Udon noodle restaurant
Azuki is a small Japanese eatery located in Seattle, known for its handmade udon noodles and flavorful noodle soups. The signature beef noodle soup is a standout dish, featuring an umami-rich broth made with anchovies, dashi, mushrooms, and vegetables. The dish also includes handmade udon noodles and various toppings like raw onions, pickled mustard greens, and burdock roots.
I got this egg based noodle dish and the portion size, presentation, and quality absolutely passed my expectations. The workers were so kind and helped me decide what to get and you get a steamed egg appetizer that's infused in this umami broth that gave me the coziest vibe. They also have tea available on the house. I am definitely going to come back to try more of their dishes!

Delicious!!! Generous portions, friendly and helpful staff, and incredibly tasty food. I wish I lived here so I could come back every day! Do yourself a favor and get the garlic pork udon and saba sushi asap. Edit: I forgot to say: Get a sake or sip some tea while you wait. The chef is making everything with care, and you can definitely taste the love. It's worth every second!

Shio Yuzu was good, but the Niku one was just okay. Portion was huge though, and noodle texture was great! It would’ve been an overall enjoyable meal, but there are SO many flies in the restaurant, it was kind of gross :( I’d be back if they fix the fly issue!
Milennalim — Google review
One of my favourite restaurants in the city. Great people and vibes. Absolutely delicious food! I had the veggies akikage and yuzu shio chicken ramen and the portions are so big I had ramen for lunch the next day! Really a special gem. We're so lucky to have them.
Michi V — Google review
Food was really good, one of my favorite noodle places I've tried in Seattle On the pricier side but the noodles are handmade and the portion was really large
Agupta2450 — Google review
Great noodle, vegetable tempura, and sashimi don! We ordered the Sanuki Combo, Niki (beef) Udon, and begin tempura! They are delicious! Hand made noodles, sashimi is fresh!
Shu-Jane C — Google review
The absolute best udon house! I don't get udon anywhere else in Seattle. Highest quality hand-made udon, the freshest ingredients, incredible soup, no fillers. Excellent vegetarian/vegan options.
Wei — Google review
Expensive but is delicious. I wish it was easy to tell on their website what some of the dishes are. I like the sides more than some of the udons. Wish the place had better furniture and ambiance. It can get quite uncomfortable.

Japanese restaurant
Onibaba by Tsukushinbo is a hidden gem in Seattle's international district, known for its traditional Japanese cuisine. The restaurant offers familiar sushi rolls, hot Japanese dishes like shoyu ramen and gyoza, and specials served at the sushi bar. Owned by siblings Marin and Shota Caccam, the restaurant upholds tradition with its sushi, ramen, and izakaya offerings.
Hidden gem! Everything we ordered was great, can’t go wrong with anything on menu, much better taste than some of those fancy shiny new Japanese restaurants. The only downside it’s a little bit worn out, tables and chairs for example, so take off one star from atmosphere
Jake — Google review
I wanted to find a Japanese place that is not just sushi or ramen or udon. I needed a typical Washoku(和食) style restaurant that serves varietes of menus. And this was it. -Udon was simple but had great texture noodle with savory enough slightly sweet flavored soup. Personally 8 out of 10. -Ochazuke was great mainly cause I really loved how its base broth was. It had very lightly savory flavor, which I imagined it being anchovy dashi? It was also great that there were many variations for how you can customize your ochazuke. -Saba Shio wasn’t really great. Saba means mackerel and shio means salt. But I couldn’t taste any seasoning from the grilled fish, not even salt really, or maybe just too little was there. -Yaki Onigiri with butter soy sauce on the top was amazing. Butter and soy sauce combined is one of my fav sauce and it glazed on the top of grilled riceball? Can’t ever go wrong for me. Would love to visit again but not sure how soon and how often cause even for 1pm lunch time, I had to wait for a half-hour. And other reviews indicate that waiting line for dinner time is also pretty bad. And I really really hate waiting on line. This place doesn’t seem to accept any reservations either, so too bad.
J K — Google review
i really want to gatekeep this place, it’s THAT good. but alas, everyone’s super nice and everything we had was so so delicious so they more than deserve the business! saba shio was perfection, the curry udon is rich and comforting with a bit of heat, and my partner’s unagi don was out of this world. Compliments to the Chef, we had a great meal, thank you guys!
Dina Y — Google review
Loved this place. Really small spot with limited seating and hours. That said, some of the best Japanese food of its kind (and my wife is Japanese). The staff was really sweet and accommodating. Not really any downside to this place. They don’t have any toddler/baby high chairs, which was fine for us with our little one. We just held her. We will definitely recommend and be back. We ordered: Onigiri Unagi Cheese, Mokaido Cod Special, Onogiri Shrimp Tempura (Honey Mayo), Cheesy rice ball, Udon, Domburi
Geoffrey H — Google review
Tucked away in the Seattle international district lies Onibaba- a fantastic Japanese food and drink experience that exudes authenticity. Menu has alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices to start with a wide range of choices. The Lychee soda and Lychee Oolong tea are both fantastic non-alcoholic choices. They have beer and saki available as well. For food you really cannot go wrong. We had the edamame and gyoza along with California onigiri to start. All of which were excellent. For mains we had the Katsu Curry, Piri Kara Buta Bara Don, Mini Su Udon, Karaage Salad all of which were excellent and highly recommend. Portions are ample- you will not leave hungry! Service staff is helpful food was delicious. Wife approved! Place is small do make reservations if possible- otherwise wait will appraise 30-35 minutes. Very off the beaten path but extra worth it.
Tom L — Google review
This has to be one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Seattle! I lived in Japan for 5 years, and the quality of the onigiri here is incredible. They’re super generous with the toppings no matter when I go (price is good even for college students like me) and the flavors are very authentic. This place never disappoints!!! I always bring friends and they’ve all loved it too!
Michelle L — Google review
Special mentaiko onigiri: like the one in NYC more, but love the cheese + mentaiko combination. Cheese does get cold fast Tori karaage: not a fan, it was either too citrusy or salty and I can’t tell which one is it. Batter is good tho Environment: limited space and gets busy. I recommend coming right when they open
Athena L — Google review
Short 10min wait outside late on a Sunday evening. The ochazuke was delicious, but expensive for what it was, which is essentially rice and tea. I wasn't a huge fan of the spicy salmon onigiri as the scallions (?) were overwhelming. Everything was good quality though. Enjoyed the meal, but I think only worth visiting once for me

King Noodle is a cozy spot in Seattle, offering customizable noodle soups and other Chinese dishes. The Filipino-inspired pancit, featuring fine rice noodles stir-fried with calamansi-flavored soy sauce, carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, shrimp, and pork, is a must-try. The restaurant has garnered an impressive 4.3 rating for its excellent customer service and affordable prices. Visitors praise the delicious food options and generous portions.
Awesome little spot to get amazing, authentic noodles and dumplings. The noodle bowls are enormous, more than enough for a meal for any person. Very cozy inside, but a great experience. They do not accept Amex cards, only Visa and Mastercard.

cute little spot to get some homie Hong Kong noodles. the portions were huge, well worth the money. the claypot rice also looks good, i would come back to try it next time!
Hailey — Google review
Would give this place a 3/5 stars mediocre ramen with really questionable service. I walked in and the cook stared at me funny which is nice and welcoming for somewhere i’d be spending my money at. I ordered hot tea and received iced tea while specifically circling the hot option on the menu system. But hey at least their potstickers are thick and stuffed with meat so that’s a plus. Would not recommend it tho.
Beezy — Google review
So good! I ate here 3 days in a row on my recent visit to Seattle. Tried a different combination every time and loved each one. It is definitely going to be my regular spot every time I’m in Seattle!
Michelle J — Google review
NOT VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY My school was on a field trip and we wanted to stop for lunch, so our teacher chose King Noodle. I walked in and saw that the food safety inspection was "Okay" and that made me wonder if the food would get me sick! As my vegetarian friends and I looked at the menu, we could see almost no vegetarian options and resorted to plain rice noodles. Our water was delivered quickly and the server was great, except they could not give me plain rice noodles! I ended up having to order rice noodles WITH bone broth which I was very unhappy with. It tasted fine though. It was unclear to me if the spicy broth was vegetarian or not, but one of my friends ordered it. My other vegetarian friend ended up ordering nothing because it was overwhelming to find vegetarian options. My other non vegetarian classmates said the dumplings were so good though, and that there were lots of options. Even worse (which is why I'm giving 2 stars not 3) I saw no signs of advertising that their meat was ethically sourced, which means it was probably factory farmed! 😭 I highly do NOT recommend this place for anyone who is vegetarian or vegan unless you don't mind bone broth. I also did not get food poisoning, but I was uncomfortable about the food safety inspection. 😬
Myla — Google review
Happened by chance to eat here. Little hole in the wall place. Food was great, dumplings were excellent.
JOE A — Google review
My friend took me here because she swore it was her favorite noodle place in Seattle. And boy, it did not disappoint. I ordered, the pork and vegetable dumplings which were alright. And the beef Sichuan noodles (spicy). I normally enjoy a medium spice level but sheesh was this spicy (in the best way!). The broth was rich and spicy. So good that I ignored the spice and had to finish the bowl. I'm not a very big eater and I'd suggest sharing if you have the option. I did enjoy the fact that you can select a few toppings to customize your soup. Will be back again!
Erika L — Google review
I have been eating at this place for quite some years, and I am glad they survived the pandemic. They offer noodle with customizable options, which is a rare find. The price is very reasonable, the portions are generous. The owner doesn't talk much, but his service is impeccable. I am not sure why some reviewers complained about the service, which has never been a problem for me. And I visited this place a lot.

Udon noodle restaurant

Cold noodle restaurant
Udon noodle restaurant U:Don offers housemade udon noodles in both soups and just lightly sauced forms with mostly classic toppings like a slab of fried tofu. There are two locations - one near the University of Washington in the U District, and another in Capitol Hill's 12th Avenue Arts building. The U District location is frequented by students, while the Capitol Hill location has a more mellow vibe.
I’ve had a great experience here every time! The salmon cream udon is great! I really enjoyed the flavor. The broth was really creamy and thick, almost like a gravy, so it was really heavy and filling. The kimchi miso special udon was also great. I also love how big the menu is so I can always get something different.
Caroline H — Google review
Honestly we just went there because Danbo Ramen was full and there was a huge waiting line but this place did not disappoint at all! It serves Udon style noodles with various flavors and has ample sitting space. All 3 of us got the large bowls and they were very filling.
Anupam S — Google review
I got the small bowl and my partner got the large. I would say the small plus some tempura was more than enough food for me (and I’m a small but active person who generally eats a lot). The noodles were also perfectly bouncy and chewy. Very impressed with the quality, especially with how fast everything came together.
Jane Y — Google review
Hungry for udon noodle soup, udon with curry or a rice bowl? Try U:Don Fresh in the Capitol Hill area, Seattle's Greenwich Village neighborhood just east of downtown. It's within walking distance but be prepared to walk up steep hills from downtown or take a bus, rent a scooter or ride the light rail. The noodles are made fresh in-house and you can customize your udon or rice bowl. Plus, there are add-on options like tempura, karaage chicken, gyoza, etc. Add a beverage and you'll need more than an Andrew Jackson to pay your tab. At least cash is accepted - thank you! Fresh ingredients, decent broth, especially curry, Donkatsu quality not the greatest but ok, noodles al dente, gyoza & karaage chicken overcooked; clean, modern, spacious interior; friendly service; paid street parking; always watch your back in Cap Hill due to high crime & drug addict homeless zombies roaming the hood. Support your local small businesses & restaurants.
John K — Google review
Honestly I really wanted to love this place. I was expecting to get hot noodles. But I got cold noodles. I wish the server would have helped me out. The taste was underwhelming and I won’t be coming back. Going to go with a $20 pack of 30 indomies off of Amazon.com and adding some eggs and seaweed instead😋😋😋
May F — Google review
U:Don is a traditional udon shop where you can order your noodles separately and pick out the different pieces of tempura that you like a la carte. We ordered the zaru (cold) udon and (hot) niku udon. For tempura we got the karaage, green beans, potato croquette, and shrimp. The udon both come with a side of ginger, wasabi, and green onion. You can request more for a potential extra surcharge. The hot niku udon was easily the best. The meat was sliced thin and soaked up the flavor of the broth wonderfully. The cold dipping broth for the zaru soba wasn't bad, but wasn't the best that I've had. The udon noodles themselves were chewy and cooked perfectly. All of the tempura were amazing. My personal favorites were the shrimp and potato croquette which had tiny pieces of sweet corn that added a great pop of sweetness. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my visit to U:Don. The prices are pretty affordable while the portion sizes are still fairly large. Combined with the fact that you can select your favorite tempura a la carte makes U:Don a stable spot in my book.
Victor C — Google review
Good freshly made udon. Can be made vegan upon request. It's a bit difficult to decide on your type of udon and toppings. It would help to get a bit more guidance or ready made options. You can eat there but it's more of a fast food type and it's self service.
Lorene F — Google review
This place only offers takeout from 2:00 to 4:30 PM on weekdays, but they don’t mention that on Google Maps—only a small note on the door. It was really frustrating to drive all the way here just to find out I couldn’t dine in. Also, parking is street-only and paid.

