresher ingredients and more inventive flavours than you would find in supermarkets. I think I went to Perche No three times in all, very handy location between the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria. Yes, small selection but probably fresher than other places! I was intrigued by flavours such as "rice" (?!) and "florentine cake" and sorbets such as "fig". One of the biggest surprises was the price - I tried 2 flavours each time and in a 3 Euro cup that was still only 3 Euros! If you want a huge cone, you can probably have that too, I just stuck to the cups and trying unusual flavours! Friendly helpful staff.

My Sugar gelato artigianale is a charming artisanal gelateria located in the San Lorenzo neighborhood of Florence. Run by a young couple and one of their family members, the shop sources fresh ingredients from the local market each morning to create 16 delightful flavors. The gelateria has quickly gained popularity for its unique offerings such as cremino with hazelnut, Asian-inspired black milk tea and black sesame, alongside classic favorites like tiramisu and pistachio.
Absolute dream gelato ❤️ I haven't seen such unique Asian flavors at any other gelato places, so this was so much fun! 💚🍵 (5/5) Kyoto matcha latte: Reminded me of being in Japan, I was so happy to find a rich matcha flavor. 🖤 (5/5) Black sesame: Amazing. 🧡🍊 (5/5) Nandarino e yuzu: Fruity, fresh, and juicy. 🩷🍓 (5/5) Strawberry: Fruity with bits of strawberry seeds (so you know it's real fruit!), fresh, and juicy. Don't listen to the haters, this place is wonderful! Must visit 😍

During our visit to Florence, this place quickly became our number one choice for gelato throughout our stay. The flavors were absolutely delicious and unique — we especially loved the salted caramel! What made the experience even better was that the owner himself was present, personally overseeing the shop and serving the gelato. He was incredibly kind and friendly, which added a special touch to the visit. Highly recommended — a must-try spot!

The only gelato spot in Florence I visited on multiple occasions - four to be exact. If I had more time in the city, I would have continued to try every flavor on the board. The owner is very friendly and provides great suggestions for pairings.

I had the salted caramel and pistachio gelato on a small cone. It was affordable and high quality. It is the best gelato I have ever had, and I say this as someone who worked in a gelato shop for 5 years, and tasted the San Gimignano championship gelato.

Queue to lick in 12 minutes 5pm Sunday. Pistachio and Thai papaya. Not only the highest rated, highest award, most decorated, but authentic and cheap gelato (cheapest I found and short queue) I used the wooden stool after. Tiny place. WiFi too I cracked a couple of jokes in Italian which have worked elsewhere and spoke Italian to place my order but she didn't laugh, eek! Genuine gelato shouldn't make you thirsty after... It didn't (perhaps unlike mango gelato I had in Siena!)

Gelateria Artigianale La Sorbettiera is a must-visit in the San Frediano neighborhood, offering incredibly creamy gelato and fresh fruit sorbets. The owner, Antonio, comes from a long line of gelato makers and is dedicated to blending tradition with innovation.
I visited this café and tried the Tiramisu and Hazelnut ice cream. The flavors were really good and tasty, but unfortunately, the experience was affected by the service. The staff, particularly one girl, was rude and unwilling to let me try the flavors before I decided what to order. This was disappointing, as good service is just as important as good food. Overall, while the ice cream was delicious, the customer service could definitely be improved.

Really nice gelato! The queue waiting times was not bad at all, they had a nice variety of flavours and the service was also good. My favorite thing about this place was the attention to detail in the flavour description, like the cacao percentage variations in chocolate gelato or the fact that they use Brontë pistachio (aka the best one in the work!) you certainly pay for quality ingredients

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a delightful gelato shop in Florence, and I can't recommend them enough! The gelato was absolutely delicious, with a rich and creamy texture that made every scoop a heavenly experience. The flavors were inventive and fresh, truly capturing the essence of Italian gelato. What really stood out was the wonderful staff. They were incredibly friendly and allowed us to sample different flavors before making our purchase. This was especially appreciated as it was lightly drizzling outside, and they kindly invited us to sit inside the shop to enjoy our treats away from the rain. Their hospitality made the experience all the more enjoyable! For anyone planning a trip to Florence, make sure to stop by this gelato shop. Although I noticed some conflicting information on Google about their hours, I can confirm that they were open during the first week of January when I visited. Don’t miss out on this gem when you're in the city!

Great ice cream with a mix of traditional and unusual flavours. The matcha and salted butter were delicious 😋 The cone was probably one of the better cones I’ve tried in Italy

We just got to Florence and had the Gelato here. All I have to say is that the Affogato is amazing! I had to return in the evening and got some time to chat with the lovely lady that works there. Great place, delicious gelato and very good customer service. Friendly and delicious! Go now!

Night time stop at yet another gelato place. This time I had their affogato (gelato with coffee) with cream on top. The gelato, of course, makes this Italian affogato better than what you would find in the US and yes definitely a must try is you are a coffee and a gelato lover.

One of the best ice cream shops in Florence. Fresh and artisanal ice creams from La Sorbettiera that has now other venues spread all over Florence. I really appreciate the fact that they have few flavours that change over the different seasons with just very few flavours always proposed, such as hazelnut and pistachio. I got a medium tub with hazelnut, pistachio and catrame (dark chocolate). Tasty and authentic flavours not overwhelming in terms of sweetness. Staff really nice and kind. I highly recommend this place. It is always a pleasure to visit this and the other venues.

