We tried to come to the Deli before a few months back, but the place was so packed that there wasn't anywhere to sit. We were lucky this time though, and this experience enlightened us on why the Deli was so busy in the first place. First of all, the vibe of the Deli was great. There was a stage for live music, pool tables and foosball. The vintage signs and bar really gave it the deli vibe. Our waitress was incredibly laid back, which I appreciated about the bar/deli atmosphere. The food is what really made this trip worth it. The pimento cheese fries were honestly life changing. The thick cheese stayed gooey as we devoured the fries, unlike other cheese fries where the cheese slides off the fries or it's too little of an amount, there was also a perfect balance of cheese and fry in every bite. The sandwiches were also mind blowing. This was probably the best Chicken Philly I have ever had in my life. The chicken was cooked not in thin shavings which makes it easy for it to come out dry, but instead it was cooked in medium bites, which kept the chicken moist. This paired with the melted mozzarella, onions, mushrooms and bell peppers all on toasted bread made it. My boyfriend enjoyed the muffuletta, and so did I, granted it was a close second to my Chicken Philly. The olive spread on the muffuletta was the best thing about the sandwich, in my opinion. It brought a sense of sweetness to the sandwich which I enjoyed. Overall, I can't wait to go to the Deli again!

Its always crowded but this time it was not. Walked to the hostess podium the hostess was assisting another couple she didn't speak or address us. So, I went this weekend and was pretty disappointed to find that they changed the recipe for the shrimp tacos. They used to come with cilantro slaw, comeback sauce, & Cotija cheese- a perfect recipe. They were delicious. Now that the recipe changed, it did not sound appealing at all so I decided to order something else. I got the steak on a stick because it’s served with the rosti potatos. I was with a group of 5 people and it took over 40 minutes for our food to come out which was weird because it was a Sunday evening and not even busy, but we were chillin & drinking so it was fine. But then when the food did come out, I was again pretty disappointed. 2/3 of my steak skewers were good, but one of the skewers was nothing but super fatty inedible meat. And the rosti potatos were the driest I’ve ever received after probably 500 trips to this restaurant over the past decade. I asked for some extra teriyaki glaze for the potatos and was brought some sort of sweet & sour sauce instead. Also, my friend tried to order 3 separate drinks that were all out of stock. Our waitress was nice, but overall this was by far the most disappointing dining experience I’ve ever had here. My friends enjoyed their food and maybe I was a bit more critical because I expected the dining experience I’ve always received here. I was dissapointed in the limited menu though, I should have gone later for some of the menu items I saw online and wanted to try. Our server was really nice, no complaints with service! They were working on the store so it was a little confusing to find the entrance. Ex frequent local customer of this bar. Was in there with my niece on Thursday Oct 16 and we were allowed by the Dj to stand behind the booth (like we usually do) to dance and enjoy our drinks. When we left to go to the one available bathroom, she lifted the cloth line control to go under it (out of the section) and somehow the freestanding speaker next to us was knocked over into another customer. With no employee around, we confronted and checked on said customer and then continued on our way. When we returned technically early Sunday morning after 2am, they told us that my niece, myself, and my sister- who wasn’t even there that night- were banned due to what happened. As a store manager in the Memphis area it’s appalling the way management and staff took zero responsibility for the set up of the Dj booth and how a speaker that size was not properly attached to the floor or secured in any way. Additionally you’ve placed the blame onto a customer instead of taking responsibility for your own establishment. Not a good look. Also can’t tell if they’re charging a 25 dollar cover fee to keep the doors open or because they want the customer to foot the plumbing and construction bill on both bathrooms that are in horrible condition. Sad I enjoyed this place once upon a time but will not be returning!!

This place will definitely make you feel at home. There is a bar room, a room with small intimate tables, and a comfy couch and game room with tray tables you can eat on. I had the drink of the day from the slushie machine which was lavender flavored and absolutely delicious, a minty fruity margarita which was refreshing. I also enjoyed the tots and crawfish dip! I try not to leave negative reviews. It's a hard industry. I've managed a restaurant before. But it seemed wholly disorganized for such a small space with few tables. I will say the space is very nice! But the service was incredibly bad and soured the whole experience. It started off rough as the hostess seemed exasperated that we would show up. She did not want to clean a table for us and told us to sit at a bar. When we hesitated because a table would be more comfortable, she told us that we could have a table but we would have to wait. Other patrons were chatting and we realized they were not getting their soup or salad. We continued to wait for our food...and wait...and wait. All the while all the tables were receiving their food first and quickly. The food when it came out was acceptable but nothing to write home about. Definitely not worth wasting an evening of downtown dining week where you can try restaurants to see if you like them. To add insult to injury they charged an automatic gratuity to the tab, and then after you receive your card back you realize that they tacked on another credit card fee.
