1Mercado de Campo de Ourique

Market
Mercado de Campo de Ourique is a smaller, less touristy alternative to the popular Mercado da Ribeira. This charming market, which opened in 1934 and has undergone renovations, offers a variety of traditional produce, artisanal Portuguese recipes, and exotic cuisines. Similar to the Time Out Market, it features communal tables surrounded by food stalls offering everything from sushi to steak to seafood and desserts.
Forget Time Out market - go here! It is a little off the beaten track but the food is great, no queues when we went and half the price of Time Out. No problem getting a seat either. We really loved it. Helpful staff and a lovely range of dishes to try. Great bar and lovely gifts too. A short walk from Rato metro.
Sarah W — Google review
A very nice market with dome food and drinks. There is a common area in the middle and you can buy food and drinks from different stalls and enjoy it there. The stalls already provide clear menus with pictures to make ordering easy for tourists like us. Reasonably priced and not very busy during lunch hours when we visit there on a weekday in July.
Edmond H — Google review
Skip time out, just come here. Really quaint market with good selection of local specialities. The chicken place that only serves take away was amazing. Bitoque at Petiscaria was good. Highlight and star of the market has to be Meroir the Oysteria!
Ed T — Google review
This place has a nice collection of shops and food stalls. Stalls selling all kinds of local fare lice cheese, sardines, fruits, veg, flowers. They also have 2 bars in it. Can order food from the stalls and have it at the bar or the centre sitting area. I had the secretos was really good and the Gin Corner is where I had the beers. Highly recommend this place.
Kiran P — Google review
Love this place. A good option to chill, relax get a drink and a bite to eat. Much smaller but also much less busier than Time Out Market.
Daniel J — Google review
We have been there to have a cheese&ham&wine, it was very nice atmospahe. Local people adress.. Nice to eat there .
Zeynep K — Google review
Local market. We probably went too early so most shops were not open. Located just next to the church, there is also a park nearby for the dogs to roam
TTT — Google review
Beats timeout. I come from a city with lots of great foodhalls and timeout just didn't hit it....I went in walked around and left. Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place at night, felt like a restaurant, locals clearly come here.

Flea market
Feira da Ladra, also known as the Thieves' Fair, is a fantastic flea market located in the diverse Alfama neighborhood of Lisbon. This historic market has been operating since the 12th century and offers a wide array of antiques and unique finds. The winding stone streets of Alfama are filled with restaurants and cafes, making it an ideal spot to explore while visiting Feira da Ladra.
Definitely liked the Feira da Lada; nice mix of people and the items on sale were quite diverse. Nice location in the Afalma district with some good restaurants right there.
Bjoern F — Google review
Fun mix of art, handmade, vintage, antique, and junk - dispersed over a few streets. The building in the middle hosts amazing artist and makers - we bought beautiful one-of-a-kind sun prints and handmade soap. Great place to buy unique Lisbon gifts like canned chocolate sardines or cork accessories. Restaurants available around the market too for lunch, coffee or drinks.
Ania B — Google review
It’s a great and very big flea market in a good location, but as some other reviews have mentioned, some stalls can look very very similar so you’re not sure if you’re getting quality pieces… but if you look hard enough you can find some nice trinkets to have as a souvenir
Kim B — Google review
An interesting place, I think it's more for locals, just because I don't find anything useful I can take home. It's a good experience to go and explore what locals tend to buy in these kinds of places. There were a lot of antiques, books, vinyls, movies, souvenirs and many more things.
Geovanny P — Google review
My husband really wanted to come to this market as it reminded him from description of the ones in London when he was in grad school that he loved. So, we walked over from our hotel (about 25 minutes) and we were not disappointed. This is mostly vintage and antiques but there are some vendors with ceramics, clothing, and art and handmade items. Prices were fair and we were able to find many things to take home to friends and family as well as a few choice finds for our daughter and ourselves. A few vendors were selling snacks and drinks inside the main building.
Alison M — Google review
A great way to spend a morning… lots of vendors to look at. 4/5 because we didn’t end up finding as many desirable things as we would have liked given the size of it!
Sara B — Google review
Maybe the best flea market of Lisbon. Great setting, accomodating & chill vendors, fine variety of vintage, heirloom, & modern craft items.
James D — Google review
Feira da Ladra is Lisbon’s oldest and most iconic flea market, held every Tuesday and Saturday at Campo de Santa Clara in the historic Alfama district. Dating back to the 13th century, this open-air market offers a vibrant mix of antiques, vintage clothing, books, vinyl records, handmade crafts, and quirky collectibles. Whether you're hunting for unique souvenirs or simply soaking up the local atmosphere, it's a must-visit spot for treasure seekers and culture lovers alike. Arrive early for the best finds, and don't forget to bring cash!

Nestled in the vibrant Mercado da Ribeira, Time Out Market is a haven for food enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable culinary experience. This unique market stands out as the first of its kind globally, where every dish has been meticulously curated to ensure only the finest flavors are showcased. Here, you can indulge in iconic Portuguese delights like codfish and delectable custard tarts while also exploring a diverse array of international cuisines—from mouthwatering burgers to savory pizzas and comforting soups.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Where Lisbon's food scene throws its biggest, most delicious party 🍴 Time Out Market isn't just a market - it's basically Lisbon's culinary greatest hits album all under one gorgeous historic roof. This place has cracked the code on food hall excellence: take the city's best chefs and vendors, put them all in one spot, add communal seating that actually works, and watch the magic happen. The variety is absolutely mental in the best way possible. Whether you're craving proper Portuguese bifana, fresh seafood that tastes like the Atlantic just delivered it personally, or want to sample local wines that'll make you question why you ever drank anything else - it's all here. The energy is infectious, with locals and tourists happily rubbing shoulders over shared tables while debating which pastéis de nata vendor reigns supreme. Smart tip: Come hungry but pace yourself - there's too much good stuff to try it all in one go. The communal seating works brilliantly for solo diners and groups alike. Prices are fair considering the quality and location, and the vendors genuinely care about what they're serving. This is how food markets should be done everywhere. Absolutely essential Lisbon experience! 🇵🇹✨

Food was delicious! I enjoyed the jungle curry with prawns from Asian Lab and the flavours were rich and the colour so vibrant. The staff were very friendly for a quick service encounter and very accommodating when I returned to request take-out containers. My aunt ordered a margarita pizza that she really enjoyed (classic thin crust Italian style with minimal toppings, quality ingredients, and great flavor). My mom ordered the seafood platter from one of the vendors, but could not recall which one. We all loved the crisp sautéed veggies served with her fresh fish. We also enjoyed Gelato from the only gelato shop in the food haul. They gelato shop even offered samples, which we enthusiastically took advantage of before deciding on flavour choices. The atmosphere was lively and loud, which aligns with the expectations one might have for a food haul. Even if you prefer a quieter dining experience, I would still reccomend coming here and ordering food as take out and enjoy a picnic by the water. I thought this was a great option for my family since we all enjoy different cuisines and this allowed us each to enjoy our preferred meal while still dining together. A quick note for those hoping to dine on the terrace: all food must be in a takeout container, as plates/trays/real cutlery are not allowed outside. A security guard stopped me when I went to sit outside and advised that this was not allowed.
Cathleen B — Google review
The food is generally good here, but nothing too spectacular. I'd say it's nice since if you're with a group, everyone can get something different from all of the stalls. Nothing really stood out among the food we got. However, I really enjoyed the tiramisu we got from one of the stalls. Service is fast and place is quite clean.
Maezel C — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Time Out Market - Great Vibe, Disappointing Execution Time Out Market in Lisbon is, without a doubt, a fantastic experience from an atmospheric standpoint. When you first walk in, the buzz is infectious. The high ceilings, the sprawling communal tables, and the sheer variety of stalls all contribute to a vibrant, energetic, and undeniably cool scene. It's perfectly located, the place is clean, and the concept of having so many famous Portuguese chefs and eateries under one roof is brilliant. You can easily spend an hour just soaking up the noise and energy, and for that alone, it earns two of its three stars. However, the moment the food hits your table, the experience takes a sharp dive. My main critique is that while the promise of world-class food is there, the reality is a rushed, indifferent execution. Every dish we ordered—from a famous shellfish vendor to a traditional prego sandwich—felt like it had been thrown together without any love or attention to detail. It seems the high volume of customers has turned what should be a culinary showcase into an impersonal assembly line. The fish was slightly dry and poorly seasoned, the plating was sloppy (garnish just dropped haphazardly), and the fries were lukewarm, tasting like they’d been sitting for ten minutes before being bagged up. There was a palpable sense of, "Get it out, move the line." This market feels like an exceptional idea that sacrifices quality at the altar of efficiency and tourist foot traffic. Lisbon is one of the world's great food cities, and you owe it to yourself to experience the real passion that Portuguese chefs put into their work. If you are looking for a quick beer and to enjoy the lively environment, this is fine, but if you’re searching for a memorable meal, skip the queues here. Just a few steps away, in the Alfama or Cais do Sodré neighbourhoods, you will find countless better, more authentic, and more lovingly prepared options at similar (or often better) prices. Save your appetite and your Euros for one of the genuinely excellent, smaller, family-run restaurants Lisbon has to offer. This is a tourist trap disguised as a foodie destination.
David P — Google review
Time Out Market promise is simple: to house the absolute best of Lisbon under one roof. They claim to feature the city's top chefs, its best dishes, most delicious tapas, and finest desserts. How do they ensure this excellence? Everything, they say, is chosen, tasted, and rigorously tested by an independent panel of Time Out journalists and critics. The rule is straightforward: if it's good, it gets into the magazine; if it's truly great, it earns a spot in the Market. As my first stop in Lisbon, I was eager to see if the reality matched the hype. What I found was a place overwhelmingly crowded, making it extremely difficult to find anywhere to sit. Inside, a large variety of food stalls offered many different sweet and savory options. This location, I noted, operates on a card-only policy. Unsurprisingly for such a popular tourist spot, the food is quite expensive. I ordered a cod dish that cost past 20 euro, and honestly, it was very disappointing. The flavour was completely bland. While the market's vibrant atmosphere is worth experiencing for a quick look, it's not a place I would return to for a daily meal. You can find better food at a much more reasonable price outside in the city. Overall, despite the grand claims, I was not impressed.
Rudy L — Google review
Time Out Market Lisbon is a must-visit for anyone who loves good food! The atmosphere is lively and full of energy, with so many amazing options to choose from. I tried the pan-fried octopus and a delicious risotto, and both dishes were simply outstanding — fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. It’s the kind of place where you can truly experience the best of Lisbon’s culinary scene all in one spot. The quality of the food, the variety, and the overall vibe make it a place I’d definitely go back to. Highly recommended for food lovers visiting Lisbon! 🍽️🇵🇹

