Midnight Sun Brewing Company is a small craft brewery located in Anchorage, Alaska. The brewery offers weekly tours, a tasting room, and a full restaurant serving hearty comfort food. Known for creating world-famous barrel-aged stouts and barley wines suited for Alaska's cold temperatures and extended darkness, the brewery has become a symbol of brewing excellence in the area.
Had a great time here. Great selection of beers. Food was delicious and large portion sizes. I had the Mediterranean Melt. Wish the chips were housemade but still good. They didn’t have any gluten free beers for my friend, but plenty of cocktails and other drinks.

Friendly staff. Food onsite. Great beer menu and easy to understand pricing. Great view around the area from the 2nd floor.

Hubby and I stopped in for a late lunch. Hostess was super friendly, waitress was not. We were really looking forward to the sweet cheeks sandwich, which we both ordered, with the pretzel for an appetizer. Never received the pretzel and although our sandwiches came in record time they were some of the worst pulled pork sandwiches we’ve ever had. Bread was stale and there was way too much of it compared to the amount of meat. He ended up eating his open faced, and I cut off half of one bun. Pork was dry and flavorless, and there wasn’t nearly enough sauce. We were both really hungry when we got there and that made it all the more disappointing. He also ordered the pleasure town IPA, which he did not enjoy.

I started working in Alaska a year ago and Midnight Sun was the first place I ate and the first Alaskan beer I tried. I also tried many other restaurants and breweries in the area, but Midnight Sun has become my favorite for food or beer. Their daily food specials are always amazing, and I love how they have a great variety of beers to drink (and they never disappoint). I highly recommend this place and cannot wait until I can show this place to friends and family when they visit.
Matt B — Google review
My rating is service and beverage based. We did not eat. Service was very friendly and attentive. Beer sampler was tasty. The root beer was delicious.
Kathy M — Google review
2023.06.27 - Being from Houston, TX, I found the Greek Tacos that I ordered to be juicy and tangy. The Mountain Sandwich was huge and should be eaten in two sittings, see picture. The pretzels we ordered were soft and warm. The 2 sauces with the pretzels were perfect; a cheesy butter and a beer base butter. Delicious. Our waitress was spunky and polite.

Midnight, sun has easy earned a seat at the top 10 breweries in Alaska They are brewery that is not afraid to take chances on stouts and various beers that are fantastic. I love it when breweries take a chance on various beers! Overall for a IPAs I would recommend the puffin, PleasureTown and, of course, the infamous panty peeler! The atmosphere was very relaxing, and they have outside seating as well! The menu was fantastic with some great choices and staff was helpful was well!
Justin F — Google review
The IPA was good, but the ambiance and service were a bit disappointing. The place looked closed when I parked but saw a few people walking so decided to follow them. I'm glad that it was open but was a bit taken aback when I saw several kids in there. I'm not sure if they were prepping for any event, but one of the bartenders seemed a bit distracted, and the other one was running around trying to finish up chores. The rooftop wasn't as impressive as some of the other breweries in the area either.

King Street Brewing Company is a popular microbrewery taproom in Anchorage, known for its traditional and innovative approach to brewing. The spacious three-story taproom offers a wide selection of beers, ciders, sours, and non-alcoholic beverages. It's a great spot for groups and those looking for a laid-back atmosphere. Since 2010, the brewery has been a local hangout with an evolving collection of beers, including staples like King Street Amber and Oatmeal Brown Ale.
If you want a crisp, refreshing, and authentic west coast IPA look no further than King Streets IPA. The taproom has three levels, outdoor seating, a private event room and serves food. The pizza is actually really good. They carry sodas and NA beers and usually have a cider on draft. They also have games! Great atmosphere and adequate parking. The brewery is located in an industrial area so plan your drive. Overall, they produce probably one of my top three favorite beers of all time. Definitely a must stop in Anchorage.
Kristen A — Google review
This has become a regular stop for my wife and I. The drinks are great, the rooftop deck is fantastic and the food options make for great snacks or even a decent dinner. My only complaint is they aren't open later but that isn't their fault.
Jason T — Google review
King Street Brewing Company is a large industrial vibe of a brewery in a chic multistory building. After grabbing a beer, proceed up the stairs and check out their fantastic and massive rooftop space; an ideal ideal setting for large gatherings with stunning mountain views. Established in 2011, this brewery has made a name for itself with its impressive lineup of taps and some standout offerings like their Imperial IPA. In a world of 'hazy boys' it is refreshing to drink a clean IPA that isn't overly saturated in 'dank'. If you're looking for a quick bite, King Street has an in-house pizza kitchen and pizza always pairs well with a pint.
Beerventurers — Google review
Their pizza is okay but I miss when they had food trucks outside. Great beer selection, amazing views, tons of seating across three floors including outdoor seating. Industrial but comfy, very open. Good spot for groups to meet. Growlers to go and cans as well.
Amy T — Google review
This used to be my favorite place for a good beer. These days it’s screaming kids, and parents changing their kid’s diapers out in the open, on tables. It’s happened the last few times I’ve been. There are less kids running around a daycare…at least there the kids have some supervision. “Family friendly,” is great, and usually just fine…it’s made this place just plain gross to me, and my friends.
Eagle R — Google review
Excellent beer , friendly staf and good Pizza A must stop for craft beer lovers.
Ping — Google review
This atmosphere is incredible, warm and friendly and they even have games for friends. Go to their menu was great with a great variety to choose from. This was the first brewery that had a blended mix that was very interesting to try and I ended up really liking the hopfenweisse! I highly recommend this place!
Justin F — Google review
This was a very fun brewery! Definitely a place to go and hang with a group. Lots of seating options, and both a ground and rooftop patio. We loved all the beers we had. Our particular favorite was the Imperial Stout - boozy with a distinct chocolate/coffee flavor. Yum. Awesome staff - friendly and fun to chat with!

Brewery
Anchorage Brewing Company, established by master brewer Gabe Fletcher, has quickly risen to prominence in Anchorage's craft brewery scene. The brewery offers unique ales like the Tide and its Takers, a malty triple with high alcohol content, sweet vanilla notes, and a woody aftertaste due to multi-phase fermentation. Inspired by Belgian practices and Alaskan ingredients, their popular brews include the Belgian Style IPA and Saisons.
Great vibes. Excellent beers and wine!! **UPDATE** Came back for another visit. Tried their wine and meat/cheese board. The wine they offer is wonderful and the board was cute and perfect for a quick visit. It’s just one cheese, salami, and crackers. Basic but perfect. I’ll definitely visit again!!! *** Close to COSTCO so come get a beer before enduring the shopping expedition 🙃 They have two barrels that are cute and cozy you can sit in plus fire pits outside that are dog friendly. They have metal art on the walls for sale and they have a great selection of both beer and wine. First time here and looking forward to coming back.

Jivan and Victoria took care of us! We were late arrivers about 40 minutes before closing. Jivan was all smiles and happy that we were familiar with the beers. We get Anchorage down in Texas sometimes, but to visit the mother ship was a whole new level! Everything was so good, it made up for all of the other Alaskan beers we tried on our trip. Their stouts are world class. Nothing comes close. We took home a few bottles and some merch! This is a must do brewery for any craft beer aficionado who visits Alaska!

What a wonderful brewery where the locals hang out. Friendly staff, spacious facility with a rooftop patio. Lots of seating with fire pits at the back of the brewery. Plenty of drafts to choose from. A dog friendly facility. Highly recommended when in Anchorage.

