The Eiffel Tower, an iconic symbol of Paris and France, was completed in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel. Despite initial plans for its demolition after two years, the tower has endured as one of the city's most popular attractions. With its 18,038 pieces of metal, it offers three floors and options to ascend via stairs or lifts. Visitors can also enjoy restaurants and bars inside. The tower's lighting effects at night are a must-see.
A Magical Day at the Eiffel Tower I visited the Eiffel Tower today and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment I stepped onto the Champ de Mars, the Iron Lady’s latticework felt both grand and surprisingly graceful. The views from the top are breathtaking—Paris stretches out in every direction like a living postcard, with the Seine curving through the city and landmarks popping up everywhere you look. The experience felt smooth and well-organized. Staff were friendly, and even with the crowds, the lines moved faster than I expected. I loved taking my time on each level—there’s something special about pausing with a coffee and just soaking in the panorama. As evening fell, the tower’s sparkle made the whole scene feel downright romantic and cinematic. If you’re planning a visit, I’d recommend booking tickets ahead of time and going a bit before sunset so you catch daylight, golden hour, and the first twinkle after dark. Whether you take the elevator or brave the stairs, the journey itself is part of the fun. All in all, today’s visit was unforgettable. The Eiffel Tower isn’t just a must-see—it’s a must-feel. Five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

• No ticket needed: You don’t have to buy a ticket to enter the tower or queue for elevators—just pick a great external vantage and you’re free to shoot at your own pace. • Excellent photo spots nearby: Many well-documented locations give iconic Tower views from outside—e.g., Rue de l’Université, Rue de Buenos‑Aires, Avenue de Camoëns. These spots are highlighted in photographer guides as “hidden” or less-crowded alternatives. • Flexible timing: Because you’re not tied to a ticket time, you can go early morning, late evening, or at twilight to capture different lighting and mood. • Lower cost: Skipping entrance means saving time and money, and focusing instead on the view and atmosphere. • Great for casual or photographic visits: If your priority is the Tower in your photo, rather than ascending it, this approach works perfectly. ⸻ ⚠️ What to keep in mind • You miss the “inside” experience: You won’t go up into the tower, see its internal architecture, or get panoramic views from heights—it’s purely an “outside vantage” experience. • Crowds/lines possible at popular spots: Even external photo spots can be crowded (especially the very popular ones like Trocadéro or Rue de l’Université). Some guides warn of “many people” even at street viewpoints. • Lighting & viewpoint selection matter: Good photos depend heavily on time of day, weather, background composition (street, river, buildings). If you go at the wrong time you may get harsh light or less dramatic angle. • Expect standard viewpoint, not “secret”: Many external spots now appear in photo-spot guides and social media; so while you’re not entering the tower, you might share the view with others. • Still some cost/time: If you go out for the trip, you’ll still invest time (walking, transport) to reach a good baseline vantage.

Great view from the top (actually 2nd floor is enough, don't have to go all the way to the top unless you want to pay extra, IMHO). All that metal took 2 years 2 months amd 5 days to put together. 328 steps to the 1st floor, and probably the same on the way down. They do have bathrooms on the floors thankfully. I feel I earned the right to take the elevator back down. Make sure to buy online tickets in advance, they get booked up fast! Also having an e-ticket gets you into the fast line!
Jay K — Google review
We walked up the stairs to the second floor which was a right mission... but so worth it the views as you walk up are brilliant. Had a refreshment stop before heading to the top via the elevator. Stunning views of the city on a very clear fine day...

The Most Iconic Photo Backdrop in the World! As a photographer, I've shot in many beautiful places, but nothing compares to the magic of the Eiffel Tower. I recently had a photoshoot here, and the location is simply breathtaking. It’s more than just a landmark; it's the heart of Paris. The architecture is stunning from every angle - whether you are shooting from Trocadéro for the classic view, or from the banks of the Seine, or even the charming side streets. Yes, it can be crowded, but that is part of the vibrant atmosphere. The results are always worth it. The photos aren't just pictures; they are timeless memories filled with romance and Parisian charm. For any couple or individual wanting to capture the spirit of Paris, this is the location. I'm attaching a few photos from my session to show its beauty!

It's just a miracle. The best place I've ever seen. I recommend it to absolutely everyone. The spirit is breathtaking. And in the evening it's even better because it shimmers. I recommend climbing the tower, the views are beautiful.

What more to say that has not been said or expressed? This is truly one of the reasons why you wanted to visit Paris. Overall it was safe and magical. We have spent a decent amount of time and different angles of the tower and each is truly beautiful and romantic. Just be mindful with your surroundings and you should be ok. Never felt worried or unsafe while visiting Paris, and we did a lot of walking tours and local neighbourhood visits that just show how beautiful Paris is!

