Seafood restaurant
Cervejaria Ramiro is a bustling seafood and beer spot that has been around since the 1950s. It's a popular haunt for both locals and tourists, with queues often stretching down the street. The restaurant gained international attention when Anthony Bourdain featured it on his show, No Reservations. Despite its name, Cervejaria Ramiro is renowned for its exceptional seafood offerings such as lobster, prawns, crab, clams cooked in olive oil and garlic, and more.
When we arrived, they almost seemed like they expecting us to they ushered us to the patio entrance while asking everyone else to go to the main door. The server told us our table would be ready in a few moments as the previous guests were just settling up. The wait took a little longer, so he offered to start us off with drinks while we waited. It was such nice and thoughtful service. That level of service was provided throughout the meal with every staff member. When we didn’t know how to eat the barnacles, they were so excited to show us how to take it out of the shell and eat it. I’m sure they’ve done it for so many tourists. It’s the attentiveness and friendly service that really made our visit so memorable. Of course the food was spectacular. The seafood with so fresh. And the shrimp with garlic was out of this world. 10/10 recommend

The seafood here is incredibly fresh. You can really taste the ocean in every bite. My absolute favorite was the scarlet prawns. The flavor just exploded in my mouth, and the tender, buttery texture was beyond amazing. It’s a true culinary experience and honestly, a food orgasm. 10/10 a must-try when you’re in town! 🦐🤤
Nicholas P — Google review
Recommend you reserve as otherwise could be quite a wait. Absolute 5/5 from the food, to the atmosphere, to the staff. Every dish we tried was delicious, although my personal favourite was the razor clams in garlic oil. If you can imagine your ideal seafood experience, this would be it. Highly recommend you dip the bread into the sauces (like the garlic oil) - it pairs very well together. Staff was friendly and attentive. Empty dishes were cleared quickly. There was no upselling on food - we had eyes larger than our stomachs and the staff wisely advised that what we had was enough and we can order more if we wanted to - and the food spoke for itself as we were all very satisfied and happy at the end of our meal. Of all the restaurants I’ve tried thus far in Lisbon, this would be one I’d come back to over and over again.
Cindy H — Google review
We had seafood here — honestly, some of the best we’ve ever had! Everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The wine we had alongside was also excellent. A must-visit for seafood lovers! Worth to wait to have a seat.
Anıl — Google review
Had the absolute best meal here. Seafood lovers only ! The dishes are simply prepared but made with fresh seafood and cooked to perfection. We tried the spider crab which was prepared with sauce made from the innards of the crab. We also had grilled and sauces tiger prawns , scallops, gooseneck barnacles and oysters - try with a green wine and you can’t go wrong. The servers here were all so lovely - must visit when in Lisbon . Make sure to make a reservation in advance
Cindy H — Google review
The seafood had a special red shrimp dish that I really liked. The razor clams looked unique but didn’t taste that good. Seafood in Portugal is generally quite salty for my taste — in Vietnam, it’s sweeter, more delicious, and cooked in so many ways. So for me, this was more of a “try it once to experience” kind of thing. May.
Wenny H — Google review
OMG we loved our lunch here! It exceeded our high expectations after all the great reviews we read. It's a classic, kind of "old school" yet very comfortable and lovely space, the service is prompt and very attentive (our guy Tiago was incredible and very funny), and the food is some of the best we have had. We had the shrimps in garlic, the were perfectly done and I could have drank the saute sauce out of a cup. The clams were equally as delicious and the dish of cold crab, served in a crab shell, was creative and very tasty as well. The topper was the "sobremesa", the dessert, that we read that Anthony Bordain loved - the steak sandwich! Such a decadently savory way to end this epic meal. They also have a great wine list. Go!!
John H — Google review
We were a group of 8 friends celebrating our friendship in Lisbon. We loved the food especially the red scarlet prawns, razor clams, garlic prawns, hairy crabs, and delicious vino verde . We had a good time eating, drinking , laughing and enjoying our friendship. Thank you for the excellent service from Nunu Santos who made us feel at home at such an established and amazing restaurant. We really enjoyed and appreciated our time in Ramiro restaurant. Anyone coming to Lisbon should experience the fresh seafood n the service of Nunu Santos at Ramiro.

Gambrinus is a renowned restaurant known for its traditional Portuguese seafood dishes and simple yet elegant setting. The menu features an array of fish and seafood options, with specialties like grilled sea bream and sea bass served with clams. In addition to seafood, the restaurant also offers meat dishes, including game. With a history spanning nearly 80 years, Gambrinus has welcomed numerous national and international personalities, adding to its old-world charm.
The restaurant gave me an old schooled vibe... I love how attentive they were in service. I personally loved the local prawns steamed and salted. Percebes was done well!! This dish could have been the juiciest goose neck barnacles I have ever eaten!!!! The seafood stew was of course the highlight of the meal, and oh, the portion of rice was fluffy and cooked to perfection!!

What an amazing place. It's like travelling back in time. Top notch produce, old school super professional service, classic recipes, everything is exactly as it should be. The decoration of the place is a little outdated, but as far as I'm concerned that just adds to the charm. One of the best meals I've had in Lisbon. Be ready to pay a fair price for it though! Not for the stingy!
Mikel Q — Google review
Dining at Gambrinus in Lisbon was an unforgettable experience. The service is truly first-class — the waiters are warm, attentive, and move with such precision and coordination that it feels like a well-choreographed performance, always focused on every detail for the guest. The food was incredible, every dish absolutely delicious, and the restaurant itself is stunning. Without a doubt, a unique experience not to be missed when in Lisbon.

What a first class experience! Our party of 3 thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, attentive service, great wine selection, and delicious food. From start to finish, we felt like we had stepped into a different world and had the utmost appreciation for it. Highly recommend!

Classical Portuguese - amazing. Highest quality food I’ve had thus far in the city, everything is simple, clean and quality - no faff. Warm shrimps - great simple comforting and delicious Sole - very very good - delicious full of flavor - would have again no doubt Steak filet - out of this world. Probably best steak I’ve had in a couple years. Melted like butter, perfect cooking point ( for medium rare), no nerves or anything, just perfection. Highly recommend.
Dana G — Google review
An authentic taste of old Lisbon at the bar. We didn't have time for a full meal, but we couldn't resist popping into the legendary Gambrinus. We stood at the magnificent, old-world bar and ordered two simple things: a croquete and an oyster. The oyster was shucked perfectly right at the bar - briny, fresh, and clean. The croquete was a masterpiece of the genre: fantastically crispy on the outside with a smooth, flavorful filling that was clearly homemade. It was the perfect way to experience a slice of this iconic restaurant's charm without a full sit-down meal. The barman was efficient and classic, the atmosphere was buzzing, and it felt like stepping back in time. Highly recommend this bar-side experience for a quick, high-quality bite.

This place gives an old-school steak house vibe inside, but specializes in seafood. Our meal was quite good, and the service was excellent. We enjoyed our dinner here

Portuguese restaurant
Trindade is a renowned historic Portuguese restaurant located in a former monastery, offering a unique dining experience with its impressive display of tiles, frescos, arches, and a charming courtyard. Situated in the elegant district of Chiado, it is considered a classic in Lisbon's restaurant scene. The establishment boasts Portugal's oldest brewery and presents an extensive menu featuring traditional Portuguese dishes such as Arroz de Marisco and an array of seafood options along with grilled steaks.
We didn't know what to expect but this place has some of the best seafood we've had in Europe. The cataplana stew in particular was absolutely incredible. It came in the traditional dish which was cool to see. It was full of clams, shrimp, and big chunks of delicious white fish. The stew itself was nice and spicy and tasted like it'd been cooking for days. We started with a crab dip which was also good, and came in the shell - a nice touch. The octopus was also great - the perfect texture you're looking for. We also had their famous beer, which was a nice amber with full flavor and not something I've seen anywhere else in southern Europe. The interior of the building is also covered in painted tiles which are gorgeous. Overall, a really cool spot to have dinner.
Jay W — Google review
We stopped in to look and have some drinks. All of our group enjoyed the atmosphere and the beer they have there. Their lager was my favorite. I took some pictures because all the great tile work and included there display of what’s available to eat seafood wise. Stop in, you will be happy you did.
Ray T — Google review
The restaurant exudes grandeur the moment you step in .A cathedral of light and tiles. Vaulted ceilings arch overhead, chandeliers glow like halos, and walls gleam with exquisite Portuguese azulejos, each panel a hand-painted story in blue and gold. The atmosphere is majestic, echoing with quiet conversation and the clink of cutlery against polished stone tables — elegance layered in history. Yet, beneath all that splendour, the food falls short of its setting. While the presentation was refined, the flavours were merely average, lacking the vibrance the room promises. The service, however, was attentive and polished, and pricing reasonable considering the lavish surroundings. In short , a restaurant that dazzles the eyes but not quite the palate. The grandeur remains unmatched; the food, regrettably, does not rise to meet it.
Rudy L — Google review
I booked Trindade for my bf's birthday celebration. Staff are attentive & friendly. They worked their best to accommodate my needs. Food is amazing. We order roasted octopus, seafood platter (medium), trio dessert & 2 drinks. 👍🏻 The decor of the restaurant is very beautiful. The only down side was ... there were 2 groups of Chinese tours in the restaurant and they were way too loud. 🙉🙉🙉 The dining experience would be perfect if it was not that noisy. 👌🏻
Abby L — Google review
I visited this place three times during my 6 day staying in Lisboa. The staffs are very kind and the foods were very tasty also. Especially Aurea Lager, which is the best draft beer I've ever had. Me and my friend drank 5 pints each(which made my friend super exhausted 🤣) but we wanted more...
James L — Google review
⭐ 1 out of 5 stars The place is undeniably beautiful and perfect for photos, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the aesthetics. Service was slow, and the staff seemed visibly irritated throughout our visit. I ordered the Bacalhau à Brás, which tasted like it had been frozen — I’ve honestly had better meals at fast food chains. When we asked to split the bill, the staff couldn’t manage it. Upon speaking with the manager, we were met with hostility and shouting, which was completely uncalled for. Aesthetics aside, the poor service and disappointing food.
Rodrigo P — Google review
Trindade is a unique spot as it used to be a monastery, and I really liked the cozy and charming environment. We ordered a white wine to go with our meal, along with the “Lisbona seafood platter” which came with oyster, crab, coast prawns, large shrimps, and goose barnacles. The seafood platter was okay overall – fresh, but we’ve had better shrimps and prawns elsewhere. We also tried the charcoal roasted octopus, which was decent but not outstanding. The highlight for us was definitely the grilled codfish fillet “À Lagareiro” – perfectly charcoal-grilled, bathed in olive oil, and served with potatoes. The codfish was flavorful and the potatoes soaked up the olive oil beautifully. Overall, the atmosphere and setting were memorable, and while not every dish wowed us, the codfish made it worthwhile.

Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. More spacious than expected. A former convent with an interesting history. Some exquisite tiled walls. Portuguese tapas was very tasty and the local beer excellent.

Sea Me Peixaria Moderna is a contemporary restaurant in Chiado that offers a fusion of Portuguese and Japanese seafood dishes, including live lobster and crab. It is part of a group of renowned restaurants in Lisbon, such as Boa Bao and Bairro do Avillez. The restaurant also has a branch at the Time Out Market in Cais do Sodre, known for its octopus hot dogs and diverse food options.
Seriously unique and wonderful experience. The menu has a wide range of sea food with a small fish market included. The staff was super kind in helping to pick out the right dishes for us. They even explained every dish option on the marked stand to us. We had sushi mostly, which was delicious. I would definitely recommend the tuna tartar with white chocolate. Would definitely go again! They seemed kid friendly, since there were tons a kids around!

