The taste and atmosphere at the Sapporo Beer Garden were truly excellent. We really enjoyed our time there. One downside, however, was that we were a group of four, and one of us is a vegetarian. We had to order the meat buffet for all four of us and then add a separate seafood dish just for the vegetarian, which was a bit disappointing. Still, it’s definitely worth visiting at least once!

The beer from here on tap tastes much better than the canned Sapporo I'm used to. Good selection of alcoholic beverages even with the cheapest all you can drink option. Food was fantastic, it's set up in a style in which there is a slight grade on the grille so juices from meat being grilled on the center will move down to the sides and infuse with the vegetables cooking on the edges. When you ordered more lamb, pork, chicken, drinks, etc on the tablet provided workers or serving robots will be bringing it to your table within 30-60 seconds. Bags were provided as well to customers to put jackets in if needed to keep them from smelling like smoke, I found it to be far less smokey inside though then other grill your own meat places I've been to in the past.

Not a beer fan, but this was part of our must see list. The 1-hour free tour of the museum was interesting. Learned about Sapporo beer’s humble beginnings & its remarkable journey through the years. Tried the much talked about Genghis Khan meal at the Lilac Hall. Reservation required. Tried booking in for a weekend but they filled out quickly. Ended up with a Monday reservation instead. It was easier for us to take the 88 bus from our hotel as this drove straight to the venue.

This is a review for the restaurant only. I did not go in the museum or shops. Reservation is required, and I could not find out how to book online. You need to call them. It turns out there were different buildings, and I didn't know which one to enter. I gave the host my confirmation number, and he directed me where to go. I opted for the all-you-can-eat for ¥7500 a person and the all-you-can-drink (alcohol) ¥1800. (For soft drinks only, it is ¥800.) There were many cuts of lamb. You place the first order with the server, but the rest of the time you can order via tablet. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The lamb egg roll was surprisingly delicious! At the end of the meal, of course the smoke smell will cling to your hair and clothes. They gave me a plastic bag to cover my belongings and place it in the bin under the seat. After eating, you notify the server that you are ready to pay. Then you bring the slip/clipboard out to the cashier. Credit card accepted. Bathroom available. Wifi - unsure

The Sapporo Beer Garden, Day three First order of the day was to get a pair of replacement shoes, a corn was too demanding & shoes to tight, found an amazing store (Shoe-Plaza) and they had my size, trip saved! Now that I could potter along, the boss suggested we try the Sapporo Beer Garden! Off we went, and once again, driving in Japan is such a pleasure, I wish we had that kind off attitude, courtesy and all in Singapore & Malaysia! But I think there is a fat chance that will ever happen! 😢 The Beer Garden, right next to the Beer Museum, had both inside & outdoor seating, we opted for the outdoors, albeit overcast it was still very comfy! Service was swift, our server spoke decent English helped us with our order (normally they put a pad in your hands & you click & order) The place specialises on Lamb, but beef, seafood & veggies also available, albeit a small selection! You cook yourself, on the grill pretty much the same as Korean BBQ, which is fun & you always have the hottest food to savour! The beer of course was exceptional, perfect for this type of cookery! We had Squid & Prawn for madam, the squid was perfect! Me of course Lamb shoulder sliced, they had the set called Genghis Khan which included veggies, I added the Beef fingers as they called it, plus a baked potato of sorts, with butter, best I had in years! But be aware, only one type of sauce/dip served, had a bit of a teriyaki flavour! Food was good, service perfect, over all ambience Smokie but fun! Value for money for sure! I loved the Genghis Khan grilled lamb—it was tender and flavorful. The all-you-can-eat yakiniku was a great value, and grilling it myself made the experience even more fun. Excellent beer selection, friendly staff, and beautiful brewery-style decor. Highly recommend!

Delicious food at a great price! Got the 2 hrs AYCE course for 4500 yen which came with some entrés and more cuts of meat compared to the 3800 yen course. The entrés were good (I ate some before taking a picture.) The meat was delicious. I enjoyed cooking it, letting it rest in the sauce and then devouring them 😋

The Sapporo Beer Museum is absolutely worth a visit. The tasting set was very fairly priced, and the atmosphere inside was warm and lively without being crowded. Very interesting museum about brewing in Japan with exhibits dated back many years ago! And of course the tasting room is the most popular part of the museum with a lovely beer hall for people to taste different brews. Walking around the museum area is also very nice and if you feel like a bit of shopping there’s a mall right next door too.

Good place to visit as its beside Sapporo factory. The free tour starts at third floor, where you spiral down. Second floor had a few exhibits then you go down to the tasting room where you can sample beer. It gets a bit crowded here. Although its free, many people will also spend at the tasting room for the beer, at the shop (both inside and out) and at the bier garten.

Great place to learn about the history of Sapporo beer! There’s a free self guided tour area with English language cards for each section. There’s also a premium tour that’s paid and has a premium exclusive tour area and has beer tasting included from what I saw. We went in around mid day and the premium tour was already sold out for the day so I would suggest booking ahead. At the ground floor is the tasting area and the gift store. The tasting area had a long line and but it moved fairly quickly. It’s a ticket machine that accepts cash or card. You pay then take your tickets to the drinks counter to get your drinks and snacks and finally find your own table. The gift store sells the same drinks and snacks for you to take home. There’s also souvenirs and Hokkaido specific foods and goods. We had a good time and would come back again.

We found this restaurant while searching for lamb, which is one of Sapporo's specialty foods. The restaurant is located inside a building, so it is not visible from the main street. There was quite a long queue during dinner time. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by clouds of smoke filling the entire room, which was quite irritating to the eyes, along with the distinctive aroma of grilled meat. The restaurant provides a wardrobe for hanging coats, equipped with plastic covers to prevent them from absorbing too much smoke—though many people did not bother to close the plastic cover after opening it. The restaurant's layout is quite unique, as there is only one long circular table surrounding the staff who cut the lamb. The female staff responsible for cutting the meat was very skilled at trimming off almost all the fat. The male staff member attending to customers could speak English, making it easier for guests to place their orders. The meat itself was quite delicious, even though it was served immediately after being cut, without any marinade. It was very tender and had no unpleasant odor. The dipping sauce provided paired perfectly with the meat. After finishing the meal, the remaining sauce was diluted with hot water, turning it into a kind of soup that helped cleanse the greasy aftertaste of the lamb.

Revisited this genghis khan store after many years (it used to be on the second floor up some stairs in an old wooden room). We used to call this place "the lamb grill where my grandma's appetite suddenly doubled" since that was one of the times she actually finished all her meat and rice and asked for more from the rest of us. The current location and decor has lost some of the charm. Ventilation is as bad as ever so expect to smell like smoke when coming out. At least my jacket was protected in a wardrobe. One of the lady chefs still cuts the meat out in front and trims the fat (the last time it was an elderly man with spectacles). The meat is served unmarinated and is mainly lean meat. I really prefer this place over some other genghis khan restaurants due to the lack of marinade. Some other restaurants use a strong marinade (sometimes garlicky, sometimes sweet) which covers the freshness and smell of the lamb. The dipping sauce and rice are as good as ever. We finished 3 plates of meat each and were very satisfied with the meal.

