Goan restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Lisbon, "Jesus é Goês" stands as a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Goa. Founded by the late Jesuslee, who journeyed from Goa to Lisbon at just 14 years old, this beloved eatery has become a cornerstone of the city's dining scene. Despite his untimely passing in 2023, Jesus's legacy thrives through an array of mouthwatering dishes that celebrate both Goan and Portuguese influences.
If you've watched Somebdy Feed Phil, there is a good reason they picked this place. It was amazing! And the service was impeccable, our server was so nice, even went out to buy a bottle of rum so that our friend who does not drink wine could have a rum and seven! We had several starters: Boges com Chutney de Coentros (chickpeas with onions & coriander), Achar (pickles), Chamuças de Carne (meat samosas), Bhajipuri (potato bhaji with puri), and the amazing Holy Burger com Ovo Escalfado (with poached egg) paired with a bottle of Lua Cheia. This was some of the tastiest food food I have ever had! The chutney was so flavourful! Highly recommend!

We went here for dinner. A very small restaurant with Goan food. The owner chef passed away. We started with some beer and some fritters which came with a delicious chutney so we ordered another round. Next was what we cal Puri Bhaji ( potatoes). Odd to have that as an appetizer but worked well for the vegetarians in our group. We also had the mutton samosas which were ok for the main entrees we had the Xacuti Goat but it was not as tender or tasty . The fish curry was ok we had rice and chapati. Desert was the traditional Benicia cake and a samosa filled with dried nuts and ginger with a side of ice cream. This small place was always full with folks waiting outside. So clearly this place is popular with tourists. This was Sunday and it helps as many other choices were closed

TL;DR: If you come from a country that categorizes ketchup as adventurous, you may love the food. It took me a long time to write this review because I didn’t want to do it while having the immediate reaction influencing my judgment. I got the chance to hear about the restaurant many times, and finally went there to check it. Here it goes my honest and sincere review. The space is small, it doesn’t fit that many people, but you can eat somehow comfortable. Prices are expensive, a meal for two cost over €60—if you are a local, you know this is above the average. The location definitely influences, as it’s behind Avenida da Liberdade, which kinda makes sense. Service was very good. The waitress was helpful, explain us more about the food and recommended us the most famous dishes. As starters, we got something delicious. It had coriander, and it tasted super fresh, we loved it. Sadly, the next ones didn’t follow the same trend. For the main course, we ate one made with shrimp and tomato sauce, and the other it was with lamb (if I’m not mistaken). Let’s face it, it doesn’t look tasty, but “new experience, let’s go for it.” (Check the pictures by yourself) The taste was aligned with the look. The food was super spicy, so my wife couldn’t eat—we were not informed about it by the way. Regardless, I eat spicy food regularly and these dishes were not tasty at all. The combination of shrimp with tomato sauce doesn’t seem to be a good fit. The lamb tasted different, but not a good different. Overall, we love the starters but hated the main course. There were a lot of gringos there (by gringo I mean anyone who doesn’t speak Portuguese natively), and they seemed to be happy about it. Perhaps if you come from a country with a very bland cuisine that categorizes ketchup as a fundamental component or the only spices you use are salt and black pepper, you may love the food. Otherwise, I recommend saving your euros for something else.

We came with friends and ordered quite a variety of dishes. Everything was delicious, though some were a bit spicy for European taste. The staff were very attentive and friendly. If you’re looking to discover new flavors, this is the place to be.

Authentic Goan food. Chutney was excellent. Portions are pretty large - we split two dishes between three people.
Christopher N — Google review
A hidden gem!! Everything we tried was delicious- and different. Maria was so sweet and helped with our order. Sry- no fish or seafood tonight but Boges com chutney, Bhajipuri, Holy Burger, Cafreal de Frango, and Xacuti were amazing. Sauces so good!! And so reasonable. If you want a casual, flavorful and international meal- don't miss Jesus e Goe!!
Paul L — Google review
If you appreciate Goesa cousine this is the place to enjoy all the spices. Good atmosphere, excellent food and amazing venue. Recommend!
Paulo M — Google review
We had the chapati (flatbread), papari (crispy bread), bhaji puri (tiny breads with potato), and fish curry - and all was delicious! The fish was soft and juicy too, now drowned by the curry flavor, and even the sauces to put on the breads (tamarind and coconut mint) complement each flavor well without overshadowing them :) I strongly recommend you giving this place a try!

Goan restaurant
Restaurant
Tentações de Goa is a Goan restaurant located in Lisbon, run by chef Maria dos Anjos. The restaurant offers a unique take on samosas, influenced by the Portuguese Christian culture in Goa. Unlike the vegetarian samosas found in northern Indian cuisine, Goan samosas are typically filled with ground meat or seafood.
Hole in the wall that leads to an explosion of colour and flavour. Great friendly service, adorable decor (even the menus are festive), and the flavors are unreal. I ate a lot of Indian food over the years but this is truly maybe the best I've had.
An L — Google review
Super tasty Goan food, super authentic flavors and high quality
Avinaash K — Google review
My son wanted to eat Indian food from Goa. When I saw it i was a little weary. The food was very good specially the curry with coconut milk. The vindaloo and the chicken Xacuti were good too. Everybody was very nice. It was small but ok the only problem they don’t accept card so bring cash.
Rosma M — Google review
It was our first time trying Goan cuisine, and Tentacoes de Goa made it an absolutely unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was wonderfully inviting. The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to explain the traditional dishes, which we truly appreciated as newcomers. And the food – simply fantastic! Every bite was a delight. We can't wait to return and explore more of their delicious menu.

This place was a little off the beaten path and hard to find. I had to ask directions a couple of times before I found it and let me tell you, it was well worth the effort. The interior is small, cozy and welcoming. Our server was great and very quick. The food was just perfect. With the right level of spicy and flavor. The prawn samosas were delicious, the chicken Xacuti so tasty and for dessert the Bibic and Mango ice cream helped offset the heat from dinner. If you want to taste great goan food, outside of Goa then this is the place to go.
Ian D — Google review
As a Goan I went out looking for Goan cuisine nearby nearby our boarding and I happened to come across this restaurant named Tentagoes de Goa. I happened to take Pork Vindaloo and chicken xacutti. However I was taken by surprise as I opened the container at my apartment. The food was not even near to the authentic Goan style. Vindaloo was made of cumin and pepper masala and the xacutti simply made out of garam masala. The worst part was the quantity which was not not even the quarter of the container. Not enough for even one serving. It seemed like someone's leftover. The price didn't justify the quality and quantity. Worst experience of a life time. Hope there was negative rating that I could use to describe them. Anyways be careful if you come across this restaurant. Not recommended at all.
Calvin G — Google review
Bit hidden place in Lisbon’s tiny gullies. Recommended if you are looking for Goan (Indian) food. Recommended food crab curry and Chicken xacuti
Rina M — Google review
We were without Indian food for 10+ days in Lisbon, so decided to give this restaurant a shot. They have all the typical north Indian style entrees and of course Goan inspired ones as well. The place is small so make reservations especially Friday + weekends or you will wait too long. Got samosas for appetizers and they were good. Entrees we got the chicken vindaloo and a shrimp dish - both were good and we went really fast. The fresh rotis were also well done. My wife like the food so much she ordered something for takeout. Good place for Indian food in Lisbon.

Goan restaurant
Restaurant
Sabores de Goa is a restaurant in the heart of Goa serving traditional Indian dishes. The dishes are spicy and popular with locals and tourists alike. The restaurant is very busy at night, and the samosas are lovely. If you're careful with the sauce, it's easy to handle.
I believe the owner’s name is Sergio — he welcomes you warmly into the restaurant and instantly makes you feel at home. Just like others mentioned in their reviews, it truly feels like a home away from home. The food was very good and full of authentic Goan flavours. Here’s what I tried: Samosas – very fresh and tasty (5/5) Prawns Fry – cooked with recheado masala, absolutely delicious (5/5) Pork Chilly Fry – flavourful and well-prepared (4/5) Crab Xec Xec – rich and satisfying (4/5) Sanna – soft, fresh, and perfect with the dishes (5/5) He even serves Feni, if you’d like to enjoy a traditional Goan touch. Overall, authentic Goan food, a great host, and a place I’ll definitely visit again whenever I’m in Lisbon
Jerome A — Google review
A Goan restaurant in Lisbon, did sound interesting for someone with deep ties to Goa. The restaurant is located not far from the central action packed area of Lisbon although in a less busy alley. It’s run by a family from Panjim, so it was authentic Goan food. The decor is bit dated and setup is surely 15-20 years old, at least looks that way. The place was fairly occupied by clients, many of them regulars. The menu was not elaborate but had few things for everyone. We ended up ordering some fish, prawns and pork based dishes. The food was quite good, very much like home cooking in Goa, to that’s a 👍, though in my opinion the serving size was small for the price. Service was fine, slightly slower than we are used to, but that’s part of Portugal and Goa ! Overall a good experience.
Swapnil — Google review
Great hospitality from the owner but the only thing that put me off that they didnt have a bottle of ketchup and replaced it some spicy curry dip for the chips and the waitress kept fiddling and adjusting our table at the start. But when we actually finished our food and there was nothing but food waste in the plates, we saw her walk past so many times but she didnt bother taking them away from the table.
Manberts D — Google review
Very good food and service. Impeccable flavors and authentic Goan food. A must visit if you like flavour :-) the owner Sergio was a warm, lovely man who took care of his guests checking on each table from time to time. I had a very nice experience there - being a Goan I can confirm the food is super! Try the fish curry, ambotik, sarpatel, samosas, admas - you won't regret!
Fletima D — Google review
One of the best restaurants in Portugal. The taste of the food is 10/10. The owner is a down-to-earth, genuinely kind gentleman with a big heart. You can truly feel the authentic taste of Goa — 100%. A must-visit restaurant in Portugal!
Waiel S — Google review

If you're carving authentic Goan flavours in Lisbon... Sabores de Goa is a fantastic choice. From the moment you step in, the warm ambience, aromatic spices and friendly service set the stage for an excellent dining experience. It all starts with a welcome Indian samosa with the menu offers a delightful mix of Goan and Indian dishes. I was with my family and friends around 16 people and the restaurant made us feel like home. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable happy to recommend dishes for those unfamiliar with Goan - Indian cuisine. The Deco is elegant with traditional Indian artwork and soft lighting creating a cozy atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Goan cuisine and visit Lisbon in Portugal.
Elvis F — Google review
The staff is very friendly and eager to help you with the menu options, the crab xec xec is really good mildly spicy in my opinion so if you're not that good is spice is a good choice also the chickpeas dessert is a good one for a small sweet treat at the end of your meal.

Nestled in the heart of Lisbon's Chiado district, Belcanto is a culinary gem that beautifully marries tradition with innovation. Under the visionary guidance of renowned chef Jose Avillez, this chic wood-paneled restaurant has evolved into a gastronomic haven for those eager to explore the depths of Portuguese cuisine. With an ever-evolving menu that showcases modern interpretations of classic dishes, diners can expect delightful surprises like the artistic Skate Jackson Pollock and the playful Inverted Martini.
Absolutely phenomenal experience dining at Belcanto last night. The staff here are pretty exceptional and made us feel right at home. From the start, they clearly described the menu and how to night would run. They were very attentive throughout the evening and ensured they gave us enough space at the same time. We even took a break half way through the meal which they were very accommodating. The food was fantastic, each dish delivered was very well presented and the flavours were spot on. Not overly complicated but fresh and well balanced. Lots of fish dishes which we love. The restaurant itself is stunning, just the right noise level where we didn't feel like we were in a library and had to whisper like in other restaurants we have been to. We ended up chatted to the couple beside us who were also enjoying the experience like us. We will most certainly be back on our next visit to Lisbon.
Damien C — Google review
Excellent service! The atmosphere in the restaurant was quite good, but it lacked intimacy. The cuisine was not impressive at all. Some dishes looked beautiful, others not so much. In terms of taste, nothing was truly surprising. The basic wine pairing was extremely mediocre and definitely not worth ordering. The wines were just lifeless.
Sergey — Google review
Well deserved Michelin star. We ordered from the A La Carte menu & were surprised with all the snacks in between the meals. Everything was presented and cooked to perfection. The matured sirloin was amazing ! All the meals came out in a timely manner. The service itself was great and attentive to detail. This experience was exceptional and I would come back again !
Shantle S — Google review
Belcanto is definitely unique — and definitely unexpected. If you’re open to extremely creative food (like bacon ice cream) and ready to pay top euros for an artistic dining experience, this is the place for you. One thing I really appreciated was the presentation: before every dish, we were given a small card with a hint about what was coming next. At the end of the meal, those cards were gathered and handed to me in a beautifully scented envelope — a lovely and memorable touch. Another highlight was the short tour through the kitchen before dinner. It was a surprise and something I’ve never experienced before — a very personal and engaging start to the evening. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to inform guests in advance how many dishes are included in the tasting menu. We weren’t too hungry when we arrived and decided to try the full menu anyway, but at some point in the middle, we stopped enjoying the food simply because we were so full and had no idea how many courses were still to come. Also, the bread portions could be smaller — many guests seemed to leave them almost untouched, which likely leads to unnecessary waste. Overall, Belcanto is a remarkable restaurant that blends art and cuisine in a truly creative way. Still, while I enjoy inventive flavors and bold combinations, I tend to prefer meals that stay a bit closer to the familiar side. I’m glad I experienced it once — it’s unforgettable — but it’s probably not a place I would return to.
Anastasiia R — Google review
What a wonderful experience we had for my birthday. I am glad to choose Belcanto for this year celebration. The 9 course tasting was phenomenal. The flavours and the way they had their story telling by each course. The service was beyond 5 star The ambiance The lighting The setting Everything was truly Michelin Thank you for the amazing experience

Belcanto experiments creatively with its dishes, offering unique and interesting flavour combinations. My favourite was the scarlet shrimp dish. I also loved the use of small visual cards to introduce each course, which added a thoughtful and artistic touch.

