Historic Sites
Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA is a vast military cemetery that holds great historical significance. It features the eternal flame at JFK's gravesite, the Memorial Amphitheater, and the Tomb of the Unknowns. The cemetery serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals in service to their nation. Visitors can also explore other notable attractions in Washington, DC such as the White House, Smithsonian Museums, National Archives, and National Zoo.
No single quote encapsulates the beauty of Arlington better than JFK's "This is one of the really beautiful places on earth. I could stay here forever." The cemetery is truly remarkable and is a must see if you visit DC. The highlights of course are the JFK gravesite and the tomb of the unknown soldier, but spend some time soaking exploring and remembering those who died for this country.

Absolutely amazing experience! Used the old town trolly tram tour for Arlington cemetery and it was definitely worth it to get the history and location of key figures. The children (12&7) enjoyed the interaction with the tour guide and seeing the traditions. Changing of the guard was a must see and experience. The property is obviously well maintained and cared for.
Scott — Google review
Honored and humbled to walk among the headstones of those who served for my freedom. The changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier should be seen by all Americans, what a sacrifice and the dedication is amazing.
Shanna B — Google review
Words do not do justice to the emotions one feels walking through Arlington. Watching the Old Guard stand sentry over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is an absolute honor given to the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom we have today.
Pete C — Google review
Visiting Arlington National Cemetery is a deeply humbling experience — a place where silence speaks of courage, sacrifice, and honor. Each stone tells a story of service and dedication to a nation’s ideals. Walking through these grounds reminds us of the true cost of freedom and the enduring spirit of those who served. May we carry their legacy forward with gratitude and peace.
Sumel C — Google review
First time visiting (as an adult) and I really enjoyed the tram tour. I highly recommend it to just do the full loop as you can see apot wirhkit all thr walking. We only got off on a 2 stops and still saw plenty. Witnessed 2 wreath ceremonies at 12pm - the whole Guard Change was about 15 minutes. They are currently expanding the grounds to allow them more room for burials through 2050/2060. Tram narrator (Charles) was full of information. Tram is open air so when it is cold you will feel the cold air! *Military Pricing for thr Cemetery Tram rides is $10pp up to 4 people I believe.*
Vanessa S — Google review
The highlight of our trip. Wish we had more time to spend here. You really need several hours. The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is an absolute must!
David W — Google review
With the smithsonian closed our family decided to give it a try. It turned out to be the most memorable experience in DC for my parents. The tram was hop on hop off style, all the staff were helpful, polite and informative. The tour guides on the trams we're very informative energetic and nice. One house/or museum was not open but the entire experience was still pleasant because most monuments were outside. The most special was changing of the guards ceremony. At the end of the tour they handed out red poppy for all of us. Parking was 3$ an hour.

Parks
Theodore Roosevelt Island, a park dedicated to the 26th President of the United States, offers a serene escape from city life. Situated in the Potomac River, this wilderness preserve features hiking trails leading to a 17-foot bronze statue of Roosevelt. Visitors can immerse themselves in nature and contemplate quotes from his writings inscribed on granite monoliths surrounding the statue. The island provides an accessible retreat from the hustle and bustle of Washington D.C.
Absolutely gorgeous park just across from the Kennedy center in DC. It took me about 20 minutes to arrive from Navy Yard when there was traffic. There is a decent amount of parking if you go during an off-hour around mid day as well as a bike path that connects to it. The trail itself is well maintained and easy to navigate. There were so many birds, bees and other critters enjoying the park alongside walkers, it felt like the city was miles away instead of just next door. I love coming here to walk, listen to the sounds of nature, and clear my head during the week. It is truly a DMV treasure!
Gabriella I — Google review
16MAY2025 The parking lot had a bit of empty spacey and the walk from the lot to the island was nice. The trail was good and easy. Great day out with my mate. We had a delicious lunch and drinks. The nature around us was beautiful.
Spiral T — Google review
One of my favorite DMV hideaways and celebrates one of my favorite presidents. Just across the Potomac from Georgetown and nestled next to Arlington, this oasis of nature is a great spot for short but beautiful hikes and yet you still get plenty of “forest-bathing” —we did some birding and even saw deer on the island!
Fin D — Google review
Excellent park, plenty of trails and shaded areas with excellent views across the water. Plan your parking well though! Not a lot of spots and they go very quick. The only restrooms are near the parking lot, and are your typical portapotty situation. There are several water fountains throughout the park, however. Highly recommend, overall!
Micah C — Google review
Great walking trail. Parking lot gets full but don't be tempted to park on the grass unless you want to get a parking ticket.
Maria — Google review
The Theodore Roosevelt Island park has beautiful views and lots of flora and fauna. The memorial itself is set deep in the woods and pays a great tribute to Roosevelt. I think that the fountains have fallen into deep neglect. We all noticed that the water was not running. The only water in any of the fountains was from rainwater and was fouled from tree limbs and leaves. I found pictures of the same fountains from 2022 and they were in the same condition then. It seems that the Park Service has decided to not maintain the fountains, which is a shame.
Dan N — Google review
Pedestrian only - I love it. Very relaxing to walk. Have bathroom and water refill stations.
Piggly W — Google review
Beautiful hiking trails with absolutely stunning views. Many many parking spots/spaces are available. It was such a great spot for a hike with my husband and children too. Maybe mile and a half just walking around the island.

Gravelly Point Park is a hidden gem nestled along the Potomac River, just a stone's throw from Reagan National Airport. This scenic peninsula offers an incredible vantage point for watching planes take off and land, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. With its paved trails perfect for walking or biking, as well as ample grassy areas ideal for picnics with friends or family, Gravelly Point provides a unique blend of relaxation and excitement.
Beautiful place to hangout and watch the planes take off/land. It’s right off of a busy running/biking trail with awesome views of DC. Perfect for a date or picnic. Was closed today due to the horrific plane crash last night😢💔
Tim B — Google review
This is my son’s favorite place in the entire world. The plans come often and it’s an amazing view especially if they are landing. We take everyone not form Here out here especially during this time of the year. When they’re taking off, we get a spot near the water, feed the ducks and run as the planes take off overheard. It’s the perfect way to spend an evening and my son makes sure we spend an evening here at least 2/4 times a week. You can do almost anything you want here except fly a kite. We fully plan on having his birthday party here in the fall.
Ashanti T — Google review
This is one of the best outdoor spots in the DMV. Gravelly Point is truly unique — where else can you lay out a picnic while commercial jets roar overhead, just a few hundred feet above? It never gets old. It’s a fantastic place for families, aviation enthusiasts, bikers, joggers, or anyone who just wants to relax by the river. I usually bike in on the Mount Vernon Trail or drive — just be aware the lot fills up fast on weekends. The plane noise is intense (and honestly, awesome), but might be a bit much for young kids — ear protection is a smart move. Bring a blanket or some chairs and enjoy the show. Only real downside: the restroom situation. Just porta-potties, and they’re inconsistent at best. Still worth it for the experience. ✅ Free parking ✅ Best plane-spotting experience around ✅ Open fields + incredible views of the D.C. skyline ❌ Only portable restrooms ❌ Weekend crowds can get heavy Highly recommend. It’s not exactly hidden, but every time I go, it still feels like a secret worth sharing.
Ravi S — Google review
What a beautiful place to watch the planes land and take off from Reagan national airport. It is especially nice during sunset hours but It does get very crowded here. There are porta potties nearby If you really have to go. You can see the Washington monument and capital from here.
Thu-Nga M — Google review
I normally drive here on my way home but decided walk instead via Mount Vernon trail in Crystal City. It took about 25 minutes. Just be mindful of the bike riders. Stay as far to the right so, you don't get run over because people will be riding fast!
Xali W — Google review
📍 Location: Just off the George Washington Parkway, next to Reagan National Airport 🅿️ Parking: Plenty of parking on weekdays, but weekends can get crowded and spots fill up fast 🚴 Trails: Excellent access to the Mount Vernon Trail — perfect for biking, running, or walking ✈️ Planespotting: Unbeatable spot to watch planes take off and land at Reagan Airport — incredibly close and loud in the best way 🌳 Space: Lots of open grassy space for picnics, playing, or relaxing 🪑 Downside: No public benches or chairs, so bring your own seating or a blanket 🌞 Vibe: Scenic, exciting, and lively — great for families, tourists, or aviation enthusiasts ✅ Overall: Awesome spot for outdoor fun and plane-watching — just plan ahead for parking and bring your own seating!
Hamidullah K — Google review
If you’re ever in Washington D.C., this is a must place is a must! You don’t even have to be an airplane lover, there’s just something thrilling about seeing the jets roar just over your head!
Rebecca B — Google review
This is a great spot for plane spotting at Regan airport. On the day of our visit, the planes were landing over Gravelly Point. The kids loved this! There is a paved walking trail, port a potty’s and a ton of space to hang out. The Potomac river is also there to walk down to the water. Such a great park!