Modern izakaya restaurant
Tamari Bar is a trendy space with an industrial-chic vibe that specializes in Japanese drinking snacks, street food, and cocktails. The menu features a variety of delicious options such as salmon belly chirashi with miso sauce and ikura, pork dumplings with black garlic oil, soft serve with matcha syrup, and marinated wagyu for self-cooking on a hot rock. It's known for its high-energy atmosphere, making it a great spot for both fantastic Japanese food and lively gatherings.
Lives up to the hype - every dish was top notch & crave-able. Super flavorful curry & sauces - each bite well balanced AND packing a punch. We had 7 items on the Happy Hour menu - our top 3: 206 Curry, Nanban Popcorn Chicken, Bao (pork belly & soft-shell crab). Fair prices & excellent service - observant, efficient, and kind. Highly recommend.
Jennifer L — Google review
After reading this menu, and seeing all of the unique items, we were very excited to try it out. The crispy Chinese doughnuts with the curry sauce really caught my eye, and it didn't turn out how I expected - but that could be what I had in mind. I wasn't expecting them to be overly sweet, but any means, but these really didn't have that element at all. Essentially it was like a fried bread for your curry, which was absolutely delicious. So I'm glad the waitress suggested we get the side order since we were getting that fantastic curry anyway. We also really enjoyed the NORI-SHIO FRITZ with the sriracha and honey mustard aioli 😋. The restaurant has a great vibe and cool esthetic with friendly staff. Be different and try someplace new.
Chase H — Google review
Came here for late night happy hour. It was a really good experience. We had several bites and drinks. Karage was done very well. The different types of popcorn chicken were enjoyable. The chirashi bowl was quite good but the cuts of sashimi were smaller than what I've typically seen at other places. The sushi roll wasn't bad at all. Overall, it was a fun a good experience.
Jerry D — Google review
Wow this place is definately worth a try! I stopped in with a group of friends and ordered a sampler from their appetizers (mix of sashimi, crab cakes, and veg options) their spicy ramen and two sushi rolls and they were all excellent. I’d highlight recommend sharing a few dishes family style to try their various menu items - they even brought out multiple bowls for us to share the ramen. Great service and experience overall!
Jessica R — Google review
Food is varied and delicious. I loved everything we got. The menu is not extensive but it has a lot of different stuff and I felt like we had a broad variety of types of food which I loved—sushi, fried chicken, steak bites, noodles, and veggies. Preparations were interesting and high quality, but not fancy just really tasty. Definitely a fun and relaxed dining experience. The chair was not very comfortable. Upgrading the furniture just a bit seems like an easy opportunity to improve the experience.
Cody H — Google review
Nice izakaya vibes modern Japanese restaurant. This is a nice place to come with friends, order a bunch of different things, and enjoy it all family-style. The karaage is super nice, and so were all of the fish dishes 😋 They also offer some nice nihonshu (Japanese sake) 🍶
Y. S — Google review
We picked here for our last dinner in Seattle (vacation was soon over). What a fun place with lots of good food. I strongly recommend making reservations, otherwise you wait for outdoor seating. It is not protected from the elements (and yes it started raining later in the evening). The space is very metal and cement. It's a bit noisy. But, even with the place being packed, we could hear each other when talking and did not have to raise our voices. The seats are metal and the do NOT encourage you to linger. They pinch in at the sides (the seat backs) which is not ideal. But it is an Izakaya place after all, you are not meant to linger there for hours. Wy wife had some kind of sake slushy which she loved. I had a modified gin & tonic before switching to a pint of beer. The beer worked better with the food. The food: 1) Fried chicken skins with yuzu - great! 2) Fried horse mackerel (I love all mackerel!) with katsu sauce - a bigger portion than I expected, and so good! 3) Pork belly bao - very good! 4) softshell crab bao ( really very good (better than the pork bao)) 5) Okonomiyaki topped with gochuchang chili and mozarella (crazy good!) and also a larger portion than expected 6) Vanilla soft serve ice cream with a toki whisky caramel - fills in all the cracks. Fun night, great food. Good pacing on the dishes. Very good service. Recommended. Try it!

Sushi Kashiba is a renowned sushi and omakase restaurant located in Seattle's Pike Place Market. Founded by Shiro Kashiba, who trained under Jiro Ono, the restaurant offers high-end sushi in a chic setting with stunning water views. With its prime location overlooking the iconic market, Sushi Kashiba is celebrated for serving some of the freshest fish available.
My wife and I did the omakase experience here for our anniversary and I highly recommend it. The sushi quality was exceptional, and each dish was prepared with very high quality fish and perfect preparation. The restaurant setting itself is very nice, and offers great views and an upscale atmosphere. It's location is tucked away in a little plaza, so it can be a bit confusing when you're following your phone gps to get there. The chefs were very professional, but it was little loud In the restaurant and the chefs were quiet, so it was a bit hard to hear them when they explained each dish. It's also a fairly formal set up, different from the more informal omakase experiences I'm used to in San Diego. The wait staff was attentive to our needs and knowledgeable of the sake menu.

We highly highly recommend Sushi Kashiba, not only because of their top-notch sushi but also their outstanding outstanding customer service. Sushi Kashiba in our opinion, it’s the best sushi restaurant in the U.S., even better than many in Tokyo (I’m Japanese, so I can say that!). We live on the East Coast, and whenever we visit Seattle, we always go — this time, two nights in a row. Chef Shiro Kashiba, a long-time sushi legend in the U.S., is still very hands-on. One night, he was serving sushi to six customers at the sushi bar, while younger chefs were serving two or four customers. On another night, he was cleaning the table and the floor himself!! He really leads by example. We can see why their sushi and service are so outstanding. The sushi was so good my wife forgot her glasses at the restaurant. She was “sushi high” (we don’t drink, so it wasn’t alcohol!). We realized it the next morning before getting on the airplane. she called Kashiba from NYC. The manager told her the glasses were already on the way — and they even would not to let us pay for shipping cost. That kind of service, on top of world-class sushi, deserves more than 5 stars. Thank you, Kashiba — we can’t wait to come back!

Came alone for an omakase at Sushi Kashiba in Seattle. Omakase during dinner is available at 5pm and 7pm. The portions are huge — the first omakase ever that made me feel completely stuffed. Even without ordering extra, I was already full. 20 pieces of sushi plus a hand roll, tofu, and soup. Overall, the food was very good and matched my expectations for the price ($190 + tax + 20% service charge). Everything in the photos was great except the salmon, the texture felt a bit watery and loose, with little flavor. The course order was interesting — it started with a toro hand roll and ended without any dessert after the tamago. Service pace-wise, everyone at the sushi bar starts at the same time. There were five chefs, each serving about four to five guests, so you don’t have to wait ages between pieces. The overall rhythm makes it a good spot for solo dining — I was there about 80 minutes from start to finish. The chef mainly introduced each ingredient and asked a few polite questions but didn’t chat much. I could text friends in between and the next sushi would arrive — not awkward at all to dine solo at the counter. On the flip side, if you’re coming here for a date or to chat, it might feel a bit fast-paced. The location is super convenient, right next to Pike Place Market. The restaurant has a few ocean-view tables where you can see the market’s big red sign and a bit of Puget Sound behind it (the sushi counter faces away from the view). I didn’t take photos inside as there were other diners, but you can guess the view from photo showing the exterior. As for the total, with a $5 hot tea, it came to $258 all in. Highly recommended that for solo diners.

We had a wonderful omakase experience here, a truly great night! The fish was fresh and flavorful, with our favorites being the Toro, shrimp, and mackerel. The sake paired beautifully with the meal, though we would have loved to enjoy it in a traditional sake cup to make the experience feel even more authentic. Overall, highly recommended for sushi lovers

Came here on a Saturday night at about 7 PM set up the cocktail bar for one and the very professional bartender took my order for some à la cart. Sushi and I ordered about 14 pieces of premium sushi and two bottles of carbonated water and definitely the “nigiri sushi” by the piece was premium and it was delicious and at the end I think the bill ended up to be about $250 including tip so if you’re looking for some sushi in the Pike market area, this is the spot, so give it a shot, but be prepared to pay the premium price…keep up the good work and thank you and Arigato

Absolutely unforgettable omakase experience at the chef’s counter. Every piece was incredibly fresh (even alive just before it was served). and prepared with such skill and care. We felt so lucky to snag a last-minute reservation on OpenTable just two hours before and skip the walk-in line. From start to finish, the service and quality were unmatched.

Omakase was a good value even at $160 at the table (not at the sushi bar) in April. Impeccable service and super unique appetizers that I haven't seen anywhere else. Servers that have tremendous knowledge of the menu and well versed in the flavor profiles offered. Super filling and didn't need to order anything extra although we ended up splitting The NY Times Kashiba's Black Cod which was probably the most disappointing part of the experience. It was good but not really what I would consider excellent or award winning. My recommendation is to stick to the omakase.

Ive never given a 1 star to any restaurant...never in my life disappointed with a high end sushi restaurant. As a born and raised asian who's been to so many sushi places around the world, this place isnt even close to being called a good sushi place. It's probably all about presentation and reputation of the chef here and nothing more on sushi. They are so basic and way over price. Sushi in Texas tastes better than this

Korean restaurant
Revel is a popular restaurant in Fremont, Seattle, owned by the husband and wife chef duo Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi. The couple's culinary backgrounds blend French techniques with Korean flavors to create modern and creative cuisine. The restaurant features an industrial-design space with a lively bar atmosphere.
We were staying in the Fremont area on vacation and were very happy to find this place. The food was delicious! We split appetizers and got entrees, but did not have room for dessert. Everyone loved the Chinese Broccoli and Short Rib Wontons. I enjoyed my Crab Noodle entree — it had the perfect spice level for me. The cocktails were also enjoyable.

I get that it’s not a cheap place. But for the price they are charging, the portions are insanely small especially for the appetizers. And it’s not any mind blowing good either. But the dessert are cheap and great. Especially the cheesecake. Also they add 22% service charge. Cool no problem. But for 22% extra charge, I don't want to be flagging down our server for everytime we need her. We also got the wrong check with double charges at the end. Thank god we checked

Had an interesting and enjoyable meal here of mostly small plates. Inventive and thoughtful menu. We ordered too much - 5 small plates would have been a hearty meal for the two of us. Easy to get in during Fremont Hour (happy hour). The kimchi pancake was my favorite.

Very nice service, atmosphere, and food. I love their open kitchen and the creativity of their dishes. I’d describe their cuisine as fusion, yet comforting Korean food. I came in as a walk-in and was seated right away, even with a group of four.

Above and beyond. Revel is not traditional Korean food but a modern spin on Korean dishes. The best thing I had was the summer lettuce salad and the dumplings. Divine!!!

As a huge fan of Joule, I've been excited to try Revel for a while and I finally had the opportunity this last weekend. Overall, it's good, not great. The service is okay, a bit awkward for me compared to Joule which has a much more inviting and helpful atmosphere. The short rib wontons tasted more like ground beef imo. They didn't have the rich beefy flavor I expected from short rib. The kimchi pancake was the standout for me and was absolutely delicious. Not authentic Korean by any means but it really is a fantastic fusion dish! The galbi short rib plate(not pictured) was very nice and charred as it should be. Some super tender cuts and some tough and some uncomfortably chewy cuts. Bonus points because they leave meat on the bone for that classic chewy, close to the bone gristle. Lastly, the Jaengban noodles were refreshing! These were more on the authentic Korean side for me with the exception of the type of noodles which were closer to spaghetti than anything I expected. The sauce is a simple gochujang/sesame base. Really nice and light. I see some reviews mentioning that the portion sizes for the price are too small. No idea what these people are talking about, go to a diner(?)
Tim — Google review
The food is always fantastic here, but I have been a longtime fan of this restaurant since 2017, and I have noticed that the portions have been getting smaller and smaller here. Also, the cocktails were crazy overpriced. I work in the industry so I know what things typically cost. I ordered an old fashioned with Suntory Toki whiskey which was listed on the Captain’s List for 10$. Now I understand, as a bartender, it is customary for bars to add a small up charge for a cocktail, usually between $2 to $6 dollars. Revel charges 9$ to add bitter and simple syrup to whiskey! This just feels excessive to charge 19$ for a drink that should have been approximately 14$. The same thing was done to my girlfriend’s drink, it was a 12$ up charge. Not to mention that they have instituted a 22% “service charge” this is not considered a tip, and the server only receives 14% of this fee. The whole experience felt very shady, I don’t mind splurging on great food, and a great experience, while also taking care of my server, but this simply felt like I was being taken advantage of. I don’t care how good the food is I will never be back here since my trust in this establishment has been eroded. Really disappointed in this business, since it used to be one of my favorite places. Terrible value for such mediocre experience
Cassie C — Google review
This is the first time I’ve written a negative long review based on food quality, but I feel it’s necessary. Revel had been on my bucket list for a long time, so I had really high expectations, but I was extremely disappointed. Honestly, this was the worst Korean food I’ve ever had. They were offering a special Korean street food menu, so we tried the Guided Tour, which included all eight dishes. I was really surprised to find all of the dishes underwhelming. The pancake and mandu lacked flavor, the tteokbokki tasted worse than some pre-packaged versions from H Mart, and the kimbap, kimari, and fried chicken were at best “not too bad”, with very small portions. The bibimbap (top dish in the second photo) had no protein, just bean sprouts and a lot of leafy vegetables that seemed out of balance, and the sauce was weirdly sour. The hotteok was unusually thin and tasted worse than what you can buy at an Asian supermarket. We also got the banana milk makgeolli, which tasted like something poured straight from a store-bought bottle, and it was only about 8-10oz for $22. On top of that, there’s a mandatory 22% service charge, and the service was nothing special. Our waiter mostly just took our order and brought out the dishes. The 3 of us ended up paying $136 ($183 with tax and tip) for food that ranged from mediocre home-cooked quality to pre-packaged supermarket taste. There are far better, cheaper, and more authentic Korean restaurants in Seattle. I would not recommend Revel.

Ba Bar Capitol Hill is a stylish and upscale Vietnamese restaurant in Seattle that offers innovative cocktails and consistently fantastic Vietnamese cuisine. With three locations, including Capitol Hill, SLU, and U-Village, Ba Bar serves fluffy croissants, pastries, macaroons in the morning, and various Vietnamese dishes throughout the day. The menu includes specialties like banh cuon handmade rice sheets with Carlton Farms pork belly served Hanoi or Sa Gon style.
This was a great recommendation by a local! Their take on Vietnamese is fabulous. Love that they have banh cuon on the weekends and have three versions: Hanoi, Saigon and Shrimp. We had all three and they were all great! We also had the wings, but the winner was the banh cuon hands down. The Old Phoshian spin on an Old Fashion had the nice addition of anise but otherwise no hint of pho broth. Good, if slightly misleading. It's popular with the neighborhood locals and Seattle University students, so recommend getting there a little on the early side for dinner since there were several large parties waiting to get in when we left.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is one of our favorite local spots. The food is amazing, good service and fun atmosphere with a slappin’ vibe. The crispy imperial rolls were generously stuffed, the beef/lamb rolls were perfectly seasoned, the combo platter was huge and delicious, and the braised beef soup special was a delicious and delightful way to stay warm on a cold, rainy Friday night. We love BaBar for the best Vietnamese food in the city. Also, when you compare prices to other Cap Hill restaurants, their prices are much better for the food and service you get. Also their playlist is fantastic! A good mixture of pop music classics and current Vietnamese pop!

Great vibes and spot-on décor make this bar an easy place to settle into. The staff were quick and friendly, and the cocktail menu—especially during happy hour—didn’t disappoint. Food was a mixed bag: my Cơm Gà fell short of expectations and the complimentary soup ran salty. Still, the atmosphere and drinks were strong enough that I’ll give it another go and try a different dish next time.

Excellent pho with variety of meat that you don’t find in other restaurants. I enjoyed the duck pho - the duck meat was tender and flavorful, the meatball is bouncy and tasty. My friend enjoyed the steak pho as well - she finished it in one go! The portion is also quite large.

I received a gift card from my sister and was encouraged to try out their iced coffee. The first time I came, I got just the iced coffee to go and it was okay. However I knew I had to come back to try the food as it smelled absolutely amazing in there. Today I came back and tried the pho tai lan. It was absolutely yummy. There are strong flavors of garlic and ginger. The meat was grilled to perfection as well. I ate every last bit of my pho and can’t wait to come back.