One of the best meals I have ever had at a very reasonable price. Great service and atmosphere. Had the bread with black butter, olive oil and crab dip, the octopus carpaccio, the tuna tar tar on brioche, scallops and the fatty tuna sashimi. All were excellent. Highly recommend.
Alex S — Google review
The service was great! All the wait staff were very informative and friendly. The fish was very fresh and you can pick out your fish! The food was delicious and well cooked. Overall it was one of my favorite meals in Lisbon and I would love to come back again someday. Our waiters spoke English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Dorathy J — Google review
This was an amazing experience. You can pick your fish to have prepared for you! Fantastic restaurant. All the locals go there. You absolutely need a reservation. They open at 7pm.
June S — Google review
Loved the look and vibe of the place. Lots of fresh fish and seafood options, a bit overpriced IMO. I live in FL and understand price is elevated for whole fish in a restaurant but this was even more so. And each item was a la cart for sides to go with the overpriced fish. We split a fish and it was WAY to salty. Ruined taste of the fish, that was cooked perfectly. I could scrape off rocks of salt from the fish but still very salty. Appetizer bread was very good, and cuttle fish spread yummy.
Nicole M — Google review
unique fish market to table experience with delicious seafood offerings otherwise. popular spot so reserve early in advance. portions are great for sharing as you'll want to order a few things to try.

Lisbon has amazing food scene and is getting better day by day. Most of the good places are small holes in the wall concept in the centre of city. Sea food is best option in most of Portugal 🇵🇹 and Lisbon has many causal places which have best choices. This is one of them and has a best menu if you want to try fish, shrimps, lobsters, clams, mussels etc and list goes on. Dish soap and shrimps in olive oil were best for me. My wife enjoyed mussels and clams which were best too.
Kayman — Google review
We came in for lunch when it was nearly empty. The service was very friendly. The food was great! We got a variety of dishes, including sushi, clams, scallops, and the grilled vegetables and potatoes. The bread is also worth it. Very cool experience and vibe. I would go back and recommend it to friends.

Bacalhau, a Portuguese salt cod dish, is a national favorite and can be found in various forms across Lisbon. The fish is slowly cooked in olive oil to maintain its succulence and flavor. With over 80 different varieties of cod available off the coast, it can be prepared in numerous ways such as Bacalhau a Bras, Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa, Bacalhau com Natas, and pataniscas.
Nice service, positive faces. We went 2 times during our Lisbon trip. Delicious food, good wine and reasonable prices. Thanks and hello to my beautiful lady waitress (sorry I forgot her name)

Very friendly local environment, good food, reasonably priced, came here 3 times in 5 days just to try out all their famous dishes... highly recommended! My Recommendation: Bacalhau in cream sauce Portueguese steak Grilled octopus Grilled Bacalhau - it's a shame that they overcooked the cod 😭 4 star for food for this reason...

Visit if you want Portuguese food :) I ordered [Alentejana Soup], which was very unique interesting soup with soaked bread and egg. [Piri-piri Chicken] tasted as expected and [Lagareiro Grilled Codfish] was my first grilled fish in Lisbon, which was a great success! All paired well with green wine :) super recommend

The food was good Good to try local food It’s usually a problem when the recipes are local for tourist to be sure what they order (menu with photos could help) since part of the personnel didn’t speak English We sat outside so the service was slower but ok

We found this Restaurant via Google and the food was really delicious 😍🤩also the Service was outstanding friendly and we also had a really nice bottle of vino verde 🥂the price is very fair! - all in all a 10/10 recommendation!

Rosa O — Google review
The food quality was awful. Very disappointed since the ratings seem so high for the restaurant? The servers were lovely, but we did not even get napkins. The steak (the Portuguese way) looked that of cafeteria food, plus undercooked. The octopus was overcooked and salted. I immediately felt my stomach churn despite giving it a shot, as not all good food looks presentable. This missed the mark. If you see the restaurant is empty, there is a good reason for it (we were the only ones there). Tourist trap

Portuguese restaurant
Nestled near the Lavra elevator in downtown Lisbon, Solar dos Presuntos is a culinary gem that showcases the best of traditional Portuguese cuisine. Since its establishment in 1974, this restaurant has become a beloved destination for both business lunches and family gatherings. The inviting atmosphere is perfect for enjoying an array of dishes featuring fresh fish and seafood alongside hearty meat options, all served in a warm, family-style setting.
An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Solar dos Presuntos From start to finish, our visit to Solar dos Presuntos was nothing short of exceptional. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between tradition and elegance, setting the stage for what turned out to be a truly memorable meal. We started with a selection of tapas and cheeses, each bursting with authentic Portuguese flavors — a perfect way to awaken the palate. The lobster soup was rich, velvety, and packed with flavor, easily one of the best we’ve ever tasted. And then came the star of the meal: a perfectly cooked medium steak, tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was a reminder of the kitchen’s skill and attention to detail. Beyond the incredible food, what really stood out was the impeccable service. The staff was professional, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Attentive without being overbearing, they made us feel welcome and well cared for throughout the entire evening. Solar dos Presuntos delivers not just a meal, but a full culinary experience.

Amazing restaurant! Definitely deserves a 5 star rating. The atmosphere and environment in the restaurant was top quality. The food is traditional Portuguese and will not disappoint, it was some of the best I've had in any restaurant in Lisbon. Considering the quality, I would say the restaurant is reasonably priced. It was around 25-35 euros for mains with the portions being very generous. I'll definitely be back soon!
Kyle D — Google review
A true high-end dining experience in Lisbon! The atmosphere is fantastic, featuring a wall full of celebrity photos, which adds a touch of glamour. We ordered the grilled sea bass for three, and it was absolutely outstanding—perfectly cooked, flaky, and exceptionally tasty. For dessert, I tried the famous "Grandma's Secret Recipe (since 1974)". It was wonderfully creamy, though perhaps a tad on the sweet side for my personal taste. Overall, the food quality is top-tier and well worth the price. Highly recommend. P.S. I found this restaurant via Google Gemini AI, you also could try it ;)
Jorvik Z — Google review
Loved our experience! Food was delicious! Our server was fantastic but service was not what it should have been because they gave him a huge table to serve in addition to two others. Bad planning on the management staff! I do recommend though as the food was very good.

The food, the staff and the atmosphere were all amazing! This is the place if you are looking for authentic Portuguese food in a semi-formal environment. I love how they bring out the seafood all on a platter and you choose which ones you want them to cut and cook. It’s a fancy place but not too fancy (saw families with small kids as well). The food was excellent. The cod fish is a bit salty. Be aware. Bernardo Allegro the waiter and the entire staff, did an excellent job! He did inform us that the cod dish was salty but we had to try for ourselves. The steaks were fabulous, I highly recommend ordering one of the steaks. You can't go wrong with a good steak and they certainly know what they are doing. We had an excellent bottle of local wine, Verde vino the waiter had chosen for us. Service was impacable. The waiters are very proffessional and for sure they know their job well. For sure I recommend this restaurant. Thank you Bernardo A. for a wonderful meal and a great experience!

The ambience is special. With a gorgeous rooftop and various rooms available for private functions and regular dining rooms there is something for everyone. Two of us went to the rooftop for a drink and optimistic about dinner but without reservations. Shortly after we were pleasantly surprised there was a table available. Once seated our waiter was super helpful and very friendly. The food was excellent! We will be back!

5 stars all around. Very cool vibe in here with all the photos on the walls and history. Food was amazing, pricey but worth it. We were so full from lunch so shared octopus salad and paella- the octopus salad was one of the best I’ve had. Really wish we could have tried more here go with a big group!

Nestled in the heart of Lisbon on Rua dos Sapateiros, Marisqueira Uma is a charming seafood haven that has captured the hearts of both locals and visitors alike. While the menu may be limited to just a handful of options like omelets, steaks, and cod, it’s clear why this spot stands out: their renowned seafood rice. This dish is often hailed as one of the best in the city and draws crowds eager to indulge in its rich flavors.
Great taste of the garlic shrimp! The first time to drink a cup of green wine with sparking, suitable for launch. And juicy seafood rice with kinds of fresh seafood. When I walk by in the raining, the restaurant really provide a warm and cozy experience in my trip. Thanks Asuka, Jeni, and Roze.

This place has a lean menu but a great one! I enjoyed the seafood rice thoroughly, they have single portions which is great for solo travelers. The ladies Asuka, Jeni, Rozee were also great, the service was good! I was not used to the tools they provided for cracking the crab and they so kindly taught me how to use it, and even tucked an extra napkin into my shirt for me!

Asuka and Jenifer are our waitress. We have two people and luckily there was no queue for us. The seafood rice is veryy very good (we have basically cleaned up the pot, not a single rice is left 真的太好吃了, 蟹肉啊, 蝦阿, 飯粒全部吃乾抹淨)! And their service are also very good, too. They are kind and nice. At the end we even got a treat with the Jinga (櫻桃利口酒) which is also very tasty! 😋 I attach a photo where I take three spoons out of the spot, so it is clearer what is contained.

Our friends took us here — they said it’s their favorite place in Lisbon. And now we know why! Wonderful meal! Wonderful staff! Pooja made our experience even better. We ordered the Arroz de Marisco and not a single morsel was left - LOL!

Uma Marisquera is an absolute gem, and their Seafood Rice (Arroz de Marisco) is easily the best I've ever tasted. Beyond the incredible cuisine, the experience was elevated by the fantastic team running the show. Sajan and Jeni are, without a doubt, the best hosts in the business. They made us feel instantly welcome, provided impeccable service, and genuinely cared that we had a wonderful dining experience. Their warmth and attentive nature truly make Uma Marisquera feel like dining at a friend's home.

Amazing local seafood rice, like wow, we finished the whole pot and garlic shrimp and still want more. Nice service, Jennifer was checking our order timely and welcomed us nicely. Definitely worth a taste!

The most authentic restaurant in Lisbon! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding. The waiters were kind, friendly, and very attentive — they even offered us a complimentary liqueur at the end of our meal. We felt truly welcome and cared for. Out of all the restaurants we visited during our holiday, this was by far the best experience. Highly recommend visiting — it’s something you won’t forget! 🇵🇹✨

The food here was amazing, they have a simple menu but they do it so well. I'd recommend skipping the bread, but for the seafood rice, it is a must get. My only complaint with it is that it was gone to soon! It was great and would have loved if it came with more rice. Be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes as thats how long the preparation of the dish is. The food is super enjoyable though so worth it. Atmosphere wise, it is very much small and quaint. The chairs they use are hard so sitting down for a long period of time does take it's toll. Overall, this was a great experience and would recommend it to anyone !

Best food in Lisbon we have had. Reasonably priced meals and wine.. not inexpensive. Can get very busy. They have both inside and outside seating. Outside is not so obvious that this is theirs. Very Portuguese menu.

Very good. I rarely give 5 stars. They take the food out 1 at a time. You can take your time to taste and enjoy the seafood. Why rush? It takes time to taste the seafood. The crab is amazing. It is fresh and sweet. Especially the crab shell fat thing.......it is such rich flavor....omg! Put some one the bread and it tastes like heaven. The clams in soup........ omg it is so good. Perfect with the bread. It is perfectly made. The grilled seabass is awesome. How it suppose to be! Grill mark on the fish but the meat is really tender. Good. Good . Good.

After reading about this place in timeout magazine top 10 I was super excited to get there. Unfortunately, although the seafood looked amazing and fresh it wasn’t cooked well. Oysters were good standard fare. Sadly, my tiger prawns were over cooked and way too salty with chunks of sea salt. The fries were barely warm and chewy and the tomatoes in my mixed salad were not fresh. 70 euro for two tiger prawns that were not great and over 100 for our bill with beers. Disappointed.
Shannon R — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience. The food, the service, the vibes! Wonderful. Nuno our waiter is definitely a great part of our experience. We had the large seafood cold platter, a lobster, and the clams dish. Ended it with some Portuguese port . Super super!
Ah S — Google review
The reason for the 1* review is that my partner got food poisoning here. My partner and I were very excited about coming because we had heard a lot about Portuguese seafood. We ended up ordering seafood by the kilo here. We got steamed clams, gooseneck barnacles, espinho and coastal shrimp, whelk and crab. I'll start by saying that the clams, gooseneck barnacles and shrimp were good. The crab was dry, a bit leathery, and the crab back was way too salty. The big problem was the whelk. We ordered 6 pieces, I ate one of them and noticed that the odor was really strong. I tried to eat another and the smell was so foul, I couldn't eat it. Unfortunately, my partner decided to eat that one and the rest of the whelks. 4-5 hours later he starts having severe stomach issues. This establishment really needs to check the quality of their seafood; subpar freshness is not ideal but okay, but no seafood should make a patron sick.