I don't know how you could not give this iconic structure anything less than five stars. Rain or shine, day or night (because it's lit up), the thing looks beautiful from any direction anytime. The only downside is dealing with all the touts trying to sell you something within eyesight of it. TIP: You'll get the best pictures from the other side of the river, and especially if you go right to the end of the park where you are at a higher elevation.

Champ de Mars is a spacious public green area situated in front of the Eiffel Tower, offering stunning views of the iconic landmark. It's a favorite spot for locals to gather for picnics and socializing when the weather is pleasant. The park features picturesque pathways lined with blossoming trees, ponds, and playgrounds, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
One of the best spot to look, view, take pictures, relax and seat while enjoying the sunset of the city. It's more quiet and less crowded but you can still see the beauty of Eiffel Tower.✨️🇨🇵❣️

Champ de Mars is one of the most beautiful spots in Paris to relax and take in the view of the Eiffel Tower. The park is spacious, well-kept, and perfect for a stroll, a picnic, or just sitting back to enjoy the atmosphere. Families, couples, and friends all gather here, and it feels lively but peaceful at the same time. It’s especially magical at sunset, when the sky glows behind the Eiffel Tower, and even more so at night when the tower begins to sparkle. There’s plenty of room to spread out, and the lawns are perfect for relaxing after walking through the city. A must-visit if you want that picture-perfect Paris experience with the Eiffel Tower as your background.

Absolutely amazing! Champ de Mars is one of the most beautiful spots in Paris — the view of the Eiffel Tower is simply breathtaking, especially at sunset when the lights start to sparkle. The park is spacious, clean, and perfect for a picnic, a walk, or just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to feel the magic of Paris!
Patrick J — Google review
The Champ de Mars is one of the most iconic and picturesque spots in Paris, and visiting it was truly a highlight of my trip. Nestled right in front of the Eiffel Tower, this expansive public park offers one of the best open views of the tower, making it a perfect location for photography, picnics, or just relaxing and taking in the scenery. During the day, the park is filled with people lounging on the grass, families with children, and tourists snapping photos. It’s a peaceful place to take a break from the city bustle. The lawns are well-maintained and spacious, allowing plenty of room to spread out, even when it's busy. In the evening, the vibe shifts. As the Eiffel Tower begins to sparkle, the Champ de Mars transforms into a magical gathering place. People bring blankets, snacks, and even wine to enjoy the view. The sunset over the tower is a must-see and makes for incredible photos. There are also street vendors around, offering snacks and souvenirs, and the whole area feels safe and welcoming. Plus, it's a great spot for a casual stroll, whether you're on your own, with friends, or as a couple. If you’re planning to visit the Eiffel Tower, make sure to spend some time in the Champ de Mars—it’s the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of Paris at your own pace.

Great views, relaxed vibe, and perfect for Eiffel Tower moments Champ de Mars is one of those places that makes you stop and take it all in. It’s a huge open park stretching out from the Eiffel Tower, and it’s perfect for relaxing, having a picnic, or just sitting and watching the world go by. I came here in the late afternoon and stayed until the Eiffel Tower lights came on — the sparkle at night is honestly magical from here. It can get crowded in some spots, especially closer to the tower, but there’s plenty of space to spread out. Street vendors are everywhere (some can be pushy), but it’s manageable. Overall, it’s a great spot to unwind and enjoy one of the most iconic views in the world.
Kerry B — Google review
The Champs de Mars is a great place to get incredible views and photo opportunities of the Eiffel Tower - we were here in October so the grass areas closer to the tower were just dirt, a little further down the gardens the grass was still green and lush, and the surrounding trees and bushes still gave a good framework for the tower.
Jamie H — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beautiful place to relax and enjoy the view! The Champ de Mars is the perfect spot to admire the Eiffel Tower up close and take amazing photos. Lots of green space, a peaceful atmosphere, and stunning views – especially in the evening when the tower lights up. Great for a picnic, a walk, or just relaxing and soaking in the Paris vibe. 🌳✨🇫🇷

The Arc de Triomphe is an iconic triumphal arch located in the 8th arrondissement district of Paris. It was constructed between 1806 and 1836 to honor Napoleon's military victories during the first French Empire. The monument stands at 164 feet tall and 148 feet wide, adorned with intricate designs on its four arches.
Visiting the Arc de Triomphe for the first time was truly amazing. Standing beneath this monumental arch, I could really feel the weight of history and the beauty of its design. Every carving and detail tells a story, and being there in person made me appreciate it so much more than just seeing it in pictures. Climbing the 284 steps to the top was a challenge, but absolutely worth it—the view of Paris stretched out in every direction, with the Eiffel Tower standing tall and the Champs-Élysées looking endless. The view was breathtaking and made the whole experience unforgettable. It’s one of those places that captures the magic of Paris in a single moment.