Went here for lunch and wow SO good!! The staff were very pleasant and even with it being busy, it didn’t feel crazy crowded or overly loud. We order the imperial rolls (10/10) would probably get these every time. They were an amazing appetizer. We also ordered the garlic butter prawns as a starter and they were really good but not as amazing as the imperial rolls maybe like an 8/10. The prawns were delicious though. We ordered 3 entrees, the Saigon Singapore noodle (10/10) so tasty, I cleaned the plate. We also got crispy pork belly, I didn’t try this one but my brother’s girlfriend ate all of it and said it was really good! And lastly, we got the Bun Cha Ha Noi bowl and the meat was so tender and delicious. The table also got a lemonade and coffee. The Vietnamese coffee my brother got smelled delicious and he drank it all and loved it. I haven’t been to the other locations but the Cap Hill one was great. They also had pastries to eat or take away. So so good!

I really liked the pandan cake and the rotisserie chicken rice, the sauce was so yummy. Good for Her(the cocktail with an umbrella decoration) was perfect without too much sweatness. The other cocktail was strong for me. The service was fast even though it was pretty busy. Update : I visited again after almost a year. The food was still good. But their service wasn't good this time. I felt like their waitress was pushing us to hurry. As soon as she served a dessert, she brought a machine and made us to pay even before trying the dessert. We even had no chance to see our bill...

Restaurant
Maneki Restaurant is a historic Japanese establishment that has been serving classic Japanese fare, including sushi, since 1904. Located in Seattle's International District, it offers tatami rooms and a bar for an authentic dining experience. The restaurant's private tatami rooms provide a serene setting where guests can enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine and sake in seclusion from the bustling main dining area.
Maneki is an absolute gem in the International District and a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic Japanese cuisine and a truly special atmosphere. Stepping inside feels like a warm hug from the past – it's one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in the country, and you can feel that history. We opted for a tatami room (highly recommend booking this in advance!), which made the experience even more memorable. Kicking off your shoes and enjoying a meal in that traditional setting is fantastic. The FOOD! Oh my goodness, the food. We had an amazing spread! The sashimi platter was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented – a real highlight. The unagi don (eel rice bowl) was rich and flavorful, and the sukiyaki was so comforting and delicious. We also tried the takoyaki (perfectly crispy and savory) and the agedashi tofu, which was delicate and flavorful. Even the chicken wings and korokke were fantastic. Everything tasted like it was made with care and tradition. Service was friendly and helpful, happy to offer recommendations. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience you get. This isn't some trendy, overpriced spot; it's the real deal. Maneki isn't just a meal; it's an experience. It's a piece of Seattle history that's still serving up incredible food. Can't recommend it enough! Go, but definitely make a reservation. You won't regret it.

Maneki was hands down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. Jean was an incredible host—so friendly and knowledgeable. She took the time to sit with us and explain different sakes as we’ve been searching for one similar in flavor to the one we enjoyed during our visit to Beppu. Jean was also so much fun to talk with! The food was a 10/10—authentic, flavorful, and instantly took us back to our time in Japan. We loved Maneki so much that we made another reservation before flying home. We’re not locals to Seattle, but this spot will definitely be on our list every time we return. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Ocha Zuke with salmon and Spicy Cod Karaage were superb. Miso Dengaku with tofu was so so. The description said "broiled" but it looked like steamed or boiled. The sauce on top barely had miso flavor but just lemony. Echigo rice beer was quite refreshing and smooth. I recommend it!

We ordered the Hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), spicy tuna rolls, Hamachi rolls, black cod collar with miso, and Udon with tempura- yes, we love hamachi!. It was a rainy day, and this meal turned out to be the perfect comfort food. The fish was incredibly tender and sweet, with sauces that were well-balanced and enhanced the natural flavors. The sushi rolls were especially fresh. We heard this is one of the oldest Japanese restaurants in Seattle. While it’s not fancy or modern in appearance, it’s well-maintained and has a lot of character. The staff were fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable when we had questions about the menu. If you’re looking for quality sushi and traditional Japanese dishes in the area, check this place out.

Dinner was absolutely incredible! So fresh and so flavorful. I’d seen many reviews mention the black cod collar so of course I had to see what all the hype was about and WOW! So buttery and creamy, the first bite literally melted in my mouth and I was in love. I would also recommend the salmon nanban (I believe that is what it was called), a delicious cold dish perfect for sharing. Service was also very lovely, our waitress was sweet and friendly and also had great taste in music. I would say this was an affordable dinner, especially considering the quality of the dishes. We cannot wait to return!

Shanghai Garden is a modest Chinese restaurant located in Seattle's International District. The Su family has owned and operated it since the 1990s, offering a delightful array of dishes. One of their standout offerings is the remarkable green noodles, hand-shaved and wok-fried with eggs, squid, shrimp, and chicken. The restaurant's vibrant and flavorful dishes have earned praise from diners for their authentic colors and tastes. Additionally, the friendly service adds to the overall dining experience.

Wonderful food and great for vegetarian selection! Delicious and flavorful Chinese food in the International District. I particularly recommend the hot & sour soup and the hand-shaven barleygreen noodles. One of the worst Chinese restaurants. AVOID IT! The service is awful! We waited for 10 minutes for the host. The suggestions weren't good. The size of the food was not the usual for a Chinese restaurant, so the prices were overrated. We didn't like the service, and our tip was 5% of the check, but the waitress forced us to give her 18%. I want to complain to the Seattle office. The tip isn't mandatory for a party of 2.

This is the best Chinese food I have eaten in the Seattle It is full of color, aroma and taste, and the service is also very friendly. Every dish has the color they should have. Katsu Burger is a Japanese-inspired burger joint located in a simple strip mall setting. The serving sizes are generous, and the vegetarian burgers use fake meat substitutes. Despite being busy, the customer service is fantastic, and the food is cooked from scratch. The burgers are so delicious that customers find it hard to resist taking a picture before devouring them.
Hands down, 💯 the best burger I ever had. Juicy, fresh, and tasted like heaven. The food shows that have been here, can not describe the incredible taste of the burgers! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I got what's apparently the Umami Wagyu burger from this place, which is a katsu-breaded wagyu patty, swiss cheese, bacon, onions, and a few other toppings This burger was giving me a weird taste until about halfway through - until I realized the tomatoes & the tonkatsu sauce were combining for a weirdly sour and not attractive combination. I removed the tomatoes from the burger at this point, and it started to taste a lot better It started to taste better at this point The patty is just ok - the breading is light, and the patty is pretty overcooked. The bacon is also missing for the most part, and I wouldn't call it crispy. However, the rest of the toppings are quite good There's a lot of mayo, which adds a ton of flavor to each bite. The cheese is also melted well - but I especially liked the cabbage and onions, specifically the amount that they were on this burger. It was pretty nice to get such a variety of different flavors with each bite The spicy mayo-like sauce provided on the side is also a great addition to the burger The fries here are decent, seasoned well, but not very crisp on the outside nor soft on the inside This burger is really big. Like it was huge - not height wise, but definitely width-wise. Even though it cost about $20, which is a ton for a burger, I think it's big enough that you can kind of justify the price Overall, it's a pretty solid burger, but I definitely would get the tomatoes removed next time, and also probably a different meat. 7.25/10

Hark, mortals! I, a conjurer of considerable renown and possessor of a palate accustomed to ambrosia and the subtle flavors of starlight, have deigned to sample the fare at this establishment known as "Katsu Burger." The concept, as it were, appears to be a mundane sandwich – a "burger," they call it – wherein a slab of fried… something… is inserted between halves of a commonplace bun. The menu, a scroll of limited enchantment, offers various permutations of this base concept, often adorned with peculiar sauces and accompanied by fried tubers. While the establishment's history reveals a more promising genesis – founded, as it was, by a culinary artisan of some repute, a James Beard award recipient by the name of Hajime Soto – alas, it seems the alchemical spark has long since been extinguished with his departure. The current custodians appear to have allowed the magic to dissipate into the mundane. However… (and it pains my refined sensibilities to admit a positive attribute to such an unassuming establishment) their concoction known as the Kinako & Black Sesame Shake possesses a certain… intriguing quality. The flavors, a curious blend of nutty earthiness and subtle sweetness, did, I confess, momentarily pique my interest. A fleeting spark of the original enchantment, perhaps? Alas, the Chicken Tokyo Classic proved a dismal affair. The poultry itself was of questionable origin, tasting as though it had been summoned from a rather bleak dimension. The accompanying sauce was a substandard concoction, lacking any discernible magical essence. Indeed, the most palatable element was the humble sliced onion, a testament to the overall mediocrity. Therefore, heed my arcane pronouncements! While its origins hinted at culinary sorcery, the current state of Katsu Burger suggests that the enchantment has faded. Unless your desires are solely fixated upon a surprisingly palatable milkshake – a ghost of the former glory, perhaps – I would steer your earthly vessels clear. The remainder of their offerings are unlikely to enchant even the most undiscerning of palates. You have been warned.

Mike's Noodle House is a cozy and unassuming spot in Chinatown-International District that attracts a diverse crowd, from elderly couples to families. The menu offers a wide variety of noodle dishes, dumplings, and wontons. The chicken egg noodle soup with its thin and chewy noodles is particularly comforting on cold days. The restaurant has an extensive menu available in both English and Chinese, with affordable prices and generous portions.
This place is a congee institution. First thing first: this is a cash only place. Come prepared. There was a time when the congee would sell out well before closing, so you were lucky if you managed to get some at lunch. The staff can be seen hand-making the amazing wontons at super speed. Some of the best dishes are the sides of Chinese broccoli and the kidney and liver dish that comes with ginger and cilantro and an amazing soy sauce that includes diced jalapeño peppers. But you have to try the wonton soup, there are two kinds of dumplings: one is mushroom base and it is incredible. The other pork shrimp is also great. Congee: We go for the rockfish and pumpkin congee and highly recommend the chicken congee as well. Sometimes we add the pink vinegar other times the jalapeño soy sauce, and another chili sauce that is incredibly rich in flavor (I've had to figure out exactly what goes in). Parking is always a challenge in the international district but that's just par for the course. Be awesome to the servers because they are super chill, and tip heavy.

I should have knew it would be off when the outside of the restaurant smelled like dried shrimp. The broth smelled just like dried shrimp as well. It was quite off putting. You get used to it after a while but this isn’t enjoyable for me. Wontons and Sui Kau were good. They do not skimp on the meat! Would recommend if you like dried shrimp! Their hot tea is also really good. Cash only!!! Tip: You can change the noodle type!!! Just ask.

Our must-go place is Mike’s Noodle House 全記粥麵 every time we come to Seattle Chinatown, a long-established brand and our favorite 👍 Beef tendon, fish ball & fish cake combination, signature blanched pork liver+pork kidney+tripe, fish ball noodles... Everything tasted so good, friendly service especially Theresa is very helpful!Love this place which maintain high standard always 😋🙌

One of the reasons to love Seattle and the diverse choices in food. I chose the beef brisket #9 with dumplings. The dumplings had shrimp and pork. Everything was excellent.
John K — Google review
We ordered pork liver congee, beef noodle, and other small dishes. The congee was okay, but the beef in the noodle was very hard to chew.
Zemin B — Google review
Ordered the brisket and fish ball dish Also ordered the beef noodle soup. The beef was more fatty than I expected and the broth was fishy. But the coziness of this restaurant was nice. It’s also cash only!!! I liked the brisket way more than the beef. Will have to come back and retry. Sadly the wontons are mix of pork and shrimp as well.

Mike's Noodle House has a special place in my heart because it is one of the earliest memories of dining in here before I moved to Seattle. I would frequently come here with my family. I would walk on by the streets in Chinatown and be drawn to the strong aromas. Out of all the restaurants I've tried, this is by far the most authentic spot for wonton noodles. The menu is simple but has a lot of customizations. My absolute go-to is the beef brisket and wonton/suikau noodle soup. I love that they offer combinations so that I get to have variety. I usually like to sub the egg noodles for wide rice noodles. The broth is always flavorful and the taste has not changed over the last decade I've been coming. Also another classic dish is the congee which is paired well with the Chinese donuts. Service is efficient. It can get crowded since it's not a big space but tables open up fairly quickly. A few downsides is the cost of the food has gone up while the portion sizes have not changed. Also, this is still a cash only establishment but they do accept Venmo or Zelle.
Lesly W — Google review
Decent bowl of wonton and beef noodles. Mix was a little odd for the soup. Hard to pay 13 bucks for gailan knowing what it costs to buy it, but veggies are needed.

La Medusa is a cozy Italian trattoria located in Columbia City, offering Sicilian-inspired cuisine with a focus on locally sourced, organic ingredients. The restaurant features an open kitchen and a chalkboard menu, creating a casual and inviting atmosphere for diners. Known for its bold and briny flavors, La Medusa introduces the unique tastes of Sicilian food to the area.
A wonderful neighborhood dining spot that really captures the Sicilian essence when it comes to gathering over delicious and uncomplicated cuisine. Service was knowledgeable and friendly, food was served at the appropriate temperature and pacing with the meal - we never felt rushed and enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere. Only snagged a pic of the Arancini since we could wait for a photo to dig in to the next dish! Definitely making this a go-to spot for date night and taking friends out.

My apologies for only snapping pics of dessert, everything was phenomenal! Perfect place to eat family style so you can try a bite of everything. The food is so fresh and thoughtfully prepared with exquisite flavor combinations. You won’t find better service anywhere else in the city. It truly has that family feel like having dinner at your favorite Nonna‘s house if you have one of those.

Went here for dinner during the weekend. We were seated right away, which was nice. As we walked in you can hear EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION. Everyone was talking all at once. I was uncomfortable close to the tables next to me. Waiter comes to take our order and we get our food relatively fast. For $30/plate we got about 3 mouths full of food. It was very well executed. The pasta is of perfect consistency, got a nice chew and nice structure. They the sauce was tomato sauce with some olives and capers with a hint of anchovies. Slightly too salty and acidic but again, a well executed plate. It’s about three mouth fulls with of food. Luckily we weren’t too hungry but man was it expensive. It was absolutely not worth the money IMO. Add that to the poor loud environment, I just did not have that great of a time there. Would not come back given the price. Keep in mind they also charge 18% service by default. Don’t feel pressured to tip more.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ La Medusa is pure Sicilian soul in Columbia City—and I’ve gone back more than five times because it never misses. The squid ink pasta is a masterpiece: briny, silky black strands layered with fresh herbs and ocean depth. The grilled sardines appetizer is delicate, citrus-kissed, and simply unforgettable. Add the salt cod fritters—crispy, golden, and rich—and you’ve got a lineup that’s world-class. Yes, the tables are close—but that’s part of the charm. Look around and you’ll see nothing but good vibes, smiles, and laughter echoing through the room. The wine list is stunning, and the staff serve with pride, warmth, and guidance that makes you feel like family. Columbia City is full of energy, but this spot is its heart. Take the 7 on Rainier, step into La Medusa, and you’ll see why locals and visitors call it the best Sicilian food in Washington. This isn’t just dinner—it’s a memory worth repeating.