Located in the Ballston neighborhood, MedStar Capitals Iceplex is a premier 2-rink ice sports center situated on top of the Ballston Common Mall parking garage. It serves as the official training facility for the NHL's Washington Capitals and offers a variety of programs including public skating, figure skating, and hockey classes throughout the year. Visitors can watch the Capitals' practices for free and even pick up some team gear at the on-site store.
I wanted to share our experience at MedStar over the past four years. Our oldest son was eager to start skating and playing hockey at just five years old, so we enrolled him in skating classes followed by the "Learn to Play" program. Both programs were exceptional, seamlessly blending fun with instruction during every minute of ice time. By the time he was six, he was ready to join the house league. It became clear how much his interest in the sport had grown, largely due to the positive experiences we all had throughout this journey. Today, he’s playing travel hockey with the Caps Academy, enjoying every moment and forming lifelong friendships, even as we embark on the sometimes exhausting trips together. I want to give a special thanks to Ben Kwon of the hockey department. He has been exceptional with my son both on and off the ice. His mentorship and instruction has made my son a better player and young person.
Alan P — Google review
First time visiting today and I was informed no headphones on the ice due to safety reason. I’m a former collegiate hockey player and you are worried about my attention yet you allow children and adults to skate freely in any direction and without regard to others safety. Fortunately the military will only have me here for 3 years so I’ll be going to Fairfax Ice Arena from here on out.
ACMe — Google review
First time here. Not intuitive how to reach it. Is at the top of the ballston mall. Hoping to see the legend Ovechkin 🤩🤩🤩
Luigi V — Google review
My son has a on ice practice 2 a week, it’s to small. But his team regularly play games. We love it, hockey it’s a hard sport for strong boys and girls. Welcome to Caps Academy.
Ruslan A — Google review
While the facility is clean it’s not particularly well run. During the summer unsupervised children at skate camp run wild through the building with hockey sticks and playing games at the peril of everyone around them. During the hockey season it’s not much better. The rink is also full of kids who are unattended, not paying attention to others and it’s dangerous. The skate director made all the LTS classes during the week which is hard for paying adults to attend. I know that at least 4 people asked about weekend classes but they were not accommodated and many more just put up their skates because they couldn’t make it. It’s overall just okay and if there were more options this wouldn’t even be a place to consider.
J N — Google review
Great venue! They host Caps practice and numerous other ice related sports like synchronized, figure, and recreational skating. Parking is reasonable in the garage at just a buck for 3 hours. As of this post there's construction taking place in the complex but doesn't negatively impede the experience. Should be even better when completed.

I've purchased most of my hockey gear from this pro shop since 2014, and always have been satisfied. Rudy and his colleagues are knowledgeable, patient, friendly, low-pressure, and add a professional touch to the shop. They also price matched and then some for Black Friday to make sure I received the best value on a new hockey stick. My sincere thanks and highest rating!

Potomac Overlook Regional Park is a sprawling 70-acre park located in Arlington, Virginia, bordering the Potomac River. It features a nature center with live animals and educational exhibits, as well as an organic garden and outdoor venue for summer concerts. The park offers numerous hiking trails through pristine wooded areas, including Donaldson Run and Windy Run leading to the river. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere while exploring the expansive grounds or attending educational programs for both children and adults.
My favorite local park. Lots to do for kids, lots of trails, basketball/tennis. Great park to stroll, picnic, walk to Potomac heritage trail for real workout.

Somewhat good trail with good elevation in some parts… and I admit the trail to the potomac is interesting… but it isn’t well marked and makes you feel nervous
David K — Google review
Come if this is your thing: sounds of birds chirping, cicadas buzzing, and streams lapping. Surprisingly picturesque trails, though be ready for some ups and downs near the river. Hikers are very friendly. Parking is easy on the weekends and the public restrooms are very well maintained. Thumbs up for everything! 👍👍👍
M H — Google review
Potomac Overlook Regional Park is an absolute gem of a park in Virginia it offers a wide variety of recreational activities for individuals and families alike. As someone who has visited the park multiple times, I can confidently say that it is one of my favorite outdoor destinations in the area. The park is nestled in a picturesque setting and boasts numerous hiking trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding natural landscape. These trails are well-maintained and cater to all levels of hikers, from beginners to more experienced outdoor enthusiasts. The park also features a nature center that offers a range of educational programs and exhibits about the local flora and fauna, making it an excellent destination for families with children. One of the things I love most about Potomac Overlook Regional Park is the abundance of picnic areas and open spaces that make it a perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon with friends or family. Whether you're looking to play some sports, enjoy a picnic lunch, or simply take a stroll, there is something for everyone here. Another highlight of the park is the impressive overlook that provides breathtaking views of the Potomac River and surrounding area. It's the perfect spot to take in a beautiful sunset or enjoy a peaceful moment of solitude. Overall, I would highly recommend Potomac Overlook Regional Park to anyone looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's a well-maintained and well-loved park that offers something for everyone, and I always leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a visit. The children had a great time.

I LOVE nature and all kinds of parks. I walk the trails in this park almost every day to avoid the sun. I just wish they could do better upkeep on the trails. Be careful, there are unmarked and exposed rebar stakes sticking up from rotted out steps. Very dangerous for kids and the many dogs who enjoy the trails. I would even volunteer to help fix things.
Chris H — Google review
This is a hidden gem park in the neighborhood. Nice for trekking and family picnic. However parking is very limited so better come early in the morning to get a parking spot.
Teddy A — Google review
The trails down to the river are in okay condition, but you have to be pretty nimble since erosion reshapes the streams rather frequently. There is a fair bit of trash around the good picnic spots and fishing holes along the river.
Alison R — Google review
It should remove 'overlook' from its title but other than that, it is easy to walk around and navigate. The view has changed quite a bit since the inception of the park. You can NOT see the Potomac from any viewpoint that we traversed today. There were several noisy school groups on the paths in the woods; but also a pleasant surprise of the rescued owls and falcon. That was neat to see. The paths were not that difficult and we pretty much wandered around for an hour with no problems. I would have liked a bit harder terrain but this was nice after our more rigorous hike yesterday. There is a nature center here and the parking was pretty decent. Bathrooms available too. I would recommend this for running about as well as easy hiking.

Shopping mall
Ballston Quarter, formerly known as Ballston Mall, has been revitalized into a vibrant shopping center with a modern indoor-outdoor space. The renovated complex features a variety of stores, a food court offering diverse dining options, and a movie theater for entertainment. Additionally, the area boasts sit-down restaurants showcasing local chefs and a lively food hall serving everything from street tacos to craft brews.
Cool area, very clean and sleek. You can find lots of cool stores and restaurants. Half the mall is outdoor, nice views and fresh air Enjoy!