It's a simple menu. When you sit the table will be set with the jingisukan grill with a fat blob on top and onion. You'll get one portion / plate of lamb meat per person and can order: • sides like kimchi • sides to grill like garlic, garlic shoots, veggies • rice (would recommend plain rice which goes well with the meat and dipping sauce) Sauce is given per person and you can add raw garlic and chili powder to it. When you're done they will tip away much of your remaining sauce and add hot water leaving you with a soup. The place is v down to earth and no frills. The meat is lean so if you wants various fatty cuts you may want to go elsewhere (although the guy next to us ordered a lamb rib so you could ask for other cuts but it's not on the menu)

Took my family and our 2-year-old son for what we hoped would be a nice meal — instead, we got a masterclass in how not to treat paying customers. The owner welcomed us with all the warmth of a malfunctioning robot. No smile, no greeting, and — plot twist — no water. I guess hydration is a premium add-on here? The food? Not bad! The lamb was tasty. But it’s hard to enjoy your meal when you're being treated like an inconvenience for daring to exist. I didn’t know eating BBQ came with emotional damage. Would I go again? Only if I’m feeling too happy and need to be humbled.

i visited Genghis Khan for dinner with my husband on my honeymoon holiday and it's easily the best lamb we've ever tasted. the entire place was filled with locals and we were the only foreigners dining tonight, which made us stick out like a sore thumb hahahaha but thankfully the staff were extremely friendly and helpful! they gave us an "information sheet" with instructions in English and they made sure to let us feel at ease while dining. we ordered 2 of their "special" rice and both were equally great. we were served with 2 plates of their lamb and we decided to order another plate because it was so good. the lamb was naturally sweet on its own, and i can confidently say I've never tasted lamb so tender and so soft before. each piece of lamb made me crave for yet another piece. we also ordered extra asparagus and I'm really not sure what the Japanese do to everything, but they sure make everything taste better. the asparagus had a slight buttery taste which made me a little confused (in a good way, though) and i truly enjoyed every bite of the asparagus! I'm honestly not one to appreciate vegetables as I'm more of a meat person but i found myself finishing most of the asparagus. the onions they served were naturally sweet as well, and it soaked up all of the lamb fat and flavor after being grilled on the hot plate. YUM. we really wanted to order a fourth plate to share but i decided not to, as we'll save it for our next visit here. the restaurant is relatively easy to locate as well, we're first timers in Sapporo and had little difficulty searching for the restaurant. do note that the ventilation in the restaurant is not very good, and you'll walk out of the place with your clothes and hair smelling like barbecue. but it's 100% worth it, i promise you. the total bill came up to about 5,400 yen which is extremely reasonable for the sheer amount and the quality of the meat. will be back again and again and again and again.

Very disappointing. They delayed my order on purpose even though the restaurant was relatively empty. I reminded them and they pretended it never happened, further delaying my order twice more before serving it. I had to leave my table to call out the waitresses and they avoided eye contact and eventually the chef came out to confirm my order. Aside from that, there was no ventilation, entire place was smoky and greasy. I spoke proper Japanese but they gave me the gaijin treatment. Apart from the bad service, this has got to be the worst tasting Genghis Khan I ever ate in Sapporo. Meat here is tough and poorly marinated. Dine here at your own risk, otherwise you are better off at places like Sapporo Beer garden that serves delicious genghis khan.

Good restaurant with an unlimited all you can eat option. However with the all you can eat option you can only get the Australian lamb, not the local lamb or Icelandic lamb.

A self-service BBQ meal. Came with my family of 5 around 8pm, had to take seats at level 9, but waited only 20 min. The place was full of the smoke from the BBQ; the exhaust fans were not doing their jobs. We ordered 3 sets of the "4 meats" set meal (3 kinds of lamb, 1 venison) for 5 of us -- each set was supposed to be for 2 pax -- and 4 Sapporo draft beers. Food was delicious, but not quite enough for 5 of us. Beer was smooth!

Extremely dirty looking place. Got a shock when I saw the stained wall, dirty kitchen, dusty pipes and rim filled with oil and around the gas cooking grill. Wanted to leave immediately but it was too inconvenient as we had already locked our shoes. Marinated lamb was extremely tough and inedible to swallow but the restaurant refuses to refund or charge half even though we wanted to return all. Chef just stared at us rudely and fiercely. A very unpleasant place, poor customer service and dirty environment. Not recommended.

Awesome yakiniku (Japanese style BBQ) venue. Specialised in lamb, mutton and some venison (deer, etc.), like in the authentic Hokkaido tradition. Meats are generally great. Good choice of drinks. Good service. Reasonably priced. The environment is cozy, traditional & rustic alike. Located on the 10F, with nice night views from the large windows. Hokkaido-style yakiniku is def recommended once in Sapporo. Genghis Khan is surely a good option.

This is a most common grill lamb 成吉思汗烤肉in Hokkaido. The shop is a bit pricy but tasty, staff not good in English-speaking but you can use body language so no worry about communication. Just sit down and enjoy.

This was our second Genghis Khan meal of the trip, more authentic than the previous one with the all-lamb menu. We went at 5:30pm to avoid the crowds but still waited for around 10-15 minutes before we were seated. We ordered the “Genghis Khan” - a selection of cuts, the loin, lamb sausage and lamb soup. We re-ordered the loin as it was delicious - fatty without any musty smell sometimes associated with lamb. The sausage was awesome - grill it until it is completely crispy on the outside. We also tried the grilled cheese which was surprisingly tasty - it was like eating cheesy crisps. The menu was a little bit on the expensive side - if the queue was long, we may consider alternatives.

The good thing about this place is that they have outdoor seating, so you don't have to sit inside with the dense BBQ smoke. They also have many cuts of lamb, including offal parts. The sausage is spicy and very delicious. I really love sitting outside here.

There’s an english menu if you ask for it. It’s a popular spot for locals. The food isn’t cheap, but the food quality is definitely superb for Genghis Khan BBQ in susukino. A plate of Genghis Khan lamb for ¥980 will get you 5 pieces. The lamb loin for ¥1680 gets you 4 slices. You’re definitely going for quality over quantity here. Make sure you get the veggie refill at the end for ¥330. They’ll fill your pan up with onion and bean sprouts and soak up all the meat juices on the grill.

Jingisukan hitsujikainomise Itadakimasu (Hokkaido style lamb BBQ restaurant) This restaurant is self grill lamb BBQ. The lamb meet is a high quality. It was a very delicious lamb meet. It’s recommended because it’s close to Susukino station!

Lots of exhibits to see, all in Japanese though. Had a snow festival exhibit and general history of William Clark. Also cute sheep and beautiful stained glass pieces! If going, would recommend bus during the winter time, pretty hard to get to the top and lots of slush, have to be on the same road as cars.

The entrance fee is 1000 yen per person. At noon there is no sheep for taking photo ,I don't know when they will let sheeps outside.