I’ve had many return trips to La Medusa and there will be many more. The rotating menu has seasonal flavors for all tastes including vegetarian and pescatarian options. The service is always exceptional and the atmosphere is warm and homey. A fantastic choice for Italian food in Columbia City!

Best Sicilian restaurant in Seattle! La Medusa never misses with their ever changing menu and consistent quality. The staff is always incredibly kind and accommodating and the atmosphere is great. One of my favorite places to grab dinner.

One of the best places for the real made in house Italian style pasta restaurants in Seattle. Service is usually extremely friendly and great. Food is great. It’s a small place. Make sure you call them first for the reservation

EDITED REVIEW: initial post is below. I went for the second time after many months, and did not have the same experience that I did over the summer. The people themselves were incredibly nice as always, but the quality of food just felt different. The appetizers of arancino, grandma’s greens, and the olives were all pretty good. However, they brought them out individually one by one and each at least 10 to 15 minutes apart. Given that our reservation was on the later side and app portions are small , we were pretty hungry for the first hour due to the pace of the meal. After the appetizers, it took quite a bit for the main course to come out. We ordered three pastas, the malfadine, the spaghetti, and the Campanelle. They were pretty good, but not nearly the quality that they were when I came here over the summer. They also did not come out until almost 9 PM (our reservation was 730 )The sauces did not feel like they had as much depth as before, although still yummy. I hope that this is a one off experience, because I really liked it the first time. But for the price and distance to get there from the city, I will put more thought into my decision next time. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is one of new favorite restaurants in seattle! I have tried several Italian spots in the city and this is certainly one of my top five! (Other notable spots I love are Il Nido, Spinasse, Machiavelli, tavolata ) First off, the service was incredible. Our waitress was so sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. We got grandmas greens, the croquette, bread, and mafaldine pasta with braised beef shank. Everything was stellar!! Particularly the croquette. They have a rotating menu and all the other dishes I saw also looked good. I need to come back and try everything! The ambience is quaint and definitely has a local feel. I loved it. I felt like I was in Italy. There are no bells and whistles, just good food, good service, and warm energy. A true neighborhood gem.

Bakery
Fuji Bakery, located in the International District on King St, is a unique fusion of Japanese and French pastry. The bakery prides itself on using carefully sourced ingredients to create an array of delectable treats. Their offerings include perfect croissants in classic buttery style or various flavors like mango, almond, and strawberry. Additionally, they serve a delightful ruby red Danish pastry filled with cream and topped with red grapefruit.
You don’t come here for the atmosphere. After all, it’s a hole in the wall—almost literally. This corner store has all of its freshly baked pastries in the window. No need for a menu; just point. Their crunchy, cream-filled malasada donut is my favorite, with the beef curry bun coming in close second. Don’t leave without also ordering a matcha to pair with your goodies. Easily one of the best matcha lattes in the city. They also sell Shokupan milk bread for sale upon request. You can thank me later.
Richie D — Google review
I’m so glad we stopped here while we were in the international district. We only got two malasadas, as we had lunch right before. If we are nearby again, I will definitely stop by so I can try some of their savory pastries. Both of them were so good, my favorite was the ube, but we also got a strawberry which was delicious too! As the other reviews mention, it is window service only so you cannot go inside.
Ava — Google review
Its not like modern bakerys You just order at the door and your good. But you can definitely taste that they perfected everything they have. Yes I have tried it all. The curry and ube and the crunch creme are my fave and recently the one with actual strawberry on top.

I special ordered a cheesecake and cat macarons for a 16th birthday party I threw for my cat, Lucifer. Everything was perfectly done and so delicious! The cat macarons had different expressions on them, which my guests adored. The order was also completed on time and I picked it up without any issue. Thank you so much! I will definitely order from here again for future events.

Great place to get Japanese milk bread (shokupan) - $4 for half a loaf. Excited to come back to try the curry buns. No indoor seating at this location.
Andrea S — Google review
Cute bakery with a wide selection of pastries. The azuki malasada was delicious and not too sweet.
Riley J — Google review
FYI: I came to Fuji because an employee of another bakery recommended this one. Just saying... Food: I had a plain croissant, a doughnut, and a pear, custard, and pastry delight thing. The donuts are sold in orders of 4, not individually. All were rich, and not oily or fatty, not overly sweet either. The pastries were delicious. Service: The young man forgot to include a raspberry/lemon curd pastry i ordered as well, and was charged for. The only reason I gave a 3 on service. The customer looks at available pastries from outside the store through a window. The employee then packs your order and you pay at the window. Its not self service. Getting your order packed is a service they provide. So... But easy remedy, next time I'll check the bag before leaving, not in the Uber, on the way home. Atmosphere is great. Beautiful Chinatown. There's an awesome plaza/park across the street. Asian staples like lanterns adorning the overhead, ping pong tables always full, benches with game boards in laid, and communal/social interaction. Love it. You can easily walk across the street and enjoy those pastries there. And this gem is right next door to A+ Hong Kong restaurant (also a gem).
Terri V — Google review
My sister in law chose this place for a quick morning snack. It was all new to us and we were from out of town, Vancouver, Canada. Located in the international district, at first glance the store doesn’t look like much and the door is blocked up with a wooden board. You can’t go inside. It’s a takeout place only. I think I can understand its concept. This part of town looks a bit rough around the edges. But we could care less. We are here to judge the food instead. We were also told by local patrons that it’s normal for a line up this early any day of the week. We ordered a few items to start off. My personal favourite so far is the Japanese curry beef bun. Loved the layers of texture. Crunch on the outside, followed by a pillow layer of the bun on the inside, and the center filling which is the star of the show. Man these can be deadly. I could eat 6 of them. You can also ask for them to be warmed if you didn’t know. Primarily if it’s your first time here, they are known for their malasada. Definitely get one of these. As for price… well… It’s on the high side. If your Canadian like me add another 40% to your items, that’s what your paying. But that’s not my complaint. My only complaint is that they posted a sign for their drinks with prices… but they don’t post prices for their pastries? What’s up with that?

Phnom Penh Noodle House is a delightful culinary gem that has been serving authentic Cambodian cuisine since 1987. Nestled in the vibrant Chinatown International District, this family-owned establishment boasts a charming bamboo-themed decor that sets the perfect ambiance for enjoying their traditional noodle soups and grilled meats.
I recently visited Phnom Penh Noodles House, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! From start to finish, everything about the meal was impressive. As we browsed the menu, they brought out complimentary tea, which was not only a lovely gesture but also incredibly flavorful—it set the tone for the rest of the meal. Ordering and paying online was a new experience for me, but I loved how seamless and hassle-free it made the process. The food arrived quickly, in about five minutes, and the quality did not disappoint. I ordered the Nhoam salad, which I highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for a low-calorie option. The flavors were out of this world—fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. My friend ordered something I didn’t catch the name of, but he couldn’t stop raving about it. (See the included picture for a sneak peek!) The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was another highlight—warm, inviting, and a perfect complement to the dining experience. Overall, Phnom Penh is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Cambodian food. I’ll definitely be back!

Phnom Penh Noodle House is a gem in Seattle! As someone Vietnamese, I found the flavors surprisingly familiar, yet still unique in their own way. We tried the beef noodle and dry pork noodle — both were incredibly tasty and well-seasoned. The owner and staff were warm and welcoming, making the experience even better. Definitely worth checking out if you’re craving flavorful, comforting dishes.

Price – At first, we thought the prices were a bit high, expecting smaller portions. But once the food came out, it was clear the portions were generous and absolutely worth it. We even ordered double Mekathung thinking it wouldn't be enough—but they definitely don’t skimp on the servings, and we really appreciated that. Taste – Everything was delicious! We’re used to having amazing Cambodian food in Lowell, so we tend to be picky when trying places elsewhere. But this spot exceeded our expectations. Every dish was flavorful, authentic, and satisfying. Ambiance – The space is cozy and intimate—stylish. It had a really modern, warm and welcoming. We were happy with every dish we tried and impressed with the friendly service. Definitely a must-visit if you're craving Cambodian food in Seattle!

Moved in to the same building recently. Finally made it for take out lunch. It’s one of the best of its kind I’ve been too. The chicken noodle soup (had a cold) was excellent. The stock is obviously scratch and very good. I really think this is one of the best in seattle. For 20 dollars, about the price of a happy meal) you get this.

I think I just found my new favorite Seattle restaurant for noodle soup!!! I'd visited Phnom Penh back in their old location in the ID ages ago; glad to see they're in a new spacious & well-lit spot. Wanted to try the Goo Nam (beef stew with noodles) and the Battambang's Favorite Noodle on the same trip, but upon arriving and seeing the bowls of noodles around me... the portions are pretty big, so I made two back-to-back visits. The Goo Nam Noodle is like Vietnamese Bo Kho, but with a lot more depth of flavor. When you order, you actually get the choice of what kind of noodle - this time, I opted for half thin egg noodle and half thin rice noodle, which was an okay choice since the thin noodles were hard to pull through the rich stew. (Next time, I'll try it with wide egg noodle.) The highlight here is definitely the bottomless bowl of delicious beef shank and ultra-tender tendon. Seriously, this portion could probably feed a whole family of four. During this same visit, I noticed the table next me ordered a bowl with what seemed like a mound of meat. I asked a server lady what the dish was, and she said it's the limited availability pork bone soup... she then comped me a small individual portion of it. Again, delicious! I think this soup may only be available on the weekends. The next day, I came back for the Battambang's Favorite Noodle, which is dry noodle bowl mixed with a bit of sauce at the bottom, veggies, peanuts, sliced egg, and dried shrimp. I got this one with wide egg noodle (again, you can choose) and additional ground pork. The amount of sauce was just enough to coat all of the noodle, and the sauce itself was a perfect combo of sweet and umami. What a great bowl of textures and flavors! Portion-wise, I think this would be perfect for two people. Service was excellent - the wait staff were very attentive about checking in on every table, making sure we were good with water. It definitely felt like well-oiled machine. Can't wait to return!

This place is a hidden gem. It was quiet when we arrived but the service was a good pace and the food was immaculate! We got the Phnom Penh Chicken Wings and Foursome Beef Beef Noodles. Both are really good and portions are good too but we weren't expecting so much of the noodle portion!! I aint complaining though. Overall, everything had amazing flavor and all came out pipping hot. The workers are nice too!

First time at a Cambodian restaurant. Food is very delicious. Some items on the menu feel more Thai or Cantonese to us so we went with the more authentic appearing ones. Everything was delicious. They prefer cash and charge 3% for credit card transactions.

Xi'an Noodles is a cozy spot in the neighborhood that serves up authentic Chinese hand-pulled noodles and other street food favorites. The homemade noodles, especially the renowned cumin lamb ones, are a must-try. The spicy cumin lamb used to be fiery but has been toned down. Additionally, the stewed pork burger and dumplings are highly recommended. Customers praise the great flavors of dishes like the lamb sandwich and noodle soup with good chewy noodles and flavorful lamb.
The tomato and egg noodle dish was amazing! We liked the simple ordering kiosk at the door, food arrived quickly, and water was readily available. Also a big shoutout to the cleanliness and design of the restroom, quite nice. Would return for sure.

So delicious!!! I've been here multiple times and it’s always a craving especially when it’s rainy! What I love most is that even when I order the dry noodles, they always come with a side of their broth. Plus the food is served up quickly, which is always nice :)

Got the classic 油泼面, the portion size, price and service was great. You order by phone but staff is very attentive. Would have liked it spicier but that might be personal preference so for me flavor was a bit lacking, I'd rate it 4.5 if I could

Delicious but we’ve had better handmade noodles in Seattle and Kirkland. This is a student frequented eatery, ordering is via a kiosk and service is non-verbal and quick. While the noodles were average, the broth and spices were on point.

I tried the Qishan Pork Biang Noodles. The pork was delicious—really well-marinated and flavorful. But the noodles themselves were a bit underwhelming and lacked depth. I did ask for low spiciness (they give you that option), so that might have affected the overall flavor. Still, I feel like even with less spice, the dish shouldn’t lose its character or impact.

Soba noodle shop
Kamonegi is a cozy spot in Fremont that specializes in handmade soba noodles and Japanese delicacies. Chef Mutsuko Soma, known for her expertise in crafting buckwheat noodles, uses locally sourced ingredients like matsutake mushrooms and sockeye salmon to create traditional dishes such as duck and leek soba. The restaurant also offers innovative creations like shrimp tempura bisque and spicy habanero-infused plum sake.
Absolutely incredible! We opted for the tasting menu with sake pairing, and even the simpler dishes were bursting with flavor. Everything was beautifully presented, and each sake pairing was spot on with the corresponding dish. Highly recommend the Tomato Kimchi soba if it’s available! We will be back for sure.

Had high hopes for this place that fell flat. Did the tasting menu and the person I was with and I didn’t really like anything 😔 They gave old looking carrots (browned) and pieces of lettuce on the pickle appetizer. Weird that they gave jalapeño watermelon bites and called that one of their items. Their croquette was too oily and creamy to finish. Eggplant was unpleasant. Soba was nothing special at all, and the duck one was extremely salty even watered down. Had like 2 meatballs but even with that small of quantity I didn’t want to eat them. Best thing was the dessert, that was good. Would not go again or recommend. Def overhyped. Very expensive for what you get too, everything is greatly overpriced. I like the interior but their menu, offerings & everything seem like smoke and mirrors. Bowls are mainly from crate and barrel and cups from ikea too which wasn’t impressive lol for the price you pay. Also no AC, we were sweating while eating.

This Japanese restaurant specializes in soba (Japanese noodles) with a duck broth and duck meat. They also have other traditional Japanese foods, as well as a fairly large drink selection. The food is pretty tasty, and the service very good. The environment itself is run down, but passable. Be prepared that they automatically add a 20% gratuity to your bill. It's an okay place to try.
John E — Google review
The restaurant is small and noisy, but the food is good. Shrimp tempera is very good! It is the best shrimp tempura I have ever had! The shrimp is fresh. The fried skin is thin and crispy. The dipping sauce is also wonderful with a little plum flavor. The uni shiso tempera is also very good! But we didn’t enjoy the soba too much. The dunk meat has good flavor and texture, but the dipping soup is very salty. Chawamushi is good with lots of flavor and soft steam egg. They add 20% tips BEFORE tax on the check.
Vicky — Google review
Authentic Japanese vibes, great ambiance and welcoming staff, I loved the voice of our server and we sat at the bar looking into the kitchen seeing all of it happen! Def go for the side dishes, and try to share a noodle, one bowl is definitely too much for one person :) a memorable night!