Gambrinus is a renowned restaurant known for its traditional Portuguese seafood dishes and simple yet elegant setting. The menu features an array of fish and seafood options, with specialties like grilled sea bream and sea bass served with clams. In addition to seafood, the restaurant also offers meat dishes, including game. With a history spanning nearly 80 years, Gambrinus has welcomed numerous national and international personalities, adding to its old-world charm.
The restaurant gave me an old schooled vibe... I love how attentive they were in service. I personally loved the local prawns steamed and salted. Percebes was done well!! This dish could have been the juiciest goose neck barnacles I have ever eaten!!!! The seafood stew was of course the highlight of the meal, and oh, the portion of rice was fluffy and cooked to perfection!!

What an amazing place. It's like travelling back in time. Top notch produce, old school super professional service, classic recipes, everything is exactly as it should be. The decoration of the place is a little outdated, but as far as I'm concerned that just adds to the charm. One of the best meals I've had in Lisbon. Be ready to pay a fair price for it though! Not for the stingy!
Mikel Q — Google review
Dining at Gambrinus in Lisbon was an unforgettable experience. The service is truly first-class — the waiters are warm, attentive, and move with such precision and coordination that it feels like a well-choreographed performance, always focused on every detail for the guest. The food was incredible, every dish absolutely delicious, and the restaurant itself is stunning. Without a doubt, a unique experience not to be missed when in Lisbon.

What a first class experience! Our party of 3 thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, attentive service, great wine selection, and delicious food. From start to finish, we felt like we had stepped into a different world and had the utmost appreciation for it. Highly recommend!

Classical Portuguese - amazing. Highest quality food I’ve had thus far in the city, everything is simple, clean and quality - no faff. Warm shrimps - great simple comforting and delicious Sole - very very good - delicious full of flavor - would have again no doubt Steak filet - out of this world. Probably best steak I’ve had in a couple years. Melted like butter, perfect cooking point ( for medium rare), no nerves or anything, just perfection. Highly recommend.
Dana G — Google review
An authentic taste of old Lisbon at the bar. We didn't have time for a full meal, but we couldn't resist popping into the legendary Gambrinus. We stood at the magnificent, old-world bar and ordered two simple things: a croquete and an oyster. The oyster was shucked perfectly right at the bar - briny, fresh, and clean. The croquete was a masterpiece of the genre: fantastically crispy on the outside with a smooth, flavorful filling that was clearly homemade. It was the perfect way to experience a slice of this iconic restaurant's charm without a full sit-down meal. The barman was efficient and classic, the atmosphere was buzzing, and it felt like stepping back in time. Highly recommend this bar-side experience for a quick, high-quality bite.

The ambiance is one of refined elegance, enhanced by white tablecloths and abundant natural light, creating an inviting space for diners.
Detailed oriented and well travelled diners will enjoy this - a deliberate attempt to maximise local produce. The menu is a test of palette and technique - on both counts Feitoria came through on top. Service attentive and good wine selection. A great choice for a special night out.

Words can’t explain this amazing experience. Very good Michelin restaurant, with high respect for the Portuguese cuisine and in the same time elegant and balanced courses So happy that I’ve chose feitoria We enjoyed also from the wine paring that opened my mind for regions outside the Durou valley and in the same time told me the story of Portuguese wines. Also the cheese experience was great

I was looking forward to this meal from the time I was able to book a reservation. From the time I reserved, they were very responsive to my emails (and I had a lot of questions!). Kudos to whoever is working their emails. For me, the "dining" experience started at that point. I ordered the vegetarian option, and I did not miss the meat at all! My husband ordered the meat menu with wine pairing with his meal, which he truly enjoyed. The sommeliers and the servers were very attentive. My family of 4 dined in. The restaurant did have steak and fries for my 7 year old, which he devoured. Everyone in the restaurant was very attentive to us, even asking my son how he liked his meal. (He gave them a thumbs up, which says a lot) Oh, and icing on the cake -- we did a tour of the kitchen and got to meet Chef Andre Cruz and see his staff at work. What a wonderful sight! It makes me appreciate all the work put towards my meal. If you are able to dine here, please do it. You will not regret it.

My husband and I had an incredible experience here last night. It was, without a doubt, the most seamless and thoughtfully curated tasting menu of our trip. The wine pairings were unique and complemented each dish perfectly. Wellington and Leonardo provided service that was both professional and warmly welcoming. Every dish was beautifully presented with an eclectic touch, perfectly seasoned, and expertly garnished. The quality of the ingredients Chef selected was outstanding. Having the Chef come out to introduce himself was the perfect finishing touch to an unforgettable evening—thank you!

This was one of the best meals and experiences in my life. We had the vegetarian 7 course dinner. Each course was a piece of art, and so beautiful you didn’t want to eat it. The food was unbelievably delicious. The service was fantastic and done by professional waiters. Two waiters served my wife and I at the same time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone without hesitation. AMAZING!

Absolutely incredible experience, you must go if you are able. We did the full menu with wine pairings. I did vegetarian as I am not much of a fish eater (but do eat meat) and my husband did the fish meal. We both agree it was the best meal we've ever had. Staff is very attentive and the whole evening is so entertaining and fun. The meal took about 4 hours so be prepared for a marathon. But everything was SO SO worth it.

This restaurant was definitely the BEST restaurant I have ever eaten at. The service is outstanding and everyone serves your food in sync. As well, the food was unbelievable and the creativeness of the dishes was incomparable to any other restaurant that I’ve eaten at. The dishes were all served on different shaped plates and bowls which were very cool. This is an experience that you should definitely go to and you will not regret. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Tasca da Esquina is a delightful café-style eatery that reimagines traditional Portuguese cuisine through the innovative lens of celebrated chef Vitor Sobral. This charming spot invites diners to savor an array of exquisite tapas, or petiscos, crafted from fresh local ingredients. Signature dishes include tuna paired with razor clams vinaigrette and roasted tomatoes, as well as scallops drizzled with passion fruit emulsion.
Stopped by randomly while shopping and were pleasantly surprised by the amazing flavors and fresh ingredients. Great little patio and inside vibe. Loved the shrimp!

The produce is well selected. Service charming and efficient. The wine by the glass offer was spot on. We ordered salads, the scallops with passion fruit emulsion, the fried fish with a delicious coriander and cockels rice. Loved it and would go back anytime

Flavor combinations like no other. The Chef’s Marinade is an absolute must. Everything on the menu is astounding. Put yourself in Nunu’s hands and feel no pain; just let him bring you the wine. Our highest recommendation. Utmost compliments to the chef. Reservations essential.

Don't think twice, this place is a must. The food is the next level you can find in Portugal. The staff is so friendly and ambience is like original small restaurant, but really comfortable and well designed. Enjoy the dishes to share, plenty of taste and options.

This place was an unexpected find. I am new to Portuguese cuisine and Tasca Da Esquina has just set the bench mark for me. I never experienced such a mix of flavours that goes so well together. Who would have thought Iberian pork would have tasted so good cooked with fresh clams in white wine & garlic sauce. I also never expected perfected baked grilled octopus to go so well with sweet potatoes and almonds. The other component that made this place so special, their service staff. All of them attentive, friendly, jovial and helpful. Really enjoyed our meal here. Our first visit to Lisbon, and our best meal yet.

Chance upon this place. Didn’t wait long for a table and we were welcome with bread, cheese, olives and meat. The tuna tartare was well marinated with a bite from pistachios. Ordered the octopus which came grilled and really tender. Served with sweet potatoes. Pork with cabbage and claims that tasted so good. Never had anything similar elsewhere. Local flavors with great service.

Enjoyed tapas with a group of 6. We tried a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all. Especially enjoyed the Portuguese sausages, tuna tartar and octopus. Service was excellent and friendly across the staff with special mention to Nuno who went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed the evening. Highly recommend!

6 out of 5 stars for service. But food is sadly overrated esp for the price point. Thr atmosphere is also quite uncomfortable given that indoor and outdoor area has hard any divide, cigarettes fumes easily entered the indoor area. A surprising amount of mosquito too. We were charged €12 for a covert consisting of 4 pieces of thin bread, one vodka shot cup’s worth of very standard olive, plus one tiny portion of butter. The kitchen service was chaotic, a few tables arriving much later were served their starter and meal way before we were. The octopus was well cooked, however it is excessively salty and must be balanced out by the sauce accompanying, which is offered in a very low amount. There are better locations to enjoy octopus even within campo de ourique, offering better price quality ratio, less overcrowding, amongst smoke and buzzing mosquitos .

Nestled in the vibrant Mercado da Ribeira, Time Out Market is a haven for food enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable culinary experience. This unique market stands out as the first of its kind globally, where every dish has been meticulously curated to ensure only the finest flavors are showcased. Here, you can indulge in iconic Portuguese delights like codfish and delectable custard tarts while also exploring a diverse array of international cuisines—from mouthwatering burgers to savory pizzas and comforting soups.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Where Lisbon's food scene throws its biggest, most delicious party 🍴 Time Out Market isn't just a market - it's basically Lisbon's culinary greatest hits album all under one gorgeous historic roof. This place has cracked the code on food hall excellence: take the city's best chefs and vendors, put them all in one spot, add communal seating that actually works, and watch the magic happen. The variety is absolutely mental in the best way possible. Whether you're craving proper Portuguese bifana, fresh seafood that tastes like the Atlantic just delivered it personally, or want to sample local wines that'll make you question why you ever drank anything else - it's all here. The energy is infectious, with locals and tourists happily rubbing shoulders over shared tables while debating which pastéis de nata vendor reigns supreme. Smart tip: Come hungry but pace yourself - there's too much good stuff to try it all in one go. The communal seating works brilliantly for solo diners and groups alike. Prices are fair considering the quality and location, and the vendors genuinely care about what they're serving. This is how food markets should be done everywhere. Absolutely essential Lisbon experience! 🇵🇹✨

Food was delicious! I enjoyed the jungle curry with prawns from Asian Lab and the flavours were rich and the colour so vibrant. The staff were very friendly for a quick service encounter and very accommodating when I returned to request take-out containers. My aunt ordered a margarita pizza that she really enjoyed (classic thin crust Italian style with minimal toppings, quality ingredients, and great flavor). My mom ordered the seafood platter from one of the vendors, but could not recall which one. We all loved the crisp sautéed veggies served with her fresh fish. We also enjoyed Gelato from the only gelato shop in the food haul. They gelato shop even offered samples, which we enthusiastically took advantage of before deciding on flavour choices. The atmosphere was lively and loud, which aligns with the expectations one might have for a food haul. Even if you prefer a quieter dining experience, I would still reccomend coming here and ordering food as take out and enjoy a picnic by the water. I thought this was a great option for my family since we all enjoy different cuisines and this allowed us each to enjoy our preferred meal while still dining together. A quick note for those hoping to dine on the terrace: all food must be in a takeout container, as plates/trays/real cutlery are not allowed outside. A security guard stopped me when I went to sit outside and advised that this was not allowed.
Cathleen B — Google review
The food is generally good here, but nothing too spectacular. I'd say it's nice since if you're with a group, everyone can get something different from all of the stalls. Nothing really stood out among the food we got. However, I really enjoyed the tiramisu we got from one of the stalls. Service is fast and place is quite clean.
Maezel C — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Time Out Market - Great Vibe, Disappointing Execution Time Out Market in Lisbon is, without a doubt, a fantastic experience from an atmospheric standpoint. When you first walk in, the buzz is infectious. The high ceilings, the sprawling communal tables, and the sheer variety of stalls all contribute to a vibrant, energetic, and undeniably cool scene. It's perfectly located, the place is clean, and the concept of having so many famous Portuguese chefs and eateries under one roof is brilliant. You can easily spend an hour just soaking up the noise and energy, and for that alone, it earns two of its three stars. However, the moment the food hits your table, the experience takes a sharp dive. My main critique is that while the promise of world-class food is there, the reality is a rushed, indifferent execution. Every dish we ordered—from a famous shellfish vendor to a traditional prego sandwich—felt like it had been thrown together without any love or attention to detail. It seems the high volume of customers has turned what should be a culinary showcase into an impersonal assembly line. The fish was slightly dry and poorly seasoned, the plating was sloppy (garnish just dropped haphazardly), and the fries were lukewarm, tasting like they’d been sitting for ten minutes before being bagged up. There was a palpable sense of, "Get it out, move the line." This market feels like an exceptional idea that sacrifices quality at the altar of efficiency and tourist foot traffic. Lisbon is one of the world's great food cities, and you owe it to yourself to experience the real passion that Portuguese chefs put into their work. If you are looking for a quick beer and to enjoy the lively environment, this is fine, but if you’re searching for a memorable meal, skip the queues here. Just a few steps away, in the Alfama or Cais do Sodré neighbourhoods, you will find countless better, more authentic, and more lovingly prepared options at similar (or often better) prices. Save your appetite and your Euros for one of the genuinely excellent, smaller, family-run restaurants Lisbon has to offer. This is a tourist trap disguised as a foodie destination.
David P — Google review
Time Out Market promise is simple: to house the absolute best of Lisbon under one roof. They claim to feature the city's top chefs, its best dishes, most delicious tapas, and finest desserts. How do they ensure this excellence? Everything, they say, is chosen, tasted, and rigorously tested by an independent panel of Time Out journalists and critics. The rule is straightforward: if it's good, it gets into the magazine; if it's truly great, it earns a spot in the Market. As my first stop in Lisbon, I was eager to see if the reality matched the hype. What I found was a place overwhelmingly crowded, making it extremely difficult to find anywhere to sit. Inside, a large variety of food stalls offered many different sweet and savory options. This location, I noted, operates on a card-only policy. Unsurprisingly for such a popular tourist spot, the food is quite expensive. I ordered a cod dish that cost past 20 euro, and honestly, it was very disappointing. The flavour was completely bland. While the market's vibrant atmosphere is worth experiencing for a quick look, it's not a place I would return to for a daily meal. You can find better food at a much more reasonable price outside in the city. Overall, despite the grand claims, I was not impressed.

