Jogging Paths & Tracks
Point Pleasant Park is a lush 75-hectare park located at the southern tip of Halifax peninsula. It features scenic trails, historic fort ruins, and a charming tower. Visitors can enjoy small beaches and shorelines for sunbathing and beachcombing. For a tranquil experience, travelers can explore the Victorian-era Halifax Public Gardens nearby. The park offers a serene escape with its tree-lined paths and opportunities to appreciate the coastal beauty without taking a plunge into the ocean.
A very nice place for a quiet walk. There are many places to sit. Very comfortable paths for jogging or walking the dog. Cyclists are permitted to ride on designated trails during Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. My wife and I came here when it was drizzling and a bit "stormy" near the shore, but it was even cool. Very nice and pleasant sea air. There are several small parking lots near entrances to the park. Several interesting historical places and monuments. Overall, a great place, I recommend visiting if you really have at least an extra 3 hours.

Point Pleasant Park is a large, 75-hectare (190-acre) municipal park located at the southern tip of the Halifax Peninsula in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a popular recreational destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a variety of activities and attractions. The park features a variety of trails for walking, running, and biking, as well as a beach for swimming, off-leash dog walking areas, and picnic tables. There are also several historical sites in the park, including the Prince of Wales Tower, the oldest Martello tower in North America, and the ruins of several forts. The park is open from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, and admission is free.
Banafsheh K — Google review
Prepare yourself for a long walk with a scenic view. I'm impressed with how they maintain the cleanliness of the park. You can bring your dogs too. It's like a haven for dogs and dog owners.
Grace C — Google review
Nice stop when visiting Point Pleasant Park but not a must see thing when in Halifax. If you have spare time, this is a good place for a nice walk or for a run. You can also bring food and have a picnic or if you have a dog, this is a perfect friendly park to walk dogs. There is no restaurant or cafe inside the park so make sure to bring your own food and drinks if you plan to do a lot of walking. They have portalet washroom all over the park which is good for emergency use :) You can take a bus to go here, but you still have to walk about 15 minutes to get inside the park. The bus do not enter inside the park itself.
Just T — Google review
This park is gorgeous and very big. There is plenty of wheelchair parking. It's easy to stroll around in a wheelchair and even better on a bicycle. Be prepared to sweat up and down the multiple walkways if walking. The waterfront view goes on for quite the kilometers. The same is true with the forest scenery. The historical sites are interesting. There are benches and tables to sit and enjoy a picnic. The bathroom facilities could be better taken care of, as they're quite smelly and poorly maintained. I recommend visiting this park if you want to just relax and let your eyes enjoy the beauty of nature.
Katya A — Google review
About 4km walk there, one route past the harbour and many trucks- not nice. Park is pleasant with winding paths and tracks. Goop place, once you arrive there.
Vincent O — Google review
Came here on a rainy cloudy day🌨️🌨️ Park was still gorgeous despite the weather. It’s a great place to enjoy amazing views of the ocean and to go on a stroll with friends, pets or by yourself! Park is very large and has several porta-potties around in case you need to go to the washroom. There is a variety of wildlife to see here such as birds and squirrels!🦅🐿️

Tons of nice trails and waterfront walking, lots of sealife you can see even from just off the trail. We didn't have our dog but other people did and they loved it. The trails can get rocky at points but its well worth it. Went in early July hoping to swim but it was WAY too cold

Brewery
Garrison Brewing Company is a popular brewery located in downtown Halifax by the harbor, offering a great spot to enjoy beers with friends and explore nearby shops. They provide kegs, growlers, merchandise, and beer tours. Additionally, they host an annual Home Brew-Off Challenge where participants can submit their own beer recipes for a chance to have them produced as limited edition seasonal products. The brewery also offers tasting flights next to Halifax Seaport Farmers Market for those interested in craft brewing.
Visited after walking down the boardwalk from our hotel. They had a great selection of beers for doing flights (my wife and I tried 9 beers and a cider). The staff were friendly and helpful as well. A good selection of cans to take away as well. Be aware there is no food (which was fine with me).
Jason D — Google review
Great location but no food and we were 4 people doing the taste test and we were disappointed. see photos of our ratings for summer 2025 on tap. Top left beer glass is the right hand beer tap in photo. To pair, go one in, in opposite directions in photo so when you finish, the bottom left glass is the most left tap in photo

Cool Brewpub right outside the cruise port at pier 20. Excellent selection of draughts. Coolers full of singles, sixers, and 12 packs. A good selection of non-alcoholic choices as well. A large sized merchandise store with all sorts of goodies. Great place to hang out until the last second before the gangway goes up. Great patio area to enjoy your choice. Cheers.
Tony S — Google review
The first place you see as you leave the cruise port. Huge space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings. Big selection. They even have a 13-flight! Friendly staff and delicious beers.
K T — Google review
Beer. You like beer? They've got beer. Looooots of beer. Great selection and great tasting! They also have cans that you can buy separately if you like something you tried enough and want to take some home. Staff were also friendly, and the music they had going was great!

Garrison Brewing Co. really impressed us with its welcoming atmosphere and top-tier beer. We ordered a big flight to try as much as possible and ended up leaving with even more beer to enjoy later. Some standout brews for us were QueerBerry, All Lit Up, Hawaiian Crush, PB&J, Hoppy Boy, and Georgia Peach—so many fun and flavourful options. And it’s not just the beer that caught my eye—I loved the merch so much, I left with a cool purple graphic tee that I’ll definitely be rocking back home. Also dog-friendly! So we’ll be bringing our pup here when we’re back in the area. If you’re brewery-hopping in Halifax, don’t skip this one!
Mike J — Google review
Stopped here on a whim and I’m SO glad I did. The Blush berry cider was crisp, sweet, refreshing, and has become my favourite cider. Makes me really sad I can’t find any in Toronto!
Sam S — Google review
If you arrive to Halifax by cruise ship, you can't miss Garrison because it's right on the pier where you dock. I intentionally left Garrison as my last stop on my mini brewery tour of Halifax, so, if needed, I could just crawl back to my ship. Luckily, that wasn't required, but it was a nice way to end my day at their beautiful waterside brewery. Their beers were all good, nothing amazing or particularly weak- everything was just solid. My 4 star rating is primarily based on their beer quality, ambiance, and overall experience (all good) as I did not eat any of their food. My favorite beer was the Lil Juicy New England IPA and my least favorite was the Vulcan Ale Genesis Effect Session. I was able to snag an outside table under an umbrella, with a great view of my ship and all the crew and passengers coming and going. They offer beer flights that have 5 5oz tastes. The day I was there, they had 13 beers on tap- plenty of different styles and flavors to choose from. Definitely recommend a stop at Garrison.

Nature & Parks
Long Lake Provincial Park, located just 15 minutes from downtown Halifax, offers a diverse natural experience with its streams, rivers, lakes, and unfinished backroads. Visitors can enjoy activities like birdwatching, hiking, biking, swimming, boating (including paddleboat rentals), and observing local wildlife such as beaver dams. Stand-up paddle boarding is a popular activity at the park's Long Lake. The dog-friendly park also provides opportunities for fishing, camping, geocaching and more.
Long Lake Provincial Park in Halifax is a beautiful winter retreat. In winter, the frozen lakes are perfect for ice skating, while the surrounding trails are ideal for cross-country skiing and winter hikes. The park is known not only for its natural beauty but also for its rich history. During World War I, military fortifications were set up here to protect the city. It is also traditional land of the Indigenous peoples, who used these waters for fishing and hunting. With abundant fish in the lakes and a peaceful winter atmosphere, Long Lake is the perfect place to enjoy both nature and history. A true gem for locals and city guests.

Great provincial park for any daily activity. It isnt a small area or lake either. I've enjoyed paddleboarding and dog walking there this summer. The water is not cold to me (Alberta girl here) so I'm often on my board until we'll after 6pm. I've been told to always wear water shoes in this lake due to lost of old fishing lines etc in the water. So I do that.
Marcie F — Google review
A very interesting hike! The starting point is next to the second-hand market and the course takes about 2 hours. Recommended for new hikers! It is possible to see small waterfalls and streams, observe different plants, there are no existing paths and many times it is necessary to walk on grassy areas with tree roots. Hiking navigation app can be used. Comfortable shoes, light and breathable clothes are recommended (the woods have a lot of humidity), refreshing drinks and energy bars. Enjoy your hike!
Sherry — Google review
Beautiful and picturesque trail along the lake with couple of view points to enjoy. We also found some wild blueberry bushes on our way and stopped to take photos of them. There’s also a canoe rental place that you can rent a canoe and paddle in the lake. Strongly recommended to anyone enjoying the nature.
Alaleh F — Google review
A trail lover's dream come true. So many places to visit and do many different ways it can change depending on the time of year so the main trail is never boring. Great for biking, walking, running and ATVb lovers. Tip : The loops (off main trail) are super fun but watch out for bear and moose
The A — Google review
Well maintained trail and great views. This is an amazing spot to enjoy the sunset. The trail is quite long but with frequent spots to sit and rest. There is an ample spaces for cars in the parking lot too. Great place will regularly go there for sure.
Jaipreet H — Google review
It has great trails through the woods in a peaceful setting, however over the past year or so it has gotten really busy with the addition of the trail along the northwest arm drive that is basically a 10ft wide gravel road. There are still trails throughout that are more natural though.
Dalton L — Google review
Long lake is definitely one of my favourite lakes for swimming, probably #1. It's absolutely ginormous, and is surrounded by flat rocks for lounging. Also a great spot for hiking the perimeter of the lake. Also having it be a 10 min drive from downtown makes it pretty unbeatable.

The Brown Hound Public House is a relaxed bar that offers small snacks, hamburgers, and desserts. They also have a selection of draft beer and special deals during happy hour. If you're in Lunenburg and craving fish and chips, the South Shore Fish Shack is a popular choice. But if you're in Halifax, head over to The Brown Hound for some of the best British-style fish and chips in town.
I had visited the downtown location a few weeks back and had an amazing experience, and tonight at the Agricola location was no different. This location is so warm and cozy. With the pub booming with chatter from all the people inside. I ordered up the Burger and fries with a side of gravy. The burger was thick, and juicy and topped perfectly. I couldn’t put it down. The fries at the brown hound are next to none. Even though they may come frozen in a box, I have never, ever had them before. Steak cut, double beer battered and salted just right. Paired with a side of gravy is the way to indulge these amazing strips of potato. This may become a go to for my friend and I as she has finally found a good Beef Dip on the east coast! Her words. Thank you to the friendly and attentive staff!
Justin R — Google review
Had the fish and chips at The Brown Hound Public House and they were amazing. The fish was super crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, and the fries were spot on. Honestly one of the best pub I’ve had in Halifax. On top of that, our waiter was so friendly and easygoing which made the whole experience even better
SleepingDino — Google review
A perfect little pub to visit anytime of the year. The atmosphere is exactly what you want it to be from the decor to the service It was all quite pleasant. The food was classic pub style with its own kick of personality, would highly recommended to anyone travelling through
Hadyn A — Google review
This is a great little “watering hole” in the North End. Been to this location a few times. The service is always super good, even when it’s busy. Staff are knowledgeable about the taps, the drinks and the food. They also do a great job with allergies if that is something you need. I was in last Sunday, so it was medium busy, and the sever who was also the bartender was phenomenal. I had the GF chicken burger, which was pretty good. The bun did fall apart and it was messy, but that’s the GF life for you. lol It had decent flavour the salt was overpowering which is why it was ranked a 4. Ciders on tap! Which is lovely! They often offer one local and one from another location if they can. Will be back!

Great vibes! Amazing north end bar to try. Their washroom is so crazy that I took picture of. . Love this interior. Their beer and foods are amazing - recommend their fries!

Hemlock Ravine Park, located in Halifax, is a 200-acre nature park known for its heart-shaped pond and ancient hemlock trees. The park offers 4 kilometers of looped trails, some of which are designated as off-leash areas for dogs. Visitors can enjoy the shade provided by the towering hemlocks while taking leisurely walks or going for a jog. The famous Heart Shaped Pond, built by Prince Edward for his love, Madame Julie de St.
This is a beautiful area with walking trails and a one-of-a-kind heart-shaped pond. It's an excellent spot for nature enthusiasts of any age, and especially nice for dog-walking.
Lauren W — Google review
Hemlock Ravine Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The trails are well-kept and lead you through serene forest areas filled with towering hemlock trees. The heart-shaped pond adds a unique and charming touch to the park, perfect for photos or a peaceful moment. It’s a great spot for casual hikes, dog walks, or simply enjoying some quiet time in nature. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy some natural beauty close to Halifax.
Ali H — Google review
Been a while since I have been here, but positively surprised that the parking lot is now paved and spots marked with lines. Before that, I always wondered what people were thinking when parking, as so much space was wasted. Very nice now, even designated motorcycle parking. No designated RV parking, and unless it is a Van, I do now recommend driving up here. Not much space to turn around when parking lot is full, and narrow road. Lots of different hikes, for different needs. Short , or long by combining a few. Signage indicating which trail you are on and where you are, as well as when the dog leash area starts and stops. Very quiet, and mostly gravel paths, very easy to walk. Lots of shade thanks to the trees, unless it’s a hot summer day, maybe bring a light sweater. Bring bug spray! Benches with garbage bins spread out during the park. No washrooms or stores nearby. People live along the road, and I have seen busy days where parking was full, and people just parked in front of people’s houses or drive ways. Don’t do that!
Marie — Google review
I like this spot and really enjoyed the nature here. The trail was not very long but good enough for small hiking. It was my first time there and I was expecting to see more natural views. All the scenes were the same but still had a good time. Was super busy when we got there... seems like it’s a super popular place for everyone. This park is not very far from my home so probably will go back sometimes!
Carrie G — Google review
Great little walking path. Met a few very well behaved dogs on the off leash section. Maintained well, very safe easy walk. The duck pond was super cute too.
Tracey C — Google review
The trails look like looping around but they are not always. Well marked at turns and joints of the paths, but it's quite easy yet tempting to go off the trail. During summer time, walking with the brook babbling in the background can be very soothing. While during the winter season, trails are not under maintenance, so always put on the proper hiking boots for the ice and/or stumps.
Jolly R — Google review
A very enjoyable walk/hike for pets, kids and adults. There are plenty of hills but also different trail options depending on your preference. On and off-leash areas are marked (although most dogs are off leash throughout) and there are a few benches near the parking lot by the pond. Parking is limited so arrive early and if headed there in the winter, I'd suggest packing a pair of crampons as the hills can be very icy.
Katie E — Google review
Nice park for a hike in the woods. Just small trails and woods, nothing else. So, came prepared because there's no washroom neither water (at least where we went). There is a good size of it where you can take your fur off leash. Lots of ups and downs for a good exercise. It is close to a school so your kid can have some fun before or after the walk. Really quiet. Be aware of the mosquitoes too, there is a lot of them.