Awesome place for our group of 11. By sheer luck we found seating for 9 and everyone was happy with the variety of places to eat. Huge sitting area, but fills up on weekends so go with and grab any available seats. A bit on the pricey side, but we enjoyed the experience.
Roya M — Google review
Excellent Food Hall! This is a fantastic spot for foodies! It offers an incredible variety of places to eat, and the options are both tasty and affordable. The only real drawback is how popular it is—be prepared for a challenge to find a table, especially during peak hours.

Market
Mercado de Arroios is a unique dome-shaped market in the heart of Lisbon's culturally diverse neighborhood, Mouraria. Reopened in 2017 with a fresh look, it stands out as the world's first hydroponic market, featuring a soil-less greenhouse system on its terrace. This popular market offers a wide variety of organic and sustainable food, including locally produced vegetables, fresh fish and meat, and baked goods.
The market building looks absolutely amazing, but despite being marked as open Mondays on google map, the Monday is off day for most traders and the market is dead #nofood… 🤷‍♂️
Stefan G — Google review
If you are looking for fresh vegetables, fish and other local produce make sure to visit the mercado before 2 pm. It also has a great variety of restaurants and shop all around

Great place to go to get organic and locally produced vegetables. Fish and meat is fresh. They also have (actual) free ranging eggs

Overpriced and she’s always rushing people or not in a good mood. Annoying Only happy when you buy a lot
Jody G — Google review
This market is only 15 min walk from us - one of Lisbon's coolest neighbourhoods. Due to the international crowd that has moved to this part of town the market and the whole square have changed radically for the better with a good selection of international and Portuguese restaurants, cafes and bars. And even the market itself has improved considerably in the last year with vegetable shops with assortment of vegetables, fruit, herbs, seeds etc you can't find elsewhere - same with the fish stalls. BONUS: Bring your kids - the centre of the circular mercado has a big playground..
Tings L — Google review
Good market. You can buy vegetables, sea foods, meats etc.

Only few stalls open. There is choice of fish and veg but nothing special. Maybe it wasn't the main day of the market ?. Haven't managed to get anything for myself

Just an ordinary market? But is it really just ordinary? It's bustling with restaurants, offering a variety of fresh vegetables, fish, and a pleasant atmosphere. And parents, pay attention, there's a fantastic playground for the little ones. We spent a lot of time here, truly enjoying every moment

Parking Mercado da Ribeira - Cais do Sodré is a convenient and affordable underground parking facility located in Lisbon. It offers relatively clean and organized parking spaces with a 2-meter height restriction. The staff is helpful, and the parking fee is reasonable. Booking through the Telpark app is recommended for added convenience. Visitors have found it easy to access the parking and have had no trouble finding spots even during busy times.
After reading some of the very negative reviews on here about this lot, I was very apprehensive about parking there, but since there was no other available long-term street parking, i had no choice. Best decision!! The circular ramps between floors are narrow, but made it through with my rental 7 seater Peugeot. Checked in at 14:00 and out at 19:30 and only paid €14.00!!!! Cheaper than Porto parking!! There was lots of room on the -3 floor. No ticket necessary, just remember to bring your license plate info to the pay station, that's how you identify yourself. Well lit also. Thank you!!
Tony S — Google review
Location is great. Apart from that there are homeless people sleeping everywhere on -3 and -4. No space for a women to feel safe to walk alone. It smells like urin everywhere. The lifts don‘t work since a year, which is really tough if you have to carry luggage or have kids. Way to expensive for what it is. Please repair the elevator and clean the stairs/solve the issues mentioned.
Tim H — Google review
Never park here. Such a shit parking lot. You can only pay with cash, i think it’s bacause they only accept Portugese debit cards. And when we finally payed the barrier didnt open. I would rather walk 30 minutes then park here
Vivienne R — Google review
Easy access right next to time out market, clean and felt safe. There is a lift up to street level. Cost about €10 for 3/4 hours and you can pay on card at the machine. Very impressed.
Lisa W — Google review
Super cheap and convenient parking. You should pre-book using the Telpark app. Couldn't be simpler. Not sure what other major city you can park for around 8 dollars a day for a week, in NYC this would be like 60 dollars per day at least.
Nick K — Google review
Be careful! There is no daily rate... just hourly. If you park for multiple days, be prepared for a very big bill, that far exceeds even their monthly rates!!!
Jenn R — Google review
For those unfamiliar—uses license plate recognition. No ticket is issued upon entry and you can either make an account and pay (I tried this and could not figure out how to pay) or pay prior to exit by entering your license plate number at the kiosk immediately before the exit. Note: if you have the app you can reserve a spot which is likely useful during peak hours of use. Under 8 euros for three hours of parking.
L D — Google review
There's nobody on the site, you can only contact them through a phone on the paying machine and, if needed, they'd send someone. When we came back to take our car after two days, the smell of urines all over the parking was dreadful and emetic. And going from bad to worse, we found out that our car was broken in and everything inside it was out of the place. Luckily, nothing was missing. We'll never use this carpark again and I just wanted to leave this review for people to be careful if you use this place, not to leave anything valuable in the car and get your nose ready in the morning.

If you're a fan of lively markets and enjoy the art of bargaining, then Feira do Relógio is the place for you. Located in Marvila, Lisbon, this bustling market offers a wide variety of goods every Sunday. From fresh produce to vintage clothing, electronics, and decorative items, there's something for everyone. The vibrant atmosphere is filled with the aromas of fresh food and the sounds of laughter as vendors sell their wares from vans or makeshift stands.
Such a local flea market…we were the only tourists there it felt like. It was super fun, bargaining with the locals over a few euros for some cool fake Adidas shoes and getting 12 pairs of socks for EUR5. The best deal was AirPods for EUR 2! Haha….fun fun! I highly recommend to check it out!! Very local and has a great vibe!

bestest bifanas and other food in this market, must go recommended
Vivek G — Google review
Only open on Sunday this market has to be seen to be believed - it stretches for about 650 meters down a dual carriage way road that is converted into a market. Both lanes are used so the whole length of stalls must be over a kilometer. Although it’s a temporary one day a week market most of the stalls and the pathway between them are covered by a complex patchwork of tarpaulins providing shade and protection from rain. Everything is on sale shoes, clothing, watches, furniture, house goods, tops, wine, spirits, garden plants, even business suits. Almost all the goods on sale are new - I only saw a couple of second hand stores selling clothing Halfway down the hill it transforms into a food market including places to eat & drink beer. There are also wine stalls. Based on observation Prices are significantly lower than the Lisbon supermarkets for both food and wine. If you are a tourist and decide to go try to get the 708 bus which drops one at the north end of the market, then exit at the south end of the market and head for Chelas subway station - this way the whole walk will be down hill including through the market and the leg to the station.

Mercado 31 de Janeiro is a renowned indoor market in Lisbon, known for its wide array of offerings from local vendors. The market is celebrated for its high-quality selection of fresh fish and seafood, which has made it a favorite among the city's top chefs. In fact, the market was recently renamed in honor of Acucena Veloso, a legendary fish seller who supplied the region's most esteemed culinary professionals.
Nice visit to the market this morning. Found some cranberries and jalapeños which have been difficult to find fresh. It made my day. Friendly and helpful staff.

On ground floor is the Mercado. It's like a wonderful farmers market where you can find just about any fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and seafoods. Competitive prices and good quality. On the first floor is the Loja do Cidadão with multiple branches of services. It's always very full, but run very efficiently.

Nice larger municipal market. An older looking place but clean and well stocked. Nice selection of good-looking seafood and produce. Some eating kiosks as well.

Not touristy compare to other markets in Lisbon. People are friendly and helpful as well. Great display of freash food what Lisbon can offer. Great butchers as well as fishmongers. Their prices are so reasonable! We bought a leg of lamb for 8 euro! In the north east corner of the market, there's a deli/bar to drink while shopping. Much better option than a supermarket!

Nestled in one of Lisbon's oldest neighborhoods, the Mercado Municipal de Benfica is a vibrant hub that showcases the city's culinary delights. This large, dome-shaped market, built in the 1970s with a slightly brutalist flair, has been serving locals for over 50 years. Its circular layout features an array of merchants offering fresh produce, succulent meats, and an impressive selection of seafood at its lively center.