Time Out Market Lisbon is a must-visit for anyone who loves good food! The atmosphere is lively and full of energy, with so many amazing options to choose from. I tried the pan-fried octopus and a delicious risotto, and both dishes were simply outstanding — fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. It’s the kind of place where you can truly experience the best of Lisbon’s culinary scene all in one spot. The quality of the food, the variety, and the overall vibe make it a place I’d definitely go back to. Highly recommended for food lovers visiting Lisbon! 🍽️🇵🇹

Awesome place for our group of 11. By sheer luck we found seating for 9 and everyone was happy with the variety of places to eat. Huge sitting area, but fills up on weekends so go with and grab any available seats. A bit on the pricey side, but we enjoyed the experience.

Nestled near the Lavra elevator in downtown Lisbon, Solar dos Presuntos is a culinary gem that showcases the best of traditional Portuguese cuisine. Since its establishment in 1974, this restaurant has become a beloved destination for both business lunches and family gatherings. The inviting atmosphere is perfect for enjoying an array of dishes featuring fresh fish and seafood alongside hearty meat options, all served in a warm, family-style setting.
An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Solar dos Presuntos From start to finish, our visit to Solar dos Presuntos was nothing short of exceptional. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between tradition and elegance, setting the stage for what turned out to be a truly memorable meal. We started with a selection of tapas and cheeses, each bursting with authentic Portuguese flavors — a perfect way to awaken the palate. The lobster soup was rich, velvety, and packed with flavor, easily one of the best we’ve ever tasted. And then came the star of the meal: a perfectly cooked medium steak, tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was a reminder of the kitchen’s skill and attention to detail. Beyond the incredible food, what really stood out was the impeccable service. The staff was professional, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Attentive without being overbearing, they made us feel welcome and well cared for throughout the entire evening. Solar dos Presuntos delivers not just a meal, but a full culinary experience.

Amazing restaurant! Definitely deserves a 5 star rating. The atmosphere and environment in the restaurant was top quality. The food is traditional Portuguese and will not disappoint, it was some of the best I've had in any restaurant in Lisbon. Considering the quality, I would say the restaurant is reasonably priced. It was around 25-35 euros for mains with the portions being very generous. I'll definitely be back soon!

A true high-end dining experience in Lisbon! The atmosphere is fantastic, featuring a wall full of celebrity photos, which adds a touch of glamour. We ordered the grilled sea bass for three, and it was absolutely outstanding—perfectly cooked, flaky, and exceptionally tasty. For dessert, I tried the famous "Grandma's Secret Recipe (since 1974)". It was wonderfully creamy, though perhaps a tad on the sweet side for my personal taste. Overall, the food quality is top-tier and well worth the price. Highly recommend. P.S. I found this restaurant via Google Gemini AI, you also could try it ;)

The food, the staff and the atmosphere were all amazing! This is the place if you are looking for authentic Portuguese food in a semi-formal environment. I love how they bring out the seafood all on a platter and you choose which ones you want them to cut and cook. It’s a fancy place but not too fancy (saw families with small kids as well). This place is not to be missed!!

The food was excellent. The cod fish is a bit salty. Be aware. Bernardo Allegro the waiter and the entire staff, did an excellent job! He did inform us that the cod dish was salty but we had to try for ourselves. The steaks were fabulous, I highly recommend ordering one of the steaks. You can't go wrong with a good steak and they certainly know what they are doing. We had an excellent bottle of local wine, Verde vino the waiter had chosen for us. Service was impacable. The waiters are very proffessional and for sure they know their job well. For sure I recommend this restaurant. Thank you Bernardo A. for a wonderful meal and a great experience!

Trindade is a renowned historic Portuguese restaurant located in a former monastery, offering a unique dining experience with its impressive display of tiles, frescos, arches, and a charming courtyard. Situated in the elegant district of Chiado, it is considered a classic in Lisbon's restaurant scene. The establishment boasts Portugal's oldest brewery and presents an extensive menu featuring traditional Portuguese dishes such as Arroz de Marisco and an array of seafood options along with grilled steaks.
We didn't know what to expect but this place has some of the best seafood we've had in Europe. The cataplana stew in particular was absolutely incredible. It came in the traditional dish which was cool to see. It was full of clams, shrimp, and big chunks of delicious white fish. The stew itself was nice and spicy and tasted like it'd been cooking for days. We started with a crab dip which was also good, and came in the shell - a nice touch. The octopus was also great - the perfect texture you're looking for. We also had their famous beer, which was a nice amber with full flavor and not something I've seen anywhere else in southern Europe. The interior of the building is also covered in painted tiles which are gorgeous. Overall, a really cool spot to have dinner.

We stopped in to look and have some drinks. All of our group enjoyed the atmosphere and the beer they have there. Their lager was my favorite. I took some pictures because all the great tile work and included there display of what’s available to eat seafood wise. Stop in, you will be happy you did.

The restaurant exudes grandeur the moment you step in .A cathedral of light and tiles. Vaulted ceilings arch overhead, chandeliers glow like halos, and walls gleam with exquisite Portuguese azulejos, each panel a hand-painted story in blue and gold. The atmosphere is majestic, echoing with quiet conversation and the clink of cutlery against polished stone tables — elegance layered in history. Yet, beneath all that splendour, the food falls short of its setting. While the presentation was refined, the flavours were merely average, lacking the vibrance the room promises. The service, however, was attentive and polished, and pricing reasonable considering the lavish surroundings. In short , a restaurant that dazzles the eyes but not quite the palate. The grandeur remains unmatched; the food, regrettably, does not rise to meet it.

I booked Trindade for my bf's birthday celebration. Staff are attentive & friendly. They worked their best to accommodate my needs. Food is amazing. We order roasted octopus, seafood platter (medium), trio dessert & 2 drinks. 👍🏻 The decor of the restaurant is very beautiful. The only down side was ... there were 2 groups of Chinese tours in the restaurant and they were way too loud. 🙉🙉🙉 The dining experience would be perfect if it was not that noisy. 👌🏻

I visited this place three times during my 6 day staying in Lisboa. The staffs are very kind and the foods were very tasty also. Especially Aurea Lager, which is the best draft beer I've ever had. Me and my friend drank 5 pints each(which made my friend super exhausted 🤣) but we wanted more...

⭐ 1 out of 5 stars The place is undeniably beautiful and perfect for photos, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the aesthetics. Service was slow, and the staff seemed visibly irritated throughout our visit. I ordered the Bacalhau à Brás, which tasted like it had been frozen — I’ve honestly had better meals at fast food chains. When we asked to split the bill, the staff couldn’t manage it. Upon speaking with the manager, we were met with hostility and shouting, which was completely uncalled for. Aesthetics aside, the poor service and disappointing food.

Trindade is a unique spot as it used to be a monastery, and I really liked the cozy and charming environment. We ordered a white wine to go with our meal, along with the “Lisbona seafood platter” which came with oyster, crab, coast prawns, large shrimps, and goose barnacles. The seafood platter was okay overall – fresh, but we’ve had better shrimps and prawns elsewhere. We also tried the charcoal roasted octopus, which was decent but not outstanding. The highlight for us was definitely the grilled codfish fillet “À Lagareiro” – perfectly charcoal-grilled, bathed in olive oil, and served with potatoes. The codfish was flavorful and the potatoes soaked up the olive oil beautifully. Overall, the atmosphere and setting were memorable, and while not every dish wowed us, the codfish made it worthwhile.

Bistro 100 Maneiras is a vibrant culinary hotspot where Portuguese flavors beautifully intertwine with Eastern European influences, all set in a trendy atmosphere that buzzes until the early hours. This Michelin-starred gem, helmed by the charismatic chef Ljubomir Stanisic—often compared to Gordon Ramsay for his bold personality and innovative flair—offers an unforgettable dining experience.
We are a group of seven people. Staff kindly set up a table for all of us and gave us top top service. It's unusual to spend €600 for dinner here in Lisboa... but it can add up when the wine doesn't stop flowing (how fun!). The dishes were superb and the style of shared sides is a lot of fun to get more variety.

We went to have lunch on a Saturday. This place is a little bit magical and unexpected. The entrance tells you since the beginning that there’s something different in this place. We ordered some croquettes, the Bosniazinha, and black pork T bone. Each one of the dishes were very well prepared and with amazing taste. The wines, amazing, the sommelier really knows what he was doing and suggesting. For dessert we had creme brûlée and tufahija with vanilla ice cream. Both of them with great taste, quantity and not so sweet. The restaurant and atmosphere is great, each floor is with different decoration and atmosphere. Is with to visit each one of them. The wine “cellar” is astonishing. Definitely if you are around Chiado is a place that is worth to try and enjoy. You won’t regret it.

We stopped in here late at night for a quick cocktail, as I had seen their menu online and it seemed intriguing. The bartender was fantastic, very accommodating, and skilled at his job. The cocktails were certainly different, and not necessarily in a bad way. Just strange in a fun way. It's a well-designed space. We understandably couldn't try any food as it was almost near closing, so I can't speak to that. There were some other employees there that caused a bit of difficulty to us (I think they wanted to close quickly), but the bartender did an excellent job of calming them down and not ruining the experience for us as we hurriedly finished up. (We felt bad for keeping him even though it said it was open for longer.) I'd say if you're here for a meal, definitely give the signature cocktails a try!

Amazing! From the first till last moment we enjoyed it. We walked in and luckily they had space. The lady who greeted us at the entrance was very sweet and helpful. We got to our table and they communicated that my girlfriend was vegetarian (i told them when i asked for the menu at the entrance) and were greeted bij super hospitable servers. The sommelier helped us with 2 amazing bottles of wines which we loved. Perfectly fitted to our wishes. The explanation of the menu was clear and the suggestion of 2-3 starters together to share were perfect. We ordered 4 starters (it was too much therefore listen to their suggestions haha) and they were lovely. The starters touched all the sweet spots and where toughtful, surprising and very very vega friendly. As a main we ordered an amazing vegetarian pasta which was superb. The other main course we ordered was the steak with foie gras and fresh black truffle. I work in hospitality and have been to many high end places where service is key, the food is amazing and the overall experience is amazing. But this main course, this amazing main course was the best i have EVER had, the cousion was amazing, the foie gras melted like butter with an amazing crispy outside en the jus de veaux with it was so deep in flavour it brought tears to my eyes. This is a must visit in Lisbon and i would highly recommend this to everyone. Thanks again and i know where i’m headed whenever i’m back in Lisbon! Obrigado❤️

We're on our honeymoon and decided to spoil ourselves with this restaurant, but we really struggled with the very long wait time to get food on our table. People who came after us were served and left long before us. I really enjoyed their beetroot and mostly liked the food, but it didn't match the price per dish and service. It's just a shame because there's so much potential. The online menu and menu posted outside of the restaurant is not updated.

Fábrica da Nata - Pastéis de Nata is a charming little tavern located in Lisbon's Alcantara district, within the LX Factory complex. The decor exudes a seriously vintage vibe with its eclectic mix of furniture and walls adorned with shelves of old books, ceramic plates, and antique commercial signage. The homemade food served here is delicious and pays homage to traditional Portuguese cookbook recipes.
We tried some absolutely fantastic Portuguese tarts—crispy, flaky pastry on the outside and a perfectly creamy, slightly caramelized custard in the center. They were still warm and just melted in the mouth. Honestly, some of the best we’ve ever had. If you're in Portugal, don’t miss out on these heavenly little treats!

It was my first time trying egg tarts, mainly because I’m not a big fan of eggs. Since they’re quite famous I decided to give it a try. I was a bit worried they would have a strong eggy taste - but luckily, that wasn’t the case. They were sweet and surprisingly mild, and in my opinion, you couldn’t really taste the egg much at all. The place itself was decent in terms of experience and service - it was quick and efficient. However, it didn’t feel very clean. I might have just been unlucky, but the environment could have been better. That said, the price and taste were both very reasonable, and overall, I was pleasantly surprised.

