Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church, a stunning Gothic-style masterpiece completed in 1889, stands as one of Buffalo's oldest and most beautiful churches. Modeled after the iconic Cologne Cathedral in Germany, this architectural gem is crafted from striking Medina red sandstone. Visitors can embark on self-guided tours to admire its breathtaking stained glass windows that narrate the life of St. Louis IX of France, along with an impressive pipe organ that adds to its grandeur.
The church is gorgeous, and the choir is absolutely stunning! The people there are so friendly and welcoming.

I could not stay a temporary hearing impairment led me to an expedient retreat. My hearing mike on loan did not work. However the architecture and pipe organ were simply amazing.

We had my daughter’s baptism at St. Louis with Father Sal and I could not have asked for a more beautiful and sacred experience. Everyone is beyond friendly, welcoming, kind and accommodating. Ashlee has been extremely helpful and prompt with the planning and registration. We have enjoyed going to mass at St. Louis, and we’re beyond pleased with her entire baptism. We feel so blessed to have found St. Louis.

Very exquisite is this church. Fine warm atmosphere in terms of both central heating and friendliness. Also. There Is scientific accuracy in the Holy Bible. In the book of Ecclesiastes jet streams are accurately described. In Job it is mentioned the Earth is round. The Bible describes the hydrologic cycle accurately. And much more!

Worth a visit. Helpful guide showed us around, and was very informative. It is beautiful internally. Magnificent stained glass windows, exquisitely detailed and painted sculptures, and a vaulted ceiling. To think it was all done without machinery. Totally by hand. You have to admire the dedication and craftsmanship of the people that built these old churches.

St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Buffalo is a significant stop on the city's architecture tour. This National Historic Landmark, designed by Richard Upjohn and completed in 1851, stands as one of Buffalo's finest 19th-century churches. Despite a near-destruction caused by a gas explosion in 1888, the church's stone walls endured, leading to an interior reconstruction inspired by 14th-century church designs.
I was blessed with the opportunity to see the beautiful church here in Buffalo. I got to be toured around the church by Twila who was very friendly and a joy to speak to. The staff clearly love what they do and enjoy being able to work in a christ centered facility as beautiful as this. God bless them 😊.

Such a beautiful cathedral and everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It is a really comfortable atmosphere, I love the band! Outdoor service in the garden is so refreshing. Families, singles, all ages, all lifestyles, all are greeted with open arms. Whether you attend weekly or are a sporadic attendee, you are always welcomed with no judgement and lots of smiles.

Edit: 3 YEARS LATER and they still do not properly salt their sidewalk, it continues to be a hazard for all pedestrians. They don't clear their sidewalks of ice or snow, causing a hazard for any and all pedestrians. They claimed to be working with the city of Buffalo to address the issue, but over a year later and they continue to not clear snow from or salt their sidewalks. "Refugees Welcome" just not on our sidewalks. Behold a miracle from the lord! It's 40 degrees out and there's still ice on their sidewalks!

Trinity Episcopal Church is a true gem nestled in the heart of Buffalo, showcasing the grandeur of Victorian Gothic architecture since its establishment in 1886. This remarkable structure stands proudly on historic Delaware Avenue, characterized by its robust sandstone facade and impressive buttresses that create an awe-inspiring silhouette against the skyline. Visitors are often captivated by its stunning rose, lancet, and multifoil windows adorned with intricate designs.
Exceptionally beautiful and historic stained glass windows.

Exceptional blending of traditional choir, fine organist, contemporary Christian music, awesome instrumentals and amazing jazz piano. Trinity reshapes Episcopal worship traditions gently and smoothly and also offers fine preaching.

Wasn't here for a service but for an exhibit about stained glass art, assembled by a national stained glass organization. While the program focused on contemporary artists and artisans, the church itself has a spectacular collection of windows by Lafarge and by Tiffany and Co. Not the only such windows in Buffalo, but perhaps the most in one place.