Last night in Lisbon. Looking forward to cataplana Found what seemed to be seemed authentic review of cataplana. Turned up night before and booked table window. Arrive tonight. Sorry! All gone except a tiny single table. My wife and I crushed in. Food was nice without being great. On leaving they were very excited to encourage me to tip. No thanks. I normally tip generously but not for this fiasco. Met the waitress from last night on the way out. Started blaming her colleague! Some things never change. Own up to the error and move on I'd say. Place was quiet anyway......

Nunes Real Marisqueira is a top seafood restaurant in Lisbon, known for its lively atmosphere and generous portions. The Art Deco dining room creates a unique ambiance for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu features a wide variety of Portuguese seafood classics as well as modern interpretations of fresh sea fare. Located near the Jeronimos Monastery, Nunes offers some of the freshest and best seafood in the area, including the adventurous option of trying Percebes (goose barnacles).
It’s a very nice overall experience. The restaurant is beautiful with all the seafood displayed for your selection. Including large fish tanks with the lobster. The grouper with clams was amazing. Cooked to perfection and the taste was outstanding. The shrimp starter was great. We also had the lobster and potato dish with the eggs on top. The lobster dish was decent but I wasn’t thrilled with the sauce, so I probably wouldn’t order that again. Staff and service were attentive and fantastic.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Nunes Real Marisqueira, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The seafood was absolutely outstanding – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. To complement the meal, their wine selection was fantastic, with pairings that elevated every dish. What truly stood out, however, was the service. The staff were attentive, professional, and genuinely warm, making sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. They managed to strike the perfect balance between being present and giving us space to enjoy the meal. The restaurant itself feels elegant and luxurious, yet maintains a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, which makes it the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable. Overall, Nunes Real Marisqueira is a gem – a place where excellent food, wine, and service come together seamlessly. Absolutely worth a visit!

Definitely for the seafood and fish lovers (the meat looked good as well). The food was fresh and flavorful, and the service was friendly. We started with a delicious seafood soup, followed by a perfectly cooked sea bass baked in coarse salt — the waiter skillfully filleted it right at the table, and it was soft, hot, and melted in the mouth. It was hard to choose what to order, as everything on the menu and around us looked so tempting. Although the restaurant is located away from the city center, it was absolutely worth the drive. Highly recommended.

Amazing food and service. This place is 5 star! One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Very tender, juicy and flavorful! Will visit again before I leave Lisbon. Will probably order seafood next time. Can’t wait to visit again

Outstanding seafood! We normally visited another “popular” seafood restaurant nearby but we thought it became too touristy so we decided to try A Marisqueira do Lis. Wow! The seafood was fantastic especially the king prawn! We love the clams. And the bread! We can’t stop eating it. Service is also great, the server was friendly and not pushy at all. Will definitely visit again.

Unfortunately the experience was not as good as I was expecting. I went there since the restaurant was recommended by a Portuguese work colleague. When I walked in for lunch (12:30pm) the waiters didn't even noticed me, it took a while to be seated. After a few minutes on the table, one young waiter approached and just threw the menus on the table, not even saying anything. Luckily, another waiter took over and despite the difficulties with the English language I managed to order something. The dishes I was looking for, they didn't have. So I opted for another different ones. Definitely the seafood was fresh but can't justify that high end restaurant prices. 3 dishes, house bread and water, almost 77 euros (tip not included). The carabineros were nice but one of them was way to big for grilling, so the taste wasn't that good. The garlic shrimp casserole very nice in size, but despite of the amount of garlic, it's was t Google Lens best in my opinion was the "caldinho de camarão" (seafood soup) was quite tasty.

Clearly a very popular restaurant and for good reason. We were a group of 4 and shared the platter for 2 and had a giant tiger prawn each. The food was well presented, tasted amazing and was well worth what we paid.

Decent food but terrible service, won’t be coming back. We got a 2-person seafood platter and octopus salad which was enough for three of us. We were recommended to come here by a tour guide and arrived around 6pm on a weekend and had no wait. The waiter was extremely impatient and asked for our drink order within two minutes of sitting down but didn’t even bring us a drink menu until we asked what the options were when he came to take our order. The waiter also spilled the wine all over the table when he brought it to us and didn’t say anything when we asked about the charge for the bread and sliced meat that he brought to us with the wine, which ended up costing us €4 and €14 respectively which we wouldn’t have eaten if he’d answered us at the beginning.
Joan-Shiao C — Google review
Absolutely an authentic seafood restaurant. We had shrimps with garlic, some oysters and portion of clams with bread and all was fantastic and perfect for 2 people. The service was impeccable. We went around 1:00 on a Monday and it wasn’t crazy busy which was nice. You could tell it’s a well respected local joint by the patrons and workers coming and going.

We had a phenomenal meal here. Big thanks to friendly staff who helped me picked out a live lobster. Also taught me the proper way to eat Percebes (goose barnacles) which were fresh and delicious. Toasted bread and pork loin appetizers went perfectly with beer and wine. Ordered lobster to be grilled, yummy! Husband enjoyed his grilled grouper as well. This seemed to be a local favorite, the atmosphere was lively. I had communication difficulties from speaking only english. Luckily there's Google Translate. :) We loved our dinner. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful local gem—tucked right next to the market, this place is all about fresh, honest food and warm hospitality. This place was an unexpected find. I am new to Portuguese cuisine and Tasca Da Esquina has just set the bench mark for me. I never experienced such a mix of flavours that goes so well together. Who would have thought Iberian pork would have tasted so good cooked with fresh clams in white wine & garlic sauce. I also never expected perfected baked grilled octopus to go so well with sweet potatoes and almonds. The other component that made this place so special, their service staff. All of them attentive, friendly, jovial and helpful. Really enjoyed our meal here. Our first visit to Lisbon, and our best meal yet.

6 out of 5 stars for service. But food is sadly overrated esp for the price point. Thr atmosphere is also quite uncomfortable given that indoor and outdoor area has hard any divide, cigarettes fumes easily entered the indoor area. A surprising amount of mosquito too. We were charged €12 for a covert consisting of 4 pieces of thin bread, one vodka shot cup’s worth of very standard olive, plus one tiny portion of butter. The kitchen service was chaotic, a few tables arriving much later were served their starter and meal way before we were. The octopus was well cooked, however it is excessively salty and must be balanced out by the sauce accompanying, which is offered in a very low amount. There are better locations to enjoy octopus even within campo de ourique, offering better price quality ratio, less overcrowding, amongst smoke and buzzing mosquitos .

Had our last dinner here in Lisbon and highly recommend it! The service is amazing and the price was reasonable. My only qualm was that both entrees were a bit similar in terms of the sides with a tad too much oil for our personal liking but the protein itself was cooked well. Would still highly recommend if looking for a great atmosphere and good seafood.

Awesome meal for our last day in Lisboa :) Made a reservation through google for lunchtime. And i think it was a good choice to do so because by the time i was out, it was fully packed with a waiting line outside. Ordered some glass wines, bread & sirloin bites, with tuna steak and Lagareiro octopus. Absolutely out of this park!! Tuna steak (grilled medium) was my favorite. Love the tenderness, flavor, and harmony with the veggies:) Last meal was very worth its price. Great service and awesome staff.

Where do I begin — we dined here twice during our stay in Lisbon and everything was amazing, from the food to the service, to the atmosphere. We tried the cod, octopus rice, octopus salad and cataplana. We also had cocktails, which were delicious. The host is incredibly nice and accommodating too, he found us a table with our baby on our last night in Lisbon and repeatedly checked in with us. All the servers were amazing too. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough!

Great food and great service. Everything we ordered was delicious and flavourful. Personal favourites were the Cataplana and Octopus. Food was served decently quickly. Seating was decent, spacious enough for what it is. The night we sat was a bit cold and the restaurant offered us a blanket to keep warm (very nice of them!) Highly recommend you make a reservation, if not come before opening hours for dinner. Came at around 6:20PM (10 minutes before opening) and was able to get a spot but only outdoors as a group of 4.

❌Disappointing and Discriminatory Experience❌ 흔해빠쥔 읺줭촤별 쉭 댱임……._^^_ I rarely write negative reviews, but this place truly deserves it. When we arrived, we asked for a window seat. The staff told us those were “reserved.” Later, we found out there were no reservations at all — they simply gave those seats to every white customer who walked in after us. That moment said everything about this place. My friend immediately said, “This feels like a racist restaurant,” and she was right. The way they treated us as Asian customers was humiliating. Watching every white guest being seated in the best spots while we were pushed aside was beyond disappointing. The food wasn’t cheap either, yet the attitude and service were the worst I’ve experienced in a long time. Do you realize how many of your customers are Asian? Do you really think treating them differently will make your restaurant better? You’re making money off the very people you look down on. Shameful and ignorant.

Good service and a pleasant restaurant overall. Reservation is required. We ordered clams as a starter, followed by seafood rice and octopus as main courses. The dishes were generally good; however, the seafood rice was disappointing as the shrimp had not been properly cleaned, leaving a gritty, sandy texture that spoiled the experience. Understandably, the place was quite busy and clearly caters to tourists.

Great location, very very tasteful food; literally finger-licking food. Also, the staff is very kind & welcoming, especially the beautiful Isabella :). The 'worst' cake on the menu, was the cherry on top! SO YUMMM! Would deffinitely go back to this place.

Casa Portuguesa do Pastel de Bacalhau, also known as the 'House of Cod,' is a renowned seafood restaurant that pays homage to the beloved cod, often referred to as the 'faithful friend' in Portuguese cuisine. The menu features a variety of inventive dishes showcasing this versatile fish, such as cod cataplana with cream and shrimps and the creative cod 'Holy Friday,' which combines Italian pasta with pepperoni and a fresh salad.
Just tried the Pastel de Bacalhau with Serra de Estrela cheese and it was absolutely amazing! 😍 The combination of flavors was so rich and savory, it left me wanting more. Seriously, if you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out big time. This cheese is seriously the best I've ever had. If you love good food, you need to give this a shot. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

It is said to be the best place to get the Pastel de Bacalhau BUT be very careful when you order the "combo". The Pastel might be affordable but the Port with "free glass" is expensive. We paid 30.50 with 2 pastel and a glass of port. Might not be really worth the combo. Though, maybe a must try for the pastel.

a fish cake... What The fish cake without the melted cheese. I guess this is a super touristy place.. It was a must have so I had to have it. But when I pair this with the cost of this.. i am not sure what is so great of it. I guess I have falling into this tourist trap purchase. Overall it was okay, nothing super special. It wasn't as fishy as I somehow thought it would be. Environment Located on the main street, it is not hard to miss. There is no seating inside but there is seating outside. They serve this either for a for here or to go. Niceness of the staff Didn't have much of an interaction with the staff. I mean there was really only 1 or 2 products they are selling. So it was like a order and get. Dollar IT WAS EXPENSIVE. 6EU for one! I didn't think it was worth it for the price, but it was a good experience. Yes/No Probably not...
Wendy C — Google review
Is this franchise stunning? Yes, absolutely . I’ve visited a couple during our trip but didn’t get the chance to try it out. The cod cake is good, overpriced but good. The tiny sheep with cheese (Cheesy Sheep) that I was craving is just not worth it. It’s a tourist trap. I am not mad, it’s a beautiful place but it is an experience that can be skipped.
Alexandra S — Google review
The pastels are good but a bit pricey for what they are. 6€ for one. The service and welcome could be improved. Quite aggressive, pushing you to order more, impatient. May be worth it if you want the souvenir with the dated glass.
Mich _ — Google review
The cashier didn't want to show the menu. Didn't say the prices before hand. He recommended wine and bacalao. The bacalao is tasty, especially with the cheese. Never ever take the wine. It's disgustingly sweet and supper expensive. A small glass can be from 13 eu to 18 eu. The bacalao with cheese is 6 euro. NEVER take the wine, try the bacalao. Edit: i decided to remove stars cause i saw the menu, they actually offer soft drinks and coffee too. And there is cheaper wine for 7.5 euro.
Kaos T — Google review
Mouth-watering Pastel (both the cheesy one and the one without cheese). To go with that- the wine is absolutely amazing (we tried the white one) on top of that- nice and cozily decorated this century old joint with its gorgeous chandelier will offer you an amazing ambience to seat in.
Debdeep G — Google review
Tried the famous pastel de bacalhau here — very filling and tasty, especially with the cheese inside. However, I found it a bit overpriced, and unfortunately there was a small fish bone in mine. Nice experience, but be careful while eating.