WORLD CLASS beer. Legendary. Great venue. Enjoy a beer upstairs and take in Mountain View’s. They have food too kind of I guess. The way it’s done is a bit different, they seem to have different rotating dishes. Looks good but I just came for the beer. It’s top tier beer.
Jeremy H — Google review
Great beer, highly underrated in the area, but legendary in real beer drinking markets like Wisco. Finally got to the facility and was extremely happy with the service and solutions of the fermented sort. Thanks the Sean for the impromptu tour. The inside, haleay patio with fire pit tables, the outer Garten and upstairs area with bags (corn hole) were all unbelievably fantastic. 100/10 would come back to Alaska for this.
Giovanni T — Google review
Absolutely amazing. Sean went above and beyond to make sure our stop here was the best! Such a nice guy and Anchorage Brewing should be honored to have him as an employee! Thank you Sean for you friendliness making our stop memorable!

Javon was absolutely amazing! He was so attentive, knowledgeable and friendly! My husband and I would honestly come back just for him! The establishment is incredibly clean (and thats saying a lot for someone with extreme OCD)! The beers and wines are delicious and the vibe is impeccable 👌🏻 10/10
Larissa S — Google review
Loved it! The place looked a bit underwhelming from outside but was huge and super welcoming from inside. The reason for the four stars is the fact that they only have one bar, which meant long lines. However, besides that, the place is huge, with ample seating, both inside and out. The rooftop has a stunning view of the mountains, while the patio downstairs has plenty of room to spread with your friends, family, and pets. I would absolutely visit again if I'm ever in the area and recommend to anyone looking to spend some quality time with their loved ones over a drink or two.

If you're looking to immerse yourself in the spirit of Alaska, a visit to Anchorage Distillery is an absolute must. Nestled in an industrial area, this hidden gem may catch you off guard at first, but as soon as you step inside, the delightful aromas of juniper berries and wheat grain will welcome you. This distillery stands out for its commitment to crafting authentic Alaskan spirits despite the region's limited grain production.
Anchorage distilling….WOW. The vibe is fantastic, the booze is killer, and the staff is second to none. Arrives and went straight to the cocktails, did not disappoint….they also have incredible glassware to show off at your home bar. The tour is 100% worth it, one of the best I’ve been on and so much fascinating knowledge. Highly recommend when in Alaska!
John A — Google review
Great customer service and the cocktails will blow your socks off. The distillery itself is visible from the sitting area and is very interesting to watch. I also did a flight of their whiskey, which the tasting sheet was accurate and it was pleasant to sip and makes a great sour. The gin is very floral and has a great flavor. The cinnamon moonshine is dangerously smooth and tastes like fall in a glass. I would have no reservations just sipping it and enjoying it on a cool day. Overall, I’m very impressed and glad I came to this distillery. Prices were also reasonable.
Eli M — Google review
Amazing service, some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had and a phenomenal atmosphere. The space is very cool - clean and artsy and the playlist they had going made us stay and order another round. The pizza food truck outside at the time we were there was also fantastic.
Ashley W — Google review
A hidden gem. I had a lovely gin cocktail while my husband did a flight. Bummer they aren't offering tours but the tasting room has a window into the distillery.
Mallory C — Google review
This was a very comfortable and clean place. You can sit at a table and enjoy the drinks. Had the tasting flight and I enjoyed them all. The location is in a quite industrial area, away from downtown, which was perfect.
Wayne O — Google review
I paid for the tour and tasting here, while on a solo trip and 1st time in Alaska. My guide was a fellow Texan, and she made sure the tour was fun and informative. Vodka is my drink of choice, and I visited in November, so the warm-up was much needed😁 You can't beat the price, for all that you get to do, taste, and see. It's tucked away, in a somewhat industrial area, but well worth stopping in.
Iyshia K — Google review
We stopped early on a Sunday and we were the only ones in. Beautiful place. Loved the drinks. Bought a bottle to take home. The bartender gave my kids a piece of dried fruit for their water. A nice little touch.
Amanda H — Google review
If you want to taste since true Alaska spirits, this is one of the few options. And it's a good option! Alaska grows very little grain, but this distillery sought it out and is making some great products. The gin is my favorite. Beautiful tasting area! Lots of historical photos of Alaska. Great cocktails and awesome staff. The area here is industrial, and there are not many other bars or restaurants around, so this is a destination kind of spot, and not one that you'll discover accidentally.

Glacier Brewhouse is a lively restaurant with a strong emphasis on wood decor, offering a menu featuring local seafood and wood-grilled meats alongside their own house-brewed beer. The oatmeal stout, served on nitro, presents deep and velvety flavors with subtle notes of coffee and roasted flavors. For an enhanced experience, the oak-aged version aged in Jim Beam barrels offers increased depth of flavor with hints of whiskey and cherry-like fruitiness.
Must do restaurant. Went after Princess Cruise, we beat the crowd but it gets busy. Saturday so had the seafood scramble and it was outstanding! Cheesy grits was my side and also great. Co diner said seafood salad was excellent. Burger and pizza was also good. Didn't try any beers but all hose made. Try it!

We visited this place twice during our trip to Anchorage, and honestly — it’s the best spot in all of Alaska! The food is absolutely outstanding — the halibut is next-level delicious, perfectly cooked and fresh as it gets. The beer selection is on fire 🔥, and the crispy potatoes are simply amazing — the kind of side dish you actually remember! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is super friendly, and everything feels authentic Alaskan. It’s the kind of restaurant where you walk out smiling and already planning to come back. I give it my highest recommendation. If you’re in Anchorage, don’t miss this place — it’s a must-visit!

Based on a trolley tour guide recommendation, we stopped in for lunch. An awesome beer selection and a full bar were a nice surprise. We sat at the bar and Heather provided excellent service. She was so pleasant and helpful with menu selections. We started with the calamari (steaks not rings); I had grilled salmon and husband chose shrimp & grits. There were no disappointments with any of our selections.
Kathy M — Google review
⭐⭐⭐☆☆ We had the opportunity to dine at Glacier Brewhouse while visiting downtown Anchorage, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The ambiance was inviting, with a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Seating was comfortable, and the layout of the restaurant gave it a cozy yet upscale feel. Service was excellent—our server was friendly, attentive, and timely with both orders and refills. The staff handled everything professionally, which added to the positive impression. As for the food, we ordered the fish and chips, which we had been craving throughout our trip. While the fish tasted good, the portion size was underwhelming, especially considering the price point. Coming from South Texas, where fresh seafood is abundant and generously served, we expected a more robust serving—especially this far north where one might assume we’re closer to the source. We understand every region has its standards, but the value didn’t quite align with our expectations, particularly for a dish as classic and simple as fish and chips. That said, Glacier Brewhouse is still worth visiting for the atmosphere and service alone. We might return to try other menu items, but next time, we’ll explore other options for seafood.
Robert C — Google review
We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and hoped the 20 minute wait would be worth it. Oh, was it ever! The service, food and atmosphere were excellent!! We started with the pretzel breadsticks fondue, which was so great! My husband got the King Salmon special. He said it was the best salmon he’s ever had and would eat it over having a steak any day! I had the shrimp and grits and I was in awe! They were the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had them from Florida to New Orleans and now Alaska and these were amazing! The combination of flavors were incredible! I also added a side of asparagus to my meal. It was grilled and seasoned to perfection! Our server was very attentive and great with recommendations. We will be coming back very soon! I do recommend getting a reservation if you don’t have time to wait. Thankfully, we did and it was well worth it!
Alicia J — Google review
I have always loved Glacier Brewhouse, especially as a place to bring out of town guests for amazing Alaska seafood. Last night I had THE BEST king salmon I’ve had in my entire life. I’ve always received great service. Be warned, it gets loud in this lively restaurant, so it may not be the best place to have a quiet conversation (or, be warned if your dining partners are hard of hearing). But if you want an amazing meal in Alaska, this one is at the top of my list. I do recommend reservations if you’re trying for an evening, weekend meal. I also tried the pickle martini last night for a change up, and if you’re a pickle fan and you love dirty martinis, I’d recommend trying.
Brittany S — Google review
This place was a random stop on a very beautiful Sunday afternoon. The host, the waiter and even the chefs were super friendly here. I ordered a clam chowder and I can say that this was by far the best clam chowder I’ve eaten in my life. This place is a must visit when you’re in Anchorage, Alaska. Thank you guys for the amazing experience! Will be coming back.