Nature & Parks
Fort Needham Memorial Park, located in Dartmouth, is a tribute to the Halifax Explosion of 1917. It was established in the 1950s as part of the neighborhood's rebuilding efforts after the devastation caused by the explosion. The park features a memorial Bell Tower and hosts an annual memorial service on December 6th, commemorating the day of the explosion.
Very nice place to go for a walk, take your dog, or play sports. It has a few access points and a small parking lot. But street parking is also available within couple minutes. The park is in the heart of the city and is surrounded by lots of houses and streets.
Qasem — Google review
A great place for taking kids out and having some workout on the playground. The lawn is pretty friendly to the fur families. Not much of a trail or hike though. The autumn vibe up from the hill is meditation.
Jolly R — Google review
A park with a long history and a peaceful atmosphere, connected to the playground next door for walks and dog walks.

Very peaceful place, always nice to stroll around, good view of the harbour. High up to enjoy sunset and sunrise.

This is a hidden nice park sitting on a small hill in the north end of Halifax. Great for a leisure stroll with your friends or family on a beautiful sunny day and escape the hustle and bustle of the city life. The bell tower monument represents the victim who lost their lives in the Halifax Explosion a hundred years ago. You can overlook the view across the Halifax harbour and see part of Dartmouth downtown.
Kitty K — Google review
We arrived as the bells chimed 10am, it was really nice. Wonderful natural playground made out of logs and wooden structures and a big field to run around. My daughter wants to keep going back to it. She especially liked the rock climbing wall that once on top, you can go down a slide to come back down. Did that more than a few times!

Very nice park setting. Well taken care off and of course the memorial which is a sad reminder of what happened in the city on December 6th of 1917.

The Westin Nova Scotian is an elegant waterfront hotel located in downtown Halifax, offering comfortable rooms with complimentary WiFi, as well as an indoor pool and dining options. Overlooking the Halifax Harbor and cruise ship terminal, this historic property was built in 1928 as part of the Canadian National Railways collection of Grand Railway Hotels. The hotel's classic elegance is complemented by modern amenities, providing guests with a sense of luxury and heritage.
We missed our connecting flight and ended up booking last minute at the hotel. I shared the situation and the guest services advisor Maria made sure we had an amazing overnight stay by providing cheesecake and a handwritten card in the room. We also got an upgrade to the junior suite as per my Platinum benefits which made the experience so much better. The suite was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We had a great sleep. We also got a late check out which allowed us to nap before our flight in the evening. The hotel is situated next to the Halifax harbour which has many shops and restaurants as well as boat tours. Best location! I’d definitely recommend this hotel.

We just spent 5 nights at the Westin Nova Scotian. Fabulous place to stay, although it is at the far end of the Harbourfront, so a longer walk for older folk, like us. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Of special note were: Scott, Maksym, Sanath and Lily, in the bar; servers Cammy and Tracey in the Seaport Social restaurant (fabulous food, by the way!); Asmira from housekeeping. Thank you to them and the rest of the team (under the guidance of Glenn Bowie, general manager), who made our stay so memorable!

Had a lovely 8-night stay with our two Goldens. There are 4 great strengths to this hotel: unfailingly helpful and professional staff across the services. Second, Bellhops in particular very welcoming and friendly to our dogs, as was the general manager. Third, the waterfront location is great. Fourth, the bromine pool and whirlpool are perfect, as well as gym They just need to be open for a bit longer at night. Downsides: the room was small, as was the closet, which also has an auto-shut which is really inconvenient. The plumbing is outdated. Simple amenities that should be basic are: more hooks to hang clothing or towels, or add towel bars; more hangers; a microwave, and slippers. As well, the cards to open the rooms and use in elevators don’t read that well. As to atmosphere, this seems to have become more and more a convention centre, with constant large groups everywhere and in elevators. and hanging out in the lobby with their drinks, and loud parties tolerated there can be heard in the rooms, ostensibly allowed until midnight This is not the “experience “ or “wellness “ that Marriott touts. It isn’t elegant or restful and doesn’t provide a little extra, such as a complementary breakfast We enjoy the hotel especially because it is so welcoming for our nice dogs and puts us at a really lovely and tastefully developing waterfront. Westin and Marriott need to capitalize on guests’ appreciation for this city, which conventions will not care about

Currently staying here, staff have been great and the room and location are lovely. Just one constructive piece of feedback-please install EV chargers in your main parking lot. We picked your hotel as we thought we could use the one in front but it seems it’s for valet only! Other than that great spot!

I've stayed at the Westin Nova Scotian multiple times this year, and as someone who spends at least a third of my life in hotels, I've become particular about what makes a place worth returning to: solid value, actual comfort, walkability, and ideally, a restaurant that doesn't make you immediately search for alternatives. The Westin checks all those boxes—and throws in pet-friendliness for good measure. The hotel itself is beautiful, bright, and recently renovated. Well, almost everything. The fitness center requires navigating a peculiar elevator tucked away in what feels like a completely different building, as if the gym is in witness protection. But the rooms? Quiet, spacious, and outfitted with those signature Marriott down comforters that make leaving bed feel like a personal failure. The on-site restaurant is legitimately excellent—good enough that I eat there even when I'm not staying at the hotel. Breakfast is solid: the buffet does the job with a live omelet station and rotating options, but ordering from the menu gets you the real highlights, like seared duck frittata or what might be the best avocado toast in the city (smoked salmon, poached egg, the works). Happy hour is even better—dangerously so. My wife and I once ordered one of everything, assuming tapas-sized portions. They had to push another table over just to fit it all. The baos and mussels were standouts. The jackfruit? Once was enough. Parking is slightly odd—it's around the corner behind the building—but accessible via elevator, and conveniently shares space with the Hertz rental center. The building also houses a few independent vendors (spa services, boutiques, home decor consultants), though they're not formally part of the hotel. Location-wise, you couldn't ask for better: minutes from the waterfront, blocks from the city's best restaurants. A car here is optional at best. If you're Marriott Platinum Elite or higher, upgrades are surprisingly easy to snag, even during summer, unless there's a major convention in town. There are only a handful of hotels in the world I'd return to without hesitation. The Westin Nova Scotian is one of them. In fact, my experience here was good enough that it played a part in why I moved to Halifax.

We spent four nights at this hotel with three adults and were only partially satisfied. Upon arrival, the lady at the reception desk was unfriendly. We were neither greeted nor shown any form of sympathy. We had booked breakfast for all days via booking.com. We were given vouchers for two adults and two children. When I complained, I was told that this was always the case and that we should clarify with the restaurant ourselves whether two children count as one additional adult. I felt stupid and started to ask questions. The receptionist explained to me that breakfast can only ever be booked in combination with children and that it was our fault. After a lengthy discussion, we were finally issued vouchers for three people. Overall, the room was dark and musty, with an unlit storage room for suitcases and a wardrobe. It certainly couldn't be described as beautiful at least it was clean. The “highlight” was the breakfast. In principle, it was delicious and the room was very nice. However, there was an incident: I was standing at the omelet station when suddenly a mouse climbed down the curtain next to the chef. Mind you, in the breakfast room with an open buffet?! After pointing this out, several employees were called and supposedly set traps. Especially with open food, something like this should not happen. This is a serious hygiene problem and not acceptable! We will not be returning to this hotel or recommend it.

Had a wonderful stay. Our harbour view room was spacious and exceptionally clean, giving us ample views of the 6 cruise ships docking in port. Front desk and valet were courteous, helpful and professional. Our servers at Happy Hour, dinner and breakfast were attentive to our dining needs. Our only complaint was that the food at the breakfast buffet was luke warm at best.

I was disappointed with the quality of my room during my stay at The Westin Nova Scotian. The room felt clean but there were several elements that felt dated and below the "typical" Westin standards. The food and service in the hospitality spaces were great. I had very positive experiences with the restaurant and room service staff. The location was perfect - very accessible to downtown attractions, food, and activities.

The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites is a historic landmark in Halifax, welcoming guests for over 85 years. Located near the Halifax Public Gardens and within walking distance of the Citadel National Historic Site and the city's harbor front, it offers refined accommodations with modern touches following a recent refurbishment. The hotel's old-world charm is preserved in its remarkable lobby, complete with stately doorkeepers, topiaries, and grand chandeliers.
I felt compelled to share my amazing experience at the Lord Nelson. I stay here from time to time and as always my experience is great. I had to give my appreciation to all the staff who work very hard. From the bell man who treated me and was ready to assist. The house keeping who kept everything clean with a smile. Last and certainly not least the front desk who from check in to check out provided their amazing hospitality. In particular Bidhan was very helpful and I just wanted to take the time out to show my gratitude.

My husband and I stayed here on a recent vacation. It was very, very nice. The room was spectacular, the staff, friendly and helpful. The area had everything, restaurants, shopping, and beautiful gardens right across the street. If you are in the area, and have the opportunity to stay here, do it. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for a lovely stay .

We have visited several hotels in Halifax area, and selected the Lord Nelson for our event. This is a very nicely renovated hotel with great event space and excellent service. Hotels food is usually 5 out of 10, but the Lord Nelson gets 10 out of 10 from our international attendees and that means a lot. Meals were healthy, delicious, and artfully decorated. The event manager, Jahnia, was above and beyond helpful, ensuring a smooth event operation, setup, and addressed all our requests in a timely fashion. The crew on the ground make the experience a great one and makes us come back. Shout out to Amir at the catering service with being on top of everything and helping with all our needs. We had a great experience and happy with this choice.

Couldn't have been better. They upgraded us to a king suite for our anniversary, even left us wine and chocolates in the room. Everything was tasteful, spotless, and comfortable. The staff was very attentive, and the hotel itself is a historical classic train hotel, with all the beautiful wood, brass and marble accents. The location across from the public gardens was very convenient. We'd stay again, and definitely recommend to friends.

So many things went right with my stay at the hotel from Sept 16 to 19th. Check in was very positive. A sweet, smart an chatty reception agent. She gave me a beautiful room on the 9th floor. She really shined by sending me a handwritten note in my room a couple days later welcoming me to Halifax. In the note was reference to why I was in town, and wishing me the best. I was very touched and still have the note in my briefcase. My room was excellent. Nice to open the fridge and see all I needed for coffee waiting inside. Comfortable couches and bed. Shower was excellent, lots of pressure and roomy. Nice quality amenities. Very quiet as well. Easy parking, but if I had a few bags, I would drop them in front of the hotel with the bell man and then park. Humping a few bags in an unfamiliar parking garage, and then the trek to the actual hotel could start you off on the wrong foot. The hotel is right across the street from the Public Gardens. A great place to take your morning coffee. The real kicker about my stay was that I forgot about the three shirts I had in the wardrobe. I called and the hotel sent me my shirts by Canada Post with only the postal charge. Legendary service. Can't use names, but the person I spoke to about my shirts was as nice and sweet and the front desk person. The location is great for nightlife as well. Only a ten minute walk to be in the heart of the Halifax restaurant/bar scene, but nice and quiet by the hotel. Again, many thanks to the hotel staff for not only a great stay, but for sending me my shirts. Highly recommend.

Standard hotel room. We stayed Saturday night and there was a wedding on so hotel was busy. Elevators are very slow, lucky we were only on the third floor so we took the stairs! Walls are thin, we are woken up in the middle of the night by loud guests and children in the hall - Saturday night so what can you do. No breakfast included but there is a restaurant as well as a McDonald's, Tim Hortons and Starbucks just around the corner. Good location, right across from the public park which is lovely, short walk downtown to restaurants, bars and the seafront. Easy car parking underground for a fee. If you pull up in front they will give you a card to access the underground right away, then there is a drop box when you drive out after check out.

Great old railway style hotel. Beautiful and historic in common areas, with rooms fully renovated and up to date with little kitchens and living areas. Perfect combo. Fun neighborhood, walking distance to all of downtown and waterfront. Easy driving access too. Secure underground parking. Priced really well for our stay. We would easily stay here again.

The Prince George Hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia offers stylish rooms and upscale amenities including an on-site restaurant, meeting rooms, and a pool. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of other hotels in the area. One standout feature is the availability of two different buffet options at their restaurant. Additionally, the hotel is pet-friendly and provides amenities for four-legged guests, making it a welcoming choice for travelers with pets.
Granted the hotel was very busy when we went. However the rooms were very clean and spacious. The pool was warm, clean and lovely. The sauna was clean and nicely done. The hot tub well maintained. Location was excellent, and only a short walk to great local sites. The breakfast buffet was good value for the cost. The parking was easy. Staff was approachable and eager to help.

My husband, dog and I stayed here for our first time in Halifax. This hotel is absolutely wonderful. The staff are insanely professional and polite and the atmosphere is lovely. Patrick, who was phenomenal, checked us in and gave us a complimentary upgrade and a present for our dog (she was thrilled). Our room was clean and the view was great. We were also given two complimentary breakfast buffet cards—and that was delicious. We LOVED our stay and cannot wait to come back!

I’ve had the privilege of staying in some of the world’s most luxurious and high-end hotels, yet Prince George Hotel stands out as one of the finest experiences I've ever had. What truly sets it apart is the exceptional service and professionalism of the staff. Every team member is remarkably courteous, attentive, and communicates with genuine warmth and clarity. It’s evident that they go above and beyond to ensure every guest has a memorable and seamless stay. The rooms are immaculate, generously spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with all the modern amenities one could need. From start to finish, my stay was nothing short of outstanding.

My wife and I stayed at Prince George Hotel for 4 nights during our trip to Halifax and absolutely loved the hotel! The room we reserved looked exactly like the photos online. The hotel was extremely clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. I requested for a microwave because I needed to use hot compress on my eyelids daily to treat dry eyes, and they provided one without extra cost, which I really appreciated! We were especially impressed by the made-to-order cookies in their in-room food menu. We ordered some cookies, which were made from scratch and delivered to us still warm. The location of the hotel was extremely convenient as well, just steps away from the citadel and all the great restaurants. We will definitely be choosing Prince George Hotel when we visit Halifax again.

Excellent hotel. Great staff. Nice room, more like a suite. Maid service even left a written "thank you" for each daily tip. Shower was big enough for a small dance party. Jetted tub was huge, as well. Valet was quick and easy. Morning breakfast buffet, although repetitive, was very good.