Tapas restaurant
Meson Andaluz is a snug, old-world restaurant with outdoor seating that offers authentic Andalusian fare, including tapas and paella. The charmingly authentic tapas bar is housed in the original architecture of what was once the cellar of a merchant's town house, creating a beautiful and romantic atmosphere, especially at night.
This place is magnificent. It is such a beautiful hidden gem. Fernando recommended all of our dishes and guided us through the menu. I have to say, every dish we received was better than the one before. That atmosphere is such a cute little place with a chill and relaxing vibe. I can’t tell you what to have because this is one of those places that EVERYTHING was so outstanding.

Excellent food. Highly recommend this little spot. You get perched on a cobblestone staircase with barrels for tables and almost feel like you may tumble down but it’s pretty secure. it’s such a cute atmosphere. I had the lamb. Was delicious. We wanted to go back but didn’t find time.

Come here! Amazing vibes, great staff and excellent food. Make sure to request either a spicy margarita or red wine sangria. Perfect for an afternoon/evening catch up!
Deeno — Google review
Truly perfect foodie-approved experience at Meson Andaluz. The tapas were excellent and all paired very well together and the price was very fair - an excellent meal for an excellent value. The ingredients were very fresh and the chef is very talented, because all of the items were perfectly balanced with subtle flavor details with a lot of depth. The wait staff was very warm and welcoming, we felt immediately comfortable. The interior design of the restaurant is romantic with attention to detail yet not stuffy or overly formal. I would categorize the vibe as nice casual. We saw a mix of couples, groups of friends, and families at 7pm, with families with children giving way to mostly friends and couples by around 8:30pm, so if you are looking for a romantic dinner I would suggest arriving around 8:30pm or 9:00pm. However, everyone was warmly welcomed and this restaurant can accommodate families even in the evening. Volume level was relatively quiet until 9:30pm then became lively. No need to get dress up, as dressed in a polo and chinos in October I felt significantly more dressed up than the average. We ordered: - Couvert (bread with truffle butter) - Sopa Abobora (pumpkin soup) - Pulpo La Féria (octopus) - Bolista de Queijo (goat cheese dish with walnuts and honey wrapped in filo) - Tortilha Espanhola (a tortilla, similar to a quiche) - Ovos Rotos (potato dish with egg and Iberian ham) - Virgin mojito - Hurricane - Leite Crème (like a crème brûlée) - Latte - Double espresso Our top 3 favorites were: - Ovos Rotos (Amazing! - the Iberian ham is perfectly balanced with the fresh eggs) - Pulpo La Féria (very well cooked, fresh, and great flavor) - Sopa Abobora (great balance, earthy flavors) Highly recommend! A must try! Note: The chef split the soup for us so the photos reflect one half of the normal size per bowl.

Silvester was an outstanding waiter! From the moment we sat down, he was attentive, friendly, and made us feel truly welcome. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, checked in at just the right moments, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. His warm personality and professionalism turned a great dinner into an unforgettable experience. Thank you, Silvester, for going above and beyond!

Food was amazing. The pork was so soft and delicious. This was our favourite place we had dinner at during our stay in Lisbon. Definitely worth going. We were lucky we got a table without booking ahead, but would recommend to book in advance. We will come back next time we're in Lisbon.

What a fabulous place. In a spot that could easily be a tourist place it was a stunning walk upon find to spend time in this beautiful restaurant. It’s not particularly cheap but you’re paying for excellent food, clearly made with love and a top quality wine list in a great little area. I hope to be back.

Absolutely! Here’s a warm and detailed review you can use for Mesón Andaluz in Lisbon: ⸻ Review: Mesón Andaluz – A Delicious Surprise in Lisbon We popped into Mesón Andaluz quite impromptu on a very hot afternoon while walking up the hill in search of something a little different for lunch. Spotting this Andalusian restaurant felt like the perfect choice – and it absolutely was. Though the restaurant was fairly busy, we only had a short wait before being seated by the window, where we could enjoy a bit of breeze and a lovely view. From start to finish, the meal was absolutely fantastic. We began with the Spanish prawns in butter with bread simple, fresh, and full of flavour. We also had some perfectly cooked scallops, and for mains, we shared a mushroom risotto with asparagus and a pork and bean stew. Every single dish was top class beautifully presented, full of rich, balanced flavours, and clearly made with care. Honestly, I couldn’t fault a single bite. Service was generally good, though one young waiter (black shirt, moustache) did come across as a bit grumpy. That said, the older lady waitress more than made up for it she was absolutely fantastic, managing everything with warmth, efficiency, and a smile. A big shout-out to her well done! All in all, this was a wonderful, high-quality lunch in a cozy spot with character. Highly recommended especially if you’re in the area and looking for something just a little different and delicious

Restaurant
Restaurante Ponto Final is a cozy and charming restaurant located in Cacilhas, Portugal, offering traditional Portuguese dishes and a selection of wines. Its rustic waterfront patio provides stunning views of Lisbon and the 25 de Abril bridge, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Featured in the Netflix series Money Heist, this restaurant has gained fame for its picturesque location.
One of the most beautiful views and incredible dining experiences! Definitely make a reservation if you can. We made one for 7pm and were able to watch the sunset, they were very generous with the table dining time, we did not feel rushed. Get there early because you get to pick your own table once the staff confirms your reservation. There are two separate lines, one for walk ins and one for reservations. The food is delicious & fresh. Prices are reasonable considering the restaurant. I thought the prices would be steeper, pleasantly surprised! The staff was very attentive. 10/10!!

We couldn't make a dinner reservation for several months in advance so we settled for 12:30 lunch time on Wednesday. Weather was perfect and we got a best table by the water. Amazing view of the bridge. Spicy shrimp was not spicy but extremely delicious. 10 large ones! Baked fish was amazing as well. Service was good and friendly. I can't even imagine how beautiful it is during sunset dinner.

Absolutely stunning spot and atmosphere, we booked via email the day before and they luckily had space, we had octopus and cod fritters for entree the octopus was so tender, I was not a big fan of the texture of the cod fritters but the flavour was nice. We ordered the ribs and veal cheeks for mains they were huge portions the veal was delicious very tender slow cooked yummy gravy, the ribs were also very tender and very delicate flavours my husband loved it. We were unable to finish our meals we could have shared one between us. Would recommend. Useful info there are a lot of stairs to get down but there is an elevator for anyone who has issues with stairs ( I added a photo of elevator)
Candyalu — Google review
This was really an iconic experience. We made reservations months ahead of our trip. It is expensive but worth it in my opinion. We got the shrimps and it was the freshest and most flavourful dish ever. The monkfish stew was ok but the portion sizes are huge. It says it’s for 2 people but it’s at least for 4. The server won’t tell you that. They were able to make me a virgin mojito and charge around €3 for it which I thought was good. I would highly recommend the shrimps. If you plan on doing for sunset dinner then definitely dress warm and take blankets. Best way to get there is uber to the location and the uber drops off near an elevator and you take it down and it’s a short walk on your right.

I’ve been meaning to visit Ponto Final ever since I saw it on Somebody Feed Phil. For reservations, I had to email at least month before and we went for lunch at 12:30, which is when the restaurant opens. You just wait your turn and they’ll come seat you. The view is beautiful and food is so fresh. It was the perfect meal. We had the grilled sea bream, bread, salad and the chicken giblets with blood rice. The sea bream was the highlight for me and the sauce it came with! The serving size for the chicken giblets with blood rice was very generous and it was very scrumptious. It reminded me of a Filipino pork blood dish called ‘dinuguan’ which I also love.

We caught the catamaran between lisbon to the Ginjal. Nice and fast ride in between. We have a great experience at Ponto Final. It’s difficult to get a reservation but the get a walking as well. We wait around 45 minutes to be seated. Mean while when we to the Elevator Panoramic Boca de Vento to enjoy the views from there (stunning scenes). Server did a great job. We started we some fresh Oysters, Pork salad, octopus whole shrimp and small fry fish. For entry we ordered grilled dorados. Fresh seafood was just amazing. Waiting time paid off.

Had reservations for lunch but arrived late because of the long wait in Cristo de Rei so we had to wait for about an hour… worth it! The shrimp dish is ❤️! Nothing like it. We ordered a few more dishes that sadly arrived after we billed out (so we refused it as we were done already) but nonetheless it was a perfect. Octopus salad is good too. I enjoyed the mojito.

I had an unforgettable experience at this seafood restaurant! The view alone is absolutely stunning — overlooking the ocean, especially at sunset, it creates the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing and memorable meal. The seafood was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. Every dish had a balance of flavor that really showcased the quality of the ingredients — from the grilled fish to the shrimp and calamari, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. The staff made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. If you’re visiting Lisbon (or anywhere nearby), this is definitely a must-try spot. Great food, breathtaking views, and a cozy, elegant setting — a true gem by the sea. 🌊🐟✨ But it took more time than expected but it was worth waiting

Taberna Sal Grosso, a contemporary tavern near Santa Apolonia train station, offers inventive Portuguese petiscos that put a unique twist on traditional recipes. The menu features dishes like stewed pork cheeks with apple and celery puree and chicken with suckling pig sauce, showcasing the fusion of familiar flavors with unexpected ingredients.
Advisable to book 2-3 days in advance, because this quaint space have very limited seats with too amazing food. We're so lucky to still secure a spot being second on the waitlist at 8pm, on our final night in Lisbon. FOH is super charming and hospitable. They make the BEST sangria ever and yet the highlight of the dinner is us overspending close to £50 to order extra dishes - still didn’t make it to finish their entire menu as we wished.

Came here for lunch with a reservation. Small establishment so I would highly recommend making a reservation. Food was very good and came in generous portions. We didn’t expect to enjoy the tomato salad as much as we did. Succulent sweet tomatoes balanced perfectly w the salty ham and cheese and the subtle sweetness of the figs. The garlic prawns were very fresh and very tasty. The sauce was a little too salty though. The octopus was also very well cooked, very fresh, again, a bit too salty. The sweet potato mash was delicious too. Great meal overall, would have been perfect if it was less salty.

This tends to be one of the most recommended restaurants in Lisbon and for good reason. It’s pretty small and you should get a reservation, but I’ve been able to walk in 2 years in a row and get seated (they open at 7 and second seating at 9 so I’d try going around 8 for a small party walk in). It’s cute inside, service is great, food is modern Portuguese. It’s fresh and delicious and definitely worth a visit

This is a fantastic restaurant with mouthwatering dishes! We tried the roasted cheese with honey (literally was amazing) and bread, beef cheeks (super tender and fell apart as soon as you put your fork in it), octopus with sweet potatoes (our absolute favorite!!) and tomato salad with ham and figs! It was all so delicious and the presentation was excellent. You MUST make a reservation in advance here and don’t hesitate to come during a weird hour like 3:30pm, which is when it’s a little more empty because they only allow so many reservations before they close the restaurant for dinner hours.

Pls make a reservation- it seems like it’s always fully booked. Cute little place with best Sangria! Fried baby squid was good n savory. Fries decent- saffron rice was tangy- and pork cheeks with tomato migas was not my cup of tea… very tender tho- wanna try other dishes next time if I get a chance.
Angie S — Google review
The taste of the food is amazing. I went there on my own and ordered in total 3 main dishes and 1 starter. That speaks volumes. However is difficult to get a reservation because it’s a tiny restaurant so it’s better to reserve at least days ahead. Without a reservation you will most likely b rejected at the door.

Food was well done and flavourful , small dishes but filling . My favourite was the octopus with sweet potato. Staff were polite but aloof. Room was cozy and comfortable. Recommended to make reservations ahead of time

This was our second time dining at Taberna Sal Grosso, and honestly, we loved every single dish! Just a heads up—there are limited seats, so I’d definitely recommend booking online in advance. We actually had to come for lunch instead because the dinner slots were all full. The octopus and beef cheek are always the most memorable dishes for us; along with bottles of sangria! The staff were super friendly, and overall, it’s one of the best restaurants we visited during our trip to Portugal.