Cantina del Gelato is a popular gelato place in Florence, with two locations and a wide variety of flavors. The shop offers delicious and filling acai bowls, but some customers have expressed concern about the use of disposable plastic bowls instead of more sustainable containers. Despite this, the gelato is described as creamy and sweet, with unique flavors that are highly recommended by visitors. The owners are praised for their great service and friendly attitude.
I love the gelato here! The pistachio one is my favorite flavor. They’re also one of the places that stores gelatos in cans and I think they also make them in-house. The açaí bowls are also really fresh and good!

Il Procopio is a family-run gelateria located in the Sant'Ambrogio neighborhood near Santa Croce, known for its thick and creamy scoops. They offer about twenty seasonal flavors daily, with over 200 recipes in rotation based on peak ingredients. Their gelato is particularly creamy and delicious, with generous portions of toppings stirred through each batch for a unique crunch.
They have probably the best gelato I've ever had. Maybe the best in Italy! I had the pistachio with pistachio crushed nuts, to die for. And I had the Caramelo with nuts and it was even better than the other!!! The owner does something different than all the others. Her flavors just pop out, so rich, and creamy. I've already gone twice and I'm going back again before I leave Florence, Italy!!! You have to try this place!!

I would say Il Procopio is really one or the best ice-cream parlour you can find in Florence! I went there several times and was never disappointed with the taste and quality of their flavours and cone, neither was I with the staff’s professional kindness. :))

The best gelato I had in Italy by tenfold! The pistachio is salty, sweet, nutty (of course), and so utterly creamy. I went back every day I was in Florence and I’m still dreaming of it. Everywhere else was so far below how good this gelato was even though their reviews were also amazing. The owner deserves her flowers!

Authenticity and Flavor This gelato is remarkable. The texture is what sets it apart: it’s creamy and rich with a substantial, satisfying body. Pure and natural, flavour, a clear indicator of high-quality ingredients. Highly recommended!

Gelateria Pasticceria Badiani is a renowned gelato shop in Florence, known for its classic and innovative flavors. The shop gained fame by winning a competition with its signature flavor, Buontalenti, made with vanilla and cream. In addition to gelato, they offer a variety of desserts like cremino, chili chocolate flavor, after-dinner desserts in small glasses, filled sponge cake, and ice-cream pastries.
Definitely try it, even if you have limited budget like a student like me (small with 2 flavours 3€, medium with 3 is 4€ for cup)!! I got pistachio, sth on left with nuts, tiramisu, and chocolate with nuts. Also tasted cheesecake and their original one, these two including the second I mentioned were very delicious..

Delicious gelato, and not ridiculously expensive . Large gelato was 5 euros and very worth it. The cherry, cheesecake, mango, lemon, and tiramisu flavours were amazing. Nice interior and atmosphere as well!

Such an amazing array of flavours. The croissants were average - nothing amazing. Reduced a star as the server did a sloppy job with my cone order (it was falling off the cone). Rather than replace it she chucked it into a cup. Stopped serving us midway to serve a local customer. Staff are not particularly friendly sadly

Very good portion for the price. Picture showing due Gusti con panna for 4 euros. I tried many good ice cream places in Florence and Bologna but the buonvenuti ice cream really surprised me. Very plain and so flavourful at the same time. I loved it. Tried the popcorn ice cream too but found it a little to "caramell-crunchy". Service very welcoming and patient with my bad Italian

Surely my favourite and best gelateria and pasticceria along the Via Dei Mille, just 2 minutes walk from Artemio Franchi, Fiorentina Stadium. From a chilling breakfast with wide selections of pastry (my favourite is Budino di Riso) and well made cappucino to artigianale lunch, try some menus and you will understand why I said artigianale - Anyway I attached many pictures of what I have tried in Badiani. Do not miss the legendary gelato with my favourite taste are buontalenti, dolce vita, and cremino pistachio. Clean and nice place is another plus point. I recommend this place as a MUST visit gelateria pasticceria when you are in Florence. The comprehensive good quality of taste cleanliness and services deserve 5 stars rating from me. Another plus point is the hospitality, especially from the owner Filippo, who always very friendly and warm welcome every customer with smile.

La Strega Nocciola Gelateria Artigianale, located near the iconic Florence landmarks like the Duomo and Accademia Gallery, stands out for its commitment to artisanal gelato. Just arrived today in Italy and this is the first Gelato I’ve tried of many I will, also first time trying pistacho flavour, I’m very picky with ice creams (ingredients quality, hate the buttery feeling on the palate) and this was surprisingly good 10/10!! It was €3.30 for the single cone, I’m pretty sure there are lots of good gelaterias in Italy but this one highly recommended!
Daniel L — Google review
Oh this gelato was divine. Very affordable price for such good quality gelato. I ordered a small cone and was allowed to have 2 scoops (they were very generous in their scoops too) for around €3. I loved the stracciatella - every mouthful was full of chocolate bits, and the strawberry sorbet - not too sweet, not too tangy, refreshing all around. 11/10 would recommend and I would love to go back for more!!