Beautiful and peaceful spot with green fields, sheep, and a great view of Sapporo. The Clark statue is perfect for photos. If you live in Hokkaido, the ticket is only ¥500 for adults — totally worth it!

The drive into the park was beautiful in the snow. Free cross country skiing was enjoyable for 2 in our group. The historic Snow Festival exhibit was very interesting and we would recommend taking the time to see the display. Winter activities were going on in several areas and we wished we had more time to explore. It would be nice to return in the summer when everything is green.

It’s a pleasant place with nice views of the city and a nice grassy area with lavender in summer (and some sheep fields). But it’s expensive (¥1000 per person when we went) and if you are from somewhere with sheep and grassy spaces, you might feel it’s a bit familiar!

The shop is really small , maybe fits only around 15 people. The prices are definitely higher than most other BBQ places. To be honest, grilled meat is just grilled meat. Nothing really stood out. The lamb is really fresh and tasty, grilled over charcoal. Only thing is the wait is pretty long because it’s always so crowded.

To be honest this is the only disappoint meal I’ve had during my trip in Sapporo for 9days, this is highly overrated and pricey , my friend and I (4adult) spend roughly 15000 yen to eat in and right after we left the store we are heading straight to Lawson to purchase some bento to enjoy it.

We waited for more than two hours to get in. They have only 12 seats so please consider this when you need to make decision on if you want to wait in the waiting line. Once we get in, we found we would have to cook by ourselves. They only offered to rare lamb. So how good the food is really depends on how good your bbq skills you have. When waiting outside in the line, there’s no chair or anything to sit. You have to stand on the street for the whole waiting period. Not a pleasure experience.

The food here was actually quite good, but our experience was spoiled by one very unfriendly waitress. We ordered two medium rice when we placed our order, but the rice didn’t come even after all the meat was served. When we reminded her, she suddenly raised her voice and asked again what size we wanted. After we billed, she placed two wet tissues on the table, and when we asked if they were for us, she gave us a strange and rude look, as if we were trying to take something that wasn’t ours. They are located close to the Sapporo JR Station, inside a small mall, easy to find. They have no English speakers but have English menu and instructions. We ordered sets and a la carte, but they forgot our salad. The lamb they serve is not gamey at all and at the same time, very heavily marinated. Price was ratherly reasonable. First time eating Genghis Khan in Sapporo here. We chose the set that has 4 types of meat. Staff were very helpful--we communicated through basic Japanese. Orders can be done via a tablet, which has an English language option, or through their staff. As for the food itself, the meat was very tasty, and the sauce that was served complemented the meat well. We ordered haskap-flavored ice cream for dessert, a Hokkaido specialty, and it was also good. The restaurant is located in an office building basement, and lots of office workers eat here come dinner time. The place, utensils, and grills were clean, and cabinets are provided where you can store your jackets/clothes while grilling.

I didn’t want to leave Sapporo without trying out a Genghis Khan bbq at least once. This location was perfect as it was close to my hotel, the staff was kind and I had my order within minutes. I went with their standard lunch menu. I like that the grill had a sloped design which let the veggies cook into the juices from the meat. It made for a much heartier meal. I had a good time at this Genghis Khan.

Our family truly enjoyed Matsuo Genghis Khan during our holiday in Sapporo December 2022. The lamb meat was delicious and tender, and not getting any unpleasant smell usually associated with Lamb meat. They had English menu and English speaking staff that were helpful, and show us how to properly cook the Genghis Khan. Definitely will come back again on our next trip to Sapporo.

Nice concept, lamb was decent but I prefer lamb chops…had the premium rib loin and just found it ok. Just tried it to check it off must try dishes in Hokkaido. Not sure if there are nicer shops selling jingisukan but as a whole, for this dish, wasn’t terribly impressed

This was one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan and the fact that you cook it yourself and have given instructions makes it even better. Fantastic food fantastic restaurant fantastic staff.

We reserved a table online for the 100-minute free-flow BBQ at Kirin Beer Garden in the Urban Sapporo building. The package offers four types of meat—beef, mutton, pork, and chicken—along with a free-flow veggie set (bean sprouts, onions, and cabbage). However, drinks are not included, and each cup is charged separately. If you’re craving seafood, that’s an additional charge too. From the moment you enter, the smell of BBQ fills the air—a hint of the ventilation issues inside. Walking to our table, we noticed the smoke visibly lingering throughout the restaurant. If you’re dining here, be prepared to leave smelling like BBQ! On the bright side, they do offer plastic bags for jackets, which helps keep the smoky scent off your outerwear. The meat quality was fairly average. The beef, in particular, was quite fatty and tough, clearly not a premium cut. For the price, it’s hard to complain, but don’t go in expecting top-notch quality. It’s a heavy meal overall, so it might not be for everyone. On the positive side, the service was excellent! The staff were all incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient, which really added to the experience and made the meal more enjoyable. Overall, while the service shines, the food and ventilation could use some improvement. It’s an okay option if you’re a fan of table BBQ, but there are likely better spots to explore in Sapporo.

Great place to try Hokkaido's famed "Genghis Khan" mutton barbecue. We opted for both the all you can eat and all you can drink options and had a great time trying various drinks from their extensive drinks menu, as well as different types of meats and vegetables, including seafood. Seems to be quite reasonable for the price and what you get. I recommend wearing clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or smelly as it is inevitable that you will smell like barbecue and smoke.

The restaurant is located at the seventh floor of the building. It is not halal certified but claimed to be muslim friendly. Basically it is an all you can eat restaurant. We only ordered lamb meat and assorted vegetable to be grilled. The lamb combined with been sprouts, cabbage tasted delicious. They provided plastic apron in order to prevent the smell of the smoke stays on your clothes. When we visitted the table almost full but fortunately we could get the table thanks to advance reservation.

A little pricey for the genghis khan lamb compared to some other locations. Quality was good though as was the icy beer in the Sapporo heatwave. Be aware it can be quite smokey with all the bbqs cooking. We were able to walk in and get a table which was great.

They have halal menu. So this is a review on their halal menu. Halal meat limited only to the lamb meat. If you don't like ur lamb only eaten with salt & pepper, then this place is not for u, because the meat is not marinated at all. They do give u (halal) soy sauce though. For the all-u-can-eat Genghis Khan they only give u lamb meat, cabbage & bean sprouts. Which is totally not worth paying ¥2,980 for it. Untuk orang melayu, tu RM114 ye. Amat tak berbaloi. If you're not a big eater, can just opt for the single plate lamb (90g). I made the mistake of ordering the all-u-can-eat Genghis Khan and ended up struggling to finish the 2 plates that they gave. Restaurant is poorly ventilated. The moment u come in u can see the smoke & smell the meat. The smell sticks to ur clothes & ur hair.