Our Lady of Victory National Shrine & Basilica is a magnificent Catholic church made of white marble, featuring a 165-ft. dome and two towers. Situated near the Buffalo Botanical Gardens, this stunning church was built in the 1920s and offers self-guided tours throughout the day. The opulent interior exudes a sense of divine love and power, making it an incredibly designed place of worship in New York.
During our Easter vacation from Toronto, our family had the incredible blessing of visiting Our Lady of Victory National Shrine and Basilica in Lackawanna (just outside Buffalo). On Easter Sunday, we wanted to attend Mass and were fortunate to find this sacred and stunning church nearby. No words can truly capture the beauty of this place. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt a deep sense of peace, awe, and reverence. The architecture is breathtaking—every corner filled with intricate artwork, marble, stained glass, and spiritual symbolism that lifts your heart instantly. We attended the Easter Mass and felt so welcomed by the community and touched by the spiritual atmosphere. It was a deeply moving experience for all of us. The basilica has a rich history—it was built in the early 20th century by Father Nelson Baker, who is still honored and remembered throughout the site. The basilica also includes a museum dedicated to Father Baker’s life and legacy, where visitors can learn about his mission to serve the poor, orphans, and the sick. There are also quiet chapels, beautiful statues, and a gift shop with meaningful souvenirs and religious items. Every detail of this basilica reflects devotion, compassion, and grace. If you're visiting Buffalo—no matter your faith—this is a must-see. We left feeling blessed, spiritually refreshed, and grateful for this unexpected gem on our trip.
Shiji G — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever visited. The architecture was heavenly and the interior was so beautiful it reminded me of a church in Rome, even St. Peter’s Basilica. The church had many beautiful side altars but the main altar and the surrounding sanctuary were breathtaking. We visited this church during our honeymoon and would love to visit again! Our Lady of Victory, pray for us!!
Sav L — Google review
We’ve been here before and today the dome needs replacement and the basilica is raising funds for it. It’s very beautiful inside and outside, and its history and Fr Baker’s devotion will warm your heart. If you’re in the Buffalo area, you should visit this cathedral. It’s free to enter and hear mass, there’s also a museum inside, I believe you’ll be impressed.
Dan C — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking basilica ❤️ The people working there were lovely & excited to talk to us about the church's history. They are currently in the process of restoring some of the paint & plaster, as well as the dome...but still so much to admire. There is also a museum & gift shop on the lower level. Definitely recommend going to visit!
Samantha S — Google review
This church is huge and very beautiful. There is a 'museum' within that is quite interesting about the history of the church. I think if this is your first time here, start there, and then you will appreciate the rest of the church experience. I have to say that I was dismayed to find a STORE inside the church. Even though it was geared towards 'church-type' items, I still found it made my entire experience here more of a tourist-trap visit.
Just J — Google review
Such a beautiful local landmark, not to miss. There is a museum in the bacement with some wonderful history it is such a stunning piece of architecture and testamentof faith and dedication. They are currently restoring the dome and doing a few of other restorations to the windows, but it does not interfere with your visit at all. There is no fee to enter but I am sure they would appreciate tomations. Everyone should see when visiting South Buffalo.

I just happened to be passing through the area when I saw this beauty. I wish I would have stopped and gone inside. It is a work of art! Just beautiful!

The First Presbyterian Church in Buffalo is a historic and architecturally stunning landmark, designed by renowned architect Edward B. Visitors praise the church's incredible music, thought-provoking messages, and welcoming community. Inside, visitors can admire the grandiose dome and exquisite Tiffany windows that add to the church's beauty.
The church and the first family served as a home and comfort to me and my family. First church family makes you feel welcome and loved. If I can take the church and the people with me everywhere I go, I would have. Continue to touch and change lives.

Unitarian Universalist Church
In addition to the amiable and compassionate church beliefs and individuals, one must not miss the breathtaking interior of Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo. The remarkable architecture creates a captivating atmosphere in this welcoming and cozy place. It is highly regarded as an exceptional church with enriching youth classes that focus on crucial topics often neglected by other churches, such as sexual safety and religious education encompassing all faiths. This inclusive approach ensures that children are taught to embrace diversity and be accepting of different worldviews.
Wonderful place! Very welcoming and cozy, the people here are so open and fun to be around. The best church that I have ever been to; the youth classes are great, very educational, they teach the youth things that are very important that churches from other places will not teach such as sex safety, or religious education for ALL religions. They teach your children to be open and accepting to the world. The architecture here is brilliant, the church is absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely recommend this church.