We were on a mission to try as many pastéis de nata as possible during our trip to Portugal and stumbled upon Fábrica de Nata. We decided to grab six, and let’s just say I ate five of them myself while my wife had the other one. That pretty much says it all. They were really good, creamy, flaky, and had that unmistakable custard flavor you don’t forget. If I had to rank all the natas we tried, I’d put these solidly in the B tier. Still delicious and absolutely worth stopping for, especially if you’re nearby. Very nice box presentation I’d like to add. So good that I couldn’t stop at one, or two, or three. I ate all five back to back. No regrets.

This place is a must try for the flaky Portuguese custard pastry. Every where you go in Portugal, you will find Pastel De Nata. But I find the ones over here the best. They have other variants also but I liked the regular one better. It's on the main Street and got a good nice vibe to the place

Honestly, for me that’s the greatest pastel de nata across whole Portugal. And trust me, I’ve tried multiple different pastelarias, even the famous one from Belem. Still, these little stars are absolutely delicious and just one bite sends you to taste paradise 🤭☺️ I could eat them daily and still wouldn’t be enough for me 😁
Magda W — Google review
Large indoor and outdoor seating areas however with the lunch rush there were few available seats. Ordering was a breeze with an online ordering till with the shop with helpful pictures of the menu items. The pastels stole the show, perfectly crafted and the addition of icecream to one was great! The fresh sandwiches are not too be missed, packing layers of flavour. Particularly the chicken sandwich with fresh poppyseed bread.

Delicious pastel de natas. Though I wouldn’t say the best but definitely one of the top. Also it’s so busy they’re always making fresh batches including when I went (late at night 10mins before closing)

O Velho Eurico is a cozy eatery known for its classic regional dishes and snug dining space with exposed-stone walls. Originally a traditional tasca, it gained fame for its exceptional polvo a lagareiro and balcalhau no forno. After the owner's retirement, young chefs took over, introducing an array of petiscos to the menu. The hand-written chalkboard showcases traditional Portuguese dishes that have been enjoyed for generations.
Amazing amazing food and drink. Very friendly service. The staff serve shots while you wait for your table. They are famous for their piglet pastry , the cod dish and the duck rice. They serve drinks , the piglet pastry and sardine dish through the window while you wait for the table. If you don’t have a reservation, prepare yourself for ~2 hour wait. It was a memorable experience for us.
Naghmeh S — Google review
Everything about this restaurant is exceptional except for the long wait to get in. It’s so popular that the reservations were booked out until the next month. We tried to get a walk in table. We had to wait 2 hours for a table. BUT once we did get a table and had the food all was forgiven. The food was so delicious! Go here if you have a night to wait for a table. The food is worth it if you’re happy to wait. Once you’re in, the service and atmosphere is excellent. You can also order snacks and drinks while you’re waiting outside.
Christina M — Google review
We came here without a reservation (they’re fully booked for weeks!) but decided to wait for a walk-in spot. Ended up waiting about 2.5 hours – and honestly, I’m so glad we did. The vibe outside was great; they served drinks through a little window, and we got chatting with locals and other people waiting. It actually made the wait really fun. Once we got in, the service was amazing. The sous chef helped us choose dishes since some of our group don’t eat pork, and everyone was super friendly. We sat at the counter and got to watch the kitchen in action – speaking to chefs as they dished up their plates. The food was incredible! The watermelon and tomato salad, shrimp sauce with bread, and tuna picapau were my highlights. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully cooked. Totally worth the wait and the hype. This place made the perfect start to our trip and was one of the best places we dined at. If you can wait for a table to clear, trust me you won’t be disappointed.
Shelan K — Google review
We had a great time here. Reserved in advance and got a table right away, however saw some people come early and put their name on the waiting list for the next available table so that is also an option. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. Waiters were also very attentive and kind. Definitely recommend!
Jenny N — Google review
A restaurant is an experience. If judged on the food alone, O Velho Eurico would get 6 stars. The food is incredible and reasonably priced. The issue is its pretention. It claims to accept reservations online, yet it only does that for a very small number of tables. Perhaps even just one table. I know this because I tried making a reservation about two months in advance and was not able to do so. I even contacted the restaurant directly and was told my only option was to arrive at the restaurant at opening (7:30pm) and reserve a table for that evening. So I did. I got there 30 minutes early and there were already 10 tables ahead of me waiting on the line. By opening time, there were at least 10 more tables after me. I then waited until about 745pm to even get to the host to put my name on the list and was told it would be an hour and 15 minutes before I would get a table. It was two hours. I finally sat down with friends at 9:45. They had about 5 main dishes, a handful of smaller dishes and a few desserts - not by any means an extensive menu. I also didn't think the staff particular nice - they weren't rude but weren't overly helpful or accommodating. Now, like I said before, the food was incredible. All of it. Top-notch execution. We had the chicken peri peri, duck rice, pork pocket (similar to an empanada), fries with Francesinha sauce, and leite creme. But to think that it's ok to ask tourists in town for just a few days to sacrifice 3 hours of time to wait for a table seems absurd and pretentious. For that reason, I cannot in good conscience give this restaurant give stars. This is an easy fix - so fix it. Permit reservations. And if you are concerned about people not showing up, charge a fee for late cancellations. Or just accept people on a first-come, first-serve basis. But do not put your customers through this circus of an ordeal.

Lisbon is packed with good restaurants and bistros, but this was our favourite, especially when considering the price/value as well as the ambiance! Delicious, authentic food with some creative twists such as the octopus in orange sauce. All sauces were made to be scooped up by bread at the end. Friendly staff who seemed to be enjoying themselves, and a very short selection of good Portuguese wines. We started queuing 40 minutes early, which might have been a bit early, but did not regret it when we saw how long the queue got in the end.
Christoffer S — Google review
We dined here last night and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we've had during our five-week trip around Europe! A word of advice: go in with an open mind. Be willing to try new things and embrace the authentic, rustic charm of the place - if you do, you’ll absolutely love it. We didn’t have a reservation and arrived around 7:15 PM. The staff added us to the waitlist and estimated about a 1–1.5 hour wait. No problem! We grabbed a drink at a nearby bar, then returned to enjoy a drink in their outdoor area before being seated. We were lucky enough to be seated at the bar, which turned out to be a real treat - we got a front-row view of the kitchen where everything was cooked with love, passion, and incredible efficiency. We ordered the duck rice, piri piri chicken, squid with orange sauce, and fries. Every single dish was phenomenal - packed with flavour and beautifully prepared. To top it all off, we ended the night with their delicious sponge cake, enjoyed great conversation with the friendly staff and fellow diners, and left with huge smiles on our faces. Highly recommend this spot - it’s a true gem!

Restaurante Ponto Final is a cozy and charming restaurant located in Cacilhas, Portugal, offering traditional Portuguese dishes and a selection of wines. Its rustic waterfront patio provides stunning views of Lisbon and the 25 de Abril bridge, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Featured in the Netflix series Money Heist, this restaurant has gained fame for its picturesque location.
One of the most beautiful views and incredible dining experiences! Definitely make a reservation if you can. We made one for 7pm and were able to watch the sunset, they were very generous with the table dining time, we did not feel rushed. Get there early because you get to pick your own table once the staff confirms your reservation. There are two separate lines, one for walk ins and one for reservations. The food is delicious & fresh. Prices are reasonable considering the restaurant. I thought the prices would be steeper, pleasantly surprised! The staff was very attentive. 10/10!!

We couldn't make a dinner reservation for several months in advance so we settled for 12:30 lunch time on Wednesday. Weather was perfect and we got a best table by the water. Amazing view of the bridge. Spicy shrimp was not spicy but extremely delicious. 10 large ones! Baked fish was amazing as well. Service was good and friendly. I can't even imagine how beautiful it is during sunset dinner.

Absolutely stunning spot and atmosphere, we booked via email the day before and they luckily had space, we had octopus and cod fritters for entree the octopus was so tender, I was not a big fan of the texture of the cod fritters but the flavour was nice. We ordered the ribs and veal cheeks for mains they were huge portions the veal was delicious very tender slow cooked yummy gravy, the ribs were also very tender and very delicate flavours my husband loved it. We were unable to finish our meals we could have shared one between us. Would recommend. Useful info there are a lot of stairs to get down but there is an elevator for anyone who has issues with stairs ( I added a photo of elevator)

This was really an iconic experience. We made reservations months ahead of our trip. It is expensive but worth it in my opinion. We got the shrimps and it was the freshest and most flavourful dish ever. The monkfish stew was ok but the portion sizes are huge. It says it’s for 2 people but it’s at least for 4. The server won’t tell you that. They were able to make me a virgin mojito and charge around €3 for it which I thought was good. I would highly recommend the shrimps. If you plan on doing for sunset dinner then definitely dress warm and take blankets. Best way to get there is uber to the location and the uber drops off near an elevator and you take it down and it’s a short walk on your right.

I’ve been meaning to visit Ponto Final ever since I saw it on Somebody Feed Phil. For reservations, I had to email at least month before and we went for lunch at 12:30, which is when the restaurant opens. You just wait your turn and they’ll come seat you. The view is beautiful and food is so fresh. It was the perfect meal. We had the grilled sea bream, bread, salad and the chicken giblets with blood rice. The sea bream was the highlight for me and the sauce it came with! The serving size for the chicken giblets with blood rice was very generous and it was very scrumptious. It reminded me of a Filipino pork blood dish called ‘dinuguan’ which I also love.

We caught the catamaran between lisbon to the Ginjal. Nice and fast ride in between. We have a great experience at Ponto Final. It’s difficult to get a reservation but the get a walking as well. We wait around 45 minutes to be seated. Mean while when we to the Elevator Panoramic Boca de Vento to enjoy the views from there (stunning scenes). Server did a great job. We started we some fresh Oysters, Pork salad, octopus whole shrimp and small fry fish. For entry we ordered grilled dorados. Fresh seafood was just amazing. Waiting time paid off.

Had reservations for lunch but arrived late because of the long wait in Cristo de Rei so we had to wait for about an hour… worth it! The shrimp dish is ❤️! Nothing like it. We ordered a few more dishes that sadly arrived after we billed out (so we refused it as we were done already) but nonetheless it was a perfect. Octopus salad is good too. I enjoyed the mojito.

I had an unforgettable experience at this seafood restaurant! The view alone is absolutely stunning — overlooking the ocean, especially at sunset, it creates the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing and memorable meal. The seafood was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. Every dish had a balance of flavor that really showcased the quality of the ingredients — from the grilled fish to the shrimp and calamari, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. The staff made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. If you’re visiting Lisbon (or anywhere nearby), this is definitely a must-try spot. Great food, breathtaking views, and a cozy, elegant setting — a true gem by the sea. 🌊🐟✨ But it took more time than expected but it was worth waiting

Taberna Sal Grosso, a contemporary tavern near Santa Apolonia train station, offers inventive Portuguese petiscos that put a unique twist on traditional recipes. The menu features dishes like stewed pork cheeks with apple and celery puree and chicken with suckling pig sauce, showcasing the fusion of familiar flavors with unexpected ingredients.
Advisable to book 2-3 days in advance, because this quaint space have very limited seats with too amazing food. We're so lucky to still secure a spot being second on the waitlist at 8pm, on our final night in Lisbon. FOH is super charming and hospitable. They make the BEST sangria ever and yet the highlight of the dinner is us overspending close to £50 to order extra dishes - still didn’t make it to finish their entire menu as we wished.

Came here for lunch with a reservation. Small establishment so I would highly recommend making a reservation. Food was very good and came in generous portions. We didn’t expect to enjoy the tomato salad as much as we did. Succulent sweet tomatoes balanced perfectly w the salty ham and cheese and the subtle sweetness of the figs. The garlic prawns were very fresh and very tasty. The sauce was a little too salty though. The octopus was also very well cooked, very fresh, again, a bit too salty. The sweet potato mash was delicious too. Great meal overall, would have been perfect if it was less salty.

This tends to be one of the most recommended restaurants in Lisbon and for good reason. It’s pretty small and you should get a reservation, but I’ve been able to walk in 2 years in a row and get seated (they open at 7 and second seating at 9 so I’d try going around 8 for a small party walk in). It’s cute inside, service is great, food is modern Portuguese. It’s fresh and delicious and definitely worth a visit

This is a fantastic restaurant with mouthwatering dishes! We tried the roasted cheese with honey (literally was amazing) and bread, beef cheeks (super tender and fell apart as soon as you put your fork in it), octopus with sweet potatoes (our absolute favorite!!) and tomato salad with ham and figs! It was all so delicious and the presentation was excellent. You MUST make a reservation in advance here and don’t hesitate to come during a weird hour like 3:30pm, which is when it’s a little more empty because they only allow so many reservations before they close the restaurant for dinner hours.

Pls make a reservation- it seems like it’s always fully booked. Cute little place with best Sangria! Fried baby squid was good n savory. Fries decent- saffron rice was tangy- and pork cheeks with tomato migas was not my cup of tea… very tender tho- wanna try other dishes next time if I get a chance.