【Quick Summary】A spectacular view of Paris at night! The illuminated Arc de Triomphe and the sparkling Eiffel Tower view from the top are absolutely breathtaking. 【Purpose of Visit】Perfect for an evening visit, especially for night view appreciation, right after checking in on your arrival day. ✅ Experience (Highlights) After a flight from Tokyo, we checked into the hotel around 4 PM and headed straight to the iconic Arc de Triomphe. * ✅ The View from the Arc: While the illuminated Arc de Triomphe itself is grand and full of charm, **the Eiffel Tower's sparkle illumination (Champagne Flash) seen clearly from the top of the Arc is truly unmissable.** * By visiting during the transition from dusk to night, we enjoyed a complete panorama: the grandeur of the Arc, the lights along the Champs-Élysées, and the dazzling sparkle of the Eiffel Tower. * ✅ Final Impression: I believe everyone who witnesses this view will fall in love with Paris. It was a magical moment—the highlight of a perfect Parisian evening.

An iconic monument that beautifully captures the spirit and history of France! 🇫🇷 The Arc de Triomphe, commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1806, honors those who fought and died for France during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. The intricate carvings and sculptures are stunning, and the eternal flame beneath it pays tribute to the Unknown Soldier — a deeply moving sight. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking, offering a perfect 360° view of Paris and the Champs-Élysées. Visit around sunset to see the city glow and the Eiffel Tower sparkle — truly unforgettable! ✨
Ashmeet S — Google review
The Arc de Triomphe is one of Paris’s most iconic monuments — bold, majestic, and deeply symbolic. Standing at the top of the Champs-Élysées, it commands attention from every angle, perfectly aligned with the avenue and the city’s twelve radiating boulevards. Built on the orders of Napoleon I to honor the French armies, the arch carries incredible detail — from sculpted victories to engraved names of generals and battles. Seeing it up close, you realize how massive it really is, far larger and more imposing than photos suggest. I visited recently, and the experience was unforgettable. The monument stands proudly at the Place Charles de Gaulle, surrounded by a never-ending swirl of traffic, yet it somehow feels peaceful once you step onto the pedestrian walkway beneath it. You can climb to the top terrace (about 280 steps), and the view is absolutely worth it — the Eiffel Tower, La Défense, and the Champs-Élysées stretch out in perfect symmetry. If you time it around sunset, Paris glows golden, and the city truly feels eternal. “A symbol of victory, memory, and beauty — standing atop the Arc de Triomphe feels like standing at the heart of Paris itself.”
Amrit D — Google review
I visited the observatory in spring, summer, autumn and winter because the colours around the Arc de Triomphe change with each season, and they are beautiful. The view is also different by day and by night; while the Eiffel Tower offers a lovely panorama, the Champs-Élysées seen from here, especially at night, is even more striking and well worth the climb. Most people do not take the lift but climb the very narrow circular stone staircase, so those with mobility issues or the elderly should use the lift instead. Tickets must be purchased in advance for your preferred time slot on the official website. The staff at the ticket desk are very friendly, so if you need assistance, simply queue and they will be glad to help.

One of the most iconic and must-visit landmarks in Paris, located near Charles de Gaulle–Étoile station. From this point, twelve grand avenues radiate outward, with the world-famous Champs-Élysées being one of them, leading all the way to Place de la Concorde. The area is rich in history and architectural beauty, offering stunning views and plenty of photo opportunities. It’s a wonderful place to take a leisurely walk, enjoy the lively Parisian atmosphere, and admire the surrounding cafés, shops, and monuments. A visit here is truly a classic Paris experience!

Just visited the iconic Arc de Triomphe in Paris and I'm still pinching myself! This monumental arch was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to honor his Grande Armée and was finally completed in 1836. The monument's sheer grandeur and historical significance left me in awe. The views from the top are breathtaking, with the City of Light stretching out in every direction. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the eternal flame add a poignant touch to this symbol of French national pride. A must-visit for anyone traveling to Paris!
Souad Y — Google review
It's a super cool and intricate sculpture/monument but I was a bit disappointed. I assume it's because there's not much to do once you're here aside from looking at it. There is the ability to go on top of it, which I'm sure would've made it incredibly memorable, but the line was huge. Still incredibly enjoyable to observe all the different sculptures found encrusted along the sides. There was also a busker with an accordion playing some great tunes in the tunnel there. The most fun thing though is watching other tourists attempt to cross twelve lanes of traffic like a bunch of headless chickens.