Sbrino - Gelatificio Contadino is a charming gelateria located in the Oltrano district of Florence, Italy. It has gained popularity among locals and tourists alike for its welcoming atmosphere and delicious gelato flavors. The owner sources milk from his own farm, ensuring high-quality ingredients. Visitors are encouraged to sample all the flavors before making a choice. The pistachio cremino and salted caramel are highly recommended, as well as the fruit-based options.
The gelato here is simply better than any other in Florence! maybe it’s the milk from grass-fed cows, maybe it’s the prime ingredients… anyway, do yourself a favour and try it! do not be tempted by the alcoholic slushes (boozy touristy gimmiks) but go straight to the ice cream! in a cono or coppetta or in a decadent brioche. we had passion fruit (the best ever) and raspberry mojito (raspberry with mint) amarena (sour cherry) melon and apricot. they were all gorgeous! soft and super full of flavour - natural, fruity, not artificial flavour. great place in the Oltrarno!
Anna A — Google review
If you appreciate amazing gelato, you should be swimming across oceans, riding the waves out, walking across deserts, and climbing mountains just to get to Sbrino. This place isn’t just another gelateria, it’s a full-blown experience. From the moment you walk in, you know you’ve landed somewhere special. The gelato? Unreal. Deep, bold flavors made fresh daily with local ingredients. Whether you're diving into something classic like cherry or letting the staff guide you into something unexpected (egg cream, apricot - why not?), it’s pure magic on a spoon. And then there’s Nico and Ale beyond phenomenal. Genuinely warm, effortlessly cool, and clearly passionate about what they do. They’re not just scooping gelato, they’re curating joy. Their energy alone could power Florence for a week. We ended up getting a medium cup each of Almond and Cherry , Apricot Jam and cherry and they tasted beyond amazing. To top it all off, the music was dope, laid-back, vibey, the kind of soundtrack that makes you want to hang out long after your cup is empty. This isn’t just a spot to grab a treat—it’s a place you’ll think about long after you've left. A must. A vibe in its own right. An essential. A destination.

Interesting flavours, had a delicious experience. We had the rice (ok, not my fav), pumpkin seeds (great! Toasty and rich), dark chocolate (wonderful) and pomegranate (didn't love that one). Overall very good experience - despite us not choosing the best matches of flavours to my taste. Definitely one of the best gelatos I've had in Florence.

Sbrino - Gelatificio Contadino is one of the best gelato shops I’ve ever been to! The flavors are rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced — you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. By far the best gelato we’ve had in Italy and probably the best of my life! Creamy and flavorful, yet so light at the same time that we couldn’t get enough of it: we came back here twice in our day trip to Florence. We tried many flavors, I would especially recommend the mango and pineapple.

I had a very good experience at Sbrino. The gelato was truly tast. The texture is one of a kind, incredibly smooth and creamy, unlike anything we’ve tried before. The ambiance inside the shop was also lovely; warm, inviting, and perfect while waiting your turn. I particularly recommend trying their fruity flavors — they’re vibrant, refreshing, and bursting with real fruit taste. Overall, a top-notch gelato spot that I’d happily visit again!

In my opinion, the best gelato in Florence (that I tried) Not only were we captivated by the flavors but the ladies in the shop took amazing care of us. We went here on our way down from the steps and there were no tourists around, that was neat ☺️ Now, the gelato was of great texture and not overly sweet, we particularly enjoyed the zabaglione flavour

Listen, I had Gelato every day while in Florence and have become a Gelato snob. This place should have a line out the door all day!! I got a double scoop that was berry Mojito and strawberry. 10/10 flavor explosion and I will definitely be thinking about it for a long time. My husband got salted caramel and vanilla. The service was great, the gelatos were delicious! We came here at 10pm and there was no wait, but it looked very busy in the afternoon. First time I saw gelatos in the closed tins rather than open buckets (I heard that’s how good quality gelatos should be stored, so that was nice to see).

Had gelato here, really liked the flavours. The place is close the to cathedral, the ordering system is Preet straightforward, that is you just pay for the cone and you get whatever flavours you want for your gelato. We had pistachio + hazelnut and strawberry and chocolate, they were very very tasty but since it was 35 degrees, it started melting in no time and we had to finish it quickly instead of enjoying it slowly. So I recommend getting a cup if you’re going in summers. There’s no seating, that was a bit disappointing, so we had to sit on the road eating this and making a mess of ourselves in this heat. But overall a great place!

Very good gelato, but expensive. I came to Florence from Kaunas (Lithuania) and now after having gelato in some of the legendary spots I can say with pride and relief that it’s not too different from what we have in Kaunas (to locals, I’m talking about Angolo Italiano of course). Anyway I had pistachio gelato, it was rich and smooth and creamy, very very good. Grom was the best gelato I had in Florence.
Gabija C — Google review
Good Italian gelato, and the cool thing is, it’s right around the corner from il duomo The only downside of the great location is that you pay the price of, well, price and crowds. I took one star off because the service was a bit slow and not super friendly when we visited. Plus, there are, in my opinion, better places for gelato but by no means is this a bad place. Love the convenient spot to enjoy some gelato and sights 💫
Foodie H — Google review
The gelato itself was really delicious but the gentleman working there was so rude, I couldn’t fully enjoy the flavors. He wasn’t just passively rude, or just a little unfriendly. He was actively in a very bad mood and clearly taking it out on us. I know that working in that area might become exhausting with tourists that don’t understand the local manners, and with language barriers. Maybe he was just having a bad day… but it seems like there are several other reviews commenting on his attitude. I would try out another gelato place before you come here, if you can— plenty of them in Italy!

Got here only because our tour guide recommended it. It's not bad, but it's nowhere near Venchi and for such a price it should offer something great. Tiramisu ice cream has cookie inside and it wasn't great. On the last note, staff is really kind and helpful.

One of the best gelato in Florence. We just loved it. There is quite a lineup which is understandable because of the authenticity. The cones are handmade and they taste awesome. It’s a very cute small shop but the service is very quick. Highly recommended for the dessert lovers. You cannot get over of this place.