My wife and I arrived at the hotel late evening following our flight from the U.K. and were warmly welcomed, and to our delight, upgraded to a suite with complementary breakfast for our two night stay. The hotel is well appointed and spotlessly clean and all the staff we encountered were polite, professional and friendly. There is secure parking beneath the hotel. The hotel is also ideally situated for easy walking to the waterfront bars and restaurants. Highly recommend. 👌🏻

This is a great hotel. Check in was friendly and efficient. Our room was attractive, well-equipped, and spotless. The hotel had two small but important features that distinguish caring hotels from indifferent ones: the bathroom had a nightlight, so you don't have to blind yourself when you get up in the night, and the room had plenty of conveniently placed USB outlets for charging devices. The hotel is in a great location in downtown Halifax. I'd certainly stay there again.

I had an impressive stay at the Prince George Hotel. My executive suite was very spacious, relatively updated, had a great spa-like bathroom and was very clean. The suite views were also impressive, considering that I was only on the 4th floor. The hotel's front desk team were friendly, professional and attentive, Paige was particularly friendly and helpful with my stay. The hotel is quint yet charming, has all the conveniences that one would want with a great central location to everything within easy walking distance...so many great restaurants and amazing cafes nearby! Breakfast was also impressive, fresh and had a bountiful selection. Service was also excellent and attentive. The bar and outdoor terrace was also nice, great drinks and snacks (service was friendly yet pretty slow). Some of the lobby furniture needs updating, elevators were slow, pool and hallways really needs updating, as they were showing their age (room hallways — are badly dated and smelled musty). The hotel also really needs to add a doorman (especially during busy seasons), and key access to the room floors for guests privacy/security! The hotel also backs onto a very busy "party" street, so be sure to know that rooms facing that side of the hotel can get pretty loud with street / pedestrian noises late into the night. Otherwise, I had a terrific, pretty much flawless stay that exceeded my expectations.

I had a great stay at this hotel! The staff were friendly, professional, and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. I had a small issue with my room, and they responded immediately and resolved it without any hassle. The level of service was outstanding, and I really appreciated how attentive and helpful everyone was. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-managed hotel experience.

Excellent location for a conference I was attending at the Halifax convention Centre. The rooms were spacious, little Kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee machine. The furniture is a bit worn and dated but exceptional with the cleanliness. The shower was hot with good water pressure which is all I ask for ;). A makeup mirror would be nice. Breakfast buffet is included and it was nice …bacon/sausages were an extra fee. Wonderful service and very clean. Rooftop patio and fitness area with hot tub and sauna (loved this option for workouts and fresh air). They provided food/drinks on Friday and Saturday evenings. Delicious. Location close to Citadel, Convention centre, restaurants, walking distance to waterfront (be ready to embrace your inner mountain goat on…very steep hills). The set up encourages lots of young children so lots noise from that end but overall it is quiet.

We had a really nice stay in one of the queen suites. The staff was very polite and attentive (I appreciated the initial phone call to check if we had everything we needed in the room). Good location to walk to the waterfront and citadel (despite the construction which isn’t the hotel’s fault). Everything we needed for breakfast. The rooftop patio had a great view.

Stayed 5 nights a week ago, found the check-in process very easy and the room was ready for our early check-in. The hotel is very close to the Citadel and an easy walk to the waterfront. Sackville St, is very close and an nice downhill walk. Returning to the hotel was more difficult but I climbed the hill about 4 times during our stay (did I mention that I am 73 with a replacement hip) but I did it. The free breakfasts were good, especially the coffee. The only concern was paying extra for bacon or sausage so I did without, better for me anyway. The concern I had with our last night of our stay, although it was not their fault (a concert) the addressed my concern very quickly and to my satisfaction. Thank you Will. I would definately stay here again. Carl Schurman Ottawa

We had planned to stay here for three nights with our two month old. Before making a reservation we called ahead to ensure the hotel would provide a pack and play for safe sleep. Upon check in the hotel provided a dated folding crib which does not follow current safe sleep guidelines for a babe of this age. We requested a pack and play once again and the hotel staff attempted to create “bumper pads” which we explained were a suffocation risk. Following this we decided to check out and find alternate accommodations as our babe’s safety was at risk. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone traveling with a baby or toddler.

Great place to stay! Full breakfast with good choices and coffee was good (I'm super picky). I appreciate lobby coffee and water where I stay. Awesome roof top patio to hang out. Fitness area with hot tub but gets busy, of course! Loved the location to walk to so many places including Pier 21. Staff were all friendly too!

We arrived at about the same time as a tour bus full of seniors. Our room was very large and comfortable but had a room freshener that left me feeling ill. Also street construction made it difficult to get there. We walked a short distance to get dinner and the area is great for walking. Breakfast was so crowded that it was difficult to get food. Then they were out of spoons and I had to wait so long to get one that my oatmeal got cold. Maybe it is better on other days.

Went to the Robie location for lunch today after seeing all the hype about the new Smash Burger special. I was sold on the name alone - “Smash Gordon” Since launching their new menu back in May, I’ve made a point of trying something different every time, and the bar to impress me has been set higher and higher with each meal, and I’ve gotta say - this burger smashed my expectations right out of the park! It had to be one of the juiciest, most savoury burgers I have ever had, and in a time where gourmet burgers often run $25-30 at sit down restaurants, $16 for a double was an absolute steal! I was so beyond stuffed after just the burger, but it was so delicious that there was no way I could say no to finishing the last couple bites of my husband’s as well when he was too full! I’m not much of a beer drinker, but Good Robot’s been converting me with their creative, refreshing flavours, so I decided to pair it with a half pint of their Thembot/Sour - the sweet fruitiness of the beer balanced the hot, savoury flavours of the smash burger perfectly! I know it would go great with their Diablo as well! I had the pleasure of having Maud as my server for the first time today, they were wonderful! Friendly, informative and engaging, and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed every last bit of our experience. This burger was what my summer was missing, and couldn’t have asked for a better lunch date! If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get out and enjoy the perfect summer lunch - then run, don’t walk to Good Robot because the Smash Gordon might be gone in a flash!

We had a wonderful experience at Good Robot. Food, beer, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. The Seasoning waffles fires is fantastic. Lots of to-go beer options once you've found what you like. The trouble is picking which beers because they're all great.

Very friendly staff - super kind and took great care of us. We even met the owner, who was so kind and welcoming, like everyone else. We got a pear cider and grapefruit cider - both were delicious. We got some snacks that were also delicious. The bread was to die for. The street corn was also incredible. Vibes were amazing!

Tried out the new menu yesterday and the hummus and crudite was a surprise hit. The curried chickpeas on top were delicious and I honestly could have eaten a whole bowl of them on their own. Gobbled it up too fast to get a photo. They’ve added some guest taps to the beer lineup which is a fun change, and the Tropical Storm series of their own beer continues to be a hit. Always a fun stop when you’re in the neighborhood.
Kristen A — Google review
Stopped by Good Robot’s Elmsdale location recently and had a mixed but overall enjoyable experience. The taproom has a welcoming vibe, with a relaxed outdoor area and a small but efficient food truck on-site that absolutely delivers when it comes to quality and value. The portions were generous, the pricing fair, and the selection hit the spot. As for the beer, I tried two of their offerings: * Creature Feature IPA: This one really stood out. It’s a bold, well-balanced IPA with a bright hop profile. Expect citrus and pine on the nose, a juicy mid-palate, and a crisp, slightly bitter finish. The hops are assertive but not overpowering, and there’s just enough malt character to keep it grounded. This is the kind of IPA that delivers both freshness and complexity definitely a standout and something I’d come back for. * Tom Waits for No One Stout: This one started off strong it poured rich and dark with a creamy head, and the initial taste promised a smooth, roasted stout. However, the finish leaned too heavily on bitter coffee and dark chocolate notes, which lingered a bit too long and lacked balance. It felt like it was trying a little too hard to be bold, and it left a slightly chalky aftertaste that didn’t sit right with me. It’s not a bad beer, but not one I’d revisit. One downside: they don’t currently offer a flight option, which is disappointing for a craft brewery. Flights are a great way to sample and compare styles without committing to a full pour, and it’s something I hope they consider adding in the future. All in all, a good visit with great food, one excellent beer, and one that didn’t quite hit the mark. Worth checking out if you’re in the area especially for the IPA and food truck.

Great spot for unique beers! The cider and ThemBot sour were both excellent. We enjoyed the nice atmosphere and the fact that you have games available. However, the food portions felt small for the price. The nachos were a surprisingly small serving compared to other places. The hot dog was tasty, but at $14 and without any side, it felt overpriced. Overall, a fun place, but be prepared for it to be a bit pricey compared to other breweries downtown and in the West End.

Had great experience purchasing from this store online. Order was shipped very quickly and arrived within days. Unfortunately Purolator lost one of the package in transit, but store’s customer support responded to my emails promptly and provided refund without delay. Came here to exchange a shirt purchased at another Patagonia retailer. Patagonia’s official policy is that they exchange any products purchased anywhere at any shop, however this shop wouldn’t honour this policy. Very disappointing considering how much you pay for these products. Will not visit here again and will probably not buy Patagonia anymore if I won’t be able to exchange it. I’m glad the manager reached out and we were able to resolve this problem.

We have seen more crime and ugliness go down on this street than one week in NYC taking the subways and walking everywhere. Always avoid this street.

Restaurant
The Bicycle Thief is a lively restaurant with a classic atmosphere and outdoor seating, offering an innovative Italian menu and cocktails. Situated near the waterfront at Bishops Landing, it combines old-school charm with a modern vibe. The extensive menu features tempting dishes like jumbo prawns sautéed in garlic and cognac, braised beef short rib ragu, and almond-crusted organic chicken breast.
The Bicycle Thief is a very popular restaurant along the harbourfront in Halifax for good reason. The service was 10/10 as the hostess were friendly & welcoming, & our server was also very friendly & knowledgeable on the menu. He made sure to check with us if there was any allergies to be aware of & was always checking up on us. Be aware that you must reserve a table as it does get fully booked & is unlikely to have seating right away if you walk in!! For appetizers, we had to get the fresh oysters which were perfect and so fresh - and the calamari which was sooo good as well! Those are both a must try. For mains, we got the Crab Ravioli, which was a good amount of food & was very filling - highly recommend! The Linguine All’aragosta was a recommendation from our server & it lived up to our expectations. And if you’re looking to eat a variety of seafood for dinner, get the Seafood Stew. We loved it as it was filling & the scallops in it was definitely a highlight. I couldn’t recommend this place more

Stunning waterfront spot in Halifax with a beautiful ambiance. The seafood was top-tier — our seafood stew was full of flavour, the oysters crisp and fresh, the salmon tender and cooked just right. Service was beyond good; Costa was attentive and the whole team came across friendly and professional. The wine list deserves mention: a nice selection, well matched to the seafood. On the flip side: it isn’t cheap, but you do get what you pay for. It has a bit of a “tourist destination” feel, and the interior can get lively (and loud) in peak times; if you want a more relaxed meal, consider an earlier slot. Dessert: the butterscotch cake was rich and a bit too sweet for my taste. The Greenhorn cocktail was a strong pour — good but didn’t quite hit the flavour mark for me. Overall: Highly recommended for a special dinner, celebration or when you want scenic dining with good food and fine service in Halifax.

I had wonderful experience here along with my wife. We came without reservation to celebrate our anniversary, and we received a nice service. We sat down outside around 6pm so we would be able to enjoy the sunset. We got jumbo shrimps with garlic for entries and they were delicious and a couple of glasses of wine After that we tried the Spaghetti with Fruti di Mari and the Diavola. We loved so much the food and specially the service. In the end we ordered a dessert and they put a lovely message to make the ocassion more special.

Our favourite place to eat in Halifax. Staff are so well trained and friendly it’s refreshing. But the cuisine…wow! What a dining experience. I can’t believe they can serve so many people at the same time and yet we feel like one chef in the back personally prepared my plate. Everything was perfect, nothing over cooked and presented as if they had nothing else on the go. We loved the scallops and the halibut! The deserts are all homemade but the pistachio gelato is something you need to try even if you think you’re too full, try it anyway. Right on the pier as well so you can walk right after.

You can see that most of the reviews here are very favourable for this restaurant. That's because the food, the service, the ambience, the location, are all spectacular. The food we had was faultless! It was delicious, beautifully presented, and the wait staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful. No wonder this restaurant is a hit! It was my daughter's birthday vacation and they surprised her with a sundae brought out in a tall glass, on a plate with Happy Birthday written on it. See, it's the small things that count!! lol It's a good thing I don't live in Halifax, because I'd be at this restaurant far too often!! Well done, Bicycle Thief!

We had been recommended this place by a number of people and had tried to get a table the first time we were in Halifax but couldn't make it work. We were heading back through a ND thought we would try again and made it work and am so glad we did. The service was perfect and our server was delightful. I really appreciated that she asked about allergies and issues from the outset as many places do not cater and we have someone in our family that has a lot of difficulty due to allergies. The space was well set up and felt intimate while also being quite open. We ordered a few appetizers to share and out mains and the food was all excellent. Had the tuna tartare and would highly recommend. Would definitely recommend a reservation but it is worth the wait.

Located just outside the waterfront, reservations are recommended or you would sit at the bar. Nevertheless, the food was amazing! I had the seafood cioppino and it was loaded with seafood, the bread it came with was great too! Pasta and calamari were also delicious. They also gave us their homemade foccacia and while it was good, it would been even better if it was warmed. Definitely a worthy spot to check out in Halifax.

Took my family here for dinner. The service was great. The food was ok. We started with an octopus appetizer and the flavour was just ok. It was nothing to race about. My partner ordered a risotto with scallop. The risotto was too aldente. My daughter ordered a crab tortellini and it was also too aldente. The sauce was terrific. Had a great taste of lemon. I had Linguine Fra Diavolo Sautéed Jumbo Shrimp. My pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce I thought was not spicy enough.

The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, established in 1749, is a star-shaped hilltop fort that offers guided tours and features a coffee bar and gift shop. Located in Nova Scotia, Canada, the site is one of the most visited National Historic Sites in the country.
Great experience if you're visiting Halifax. This historical site is a wonderful place to explore and take photos. It's one of the stops on the Hop On and Off tours, but it's also somewhat walkable from the downtown water front. Walking downhill to downtown takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Wouldn't recommend doing it uphill though. There are beautiful views of Halifax from here. Highly recommended that you arrive there at 11:15 so you can have a bit off a walk around before finding a great spot to view the live cannon that is shot of daily at 12 pm. Tours are also available here. The uniforms of the cadets are fantastic and they welcome you to take pictures. They are also super well informed and can answer any questions about the citadel. We didn't visit the indoor areas here but we watched the cannon being shot off. We spent about 45 minutes here in total watching the cannon, talking to guards and taking photos. Note: I do not know if bathrooms are available or here or if there is wheel chair access. All ages can enjoy this location, even children would enjoy this experience. However,I am not sure if this location is wheel-chair accessible, and those who struggle walking may have a sightly difficult time walking around the grounds.

