Restaurant
Snow City Cafe is a popular and vibrant eatery in Anchorage, known for its creative breakfast and lunch offerings. Established in 1998 by local restaurateur Laile Fairbairn, the cafe has become an integral part of the city's food scene. The menu features delicious dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, reflecting the region's upbeat atmosphere.
Everything about the experience was impressive. From the hand-offs to the food itself, it all just felt so well-orchestrated for such a popular spot outside a major city. Yelp itself could probably use some work, as our app crashed during attempted a remote check-in attempt, but the terminal at the restaurant was flawless and our estimated wait time was accurate to the minute. Our server (Hana) was helpful and quick. I wish every super hyped restaurant could run this smoothly. Did I mention the food was delicious? The food was delicious.

This is a famous breakfast place in Anchorage. You can call in and get your name on the waiting list which is a great idea. Went there on a Sunday and it was really crowded. We literally waited almost 2 hours for a table.! Weather for breakfast, but really ate lunch. Went there for the crab Benedict and it did not disappoint. It was absolutely amazing. Huge portions, especially the hashbrowns. Dee was our server and she was amazing and incredibly cute. The hostess staff were incredibly patient, considering the stress of how crowded it was and how many people were waiting. They will call or text you when your name comes up if you leave your phone number.

I was recommended this place while in town. I have found the food in Anchorage to be hit or miss… This was a hit. I came in during a breakfast rush on a Friday. The wait was long, so I scoped out the counter area and when a couple people left, I grabbed a seat. The service was fast. They made me a delicious latte that was served quickly as I mulled over my breakfast choices. I chose the biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and a side of bacon. Even the orange they used as a garnish was delicious! The biscuits and gravy were a perfect texture and had a good amount of biscuit to gravy. The hashbrowns and bacon were both excellent. I had left leftovers and heated them up for lunch later in the day and the biscuits were still great!

Very popular at breakfast time. We did not have to wait for a table, but it got busy quick. The food was delicious. Service was great. The atmosphere was fun and quirky.

Such a fun vibe! The staff here is incredible and super friendly. The food is top notch! If you are in Anchorage and looking for a breakfast/brunch spot.....make time to come. Get on the wait list or definately have time....we were here a couple of times during our week in Anchorage and saw up to 45-ish min of wait and other times just sat right down. We had coffees from here a few times and breakfast that was fresh and so tasty. The stuffed French toast with berries...I nearly licked the plate...we also got the egg Benny with a bonus stack that was just yummy Yummy Yummy! Every bite was tasty!

Snow City Café absolutely lives up to its reputation as Anchorage’s #1 brunch spot! I stopped in for breakfast and quickly realized why the place was packed so reservations are definitely the way to go. I sat at the counter and had the pleasure of being served by Deenju, who was fantastic in helping with selections (though, let’s be honest, when it comes to sticky buns, how much encouragement does one really need?). I tried the half-and-half Benedict, one classic and one with smoked salmon, and while both were delicious, the smoked salmon Benedict was hands-down my favorite. The sticky bun was a must, rich and gooey, and worth every bite. The hardest part of the morning was simply deciding what to order, because the entire menu looked incredible. The energy inside was upbeat, the service top-notch, and the food outstanding. If you’re in Anchorage, this place is a can’t-miss. I’d say it was love at first bite and the start of a beautiful friendship.

Great food, great Mimosas, and great atmosphere. Mariah was our favorite! ALWAYS smiling and so friendly and professional. She's an employee every company would dream to have. Take care of her- she's a keeper! Be prepared to wait. What many people I think didn't realize is when the bar opens up you can sit there first come - first served. We were on the list to wait at least an hour but as soon as the bar opened up we sat right down. We also got their delicious coffee while we waited as they also have a coffee bar in the waiting area. So far, the best place we've found for breakfast in Anchorage. I'm told during the summer there's a line around the block to get in so we got lucky coming in late September!

Food is absolutely delicious. It’s a popular breakfast place in town, and very busy. Would not recommend if you are looking for quick service. Got the polar bear dish with French toast and Canadian maple bacon.

Seafood restaurant
Glacier Brewhouse is a lively restaurant with a strong emphasis on wood decor, offering a menu featuring local seafood and wood-grilled meats alongside their own house-brewed beer. The oatmeal stout, served on nitro, presents deep and velvety flavors with subtle notes of coffee and roasted flavors. For an enhanced experience, the oak-aged version aged in Jim Beam barrels offers increased depth of flavor with hints of whiskey and cherry-like fruitiness.
Must do restaurant. Went after Princess Cruise, we beat the crowd but it gets busy. Saturday so had the seafood scramble and it was outstanding! Cheesy grits was my side and also great. Co diner said seafood salad was excellent. Burger and pizza was also good. Didn't try any beers but all hose made. Try it!

We visited this place twice during our trip to Anchorage, and honestly — it’s the best spot in all of Alaska! The food is absolutely outstanding — the halibut is next-level delicious, perfectly cooked and fresh as it gets. The beer selection is on fire 🔥, and the crispy potatoes are simply amazing — the kind of side dish you actually remember! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is super friendly, and everything feels authentic Alaskan. It’s the kind of restaurant where you walk out smiling and already planning to come back. I give it my highest recommendation. If you’re in Anchorage, don’t miss this place — it’s a must-visit!

Based on a trolley tour guide recommendation, we stopped in for lunch. An awesome beer selection and a full bar were a nice surprise. We sat at the bar and Heather provided excellent service. She was so pleasant and helpful with menu selections. We started with the calamari (steaks not rings); I had grilled salmon and husband chose shrimp & grits. There were no disappointments with any of our selections.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ We had the opportunity to dine at Glacier Brewhouse while visiting downtown Anchorage, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The ambiance was inviting, with a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Seating was comfortable, and the layout of the restaurant gave it a cozy yet upscale feel. Service was excellent—our server was friendly, attentive, and timely with both orders and refills. The staff handled everything professionally, which added to the positive impression. As for the food, we ordered the fish and chips, which we had been craving throughout our trip. While the fish tasted good, the portion size was underwhelming, especially considering the price point. Coming from South Texas, where fresh seafood is abundant and generously served, we expected a more robust serving—especially this far north where one might assume we’re closer to the source. We understand every region has its standards, but the value didn’t quite align with our expectations, particularly for a dish as classic and simple as fish and chips. That said, Glacier Brewhouse is still worth visiting for the atmosphere and service alone. We might return to try other menu items, but next time, we’ll explore other options for seafood.

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and hoped the 20 minute wait would be worth it. Oh, was it ever! The service, food and atmosphere were excellent!! We started with the pretzel breadsticks fondue, which was so great! My husband got the King Salmon special. He said it was the best salmon he’s ever had and would eat it over having a steak any day! I had the shrimp and grits and I was in awe! They were the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had them from Florida to New Orleans and now Alaska and these were amazing! The combination of flavors were incredible! I also added a side of asparagus to my meal. It was grilled and seasoned to perfection! Our server was very attentive and great with recommendations. We will be coming back very soon! I do recommend getting a reservation if you don’t have time to wait. Thankfully, we did and it was well worth it!

I have always loved Glacier Brewhouse, especially as a place to bring out of town guests for amazing Alaska seafood. Last night I had THE BEST king salmon I’ve had in my entire life. I’ve always received great service. Be warned, it gets loud in this lively restaurant, so it may not be the best place to have a quiet conversation (or, be warned if your dining partners are hard of hearing). But if you want an amazing meal in Alaska, this one is at the top of my list. I do recommend reservations if you’re trying for an evening, weekend meal. I also tried the pickle martini last night for a change up, and if you’re a pickle fan and you love dirty martinis, I’d recommend trying.

This place was a random stop on a very beautiful Sunday afternoon. The host, the waiter and even the chefs were super friendly here. I ordered a clam chowder and I can say that this was by far the best clam chowder I’ve eaten in my life. This place is a must visit when you’re in Anchorage, Alaska. Thank you guys for the amazing experience! Will be coming back.

Outstanding dinner spot. Lots of delicious seafood options and everything we ate was phenomenal. We both wanted to try the king crab so we got a 10oz add on which was perfect. The appetizer sampler was also a great pick to try a few different appetizer options- I couldn't pick my favorite from the trio. The brewhouse itself also has a great selection of different beers. My favorite was the raspberry wheat. Highly recommend giving this spot a try for a "nicer" dinner in Anchorage.

Mooses Tooth Pub & Pizzeria is a vibrant and bustling hangout in Alaska, offering inventive pizzas and house-brewed beer. The menu features a variety of gourmet stone-baked pizzas with an array of toppings, from classic to funky. Locally sourced ingredients are used to create each pie from scratch, ensuring top-notch quality. The pub's own brewery, Broken Tooth Brewing, produces popular ales like the Fairweather IPA that pair perfectly with their flavorful pizzas.
Super busy pizza spot, and for good reason! The beer and pizza is delicious. We got half of the special (Herakles) and half was brewhouse pizza. Both sides were packed full of toppings and cooked perfectly. The bread sticks were also amazing. We left perfectly satisfied.

Amazing!!! Recommended by 2 Uber drivers. Pizza is amazing. Love the creative flavor profiles and the classic pepperoni. The desserts were a delight. Rachel took care of us. Loved the whole experience. Yum! 10/10 recommend.

Pizza was excellent, and their rotational cocktail (strawberry based during our visit) was a pleasant surprise. The Hungarian mushroom was also really good. We were a group of 16, and the staff managed to accommodate us within 10 minutes of waiting — very impressive service! Highly recommend for both food and hospitality.

When we told friends and family we were traveling to Alaska, there was a common theme: go to Moose's Tooth! We had to cut our trip here short for an emergency, but had a few hours in Anchorage. We decided to have a lunch here and we're not disappointed! While the food and beer are definitely off the charts, the people are what makes this place so amazing. Julia was our server and really brightened our day in a way we can't even describe. Her energy boosted our spirits while the amazing food nourished our souls. I wish we could take this place back with us to Texas. It will forever be on our hearts.
Drew C — Google review
A very busy place! Was told it would be a 40 minute wait. Love that you can grab a drink and wait on the patio around the fire pit while you wait. The wait ended up only being 20 minutes. Our waitress was very friendly. Loved that they do 1/2 &1/2 pizzas. We tried the carnivore, the classic, call of the wild and chicken bacon ranch. The pizza crust is very good! The chicken bacon ranch was our least favorite. The root beer is crisp and delicious! Tried the pineapple upside cheesecake was disappointed that it lacked pineapple flavor. Overall would recommend and come back!
Lindsey — Google review
This place lives up to the hype—and then some. We tried three different pizzas, each totally unique and absolutely delicious. From bold flavor combos to perfectly chewy crusts, every slice was a win. The menu is full of creative options, and honestly, it was hard to choose (not a bad problem to have). Each pizza brought something different to the table, and there wasn’t a single bite we didn’t love. It’s easy to see why this place is a local favorite. Great vibes, fun atmosphere, and pizza that’ll haunt your dreams in the best way. Pro tip: Come hungry and bring friends so you can try more than one!
Laura L — Google review
Dinner on a weeknight, seated after a very short wait. I had heard about Moose’s Tooth before even arriving in Alaska so I knew I had to try them! I was not disappointed! Ordered a pizza for the table to enjoy and it met expectations. The crust was perfectly cooked and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. Our server was friendly and attentive. Already planning a return visit before departing Alaska! I highly recommend Moose’s Tooth!!
Brian B — Google review
pretty good! Pizza was *one* of the best I’ve had, easily top 3. I had a small pizza—1/2 carnivore and 1/2 firehouse. Crust was delicious. Cobbler was alright too, very filling. Pretty popular spot so this was actually the second time I tried to come here, since the wait time yesterday was very long. After being recommended at least once a day since I’ve been here, I think it’s definitely worth it. My server was amazing with her recommendations and in giving personal dish preferences. Stellar service!

Steak house
Restaurant
Club Paris is a renowned steakhouse located in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, boasting over 60 years of history. The restaurant's classic ambiance features dark wood paneling, leather booths, and elegant chandeliers. Known for its signature hand-cut steaks aged to perfection and cooked over a mesquite grill, Club Paris offers an exceptional dining experience. Additionally, the menu includes a variety of seafood options such as halibut, scallops, prawns, and red king crab.
Walked around and saw this quite nice place the night before, due to lining up, decided to come back the next day for lunch. Still lines around 1pm with no reservation, very popular place. Was looking forward to the king crab legs, but not available for lunch menu, ordered lunch steaks instead, was also nice. Great place to recommend!
Moomoo — Google review
Like a dinner. The booths are really old. Your China is on the table. Our waiter was great. He just moved back to Anchorage and was very helpful. The meat quality was just ok. Over rated restaurant. The clams were cooked so long they had no flavor.
Joseph — Google review
My husband and I didn't have reservations but we were lucky that there were seats available at the bar. We got that escargot, Halibut and New York strip (both were good but the Halibut was definitely our favorite!! ). It was nice and quiet in there which was nice.
Beth R — Google review
My wife and I went to club Paris for a impromptu lunch date. Upon entering we were met with a line of people waiting. The restaurant was packed full on a Friday. Because we had plenty of time on our hands we decided we would go ahead and wait. It's lucky that we did because the weight was less than 15 minutes and we were sat and ready to order within minutes after that. I am one of the lunch specials a Alaska king crab melt with a side of fries. My wife had the lunch special of quiche Lorraine. It took a little while for the food to come out and our server was on top of the kitchen asking where was one of the items that she was missing for our meal. I think realizing their mistake the kitchen immediately dished up a plate of the quiche for my wife. My wife of course had some of my fries and some of my melt. Surprisingly she didn't offer me any of her quiche. I'm just now realizing this a day later that I got swindled. Anyways we both thoroughly enjoyed our food and enjoy the atmosphere. The service was outstanding the server was very attentive. My glass of water never got empty. She was always right on top of any of our needs. We were pleasantly surprised when the bill came out lunch was $32 and of course we added a tip. We were comparing it to a restaurant across the street, Sullivan's. The same meal at Sullivan's would have easily cost us over $100. And it would have been nowhere as tasty as what we had at club Paris. If you haven't been to club Paris I highly recommend it. We will definitely be going back for more impromptu lunch dates.