Best market I have seen in Lisbon, by far. Great quality and selection of fish, meats, fruit and vegetables but also flowers and clothing. Don't miss!
Neil S — Google review
I LOVE this market. It is housed in a dome-shaped building. Stalls are arranged along the concentric circle where fishmongers take the bull’s eye spot. The quality of fruits and veggies are superior to supermarkets in general and those tiny mercados in the center of lisbon in particular. Merchants are friendly and kind. Judging from the smell in the market, fish must be super fresh. There was no unpleasant odor in the entire market. I highly recommend visiting this market. If you are in the center of lisbon, tired of tourist traps, and craving quality fruits and veggies, this is the place to get them. I took the metro (green and blue) and walked for 20 min. It’s accessible by bus but I wanted to see benfica on foot. It’s real lisbon where real lisboans live. Equally idyllic and vibrant.

It gets crowded on Saturday’s but for a good reason. Fresh vegetables, meat and fish for very good prices, from nice people. You can bargain, talk about the products and have a really nice coffee and pastries inside.

The local market in Benfica. It has a good selection of produce, meat and fish. The prices are comparable to other markets. There is a vibrant, and busy clothing and goods market outside. It is well served by multiple bus routes. If you are in the area it’s worth a visit, but otherwise it might not be worth the travel time.

One can buy fresh fruits and vegetable , meats and fishes, seafood, plants, cheese bakeries etc. It opens Tuesday to Saturday in the morning till 2 pm. It also has got gypsy market outside the mercado where one can buy cheaper prices cloths, shoes and jwelleries etc.

This market is lively with great vendors and selection of products. It opens at 7am. Best to arrive around 7:30-8am when most of the vendors have finished setting up but it isn't so crowded. I love it here. We've bought fruits, vegetables, bread, cheese and sausage from multiple vendors and everything has been delicious and great quality. Most prices and quality are better than the supermarket. Some vendors are friendlier and happy to answer questions and provide recommendations.

Mercado Biológico do Principe Real is a weekly farmers market in Lisbon's charming Principe Real neighborhood, offering a variety of certified organic products such as seasonal fruits, vegetables, artisan breads, cheeses, and dairy. This market is popular among expats and the environmentally conscious community who value sustainability and health.
Large selection of Organic fruits, vegetables, jams, honey, cheeses and baked goods. Very reasonable prices. Only open on Saturday so stock up. The strawberries and raspberries we the best we’ve had in Portugal!!

Good market for locals. Not big in February so maybe better in the summer. A few flowers and bread, but mostly fruit and vegetables.

Truly beautiful. I bought grapes and the care with which the grocer received them and gently laid them on the scale was moving. You want to come to this market.
Eric B — Google review
Mercado Biológico do Príncipe Real, open only on Saturdays, is a weekly celebration of all things organic and fresh. The market is a vibrant tableau of local farmers proudly presenting their bio vegetables and fruits, each stall telling a story of sustainable agriculture and care for the earth. The flower stall is a particular joy, a splash of natural beauty that’s a feast for the senses. Among the market’s many treasures is a remarkable bakery stall, where the aroma of freshly baked bread is irresistible. And the quaint coffee shop nestled next to the market complements the experience, offering a cozy spot to reflect on the neighborhood’s enchanting atmosphere. This market isn’t just a place to shop; it’s a place to connect with the pulse of Lisbon’s community and its dedication to organic living.
Lukasz G — Google review
A small, local market that is only open on Saturdays. You can find various local products such as fruits, vegetables, olive oils, and jams. We went around noon, and unfortunately, the mushroom stalls were quite empty. Fruits, vegetables, and especially mushrooms can run out in the morning hours. Therefore, I recommend going early to shop. Also, I wouldn't call it an organic market because some stalls sell non-organic products as well.
Murat Y — Google review
Great place to roam around, plenty of fruits and vegetables, but I highly doubt all of the selections are organic, "BIO" is a misleading word for organic(do your own research). This place is mainly for people, who like to show off and get 2 apples, 3 carrots, 100 gms blueberries and 1 tomato and tell people , I always eat organic food. And the rest of the week ,you will see them drinking cheap beer/wine and eating white bread from continent. Old ladies place to make each other jealous, cause some can actually afford it, but some can't, but they do it anyway for the sake of getting praised.
Kimmel J — Google review
I love this market and all it has to offer! Veggies are very high quality and bursting with flavor — much better than the offerings at the supermarket.
Erin H — Google review
A lovely street market in Lisbon, not far from Lisbon Botanic Gardens (note: we know Botanic Gardens is not an actual botanic gardens with rare flowers etc, just more like a green), selling cheese, coffee, local produce, jams, fresh fruits, all high quality and appetising, and special, and attendees at booths super friendly. If you're browsing Lisbon by foot, you won't regret it, a nice place to head to!

LX Factory, located in Alcantara, Lisbon, is a revitalized historical industrial complex that has transformed into a vibrant hub for art, design, and gastronomy. This former abandoned area now houses an eclectic mix of creative businesses including design companies, artsy retailers, unique restaurants and bookshops. The industrial atmosphere of the space provides a home to numerous craft shops offering original concepts such as handwoven rugs and cushions at Saudade Design and artisanal preserves at Comur.
Such a cool spot. Lovely stores and restaurants. Try and get there over a weekend when they have " stalls" as well. I absolutely loved it. They have lovely stores for some serious shopping. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Forget everything else - this industrial playground just became your new Lisbon obsession LX Factory is hands down the coolest spot in Lisbon and I will fight anyone who disagrees 🥊 This former textile factory turned creative wonderland under the 25 de Abril Bridge is where Lisbon's soul really lives. Forget the typical tourist traps - this is where locals actually hang out and where magic happens on every corner. The mix is absolutely perfect: quirky art shops selling pieces you'll actually want to take home, restaurants serving everything from gourmet burgers to fusion tapas, and bars that range from cosy wine spots to buzzing cocktail joints 🍷 Every building tells a story, every wall is canvas, and every corner reveals something unexpected. The vintage bookshop alone is worth the trip! Best part? The vibe is effortlessly cool without trying too hard. You can spend an entire day here - browsing art, grabbing lunch, sipping drinks, and soaking up that creative energy. Sunday markets are chef's kiss perfect. This place proves Lisbon isn't just about pastéis and trams - it's about innovation, creativity, and damn good vibes! 🎨 Absolutely essential Lisbon experience!

It’s a great hub of local restaurants, businesses, and artists in an old, converted factory. You can find restaurants, bars, cafes, to clothing shops and jewelry makers and artists all within a walking distance. It is a bit pricey but I had a blast just walking around and checking out the cool shops. I personally loved the book store. It is a bit out of the way, but if you’re in Lisbon, it’s a must visit place.

I’d list this as an ‘essential visit’ in Lisbon. Former industrial space repurposed and repopulated by restaurants, makers shops, an amazing bookshop, a brilliant (mainly jazz) record shop and artist’s studios. It’s not a unique concept but it’s been done fantastically here with old blending into the new beautifully. Very organic. Easily worth at least half a day.

The Mercado de Santa Clara is a hidden gem located near the famous Feira da Ladra flea market. This market, established in 1877, offers a diverse range of handcrafted products and unique goods, making it an ideal spot for expats seeking authentic local experiences. From handmade jewelry to traditional textiles, visitors can find items that tell a story and reflect the rich cultural heritage of the area.
I recently visited an antique market, and it was an absolutely incredible experience! Walking through the aisles filled with vintage treasures, I felt like I was stepping back in time. The variety of items was astonishing – from elegant furniture and rare books to old coins, watches, and delicate porcelain. Every piece seemed to have its own story to tell. One of the best parts of the market was the atmosphere – a mix of history, nostalgia, and excitement. You never know what hidden gem you might find! I was especially fascinated by old paintings and vintage jewelry, each with a unique charm. If you love history and enjoy discovering rare, one-of-a-kind pieces, this is definitely the place to visit. Whether you’re a collector or just looking for something special, the antique market offers an unforgettable journey through time!

Went on Tuesday and on Saturday. Tuesday had lots of stalls but Saturday was even busier. Great fun. Lots of really nice and cheap souvenirs and gifts. I bought loads of dish towels, throws, fridge magnets, tote bags, beautiful ceramic tile coasters, etc, as gifts. There was a particular stall that I found to be the best prices, the seller was a middle-aged thin Indian man with spectacles. I found him only on the Saturday, so unfortunately I paid a higher price on same items when I went on Tuesday, as I bought from another stall. Ended up leaving both days with a massive bag. There was even a stall selling vacuum-packed cheese, with shelf life of 5 months! Bought some of that, too! I went alone both days as husband isn’t one for street markets and I had a great time by myself! Definitely recommend this as a great day out for tourists.

The Alvalade Norte Market is a large and popular grocery store in the Alvalade neighbourhood of Lisbon. It stocks a wide variety of food and spices, as well as traditional Portuguese cheeses and hams. The market is busy, and it's easy to find what you're looking for.

On Saturdays at least, it houses a large variety of fruits and vegetables, fresh fish and meat, vegan burgers and even specific Indian ingredients.

Local produce and fresh food. Some small restaurants in the market prepare traditional Portuguese food. The place was seen in some international culinary shows. It is not particularly a beautiful building but keeps the tradition of the farmer's market like many districts of Lisbon. It has a public (paid) parking lot and is next to Av. Igreja. The neighboring area preserves the local shopping district without the overwhelming flow of tourists.

Probably one of the most traditional and oldest open food markets in Lisbon that is mainly used by locals. Much smaller than in the past with only a handful of stalls still operating. If you're lucky, you might even get to interact with other cultures at the table, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. We ate at Susana Felicidade; the dishes were beautiful, very well presented, and delicious. We'd love to have more time there; the food was perfect. The dishes were cuttlefish with sweet potato puree in octopus ink and cod with cream and spinach cream, and they were divine.