Love the quality of their gelato! I ordered their seasonal pumpkin with chocolate chip- it’s sweet and a bit savory + mango. So good!! The servers were patient and kind and spoke good English. Be sure to read the flavors on the wall, right outside of the store first before ordering to save time for the rest of the customers! Flavors are posted in both Italian and English.

Queue up and treat yourself Yes, the scoops are smaller than what you’ll find next door, but the quality makes up for every bite. Check the flavors of the day posted outside—no preservatives, no food dyes, just pure creamy magic. I had to try the Salted Pistachio after reading rave reviews and wow… it totally lived up to the hype. The Fondante (dark chocolate) was another knockout.
Tina M — Google review
Good gelato, definitely not the best I’ve had here in Italy. However, the taste is a bit unique since they are using bio. Flavours are water based and scoops are a bit smaller compared to some other Gelateria. Overall, recommended still.

Best gelato in Florence! Creamy and delicious, the ingredients are clearly of the highest quality (I also love to know that everything is organic!) I read a couple of reviews about the price, but the extra euro or two compared to nearby shops is worth it for the organic ingredients and the quality of the gelato. I was able to try two flavors before ordering. The salted pistacchio isn’t too salty and it’s delicious. The dark chocolate is creamy and not too sweet, and the nocciola and cannella are classic delicious flavors.

The portion sizes are generous and the location provides excellent views of the Ponte Vecchio.
We stopped here because of all the great ratings and were happy that we did. Great gelato with a good choice of flavors. They also sell chocolate. It’s a bit pricier than other gelaterias but not by much. It’s right by the river which was nice. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

The classic crepe was amazing. Filled with dark chocolate and hazelnuts. The batter was perfectly cooked and didn’t break even with the hot chocolate being added to it. The chocolate chip gelato was amazing and so was the cone that came with it.

The gelato is very tasty, but definetly overpriced. After comparing with my partners order, who got a medium cone, I could see that the medium size cone got way more gelato than the large one I ordered - which is a bit strange. Overall the gelato is very good and I would definitely go back.

Carabè Firenze is a renowned gelato shop located near the Accademia gallery, offering well-crafted Sicilian flavors that have impressed visitors for close to 20 years. The owner, Antonio, hails from Sicily and infuses the gelato with authentic Sicilian inspiration. The shop is particularly famous for its fruit-flavored gelato and sorbet, including mandarin and almond varieties.
Best gelato I’ve had since arriving in Italy! The flavors are creative, natural, and not overly sweet… just perfect. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Prices are very reasonable too. I especially recommend the funnel and ricotta flavor, absolutely delicious!
Jules D — Google review
Great gelateria with awesome flavours and nice variety. Texture is nice, but is not as creamy as I was expecting. Nevertheless you can taste the quality and care that is put in the product. It’s not cheap, but I would still recommend it.
Aljosa T — Google review
Amazing gelato with a Sicilian flair. Unlike many of the other gelato it does not use any dyes or preserves. This place has charm and creativity. I enjoyed the fennel and ricotta ice cream. A must stop for a real flavor

This is the first time I’ve had the cannoli prepared in front of me. It was of course the best one I’ve ever had, being from Ohio, but still travel often. The gelato was my wife’s favorite (pistachio), but I’m sure they’re all fantastic. I’m guessing we’ll get it once more before leaving.
Nate D — Google review
This was probably the best gelato and cannoli we have ever had! The quality is next level and the owner was so friendly! She gave us a few different samples and provided great pairing guidance! We will be back!

This is our favorite place for gelato and granitas! Lori is the kindest owner and always has a beautiful smile. It’s a great combination when the product is delicious and the people sharing it are just as wonderful! We’ll be back next year!

We absolutely love this gelato shop! It’s become our go-to spot in Florence—so good we’ve been back four or five times. The owner is amazing and always so kind and loving with our daughters. The gelato is delicious, and unlike the places that are crowded thanks to social media hype, there’s rarely a long wait. A true hidden gem!
Ted K — Google review
Best place to have granita to remind you of Sicilian flavours and summers. My favourites are the almond, cafè, gelsomino. If you want an authentic granita in Florence this is the place, the others are imitation and there is in art in making granita. Key is quality ingredients, temperature and made with passion.

Sbrino, a relatively new addition to the gelato scene in Florence, has quickly gained popularity with three locations. It is known for its use of local ingredients and a 'farm to table' approach in creating gelato. The shop prioritizes quality by using DOP and DOC ingredients whenever possible. Visitors have praised the excellent service and high-quality, artfully prepared cones at Sbrino's Via San Niccolo 58 location.
very delicious gelato with fun flavors! the employee was very nice and friendly. we recommend taking your gelato to the park and you might meet cosimo the beagle from boston :)

Well deserved 5* review. The best gelato/ice-cream we've ever had. Flavours were so intense, interesting and delicious. We would go every day if we lived here! Everything was amazing but would recommend the salted caramel especially if you would usually go for similar.
Jessa C — Google review
Of all the gelaterie in Firenze, Sbrino is an absolute must. Authentic gelato is stored in traditional pozzetti (covered tins), with a perfectly balanced sweetness that allows the natural flavors to shine. It’s dense, smooth, and creamy, exactly as gelato should be. The pistacchio is a standout: rich, nutty, and unforgettable.
Stephen D — Google review
Really fantastic ice cream at a very reasonable price. Great range of innovative flavours too. I'll definitely be back.
Steve L — Google review
This is the best dairy product I have had in my whole life. The flavors are extremely fresh -- it's clear that they hand make everything on site because of the metal containers they have the gelato in. You can see the small bits of fresh mint and taste the crunch of raspberries each flavor, even the unconventional ones like egg cream, was perfectly balanced. There is no parallel.. The price is very reasonable as well (€3/small cup).