Outstanding dinner spot. Lots of delicious seafood options and everything we ate was phenomenal. We both wanted to try the king crab so we got a 10oz add on which was perfect. The appetizer sampler was also a great pick to try a few different appetizer options- I couldn't pick my favorite from the trio. The brewhouse itself also has a great selection of different beers. My favorite was the raspberry wheat. Highly recommend giving this spot a try for a "nicer" dinner in Anchorage.

This place never fails me during my travels to and from Anchorage! The prices are very reasonable, the food is always delicious with great portions, and the service is good. Sometimes they are more slow (during peak hours), but they’ve never neglected me or had bad service like some of the other restaurants here in the airport. The homesteader isn’t pictured but it’s delicious and the bacon is very good here as well!
Makenzie F — Google review
Plain cheese pizza... wasted. No sauce, way too much cheese. One slice had some sauce. The cheese was good quality but it didn't want cheese bread. Service was mediocre. Why did the trash have to be piled up right next to the take out area where we wait after we order. I guess I'm just disappointed all around. I didn't eat the the whole pizza but I did deconstruct it looking for the slice with sauce. Seriously? One slice?
E. B — Google review
Stopped by for a quick snack before the flight and replace it my surprised by a interacting service, good beer (especially the Epicenter) and nice view over the runway. The portions, however, slightly disappointed, especially calamari were for one bite. Check the bill as you might get overcharged for your order and that’s precisely what happened to us. Would recommend you to try the hush puppies with the cranberry sauce, tasted very unique. Septfest sausage on sauerkraut was pretty interesting However, I got a charged for two rather than half. Reuben rolled were nothing to impress.
SC — Google review
Steak was absolute garbage, asked for medium rare. Got a medium to well done steak, was very dry especially for a $35 steak, would not recommend. Staff not great. Waited way too long to get check after done, saw a lot of guests in same position.
William C — Google review
Pretty cool view while you are eating. We came here with only 15 mins to spare, and they got us in and out. The food was actually cheap and good. The portion was very big. I forgot to take a picture of the food right when it came out so here is a pic of half eating Yukon omelet and gravy and biscuit.
Brittany R — Google review
Consistently the best food in the airport after traveling through here for years. Breakfast beats McDonald's hands down and their pita pockets to go are awesome for on the go. Sit down at the window is always fun and relaxing.
Travis R — Google review
Mediocre food and terrible service. Almost 10 minutes after being seated, we still hadn't seen our waitress or had our drink order taken. We had been seated for 40 minutes before we received our order, and our entrees arrived before the appetizer (which we had to point out). Had to ask for Ketchup twice, and fries were cold by the time we got it. As for the food, the salmon on the salmon sandwich was overcooked to the point it literally left dry salmon flakes on my plate when I cut it in half. As you can tell from the picture, it was also under-sized given the size of the bun. The Buffalo chicken salad had way too much buffalo sauce on the chicken. The reuben rolls were good and probably the only do-again.
Steve B — Google review
Poor attitude, rude, at to go and $15+ each for a small Caesar which is primarily romaine. The additional $7 for each salad to add chicken was for a small amount of diced chicken that I assumed would at least be cooked, maybe grilled breast. Instead was still partially frozen small amount of diced, possibly from a can - but nonetheless partially frozen! Absolute waste of my money and time. Also appreciated how it was thrown in the bag that was the cherry on top. We just did to go didn't eat in 7/30 @ 4:30 pm

We had a flight of dry and Semi dry offerings amazing flavor. We added a can of the extra dry it was so dry you could feel it leaving your tongue. The tables and artwork are amazing. We had a great time! The game selection was interesting. I couldn't get anyone to play AED with me

A craft cider bar. Its quite interesting. At least 10 different kind of cider available. Had one and its was fantastic. A chill modern place with an outdoor seating. Unfortunately no food there so make sure u eat before u go there. Bought a Tshirt for $25 and its looks great with a decent quality. A must visit for me. Even im not really a cider guy

A warm and folksy atmosphere and staff welcomes you into this cider brewery with sweet, semi-sweet, and dry ciders, fruited ciders, and a broad selection of farm inspired flavors to explore. Relax with friends with wooden furniture accents and outdoor seating with a food truck. Fun time

Double Shovel is hands-down the best place in town if you love trying new cider flavors. Their lineup is always rotating, so there’s always something fresh and creative on tap. In the summer, they even have a weekly frozen cider flavor, which is the perfect treat on a warm day. What makes this place even better is the community vibe. They frequently host markets featuring local creators and makers, which makes every visit feel like an event. On weekends, there’s usually a food truck parked out front, so you can grab a bite while enjoying your cider. Whether you’re stopping by for after-work drinks or just hanging out with friends, Double Shovel has the perfect atmosphere—laid back, welcoming, and always full of good energy. It’s become one of my go-to spots in Anchorage, and I can’t recommend it enough!

First tried this place while in Kodiak in 2024 and love it. Vowed to try the Anchorage location and was not disappointed. A huge fan of double shovel cider company.
Melody M — Google review
This is one of my all-time favorite cideries! I was living in Anchorage 9 years ago when Double Shovel first opened and I was SO happy to come back this summer and find them doing so well! My husband and I went on a weekday recently and it was fairly empty, with plenty of seating inside and out. The first bartender listened so well to us talking about what kind of flavors we liked and she curated the perfect flight for us, also including a free sample of their blended ice drink! My husband also bought a hat that he has been wearing almost every day. The only food they had available when we were there were a few bags of chips, which we didn't purchase. Apparently they sometimes have food trucks but none were there at that time.

Nestled in the vibrant brewing scene of Anchorage, Cynosure Brewing stands out as a cozy haven for beer enthusiasts. This charming microbrewery has quickly made a name for itself since opening its doors less than four years ago. With a focus on crafting exceptional lagers and Belgian-style brews, Cynosure offers a refreshing alternative to the more common IPAs and barleywines found elsewhere.
Great beers and relaxed atmosphere. They are one of my favorite places for Belgian style beers, love their Triple the most, and the Cold IPA second. My only critique of this place is that they do not experiment enough, it is pretty rare to find a new beer on the menu. But this is very much a Me problem because we go about once a week! Also, beers are fairly priced, and growlers are super cheap.
Levi O — Google review
Love the brew but the place a little bit too quiet. Friendly staff. Reasonable priced. Usd 7 for a pint. I do like the t-shirt. Will get it next time
M M — Google review
Nationally recognized, gold medal winning beers on tap. The black lager is 10/10. The owners and staff are kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. There is a relaxed, casual, and comfortable tasting room space often with food trucks available for quick bites. Always a pleasure to visit.

Expertly crafted brews, warm environment, and generally not as crowded as other breweries in Anchorage. Cynosure is a great brewery if you’re into a variety of brew styles and is owned/operated by two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. It’s got great seating options (nothing outside, sadly) and a great ambiance for grabbing a beer sign friends. There are food trucks occasionally too!
Chris B — Google review
Lots of great beers and the people here are super nice! The bartender is awesome and always happy to give beer advice. I like how Cynosure always has a variety of beer styles on tap. They also have a crowler canner in case you want to take some home!