O Arco, a family-run restaurant in Lisbon's Baixa district, has been serving up delicious and hearty portions of fish, meat, and cheese since 1983. While the decor may not be elaborate, the food is top-notch and reasonably priced. The cozy interior is adorned with a collection of blues and rock n roll memorabilia. Visitors rave about the seafood rice dish, which is flavorful with a hint of tomato and served in generous portions.
I had a lovely experience here. The girl who served me was so warm and welcoming, I ordered the octopus and seafood rice, both were fresh and beautifully cooked. I was genuinely impressed and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal and friendly atmosphere.

DO NOT GO HERE! I would give it negative stars if I could. Food is awful and so is the service. The cod and seafood Catalplana was awful and not flavorful. The shrimp curry was also not flavorful. The meal were approx 20-22 euros each. Overpriced and not good food. We were recommended this restaurant and the service was also subpar. By far the worst meal we’ve had in Portugal.

Cozy and delicious eatery with wall decorations of banknotes from counties all around the world. The food was great. We had sea-bus with potatoes and mushrooms, octopus with potatoes, and lobster with rice. Everything was soft, juicy and tender. Highly recommend this place for casual lunch or dinner.

Delicious, relaxing and friendly. We had the octopus, seafood rice and cataplana. Perfectly cooked seafood, the cataplana stew was perfect. If you are in Lisbon, would go here first to get off to an excellent start without the hustle-bustle of the typical touristy places. It’s on my list of best seafood spots, thank you chef!

The seafood restaurant Mar ao Carmo serves fresh, wild-caught seafood from Portuguese waters. The interior is small and rustic, with a tank of live lobsters and crabs next to a display of the day's catch. You can choose your food from the counter or grill it yourself at your table. The servings are generous, and the prices reasonable.
Ended up here as we got lost in another country!!! It was one of the best adventurous ends... If you don't know, Portugal is extremely hilly! Coming back from shopping, my wife and I got so lost and ended up walking up and down many hills. I decided we would stop, find something to eat, and ask for directions. We ended up at Mar ao Camo. Oh, Boy... were we happy! I will say that this was one of the best meals we had during our time in Lisbon. We both had salmon, potatoes, and roasted veggies. The salmon was fresh and cooked to perfection! The entire dish was well seasoned and just good! The atmosphere was cozy, and the service above par. I definitely recommend the little gem.

Open late and very patient with tourists, but the price was very high for the poorly presented/seasoned food. My shrimp salad was drenched in a super sweet dressing while the octopus came with a single tentacle and overcooked/mushy spinach. Service and atmosphere were great and our drinks were fantastic. Mixed bag really.

It was a beautiful day on a Wednesday at noon, the restaurant outdoor seating just opened. The server was very attentive and showing me the lunch special. The location is very tourist but the 15 euro lunch special is solid. It included bread, main course, drink and coffee. I have order shrimp pasta and it was tasty. You will not be disappointed coming here for lunch!

The carpaccio was delicious. The seafood rice however was very average. The flavour was just okay and extremely peppery. The seafood was also overcooked with lots of empty shells. They should also provide an extra bowl for all the shells as our dinner plates were filled with shells making it difficult to eat.

Octopus carpaccio was good, nothing spectacular - the salad on top of the octopus is a random addition. It should be put to the side. The fish soup however was foul and leaves a foul tasting grease to your mouth. The service was okay and the atmosphere outside was good. This restaurant is too expensive for what it is. I paid 33 euro for octopus carpaccio, fish soup and their most basic vinho verde.

Best freshest seafood in Lisbon. Been to Lisbon several times, this place takes the prize. Highly recommended by my German conductor friend. The crab roe rice is unlike anything I’ve had. Female stone crab mixed with onion, miniature rice. With shrimp, clam, mussel, soaked in a fresh thyme garlic butter. Octopus marinated in olive oil was also rather great. Enough to break my carb free diet got 10 days. Tomatoes based seafood soup was also complex and delish.

A Provinciana is a charming, family-owned restaurant in the heart of Lisbon that exudes rustic charm and authentic Portuguese hospitality. Despite its central location, it feels like a countryside gem with its unpretentious ambiance and quirky decor featuring an array of unique wall clocks. Locals flock here for the hearty and wholesome cuisine, while savvy visitors are drawn in by the tantalizing aromas and reputation for delicious fare.
This is a local hidden gem tucked away in a alleyway near Rossio station. This is a family run restaurant and it is very busy and usually there is a queue already before they open so I recommend to arrive early like 10 minutes before they open. The menu is simple and in comparison very cheap all dishes as of March 2025 are under 10€ and 0,75 Liter of house wine is only 4.95€. This place is frequented by mainly locals which is a sign that the food here is very good. I am amazed how busy the restaurant is and only one lady is in the kitchen prepping and cooking. I have tried numerous dishes and all were very good and big portion sizes. You must also try their homemade desserts like the Flam. If you visit Lisbon and you want to find an authentic affordable local restaurant then you must visit A Provinciana. Only downside is they accept cash only.

This is a hidden gem behind the tourist hotspot with simple menu run by a family. Very affordable and delicious ! Mum is the chef whilst Dad is usually behind the bar and the daughter is serving. Dad is collecting and displaying different clocks at the restaurant. I went for 2 consecutive nights as they only serve octopus on Thurs, no regret ! Don't forget to try their home-made dessert too !

The service is so warm and friendly! Very unlike other local restaurants!! Their price remains the old time too! Nowadays really difficult to find such friendly price, not to mention they are located in such a touristy location The food is very typical Portuguese style, simple and fresh. Their house wine is from a huge oak! Looks very special

This place is truly a hidden gem loved by the locals. The restaurant was filled with local diners, which is always a good sign. The bacalhau (salted cod) and cuttlefish were absolutely delicious and tasted very authentic. The grilled sardines were cooked just right — perfectly charred on the outside and tender on the inside. A must-visit if you want an authentic local dining experience!

Are you looking for an authentic Portuguese cooked at a family restaurant? Definitely give this place a try. The prices are very cheap and the portions are generous. The seating area is tight, so you will be squeezing between other diners. If you can get past this small condition, you will love it. Everyone was friendly and enjoying their food. The service was friendly and quick. We ordered grilled cod fish with potato and veggies and the goat stew daily special. The cod fish meat was tender and delicate. Very delicious and melts in your mouth. Goat stew was like a home cooked meal. You can taste the love and authentic flavors. We also ordered the dry cured ham, which went perfectly with the fresh bread they served. The coffee was ok but nothing to write home about. The red wine was great, and we finished the half bottle with ease. We will definitely come back and try some other dishes as we love to support the small local restaurant owners. Great food with unbeatable prices.

A local has shown me this restaurant and I’m so happy he did. A better and more authentic meal than most other meals I had in Lisbon, as we were leaving we noticed a line out the door, whom looked mostly like others locals. Also can’t beat these prices in the tourists square!
Dawn S — Google review
Went there on a recommendation from others from a tour group that went there the day before, and our group of 4 were seated as soon as they opened the doors at 7pm for dinner. In total there were 12 of us that got there 15 minutes prior to opening. The food was more like a home cooked meal, than some upscaled higher priced restaurant. We got the cuttlefish, sardines, salmon and salted cod plates, some good bread & cheese and a bottle of house wine, a few deserts and cappuccinoes. All of us were happy with the food, etc. Just one lady seats people, takes the orders, and provides service to the entire place, so you need patience to be happy with the entire experience. The place was packed with hungry patron, and dozens waiting outside to get their turn. We would definitely go back when we come back to Lisbon.

Cervejaria Liberdade is an upscale seafood restaurant located within the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade hotel in Lisbon. The dining experience at this restaurant is known for its flawless service and beautiful food, albeit at a hefty price. The chef's passion for seafood is evident in the variety of crustaceans and shellfish dishes, which are simply prepared to highlight their true flavors. The setting exudes Art Deco elegance, with attentive service and seafood served without fussiness.
I dream of the steak tartare.... The food is Extraordinary here! Melt in your mouth beef... They have a sommelier on site who comes to you to make sure you have a great paring and the Port that she suggested was top notch! Service is beyond your wildest dreams!!!! We seem to hit this place multiple times every visit into Lisbon!!!!

This restaurant at the Tivoli Hotel is truly outstanding and highly recommended. Everything about it : the food, the service, the location, and the elegant, refined atmosphere is exceptional. The waiter was very friendly and professional, making the experience even more enjoyable. I absolutely loved both the food and the service. A perfect dining experience from start to finish!

A wonderful restaurant with delicious food, great service and a recently completed beautiful refresh of the dining room. The creamy sheep’s milk cheese is always delicious starter. Of course you can’t go wrong with any fish entree - every one we have tried has been amazing. And don’t skip dessert! This time we tried the 70% chocolate mousse and it was heavenly. Whether you are staying at Hotel Tivoli or not, add this to your list of restaurants to try in Lisbon!

One of the best beef steaks I’ve ever had. If you come here, order the Cervejaria-style beef tenderloin — it’s stellar! The grilled cod was also good, as was the sheep cheese starter — very rich and creamy.

This is an elegant graceful restaurant resides in Tivoli Avenida Lisboa hotel (we stayed here too) There is a big lively lobster tank and selection fresh fish and shrimp on display as you walking into the gorgeous dining room full of Tiffany style lightings. The Portuguese gambas and Pica Pau beef were absolutely flavorful and tasteful. Their service was warm and attentive.

A timeless Lisbon gem inside Hotel Tivoli — part brasserie, part hidden palace. Velvet booths, soft light, and that iconic zodiac tapestry set the mood. Highlights? Silky presunto, grilled prawns, rich seafood rice, and tableside steak tartare. Don’t skip the chocolate mousse. Elegant, nostalgic, and effortlessly classic.

We have visited this restaurant several times, usually for the business lunch, which offers good value. This time, we decided to come for a Sunday lunch, and the service was extremely slow. We ordered a few starters: veal croquettes, shrimp rissoles, tempura fried bean, and steak tartar. They were good, although the tartar, which is usually served with special toasted bread, was missing that today. For main dishes, we had pork, seafood bread stew, and lamb chops, but they were all very uninspiring. The gold chocolate and caramel mille-feuille was good. Overall, the prices were very high for what we received.

Nestled in the underground charm of Saldanha, O Funil 1971 Restaurante Cozinha Tradicional Portuguesa offers a delightful escape into authentic Portuguese cuisine. With its classic decor and inviting atmosphere, this gem is perfect for locals and visitors alike. Diners rave about the freshness and seasoning of their dishes, from flavorful grilled salmon to succulent rabbit served with onions that create a harmonious blend. The octopus rice is another highlight, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality at reasonable prices.
A really nice, locals-only feeling Portuguese restaurant. The food was incredibly fresh and well seasoned. The staff were attentive and kind as we practiced our Portuguese. We had the grilled salmon (wow! Flavorful and tender), the rabbit (unexpected and succulent, yes, those are onions but it all works), apple tart, and coffees. We will be back to share this gem with friends and family. Thank you!

On the surface, this restaurant looks like a great place to try some traditional Portuguese food in a modern and slightly more upmarket environment than your average traditional restaurant. However, the food for me was a bit of a letdown. The dish I ordered was overcooked and over salted. I was expecting a tender juicy piece of meat but ended up with with something a little hard and dry. Two of the four pieces also had so much salt I needed to wash it down with a drink. The restaurant gets kind of busy but notably no customers appeared to be Portuguese. So if you're after good Portuguese food you're better off looking elsewhere.