Our first Steak House in Anchorage. We tried all of the sides, the rib eye, filet mignon and crab legs. Here is our rating. Crab Legs - 10/10 - very good but very expensive. A pound of them set us back $170 Filet Mignon - 9/10- it was delicious and we had it stuffed with Blue Cheese. Cooked perfectly. Why a 9/10- because the filet just wasn’t a great cut. Most likely not prime beef. Rib Eye- 7/10 - Cooked a little heavy on one side- a lower quality rib eye- but still good. Steak Fries - 7/10 - good fries, nothing spectacular Rice Pilaf - 10/10 - AMAZING- enough said. Baked Potato- 9/10- gold potato-the toppings were good but cheese sauce was a little much Overall thus was a good place to eat. A little over priced, and a little slow due to them being extremely busy. The staff was AWESOME! Very good service and the waitress was hustling around the whole time. What could make this place better? IMO they need to either increase staff or reduce customers. The chefs and staff being overloaded took away from the quality of the meal. They need to use better quality meat (this might be something that is harder and more expensive to get in Alaska-my first time here so I only have the lower 48 steak houses to compare it to). Final thoughts- for a meal, with no alcohol drinks, that cost $365 before tax it was a little below average, and I would expect much more back home, even at a nice place in Lake Tahoe (overpriced). It was good food and amazing staff.

First thing I want to mention is reservations are HIGHLY recommended. We visited on a Wednesday evening without a reservation and got lucky with availability at the bar. Steve, bartender, was very attentive. Husband ordered the prime rib end cut and claimed it was incredible. I had the teriyaki chicken and found it delightful. Carrot cake was delicious. If you get the chance, please visit.
Kathy M — Google review
I am not from Alaska. I was just visiting. I decided to stop here with a couple of coworkers. This has been my favorite restaurant so far. Although it was a bit pricey, my steak was tender and amazing. I tried the filet mignon teriyaki steak tips. I also got to try the stuffed mushrooms which were also great. My steak fries also fantastic and they also have a sweet red wine which I loved because I often cannot drink wines at restaurants as they don't offer my favorite which is a sweet red. I am extremely impressed with the food Service was very quick with not a lot of waiting for your food. They also had bread which was also great. I had a really good experience here. I only spent just over 80 bucks for my food and a tip and two bottles of wine. The sweet red came in these little mini wine bottles.

They have lots if steaks to choose from but since i come from the Midwest I get steak all the time so instead I went with the scallops cerole.

Bear Tooth Theatrepub in Anchorage, Alaska offers a unique experience by combining a full-service restaurant with a movie theater. The rustic and inviting ambiance sets the stage for an enjoyable night out or a dinner-and-movie date. The menu features delectable dishes, with hand-crafted pizzas being their specialty, made with fresh locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Great and friendly service. Very attentive staff and knowledgeable of the menu. The food quality was fantastic! We got the chicken wings and southwest eggrolls for apps and the Salmon Poke bowl. The fish was cooked to perfection and the sauces were addicting. I’m just bummed I live so far away from moose’s tooth. Definitely would go again when I come back to AK

We finally made it to Bear Tooth Theatrepub for breakfast, and wow—what an experience! I had the lemon blueberry pancakes and they were absolutely AMAZING—fluffy, full of flavor, and perfectly balanced between sweet and tart. Joe went for the biscuits and gravy, and they were just as delicious—hearty, savory, and packed with flavor. We both ordered coffee, and the staff went above and beyond by adding caramel syrup and whipped cream on top—a little extra touch that made it feel special. The service was warm, friendly, and fast, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. Highly recommend this spot for a great breakfast (or brunch!) in Anchorage. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu!

I was pleasantly surprised how great the food was here. I'm visiting from Seattle and I thought it might be a little bit difficult to find great food in Anchorage because the price of food would be high. I had the pork pozole, the kale Caesar and a coconut flan. They were all great! And the service from Andrea was fantastic. The price was very reasonable

This is a very popular spot in Anchorage. They told us it was a 45 min wait Sunday night, so we went back on Monday. Very good food! I highly recommend the Mango Habanero Chicken Bowl and Blueberry Serrano Wings. Service was good.
Joey R — Google review
It’s pretty good. Highly recommend if your visiting or have somebody visiting. The better food is on the theatrepub side but the fancy food is on the grill side. Had a burger, it was pretty good. There has definitely been a change in the past few years, as the overall vibe feels very different. Overall, it feels more cookie cutter and less of the “Alaskan experience” it was before. I would say it’s less friendly to locals and more of a normal restaurant. Theater side is still pretty good though. I would give 3 1/2 stars if I could.

My fiance and I had the rosemary burger and the bahn mi burger, along with an appetizer, a dessert and two drinks each, for eighty dollars. I think that was very reasonable!! The quality was amazing and the staff was very friendly

Had to check it out since I visited Moose tooth. Sat right away at the bar. Server/bartender was kind and quick with service and giving great recommendations. The food was brought out in a timely fashion and the fries were amazing and the Monte Cristo was delicious. I recommend.

Really enjoyed our visit. Staff was attentive, food was good except for their tortillas that go stiff and cold within seconds. We enjoyed their fish tacos and asked for spicy salsa. They brought us a house made green and red salsa; both really good!

Spenard Roadhouse is a vibrant and casual eatery that offers a diverse menu featuring dishes like Thai curry, burgers, and pizza. As part of Fairbairns Locally Grown Restaurants, the establishment is deeply involved in supporting the community by contributing to various organizations and local causes. The bar at Spenard Roadhouse boasts an impressive selection of small-batch bourbons and cocktails, including house-infused spirits.
We loved the atmosphere here. The playlist was good. It got louder when more people came in, but it was the buzz of everyone talking normally, not people hollering to be heard over the din. The staff was very nice. The drinks were delicious. I got the Rhubarbara Streisand and my wife got the Orange Sunryse with gin instead of whiskey. My wife got the Reindeer Scramble with tots. She said it was delicious. The eggs were seasoned. It was spicy, but not too spicy. She made a point to note how incredibly fresh all the produce is. I got the Veggie Benedict with a side of mac n cheese. Usually when they say pesto is an ingredient, you can barely taste it. Not this time!! And the mac n cheese.... omg chef's kiss!!! The sauce was creamy, the crumb on top was flavorful but without being too salty, the noodles were just right. I eat a lot of bennies and a LOT of mac n cheese. This was by far the BEST benny and the BEST mac n cheese I've ever had out. 1000/10 most highly recommend

After living in Anchorage for over 10 years, I finally tried Spenard Roadhouse on 27 June. I am kicking myself in the @$$ for not trying it out sooner. The staff were great and the food was amazing. We had calamari and beet carpaccio for appetizers and halibut & fries, shrimp & grits, salmon burger, regular burger, and strawberry shortcake to top off the meal. Everyone loved their food and we all will be visiting again soon.

Family friendly, looks small on the outside, but seems much bigger inside. And there are several places to sit. We went for dinner and were able to sit at the bar without a wait. They had great drink specials and food was out of this world!! SOO DELICIOUS!! By far my favorite restaurant on our trip to AK. The menu had a little bit of everything. I wished we were staying another night to eat here again.

Absolutely wonderful service! I forgot the name of our server, but she came to every table in her section to ensure they had water. Very kind people and wonderful family friendly atmosphere as always! My sister and me had the Mac & Cheese and delicious Jambalaya bowl!

Great place with good food. Recommend their fried chicken sandwich and the fish n chips

I cannot eat at an establishment that has restrooms which smell worse than any gas station or hardware store or truck stop I have ever visited. The men’s room smells of 5 year old urine. If your cleaner is incapable of sanitizing the restrooms I cannot fathom what the kitchen looks like. If you could smell this review it would stank like a mix of a combo of a Poop cruise/Concert Porta poty/poorly cared for Animal shelter. Do better Spenard Roadhouse what happened to sanitary standards? I read your response. Very unlikely you haven’t heard the restrooms are disgusting, as a matter of fact multiple women I was with said the ladies room was also very bad. So not sure how you’re missing the message. Maybe walk in there some time and check for yourself. I wish you the best, but cleanliness counts.

The fried chicken was phenomenal. It was fried to perfection for a southern guy. The seasoning was good also. I liked the smashed garlic potatoes.

Perched atop the Captain Cook Hotel in downtown Anchorage, Crow's Nest is a high-end restaurant known for its French and New American cuisine, extensive wine list, and breathtaking views. Named as an homage to the top of the tallest mast of ships from the late 18th century, this establishment offers a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere with a business casual dress code.
The Crow’s Nest offers a truly spectacular view of Anchorage—an unforgettable backdrop for our grand finale after a wonderful Alaskan cruise and scenic train ride to Denali. From start to finish, the service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and professional. The food was absolutely outstanding, with every course—from the salad to the dessert—prepared and presented beautifully. The salmon and steak were outstanding. I would highly recommend dining here if you're looking for a memorable culinary experience in Anchorage. Don’t hesitate—you won’t be disappointed!

Excellent restaurant! So glad we were able to snag a reservation here. On clear evenings the 360 view is outstanding. The service was excellent, the wine menu was overwhelming in the best way, and the food was very tasty. My favorite dishes were the halibut and the cheese plate. Highly recommend both of those dishes!

Absolutely wonderful dinner experience. Dropped $600 including tip, but was so worth it. Local to the area but took a visiting family member to celebrate their birthday. Great service, prompt but not over bearing, never an empty water glass, dishes removed at appropriate times. 10/10 will go back and recommend to family and friends.

The Crow’s Nest will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and now in my 30s I can really appreciate how special it is. The food was incredible, the cocktails were delicious, the caviar was some of the best, and the view was absolutely stunning no matter how many times I’ve seen it. Everything feels elevated but still comfortable, like fine dining without the stuffiness.
Celsea N — Google review
My friends and I had a great experience here celebrating a birthday! The service was top notch and the views from our table were amazing. Each of us enjoyed our meal throughly. They even did something special for my friend’s birthday! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Anchorage!
Kayla F — Google review
The views here over the water at sunset and also downtown are simply spectacular. The food was excellent, featuring a blend of European dishes and preparations, combined with typical Alaskan meats (king crab, salmon, halibut, cod) and some they clearly had to go beyond Alaska to get (angus beef and foie gras). A good variety of side vegetables are available. They are apparently famous for flaming bananas, but we had some kind of chocolate caramel concoction. While it is an expensive restaurant, it is very much worth it. They also have an extensive wine list. Service is very professional and attentive.

Amazing restaurant in the Captain Cook Hotel, located on the top floor of the hotel with stunning views. The food and cocktails were superb, our server Jill was outstanding and the atmosphere is professional, yet warm and cozy if that makes sense.

The restaurant takes pride in its city culture and offers friendly hospitality. It's housed in a building constructed from reclaimed wood from a historic local cannery.
An awesome decor and a great place to eat and have some drinks. Ordered artichoke dip with pita bread. Serving size was generous and it was outstanding. Chicken wings were delicious. The berry salad was a treat. Apple and prosciutto pizza was good with awesome crust. Service was friendly

They had menus ready for us to celebrate our anniversary with our names on it. Artichoke appetizer was amazing the bread was fresh and fluffy. Noodles were nice and cheesy. Scallops were a little on the spicy side but good

The Rustic Goat is a must-try! We ordered several dishes. Hummus – I Loved the rustic veggies that topped the hummus. The hummus had that perfect creamy texture. THE HEAT MISER Pizza – Total standout! The crust was soft and flavorful, and the reindeer sausage with caramelized onions made it next-level delicious. Alaskan Scallops – The curry sauce was sooo good—spicy with a nice kick, so be ready for some heat. Shrimp Scampi – Good, but I’d probably skip it next time and try something new. Overall, super tasty with fun flavor combos that make it worth the visit!

During a trip through Alaska, we stayed in Anchorage and decided to try this restaurant. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was really fun and lively. We had to wait a bit before being seated, but only like 10min. There were 3 people in my party and we all got different dishes. They all looked and tasted so good that we all shared some of our food. We also tested multiple desserts and they were also amazing and tasted so fresh! The waitress was also really helped and gave us the run down of the menu. We found out that the chef actually makes changes to and updates the menu based on the season, and it really makes a difference in the quality of the food. Overall we had a really good time and impressed with the food.
Christian S — Google review
Our dinners were great - drunken clams with reindeer sausage and pork sausage, and the pasta. Off the charts flavorful. We could not get a table reservation so we ate at the bar. The negatives - the pita bread was under done and had to be sent back and still was not cooked enough on the second try either. So bummed that All the beer taps were not operational so draft beer was a bust. The bartender/server, Adam, seemed nice but almost too busy vs attentive for our needs. So, it was a 5 on food and a 3 on some other things. VictorB

Rustic Goat is hands down the most comforting food and atmosphere in town. I’ve lived in Anchorage my whole life and can’t say enough how fortunate our neighborhood is to have Chef Frazer and his staff. They genuinely care about not only cooking good food, but caring for their customers and each other. A rare find of compassionate, relaxed and caring staff, and the most divine food. Our biggest stressor is deciding what to get: it’s all so good. If it’s your first time the clams and sausage are to die for, their wings are our favorite ever, the nachos are always perfect and you can never go wrong with the specials or a steak. Don’t miss out on desert either!
Josie H — Google review
I went for my birthday since it was one of the few "fancy" places open on Tuesdays. They printed out personalized birthday menus which was so cute and it's half off of dessert for birthdays. I got the elk, thai lettuce wraps, and creme brulee and both were very good. My boyfriend got the Kalbi bowl. If I had one slight complaint, its that the creme brulee tasted kind of burnt, like they torched it a little too long. But everything else was good
Chris B — Google review
I tried the chicken pizza and it was delicious, although there were only a few options to customize it. The Thai chili wings were very good as well. The only downside was the wait time. We were told it would be about twenty minutes but it ended up being closer to forty five. It was raining, so that might have caused some delays. Overall, the food was tasty and I would recommend visiting

Simon & Seafort's Saloon & Grill, affectionately known as Simons, is a renowned restaurant in downtown Anchorage offering breathtaking views of the Alaska Range and Cook Inlet. Since its opening in 1978, it has become a local favorite with a loyal following. The menu features delectable aged steaks and fresh seafood, including signature dishes like Asiago-almond crusted scallops and Norton Sound Alaskan red king crab legs.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Memorable Dining Experience with a Touch of Nostalgia Simon & Seafort’s Saloon & Grill truly delivered a memorable dining experience. From the moment our party of five walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly, which set the tone for a great evening. The ambiance is something special — it carries a nostalgic 70s vibe with a touch of elegance that makes the space feel both classic and fancy. It’s the kind of place that transports you back in time, in the best way possible. I ordered the 16oz ribeye, and I have to say — it was cooked to absolute perfection. Juicy, flavorful, and expertly prepared. While the smashed potatoes didn’t quite hit the mark for me due to an unusual taste I couldn’t quite place, it didn’t take away from the overall meal. The rest of our group had a fantastic experience with dishes ranging from the fish and chips to some of the best hamburgers we’ve had in a while. One of the standout features of our evening was the window seating overlooking the water — it added a peaceful and scenic backdrop to our meal. Simon & Seafort’s is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a unique and satisfying dining experience in Anchorage.