Laid back cool vibe. Interesting bier menu. Outdoor tables. Tho just off the road so kinda intrusive but ok if you're an urbanite. Brew machines in full view to. And can walk around to look at them which I like bc I like machines. Overall good bier hall.

Great brewery. Loved the beer. They have Alaska chips from next door which my kids love. They had crayons and a few little toys for the kids. Even bubbles. Loved relaxing on the couch with friends

We’re back in town and looking to try out some of the newer microbreweries in Anchorage. Cynosure was recommended by a friend and we slipped away from some family gatherings to see what Cynosure had to offer. Right away we liked how open, airy, and comfortable the taproom looked. The staff were welcoming and super nice. No problems with getting samples of their product. Turns out they make some very tasty ales and Belgian style beers and Cynosure is now on our favorite Alaska Breweries.

Fantastic mead and an amazing environment! This is a gem of a find! We have carried out growlers but stopped today for a solstice flight and had a wonderful chat with the brewer. Local or tourist, you need to stop by this place for a drink!
Katie R — Google review
This is a super cool little place! We got a mead flight and everything we tried was amazing- my favorite was the raspberry if you like something fruity and a little tart, my husband loved the Admiral’s Cask for the oak-aged flavor, and we both appreciated the Tactical Cyser (like a boozy sweet apple juice)! They also have squeeze pouches to take home (think adult Capri Sun) in their most popular flavors. Great service, you can tell they love what they do here. Definitely a place to try in Anchorage!
Anita — Google review
I stopped by this meadery out of curiosity. Not only is the mead absolutely incredible—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced—but the real standout was the brewer’s hospitality and passion. If you’re even remotely interested in mead—or just want to support someone who truly loves what they do—this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back for more!
Jer B — Google review
First time in Alaska. Been to a few brew companies had to try some mead while I was here! Ordered 2 flights all but one flavor off the menu. All flavors were GREAT! I would highly recommend Hive Mind to anyone from out of state to stop by! Nice small place atmosphere is comfy and they have a rentable D&D room in the back!

The Meads here are very tasty. And the vibe is also very good and nerd friendly! Had a lot of Easter eggs that made the experience very fun. Took growlers to goof their new mead (Elder Berry) and the POG Buzz! Sooo good!
Javia F — Google review
The brew master had great recommendations. The selection was good and the prices are great too! Personally my husband and I got a flight each(about $18 each) and tried 4 meads each. Their sweet selection is mouthwateringly good and the environment and calm and cozy

Hivemind was a wonderful choice when I was thinking of local brewers and distillers I wanted to try. Sara was very friendly and attentive, as well as knowledgeable about all the meads they had to offer. I tried a flight and they were all so good and unique. Will definitely be going here again. Nestled among a cluster of breweries in Anchorage, Brewerks stands out as a vibrant newcomer to the local beer scene. Founded by an engineer with a passion for homebrewing, this brewery offers an impressive and diverse selection of brews, including IPAs, sours, stouts, lagers, and pilsners. The moment you step into Brewerks' beautifully designed taproom, you'll feel the warmth and thoughtfulness that went into creating such an inviting space.
Google has no idea how to get here or present this place in a marketable manner. The dude has made a very clean, professional craft beer experience that I have driven by for 6 months without knowing it existed. Parking is a bit limited compared to how much seating there is but frankly all the other businesses around here are closed during drinking hours so the competition is slim. Beer is good, although I think he might be lowballing his ABV (this Belgian feels stronk).
Aaron P — Google review
Rode my bike 30 miles for a Brewerks beer…the build up was high and it fully delivered. Excellent brews, delightful barkeep and such a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a can’t miss in ANC. Put it on your list!!

The beer is phenomenal. I always have fabulous conversations with new people. The physical space is so inviting and clean. Chad really curates (apart from thee best beer) an experience of either meeting new people, bringing your family in for the food truck convenience and live music, or finding a cool spot to tuck away for a more intimate conversation or reading a book. My stomach is a delicate flower and I never feel gutsy after Chad’s beers. He is always so stoked to help you pick something you’re in the mood for and non-shaming if you’re on an N/A journey!

The brewery has a lively environment with delicious brews and super friendly hosts! They did an amazing job in decorating the place to give it a true "brewery" feel while providing a welcoming and colorful atmosphere. The food truck outside enhances the experience by providing good munch on options while sipping on their brews. Last but not least, the place has a stunning mountain backdrop!

What a great find! Stopped at most of the breweries in Anchorage and Turnagain was the best one by far IMO. Anna and Audrey were awesome beer tenders, friendly and knowledgeable! Great beer and swag! Loved the Atlantic Haze, Mexican Lager and Nordic Freestyle,

Best brewery in town, without a doubt. We go every week and always have the best time. It’s not surprising they have so many awards for their brews. My personal fav is the rhu-fram sour. Always a good energy and fun time there, & the owners are always giving back to the community. They are really down to earth, cool people. 10/10 recommend!!

At first we were a little unsure heading in to what seemed like an industrial area, but Turnagain Brewing is a Very nice brewery with a very friendly owner. There’s a lot of history and unique stories throughout the brewery. Check out the piece of wood in the bathroom that tells where the first culture came from. Upstairs is a beautiful lounge area with a nice view and more art.

Fantastic beers, great atmosphere, and extremely thankful that well behaved, leashed dogs are allowed inside so you can grab a brewsky post ski. (Please don’t take non experienced brewery dogs and ruin it for the rest of it. It’s hard to find this in Anchorage). On top of all that, very reasonable prices and great service. We tried two flights and loved everything. Highly recommend the raspberry.

Nestled in Midtown, Onsite Brewing Company is a delightful haven for beer enthusiasts and climbing aficionados alike. Founded by adventurous couple Amber Jackson and Tom Chambers, who bring their unique climbing backgrounds into the mix, this brewery embodies the spirit of exploration. The name "Onsite" reflects their passion for tackling challenges head-on—just like successfully ascending a climbing route on the first try!
Onsite Brewing Company feels like a home away from home for adventurers. The taproom is near the Alaska Rock Gym and has a laid-back, climbing-themed vibe. It’s a perfect spot to plan your next adventure or relax after one. The community-focused atmosphere makes it easy to feel at home. The two favorite beers of the flight were the Arctic Winds Pilsner (light & crisp) and the Ridgeline Shadow Stout, which was a bit more robust and roasty. This was our first brewery visit in Alaska, and they set the bar high for the rest of the trip.
Beerventurers — Google review
This is a great place to have a frosty brew after a hike in the Chugach Mountains or a bike ride on the Tony Knowles Coastal trail or even downhill skiing on JBER, Arctic Valley, Hilltop or on your way home from Alyeska. The owners are super mountain climbers and adventurers who decided to turn their passion and energy toward the fine art of brewing beer of many different styles and flavors. The Octopus DNA is a tart, black currant sour, 7.5% treat for the tastebuds. Chaos & Order is fruity, yet impudent with a hint of sassiness,(extra points for anyone who gets the reference. Hint, think 1980’s PC video game. LL) just kidding, it was a delicious IPA. The art work is by local Alaskan artist, graphic designer and outdoor adventurer, Meg Smith. Her interpretation of the Alaska mountains, wildlife, stunning vistas and experience speaks directly to the soul of anyone who loves the outdoors. We own several and they always inspire us to got out and see more of Alaska. Thank you, Meg. You inspire us. As it is time for another round, the Arctic Winds, 5.5% is an unfiltered German Pilsner which is delicious and very clear amber. I had expected it to be cloudy like an unfiltered Hefeweizen. Possibly I need to brush up on my brewing terms. The Kickturn, 6.5% ABV is billed as a West Coast IPA. If memory my serves me, and it always does(another obscure reference, this time to 1960’s TV with a comic book theme) IPA is India Pale Ale and west coast is a California reference, “And that’s all I have to say about that”(movie reference this time :)
M R — Google review
The beer is excellent. The taproom vibes are funky, spacious, clean, and they play good music. There are N/A options. It’s dog friendly. Go weekday after 3 when they open and it’s pretty quiet. One of the better breweries in Anchorage. The Pilsner on draft is top-notch. Check it out while you’re in town. I loved the stickers of all the other breweries/climbing gyms/outdoor recreation brands they have sporadically placed around the area.