Nestled just a stone's throw from the iconic Duomo on Via dei Servi, Mordilatte is an essential stop for anyone exploring Florence. This charming gelateria prides itself on crafting artisanal ice cream using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, ensuring that every scoop bursts with flavor and quality. With a rotating selection of seasonal flavors like mint, coffee, pistachio, melon, and mango—each made without preservatives or artificial additives—you can indulge guilt-free in their delightful offerings.
I mean, I was at Venice in famous “Suso” I was at Rome,Milan all around Italy. But listen I never had so good gelato ❤️‍🔥 amazing tases all flavors, quality ,service. I was going there every evening 🙂 Highly recommend you need try this perfection.

This is literally the best ice cream in Town!!! If I could I would give this Place a 10 out of 5 Stars. The sellers are really polite and nice
Oliver S — Google review
Just went to this ice cream place due to its good ratings and busyness. Sadly I got a tiny ice cream for an absurd amount of 3,30€ whilst my Italian friend got an ice cream pretty much double the size for 20 cents more. Don’t really understand why we were treated so differently… the ice itself was good though, hence 2 instead of 1 star…
Ben K — Google review
Excellent gelato! Beautiful texture. Flavours are nice and many experimental. Melon was nice (wish it was fraction sweeter), lime/mint/ginger was great and goes nicely with the sweet cioccolato. Mordilatte was neutral, I think maybe it is overpowered by most flavours so I couldn't really taste it. There are some alcohol flavours, so do ask before, and the server will assist. Local place so it's not large, but has cute outdoor seating for community. Locals are lucky to have a taste gelato place!

Best Gelato in Florence. We were allowed to sample as many as we wanted while we made up our minds. They were all delicious! Don’t forget to pat and thank the cow on your way out.
Peter D — Google review
Excellent gelato at the busy Mordilatte. The texture is perfect: soft, creamy, melt instantly. I say that because other average gelaterias around the neighbourhood aren’t that busy and therefore their ice creams get hard and feels like supermarket bought stuff. Worth a stopover if you are in the area!

RivaReno Gelato Firenze is a popular gelateria located in Florence, Italy. It offers a variety of delicious flavors including chocolate and sorbets, with the almond flavor being a standout choice. The Santo Spirito location has recently undergone a redesign but still maintains its artisanal quality. One must-try flavor is the crema, known for its smooth and creamy texture.
We've seen the tiktok for the other gelato place and there was a line of tourists to prove it. We weren't going to wait so we discovered our new favorite gelato place in Firenze... it's been unseasonably hot for June so we've been to many different gelatos while here. RivaReno is officially our favorite. Their espresso and crema gelato is the perfect blend of pick me up and cool me down. And we have to always try the city favorite..pistachio! What a fantastic find.. we've got 3 days left.. we'll be back for more!
Doyle D — Google review
I had a truly wonderful experience trying the combination of salted pistachio with white chocolate and hazelnut. The salty-sweet contrast of the pistachio was a perfect counterpoint to the creamy richness of the white chocolate, and the nutty hazelnut flavor tied everything together beautifully. It was a delightful discovery, and I can't wait to have it again.

I had gelato in quite a lot of places in Italy, but this is one of the best gelato I've ever had. Please try the cremino rivareno! It's so creamy that it is more like a cold cream than an icecream!

We loved it! Couldn’t find the place we were going to (another one we love) because it was Sunday. And ended up here, my partner who loves coffee liked his affogato more than regular coffee ice cream, and I loved mine too. There was a lot of people, and I found it a bit pricey compared to others.

The best gelato in Florence. We stopped by every day of our trip (sometimes even twice a day), the owner was very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. The pistachio salato (salted) and strachiatella were AMAZING. We traveled to another area of Italy after Florence and none compared to this gelato.

Venchi, a renowned chocolate and gelato shop, has a location in Piazza del Mercato Nuovo, offering high-quality artisanal chocolate and all-natural ice cream. The store features an educational area that showcases the history and production process of chocolate. Established in 1878 as a chocolate shop, Venchi expanded to include gelato in 2007 with the aim of celebrating chocolate in various forms.
I visited the Venchi outlet located inside the Florence train station a few times on my visit to Florence and it was excellent. I had their hot chocolate as well as a gelato and it was excellent. The staff too was very good here.
Aatish B — Google review
It's a relatively smaller Venchi shop, located within the train terminal. If you're looking for some last minute standard offerings, this will be good enough. However, if you're looking for a wider product offering, you're better off visiting one of the spots located amongst the touristy centres. Gelato was great, as with all other outlets. Was served by an Asian chap who was extremely friendly and patient with our asks.

Looks amazing and the chocolate & gelato taste even better 😋 I received excellent service from Kimberly who spoke fluent English and helped me choose. I only realized she was a trainee after seeing her name tag, but she seemed like a pro employee explaining the size, topping, and flavor options. I ended up getting a medium with dark chocolate inside the cup along with 3 flavors - mango, dark chocolate, and strawberry 🤩 it was sooooooo good. You can't go wrong with anything here! Glad I got to take this onto my train ride to Cinque Terre. Thank you for the delicious-ness!