This shopping center is located in the heart of the downtown area. It offers a pleasant and well-maintained environment with various dining options and eateries. However, there are many vacant spots in the building. Macy's used to be located here but is no longer present. The building also includes a spacious fitness gym and other retail establishments. On weekends, the area becomes lively due to restaurants and bars.
Patrick M — Google review
Good food court, good structure, good couple of anchors (like Regal Cinema), but that's about it. They are suffering from high tenant vacancies. it's gotten so bad that they must have turned the ac way up. I'm sweating as I type this. 🥵💦 Think of the poor ____ doing _____ in this heat. 🫠
Liyang S — Google review
We had a nice lunch at the True Food Kitchen. I had the all American burger and my other family members had vegan dishes. Everyone was happy with their meals. Restaurant decor was innovative and casual.
Brian K — Google review
This is being remodeled and even though it was a rainy day, there were a lot of people eating. If you can't decide what you want, or have a hankering for something different, this the place to go. There are so many unique choices to chose from. Most of the chains are unheard of except for chi-fil-a. We had a fun time trying foods we never had
Dennis S — Google review
Since we moved to Fairfax, VA we're slowly exploring new places and restaurants. So today we went to 'Ballston Quarter Mall' in Arlington, VA. I'm not impressed with this mall - it's DEAD however it was not your regular mall. The only anchor store was Macy's but not enough popular stores/boutiques that we are familiar with. The food court did not have your usual food court stores, instead it was a combination of fewer high restaurants and low. The higher restaurants like: 'Kung Fun Tea and JINYA Ramen Bar' are hidden around the down stairs going to the street I noticed only 2 tables with people. Outside the mall Mezeh, Rice Crook, Go Poke ... The mall has an indoor and outdoor layout. The indoor is full of empty seats to relax with painted murals and plants. The outdoor/patio is green with some restaurants and places to look at the street. Definitely they need to get more stores or revamp this mall to attract more people, because I don't see any future there. Basically the mall doesn't have a lot to do other than the Regal Theater, or go to the gym. The only good thing is the parking for $1 for 3 hours, very inexpensive for Northern Virginia. There's no reason to go back there!
Rhônya O — Google review
Ballston Quarter is in a fantastic location—convenient, lively, and easy to get to. The food court is definitely the highlight, offering a great variety of dining options from quick bites to sit-down meals. It’s a great spot to grab lunch or meet up with friends for a casual dinner. That said, the retail and store selection is a bit underwhelming. If you’re looking to do serious shopping, this might not be the place. It feels more like a hangout or food destination than a full-fledged shopping mall. Still, it’s a clean, modern space with a nice vibe—worth visiting for the eats and atmosphere alone.
Sherief A — Google review
Confusing layout, confusing parking, poor signage. Have now been to this place three times and every time we've gone we've had an issue trying to find what we're looking for. I dropped my two teenage boys off to go to the skating rink as per the location on google maps, but they couldn't figure out how to find a skating rink because of poor signage. Elevators said they were only for residents. They arrived late to their activity have been given plenty of time to try to find it. On a more recent occasion, I had to drop off my son for a party at one of the venues there. He got so frustrated trying to find it, he called and just wanted to be picked up and not even attend the party. On the first occasion, we were asked to come take a look at a display. We were trying to figure out parking which was a nightmare eventhough it is inexpensive. I do not want to download an app to use at just one parking location and then be constantly spammed with notifications and Spyware. Although there are some interesting restaurants that are primarily fast food type but not chain stores, they won't last long as the mall has largely been dead every time we've gone. Layout is poor, lack of proper signage, confusing parking, and in the downtown of Arlington where street parking is a problem. I have no desire to come back.

Arlington Historical Museum, located in the former Hume School built in 1891, is a treasure trove of local history from Captain John Smith's encounter with the Algonquins to modern times. The museum boasts an extensive collection of over 350,000 artifacts dating back to 1608 and even offers virtual exhibits for further exploration. Additionally, visitors can explore the Ball-Sanders historic museum house operated by the historical society.
On June 24th, a Saturday, I was given a day off. As a Part Timer getting a day off on a weekend was something that happened, maybe, once a month. I was very pleased because it meant I could go see the Arlington History Museum. Now its hours were from 1 PM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday. So I planned to see others thing during the early hours and have lunch at noon at Pentagon City. In fact I visited the nearby park, library, and the DEA Museum. Then, after lunch, tried to walk to the Hume School I tried to use my phone to map out a pathway to the museum and it kind of worked right up to when the Google Map stopped working. I guess there are Wi-Fi blind spots? So I ended up taking a long way around, following streets, till I got to the museum about 15 minutes before opening. I didn’t know about the stairs until later. I took some photos - the area is very nice and I love the tiny library. And then found some shade. When the staff showed she went right to the gate of the building and….have problems with the lock. It didn’t wish to work. I waited 29 minutes on a bench while she, and a co-worker who showed up later, called everybody they knew to try to solve the issue. IT wasn’t they were using the wrong code. It was the lock - one of the buttons didn’t wish to work. So after being told it might take another 29 minutes I decided to come back another time. I was told that next time I should call ahead and make sure the museum is open. Well, at least the stairs made the return to the metro easier. But now I have a problem. I don’t know when my next free weekend will be. Also it takes about an hour and a half to go from my condo to the museum. At best. So next time do I call them and then get to the museum with barely enough time to enjoy? I know it does not take long to go through but I am a reader. Or next time just show up around 1 PM and hope the same thing does not happen? The staff was nice but I still have to give a two out of five. Also the hidden stairway that goes up and down the hill starts at the west end of 16th street. For those of you who don’t wish to hike all over like I did. The street starts near the Virginia Highlands Park which is a good center of operations if visiting the area. Update - On the 2nd of September I was able to visit again. It was open early and there was two gentlemen, one elderly one and one young one, both who knew a lot of the history. And I even got to ring the school bell. And, yes, I found two pricy books I could not live without. So I had to give it five stars. As you see I also had to add to the photos.

This is a fantastic small, local museum with some amazing artifacts and incredible local volunteers who are eager to help visitors maximize their time. My favorite piece is the former roof spire of the 19th? century jail. If you look closely you can see the long ago holes likely made by a shotgun fired from the ground. You can tell this by looking at the entry and exit holes. Only a few pellets went all the way through the spire! I wonder if anyone knows that story?? Check the place out!

Former Volunteer. I helped out a small group to sort out artefacts in 2019. I don’t know how the society is surviving through the pandemic because when I was there helping at the most 2 people from the General public came to see it. Its a nice small museum but I’m a native born Arlingtonian and I didn’t know it existed until 2019 and that’s sad since every Arlingtonian should know where there history is located but its also pathetic that the museum is only open weekends for 3 hours that is just sad. The society needs to do a better job of advertising where they are located so more people will know where it is

The Pentagon, located south of Arlington Cemetery, is the world's largest office building and serves as the headquarters for the United States Department of Defense, Army, Navy, and Air Force. The Pentagon Memorial outside honors the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. Visitors can book free guided tours online with proper ID and reservations must be made well in advance.
Not allowed to do much photography, have to walk away from the building to get any good shots/permission to snap a pic. Obviously, the security was next level. Even getting off the train there were guards at the top of the escalators at checkpoints pointing tourists away from the staff entrance. There was a guy on the train platform with a rifle, Pentagon Police. Wanted to shoot a pic but didn't want him to shoot me! 😱
David K — Google review
I've taken the tour 3 times and I always see new parts of the building which is nice! The tour guides are very friendly and are happy to answer (reasonable) questions. Security is stringent but friendly. The appointment confirmation always says you have to be there an hour before your tour, but if you get there 40 minutes before you're totally fine too. And oh, it's usually quite cold in the building (even in the summer) so make sure you bring a sweater!

Our visit to the pentagon was for the ribbon cutting dedication ceremony for a statue depicting the famous handshake between French General Foch and US General John J Pershing after their cooperative service that ended World War I… The event was dignified by members of both military organizations along with members of General Pershing’s family in attendance…

Great tour. The outside 9-11 memorial is amazing. A very somber moment for our whole group.

This place is very mediocre. The landscaping is really nice but the people are not. The food choices are impressive but the smelly bathrooms are not. The gym is decent and parking is nonexistent unless you’re an Army General or Politician. The Pentagon Force Protection Agency should be avoided at all costs. Not because they have guns but because on three occasions this year I’ve found those guns to have their safeties in the “Fire” position while the cops are just relaxed and checking IDs. Maybe it’s a training thing but this is very dangerous and doesn’t seem in line with the responsibilities of protecting the Pentagon.

The Air Force Memorial, located on Air Force Memorial Drive near Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon, is a 270-foot monument with three towering spires dedicated to honoring past and present members of the U.S. Air Force. Designed by James Ingo Freed, it opened in 2006 and offers panoramic views of Washington D.C., making it an exceptional spot to watch the sunset.
Don’t let the current construction deter you from stopping by this stunning memorial! Take time to reflect and read the names of airmen honored through the years. Definitely worth a visit!

This is my first time visiting this monument, and it is absolutely stunning in person! The grounds are kept so beautiful and there’s flowers all around. The only thing that stunk about this monument is there so much construction going on behind that every time you took a picture or I wanna take a picture of the city as it’s overlooking all you saw was construction and dug up ground. This is a monument you won’t forget and the one you see in person you can’t believe how massive it is.

The Air Force Memorial is one of the newer monuments in the D.C. area, but it is still a great one to visit. The pillars that it consists of are stunning, and the grounds are very well kept as well. I highly recommend this monument if you're bored and looking for something to do in the D.C area.

I was fortunate enough to be selected to participate in laying there wreath at the Tomb Of The Unknown Solider, which is what brought me to the DC area. I took this opportunity to visit the Air Force Memorial. We actually stopped by to watch the fireworks from the hillside as well. It's an awesome tribute to the Air Force. They can be proud of this place.

Such a lovely memorial in the shape of the trail of Air Force jets. The view is spectacular and there is a wonderful breeze, which is quite fitting. I don't think many make it out here but it is worth the taxi ride, especially if you are already at Arlington Cemetery, the Marine Corps Memorial, or the Pentagon. Not sure if Arlington Cemetery or Pentagon City Metro is the closest but definitely visit. It is also associated with the 9/11 Memorial at the Pentagon. Markers for those who died on the plane point towards this Memorial, while markers for those who died in the Pentagon point toward the building. It's worth visiting for that connection alone. You won't be disappointed.