Place de la Concorde, the largest public square in Paris, is a historic site with a dark past as the location of guillotine executions during the French Revolution. This majestic square features fountains, statues, and an ancient Egyptian obelisk known as the Luxor Obelisk. It serves as a connecting point between the Tuileries Gardens and the Champs-Elysees.
Nice and beautiful square where you can look to some of the most famous buildings from Paris. The place is clean and well preserved. I truly recommend you to visit this area if you’re near Paris downtown.

Place de la Concorde is one of the most beautiful and historic spots in Paris. The view is breathtaking — especially at sunset when you can see the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Élysées, and the Tuileries Gardens all from one place. Place de la Concorde is great for selfies, but there’s not much to do if you stay longer. Busy streets all around, so it’s not exactly the best spot for breathing exercises — or even for kisses. You’ll find much healthier places just a short walk away by the Seine!

A fantastic gift from Egypt 🇪🇬 to France 🇫🇷, the Luxor Obelisk is the oldest monument in Paris (over 3,000 years old!). It stands on the former Place de la Révolution, where Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were beheaded. Thanks to Champollion, its hieroglyphs were finally deciphered!

When you first arrive, the scale of the square hits you. It’s the largest square in Paris, and you immediately feel that openness compared to the narrow cobblestone streets that surround much of the city. Standing there, you get a sense of being in the middle of something grand, with wide views stretching out in every direction. • To the west, your eyes follow the iconic Champs-Élysées, leading your gaze straight toward the Arc de Triomphe. • To the east, the pathway points toward the Tuileries Garden and the Louvre, which are only a short walk away. • To the north, you see the elegant façades of the Hôtel de Crillon and the French Naval Ministry. • To the south, the River Seine glimmers, with the Eiffel Tower peeking out in the distance if you angle your view just right. It’s like standing at a crossroads of Paris — everything seems connected from this central point.

Girafe Restaurant is a luxurious fine dining spot with a 1930s glamour style and impeccable interior design by Joseph Dirand. It offers stunning views of the Paris skyline, including the iconic Eiffel Tower. The restaurant is renowned for its fresh seafood dishes and top-notch service.
Dining at Girafe is nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you arrive, you know you’re in for something unforgettable. Yes, the panoramic view of the Eiffel Tower takes your breath away. Yes, the service is impeccable—graceful, attentive, and flawlessly orchestrated. Yes, the wine selection is refined and extensive. But what makes Girafe so remarkable is the way all of these elements merge into one singular, dazzling Parisian experience. The menu is a masterpiece, offering a wide and thoughtfully curated selection of dishes. Every bite bursts with flavor, but the lobster ravioli deserves a standing ovation—an indulgence so exquisite it lingers in memory long after the meal ends. Each plate is as artful as it is delicious, with presentation as luxurious as the restaurant’s glamorous, posh décor. Girafe delivers on every promise of five-star dining: the setting, the cuisine, the service, and above all, the sense that you’re living a moment you’ll treasure forever. It isn’t simply dinner—it’s Paris at its most magical. A meal here is truly a memory in the making, not to be missed.

This restaurant became one of my favorite places in Paris! The view is amazing, however, it was disappointing to find out that during dinner time (in October at least) the terrace is closed. Apart from that, the interior is super well decorated - keep in mind that the restaurant is quite small so you need a reservation. The food was very delicious and well presented but as expected pricey. The service was on point as well. Definitely recommend a visit if you are looking for a fancy and delicious dinner!

This was such a great experience. We had wanted to go the last time we were in Paris, but we couldn’t get a reservation. This time, we were prepared! The atmosphere is absolutely stunning, with beautiful decor, an amazing view, and really tasteful table settings. Our waiter was super attentive and did a great job explaining our choices. When one of the items we had ordered unexpectedly ran out, he offered us a complementary taste of a dish, as well as a replacement. The food was incredible; every course. I also got the basil mocktail and it blew my mind. The price is absolutely worth the indulgent experience. I will absolutely be coming here again.

I can't explain how magical this place is! It's not your typical "luxury" restaurant where you pay an exaggerated amount and only get a snack. Absolutely not! The food is DELICIOUS, the plates are large and presented in a very elegant way. I was served by Luis, and he always kept an eye on my table, He gave me recommendations when ordering dessert and took some beautiful photos of my husband and me! Definitely an unforgettable day.