The security guard at the Museum of Natural History gave us a recommendation. So we arrived at your restaurant on the recommendation of Kelvin. From the time we were seated until the time we left the restaurant we were treated in nothing less than Grand fashion. Our waitress was attentive and helpful with offering recommendations on appetizers as well as entrees. Her recommendations were spot on. The calamari for an appetizer. The smoked Cherry single batch Bourbon drink as well as a blueberry mojito. They were mixed to perfection. The halibut cheeks as well as the black cod were cooked to perfection and definitely to our liking. The sides were absolutely delicious. Easily one of our better meals we had during our two-week stay in Alaska. We certainly appreciate the recommendation, we certainly appreciate the attentiveness of our server and the quality of the food served. We will definitely return when an Anchorage again

This was probably our best meal in Anchorage. We couldn’t get a reservation in the main room so we ate in the bar. It was a great option as we had a great view and a great server - Lacey! Don’t let the unpretentious front fool you. The Smoke&Bourbon drink was cool and delicious, and the beer and wine were great. The calamari was tasty albeit a bit heavy on the breading. Excellent crab stuffed halibut which was big enough to split! Really enjoyed the short walk to get here from downtown. This is not one to miss. VictorB

Amazing restaurant in Anchorage. If you can’t get a reservation, you can sit open seating in the bar which we did. A lot of seating in the bar, including overlooking the water. Get there early if you want those seats. Service in the bar area was excellent. The sourdough bread that came to the table was excellent. Our waitress was wonderful and the Caesar salad was very good. A lot of lemon in the Caesar dressing, but it really turned out well. Got the halibut cheeks and I’ve never had halibut this good. You could tell it was incredibly fresh and the texture was amazing as it was prepared perfectly.
Tom K — Google review
Came here on a week day for early dinner, it was packed, so family and I had to take the Saloon area. While it was cozy, it was terribly noisy and busy. Food was ok, nothing special really, (the calamari was chewy), definitely overpriced. The drinks however were great, could’ve had more if the bar had more staff (again terribly busy), and our server was nice. Not worth the visit in my opinion, solid 3 stars.

Excellent place on the first floor of three-story office building. Weight staff and service was top-notch from the drink never running empty to the warm bread served before the meal.. beautiful views facing the harbor. There was four of us and we each ordered four different meals and the seafood was perfectly cooked.. I would highly recommend this place, but it is pricey.
Robert H — Google review
I have visited several of the longstanding restaurants in downtown Anchorage, and this establishment distinguishes itself as a venue of genuine fine cuisine. The dishes were refined, flavorful, and thoughtfully composed, reflecting the expertise of a skilled chef. Service was exemplary, with our server, Andrew, providing attentive and professional care throughout the evening. The only shortcoming was the crème brûlée, which did not meet the same high standard as the rest of the meal. However, as it was graciously offered on a complimentary basis, this minor imperfection did not detract from the overall experience. The restaurant also offers a remarkable view, which enhanced the ambiance considerably. In sum, I was thoroughly pleased with the experience and would confidently recommend this restaurant as one of the premier dining options in downtown Anchorage!
Dr. T — Google review
6 of us were on a trip and looked online for a nice seafood restaurant. This place came promising, we tried booking. Not available for the same day. Still we went there for a dinner on a Wednesday. Place was full so we got our place near the bar. I will say I was not impressed as the online Google rating was. The table looked clean but needed a second touch. When ordering, they said we just ran out of that fish. Balance orders came. However, we had to ask and wait for the plates and cutlery. As to the calamari, it was more breadcrumbs and fried. On a positive note they helped us share food. All the issues maybe because of overwhelming busyness. Not a bad place to try.

Amazing banana foster egg roll. Duck was good but not enough fried rice to accompany it. My friends scallop mac and cheese was great too but the scallops were kind of small. Overall delicious, and amazing service.

Over the top food and drinks, artfully crafted to mimic an Upscale LA or NY experience. Very nice for special occasions. Modern food, incredibly attentive service with stellar recommendations. amazing service and food! i went in for a solo dinner right when they opened and the staff was very sweet and attentive. i started with the tuna over crispy rice and it was very flavorful and a generous amount of tuna. the rice was the perfect texture, crispy but just soft enough to pair with the tuna. the steak frites was delicious. my steak cooked perfectly rare and the fries tasted very fresh. the banana foster cheesecake egg rolls were the perfect dessert. like actually insane once the server put them on my table it only took her like 3 minutes to take my cleared plate. i ordered them with vanilla ice cream which i highly suggest.

The dish I got was the scallop Mac and cheese and what a treat. Not nearly as overtly oily as it might suggest with the addition of peppers. My aunt got the green curry which she loved. Fair warning the hot sauce they make in house is HOT but so flavorful. Fantastic evening. Worth the money.

If you haven't been here you're missing out. I've loved it since the 80s and it's still the best steak I've ever had. Best Cajun food, best dinner rolls, best appetizers.... And while we were here at the busiest time of the year (Valentine's Day) they dealt with the crowds and hoards with style and patience. Really wonderful staff that deserve an ovation. The French pepper steak is amazing, highly recommend the scallop stuffed mushrooms. And you have to have the Double Musky cake or pie.

If we are in Alaska, we are stopping by Double Musky for steaks. I always get the filet, my son always gets the French Pepper Steak. Finest steak around and the jalapeno cheddar rolls are delish! Prices have definitely gone up (as everywhere else). The only part that kinda took me aback this time was the limited (to 1) refill for soda - and the cups are not that large. Service is always great.

Picture it: peak tourist season, July in Alaska. It's a Saturday night and we need a reservation for 10 and no one is taking reservations. And then South came through! We had a great table in a private area. The service was on point - helpful, prompt, and professional. Let's get to the food -- the star of this experience. I'm a sucker to try French onion soup whenever possible but I'll also judge your establishment based on the quality of this dish and the French onion here is OUTSTANDING. The crab cakes with the poblano sauce were also unbelievably good. In fact, our table of 10 didn't have a dish that wasn't excellent. I'll be back if I'm back in town again.

Visiting my friend and popped in for breakfast. We went to the coffee first. We ordered a dirty chai and mocha. Because the coffee is freshly made expect a little wait time. The dirt chai was amazing. We then went over to dine. We were sat immediately. The server was very nice and accommodating. We ordered the death by bacon sandwich, Benedict with crab plus scallop cake and a single order of the sourdough pancake. The sourdough pancake was seriously unique. I loved that it was crepe like. You can taste a hint of sourdough. The death by bacon was extremely flavorful. The Benedict was amazing and the brioche bread it as served on was super soft. You won’t go wrong ordering any of these items.

Get on the Yelp waitlist before heading over to save time. The staff here are friendly and fast. We ordered the avocado toast with egg and bacon, plus the two eggs any style with a side of the pouch. The hotel boasts several dining options, including the AAA Four Diamond fine dining restaurant, the Crows Nest, which offers exquisite cuisine and an extensive wine selection.
This hotel does a great job making one feel special. The front desk staff is very helpful and welcoming. If you have a large load of baggage, bellhops will assist you in bringing that to your room via the carts or by hand. Then when you get into the room, seeing “Welcome, Eric Castro…” on the screen feels fancy. I didn’t snap any pictures of it, but the athletic center is outstanding. You’ll check-in in an outer room where the manager will inform you of the rules and show you the layout. The separate men’s section has lockers, showers, a shaving room with six sinks loaded with facial supplies. Then the gym itself is replete with high quality equipment. The dumbbells range from 5-100# with plenty of solid benches to use. The cable machines are Cybex and kept in great shape. I hope to return again very soon!

Location is great. It's right in the middle of downtown, so there's tons of stuff to do. The hotel itself is dated. Rooms are average. The big problem is it's RIGHT on the busiest street in Anchorage, so traffic noise is hell. Also they apparently already had the AC shut down for winter. My room was uncomfortably warm. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it below 75 degrees. Unless you MUST be downtown, I'd recommend looking elsewhere

A Stay Filled with Kindness and Grace. I recently stayed at this hotel with my dear friend of over thirty years, who is in the advanced stages of muscular dystrophy. This trip was meant to be a small but meaningful getaway — a chance for us to rest and share time together — and the staff made it truly special. From check-in to checkout, everyone was friendly and professional, but Ross, the Front Desk Manager, stood out in an extraordinary way. He arranged for fresh roses to be waiting in our room and extended a late checkout so my friend could rest comfortably before our departure. Those small gestures turned an ordinary hotel stay into something deeply memorable. I’ve stayed here several times over the years, but this visit touched me most. The compassion and quiet care shown reminded me that real hospitality is about seeing people and meeting them where they are. Heartfelt thanks to Ross and the entire team — you created a memory we will both treasure.

I didn't take pictures this time, unfortunately. Spacious, clean rooms amd bathrooms. Walking distance to just about everything Good elevators. Lots of history. Shopping and, bars and restaurants connected without having to go outside if weather bad. Staff cleanly dressed and very helpful with bags and questions.

Great hotel from a bygone era. It's very classy - with nice dark woods, and feels like you're stepping back in time, while at the same time not feeling old/stale. The gym is awesome - the men's sauna and steam room was a great place to recharge. The only downside is that there's no self-parking, but there are options nearby including a parking garage.

The check-in was smooth and easy. The desk clerks were super helpful and pleasant. The only odd thing we had happen was a maid trying to come into our room at 8AM while we're were all asleep. She said she was going to check the room. This was weird to us. It was so early for her to be trying to check rooms. Other than that, it was an awesome place to stay and decorated beautifully! Beds were SUPER comfortable and rooms were a great size with everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is older, but clean. We were on a cruise/land tour and this was our first night. Our room was clean and everything worked. The location is good, its right in the middle of everything so nothing is too far of a walk. Liquor store right across the street if you need to get something for a cruise carry on. Our only complaint is we asked for some more tea/coffee for our room and were told it would be there shortly, and it never showed up. There is a nice fitness area, pool and dry/wet sauna with lockers at the very bottom level that is included with your stay.

Brewery
49th State Brewing, established in 2010 near Denali National Park, pays tribute to Alaska's entry into the U.S. The brewery hosts community events like Augtoberfest and Solstice Brewfest, featuring their popular beer Solstice IPA. In 2016, they expanded to Anchorage with a three-story restaurant and pub offering stunning views from its deck. Formerly occupied by the Snow Goose, it now provides custom Alaska travel advice due to its diverse offerings and exceptional views.
This is a great spot to spend an evening! While the brewery doesn’t have its own parking, there’s plenty of street parking nearby that’s easy to pay for and gives you two hours. There might be a bit of a wait for a table, but you don’t have to just stand around — you can head down to the lower level via elevator, grab a beer, and relax outside while you wait. The atmosphere inside is awesome! Our server was fantastic — super knowledgeable about the menu and helped us choose a few brews we weren’t sure about. The food was delicious! We started with their homemade pretzel and cheese dip — so good! The chowder was excellent — hands down the best we’ve had on our trip so far (and we’ve tried a few!). We also had the tuna poke bowl, which was good — I just wish it had a bit more rice to balance out the flavors better. As for the beer, we took the classic flight option with 4 different tastes, our server recommended one called “Tiger blood sour” — and wow, it was the best I’ve ever had! It had coconut and tropical notes, something I’ve never seen offered at any other brewery in the U.S.

No complaints about my experience here! The elk burger is absolutely phenomenal. The salmon fish and chips were also great. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Plenty of seating so our party of 8 was seated after a short wait. Happy with the visit and would consider going again if I am in Anchorage again!

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Anchorage. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the attention to detail is outstanding. During my stay, I visited three times—each time I considered trying another place but kept coming back because of the quality and consistency. While many restaurants in Anchorage don’t have the best ratings, this one truly stands out. I highly recommend it—the food is amazing, and the blueberry pie is an absolute must-try.

Fairly good place. Very popular and busy. We sat on the rooftop. The halibut fish and chips was average. The Chicken bowl was fantastic! My son had the Yak burger and liked it, but couldn’t finish it because it was so big. I’d recommend this place if you’re in Anchorage

Disappointed in this restaurant. Had to wait about 25 minutes for a table, which I didn’t mind, but the only area left to wait with chairs was across from the restrooms. 25 minutes of sitting next to the RR was a turn off. Please take the seats away from this area, it’s not a pleasant place to wait for a table before dining. Once we were seated I Had the Adventure Beer Flight and all of the selections were really good! I ordered fish and chips. The fish was just OK, the fries were awesome, and the Cole slaw was inedible, the flavor was off. No one else at the table liked it either. My wife had Mac and cheese and it was incredibly bland, it was thick like paste and she couldn’t finish it. Service was lacking and we went long periods without contact from our server. When we finally got our bill we paid and left without complaint so we could get checked into our hotel. When looking at our receipt noticed a 3.9% service charge that I had no idea what it was for (we only had 4 people in our party) and I was charged for fry sauce. When I was offered fry sauce our server never said it would be an up-charge. Just not a great experience here and can’t recommend.

This restaurant is amazing!! Would give 1000 ⭐ if I could. We had only one meal in Anchorage during our trip and after reading the reviews and local recommendations online we decided to go here and I'm so glad we did. The food is phenomenal, you gotta have the tuna nachos and the halibut and chips, they're amazing!! The yak burger and chicken wings were also phenomenal. Of course, the drinks were also fantastic, shout out to the 907 Pale Ale and the raspberry lemonade. And the service was great, our waiter Pawan was the best and the manager was constantly checking all tables to make sure everyone was having a great time. We hope to come back here sometime in the future.

We waited about an hour for a table, but it was absolutely worth it. Once seated on the top floor, we were treated to stunning views that made the experience even better. Our group tried a variety of dishes—including the halibut fish & chips, chicken bowl, crab mac and cheese sandwich, artichoke and crab dip, Parmesan-crusted halibut, and steak. Every single dish was a hit, and everyone left satisfied. Highly recommend!

What a gem of a restaurant in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. The setting is great and there are excellent views of the city from the outside deck. The food was amazing, flavorful and fresh. I enjoyed the Alaskan Adventurer Seafood Soup (bowl) along with a pretzel. The service was excellent as waiters were very attentive and only came around with checks when requested so our group felt relaxed and not rushed.