Thoroughly enjoyed this visit. We parked at the bottom of the hill that it was situated on only to realize that we could have driven to the top lol! The tour guides were very informative and welcomed any questions. It was interesting for both children and adults. A definite must see on the east coast that took the majority of the day to see properly. French tour guides were also available.

Don’t miss seeing this historic site in Halifax, even if you’re only there for one day. The historic significance is fascinating and even if history doesn’t interest you, if nothing else, this site is worth visiting for the views alone. Wonderful experience. Go before noon and tag along for the tour and you’ll get to see them shoot the canon right up close (take ear plugs or use your fingers, lol)

The Halifax Citadel is a fascinating historical landmark that brings Canada’s colonial past to life. Perched atop a hill overlooking downtown Halifax, the star-shaped fortress offers incredible panoramic views of the city and harbour. Walking through its well-preserved walls and ramparts, you can explore the museums, military exhibits, and the daily routines of soldiers from the 18th and 19th centuries. The changing of the guard ceremony is a highlight, showcasing tradition and discipline in a captivating way. Every corner of the Citadel tells a story, from its strategic importance in defending the city to the fascinating artifacts on display, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking to connect with Halifax’s rich heritage.

A Fascinating Piece of History – A Halifax Must-Visit! My wife and I absolutely loved our time at the Halifax Citadel. We ended up visiting twice because there’s just so much to take in—from the rich history to the immersive demonstrations. The staff are amazing, super knowledgeable and passionate, and really help bring the past to life. Highlights included the cannon firing at noon (a tradition to signify lunchtime) and hourly rifle demonstrations, which added such an engaging and exciting touch. The views from the top are also beautiful—a perfect blend of education and scenery. The only downside was running into rowdy school groups—some of the kids were a bit wild and disrespectful, which did take away from the experience at times. That said, it didn’t stop us from enjoying everything the site had to offer. If you’re in Halifax and love history or just want a unique experience, the Citadel is a must-visit!

A very interesting informative part of Nova Scotia history, it's a must see for everyone. Helpful staff and has a great little gift store with lots interactive opportunities. They even have time period dressed staff performing reenactments.

What a neat place to visit, short walk from the cruise terminal but note that it is hilly. The Citadel itself is your basic fort, but it has some unique little features here and there tucked away. Be sure to explore all the stairs to find the little hidden shooting points of the fort and walk around the upper level to see views of the city

The Citadel offers amazing views of the city and a deep dive into Canadian history. The reenactments, guided tours, and noon-time cannon firing make the experience unforgettable. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Great spot for photos and learning. Highly recommend! Staffs are so friendly and got the Opportunity to see their day-to-day parade, and wide view of Halifax

Salty's is a relaxed pub located by the waterfront, offering a mix of outdoor seating and an elegant upstairs dining area. It is known for its delectable local seafood dishes, including scrumptious lobster options and reasonably priced kids menus. The restaurant offers stunning views of Privateers Wharf and the harbor, making it a popular choice for both tourists and locals.
After hours of googling where to have my last dinner in Halifax, I settled on Salty’s and I’m SO glad I did! Their view of the waterfront is unmatched; no obstruction and in a quiet area. I ordered the 1lb lobster and it was fantastic, especially for the price! I also ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and they were so delicious (Also very reasonably priced!). The atmosphere was exactly what you’d want on a waterfront patio - chic, yet calming. My server, Courtney S. was extremely kind, attentive and well versed on the menu - she really made the night special! All of the staff worked together so well! From the bus boys to the bartenders, everyone worked really hard and it showed in the quality of service. Thank you to everyone at Salty’s for such a memorable dinner! I’ll be back again soon!

First of I love the spot on the harbour! They have two menus the downstairs one i would say is more casual and the upstairs is more upscale. We came here our first night in town and tried the down stairs menu for some fish and chips and we thought they were phenomenal. It was the perfect amount of batter on the fish and chips the fries were not salty at all it was done crisp to perfection! The upstairs menu we came back and tried and for the price I would say is not worth it, the seafood Quattro was absolutely overpriced in my opinion it did not come with a lot and the lobster was basically all shell except for that one claw and barely had anything on the tail. The salmon was tiny and but they were delicious I have to say! Over all I do think try other dishes and pass on this one. Their desserts that we tried are so good and the oysters were amazing. For sure our highlight dishes for the upstairs. Our servers for both up and down were both so kind and so attentive they made sure we were well taken care of.

Really beautiful spot with amazing scenery if you happen to get a seat outside by the water. The service was not very good. No quality checks on the food; which is unfortunate. We started with bacon wrapped scallops...hands down the star of the show. Very expensive BUT definitely delicious. My guy ordered the blackened salmon. It was tasteless and a waste of money. I got the maple curry pasta. I was extremely disappointed. There was almost no chicken or vegetables in it. My niece got the fish tacos and they were phenomenal according to her... however the crispy fries that came with them were a huge disappointment. All in all, we would not recommend this spot nor would we return. There are plenty of spots along the harbour you should take your dollars to vs spending them at this joint.

We had to try Salty's after hearing about it from friends. We ate in the restaurant upstairs and we were given a great table with a beautiful view of the water. Overall the food was okay but the atmosphere and service were great. Rob was very kind, bringing us 7 oysters instead of 6 because they were a little smaller. When he came back he asked who got to eat the extra one, and when we told him I ate it, he brought an extra one out for my partner 😂. Really nice touch and helped make our night more enjoyable! Recommend the seafood platter but wouldn't recommend the lobster linguine personally.

What a view! This restaurant offers an incredible harbor view that you can enjoy even from inside, making for a truly memorable dining experience. We were fortunate to have Erica as our waitress; she was exceptionally sweet and attentive, adding a personal touch to our visit. Despite calling on the same day, the restaurant graciously accommodated our party of 12, which was impressive. We were seated upstairs, where the view was simply fantastic. Our group ordered a variety of dishes, and each one was delicious and beautifully presented. The highlight for me was the margarita, which was among the best I've ever had—I only wish I had ordered a second one! Overall, this place is highly recommended for its amazing views, great service, and delicious food. We'll definitely be back!

Absolutely delicious lobster! The view from inside was just about as good as outside. The service was great; the waitress was really on top of things. The cornbread was delicious too. I would recommend reservations. Great waterside location.

What a view! This restaurant offers an incredible harbor view that you can enjoy even from inside, making for a truly memorable dining experience. The outdoor place to sit by the harbor is exceptional. I don't understand why the menus on the top floor and bottom are different. Anyways these were the best oysters we have had! The servers were great! All and All a great experience. Kids Menu included too so yes for kids as well!

The food was good and tasted fresh. I enjoyed the crab cake, which I recommend, followed by the lobster linguine. I tend to prefer a more parmigian- type sauce, but the butter cream sauce was pretty good. My server was excellent, and the view upstairs was serene. A very nice dinner.

The Five Fishermen is a renowned restaurant located in a historic building in downtown Halifax, offering upscale seafood and steak dishes sourced locally. The restaurant's setting adds to its allure, as it operates from a monumental building with a rich history dating back to 1817. While the establishment has ties to intriguing stories such as haunted halls and connections to the Titanic, its focus remains on delivering exceptional cuisine.
We went for a late supper on a Thursday evening in July and was pleasantly greeted by staff. They sat us right away without a reservation. This is a beautifully decorated modern gem in an old building located downtown Halifax. Our server was attentive and super knowledgeable about wine and the menu items. She gave us a lovely recommendation that paired well with our meal and offered next day tour suggestions for wineries! The food was outstanding and worthy of a return visit. We came to this restaurant from a referral and we were pleasantly surprised! Go enjoy a fine dining experience here, as you won’t be disappointed!

Our flight back to Toronto was scheduled for 10 PM, so we decided to make the most of our last evening in Halifax by having dinner somewhere near the Prince George Hotel. While browsing for nearby restaurants on Google, we came across this spot and thought it looked promising—so we decided to give it a try. As we walked in, we were surprised to discover that the building actually houses two different restaurants. Since we didn’t have a reservation, the hostess offered us bar seating upstairs at The Five Fishermen, which we gladly accepted. The ambiance upstairs was warm, stylish, and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing dinner. We were served by a cool and friendly bartender who made us feel right at home. We decided to start with two appetizers, followed by our main courses. Everything we ordered was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. I’m a huge fan of seafood, and this place definitely delivered on flavor and quality. To top it all off, the staff surprised us with a sweet gesture at the end of our meal in celebration of our anniversary. It was a thoughtful touch that truly made the evening feel extra special and memorable. If you’re in Halifax and looking for a nice spot to enjoy a quality meal—especially if you love seafood—I highly recommend checking this place out. The service, food, and atmosphere were all on point, and it was a perfect way to wrap up our trip.
JePH — Google review
We had high hopes for Five Fishermen, and while there were definitely some highlights, the overall experience didn’t quite justify the price. First off, the atmosphere is lovely—refined but not stuffy—and the service was wonderful throughout. Our server was friendly and attentive, which really helped set the tone for the night. We originally wanted to try a couple of cocktails, but the prices were sky-high, so we stuck with beer instead. Thankfully, the beer selection was solid and went well with our meals. I ended up ordering the burger, mostly because the steaks were way out of our price range. That said, I was pleasantly surprised—the burger was excellent. Super juicy, with a delicious aioli and tomato jam that really elevated it. My wife had the vegetarian risotto, and while she enjoyed it once everything was mixed together, the base risotto itself was pretty bland. Not a bad dish, but definitely not worth what we paid for it. If we weren’t on a budget, we might have been able to explore more of the menu—and maybe that would have changed our impression. But as it stands, this one’s a 3 out of 5 for us. Nice place, but just too expensive for what we got.

I had the Five Fish Experience and the oysters — both were absolutely outstanding! The oysters were large, fresh, and delicious, and their mignonette was divine. The Five Fish meal was generous and perfectly prepared. What truly made the evening unforgettable was the service. Laura went above and beyond — I’ve never felt so well attended to. The hostesses were also wonderful and welcoming, even taking my coat upon arrival. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. The Five Fishermen definitely did not disappoint!

The Five Fisherman was the first choice on my restaurant list for Halifax and it definitely did not disappoint. The location itself is beautiful - very elegant inside with multiple floors and a classy yet maritime aesthetic. Server was outgoing in an unintrusive way and did an excellent job - bringing things promptly, answering questions, and checking in periodically. The meal itself was great! Had the "Fish Five Experience" which seemed like an obvious choice, as well as a lobster mac & cheese, with some oysters to start. The raspberry mignonette was rather unique and totally delicious - I have a feeling that oysters in the future will always be a bit underwhelming without this delicious addition. Overall loved the meal, definitely a 5/5 experience and would happily visit again if I return to Halifax.

We had a date night here on Wednesday. We just wanted some lobster before leaving the city and this restaurant fulfilled that wish. Our server Alishia was amazing. Her wine recommendation complimented our meal well. The lobster Mac and cheese was tasty and so was the mash that came with the lobster dinner! The lemon loaf 6 ways was quite interesting as a finisher to our night.

The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse is a laid-back, wood-paneled spot with an inviting patio where patrons can savor classic Irish pub dishes and enjoy a selection of draft beers while being entertained by live music every night. Last summer, the establishment expanded its outdoor seating area on Bedford Row to accommodate more guests, but currently, they are making do with their original decks on Prince Street as they await final inspections and compliance from HRM for the extension.
Visited two seperate times during my stay in Halifax, once during the day for lunch and another for Dinner. Excellent choice of food with seasonal specials. Nice selection of beer, offering flights which is a nice plus to try the local beer. Likewise, local acts with love music makes the atmosphere top tier, recommended to anyone who enjoys Celtic / instrumental music

I haven't been to Ireland, but if to believe the movies, it looks like it :) But seriously, there is a very pleasant authentic atmosphere here. Sometimes there is live music here too. Friendly employees. It's noisy, but that's normal for a place like this, so it's not a criticism, but just a warning for people who plan to visit a pub. Any pub truly. We ordered a small set of beers(Beer Flight) for my wife and Blue Label Johnnie Walker for me. And for an appetizer, we took their nachos. The beer was not bad (2 were tasty, 1 was average, 1 we didn't really like). The whiskey lived up to many of the reviews about it: tasty, but not so much as to justify its price, so yes, the "blue label" is just a hyped-up color in their line. I liked the nachos. They were a little spicy, but as a person who doesn't like spicy food (specifically spicy, not slightly spicy), I can say that I liked it.

Nice historic spot. Found a table easy. Some accessible challenges but managed to find a spot for a walker. Food was made fresh and hot and servers were attentive. Nice spot. There is an accessible bathroom but up a short step. Not many ramps but easier than navigating a steep staircase downstairs.

We passed by the old triangle for our last day in Halifax. The restaurant is an old establishment that is well worth the visit for its unique historical setting. We ordered the fish bites, cheese pizza (off the kids menu), pan fried haddock and the mussels. The food was good and hit the spot for a nice lunch meal. The fish bites were prepared fresh and seasoned nicely, with an excellent dipping sauce. The pizza was good but simple - lots of cheese and canned pizza sauce and the haddock was good. Nice chunk of fish but could be a little more crispy? Overall it was a nice lunch spot but I would suggest exploring more in the area if you're looking for better seafood. I would say the atmosphere, good drinks and pub grub is what you should come by this spot for.

Had a family lunch at the Old Triangle and loved it! My family is from Ireland and always has a lovely meal here. The food is good, and the service and atmosphere are amazing! My favorite part of course is the fresh Guinness Draught! The ambiance is gorgeous, with lots of authentic Irish history and pub paraphernalia. Would definitely come back!

Best fish & chips I've ever had. It was crunchy outside and juicy within. The fries were also top fries I've tried. No other fish & chips I tried in Halifax could be compared to this one. The service was quick, kind, and attentive - which impressed me because she was serving the bar plus being the waitress for the tables around.

McKelvie's Restaurant is a refined dining spot located in a former fire station dating back to 1906, situated across from the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. It strikes a balance between upscale and down-home, offering classic seafood dishes like oysters Rockefeller and surf and turf, as well as contemporary twists on seafood classics. The menu caters to various dietary preferences with options for vegetarians, vegans, and those requiring gluten-friendly meals.
This was our favorite restaurant while visiting Halifax. We ended up going 2 nights in a row. The food and service were amazing. We both had the sea food chowder on both nights because it's that good. I had the maple pecan salmon the first evening, and the fish fry the second. We will definitely go back the next time we visit Halifax. The restaurant is also decorated beautifully.