First meat meal in Sapporo. Muslim friendly restaurant. Located on the 7th floor in a building across from Mega. Ordered two Gengkhis Khan set for two people. Meat was soft and delicious. Came with assorted vegetables too. It would be better if they have a variety of sauces to dip in. They only have soy sauce. There is lamb smell if you grill the meat without dipping in the soy sauce first. You can smell lamb on your clothes after the meal but it’s alright it’s a good experience! Staff was friendly and food came quick!! 👍👍

Easy to navigate if you have navigated the busy tokyo or shibuya station. Great connections to local sapporo and northern areas. Underground shopping mall all the way to Odori and Susukino is wow! Has several elevators though not very visible on digital maps but its available in most exits useful for those who are with elderly and kids.Has several lockers too! Has many convenient stores and food shops restaurants in different levels and connected to Sapporo Stellar and Daimaru Mall. Can be chaotic in the morning for those tryif to queue for tickets in JR lines. If you have suica in your apple wallet its a life saver.

Excellent station. Tons of food options and Daimaru and shopping malls all around and under. Yodobashi closeby and bic camera and Tokyu department store. Just an insanely busy station only drawback. Can use IC card to go straight to the airport. Convenient! Underground walkway goes all the way to Susukino Cocono with many branches so you can stay out of the cold. Overall excellent

Navigating is a breeze with a handful of shopping malls, restaurants, and souvenir shops to explore. The snowflakes outside Sapporo Station on January 7, 2024, create a truly inviting scene. Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, is experiencing a flawless winter—absolutely perfect.

Sapporo station, can take JR and subway. There are shopping mall and department store with station so that good to buy something. it's quite good and well-managed clean. center of the Sapporo city.

The station offers easy access to facilities nearby and connects to other cities in Hokkaido. The Apia underground shopping centre was also good, having good shops and restaurants.

One if the nicest and most beautiful train stations in all of Japan. The train system here is extremely easy to use and much less crowded than central Tokyo. There are so many delicious food options and you can also choose to walk to other parts of the city underground. It's convenient and helps keep you warm during Sapporo's cold winter months.

Be cautious when passing through the toll gate at this JR station. My son accidentally triggered an alarm after inserting his ticket, mistakenly passing through the gate after past the trunk first then himself. Immediately, an elderly station attendant with white hair stopped him, started interrogating, and began scolding him harshly. Just before that incident, my wife had left her smartphone on the train. I approached the gate and asked that old guy where the lost and found was. Sensing my non-native Japanese, he pointed vaguely outside, with an attitude that felt dismissive—almost like he was annoyed. Unable to find the lost and found, I returned to the gate and discovered the situation with my son. Since he doesn’t speak Japanese, he said he didn’t understand while the old man was yelling at him. My wife tried to explain in her limited Japanese that we had bought four tickets—one for each of us—and even showed the receipt. She said that everyone had inserted their ticket one by one, but our son must have made a mistake. Still unaware of what exactly had happened, I tried to ask the attendant calmly about the lost and found. But he yelled at me, saying, “It’s right out there after the gate!” That’s when I realized the problem involving my son. I tried to de-escalate and asked, “So is this about the money? If that’s the issue, I’m happy to pay for the ticket.” But the old man remained agitated. Thankfully, a younger female clerk approached and began listening to what we were saying. She kindly re-explained the situation to the old man, but he still refused to calm down. So I said, “If you think we’re lying or trying to cheat the system, fine—I’ll pay. Is that enough to resolve this?” The young clerk tried to persuade him by saying it was likely just a mistake and that we could move on. He didn’t respond verbally but reluctantly showed agreement. I know very well and have faced so many this type of old guys despise foreigners especially Asians thinking it’s still World War II era, they were colonizing and oppressing the people. Instead of confronting right at the spot, I left the site bringing my family because we’re too much exhausted coming here and it’s almost 10 pm. Try your best not to be noticed as foreigners and try not to make any mistakes.

Overall, the food was good. The sauce is authentic. I did not like that there is a separate charge for the Onion and other vegetables. Then I ordered the Lemon Sour but the waiter did not serve it until I asked for it. He only gave me water. Then I was not informed that it is bottomless. Inspite of it all, the experience is good when eating lamb with special sauce and lemon sour while in Sapporo Winter 2025.

For lamb this is good one. A lot of smoke in there place. Maybe it is local thing but I think they can improve the vetilation high power hood. Service is great but there are no english menu we translated by Google. We order 3dishes of lamb the salty one should eat with rice no dip. Overall if you not think to much this is great place for quick dinner or hang out with smoky environment.

I ordered a traveller's set, pork horumon, and seasoned mutton jingisukan. The traveller's set was good and the seasoned mutton jingisukan was delicious. However, the pork horumon was very chewy and bland. I would skip it next time.

Heard about Genghis Khan restaurants in Sapporo & decided to try this restaurant as it is quite close to where we were staying. We had no reservations but they were able to sit us within 5 minutes of arrival. We order the traveler’s set, added 2 plates of additional meats plus 3 pieces of the lamb steak. The foods were so amazing & was tasty even without dipping into the sauce. We shared a bowl of rice with Bonita flakes, and they were so generous with their Bonito flakes. Overall. It was a really delicious meal & we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Good enough place to enjoy Genghis Khan. Meats are fresh & delicious, but selections were very limited. Meat prices are reasonable. Vegetables are expensive compared to the meats. Very local, some might like the local atmosphere. Personally, the restaurant felt dirty, smoky (bad ventilation & some people were smoking), the air was dusty (from the charcoals). The lamb sausage was surprisingly good.

Indulge in your lamb cravings at this excellent spot. The fresh lamb pairs perfectly with a cold beer. Arriving at 6 pm, we had a 30-minute wait without a reservation, so be sure to go early to secure your spot. Keep in mind that the restaurant's ventilation is lacking, resulting in a smoky atmosphere that may leave your clothes smelling like barbecue.

Want to give 3.5 stars but just rounded up. Variety of fresh lamb cuts from Hokkaido, Iceland, and New Zealand as well. Great atmosphere of a mom and pop shop, and very aesthetic round cast iron grills. We ordered the tongue, Hokkaido lamb, and a lamb chop. Overall I thought the meat lacked some seasoning, even with the dipping sauce on the side - the meats would taste a lot better with just a bit of pre-seasoning. The lamb chop was the best as they do pre season and cook on the grill before serving it on your individual pot, however it took 20 minutes to be served during peak dinner hours. Seems to be a famous spot with a decent wait, but not worth waiting in line for imo. The service is pretty slow due to being understaffed and while the meat is fresh, it’s not out of the ordinary. But a cool local atmosphere for sure.

Got there around 5.50pm on weekday and there was no queue. How lucky. **If you’re afraid of strong lamb smell like me, don’t worry - I really enjoyed it without that kind of smell.** Shop is small with two tables for 4 and one counter which could fit 8 people. Better to get seat over counter as the uncle would advise you how to eat and help you avoid overcooking the meat. The ventilation is great so we did not feel much smoke or greases inside. We only ordered Hokkaido lamb even though there are others from Iceland and Australia. * Lamb fillet - a MUST try as it is available only 2 servings a day. They will cook for you and only as medium rare. They actually asked us beforehand if medium rare was alright. I guess it was at its best as medium rare. Very soft, tender and no lamb smell. We ordered two. *Lamb chop - very flavorful and juicy. They will cook and season the chop before serving. This might take some time but waiting is gold. *Hokkaido lamb - not as outstanding as the other two. *Neko rice - nice to go with the grill. I love the smell of bonito flakes. *Kimchi rice - not bad but I prefer neko one. If I come by Sapporo, I will definitely come back here.