Kincaid Grill is a hidden culinary gem located in west Anchorage, offering a fine dining experience with fresh seafood and expert preparations. The restaurant's menu changes with the seasons to ensure the freshest ingredients are used. In addition to seafood, Kincaid Grill also offers delicious steaks and burgers for non-seafood lovers. The white tablecloth setting and excellent service make it an ideal place for special occasions or simply enjoying a bottle of wine.
If you’re looking for something, a little bit more personal and intimate? Look No-further this place is the spot! 🙌 A heartfelt thank you to Kincaid Grill for an exceptional dining experience! From start to finish, everything was seamless, making for the perfect night out. Making reservations was a breeze, thanks to Julie, who ensured everything was taken care of with her excellent communication and follow-ups. Our server, Aaron, was outstanding—attentive, professional, and thoughtful, making sure our every need was met. The extraordinary dishes were a true testament to the restaurant’s dedication to fine dining. You made my husband’s birthday celebration truly special, and we are so grateful. We can’t wait to return!

I would give this restaurant and chef a Michelin star. The pairing and composition of flavors and textures in most of the dishes is nothing less than genius. The flavors are rich, complex but balanced to perfection. Every bite felt like heaven. The use of high quality fresh ingredients in all dishes is evident. For appetizers we ordered the Gorgonzola fondue, seafood fusion soup cauliflower crème soup and poached pear salad, for the main we ordered the Alaskan halibut and Alaskan black cod which was brilliant. All the portions are generous, the prices for the appetizers soups salads and deserts are surprisingly low vs their superb quality. The ambience and vibe in the restaurant are friendly and welcoming. Our waitress Kimberley was professional energetic and knowledgeable, accurately explaining every dish. Wonderful remarkable experience!

Service was phenomenal. I didn’t tell the server about my fish being watery/mushy, but that’s because it was at the end of the meal. Otherwise the food was great, homemade bread, and good drinks. Atmosphere was a little too fancy for what it is. More casual would of made it better.

slight confusion with dish but customer service was so good- we didn’t care at all. crazy how all of these unsuspecting buildings have some fantastic food once you get in to door. we had salmon special and halibut.

The non descript front is deceptive to what’s inside. When we arrived we wondered if it was open as it didn’t look like much from the outside. However once through the two doors, the ambiance shifts to a cozy interior. Service was impeccable and professional. We started with the Cesar pear salads followed by the scallops and salmon.

Kincaid Grill offers a refined dining experience with a menu that’s creative, well-executed in parts, and slightly uneven in others. We started with the Pork Belly Appetizer, which was a standout. The texture was spot-on. Crisp exterior, tender interior, and the combination of hot honey glaze, crispy polenta, frisée & fennel, and pickled red onion created a perfectly balanced bite. This dish set the tone for what we hoped would be an exceptional meal. The Seafood Fusion dish was bold and beautifully composed with king crab and lemongrass-infused coconut milk bringing vibrant, aromatic depth. The only out-of-place element was the shrimp-mushroom wonton, which felt like an odd fit with the rest of the flavors. The Roasted Alaskan Oysters, though technically from the Pacific Northwest, were large, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Another highlight was the Black Cod, glazed with miso and paired with sesame-ginger scallion. It was silky, rich, and expertly cooked, easily one of the top dishes of the evening. Unfortunately, not everything hit the mark. The Alaskan Halibut was underwhelming, bland and lacking acidity or punch, especially compared to the more dynamic dishes on the table. The Gumbo also failed to impress; it felt flat and one-note. On the dessert front, the Crème Brûlée was standard fare, nothing wrong with it, just nothing special. The Cookies & Cream Semifreddo, however, was a fun and satisfying end to the meal, with a creamy, nostalgic sweetness that elevated it above the typical dessert offerings. All in all, Kincaid Grill delivers a thoughtful menu with a few standout dishes that are well worth trying. While not every plate was a hit, the highs were truly memorable and show the kitchen’s potential when everything clicks.

Marx Bros Cafe is an upscale restaurant in Anchorage known for its creative seafood dishes and extensive wine selection. The menu, curated by renowned chef Jack Amon, features experimental contemporary cuisine using high-quality ingredients that are changed daily to keep things fresh. Diners rave about the halibut cheeks and bread pudding, as well as the table-side preparation of the Caesar salad. The restaurant offers an elegant setting with excellent service and a diverse wine cellar.
I think I've been to the Marx Bros Cafe when I was little, but I don't remember that visit. I just went recently to celebrate my dating anniversary with my fiancé. It was very nice! I love the cozy atmosphere inside. Our server was very attentive and the all of the staff was polite. My favorite part of the evening was watching them make the Caesar Salad fresh table-side, I highly recommend it! Our meal was amazing! I had the duck and my fiancé ordered the pork chop. From what I understand, some of their main menu changes every so often, so it gives you a reason to come back in the future and try new dishes! It is a pricier restaurant, but definitely worth it.

Right away when The Marx Bro’s Cafe announced on social media they were retiring, I made a reservation for my husband and I’s anniversary. Over the past month I’ve heard of people unable to get reservations and a BIG wait list. Last night it was finally time for our reservation and it was an amazing experience and maybe not for the reasons you think. Sure, the food was delicious & yes the service/timing was impeccable as always, but the realization of the history and personal connections/impact is what stood out most to me. Our server was the same server who helped us last time we were in for my husband’s birthday. I sat there wondering what their employees would move on to next, if I could get a recipe book, where the art was going and who would take the building over next. I looked around and saw many friends and families enjoying their night laughing, smiling & reminiscing. I asked the gentleman making our Caesar salad what his plans were after the restaurant closed next week. “Be a farmer,” he said. He has never been a farmer before, but will be able to spend time with family he hasn’t seen in years. He will be driving the Alcan with family to Mexico. Alaska provided an opportunity for him to pay off his debts, work hard and create a life he only ever dreamed of. He came to AK to get away from CA, where he could no longer sell cars, due to living the fast life of too many speeding tickets. Our conversation was a lot longer, but you could tell Van, Jack and his other restaurant family has had a big impact on his life. I hope the best for him on his new journey. On the art, I noticed round pink garage sale stickers. I asked what they were for. They were pieces that had already been sold and a couple he pointed out the owners were keeping for themselves. There was only 4 left, not claimed yet. How cool for people to have a piece of history. Now, who would take the building over? I for sure thought another restaurant would swoop it up, but then there’s the risk of the new owners changing too much/ruining what’s been built up for 40+ years. A non profit that makes meals for the homeless will occupy the building, which I think is wonderful. We also discussed their chef who sadly passed years ago and the connections. I’m a 911 operator and vividly remember the day we got the call. Sounds like all who knew him were very lucky. I also overhead a guest conversation about someone not being present working last night. The reason was due to the abuse they’d been receiving for the past two weeks, with people unhappy they were unable to secure reservations. This makes me sad. This is not the Anchorage I want to be a part of, where we send beloved members of our community into retirement in a hateful way because we don’t get something we want. We can do better! Sure, easy for me to say since we did get a reservation, but I would feel the same way even if I didn’t get one. We should be celebrating, respecting, encouraging and thanking this fine establishment into retirement and remember how blessed we are for the legacy they’re leaving behind and ever even being a part of our community. P.S. the halibut cheeks, Caesar salad & scallops were my favorite from our meal. We didn’t have room for dessert unfortunately. I wanted one of everything, but my body said otherwise.

Definitely, a must visit when in Anchorage. Small menu, nice wine list, not huge, but solid selection. My friend who loves craft beers had a good selection and was happy to see what they had. All in all, great meal, our Server, Amanda was perfect! Go and treat yourself. Oh yeah, someone in our party had a dairy allergy and they were great at checking with the Chef and offering options. That doesn't always happen but Amanda made it easy for us.

Tried this place based on reviews seen. I give this place 4 stars. The negatives for me were waiting a long time for dinner after the appetizers, but it is also a small place as was quite busy at the time of our seating. Second negative, both dinners were not hot just warm. The dinners we tried were the Kodiak scallops and the halibut. The appetizer was halibut cheeks which were amazing, and were served hot. We tried tiramisu and carrot cake and both were great!! Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Definitely a place to try if you have not been here.

Delicious food especially on a cold Alaskan night. Marx Brothers has great service and very cosey atmosphere perfect for a double date. All (4) of us had the Ossu Bocco, which was incredibly delicious. We started with the Melitzano Salata, Alaskan Oysters, and Smoked Pork Belly. Everything was the perfect temperature, and tasted fantastic. Searched around a few places as we visited family here from Maryland, and were satisfied with the Marx Brothers. Hope to stop by on our next visit!

OMG, excellent dinner and service. Was greeted/seated by a very pleasant young lady and Mr. Van, himself! The appetizer of foie gras is literally 'melt in your mouth' buttery smooth, amazing. We enjoyed fresh baked bread with olive oil, entree of Salmon with an increditable red pepper sauce, entree of scallops, shrimp, housemade spinach noodles with roasted broccoli. All was prepared with perfection.

Jens' Restaurant is a hidden gem located in a strip mall, offering inventive Continental cuisine with Scandinavian and European influences. Executive Chef Nancy Alip continues the traditions of Jens Hansen, infusing classic dishes with modern updates. The menu features dishes like halibut and black cod served with creative accompaniments such as carrot-ginger-basil pesto and butternut squash.
Jen's was a hidden gem. We actually found it because most other places were closed at 9pm and they stayed open late for us to finish dinner. Excellent! The fine dining experience was very satisfying. Our server was very prompt, professional, and entertaining. I had the halibut with mushrooms, mashed potatoes and fried zucchini. It was the best dinner of my entire visit to Anchorage. My wife ordered the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly medium and was so juicy and flavorful she was talking about it for days. The server recommended a wine to go with the halibut, and I wish I would have noted it but it added so much to the meal. It both complimented the fish and helped clear the palette. If we ever go back to Anchorage, Alaska we will make it a point to return to Jen's and experience the next concert of flavor they have in store for us.

The food was Okay. Nothing to be excited about. The calamari was amazing but everything else went downhill from there. The bread was cold and just sliced sandwich bread, nothing special. The salads were mediocre, flavors blended and not that great. I had the beet salad and my husband had the Cesar salad, his was way too vinegary not even sure it they even used anchovy sauce. The pasta was horrrrrrible not even cooked properly and the sauce was bland and not very favorable. I had the ribeye steak and it was totally fatty could barely eat. Seasoned Veggies were two pieces of zucchini and a ton of mashed potatoes. The chutney was cold and not great. So bummed heard so much about the restaurant and couldn’t wait to go, I don’t think I’ll ever go back. Can’t believe it had such high reviews. It was my birthday tonight…. Booo Jen Roy

Jen's is one of Anchorage's best kept secrets. The food is high end. The service is great and the employees really care to provide a great experience. We had oysters and they were delicious. The filet I had was as a great cut and portion. The cherry-bacon compote on top was spectacular. The deserts really hit a home run for us. The key lime pie, flourless chocolate cake and carrot cake are 3 of my favorites and they were all amazing.

Loved this place. The staff were friendly and attentive. Katherine was great! I wish I hadn't aggressively eaten the charcuterie board before I could get a picture. It had so many flavor combinations to try. The the house salad with the strawberry vinaigrette was light and refreshing as it was a bit warm outside today. Our steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly. My filet fell apart in my mouth. The scalloped potatoes were a perfect contrast to the seasoned filet. We will see you again! Thanks 😁

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Anchorage Treasure—Exceptional Food, Service, and Soul Jen’s Restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it’s an experience you don’t forget. From the moment you step in, you feel transported into a warm, elegant space where every detail matters. The lighting, the art on the walls, the table settings—everything reflects a level of care you rarely see anymore. But the real magic is in the food. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and perfectly balanced. You can tell this kitchen respects ingredients and understands how to turn a meal into a memory. The plating was beautiful, but the flavors spoke louder than anything. Whether you’re a seafood lover, a meat enthusiast, or into fresh, vibrant salads—there’s something here that’ll wow you. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. It felt like they genuinely cared about making our night special. And in a world where that kind of hospitality is disappearing, Jen’s is keeping it alive. This is the kind of place that reminds you why we go out to eat—not just to be fed, but to feel something. Highly recommended for anyone in Anchorage, visiting or local. You won’t be disappointed.

Wild Scoops is a beloved local ice cream shop in Anchorage that offers unique and delicious flavors made with fresh, local ingredients. The shop started as a small operation and has now grown into a full-time store in midtown. Customers rave about the friendly staff, warm atmosphere, and the opportunity to sample various flavors before making a choice. The waffle cones are particularly popular for their perfect crispness.
This place is so good!!! Not sure how the other guys stay in business!!! I ordered 3 scoops in a waffle cone. The ice cream is so creamy and good. Several flavors to choose from. I don’t think you’ll go wrong choosing any of them. But samples are given if asked ☺️☺️ Stop in and get a scoop or three!

The ice cream here is SO GOOD! While all the flavors we tried were delicious and obviously homemade, the Oreo was the show stealer! The baked Alaskan cone is a really unique idea and a great addition to the ice cream. The waffle cone was a really good cinnamon flavor as well. Highly recommend this place!

This place is adorable and clearly a local favorite. I can see why, it was delicious! They have lots of flavors and options for customizing. My wife, daughter, son-in-law, and I needed sweet treats after exploring Potter's Marsh in south Anchorage.. Enter Wild Scoops for the win!! A decidedly local ice cream shop, Wild Scoops offers a rotating selection of flavors sure to satisfy any palate.. I personally sampled the Ultimate Cookie Dough topped with Baked Alaska (torch-finished marshmallow creme) set inside a waffle cone.. Each bite brought with it a perfect medley of sweet cream, cookie dough, M&Ms, pretzel pieces and chocolate flecks.. The torch-finished marshmallow creme complemented the hand-crafted ice cream perfectly.. At the end of the day, Wild Scoops is worth the drive from wherever you might be in the greater Anchorage area, and their prices are quite reasonable for the quality of product and service received..

The line was long, I almost left, but fortunately, I decided to stay. It was worth the wait. The ice cream was delicious, and the cones were baked to perfection. The staff was awesome and the prices were ok. The place is in a plaza so the parking is plenty and free. I haven't tried it but noticed they have vegan options.