Manteigaria is a renowned bakery specializing in delectable tarts filled with egg custard and topped with cinnamon, accompanied by strong espresso. These Portuguese custard tarts are a must-try during your travels, offering a taste of tradition and culture. With locations in Barrio Alto, Alfama, and Chiado, Manteigaria provides easy access to these delightful treats. The bakery's efficient setup encourages quick consumption, reflecting the fast-paced nature of European coffee shops.
Pastéis de nata are very light. They don’t give you that heavy feeling you usually get after eating sweets. Crispy and flaky on the outside, creamy on the inside, not too sweet and not too rich—everything is perfectly balanced. And honestly, the ones here were much better than anywhere else we tried in Lisbon
Azadeh R — Google review
Hands down, the best pastel de nata I’ve ever tried in Lisbon! It’s different from the egg tarts I’m used to from Asia, but the custard here is incredibly fresh, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The crust is delightfully crispy, and I love that you can sprinkle cinnamon powder on top or enjoy it as is—both ways are amazing! This is an absolute must-try spot for anyone visiting Lisbon. Highly recommend!
Kelly — Google review
Some of the tastiest pastéis de nata we had in Lisbon! Located in a lovely spot at the beginning of Bairro Alto, right across from the square. You can enjoy your pastéis de nata at a small stand or take them away with you.
Dimmm167 — Google review
The crust is buttery but not too greasy. It’s flaky and holds its structure shattee beautifully when you take a bite. The egg custard filling it a creamy smooth texture that is at the perfect sweetness. Don’t forget to douse the pastel de nata in cinnamon. It wouldn’t be properly without it 🤦‍♂️. This is one do the big three and it’s worth wait. Need I say more 😌?
Jbourdain — Google review
After trying most of the popular and recommended places for pastel de natas, I would have to say this is better than the most by small margin. Most places in Lisbon makes good pastel de natas, and hard to tell which is better but this one had slightly richer custard and lingering pleasant flavour. Would definitely recommend but brace for a lineup as it gets really busy. Luckily the line moves pretty fast.
Abdul A — Google review
Title: Good in Small Doses Manteigaria is one of those places you *have* to try in Lisbon, and yes—the pastel de nata lives up to the hype… but only to a point. The first one or two are lovely: crisp shell, creamy custard, that iconic warm comfort. But if you overindulge, the charm starts slipping. The more you pay attention to the flavor details, the more it shifts from “wow” to “hmm, maybe not as magical as I thought.” Coffee was fine, nothing to write home about. I also tried their glühwein, which turned out both pricey and un-drinkable—one sip was more than enough. The setup is convenient, though. They’ve got a stand where you can grab a pastel on the spot (probably the best way to enjoy it—fresh, hot, and fleeting), or place an order to take away. Overall: worth trying, especially if you’re in Chiado/Baixa and want that Lisbon pastry experience. Just don’t get carried away—sometimes less really is more.
Manja P — Google review
It was very crunchy and caramelized on top but the pastry wasn’t as flakey as I would have liked. It was a little too sweet for me. I’d recommend people to eat at the store because there is an extra charge for takeout
Linda Z — Google review
When I came across this picture of this super delicious pastel de nata, I remembered that I actually took this picture to write a review. So here we go … For me this is where you go for the best pastel de nata in town. Without doubt I have been taking all my visitors over the years and no one has not liked them ever! They all want to go back and often I take a box back with me to the family when I visit my folks. I am definitely missing one right now …

Shopping
Colombo Shopping Centre is a massive multi-floor mall in Lisbon, attracting both local and international visitors. It houses a variety of popular international shops such as Lacoste, Forever 21, Primark, Zara Home, and Disney Store. The mall also features numerous eateries and a cinema. Along with 'Armazens do Chiado' and 'Amoreiras,' it is among the top shopping destinations in Lisbon for well-known retailers and dining options.
What I love most about Colombo Shopping Centre is its smart architecture and thoughtful layout. The stores are well-organized by category, making it easy to find what you’re looking for. There’s a wide variety of brands and food options, which adds to the enjoyable experience. I can spend hours there without feeling tired—it’s truly a pleasant place to shop and relax.
Mahtab S — Google review
One of the most convenient shopping malls in Lisboa. So easy to reach by metro, on the blue line. There’re lots of stores both international and Portuguese ones, a lot of options for people with different budgets.
Ekin — Google review
It is a largest shopping centre of the Lisbon. It huge by any standards. You can find almost anything here. In side has a very big supermarket (Continent) too. Its food court is very large too. You can find several nice restaurants and coffee shops in side it Colombo too. There is no parking issue here as its parking is really big too. Just be careful to do not lost your car.
Mahyar H — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ When shopping centres do everything right and your feet thank you for it! Right, let's talk about Colombo - this place is absolutely massive and somehow manages not to feel like a soul-crushing retail maze. Brilliant stuff! 🛍️ The restaurant selection here is genuinely impressive - not your usual food court nonsense, but proper dining options that'll actually satisfy your taste buds rather than just fill a void. Whether you're after a quick bite or a proper sit-down meal, they've got you sorted. But here's the real winner: stumbled upon a Geox store and honestly, my feet have never been happier! 👟 For anyone who knows the struggle of finding decent shoes that don't torture your feet, this discovery alone makes the trip worthwhile. The sheer size means you can easily spend hours here without getting bored, and the layout actually makes sense (shocking for a shopping centre, I know). Parking was decent, didn't have to circle like a vulture. Pro tip: wear comfortable shoes... oh wait, just buy some Geox when you get there! 😄
Tom D — Google review
If this is not the largest shopping mall in Lissabon, it's in the top 3. Just the food mall alone is worth a visit! There is a tiny cornershop with just room for a counter and an oven, and they make their pastels on site. Best pastel I've had!
Gerben F — Google review
Huge shopping mall with a great variety of international and local stores, restaurants, and entertainment options. Very clean, modern, and easy to navigate. Perfect for shopping, dining, or catching a movie. One of the best malls in Lisbon!

I was impressed of this place as there are plenty of places that are different from other European cities. I liked that mall. There are luxury stores and also Primark and others that are very affordable. There are lots of restaurants and places to eat delicious food. I would definitely come back when in Lisboa.

Colombo Shopping Centre is truly one of the best shopping destinations in Lisbon. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear that the centre is designed to offer a complete and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages. The location is very convenient, with easy access by car and public transport, and there is ample parking, which is always a huge plus. The range of shops is impressive, offering everything from international brands to local boutiques, so whether you’re looking for fashion, electronics, home goods, or cosmetics, you’re likely to find exactly what you need. The layout of the centre is spacious and well-organized, making it easy to navigate between floors without feeling crowded, even during busy periods. Dining options are another highlight. There’s a wide variety of restaurants, cafés, and fast-food outlets, catering to all tastes and budgets. I especially appreciated the food court, which is clean, well lit, and provides plenty of seating. The mix of local Portuguese cuisine with international options is perfect for both a quick bite or a more relaxed meal. The facilities are excellent clean restrooms, plenty of seating areas, and helpful customer service desks. The shopping centre also frequently hosts events and promotions, which makes visiting even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is lively without being overwhelming, and the interior design, with its modern and bright aesthetic, creates a welcoming environment for families, friends, and solo shoppers alike. Overall, Colombo Shopping Centre offers more than just shopping it’s a place to spend a full day exploring, dining, and enjoying quality leisure time. Whether you live in Lisbon or are visiting the city, it’s definitely worth a visit. Five stars for its variety, convenience, and overall experience!

For a rainy day this place was really really nice. It was super easy to get to by metro and to be honest, we actually bought stuff here when we did not plan to. Large mall. Great places to eat upstairs. Clean and comfortable. It can get busy though but when you have free time during a rainy day, this is perfect. A huge Continente too which we sadly did not have time to visit. We spent hours here and did not even see everything since we ran out of time.

From gourmet restaurants to casual eateries, the food court offers a plethora of choices to satisfy any craving. The quality of the food is consistently high, and the ambiance of the dining areas adds to the overall pleasant experience. Another highlight is the customer service. The staff throughout the mall are exceptionally friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with a smile. This level of service makes shopping at Amoreiras not just convenient but also a delight.

The views here are indeed amazing and 360. There are also a few binoculars available to check out the views better, good view of airport too. However, this is literally just a roof top. We were somehow expecting some food or drinks at the top. We had our expectations set wrong. There are no food or drinks available. Even the seats available were so uncomfortable and definitely not made for sitting too long. I guess the ticket is worth it for the views but have your expectations set right. I would recommend taking a drink with you and sunglasses. You are taken up via a lift, but there are a small number of steps to take up to the top.

Croqueteria is a charming spot that offers a variety of Portuguese croquettes and sandwiches. The menu features an array of croquetes with different flavors, including meat, seafood, and vegetables. In addition to the delectable croquettes, they also serve sandes de croquete - sandwiches filled with your choice of croquete. Despite its unassuming location, Croqueteria draws long lines of eager customers at Time Out Market Lisbon.
We had all of them to taste and they are all amazing. We also had it for delivery cuz it was indeed amazing, no jokes. The goat cheese croquete is just unbelievable and the salmon…honestly, all of them. The service is also very nice, people are of course in a fast paced service but they are nice and friendly. The best place in the Time Out
Murilo R — Google review
Having dinner in the crowded market I felt like I wanted something fast and easy to eat. So tried four different versions of croquet. I had cod, traditional smoked sausage, cuttlefish with ink and a traditional meat croquet. Even if I wasn't overly impressed they did the job.
Christoffer H — Google review
We tried one of each. The best ones were the fish ones, meat were also good. Vegetarian were good, but poor in comparison to fish and meat ones. Service was nice. The line is big and during lunch time there is almost no chance to find a place to sit. We definitely recommend you to try them out.
Veronika J — Google review
Picked two croquets while waiting for main food (traditional and sausage) and they were delicious. Came back for cod and goats cheese and really like that too. Ended up getting 10 croquettes beteween the two of us and it was the best thing on the market

The croquettes were exceptional, I didn’t even stop to take a photo. Even more impressive was the service; Eloisa’s warmth and attention made the experience unforgettable.