This church is amazing because of its radical inclusivity and call to community service. Do you want to make a difference? Let’s do it together.

A beautiful church. The people are very friendly and involved in the community. A great program for kids to grow up in. They tackle social justice like no other. A loving community that doesn't judge. Many different religions here and people who dont adhere to a specific religion as well.

Love this church! I was drawn to the building and stayed for the fellowship. I attended a concert around xmas and was in awe of the interior of the church so I went back. I'm not a "churchy" person, more into following the Bahai or Buddhist faiths. I fell in love with the inclusiveness, the interest in social and environmental activism, the love and caring of the people. These people LOVE to laugh!! They stomp their feet and sing along with the choir. Joan the pastor tells great stories. They have coffee and goodies, and once a month have soup after the service. You can't go wrong checking out this place!

Saint Joseph Cathedral is a stunning landmark located on a plateau, accessible via a short but challenging walk with stone steps and switchbacks. The cathedral's construction began in 1851 and faced delays due to storms, finally being completed in 1863. Despite the beauty of the cathedral, some visitors have noted negative interactions with parishioners. However, many find attending Mass at this magnificent cathedral to be a truly holy experience.
Went exploring and found ourselves here on a Saturday at 4:30 mass. Beautiful church and kind priest.

We were here for visit and this church is one of our itinerary. We love it. The people serving in the church was very kind. We came earlier before the mass. It is a big church beautiful inside and outside architectural design. Very solemn and the concept of st. Joseph feels like the one in Montreal. We have devotion to st. Joseph. Would love to visit here again.

It was my sons wedding. He selected the venue. Everyone loved it. I went there in my teens. Beautiful cathedral.
Brian B — Google review
St. Joseph is the Catholic cathedral on the south side of Downtown Buffalo. The cathedral doesn't have much activity outside of mass times as the diocese is actually across from St. Louis church on Main St. on the north side of Downtown Buffalo. There is a small chapel behind the alter and stain glass windows can be found throughout the cathedral. The cathedral is well maintained and there is a small parking lot that is shared with the Erie County Courts, so the best bet is to find street parking when visiting on a weekday.
John H — Google review
I was visiting from out of town and my mother and I wanted to visit the Cathedral. I didn't realize that the Cathedral wasn't open outside of mass times. But, I called the office and was very pleasantly surprised that they let us in and gave us a thorough private tour of the Cathedral and it's rich history. It is a very beautiful Cathedral with amazing stained glass throughout and the Hook and Hastings organ is a sight to behold. Don't forget to look up.

Unfortunately, I was unable to enter the building, but the rich history of Michigan Street Baptist Church in Buffalo is truly remarkable. As the first black church in Buffalo and a significant stop on the underground railroad, this place has welcomed numerous influential individuals throughout its existence. It's gratifying to see that efforts are being made to preserve its historical significance, and it would be wonderful if more people could discover and learn from it. The pastor and congregation deserve recognition for their devotion to God and uplifting messages.

Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church is a stunning example of Lombard-Romanesque architecture, resembling a medieval European church. Completed in 1928, it was recognized as a city landmark only 49 years later and added to the National Register of Historic Places. The church boasts rich Christian symbolism and is maintained by a community of 90 families, making it an active parish with regular masses and various groups.
Amazing church!!! It is one of the most stunning and gorgeous buildings I have ever seen with a terrific, passionate, smart and very kind priest!! Happy to have stumbled upon it several months ago. The church and it's architecture reminds me of the Bascillica in Lackawanna! You HAVE to see it...even if your not Catholic, come when it's open and you will be awed - by the church's beauty and Father Victor Ibhawa's message!!! My mother and I (and everyone else I've taken) have enjoyed listening to him and hearing his interpretation and insight of the Bible. Father Victor Ibhawa is just great! Glad he started religious education again for kids and Bible study on Monday nights for adults! Come to mass or one of Blessed Trinity's events throughout the year! You'll be SO HAPPY you did! Thanks Father Victor!

This place of worship is truly spectacular! You will want to come back again and again to soak in every detail. And oh, the details! It truly is a gem! A labor of love by the German immigrants who take rich Christian symbolism to new heights and invite every one to come see the splendor of God. What is even more spectacular than the structure itself is the community of 90 families that keep it an active parish in the DOB! Well done good and faithful people of God.