We had dinner at McKelvie’s during our trip to Halifax. Overall, the experience was just okay. The kale salad was the highlight—fresh, well-seasoned, and honestly the best part of the meal. We also ordered the lobster, but it was underwhelming. It lacked flavour and didn’t really stand out, especially compared to other seafood we had on this trip. The jambalaya was another letdown—it didn’t have much depth or spice, and the dish felt a bit flat. The service was fine and the setting was nice, but the food didn’t leave much of an impression. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was particularly memorable either. It felt like one of those places that’s okay if you’re nearby and hungry, but not one I’d go out of my way to recommend. I’d give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Not bad, not great—just average.

I brought my fiancé here for his birthday dinner because he wanted lobster with butter. And this was the perfect lobster dinner. Decent Spot for Drinks & Apps, but Didn’t Quite Wow Us We originally planned to have dinner at McKelvie’s, but after getting a few local recommendations, we decided to head elsewhere for the main meal. That said, we still stopped in later that night for a couple of drinks and some appetizers, just to check it out. There’s a solid selection of craft beers and cocktails, and the service was friendly. The atmosphere, though, felt a bit underwhelming—not quite as lively or unique as many of the other Halifax spots we visited during our trip. We tried a couple of appetizers: the cornbread with chipotle butter and the burrata. I actually thought the cornbread was pretty tasty, but my wife wasn’t a fan of the flavour combo with the chipotle butter. The burrata was just okay—not bad, but nothing memorable. Even the locals weren’t praising it. Feels like a chain restaurant. There’s plenty of better options around in our opinion. Overall, it was a decent stop for some light fare and drinks, but compared to the other amazing restaurants in Halifax, McKelvie’s didn’t really stand out for us.

Visited Halifax for the first time and I was dying to try a fresh lobster dinner. <Myth - lobster is cheaper closer to the source where it's caught. It's not.> I ordered the 1lb lobster dinner and this is what it came with. The lobster was sweet and tasty but there's not miuch of it after the carapace and shell are removed. I was not full when I left. The service was average, the server did not ask me if I wanted anything else over and above water. This 1lb dinner as shown cost $60+taxes and tip. I did not leave feeling like I had the most amazing lobster dinner or experience. I was hoping to be wowed and this restaurant fell short. I suspect there are better places to try.

I had the lobster roll with a cup of chowder. It was the smallest lobster roll I had in my 2 week visit. And I had many! Partner had the crab/lobster burger and we each had one beer. The food was ok but not better than anywhere else. It wasn't worth $106.The reason for the low score is value for money.

From the street closest to the waterfront it had such cute street appeal I had to try it out. Outdoor dining area felt very European. Service was very fast and the food didn't slouch either! Very crispy fish sandwiches. Will definitely return next time I'm in Halifax.

Came here for lunch after landing in Halifax. First time having a lobster roll and have to say I was blown away they did not skimp on the lobster! It was sweet and tender and very satisfying, the local beer pairs extremely well with it! I will be coming back for this!

Waterfront Warehouse is a cozy restaurant with a rustic ambiance, serving an array of seafood delicacies and raw bar items alongside an impressive selection of beers and cocktails. One of its standout dishes is the lobster mac & cheese, perfectly balancing the richness of lobster with the indulgence of this classic comfort food. Situated near Salt Yard, a vibrant public space on Halifax's waterfront, Waterfront Warehouse offers visitors the chance to savor delicious meals while enjoying scenic views and sea air along the boardwalk.
We came here twice during our vacation. The restaurant has a nice fun atmosphere. The food here is excellent! We had the molasses brown bread, fried calamari, and bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers, and fish and chips and lobster rolls for dinner. Everything was so delicious and there was a lot of lobster in the rolls. Even the fries are super good and crunchy. We had the blueberry buckle for dessert. Our server Maggie was very nice and friendly and took good care of us. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

We were craving fresh seafood and this place have the best selections. Open bar and wide variety of drinks. Service was fast and friendly. We had raw scallops, little neck and cherry clams. Very good. The fish and chips is also very good. Best of all the whole lobsters were very fresh and perfectly cooked. Must try when in this area.

I can't say enough good things about this place! Stopped in for the first time on a whim during Buskers with my dog, as they offered a pet friendly patio. Great view for people watching and not crowded at all. I appreciated the dog rules posted so everyone knew what was expected of them. Ordered the lobster roll with a Caesar salad. BEST lobster roll I've had in ages!! Generous amount of lobster, fresh, cold, well seasoned mixed with mayo on a warm, soft bun. Caesar salad was the perfect size and tasty. Great service as well! I can't wait to go back again.

We had a great time at Waterfront Warehouse on the Halifax waterfront during our Maritimes trip. The place has a fun and casual vibe, perfect for hanging out and sharing food with friends or family. We ordered the watermelon salad, which was super refreshing and light. The lobster fries were rich and full of flavour, and the lobster rolls were fresh and tasty. The scallops were the star of the meal—cooked perfectly, tender, and full of flavour. We also tried the fried calamari, which was crispy and not greasy at all. Everything came in generous portions, which made it great for sharing. The service was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. Sitting by the water added to the experience, and it was just a really enjoyable meal overall. If you’re visiting Halifax and want good seafood in a relaxed spot, this is a solid choice. I’d definitely come back.

I had the fish and chips and I couldn’t fault it. My wife chose the tuna poke and it was delicious and large enough to satisfy even the hungriest diner we also had a stood fresh clams which were fresh and in my opinion tastier than oysters. You must try the molasses bread with whipped maple butter. The beer selection was also great. Wow. Best meal in every way. Great servers.

We had such a great experience here! The servings were very generous, so it’s definitely worth the price. On top of that, the service was impressively fast and friendly, which made the whole dining experience even better. Plus, it’s just a short walking distance from the Broadwalk, making it super convenient to stop by. Highly recommend for anyone looking for tasty food, big portions, and quick service!

Waterfront Warehouse is a good option to go to if you’re looking to eat somewhere with a more laid back vibe. Their servers are friendly & do come around often. They also have a ton of seating so walk ins didn’t take long to get seated. They also have a good variety of options on their menu, but being on the east coast meant choosing all their seafood options. We of course had to get their oysters & the server was knowledgeable on the different oysters given. We also ordered the lobster poutine which was a 9/10. It was very good but not as much lobster in it as I thought. The fish & chips was a massive portion and the fish was so fresh! The batter was light & didn’t drown out the fish itself.

Sophia our server and Krista the Manager are THE BEST!!! We were visiting Halifax for a conference and a group of us decided to head over for some dinner. There was a very small issue with one of our meals. Sophia was very helpful and apologetic. Krista was brought alerted and she came to our table immediately to tend to our friend. They were the BEST and I would highly recommend anyone to come the restaurant. - Cherrystone Clams - Lobster Roll - Whole Lobster Dinner - Lobster Poutine - Fish and Chips ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5

Ristorante a Mano is an elegant dining establishment offering a modern setting and picturesque water views. The restaurant presents a tantalizing array of classic Italian dishes, from savory salumi misti to delectable tiramisu. Guests can indulge in options like succulent ravioli, flavorful gamberi in padella, and refreshing insalata romana. With its focus on hospitality and guest comfort, Ristorante a Mano provides an award-winning Italian dining experience.
We came for an early for dinner on a Monday night. Great food. Hot and delicious. Our waiter Nathan, was attentive, friendly and very courteous, just as the rest of the staff. Couldn't ask for more. Clean men's bathroom Thank you for an enjoyable dinner on our last night in Halifax. I highly recommend this restaurant.

a Mano used to be one of my go-to spots three years ago, with its rich, diverse menu and bold, memorable flavors. Unfortunately, the recent visit left me feeling underwhelmed. The updated menu is now heavily seafood-focused, and the smell of seafood was quite strong as soon as you get in the restaurant, something I personally don’t enjoy. At first glance, we even considered leaving, but decided to give it a try. We ordered two pizzas, which were just average, not bad, but nothing memorable either. The fettuccine, unfortunately, was overwhelmed by lemon flavor. That was the only note I could taste, and I barely managed three bites. Don't get me wrong, I love lemon but I was hoping for rich creamy fettuccine. The tomato-based pasta was okay, nothing special. I also wasn’t a fan of the soft drinks being from a fountain machine, something I tend to avoid. Overall, I really miss the a Mano of the past. The quality and variety that once made this place special seem to have faded. I hope they consider bringing back some of the original charm.

I was there today for lunch and I can confirm that everything was excellent. The linguine with clams was good, just a little too much chilli. The fried calamari was good. The tiramisu was good but it could improve if they used less mascalpone. I will definitely go back.
Antonio C — Google review
I’d call this place pretty good. They do homemade pasta really really well here. The ravioli in particular was excellent! Service was lovely. I did find the food and the vibe to be lacking in authenticity. Take for example the sad bread (pictured here) which costs 8$ and is served with what tastes like spicy salsa from a jar.. Just not my cup of tea really. My steak was cooked properly but underseasoned. If you’re craving a glass of wine and a bowl of homemade pasta then a mano is a good choice. All around though, this place gave me a corporate vibe and I think there are better places to eat in Halifax. Would give 3.5 stars if I could.

We came here twice while in Halifax. The first time was on Thanksgiving. The food and drinks were amazing but the service was a bit lacking. We were left on our own a little too long and there was some clear communication gaps between the servers about our asks. Luckily the tiramisu was out of this world and we had to come back for seconds. Our second trip was amazing. The servers were great and they helped to accomodate one of our party who had an allergy. Would recommend the tiramisu a million times over. The ravioli and the lobster gnocchi received top marks.

MAKE A RESERVATION! Went on a Thursday and it was absolutely packed at 7 PM. We had a reservation for a nice two top inside. Ordered a drink and meal each, plus bread to start. Serving for the bread was small, I’d recommend a different starter. Pastas were great, I believe the whole menu is solid and can’t imagine a problem with any item, everyone around us was happy and satisfied. Our service was great, enjoyed a free scoop of gelato for our anniversary with a sparkler. Drinks were a mimosa and the “secret agent” which were presented amazingly and tasted great. Prices are reasonable considering the waterfront atmosphere.

Overall a good restaurant, and one of my wife’s favourites. However, I will never order takeout from here again. Waiting 48 minutes, when I was told it would take 30 minutes is fine, it happens. But, dealing with a disrespectful, unprofessional, and unwelcoming host ruins the experience. He couldn’t have been worse if he tried. The lady at the front was kind and helpful, but the gentlemen ruined the experience and dinner. Thanks.

Durty Nelly's Irish Pub is a stylish and traditional establishment that was originally built in Ireland and then transported to Canada for assembly. Located in the heart of downtown Halifax, it offers a rowdy Irish pub atmosphere with live music and entertainment. The pub is named after a famous restaurant in Bunratty, Ireland, and aims to authentically emulate Irish culture.
An absolutely amazing dinner we had here. We were recommended this pub, it did not disappoint. The pub was busy but everyone was respectful and it made for an amazing night. We sat up in the more dining style tables so it was a bit quieter but if you went closer to the bar the energy, the fun and the music were great! The stew and chicken burger were delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was yummy too! Will definitely eat here again then next time we visit! For those that appreciate it: yes the bathrooms were very clean!

I ordered the fish that was very tasty with a crispy batter. The Caesar salad was the highlight for me and I’ll probably order it as a main next time. My Dad absolutely loved his seafood chowder. My husband had the Reuben sandwich and fries. He had me try both and it was the best Reuben I’ve tried in a long time. The staff was beyond friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend for a great pub experience in the city.

Came here TWICE in my 3 night trip for a conference. DELICIOUS gluten free buns. I had a Reuben with seasonal beer salad (which was THE BEST with the fresh candied pecans and dried blueberries), and the Craic burger with Spice bag fries. The sumac and curry hints in that spice blend were so impactful but not overpowering. I am already planning a trip with the family in summer 2026 and going to bring them here for sure!
Jeneen M — Google review
Stopped here for some snacks and drinks and it was fantastic! The Blarney Chips were delicious, and after having several chowders on our trip so far this was by far the best! Drinks were good too, and there was a ceilidh happening while we were there and the music was awesome! Service was also spectacular, over server was very quick. Loved our experience here!

My party of two was actually forgotten about and we watched others get seated and served after us, but keen observers will note the 5 star rating. It was just a busy night and the staff was so apologetic and kind (they even gave us a free app) and it was water under the bridge. But more importantly, the food was amazing. The french onion dip, guiness stew, cocktails, and the smoke burger were all delicious, especially the dip. Great staff, great food, great music, highly reccomend.
C.J. — Google review
First off, we came for food, not for drinks. The ambience and service looks like it would be a great place for drinks. However, the food was pretty bad. The Irish Stew was undercooked (beef and potatoes) and sour. The seafood chowder was also way too salty.
Geoffrey M — Google review
The food was very good and our waitress Sally was very friendly, attentive, efficient and professional. We will definitely be going back the next time we visit Halifax. Not expensive for everything we had and very generous portions.
Isabelle Z — Google review
Unfortunately we were overcharged for our meals. Also for our non-alcoholic drinks. The waitress took our bills as soon as we started to pay for it so we didn't even have a receipt to look back on and see what was charged. We did tip even though we were missing all of our gravies. Usually it's a fun place to go but we had two birthdays and left leaving feeling very frustrated and hungry.

Gahan House Nova Centre, located at the corner of Sackville and Argyle Streets, is a bustling downtown brewpub that has been serving up craft brews and pub food since its opening in July 2019. The impressive interior features high ceilings, glass walls, and a central bar where customers can watch the brewing process through glass windows. With floor-to-ceiling windows facing Argyle Street, it's an ideal spot for people-watching.
Gahan House in Halifax was an instant hit for my wife and me—an easy 5/5 across the board. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and lively without feeling too loud or crowded. Service was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable—especially when it came to the beer. We started with a couple of flights to sample the house brews, and they did not disappoint. Our favourites were the Vic Park, Beacon Blonde, Blueberry Ale, and Honey Wheat—all incredibly well-crafted, fresh, and flavourful. As for the food, it was fantastic. I had the Chorizo and Chicken Penne—perfectly cooked pasta tossed in a rich Cajun cream sauce that really stole the show. The spice level was spot on, and both the chorizo and chicken were tender and packed with flavour. My wife went with the Lobster Mac and Cheese, and it was equally impressive. The lobster was fresh and flaky, and the mac itself was creamy, cheesy, and just the right level of indulgent. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. If you’re in Halifax and want great food paired with top-notch local brews, Gahan House should be high on your list.

Stopped by mid afternoon on a Sunday, it was quiet, but not empty. Sat in a really comfy booth, and ordered a flight with some apps to share. I recommend the lobster dip (it was a "lobster season" special, not sure if it's available regularly) and the chicken bites that are to die for!!! The beers were also good, with standouts being the Beach Chair Lager and the Raspberry Sour! I would love to come back sometime, maybe during a Saturday sports night to experience the crowd.
Andrew A — Google review
The food was really great, I dont know if I would recommend the tuna tartar since its half tuna and half avocado and cucumber and the chips make it hard to eat as well. The taste was still good though. The House burger on the other hand is delicious. If you like juicy and saucy burgers this one is the one.