Everything was great! It’s a small, cramped shop with plenty of character. I had never seen lamb tongue before and it was certainly delicious. It can seem a bit pricey, but the meat is very high quality and they have great variety. Sometimes lamb can have a strong smell/taste that some people don’t like; none of the cuts at this store had it, not even the mutton. It is very crowded so a reservation is definitely recommended.

We were really looking forward to trying Genghis Khan here, but this restaurant was a huge disappointment. We were made to wait outside in the rain for over 40 minutes, even though the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. For a place that claims to be tourist-friendly, it was anything but — the staff were not helpful or accommodating and offered no explanation or apology for the delay. When we finally got in, the food didn’t redeem the experience. The lamb chop was almost entirely fat, and the three other meats were small, flavorless portions that tasted unseasoned and low-quality. Overall, the meat didn’t seem fresh or well-trimmed — mostly fatty and not the stellar Hokkaido lamb we were expecting. For the price and wait, this was incredibly underwhelming. There are far better spots in Hokkaido for authentic, high-quality Jingisukan that actually make guests feel welcome. I wouldn’t recommend this one at all

I choose this place because it was just beside my hotel and I didn’t regret. The restaurant is always crowded because no many places inside, around 12 seats. My seat was located at the counter. In my opinion, this is always the best place to enjoy the real atmosphere of the restaurant. Lamb Yakiniku style restaurant with large slices of lamb meat. In the sapporo beer garden, the lamb is very thin and looks like carpaccio. Here, the meat was larger and taste was much better. I could feel the different meat cuts. The lamb ribs were the best. Price was expensive. If you are hungry you can spend too much. Anyway, I recommend.

Nothing really too special about this old clock house. It may have its significant at the time when it was built but it is now surrounded by modern buildings! If you pay ¥350 for a ticket to visit inside of the building but the information displayed is all in Japanese, Chinese and Korean, very few have English distribution. But the mechanical clock display inside on the second floor is very cool. Just like many other photo location, there is a stand in front of the building that is set up for taking selfie!

The Sapporo TV Tower, built in 1957, is one of the city’s earliest landmarks and has stood watch over Odori Park for more than six decades. Designed during Japan’s post-war modernisation period, it originally served as a key broadcasting tower and quickly became a symbol of Sapporo. Visiting in winter is especially beautiful. From the observation deck, the view of Odori Park blanketed in snow feels almost timeless—quiet, white, and serene. The symmetrical lines of the park, covered in soft snow, make the city look peaceful and historic, as though time has slowed down. A simple but meaningful stop for anyone who wants to appreciate Sapporo’s history and the gentle beauty of its snowy landscape.

Very nice museum, about the history of the building. Most explanations are translated jn English. There is also a spot inside to take pictures with a statue Dr Clark and a small shop. Visited in June, and the inside of the building was very hot despite fans and some air conditioning.

You can spend 20-30 mins here in between your city walks of Sapporo, a good spot to take short break as well because there's a big sitting hall on second floor. While you taking a break from your 10,000 steps, you can read and checking the videos explaining the history of this clock tower.

worth the visit. Learn the history of this clock tower. overall I only took less than an hour to tour its museum and exhibition. There is souvenirs shop inside too.

Unique clock tower. Probably one of the most prominent attractions in Sapporo. This historic site tells a tale of how Japan bought the bell from the US for a school building that eventually became this site. Pay cash at entrance to enter. There are 2 floors of history to read up. Tip, the bell rung at 12pm sharp when we are there. Paid parking at public carparks. There is a small road where you can park at the side of the tower which will be the nearest.

Usui Masao was a terrific host at this wonderful historical landmark. He spoke English, well. He was knowledgeable regarding facts that related to Japan and America! Most of the information he shared would have taken goes to get by translating each picture and item at the museum. Some, I'm sure, we wouldn't have known without him.

Not as tall as the Tokyo tower but if you come on a sunny clear day it’s totally worth the visit. Amazing views of the city with a beautiful background of snowy mountains and buildings. If you are in Sapporo I would really recommend checking this tower out.

Located at Odori Park and you can see a lot of people hanging out here and along the park. I did not go up the tower but we can see the Tower from far. It was beautiful during night time as it was brighten up with colorful lights.

We stayed at the hotel across the street and had a lovely view of the tower at night! It’s magical to see it lit up with its dancing lights 🚥. It makes a beautiful backdrop for those music festivals in the park. The experience up the tower was meh but the view from the outside is gorgeous!

This is one of the places where you get to see Sapporo on higher ground. It's right at one end of odori park and has a great view of the park. You need to buy a ticket at level 3 to get to the highest viewing platform. Overall a nice experience walking around to see the beautiful landscape of Sapporo city.

My siblings and I recently visited the Sapporo TV Tower, and it turned out to be a fun and memorable experience. Sapporo TV Tower is not just about the views—it’s about immersing yourself in the vibrant energy of the city. Our visit was filled with laughter, photo-taking, and quality time spent together. It's a place where memories are made and where the bustling spirit of Sapporo truly comes alive.

It’s such a beautiful place! I visited in mid-October, right in the middle of autumn. The gardens were decorated with colorful flowers in full bloom, and the weather was just perfect. If you don’t plan to visit any of the special exhibition rooms, there’s no entrance fee — just strolling around, taking photos of the rose garden, fountains, and stunning architecture already makes the trip worth it. You only need to pay a small parking fee, which isn’t expensive at all. When you get tired from walking, there are also tasty food and drinks available to enjoy.

Wow, what a fun place! And it only gets better if you love chocolate. The open area is already so lovely, well kept, and enjoyable even without having to pay for admission into the park proper. But it's well worth it to pay the small admission price to see the chocolate museum and factory inside! I enjoyed the "time travel" presentation, and the Halloween theme during our visit. It's such an enjoyable visit that should last at least a few hours Pro tip: watch the clock tower at the top of every hour!

For a chocolate factory there are 2 products both are covered in so much biscuit you'd be surprised this isn't a biscuit factory. The story is cute and the garden is lovely, the garden is accessible for free and so is the shop and some lovely areas. Having been to bournville in the UK when it was UK owned and again when US Kraft owned it it's going a bit rubbish but is still about 100x more entertaining than this place. Recommended for if you like some superficial nonsense for your overpriced products. But if like me you were hoping to get some chocolate from a chocolate factory give it a swerve. Or just enjoy the English sort of aesthetic of the place and the garden but know the smell of chocolate will leave you deeply disappointed and needing to visit a shop for a proper chocolate experience

A wonderland that is both interesting and romantic. The ticket is 800 yen for adults, tourists can get access to the main building by the ticket. The main building, mostly telling stories about the history of making chocolates and the founder of this factory, is magic. And tourists can also learn how to make chocolates and cakes here. And the most impressive part I’ve learned today is that ‘white lover’ is named because the snow in Hokkaido is beautiful so that the founder’s father called it ‘white lover’. The dessert on the top of the factory was just splendid! with good view by the window, a perfect experience! Highly recommended!! And if you don’t buy tickets, the free area is also amazing, like a magic garden in a fairy tale. It’s a pity that we didn’t get enough time today, maybe next time when I come with my child, I’ll spend a whole day here!