True Bethel Baptist Church, established in 1961 with just eight members, has since grown to a congregation of over 3,000 across three locations. Visitors often speak of the warm and welcoming atmosphere at True Bethel and describe feeling a strong spiritual presence during services.
What an awesome and amazing service tonight praising God into the New Year and out with the old. God bless the pastors, which gave a spiritual service I'll never forget, God bless them especially. May God bless us all

We visited True Bethel this morning to listen to Governor Cuomo speak on the gun violence in our city. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and welcomed. The choir was amazing 👏 along with the powerful sermon from Bishop Pridgen. Thank you for a wonderful experience. 💛

Enjoy the friendly people and I feel a presence of the lord. I can't explain exactly what I feel because it's a awesome good feeling and I definitely enjoy the sermons every Sunday morning at 7:45 am. I been a member of True Bethel Baptist church for 15 years and my life has changed in a positive way with being connected Spiritually with the Lord and having a awesome relationship with our Heavenly father. I will forever SERVE the lord with all my heart and Soul and remain being pleasing in God's sight. I will forever spread the good news about the lord and Savior Jesus Christ who saves souls. I speak from my Heart that the Lord is my Shepherd and my Rock and I will forever trust, believe, honor and obey and being pleasing at all times in God's sight. There's no one who can do me like Jesus. Everyone needs to have a relationship with the Lord. Just try God for yourself. Amen and Amen True Bethel is a building with a heart for people who knows and believes that the church resides in us because God is in charge.

My Home Church, True Bethel is Definitely a place of worship and you definitely come as you are. Pastor D is on point with his teachings if you leave here not filled with the Holy Spirit or not understanding the word preached then you must have not come to be fed the word , I love my church family, check them out on Sunday morning or Thursday evening bible study ❤️

I visited True Bethel this morning to grieve with the black community who has been deeply affected by the murders at Tops Markets. Bishop Darius Pridgen gave a powerful sermon, and the choir showed true passion and love for the Lord and the community. Governor Andrew Cuomo also made an appearance, stating his solidarity with the black community in Buffalo, and his frustration with little to no progress in gun control at the federal level. I will likely never forget this day, as I held tears in my eyes, and grieved deeply for the city. It only furthers my wish, and my resolve to work toward, change within both politics and education. Buffalo has always been segregated, and new leadership is desperately needed here, in the Governors office, and in the President's office to bring about anti-racist change. The community needs support now more than ever.

Though it was a sad occasion, the experience was as good as it could be. Celebration of life for a coworker was an accurate description. His family and close friends paid an appropriate tribute to a funny, generous and caring man.

The Tabernacle is a unique coffee house in Buffalo's immigrant community. The space has amazing wall murals, and the food is delicious. It's also possibly the most unique place you'll ever visit.
Wow, what a fun night in a very unique place. Incredible paintings on walls and ceilings. Great atmosphere. Friendly bartenders. Didn't have the burger but I am looking forward to going back for it.

The Tabernacle on Grant Street located in Buffalo's immigrant neighborhood is one of the most unique pubs I have been to in Buffalo. It actually used to be a church! It's been regarded as the Sistine Chapel of Buffalo. When I first entered The Tabernacle I thought I was trippin until I found out that this psychedelic masterpiece was painted by a human being who never painted before. Wait a sec...what? Stop yo trippin!