Good location. Food was ok in terms of portion size compared to the price. Only thing I can mention is that the waitress even though was very nice, as it interacts with the customers should know a bit more portuguese. I had to interact in english in order to be able to pass the message. Leite creme, had a good sugar crust was under it was to liquid..... not sure if it was that batch..... In geral all very friendly

Amazing service and great food - cant fault this place, great ambiance and wine too, all for a reasonable price 🤩 We had prawns and fishcakes to start, then a whole seabream with veg to share between two. Dessert was almond pie 🙌🏽

The best meal I have had in days (granted before I was in Spain). Still this place is an amazing find! Our server was unbeatable, he gave us wine suggestions and also told us places to see while we are here visiting :)) Def give it a try, literally have no cons to post. Go and enjoy 😊

Seafood restaurant
Senhor Peixe seafood restaurant, Lda is a renowned seafood restaurant with two locations in Portugal. The original restaurant is situated in Setubal, a city known for its fishing heritage and fresh seafood. The second location can be found in Parque das Nacoes, attracting locals and tourists alike. The restaurant offers an array of fresh fish and seafood dishes, earning it a reputation as one of the best seafood restaurants in Lisbon.
This is a wow place! In front of the water open seating, you can choose your favorite seafood and they will prepare it for you the way you want it. It was my first time and I came here right before going to the airport to flight back home. This will be my spot for seafood in Lisbon. Is a little pricey but worth it.
Maribel R — Google review
The seafood rice, lobster and crab were decent in taste, and when we entered the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, who helped us choose and order our food. Unfortunately, the service from the waitstaff was absolutely terrible. Our server ignored us most of the time and even dropped off a bunch of appetizers we never ordered — and that we later learned were chargeable — luckily, we didn’t eat them. When it came time to pay, I was left waiting for a very long time while the waiter continued to ignore me. In the end, I had to find the owner, who kindly asked another waiter to handle our bill. While the food was okay and the owner was genuinely friendly, the awful service from the staff ruined the experience for me. The one star I gave for service is purely out of respect for the owner. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Cabrinha, originally a warehouse for wine barrels in the 70s, has transformed into a renowned seafood restaurant. Located in Cacilhas, it offers around twenty different types of fresh seafood prepared in traditional Portuguese ways. Visitors praise the cheerful and knowledgeable staff who provide excellent recommendations. The menu includes delicious options such as monkfish rice and cuttlefish, with sides like green beans and carrots in olive oil.
A must if you like seafood! The food was excellent! Highly recommend

A Cabrinha is a true local gem — they’ve been serving amazing seafood for over 40 years, and it shows in the quality and consistency. The seafood rice (arroz de marisco) is absolutely delicious, full of fresh flavors and generous portions. They offer a wide variety of daily seafood options — everything from clams and prawns to monkfish and cuttlefish. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is lively but relaxed. It’s a great spot for a long lunch with family or friends. Just a heads-up: it gets busy, especially on weekends, so arriving early or booking ahead is a good idea. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Portuguese seafood in Almada!

I have visited this restaurant many times before, and this time was just another confirmation that they are a real gem of Portuguese food. Everything was fresh: seafood, desserts, and the selection of wines was simply perfect. This is definitely a must-stop while being in Lisbon to try real food; it makes sense to take a boat and cross the river.

I have been going here with family for years and years. Out of all the surrounding restaurants, this has the best interior (spacious with a high ceiling) and the waiters are always friendly and cordial. The food is more or less the same as the other restaurants arround, but comfort-wise, Cabrinha wins! :)

Had dinner here with a family of 7. Service was welcoming and the food was great. Very old school family restaurant with cavernous interior. Really enjoyed it. If you're a tourist and haven't already, try the barnacles.
Gene S — Google review
I think this restaurant deserves no more than 3 stars because of the lack for due diligence and how they serve the food. If you are just a seafood eater with no preference or style in how your food is cooked and served as long as it just from the sea, go for this one. Otherwise if you want to eat seafood in somewhat classy style because you are a tourist and want it to be a special meal, go for another place.
Berat E — Google review
If you are looking for a real fish restaurant you should visit this place. Crew is cheerful, care and also good advisor to make a decision. We ordered monk fish rice and it was delicious if you are spicy person you should ask for pepper sauce they have. In the starters you should try the goat cheese. And after the fish if you are willing to honor your palate order farofias. Bon appetite!
Ali D — Google review
Absolutely dreadful. Definitely one of the worst meals I've ever had in my life, and I've eaten at a Port Authority McDonalds. As I was eating it, I legitimately couldn't tell if I enjoyed seafood or if it was the restaurant. It existentially affected me. If you look on my profile, you'll see that I've given high praise to many restaurants, and generally I would consider myself a relatively generous customer. Making delicious food at scale is a difficult task and I recognize this, but this is legitimately the first time I've had a bad meal in this country, and I've been here for a week. The food was overly salty. The soup should've given it away, but once my partner and I received our seafood platter for two, once it rested on our table, we were faced with a decision. Do we continue to eat and keep up appearances? Or do we spare our stomachs and, like a third date that bombed horribly, tell them the cold hard truth? I went with the latter. The waiter was offended. I was upset I was out 84 euros. So on top of the fact it will most likely lead to an extensive toilet session, it was ALSO one of the most expensive meals I've had here. So let me be more specific: the seafood was boiled to sh**, the entrails of the seafood remained intact, the shells were stuck to the shrimp and prawns, most of the clam shells were empty, and it was lathered in this horrific oil sauce thing(?) right out of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The only joy I can gather from this experience is writing this review and MAYBE having a definitive answer to: what was the worst restaurant you've ever eaten at? It's great to finally have a semblance of certainty in this world.

A family-run neighborhood gem — a hidden treasure. The food was truly excellent, and the people were kind and welcoming. I was staying at a nearby hotel and ended up visiting twice. The lady beside us helped and recomended some black pepper to augment the house special cuttlefish. Which is highly recomended. We had the small white fish with tomato rice as well . The house white wine is very nice as well and enhances the seafood. A great vibe and lovely food excellent and helpful staff. 6 stars if i could. But beyond that highly recomended

This little restaurant was recommended by our tour guide, Pedro. I’m so glad he suggested it. We went for lunch and it was crowded with local folks. The menu was in Portuguese, but our server brought another menu that explained each item in several languages. I chose grilled grouper and my husband chose the cuttlefish special. The grouper was just about the best fish I have ever had, and my husband really liked the cuttlefish too. You may have to wait at this restaurant, but it will be worth it.

The Bifanas of Afonso is a must-try when it comes to Portuguese cuisine. This popular pork fillet sandwich is known for its simple yet delicious taste, with the standout feature being the sauce in which the meat is marinated and sautéed. The restaurant, located just a short walk from Prado restaurant, serves some of the best pork sandwiches in town and is a favorite spot for those seeking authentic Portuguese snacks.
While researching I came across this place and it certainly did not disappoint. We weren’t extremely hungry so we just ordered one Bifana and one chocolate mousse. Around 5 pm was when we went and there was a very small line. I’d recommend going in between meal times to take advantage of the shorter wait times. It completely lived up to my expectations, and I would definitely return. The bifana itself had perfect chewy bread and with the meat it was heaven. The chocolate mousse was also delicious, and it was super light but not too sweet. I would definitely return!

Following the review from some of the YouTubers and we gave it a tried. For $3, I can say this can be one of the best, reasonable price for lunch. Nothing special about the pork meat but the bun and the sauce was 🤤 delicious. This is a place you should visit if you don't want to spend too much for lunch and have more time to explore the area around. Thank you
Eric D — Google review
Great meal or snack mid day. They were super fast, kind with tourists and we enjoyed that we were able to have a good Portuguese food on the go. Took 10 minutes from entering the line to getting our bifanas (the line had about 15 people in it), as there’s a small courtyard you can sit in, although it can be busy
Jenelle — Google review
Cash only place The bifanas here are very tasty! They're more flavorful and you can really taste the wine and spices. The pork is less tender than other places but it's still very good. The bread can be a bit too floury. There can be a huge line-up so if you see a short line-up, goooo. The Patanisca de Bacalhau (fish fillet sandwich) is a cold fish fillet sandwich which is a bit odd, but the fish is tasty. I wouldn't say get that unless you really wanted to try it. This place also has Super Bock on tap! You can get a big or small size, and the small size is perfect for me for a lunch drink. Be sure to give this place a try if you're getting bifanas!
HTS L — Google review
Small takeout place for a Portuguese specialty, the Bifansa (stewed pork sandwich). Only 3 euros for the regular sandwich or 5 with cheese. Great portion size and definitely fantastic value at this price point. Highly recommend for a quick bite to eat. You can also add some chili oil and mustard. The bun was nice and soft too. Would definitely get it again!

Long queue, goes quite quick though, €3 for a basic bufana that is quite filling and hot too. Ordered and served in about 2/3 minutes which was great. Definitely recommend adding on the mustard on the side, just takes it to another level, pork is tender and pairs well with the bread. Would gladly come back again and again.

Located in the typical neighborhood of Alcantara, O Palácio is a renowned seafood restaurant where you can indulge in a variety of fresh and delicious sea treasures. Since 1980, this establishment has been dedicated to preparing traditional Portuguese menus with the utmost care and quality. The restaurant's old-style atmosphere adds to its charm, and the fast service ensures that only the freshest and highest-quality seafood is served.
We visited O’Palacio about six years ago and came back this year just for their crab — it was absolutely magical back then and still is! The place feels authentic and not overly touristy, even though it’s not located right in the city center. Totally worth the trip. The seafood is incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but the flavors are unforgettable — finger-licking good!

Really good seafood. Had the arroz marisco (we had the half portion which was huge, and was completely packed with crab, prawns and shellfish), the garlic prawns (soooo garlicky and delicious) and the stuffed spider crab (super good but very mild flavour). Overall good food and good service. €109 for everything pictured plus two beers and bread.
Ellen L — Google review
A wonderful seafood restaurant with a great selection of dishes. We dined here twice, and both the food and wine were delicious. However, during our first visit, we mentioned that we were budgeting around €70 for two. The waiter recommended a platter with crab and mussels, which was indeed very tasty. But while we were already eating, he casually mentioned that the total came out “a bit more expensive,” and in the end, we were charged €100. So, be careful when selecting seafood priced by weight. It felt like they were trying to charge tourists as much as possible. Also, make sure to clarify if you want just a glass of wine instead of a bottle. I asked for a glass, but they brought and uncorked a full bottle instead.

I ordered the monkfish and rice. It was pretty bland, and below the standard of food I had eaten over my entire trip, but that isn’t why I’m leaving 1 star. At the end of the meal, an older grey haired server asked me to provide a tip because it wasn’t included in my bill. Service was okay, and I told him I would provide the equivalent of an 18% tip. The expected for minimum service where I’m from. He proceeded to put in the equivalent of an 25% tip and then asked if I was American. I’m not sure why that makes a difference, but I’m from Canada. I’m honestly a bit disgusted by his behaviour. Every country has a range of people, some polite, some rude, some good, some bad. But his behaviour was so mismatched from everyone I encountered in Portugal, or even in this restaurant. The only reason I’m providing one star is because a different server ran after me when I forgot a bag with gifts for my family. This second server was quite sweet. I hope he finds a place of employment that matches his energy.
Tamar A — Google review
Just avoid this place. The waiter “Brito” is a scammer! He wouldn’t listen to us, bringing an entire bottle of wine instead of a glass, or stuffing us with expensive unsolicited crab, he wouldn’t let us order. At the end he brings up a +€300 bill and was bold enough to ask for a tip, that we didn’t agree of course. Besides this rip off, the food was very mid. Brito was disgusting as he took advantage of us.

soup - good. tomato salad - nice. cod - perfect. rice with shellfish - good, little bit salty. we got our food after a while, and got our desert for free, thanks :-) waiter was very very nice and gave really good service. for some reason, host added bread for 2.5€ just before printing the bill. luckily we noticed and got that removed. also the entrees (8€ worth) at the beginning are unnecessary.

Delicious food and friendly staff! A must go when you're in Lisboa and love to eat fish. We shared the carpaccio de polvo, marinated salmon with passion fruit, shrimps with garlic and marinated brass. You have to discover the salmon with passion fruit! Would definitely come back.

Wow. We had 3 different raw/marinated fish for appetizers. Our main dishes were grilled octopus and shrimp. One of the appetizers was tuna---it was completely tender/melt-in-the-mouth with a lively mango sauce. Even top restaurants (including sushi places) in large cities in the US rarely have tuna this good. I commented that it's nearly impossible to get shrimp better than what we had here. My SO pointed out that there was a 3-star (Michelin) in Spain that had better shrimp. That sums it up nicely. Octopus had a nice crust without being charred. The only dish that wasn't perfectly seasoned was a dish of vegetables. They kindly brought us a jar of salt to correct. Nice wine. Excellent service. This restaurant alone is a reason for a trip to Lisbon.

The freshness of the seafood can be easily tasted and enjoyed. The flavours of the food permeate the soul and leave unforgettable impressions. The staff is not only nice and polite, but anticipate every need and are extremely helpful. The deserts are perfectly balanced and exceptionally presented. The decorations remind us of tradition, but also of the current aesthetics.