The taste of the food is amazing. I went there on my own and ordered in total 3 main dishes and 1 starter. That speaks volumes. However is difficult to get a reservation because it’s a tiny restaurant so it’s better to reserve at least days ahead. Without a reservation you will most likely b rejected at the door.

This was our second time dining at Taberna Sal Grosso, and honestly, we loved every single dish! Just a heads up—there are limited seats, so I’d definitely recommend booking online in advance. We actually had to come for lunch instead because the dinner slots were all full. The octopus and beef cheek are always the most memorable dishes for us; along with bottles of sangria! The staff were super friendly, and overall, it’s one of the best restaurants we visited during our trip to Portugal.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the famous seafood platter, which presents a mouthwatering selection of ocean treasures garnished with zesty lemon and aromatic garlic.

Very good. I rarely give 5 stars. They take the food out 1 at a time. You can take your time to taste and enjoy the seafood. Why rush? It takes time to taste the seafood. The crab is amazing. It is fresh and sweet. Especially the crab shell fat thing.......it is such rich flavor....omg! Put some one the bread and it tastes like heaven. The clams in soup........ omg it is so good. Perfect with the bread. It is perfectly made. The grilled seabass is awesome. How it suppose to be! Grill mark on the fish but the meat is really tender. Good. Good . Good.

After reading about this place in timeout magazine top 10 I was super excited to get there. Unfortunately, although the seafood looked amazing and fresh it wasn’t cooked well. Oysters were good standard fare. Sadly, my tiger prawns were over cooked and way too salty with chunks of sea salt. The fries were barely warm and chewy and the tomatoes in my mixed salad were not fresh. 70 euro for two tiger prawns that were not great and over 100 for our bill with beers. Disappointed.
Shannon R — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience. The food, the service, the vibes! Wonderful. Nuno our waiter is definitely a great part of our experience. We had the large seafood cold platter, a lobster, and the clams dish. Ended it with some Portuguese port . Super super!
Ah S — Google review
The reason for the 1* review is that my partner got food poisoning here. My partner and I were very excited about coming because we had heard a lot about Portuguese seafood. We ended up ordering seafood by the kilo here. We got steamed clams, gooseneck barnacles, espinho and coastal shrimp, whelk and crab. I'll start by saying that the clams, gooseneck barnacles and shrimp were good. The crab was dry, a bit leathery, and the crab back was way too salty. The big problem was the whelk. We ordered 6 pieces, I ate one of them and noticed that the odor was really strong. I tried to eat another and the smell was so foul, I couldn't eat it. Unfortunately, my partner decided to eat that one and the rest of the whelks. 4-5 hours later he starts having severe stomach issues. This establishment really needs to check the quality of their seafood; subpar freshness is not ideal but okay, but no seafood should make a patron sick.

Highly recommend this local spot! If you’re visiting Portugal, you absolutely have to try the seafood — and this place is a perfect choice. The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly affordable. I can’t comment on the meat, but when in Portugal, seafood is a must, and this restaurant does it right. Also, don’t miss the red sangria — it was excellent. A great local experience — definitely worth a visit!

Found this gem of spot for dinner from a local. I was dining alone and ate at the counter. Made friends quickly. Friendly atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite. My wine choice, Vinho Verde which was a perfect pairing with my shrimp sautéed with garlic & olive oil. …and of course the bread for dipping the tasty sauce. Savory. Simple, yet each ingredient fresh, zingy and treat for your taste buds. Authentic fresh delicious Portuguese food. Relax atmosphere. A must go to if you find yourself in Lisbon Portugal. 🇵🇹

I ate good at this classic tasca. I took the menu which cost me 12 euros. Chicken was a bit dry and they could’ve added a little salad. Couldn’t complain about the rest. There is bread on the table which is not included! Be wary because a lot of places in Lisbon do this.

I eat Indian food every opportunity I get wherever I travel. I’ve even cooked it for decades. I’m not saying this to make myself sound like an official reviewer. I’m saying this to establish that I have had some shitty Indian food and some amazing Indian food in my day. This experience was amazing on all levels. I ordered a wide variety of items because I wanted to know how well they did everything. And they did everything very, very well. The basic stuff like Tikka Masala is good, but they really shine with their Biryani, Pani Puri, House Naan, and chutneys. Give it a shot. You’ll pleased. If nothing else, the servers really care that you enjoy your experience, so don’t hesitate to ask them for info or guidance. They’ll provide both without being jerks about it.

After several days of exploring Portuguese cuisine, we decided to switch things up with Indian food. Conveniently, there was a restaurant just a few steps from our hotel. It had been quite some time since I last enjoyed a Rogan Josh, so we ordered that along with Daal Makhani, Jeera Rice, and a plain naan. The curries were wonderfully aromatic and flavourful, though the Rogan Josh initially turned out too salty for my liking. Perhaps it suited the local Portuguese palate, but I found it a little overwhelming. Thankfully, the waiter was very understanding and replaced it with a new serving, this time perfectly balanced and seasoned just right. It matched my taste . The staff were genuinely friendly, the service attentive, and the prices very reasonable. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I would certainly return for another meal.

A wonderful restaurant with delicious food, great service and a recently completed beautiful refresh of the dining room. The creamy sheep’s milk cheese is always delicious starter. Of course you can’t go wrong with any fish entree - every one we have tried has been amazing. And don’t skip dessert! This time we tried the 70% chocolate mousse and it was heavenly. Whether you are staying at Hotel Tivoli or not, add this to your list of restaurants to try in Lisbon!

One of the best beef steaks I’ve ever had. If you come here, order the Cervejaria-style beef tenderloin — it’s stellar! The grilled cod was also good, as was the sheep cheese starter — very rich and creamy.

This is an elegant graceful restaurant resides in Tivoli Avenida Lisboa hotel (we stayed here too) There is a big lively lobster tank and selection fresh fish and shrimp on display as you walking into the gorgeous dining room full of Tiffany style lightings. The Portuguese gambas and Pica Pau beef were absolutely flavorful and tasteful. Their service was warm and attentive.

Dino & ana Maria are the best! Made us feel so welcomed & accommodated all our requests. Definitely made our first time in Lisbon very memorable!

A timeless Lisbon gem inside Hotel Tivoli — part brasserie, part hidden palace. Velvet booths, soft light, and that iconic zodiac tapestry set the mood. Highlights? Silky presunto, grilled prawns, rich seafood rice, and tableside steak tartare. Don’t skip the chocolate mousse. Elegant, nostalgic, and effortlessly classic.
Stephi — Google review
We have visited this restaurant several times, usually for the business lunch, which offers good value. This time, we decided to come for a Sunday lunch, and the service was extremely slow. We ordered a few starters: veal croquettes, shrimp rissoles, tempura fried bean, and steak tartar. They were good, although the tartar, which is usually served with special toasted bread, was missing that today. For main dishes, we had pork, seafood bread stew, and lamb chops, but they were all very uninspiring. The gold chocolate and caramel mille-feuille was good. Overall, the prices were very high for what we received.

Portuguese restaurant
Nestled in the underground charm of Saldanha, O Funil 1971 Restaurante Cozinha Tradicional Portuguesa offers a delightful escape into authentic Portuguese cuisine. With its classic decor and inviting atmosphere, this gem is perfect for locals and visitors alike. Diners rave about the freshness and seasoning of their dishes, from flavorful grilled salmon to succulent rabbit served with onions that create a harmonious blend. The octopus rice is another highlight, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality at reasonable prices.
A really nice, locals-only feeling Portuguese restaurant. The food was incredibly fresh and well seasoned. The staff were attentive and kind as we practiced our Portuguese. We had the grilled salmon (wow! Flavorful and tender), the rabbit (unexpected and succulent, yes, those are onions but it all works), apple tart, and coffees. We will be back to share this gem with friends and family. Thank you!

On the surface, this restaurant looks like a great place to try some traditional Portuguese food in a modern and slightly more upmarket environment than your average traditional restaurant. However, the food for me was a bit of a letdown. The dish I ordered was overcooked and over salted. I was expecting a tender juicy piece of meat but ended up with with something a little hard and dry. Two of the four pieces also had so much salt I needed to wash it down with a drink. The restaurant gets kind of busy but notably no customers appeared to be Portuguese. So if you're after good Portuguese food you're better off looking elsewhere.

Good location. Food was ok in terms of portion size compared to the price. Only thing I can mention is that the waitress even though was very nice, as it interacts with the customers should know a bit more portuguese. I had to interact in english in order to be able to pass the message. Leite creme, had a good sugar crust was under it was to liquid..... not sure if it was that batch..... In geral all very friendly

Had a great meal here with the family. Very casual. The veal with rice from the pot was amazing as were the clams with spaghetti. Great wine and friendly service

Amazing service and great food - cant fault this place, great ambiance and wine too, all for a reasonable price 🤩 We had prawns and fishcakes to start, then a whole seabream with veg to share between two. Dessert was almond pie 🙌🏽

The best meal I have had in days (granted before I was in Spain). Still this place is an amazing find! Our server was unbeatable, he gave us wine suggestions and also told us places to see while we are here visiting :)) Def give it a try, literally have no cons to post. Go and enjoy 😊

Good Portuguese food at reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Had the octopus rice which was tasty. There was a slight miscommunication for one of our dishes (got bread soup instead of pasta) but the soup was still tasty and the owner offered to swap it out for the correct dish.

With its elegant decor reminiscent of upscale dining experiences found in India and London, Zaafran offers a stylish ambiance perfect for enjoying halal-certified dishes. The attentive service enhances the overall experience, making it an ideal spot for both casual diners and those seeking a refined meal.
One of the best Indian cuisine meals I have ever had. The owner chose the dishes for us. We liked them all. The shrimp with curry and coconut milk was my first time and it was delicious. The owner and team were very nice and helpful. Highly recommended if you are looking for Indian food or halal food.

Amazing dinner experience! We went for their Mozambican dishes, the manager was very friendly, made good recommendations! The chamusas are delicious, full of filling and their dipping sauces are a highlight. For the main course the Coconut Shrimp Curry is light and tasteful. The Ponta de Ouro shrimps are also very delicious, although a small portion. Wine is good and affordable, a place to definitely return!

One of the best Indian meals I’ve ever had. I normally order the palak paneer (spinach cheese) at Indian restaurants and this is one of the best I’ve had. You can still see the shape of the spinach so it had the perfect texture and taste. Also, first Indian restaurant I’ve been where they explained the sauces and how to layer the flavors which made the meal so much better. Restaurant professional quality with homemade taste. Also, rice came with my curry! This almost always is at a separate cost. Thank you for making my meal so nice! Totally will be back.

Didn't like the baigan bharta and smell was coming. Probably not freshly prepared. Remaining good..Indian restaurant without any Indian vibe. There are few more good Indian restaurants...try those.

Real Authentic Indian cuisine. Wide varieties to choose from. The food tasts so good. The service was not the best, lack of experience. There were very, very few flies in the restaurant. Moderate price range.

I went there for my lunch. I found them fresh and corporate-friendly. Apart from everything the price seems a little high. However, individual Thali was worth to have. Their coconut shrimp was mouthwatering. Not only that, their butter nun was very light. I’ll try several times from them.

cheese and garlic bread is really good. the bread is thin, the garlic flavor is not too strong. i liked the shrimp, the chicken and the brown one with bean curd in it. i also had their lassi. it was my second time coming here, missed the bread and the lassi.

Tried out this Indian restaurant in Saldanha area. The shop is located strategically and quite eye catching. Went there on a sunday dinner and it was quite packed by locals & tourists. They also have seating areas both indoor & outdoor. For dinner tried out the garlic naan and prawn curry. The garlic naan was done well, it has a nice buttery aroma & taste but can amped up more on the garlic. The prawn curry for me is similar to the prawn masala i normally get back home. And it was delicious just as expected!! The prawns are a lot and easily shareable. It also comes with a side of steamed rice. For the dessert, got the pistachio kulfi. It was a bit mild on the pistachio taste but overall ok. For the drink, of course mango lassi is a must. It taste fresh & creamy.

Maçã Verde, located near Santa Apollonia in Lisbon, is a beloved eatery known for its traditional Portuguese cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. This family-managed restaurant has become an institution in the area, offering generous portions of home-style food at affordable prices. The menu features fresh fish, great grill options, and fantastic fruit salads. Locals frequent Maçã Verde for its grilled fish and meats, with the choco assado being a house specialty not to be missed.
A “locals” restaurant for sure. Amazing service! Great portugués food. Sardines were awesome as was the sea bass. The vegetable soup was also delicious! Staff were very nice.

A family-run neighborhood gem — a hidden treasure. The food was truly excellent, and the people were kind and welcoming. I was staying at a nearby hotel and ended up visiting twice. One time I had the cod dish, and the other time, grilled sardines — both were absolutely delicious. It genuinely felt like they used high-quality ingredients and cooked with care. Although the servers didn’t speak English, communication was smooth and the experience was enjoyable nonetheless.

Ate a late lunch at this location after a recommendation from Pedro of Free Bike Tours Lisbon. The food was amazing and prices were very reasonble. The seafood was fresh and I noticed many locals ate here which is a great sign that this is a good place. I highly recommend the cuttlefish and cod dishes.