Unforgettable Experience with Eiffel Tower Views. Giraffe Paris is easily one of the most stunning dining spots in the city. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, and the terrace offers a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower (Perfect for photos). The service is exceptional, friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The staff go out of their way to make the experience smooth and enjoyable. The food and cocktails are excellent, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Getting a reservation can be tricky, so here’s a tip: call about a week in advance, or if you’re already in Paris, stop by the restaurant in person and ask directly at the counter, they’re very kind and often help you find a slot. Whether you’re visiting for a romantic dinner, a special celebration, or simply want to enjoy an unforgettable view, Giraffe Paris is absolutely worth it. A must-visit for anyone looking to experience the best of Paris in one setting.

The restaurant is located right outside the exit of the Metro station inside the building ( you can see the stairs to the building from the exit of the metro station; climb the stairs and straight inside you get to Girafe) and that kind of made it convenient though it took us a bit to get in there. Rain Gods went in full blaze and as a result the outside seating was closed though the inside seating is pretty well done and the interiors really make it standout. We ordered yellowtail sashimi, king prawn, crab salad and the Sea Bream ceviche. The salad and prawn seemed to taste ok though the rest of the dishes really stood out especially the ceviche with the sauce.

We wanted to order a bottle of champagne that was listed on the menu, but they told us they prefer to keep their stock for people ordering by the glass… what? 🤔 I had the truffle pasta, couldn’t taste any truffle at all. My friend ordered a steak and it was completely overcooked. Such a beautiful place, but unfortunately the service and food were really disappointing.

Best service and dining experience in a while! I was apprehensive after seeing some reviews complaining the staff were rude, definitely the opposite and the kindest reception ever! Highly recommended, and they were good with dietary restriction for me (gluten) Highly recommend the ice cream sharer and king crab starter It's a bit difficult to find and could do with some instructions to help locate it better, it's in a massive building shared with the national theatre!

Le Petit Vendôme is a charming bistro located near the elegant Place Vendôme in Paris. It's known for serving up regional classics, daily specials, and most notably, exceptional sandwiches. The restaurant is a popular spot for locals who line up on weekdays to order freshly-made sandwiches from the blackboard by the counter. The atmosphere is unpretentious and colorful, offering a taste of authentic Parisian dining.
Great Cafe culture. The staff was helpful & friendly. The service is relaxed. They even brought us water so the myth of having to buy bottled water is not true. The sandwich was outstanding. The charcuterie was the bomb! - Cured 3 kinds of salami - Camembert cheese - Sandwich - Fillet Mignon - Dessert of Pear Tart & Pot de creme

This restaurant was recommended by a French gentleman in Paris, but honestly, the food was quite disappointing 😅. We ordered steak, duck, cheese, and onion soups. All of them were rather bland and not tasty at all, except for the French fries served with the steak. I wouldn’t visit this place again in Paris since there are so many better restaurants around. It’s mainly famous for its sandwiches and there’s always a long queue. I’d recommend getting a sandwich to go instead of dining in. Cheese was amazing tho!

The sandwich was very good, but I don't know that it's worth a long queue to take away. A better option, if you can swing it, is to get a seat at the bar. I went by myself and had no trouble finding a single seat. By the time I left, there seemed to be a short wait. Once at the bar, you're treated to a show: Philippe (I think that's his name) seems to run everything behind the counter, and he kindly and quickly delivered my sandwich and wine. When I asked for a glass of water, he was quick to oblige with a smile. The other benefit of being at the bar is you can talk with anyone who seems social nearby. The lovely gentleman to my right lifted his fresh beer to my wine with an, "à votre santé!" as we both admired the chocolate filled choux pastries placed right near us, waiting to be delivered to a nearby table. I've heard you can only order the sandwiches at the bar. Be prepared to bring cash as they don't take CB for anything under €13. After watching the people working so hard in front of you while you eat, you might just want to round up your cash payment by a few extra euros as a tip. Being relatively shy, I was intimidated by the hustle and bustle of the interior as I passed by at first, but then I turned around and forced myself to go in to see what the hype was all about, and I'm so glad I did. It made for an unforgettable afternoon.