Marisqueira Azul at Time Out Market in Lisbon offers a mixed experience with some of the country's top chefs serving signature dishes for affordable prices. While the central area may feel corporate, the outer peripheries boast proper restaurants focusing on serving fresh seafood. The restaurant is a great spot for satisfying seafood cravings, although it lacks shade along the street side.
When coming to Time Out market, this is the place for super seafood, no need to hunt in the food hall. So fresh, tasty, juicy and crunchy. and they have comfortable outdoor seating, as well as indoor bar seating. can watch them cooking through the glass. I had grilled Tiger prawns, so succulent that allures me to go again for brown crab.

Superb place and mostly locals who keep coming back for the food and the good looking owner-Francisco! Great guy! Has an eye on every table and interacts with all the guests! Fab fresh oysters which are sourced from a special farm that uses stainless steel to box them unlike iron boxes which leave a metallic smell! Garlic prawns! We stopped just for a drink but ended up eating a few snacks and having their lovely port wine as well! Kudos! Will be back

Time out Market is such a busy place and sometimes you need to wait for a while to get a table. However, I lucked out today because I was alone and only one seat was available. My goal was to get razor clams and it was a success. They were fresh, juicy l, and delicious. I loved how they give you a spoon to also enjoy the delicious & sweet clam broth. Just perfect for this rainy day. There isnt much space to even wait for the table so it can be annoying but still if the wait isnt too bad, i highly recommend the razor clams. Oh my neighbors ordered prawns and they also looked very very delicious.

The octopus and shrimp dishes were also quite good, especially when paired with white wine. Oyster tasted good, but I didn't feel well after eating. Please be careful. You can take your food to a seat inside the Timeout area or enjoy it at the exclusive bar or outdoor tables.

We had an absolutely overwhelming evening in this from the outside not very shiny restaurant. Thanks to the best service team of two guys from Brazil all of us were happy through the evening. I was looking for authentic Portuguese food and found this place down the street. They offered a menu in English for those who can’t yet speak the language (me). I ordered the Arroz de Marisco which is a rich seafood stew that's made up of fish and rice. It's a Portuguese favorite, and one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Gastronomy. Some people say it's like a Spanish paella, but it's very different due to the amount of sauce. I recommend getting some bread to soak up the delicious sauce and a white wine. I was a little nervous to order seafood because I am a bit touchy with fishy tasting food. This dish was outstanding! I would highly recommend trying it. While the cost was a bit higher than what I normally spend, it was worth it especially considering the friendly and stellar service.

Worst food experience in Lisbon ... Thought their fish and sea food is fresh, they put soooooo much coriander in everything that you can't even taste the real flavour. Otherwise the food is nice and fresh just if you don't like the taste of the coriander ask them to remove it from the dish. And also for the staff at the restaurant - ask people for the coriander please!

Adega das Gravatas is a hidden gem located in Benfica, away from the touristy areas of Lisbon. This century-old restaurant is known for its traditional Portuguese dishes, including fish and meat specialties. The unique decor features an abundance of colorful ties hanging from the walls and ceiling, creating a distinct ambiance. Originally a tavern transformed into a restaurant in 1940, it has retained its local charm over the years.
Walked in on a Friday night at 8:30pm and was shocked how packed it was with locals and how loud and lively it was. It was so quiet on the streets that it was so unexpected. Furthermore, we were super lucky they accommodated us without reservation. Food was very delicious and portions were very generous for the price point. Their service did not lack even though there was a language barrier - they didn't really speak English but it did not matter. I definitely recommend this restaurant! I can't wait to go back for more!
Gwen C — Google review
The food was awesome, the atmosphere, loud as all tables were full. (You have to make a reservation to get a table) I would definitely recommend it. The only downside for me was one of the staff (a lady) who refused me entry to use the restroom in the freezing cold because they hadn't opened to customers yet. This was 6.50pm (They open 7 pm) That already put me off, as I think that is horrible customer service for a customer who had a reservation. Asides that, the food was awesome.

A very authentic Portuguese restaurant with whole octopus being a popular dish! It's also hard to find yet very busy. The house wine is good. The service is good, but English is not a strength. The placemate has pictures to help.

We had an amazing meal at Adega das Gravatas. The octopus was incredibly tender—one of the best I’ve ever had. The meat was flavorful and perfectly cooked, while the dessert was massive with rich layers of buttercream. We ended with a delicious espresso, the perfect finish. The authentic atmosphere made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

The Acorda De Gambas (shrimp stew with rice) we ordered was very flavorful. The whole octopus was extremely tender and fresh. Inside the atmosphere was quite homey and it was great to see many locals also dining at the establishment. I will leave a review on English for future costumers who don’t understand Portuguese. Lovely restaurant, good staff in general. Food was really good and I’m a chef myself. I was a bit disappointed with the Sangria but it was still good and I’m sure it’s nothing and they can make a great one. I love doing drinks myself. The portions are really big, no way you’ll be hungry after a meal in this restaurant. Very busy as well so you need to book in advance and make sure you only arrive 5min late max. They are strict with that. Overall loved the experience so 5 stars deserved.

The food was excellent, fresh, and not overpowered by spices. The local wine was quite good. The seafood soup was incredible, a huge portion. Our service was excellent and so was the food! Although the servers were quite busy, they managed to be attentive to our party. I highly recommend the duck/rice and the Pica Pau! Go early....around 6:30, or you will have to wait in line for a table.

Amazing seafood and perfect Lisbon vibes! We had a fantastic lunch at Restaurante Pinóquio, right in the heart of Lisbon. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, and the terrace is great for people-watching. The clams à Bulhão Pato were absolutely delicious – fresh, garlicky and full of flavour. We also tried the seafood rice and grilled prawns, both cooked perfectly. Service was friendly and fast, even though the restaurant was busy. Prices are fair for the quality and location. Highly recommend booking or coming early, because it gets crowded fast! Definitely one of the best meals we had in Lisbon. 🌊🍋

We came across this restaurant while visiting Lisbon and decided to return the next night — and we’re so glad we did! It’s definitely popular, and getting a reservation is tough, but the queue is worth it. We waited about 30 minutes and were then seated at a lovely outdoor table, which was perfect for the warm summer evening. This was easily one of the best service experiences we had in Portugal. The staff were incredibly friendly and spoke multiple languages, which was both helpful and very professional. And the highlight? The paella — absolutely unforgettable. It was truly perfection on a plate. We’re still thinking about it! If you're in Lisbon and willing to wait a bit, Lautasco is well worth the visit.

Delicious traditional portuguese food and portions. The service was also good. We walked in without a reservation and were properly welcomed. A reservation is probably recommended as this restaurant, even though traditional, is on the touristic routes. We paid less than 50eur per person, for two, including one small bottle of wine and no dessert. Everything was delicious. The codfish rice is real portuguese confort food, and the grilled squid was very fresh and tasty.
Bruno H — Google review
The quality of the food was really good. The drinks were also good, but one of the waiters he just brought us a silk which we didn’t order. I think the theory was like if he accepted that then they would add it in into our bill if not, then they won something like that, but they didn’t ask us if they wanted it or not that was a bad not nice part but the food was really good.

Tasca do Chico is a traditional and cozy bar located in Alfama, Lisbon, offering live fado performances and rustic Portuguese bar dishes. It opened its doors in 2009 as the second establishment with the same name, following the success of the first one in Bairro Alto since 1993. The bar has become a mecca for amateur fado singers and has welcomed international cultural figures like Marisa and Anthony Bourdain.
Very cool and good restaurant. There is Fado show on daily basis for free. The staffs are very friendly and they treat us like king and Queen. The foods are pretty good…try the pork leg. A big thank you to Carina, She is so sweet and professional.

Amazing hidden gym tucked away in the streets of Lisbon. You can experience the traditional Fado music away from all the other tourist straps around this area. The place is packed and so many locals go here to enjoy the music. You don’t need to pay for a session of the music and you don’t need to pay for a multicourse meal. It’s up to you how much you wanna spend in money and time likewise. Please do support them because they are really one of the few places that haven’t turned into a tourist trap. Enjoy the authentic experience and support the local business.
Ghazal — Google review
This is such a cool spot to listen to fado, and you don’t have to pay to get in. Since it’s a really small place, tables are shared with other people, which actually makes it feel pretty cozy. It gets packed fast, so I’d recommend going early around 6:30 to 7:30 pm is fine. A 500 ml beer is €6 and olives are €4. They usually do about 4–5 shows during the night with short 15–20 minute breaks in between, when some people leave and others from the line outside get a chance to come in. By 8 or 9 pm, there’s already a long line waiting for a spot. The staff is really friendly, but service can be a bit slow because of the high demand. Wifi✅
Laura G — Google review
Food was cold, not not tasty. The singers had beautiful voice! There’s a minimum charge of 10€, and only cash. There’s no reservation but you wait at the door until show closes for a break and some people leave.
Caroline F — Google review
Amazing!!!!! The atmosphere and the fado music was out of the world. It may be a long wait outside to get in, Google does not give the right wait times. But once you are in you won't want to leave. Eat and then go there to enjoy the drinks and music.
Finhas J — Google review
We came to this place as a recommendation from our walking tour guide to experience a Fado house. The atmosphere was incredible. They had 3 different singers who had their own styles, but the girl was our favorite. Wish I knew her name but she had an amazing voice. The food was ok. 15 euros for the flaming sausage is not really worth it. Its best to drink a few beers and sangria and try their shrimp patties. Definitely recommend the experience. Also… Anthony Bourdain was there once. Lastly, beware that we were lucky we arrived close to opening hour and didnt have to wait… but there was a bit of a line after we went in.

Tasca do Chico is a small fado bar — eight bench tables seating four to five people each, arranged in a relatively small and narrow space. The decor follows a traditional rustic style — simple, clean, and full of character. Inside, the atmosphere is intimate and unmistakably local. The walls are adorned with photos of well-known visitors from past the years. I Service is straightforward and efficient. The menu offers classic Portuguese snacks and drinks. There is a €10 minimum per person and it’s cash only, which staff clearly inform guests about in advance. The evening setup seems to be equal on all days. On our visit, doors opened roughly 30–35 minutes after the posted time (19:30). The music began at about 20:45, featuring three talented guitarists and two singers — one male and one female — whose voices were beautiful and expressive. Sitting so close to the performers creates a special atmosphere that’s rare to experience elsewhere. The performance runs in short sets of three songs, with lights briefly turned on between sets while guests come and go. We ordered a cold plate and sangria — both pleasant and in line with expectations for a small venue like this. Overall, it’s an enjoyable, authentic spot to experience live fado in a very local setting, though the long wait and limited space might not suit everyone.

One of the best little hidden gems in Lisbon if you want to hear traditional Fado music. Starts about 8pm and lasts about 20 minutes. There was a small lineup when we got there but we didn't wait long (30 minutes maybe). They don't allow anyone in while they sing. Many just purchase a 🍷🍷. We stayed for 2 performances and met wonderful people. Very intimate setting. Don't miss this if you're in Lisbon. Worth the wait.

The restaurant features amateur and professional fadistas who perform without microphones or spotlights, creating an intimate and genuine ambiance.
A cosy and warm Fado place and we love it. We got a good table for the performance and love how they dim the entire restaurant during the performance. The only thing we noted was they put in the bread, butter and olive into our bill when we didn’t consume. However, we enjoyed the night so much we decided to just pay for them as tips. Do reserve as it’s a small place and very popular. They do speak English and take card.

We were lucky to get a reservation through Instagram, and I’m so glad we did! The place itself is charming, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. The Fado performances were amazing and gave me goosebumps. It’s a small, intimate venue that makes you feel like part of something truly special. Food wise- The gambas and the codfish cakes stood out in particular. The octopus was pretty average! But overall, food was quite nice. However, I was left disappointed at the end of the evening when we received the bill. From the moment we sat down, our table (like all the others) was set with bread, cheese, olives, and prosciutto. There was no mention that these would be charged, so we were surprised to find them included in the final bill. It felt misleading and left a sour note on an otherwise incredible evening. That aside, a heartfelt thank you to the lovely staff and talented performers who made the night so memorable.