Ok 4.6does no justice to this hiden gem !! This is a 5 star experience all the way. Its like youve been invited into a families home with the best food. The fresh fish at the door is what you choose to eat off the menu of the day . The fish is that fresh. Locals eat here !!! Says it all for a portugese restaurant in portugal . The lady beside us helped and recomended some black pepper to augment the house special cuttlefish. Which is highly recomended. We had the small white fish with tomato rice as well . The house white wine is very nice as well and enhances the seafood. A great vibe and lovely food excellent and helpful staff. 6 stars if i could. But beyond that highly recomended

This little restaurant was recommended by our tour guide, Pedro. I’m so glad he suggested it. We went for lunch and it was crowded with local folks. The menu was in Portuguese, but our server brought another menu that explained each item in several languages. I chose grilled grouper and my husband chose the cuttlefish special. The grouper was just about the best fish I have ever had, and my husband really liked the cuttlefish too. You may have to wait at this restaurant, but it will be worth it.

Oven Lisboa is a unique restaurant located in the Baixa area of Lisbon. The name 'Oven' refers to the traditional tandoor oven used in Indian and Nepalese cuisine, which is a one-of-a-kind clay and copper oven specially created for this restaurant. The chef at Oven Lisboa offers an exceptional culinary experience, blending flavors from India and Nepal.
The prawns with Nepalese lentils surprised with a deliciously fresh, fruity, yet warm, earthy flavor. I've never tasted a similar flavor in a main course before. Dried mango could have been an ingredient. Simply delicious, or as the very friendly server put it: "This is a comfort meal." Overall, the service was very attentive, warm, and professional. We were so wonderfully looked after that we quickly forgot we had been seated right in front of the door. We recommend the Spheres and two other small dishes for starters, and the "Everest Lava" for dessert. The atmosphere was informal and relaxed. Thank you so much!

We were thoroughly surprised. The food was amazing and the service was great. Really wanted to go visit a second time, but we will have to return again. All of the dishes were well made and tender. The dessert was also really nice and well done. All the food is made fresh and you can see them making naan in the window. Definitly recommend the paneer, chicken sekuwa, Himalayan rose curry and the Everest lava!

We came upon the restaurant by chance but we were so fortunate that we did. From the time we were seated to the time we paid our bill the staff were friendly, helpful and very attentive. Thank you for making our dinner so memorable!

Felt slightly odd going for Indian styled food while away from the UK, but not in India. But would highly recommend it, service is very good, lighthearted and personable, the food is very very good. Probably one of our, if not our best meal in Lisbon.
Kevin G — Google review
This was easily the best Indian/Nepalese food I have eaten and one of my favourite restaurant experiences of all time. The main courses were very flavourful and the starters (especially reccomend the garlic naan) were very tasty. We also had dessert which was quite interesting, but tasty nonetheless. The service was very fast with multiple waiters coming to check if everything is okay a couple of times (even the chef came out at one point). Genuinely nice staff and a very pleasant atmosphere. I absolutely reccomend this place to anyone visiting Lisbon.
Anja D — Google review
We loved our experience here. The atmosphere was moody and comfortable. There is a transparent window to the kitchen where we could see the head chef cooking in the tandoor oven itself! The food and cocktails were both very good. It was pricey but we thought it was worth it. The service was attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend

The food was incredible! Best tandoori chicken ever and unlike the standard version you get most places in the world. Delicious tandoori rack of lamb chop, veggie biryani, garlic chili shrimp, and yummy homemade garlic naan. We went back twice, because it was so wonderful. I had planned to take photos of everything to share, but only made it as far as the shrimp appetizer. When the main dishes arrived, it all looked so good, I completely forgot! Hee hee.

Visited this place as part of a food tour, lovely local place with a deep historic insight. We were introduced to the BEST samosas in town, and they did not disappoint. They were spicy though, and the owner has his own peri peri sauce that has a real kick! Bebinca cake is amazing too, apparently it took them a whole day to make one. Too excited for food, we forgot to take pictures! We met the owner who was super hospitable and friendly, and he shared many stories about his journey. This was the worst experience of my life! At the "food to go" you need to take a number and wait until you can place an order, my number was 913. I showed it to the employee several times, and she just looked away from me and served people with numbers 914,915,916,917… . I showed her my number 3 times! After I started explaining that things were going wrong and I was waiting for 20 minutes while they served those who came after me, the seller said that another seller served me, and he himself began to serve number 918. I have never felt like this in a store. They just looked away from me, as if something was wrong with me! I would give her a zero

Great grocery store. Has quite a good selection of products. Not the biggest but good enough!:)
Jasmine — Google review
The store has a great selection of fresh groceries at reasonable prices, especially compared to eating out in Lisbon. I was able to get a liter of fresh orange juice, sparkling water, and seafood patties for just 6.5 euros, which is a much better deal than restaurants or delivery. The self-checkout process was smooth, and one of the older ladies at the self check out was kind and helpful when I needed assistance. However, my experience at the deli counter was unpleasant. A tall, younger Black woman working there was very aggressive telling me I couldn't pay at the counter, even though I had taken the seafood patties from that section. She waited until I lined up to the counter and then aggressively pointed at me and said I can't pay here. Her attitude felt unnecessary, especially compared to the other staff who were polite and professional. Overall, a solid place to shop for groceries, but some staff could improve their customer service.

From the moment we stepped inside, we had a feeling we were in for something special, but nothing could have prepared us for the 6-course tasting menu that followed. Each dish that landed on the table was thoughtful and soulful, the kind of food that makes you slow down, take notice, and forget what you were saying mid-bite. There was creativity, yes, but also a deep understanding of flavor and balance. The result? A truly elevated culinary experience. Our lovely server guided us through each course with warmth and confidence, pairing the menu perfectly with a bottle of Nicolau de Almeida Ronfe 2023 VINHO BRANCO, a wine so vibrant and nuanced, we’re still thinking about it days later. Pigmeu doesn’t just serve food, it tells stories. Quietly confident, deeply soulful stories told through pork in all its inventive forms, local produce elevated without ego, and flavors that make you pause mid-sentence. Lisbon’s culinary scene is bursting, but Pigmeu is that rare spot where you leave feeling not just full… but grateful.

Chutnify Principe Real is a small Indian restaurant located in the upscale neighborhood of Principle Real, known for its 19th-century mansions and vibrant atmosphere. The menu offers classic Indian dishes with bold flavors and a focus on healthy southern Indian cuisine such as chaat, pani puri, and dosas. The restaurant stands out with its groovy-designed space and also serves gourmet burgers.
Lived in Singapore for 7 years and ate Indian food almost every day, and so far, this restaurant is the best Indian I tried in Lisboa. Very authentic flavors that transport you to Asia. Everything we tried was delicious! Great cocktails inspired by Indian flavors.
Guillermo M — Google review
Chutnify offers a good mix of South Indian flavors along with other Indian dishes. We tried the Masala Dosa, which was decent, though the dosa options were quite limited—only plain and masala dosa were available. Expanding the dosa varieties would definitely improve the experience for South Indian food lovers. The Chili Garlic Prawn was the highlight, packed with great flavors, while the Chicken 65 was also enjoyable. The Chicken Biryani was well-prepared and flavorful. The restaurant’s ambience and decor are quite nice, with an inviting Indian-themed setup. The staff was friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. One downside was the limited dosa selection, which could be expanded to include more varieties. However, if you’re looking for a good Indian meal in Lisbon with a nice atmosphere,it will be a decent choice.

Lovely little place in Lisboa. A friend recommended it and we enjoyed the food. The food was well spiced. Beer could be colder. Service was great. It is expensive coming from London as we have a great variety of good Indian restaurants. Like the open kitchen vibe.
Kiren L — Google review
The food was very good, and there were a lot of options on the menu! Only reason I give it 4 stars is because it was a little expensive, and it a slightly inconvenient location to get to. I wouldn’t go again for those reasons, but still very good food, vibe, and staff.
Ylva B — Google review
The service was great, for sure. The food, I would say with the starters we were lucky to have a super tasty dish, the mushrooms were amazing. For the main, we had chicken tikka and another vegetarian dish, and to me that seemed pretty bland - quite the disappointment really. The desert was great, loved it. I understand the Portuguese are a bit more fragile and don't understand proper Indian food, which is extremely tasty and flavoursome, we came to experience proper Indian food, and instead the mains seemed like a dumbed down version lacking flavour. I would give this place a second chance, for sure, and only because the starters and the service were so good. Dumbing down your dishes to make it more attractive to the 'locals' didn't seem to have worked the trick and attract more Portuguese, maybe if you helped the locals and those more experienced with flavours better match the right dishes to their capacity to enjoy flavour, then you would have a more successful customer base and busier restaurant.

If the 3 different appetizers were amazing, I can only imaging the main dishes. Also had a glass of wine which was also great.

Such a delightful and delicious nook with the feeling of a home cooked Goan meal and like you stepped into a loving home with simple and delicious food. There were 3 vegetarian options but plenty of Vegetarian appetizers and no shortage of items for a full belly.

Awesome goan good very close to what you get back in Goa! The lentil curry with rice felt like a warm hug and Sorputel was great as well very authentic. The staff was very very friendly and very accommodating. On top of all the awesome food and great service this place had the world’s best dessert Bebinca , the one we ate here was better than what we get in Goa and we all just loved it. It’s not on the menu I think but do ask for it. I would definitely recommend this place to someone who wants to give Goan food a try and for its homely cozy vibes! Tip: Needs reservation so check before you go and it’s cash only

Fantastic Goan food. The vindaloo was unlike any I’ve had before. The brandy gives a much more developed tartness than straight vinegar, and I caught a surprising flavor of black cardamom, this rarely appears in western Indian food. The heat is intense and warm but not sharp. I can’t wait to try more dishes!

Amazing Goan food with a cozy atmosphere. We came here with a group of people and we had a wonderful night. The vegetarian curry was delicious.

Very delicious food and friendly service. Unique Goan flavours. I wish portions were a bit larger for the amount of food. I do appreciate the family-owned feel of the restaurant, very cozy.

Enjoyed our experience at Cantinho da Paz in Lisbon. The Goan food was authentic and delicious. We ordered prawn curry with coconut milk, baby shark ambot tik curry and veal xacuti. They were all amazing

What a lovely little treasure, this restaurant. It only has about 8 or 9 tables and one person in the kitchen and one waiting the tables. Their food is based on the Goa traditions (a former Portuguese colony) and contains a lot of delicious curries. Ps: When we were there they had no creditcard machine, so bring some cash with you.

Restaurante O Paco is a Portuguese restaurant located in Lisbon, offering a variety of dishes from meat to fish and seafood. The restaurant is known for its practical and attentive service, with reasonable prices. Guests have enjoyed the grilled octopus, sweet potatoes, steak with potatoes, and cozido a portuguesa. The lunch menu is highly recommended for its value at 12.5. Visitors have also praised the tasty shrimps and meat dishes served at the restaurant.
We had an absolutely overwhelming evening in this from the outside not very shiny restaurant. Thanks to the best service team of two guys from Brazil all of us were happy through the evening. The food was absolutely amazing and the value was definitely great as well. Next time in Lisbon we will be here for sure. See you next time O Paco-Team!

This was our last dinner in Portugal before returning home to Toronto Canada. We enjoyed the grilled octopus and sweet potatoes and the steak with potatoes. Enjoyed dinner with a litre of Sangria. This was one of the best dinners during our entire trip.

I was looking for authentic Portuguese food and found this place down the street. They offered a menu in English for those who can’t yet speak the language (me). I ordered the Arroz de Marisco which is a rich seafood stew that's made up of fish and rice. It's a Portuguese favorite, and one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Gastronomy. Some people say it's like a Spanish paella, but it's very different due to the amount of sauce. I recommend getting some bread to soak up the delicious sauce and a white wine. I was a little nervous to order seafood because I am a bit touchy with fishy tasting food. This dish was outstanding! I would highly recommend trying it. While the cost was a bit higher than what I normally spend, it was worth it especially considering the friendly and stellar service.

Worst food experience in Lisbon ... Thought their fish and sea food is fresh, they put soooooo much coriander in everything that you can't even taste the real flavour. Otherwise the food is nice and fresh just if you don't like the taste of the coriander ask them to remove it from the dish. And also for the staff at the restaurant - ask people for the coriander please!

Segredos de Goa is a hidden gem in the heart of Campo de Ourique, Lisbon. It's a favorite among locals who appreciate spicy flavors and beautiful dishes like stuffed fish, sarapatel, pork vindaloo, and bebinca. The restaurant offers excellent Indian cuisine at reasonable prices and has a friendly and chill atmosphere. The menu features familiar items like chamuca (samosa), vindalho (vindaloo), and thali.
Small local Goan restaurant with a great menu full of Goan specialties. We had bojés, coriander chutney, paparis, crab xec-xec, vindalho and balchão, and it was all delicious. It became one of my favorites in Lisbon!

The most amazing meal I had while visiting Lisbon. The service was impeccable. Our server explained the different dishes to us in English and offered recommendations. We were blown away by the unique flavors and careful preparation. They make their coconut milk from scratch, and it shows. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting Lisbon, particularly those who are interested in Portugal's history.