Wasn't familiar with this ice cream shop but it was recommended by someone people we met out and about. So glad we decided to stop by and try. We lined up just as the rush was getting started. You will probably have to wait in line, but it is really worth it. The Baked Alaska cone was so good! A wonderful treat for the day. Orso, meaning bear in Italian, is a popular dining spot located near Anchorage's performing arts center. The restaurant offers a menu featuring local seafood and grilled meats, complemented by an extensive selection of over 20 wines by the glass. The decor resembles that of a Tuscan villa rather than a typical bistro in Anchorage, with no deer antlers or beer rugs in sight.
For starters we had flat bread, for main course Parmesan crusted halibut and fresh catch of the day, king salmon with couscous , grilled asparagus, cherry tomatoes and olives. Well balanced dish!! For dessert we had the best bread pudding I had
Codlea — Google review
Disappointed in the quality of the food. The king crab legs were good, but the couscous wasn’t edible. The grilled squash and zucchini were just okay. The grilled asparagus was very good. Service was very good. All in all, I would not go back. Even with a 20% discount due to buying gift cards at Costco, I don’t feel the meal was worth the money. The Bavarian Hefeweizen was the best part of the meal. My husband had the grilled ribeye. We both felt we make a better steak at home.
Christine D — Google review
Walking into Orso, I immediately felt comfortable. The atmosphere is casual enough to keep things relaxed, but there’s an attention to detail in the décor and service that makes dinner here feel like a special occasion. I ordered the halibut, and honestly, it might be one of the freshest pieces of fish I’ve ever tasted. The flavor was so clean and bright that it almost didn’t need anything extra, though the light seasoning and perfectly cooked finish elevated it to something amazing. You could absolutely tell it hadn’t traveled far—anchored in Alaska’s seafood reputation, it tasted like the ocean in the best possible way. For dessert, I couldn’t resist the pistachio cake. I’m so glad I didn’t skip it because it was a showstopper. Moist, nutty, and subtly sweet, it had the kind of balance where every bite made me want to slow down just to make it last longer. It wasn’t overly heavy either, which made it the perfect end to the meal. The staff were warm and attentive without hovering. They seemed genuinely happy to guide first-time visitors like me through the menu, which added to the positive experience. Overall, Orso gave me exactly what I was hoping for in an Anchorage dinner: excellent local seafood, thoughtful touches, and a dessert I’ll be craving again soon. If you’re visiting, especially if you want to taste halibut at its freshest, this place is a must.
V. R — Google review
The food here was very good and we focused on seafood, namely, the king crab, and a halibut dish, both of which were fresh and delicious. A vegetarian colleague reported that the portobello mushroom parm was excellent. Service was quick and friendly and they have good dessert options too. The place gets very crowded and we reserved an early table to avoid the wait.

Best meal I’ve had in Anchorage. Crab-stuffed shrimp w/ pesto pasta was superb. Great service and great ambiance. Excellent wine by the glass selection, and wine glasses were high quality.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. The food was superb and the atmosphere very casual and comfortable. The service was acceptable if a little slow. I will definitely consider this as a dining option in the future.

This was recommended as the best place to get chicken parm in Anchorage. The chicken parm was good, although the pesto pasta had way too many vegetables, which I've never had with chicken parm. I'm used to Long Island Italian food. For that, 4 stars. Otherwise, food, service was good. I was surprised we had to pay for bread for the table though. We went September 11th.

You must, you MUST eat at Orso once in your life at least. This experience has certainly been a culinary climax and I will most definitely be back when I'm back in Anchorage. I had the Red Copper River Salmon with Rosemary Polenta and Grilled Asparagus. I was absolutely thrilled with my choice after one bite. The only complaint is that there was simply not ENOUGH grilled asparagus on the plate. My partner who hates asparagus raved about the boldness of the flavor. Speaking of boldness of flavor - the Rosemary Polenta was powerful and I savored every single course grain. Finally the salmon was executed with precision. You will absolutely be missing out if you miss out on this wonderfully decorated restaurant with unforgettable food. Cannot recommend enough!!

Gwennie's Old Alaska Restaurant offers a taste of the past with its home cooking and all-day breakfasts, served in a cozy eatery adorned with knickknacks, native art, and vintage photographs. Located in the Spenard area of Anchorage, this restaurant has been a go-to spot for over 30 years. The menu features classic favorites like golden deep-fried chicken served with sides just like Mom used to make.
We are in town visiting from WA and wanted a breakfast place and Gwennies was suggested several times. The food was so good! I had the crab Benedict and it was the best I have rated with big chunks of crab. Our server was amazing and the food came quickly.

A must visit. Fox News is on. The bartender was the best. She made me feel welcome and was just a gem! Order breakfast- it is the way to go. All other guests were locals so their conversation was so fun to listen to. Highly recommend for a true old school Alaskan experience. I know they voted for the idiot in power and I still ate there- bringing the true diversity this place needed. The only way we can change is to talk. And that is what I did here. Great place!

I really really wanted to love this place. But ultimately it’s meh. Let’s start with pros. The menu does have a lot of options allowing picky eaters to find their groove. The staff was very kind and the decor was nice to look at especially while waiting. I did Ike that they had a nice sized waiting area especially with it being cold. The food was not bad and the coffeee was good!! No the cons… the building was not in the best shape some areas looked as though it was falling apart. The food was very bland with not much flavor at all. It was very very similar to ihop actually. The burger was the best thing we had.

What a breakfast! The cool Alaska theme with history throughout is really cool, and the people working there are impressively nice. Our server was on point and knew the menu cold. The food came out fast, and it was all very, VERY good. 5 people were no problem for her to seat, serve, and maintain. I really regret not coming here sooner.

Quick, friendly service. Food came out hot. I got the special with 2 eggs, bacon, and French toast. It was all really good. The atmosphere is great.

I ordered an omelet what I got was an overcooked plop of eggs dumped on a bunch of ham. The potatoes were flavorless. It's like they boiled them put them in a skillet for a minute with no seasoning. This was very disappointing.

Stopped in for breakfast and was immediately impressed with the entire experience. The decor, the staff, the food, the congeniality of the other patrons…all amazing. Our kids are already asking to stop back in on our way back to the airport!

Interesting little spot we visited where the breakfast is all day long and rated well! Spent lunch there and had the reindeer sausage breakfast and the lunch special - corned beef. The food was good, nothing to complain about and as you would expect. The service was good - knowledgeable staff that know a lot of the regulars! The atmosphere is extremely old school kind of like a western saloon/tavern. There is a dining area and a small bar area. Prices were reasonable. There is plenty of parking and public transit outside.

Nestled 2,300 feet above sea level on Mount Alyeska, Seven Glaciers Restaurant is a top-tier dining destination accessible by a scenic tram ride. Boasting AAA Four Diamond status, this refined yet inviting establishment offers a prix fixe menu that showcases local seafood and produce. The restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows provide an unparalleled view of seven glaciers and the surrounding mountains.
I had never been here and was ecstatic to see that they were offering a full vegan menu for the Anchorage Vegan Chef challenge. My husband decided to treat me to the experience and I’m so glad we went. We got fancy and the views were lovely. I was impressed with their vegan 7 course dinner. It was clear that a lot of thought and care had gone into its creation. My only feedback was that the squash and eggplants could have been cooked slightly longer but the flavors on everything were SPOT on!

I love the concept of this restaurant being located at the summit of a mountain. The views are stunning, the environment is romantic and the food is DELICIOUS. It's a great perk that the gondola ride to the top of the mountain is included in your reservation. We had an 8pm reservation and were seated at our table right away. What was disappointing is that our table was ignored for 30 minutes, while tables next to us kept receiving course after course. I'm not sure if something was lost in translation with who would be assigned to our table but no one came by with a menu or hello for a solid 30 minutes. We unfortunately had to say something to our very attentive water person. The team apologized and I do appreciate they comped a glass of prosecco on the house as a courtesy. So although our experience had a rough start, it only went up from there. The food and tasting menu were delicious! Compliments to the chef! My favorite course was the lobster bisque. It was like a flavor explosion! The coconut and mango dessert was also something very special - I loved how creative, delicious and even interactive it was. A very fun way to finish the meal. All in all, I think our experience with the service was a rare instance, the gondola rides were so fun, the food is outstanding and I definitely would recommend this spot for a special occasion or romantic night out.
Bailey J — Google review
Didn't care for the music. Portions were small for all the seven courses. I did enjoy the steak (quite small) and noodles (again, small). The salads were nothing to write home about. The carrot was delicious also, but that's me like a sidedish and not a meal. Too expensive for what you get. The Smores dessert was ridiculous (not much of anything on the plate as you can see in the photo). P.S. If you will have wine, just buy the bottle and save yourself $$$$
Max P — Google review
Food was tiny and hit-and-miss flavors, not worth the price. It took 2.5 hours to get the "full experience". The wait staff was polite and friendly. The atmosphere was beautiful and the facility was nice, but overall we wouldn't come back. The highlight of our trip was the included tram ride..
Samuel B — Google review
This was our first time here and like everything else at the Alyeska Resort the establishment was first class, no expense spared. Unfortunately this leaves them with charging some ridiculous prices. The tram is free if you book a reservation but if not it is $45 per person.. absolutely absurd. They have a seven course prix fixe menu but only four of the courses were what I would call good. If you want the wine pairing that they have chosen it is at an additional cost. Overall it was a nice experience to have one time but I would never go back, it was way too overpriced for the quality of food and despite the excellent service and atmosphere I can't eat either one of those.
RAW — Google review
They offer a chef’s tasting menu and we dined here during the summer, so the menu was their summer offering. The amuse-bouche was a scallop ceviche, which we thought was great. There was a nice contrast of textures between the seaweed crisp and the sauce. The foraged greens were fresh and we enjoyed the vinaigrette. The lobster bisque was our favorite part of the menu. It was rich and delicious. The agnolotti was also delicious and came in as our third favorite, with the halibut being our second. The goat cheese in the agnolotti wasn’t overpowering, the flavor was just right to complement the pasta and sauce. Then came the steak, which was an Argentinian loin with a veal jus and asparagus espuma. It was extremely tender and the asparagus was also cooked perfectly. Between the two desserts, the blueberry & lemon was by far our favorite. The mango & coconut lacked flavor and also seemed disjointed with flavors and textures between the coconut granita, pina colada, and mango flambé. The reason I gave the food and overall review 4 stars instead of 5 and my only complaint would be we were really looking forward to the halibut and steak and although they were both very good and cooked perfectly, they were a little bland and could have benefited from some salt. The veal jus sauce that came with the steak tasted almost like a plain brown gravy as well. Overall, we would most definitely dine here again. The service was excellent and the views are incomparable.

Impressive that their menu can adjust to dietary restrictions. Views were great. Our table service was good. Bar was extremely slow. The best dish I had was the vegan chocolate dessert. The best dish my husband had was the seabass. I feel like there could be some improvements to the menu.

Jack Sprat is a popular restaurant in Girdwood, Alaska, known for its creative dishes and vegan options. The airy, wood-dominated space offers stunning views of the mountains through floor-to-ceiling windows. The warm golden glow from within adds to the welcoming ambiance. The restaurant caters to both vegetarians and carnivores with a variety of meat and vegetable options on the menu. Additionally, there are plenty of vegan choices available.
This is a great spot to eat for quality food, vibes, etc. I kinda wish they had more to their menu but they still offer great food. Their burger is one of their best options (I’m sure their salmon is better I just haven’t tried it). What really makes them great is they have a high quality dessert! I feel I can never find a good dessert at a restaurant because it’s always some dry crusty cookie/cake with corn syrupy ice cream. Jack Sprat has a great chocolate olive oil cake with mascarpone! It’s perfect and would definitely get again.

This was honestly the best meal I've had in a while. Our server was incredibly welcoming. Our meals were amazing. The Mama Mia! might be the winner. I appreciated the extensive kids menu. The Birds and the Trees was a great healthy option. Not sure how they cooked those carrots, but they were to die for!

Edit: changing my review. Previously had posted some frustration about showing up to a private dinner. However, we made it down the following weekend and were sat immediately. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the staff very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I had the ribeye which was excellent. My daughter had the kids chicken, rice and broccoli dish and my wife had the bipimbop. Everything was great and all the food we saw coming out to other tables looked fantastic as well. Worth the 2nd attempt for sure and would love to come again. Prices were fair as well.

Great local spot. Ordered the halibut cheeks lettuce wraps🥰. Salmon bowl, and sausage pasta. Food was great, service was pretty slow, the gentleman next to us sent back his food and ordered something else and it took over 20 min to get his next dish.

Amazing dinner and great service from Ian! This gets crowded so enjoy a drink on the patio, or shop at the gift shop next door. When you get seated have the tagliatelle with Ragu and the Alaska burger! Both are excellent! The desert options are fantastic so leave room for one! VictorB

This by far was my favorite meal while in Anchorage. Perfectly cooked, fresh and creative. I was in a group and everyone loved their entrees and apps. The Mama Mia is best bolognese I’ve had anywhere and the salmon is just perfect.

i’m so glad I decided to look up restaurants on the way home from Seward instead of getting back to Amsterdam where everything was probably already closed. I called ahead to this restaurant because we were only gonna have 40 minutes before they close. They said come on in. Salmon was fantastic, also got yummy bimbap bowl and a cider on tap. Insanely beautiful views! Great customer service. Great music playlist for this “hip” millennial. 🤗

My friends and I arrived at Jack Spray after it was closed but the gentleman working allowed us in and let us order rose! It was such a nice gesture and created a fun memory for my friends as I as we were visiting Alaska on vacation! The rose was great and the atmosphere made it all the more magical. It was the perfect stop for a quick drink before exploring more of Girdwood. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the Girdwood area!

Bakery
The Bake Shop is a popular seasonal bakery known for its artistic flair and delicious offerings. For over 40 years, it has been a go-to spot for fresh bread, mouthwatering cinnamon rolls, and various breakfast options such as sourdough pancakes made with historic Alaskan sourdough from the Gold Rush Era.
We went a week ago on our way to Homer. We heard the bakery was good so we decided to try it. It is about 10 minutes off the highway. Head up the road past the mercantile shop on the left ( it is about 3-5 minutes after you see the mercantile- head straight). Where the road tees take a left then a right. The place is an order at the counter and they bring it out. There was a line but it moved quick. Even though it was raining we easily got a seat. We split the egg sandwich. My wife does not like sourdough but she raved about this sandwich. On our way back from Seward today after our Homer stop, 4 days later we went for lunch. We both got a cup of soup and sandwich. We thought half sandwich and cup of soup. But it is cup and whole sandwich. Food was great but we could have split it. Service great. Organization great. Clean and relaxing. Would highly recommend if in the area. The picture is of my wife’s cup and sandwich. Navy bean and pastrami. I got pastrami and mushroom. All good.

The rolls everyone raves about are delicious and massive, but they are not really cinnamon rolls. They resemble a Euro-style egg/yeast bread with some raisins scattered in. The icing is light, lemony even, but not thick or oozy. Even the menu board refers to a Sweet Roll or a bun with butter. We came in thinking we were getting cinnamon rolls, surprise! Nope. But worth trying with a hot beverage. The rest of the menu that we didn’t get to try looks really good, prices decent. Loud, boisterous, energetic place. Servers working hard.