Highly recommend to visit in October. The park is decorated for Halloween. We paid ¥800 to tour inside which was interactive for children as well. The factory view from above was very interesting. There are also plenty of photo spots and even a ¥300 camera from above photo spot in the courtyard. We purchased customised 36-biscuit tin and magnet from the Piccadilly shop downstairs in the main building and it was ready after a 30 wait. There are some shop exclusive items, however, the biscuits are standardised price across all gift shops in Hokkaido so no need to stock up here.

Shiroi Koibito Park is a really amazing place to visit. The whole area is very clean, visually stunning, and well-designed. The gardens and buildings are beautiful, and the chocolate exhibits and factory viewing area are interesting and worth checking out. It’s also a great spot for photos. Definitely a must-visit when you’re in Sapporo.

Had great time at this chocolate factory. The place is well decorated and you can see live how the chocolate are made. They have variety of chocolate souvenir shop. The ice cream and chocolate one of the best in japan.

We visited Nijo Market during our time in Sapporo and loved every bit of it. The atmosphere was lively and filled with the scent of fresh seafood. Stalls were lined with beautiful displays of crabs, scallops, sea urchins, and more—it was a feast for the senses even before tasting anything. After browsing around, we decided to sit down for lunch at one of the small stalls inside the market. We ordered fresh kaisendon and grilled seafood—everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The seafood bowl was overflowing with tuna, salmon roe, sweet shrimp, and uni, and it was easily one of the best meals we had during our Hokkaido trip. The staff at the stall were warm and welcoming, even helping us with recommendations. The kids also enjoyed walking around afterward, checking out other stalls and watching the seafood being cleaned and grilled on the spot. There’s a very local, down-to-earth feel about the whole place, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Nijo Market is more than just a place to buy seafood—it’s a window into Hokkaido’s food culture and a great spot for a satisfying, authentic lunch in Sapporo.

A good location to visit for an experience of a local Market. The place is nice and clean. There are many seafood restaurants here. We came before 8am and there were queues in front of most of the restaurants already. Other than restaurants there are many stalls Selling everything from seafood to dry goods to fruits. The stall staff were all very friendly and warm. Overall a good interesting place with good vibes to visit in Sapporo.

Went to Nijo market around 1pm to look for the red Hanasaki crab which is in season: May-August. Chanced upon a stall （有）山下水産。Selected a medium size Hanasaki crab and bargained with seller. All friendly and good! The workers warmed it up and cut the crab 😄. Lots of meat and tasted very good. There’s sweetness in the meat and everybit is flavorful. It was enough for three of us (adults). Definitely a must try in Sapporo.

A very popular spot in Sapporo, mainly you can enjoy see food here, as choosing the most local people where line up, if you want the whole menu then you better come early, like 10 PM, or many items may sold out.

Very near to the shopping street. Easy access and friendly people. Cheapest place in town if you are looking to buy dry seafood products for your cooking. Come during October cooling and very nice time to come.

You’ve got crabs the size of small dogs, scallops so fresh they still have ocean attitude, trays of sea urchin, sashimi bowls piled high like edible art, and enough dried fish and seafood snacks to make your backpack smell very interesting for the rest of the day. There’s a charm to how local and low-key it feels—no massive tourist spectacle here, just real-deal vendors, tiny family-run stalls, and breakfast spots that serve donburi so fresh it practically swims onto your rice. That said, some stalls do cater to tourists, so prices can vary depending on how far you wander. 💡 Pro tip: Come early for the freshest options and to beat the brunch crowd. Look for the smaller shops around the edges—they often have better deals and fewer cameras. And if you’ve never had uni before, this is the place to give it a go.

We went in with the intention to just quickly do a self animal tour but when we went in, we caught ourselves in awe with all these beautiful creatures that share the same land as us. We saw animals that we would never have gotten a chance to see in America. Thank you for having such beautiful animals to show us.

I went to this zoo on a Thursday in late October. I've heard this is the off-season for Sapporo tourism, which may explain why the missing polar bears and a few other exhibits. Even though I was disappointed about the lack of the polar bears, it was okay. The only other sadly disappointment was seeing one of the red pandas pace with obvious mental illness. The tigers, lions, snow leopards were beautiful, and there were quite a few other great exhibits. Keep in mind that if you are nearsighted and have glasses, then your glasses will fog up and you will have problems seeing exhibits in the humidified areas. I visited Maruyama Zoo in Sapporo recently. The place is clean and well-organized, and there’s a good variety of animals to see. Some enclosures are more spacious than others, but overall the animals seemed well taken care of. It’s a nice spot for families or a quiet afternoon walk. Not too big, so you can see everything in a couple of hours. Worth a visit if you’re nearby, but don’t expect anything too extraordinary.

This zoo needs a lot of tender care. We visited on a Tuesday afternoon, only very few people or visitors were here! But we do see some very young school kids here to have their field day! Even this zoo doesn’t have lots of animals, all the animals they have are in good condition and health. But there are many, I mean many empty stalls without any animals. That makes the zoo looked very sad. The animal that impressed me the most is the tiger. It looks magnificent The polar bear also looks very good. Best wishes to this zoo and the animals!

Pretty good zoo with variety of animals and good space to walk around. However, it can be really hot during summer and some animals will hide avoiding the heat. We saw most of them except the polar bear that they didn’t come out at all as too much heat ytd. Closing time is a bit too soon, 4:30 pm esp during summer though. Feel bad for some birds that didn’t seem to have much space compared to their size and no place to fly at all. Overall with visiting for us, we spent approximately 4:30 hrs there.

Takes about 4 hours to see all the animals. We enjoyed the reptile museum the most. We were amazed how clean and well maintained the zoo was. We actively saw many zoo staff clean the cages and feed the animals.

I visited Maruyama Zoo (円山動物園) in Sapporo during the winter, when everything was covered in white snow. The scenery was beautiful and felt like stepping into another world. Despite the cold weather, all the animals looked healthy and well-cared for, which shows how dedicated the staff are. It was also my first time ever seeing a polar bear, seal, and penguin in real life — such an amazing and memorable experience! My visit was truly enjoyable and left a strong impression on me. I hope to return again someday, perhaps in the summer or autumn, to see the zoo in a different season. Definitely worth a visit if you're ever in Sapporo!