Great little Goan style eatery in Campo de Ourique. The service was super friendly and kind. The food was good and the atmosphere was really chill - we sat outside. There are some typical Goan style dishes and some more Fusion but the flavors are good.

Had high hopes…but… Under cooked rice and sold as basmati but was clearly not. Frozen veggies sold as “fresh”. Curries were gritty and not cooked enough. Asked for glass of wine and was told “oh sorry, only a bottle”, so had to buy a bottle when only wanted a glass after it was poured and tasted, which was warm and honestly should have been sent back. Payment came and was told “cash only” even though no signage of “no cards”…contribute and pay your taxes. We are very forgiving as we are in the service industry but very disappointed with this establishment.

The shrimps here were some of the best I’ve had this year, and the rest of the food was absolutely wonderful too!
Rosa L — Google review
I think the recent reviewer was referring to a different location (the address / description in her review does not match the address/location of this location in campo de ourique). The food here is rather bland (Maybe to appeal to local palates, but not authentic at all), and as another reviewer noted, some of the dishes are cool / cold in the middle. The only way that’s possible is if the food was pre-prepared in the preceding day(s) and refrigerated overnight…then partially reheated before serving. Gross, especially with shrimp and chicken. Save your euros and walk over to the best Indian restaurant, Natraj, closer to Rato metro. Your money will stretch farther, and the food is orders of magnitude better.

Nice and super tasty restaurant, with extremely friendly personnel - he suggested us the best dishes! It’s a small place, full of flavors and good food!
Diego B — Google review
I really wanted to like this place, because it’s in my neighborhood. However, I won’t be going back. I had an appetizer, two small dishes, and a beer. The meal was over €30. I think, for a modest charge, almost every Asian restaurant should offer steamed rice or some sort of bread to go along with a curry. But this restaurant said they had no chapati/naan available (at opening time on a Saturday night) and the only rice that could be ordered was a full-on biryani-type main dish. No simple basmati rice on the side. So their lack of having either chapati or basmati rice forced me to order two “main” dishes. I chose shrimp as my protein for both. The first dish, the camarões segredos de goa, had I think 6 almost-cold shrimp in a thick coconut-milk curried gravy with onions and flavors of ginger. It was tasty, but it was the size of an appetizer…and the barely room-temperature shrimp was off-putting. None of the shrimp was “deveined”, so you got to see the intestinal tracts in all their jet-black glory. Also, the shrimp were definitely pre-cooked solo and kept in the fridge, with the tepid curry gravy poured over it. Opportunities for flavor were lost. The second “main” was a biryani. This one had eight shrimp atop cool rice fried with what tasted and looked and tasted like barely-thawed frozen vegetables, sesame seeds, some pieces of chilis, and spices like cinnamon. Again, the shrimp were lukewarm-to-cool, cooked (at some point, long before I walked into the restaurant) separate from the biryani, with their intestinal tracts on full display. This was my least favorite of any rice dish I’ve ever eaten in my life. The meal was just really sad; no love on this plate. When I think of the flavorsome feast I could have had elsewhere for over €30, it makes me feel even more disappointed. 😖 I was right across from the famous Mercado de Campo de Ourique, with all its food stalls; I should have dined there instead. There were too many things wrong with this experience for me to believe it was just an off-night. I hereby affirm that I will never return to Segredos under any circumstances.

Casa Mocambo, established in 2016, is a multifaceted establishment that combines a restaurant, bar, and art gallery. It pays homage to the African spirit and the fusion of various African cultures with Portuguese influences. The menu features a blend of pan-African dishes and Portuguese cuisine. Guests can savor delectable flavors from former Portuguese colonies and enjoy live music performances while indulging in dishes like moqueca and Goa chicken curry.
Walked to this homey restaurant close to the neighborhood we were staying in Lisbon after looking for something vegetarian besides cheese and bread! Delicious dish prepared fresh for me, with beans and vegetables. The cassava fries were also delicious! My friend had an octopus dish, but kept eating off my plate and reporting that it was also delicious to her! Highly recommend for vegetarian and non-vegetarians. They do not accept card, or at least not while we were there. There was a crowd and only one waiter after we arrived, so we did never get our dessert, but we weren't charged and they were very understanding when we said we needed to leave. Staff were able to understand our questions, if not have a full conversation in English. If we were in Lisbon longer, we definitely would eat here again!

This place is very lively and has an incredible atmosphere and great service. The location gives you the perfect street feel in Graça. The only thing to be mindful of is that whilst the food is delicious, it's very hit and miss with portion sizes and pricing.

It's a small place so the music can get too loud inside for conversations. But, there is outside seating available. The food was plentiful and delicious with an added dash or two of piri piri. The sangria was good and the prices were affordable. We'll definitely return!
Welcome P — Google review
The food is average good, not as tasty as it could be, some ingredients are missing and the amount of them is quite short. The service is average since the orders are performed, but with frowns from the staff. The atmosphere is great, has music playing on the music box and somedays there's live music as well.
Pedro E — Google review
The food is really good but the service couldn't be any worst and the terrible live music made my visit first=last.
Karolina A — Google review
Astoundingly savory flavors from the former Portuguese colonies. Choose whatever is on offer from the prix fixe menu of the day -- very fresh. Use potted house pepper paste VERY sparingly. Addictingly, explosively flavorful! Definitely finish with the mousse -- cold cream clouds of passion fruit or mango the night we were there. There was also live music the night we went -- a woman with a silky alto & nimble guitar fingers -- perfect for the space.
Kay C — Google review
The food is delicious and the live music take you away. This place is the real deal! The staff is so friendly and warm and everyone is just enjoying each other’s company. This is a place that brings people together. We live around the corner and I come here whenever I can.

If you want to visit make sure to make reservation online (if you dont speak portugese dont try to make reservation by phone). Ordered two meals, shrimp with pork and mocambo (vegan dish) for my girlfriend. Before the staff even took our order we waited like 30 minutes. Then another 30-40 minutes for the food to arrive. The shrimp with pork was really forgetable and tasteless, mocambo was a tasty dish for vegan customers. When they give you the menu there is said WE DONT ACCEPT CARDS and that there is an atm down the road which didint even work. Then you notice that other customers actually pay by card so IT IS POSSIBLE to pay by CARD. However be ready to get charged extra for listening to the live music when there is an event.

A new dim sum restaurant, Aura Dim Sum Lab, has just opened in Lisbon. The restaurant is located in the old town of Alfama and is run by Catarina and Jose, who had previously opened the first dim sum bar in Brazil. Due to Covid (the Portuguese version of Starbucks) opening up near the restaurant, Catarina and Jose were forced to relocate but are now reaping the rewards of their hard work with a sleek and popular restaurant.
My wife and I followed friends' recommendations for Aura. They were spot on. We arrived at 2000 on a Friday night. The place was sparsely crowded, but it got packed by 2030. Despite being full and being seated right under a music speaker, the excellent acoustics allowed for easy conversation. The atmosphere was fantastic. We ordered 3 dumplings: steamed crab, pork buns, and steamed lamb. My wife loved the crab so much that she ordered a shrimp one, too. It lived up to the hype. The prices are a bit on the high side, at almost 10 euro per dish. But they're worth it. We had the tapioca mango (replaced by banana) for dessert. It was too mild for my sweet tooth, but it was great for my wife.
Eyal S — Google review
Fantastic modern dumpling restaurant with an excellent, exotic and wide assortment of dumplings. Well worth it. Nicely decorated and comfortable cozy interior, which is not always the case in Alfama. We loved the Seafood Bao Bun pan fried dumplings which came with a delicious sauce, the Chinese Pearl Meatball Dumplings with Sticky Rice and the Chilli Crab and Chicken dumplings. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.

One of the few places in Lisbon that offers amazing quality food for reasonable prices. The prawn sesame toast and sesame ice cream were out of this world. Service was great and we had a cozy table looking out on the street. We will 100% be back!

Everything was delicious and not heavy, fulfilling the ideal definition of dim sum. Traditional dishes were modified for modern ingredients and taste. Simple presentation, nothing fancy like JNçQuoi Asia. Our server was very nice and explained the various items' portions and preparation. Turns out he was a former Nepalese basketball pro. The chef was also very nice.

Madie H — Google review
So this place is top rated and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. The dim sum was not good, the flavors were just ok, it really tasted like it was just frozen and steamed/sauteed/whatever. Did not feel properly crafted or like it was homemade. Not to mention it’s also SO OVERPRICED. I recommend to not go here, the service was fine, and the space is really cool looking, but overall it isn’t worth it.

Hamburger restaurant
Nestled in the charming Ajuda neighborhood, Holy Grail Burger is a delightful artisanal burger joint that captures the essence of Lisbon's rich history with its medieval-themed decor. The creative chef, Jesus, showcases his culinary flair through unique offerings like the Holy Burger—a small yet flavorful delight topped with a perfectly poached egg that bursts with umami goodness. This cozy spot offers an inviting atmosphere where you can relax and savor your meal without feeling rushed.
Absolutely delicious. For starters we had mozzarella croquettes and onion rings with dips, their tomato dip is particularly good. For the mains we had the Holy Grail burger and the Camelot burger, these were absolutely fantastic, so much so that I couldn't finish my fries. I was full. For drinks we had coffee and a pint and a half of the house beer. I don't usually drink, but this beer was very moreish, and far too easy to drink. Couldn't manage to fit a dessert in, so I think we'll be visiting again just to try their dessert. The staff are really friendly, attentive and polite. They even helped me out with my Portuguese pronunciations (I'm English trying to learn Portuguese) and they gave my wife a placemat to take home because she loved the design. The little details such as the placemats, the leather bound menus made to look like old books (printed in several languages) and the little chest that the bill comes in are great touches which makes it stand out. If you are visiting Lisbon or Belem, this place is worth a visit. And, if you do visit Holy Grail, say hello to Antonio (Tony) he is an amazing host.
Danny W — Google review
Artisanal Burger restaurant with a medieval theme that blends in with the historical landmarks in the vicinity. Visited Holy Grail Burger while on a spree of visiting local historical monuments and museums located around the Ajuda area and decided to stop by for lunch. The menus are acceptably priced and aren't too expensive considering the usual pricing for these types of restaurants (the location outside the center of the city may explain that). The food is well crafted and tasted rather delicious. The serving sizes are on the small side but considering the pricing, i didn't find them underwhelming or unreasonable. I ordered the signature 'Holy Grail Burger' (pictured below) and was satisfied with the presentation and the taste of the dish, altough i wish they would up the actual meat serving size (it's like a 'mini-burger'!). To finish i ordered their 'Santinho' dessert (most expensive option at 5,90€) and was (again) presented with an underwhelming dish when it came to the serving size but with a pleasing presentation and good taste. Given the food's quality, the creativity of their medieval theme/gimmick and the craftsmanship of their dishes, Holy Grail is a solid and rewarding choice for a burger fan with the added bonus of building up on the experience of anyone visiting the areas historical landmarks.

Adega das Gravatas is a hidden gem located in Benfica, away from the touristy areas of Lisbon. This century-old restaurant is known for its traditional Portuguese dishes, including fish and meat specialties. The unique decor features an abundance of colorful ties hanging from the walls and ceiling, creating a distinct ambiance. Originally a tavern transformed into a restaurant in 1940, it has retained its local charm over the years.
Walked in on a Friday night at 8:30pm and was shocked how packed it was with locals and how loud and lively it was. It was so quiet on the streets that it was so unexpected. Furthermore, we were super lucky they accommodated us without reservation. Food was very delicious and portions were very generous for the price point. Their service did not lack even though there was a language barrier - they didn't really speak English but it did not matter. I definitely recommend this restaurant! I can't wait to go back for more!
Gwen C — Google review
The food was awesome, the atmosphere, loud as all tables were full. (You have to make a reservation to get a table) I would definitely recommend it. The only downside for me was one of the staff (a lady) who refused me entry to use the restroom in the freezing cold because they hadn't opened to customers yet. This was 6.50pm (They open 7 pm) That already put me off, as I think that is horrible customer service for a customer who had a reservation. Asides that, the food was awesome.

A very authentic Portuguese restaurant with whole octopus being a popular dish! It's also hard to find yet very busy. The house wine is good. The service is good, but English is not a strength. The placemate has pictures to help.

I was a bit disappointed with the Sangria but it was still good and I’m sure it’s nothing and they can make a great one. I love doing drinks myself. The portions are really big, no way you’ll be hungry after a meal in this restaurant. Very busy as well so you need to book in advance and make sure you only arrive 5min late max. They are strict with that. Overall loved the experience so 5 stars deserved.

Go A Lisboa Rooftop - Restaurant & Bar, located at Casa da Goa in Lisbon, has been transformed by chef Inga Martin into a vibrant space with an all-day menu. The entrance may be unassuming, but the stunning view and welcoming staff make for an impressive experience. The restaurant offers a great atmosphere with heaters for chilly evenings and a nice selection of food and drinks.
Had a wonderful evening with great atmosphere, food, drinks and company in this lovely roof top restaurant - you should go! Easy process to book via the website, arrived at a perfect time to enjoy the evening sun into night-time. A really good mix of people and seating areas. The large area near the window looking out to the city is lovely, beach vibes, but has low beanbag type seating, they're much classier than beanbags and look comfy, but they are low, with low tables to accompany, which might not be suitable for some people. We were sat at a long table (and kept switching sides so we could appreciate the view!). Food was great and presented nicely. In our group we had the sharing breads, olives, humous, steak, fish, pork belly and vegan burger, so all were happy! Also desserts were great (vegan cheesecake too!) Good variety of drinks (all very reasonably priced). Nice cocktails. Staff were really friendly and service was good. Would 100% recommend this to everyone for a lovely evening with family or friends.