Nice small brewery with good beer. We had a quick stop. Loved the calendars in the bathroom. Wish they had an outside area as there wasn't much seating room on a sunny Sunday. My kids ended up playing in the parking lot for most of our stop.

The vibe and prices are always spot on, I love supporting local businesses and management is always friendly. An IPA fan's paradise- they occasionally have fruited and sour beers, but usually they have a healthy selection of IPAs and other pale ales. Usually they also have a seltzer or other alternative available. If you like IPAs, this is the spot for you! They also usually have a great food truck outside, it seems to cycle through but every food vendor thats been there has been delicious.

We came to Alaskan Spirits to bring back some Alaskan liquor with us. We came here right after a spirits tasting at Anchorage Distillery. The sitting/bar is significantly darker, less lively than AD. Their tasting sampler is only $5 for 4 spirits and it comes with a free shot glass (disclaimer: the samples are very small). We ended up getting the Fireweed vodka.

I cannot possibly overstate how excellent this place is. Don't like sweet? The Two Seasons Meadery has a selection of delicious dry and off-dry meads. Love sweet? The Two Seasons Meadery has a selection of sweet and yummy meads that will perfectly satisfy your sweet craving. Prefer something in between dry and sweet? The Two Seasons Meadery has you covered there too. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable in the mead-making process and are great at recommending which mead will best suit your taste. The tasting room was empty when we went, so we got to ask the tap-tender questions about each mead and their unique qualities. Really just a superb experience.

Absolutely adore the friendly atmosphere and staff, and am such a fan of their products!! My personal favorite is the razz and each season they come out with some awesome flavors! They just came out with a blackberry flavor that is delicious and the meadarita is great chilled for a bbq! Their mead is great in both casual and formal settings, warm or chilled! Seriously, I HIGHLY recommend anyone looking to support local Alaskan businesses, these are the guys to check out!
Shar O — Google review
This is a great place to sip on some tasty meads which, in my opinion, are worth discovering. I tried the flight, and I liked 'em all. Kazimiera is one I would find myself having too much of a good time with during summer as it's easy to drink and will (eventually) creep up on you. What I mean by easy to drink is Tasty and Sweet but, the good kind of sweet that ya just wanna keep having. The atmosphere is nice, cozy, and I got to have a wonderful conversation about mead with the owners which basically made my night. It's great to nerd out on mead making and support local business, especially when they make good product. If you haven't been here yet I recommend a visit. If you don't know what mead is, I recommend a visit. Heck if you're wanting out of the house and would fancy an adult beverage while you're out that isn't super boisterous, I recommend a visit.

Recently, they collaborated with 49th State Brewing for a special dinner event featuring beer pairings.
The Hunters Pie was very good, highly recommended. My wife had the Cod Tacos and my son had the Blackened Salmon with rice. All the food was delicious. Service was great even though they were busy. It has a very nice outdoor area too.

Went here while in town with family, what a great place. Several of the in-laws were questionable and turned out to be the best meals while in town. Grant gave great suggestions and changed my wife’s mind on the halibut. The horseradish crusted was delicious and I had the Hunters pie. I love me some shepherds pie and this took it to the next level. Several had the seared ahi and said it was the best ahi they have ever had. Thank you for ending out Alaska trip on a very high note. Cheers!

Visited Humpy’s and was not disappointed! The smoked salmon dip was hands down my favorite, however the halibut fish and chips were definitely another. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. I’ll be sure to visit again, whenever I plan to make my next trip to Anchorage:)

We were given this restaurant as a recommendation from our bus driver while driving to Anchorage. It turned out to be a great hit! We thought the food was great! We got the halibut and chips, the patty, the crab roll. Omg they were all delicious! Great food, great place to stop in for a bite to eat. Next time o go back to Alaska, will stop in.

First of all Fiona and Catherine were excellent servers at the bar where we sat. We watched them work so hard and be so pleasant. The food was excellent. We had the halibut tacos and the halibut burger and both were great. The place was very busy but had a great vibe. It’s a restaurant and sports bar. It’s not loud so you are able to talk. We were not there when there was live music. We went on a Wednesday night.

People referred me here as a “dive bar,” but I didn’t see anything “dive” about it. Great service and delicious food. I arrived too early for the dinner menu, but the halibut fish and chips were terrific. Highly recommended!

We had the Golden Crab, Crab Roll, Crab Patty Melt, and Caesar Salad — everything was outstanding! Fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. The place is super friendly and absolutely worth recommending!

Gonna start with this... TRY THE CALAMARI! Not sure what sort of crack they put in their seasoning but it was exceptional! On the outside - crunchy! On the inside succulent (only word I can think of!) Even the aioli was spiced perfectly! This was an absolute hit! Ordered the halibut tacos and they were good - maybe a tad underwhelming for me in that halibut is a heavy/fleshy fish and I felt like it could have been seasoned slightly better. It was supposed to be slightly blackened but I didn't taste that. The aioli was OK and the candied jalapenos didn't taste candied! Overall it worked and the portions were excellent! This dish came with multi coloured tortilla chips and salsa which I actually thought were devine! They had a nice saltiness to them that complimented the tacos! The sockeye salmon burger was good but perhaps a touch overcooked. The fries that came with it were good. Service - excellent! The staff that served us was excellent! Tried a beer on their rotational taps which was really good! This place is probably what it is hyped up to be in the evenings with the beer flowing and the food following! With live music - I can not imagine how this place would not be an instant Anchorage favourite!

Anchorage Cider House | Fat Ptarmigan is a stylish bistro located in downtown Anchorage, offering a locally focused menu featuring gourmet wood-fired pizzas and a selection of craft beer and wine. The restaurant boasts a tastefully chic ambiance with its wood and brick interior. It is one of the newest dining establishments in Anchorage, spearheaded by renowned chef Guy Conley.
I tried all of the ciders on tap, and although I typically lean to the sweeter side, every single one was tasty. I also didn't get that odd, hard to describe flavor that I often notice with ciders. I love the feel of the place. Open and airy. Beautiful tables and I love that they display the work of local artists. I didn't eat there but the pizza smelled divine. The lady working was very friendly and welcoming too. If you're in town I highly recommend stopping in.

My husband and I went with our daughter for the first time and it was a nice experience! Our server was super nice and welcoming especially with our toddler! The food and drinks were delicious I even saved half to eat at home :D We we’re expecting more options for the drinks though, but other than that it was great 🙌🏼 The environment was also very nice with the art they have of small paintings from artists along with the cool merch they have for sale. The food also came out fast so did drinks! We definitely had a great time!

BBQ wings. Beer cheese pizza on the left. Build your own pesto, blackened chicken, feta cheese, tomato, garlic and spinach on the right. If you like wood fired, you'll love this place. Probably shouldn't have paused to create the review. My only fixation at every pizza place like this, push the toppings closer to the edge. The crust here has excellent flavor, but I don't need that much of it without toppings. Probably is more difficult that it looks, considering I don't hand-make pizza. Next trip to Anchorage, this is on my destination to return.