Fantastic breakfast selection!! Most delicious sweet roll ever--like a cinnamon roll but with a few raisins, sliced almonds and a sweet glaze . Super ! And free drop coffee for life if you buy their ceramic mug. Definitely check out this place! I tried to update the hours. They are currently open 8-2 Wed thru Sun

Place looks cute and has good rating but food was extremely sub par. I had the breakfast sandwich and it was the smallest driest sandwich I’ve ever had. 2 pieces of bacon, one egg, and one piece of cheese on a burnt piece of sourdough bread for 16 bucks. Would’ve rather ate gas station sushi for breakfast. Other options looked more appealing there but I wouldn’t recommend eating here

Probably one of the better veggie grilled cheeses ive had. Good coffee too. Recommend!
Danny Y — Google review
I love this place and will continue to support it but I want to point out a few disappointments that (when you have time) to address. #1 - every time I have ordered sourdough pancakes they've been absolutely the most unique ever. Not last Sunday -- they were not very sour tasting and not as fluffy and stretchy as I have always had since 1978 when Werner watched over everything. I made a point to tell a worker about it and a manager heard me and explained that sourdough is temperamental - sometimes stronger than other batches.(I have never found this before) but OK I'll accept that and just hope for a better batch next time. #2 We purchased a loaf of their bread and found that it seemed to have changed recipes or something. It was NOT as airy, yeasty, bubbly as I recall which has always set it apart from anything else locally produced. I do hope that you will read this review and take note. That's it from me. thanks, Pete

I really think that this is a place that everyone who comes to Anchorage needs to check out! The place is definitely a throwback to years gone by and they have mastered the fare they specialize in (just check out the reviews) I ordered the 4 piece Famous Pan-Fried Chicken (and let me tell you the pieces were absolutely gigantic - breast, leg, thigh and wing) cooked to absolute perfection! The fries were salted well and were thin and crunch! and their cornbread that came with it can not be understated... warm and perfect! The Wishbone Buffalo Chicken Salad was extremely fresh and plentiful and more meat than salad - is that even possible??? I honestly could not finish everything as the portions were massive. I regret not trying their milkshakes because they looked absolutely phenomenal as did the floats and I was impressed with the steady flow both in the restaurant and for takeout. There is tons of parking. The serving staff who were predominantly female were great - knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant! I just enjoyed this meal on so many levels! The place is completely old school - maybe from the 80's (and it has character! They also have some really cool apparel! This year is their 75 anniversary and it doesn't surprise me one bit that they have been around that long! They just operate with a pretty simple recipe - good customer service and great burgers, chicken and milkshakes! Would love if they would franchise lol and am definitely looking forward to coming back again the next time I am in town!

Had to drop a star on this one. 6/15/24 Great family atmosphere. The walls tell a story of the passion and love on starting and running a successful business. Great food and service. Shakes are the best around. You have to try their pan Chicken. Will be returning over and over again. Thanks

Fried chicken wings are the best! Fried gizzards were a bit mushy and chewy, not as crisp as I like it. Clam chowder was the bomb. Dumpling soup was okay. The tuna sandwich was extraordinary. Grilled cheese was yummy. This restaurant is definitely worth a try. Also, the worms and dirt milk shake was pretty rad!

Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop is an upscale bakery in the heart of South Addition, one of Anchorage's oldest neighborhoods. The shop offers a wide variety of baked goods, breads, sandwiches, and savory treats that keep locals coming back for more. Using locally sourced produce, the bakery creates unique flavor combinations and even serves a highly acclaimed tofu banh mi sandwich.
This bakery truly delivers on its promise of quality. The pastries were incredibly fresh, and we loved that they use local organic flour and seasonal produce — you can really taste the difference! We tried a scone that was absolutely delicious — not overly sweet, just the right balance, and baked to perfection. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into each item. While it’s a little on the pricey side, the quality and ingredients make it well worth the treat. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates thoughtfully made baked goods!
Ashtravellogs — Google review
Atmosphere – 3 stars The bakeshop has a cozy, rustic vibe but feels a bit cramped, especially when it’s busy—which seems to be most of the time. There are a few tables available, but I found the seating uncomfortable and the cleanliness lacking. There were noticeable crumbs on both the floor and tables, which took away from the overall experience. Service – 3 stars It’s a walk-up counter style setup, and while the staff was polite and moved fairly efficiently, there wasn’t much in terms of personal engagement. I asked if they had white milk, and they looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. After a bit of confusion, they finally figured out what I meant and told me I could get milk from the nearby coffee stand. Not rude, just a little unpolished. Food – 4 stars I got a ham and cheese sandwich that was pretty good—the bread was especially fresh. I also tried a chocolate chip cookie, which was really good. I added a blueberry crème cupcake to the mix—it was tasty, but a little hard to eat since it was chilled and the frosting was firm, almost brittle, and broke apart. Overall, the quality of the baked goods was solid, but the pricing felt a bit steep for what you get. Not sure if I’d go out of my way to return.

Lovely place with very good baked goods. Very good bread, sandwiches, cupcakes, cakes, chowders, you name it. We enjoy everything, too bad we’re leaving town today…. Hopefully we can order online in the future The bakery connects with That Feeling Co, a coffee shop, Johnny’s Produce where you can buy produce or have a smoothie , and La Bodega the wine shop Very convenient. Love this place

This is not just a simple bread shop. They offer hearty loaves, breakfast options, and desserts that actually feel worth it. The sausage and pepper focaccias are great, the breakfast sandwiches are incredible. The pecan and currant bread has a solid balance of sweet and nutty that works perfectly toasted with butter. Fire Island Bakery has a strong presence the moment you step inside. The space is clean, welcoming, and filled with the smell of fresh bread and pastries coming straight out of the ovens. One of the best parts is being able to see the bakers working in the background. Watching the process gives the place a sense of authenticity and you know the food is being made with care. On the sweeter side, the display case is filled with cupcakes and tarts. They are rich without being over the top and each one feels like it has been crafted with intention. Fire Island Bakery delivers consistency and quality across the board. Whether you want something quick with your morning coffee or you are stocking up on bread for the week, it is a spot that wont disappoint.

Kinley's Restaurant & Bar is a chic establishment in Anchorage, Alaska, helmed by the renowned Chef Brett Knipmeyer. The restaurant boasts a modern ambiance and offers an array of New American meat and seafood dishes. With a focus on fresh Alaskan seafood, Kinley's provides a delightful dining experience with its friendly service and expertly prepared cuisine. The menu features innovative creations such as halibut cheeks served with various delectable accompaniments.
The drinks were good. The Arctic Sunset in the champagne flute were not too sweet and the Sweet and Heat was just the right blend of spiciness in a drink. The last drink with dessert was Tequila Mockingbird and it was slightly too much Tequila for me but may be right up the alley of someone else. The entrees were phenomenal. The short ribs with pappardelle flat noodles, crispy parsnips, bok choy, and creamy coconut sauce reminded me of Indonesian rendang. The duck breast with the verde sauce was definitely the best duck I've ever had. The chocolate truffle cake was a ganache, flourless cake. Great for chocolate lovers. The strawberry rhubarb cheesecake was great as a cheesecake but left room for more rhubarb. It felt about only 5% rhubarb. Hands down one of my top 5 best meals in Anchorage. Pricey but worth it once. Great meal for a snowy Spring afternoon.

I started with the fried brie, and it was fantastic. Took most home so I could eat my meal. 2nd, I had the beet salad, was unimpressed - the beets were to be roasted, they tasted canned; too much basil oil- would not get again. Lastly, I got the 1/2 order halibut cheeks over risotto. I highly recommend it! Full of flavor, took most of that home as well. If possible, the leftovers were even better the next day. My husband got the fish and chips, he said the halibut was great. Service was good. We called ahead for a table. They were busy.

The Calamari Steak was a true masterpiece—perfectly pan-seared and topped with a delightful tomato and herb Béarnaise sauce, which paired wonderfully with the garlic bread! The pan-seared Halibut cheeks, lightly dusted and served on a rich pancetta and pea risotto, were also extraordinary. Adding lemon brown butter, fragrant basil oil, and a zesty Balsamic reduction created an incredible flavor explosion with every bite! And let’s not forget the lemon cheesecake—it’s an absolute game-changer in desserts! What an incredible dining experience!

We chose Kinley's for our weekly date night and thoroughly enjoyed it starting with perfectly executed martini's (bartender pictured!)! I had the raw oysters which were deliciously briny and Blake had the Oysters Rockafeller which were decadently perfect. We both had the house salad and mine was topped with the best pan seared piece of halibut I've ever eaten. Blake had the duck with risotto and a medley of veggies and rice. Highly recommend this restaurant for quality and good value.

Very nice restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Everything was very good and I would recommend this place if your ever in Anchorage.

The food was phenomenal. Not sure what else to say. There is a genuine chef and we were served an amazing meal. I do love the food here and it is more than a worthwhile stop when you are in town. To caveat this, I am an Alaskan local. If halibut cheeks are on the menu, I highly recommend.

I like how creative the menu is at kinley's. And the bartenders make good cocktails. The staff is great. I've always had excellent service when going to this restaurant. I've been there with friends, with kids but not very often with kids. I have also headed there for an early dinner before heading home after work. I enjoy the atmosphere. I love their calamari. The halibut cheeks and risotto were delicious!! I also enjoyed the duck! I've never had their burgers but my friend's son got it and he ate the whole burger!! He said it was great! We finished dinner with the pecan torte!! OMG! It was so good. I love how beautiful it was on the plate. Food presentation is excellent at kinley's. If you like that kind of thing. I do. I love how food is displayed. Also I like their French onion soup. I forgot to take a picture of the French onion soup and the calamari.
Ty M — Google review
Great meal, flavors were all spot on. The hummus with the fried pita was very well done. The French onion soup was solid, both the cheeks and almond encrusted halibut were on point. The red sauce really is what took the almond encrusted to the next level. Desert was the truffle cake. Darn good. Could use a little more of the raspberry sauce but really hit the spot with a little coffee.

Tommy's Burger Stop is a vibrant and casual spot located in Anchorage, AK that offers gourmet hamburgers, onion rings, and seasoned fries. The brightly-colored house stands out with its eclectic interior and exterior. Despite its small size, it has garnered a loyal following and is considered a local favorite in midtown. The burgers are described as juicy and flavorful, especially when paired with the Cajun seasoning. Additionally, the homemade fries and onion rings are highlighted for their generous portions and delicious taste.
I got a gunslinger. The burger itself is absolutely amazing. It's juicy and has a ridiculous amount of stuff on it. Mushrooms, onions, bacon, cheese and a ton of other stuff. The burger was so large it was actually difficult to hold. However, it was fantastic to eat. They also serve Gold peak tea, which is nice because I needed to not have a soda. I was also able to get a wonderful garden salad which had fresh bell peppers, mushrooms and crisp lettuce with a sweet vinaigrette that was light and interesting. It added quite a bit of flavor. The atmosphere is filled with geeky things, memorabilia, fan, art and local flora and fauna from Anchorage, Alaska. This was a wonderful place. If you're looking for a burger, this is the place to go. There's a reason it was voted best burger for 20 years.

Good little local burger place, just down from the airport. I had the fish and chips, meh I've had better. Next time I'm getting a burger. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Chill, local, super groovy vibes. The staff is friendly and the food is top notch! We wished we had come here earlier during our week in Anchorage....this place has high Google reviews but was also highly highly recommended by some locals.... listen to everyone....go here....get anything! We had the burger and Fried halibut sandwich and that was the best fish sandwich I have ever put in my face..... the burger was also sooo delicious. The ingredients are fresh and cooked to order. This place is a little unassuming but is so worth the go!

I am a long time customer of Tommy’s and usually I have loved everything about this establishment. The last 2 times I have purchased my favorite (Chicken Philly) there has been barely any meat. I even wrote them on their website and sent an email saying I was disappointed and no one ever even responded. The pics speak for themselves and although I love this place I can’t justify paying this much for what was received.

Loved the inside decor. Such a quaint, vibey place. Unfortunately, when set to order, our server advised they basically ran out of most items we wanted earlier that day. (We were there for lunch). Their tempura in any capacity was bland and tasteless but their carrot lentil soup was delicious and as I said, the decor was nice. All in all I wouldn’t recommend coming unless you’re just hanging out and you ate elsewhere prior.

Restaurant
Turkish Delight is a Mediterranean restaurant that offers a delightful array of Turkish cuisine. From the flavorful Adana Shish Kebab to the classic Doner Kebab, and refreshing Ayran (Salted Yogurt Drink) to authentic Turkish Tea, this place has it all. The menu also features favorites like falafel, baklava, and more.
Went in not particularly hungry but I was wanting to try this place for a while now. I was hoping to try a few new foods because I have never eaten this cuisine before but also planning to take most of it home. Well. . . I genuinely ate every single bite. I think this was one of the most delicious food I have ever tried. And I definitely plan to come back. I added a few photos for reference and caption them with the name for reference (Sorry I ate a bite out of the baklava before I took the picture lol) The servers were very attentive and everything you could ask for. I have never tried this type of food before, so I asked what he would recommend and he very kindly suggested some items and they were perfect. I did notice that the menu offered a lot of insight into potential dietary restrictions if anybody has those including gluten-free , vegetarian and so forth. as well as potential allergy restrictions.

The lady makes me feel loved by being so welcome and generous like grandma. Besides, her food is so good. I had lamb soup and coffee and I tell you this is the best lamb soup I've ever had in my life. I wont forget this taste. I live in ATL so this is my only chance to eat her food. I promise you wont regret to try it. I wish I could have had lentil soup because I think it was so good that it was sold out so quickly by noon!!! This place is phenomenal if you care about food and service, not about the look. If I ever want to go back to Seattle, this is the second biggest reason for me for sure!!!

Would recommend to anyone visiting Anchorage or locals looking for something different. The waitstaff were extremely kind and helpful in recommending dishes. Pizza restaurant
Hearth Artisan Pizza is a popular spot in Anchorage known for its delicious pizzas and pet-friendly outdoor seating area. Tucked away from the busy Northern Lights strip mall, it offers a cool and quiet oasis for diners. The lunch special, featuring a personal pan pizza and side salad for $10, is a great deal. The menu includes tasty vegan options that change seasonally.
Stopped in on a busy Sunday night before Christmas, and despite the holiday rush, Hearth Artisan Pizza delivered an exceptional experience. The restaurant was bustling, but our waiter Aaron was attentive, friendly, and efficient—truly wonderful service. We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. For the mains, we ordered the Margherita pizza and the calzone special. Both were cooked to perfection, even with the crowd. The fresh, high-quality ingredients and the unmistakable flavor from the brick oven made every bite amazing. Hearth Artisan Pizza is a gem, with delicious food, great ambiance, and outstanding service, even on their busiest nights. Highly recommend!