As a retired Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer, I was so proud visiting this gorgeous monument for the first time! It's just beautiful with a seating area for presentations. It's also beautiful in it's simplicity. On Sunday, September 21st, approximately 272 members of the Air Force Cycling Team (and others) were led to the Memorial on our bicycles by CSAF General Allvin. It was an awe inspiring event and I'm so proud the Air Force has a memorial befitting such honor.

Beautiful sights. Went there when they had a concert going on and the bells played new and old music that everyone knew. It was a great time. I was extremely impressed by this local theatre. The set was beautiful, the performers gave the audience a real show. There’s a bar with drinks of course and some snacks. The parking in Shirlington can be tricky on a nice evening, but there’s a convenient parking garage.

Visitor Centers
The DEA Museum & Visitors Center, located in an unassuming office building in Arlington, offers an immersive journey through the history of drug enforcement in America. Originally established from a collection of narcotics law enforcement badges, the museum has evolved into an interactive learning environment with hands-on activities and exhibits. Visitors can explore the agency's milestones over the past 50 years, gain insight into how special agents carry out their work, and study the evolving trends in drug use alongside societal changes.
It’s a very small and hidden away museum that is deeply haunting but definitely worth checking out. Keep in mind though that it’s in the actual DEA building so it requires a short security screening and A visitor badge in order to get in. Like it’s nothing super invasive like a background check or a cavity search, just showing your ID and getting your bag Xrayed. A little more high security than the Smithonian but a little less than the Airport. Still despite its small size I totally recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. It’s an intriguing little oddity hidden in the DMV area.
Willku9000 — Google review
A wonderful free exhibit for ages mature 8-10 and up. Plan on 1-2 hours to see everything. Make sure to bring picture ID. There were many interactive exhibits for all age groups providing information on how DEA got started and how it grew to keep up with the changing times use of drugs, awareness programs created, and ways they helped eliminate many illegal drugs coming into the country. A must see hidden gem.
Jackie P — Google review
Neat little side museum to visit. The exhibits tell you about the different types of illegal drugs and show examples in each category. They recently added a Fentanyl Memorial Wall in the lobby.
FreeRoam B — Google review
Small museum with tons of information. Went with a field trip with young marines. My kids 10&13 enjoyed it. We learned a lot! museum is more geared to older population younger kids would most likely not enjoy it. However as an adult I did
Jenna F — Google review
I enjoyed this museum, but felt it could have delved deeper into other functions of the DEA. A lot of wall space was dedicated to 4 specific illicit drugs/drug classes -- opiates, cocaine, marijuana, and synthetics. The focus of the museum was primarily on illicit distribution and use of drugs. There was minimal education about how the DEA interacted with legitimate prescribing of and use of drugs schedules II through V. Overall it was informative and there were several ways they made the material interactive. I do think the museum gift shop was underdeveloped -- they could sell some cool stuff there! It's the freaking Drug Enforcement Agency -- there are plenty of books written about catching drug dealers, busting drug cartels... And for kids, what happened to all the "Say No to Drugs" swag that used to be around? I'm sure it's not a priority to beef up the gift shop, but if you're paying to staff it, you might as well try to move some merch. I will say though, that in order to get into the museum, you have to go through security, which is normal and happens at a lot of museums, especially in DC... But for some reason I kept setting off the metal detector alarm, so I had to get a TSA-style pat down in order to enter.
Jill W — Google review
Very interesting place to visit. A lot of facts and things to learn about drugs and how they affect our communities.. they have a wall with pictures of people who were lost because of this horrible epidemic. It was very sad..
Angelamatt101 — Google review
This is a FREE museum that is located in DEA Headquarters. We came with a group and were able to hear from some really cool speakers, former agent, fingerprint specialist, forensic scientist etc The museum is not large but that is what I like about it, there is plenty to see and lots of pamphlets to take home but it can also be a shorter visit for little kids. Definitely sobering but it did make me realize I need to talk to my kids early about some of these topics than I had planned. The wall of deaths due to fentanyl was very sad.
Marcia C — Google review
The museum itself is very small. It's inside the DEA building. Have to show ID and then go through metal detectors, but I think it's worth it. The faces of fentanyl pictures on the wall were eye opening to see. So were the pictures of the fallen DEA agents through the years. I think the museum is done well. I would recommend it!

Give the Impasta and Ravenhook stalls a sure try. Atwaters has good bread and cheese too. Fresh produce stalls are always dependable. The burrito stall had long lines but is worth the wait.

Plenty of vendors, probably 5-6 fresh produce but these vendors are stealing from people with their prices. i mean absolutely outrageous prices. Save your money and go to a grocery store. Don’t be lured in by the flowers, they’re also way over priced for wild flowers. It was nice to come down and walk around and I saw 1 vendor with reasonable prices. Appeared the food stands were also decent. But the produce, sourdough, and flowers were incredibly over priced.

I used to come here a lot. Unfortunately, it’s getting overcrowded nowadays. Parking has been stressful given how busy they are. Although this could be a good thing for the business, the service has deteriorated quite much. Today I went to a peach vender nearby the entrance. The vendor guy was incredibly rude and basically yelled at me for coming at 12. I understand that he wants go home soon, but I don’t think that’s how customers should be treated. Being a loyal customer for years, this is the trigger event that I will never ever come back again. If you don’t like stress on Saturdays, consider not going!

This is my go-to restaurant in Arlington! Anytime I have friends or family visiting, I always bring them here. Last night’s dinner was especially amazing. Our server, Nikola, went above and beyond with his service, making the evening even better. My friends and I ordered a variety of dishes to share (as you can see in the photo), and everything was delicious. The pizza and truffle fries are always my staples, but I tried the mac and cheese for the first time—and I’m still dreaming about it! Highly recommend!

I have gone to liberty tavern before for dinner, and they have great pizza, drinks, and appetizers, so when I went to brunch yesterday- I knew it was going to be good. My expectations were exceeded by all means necessary. We got unlimited brunch and here were some of my favorites: the deviled eggs, chicken parm, chicken biscuit, the meatballs, pimento cheese dip, the steak, the Cesar salad, and especially the mini grilled cheese with soup. Our server (I think his name was Nick but I may be mistaken) was so kind, polite, and attentive. I almost went back today because I woke up craving the food. Big variety for the unlimited drink menu as well which is refreshing for a brunch place in Arlington! I wish I took more pictures of the food but unfortunately the phone did not eat first. Will be back for brunch again soon! (Dinner is also delicious but my socks were blown off for brunch)

My experience at the Liberty Tavern was nice. I had the field green salad and french fries. Let’s start with my faveeeee .. I love me some French fries and these did not disappoint! They were crunchy and seasoned to perfection! The chipotle sauce they served with them I was not a fan of but the ketchup was 🤏🏽! The salad was different .. I had the grains and greens and there wasn’t that many chickpeas in the salad and the labneh added a different taste, like the labneh wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either .. 🤷🏽‍♀️, could be my tastebuds haha. The star of my meal was the fries and I would go back again just for the fries alone lol. Our server was kind and attentive. She kept our drinks filled and our table was cleared fast too as we sat after eating and chatted. Also - sidenote, I ended up in the chair that Barack Obama sat in when he visited!

Interesting place with a lot of potential but the quality of food doesn't make up for the blandness. So, it's fresh, care is taken by the cooking staff, but seasoned for grandpa & grandpa. The real issue is just how loud it is. Almost impossible to talk during brunch.

Overall a nice place. Went for a comedy show which was great. The office chairs are comfy and the wait staff friendly. Did not order any food or drink other than cups of water, but the smell of the food nearby wasn’t giving us any push to order. The burger someone ordered reminded me of school cafeteria food sadly by smell and look. The popcorn oil / butter needs changing - it smelled stale and old. The overall vibe is a very relaxed one and there was parking out back near the McDs and lots of food choices nearby.