Got the barely tea, duck dipping soba and the tempura mochi with sesame ice cream. They start the meal with a free piece of cucumber and miso. The miso is way too sweet. The must order of the night was the tempura mochi with sesame ice cream. The crunchy tempura paired with the soft bouncy mochi and light sweet sesame was divine. The dipping broth was the best part of the soba. Duck meatball had a nice bounce and a peppery kick. The duck was too tough and a little gamey and I normally love duck. Maybe a different soba. Tea was refreshing to beat the heat.
Anna O — Google review
I was very disappointed with Kamonegi. I love soba especially paired with tempura; those were the best kind of meals I had in Japan. I expected to experience the same going to Kamonegi. However, I left the restaurant very disappointed… I ordered Ten Zaru which comes with veggie tempura, ordered 4 pieces of shrimp tempura, and a few starters. It was really disappointing because the quality of the veggies and shrimp they used was really good however for it to be coated with such thick, greesy, and heavy batter did not do the ingredients justice. I expect a place advertising as a tempura place to have fluffy, light tempura as I’m used to in Japan. Also Soba noodles were too al dente, made it hard to enjoy with the dipping sauce. Other than that I thought their starters were unique. I enjoyed their squid deviled eggs and ikura with tempura shiso leaves (although again I did not like the tempura batter) :(
Rebecca H — Google review
Delicious, freshly made soba noodles in a tiny, bustling corner wedged between Wallingford and Fremont. The vegetable tempura was a delight as well. The Uni Shiso bomb was fantastic...I could eat a bunch of them, if they weren't so (understandably) pricey. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff that take pride in the food they are serving. Parking is very difficult as is getting a seat. It's best to make a reservation. I dined alone and was lucky to get in.

Very authentic! Friendly and fast service. 3 dishes were served in less than 5 min on a Saturday evening. Their House Special Fish is the best 水煮鱼 so far after me having moved from coast to coast in the States for ~10 years. BTW, their Chinese tea is surprisingly good too. Absolutely dank food… the service was great. The lady serving us was super polite and she was great! They were open on Labor Day so it was our only option but it was undoubtedly the best option! The food was super authentic and full of flavor. The food also came out super fast and there’s truly nothing to complain about. I highly recommend visiting this place!

Decent food for decent price. Food for 3 people with leftover is only $60. Servers are very attentive and the place is spacious and clean. We had 4 dishes. The hot pepper shredded potato dish was not as good as other places but still decent. The pickled veggies and fish soup was huge. My favorite dish was the taro (actually konjac jelly) and duck dry hot pot; it came with generous amount of duck for only $16. Food wasn't as spicy or flavorful as other sichuanese place but I don't mind coming back.

This place has some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. We let let the chef know that we ate anything and loved spice, and left our menu up to him - and it was WONDERFUL. The owner of the restaurant, and our server, told us she brought us dishes like her mother used to make. Come here, ignore the menu, and trust the chef! Notes: The restaurant is admittedly not in a great location, but the food is with it. I also ordered take out from here once, ordering off the menu, and received more typical bready, bland "Americanized" Chinese food.

Great spot with fast service and good distinction of flavors. The veggies were not overcooked and the meats tender. The dan dan noodles were just the right amount of chewy - a must try!

Restaurant
Suika Seattle, located on the Pike Place Hillclimb, is a popular spot for locals and tourists seeking traditional Japanese cuisine. The menu offers a variety of options including sushi and tonkatsu ramen with pork belly. The restaurant boasts an excellent selection of sake, beer, and creative cocktails like frozen sake and fruit sangria to complement your meal.
Came here for the 3rd time while taking a girl out on a date and I did it right this time. Ordered off the daily menu and got a plethora of things to experience the feel of the restaurant and I can say this is one of the best Japanese meals I've had. The ambience was wonderful, and the food was spectacular. The tastes were all so complimentary of each other, and it was paired with spectacular service. The kaarage back ribs were falling off the bone, the uni dishes had the flavors incorporated so perfectly, and the sushi was amazing. For the type of food served, the price point is not bad at all, and that's coming from a cheap ass person
Sebastian T — Google review
I’ve been here three times. The food was good but there weren’t a lot of choices. They have pressed sushi roll and it feels like just regular rolls. The food was decent with the cost. The uni shooter was like a tiny bowl of uni roe bowl since they have rice underneath the uni. You can’t really shoot that into your mouth like a drink. They have special watermelon cocktail drink where you drink directly out of a small watermelon. It’s pretty cool but cost $27 per drink. This is a small little place and it’s always packed. Making reservations is recommended before going.

This place has amazing food! Our favorite was the tuna appetizer. The pressed sushi was also very good. The udon dish was almost like Mac and cheese. The cocktails were all amazing as well. The atmosphere and servers made it warm and inviting as well.

I really love suika for their uniquely flavored sushi, their creamy Uni Udon, and honestly everything else on the menu. While the portion sizes are small, the food is amazing. Go there for the Happy Hour!

Very popular place. We had to wait about 30min. We checked a couple of near by stores til they called us when our table was ready. If you were not in rush, this notification system works great. The interior was nice and cozy feel. Food selections was decent. Lots of fried food, chicken, tuna, pork, etc. we had Tuna tatsuta age which was really good. Sashimi salad and sushi dishes were overpriced. Very skimpy 4 pieces of fish/ scallop mix with greens. I was disappointed. Their house Ginger Ale was really tasty! I loved it! As long as you stay away from raw seafood, food is reasonable cost. Street parking only. Suited for grownups in small groups.

Awesome Izakaya with unique dishes - from different types of Kara-age, to a take on Bibimbap! Tako Kara-age highly recommended. A wide variety of sake/cocktails round out the culinary experience. It's pretty packed, even on week nights, so reservations definitely recommended. Excellent service. Good for groups. Actually moderately priced. Street and paid parking in lots are available.
Ed C — Google review
Hidden little gem right on Pine, a Japanese traditional and fusion spot. Had a handful of appetizers that were great, along with a nice assortment of main dishes. The Rainbow Uni Shooter was delicious, especially if you are a fan of roe. Started with the cold ramen salad which was phenomenal, would have it again as a main dish. The bibimbap was authentic, along with the spicy ramen. We also had the spare ribs which were a bit too fatty for my liking, and I like fat. For the money, I would stay away, you don't get much meat, mostly fat and bone, and the sauce was much too sweet. Plating was drab considering the price and how everything else looked. Might go back for the ramen. Also frozen grapes for complementary palette cleansing dessert! Service was great, tea was tasTEA
Dylan — Google review
High quality food high quality place. Often has a long wait so make sure you book in advance. Had an unfortunate experience where I bit one of the chillies in their ramen and burnt my mouth. They were kind enough to find milk for me and even waived the cost of the ramen. Would definitely go back to try other things there

Consistently a great place to go for a night out. Although the menu is large you really can’t go wrong with any choice. Big fan of the yakitori and the okonomiyaki, but had the salmon collar tonight instead. Very good still. Highly recommend whether you’re visiting by yourself or with a group.

The prices here are really reasonable for the quality of Japanese food. We had sashimi, and the grilled meats and vegetables. It was really good, I came by before the cut off time for happy hour, so we ordered sake and Sapporo and some apps. I definitely will come back.
Savya T — Google review
Everything was AMAZING. Pork belly and chicken thigh skewers and sashimi were our favs! The sashimi was such great quality for an insane price. Ordering style is to order a bunch of small things as you eat. Each plate is very affordable and of exceptional quality. Service was amazing and very friendly. We had trouble finding an Izakaya in Chinatown as all of them were very small and exclusive, and this one was an amazing pick. Can’t wait to come back here next time I’m in Seattle.

First time visiting and it was phenomenal! The food was delicious, and the happy hour is truly amazing with unbeatable value. Even outside of happy hour, the sashimi on the regular menu is excellent quality and still fairly priced. The service is warm, friendly, and makes you feel like you’re in Japan. The ambience is comfortable, pleasant, and perfect for enjoying a meal. I’ll definitely be coming back — a real gem!

Came here for the first time to try out the happy hour menu and OMG everything was great!!! Yakitori skewers were cooked perfect and seasoning wasn’t overpowering as well. The Agedashi Tofu was the best one I’ve ever had and honestly would go back to this place just for it. The tartare was also so yummy. Overall, great vibes and consistent great food.
KIM S — Google review
The food was much better than I expected as a picky Japanese food lover. I only tired Happy hour menu and Yakitori impressed me. But I’d suggest skip maki (rolls) as I didn’t think it was rolled well. Agedashi tofu was kinda disappointing with the uneven coating. I’d also skip Kalbi and order more yakitori instead.

Came to this place for the Japanese skewers and they did not disappoint! But in my opinion, the hidden star of the meal was the grilled Saba. The grilled was was so well done that I would come back just for it. The service was good and we didn't have to wait but we arrived very early. Cool place with high value Japanese food

Nestled in a vibrant and contemporary setting, Little Uncle is a delightful haven for lovers of classic Thai cuisine. With an open kitchen that fills the air with tantalizing aromas, this bustling spot has finally found its perfect balance after a journey through various locations. The cozy atmosphere features wraparound windows and limited seating, complemented by a charming sidewalk patio. Owners Wiley Frank and Poncharee Kounpungcharte have cultivated a loyal following since their early days as a pop-up restaurant.
AMAZING. broth was great on the chicken curry. Steamed buns were tasty and had great flavor. I love how they have tea with Pandan! I loved the feel of the place. Perfect for good food quick but with a sit down vibe. You won't be disappointed!
Jess L — Google review
This little hole in the wall has a limited menu but incredible thai food. The only downside is how cramped the place feels. We went on a Friday night so it's not surprising that it was busy. We will definitely be going back as the flavors were fresh and authentic. Highly recommended!
Seth T — Google review
Ooh! The Khao Soi Gai hits the sweet spot on a cold day! It's coco-nutty, creamy, and oozing tons of curry flavor! Hiding under that bushel of fried noodles is a house-made packet of dried chili flakes. Generously sprinkle it into the bowl if you want to be sweating and huffing out fire! Actually, it's an aromatic spiciness and I recommend tapping it gently so you don't get too much. Super satisfied w/ both dishes. Make sure to be kind and bus your own table to the bins after you're done.
Angel L — Google review
The most authentic Thai food around in my opinion. Took me back to Thailand. Everytime I've came here it has never dissapointed. Everything i ate was packed with flavor. The portions are just right. The crispy chicken skin steam bun was so good. I recommend ordering that. I wanted to eat a dozen of them. This place is worth your time, stomach and money. I'll be coming back.

Liked the gluten free friendliness and the cozy welcoming feel of the place. To go materials etc were very "earth friendly" and they had yummy free tea while you wait to go or even eat there. Highly reccomend.
Dianna C — Google review
Great place to get Thai food. Small menu with some great, authentic dishes in it. Both the dishes we had were delicious and not like Thai from bug restaurants, much more like street food crossed with home cooking. Great atmosphere and service. Recommend trying the Kombucha before buying, it's an acquired taste.
Mark C — Google review
Perhaps the high reviews set my expectations too high, so this may be biased. Overall found food to be satisfying, but the portions small for the price. Ordered the Khao Mun Gai, both the pork and tofu buns and the Phad Pak. The pork bun is the only item I would order again, super delicious. The tofu bun was good but nothing special. The buns are more like tacos, and I can dig that. The Khao Mun Gai is okay curry with a couple slices of chicken and egg noodles. Wasn't thrilled. The Phad Pak was incredibly flavorful, but should be twice the size for the price. The best part was mixing the rice with the sauce. The rice is $3 per person, something I will never get over at a restaurant. It's rice. It may be "mixed Jasmine" but it's still like $.25 worth of rice. The ingredients were clearly well though out and fresh. The service was good.
Daniel H — Google review
I’ve heard great things about this place, but honestly was disappointed. The Thai ice tea was watery. The pad Thai was.....sour and dry? I added in the extras they give you on the side but it just wasn’t working for me. The mango sticky rice was good.

Naam has quickly become our favorite Thai spot east of downtown. The food is consistently tasty, and the friendly, efficient service is second-to-none. My partner and I arrived an hour before a show in Seattle Center. We told the staff we were in a pinch, they expedited our order with the kitchen, and we were in and out in 30 minutes. The calm ambiance, high ceilings and soft lighting make for a relaxed dining experience. Takeout is typically ready in 15 minutes. We're grateful to have Naam in our neighborhood!

Food is always great here😋 Service is a bit cold, but effective and never rude, which is totally fine for me. Since I’ve been there for first time year ago, it’s always same women working and probably family business. And I appreciate their hard work☺️ Also drinks are amazing too 🍸 Interior is very stylish to my taste, nice to seat in the summer with open windows. My favorite Thai place to go for past few months.

Excellent meals and small plates , a full service bar, and prompt and polite service. Many dishes have really fresh vegetables - the green bean is a fan favorite. Wa'z Seattle is a Japanese restaurant in Belltown, offering an intimate and minimalist space where guests can enjoy artful kaiseki-style plates and an extensive sake menu. Chef Hiro Tawara leads a team of cooks to create a nine-course dining experience featuring seasonal produce prepared in various cooking methods. The restaurant also offers exquisite temaki sushi at the sushi bar, showcasing the chefs' superb skills.
Wa’z had been on my bucket list for a long time and I’m glad I finally got to try it with some friends! You do have to make a reservation prior to going. The service was amazing and curated, food selection was diverse, and got to try different types of Japanese food. The menu is monthly and they incorporate ingredients from the Pacific Northwest with Japanese cuisine. I thought the addition of PNW flowers into the food was unique and a great homage to the mix of cultures. The chefs were also goofy and cracked jokes with the guest (look at the tuna!!). They also gave flowers since it was birthday. Would definitely come back again!!

We visited wa'z for their June tasting menu. Everything was absolutely delicious from start to finish. The textures, mix of sweet, salty, spice, and aromatic flavors sent my senses to another world. Pair you meal with the sake tasting and it's an absolutely incredible experience! 10/10 will go back!

It was beautiful inside, the staff were so informative and engaging, I loved hearing them describe each dish on the pre-fix menu. Each dish was delicious in its own right, and you could tell they enjoyed their work and did it well. I will definitely be going back for another special occasion, and look forward to seeing what other items the chef will pair together on future menus. Thank you so much for taking care of us on our anniversary, until we meet again!

We had a lovely family dinner for 8 people. We were impressed by the sake selection, the knowledgeable and courteous wait staff, and beautiful, clean, and thoughtful dinning room. Everyone in our party did the prefixed menu. I am diary free, and the restaurant graciously made accommodations for my dietary restrictions.

They have namasake and shiro Koji sake! 🍶 Very hard to find outside of Japan. Dry aged Tuna was also fantastic and the uni was not too strong. Was also happy to see Kinmadai (Golden eye Snapper) come out in one of the dishes. It's one of my faves! They freshly grate the wasabi as well. Everything tastes so fresh and well balanced. Would eat here every month if I could.