I went to Hearth Artisan Pizza with a group of friends and we sat outside on the patio — they even had heaters, which made it super cozy. The place itself is adorable, and the menu is really unique. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the pizzas were, and the chocolate pudding was absolutely to die for. The service was also excellent — our server was from Montreal and she was so sweet and helpful, which made the experience even better. I’d definitely go back again next time I’m in Anchorage!

Several locals have been recommending this place to me as the best pizza in Anchorage, and I finally gave in and gave them a try. Theys mostly serve simple, straight-forward pizzas, with nothing too. They have a good-looking menu of sides and apps, too. I had the sweet potato pie and brussels sprouts. I'm not a thin crust guy in general, so I'm a little biased, but their crust was decent to me. They're not heavy on the cheese or sauces, which allowed for the other toppings to shine a little bit more. There were big chunks of chicken and a good kick of heat mixed with sweetness. It was a solid pizza and I enjoyed it. The brussels were pretty decent; they could have been crispier, but the bacon jam added a nice flavor. Ordering ahead online was convenient, and my food was ready in 30ish minutes at an early dinner hour. I wouldn't deter anybody from giving this place a try!

Great place for pizza. Being vegetarians we tried the Farmer’s pizza and an exotic one - with Beet pesto sauce ! Both were good. We could watch the Pizza being made freshly and baked in the oven. Would have loved to have some Italian spices like oregano - but to our surprise they did not have ! Super service and reasonable price for the cool ambiance

Okay, super chill, but non of us knew what we were ordering off the menu. We had to guess, and it turned out great! But the food descriptions were a little too fancy for our Alaskan country verse, haha. Great food and staff. It did take over 40 minutes for our pizzas, so just be ready to chat or people watch while you wait!

The name, simply in it's own essence is enough. The pizza served at this establishment is very well done. Scratch the 10 or 15 you might pay somewhere else for something simple, and spend 16-22 ish on something that's made with higher quality products. There isnt a place in town that beats it really. Dont waste your time, check out what Hearth has to offer. *Update! Been here many times after this review and everything has always been spot on. This evening, the Lamb Kebabs and the Pozole was ordered and both were wonderful.

Even just eating here solo at a table, the staff was 10/10 making me feel comfortable and giving great menu recommendations. Like, beet IPA?! Never would’ve tried that without a sampler but it was great. Also, I’m not a vegan, but I ordered their vegan Voodoo Child pizza with hot honey and it was one of the best pizzas ever, vegan or not. Great food, great service, I’ll be back!

Biscuitclub is a restaurant that serves biscuits and eggs as well as coffees and specialty drinks. The biscuits are made at home, and the eggs are great. The atmosphere of the restaurant is creative with colorful tables and decorations streaming down the adjacent hallway for ample seating.
Discovered this hidden gem thanks to a good friend’s recommendation—and I’m so glad I did! Heads up: Google Maps sends you to the wrong spot—it’s actually on the opposite side of Third Street, so keep your eyes peeled. The menu has a great variety, including plenty of vegetarian options, which is always a plus. When you walk in, you place your order and then head over to a cozy seating area across the main space. I grabbed an egg and cheese biscuit to go, and wow—what a treat. The biscuit was freshly baked that morning, and the eggs were cooked over-easy right in front of me. Simple, satisfying, and absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back to try more!

This place serves coffee and biscuit-centric food, see the name. They also have soda by the can and bottled water. Located on the vack lower level of a strip mall-ish city block, they can be a bit difficult to find from the main touristy area, but thankfully, there was. Small sign on the front of the building directing us around back. There is inside seating and picnic benches out under the overhang if you'd like some fresh air. Decent view of a pay parking lot and the water to the north. The food was hot and good, I recommend the biscuits and gravy.
M A — Google review
The biscuits here were delicious. I had the La Bamba, which had green chiles and jalapenos, and was just the right level of spiciness balanced out with the sausage gravy. The location is a bit weird; it’s on the lower level of an old mall building and the interior stairways are blocked off, so you have to walk around to the loading dock area off of 3rd Street to find the main entrance. Seating is dispersed in the old mall hallways and on outdoor picnic tables by the loading dock. However it is well worth hunting down to enjoy the delicious biscuit meals! This place was very crowded and popular, but the staff were friendly and efficient, and I thought gave terrific service!
Benjamin K — Google review
First time here and it's a hole in the wall kind of place. The address on Google says 4th, but signs tell you to walk outside down the stairs to backside where they take orders. But leaving went up elevator and door on the 4th Ave was open, so going in can use elevator, walk past the tables to where the café is set up. They've used old hallway space and set up tables. So that's the environment. I got Benny and the Jets, and hubby got heartbreaker. When they came it looked like... That's it. But we couldn't finish either one, they were very tasty and filling. So if you're hungry this is good comfort food
Rose G — Google review
Oh my gosh, this little establishment was absolutely fantabulous. We were going to our car in a parking lot after doing a little shopping on Main Street. There was a small strip of buildings adjacent to the parking lot and all we could see was the word biscuit… we had been talking about getting a good biscuit as soon as we arrived to Anchorage well this place is A++. The service was excellent. The décor was so inviting friendly and colorful. The staff was soooooo sweet and accommodating!! We loved every part of this BISCUIT CLUB… and did I mention… the BISCUITS…. awesome !!!!! my only disappointment was I did not get a T-shirt because there were none left in my size.☹️ but that just let me know for sure this place is great!!!

Went here while in town with family, what a great place. Several of the in-laws were questionable and turned out to be the best meals while in town. Grant gave great suggestions and changed my wife’s mind on the halibut. The horseradish crusted was delicious and I had the Hunters pie. I love me some shepherds pie and this took it to the next level. Several had the seared ahi and said it was the best ahi they have ever had. Thank you for ending out Alaska trip on a very high note. Cheers!

We were given this restaurant as a recommendation from our bus driver while driving to Anchorage. It turned out to be a great hit! We thought the food was great! We got the halibut and chips, the patty, the crab roll. Omg they were all delicious! Great food, great place to stop in for a bite to eat. Next time o go back to Alaska, will stop in.

First of all Fiona and Catherine were excellent servers at the bar where we sat. We watched them work so hard and be so pleasant. The food was excellent. We had the halibut tacos and the halibut burger and both were great. The place was very busy but had a great vibe. It’s a restaurant and sports bar. It’s not loud so you are able to talk. We were not there when there was live music. We went on a Wednesday night.

People referred me here as a “dive bar,” but I didn’t see anything “dive” about it. Great service and delicious food. I arrived too early for the dinner menu, but the halibut fish and chips were terrific. Highly recommended!

We had the Golden Crab, Crab Roll, Crab Patty Melt, and Caesar Salad — everything was outstanding! Fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. The place is super friendly and absolutely worth recommending!
Maty T — Google review
Gonna start with this... TRY THE CALAMARI! Not sure what sort of crack they put in their seasoning but it was exceptional! On the outside - crunchy! On the inside succulent (only word I can think of!) Even the aioli was spiced perfectly! This was an absolute hit! Ordered the halibut tacos and they were good - maybe a tad underwhelming for me in that halibut is a heavy/fleshy fish and I felt like it could have been seasoned slightly better. It was supposed to be slightly blackened but I didn't taste that. The aioli was OK and the candied jalapenos didn't taste candied! Overall it worked and the portions were excellent! This dish came with multi coloured tortilla chips and salsa which I actually thought were devine! They had a nice saltiness to them that complimented the tacos! The sockeye salmon burger was good but perhaps a touch overcooked. The fries that came with it were good. Service - excellent! The staff that served us was excellent! Tried a beer on their rotational taps which was really good! This place is probably what it is hyped up to be in the evenings with the beer flowing and the food following! With live music - I can not imagine how this place would not be an instant Anchorage favourite!

The Alaska Native Heritage Center offers a comprehensive experience of native culture, featuring exhibits, films, and demonstrations. The center showcases traditional dwellings in a woodland area, constructed with local timbers and adorned with whale bones. Visitors can immerse themselves in the heritage through regular exhibitions, events, performances of local dance, language, and cooking. Located just west of downtown Anchorage, the center hosts workshops and shows ranging from world music gigs to film festivals for indigenous productions.
This is a MUST SEE! I visited with my two teen sons, and they truly enjoyed it. We caught the demonstration of the Eskimo games. You need to see it to understand the level of skill they have. We have been back in NC for a week, and I've seen my son's in our gym trying to do the high kick. They also did a demonstration of a harpoon throw. We tried it but we're not very good. It was a great learning experience. The houses really intrigued me. It was not what I expected. I encourage everyone to visit and learn the history of that region. The walking tour was perfect because our guide shared stories of her region, which was the most northern area. Each guide is from a different area. We saw the dancers, and it was nice to hear songs in their native language as some of the regional languages have been lost due to colonization. They offer military and senior discounts.
Kimberly G — Google review
The museum is small but full of knowledge in an interactive way. I think our favourite part was talking to the crafters in the lobby. Each had wonderful stories about their projects that helped me learn about their lives in the north. We loved chatting with Marg the elder. We also saw different types of lodgings and a traditional dance. That all and Marg best of luck from your two Canadian friend in you wedding.

We had my daughter’s quinceanera here and it was just so amazing. Everyone had such a good time and they opened the back for the quests to walk around. From start to finish the entire staff was amazing and made this a memorable event. The event was such a success we now have people asking about points of contacts and pricing. If you are looking into places to host your special event don’t pass up your opportunity to have it here.

There is a free shuttle from the downtown log cabin. $30 entry and the attendants were very helpful explaining the tools and building as you walk through them. The free shows are nice to watch as well. Plan for around 1.5-2 hrs here.

Had a wonderful time learning about the native culture. It is a great place to learn about the culture and unfortunately what was done to stifle it in the past. The demonstration of the native games and dance was great. The tour of the various types of dwellings that were built across such a wide range of climate and conditions was enlightening. Shout to to Zach our guide who was not only very knowledgeable but super entertaining as well. I highly recommend a stop here.

If you are seriously interested in learning about Alaska, you just visit this center. The gallery about the various people groups is fascinating along with a timeline of settlement of the territories. The hard truths are presented well to make us all think and reflect. There are informative films and demonstrations in the main building that were very educational. I highly recommend taking a guided tour of the various areas so you can learn as much as possible about the various settlements and ways of life.

Awesome cultural experience, they have multiple native experiences such as story telling, songs, and dances by natives, so much info on the local tribes and history. Great place to visit and learn about the real alaska from the people who know best, many local craft options for sale as well.

Our travel agent booked us a tour here on Monday the 12th, but when we arrived, we found out that the center wasn’t open for the season quite yet 😅 … Despite the communication error from our travel agency, Mark (I believe his name was) offered to take us around their exhibits— which was more than generous! We greatly appreciated being able to see the dwellings of each tribe of Alaskan natives along with Mark’s detailed lectures of their history. I highly recommend 👍

Amazing service, Zoe was amazing. Food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, as were the wine options. Pork chop was phenomenal and my friends said the chicken was juicy and the lamb was the best he’s ever had. Highly recommend.

Delicious food, the roasted duck was cooked perfectly. Large array of drink options ranging from craft cocktails, a multitude of wines and homemade mocktails. The restaurant can get busy later in the evening, so wait times for food can be long. Food was presented well and tasted great. Reasonably priced for the quality of the dishes.

We randomly walked into this cozy restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Every dish was delicious, and the waitstaff were incredibly friendly. We had a wonderful evening here. Thank you ❤️

I always try to leave the review I wish others would write! First of all - this is by far the best restaurant we ate at in Anchorage and honestly one of the best we’ve had, and we are big foodies. That being said, we rated the service low because although our waitress was attentive and incredible it took 3 hours total from start to finish. Appetizers -*Oysters baked - oh my gosh probably the best ones we have had and we live on the coast! -Ravioli was creamy and delicious -Goddess salad was also very delicious Meals *-The salmon special was excellent. The flavors were incredible. One of the best salmon entrees we’ve ever had. It came on top of Parmesan risotto. There was a poached egg on top (which was delivered later kind of taking away from the overall presentation). Overall an amazing dish. -The prime rib entree was good but wouldn’t say it stood out when compared to the fish entree. Dessert They were out of baked Alaska so we got the crème brûlée and the chocolate graham cracker dessert. They were both delicious. Overall great experience. Only suggestion is that the restaurant could certainly benefit from some improved efficiency to decrease the length of stay for customers.

The place is nice and the staff too. Unfortunately there weren't many vegan options. There was a chance to make a couple of dishes vegetarian but no vegan option on the menu. Nevertheless the time I spent there was nice and even if they were very busy the staff was nice and helpful. The dishes looked tasty and elegantly plated some even artistic. They definitely have a proper Chef there. I'd hope in the future they'll have a couple of vegan options. for what I've seen the chef seems very capable to amaze us all.

We were recommended a visit to Crush by a local and looked forward to dining there during our one night in Anchorage last Thursday. While we were seated promptly and the drinks were great, our dinner took over an hour to arrive without communication from our server. When we finally asked for our salad first or crackers to tide over our hungry teen (after 55 minutes), we were denied both, told the kitchen was slammed and that they would get our meal out to us asap. Dishes trickled out over 20-25 minutes, meaning we couldn’t eat together. The food was delicious, but the service was disjointed and disappointing. Despite the server’s apology and mention of possibly comping items, nothing was removed from our bill. When we asked about it thinking she maybe forgot she had said that, first she came back with no, there’s nothing she can do. We told her how disappointing that was under the circumstances, and she said she understood. She then came back again and offered to comp a 3rd dessert - odd, since we didn’t need it and had already paid for two. It felt like a missed opportunity to turn a frustrating experience into a positive one. The bill was over $200 so choosing not to comp a glass of wine or a dessert that would have cost them $5 or 6 (if even) is just bad business. We had planned to buy a bottle of red to bring back to the hotel room. The tip was cut in half and the $20 they would have made on the wine sale forfeited...all for what exactly? Lost $, this bad review, and no future recommendation from us. In conclusion, we were confused and disappointed by the lack of hospitality. Would not recommend.

The food is delicious and the wine list is curated. Modern cuisine that take the best of every food culture. Fantastic vegan options. The staff is kind and prepared, particularly Rob, the owner, and Paula.