Worn but effective cabaret style set up, good to see classic theater put to goid use. Understand it's a tough venue for stage performances, as, as an old movie theater, it wasn't constructed with a backstage area.
Rjpeltzsteele — Google review
Rachel Feinstein show was great! Reasonably priced tickets and I appreciated being able to move tickets to another night when a scheduling conflict arose. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Older venue but chairs were comfortable and view of stage was good. Food was fine. Nice experience. Thank you!
Liz T — Google review
Overall the venue is disappointing. The furniture, chairs and bathrooms are all very old and run down. The food is average at best (although the pretzels are great) and the service is spotty. Our waitress was very disorganized, seemed confused and struggled to input basic orders into her tablet. There is also a lack of a security presence to keep patrons and talent safe. Ownership really needs to put some money into a large scale renovation if they plan to attract good clients.
William G — Google review
Was just here for a comedy show. The whole food situation in there is trash. Servers approaching patrons throughout the show to take orders and with the SLOWEST service ever. Waited for over 10 minutes for a simple order of chips, asked for a refund, and was told I would get them "on the house." Guess what was on the bill? And guess what will be disputed by the bank? Great show but LEAVE THIS LOCATION BE, ARTISTS!! Would give 0 stars for the service if I could. The actually show is what saved this place. Will not be returning and will be telling everyone I know to avoid.

It was good to see the draft house is still here and still a place for comfy seats while being entertained. Michael Kosta was funny and even let us take photos (and quick chat) with him afterwards. The prices for drinks and food are a bit elevated but I recommend eating dinner somewhere else. Stick to snacks.

Amazing local park with lots of activities. There are trails for casual walks. The pool is so much fun and you should definitely go there. $10 per person is worth the cost. The miniature golf is great and only $7. This is an amazing resource for the community.

Charming putt putt golf course that is fun for kids and still challenging for adults. Beautiful scenery that is well maintained and reasonable prices as well. There is also a zip line course, batting cages and a water park in the same park area.

Fun times. The pool was crowded. However, the children enjoyed themselves. The adults had fun playing mini golf. The fun ended early when the clouds opened up and it poured down rain.

First, the line was one third the length of the competitions. The price was extremely competitive. No overcrowding; including other excellent attractions on campus. You will find the Restrooms and showers adiquat. There is plenty of seating in and out including a reasonably sized tanning lawn and picnic area . And you children will have an amazing experience in the Sun or Shade. See you there!😁 PS. Parking is amazing & staff were professional and just generally nice friendly people...

Fun place and great for kids and families. I played putt putt with some friends and had a great time. I do wish they would repair the course and make some updates. I look forward to going back for the rope course on a cooler day.

Gorgeous park that offers a variety of activities including Frisbee golf, an intricate playground for small children, a paved trail for running/biking/walking and plenty of picnic tables. It's a very calming area located next to a flowing river. It's a great temporary getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There is a large free parking lot located at the entrance of the park. There are no restrooms located in the park. Dogs are allowed in the park and on the paved trails but must be leashed at all times.

Nestled just across from Bluemont, the Bon Air Park Rose Garden is a picturesque haven for nature lovers and photographers alike. This enchanting garden boasts an impressive collection of over 120 varieties of roses, showcasing a vibrant palette of colors that bloom beautifully from May to August, with June being the peak time for viewing. The formal gardens are not only adorned with stunning rosebushes but also feature ornamental trees that enhance its charm.
We found great pleasure in observing the diverse selection of flowers within the garden. My family and I enjoyed our picnic here as well.

Bon Air Park Rose Garden really is a hidden gem—especially if you’ve never been before. Even on a hot summer day, it was beautiful. I can only imagine how stunning it must be in the spring when everything’s in full bloom or during a crisp, colorful fall afternoon. While the heat made it a bit tough to linger, strolling through the garden and taking in all the vibrant colors was still absolutely worth the visit. It’s a peaceful spot that’s perfect for a quiet walk or a quick break from the bustle of the day.
Angela B — Google review
We’re lucky to live just a 15-minute walk from this rose garden, so my family and I come here often. 🌹 The variety of roses is stunning—especially in summer when everything is in full bloom. It’s a perfect spot for photos, whether it’s fall scenery, family portraits, or just a quiet moment surrounded by flowers. The garden is well-maintained, clean, and peaceful, with so many different rose varieties to admire. Highly recommend it as a relaxing weekend destination to enjoy nature and unwind with loved ones.

Bon Air Park Rose Garden A beautiful hidden gem in Arlington! If you love roses or just want a peaceful stroll surrounded by flowers, Bon Air Park Rose Garden is a must-visit. The rose collection is incredibly well maintained, with hundreds of varieties in full bloom during the season. I was especially impressed by how fragrant and vibrant everything looked—clearly a lot of care goes into this space. It’s not a huge garden, so don’t expect a botanical garden scale, but the setting is charming and relaxing. There are benches throughout, shady paths nearby, and a lovely garden of perennials adjacent to the roses. It’s a great spot for photography, a quiet moment, or just enjoying nature. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Maya R — Google review
Bon Air Park Rose Garden is an absolutely incredible location! I recently proposed to my fiancée here as part of a surprise proposal, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The roses were all in full bloom, creating a stunning and romantic atmosphere. The park wasn't very crowded, which made the moment even more special for us. The garden is beautifully preserved, with charming archways running through the middle, and there are lovely, shade-covered areas around the garden that make for excellent picnic spots. If you're looking for a picturesque and serene setting, Bon Air Park Rose Garden is the place to go!
Eric K — Google review
Add: During the rose season, this park is beautiful! I stopped by this park at the end of March when roses were not in bloom yet, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. 6/5 stars. We attended on a Sunday, right in time for Music Bingo! It took a little while to get seated as I think they were getting people settled and bingo cards. However, the vibe was perfect! Grace was our server and had us handled! We ordered pineapple mimosa, cajun skillet, and the burger with sweet potato fries. I enjoy the skillet meal. Would return for the activities and try other parts of the menu.

I was visiting the area for work for a conference and someone at the hotel I was staying at mentioned this place for great drinks and food. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I came on a Monday night and they ended up doing monthly Monday night spelling bee. The vibe had a lot of energy and the food was really good. They offer a lot of Monday happy hour specials. I had the rosemary fries which was a ton of food for only $5. I also had the Highway 66 Hibiscus punch which was also only $5. As you walk further into this place, it’s basically like a Barcade, where they have all different kinds of old School arcade games. They had shuffleboard, darts, they even had a small bowling area. On Tuesdays they have trivia. I feel like they have something for everyone.

I had such a great time at Punch Bowl Social! The atmosphere is lively with greats songs. I’ve come in a few times now, and the food never disappoints. The Cauliflower Nachos and the Brussels Sprouts are absolutely delicious, highly recommend both! Special shout out to Luis at the 3rd floor bar. His service is always attentive, and welcoming, which really makes the experience even better. Will always come back!

My friends and I wanted to try a new spot for food and were so happy we stumbled upon this place!!!! The staff 10/10, they were helpful, kind, and overall friendly. The food was AMAZING!!!! The pork nachos, roasted quesadillas, and sliders just start were so good! Not to mention, the drinks were phenomenal! The music was the icing on the cake. I highly recommend coming here with friends!!
Canesha W — Google review
Punch Bowl has always been my go-to spot for small friend gatherings, and this visit didn’t disappoint. I noticed they’ve updated a lot of their games, which was a nice surprise! My friends and I spent most of our time playing foosball, with a few rounds of darts in between. When it comes to food, the wings and fish tacos are top-tier—definitely my premium go-tos. Your overall experience can vary depending on when you go, though. It can sometimes be tricky to find the staff member in charge of the games, but once you do, the vibe is friendly and the staff is welcoming. Surprisingly, this place works well for kids around 6 and up. Any younger than that, and it’s not as fun since most of the games are designed for older, taller players.
Terrell S — Google review
This is a pretty cool place. They have a good variety of games, old school arcade shooting and fighting games, pinball machines, a REAL bowling alley, it’s pretty good. I ordered wings and it took 30 minutes for them to come out, for 6 wings, that’s crazy. Also some of the bartenders take a while to get to their customers, I even heard other people at the bar mentioning that. I played interactive darts that was similar to how Flight Club is but for MUCH cheaper. I wish they had a bigger beer selection. Overall this place is pretty decent, and a good place to visit with friends.

Visitors can explore contemporary collections and enjoy educational programs while admiring thought-provoking pieces. The museum's ambitious exhibits like 'Assembly 2022: Time and Attention' have garnered praise for their quality and storytelling, putting Arlington on the map for art lovers nationwide.
Such a wonderful part of Arlington! The art on display is contemporary and very interesting to view. Their classes are excellent! I took a drawing class this spring and the instructor, Melanie, was fantastic. I am not a natural at drawing but Melanie made it manageable while still challenging us. She was able to adapt really well to moving virtually the last couple of classes due to the pandemic, and I don’t think it diminished the experience.