My sister claims these are some of the best bites she’s had in her life. Standouts include the uni sesame tofu, Ikura corn puree, and Wagyu (perfectly done). We visited from NYC, where we have tried a few Wagyu restaurants, and were much more impressed by the quality demonstrated here

This restaurant was truly an exceptional dining experience. The food was exquisite – 10 out of 10 quality with impeccable presentation. Each course was a unique and meticulously crafted masterpiece. You could truly taste the chef's passion and dedication in every bite. The pacing was perfect, allowing us to savor each dish without feeling rushed. The service was impeccable. The staff were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food. The storytelling behind each dish added a special touch, making the experience even more memorable. The umami flavors were unlike anything we've encountered before. And the personalized dessert for my girlfriend's birthday was a truly special touch. We've dined at many Japanese restaurants, but this one stands out in every way – the food, the service, the ambiance, and the overall experience were all top-notch. We will definitely be returning soon! Highly recommend!

This Japanese restaurant Fort St. George is great for Japanese diner/comfort food and provides a comfortable space with excellent service. They play techno, punk, and 70s rock music in the background, making it a perfect place to relax and chat with friends.
This is what you call a hidden gem! IFYKY. Truly it has one of my favorite Japanese bar food, but the best thing here which was the most surprising is the Japanese spaghetti. Just think homemade from Mom right straight from her kitchen. I've been going here for the last couple years and it never misses. I absolutely adore this place. And the service is so lovely! Everyone here is just exceptionally sweet and kind. Its a spot you should bring a friend and share an app + spaghetti. Don't hate on it unless you tried it! The Japanese Kewpie mayo on spaghetti is insanely good.

Food is very delicious, a little pricey considering you make most of it in like 10 mins with ingredients from Uwajimaya across the street. But if you don’t feel like doing that this is so worth it! The melon soda is delicious and picture worthy, the curry is exactly what you want, the dipping udon as well. Nothing is too crazy or too bland it is perfect Japanese diner food. The service is very kind we wanted to change our order and they were very understanding. They also brought lots of pickles upon asking for extra. My only quips: Super not accessible, only accessible by stairs sadly. Eggs, the egg in the egg doria was super raw and I completely understand that Japanese people love raw egg but that is because Japanese eggs are much better quality than most American eggs, and I could tell this egg was not to this quality.
Becca S — Google review
Home style Japanese diner, conveniently located near the International District/Chinatown station, which is about 5-10 minutes away. We came to this place due to the high reviews but was quite disappointed with our experience. The good: friendly staff, attentive service, food was served quickly. The bad: pricy, below average food quality, outdated decor. The Gyutan ($19, 8 PCs) was the worst I have ever had. They were salty, overcooked, and way too thick, which made them like rubber and extremely hard to chew. The Omurice ($18) was overpowered by ketchup, as that's the only thing I could taste and for $18 dollar I would expect the portion to be larger. Lastly, the spicy karage curry has a weird sour taste to it. The chicken was pretty spicy, but also pretty sour probably due to overdose of lemon/lime juice during marinating. Overall, we left disappointed and probably won't come back again.

A Seattle institution! Such a great spot for late-night dinner as well as a shot or two. I cannot count how many times friends and I have returned here as I’m a regular (thank you for the green tea shots), and the food is truly comfort food. Their garlic mayo spaghetti is my frequent go-to, as well as their chicken katsu curry, hamburger steak and bento boxes (personally always get mine with chicken katsu and mackerel — so delectable!). They’re all so consistently delicious. And of course, you can’t write a review for FSG without mentioning Misaki. Thank you so much, friend! Your bubbly personality and sweetness are so welcoming & needed. There’s nothing like that exemplary person at a restaurant that makes you feel special and takes care of you always. 🫶🏽

A hidden restaurant on the 2nd floor with excellent service and decent food. When we got it on a Friday evening it was relatively empty. I ordered the "Yakibuta Chahan" and "Spicy Cheese Fries." The chahan had a light flavor and you could taste mostly chicken + onion. The spicy cheese fries tasted like fries and cheese with a mild spice. What stood out to me was the service. They went out of their way to chitchat and regularly checked-in on us during the meals. It felt really welcoming.

I would give it 4 stars if you live in the area or can get here via mass transit. 3 stars if you drive here and add in the cost of parking. The menu shines with an impressive array of matcha offerings, including lattes, frappes, ice cream, parfaits, floats, sodas, pastries, and even straight tea.
The parfait was amazing. We went in to try their matcha but noticed they also sold parfaits and it was worth every penny. We ended up going back the next day because of how good it was. The service was quick as well with a lot of sitting area. If you are going to sit outside you do have to order the food to go but it wasn't much of an issue. Both inside and outside are spacious

I loved their Chicken Nanban rice plate. I’ve been here twice and always order the same dish. There is no parking lot, so you need to park about one block away from the restaurant. The karaage was also good. Indoor dining is always busy, and there isn’t much space.

This matcha place is definitely a must-visit. I went to the Seattle location, and they offer a wide variety of options—even for those who aren't fans of matcha, like me. I chose the red bean and strawberry drink, and it was delicious. My friends ordered different matcha beverages, and I found them all to be tasty as well. I will definitely come back! The only downside is the parking, but it's still worth visiting.

Parfait was great for the ice cream portion of it, but all ingrdients combined, it was too much for me in regards to the amount of dessert and how thirstry it makes me. So I probably am not going to be getting the parfait again, but I will certainly want to get green tea ice cream here again cause I loved its subtle bitter taste combined with sweet creamy flavor. Roll cake was also great for its right balance between bitterness from green tea and sweet creamy flavor.

Visited Oct 31, 2024: Great location and accessibility! Plenty of seating on a busy day. We got a Matcha Ice Cream cone (which was delicious by the way), and a Matcha Parfait (which was amazing). The staff were dressed up some for Halloween, which was cute. Great service throughout our time spent here and would happily go again next time we are in the area.

Oh my gosh this place was literally so adorable. We got here at a perfect time so the line wasn’t long but while we were sitting after ordering the line was definitely a bit of a wait. Got the matcha mochi parfait and it was definitely not like anything I’ve ever had in the best way possible. The mochi wasn’t sweet which was so perfect because the icecream was and everything just flowed together perfectly. The way that the building is set is such a vibe. Definitely enjoyed this spot.

A very long line when you first enter but it goes fast! The parfait was great, just make sure you have friends to help you eat (it's really big)! The Sukiyaki Don was great, just a tad bit too salty and the karage was over fried. It's a cute place with great drinks!

Restaurant
Hoang Lan Restaurant is a cozy Vietnamese eatery that offers traditional meals in a laid-back, old-school setting. The star of the menu is the Bun Bo Hue, a spicy noodle soup featuring housemade pork sausage and an umami-filled broth. This fiery red soup is packed with various animal parts and thick rice noodles, creating a bold and flavorful dish that keeps patrons coming back for more.
This place has been on my list to visit for a while and it was really good. Best BBH I’ve had. Every table was packed, small wait but I didn’t mind. Chatted with some other folks waiting who said they grew up going here and it’s the best around. I missed the hot sauce in the side in the little metal container. Everyone else seemed to add a few scoops to get their broth a nice red. Really great price and they took Apple Pay.
Daniel H — Google review
I got their signature dish the bon bun hue, and was pleased with the taste of the dish. There was quite a lot of beef in the soup, and the broth was rich and delicious. The spicy was perfect to not be overpowering while still adding more dimension to the taste. I was not a fan of the taste and texture of the pork blood cube, and there could have been more noodles. There was also a piece of pork hock which was a little hard to eat. Overall it was a fine dish to eat, and I feel like while I didn't get the biggest bang for my buck, it was an acceptable price. Getting the large bowl is definitely the way to go given the $1 difference to size up for $15. Service was prompt and polite, and the place was not too crowded coming before 11am. For me this would be a place to bring friends, but not necessarily be a regular myself.

Hoang Lan Vietnamese restaurant has earned its place as our favorite spot for Bun Bo Hue and Com Tam in the Seattle area, and for good reason. Conveniently located right in front of the link light rail, it's easily accessible even if you don't have a car. However, if you're coming from the east or north side of Seattle, be prepared for a bit of a drive. Parking is a breeze, with a free lot located behind the restaurant and plenty of spots available every time we visit. They even have a door at the back, so you don't have to trek around to the front entrance. Depending on the date and time, the restaurant can get quite crowded, so be prepared to wait a bit for a table. We typically visit for brunch or lunch, and the owner is always friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to deciding what to order. Our go-to order never disappoints: Bun Bo Hue with spring rolls as appetizers, and Com Tam to-go for dinner. The spring rolls are generously sized and bursting with flavor. As for the Bun Bo Hue, even the small size is packed with an abundance of toppings, making it better than some places I've tried in Vietnam. Plus, they provide plenty of veggies to accompany the dish, which is a huge plus. Now, onto the Com Tam or broken rice dish—it's hands down the best I've had in the States. The pork is flavorful, and the shredded pork skin is reminiscent of what I remember from Vietnam. The broken rice is cooked to perfection, and let's not forget about the fish sauce—it truly completes the dish. Overall, I've been consistently satisfied with everything at Hoang Lan. If you're willing to make a bit of a drive for some delicious Vietnamese cuisine that won't break the bank, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

Pretty good BBH. $15 a large bowl and you get a pork knuckle and other meats. It can be a bit salty hence 4 stars but otherwise, one of the better BBH I've had in WA.

I heard good things about this place from my friends and finally checked it out and it did not disappoint. I got the bun bo hue, which is a must here given the sign. First off you get a lot of food for just $12-$13, that alone is enough to try. Noodles were perfectly cooked, broth was sweet and savory, spicy, and a good portion of meat. My only complaint is that the blood cake was not good. I've had fresh blood cake in Vietnam and it doesn't compare unfortunately. Other than the blood cake it was solid and very affordable, highly recommended. P.S. This place gets busy at lunch time so get here early as it's small.

The soup broth is excellent. However, I think they're starting to skimp on the meat, at least for the hủ tiếu (seafood option #2).

Amazing Vietnamese Soups and cuisine. This non pretentious, cozy restaurant will amaze you with their selection of great soups, stir fry.and appetizers. Crab Noodle soup with a tasty tomato broth is amazing. Bun Bo Hue is their signature soup you also can't go wrong with. They also have other traditional Vietnamese dishes and right off the light rail!

Tonkatsu restaurant
Kobuta & Ookami Katsu and sake house is a cozy Japanese eatery known for its unassuming yet delicious rice dishes and an array of Japanese-style fried cutlets, including options like pork, jidori chicken, and even cheese. The chef's expertise in frying ensures a satisfying crunch with every bite. Diners can enjoy their katsu in various preparations such as chocolate curry or bubbling nabe.
One of the most popular katsu spots in Seattle!🤩 We went on a weekday around 7PM and had to wait for two groups ahead of us. They strictly seat only when your full party has arrived—definitely recommend making a reservation! It was my first time trying their hire katsu hot pot. The menu clearly says they can’t serve the katsu on the side🙂‍↕️ So I quickly took the pork cutlet out before it got too soggy 🥲 But honestly, the pork soaked in the sauce with veggies and egg was super flavorful and perfect with rice! The set also came with rice, shredded cabbage, and pickles—very filling and satisfying. The miso Iberico katsu was amazing too, especially with the ground sesame and miso dipping sauce! My friend’s mozzarella katsu looked so indulgent and juicy🤤😍 Each katsu set came with a huge pile of cabbage—love that! 🔸Katsu Iberico 💰$31 🔸Katsu Mozzarella 💰$23 🔸Miso Iberico 💰$32 🔸Nabe Hire Katsu Hot Pot 💰$27 #SeattleEats #KatsuLovers #JapaneseFood #KobutaOokami #SeattleFoodie #ritaeatsinseattle Definitely make reservations in advance or plan ahead to get in the waiting line. The pork was tender and juicy, and the fried skin was crunchy. But the pork had not much flavor. We liked the yuzu dipping sauce and the curry. But the miso soup and pickle was not worth the price.

The service was impeccable. The miso soup was freshly made, as was the shredded cabbage (crisp and fresh). The hot mustard had a great flavor, and I'm guessing that it was partially made as well. Finally, the prawns were done just right, and you could tell that the prawns were freshly prepared

Love the Katsu and all fried seafood. You can choose different type of pork here from Iberia to Japanese wagyu pork. Sauces are delicious here. Service match to Japanese service quality here.

Very clean & staff are cordial Very very hot sake Looks beautiful Crunchy & fresh katsu Zero flavor on katsu.. Do they even season the meat.. Pickles are mushy.. +5 for pickles and miso.. Hearty toppings on miso.. But it also looks like this has been their MO since the beginning Very sweet curry Seattle 3/5 LA 2/5 Confused why there is a wait

I got the Kurobuta (Oroshi Katsu) which in my opinion, the premium pork tasted very average, nothing overwhelmingly good besides the shredded cabbage and the grated radish. The cooks weren't wearing hairnets, I found a hair midway through eating the food. My gf bought the Nabe Katsu Iberico and honestly it could've been a lot better food wise to be honest, the meat quality and seasoning were very subpar.

This is truly my favorite restaurant I’ve had in Seattle so far. The katsu and sauce just makes me feel like I’m back in Asia again. I got the tomato and cheese mozzarella katsu. The katsu is filled with much cheesiness, but also balanced out well with a tomato sauce; it’s kind of like creamy marinara sauce. I also like the mountain of lettuce that they gave you so that you Get your veggie intake. Overall, such an amazing experience and I will definitely come back again if anything multiple times.

Run, don’t walk here for some of the best Katsu in Seattle. The food, sake, service- everything is top notch. They don’t take reservations for parties less than 6 and the lines get LONG right after opening at 5 pm so maybe go for lunch. Huge fan of the Kurobuta, Menchi and Ebi, both as Katsu Nabe and as Oroshi. The desserts and appetizers keep changing so it’s never boring. The table sauces are BOMB! One of my fav Seattle places for a very filling and crazy flavorful meal.

Tofu restaurant
Korean Tofu House is a popular spot in a college town, offering quick counter-service style dining with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu features Korean BBQ, bibimbap, soups, and seafood options like seafood pancake and spicy seafood ramen. The portions are generous and the prices are affordable. Customers can expect friendly service and may be asked for proof of vaccination for dine-in.
My mom and I went here for lunch a few days ago. Both of us really enjoyed our food. My mom got the hot pot bibimbap and I got the japchae. We both had tofu as our protein. My food was so flavorful, the noodles had such a chewy, bouncy texture, and all of the veggies were fresh and bright. My portion of noodles was huge and reheated well for lunch the next day. Highly recommend!;

One of the coziest and most satisfying Korean meals I’ve had in a while! The soft tofu soup (soondubu) was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spicy – just the right amount of heat to warm you up. The tofu was silky smooth, and the broth had great depth. 🍲🔥 Loved the variety of banchan (side dishes) too – especially the potato and fish cake. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The purple rice was a nice touch and paired really well with the soup. Service was quick and friendly, and the portions were generous. Definitely a spot I’ll come back to when I’m craving comforting Korean food! 💯🇰🇷

I have been to this Korean restaurant in the University district for several years but today was my first time going there for dinner. Overall it was good. I loved the bibimbap and seafood pancake! My friend ordered the japche and he couldn’t eat it because it was too sweet. Lastly, it was so hot in the restaurant with no AC that it was hard to really enjoy our food. So we didn’t stay long and took our food to go.