We got croquettes from here inside the Time Out Market. They were a bit cold even though they were freshly made. We got 1 borrego and 1 edicao especial (10year special was arroz de polvo) with 2 cha frio. The total was €9,05. We weren't sure we got the right croquettes though when we tasted them. Nevertheless they tasted nice. Other options included a vegetarian goat cheese, fish ones (like cod and cuttlefish) and traditional ones like alheira and cozido a portugesa. The sides included sweet potato chips. We went around 8pm on a Wednesday in early September. There was no queue. Follow here and on IG for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews @one.more.step.along.the.world

Staff were really nice and friendly! Had the traditional, tuna, and cuttlefish - they were all so tasty, especially with the sauces they gave. Great choice for appetizer!
Andrew P — Google review
Pretty average croquettes in the Time Out Market. We found the prices of the individual croquettes to be okay in the moment (€1.80/p), as it was our first time trying them in Lisbon, but we realized after we left that they are generally much cheaper. They do have some more interesting fillings compared to the traditional croquettes, but unique doesn't necessarily mean better tasting. All the filings tasted pretty similar to me, so I don't even remember which ones we ordered. We got the €12 combo which included 3 croquettes of any flavor, 2 sides, and a beverage. We selected the salad and soup as the sides. While I think in general the value was good, the salad and soup did not taste good. The soup was probably the worst thing of all at the market - completely tasteless but salty. It was decent to try the croquettes but we had much better elsewhere. If you want a quick snack I wouldn't say no, plus I didn't find that the other restaurants at Time Out were amazing either, so try it if you want.

It boasts a wide selection of regional cheeses, dry-cured meats, canned goods, salt cod, and fine wines. Visitors can savor the renowned Pata Negra cured ham paired with Portuguese corn bread and olive oil.
The best butchery shop in Lisboa!! I went to try the fabled Jamon Iberico porco 50% and the platter cost was reasonable and worth it at 20€ with Abadia Ginza Liqueur as theicing on top of the cake made it the perfect savoury platter!! One of the best foods ever in Europe 🇪🇺💯
Henry A — Google review
Manteigaria Silva is “butter shop” by name, codfish and pig shrine by vibe. A very cute shop to sample the famous Iberian pigs. We stopped in for cheese, got a dissertation on Portugal’s national identity via dried fish and acorn-fed black pigs. Apparently, these pigs are royalty. People speak of their genetics like they’re auditioning for Mensa. I say let the meat lovers worship their salty flesh, I’m just here for the cheese.
Sara G — Google review
I was on a wine tour when I learned about this place. It is one of the business with historical importance in the city of Lisboa, operating over 100years. How cool is that! Sooooo many lists of meat and cheese produce, i could just get lost in all the selections they had. Must try the meat&cheese platter here, with wine of course. It was phenomenal. This store also sells wine, and the price was actually pretty nice.
Hanna B — Google review
I was attracted to the shop by the great flavor of ham as passing by the street back to the hotel. Before my trip to Portugal, there’s this Queijo Serra da Estrela that I determined to bring home as this is rare in the state and it’s a DOP product. So glad this shop carries the cheese. On display, it was a bigger size, probably 1kg. The staff checked for me and turned out they carried a smaller portion on the day. Lucky me! They also sell lots of different Iberian ham, unfortunately I can’t bring them home due to restrictions. However I did pick up two cans of sardines.

Nice old school spot to grab a little lunch around meat and cheese. They also have a ton of alcohol on selection, if you drink. Not a lot of non-alcohol....so bring your own if you're like me and don't drink.

This wonderful Lisbon produce shop has a dizzying array of locally sourced cured meat/ sausages, aged jamon, cheeses, wines and liqeuers. We normally travel with a half empty suitcase which we invariably fill with local foods as gifts for friends and family (and for our own consumption too of course). Manteigaria Silva offered itself as the perfect one stop shop to do just that. The service staff spoke decent English and were very helpful, offering different samples of aged jamon and judging from our responses, offered their thoughtful suggestions. There were a couple of standing tables outside the shop under the awning for customers to tuck into their recent purchases if they so wished. A better option would be to head down to the Time Out Market near the waterfront where MS has a shop. Serving sizes there were generous and perfect for sharing among a small group. Their platter included a fig jam, almonds and a couple of pineapple wedges that truly enhanced the taste of both the jamon and cheese!

A series of small stalls selling food and drinks. The square has a cool safe night time vibe with live music on weekends and periodic police patrols as well as cc TV cameras. The food on offer encompasses Italian, Chinese nibbles, kebabs , Portuguese dishes. Only draw back was the lack of over all toilet facilities, with access to the only one being dependant on being a customer of that particular food stall.

Belém Tower is a medieval fortified tower located on a small river island, offering stunning views of the estuary from its rooftop terrace. Visitors can enjoy strolling around the area and taking pictures by the LOVE sign. For a unique experience, sunset cruises departing from the port provide an opportunity to explore Lisbon and its landmarks, including cruising under the San Francisco-style bridge. Families can also visit nearby attractions such as St.
Unfortunately the tower is under renovation till next year 2026 but the area around is very lively and fun. Too many hawkers trying to sell trinkets does dampen the fun as they surround you but overall it was a fun place to visit. Took the boat for a sightseeing cruise from the river which gives you another view of the city.

Well unfortunately for us The Tower was wrapped in netting and had construction 🚧 work going on. Slight disappointment when we arrived. It’s located 20 min from the city. Beautiful grounds and surrounding areas saying that. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area, even if it’s still wrapped up. The grounds are well maintained. They have a few eateries and amenities in the area too. This area can be very busy, as the Belém Tower is one of the highlights of Lisbon. No idea when it will reopen and prices. A nice visit; although we didn’t get to see what we wanted. 💫
Trehan — Google review
A nightime stroll past this tower on the banks of the Tagus River, built 500 years ago to guard the entrance to Lisbon's harbor. It held great importance during the Age of Discovery in Europe, serving as both a fortress and the port of origin for Portuguese explorers establishing what would become the first European trade routes with China and India. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, it's best visited during the day, but avoid the queues and entrance fees.

I have visited this place twice, but hasn't had a chance to enter the tower due to under reconstruction. Though the surrounding environment is still beautiful, it's a shame that the tower itself was inaccessible. The first time I went was in 2024, and the renovations were already underway. I was hopeful that my second visit in 2025 would allow me to finally see the inside, but the work was still ongoing. Despite this, the experience wasn't a total loss. The view of the Tagus River from the grounds is breathtaking, and the monument's exterior architecture is a stunning example of Manueline style. I enjoyed walking along the waterfront, imagining the ships of the Age of Discoveries setting sail from this very spot. The nearby Monument to the Discoveries is also an impressive sight, and the whole area is filled with a sense of history and adventure. I hope to one day return to Lisbon when the renovations are finally complete and I can finally explore the interior of this iconic landmark. It remains on my list of places to see, and I'm sure the wait will be worth it.
Agnescia S — Google review
The Belém Tower is one of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks and an absolute must-see. Its architecture is stunning – a mix of Manueline and Gothic styles – with beautiful details carved into the stone that reflect Portugal’s Age of Discoveries. The location right on the Tagus River makes it even more special, offering incredible views and photo opportunities, especially at sunset. Inside, you can explore the narrow staircases, old cannons, and terraces, which give a sense of the tower’s history as both a fortress and a ceremonial gateway to the city. It can get busy, so I recommend arriving early in the morning or later in the afternoon to enjoy it with fewer crowds. Even if you don’t go inside, just walking around the exterior and along the river is worth the visit. Overall, the Torre de Belém is not just a monument, but a journey back in time and a true symbol of Lisbon’s heritage. Highly recommended!
Patrick J — Google review
Its a great attraction, it has been in renovations the last three months[written in Oct. 2025]. No clear date as to the completion. Still worth visiting as its a short walk to the monument of discovery and the monastery as well.
Lionel P — Google review
Easy access with public transport. When I was there, the tower itself was under renovations of some sort. The gardens around are lovely. If you visit during summer, try to get there early as there is not a lot of shade around. Combine with a visit to the nearby monastery.

Great water castle, pity, that it's in reconctruction, so I could not get inside... pretty lovely. In my country castles were usually built up the hills, to see enemies. In fact, in my own city, we already have a monument to water castle.