We visited due to their reputation of being one of the best sandwich/ baguette places. There was a ling queue at 1pm but it moved fairly quickly. We got a jambon de Bourgogne and for €9 it wasn’t cheap but we enjoyed it. The baguette itself was tasted good and fresh, and generous with its fillings. We recommend a visit and don’t be discouraged by the long line. We went back a few days later to get a basic jambon buerre but at 4pm and it was sold out of baguette .

was a lovely place! i came at 16:00 and there was no line so i sat down at the bar (was really fun to watch all the chaos, great vibes) and got served immediately! i had a small beer at the counter and took my sandwich to go and it cost me 10€ (if you eat or drunk at the table or the terasse you need to pay an additional 2€) the sandwich itself is nothing crazy, just a good sandwich
Kiara C — Google review
Apparently, this is the best sandwich in the world. Rated by whom? No clue. Some mysterious council of baguette enthusiasts, perhaps. But the internet said it, so naturally, we believed it — because that’s what we do. Thirty minutes later, there we stood, hungry, jet-lagged, and questioning every life decision that led us to this Parisian sandwich pilgrimage. Locals breezed past us, rolling their eyes while we clutched our Google Maps like lost toddlers. But hey, commitment is commitment. And then — the ham and cheese arrived. Hot, melty, buttery perfection on a crusty baguette that could double as a weapon and a work of art. One bite in, and suddenly the line didn’t feel so dumb anymore. We became those people. The ones who post photos and say “worth the wait” while pretending we didn’t just spend half an hour for a sandwich. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Because apparently, I’m both self-aware and incapable of learning from my mistakes. Five stars for the sandwich. Zero stars for my patience.

We pulled one of my least favorite moves visiting a restaurant, showing up 10 minutes before the kitchen was closing. We had no idea however, and the staff was beyond accommodating. We ordered on the fly and they were kind enough to make us 2 jambon-beurre for takeaway on our way out. Steak frites was our favorite we had on our trip, and way better that a few of the flagship restaurants around the city. Great staff, great atmosphere, amazing sandwiches 🤤
AC S — Google review
We came here for lunch after seeing it recommended. We wanted to try their famous sandwiches, but they’re only served after 4 PM or for takeout. So we decided to stay for lunch and ordered a burger, duck, and onion soup. The soup was okay, the duck was very greasy but edible, and the burger was terrible — completely raw inside, no salt or seasoning at all. Even my son, who loves burgers, couldn’t finish it. We took their sandwiches to go later, but they were just average (only the baguette was nice). Loud music, crowded, and very little space. Overall, not worth the visit.

L’Ami Jean

French restaurant
L’Ami Jean is a cozy bistro located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, known for its elevated meat and seafood dishes made from sustainable ingredients. The restaurant has a devoted fan base and is popular among both locals and tourists seeking an authentic bistro experience. The lively atmosphere, with mismatched furniture and crooked artwork, adds to the charm of this establishment.
Superb meal! Rich and delicious food. Fun, knowledgeable service. We enjoyed the tight space and shared table. Rice pudding is mandatory. Come hungry. Stephane is the real deal.
Steve P — Google review
L’Ami Jean continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Paris. The menu changes but the quality stays the same. Most recently I went for lunch and enjoyed an incredible sea bass (one of the best I’ve ever had) with vegetables and a pork dish alongside their signature mashed potatoes. And no L’Ami Jean meal is complete without their famous rice pudding. So so delicious and the perfect ending to what’s always a great meal!
Tausha C — Google review
It was my first time dining here after seeing so many great reviews online. Many people mentioned that the prices are a bit high for Paris, but honestly I think it’s completely reasonable considering the quality. Every dish tasted refined, flavorful, and well balanced, rich but never overwhelming. You can really tell this isn’t home style cooking, it’s fine dining level cuisine. The mashed potatoes with meat sauce were absolutely delicious, such a perfect combination. The wine by the glass selection wasn’t huge, but every option we tried was excellent and very smooth. I also ordered the sweetbread, which is usually served as a starter at other restaurants, but here it came as a main dish. The portion was huge and cooked perfectly. It was incredibly satisfying, though a little heavy toward the end, not because of the flavor but simply because of the portion itself. Still, every bite was worth it, crispy, rich, and so fulfilling. The overall atmosphere was elegant yet cozy, the kind of place that makes you want to come back. If I ever return to Paris, this restaurant will definitely be on my list again.

Good main dish, dessert and wine selection. The portion is a bit too big from my perspective. Service is actually good which is above my expectations.

My wife and I had a wonderful time and an even more wonderful meal here. We enjoyed a few Michelin restaurants during our time in Paris, but the meal we would have again was the one we had here. Also a special shout out, they noticed my wife was pregnant and got her a chair to sit while we waited and sat us at a table with more room so she could be comfortable.