Terrible experience. The pork smelled bad and seemed spoiled. When I asked the manager to check, he was arrogant and rude, yelling, “Once you order it, you cannot change it. Everyone is having the same meat,” without even coming to my table. No service at all—no one checked on us or even refilled our water. He ignored me completely and chatted with other customers instead. Crowded, hot, noisy, and now with bad food and worse service. I’ve been here five times before, but never again.
Lexi L — Google review
Looks like a family run place. Cozy. Menu is QR code only. The waitress was not familiar with the korean names of the dishes so english only. Plenty of banchans. Fish roe soup - soup base is good. Three pieces of fish roe sacs. One shrimp that is not deveined unfortunately. A few pieces tofu, few pieces tteok and zucchini. 2 clams. Seafood pancake - super big! I love that it is crispy. The dip came is a take out plastic container for some reason. This makes it hard to dip and not very environmentally friendly.

I have come to this place over the span of 10-12years. I used to come a few times a month (10years ago) and then I came about once a month after its 50% price surge (around 7-8years ago). Until these last couple years, the quality of food and its price have become wildly disproportional by year. Although the taste of food remains the same (recipes didn't change), the quality of the ingredients have visibly declined as the prices have doubled. (What used to be $10.99 is now 21.99, and you see the same up charges on everything on the menu). Despite the price, the quality of food is what draws me to write this review. The pork in BBQ spicy pork used to be good length size and thick; now the pork looks like some skimmed off meat almost like minced pork that you can barely pick up an intact piece with chopsticks. Same thing goes with bulgogi. Short ribs in BBQ short ribs become smaller and fattier. They even skimmed the rice - I had my first purple rice from their restaurant 12years ago, and now they purple rice barely purple cuz they added much less wild sweet rice into it. (Left picture from my recent visit, right picture from one of the reviews from 8years ago - see the color difference) Last couple years, I have put this restaurant from my go-to list to my watch list. Each year I will go once and come back disappointed. It confirmed again and over that the quality doesn't match with the price increase. They no longer hold the hearts of long term customers. Maybe they are still getting enough business from the new innocent customers who are willing to pay high and settle for less. But I don't see how this is the way to do a long lasting business.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka University Village is a Japanese chain known for its velvety-rich tonkotsu broth options, including shio, shoyu, and miso. The restaurant offers in-store ordering with special takeout items like brothless mazemen and tsukemen. Established in Japan and later expanding to the US and Canada, Santouka's first American restaurant opened in Bellevue before extending to University Village.
my favorite ramen place!! the combo is my go-to, since both their ramen and rice dishes are so yummy! the shio ramen has the perfect flavor. i also like how you can order different sizes for the ramen. been coming here since 2019 and it’s always been amazing. the staff is consistently friendly which i think makes the whole experience! while they can definitely get busy with long wait times, you can also order for pick up which is always so fast. overall 10/10 highly recommend!

Hokkaido offers a solid but unremarkable dining experience in the heart of Seattle. The menu is standard for a Japanese restaurant, with familiar dishes that are executed adequately but lack standout flavor or presentation. Service was efficient & the atmosphere is clean/casual. Overall, it's a decent option if you're nearby, but not a destination worth going out of your way for.
Tylor J — Google review
The ramen is good! The portion looks small but is actually quite filling. So I’d do small if you’re not a big person. We’ve tried the Shio and the Shoyu. The Shoyu is more flavorful because of the soy sauce, but I recommend ordering the Shio and add a tiny bit of soy sauce if you want a bit more umami. Because the Shoyu one overpowers the pork both flavor.

Hae-Nam Kalbi & Calamari is a cozy Korean eatery that offers traditional hot pots and classic mains like bibimbap. Customers recommend trying the seafood pancake, spicy pork bulgolgi, japchae, and hot pot dishes. The staff is friendly and accommodating, providing helpful menu explanations and recommendations.
This restaurant offers great Korean food with a wonderful taste. Each dish is prepared with care, resulting in flavors that truly satisfy. This restaurant offers a variety of classic Korean dishes with the banchan standing out as a highlight for us. However, the interior feels underwhelming and lacks the warmth or ambiance you'd expect for the price point. Staff and a family were yelling across the restaurant at each other, albeit in a friendly manner. While the food is great, the prices may not justify a stop for some people. Food was incredibly fast and the single order was beyond enough for two people.

Good little place to drop in if you're craving Korean. Side dishes were lovely and refilled often and the food we ordered was authentic and tasty. Luckily it wasnt busy when we went and they seated our large-ish party of 7 immediately. Nice little hidden gem.

I have been here twice, eating in the restaurant and once gotten a take out order. And both times the food has been good. I love the banchan. It's definitely a place I will return to.
Silje B — Google review
Been there a couple times, they were remodeling and were pretty good before that. Also tried a few times after remodeling, didn’t like it too much. Bibimbap was pretty good as it usually be, fried chicken needs dipping sauce or marinated, has no taste. Other dishes are as good as it usually would be, but just okay.
Abia — Google review
This place is great for both big groups and also couples or individuals. There's still a lot of room after they remodeled their seating. It used to be more open when I was here years ago, and now they have a wall in the middle of the room to divide the seating. I was worried it would make me feel more claustrophobic, but it actually allows for a little more privacy. We got the LA kalbi and bulgogi and tasted the seafood pancake. Their seafood pancake is the best one I've had out of 3 different Korean restaurants I've been to this season - both in terms of flavors and size. I didn't have any doughy or overly burnt pieces like I've had at another restaurant. The unique thing about the bulgogi is that it comes with an electric cooker (not sure what it's called), so you have to wait for the mushrooms and onions to cook because they're raw. I'm not sure if I like this or not because it takes up a lot of room. The amount of meat provided in both dishes was fair for the price. Plus, their flavors were on point. One of the only things that shocked me was the bibimbap because I don't remember it being so small. The price was almost $20 for a small bowl. Usually I have enough for leftovers at other Korean restaurants or here years ago, but the new size looks too small. I would probably stick with getting meats and the seafood pancake. The banchan was pretty standard - nothing amazingly unique or bad. I did like the tofu one the most.

Vientiane Grocery is a Lao market in Seattle that recently moved to a new location across the street. The grocery store also has a deli counter offering house-made sausages, spicy salads, beef jerky, spareribs, sticky rice, and assorted sweets. It serves Thai and Lao food with fresh and generous portions. Customers praise the friendly family running the establishment and recommend dishes like Pad Thai, papaya salad, sausage, and larb.
Authentic Lao food spot. Highly recommend. It’s everything you’re looking for when you crave some SE Asian food. Tanginess, fish sauce umami vibe, fresh basil/minty vibes, lots of crunchy and chewy textures, and of course the spicy chili peppers. Make sure to order some sticky rice too to mellow out the intense flavors.

Great local spot for Asian groceries and food made to order at the mini restaurant. I recommend grabbing a jar of the chili crisp if you’re a spice fiend - it’s probably one of the spiciest chili crisps I’ve had. The grocery store always has some cool snacks and staple ingredients. I’ve tried a few dishes (off the top of my head, the pad lao and another rice dish). The flavor profile is good but the dish may be slightly too mellow for me. It could also just be my palate and first exposure to Laotian cuisine as well. The Thai green iced tea is pretty good. Service is so friendly, and they’re happy to explain dishes to you if you’re not familiar with Laotian cuisine, like me. They also have some rotating ready-made desserts at the cashier, my favorite being khao nom kok, mini rice flour and coconut cream cakes.

Just the right amount of spices so many flavors a must-try!! The Pad See Ew is perfectly cooked you can taste the fresh wide rice noodles and the wokee smokiness on every bite. They use high-quality ingredients here. And for me, it's got to be the fresh Derserts! They must make them in small batches it's usually warm when I get them. Update: I ordered Red curry and a drink/snack. Red curry came with rice. Curry had good amount of vegetables ( egg plant, bamboo shoot, basil, red pepper), not skimpy at all. I was pretty impressed. Lao/ Thai grocery store with takeout food. They had many items on their menu. Price was reasonable and cheaper than restaurants. Food was good. I ordered Pad see ew with chicken and Green bean salad. Pad see ew had a lots of vegetables which I like. Green bean salad was a bit spicy ( medium) for me, I will order less spicy level next time. I would like to try different dishes! So excited to find this place. Parking available. There is a paved path to get this store. The door is not big, wheelchairs may be tight.

Kilig is a Filipino restaurant that's highly recommended, although not quite on par with its sister restaurant, Musang. The Bulalo and Sinigang wings are standout dishes, but the latter could use more Sinigang powder for that sour kick. Finding parking can be a challenge as there's no dedicated lot, but street parking may be available. The Kare Kare Dan Dan is a must-try with its elevated flavors and innovative addition of noodles.
The atmosphere is inviting, the service is top-notch, and the food—absolutely unforgettable. Their modern take on Filipino classics brings out authentic flavors with a fresh twist. Located in the heart of Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, Kilig isn’t just a place to eat—it’s an experience. We heard good things on eater and decided to come over. I’m always on the lookout for good restaurants at ID. And the addition of a modern Filipino cuisine by renowned Melissa of Musang made it a must go on my list. We ordered sizlin sisig and the adobo and bok broc baby. Service is decent. You get your menu, then your food, etc. The sizlin sisig is a huge letdown. There is something wrong with the pork. It’s not fresh. Smelled extremely strong. I couldn’t get it down much. The adobo is fine. But only includes 3 pieces of meat and does not include rice! Which is charged separately at 4$! The waiter is like “ would you like rice with that”, for something that obviously needs rice to eat since the waiter said it’s “pretty heavy” and recommends rice. Why would you add a dish that requires a side? And then charge 4$ for the side? The dish feels incomplete. The 20% mandatory tip and the extra charges on the rice leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Literally We needed spending 87 dollars for 3 dishes+ a rice shared between 2 people. No drinks.

We were excited to try this restaurant for our late lunch during our troll hunting around, we ordered pork sisig- it was good and we add of course our red chili for some heat spice on it, next was the Bulalo- the meat was tender but the whole soup was not hot enough to really enjoy, the bowl was warm to touch but the food is not hot well that was a let down- we were hungry and didn’t request to heat it up more i guess, the last menu was the Pancit (noodles) not our classic pancit they have there own twist on it , we chose chorizo as our meat for a change - not sure if it was the chorizo that made the dish oily , it something you wanna try it but maybe try it with chicken or pork or shrimp , and ask for some lemon on the side for it.. overall it was still a nice experience and kept us wondering about the taste of the rest on the menu. We had a friendly nice service and cool atmosphere. They were also pet friendly and that we are thankful for letting us bring our pups inside especially on a hot weather.

Ringo Curry is a delightful gem that offers an authentic taste of Japanese curry, perfect for first-timers and seasoned enthusiasts alike. The crispy Katsu, whether chicken or pork, delivers a satisfying crunch paired with juicy tenderness. Opting for spice level 2 still brings a pleasant kick to the dish. The silky egg omelet atop the rice adds a rich creaminess that elevates the meal into something truly comforting and soulful.
This was my first time trying Japanese curry, and this spot did not disappoint! The Katsu fry was perfectly crunchy with a juicy moist bite on both the chicken and the pork. Had the spice level 2 for the curry, and even though it's a lower level, it still had some kick. The egg omelet over the rice was silky and added that perfect fattyness for the dish. Overall it felt like a comforting honestly soulful meal with a Japanese twist. Will definitely be coming here again! P.S. the large portion is good enough for two people to share.

Had a really good meal. The curry was pretty good and the service was great. There were open tables when we got there because we went early before the dinner crowd. They say to let them know if you have nut allergies, but it seems like they completely took the nuts out of the curry so it's good for those with peanut allergies. We sat by the window so we had a nice view of China Town, and the homeless but hey they're everywhere downtown now. The seating is limited so if you're planning on going try to go a little earlier. Enjoy!

The egg omlette is done well! The katsu remained crispy to the very end. The curry has a very very mild spiciness to it, and the curry flavor is rounded nicely. A bit too salty. Taste is good, price is a little high, but overall would come again, I liked the atmosphere.

Enjoyable curry experience! We got the katsu curry and level 2 spiciness. The pork cutlets were nice and crispy but I think they were slightly dry and not as moist as I'd like. The curry sauce itself was very flavorful and had the right amount of spice. Overall, I think this place is great as a regular go-to spot for casual curry in ID.

Went for lunch and the food was good and fresh. They make your food to order but it still came out really fast. The staff was also very attentive and efficient. Definitely a place to stop at if you’re craving curry.

Bright spot in the C-ID!! Japanese curry was super tasty! Portions are huge! Bring your appetite! Brought my 94 year old Japanese grandma, she said it tasted like home!

Lovely place. Spacious, airy, really cute inside. Staff is super sweet. Food was absolutely delicious and good portions. I got a large omelet curry and it was 10/10. Heavily recommend. I do feel bad, I didn't realize they closed at 3 until i pulled it up to start writing this review, and I think we stayed decently past that. Staff didn't mention anything, but I'm terribly sorry! Very sweet place and will definitely be back.

The service was absolutely wonderful. The food came out hot and fast and not only that it was very good. The prices feel high, but they are everywhere I would definitely recommend this place especially on a cold day.

If you're in the mood for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than Ten Seconds Yunnan Rice Noodles / Nai Brother Chinese Sauerkraut Fish. This gem offers ample parking right next to the building, making it convenient for a lunch stop during your busy workday. Guests rave about their grilled fish with pickled flavor—though marked spicy, it's surprisingly mild and perfectly complemented by an abundance of fresh veggies.
Driving through the area and stopped here because they are amongst the few restaurants downtown that offer free reserved parking spaces. I did not have very high expectations, and I was absolutely blown away by their offering. I had Beef & Tripe Dry Rice Noodle and it was spectacular. The portions were generous, especially the meat, and the food was delicious. It had just the right amount of heat, and the fried peanuts added a delightful crunch. I didn't expect them to have spicy crayfish on the menu, and upon seeing it I knew I had to try it. It was deliciously spicy, pleasantly numbing and tasted very authentic. The crayfish were on the small side and didn't have much meat on them, which is unfortunate. However overall this restaurant is very underrated and I highly recommend coming here to give their food a try!