Great pizza, great cider, with friendly and attentive staff! All their pizzas look good, including pizza chefs who still toss dough. Ordered the beer cheese pizza, which was very delicious, although not quite the unique experience I had envisioned (basically, reindeer sausage, especially when in a larger dish, doesn't taste all that different from any other sausage...not bad at all, just worth keeping in mind). Ciders were also quite good with a diverse selection. Would be worth returning to explore the menu in the future.
Michael P — Google review
The first time I had a pizza from here, it was very disappointing quality. Couldn't taste the toppings through the layers of carbon, yes it was very burnt. My pecan pie did not come with utensils; the gelato melted. Ordered via 907 delivery. A couple days later, I ordered a new pizza and it was actually really good. A consistent wood fired flavor without the excessive carbon coating. I've included the before and after photos. Good news: Management is very nice and is all about QC. I don't know if their ovens are too hot or if their cooks are too preoccupied on a Tuesday night-- but, they did offer to make it right. I would try this place again.

The build your own pesto with blackened chicken, roasted garlic, tomato, spinach and feta pizza was a gourmet delight. Order the beer cheese pizza to taste the reindeer. The BBQ Wings are enough to make you fly. I'll never forget the forget me hopped cider and the grapefruit/lavender cider was a delicious blend. The service was friendly and very kind and on top of service even when it got busier. I highly recommend if you want delicious wood fired food, creative cider and friendly service.

I ordered the lamb gyro and it was really awful. First, in a practically empty restaurant, it took 23 minutes for it to come out. It comes with pasta which was flavorless and was literally soaked/dripping in some kind of oil. The lamb in the gyro was very minimal and it was also bland. I'd ordered a side of tzatziki sauce and it was, again, bland and very watery. I only ate half of the gyro and hardly any of the pasta. So, I pretty much wasted $15. Maybe they have other items that are good but my experience was terrible and I don't recommend this restaurant.

Fat Ptarmigan has consistently been one of the best places in town to get pizza… Especially with their wood fired oven and crust recipe. Even though the founding chef has moved on, much of the appeal from his original recipes remains. And with the addition of the space-within-a-space Anchorage Cider House, there are more ways to enjoy this tasty spot downtown.

My first time there yesterday. Loved the ambiance and the service was phenomenal. I had the Reuben and it was probably the best Reuben I have ever had. Loved the mimosas and beer as well. Will definitely be back!

Really cute place with great customer service and food! Really enjoyed the chai, and they accommodated my request for non-dairy with both the drink and oatmeal with a lot of kindness. You can tell there's a lot of care going into everything they do. Definitely go here if you need a quiet place to grab lunch!

Came in on a gloomy overcast day to place a modest soup and sandwich order. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, but they have abbreviated hours, so you have to be time aware and intentional about your stop. What I found was a cozy quiet cafe, with a wonderful array of choices on their menu!!! (I will have to come back, just for breakfast!) They were out of their soup of the day, so I made a salad substitute with an incredible house recipe blueberry 🫐 vinaigrette dressing. Their sandwich was tasty, but I took the majority of it home to doctor it up with an avocado. 😉 Everything’s better with with avocado on it. ✨ The waitstaff was very congenial and cordial and made me feel most welcome, attentive and providing EXCELLENT service!! *** I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this delightful little cafe, with quiet charm and decorative decor.

Service was quick and friendly. But I found the food lacking flavor. I had the avocado melt with cottage potatoes. They must have used a meat slicer to get the bread cut so thin, less than 1/4 inch thick. The chicken on the avocado melt was very bland, the avocado itself was good though. The cottage potatoes did not have much flavor at all, just boiled red potatoes. This was my first time there, maybe other dishes are better.

I bought the veggie omelette, and the white blend wine. Nice place for breakfast omelette, and their waffle was very satisfying, should always ask for real butter never margin.

Really nice staff, and the Belgium waffles were so yummy with homemade jam! Don’t understand the bad reviews - yes you are asked to wait in the outside lobby so the waitress can get to the front of house and prep a table…but that’s normal? Place seems to place heavy emphasis on service, comped our coffees bc the food took a bit, but we didn’t even notice!
Amy C — Google review
The atmosphere was great unfortunately there was a very strange older hostess who was very authoritarian. I remember the last time I tried to enter and my friends mask 😷 was off a smidge and she screamed at him during 2020 and so we left. The Cafe has been around for a long time and it’s completely overrated. Ken I’m responding, your place is mediocre and you need to get rid of the witch that treats your customers poorly. You seem to have an attitude as well. I’m make sure and let everyone know.
Tony S — Google review
This was the weirdest experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. It was our first and last time giving this place a try. We walked in at 11am, read the chalk board that said something snarky about waiting in the lobby, and waited for 10 minutes. There were probably 5 people that looked to be on the clock milling about, including a 12ish year old boy working behind the bar, but nobody said a single thing to acknowledge we were there and that we would be seated soon or even hello. Finally somebody in our group dared to walk into the dining room to see if there were tables open or try to figure out if we were in the wrong spot. The lady working in there physically grabbed our 66 year old friend and turned her around, and pushed her towards the lobby. She then spent several minutes lecturing us about how everybody in the dining room needs her undivided attention and that she cannot be interrupted to speak to people in the lobby. She showed us the chalkboard and condescendingly read it to us. I wish I would have read the other reviews before inviting guests to try this place because so many of them tell a very similar story to what we experienced. This place should learn about customer service or just close up shop if they’re going to be such ungracious hosts to people trying to give them money.

Flattop Pizza + Pasta is a laid-back eatery and bar located next to Humpy's, offering a menu of pizza, pasta, craft beers, and cocktails. The place has an urban vibe and features pool tables as well as a DJ on weekends. Named after Anchorage's popular mountain hike, Flattop offers a calendar of events including beer pong competitions and cornhole tournaments.
Stopped in for lunch while on vacation, had (some sort of spicy) cheese sticks--normally not about spicy stuff, but these were delicious. Pizza was awesome, we had loaded meat pizza--probably could have done without the steak but that is a personal preference...it was really good. Waiter was attentive and keeping busy. Recommended the ginger beer, the highlight of my Alaska trip, gonna be looking for it everywhere--not really a midwest thing, I guess. The only negative was the homeless guy peering in the window and talking to himself, kind of dampened the mood.

Overall average at best. Temperature and texture of food was just right, but lacked flavor. Many other places in downtown worth trying. Also, specifically, there are other pizza locations (and more) in midtown that have unique menu options and taste phenomenal! Midtown has the better eating scene if you’re a foodie. Service here was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was calm and inviting for a Saturday night. I did not have an alcoholic beverage, but it seemed to pair well with meals for others.

I never write reviews because I own a restaurant and I’m chill. Tonight changed that. Right off the bat, the energy of our bartender was bad, aggressive, and unwarranted. I’m sure all the staff will know who we are because we brought kids because our friends son turned 21 and we wanted to have a space where we could all go as well as food that everyone would enjoy. I came later and I personally felt like I was treated differently because I was with that table. You cannot change my mind on how this bartender treated us. This is how I make my living and if I had a server/bartender talk to us the way he did throughout the night, tonight would be his last night. He treated us like we were the drunk patrons at 11:30pm at night instead of the 7pm patrons who were celebrating with family. No matter if I was wrong or he was wrong, arguing with me at the bar and telling me he did nothing wrong is unprofessional. He should have stopped immediately and got his manager but instead he wanted to tell me how right he was. I went and asked for the manager in my own. The manager was great because what I needed to say is, he is going to get tipped the same but he needs to learn more finesse and professionalism or he won’t last long in an industry I hold dear to my heart. The food was great, the company was great. Our bartender just about ruined my short lived evening. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Oh, and don’t autograt without letting your customer know. I’m cool with it as long as you vocalize it. My friend had to tell me that you were adding Gratuity to everyone’s ticket. Only one of us knew. My rant is done!