A peaceful escape from the summer heat — MOCA Arlington is a small but beautifully curated contemporary art space. The exhibits aren’t large in scale, but they’re thoughtfully arranged, allowing you to truly slow down and enjoy each piece. Even better, admission is free, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, adding a warm human touch to the experience. There’s convenient parking right next to the museum, and photography is allowed, so you can capture and cherish your favorite artistic moments. Whether you have 30 minutes, this space offers a gentle pause in your day. Perfect for anyone seeking a calm, refreshing, and inspiring summer visit — a quiet gem in the heart of Arlington.

Just saw the exhibit “Assembly 2022: Time and Attention” and I was blown away. I went in with high expectations and it somehow exceeded them. The pieces were all so thoughtful and thought-provoking, and taken together tell an incredible story of what ideas and questions we’re grappling with as a society. This is the kind of quality that is going to put Arlington on the map for arts lovers across the country.

It was definitely an interesting museum. It’s kinda small but it has some very interesting pieces. I gather exhibits rotate out because nothing i saw in other pictures/Reviews was still there as far as I know. However then again part of it was closed off when I went due to a summer camp field trip or something like that. Still was an interesting museum and intriguing to see what’s actually in this building which I have walked or otherwise gone past many times in my life. I might even come back someday if my artsy girlfriend thinks it sounds fun.

Beautiful little place with many local animals to look at in their mini-zoo. Turtles, snakes, birds, and more. There is also a great play space on the top floor with toys and a puppet theater, and bottom floor has blocks and coloring. Good shade in the summer on the walking trails, and love dipping our feet in the creek to cool off, as well.

I’ve walked through this park many times and stopped by the nature center several times as well. It is a very nice park and the Nature center has multiple live local animals and informative exhibits on the history, plants and animals of the area. A great place to take kids as long as they’re respectful to the animals, particularly the owl outside.
Willku9000 — Google review
I took my son to a toddler class here. First, it’s a one way road going up to the actual nature center and an Arlington County truck almost ran us off the road. When you get there there’s room for a handful of cars and then absolutely nowhere to park so parked in a no parking spot but wasn't blocking anyone/was only there for a 45 minute class. Was told to load my kids back into the car and park a quarter mile down the road. The class had already started. We would have missed half the class and it was not worth it so we left. Not stroller accessible (no ramp, no strollers allowed inside) so really hard for moms with young kids. We had a bad experience. My toddler left in tears because he wanted to visit the nature center--we won't be back.

Gulf Branch Nature Center & Park is a great neighborhood green space. There's a small parking lot by the small nature center that does programming in non-pandemic times. Attached to the center is an outdoor terrace with chairs and a caged area for an owl. Just outside of the nature center is a small pond, a 1871 restored log cabin and an old blacksmith. The US Marine Corps War Memorial, located in Arlington County, Virginia near the Arlington National Cemetery, pays tribute to the Marines who sacrificed their lives in all wars. The memorial features a 60-foot bronze flagpole with figures depicting the iconic moment of raising the American flag on Iwo Jima during World War II. This historical site commemorates significant Marine Corps battles and is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Designed by Horace W.
I uploaded many pictures that were captured in Arlington Virginia and in the DC area. I don't recall which memorial or site each picture was at so I just uploaded many of the memorial pictures that I found.. after 4 days of walking and sightseeing I realize many of the sites are free and there was so much places to go I needed more time.. The Cherry blossom season was just beginning and I wish I was able to stay here another week to see all the festivals that will be happening.

When in DC, make sure to get away from the National Mall and across the Potomac. Closest metro stop is Rosslyn and then a short walk to the memorial. If driving, limited parking is available on site. This memorial is larger than life and strikes a feeling of patriotism seeing the pride our soldiers have had throughout major conflicts and war zones.

Great scenery, the most fascinating thing was the alignment of the War memorial with the Capitol and the DC free standing monument. This single war memorial captures the essence of the US flag and it's importance. A great piece of memory...

The Marine Corps Memorial is not just a monument. It is a reminder of the significance of what it represents.....valour, honour, bravery and sacrifice. It is a place gratitude and reflection. The sheer size will leave you in awe. The detail of the memorial, which captures the flag raising on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima, is stunning! I highly recommend a visit. Semper Fi!
Dan T — Google review
The U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial is a truly awesome monument to visit in the D.C. area. I have especially fond memories here, being a Marine, as I accepted my warrant and commission here, I have run through the monuments for fun, and I finished the 50th Marine Corps Marathon here. The monument is so inspirational and is a testament to the might of Our Great Nation. It stands as a remembrance for those Marines and Sailors that drove with steadfast perseverance and gave the ultimate sacrifice during World War II for the love and prosperity of The People of Our Great Nation. What’s more is that this memorial stands for all members of the Armed Forces past, present, and future. Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and now Guardians alike, the spirit and countryman-ship of all can be both felt and celebrated here at the Marine Corps War Memorial. I absolutely love visiting D.C., it is truly a treat for me. I do not really care for some of the attitudes of people who reside here, or the crazy people on the roadways, but away from that, D.C. embodies some of the richest and most rewarding aspects of our historical American culture. I highly recommend and encourage all of go can to visit this and all the other memorials, monuments, and historic structures in the National Capitol Region.

The National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial is a solemn and reflective outdoor space located in Arlington County, Virginia. It spans 2 acres of parkland just southwest of the Pentagon, honoring the 184 individuals who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The memorial features 184 granite-covered benches engraved with victims' names, each bench dedicated to an individual who perished at the Department of Defense headquarters or on American Airlines Flight 77.
A silent place of immense power. Before you even step into the inner circle, you feel it: this isn’t just wind brushing over marble and steel—this is a presence. A hush. A space that commands respect without raising its voice. The design feels almost like a ritual circle—each of the 184 illuminated benches tells a story, a memory forged in metal and stone. Walking among them feels like flipping through pages of a chapter the world must never forget. For quiet heroes. For eternal remembrance. And for you—to witness, to feel, and not to forget.

The Pentagon Memorial is such a powerful place to visit with kids. It’s peaceful, yet it carries the deep sadness of the 9/11 tragedy that forever changed our country. Walking through it gives you a chance to share with your children not only the history of that terrible day, but also the strength, unity, and resilience that followed. It’s a moving experience that leaves a lasting impression.

We were not from DC and had a little bit of a hard time finding the actual location to the memorial plus the parking. We got turned around and accidently went (for like 1.5 seconds) down a one way and Pentagon police did not hesitate to pull us over. We were only given a warning but they definitely aren't playing around. Don't come for me, but I personally found this memorial very simple (just overall) when compared to the 9/11 memorial in NYC. Yes, two different places but still the same subject (I'm sure the Shanksville PA location is about the same). There was only one other couple here. It is nice and quiet. Definitely a place for remembrance and reflecting. Worth a visit for sure. Not much here other than the memorial benches, each with a pool of water underneath. Very moving and such a great way to memorialize those lost on 9/11 in the Pentagon. Being near the Pentagon, security is high and I would limit your photography to strictly the memorial itself and not the building or surrounding area.

A beautiful tribute for the lives lost. Currently there is construction being done but there is a detour that still allows you to visit the memorial. Beautiful plaques with the names of the people who lost their lives along with benches for each person. A quiet and serene garden space with trees planted allowing one to sit and reflect. You can't help but feel emotional. A must visit if you are coming from out of town.
Deb C — Google review
A powerful and moving memorial that honors the lives lost on 9/11 with beauty and dignity. Beautiful at night too! The design is easy to navigate and free to visit, making it accessible day or night. Parking can be tricky and is limited, so public transit or nearby parking is best. Well worth the effort to get there for a quiet moment of reflection.
Tyler H — Google review
The place was very nice and made everyone I was traveling with very reflecting. It was overall a really nice memorial with an intuitive design and cool lighting. Highly recommend.
Krish G — Google review
It is a historical place for 9/11. You additionally have a view on Pentagon. The meaning of the banks and their direction with floating water needs to be reserched before you go there to understand the deeper meaning.
Bertram L — Google review
With the construction, getting to the memorial is currently a little confusing. However, once we got there, we found it very well designed and put together. Great memorial to those who lost their lives that day. This is the second of the three 9/11 memorials I've visited, and I recommend this to anyone who gets a chance to go.

Arlington House, also known as The Robert E. Lee Memorial, is a historic Greek Revival mansion located within Arlington National Cemetery on the banks of the Potomac River. Once the home of Robert E. Lee, it now serves as a museum showcasing artifacts and exhibits related to its rich history and its role in the Civil War. The estate and cemetery are final resting places for notable figures such as John F. Kennedy and Thurgood Marshall.
A truly beautiful place to take a picture. I could just imagine how pristine and calming the view was when the area wasn't developed and the European settlers just arrived. A very advantageous overlooking view. The house itself is a museum and they tell a good enough story. It is just a 15 minute walk from the entrance place so unless you really want to pay ~$20 for the trolley ride (45min, 3 stops Kennedy Grave -> Tomb of Unknown Soldier -> Arlington House) then I suggest you can walk it instead. Came on a Monday and there was a lot of people, especially school children on some sort of field trip.