We had a wonderful night of fado and food in this tiny, hot restaurant. The fish cataplana was delicious (and huge - beware Portuguese portions!). The service was extremely charismatic. A boutique fado listening experience, run by a powerhouse of women. Finger-licking delicious local dishes. Everything is cooked, served, and sung with full hearts. I truly wish continued and growing success to this amazing team who fully deserve it. The legendary fado singer Fernanda Proença is an absolute star. She walks in with elegance and calmly takes her seat, patiently waiting for everyone to settle and for the orders to be sorted. There is a lovely rhythm between the food service and the short breaks in the performance, because trust me, you do not want to be making shrimp noises on your plate while Fernanda is pouring her heart out with her voice. It turned into an unforgettable night for us. Fernanda’s deep, powerful voice and her way of singing with such resilience made us feel that fado is, in part, about standing tall and proud in the face of life’s sorrow. As her resonant voice shakes us and the walls around us, she invites Clara, the young owner of the restaurant, to join her. And Clara, what a fierce and elegant force, surprises everyone by stepping in for a beautiful duet with Fernanda. Yes, Fernanda moves you to tears, but also makes you chuckle with her childlike joy, expressive gestures, and whimsical reactions to the space and the people. Though she does not speak English, she told our relatively senior table neighbors that seeing young people like us reminds her of her own youth, and maybe theirs too. When I heard the translation of what she said, I felt responsible to tell her that she is a badass in a nice way, so I wrote my message in English and translated it into Portuguese. I showed it to her on my phone: “Your powerful voice and charismatic presence are timeless. There is no lost youth.” She could not read it herself, so she called Clara from the kitchen to read it aloud. And when she heard it, she kissed me on the forehead. Without speaking a mutual language, it suddenly felt like we had known each other for a long time. We connected simply and deeply. Honestly, these are the moments that make all the miles you fly from the other side of the world so worth it. It goes far beyond just food and drinks. That being said, this was also one of the best meals we had in Lisbon. Thank you, Clara and the whole team, for the experience. And thank you, Fernanda, for singing your heart. We wish Fernanda, Clara, and everyone at the restaurant continued success. You truly deserve it.

Amazing place - the kind of neighborhood place you hope to find in a foreign town, but don't always succeed at. Our food tour guide from Culinary Backstreets gave us this place and we went early hoping to score a table, which we did. The waiter was great. I got a monkfish stew that was unbelievably great. My wife got a crab that was good, but not special. We had great cheese and good wine and dessert. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time. Highly recommended.
Frank H — Google review
The menu is only in Portuguese so if you’re a tourist with a lot of trust in the waiter, just ask him to recommend a dish (seafood or meat). It’ll be great and not expensive at all. There’s a large alcohol selection to go with your meal and once again, just trust the waiter to recommend something that’ll go well. It’s a common thing in Portugal that bread and olives are offered before a meal, usually for a price so if you don’t want it, just tell them no. The restaurant starts getting crowded at 7:45 and by 8 you’ll have to stand in line for a table. Service is really fast, friendly, and efficient.

Portuguese restaurant
Sardinha is a charming restaurant in Lisbon that offers an amazing dining experience. The grilled sardines are particularly noteworthy, reminiscent of the ones enjoyed in Algiers. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, with a mix of locals and tourists enjoying authentic Portuguese cuisine. The service is excellent, and the portions are generous for the price. While the owner may not speak English or Spanish, the warm hospitality shines through.
I have been trying to have the full on Portuguese experience that I have been living in Lisbon for over two years now. So I asked a Portuguese friend of mine to recommend a Tasca that’s value for money but has great food. Well my friend didn’t let me down! This place was great. No thrills but the local husband wife combo (service and chef) made my time here a great one. The photos of my food might look super basic but it’s one of my favorites under €10 meals I have had since I have been here.

Fantastic sardines and sword fish. Super simple but delicious.the sword fish was juicy with a subtle lemon dressing and the he sardines were the best we had in Lisbon. Service was quick and friendly. A no frills tasca with delicious food and cold beers.
Carla C — Google review
Went for the mixed meat platter which was good. Declined bread ( which is extra )as would of been too much food. Service was friendly. However..... very disappointed with the bill when it had "pastel de bacalo" added to it ! Questioned this and was told it was service! An extra 7e for this, really not sure about that, so left a sour taste , be warned . This spolit what would of been a good lunch .

Cozy traditional spot for well made Portuguese dishes. Friendly staff, neighborhood vibe and just a pleasant place to spend some time.

Very cozy lovely place with good simple food. I got rice with sardine and it was perfect. The owner is very lovely

A true Portuguese gem! 🇵🇹✨ Here, you’ll taste the real Portugal. Fantastic traditional food in a small, cozy, family-run restaurant. The kind of place with real soul that’s hard to find these days. If you’re looking for authentic, home-style dishes made with love in a warm and welcoming atmosphere at an unbeatable price, this is the place to go. The sardines are simply the best I’ve ever had, and the feijoada is one of the finest in all of Portugal! Sr. Duarte and his wife, Dona Alda, run the restaurant entirely on their own, they’re truly wonderful people who make you feel like part of the family. And be understanding and patient if you have to wait for your food, the couple runs the restaurant by themselves and truly does their best. If you’re in Lisbon, don’t miss this genuine experience. Obrigado Sr. Duarte e Dona Alda❤️

Beautiful old Portuguese restaurant, very plesant owner. The baked sardines were an absolutely great gourmet experience. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Local spot run by an older couple. We dined during lunch at a busy time and were told there was no more fish, and only chicken on the menu. The chicken was just very okay and came with two scoops of rice. The gentleman gave us bread which we didn’t ask for and then charged us for the bread AND butter. Overall the experience is of a local one but the food and service are not great.

Piri-Piri chicken is a popular grilled dish in Portugal, known for its distinctive chili glaze. It can be found in many restaurants and churrasqueiras, where you can choose between a whole or half chicken with or without the spicy sauce. The piri-piri pepper, which gives the dish its heat, originates from Portugal's former African colonies like Mozambique and Angola. There are specialized restaurants that offer dishes featuring this famous pepper.
Finally an authentic Portuguese restaurant in the center of town. The menu is in many languages, but the wait staff are local and the food is what you would expect a local to have at dinner. I had beef in port sauce served with homemade fries and white rice and bread to soak up the sauce. Delicious and for under 15€ including coffee.

After trying the viral/popular chicken places in Lisbon, I think this place tops them! The flavours were authentic, flavourful, tasty and packed a punch (if you choose to get spicy)! A lovely man served us! And you just know the food is going to be good when there’s a random customer sitting in a corner on his Acer laptop surfing the internet! 🤣
Shimona R — Google review
Oh my word!! The fish (we called them smelt in Canada) were AMAZING!! Light and delicately fried, but not at all over-cooked, so the meat just fell off the bones. Picture attached to prove. Just absolutely wonderful. Random place, at the end of a trolly ride. Perfect.
Matthew D — Google review
The food was authentic purtogese. The pri pri sauce was really good, spicy and hot. The staff was friendly and everything seems to be prepared when ordered which was nice. You may come here for a good local cusisne experience by the city center
Mahmood A — Google review
Terrible experience. Would not recommend to anyone. Let’s start with the food — it was just awful. The potatoes were undercooked. The sea bass we ordered was completely burnt — black, dry, and tasteless, like charcoal. The salad looked like someone hastily chopped it up at home — two sad tomato slices, some grated carrot, and a pile of bland leaves. No oil, no seasoning, no dressing whatsoever. We also ordered mussels — what they brought us was a joke. So tiny, they barely measured a centimeter. Honestly, we thought it was either a mistake or a bad joke. The service was downright unacceptable. The waiter looked annoyed from the moment we walked in, never smiled, and acted like he just wanted us to leave as quickly as possible. Food took around 40 minutes to arrive — with no apology or explanation. And the worst part? The bill. It included items we never ordered: bread, spreads, butter, and olives. We assumed it was a complimentary starter, as often happens in Portugal — but they charged us €1–3 for every single item. When we said we hadn’t ordered it, we were completely ignored and handed the final bill. Bottom line: poorly cooked food, rude service, and a sneaky attempt to overcharge us. Avoid at all costs.

Wanted to kick off my Lisbon food journey with piri-piri chicken. I went for the Chacoal grilled chicken while my friend ordered the famous Bacalhau com Natas (Codfish in Cream). The chicken was delicious, though I was secretly expecting it to be marinated in piri-piri sauce before grilling, blame the YouTube recipe videos I binged before coming. Instead, the piri-piri arrives on the side. Friendly warning: it’s not for the faint of heart. That sauce packs serious heat, so approach it like a dare. Portion-wise, the chicken seems to be on the small side. Tip for fellow meat lovers: don’t be shy, just order the whole bird, you’ll handle it, no problem. The codfish was also tasty, creamy, and comforting, so sharing bites felt like winning the dinner lottery. The service was genuinely friendly, and I liked that the room was buzzing with both locals and tourists. Always a good sign. One note: mains aren’t huge, so grabbing a starter is a smart move. Prices are fair compared to other Lisbon restaurants, so your wallet won’t cry. Overall, tasty food, cozy vibes, and spicy sauce that deserves its own warning label.

A nice neighborhood restaurant with reasonable prices, excellent beer on tap
Martin H — Google review
Chicken was ok but quite dry and not much meat on the bone. Some pieces were nearly all bone. Be careful of the plate of breads/cheeses they give after you order. They charge you for each piece you touched individually and also there was a service charge added on top. What seemed like reasonable prices from the menu came out to be much more with all the additional charges.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Lisbon's Baixa neighborhood, O Arco is a charming seafood haven that embodies the essence of traditional Portuguese dining. Renowned for its legendary cataplana, which overflows with shrimp, mussels, and clams, this cozy family-run restaurant offers an authentic atmosphere enhanced by a backdrop of classic blues music.
Hidden Portuguese cuisine gem. Telling that it had only locals hanging out here. (but they also have the menu in English/Spanish). Food got cooked by that kind looking, elderly lady, who signalled to me, asking if it was good:) (it was!) Prices definitely cheap, too. Definitely recommend it.

I came here by checking google reviews. It’s true!!! This place is delicious ❤️❤️❤️. Definitely will come back!!!! Food and service is top 5 stars 🌟!!!
Mamuka T — Google review
Food was reasonably priced but the mains took a very long time to come. We ordered the Portuguese pork which was a bit salty and the seafood rice which was very flavourful. Service was not super attentive but maybe it was because we were sat outside.
Lyssetta T — Google review
Beware: listed prices are not what you pay. There's a surcharge for eating outside. A tourist tax so to speak (it's in the fine print on the menu). Pretty sure the locals outside did not have to pay that surcharge.
Stijn B — Google review
We ordered snails, bacalhau, and pork fillets. They're not quite to our taste. I don't recommend these dishes, maybe try something else?
Tan — Google review
Small and cozy family restaurant. There is only a few tables so it’s quite difficult to find a place and always busy here. But if you wait a little you can come in and have nice dinner. They give a bread basket with butter and pate for each visitor which you can enjoy while waiting for dishes. Dishes are delicious and prices the lowest we’ve seen here. Highly recommend to visit this restaurant in the old area of Lisbon.
Eugene R — Google review
Reasonable prices. The food feels like it was cooked by grandma 👵🏼. And great atmosphere. Feels very local. Expect to pay around 10 to 15 Euros per person. Friendly staff as well.
El M — Google review
We ordered 2 dishes, octopus rice and portuguese pork. The octopus rice was too salty that we had to ordered more rice to eat with, eventually we just ate the octopus with the added rice, and left all the seasoned rice. The portuguese pork was okay but the vegetable was too sour, Idk if people here love it, but for me it's too much sense. About the service, this is my first day in Lisbon so I'm not sure but in other europeon countries I've been, when I don't order drink I'd get tapwater instead, and no tips. Here we didn't get any water, the food was bad (imo) and the lady was asking us straight for "service fee".

Nestled across the river in Seixal, O Pescador is a charming neighborhood café that exudes warmth and friendliness. Known for its excellent seafood offerings, including the delightful cataplana, this spot is perfect for families looking to enjoy a meal together. The welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by Mr. Aldino, the host who truly makes you feel at home. While some may find it reasonable rather than extraordinary, many appreciate the tasty bifanas paired with a refreshing cold beer.