Jerónimos Monastery, a stunning late Gothic Manueline-style monastery in Lisbon, offers a unique experience for visitors. The monastery houses archaeology and maritime museums in its wings, providing an opportunity to explore Portuguese history and maritime heritage. Families can enjoy medieval storytelling in the cloisters and visit the nearby Maritime Museum with its children's section and model ships. Adjacent to Belem Palace, expansive lawns offer space for picnics and outdoor activities.
The Jerónimos Monastery is the true jewel of Manueline architecture. This monastery is unbelievably gorgeous! Pay special attention to the intricate carvings that depict Portugal’s heroes and moments from its history. Don’t miss visiting the tombs of Vasco da Gama, Luís de Camões, and Fernando Pessoa. I recommend buying your tickets in advance and, if possible, joining a guided tour to better understand the history and symbolism behind the monastery. I visited without a tour, and even though my ticket was for 8 a.m., individual visitors were only allowed in after the tour groups, so I could enter at 9 a.m. Also, be sure to visit the church — it opens one hour later than the monastery — where you’ll find the tombs of Vasco da Gama and Camões. If you come to Lisbon and don’t visit Jerónimos, it’s as if you haven’t truly been to Lisbon!
Murillo P — Google review
The Jerónimos Monastery is truly one of the most beautiful and impressive monuments in Portugal. Located in the Belém district of Lisbon, this UNESCO World Heritage site is a breathtaking example of Manueline architecture a style unique to Portugal, filled with maritime symbols, detailed carvings, and incredible craftsmanship. From the moment you arrive, the grand façade and intricate stonework leave you in awe. Every column, arch, and detail seems to tell a story about Portugal’s rich history during the Age of Discoveries. Inside, the cloisters are simply magical peaceful, elegant, and full of light. Walking through the corridors feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by centuries of art, devotion, and exploration. The church itself is magnificent, with high vaulted ceilings, delicate columns, and the tombs of famous Portuguese figures like Vasco da Gama and Luís de Camões, which make the visit even more meaningful. The site is very well preserved and well organized, with helpful staff and informative exhibits. It can get quite busy, so going early or later in the afternoon is best to fully enjoy the calm and beauty of the place. Overall, the Jerónimos Monastery is a true symbol of Portugal’s golden era and a must-visit attraction in Lisbon. It’s not just a monument it’s a celebration of art, faith, and history that will stay in your heart long after your visit!

Admission is included here (and many other sites) with the Lisboa pass. You do NOT need a separate entrance ticket for this site with the Lisboa pass. Saves you money and a ticket line. Pick it up by the train station. Our food tour guide told us about the monastery and how the king built it for his prize fighter that wanted to live a poor religious life after winning epic battle. The whole thing was built with 1/10th of the pepper tax from that time. Just mind blowing! Beautiful monastery. The line was long but moved quickly. Each of the gargoyles are different in the courtyard and worth seeing how many different ones you can spot.
Nicole M — Google review
My Takeaways: 1. Buying tickets in advance is essential, even during the low season. 2. Expect long lines at the entrance—waiting time can be up to an hour, even if you have an assigned time slot. 3. The visit to the monastery takes around 40 minutes. 4. Pay attention to the decorative elements symbolizing different plants. In front of the monastery, there is a garden showcasing these plants, along with information about their use and symbolic significance. 5. Visual signage and information inside are limited. Audio guides are not always convenient—your phone might not be fully charged, the pace might not suit you, or you might want to skip ahead or go back. 6. Your personal experience and appreciation of the architecture will largely depend on your familiarity with Gothic structures. 7. A fascinating historical detail: the Jerónimos Monastery was funded by wealth gained through the Indian spice trade. 8. The monastery is located in a very crowded area, surrounded by museums and the Monument to the Discoveries. I wouldn’t recommend visiting during the high season. Even during the low season, parking can be difficult—it may take up to 30 extra minutes to find a spot, even with pre-booked entrance tickets.
Julia B — Google review
***warning*** If you are visiting with Lisboa card, visit the first thing in the morning at opening hour. Even though the card reader says “skip the line”, Lisboa card holders have no priority at all. The only advantage is you don’t pay the 18€ and you don’t need to get an actual ticket from the ticket booth. Card holders have their own line. But the patrons with time slot assigned have priority. I stay in line for 1 hour 15 mins. People who arrived 25 minutes after I did got in before I did. Also I didn’t get to visit the church. Apparently someone important died- hundreds of luxury vehicles parked outside and illustrious attendees went into the church- hence church is closed to public. The monastery itself is a great structure.
Silvia X — Google review
The monastery was amazing. We loved it. We were also lucky that with a young kid in the stroller we were allowed to skip all lines. If you are not that lucky, you need to wait quite some time in the line, but you will not be disappointed.

Extremely busy- the queue was snaking for long. Worth coming really early or grabbing a bite to eat and exploring Belem before coming back in the afternoon. Much shorter wait after 2pm although still busy inside. Beautiful, stunning architecture both from the outside and inside.
Nilvanta K — Google review
Nice place inside, you make cool photos. But you cannot read inside much about place. Finished in half an hour. Worst part was queue in full sun for time slot we bought tickets online (14:00), when we reached gate for our slot (13:30-14:30), they sent us back on end of queue because they probably changed slot, not marked well, very annoyed staff, no explanation. By my opinion not worth of 20 eur per person and waiting in line hour in full sun. Tickets are in park accross, do not wait in line without tickets. 😉

It is part of a group of renowned restaurants in Lisbon, such as Boa Bao and Bairro do Avillez. The restaurant also has a branch at the Time Out Market in Cais do Sodre, known for its octopus hot dogs and diverse food options.
Seriously unique and wonderful experience. The menu has a wide range of sea food with a small fish market included. The staff was super kind in helping to pick out the right dishes for us. They even explained every dish option on the marked stand to us. We had sushi mostly, which was delicious. I would definitely recommend the tuna tartar with white chocolate. Would definitely go again! They seemed kid friendly, since there were tons a kids around!

One of the best meals I have ever had at a very reasonable price. Great service and atmosphere. Had the bread with black butter, olive oil and crab dip, the octopus carpaccio, the tuna tar tar on brioche, scallops and the fatty tuna sashimi. All were excellent. Highly recommend.

June S — Google review
Loved the look and vibe of the place. Lots of fresh fish and seafood options, a bit overpriced IMO. I live in FL and understand price is elevated for whole fish in a restaurant but this was even more so. And each item was a la cart for sides to go with the overpriced fish. We split a fish and it was WAY to salty. Ruined taste of the fish, that was cooked perfectly. I could scrape off rocks of salt from the fish but still very salty. Appetizer bread was very good, and cuttle fish spread yummy.

Lisbon has amazing food scene and is getting better day by day. Most of the good places are small holes in the wall concept in the centre of city. Sea food is best option in most of Portugal 🇵🇹 and Lisbon has many causal places which have best choices. This is one of them and has a best menu if you want to try fish, shrimps, lobsters, clams, mussels etc and list goes on. Dish soap and shrimps in olive oil were best for me. My wife enjoyed mussels and clams which were best too.

We came in for lunch when it was nearly empty. The service was very friendly. The food was great! We got a variety of dishes, including sushi, clams, scallops, and the grilled vegetables and potatoes. The bread is also worth it. Very cool experience and vibe. I would go back and recommend it to friends.

Lookouts
Centro Vasco da Gama is a multilevel shopping mall located in the Parque das Nacoes district in central Lisbon. Originally built for the 1998 World Exhibition, it now houses international retailers, eateries, and a cinema. The modern complex offers three floors of stores as well as numerous dining options on the fourth floor.
Vasco da Gama Mall is a maritime-themed shopping destination in Lisbon’s modern Parque das Nações district, originally developed for the 1998 World Expo. Its design pays tribute to Portugal’s seafaring heritage, featuring ship-inspired architecture with sail-like towers and nautical motifs throughout. Spanning 50,000m², the mall integrates seamlessly with Santiago Calatrava’s Oriente Station—a key Expo ’98 landmark. Its standout feature is a transparent roof covered by a cascading water sheet, creating shimmering natural light. The flooring is wood plank designed high-quality laminate and protective coating. Resembling the floor of a big wooden ship. The multi-level layout prioritizes openness and connectivity. Nautical elements define the interiors, complemented by modern amenities: A six-screen cinema and fitness club. A terrace with panoramic views of the Tagus River and Parque das Nações. Recent upgrades include sustainable retail concepts like MANGO Teen’s Mediterranean-inspired store. The tenant mix balances global brands and local practicality: 170+ stores A Continente hypermarket for everyday essentials. The food court houses 30+ diverse restaurants, acclaimed for quality beyond typical mall fare—offering sushi, seafood, and international cuisine. The best part is direct links to metro/train services, 2,600 parking spaces, and luggage storage. Adjacent to landmarks like the sail-shaped Vasco da Gama Tower (145m), blending retail with sightseeing as a tourist appeal. Seasonal installations (e.g., Christmas lights) and brand collaborations keep the space dynamic. While not avant-garde, its thematic coherence (maritime identity), functional versatility (retail, dining, leisure), and prime location make it a Lisbon highlight. It caters equally to tourists exploring Expo ’98’s legacy and locals seeking convenience. Best for leisurely shopping, diverse dining, and riverfront exploration.

Centro Vasco da Gama is one of the best places in Lisbon if you’re looking to combine shopping, food, and sightseeing all in one stop. Its location couldn’t be better—right next to Oriente Station—so you can easily hop off the metro, train, or bus and walk straight inside. The mall is modern, bright, and easy to navigate. You’ll find plenty of international brands mixed with Portuguese shops, so it’s great whether you want familiar names or something more local. The food court has everything from fast bites to proper meals—but here’s a tip: head upstairs and sit by the big glass windows for fantastic views of the river. If you step outside the mall toward the riverside, you’ll discover the Parque das Nações promenade—a beautiful place for a stroll with views of the Vasco da Gama Bridge. It’s especially nice at sunset, when the whole area feels calm despite being right next to the shopping center. Another little secret: the rooftop terrace (accessible via the food court area) is often overlooked by visitors, but it’s a quiet spot to enjoy the fresh air with a view. Whether you’re here to shop, grab a meal, or just take in the scenery, Centro Vasco da Gama is a great stop for tourists and locals alike.