Vestri cioccolato d'autore is a renowned chocolate shop that has gained popularity in Italy, particularly in Florence. Despite being relatively new, it has garnered recognition through various competitions and is considered one of the best chocolate shops in the city. The family-owned business, with its origins in Arezzo, is now well-established in Florence under the supervision of second-generation expert Leonardo.
This shop has the best gelato in town! My wife and I have tried other recommended places around town and even in Fiesole and none can compare. It’s a cute, serene little oasis in what can often be a rather chaotic city. The lady who runs the shop is the kindest and most generous person you’ll meet. When we first happened upon it, we thought we ventured into a studio Ghibli fantasy of a Florence gelato shop and it became our quotidien stop in a month long stay :)
Tyler F — Google review
They have so much chocolate here! There's no sitting area here, so take note that it's more of a grab and go location, whether packed chocolates or their hot chocolate in a cup. Unlike the more commercial Venchi or Stratti, this feels a little more nonna-style, more local. The location probably also gave it away that they're not as centrally located. Price points are reasonable, like everyone else. That said, it's one of those spots that in my humble opinion, is worth while dropping by if you're in the area, but not something that I'd intentionally go out of the way for.

Judging by the other adjacent businesses that we loved (restaurant and cafe) we thought this would also be good to try. All I can say is the portions were small and the price was high. I thought the short-haired lady really was stingy on the portions for what I paid, and it really made me so mad I didn’t really care if it was good or not. The best place I have found in Italy/France for the best price/portion ratio and decent quality is Amorino, which is a chain. The locally owned shops are stingy especially around the tourist areas.

This is the real deal!!! Everything tasted so fresh and pure and sweet and creamy and amazing. I was so sad to just get a small. Loved that the cannoli shells were not stuffed. That is the sign of a good bakery. They have to be filled to order so the shell stays crispy.

Surprisingly great ice cream. Even the vegan ones were pretty good. Tried the apricot one (tasted like dried apricots), the almond which was pretty good and vanilla which was also very good. Had an espresso too which was nice. The staff is super friendly even when struggling with English a little bit. The ice cream was so cheap first we thought the prices were only for the cones. Two flavours cost 3 euros

I found this place while going to see Michelangelo’s David, and I’m so glad I did. Their gelato is so good, and they have great customer service. The first time I got their clementine & orange and mixed berries, which I hadn’t seen offered in other gelato places. Both were delicious! Their clementine & orange is my favorite gelato flavor I tried on my whole trip. The bottom of the barrel. Just wait on line at Vivoli if you’re coming for an affogato. They’re stingy with the pistachio anddd the gelato is just meh. The boss was so kind he put the chair to eat comfortably. My family was satisfied. I ate the medium size with yogurt and strawberry flavor which is 3.9 euro. The price was very reasonable. I recommend it !!

Absolutely delicious gelato, and very well priced. 2.90€ for the small tub with 2 flavours, but honestly you don’t need any bigger. So many unique flavours to chose from, and all looking as tasty as the last. Would definitely recommend!

Gelato, gelato, gelato! Perfect place serving awesome stuff. I must emphasise that the guy giving ice-cream to us was, is, has been a master at his craft. The way he explained details of ice-cream to us was breathtaking. It is a must to visit this place.

We had Gelato at another store and were disappointed so we tried here. It was much better. No line, no waiting. We visited here twice it was so good. This was also the only place we saw with banana flavor. About the best we had in Florence.
Kathleen R — Google review
Very nice gelatos. I had the litchi one and it was amazing. The other flavours of yogurt and coconut were amazing as well. For the second size of 3.9 eur it felt as if the difference of size between 2.9 and 3.9 eur one was not very big.
Vitesh S — Google review
Dark chocolate flavour was amazing, matcha flavour was decent - tasted like a creamy green tea ice cream
Tian L — Google review
As we had just got here from San Gimignano, we wanted to compare gelatos. This place, in our opinion, was much better. As the lines were smaller and the service much more personalized, this helped us to try a few flavours and make more of an ‘unrushed’ choice. We settled on a dark chocolate and coconut in one, and a strawberry and mango in the other. Wow, fresh and flavourful. They also have small benches set up out front. Highly recommended.

Too many flavours to choose but we go for classic refreshing limone and IL persiano (rose water, saffron & roasted pistachio). Perfect to cool down during summertime. Loved it!

Arà: è Sicilia is a cozy and informal eatery in Sant'Ambrogio, Florence, offering a taste of authentic Sicilian street food and desserts. The menu features plump arancini stuffed with meaty ragu and melted cheese, as well as delectable cannoli and refreshing lemon granita. Chef Carmelo Pannocchietti has created a local favorite that attracts both residents and tourists seeking genuine Sicilian flavors.
We never came to the physical store but we had the Ara e Sicilia products when we were at the Il Mercato Centrale Firenze. I ended up ordering a Cannoli and we shared some arancini which were both fantastic. The young lady working there was so nice as well. Highly recommend, especially the arancini! 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
MJG — Google review
One of the best Arancini I had in my life till now. The young lady behind the counter was so nice and kind. My only regret was not trying their cannoli. If you are going to see the David, make a stop here and trust me you will thank me.
Koel G — Google review
Visited this place based on online recommendations, but I’d suggest skipping it. Surprisingly, there was no queue — which probably should’ve been a sign. The staff was rude. I tried the arancini ball: it was cold, tasted just okay, and cost €3.90. Definitely not worth the price or the stop.
L C — Google review
Absolutely delicious! The classic cannoli is a must try, it has won awards and very well worth it!
Irene B — Google review
We came for the cannoli, and the cannoli didn’t disappoint! It is filled fresh so the shell remains crunchy. It was a good, quick snack. The shop looked like they had some other yummy dishes as well. Very cute ambiance.
Kassidy L — Google review
I wasn't hungry for a full meal so I decided to try the arancini as a quick snack before my scheduled tour. This shop was highly reviewed so I thought, perfect option. I ordered 1 spinach filled and a classic arancini which I was told was filled with eggplant. The spinach was by far my favorite and while they were still slightly warm, it would have been perfect had they come freshly made or toasted in the over for maximum crispiness. The second to my surprise, was filled with a type of fish, not eggplant. It was still tasty but not what I was expecting. Service was okay, but it was near the end of the day and their eagerness to welcome customers or address their questions felt lacking. Overall, I was happy that I stopped by and would recommend visiting this little shop.
Em S — Google review
The squid ink arancino was beautifully flavoured if somewhat high on salt. The cake too was delicious but a bit high on sugar. The pistachio and ricotta ice cream was simply excellent.
Floyd C — Google review
Best cannoli I have ever tried anywhere! The filling was amazing and we had to go back another day just to eat one more. The arancini is also one of the best I have ever eaten. We tried the ham and the eggplant one, and as a vegetarian who does not like eggplant, mine was so so good!! I have already recommended this place to so many friends The only down side is that it is a small place, so arrive early if you want a table or you can order to go like many Italians do