Amazing experience today at Gahan House. This is my first brunch experience here and will definitely be back! After being rudely turned away from a neighbouring restaurant that wasn't open yet (we were checking the time on the door, 15 mins to go), we popped into Gahan House and were warmly welcomed by Jacob! He was able to seat our party of 4 in a cozy booth. He was also our main server, brought water right away, answered questions about the menu items and got all our coffee preferences right! We all enjoyed our delicious meals, especially the Eggs Benny option made with candied bacon and the Fried chicken and Waffles, with the crispy coated waffles in traditional Belgian style. We noted that Jacob also tended bar as other staff and visitors arrived and we marveled at how he still managed all his tables and stayed upbeat and friendly. When complimented on his service and the food, he praised the whole team for working hard and said he would share our compliments to the kitchen staff. Highly recommend you visit here when downtown and looking for good food, drinks and service. Thank you to Jacob and the whole staff who made our morning.

This coffee house has a great location and a pleasant atmosphere. The service was also good. However, their breakfast options are limited, so we only had bagels, which weren’t very impressive. Overall, it’s a great place to have a coffee in downtown, but they could improve their breakfast menu by adding some bakery options.

Good location with beautiful light. In need of a deep clean and drastically improved daily cleaning. Cleanliness issues are hard to get past. There are crumbs, dust and sticky all over. I loved it. The fries were crispy, perfectly seasoned. I fancy myself a Reuben connoisseur, and this one was a 9/10. The only thing I would change would be the amount of meat, it could use more. The atmosphere was nice. However, there were two ladies at the table across from us who made their exhausting political opinions known to half the restaurant. The service (Alex) was incredible, I have zero complaints there. Other than the two political pundits, this place was great. I would recommend it.

Fish tacos were awesome tasting and good presentation. However, I thought they were part of the handheld menu and would come with fries but they do not. I don't recommend the butter chicken especially the GF option, came with nachos. Service was excellent. The restaurant has some wear n tear on the furniture which lends to its rustic character.

Antojo Tacos + Tequila is a lively Mexican eatery that offers a variety of authentic dishes and tequila drinks in a relaxed setting. The menu features options like Esquites or Guacamole for starters, Beef Barbacoa or Cochinita Pibil for mains, and churros with chocolate and Dulce de Leche for dessert. In addition to tacos and enchiladas, the restaurant also offers an impressive selection of tequilas.
I had an amazing experience at Antojo in downtown Halifax! The burrito I ordered was absolutely delicious – fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavour in every bite. The portion was generous without being overwhelming, and everything tasted so authentic and well-prepared. On top of the great food, the service was outstanding. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right from start to finish. It’s rare to find a spot that delivers both amazing food and excellent service, but Antojo definitely does. Highly recommend for anyone craving top-notch Mexican food in the city – I’ll definitely be coming back! 🌯✨

I saw that ”Chinese people do not lie to Chinese people“ in the comments. My friend came to travel from China and had never eaten Mexican food. We walked here. Because I was not familiar with the cuisine, I studied the order for a long time. I conservatively ordered the traditional taco, and my companion ordered others. They are all delicious, and the taste is very good, just like what I ate in Mexico.

This place is amazing! The menu is nicely varied with Mexican fare. I've eaten here about a dozen times and it's never failed me. I opted for the nachos this evening, a first for me at this place, and I thought they served it rather uniquely. The washrooms are usually in good order. The staff are always friendly and polite. I didn't think you can go wrong eating here!

At first glance one might dismiss Antojo as a party establishment and you could get drunk here pretty easily with their great selection of (strong!) cocktails and beers. But we came here for dinner and were surprised to find their tacos extremely delicious and some of them even pretty authentic. Service was friendly and quick. Definitely recommend!

My experience at this Mexican restaurant was wonderful! I ordered quesadillas and nachos. While the quesadillas were a bit disappointing (I’d rate them 3/10), the nachos completely made up for it, honestly the best nachos I’ve ever had in my life! I’ve never tried anything tastier. The service was also amazing, and the overall experience left a really positive impression. I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try, especially for the nachos!

I’ve been to this restaurant a few times over the years, and while the food is usually decent, the service has always been lacking. This last visit was by far the worst and honestly left a bad taste literally and figuratively. We were shoved into a cramped corner of the restaurant and completely neglected. It took 45 minutes just to get our mains. The appetizers were fine, but by the time our entrees arrived, everything was cold. The cheese had hardened (see photo), and the food overall felt like sloppy leftovers. I also requested extra cilantro (something they charge $1.25 for) and they completely forgot it. It also seems like the prices have gone up, which wouldn’t be as frustrating if the quality or service matched. The server was polite but hovered awkwardly while we were paying, which made me feel pressured to tip over 18% even though the experience was clearly a 1/5. I get that it’s not entirely her fault, but still it was very uncomfortable and my group left very frustrated. I’ve had better meals here in the past, but the service has consistently been terrible. After this experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon.

Sea Smoke Restaurant & Bar, located in Bishop's Landing, offers a stunning setting to savor some of Halifax's finest seafood while enjoying picturesque views of the waterfront. The restaurant is open year-round but is especially delightful during spring and summer when guests can dine on the fantastic outdoor patio. Sea Smoke's menu features an array of delectable seafood options including fresh oysters, salmon, eel, snow crab, butterfish, tuna, sushi rolls, and poke bowls.
The Sea Smoke Restaurant & Bar features a wide assortment of food but it’s the sushi that was the wow factor for me. Our waitress Carmela (I hope I am getting her first name correct) was fantastic. Friendly, cheerful, attentive and definitely steered us in the right direction when it came to recommendations. She is one of the best servers i have ever had. The rock shrimp followed by the Rock & Roll sushi roll were fantastic. If it weren’t for the fact that we’re returning home to the Ottawa Valley tomorrow I would return for another meal.

A lovely restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and flavorful food! Overall, we had a great dining experience — the dishes were well-prepared, and the cocktails were just perfect! However, I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 because a few of the sushi pieces were overly salty, which made them a bit difficult to enjoy. Our server was wonderful — polite, attentive, and gave us some great recommendations that we really appreciated. This spot is perfect for a date night or a relaxed evening with friends. It definitely left a positive impression and added a special memory to our time in Halifax! 🥂

I booked a reservation several weeks ago for a patio fire table for 2 for 7pm on a Wednesday. We were surprised and disappointed to learn when we arrived that the reservation is for inside only, the patio is actually first come, first served, so we had to wait in a line with others who did not have reservations. We waited over 30 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was lovely but service was slow. Cocktails were delicious and came fairly quickly, our appetizer sushi roll was tasty but came at 8:30pm (we were there for 1.5 hours at this point). Our mains were also delicious, apart from the corn that was overcooked, tough and stuck to our teeth, and the veggies, while seasoned nicely, were hard and one step away from raw, particularly the brocollini. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked, and the seafood was tasty. By the time we flagged down our waitress for our bill, we had been there for 2.5 hours, with much waiting in between. Thankfully our seat was right along the waterfront so we could people watch as we waited, even though it got chilly once the sun went down - we didn't expect to be there so long and didn't bring jackets.

Lovely atmosphere. Visited last night with a friend and we were able to get a fire table while having dinner and drinks. I recommend the sea smoke old fashioned, it was soo good. We both had the surf and turf as an entree. My steak was a little bit overdone but it was still delicious. I wasn’t really a fan of the Korean fried chicken, they just tasted like batter and didn’t have enough sauce. Servers could do better at engaging with the customers, especially when you’re getting tipped on a $300 bill. Will return when I’m in Halifax again!

I'm a seafood lover and a traveler, so when I tasted exceptional dish, I know. They served the best mussels I've ever tasted. Their oyster scallop salmon roe and lobster lollipops were creatively deliciously done!! Beautiful views of the Halifax waterfront in a perfect day!

We stopped for a quick lunch at this restaurant. The patio is on the oceanfront and offers a beautiful view. I had a lobster roll which was delicious and my husband had a Pad Thai, also very tasty. Drinks were cold and they have a great selection of wines, sparkling wines, beers, ciders, cocktails… Great place to rest while strolling around Halifax waterfront.

Cool Atmosphere, Great Drinks – Just Didn’t Hit the Mark for Us This Time We’re giving Sea Smoke a 3 out of 5, but to be fair, we totally see the appeal of this spot and imagine we would’ve enjoyed it more if we’d been able to explore more of the menu. The patio is beautiful, with cozy fire pits right by the water—such a great vibe for an evening out. The drink menu is solid, too. I really enjoyed my craft beer, and my wife was happy with her cocktail—both were well made and refreshing. We didn’t go all in on a full meal, but we did try one of their more unique appetizers—the salmon cigar. It sounded creative and caught our attention, so we gave it a shot. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t our thing. My wife liked it a bit more than I did, but even she wasn’t fully sold on it. That said, props to the kitchen for taking risks and trying something different—you can tell there’s thought and ambition behind the menu. All in all, we didn’t love our experience, but we still respect what Sea Smoke is doing, and would love to come back someday and give the full dinner a proper try when our budget allows it!

Food was pretty good. The ingredients were fairly fresh and tasty. If you order different sushi, it all comes on one plate. This makes it easy to share but could also lead to cross contamination. Service was not too slow and they were able to make changes without a problem. For the ingredients and location the price was reasonable.

The BG - Halifax Beer Garden is a spacious waterfront venue with a rustic atmosphere that offers comfort food made from locally sourced ingredients. It features an outdoor beer garden on Spring Garden Road and has a Good Robot brewery-affiliated outdoor space. The place is adorned with plants, chandeliers, turquoise-tiled walls, and swings, creating a picturesque setting with ample natural lighting. From brunch to dinner, they offer an extensive range of dining options.
Second time here and just as pleased as the first. The perfect patio on the waterfront. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was delicious. Perfectly sauced, lightly toasted bun, tasty slaw. Fries here are great, cooked to crispy, well salted. Pretty well rounded beer selection and lots of canned cocktail/drink options as well.

Great location of the boardwalk in Halifax. Stopped for lunch and grabbed the Georgia Peach beer from Garrison brewery. It was delicious!!!! Being pescatarian I was worried I couldn’t eat the chowder as bacon usually is in the soup…but NO BACON so ordered it with double the seafood. It was $20 for the bowl. Delicious, maybe a bit overpriced but happy to enjoy it. Hubby ordered the lobster Mac and when asking the server the quantity of lobster, she gestured and said a “large” amount. His meal was tasty, but we both were shocked with the little amount of lobster included in his meal. Not worth $35 at all. 👎 Felt taken advantage of and gave us a poor first impression of Halifax. It was our first meal on our first day. Sadly, their rating reflects this. I guess we were lead to believe we’d be eating copious amounts of seafood but sadly not here. I feel both meals weren’t anything more than what we’d get at home on the prairies, and they cost more!

Normally a great spot for beer and snacks on a beautiful day but today was not good. Although not overly busy, the line for getting drinks was long. Then my husband had to go to another bar to get the white wine with a ticket. Once there he was told that they didn’t have any white wine left as they were only open for a few more weeks…huh? He then asked for red wine for me. It came in a tiny amount and he pointed out that it was not a proper size glass. The bartender found another bottle and added to it. It was ice cold from the fridge. I went back and asked if they had anything in red that wasn’t cold. She said they keep it in the fridge since it’s an outdoor bar and that they were closing next week and it was a holiday and they didn’t have their proper order. So many weird excuses from a place that we like to frequent as haligonians who live near by. I guess we will wait until next summer to come back and see if you have more supplies. Oh and my husbands beer was flat.

Best Beer Garden Vibes in Halifax! The Beer Garden is an absolute must if you’re in Halifax. We scored an amazing seat overlooking the water, prime people-watching and sunset-viewing real estate. Even though it was packed, the service was on point and the food was chef’s kiss delicious. They were serving hotdog towers… brought out by staff dressed as hotdogs. Honestly, too cute to handle. Between that and the beer buckets plus slushie towers, the fun factor was off the charts. I was the DD for the night and still felt spoiled, plenty of water and mocktails so I could join in the cheers without the beer buzz. Highly recommend for a night out that’s equal parts tasty, lively, and laugh-filled. 🍻🌭🌊

Visited BG on August 4th to celebrate a friend’s birthday and what follows is a story about a fish taco. The patio was vibing and the sun was hot. As any three females would do on a hot summer birthday celebration, we ordered the daiquiri tower as an appetizer. The menu says a minimum of three people to order the tower and I can see why, it was barely past noon and they had already gone to our heads. To absorb the alcohol we decided to order food. I chose the fish taco, a taco that now gives me flashbacks to a micro phallus I once encountered. Upon arrival, the taco looked presentable enough, even promising, there was no time for introductions and I decided to dig in. At first, I couldn’t feel the fish inside the taco, “was it actually in there?” I thought to myself. But I was drunk and hungry, so I decided to give it a chance anyways. After the first taco, I tried not to be disappointed, maybe it was just a warm-up act, like the opening band that no one came for. Round 2, still a no show. At this point, I began to wonder if the fish was even trying, but given its itty-bitty stature, I suppose it was fighting for its life in there. Now came time for Round 3, the regret and disappointment were my only side dishes and I just wanted to get it over with, so I removed the sad little nub of fish and ate it on its own to get rid of it quickly and finished the taco off by myself so I could feel some sense of satisfaction. When the waiter asked how everything was, I of course lied like any woman in this situation would, I threw on my best Oscar-worthy smile and said, “It was amazing!” I didn’t want to embarrass the taco in public, or worse, ruin someone else’s first fish taco experience. Maybe they wanted something dainty to take their taco virginity. Of course, I had to reassure my friends visiting from Alberta that this was not representative of all East Coast fish tacos. I promised them bigger, bolder, and far more satisfying ones exist, this was just a petite misstep. However we weren’t perturbed by this, we returned to the scene of the crime later that night. All-in-all, would return for the patio and drinks in the future! Perfect location on the waterfront in Halifax.

We enjoyed dinner on the patio at Pickford & Black, with a stunning view of the full moon...it was such a memorable experience! I was thrilled to find several vegetarian options and chose the Mediterranean Bowl, which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. They also have a fantastic mocktail menu! Excellent service & friendly staff. We went on Sunday night at 7pm it wasn’t busy at all. But the food was waaaaaaay over salted. Temperature of food also could’ve been warmer than room temperature. We brought a guest from away with us so it was disappointing.