Sankaku Market is amazing for seafood lovers! Everything is super fresh, and the seafood bowls are loaded with flavor. Most important price is reasonable. The live scallop was unforgettable — sweetness and freshness on another level. Definitely a must-try if you’re here. Fuiyoh

It's quite an easy destination from JR Otaru station, just use the left exit and walk aside. There're so many fresh seafood-donburi restaurant all around.

Must come if you're around the Otaru region! It is a very small seafood market. But it is an experience seeing so many live king crabs and snow crabs. Some of them are almost as big as a human arm! Note that most of the crabs are from Russia and if you want the ones caught in Japan, it will be a little more expensive. We also tried the oysters which were fresh delicious as well. The best way to eat fresh seafood is just to request for it to be steamed. You taste so much sweetness in the meat.

The place is not as big as Tsukiji market in Tokyo or Nishiki market in Kyoto, but I am satisfied with their fresh seafood. Their salmon and uni were sweet 😋 I ordered the hairy crab 🦀 and it was so meaty and delicious. Pricey though but was worth the experience. Oh just a reminder!! Be ready with your cash as they only accept cash and Pay Pay. Bring your mini fan also, although they provided us with mini fan while waiting. Weather was like 34 degrees when we visited.

Size-wise, Sankaku Market is much smaller than the one in Busan, Korea. But the big difference is the Japanese culinary treatment — after you pick your seafood and choose the shop, they prepare it so beautifully. And the best part? It’s only a 2-minute walk from Otaru Station.

A very narrow market, so it felt quite crowded when I visited. The location is super convenient as it’s very close to Otaru Station. Most of the shops sell seafood, and almost every stall displays huge king crabs right at the front. The prices I saw ranged from 10,000 to 12,000 yen per kg. I managed to get a 1.2 kg crab for 10,000 yen without even bargaining—though I heard you should bargain here, but I didn’t. There are actually two entrances to the market. I accidentally used the one farther from Otaru Station, not knowing there’s a much closer entrance right beside the station. So take note if you’re visiting!

Sansaku Market is a must-visit for fresh Hokkaido flavors, friendly vendors, and a lively, local experience. Highly recommended for both tourists and food enthusiasts!

Very cozy and scenic park. Has a zoo, Shrine and a small play area. Autumn fall colors at its best in Oct end. Washrooms were dirty and unhygienic unlike other japan toilets.

Very zen, a good pit-stop for big walkers like myself. That day I walked from Susukino to the summit of Moiwayama. I had to stop by Maruyama koen. It was around 10:30am. Sunny day. Had a nice rest sitting at a bench gazing at the lake, having sips from my canned coffee. The public toilet was a blessing too.

Very pleasant park near the subway station. There are vending machines with warm drinks and a coffee cart. Walk further in to find a shrine that is popular with tourists. The walk is nice during autumn and there is a Starbucks nearby should you want to get a coffee first. Good for about a one hour sightseeing!

A bit walk from station and the park is very beautiful with flowers from sakura and plum trees. ​We went there on weekday. Not so crowded. Great place to sit down and absorb the beauty of nature. Further inside, there are popular sweet shop, the shrines and the zoo. Just follow the signs and you will not get lost.

We visited in November, planning to do some birdwatching and see if we can find squirrels. The park was perfectly described with the word 'koyo', as the autumn foliage was outstanding! In the pond we found a group of Mandaring Ducks, Mallards and other songbirds. We also found squirrels! Some people offered nuts and acorns. Don't feed the crows! If you visit this park, I'd recommend to also see the Hokkaido Jingu Shrine and the Jingu Tea Room!

This is a chain that serves Genghis Khan style grilled lamb and you really see more locals here than foreigners which is great however the lineup is always quite long. We only waited around 25 minutes which is not bad but they have bar seating only which might not be good if you have a large group. The lamb was so fresh and not gamy at all, we ordered 3 cuts of meat for 2 people and found that it was just the perfect amount of food without getting too full. It’s such a great experience and you have to try if you are in Sapporo.

This branch is open earlier for lunch. It’s located not far from Susukino subway station. I arrived around 12.30, the queue was very long. The restaurant had not many seats around 12 seats. I waited for 45 minutes. There were lockers in the restaurant. The lamp was very soft. It was compatible with kimchi. The sauce is good, there was added chilies for the sauce. You should try it when you come Sapporo.

Good mutton barbeque! Great service. Be reminded that your cloths and hair will get smoky. Nevertheless, its all worth it!

Visited here for Jinghiskhan which is a must try mutton barbecue when visiting Sapporo. There are lots of branches for Daruma, so you can pick one spot i guess. The wait was quite long, over an hour when visiting for dinner. Visit during earlier hours for faster seating. Every group gets a personal grill and it gets really stuffy/smokey in there. It was a good experience tho.

There is only one branch opening at lunch. It opens from 11:30 but we have been in queue since 11:15. Luckily, we could get seats right after it opened. The rice was so sticky and soft. The meat had no smell and taste umai.

I don’t understand what’s hype. The line is long. The food was bland. The sauce was bland, just soy sauce and sesame. The price is outrageous! One small plate cost ¥1650 to ¥1850 just for little meat. It came wirh onion and green onion. Rice is different price. We spent ¥11500 and still hungry. Will never come back. Sorry! 🥲🥲🥲

My husband and I very much enjoyed a relaxing few hours at this gorgeous park. It is very easy to get to and from via the subway and bus. We were somewhat confused at first as the buildings first encountered when entering the park appear deserted; however, it seems these are mainly used for workshops rather than displays. There is a magnificent display of varied ceramics and glassware that can also be purchased. The sculpture display is well worth the modest admission. It is expansive with an incredible array of sculptures, some quite thought provoking. There is only a buffet available for food and a dispenser for hot coffee (not good) so please think about food and from before heading here.

The place is huge —- be ready to hike. While there are clear paths, some art works are located on elevated grounds, requiring you to take the dirt path. The place is easily accessible by public transportation.

It’s a beautiful park surrounded by nature and luscious trees. It requires a hike to see all the sculptures, so wear comfy walking shoes. When you purchase a ticket, you receive a pamphlet and a map. It wasn’t as great as expected, and it’s more expensive than it’s worth.

Stunning collection of sculptures. Add this as a must do on your itinerary, so very peaceful. The artwork offered different perspectives - totally unexpected experience. Could have spent two days just in this art park. So much to see and experience.

It was definitely an experience and a fun thing to do. It’s a large park with a bunch of sculptures scattered around. Most of them are very abstract and esoterically named, so the meanings are up for argument, which was fun. On the day we went, it had just rained so the ground was muddy in a lot of places. Keep in mind the sculpture garden is pretty inaccessible in most places considering the terrain and elevation changes. That said, the park is situated in a great area just ten minutes away from the statue of the Buddha, which I recommend you check out as well given their proximity. Certainly a novel thing to do if you have nothing else better to do.

What a wonderful way to spend the day!! Engaging, timeless and interesting sculptures out in the open. The works of art and environment drew me in. I felt like a child entering a world of wonder. The fact that it’s out in nature between beautiful trees and forest made the visit all the more special. A great day out!