A Truly Unforgettable Parisian Lunch It was my last day in Paris, and I asked ChatGPT for the one restaurant I absolutely had to try for lunch. It recommended L’Ami Jean, and I’m so glad it did. This place left me smiling from the moment I sat down to long after I walked out into the Paris streets. Tucked away on a quiet street, the restaurant has a warm, cozy ambiance and the perfect-sized lunch crowd. My waitress, Anondile (if I got her name right), recommended two dishes since it was my first time: Sauté de cèpes et girolles, oeuf de 6 minutes (starter) Pêche du Jour Davant, Dit Sauvage — wild seabass (main) Before anything else, they serve housemade bread and butter on a bed of sea salt—simple but unbelievably good. The starter was a complete flavor explosion; I’m normally not a fan of boiled eggs, but the oeuf de 6 minutes was perfect in this dish. The seabass was pan-fried to perfection, plated beautifully with beet, mushroom, a savory sauce, and silky creamy potatoes. It was one of those meals that leaves you fully satisfied and wishing you had room for dessert. I ended with a hot tea and just sat there reflecting on how amazing the meal was. No wonder this is a spot where other chefs come to dine. It’s an authentic French experience through and through. I’m heading back to the States for the holidays, but when I return to Paris, L’Ami Jean will absolutely be on my list again. Chef Stéphane Jégo’s food truly brings a smile to your face.

Wonderful experience and dinner . See menu. Started with pate snd grilled scallops followed by sweet breads and pork cheeks w/mashed potatoes. Finished with their famous rice pudding. Tables are packed together side by side but due to staggered reservations this was not a problem
James M — Google review
Had a reservation for one and enjoyed an exceptional lunch. Service was warm and attentive throughout. I regret not asking for my server’s name - she was kind, professional, and made the experience feel personal. If she ever reads this, I hope she knows her hospitality stood out. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with an open kitchen that invites you into the process. My only minor gripe: tables are placed quite close together, which can make things feel a bit cramped. But it’s clear the chef’s focus lies elsewhere - every ounce of care and creativity has gone into the menu, and it shows. FOOD - For starters: Razor clams gently poached in a rich, aromatic fish stock infused with tomato, tarragon, and a medley of other herbs and spices. The broth was the highlight - deeply flavorful and layered, with sweet acidity from the tomato and a subtle anise note from the tarragon. Generous amounts of fried onion and grilled tomato added both texture and umami. While I typically prefer my clams raw or grilled, these were exceptionally well prepared. Overall, a pleasant surprise that converted even this skeptic of poached shellfish For the main course - A perfectly grilled pigeon, precisely cooked, super juicy. Each piece was nestled atop a stunning mushroom ragout that delivered an immediate wow: deeply savory, earthy, and luxuriously textured. Alongside it were root vegetables simmered in a rich beef stock, equally imbued with the depth of the forest and a soulful, slow-cooked intensity. The dish was served with a flamed wild plant. The aromatic smoke delicately perfumed the dish, enhancing the taste of the pigeon and layering the experience with a wild, yet elegant, edge. Served on the side were hearty mashed potatoes - super buttery and creamy. It didn’t just complement the pigeon, it harmonized well with the ragout and vegetables, creating a spoonful that was rich and satisfying. I've eaten four pigeon dishes in my life, three of which were in Michelin restaurants, but this was the best. For dessert - The chef’s signature creation: a rice pudding that’s anything but traditional. The rice was cooked with precision - tender yet solid, holding together in gentle clumps without ever becoming porridge. Simmered in milk and mascarpone, the texture was a 10/10: luxuriously creamy, soft, and infinitely comforting. The dominant flavor was unapologetically milky. But the real twist lies beneath - an extraordinary salty crème anglaise, unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. Flecked with real vanilla and carrying the unmistakable depth of salted butter, it’s a sauce that stuns on its own and transforms the pudding into a study in contrast: sweet vs. salty. Also beneath the rice - toasted medley of hazelnuts and walnuts, their buttery richness and delicate smokiness adding dimension. Most crucially, they brought a necessary crunch, cutting through the softness and amplifying the dish’s balance and intrigue. Bottom line: A show-stopping dessert. And I say that having eaten some decent, serious rice puddings, around the world. This one is in a league of its own. TO CONCLUDE: If it’s been a while since a meal truly excited you, do yourself a favor - book a table.