Gelateria Caminia Giannotti is a charming, family-owned gelato shop located near the Gavinana area in Florence. Since 1987, this old-school gelateria has been serving locals with over 30 varieties of high-quality, natural flavors. The shop is now managed by Lavinia, the passionate daughter who is dedicated to maintaining the tradition of using quality ingredients.
The most delicious icecream and frozen yogurt! We read some negative reviews about the service but we did not experience this, people were nice and helpfull!

Vowed to have a gelato in florence, it feels like one should. Randomly picked this place. Had choc mint and cheesecake ice cream in a tub. Does not sound like would go but was divine. Bellisimo. Omg thought would eat a bit and chuck because too many calories. Ate whole tub. Thick like a New York cheesecake with strong, juicy cherries and big bits of chocolate in the mint choc. My head is now turned to gelato despite the damage to the waistline. If you want gelato no question. This is the place to go on a mission to find. Think around 6 euros but could be wrong cannot quite tell from payments in app.

A good selection of ice creams made by the shop. I was disappointed that they didn't have caramel which is my personal favourite. However there was still a good variety to chose from. I would however say that scoops were not as generous this time than they have been in the past. This was commented on by a number of people!

We came here based on a recommendation from locals. So from the taste experience the ice cream was fantastic. But from the service side we were disappointed. The first salesman didn't wanted to serve us because we are no native speakers. His colleague spoke english with us. But additional to this we had also the feeling of discrimination compared to the other guests. Especially when comparing their amount of ice cream in the waffle to ours... So what a pitty and I guess we will go to the other gelati place where we had not this feeling.

Gelatarium, located near Piazza Duomo, is a charming spot where you can create your own gelato and enjoy it in a serene blue-themed setting. The ice cream here is prepared with higher temperatures, resulting in intense flavors with less sugar needed. Customers rave about the delicious and creamy offerings, with the Mandarino flavor being a standout. In addition to ice cream, Gelatarium also offers bakery items and smoothies. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff who make each visit enjoyable.
The food is tasty and fair priced. The salad was tasty, but we would recommend you to order two mains. The service is outstanding. The staff is sooooo friendly. Seating area is quite nice and air conditioned. The „self-served“ ice cream is quite an experience and also tastes very good. Over all a good spot for a quick escape from the hectic of the tourist program.
Amitabh B — Google review
Ice cream tasted good but not the gelato I'm used to in Italy. Self service place so you build your own ice cream serving. Nice concept but not so good execution: not so many options to choose from. And staff were quite pushy.
Nea-Maria T — Google review
Cool place for self serve gelato (soft serve type) in a fun place. Colorful Leon candies drew us in to the store and we bought crazy amount of candies as gifts. They gave us tasting of lavender color candies and it was delicious! Self serve gelato was sold by weight and looked delicious. It was nice to escape from heat since the place was air conditioned. Super friendly staff, fun atmosphere, and delicious desserts.

Super friendly and chatty staff, very good value for money. The fresh gelato was amazing, really light and creamy and the toppings station was such a nice touch. The serve yourself aspect was interesting too. Would 100% return and recommend

Nice place to preparé your own ice cream. There are not many favours but they are produced without artificial ingredients. The price of the ice cream depends of its weight. Toppings can be added as well. There is place to sit and the ambiance is good. In the same place you can have coffee. I liked this place.

Incredible! It is definitely the place I’ll recommend to all my friends coming to Florence. I was just walking on the street trying to find some healthy gelato in a calm environment and just found this amazing spot. The staff was fantastic, very nice and available to explain their work while not forcing me to buy (I said I didn’t want to pay too much and they explained how much the amount I wanted might cost). I ended up paying less than 3€ for an amazing self served ice cream (which was an amazing experience). Also, the ice cream is not deepfrozen and really tasty. Plus, no extra tax for staying inside and the whole environment of the place is a very special experience. One hundred stars

Bella Italia Ice Cream, located in Chianti, is known for its exceptional homemade gelato. The ice-cream chef, Simone, is praised for his passion and willingness to engage with customers. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff who provide helpful recommendations on flavors and portion sizes. The unique combinations of flavors such as Fichi and Pear are highly recommended by patrons. Additionally, the charming ambiance allows guests to savor their delicious gelato while enjoying scenic views.
We were greeted by a super friendly staff member who happily allowed us samples of several flavours to try. The prices were very reasonable, and the portions were generous. He even pointed out a little outdoor spot where we could sit and enjoy. The lavender cream and melon flavours were absolutely delicious! I went with lavender and vanilla, while my partner had melon and mango — both perfect choices! 🍨✨️

One of the better gelato shops. Their Oreo was excellent. Their hazelnut was okay but light on sugar. Good price 5 euroes for 2 scoops and water is 1.50. Would go again.