Great meal and great server! It was about a 5-10 min wait to get a table during the buskers festival so not too bad. The hostess wasn't friendly and looked super over it, but our server was amazing. I split the fish & chips with my kid and it was honestly the best I’ve had in a long time. It was crispy, fresh, and uniquely seasoned. The lemon dill tartar sauce and the fry seasoning were both sooo good. Unfortunately, the coleslaw was a miss for us definitely 0/10 there. My husband had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. He said it lacked seasoning, but once he dipped it in the seasoning from the fries, it became a 10/10 for him. We’d definitely go back for the fish and chips!

Let’s talk about tourism … this is the one establishment that did not discriminate against children. Everything closes early in Halifax and my kids are not used to not being allowed into a restaurant for food. The service and food was excellent. Ate here twice and I would highly recommend it! Especially if you are out after 8 pm with kids! Potato nachos were delicious and the brownie off the kids menu was amazing! Ben our server was knowledgeable and friendly and Nick the manager was genuine and real deal! Come here!

The staff member was lovely and the panini was well made with high-quality ingredients. Lots of good vegetarian options. The only downside is that portions are small considering the price - I enjoyed everything but was hungry again soon after. It would be great to include a small salad, soup, or even plain chips/fries to make it better value.

My first time visiting this lovely cafe. I can’t say enough good things about it. The sandwiches were delicious and the baked goods were excellent but I have to say the best part of this shop was the COFFEE! A touch of class and comfort. This little cafe is something you would expect to see in an urban setting, but it a hidden gem on the Herring Cove Road. It is such a treat to stop here when you are going for a Sunday drive or visiting the area. My husband loves the ambiance and the food and coffees here. Service is usually good, and you can feel the community atmosphere in the cafe. Neighbours know their neighbours. A bit on the pricey side for a coffee shop though. The food they serve is the usual fare of cookies, sweets, and they do serve soups and sandwiches. The soups are very good and worth it I think, and the sandwiches are good, on the gourmet side, not your average sub-shop sandwich.

The park offers picturesque hiking trails like the popular Pennant Point trail, which is perfect for bird-watching and wildlife viewing. With its clear waters and soft sands, this coastal park provides a peaceful sanctuary away from the city. Visitors can explore the 5.
A pretty huge beach with a long hiking trail right behind the sand. 2nd beach is my favorite as it is less busy. Great spot for beach camping too! Not far from the city. Not many mosquitoes like other beaches. Water is pretty cold year around there, recommended for Cold Water Exposure/dipping.

The admission to this provincial park is free and it offers picturesque hiking trails along the ocean and a sandy beach by the ocean. The washrooms are clean and well-maintained; can be lineups at times. Parking can get tricky at times, depending on the time of your arrival. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean, hiking and sat on the rocks and enjoyed the breathtaking view of the ocean.

Great beach, with amazing wide sand and plenty of area to sit, tan, and swim. There are two major parking lots, and access is free. It'll take you a few minutes to get down from the parking lots to your preferred area. There's some areas that are better covered from wind (by rocks or shrubs). There's sections that are boardwalks that take you further in the park.

Nestled along a picturesque coastline, this beach offers an ideal retreat for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The expansive sandy shore provides ample space for relaxation and recreation, complemented by convenient and plentiful free parking—a rare find in many coastal destinations. What sets this beach apart is its adventurous track that winds along the ocean and through lush forests, offering breathtaking views and encounters with natural rock formations. The trail is a perfect blend of tranquility and excitement, ideal for leisurely strolls or more vigorous hikes. The atmosphere here is remarkably serene and quiet, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you’re lounging on the beach, exploring the trails, or simply taking in the scenic vistas, this destination promises a rejuvenating experience amidst nature’s beauty.

In the vibrant city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, there's a burgeoning craft beer scene that's worth exploring. One standout brewery is 2 Crows Brewing Co., located on Brunswick Street in the North End. This industrial-chic brewpub offers a contemporary setting where visitors can savor inventive craft brews and enjoy light fare.
I really liked the dry stout; I could drink it all night. The bartender was friendly and was a good dude to talk to. They had an impressive collection of beers on draft and in cans for takeaway. There was also a nice outdoor area, which is where I sat. It's right next to the Hampton Inn, which is great if you're staying there; you can get drunk and stumble over to bed.

Neat little spot where you can sample the beer and cider that's made on site. You can even see the big brew tanks etc. Decent beer. I had a "fantacity" whitbeer and bought a couple to go. There were also some varieties on tap but nothing that suited me that day. I'd go back and try the other types of beer when in the area though.

Visited a few days ago for a flight of beers. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the beer. It's a little noisy inside (it's an operating brewery in there), but there is some nice outdoor seating as well. I tried many local beers while visiting Halifax and this was my favourite local beer. I had to fly home, otherwise I would have taken 24 to go. I still took a few beers for back at the hotel. If you are into craft beer, check this place out. You won't be disappointed.

2 Stars for 2 Crows – Just Not the Experience We Hoped For Unfortunately, 2 Crows Brewery didn’t really hit the mark for us. Right off the bat, we were put off by a strange smell inside, and the overall vibe just didn’t feel that welcoming. Still, we decided to give it a fair shot. We tried the Blackberry & Apricot Sour and a Double IPA. I thought the IPA was just okay, but my wife didn’t enjoy it, and we both really didn’t care for the sour—the flavour just didn’t sit right. We even tried coming back another day to give it another chance and try their hot dogs and a flight, but when we walked in, we were told they wouldn’t be open until 4:00 PM (despite their usual hours saying 12:00 PM), and there was no notice about the change anywhere online. Also a bit strange that they close at 10:00 PM, especially for a brewery. We genuinely wanted to give this place a fair shake, but between the off atmosphere, lack of communication, and underwhelming drinks, it just didn’t work out for us. Hopefully others have a better experience!

We walked past this place a few times last summer, when we had visitors but hadn't had the chance to go in. Completely blown away with the flavour and portions. These tapas are massive and quite filling. The Patatas bravas became an instant favourite. Chorizo Al Vino Tino was spectacular. Pintxo de Txaka stole the show. The service was just as incredible. Branded, the waiter, was hands-down the most amazing server I’ve ever met, attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional. If paying $64 for this dish is fine for you, then go ahead. But having tips included in the bill feels crazy to me — I want to have the right as a customer to decide whether to leave a tip or not. We love Los Toros. Halifax is our favorite getaway (we live in the U.S.) and we always go straight to Los Toros when we get here. The gambas al ajillo is the best shrimp dish on the Eastern seaboard. The paella is excellent. And the basic sangria is eminently sippable. Servers Paul and Georgia are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. And the restaurant is right on the waterfront. Love it!

Rainbow Haven Beach Provincial Park, located just a short drive from downtown Halifax, is a popular spot for families and beachgoers. The park offers supervised swimming, spacious and sheltered beaches, as well as amenities such as boardwalks, change houses, and showers. Visitors can also enjoy picnicking and walking along the nearby trails.
Clean and well organized beach! Life guards in some areas. Beware of undertow. Lots of staff worked on the property while we were there. Lots of pride shown by staff and locals. Lots of tourists. Although there were a lot of people there when we were there, it did not seem overly crowded. Lots more room on the beach and in the parking lot. Everything is free! There is a very cool food truck selling funky drinks. See pics. Carved out pineapple and melons with drinks inside! We would definitely recommend this beach!

Rainbow Haven Beach Provincial Park is a wonderful place to unwind and take in some beautiful coastal scenery. The beach is very scenic, especially in the evenings. The soft sand and gentle waves make it a great place for a relaxing walk or just to sit and enjoy the view. Visited it on a beautiful summer evening, the cold breeze added a refreshing touch, making it more enjoyable. The park is well-maintained, with clean facilities and ample parking. There are plenty of picnic areas, making it a perfect spot for a family outing or a quiet evening with friends. The surrounding dunes and boardwalks add to the charm, providing a nice blend of natural beauty and easy accessibility.

Beautiful beach. While it is very busy, there is still lots of space to park and lots of places to relax and play in the sand. I really liked the outdoor showers and foot showers because this type of sand sure is sticky!

Can't go wrong with being by the ocean and sandy beach!!! 🏖️ Nice patch of sand, great experience during any day of the week, parking is limited in the off season...popular place!!!

It was cold! ❄️❄️❄️ But still, it's fabulous in winter! But I don't understand, why it is closed in winter? having such a wonderful park not so far from HRM, the parking was not cleaned! Why? It was full of cars today. And all people were struggling with a snow. Sidewalks were not shoveling as well. I believe here will be some changes in this way! 🙏 Outside-winter-walking and hiking is still in demand! And logically, some parks closer to the bigger sites should have operated parking during winter as well. Anyway, a lot of people, dogs were here, at Rainbow Beach today. Lovely weather and sunshine. The Ocean is stunning! ❤️

First visit was the end of June. The sand was clean looking no trash littering the place. Pretty scenery, long walk but gorgeous view of the water and surrounding areas.. Great swimming spot. Great experience. It's worth the visit.

Amazing view and beautiful sunset. This is a great beach to take the family. Nice sandy shoreline. An amazing salty breeze comes in handy on a hot day,but get there early. The parking lot fills up quickly. It's also a good place for birdwatching.

This is a spot where time seems to stand still, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and an expansive horizon that stretches as far as the eye can see. It's an idyllic location for capturing stunning photographs. If you're thinking of visiting, be sure to pack some cozy blankets to ward off the occasional gusts of wind that whip through the area.

Conrad's Beach is a stunning sandy retreat nestled on the Eastern Shore, just before the more popular Lawrencetown Beach. This hidden gem may not be as widely recognized, but it certainly deserves a spot on your travel itinerary. With its expansive stretch of soft sand, it's an ideal location for unwinding with a blanket or enjoying leisurely strolls barefoot along the shore.
Nice beach…too bad we came when the weather was just getting colder. Should come back again during the summer months, I am sure it will be packed!
Mathew L — Google review
I’m almost unwilling to tell you about this spot. I just want to keep it to myself. It’s my magic place. It combines a path through woods and the beach if you do a full loop. If you happen to be there in June, you are always treated with the blooming wild rosehip. Start through the forest, and loop back through the beach - trust me on this. No matter what the weather conditions are, it fills my well with the beauty of the ocean meeting the forest. The walk under the thick canopy of evergreens transports you to a realm reminiscent of long forgotten tales. The transition onto the beach greets you with masses of tangled driftwood. It’s spacious - it gives the sky the main stage while you meander through seaweed and shells. Fox Point reminds you of frailty and eternity if you come here often- it’s visible when the tide is low and barely noticeable when the tide is high. The only complaint: this giant of a beach has the smallest parking space I have ever seen.
Solveiga A — Google review
Beautiful beach. There is a walk down the boardwalk to access it. Lots of dogs off leash so not a good spot if you have a reactive doggo. Cozy and romantic to curl up in the summer evening. Bring bug spray.
Dawn W — Google review
Warm water with waves , dog friendly beach but just be ready to walk a long boardwalk to get to paradise. Really nice hidden gem and I’m sure it’s a local hidden beach. Street parking and be ready to walk but you won’t regret it.
Harry B — Google review
This place is great! The beach is sandy and expansive, dog friendly and the water's not too choppy. If you want a good walk, the beach extends a fair ways, changing to rocky and then changing back to sandy, with plenty of seashells to spot. The sea spray is refreshing and there's only a few patches that were really kelpy when we went. There wasnt any litter on the beach either! If you're a nature lover, the place is also a protected habitat, with signs along the boardwalk with plenty of wonderful views of the area.
Evan Y — Google review
The sandy beach is wide and beautiful. Low tide gives a long stretch of sand and shallow water to wade in

The campground provides fully serviced RV sites as well as bare campsites for tent camping. Situated right on the oceanfront, it allows campers to enjoy secluded spots with beautiful views. Visitors can explore the unspoiled nature of the Eastern Shore and take boat tours or rent canoes to visit the nearby 100 Wild Islands.
Had a wonderful evening stay in one of the new dome that have recently added to the campground, and all I can say is wow! May stay there was so quiet and relaxing. And the view on the water made it evening better. Also the fact there was a small kitchenette included, it was nice that i didn't have to pack alot. Definitely will be staying there again!

We loved MURPHY’s campground! From our arrival to our final day, Ryan and his staff were very helpful and informative. They knew just what we needed when we asked about brewery’s and grocery’s and even gave us two free coffees at a lovely market on our way to Dartmouth. The market had fresh produce and baked goods along with local fare. As an owner of a family business I can say this family cares a lot about their guests and their property. The natural beauty of the property is ever changing and the quiet atmosphere so relaxing. A real gem!

The campground’s location is excellent, especially if you’re a fan of kayaking. The area is exceptional for paddling around the small islands. However, the campground facilities are very outdated. The sites aren’t well maintained, the toilets and showers aren’t very clean, and the campground is a bit messy overall. There’s no place to swim due to algae. I would only recommend it if you’re planning to go kayaking. The location is truly outstanding for that.

Murphy’s Camping on the Ocean offers a truly magical experience when staying in a dome tent. The unique design of the tent allows for breathtaking views of the coastline while providing a cozy, intimate setting. The location is perfect for nature lovers, with easy access to beautiful beaches and scenic hiking trails. The amenities are great, and the friendly staff ensure a warm welcome and a pleasant stay. Listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean at night while nestled in comfort is simply unforgettable. Murphy’s Camping is an excellent destination for anyone seeking a blend of adventure and relaxation in a stunning natural setting!

Wonderful place to stay, and return to. Hosts are amazing. This is a quiet family campground with stunning views. We had site 5 and it was roomy and level. Suggest bringing your own drinking water as the potable water here is a little brown. Evening group campfires are the best! Excellent kayaking around the islands. Water is clear but cold. Watch for the porpoise off the dock!

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal place to unwind.
Great little Brewery in Dartmouth! The atmosphere is very calm and inviting. Staff members were kind and accommodating. A good variety of beer, with lots of unique flavors. The location is wonderful, being right downtown in Dartmouth. I'll definitely be back!

What a fun spot to spend an afternoon in! We popped in for a beer and ended up ordering two flights to try an assortment of beers and split a yummy buffalo chicken hand pie from nearby Humble Pie. All of the beers were yummy and the staff were super friendly! I can see us making this a regular stop on a weekend afternoon.

This was only our second time to Brightwood but it certainly won’t be our last. The atmosphere is so clean, fresh, and happy. The tunes are great. Every product we’ve ever tried has been delicious and bonus - they serve Humble Pie! Yum! I also love the framed vandalism in the bathroom - hilarious. If you love people watching, I highly recommend you snag the table across the window which opens onto the street. Special thanks to Kaykue (sorry if I miss spelled!) for being so warm, welcoming, and friendly on a sunny Sunday. She was super attentive and took great care of us. Hope to see her there again soon!