Haute French restaurant
French restaurant
Substance, located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, offers innovative cuisine served in a contemporary setting. The restaurant is known for its tasting menus and wine pairings, curated by Top Chef semi-finalist Matthias Marc. Despite the outdated decor, the food at Substance represents modern culinary trends. The seasonal degustation menu features standout dishes like whipped potatoes with cancoillotte cheese and trout eggs, as well as a sharp lemon tarte palate cleanser presented as a paw print.
Substance is a beautiful restaurant, the walls are a gorgeous deep green and the tables are warm wood complimenting each other and making it a place you are excited to spend your evening. There are a few tasting menus to choose from and I’d recommend going for as many courses as you have the time for because each dish you get is thoughtfully curated and incredibly well plated. The mixture of colours, textures, flavours and the balance of vegetables, cheese and meat throughout the tasting menu makes for a wonderful experience. You will find yourself well immersed in the well paced meal and never run out of things to talk about as you admire each dish for its plating, flavours, and textures. If you aren’t sure which Michelin star restaurant to pick in Paris this is absolutely a great choice. If you time your meal well you’ll end up really close to the Eiffel tower when she sparkles which is just the perfect ending to a perfect meal.

Best meal in Paris. Lovely service and food. Good value for lunch set with wine pairing. The wine selection went super nice with the fish and dessert. Would recommend.

This was the best meal we had in Paris. While it is the epitome of Dine Dining, it was not ostentatious and the atmosphere was hip. Every dish was a hit and they accommodated our dietary requirements without paring back in the slightest. The wine was sensational too. We had a gorgeous table in a bay window. It is a pricey night out but very special indeed.
Jodi N — Google review
As a Michelin star restaurant, your bare minimum is to have food that taste good. This restaurant met that bare minimum. The ambience was really lacking. I just could not identify many proofs of passion towards the concept except for maybe some of the table setting and glassware, which were pretty. The music was so lazy it was like top Pop hits. The lighting was strange (not a compliment) and non existent in terms of finesse. Often times I felt the utensils were not proper for its particular dish pairing which was offputting. It felt so disconnected, it was really a little bit sad. I'm not nitpicky honestly, its no way to be and its not real, i know that nothing is perfect even when it is perfect this just all felt very dull and the devil is in the details which are impossible to ignore. So much about this restaurant was pretty offputting, I felt it really lacked character, and that was very evident in the food, not only the ambiance. It was good tasting. I expect so much more from a place with this type of regard.

I had the most amazing three course lunch here! The experience was SO fantastic, I cannot wait to return so I can order a meal w more courses and have a longer experience at Substance! The 🍷 was amazing; the service spectacular. From the amuse through dessert, this is a true culinary experience. The trout... I'm still talking about it days later. A new favorite Paris spot!

Was treated to a meal with my wife at Substance. I came with very high expectations seeing that it is a 1 Michelin Star establishment. Overall, it did not disappoint. The treat was of the ‘Vibration Menu’; a 7 course Menu (see attached photo). There were 4 dishes, that I thought was a standout from the 7. 1. The squid with Kiwi sorbet was just so unexpected. The texture of the squid was almost konjac like and the sorbet gave it such a refreshing taste, accompanied by chilli pepper that gave it just enough of spiciness. 2. Potato Gnocchi with Morteau sausage with a combination of 4 sauces. The serving of this dish was interesting - the sauces were poured in sequences from the chicken reduction to the chive oil. What elevated the dish was the Yellow Wine and Sausage reduction. Gnocchi was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. 3. Pigeon with Asparagus, wild garlic and a charcutiere sauce (I think it was a reduction of the pigeon carcass) which was very flavorful. But the jewel of this dish is the main ingredient - the Pigeon. It was perfectly cooked, super tender and juicy; totally good on its own. The Julienne of gherkins gave a nice balance to the richness of the game and reduction. 4. Fresh herbs with yoghurt and Granny apple. I think this dessert was a much better balance than the 1st dessert of Rice Pudding,Lemon and Genmaicha glacier. There was a vanilla -like ice cream which was a pleasant surprise. What I did not really understand is the strong acidity and punch used in the dessert, the pulp of the lemon itself. In my opinion, it can be overpowering. Lastly, the service. It was, excellent! A shoutout to Naomi who served us for the most part of our dinner. She was attentive and fast, given that she was also attending to at least 2 other tables of 4 and 2 respectively. If you have a special occasion and happen to be in Paris, do consider Substance!

I ordered the €158 euro Vibration Menu. Honestly, at this price I’d expect a lot more thoughts going into the dishes, but I found the entire menu like a standardized assembly line, with too much focus on sourness and the level of creativity is largely compromised due to the overwhelming sourness for a restaurant at this price range. The sourness is dominating in a few dishes to the extent that I can feel nothing but sourness. Special mention: Arctic Sharkfish - the dish is a bit fishy, the fish meat is tasteless by itself, and the fish roe and finger lemon on top doesn’t compensate the lack of flavor in the meat in a harmonic way at all. The service was good. I’d recommend you try other places since you would have many choices if you are willing to pay 150+ euros for a meal.