This historic place is full of memories and it's worth to visit 100% especially if you are an American history buff. I'm not a local but i just loved this place.

Arlington House is the historic mansion built by George Washington Parke Custis from 1803–1818 as a memorial to George Washington. It is open to the public and visitors are able to do a self guided tour. No admissions ticket is required. Currently maintained by the National Park Service, it is located in the U.S. Army's Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia The mansion is beautifully maintained with original paintings adorning the walls. There is also period furniture abd other artefacts throughout the home which has been beautifully maintained. There are also staff at the home who are very helpful in explaining the history of the property. The house also overlooks the grave of president John F. Kennedy and his family. It is located on the hilltop which overlooks the entire cemetery as well as beautiful panoramic views of the Lincoln memorial, capital building, Jefferson memorial as well other sites in Washington DC- absolutely amazing views!

Arlington House is a beautiful and historic spot overlooking Washington, D.C. Once home to Robert E. Lee, it’s full of rich history and offers a thoughtful look at the past, including the lives of those who were enslaved there. The views are amazing, and the house is well-preserved with informative exhibits. A quiet, meaningful stop if you’re visiting Arlington National Cemetery. Recommend it!

The best view of Washington, DC is from this location. And then there is the impressive structure itself. The slave quarters in the back of the building brings a little reminder of who actually did a lot - or most of the construction.

The former home of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The house was closed since it was at the end of the day, but it was enormous and grand. It overlooks the Capital area and the grounds are hallowed.

Enjoyed the history. The views are great from the house. The museum in the back was cool and the gift shop was nice.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The food came out hot and fresh, every bite was packed with flavor. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the bacon was crisp without being greasy, and the pancakes were fluffy clouds of happiness. The coffee was rich and smooth, topped off constantly without even asking. The atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant, making it the perfect spot to start the day. Easily one of the best breakfast places I’ve ever been to!

I absolutely enjoyed my time there! I was there for a solo Brunch and it was my first time in Washington. I have to say that the restaurant absolutely did not let me down. They put the south is southern food. I normally don’t eat much but I wanted to try everything. But with every bite, it really felt like home. Perfectly seasoned, freshly made and the mimosas were top tier. I tip my hat off to you!

Stumbled upon this gem 💎 for Brunch before returning to DC. Made a reservation for two at 10:30 AM EST before our 1:04 PM EST trian departure from Norfolk. We made it with plenty time. The food was excellent and the server was attentive. He made great suggestions! My friend ordered the peach, don't kill my vibe (small) and enjoyed it while I ordered the brunch punch (large) - also delicious. I ordered the sweet and spicy chicken and waffles 🧇 which was phenomenal while my friend ordered the bourbon glazed peppercorn meatloaf (comes with two sides) with a side Caesar salad (no croutons add red onions) and macaroni and cheese - she had zero complaints about her meal. In fact, she ordered additional glaze for the meatloaf anticipating needing it and by the time it arrived she had finished her meal. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this and will make a point to return and try some other items.

We enjoyed eating here, they have a big menu with a lot of things that sounded delicious. We weren’t blown away by our food, but it was good. Kinda wish the portion sizes were a little bigger. Fried green tomatoes were yum.
Emme T — Google review
Im going to be as respectful as possible, but I got the steak and eggs The eggs? Sorry as hell, the Steak? Sorry as hell, the Collard Greens? The sorriest. The salad? Serviceable and the grits? Not sorry as hell I just don’t like overly buttered grits and I’m sure they don’t make it like that but this time it tasted like they put the entire stick of butter in the mix. Overall I’m sure this place has other great dishes but other than my order the chicken tenders were fine, the collard greens are heavily seasoned with pepper along with my steak. And the potatoes were fine just very big. Once again overall very nice place, customer service was amazing and the restaurant itself was great but the steak and eggs, and collard greens are a hard pass for anybody who doesn’t want steak only seasoned with pepper and eggs. And if you like southern style collard greens I would most definitely not get them from here as of right now. $47 spent btw ($31 steak and eggs with grits) ($16 chicken tenders with collard greens and potatoes
Mike G — Google review
The best chicken and waffles in town! They’ve just added a peach version and it’s fire 🔥. A solid brunch menu that doesn’t disappoint. And their selection of cold brew coffees are yummy. Great outdoor patio as well. Our server Tory was friendly and provided excellent service. Very kid and family friendly too. Highly recommend!
Kathy N — Google review
The food here was really good, and I’m glad I made a reservation because the restaurant was packed. Parking is definitely the downside—garages are nearby but all cost. The closest garage actually offers a discount with the restaurant, but it’s not advertised, which I think would be super helpful to know. Other than that, everything was great and I’d definitely come back.
Autumn J — Google review
This chicken dish was finger-licking good, with a side of sweet and sour sauce. The chicken was crispy and juicy, while the greens were cooked perfectly. It was so good that I ate the whole thing! It feels satisfying in the gut and doesn't break the bank. Let's not forget dessert. The mud pie isn't dirty but very sweet and soft. The dessert had a chocolate and coffee flavor that isn't too strong but comes off as very sweet, with hints of cocoa and espresso. Do I recommend it? Yes! It's a tasty treat, part of a very delicious ensemble. I give this place big thumbs up and highly recommend it!

Located in the greater Washington, DC area, Synetic Theater is a non-profit company that uses movement to tell stories suitable for all ages. The theater has received numerous awards and aims to redefine the art of theater by blending innovative techniques and investing in artists' growth. With a history rooted in Georgia, Synetic Theater now offers a fusion of Georgian and American storytelling on stage.
My family and I go to the Synetic Theater show every year. I love them! All the expressions are conveyed through the body. Some of the actors are students, and they perform so well. They don’t have fancy facilities, but the performances are amazing!

My favorite theater in DMV. Unique blend of physical theater, movement, and stunning visual storytelling. Their productions, often wordless, create an unforgettable experience through expressive acting, dance, and striking stage design. My all-time favorite performance is Beauty and the Beast. I’m dreaming of seeing it again and sharing it with my loved ones!