Halifax Common, also known as the Commons, is Canada's oldest urban park established in 1749. It offers a variety of amenities such as sports facilities, a fountain, and a swimming pool. The park features a grand skating oval and a skateboarding park along with vast open spaces for various activities. Visitors can easily find a peaceful spot to relax with a book amidst the bustling streets and buildings of Halifax.
Access is completely free but limited by the number of people, they put a bracelet to distinguish the shifts. They have different schedules, each shift is for one hour. The pool water is very clean, it has an area for children. There are lockers, bathrooms and showers on site. For children there are different types of floats It is a great place to enjoy in the summer, my family and I love this place
Erika M — Google review
Nice area to spend on a sunny day, and there's also the Oval that you can go ICE skating fro free during the winter! Both season have fun stuff, lol
David A — Google review
What an incredible park! The oval with rentals of bikes, blades, boards, skates is such an asset to the community. The skatepark has tons of great features, new and old, and I definitely could spend hours here working on different tricks. Strongly recommend checking this skate park out. Only draw back is that there are some big cracks between the transitions from concrete to asphalt. Talking to local skaters, I understand that this is being redone soon. Stoked to go back.
Ca M — Google review
The commons is a great little green space with lots to see and do. The oval is there for the kids to do things in all seasons and it is always bustling. Great place to eat lunch or read a book. Walk your dog or get a jog in. There’s a skate park and playground so lots of options for the whole family.
Jenna — Google review
A really nice park in a great location. However, this park is more geared toward the local community instead of tourists. There are softball diamonds, a skating loop in the winter, plenty of wide open green space that is often filled with people and their various sporting activities. There's a big skate park on the other side of the road and it's a great spot for larger events. They do currently have a plan in place to revitalise the space, but I don't think it will be done soon.
Andrew B — Google review
A beautiful and very valuable space in the heart of the city. This is one of my favourite places in the city and makes me proud of Halifax every time I am here. This is a true gift to the residents of Halifax. It has baseball fields, cycling tracks, the ice skating and recreational Oval, free skate and roller skate/blade rentals, as well as tons of space for people to do their own activities on the commons area. I frequently see people playing lawn games here, reading books, flying kites, learning how to cycle or skate, and generally just enjoying the space.
Krista W — Google review
This is by far the best skatepark i’ve ever seen. park is cool and people are also really nice ! i highly recommand going there
Yannick X — Google review
I walk through this area almost every day. The fields are great for laying, doing yoga, playing with your pup, or a game of baseball. This is an awesome community area that lets you relax and while still inside a city, enjoy a big green field. The oval is also great with being able to skate in the winter or bike in the summer, the concerts here are fantastic and there is even a skate park.

The Barrington Hotel is a business hotel located conveniently near the Halifax Citadel and the harbor, making it an ideal choice for both business travelers and tourists. The hotel offers standard rooms with free WiFi, an indoor pool, and a fitness center. Despite the older design of the rooms, guests appreciate the efforts made by the hotel to enhance their stay, such as adding more lights and electrical outlets for convenience. Additionally, this pet-friendly hotel provides spacious and comfortable accommodations for guests traveling with up to two pets.
This hotel has amazing staff! From the front desk, to security to the restaurant. Hands down one of the few places we have stayed where the customer service was outstanding everywhere you turned. For this I give them 5 🌟. We stayed in a king size room. It had a view of the lovely courtyard and was very clean. Highly recommend!

Its OK. Positive - LOCATION, easy to get from. Airport transit, Staff nice and the Restaurant is hopping, Lobby is clean rooms water pressure and shower head great. Negative Rooms are dated, showing major age, mattress were so squeaky and sheets did not fit mattress, major stain bottom side of mattress, no fan in washroom, vents were dirty, Sauna in women's bathroom did not work Its a solid 3 not anymore than that.
Melissa P — Google review
There is definitely a reason this hotel has a no refund policy. It is dated but not in the quaint or charming way, more in the “maybe it has not been updated since the early 90s” way. My room had bugs, which was a nice little surprise I did not ask for. Housekeeping only comes after three days which might be fine if the place felt clean to begin with but it did not. To make it worse the cleaning staff I overheard were loudly complaining about how much they hate cleaning… which is hard to get behind when they only show up once in a five day stay. There is almost no sound proofing. By 6am you are woken up by constant banging, most likely from the GoodLife gym below. Nothing like being forced into early morning cardio without actually working out yourself. No waters were left in the room which is kind of basic hospitality 101. The one bright spot was the front desk staff who were kind and professional. Unfortunately that did not make up for everything else. Overall I would say if you are looking for a restful stay, maybe bring earplugs, cleaning supplies, and a sense of humor. You are going to need all three.
Nicole G — Google review
This was a nice location - close to the water front board walk where lots of restaurants are. Not the best pool area as there is no hot tub and it takes forever for the saunas to heat up and I saw bugs crawling around inside of it. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the lobby restaurant had good dine in food and a nice selection of grab and go options for a quick snack. Shout out to Lisa being a great server at the Tempo restaurant!
Kathleen H — Google review
Worst experience i have ever had at a hotel. The front desk has zero idea of what they are doing. Took us over an hr waiting on them to figure out our reservation. Zero parking on site and cost almost 50 dollers for 4 hours where they recommend you park. If you have elderly with you drop them off before parking cause you'll do a good 10- plus minute walk from car to hotel. Rooms are extremely outdated. Wallpaper was peeling off. Pool was gross workout room was very tiny, To where only a few people at a time could work out and you would still be in there space. No hot tub. Best thing about this hotel is location. Definitely not worth the 300 plus a night. Look else where cause this place is a serious joke.
Cody — Google review
Place was nice and the staff were very friendly but the men's sauna wasn't working which was a let down. The rooms are also very old looking, a more modern renovation would be a good idea but overall a great hotel. Staff forgot to empty the compost in our room from the last guest but we appreciated that you actually had compost.
Dejan D — Google review
Could catch a peek of the bay, from our room. Walking distance to pier. Spacious room and very comfy. Price reasonable,, considering we were 3 blocks from the pier. Great restaurant attached for breakfasts we had during our stay. Waitress was a charm.
Fran S — Google review
Excellent central location in Downtown but I had no WiFi during 3 of my 4-day stay, for which they only credited $60 to my account as compensation (?) For a hotel charging what they charge they should be putting more dollars back into infrastructure. My room felt outdated, run down and unclean. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful but the internal infrastructure MUST improve (see pictures).

Loved our week stay here! Halifax is a beautiful city! Hotel is very convenient to the downtown harbor area. The walk is up and downs hills, so be prepared! Hotel is right next to the historic Citadel! Rooms are nice sized and very clean. Housekeeping staff is incredibly friendly and asks if you require any additional help. Breakfast is different types of eggs, potatoes and meats in addition to waffles and breads. Kitchen staff is friendly and quick to keep items stocked! We saw the Ops Mgr at Breakfast a couple days. He took time to greet guests and offer suggestions on things to see/do. He also had no problem bussing your table! Very impressive touch! Front desk staff is wonderful, greeting guests as they came and left the lobby. Would definitely recommend this property while staying in Halifax which we hope to again soon!

This is a lovely hotel well situated. We stayed for 2 nites. Parking is on site and plentiful. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and spacious. But the star of the show was Hedy our reception person. She was kind, patient, and informative giving us lots of information to make our stay wonderful! Hilton is lucky to have her representing their brand.
Susie C — Google review
The hotel was very clearly understaffed for a high-volume weekend. Even after checking in through the Hilton app we needed to stand in line for 30+ minutes — digital key cards weren’t working. While check in begins at 3pm, rooms were not yet ready at 4pm. Was told it would be a 10 minute wait and we could not get a room key until the room was prepared. Instead we received a key pass for parking and then headed out for dinner. At 5 pm, we then were required to wait in line for another 30 minutes to finally get our room key. As an “apology” for our wait and inconvenience we were given two bottles of water… The next morning, after getting breakfast, our room keys were no longer working. Had to wait another 10 minutes at 8:30 am to have them updated. In addition, I received a call two days prior to our stay that my payment card was not approved and they threatened to cancel my reservation. I rectified this the next morning by calling the front desk. Then while checking in, once again I was told my payment method was rejected. This was frustrating because it becomes questionable when I update my info and they then claim to not have it. For $460 this was the most inconvenient hotel stay ever. Unfortunately, as a high-volume weekend, it was the best price available in the city. Next time I’ll shell out for a better venue.
Christina G — Google review
We just finished the stay at the Hampton Inn. The location is great as it's really close to downtown and a short walk to the waterfront. We had a harbour view room, which was very nice. And the breakfast bar was a nice touch, and the customer service was pretty standard, nothing really above and beyond. As Google states, this is a 3 star hotel. So please set your expectations to match. Unfortunately, our room was not adequately cleaned prior to our stay. When arriving we found a Mike's Hard lemonade can by our bed and old honey roasted peanuts on the floor of the room. Thankfully, no one in our family has a peanut allergy. We mentioned this to reception who was very apologetic and took care of our parking charge for the inconvenience. When we went to use the bathroom, we found pink bacteria growing in the grout and around the corners of the tub. This would mean that the shower and tub have not been cleaned properly for quite sometime, not just 1 or 2 days. That bacteria begins to grow usually after a few weeks. When we went to use the shower, the drain was so clogged that water would rise above my ankles within 1 to 2 minutes. I kept having to stop the shower to let it drain and then restart. The idea of standing in a pool of clogged drain water is absolutely revolting, and I immediately regretted getting in the shower the second the water started to rise. Unfortunately, the bathroom sink is also so clogged that it would not properly drain either. Finally, when my son was using the pool last night there was a used bandaid floating around. This was mentioned to the front desk upon checkout, they apologized and asked to send an email to them so they could advise housekeeping. I have already sent that email. This definitely isn't a hotel that is up to the Hilton standard we've experienced at other locations.

Wow, what a great stay at the Hampton. I’ve stayed in Halifax many times, but never at this chain or location. I was a bit nervous about how the full week would be, and it was amazing. The staff, I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff. From check in, to breakfast, to check out, and everywhere in between, they were over the top helpful and friendly. When you ask for something, it isn’t just an answer telling you where to look, it’s them helping you find it. A hello is always followed by a ‘how are you doing’. I’d give a special shout out to the building engineer who helped me find the stairs (and had a great chat with me about how important it is to get your steps in). Sir, you have sick ink, and a really kind approach to people. Also, to the check in clerk whose father is a retiring Coastie, you were wonderfully kind, and so helpful! Lastly, the room cleaning crews do an awesome job, some of the cleanest and best turned-over rooms I’ve ever stayed in. 11/10.

Stayed here for 3 nights with a family of 4. Awesome staff, helpful and engaged. Hot breakfast buffet is a worthy incentive, good food which varied each morning, also got a waffle machine if you’re picky. Room is modern, in good condition and well kept. Pool is clean and maintained but can get quickly crowded (its small). Gym has a good variety of equipment, no bench press if thats your thing. Parking can be a bit of an issue, if you get a rental make sure you talk with reception desk for arrangements depending on your needs. Location is good with walking distance to everything downtown. 5 min walk to the bus terminal for the 320 regional express that travels between the airport if you want to save $50 on uber/taxi (buy tickets on the hfxgo app - make sure you get the regional express ticket) All in all great hotel would definitely recommend.

Awful hotel. The toilet is off the flange shaking. It's like sitting on a rocking boat. The air conditioner seemed noisy, and being an hvac professional , I had a look. The filter in the unit, has not been changed since December of 2024. It is now the 31st of August, 2025. The filter in that unit should be changed every 3 months at the very maximum. Its is clogged solid, and disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Hotel front desk told me there is nothing they could do for us, and the filter can not be changed until the next day, after our checkout. Stay somehere else.

An exceptional facility with a well trained and caring staff. Seems, they have had renovations recently because the hotel looks like new inside. The pool, the gym, the dining area and the room with the corridors - I have nothing to complain about. Spent 5 nights with the family and we didn't regret any moment. We enjoyed our 4 nights stayed with our kids and dog. I was so anxious reading the review priors to staying regarding bedbugs, but everything turns out great!! They are dog friendly, however we have to be on the first floor which is understandable. They have everything one can asked for at a hotel. The breakfast option is good. However, I wished that their pancakes machine wasn’t broken. Other than that, we had a great time!

The reception staff are wonderful, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the morning breakfast is so much better than Holiday Inn Express, where we normally stay. A shout-out to Margaret and Lisa, who went above and beyond to make the mornings brighter. I loved the fact that they have a large automatic Nespresso machine where you just select the coffee you want and it is made by the breakfast staff. It was superb coffee every single time. They will even make it for you to go. There was plenty of parking and no issues whatsoever throughout our stay. Will definitely recommend.

My wife and I had a great stay. For where we wanted to explore it was a great location 20 min drive to anywhere we wanted to go. The staff were super friendly. The rooms were very clean. Highly recommend.

The hotel is fine, a bit high priced but here are my concerns. The room has a musty smell which is probably due to the lack of exhaust fan in the bathroom. The moisture beads on the ceiling indicate a moisture issue. Also the shower curtain isn’t hung high enough on the wall so the curtain hangs down in the tub and is a tripping hazard for us )elderly) and is gross to step on considering it never dries. Also the tv works sometimes and sometimes not. The picture will just disappear but you still have sound.. I showed the front desk the picture of the shower curtain and asked him to trim it but he said no - they are quite expensive and to just move it outside the tub. He gave us extra towels to sop up the water that will be flowing onto the floor. 🤷‍♀️🤯 The water pressure is great though. A little disappointing considering the cost. Edited to say: I want to correct my statement about the bathroom not having an exhaust fan. It DOES. It just isn’t working and that’s why even though we shower with the bathroom door open, the mirror still steams up and there are beads of water on the ceiling and running down the walls. Also, the breakfast is awesome!! Location is awesome! Everything else is fine or great.

Just stayed at this hotel and it was everything and more! We were quite impressed with the all inclusive breakfast as it had a lot of options and a variety of Nespresso coffee 🤤 The rooms were very clean and tidy plus sounds funny but the showers were very nice!! The water pressure was great and the water is able to get very hot! Plus I’m obsessed with the shampoo/conditioner/body wash they had in the bathrooms and I’m hoping to buy the same brand for my home! Definitely recommend! 🩷

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The room was far from clean — poor hygiene, dusty surfaces, and an overall lack of proper upkeep. The air in the room was not breathable, with a constant stinky odor that made it very uncomfortable to stay in. The service was equally disappointing, with little to no attention to guest needs. For the price charged, I expected far better standards — but this was crazy expensive for what felt like a budget-level experience. Overall, this has been one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. Definitely not worth the money and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Extremely well run hotel. Staff was excellent and very helpful. The breakfast was very good and had many options. The hotel is located right off the highway beside a large plaza with everything you would need within walking distance which made it very convenient. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Bedford area.