We had pizza and salad for lunch, and the food was excellent. We had a medium sized pizza that was really decent in price and serving size (it would be a large in most restaurants), and a large salad that could easily feed 4. The bar is laid back, and there were a lot of tables that could have used bussing sooner. We sat ourselves, and it wasn't clear if the bartender was also the server, but he was...they could definitely use more staffing! The service is friendly, but it did take a good while to get our pizza out. It is a no frills sports bar with excellent pizza.
Vanessa M — Google review
Pizza, nacho and wings are yummy. A small pizza (12") should be enough for 2 people. Medium (14") and large (16") and pizza by the slice ($5) are also available. There's a $10 lunch special for a slice of pizza and a salad. Beer on tap is nice too. Only one waitress is working during dinner on a summer weekday. She was efficient in handling the crowd by taking orders, sending the food and cleaning up all by herself. This place needs some cleaning up though. No itemized bill was given when we asked for the check. There's no pasta on the menu. P.S: visited a 2nd time a few days later and was shown the itemized bill and the lone waiter on duty was friendly and efficient. If you want certain dishes to be served first or later, you should advise the waiter or else all the food might be served at the same time. Tap water is served here too. There are 2 pool tables and a basketball machine for free play. I will come back here again as the prices are reasonable and the food is great. 3rd time review: this time the lone waitress didn't attend to us after we were seated down for a long time. In the end we've to go to the bar to order our drinks. The basketball machine is not there anymore.

If I could give zero stars, I would. When we arrived, no one greeted us, and there were no signs indicating whether we should wait to be seated or seat ourselves. We approached the counter and were told to find a seat, but nothing was explained about ordering. We later realized we had to place our order at the counter, which would’ve been fine—if someone had just let us know upfront. We waited over an hour and a half for a pizza, a sub, nachos, and fries. When the food finally arrived, everything except the pizza was burnt beyond recognition. No one checked in on us during the wait, and we were never asked if we needed anything or were ready for the check. This experience was incredibly disappointing. We considered saying more in person, but we had already ordered takeout for others waiting back at our hotel and didn’t want to risk any issues with their food. Unfortunately, after a long day of travel and several failed attempts at other restaurants, we didn’t have any other options. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

My first visit Flattop was quiet upon my visit Monday, during a snow storm! This is a sports bar with multiple TVs. Large number of beers on tap and reasonably priced food menu. I had the Ale House Pie (pizza to you and me). Very tasty and very well cooked. The crust was firm and crunchy and the toppings were cooked just enough to be warm and tasty. One of the best pizzas I have had in a while. Slight drawback was the time it took from order to delivery of the 'pies'. But I can appreciate that the time was used to properly prepare our meals. 4 stars at the moment as it was a very quiet night. I wonder how it is on busy nights? My second visit was on a drizzly Wednesday evening in July. I ordered the classic pizza. The bar was reasonably busy but still plenty of tables and booths. My order was taken quickly. The pizza was served 45mins later! So slow preparation times was a common theme. The pizza was crusty and very hot; literally straight out of the oven. It was nice but pretty much standard pizza. I noticed that the food menu was noticeably shorter than my last visit with not many options and only around 5 pizza choices. The small pizza was plenty big enough for one. The bar was far noisier with loud conversations and music. However, the music was adult orientated with offensive lyrics so I would recommend not bringing children for a pizza here!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! It’s one of the first places I went to when I turned 21 and now I’m 30 years old lol. I started going again this year for karaoke and I love it so much. The DJs are SO nice, the bartender’s Charisma and Cydnee serve you so fast and honestly make the best drinks. They work really well together supporting one another too, which is nice to see in a business. It shows this place has great communication amongst their staff. I even notice their manager checking in on them to make sure they’re all set. As a woman I feel so safe here. I also notice everytime I’m there that the crowds that hang out are pretty normal people which is nice. No one is out of control and they have a security guard to make sure no one is ever out of control/the space is safe. That’s an incredibly rare feeling in today’s world! GO FLAT TOP STAFF!!!

Tent City Taphouse is a modern gastropub that pays tribute to the hardworking individuals who contributed to the establishment of the Alaska Railroad and Anchorage's early days as a tent city along Ship Creek. This family-owned gem not only offers cozy indoor seating but also expands into an inviting outdoor cafe-style area during the summer months, located on the south side of 5th Avenue Mall.
We had an excellent meal here while on a pre-cruise tour. My salmon burger was outstanding. Tasty and fresh. It was just perfect. But even better were the garlic cilantro fries! I shared them with the couple sitting next to us and Ive made two lifelong friends! Thanks, Tent City! Worth a trip to Anchorage just for those! My cousin’s halibut was excellent. Tender and so juicy. Perfectly cooked and not greasy. Oh yea, the beers were great, too! Excellent, friendly service.

Our tour guide was batting 1000 with his restaurant recs and this one was no different. Started with the duck fat fries and asked for them to be extra crispy!!!! Perfect and full of flavor!!! Main was their belgian waffle with chicken tenders and a scoop of pineapple-coconut ice cream!!! This is what heaven must be like!!! The ice cream paired beautifully with the chicken and waffle. Pure bliss!!! Service was excellent too despite the restaurant being crazy busy with all the tour groups!!

We did not have reservation but immediate seating. Order was taken quickly and food was served quickly. Not sure if the Pilsner was brewed there or not, but it was very good. Highly recommend. Cod was good/fresh and the batter was nice and thin. Lost a star because the fries had way too many ends & pieces. See pic.

Came with a party of four and we were able to be seated right away which was great considering this was on a holiday weekend. Ordered burgers and the short ribs with shrimp and grits. The two year old in our party said it was the best food she’d ever had. We enjoyed the anchorage style burgers with the jalapeño bacon. Short ribs were pretty good. Also had a hazy IPA which was good. Nothing mind-blowing food wise but overall we all agreed we would dine there again.

This was a very pleasant surprise. What seemed like just a mall restaurant turned out to be a nice, cozy place with a great menu and tap list. The tap list was all Alaska craft beer, a nice chance to try beer from breweries I didn't expect to be able to visit. I had a hazy from Black Spruce Brewing in Fairbanks that was excellent. If I had not been full from my excellent dinner, a spare rib poutine, I would have explored more. Service was good, but not top notch as the server did not really know the beers when my wife asked. But she was still fast and very pleasant, so it is understandable. I would return here.

We did not eat here but really enjoyed the draft beers. Loved the IPAs and the heavy porter. Also, the story behind the name and location is quite interesting. That classic (ancient) cash register behind the bar is also very cool. The T-Shirts/swag is also cool so I bought one for ~$20 ! VictorB

Tent City Taphouse is quite the hidden gem! Stopped here on a whim for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. As a lover of sour beers, it was awesome to see the vast selection of sour beers available. The food was immaculate as well. We ordered the Chowder and Pelmeni to start, which were both amazing. For entrees we ordered the Halibut & Chips and Beef Tips, both of which were delicious! Our server, Kayli went above and beyond to make our experience great! Kayli even offered samples of two of the sour beers when I was torn between choices. Overall, if you’re considering a place with great food, great drinks, and quality service - definitely consider Tent City Taphouse!