We’d been for the performance named “Snow Maiden” and the kids were completely floored with the performance, engagement & fun in the play. Great balance of ballet, musical, mine & drama. I would recommend this place any day for kids aged 5-15 years. PS: make note of following - 1. Parking on weekends is free, take ticket and you’ll not be asked to pay on exit. 2. The concession stand is minimal, and most plays are 45-60mins, plan appropriately.
Kiran B — Google review
Submitted by Susan Galbraith, March 2025 I first discovered Synetic Theater pretty soon after the founding duo, Paata and Irina Tsikurishvili, arrived from Georgia in the 1990’s, and who purposed their particular brand of theater perhaps at first because, in part at least, they arrived with little English. But they soon captivated the town with their rigorously applied physicality and bold re-imaginings of classics. A host of their “silent Shakespeare” productions have become legends. In this production of The Immigrant, they have surpassed their own high bar. Their well analyzed observations of the clown work of the great silent screen star Charlie Chaplin are spot on. Vato Tsikurishvili is superb as The “ Little Fellow.” To see Paata, Vato’s real-life Dad after so many years share the stage with him was such a special treat. The blend of social dancing captures the 1920’s to perfection, and the cinematic sweep of from dock to Great Atlantic Crossing to glimpsing the Statue of Liberty for the first time to the harsh realities of street life in New Yok City are etched indelibly, each scene with its own rhythm and sound score. The fast pace of silent screen acting makes all the acrobatics and high jinx hilariously integrated. But what makes this story most memorable is its intimacy and pathos, revealing the personal story of the company’s Artistic Director, himself an immigrant. And at this time most especially, when immigrants are once again being devalued, it is heartbreaking in moments to see their dreams of America’s promise being shattered. Miss Statue of Liberty, a single dominant set piece is metaphor, and, God bless her, she looks more than a little battered and worn.
Duane G — Google review
The theater itself is located in Crystal City, near the metro and near crystal city drive which has many dining options. It is a beautiful small theater with a sizable stage and reasonable prices however, the production felt anything but small. I recently saw the Tell-Tale Heart here and I was blown away by the acting, the dancing, the production, the costumes, the lights, the cast, etc. I am a huge fan of Edgar Allan Poe and this show does not disappoint. It was eerie, scary, and captivating. The vultures moved as if they were real birds. To do so much on such a small stage is quite a feat. I hope to see more shows here and become a patron. A wonderful experience!
Sidrah M — Google review
Watch out for changing locations and non refundable tickets. I can’t talk about the quality of the production itself because finding the theater becomes an ordeal in first place. No one ever answers the phone. Address on the website? A building under construction. They have shows at various rented venues with unclear addresses and all tickets are non refundable. Trying to contest it right now with my credit card company. It all seems very scammy.
Margarita L — Google review
Excellent performance of Cyrano de Bergerac. Easy to find the theater from Crystal City Metro stop - no need to go up on the street as there’s an underground tunnel from the metro that leads straight there. A talented troupe with colorful set, effective lighting, and sweeping scores. Well done! Well worth the trip out of Downtown.
Dax O — Google review
Do not waste your time or money. We walked around the construction site for 20 minutes looking for a theater that wasn’t there. This place never answers phone calls or emails and they constantly move locations. It’s not being made clear when you purchase the tickets. You will never get an actual person to talk to you.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, located just across the Potomac River in Virginia, offers stunning views of the DC landscape during takeoff and landing. The airport features direct subway service into the city and is known for its easy accessibility. Adjacent to the airport is a park where visitors can experience planes landing from up close. The airport provides a great travel experience with clean facilities, efficient security, and plenty of dining options on each concourse.
Very easy airport to get around and super convenient. Security is smooth, especially with CLEAR. They’ve updated the Admirals Lounge and added a new Centurion Lounge and Capital One Lounge, which are great options if you have access. Big bonus that there’s a Metro stop right at the airport, so it’s really easy to get into D.C.
Dana D — Google review
This airport is the closest to downtown Washington DC. The location is amazing where it is convenient to take Metro Subway. The airport is kind of small but beautiful with good service, clean facilities, and fast WiFi. The view in the air is impressive along the river to the National Mall. I was feeling the airplane would land on the river. However, there are few restrooms at the Southwest terminal after security checks, so I exited for restrooms and went back doing the security check again.
Vincent L — Google review
My first time flying in to here was a fairly good experience. It's a smaller, older complex that was easy to navigate through and wasn't crowded at all. The concourse area has quite a few eateries. Everything is close to each other. My only gripe was that the bags took so long to come out, even for a small airport. We waited about 30 minutes. Not a big deal but just saying. Taxi departures were quick and easy. FUN TIPS: Due to its location, I got some excellent shots of the Mall & monuments before landing. They had an American Airlines jet on the tarmac that was painted with the old AA logo and design. Very cool.

A very nice airports! It is very efficient, when we walk to the belt we almost get our luggage immediately! The staff are very nice although it is crowded and busy . There are a lot of restaurants in the airports as well. The transportation is good, can take the metro blue line and yellow lines after walking in 10 minutes. Also the rental cars, uber, taxi and shuttles are very convenient!
Hills L — Google review
A noble stronghold in the capital’s realm – compact, swift, but not without its scrolls of confusion. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is a well-guarded outpost near the heart of the empire. Unlike the giant fortresses of Miami or JFK, this one is cozy, efficient, and tailored more for the quick-strike adventurer than the globe-trotting wizard. Security lines? Surprisingly humane. Boarding? Often swift. Location? Unbeatable – mere minutes from the halls of power. But beware: signage is sometimes vague, food options limited like a village inn at midnight, and construction zones can spawn without warning like random encounters. Still, it gets you where you need to go – with honor, dignity, and minimal side quests. A solid 4/5 – the kind of airport where even a cleric wouldn’t lose his patience.
Der T — Google review
This is a pretty cool airport. It's modern, has cool displays, and has a good aesthetic. You can see the Washington monument and the capitol from here across the river, as well as Arlington. Nice amenities, and easy to navigate. However, there is just one really disappointing thing. While a metro station is at the airport, there is no people mover! I sincerely believe all good airports need a people mover. Still, it was great.
Penguin O — Google review
I had a great experience flying through Reagan National Airport. The airport is clean, well-organized, and conveniently located just minutes from downtown D.C. Security lines moved quickly, and the staff were courteous and efficient. Overall, a smooth and pleasant experience!

Nestled in the Arlington woods, Ocean Dunes Waterpark is a delightful destination offering a variety of activities for visitors. In addition to its water attractions such as two thrilling slides and a large swimming pool, the park also features mini-golf and batting cages for added entertainment. The red slide stands out with unexpected twists, adding an element of surprise to the open-air experience.
I had an amazing time at Ocean Dunes Waterpark! The park is so much fun and perfect for families. We visited on a weekday and there was no wait to enter, which made it even more enjoyable. The water slides were thrilling, and the wave pool was a great place to relax. The park was clean, the staff were friendly, and there were plenty of fun activities for both adults and kids. Definitely a great place for a fun-filled day at the waterpark, and I’m looking forward to coming back soon!

Awesome place!!!!!! Ocean Dunes was a great park to cool off on a hot summer day. Staff was very cool and helpful, lifeguards where all over. The snack area was clean & cozy. My children and I had a blast. Also the mini golf is fun, had to put the 18 holes. Will definitely go back

Great place to be and not crowded! Something for everyone from young to old. Lifeguards do an excellent job keeping an eye on things especially when the parents that let their children run wild don’t! Y’all need to update your website stating $11.50 to get in and charging $15 per person. I asked was it because it’s the 4th of July she said no!
T M — Google review
I took my daughter here on a Monday. We paid $23. Great price! It was our first time there. My daughter had so much fun. The restroom is old but clean. I would say the place is clean overall. We paid $14.99 for 3 chicken tenders and medium fries. I think it is overpriced. We didn't know we can take our own food. Next time we will do that. The reason I gave three starts is because of how unprofessional the staff is. Especially the girls in the food court. They snatched tickets and ignore customers. They look like someone forced them do the work and acted like they were handling the food for free. They kept talking even after they saw me standing waiting for them to prepare the food. They literally took about 3 minutes to get up and do my order. Mind you they are delaying to warm up some chicken tenders. I would say most of them need to learn how to be professional. Anyways the whole place seems to be managed by teenagers. I think they need someone who is older more experienced in hospitality to learn from. I am still going to back since the price is affordable. We get what we pay for.
TG — Google review
The pool was very crowded. The kids enjoyed the slide. The adults enjoyed the mini golf.
Darlene M — Google review
It was the perfect setup for a day to spend with my toddler. We walked right in no wait and it wasn’t too busy. Peak weekend hours too. The lifeguards and staff were friendly, but still enforced the pool rules in a polite manner. Great price too!
Frank W — Google review
Update: My kids had fun at this water park. There was plenty of parking for a hot Saturday and it wasn't too crowded. We were able to find chairs in the shade. Food is available for purchase. No outside is allowed, but I was confused because I saw a lot visitors with outside food. I also did not enjoy the music played by other guests. This is a nice sized, kid-friendly water park with separate water areas. There is a kiddie pool, a splash area, a lap pool, two slides, and a separate pool for kids to play/swim. There are plenty of life guards too and they have safety vests free for kids. There are plenty of seating areas including grass on the perimeter. We went on a weekday so it was not too busy. The admission fee is very reasonable. You cannot bring any food in, only water, but the onsite food for sale (burgers, pizza, chicken nuggets, fries) is reasonably priced. They do have picnic tables outside the fence if you want to bring a picnic. The shower/changing could use some attention. Parking is free. Overall, my 5- and 3-year olds had a fun day!
Monica A — Google review
3 stars due to the water not being as clean as it should be and the bathrooms not being updated or clean as they should, but.... This water park has stood firm thru time. I visited when I was a child and now I bring my children here to play. They have 3 pools. A baby splash pool, an olympic lap pool, and a 3 level play pool. They have two big waterslides and a water playground. They have a food and drinks place if you get hungry and as many life vests as your party might need. They also offer swimming classes and you can book parties as well. Prices are affordable and there is always a lifeguard on post. We will continue to visit this water park for more.

We visited on the opening day for the season (first Saturday in April). There were many rein-actors including a fife and drum corps. It is quite surprising to see how earlier generations lived. Simple but interesting and well preserved.

This is the oldest house remaining in Arlington County, which was previously part of Fairfax County (and Washington DC). It has two parts, one renovated with a tenant and one preserved from the mid 18th century. Its an interesting historic artifact.

PLEASE NOTE: The museum is CLOSED from November through March, since there is no heat in the oldest section of the house. The museum reopens on the first Saturday in April. The Ball-Sellers is a quiet place to get a glimpse of Colonial era farm life. Space inside the museum is limited, so big group tours should be specially requested.