Badiani Gelato Firenze, a renowned gelato shop in Florence, has been delighting locals for years with its high-quality and incredible flavors. While classic options like buontalenti, pistacchio, and stracciatella are available, the shop also offers seasonal specialties. Visitors praise the exceptional quality of the gelato and recommend trying the signature buontalenti flavor or exploring unique combinations like banana, kiwi, spinach.
Brought my family here on a tour of the city. I had the pistachio and a scoop of lemon gelati. They were both out of this world. I am a huge fan of both flavors, but Lemon is something I must have wherever I see it. Badiani has the very best lemon (and I do not say that lightly), that I have ever had. It's super smooth and creamy, a perfect balance of lemon and sweet, truly satisfying. I will dream about this until I can return to Firenze. And have it again. The pistachio in its own right, should not be diminished by my praise of the lemon. It was outstanding as well. Less sweet, as I would expect, very creamy, and surprisingly was not bad when mixed with a little of the lemon. I didn't think they would pair, but they do. A wonderful experience....5 stars! Others in my crew got the pistachio filled croissant which was outstanding also.
Giovanni P — Google review
Tried their pistachio and chocolate flavors, but honestly found them underwhelming. Both were a bit too sweet for my taste, and I was surprised to find out they use eggs in their gelato — something I usually avoid. The texture was decent, but the flavor didn’t quite live up to the hype. I’ve had much better gelato elsewhere in Italy, so this one didn’t leave a lasting impression. Not sure what the fuss is all about.
Phalguni — Google review
Good, but not great gelato. With so many amazing options in Florence, this one ended up near the bottom of my list — definitely not top 5. The Buontalenti flavour was excellent and worth trying, but the other flavors, while good, didn’t stand out compared to what you can find in a solid gelateria back in Canada/US. In addition to that, the service was a bit odd: the ladies in front of me were offered samples of pretty much every flavor, but when it was my turn I was cut off after three with a sharp ‘that’s enough, order now’ type of response from the gentleman. Funny moment, but it left me wondering if the treatment would’ve been different otherwise.

Best gelato we’ve had so far in Florence. Service is nice and friendly service!!!! Better seating than the duomo area. More relaxed. Better gelato than any we’ve tried in Sorrento.

Good price excellent flavor ranges, recommend their pistachio creation, it’s different than the ones in other gelaterias. Good price and nice service.

I had a few minutes before our tour left the city and stepped in her randomly. I got a scoop of "La Dolcevia" (buontalenti flavour with hazelnut and chocolate sauce, apparently a winning flavour at Gelato Festival, though the flavours were quite subtle and I wasn't super duper impressed) and Arachide Salata - a scoop of salted peanuts gelato, which I really enjoyed!
Eileen W — Google review
The gelato here is so refreshing and tasty!! The strawberry was delicious!! The lady serving didn’t mind us trying the flavors and we did not have to pay to have a seat!

The attentive service includes English explanations of the menu and ensures a pleasant dining experience.
Very nice place to eat closeby the sinagogue. They give you water and bread to start with and this bread is just something different (very tasty😋). The pasta was very al dente, I think it could have been cooked a bit longer (but thats not enough to give it anything lower than 5 stars). The traditional Sicilian Canella was absolutely mouth watering😍. Overall would recommend the place☀️

Service was great. Lasagna was not very hot and cooled down very quickly because the plate was cold. The pizza was nice. We also ordered the tiramisu but it was not tasty at all. The ladyfingers were completely soaked in cold watery coffee, which dripped out when taking a bite. Unfortunately, the tiramisu was not a coherent dish but two different components that did not complement eachother. I prefer supermarket tiramisu over this one...

After wandering through Florence in the thick Tuscan heat with our family in tow, we stumbled into Arà looking more than a little sunburned and hungry. Thankfully, this cozy Sicilian spot turned out to be just what we needed. The staff greeted us warmly and never made us feel rushed or like a burden, even though we were clearly exhausted and not at our most graceful. The food was fresh, simple, and delicious—no flashy gimmicks, just good, honest cooking with bold Sicilian flavors. We especially appreciated that the staff were willing to go off-menu for us. One of our family members had a specific request, and without hesitation, the kitchen came through with a custom dish that turned out to be one of the highlights of the meal. That kind of flexibility and attention goes a long way when you’re traveling with kids or picky eaters. It was still quite warm inside (air conditioning in Florence seems optional everywhere), but the atmosphere and service made up for it. Arà isn’t trying to be a fine dining destination—it’s a laid-back, welcoming place with real heart and satisfying food. Would absolutely return, especially when looking for a casual and genuine meal in the Santa Croce area.

My husband and I stumbled upon Aŕa while we were exploring the area around our Airbnb upon our first arrival in Florence. It is a beautiful little bistro/restaurant that has inside and outdoor seating. Our server was Meri, and she was so kind and patient with my broken italian language. She spoke Spanish and English with me because my italian was not so good. Meri brought us delicious antipastos and her service was attentive. The food was great, but it was Meri who made us want to go back. We have been back many times during our two week stay. The limoncello spritzers are to die for.