Vasco da Gama Mall in Lisbon. Location and Overview The Vasco da Gama Mall (Centro Vasco da Gama) is a major shopping center located in the modern Parque das Nações district in Lisbon. It opened in 2009 and is situated in a prime area, easily accessible via the Oriente train and metro station. The mall was built for the 1998 World Expo, contributing to the district's contemporary architecture. Stores and Shopping The mall features around 160 shops spread across three floors. While some reviews note a limited selection of famous global brands, it offers a diverse range of stores catering to various needs, from fashion to household goods. A key feature is the presence of a large Continente hypermarket on the ground level, which is convenient for both tourists and locals to buy anything they might need. Dining and Food Court The mall boasts an extensive food court on its top floor with a wide selection of dining options. Visitors can choose from various cuisines, including Portuguese, Chinese, and vegetarian options, with several vendors offering good value meal deals. The food court is complemented by an outdoor seating area that provides panoramic views of the Tagus River, making it an ideal spot to relax. Other Facilities and Features Beyond shopping and dining, the mall offers several leisure facilities. These include a six-screen cinema that operates until midnight and a health club. The architecture is modern and spacious, with amenities like ramps and elevators making it family-friendly and easy to navigate with strollers. The center also has ample paid parking, with around 2,600 parking spaces available.

Vasco da Gama Shopping Mall is one of Lisbon’s most impressive and modern shopping destinations, perfectly located in the Parque das Nações district, right by the beautiful Tagus River. From the moment you step inside, you can see why it’s a favorite among both locals and tourists. The architecture is bright, open, and elegant, with a lot of natural light streaming through the glass roof, giving the entire place a spacious and welcoming feel. The mall offers a fantastic variety of shops — everything from international brands like Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, and H&M, to electronics stores, bookstores, beauty shops, and Portuguese boutiques. Whether you’re looking for fashion, gifts, or something for everyday use, you’ll easily find it here. It’s also a great place for window shopping or simply relaxing in a clean, air-conditioned environment, especially on hot Lisbon afternoons. One of the highlights is the food court, which has a wonderful selection of restaurants and cafés to suit every taste and budget. You can enjoy fast food, international cuisine, or traditional Portuguese dishes while enjoying panoramic views of the river. There are also several sit-down restaurants outside the food court, some with terraces that overlook the Parque das Nações and the waterfront — perfect for a relaxing meal or sunset drink. The location couldn’t be more convenient: it’s right next to Oriente Station, which connects metro, bus, and train lines, making it easy to reach from anywhere in Lisbon or even from the airport. The mall is also surrounded by attractions like the Oceanário de Lisboa (Lisbon Oceanarium), the cable cars, and beautiful riverfront promenades. It’s a great area to spend the whole day exploring. Vasco da Gama Shopping Mall is always clean, safe, and well-maintained. The staff are polite and helpful, and the atmosphere feels calm and organized even when it’s busy. Whether you’re shopping, eating, or just taking a break during sightseeing, it’s a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy modern Lisbon at its best. In short: a perfect mix of shopping, dining, and leisure, all in a stunning riverside setting. Definitely one of the must-visit spots in Lisbon.

100000000% the BEST gelato in all of Lisbon. My friends and I stumbled upon this place by chance on holiday and we got so so lucky. We tried many other gelato places but this place was the real deal!! They had a variety of flavours to choose from, because we were in Lisbon, I mainly picked the Pastel de Nata flavour - which was extremely delicious. But depending on your choice of scoops (1,2,3 or more) - you can select more than one flavour of your choosing. After you’re done you can decide to eat your gelato as take away or eat in. There are plenty of places to sit inside and they have a few arcade games in the gelato shop as well. This was a great place to go to especially when the weather was a hot. A staple stop on our holiday a few months back.

Park
Jardim da Estrela is a serene and picturesque public garden located near the Basilica da Estrela and the English Cemetery. Established in the mid-19th century, it features lush greenery, charming waterfalls, and a playground for kids. The garden also houses rare trees and plants, making it an ideal spot for families, joggers, and those seeking a peaceful retreat.
Definitely one of the most loveliest gardens in Lisbon, if you come here for a few days, I would strongly recommend to see this place. Very cool for pet owners and children hence the park has playgrounds and a huge space for dogs to enjoy. Also, it’s a very good place just to meet and chill or enjoy your day in serenity.

I recently spent a peaceful afternoon at Jardim da Estrela in Lisbon, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots in the city. Located directly across from the grand Basílica da Estrela, this romantic-style park was inaugurated in 1852 and offers a refreshing blend of history, nature, and community life. The park spans 4.6 hectares and features winding paths shaded by exotic trees like jacarandas and ginkgoes, as well as beautifully maintained flower beds and small lakes with ducks and turtles. One of the standout features is the wrought-iron bandstand, originally built in 1884 and relocated here in 1936, which adds a touch of old-world charm. Families and locals gather here, especially on weekends, to enjoy the playgrounds, picnic areas, and the café with outdoor seating that serves light meals and drinks. The park is free to enter and open daily from 7 am to midnight, making it an accessible and welcoming space for everyone. Whether you're looking to relax, take a leisurely stroll, or immerse yourself in a bit of Lisbon's history, Jardim da Estrela offers a serene and delightful escape from the city's hustle and bustle.

This is a gorgeous park — perfect for people-watching or for families with kids who just want to escape the hustle and bustle of Lisbon. It’s a peaceful spot to unwind and enjoy a slower pace in the middle of the city, and it even has restrooms (although I wouldn't call them clean but they were free), which is always a plus when exploring!
Emmanuel H — Google review
The garden is truly magnificent. For the past several months, we have spent an hour here every afternoon, strolling and unwinding. The vibrant colors of the flowers, the soothing rustle of the leaves, and the gentle warmth of the sun create an atmosphere of pure serenity.

🌿 A Peaceful Oasis in the Middle of Lisbon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) We stumbled upon Jardim da Estrela on a warm afternoon, and it turned out to be one of the most peaceful and refreshing places we visited in Lisbon. It’s more than just a public park — it feels like a little urban sanctuary. The garden is beautifully maintained, filled with exotic plants, huge trees offering generous shade, and winding paths that invite you to slow down. What really stood out for me was the birdsong — there were so many birds, and their constant, melodic chirping made the whole place feel like a live sound bath. It’s incredibly soothing. If you have the time, don’t just walk through. Find a quiet corner, sit down, breathe, and maybe even meditate. This place is perfect for that. It’s not just visually calming, it actually sounds calming too. There are also benches, fountains, a lovely gazebo, and a charming little café nearby if you want to sit and sip something while watching the world go by. Families, joggers, solo readers, and locals chatting on benches all seem to coexist naturally here. It has a very authentic Lisbon energy — not overly touristy, just real life unfolding in a gorgeous setting. Quick Ratings: Atmosphere: 10/10 Birdsong & Nature Vibe: 10/10 Relaxation Potential: 11/10 Accessibility: 10/10 Instagram View: 8.5/10 Highly recommend making time for it — especially if you’re feeling overstimulated by the city. It’s the kind of place that quietly resets your mood. If this helped, I’d love a 👍 — and don’t forget to breathe deeply when you visit. 🌿✨

Mercado de Algés is a contemporary market and food court that underwent a transformation in 2015, converting one of its halls into a modern food court with various stalls offering diverse cuisines such as Asian, Mexican, and Italian. The space also features several bars, outdoor seating, and a stage for entertainment events like singing and stand-up comedy. Additionally, the market includes a farmer's market section.
Good place to hangout with friends and family. There are different cuisines, separate stalls for dessert and drinks. Food was tasty and place was clean.

Marcado de Algés is a charming and bustling market located in the heart of Algés, a picturesque neighborhood in Lisbon. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, this market brings together a blend of traditional Portuguese culture and modern flair, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists. The market features a variety of fresh produce, from colorful fruits and vegetables to locally sourced seafood, meats, and artisanal products. The quality is consistently high, and many of the vendors are friendly and eager to share their knowledge about the products they sell. It’s a great place for those looking to sample authentic Portuguese flavors or cook up a meal with fresh, regional ingredients. In addition to the traditional market offerings, Marcado de Algés also houses a selection of modern food stalls, cafés, and bars. These serve up a range of international cuisines and creative takes on classic Portuguese dishes, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a quick bite or a leisurely lunch. The atmosphere is lively, especially during weekends, with people gathering to enjoy food and drinks while soaking in the lively environment. The market is housed in a beautifully renovated building that maintains a balance between historic charm and contemporary design, offering a comfortable space to explore. While it’s not as large or as tourist-heavy as other Lisbon markets, Marcado de Algés has a more local, intimate vibe that feels inviting and authentic. Whether you’re looking for fresh ingredients to take home, a meal in a casual but stylish setting, or simply a taste of Lisbon’s vibrant food culture, Marcado de Algés is definitely worth a visit. Its combination of quality, authenticity, and welcoming environment makes it a standout in the city’s growing culinary scene.

Very nice place for a dinner or lunch. well organised and its very good place to spend time with friends with some drinks. All the festival here well celebrated and variety of options available. There is many parking spots opposite and beside the road also. Open until late for drinks only
Imdadul H — Google review
We haven't visited the market itself, so we can't say anything about that. But the restaurant was just a disaster. We were ignored for over an hour before getting our drinks, and then, to top it off, one of them was even the wrong order. The Aperol was tiny for the price, and honestly, the drinks weren't great anyway. Overall, a really disappointing experience.
Emilia B — Google review
We absolutely loved this food hall. It has a farmer's market also, that unfortunately wasn't open In this food hall, you had everything from Asian food, Mexican, Portuguese, etc. the had several bars and a stage which they use for singing and stand up comedy. Again, when we went it wasn't happening. They offer 2 for 1 drinks Thursday through Saturday for after work hours. Again, it wasn't the same time we went. So, the possibilities here are abound. I had seafood and it was great. The salad I had with my salmon was great, the veggies not so much. The grilled pepper and shrimp was really good. My husband had the Asian food and his soup was way too salty. My son had the spaghetti bolognese and he liked it, but I tried and not so much. He liked it, so whatever. We had a sangria that was sooooo good. I am obsessed with the sangria's here. The inside seating was rather hot so we went outside and it was nicer, but we felt the music was rather loud. Maybe because there wasn't too many people if felt loud. Regardless, we will definitely be back!! Hope to make it to one of their many events.