Arctic Roadrunner is a classic joint in Anchorage that offers a variety of burgers, sandwiches, sides, and hand-dipped shakes. The restaurant's interior is filled with local history, creating a nostalgic atmosphere for diners. There's also an outdoor dining area where you can enjoy your meal by a babbling brook. The place has become popular among families and even allows well-behaved dogs inside.
The food and milkshakes were good! Attention to detail to make sure the order was correct was great. They put your milkshake in a cooler once made, until your order is ready. The restaurant was cool inside and had a nice view of the stream by the window, or you could sit outside by the stream. Just a note, as mentioned. Cash only!

I visited here twice during a week long stay in Anchorage. First I had a halibut sandwich with a huge unsweetened tea(😍 was thrilled to have fresh brewed unsweet tea) and on my 2nd visit I had a bacon burger. Both of the sandwiches were good. The burger was sizable, I finished the second half the next day. Service was faster than expected from the given times when ordering online. They were VERY busy, but the staff clearly functioned well. Getting in and out of the parking lot with a left turn (in or out) is dicey - beware. A bit loud inside during the brief time I was there. Maybe quieter at tables further from the entrance.

This place is a Landmark in Anchorage. We’ve been coming here for decades. The atmosphere represents a lot of what Alaska is all about. It’s always great to look around at all the many pictures and other neat things. The food is consistently great too with lots of choices.. A must visit place for local folks and visitors alike. It is in a convenient location and not far from the airport.

The guy at Pablo‘s bike shop recommended it we asked for a local place. This hit the vibe. Super chill order at the counter. Awesome burgers. I recommend the homemade onion pieces. Sits right on a small waterway. You can sit outside if you want or inside and still see the water going by you. Special shout out to the young lady that served us. My husband has celiac and she was very accommodating.

Great place to come as a family. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek! Also, be sure to try the blackberry shake! Be sure to bring cash, because no credit or debit cards are accepted.

If you are from Anchorage, odds are you have been here. If you are visiting, it is a perfect first stop. This classic Alaskan history heavy, burger stop has arguably the best burgers in town only to be rivaled by their milkshakes and atmosphere. The rustic interfering has more history than some museums and a beautiful creek view. If you are new and want the full experience I would highly recommend a burger, a milkshake and the house made onion petals. Just know this is an all cash establishment.

I absolutely adore Arctic Roadrunner—it’s classic Anchorage dining done right! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with cozy Alaska charm: wood-beamed walls, quirky local photos, and a laid-back, welcoming vibe. Joe and I both had the Arctic Cheeseburger with fries and their famous onion pieces—and wow. The burgers were juicy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor, and those onion pieces are completely addictive—crispy, savory, and unlike any onion ring I’ve ever had. The fries were hot, golden, and the perfect sidekick. I also love their self-serve condiment bar so you can make your burger exactly how you like it. Even without the fireplace on, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the friendly staff made the experience even better. If you’re looking for a classic Alaska burger joint with personality, history, and seriously good food—Arctic Roadrunner is it. We’ll definitely be back!

CASH ONLY. Rustic, "authentic" Alaska experience. Place is covered in pictures of longtime Alaskans who frequented the place... And of their exploits. CASH ONLY. Strange place, but charming. And not inexpensive. Two sandwiches, one drink, one fry, and two extra small milkshakes almost cost 50 bucks. Did I mention CASH ONLY?

If you're on the hunt for a cozy dining spot that serves up mouthwatering Italian cuisine, look no further than Pizza Man. This family-friendly eatery is renowned for its handcrafted pizzas and an array of other delicious dishes, including sandwiches and pasta. With a delightful 30-item salad bar and an impressive selection of 24 draft beers, there's something to please every palate.
Been going to pizza man my whole life. Had some ups and downs in the past and haven’t dined there in a while. Today I ordered delivery and everything was amazing. The person I spoke to on the phone was polite and informative, the delivery driver was kind and the food was better than expected. Pizza was just like I remembered as a kid (amazing), dressings and sauces tasted delicious and FRESH, salad was jam packed with toppings. All and all I was pleasantly surprised this evening with my to go order. Everything was hot and fresh when delivered and everything was full and loaded! I will most definitely be making a more regular appearance. (Both photos I have already eaten from. I had to pause to take pictures because it was so good.)

ordered food at 6:30pm, was told that there was a 30-40 minute wait, i certainly did not expect that my food was still not going to be ready at 9pm. I hear someone who seems to be the cook say « I made that order at some point » . when i got home my food was very cold and my salad and au jus dip was missing. went there many times but that is certainly my last time.

I have been going here for years. Excellent Pizza, probably the best I have had. Top 5 pizza in the world. I ordered a half Chicken Bacon Ranch, Half Spicy Hot. I added extra mozzarella. Great pizza. Pricy but great. Did you know you can order any of the pizzas in a sandwhich? Well you can! Dining in gives you a nostalgic feeling. There is always a wait time, so have a snack before or take advantage of there 1 trip salad bar. If you want the pizza faster just pick it up. Great service. Thank you.

We had an excellent dining experience here. Our waitress, Marlys, was the best! We told her what we liked and she ordered it up perfectly. I had a bacon chicken ranch calzone and could’ve invited three friends and it would’ve been plenty for us. It tasted wonderful! My husband ordered a small (basically meat lovers) pizza and devoured all but two pieces. So basically, our dinner price included an entire second meal for us. They had a nice choice of beers and ciders and again, Marlys knew exactly what we’d like. If we ever visit Anchorage again, we will be back!

New Review “We were visiting family from Fl and got Pizza Man’s pizza to go. This restaurant has been in Eagle River since I was in H.S. at Chugiak HS. This place has been a go to place since then. I was so hungry I almost forgot to take pictures of these delicious pies. As you can see inside the boxes these pies are not greasy at all. The pies were fresh and tasted excellent.” And while your their you might as well go next door to Ice Cream Man and get you some great ice cream. This is the time if the server says would you like desserts you say yes and go get. Picked up a late night pizza and it was cooked in a timely manner and this place has been in Eagle River for as long as I can remember and they do pizza right.

We were seated quickly and ordered an appetizer while waiting for the 4th person in our party. Where we were seated, the place did not appear busy but there may have been other seating areas. Wait staffer came back to get the food order after some time, 2 pizzas and a sandwich in addition to the appetizer ordered earlier. Our beverages came, no appetizer. After approx 20 minutes, we caught her going by and asked about the order. At that point we asked that the appetizer be cancelled and wanted to know how long before the rest would be ready, because we were headed to the airport for our flight. She came back from the kitchen and told us the appetizer was cancelled and the pizzas would be a few minutes. I asked about the sandwich, she flipped her order pad and went back to the kitchen. I don't know what happened at this point. No explanation, not sure if she had turned it all in. My sandwich was very good, however I feel fortunate to have gotten it. The others said the pizzas were good. The staff serving the beverage reorder to our table was attentive. Lots of thoughts about our wait staffer's make up and attire that evening, but I don't want to go there.

Went in last week while in Alaska, had decent reviews so thoughtI would give it a shot. Off the main road kina out of sight, if you are not from the area use your gps. Walked in and there were a few people in front but was seated quick. Is an older place and a bit dated inside but keep an open mind. Thats the only rwason for not having a 5 star rating Had a large sausage. Damn good pizza hand tossed crust! No ready made crust here. Service was good pizza was great. If in the Anchorage area give it a shot !

Unfortunately this is the only independent pizza place in ER. They are terribly inconsistent. Sometimes super doughy. They messed up 3 of my last four orders. They genuinely don’t care. The manager got aggressive last time when we pointed out we were brought the wrong pizza. This last time was the final straw when they tried to charge me $10 more than there posted prices for our total order. $18 for a small pizza seems excessive for an undercooked doughy pizza. To bAd this town could really use a pizza place that cared about is product and the customers. I guess pizza will be a special occasion food for me now when I’m in Anchorage or the valley. The bathrooms are also gross and unclean.

Midnight Sun Brewing Company is a small craft brewery located in Anchorage, Alaska. The brewery offers weekly tours, a tasting room, and a full restaurant serving hearty comfort food. Known for creating world-famous barrel-aged stouts and barley wines suited for Alaska's cold temperatures and extended darkness, the brewery has become a symbol of brewing excellence in the area.
Had a great time here. Great selection of beers. Food was delicious and large portion sizes. I had the Mediterranean Melt. Wish the chips were housemade but still good. They didn’t have any gluten free beers for my friend, but plenty of cocktails and other drinks.

Hubby and I stopped in for a late lunch. Hostess was super friendly, waitress was not. We were really looking forward to the sweet cheeks sandwich, which we both ordered, with the pretzel for an appetizer. Never received the pretzel and although our sandwiches came in record time they were some of the worst pulled pork sandwiches we’ve ever had. Bread was stale and there was way too much of it compared to the amount of meat. He ended up eating his open faced, and I cut off half of one bun. Pork was dry and flavorless, and there wasn’t nearly enough sauce. We were both really hungry when we got there and that made it all the more disappointing. He also ordered the pleasure town IPA, which he did not enjoy.

I started working in Alaska a year ago and Midnight Sun was the first place I ate and the first Alaskan beer I tried. I also tried many other restaurants and breweries in the area, but Midnight Sun has become my favorite for food or beer. Their daily food specials are always amazing, and I love how they have a great variety of beers to drink (and they never disappoint). I highly recommend this place and cannot wait until I can show this place to friends and family when they visit.

My rating is service and beverage based. We did not eat. Service was very friendly and attentive. Beer sampler was tasty. The root beer was delicious.

2023.06.27 - Being from Houston, TX, I found the Greek Tacos that I ordered to be juicy and tangy. The Mountain Sandwich was huge and should be eaten in two sittings, see picture. The pretzels we ordered were soft and warm. The 2 sauces with the pretzels were perfect; a cheesy butter and a beer base butter. Delicious. Our waitress was spunky and polite.

Midnight, sun has easy earned a seat at the top 10 breweries in Alaska They are brewery that is not afraid to take chances on stouts and various beers that are fantastic. I love it when breweries take a chance on various beers! Overall for a IPAs I would recommend the puffin, PleasureTown and, of course, the infamous panty peeler! The atmosphere was very relaxing, and they have outside seating as well! The menu was fantastic with some great choices and staff was helpful was well!

The IPA was good, but the ambiance and service were a bit disappointing. The place looked closed when I parked but saw a few people walking so decided to follow them. I'm glad that it was open but was a bit taken aback when I saw several kids in there. I'm not sure if they were prepping for any event, but one of the bartenders seemed a bit distracted, and the other one was running around trying to finish up chores. The rooftop wasn't as impressive as some of the other breweries in the area either.

Girdwood Brewing Company is a must-visit spot located about a 30-40 minute drive from Anchorage, nestled in the southern municipality of Anchorage. It has become a favorite stop for hikers exploring Girdwood. The brewery offers an array of craft beers, with favorites like the Hippy Speedball Oatmeal Coffee Stout and No Woman No CRYO NEPA. While they don't serve food on-site, they host various food trucks on a rotating schedule.
Loved this spot at the base of Alyeska Ski Resort! Jammed with ski bunnies this craft brewery has some great beers on taps for even the most discerning palettes! Lots of places to sit down and enjoy the many beers they have on tap! The place is very clean and they have food trucks outside if you have the munchies (tried HIGH FIVE HAND PIES - it was their first day and it was pretty good!) Staff are friendly and are pretty chill and get their crowd! A popular beer here was their FUNKBERRY PIE! Tried a flight here with the following: NO WOMAN NO CRYO FUNKBERRY PIE DOWN THE CHUTE HIPPY SPEED BALL Each of them were pretty good! On a side note - they have really cool apparel (which is a bit pricey but thats to be expected). The place has plenty of parking and off the Seward Highway (which is pretty breathtaking). All in all and really awesome experience that everyone should experience!

Girdwood Brewing Company delivers the atmosphere, ambiance, and of course the alcohol! The Malty Amber is well worth the scenic trip to experience and best enjoyed with friends!

Girdwood Brewing Company was a chill place with local vibes. Surrounded by mountain ranges and convenient to the airport, downtown, resort and river, it’s a place that welcomes both locals and new adventurers. The beer was crisp and cold and the staff were eager to give suggestions. The firepit located around the front and side of the building were inviting, even on a late July evening. Food trucks offered delectable meals or snacks that hit the spot after a long day of exploring this beautiful Alaskan town. The brewery is decorated with skis and natural wood that lends itself to a ski lodge vibe. We truly enjoyed our time there and plan to visit again tomorrow. Cheers to the staff and locals that were generous enough to share this experience with us.

Stopped in here while waiting to check into our hotel room. I'm so glad we did. We had a blast at the bar. The blueberry ale is probably the best beer I've ever had. The pub pretzel was perfect, and the bartender was so much fun. They also had trivia going and good music playing. I would definitely recommend it!

One of my two favorite restaurants when I am in Anchorage. Excellent beer menu, excellent food menu. Attentive, quick service from knowledgeable staff. Try the Prime Rib Dip...it's unusual, and out of this world. Food prices are a tad high...but you also get what you pay for, so don't let it scare you off. 10/10 highly recommend.

This Matanuska Brewing's outpost feels more like a lively sports bar than a traditional brewery. The space is large and bustling, perfect for catching a game with friends. The extensive food menu and massive tap list cater to a variety of tastes. During our visit, we noticed that the beers leaned towards the sweeter side, including the Deep Powder Porter. However, the standout for us was the Red Zepplin Red Ale, which balanced the sweetness nicely. If you're looking for a spot with a sports bar atmosphere and a wide selection of food and drink, Matanuska Brewing's outpost is worth a visit.

Most of the reviews for this brewery are misleading, most of the food options listed aren’t on the menu-albeit a special menu or seasonal options. I enjoyed the Alaskan cod fish tacos and my husband-the prime rib dip, both were fantastic! The fish tacos seemed to be deep fried to add a crisply element to the dish-it is a grand slam! The prime rib dip is packed full of beef and reminiscent of a calzone. Packed full of flavor-we weren’t disappointed!

Good atmosphere, good music, and good food. Went there for the first time for dinner it was a Sunday. I was starving so I ordered a lot of food! They have your take on American classics and more. I love the Cajun dry rub wings! I also got the French onion soup the chicken Caesar and the Salisbury steak and we got the black and blue burger. For dessert we got the lemon raspberry beignets. Oh dessert was awesome!! For $8 it feeds so many!! Appetizer and dinner portions are very big. I was so hungry we forgot to take pictures of the soup and the salad. Lol