Nestled in Anchorage, Alpenglow Brewery has emerged from the legacy of Resolution Brewing Company, retaining its original location and head brewer. This charming brewery offers a delightful mix of beloved classics like the Belgian triple Ixelles and Neighborhood IPA, alongside refreshing new brews such as the Day Drinker light beer. Perfectly situated for adventure seekers returning from outdoor escapades, Alpenglow Brewery provides not just great flavors but also a welcoming atmosphere where patrons can sample various drinks before making their choice.
An excellent place. The brewmasters we're personable and made sure I picked a drink true to my taste. I was provided samples to find what I wanted from the available taps. The entire brewing section is accessible, meaning it's not behind glass and cut off from the consumer. They checked in with me to make sure I was happy and to see if I wanted a fresh drink. I asked if they would fill a growler we already had and they said they would without requiring use of their own. This is a quality place and worth the visit.

I was a regular at the old brewery in this location (Resolution) since the day they opened. The new brewers have taken over the space and made a few changes, but thankfully the beers haven’t changed all that much. There’s several familiar names / brew styles back on the menu, along with a few new styles that give the entire menu a lot of different choices. My old standby (Neighborhood IPA) is back and it’s not *quite* as good as the old recipe in its heyday, but it’s still pretty tasty. This is always a great quiet place to enjoy some good beers and I highly recommend it!

We did a Monday brewery hopping tour and this place was my favorite. Definitely the least appealing from outside--it's in a strip mall next to a dentist and a Dominoes--but inside is an awesome little brewery with great people working and great beer. I love the vinyl nights. They have great merch. And it felt like a place you could make your "Cheers" bar.

Top Tier brewery for sure. Great selection of standard beers. Chatty bar tenders and brewers who are stoked to chat about beer. Location looks bad from the outside (it's in a strip mall) but is extremely charming once you get in. The brewing equipment is separated from the seating by a low wall so you can look in at their tiny 3 barrel system.

The ice cream here is SO GOOD! While all the flavors we tried were delicious and obviously homemade, the Oreo was the show stealer! My wife, daughter, son-in-law, and I needed sweet treats after exploring Potter's Marsh in south Anchorage.. Enter Wild Scoops for the win!! A decidedly local ice cream shop, Wild Scoops offers a rotating selection of flavors sure to satisfy any palate.. I personally sampled the Ultimate Cookie Dough topped with Baked Alaska (torch-finished marshmallow creme) set inside a waffle cone.. Each bite brought with it a perfect medley of sweet cream, cookie dough, M&Ms, pretzel pieces and chocolate flecks.. The torch-finished marshmallow creme complemented the hand-crafted ice cream perfectly.. At the end of the day, Wild Scoops is worth the drive from wherever you might be in the greater Anchorage area, and their prices are quite reasonable for the quality of product and service received..

The line was long, I almost left, but fortunately, I decided to stay. It was worth the wait. The ice cream was delicious, and the cones were baked to perfection. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable. They even helped me "build" my first six pack!

We used La Bodega to place a large order for our wedding and they were fantastic to work with. Nikole was excited to help us get a few particular items and work with us to make a wine list for the wedding that was within our budget. Pick up was easy. And they gave a discount for bulk ordering. Also shop there on the regular for their excellent selection of wine (and beer!).

Open late for most everything you need. IGA "supermarket" closes at 6 on Sundays year round, yes even in the summer while it's still light out, and 7 weekdays, 8 on Friday and Saturday. So this place is it!! All the essentials plus gas and a car wash which kinda works.

They are next to an ice cream shop and don’t allow ice cream 🤣🙄 oh well revenue loss.

Stumbled on an incredible selection in this little place. The best part is you can buy absolutely everything by the can. Sweet spot to make a mix pack.

This place is so cool! TONS of variety: local beers, wines, ciders, and other cocktail making ingredients. plus their shirts are neat-o!!

Ravens Ring Brewing Company is a unique establishment located in the southern part of Anchorage. It stands out as a brewery, winery, and meadery all in one. The place offers an impressive variety of beverages, from traditional IPAs to unconventional options like Concorde grape wine and Sweet Peach Jalapeno mead.
Just a short seven-minute drive south of King Street and Anchorage Brewing, you'll find Ravens Ring Brewing Company—a hidden gem. Ravens Ring taproom is what I would consider a more intimate and cozy setting; especially compared to other tap rooms around Anchorage. The two-story taproom is great for couples and small groups looking for a more personal beer experience. Andrew's favorite beer here was the "Rye So Serious", a tart but not to sour, sour ale. Ravens Ring doesn't just brew beer; they also produce a range of non-alcoholic sodas, including the refreshing Limonati (lemon and lime), the vibrant Fizzy Pixie (pomegranate, lemon, lime), and the intriguing Driller Chiller (grape and lime). Additionally, the brewery does cater to those with gluten intolerances by offering a small selection of gluten-free meads, wines, and ciders. As you enjoy your drink, take a moment to appreciate the artwork adorning the walls. Some of the art was created by individuals at the Hope Community Resource. This organization is dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities. We don't often see this sort of community engagement at breweries, and it offers a meaningful and personal touch here.

I can't say enough good things about this Brewery. They opened down the street from us last year, and as the only brewery in South Anchorage, my spouse and I closed our eyes and crossed our fingers and said "please, let this place be good". We were in luck because this brewery is fantastic. The owners are so friendly and personable, and they apparently have great taste. The menu rotates often, which we love. They have a great selection of beers, sodas, and gluten free meads/ciders/wines. We love going in to see what new creations they have. The logo and merch is awesome too, so we don't mind repping when we can. We go nearly every day if our schedule allows it. It's an awesome location, very walkable and bikeable if you're located on the Southside, and conveniently near other shopping if you have multiple errands. They also partner with other businesses and keep local fresh ice cream in store in case you want dessert (or a soda float!) They usually have a food truck out front most days as well, and they're working on having small bites inside as well (recently had soft Pretzels and cheesecake made in a smoker - it was all so delicious!). Plus they're always willing to get creative and try new mixes between drinks, and they do growler and crowlers to go! They've also got nice dog friendly patio seating, and an awesome upstairs room with a funky chic vibe and plenty of seating for your next party. This brewery is a must see!

I am new to Anchorage and the RR beers and meads have been better than any other local spot I found and tested. They have a good variety of booze and some nonalcoholic sodas that are tasty. You will love seeing displayed art work on the walls from local vendors downstairs and the chill, comfy upstairs! No other place in town compares to fun spot if you are looking to get a few brews.

Our friends brought us to this cool start-up brewery on a Sunday. They had a food truck outside and a steady crowd. The magic is in the pour, though. Regardless of your flavor, they have a nice option for you. I particularly enjoyed the brown and the Porter, and my wife had the Grape Juice, which is a higher gravity option which my wife describes as similar to an exceptionally well made traditional sangria. Cool vibes and great beers. Cheers! 🍻

Can't describe it better than cozy. Love that they have wine, mead, and cider in addition to the usual beer. Server was super friendly. Upstairs is a really nice seating area that's perfect for lounging and enjoying your drink.

Delicious beer and great atmosphere! Awesome customer service, very kind and knowledgeable. My favorite is the Hopportunity IPA. They do serve flights as well.

Came across this gem while driving back to the airport from Sewerd and needed one more Alaskan brewery before heading home. Tasty beer and a really friendly, comfortable feeling tap room. Loved the IPA on tap. I normally don’t like super sweet and sour beers but these small pours hit the spot. Will definitely come back the next time we are in Alaska!

So tasty. Good vibes. If you haven't had mead before, definitely try it out. And if you have, still give it a try.