If you are in Alges I recommend you visit this place, it's nice inside, it has good air circulation, it has places to drink, to eat different styles of food, you have a very good Artesani ice cream shop, it's a good place to cool off, talk, drink with friends, important note: During the day it is a bit difficult to know if it is open or closed, there are not many people and the entrance is a bit difficult to find, I suggest you ask someone when you are around the place
Genesis J — Google review

Great food and choice. Eateries that don't have English menus on the wall beside them all seem to have English menus if you ask at the counter. Only downside is that the music is loud, so if you want to relax more, are hard of hearing or not in the mood for noise, this may annoy some people.

Nestled in the vibrant Alcântara district of Lisbon, Village Underground Lisboa (VUL) stands out as a creative and cultural oasis. This innovative hub is part of a global initiative that showcases striking architecture made from repurposed shipping containers and double-decker buses. VUL provides affordable workspaces, studios, and a cozy café, making it an ideal gathering spot for artists, entrepreneurs, and creative minds alike.
Nice and chill cafe with some underground/abandoned vibe, made up of containers and buses. It’s a very beautiful location and it is very close to the Ponte 25 de Abril, so I would recommend to stop here to take a drink before going to visit the bridge, which is just 50 meters away.

A nice vibe at this place. The motorway may be behind you and above your head, planes may be flying over every few minutes, but have a drink, listen to some great music and make new friends. And admire the local street art all around too. Food was great and you can eat on the bus if you want too :-D
Robin R — Google review
Village Underground is a very cool place. Perfect for people looking for an alternative place to chill with some friends while listening to good music. It’s like entering “the underground” because the whole bar is built around containers and broken buses that were renovated inside. You can even walk the steel stairs inside the container “labyrinth” and have a view into the abandoned train station. We went in a “open air” day so it was free, which was a bonus, techno and house music was playing and the vibe was unmatched! Everyone feels comfortable, and like they can be who they are. The so called “dance floor” is a little small which can be a problem for bigger parties outside, but there was a lot of space around it with swings and cool dancing benches! The night was not crowded so it was perfect for a nice chill night! After a party inside started and we didn’t stay for it but it went until 6AM and the price is only 15euros which doesn’t seem expensive for lisbon.
Inês B — Google review
This place is adorable and fun! Come ready with your camera. Plenty of seating and the flow of customers is steady so you don't have to wait too long for a good seat or service. The waitresses we had were very friendly and helpful. I was scared that maybe the food wouldn't match the atmosphere but I was completely wrong! The food was delicious! It's a perfect place for couples on a date, families, people with dogs, people who just want to people watch 🤭, and groups of friends. Plenty of parking but everyone who came, came in walking. I saw ashtrays so def smoker friendly.

Bar
A Ginjinha is a historic open-fronted bar located in Praca de Sao Domingos, Lisbon. It holds the distinction of being the first place in the city to sell Ginjinha, a local cherry-like liqueur. The bar was established in 1840 by Francisco Espinheira, who was advised by a friar to infuse ginja berries in Portuguese brandy along with sugar, water, and cinnamon.
Small place, big tradition! Cheap, tasty cherry liqueur — a classic Lisbon experience. Just grab a shot and enjoy.

Sticky floors! sticky floors! sticky floors Saturday 8:45PM. There was a bit of a queue but service was fast. Mix clientèle but mostly tourists. Had 2 shots. Love this cherry sour Portugese liquor. I prefer the other Ginjinha store nearby though.
Diane — Google review
Give yourself a treat with this amazing worthy shot to have a taste of Gijinha. Try with the cherry 🍒 to have a memorable experience. Thanks for the shot.
Jasper C — Google review
This is a fun experience, and the place has an interesting history. Their website describes the process as well as the history, a great read. Then, enjoying the shot is a thing to do in Lisbon, and it’s a pretty tasty - and strong - liqueur.
Les M — Google review
Loved the history, fast bar service, kindness of the people and tourists enjoying the cherry based Portuguese ginjinha. Fun experience with sticky floor.
Ayoung J — Google review
I'm allergic to cherries but had it anyway (I was fine, took a reactine). We had to try this spot when we're in Lisbon cause Anthony Bourdain recommended it. It's cash only and the Mr at the bar asks if you want with or without fruit in the shot glasses. Plus you can wash your hands by the little sink on the right since the liqueur can get quite sticky.
Queenie S — Google review
Nice place that keeps the local tradition right in the cuty center. Go there just to see the traditional serving and taste the famous liquior. I can assume in production they use below average quality alcohol - bad hangover is the proof of it. Having one shot is OK, but don't buy the bottle in this place, go to proper liqiuior store for that!

Great little shop. Free liquor samples. Very generously sized. No card payments, so bring your Euros if you plan to buy!

Cannery
Food products supplier
Nestled in the heart of Lisbon's Baixa district, Conserveira de Lisboa is a charming family-owned grocery store that has been delighting visitors since 1930. This iconic shop specializes in beautifully packaged canned seafood, particularly its renowned sardines and tuna. As you step inside, you'll be transported back to the delightful ambiance of the 1930s, with colorful tins lining every wall and whimsical stuffed sardines hanging from the ceiling—perfect for capturing children's imaginations.
A canned fish shop that opened in 1930 and has a wide variety of canned fish! If you don‘t know what to choose, you can ask the staff to introduce and recommend! Canned food is quite delicious! The store is small, so the stay time is very short. You can quickly line up in your itinerary, buy some cans or take some photos, which is a place you can skip.
Antony T — Google review
A great place to buy souvenirs and canned fish. The staff members were nice; they would introduce the products to customers. It’s pretty crowded as many people shop there.
Karen C — Google review
I must give it five even six stars! Absolutely the best canned product stores in Lisbon! Eleven years ago, I visited here and bought several types of cans including sardines, moules, cavala, etc. They use vintage, distinctive paper and carefully tied ropes to wrap gifts, making both giving and receiving a joyful experience. This September, I visited Lisbon again, and also visited the store. The store maintains a consistently vintage and minimalist atmosphere just like eleven years ago. The products, the packaging as always. I really really recommend every tourist come here and bring the most wonderful gifts for yourself and your friends when you come to Lisbon!
Chris K — Google review
The shopping experience was not exactly smooth because the shop provides zero product translations and when asked about the information of different fish cans the owner answered super briefly and you would feel pressured to find out on your own and decide as soon as possible.
Kero C — Google review
Go here if you want to bring back some tinned fish back home whether as a gift or for yourself. They have the best prices for the quality that you can get (2-5 euros each depending on the variety. They got sardines, tuna, cod, anchovies and more! Besides grocery stores, everywhere else has insane prices. The staff are friendly here and will explain to you the varieties. Be ready for a line up though!
Mark C — Google review
Haven't tried the fish yet, but I liked that it felt more authentic than others in the area. Nothing flashy inside the small shop. The men that worked there weren't particularly chatty, but I liked that it was a quick transaction.
Erica T — Google review
So glad we chanced upon this place. Bought a few cans of sardines. One could tell the two gentlemen in the store took pride in their shop and wrapped each order with care.
Jasmine — Google review
My husband loved visiting this store. You can tell they have been around for a long time and for a reason. They started canning seafood in Lisbon. Very affordable with cute packaging. They also pack well for transport. We saw it in a Somebody Feed Phil episode & since we Filipinos love sardines too, we needed take some home to enjoy in CH. The sardines are bigger than what we are used to but it’s canned fresh which is the most important part. A great thing to take home from Portugal if you have the weight allowance. The variety is phenomenal.

Restaurant
Miguel Castro e Silva is a Michelin starred chef from Porto, Portugal who has brought his unique style of cooking to Time Out Market Lisbon. His menu includes dishes like bacalhau a bras, which is braised cod with potatoes and onions. This restaurant is perfect for al fresco lunch on a warm summer day.
The time out food market is very touristy, I haven’t seen any locals there. That said, I think it is still an opportunity to try amazing food for an affordable price. I had the sausage rice with braised pork and it was divine. Highly recommend! On a Tuesday, after 12:30, it was hard, but not impossible to find a table for 2+ people.
Thuany S — Google review
I had a meal at Miguel Castro e Silva in the Time Out Market, and overall, the food was good. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced. I was expecting a bit more of a "wow" factor, but it was still an enjoyable meal. The convenience of the market setting makes it a great spot to grab a quality bite while exploring other food options.
Kelly C — Google review
Got the Bacalhau À Bras. The timeout market is incredibly busy, it took a good 15 to 20 minutes before the food was ready. Considering this place was located in the market, it was actually pretty decent.
Christine P — Google review
Eating at the busy Time Out Market is a fun experience, as long as you can find seating. This is a busy market with many food vendors. We chose Miguel Castro e Silva and had the Bachlau a Bras, which was incredible. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was ordering other than knowing it was codfish. Was very pleased with the presentation and exquisite flavor. I think this is this vendors specialty. Would definitely eat her again and order the same.
Derek W — Google review
Food was amazing. Chicken was so good and nice and moist. Fries were crispy and peppers a great touch.
Luke L — Google review
Great quality food! The Chicken Peri Peri was sold out unfortunately. We ordered 3 dishes and 2 drinks. Reasonably priced given the quality of food. Seating can be tricky in the Time Out but everyone is friendly knowing we all just want to eat 🤣

Everything wasn’t perfect but the caldo verde soup was delicious, best I’ve had on the trip through Portugal. The market is hot and touristic but Miguel is a good option.