We unfortunately didn’t get the full experience because we door dashed this place, but even ordering takeout, the food quality was exceptional! Can’t even imagine how much better it would be if we dined in person. I got the dry beef tripe rice noodles, my boyfriend got the tomato beef brisket rice noodles, and we had the fried donuts to share. The portions are massive even in the Togo containers and they were delivered in a high quality reusable bag as well! The tomato soup broth was hot, flavorful, the right amount of acidity, and was well portioned with loads of meat, veggies, and noodles. My dry beef tripe noodles were a tad bit spicy, but also flavorful, a giant portion size, and a lot of meat for what it was worth. It does come with peanuts too, for those with peanut allergies. Even my son liked my dish, and he is extremely picky. The fried donuts were delicious too! Perfectly crisp, hot, and would be perfect with a side of condensed milk to dip it with. Will definitely try again, but for dine in next time.

Our visit to Seattle was very rainy and cold. This place did not disappoint. All our meals were delicious. The soup was amazing and tasty. It’s definitely good for sharing. Make sure you park in their designated area so you’re not looking for a parking space like we did. Just ask them first before parking anywhere.

We went here on a whim, as I was merely visiting Seattle for a day, and had a pretty good experience!! It was very quiet when we went, but staff was attentive and quick. There were problems at check out about us splitting the check and then charging it all on one card, but we were in a rush at the end of our meal, so just make sure you double check everything at the end if you have time! Our table got the popcorn chicken dry noodles, and the beef fried rice. Both were SUPER good (popcorn chicken is thigh meat as far as I could tell, for those with texture issues), and the noodles were spicy but delicious. Fried rice was nice and savory, meat was very tender! Overall I would recommend this place, it's obvious they make everything in house and fresh, and service was very friendly and good. We'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Came on a workday for lunch and has a few groups of guests. Plenty of parking space on their designated parking spots next to the building. Grilled fish (pickled flavor) was great. It was marked spicy but actually very mild. Not too salty either. Lots of veggies. We also ordered their classic rice noodle. For a limited time they offer a free coconut desert with the grilled fish order. Tastes great too! Just perfectly sweet and authentic flavor. I’d come back more often.
Rachel Y — Google review
Rice noodles are soft and delicious, with a well-balanced broth that complements them perfectly. The mala beef soup is just as tasty. The tiny staff member provides excellent service—serving every table, refilling water three times, and handling payments, all on their own. So adorable!

I meant to order some snacks in their Bellevue store but ended up ordering in this Seattle store via Panda App. I called them immediately to cancel the order and they refused. I was with a friend in their Bellevue store so I reordered the same snacks in their Bellevue store. After I sent my friend home I wen to Seattle store to pick up my order. They only do the half size of that in Bellevue Store. I asked them why you charged the same price but only offer half size. The lady was very rude and said this is what they offered. I highly recommend the Bellevue store. They do six pieces of normal size pumpkin pies and a full size box of fried chicken(The 4th picture. Even the leftover is more than what was offered in this Seattle store)!!!

Authentic Yunan Rice Noodles! I ordered the one with beef and tomato, it was amazing! Just the same taste like I had when I travelled to Kunming, Yunan.

The Modern Apartments is a great place to stay while in the University District. It's centrally located and close to all the action, including University Village and campus. The studio has everything you need for an enjoyable stay.
Best Place to Live!!!! I am a current resident who has lived here for over a year. I can say with confidence that it's hands-down the best place I’ve ever called home in Seattle. It offers more than just an apartment—it’s a whole new standard of living. First, let’s talk about the staff. They’re not just doing their jobs; they genuinely care about making life easy and enjoyable for residents. From friendly faces at the front desk to maintenance that’s lightning-fast, they make you feel valued from day one. They also know how to build community, with events that bring neighbors together, creating a real sense of camaraderie in the building. Then, there are the amenities—honestly, they’re a game-changer. You’ve got a fully-equipped gym, spacious outdoor terraces, a beautiful rooftop lounge and bar, and even a sauna for unwinding after a long day. The apartments themselves are just as impressive, with sleek finishes, large layouts, and windows that let in all the light you could want. It’s a thoughtfully designed space that feels like true luxury. What makes The Modern extra special, though, is the community vibe. It’s a place where people actually get to know each other, and the management team organizes activities to keep things lively, from wine tastings to workout classes. With so many luxury apartments in Seattle, The Modern still manages to stand out. The combination of top-notch amenities, attentive staff, and an active community is second to none. If you’re looking for a living experience that’s a cut above, The Modern is where you’ll find it.
Nzinga M — Google review
Avoid this place. They are encouraging people to write good reviews. Observe that the 5-star reviews use vague marketing-style language. They also bribed the admin and took control of the WhatsApp group for residents. This was supposed to be a group where people can share info. They treat each resident differently and exploit those who don’t know. This apartment baits-and-switches and acts disingenuous from greed. I was one of first 10 residents who moved in. Most of the early residents from before 2024 moved out. We were either baited and switched on or flooded out. I lived at The Modern from September 2022 to May 2024, first in unit 3109 (paying ~$4,600/mo, which was ~$1,000 above nearby penthouse units) and then moved to 2703 after the first flood. There were 2 major floods and a 3rd minor one (I heard) after I had moved out. Initially, they tried to run the apartment like a 5-star resort—offering weekly bagel brunches and monthly $100 private chef dinners with unlimited wine. But after about a month, the weekly brunches were reduced to monthly, then stopped altogether. The private chef dinners became more expensive and eventually ceased as well. The events at first were cool and FREE such as pumpkin carving for Halloween and rose bouquets for Valentine’s Day. Over time, events became less impressive, and some started costing $20+ per person, packed, harder to RSVP for. It made the experience feel far from luxury. Imagine paying a premium for a first class ticket but then get told to line up in economy. They’re desperate to make up losses from the floods. As a result, they nickel-and-dime residents with extra fees and fines—like $200 for leaving dog hair in common areas or $250 for staying at the bar past curfew. No warnings either. They update the Resident Handbook silently to add or increase fees. You only find out when you’ve been charged. The bar, which started out as a nice perk, eventually came with strict rules, guest limits, and more fines. I was impacted by the first flood in 2022. I had to fight with them to cover relocation costs but they didn’t pay 100% so I had to file insurance and still paid a deductible. They promised improvement but management changed and things got even worse. In 2024, another flood hit the building. Thankfully, my second unit was spared. However, I saw neighbors being treated even more poorly than I had been treated. Management tried to evict people ILLEGALLY within a week. They intimidated them by lying, saying their lawyer said they had to GTFO by the end of week, on their own dime, too. It renewed my anger towards the building because the flood happened again and they handled it even worse. Staff turnover is high. The front desk staff are really nice and greet you every day and hold the door for you but they all leave within a year. I heard James their 3rd bartender rage quit, too. He tried to shield the residents from the BS. He spoke up for us once after Sentral tried to sneak in a bill for “common area electricity” on everyone’s ledger. This wasn’t on my lease agreement and it was an extra $130 a month! They also overcharged me $1,300+ for parking I didn’t use. They didn’t refund me for 3 months after I had moved out, ghosted my emails, and only took action after I had threatened to sue. Basic amenities in the units themselves are also bad. Water pressure is terrible—it took LITERALLY 30 minutes to fill a bathtub. The hot water was never hot enough for over a year. The dryer takes 2 hrs to dry one load. The fridges in both of my units malfunctioned, either didn’t make ice or dispense water. The kitchen hood isn’t properly insulated so it let in noise and dust from the street. During high winds, the ducts rattled like crazy. It’s because the building is a retrofitted WeWork. The gym, fitness classes, and views are indeed nice. However, they don’t make up for the subpar fixtures and being terrorized with changing rules and shady billing practices. I felt stressed out and anxious living here and also a sucker! Imagine shelling out $65k a year to live under a slumlord.

The Only Place Worth Living Having spent the past 10 months at The Modern, I can confidently say it’s the best place I’ve ever called home. If you’re looking for an unparalleled living experience in Seattle, look no further. From the moment I moved in, it was clear that The Modern is not just another apartment complex—it's a lifestyle upgrade. Let’s start with the staff. The team at The Modern is exceptional, combining professionalism with a genuine warmth that makes every interaction a pleasure. Whether it’s addressing maintenance issues swiftly or organizing community events that foster a strong sense of camaraderie, their dedication to resident satisfaction is evident. Their friendly demeanor and attentiveness make you feel like a valued member of the community from day one. The amenities at The Modern are truly second to none. The state-of-the-art fitness center, double outdoor terraces, serene rooftop lounge/ conservatory/ bar, and relaxing sauna offer an oasis of relaxation and leisure. The apartment interiors are equally impressive, featuring high-end finishes, spacious layouts, and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create a luxurious living environment. Beyond the physical attributes, it’s the sense of community that truly sets The Modern apart. It’s a place where neighbors become friends, and the communal spaces are designed to bring people together. The events organized by the management team, from wine tastings to fitness classes, foster a vibrant and engaging atmosphere. In a city with many luxury apartment options, The Modern stands out as the pinnacle of excellence. It offers an unparalleled combination of top-notch amenities, outstanding service, and a welcoming community. If you’re looking to elevate your living experience in Seattle, The Modern is the place to be. Highly recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Modern Seattle, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, the building's sleek, contemporary design set the tone for a truly exceptional stay. The staff were not only welcoming but also attentive, ensuring every need was met with a smile. My apartment was impeccably clean, spacious, and beautifully appointed, offering stunning views of the city skyline. The location is perfect, with top-notch dining, shopping, and entertainment just steps away. I highly recommend The Modern Seattle for anyone looking for a stylish, comfortable, and memorable lifestyle in the heart of Seattle.

I had an absolute pleasure of staying at The Modern apartment over the holiday season, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by a highly professional and warm team who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. Their hospitality was second to none, and it truly made all the difference. The apartment itself was stunning—sleek, stylish, and impeccably maintained, offering both luxury and convenience in the heart of the city. If you're looking for a place to rent, I can't recommend The Modern enough. It’s without a doubt the best apartment complex in the city, offering everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Where to start? if you're looking for an impeccably designed high-rise experience, with a great balance of community and apartment amenities, The Modern is top of the list. The team here is incredible - they go above and beyond to get to know everyone, and are always providing unique experiences for everyone. The 35th floor observatory is basically an extension of my living room, gives me a great place to work throughout the day with the best views of the city. Thursday - Sunday they offer complimentary drinks to the residents and their guests. Special shoutout to James, who can mixup a cocktail and a mocktail like no other. The apartments themselves are QUIET! Seriously, we've never heard anyone walking above us, or any noise from our neighbors. The floor to ceiling windows are an awesome touch, and allow tons of light. Appliances and kitchen are great, and the bathroom is EXCELLENT. The building is located in the heart of Belltown so there's tons of bars, restaurants, and boutique shopping nearby. The staff does an incredible job of making you feel safe when you're home, namely with a 24 hour manned desk, and restricted access garage. We're really happy with our decision to make The Modern our home!
Josh H — Google review
Once you've experienced "The Modern", consider yourself lucky, once you're no longer experiencing "The Modern"...I wish you the best of luck. No building in Seattle can even come to any level of the original apartments, the service team(s), the lifestyle team. The Modern is the greatest high rise apartment living concept that has yet to be replicated, duplicated, or achieved. As one of the first residents and first "homes" in Seattle; there will always be a special place for this building and effortless, service oriented, nature that it's just impossible to find elsewhere. They say the Ritz Carlton can be replicated but the Four Seasons can't. The Modern is in the Four Seasons lane. Did I mention the lifestyle and event(s) team? If circumstances allowed; I'd still be sipping weekend cocktails whilst watching the sunset over The Sound. A bespoke offering that just absolutely can't be replicated...did I say that already? (Photo is my own, taken personally)

This was our second visit to Seattle (Dec 2024 and now May 2025). Our daughter lives in The Modern and the guest apartments are a huge convenience. The staff is extremely polite & helpful. The studio apt 1410 and the 2BR 1801 are both well furnished and fully equipped. Thank you Team Modern for a most wonderful stay. Nimis & Geeta Sheth

Nestled in the charming Chophouse Row, Anbai is a delightful little eatery that captures the essence of authentic Japanese cuisine. During my stroll around Capitol Hill, I stumbled upon this hidden gem and was immediately drawn in by its cozy atmosphere and welcoming service. The menu features an array of healthy options, including their standout Ton Jiru miso soup—rich with pork and vegetables—and a fresh enzyme rice onigiri that truly impressed me.
This whole area is cute and fun to explore and tucked inside is this gem of a restaurant. Healthy and delicious food prepared with care. This is by far the best miso I have ever had. We were there late and the bento was sold out (great reason to return!) so we had onigiri. We tried 4 different kids and they were all distinct and excellent. There are a couple of tables inside and a fire pit outside.

Such a sweet spot with kind owners and thoughtful, healthy food. Well-balanced flavors with sensible portions. It is definitely smaller by American sizing, but it was perfect for us. We traveled up to Seattle twice from NV over the past year and have visited each time. Looking forward to coming back again!

The new authentic Japanese bento place is open in Chophouse Row in Capitol Hill! Their signature bento is Enzyme brown rice with some delicious veggie & fish or meat dishes🍱 I tried several items, and they were all good! Especially I liked the Enzyme brown rice Ohagi & Amazake👍🏼 It supposed to be really good for your body and gut health!!
Mocha R — Google review
The location is tucked in Chophouse Row, right behind Meetea Cafe. I had the Bento Box with brown rice. Each item had its own seasoning and the rice was cooked perfectly! The owner was so nice and also the box was packed so neatly. 🍱 Looking forward to visiting again!

Found Anbai on one of my walks around Cap Hill. It’s a small, unassuming little place with both amazing service, atmosphere and food. I had the Ton Jiru (Pork & Vegetable) miso soup, and it was delicious. The owner recommended that I add shichimi pepper (Japanese 7 spice) and it complemented the soup so well. I also bought an enzyme rice onigiri, which was made fresh. Overall the ingredients and quality of the food was so fresh and healthy. I’m so glad that Cap Hill now has authentic/traditional Japanese cuisine. Looking forward to trying their bentos soon!
Kyrie S — Google review
This place is so cute, and they have such healthy options! This is some of the most authentic Japanese food I’ve seen in Seattle. It’s easy to find sushi or ramen spots but this homemade bento is a hidden gem in Chophouse Row. I can’t wait to go back. They were also accommodating of my adzuki allergy. They’re very accommodating which isn’t always the case in Japanese cuisine. Plus the food is delicious!
Geneva P — Google review
Omg this bento makes me SO HAPPY! So pretty to look at and you get little bits of everything and they're all delicious!!! It reminds me of the fancy department style deli you get in Tokyo. I'm a huge Amazake fan and so glad to have a place I can come get a homemade one in Seattle!!! The store is tucked inside a cute building and has seating areas. I'll be back.

Absolutely phenomenal food. I stumbled across this place as I was in the co-working space in the building and I'm so glad I did. It's really tucked away in the back of Chophouse Row but worth seeking out. I had two of the brown rice onigiri and the veg miso soup and everything was incredible. That enzyme brown rice is magical!