Really interesting place with a great staff! The bar tenders are willing to experiment and able to work with our orders. Love it!
Brian M — Google review
This bar is simply unparalleled. I went for the first time on November 20th, for the final performance in their Fall Jazz Series. The bar menu had some great classic drinks, and some I hadn't heard of. I ordered an Irish Coffee hopeful that they were able to make one at that time, and luckily they were! The band performing that night was the John Bacon Quartet. They had a wonderful sound, and I was surprised at the acoustic quality at the bar and throughout the restaurant as a whole. The service was great, and everyone was very welcoming and personable. The atmosphere was laid back and I could see myself coming back just to hangout for a drink with no entertainment. The thing that stood out to me, and I'm sure stands out to everyone who walks in, is the incredible artwork surrounding the entire restaurant. I originally heard about this place on an NPR segment, but pictures do not do this art justice. It's covering every square inch of the interior, ceilings and all, and is so intense and unique, you can't help but take a bit to look around at everything there is to see. The most interesting bar I have ever been to, and truly a gem in the West Side!
Chloe P — Google review
Very unique building, painted murals galore, a bar, they serve food and often have live music. I'm always impressed with the attention to detail the bartenders demonstrate. Has somewhat of a coffee shop vibe, go figure because it's attached the Sweetness 7 cafe. There's tons of space and even outdoor seating, it's a great place to have parties and events. It's a gem.
Alex C — Google review
Really unique room with a fair selection of beers on tap. My only complaint is the sparse food selection. My partner and I went last weekend and were given the full menu to choose from, however when we placed our order we were informed that only the few daily specials were available. I would have loved to try the burger listed on the menu, but it wasn't available that day. The pierogis were great, though.

Rite Aid is a convenient stop for all your pharmacy needs, located in a bustling area that’s easy to navigate. As you venture westward down East Delavan, you'll find the store's staff consistently friendly and efficient, ensuring that orders are processed quickly—even during peak hours. They proactively offer additional services like vaccinations and medication refills, making your visit even more seamless. The store itself maintains a clean and organized atmosphere, although you might notice some shelves looking a bit sparse at times.
Never pick up the phone. Delivery down, not even an option to pay online. Got hung up on numerous times and when dialed anonymously phone got picked up then hung up on before I even said hello. The medication I need isn’t dire but there are some people who absolutely need their medication! It’s wild for a pharmacy to not pick up the phones when someone’s health and well being is partially in their hands. Would not recommend this rite aid! Please avoid like the plague

NEVER GO HERE ! They have the worst service EVER. Medications aren't ready on time EVER , they never pick up the phone , when you do get in contact with them they tell you is ready and when you arrive they tell you come back " tomorrow." But that happens various times consecutively before you receive medication. Which means you go there wasting your time because they never know what they doing and they will tell you one thing and do another. Save your self the trouble and not go here . They need to retrain their staff or simply close down. Close this store down !! Close it !!

Its a waste of time , have no consideration and they are liars, They never give accurate information. They never pick up the phone. They have no idea what they doing. They need to close it down. If you need medicine please save yourself and not go here. This RITE AID needs inpection. They need the city called.

Beautiful church ...long family history at this parish unfortunately the current pastor is a pompas nut . He's been here 10 years feels like 100 . Praying that our corrupt diocese will do the right thing and move him to a parish more suitable for his personality . If you do visit my parish, bring an overnight bag, and an iPad that way you can nap and/ or watch a full length movie during his hour long, loud, most of the time nothing to do with the Gospel , sometimes obnoxious homily . It's really sad to see my parish in such disarray. If he remains here I believe the church will become another St Anne's . I would have placed my comment on the " official" St Casimirs website but I've been cut off from making comments on that page. Usually when a business attempts to cover up the truth it usually means there's something to hide . Stop on by and see for yourself.

Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, located in the heart of Elmwood Village, is a historic building designed by Eliel Saarinen and his son Eero Saarinen. It serves both city residents and those from the surrounding suburban community. The church hosts various community events and provides a blessings box at its entrance for those in need, which is stocked by the local community.
It's a beautiful church and reddish brick add to the charm on Elmwood and Lafayette Avenue.
Dhananjay S — Google review
Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church is right in the heart of the Elmwood Village. The church has participants from the city as well as the surrounding suburban community. The church seeks to serve the community at large, hosting community events for the holidays and a blessings box at the front entrance of the Lafayette Avenue side of the building. This box is available for anyone in need of staples and is supplied by the community. The Church offers online service on Facebook at 10am and when safe, in person service as well, also at 10:00 a.m. Check them out on Facebook and other social media platforms, as well as online at ElmwoodJesus.org. My husband and I were searching for a church community and found this over a decade ago when they hosted Ralph Nader and also used to have a food kitchen for the community. We appreciate the church's focus on living out Christ's mission. The church went through a large building project; they are still an active church and also have apartments available. This project was an effort to maintain the church and strive as a community of believers. This is a loving community of folks of all types who respect each other's differences. People are very friendly and nice here. Hope to see you there someday!