If you were blinded by the open space and great view on a beautiful sunny day then it was possible that you would have enjoyed this place. Starting with the staff. They aren’t there to work, they are there to socialize with each other. Seating incoming guests and serving tables is NOT their priority. It took a long time to get anyone’s attention and the table next to waited so long after requesting help twice that they got frustrated and left. The lounge area is dirty. The couches are cigarette burnt. The poufs and extremely dirty and aren’t very comfortable to sit on. Food was okay if you got the curry. Everything else we had was BAD including the rice that was served with the curry. Pro tip if you end up eating here, order a sauce it’ll save your dish. Nice patio could be SUPER cool but they need to work out their other issues.

Beautiful and relaxed rooftop bar. Packed with beautiful people. Feels much less touristic than other rooftops, which I like. Food and drink are not overpriced either. Great view and ambiance. Drinks were nice and food was really good. The burger especially. The service was a bit slow; nonetheless, I recommend this rooftop tapas place for a bite and the view.

The place at the roof top looks amazing. There are wide tables, wide area. Waiters also have mics to communicate with other waiters. Scan the QR code to see the menu as well as pay the bill. They also have a water shower kind of thing to keep the customers cool. Also a trampoline to sit and relax. It is basically dual themed restaurant. One part is covered with net(along with water showers) and the other one is under open sky. Service time is long and order takes 20 min to arrive. The food was okish. They screwed up our orders too. The price doesn’t justify the taste.

Sardinha is a charming restaurant in Lisbon that offers an amazing dining experience. The grilled sardines are particularly noteworthy, reminiscent of the ones enjoyed in Algiers. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, with a mix of locals and tourists enjoying authentic Portuguese cuisine. The service is excellent, and the portions are generous for the price. While the owner may not speak English or Spanish, the warm hospitality shines through.
I have been trying to have the full on Portuguese experience that I have been living in Lisbon for over two years now. So I asked a Portuguese friend of mine to recommend a Tasca that’s value for money but has great food. Well my friend didn’t let me down! This place was great. No thrills but the local husband wife combo (service and chef) made my time here a great one. The photos of my food might look super basic but it’s one of my favorites under €10 meals I have had since I have been here.

Fantastic sardines and sword fish. Super simple but delicious.the sword fish was juicy with a subtle lemon dressing and the he sardines were the best we had in Lisbon. Service was quick and friendly. A no frills tasca with delicious food and cold beers.

Went for the mixed meat platter which was good. Declined bread ( which is extra )as would of been too much food. Service was friendly. However..... very disappointed with the bill when it had "pastel de bacalo" added to it ! Questioned this and was told it was service! An extra 7e for this, really not sure about that, so left a sour taste , be warned . This spolit what would of been a good lunch .

A true Portuguese gem! 🇵🇹✨ Here, you’ll taste the real Portugal. Fantastic traditional food in a small, cozy, family-run restaurant. The kind of place with real soul that’s hard to find these days. If you’re looking for authentic, home-style dishes made with love in a warm and welcoming atmosphere at an unbeatable price, this is the place to go. The sardines are simply the best I’ve ever had, and the feijoada is one of the finest in all of Portugal! Sr. Duarte and his wife, Dona Alda, run the restaurant entirely on their own, they’re truly wonderful people who make you feel like part of the family. And be understanding and patient if you have to wait for your food, the couple runs the restaurant by themselves and truly does their best. If you’re in Lisbon, don’t miss this genuine experience. Obrigado Sr. Duarte e Dona Alda❤️

Beautiful old Portuguese restaurant, very plesant owner. The baked sardines were an absolutely great gourmet experience. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Local spot run by an older couple. We dined during lunch at a busy time and were told there was no more fish, and only chicken on the menu. The chicken was just very okay and came with two scoops of rice. The gentleman gave us bread which we didn’t ask for and then charged us for the bread AND butter. Overall the experience is of a local one but the food and service are not great.

Jorge d'Amália is a renowned restaurant located in the Ajuda neighborhood, known for serving one of the best bitoques in Lisbon. This classic Portuguese dish features a thin beef steak lightly pan-fried with olive oil and garlic, topped with a fried egg, and served with potato fries, rice, and salad. The restaurant is run by a lovely couple and is popular among locals.
The bitoque is worth your trip to Lisbon, very local authentic Portuguese place. The place I always come every time in Lisboa.

Really cute local cafe place with yummy food. It’s a cash only place. Must try the Lisbon only fried egg on steak. The stock with it is amazing. The owners were absolutely amazing, we arrived 4 min before them closing for lunch, we were lucky to arrive then as others came after us couldn’t come in. Very hearty food. Also love the football wall.
Y M — Google review
Delicious food made by a couple inside a locally owned bar. The clam were delicious and so was the The Bitoque. Kind owner who gave me extra water when asked. The chocolate mousse was very dense and chocolaty instead of the softy and airy you might find some other places. Good prices. When you get there it might be reserved however it is definitly worth the wait.

Very kind owner and staff. Not too big and not too small, just perfect size. Excellent food at very decent prices. And the food quality is excellent and has not changed in years.

An authentic Portuguese restaurant, runs by the lovely couple. I come with empty stomach and back with heavy one and full of joy. I found it randomly on Google and learn that it is very popular among local. It is recommend to call for reservation since the restaurant has fee tables. The menu is simple and costs around 8-12€. All dishes are fresh and very big. I have a great time there and I visit twice during my 4 days in Lisbon. Great vibes great food!!

Real local, authentic touch of Lisbon. Food was delicious and affordable. Recommendation for sausage from the first photo. Lots of Belenenses memorabilia (for football fans).

The most delicious local cuisine we have tried in Lisbon! We went there for two days in a row during our stay, and we will happily return, when we visit the city again. We tried as many as we could of the dishes, and all were finger-licking! Also, don't skip the bread, the sauces are amazing! The owners are awesome too - friendly and welcoming! Don't miss it!

Wow!! This has been one of the best experiences for a long time. It came super unexpected and we stumbled over this place looking for something. We thought we get a local laid back place. It’s much more. The two owners are friendly and relaxed and the food is fantastic yet very affordable. The Bitoque is said to be one of the besr in Lisbon. I believe it. If you are lucky enough to hear about this place, go there!

Restaurant
Sála de João Sá is a restaurant that offers a reflection of global Portugal on the plate, creating an authentic and cozy atmosphere. The culinary approach is strongly influenced by Portuguese journeys and traditional national cuisine, with a focus on fish and seafood. With over 100 wine references, guests can seek assistance from the Sommelier to make their selection. The restaurant specializes in contemporary Portuguese cuisine, featuring fresh seafood and an extensive selection of local wines.
We stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day sight seeing in Lisbon. We asked if they could take us without a reservation. The restaurant was completely full, but they offered us two seats at the bar. This turned out to be the best seat in the house as we got to watch the chef masterfully prepare plates. He graciously shared so much with us from his passion for cooking, inspiration and preparation. Hands down this was one of the BEST dining experiences I've ever had (and I'm a bit of a foodie/food snob coming from the Napa region). ALL of the staff were warm, considerate and attentive. The food knocked our socks off. I can not recommend this restaurant enough. It deserves another Michelin Star and all the accolades. Seriously think "French Laundry" for a fraction of the cost. Although expensive for this region, it was a steal to have this superb dining experience. Please also note that it was NOT pretentious at all. Warm and friendly cuisine that is artistically crafted with extraordinary flavors. Bravo!

This is a must try while in Lisboa. We tried the eight course and got a couple of PHENOMENAL wine recommendations from our server and the Sommelier. Our evening was so enjoyable and our 8pm dinner quickly turned into us leaving after 11pm...we were so pleased and full we tried to cut our dessert courses short since other staff were going home. Our team wouldn't allow it and even allowed us time for an extra birthday course to celebrate our friend. With each course and story behind it we fell more in love with this place. They are dedicated to preserving the waters in which the food comes from and Portugese tradition shines through in each dish. Loved our experience here and highly recommend a visit. Thank you to Chef's and team.
Ryann S — Google review
Our dinner was excellent. We went with the eight course option. Highlights are the lobster and tuna courses, and the octopus course, which was the best octopus preparation we’ve ever had. The desserts were also really fantastic. We can’t recommend the wine pairing enough. Very thoughtful and outstandingly complementary choices that enhanced every dish. We left with a newfound appreciation for Portuguese wine. Service was sharp and precise with a subtle sense of humor. The stories behind each dish were interesting and added to the experience. Very happy to have had this experience.

This was one of the best meals I've ever had! I've been to a few michelin restaurants and this one was top tier. Everything was fresh and inspired by local food and fauna. They are very big on sustainability as well and have an amazing story and video on their outreach. The staff was also excellent, answering all our questions on the food and process. And they helped me celebrate my birthday with a fun surprise at the end! Highly recommend getting reservations here, it's totally worth it!

Fantastic experience. Fantastic service. Fantastic team. Exquisite dishes prepared with great care. Beautiful for the eyes and amazing for the taste. The wine pairing was worth the price and the sommelière at her best. A kind and special thank you to Thais who piloted us through the menu.

The food was exquisite — every dish was amazing, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We truly enjoyed the experience; it was one of the best Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve ever had the pleasure of dining in.
Gadi N — Google review
My wife and I had the full 10+ course and our favourite dish wish the clams that came out in the beginning. We didn’t go with the wine pairing as we don’t like a lot of the sweeter wines. We opted to order our own bottle of local white wine recommended by the sommelier which was great! The service was impeccable from start to finish and atmosphere was warm and cozy. We found most of the dishes a little too salty for our palate, although still tasty and a beautiful presentation. Some of the dishes we found the sauce to be a little overpowering to the seafood. All in all a great experience and glad that we got to try out some new dishes from Lisbon.

Nestled in the heart of Lisbon, Stop do Bairro is a beloved establishment that has been serving up authentic Portuguese cuisine since its inception during the 1974 revolution. Founded by João Sabino, a passionate supporter of Belenenses, this restaurant is adorned with memorabilia that reflects its local roots. The menu boasts mouthwatering dishes like arroz de tamboril (monkfish rice) and cabidela (chicken blood rice), each crafted with care to deliver genuine flavors.
Great spot, famous for the monkfish rice dish. Suberb with a cool white wine. Very good wine list.

English is not very an option here. Traditional Portuguese food, variety of desserts. Packed most of the time. Price is not bad at all. Arroz with shrimp and monkfish for one person pot is €14

It gets two stars because the food was good. It would get minus stars for service if I could give them. I couldn’t figure out whether it was closing time or just before opening based on the waiter’s comment (I don’t speak Portuguese and his English wasn’t great). They gave me a table anyways, which was great until the waiter got waaaay too friendly. Sat down at a table across from me to chat, wanted to know my last name (I declined)...yikes. It’s one thing to be friendly, but for a single girl in an empty restaurant that’s just hella creepy. And for a waiter, hella unprofessional. Ended up eating a few bites of food and having the rest packed up so I could escape. TL;DR: really unfortunate experience, creeped me out, will not go back.

Laranja Tigre is a modern interpretation of Goan cuisine located in Portugal, offering Indian food with a Portuguese twist. The restaurant uses local ingredients and influences to create delicious dishes at reasonable prices. Visitors have praised the quality of the food, such as chicken and vegetable samosas, sweet potato entree, aubergine main dish, and prawn pakora. The friendly service adds to the overall dining experience.
Had 2 samosas, sweet potato puree and prawn curry. all are very delicious. The sweet potato puree is particularly playful as you can put the puree in the empty ball shaped shell and then eat it.

Excellent restaurant! The quality of the food is outstanding. We ordered prawn pakoras, guan wings, soft shell crab, clams, 65 degree eggs in tomato curry and chicken Xacuti. Every dish is delicious. The coconut curry with soft shell crab is especially good. The service is excellent too. We had a wonderful experience.

Central Das Colónias Lda is a charming family-run café nestled in Lisbon's Bairro das Colónias, an area rich with historical significance tied to Portuguese colonialism. Despite its name change to Bairro das Novas Nacoes in 1975, locals still fondly refer to it by its original title. This quaint eatery offers a cozy atmosphere where around 18 guests can enjoy home-cooked meals reminiscent of grandmother’s kitchen.
If you are looking for classic, authentic, local Portuguese food and atmosphere, this is the first place you should go in the neighborhood. Menu changes daily. Marco the waiter is doing a great job and will make sure you are right at home here.

(Translated by Google) This small family café serves home-cooked food just like you would eat at your grandmother's house, that is, the way it is. It seats around 18 people and it seems like the whole neighborhood is there! There is room at the counter to eat soup (today it was beans with vegetables) and the generous codfish pastry. The sauce on the onion steaks was enough to clean the plate. The fries are real (not frozen, which taste like plastic). You can take it home or order it. Excellent. Excelente.