Tradition restaurant with top notch food and service. King crab is amazingly fresh and delicious. Reservation was made 1.5 months prior. Selected a course meal that serves 5 different ways of preparation (raw, grill, hot-pot, steam, tempura style) and end of with porridge from the water from steam pot. Even the sherbet dessert is amazingly smooth and fine. An indulging experience. Does help when one speaks Japanese to the service staff. She was amazing patient and served us with her heart.

One of the highlights in Sapporo for us. I booked the restaurant for 6 people, and everything was just perfect. The king crabs were the highlight obviously, and you'd get to taste the crab cooked in different ways. The service by the waitresses (one of whom was a trainee) were impeccable as well. Rounded the night perfectly for us. It was a memory to remember, and if possible I'd like to visit the restaurant again if possible.

Alive haircrab was soooo fresh. I love that this restaurant is quiet and you got your own private room. Service was good as well. Pricey but you knew it always comes with a good quality. Make sure that you make a reservation before you go there. 😊

This restaurant is actually on the third floor. There are both elevator and stairs. For lunch, the last order is at 2 PM even though they close at 3 PM. The menu is in English. We were seated inside a private room where we had to remove our shoes. We sat on the pillow on the ground. A lady server had to come in and out to bring all the stuff, including shabu shabu personal stove and even a grill for the grilled crabs. For lunch, I ordered the set menu ¥6820: appetizer, cold dish, udon, shabu shabu, crab croquette, and sherbet dessert. The food was excellent. I was so excited to try the fresh crab in Hokkaido! -Credit card accepted. -Free Wifi (the sign is on the elevator, but I didn't find any in the room)

Restaurant is well established with courses for you to choose from, the price is moderately higher but it is compensated by service and also taste that is moderately good for you to try Taraba and Hair crab, hair crabs are average but Taraba is really good.

Ordered the Hokkaido set JPY21,000 per head. All dishes are good, worth it. Must try. Reservation required.

After eating this meal, I no longer want to eat crab anymore. Got the crab kaiseki set for dinner and after the first couple of entrees, I started to get nauseous from eating crab. Also service was very rushed and not available..staff was in a rush. Had my lifetime's worth of crab here.

Fantastic Genghis Khan experience here! They specialise in only a few cuts and they're really tender and delicious. Needed to queue for around 30 mins on a weekday evening but the queue is indoors. They use charcoal stoves here so the meat cooks REALLY fast and chars beautifully. We liked the lamb shoulder the most because it browned the best. Spent only around 5600¥ for the two of us, with no otoshi. The staff were also welcoming and could speak some English. Make sure to ask for extra vegetables!

Best of Genghis khan meat in Sapporo. Easy to access. No need for reservation. Walk in very welcome. Greeting foreign travellers. Only open the entrance, owners always welcome you and try to find way to wait. I waited for about 10 minutes at the next door. Warm welcome and warm waiting room. I visited here second time alone about 8 pm with no queue, no need to wait. There were wardrobes to hang jackets, if you worried about smoke smell to your jackets. English menu was available in paper if you need to order, and QR code if you need for each meat descriptions. Genghis khan yakiniku is lamb meats. There were many kinds of lamb to select. The No.1 was the best. Each parts of lamb had their own characters. But every parts were delicious. Hot pan grilled with charcoal and you can eat yummy vegetables mixed with lamb fat after you grilled meats for a while. Price was very nice and very reasonable. You can come back again more than one time in your trip. Only one thing that annoyed me was smoking. Customer can smoke inside. No non-smoking area. Be consider for little children family. Highly recommend for every Sapporo trip. You taste the real Genghis khan lamb in Hokkaido style.

We were very disappointed by the service here because the staff was racist. We’ve been to Japan a lot and everyone was friendly except a guy here. We ordered a チャンジャ(fish kimchi) but we got the cabbage kimchi. The guy refused to fix it because we started eating. Maybe this is how things work in this store. For the rest of the night, we were totally ignored by the guy. He keeps adding veggies to people sitting next to our shoulders and never offer us any service at all. I guess the customer cannot ask questions about the food because we don’t speak Japanese. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Super experience in a very traditional Jingisukan in the heart of Susukino. Frequented by locals, long queue to enter, few selection of meet, close contact with other guests, great taste, in few words.. big fun! If you are searching for a true Sapporo soul, this is definitively your place!

Simple menu; not very many options. Very tight seating. Our dinner was ¥3,610 for two. Inexpensive and the food was decent. Drink was a bit watered down. The owner / staff are hilariously unfriendly; I don't think they mean it personally; they are probably just too busy as it is a high pace bar/restaurant and there are only two people serving. Only a single washroom is available on the top floor. Considering the price, it was still a positive experience. And the food must be decent enough quality as there were quite many local patrons. But definitely don't come for special occasions...

Small restaurant but it has 2 floors, over the counter dinning. They also have English menu. The meat was delicious, and it doesn't have the lamb-y smell when you eat. I like the fattier cut meat but beware of the jumpy hot fat when you grill it. Having the meat with dipping sauce (please add garlic and dry chilli) is so mouth watering. Just like any bbq restaurant, be ready for your clothes to smell of smoke.

This restaurant is fairly simple. I love the atmosphere. It feels like being in a big wooden cottage or cabin with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The jingisukan (mutton) was so fresh and flavorful. But my favorite was the dipping sauce that comes with it. Everything is grilled on charcoal grill. The menu is fairly simple and straightforward. The only meat available is the mutton and it comes in a set with everything you need. Even if you get here early, you will have to wait in line, but there should be plenty of tables and seating.

All you can eat and drink! Hoho… with killer view… the meat, yummmy and fresh! The summer will be the best that you can eat outside with summer breeze… *you can order beside the all you can eat menu.

The tour was very informative and interesting. All in Japanese, but they gave me an English leaflet that explained everything. If you are interested in dairy products in recommend taking the tour. You need to book a time slot, which is think you can do online, but i did it in person and then just waited for the tour to begin.

I really enjoyed the plant tour but make sure you have advance reservations. All in Japanese but they give you English pamphlets if you need. Learnt a lot on the Snow brand. At end of tour, they give complimentary milk and souvenir. Note that no photography allowed during tour and they provide free locker at the assembly area.

Don't come without reservations. It took me 19 mins walking from the station with my two kids in the rain, and at the entrance, I was told that it was full today so I cannot visit unless there is a guided tour. Had a great experience at the tour even the tour is in Japanese and we are foreigners. The free tour show us how 雪印 milk products were made, and show case the milk production factory. Please note that reservation a day prior is required and they run 3 tours per day. They are very kind to let us join the tour when we turned up without reservation.

One of the best things happening in Sapporo where the museum will need to wait for guides to show you around, including manufacturing processes as it happens. Also, Yamamoto 樣 is the best! She took care of both of us dearly during the trip and so so kind. Thank you so much!

Got the set menu with drinks for 50k yen/person. It was good, but would not recommend this. Rather, would recommend buying items a la carte only. You get a much better value and more interesting pieces of lamb, more choices. Unfortunately for their English menu, they only have set course. Japanese menu is much larger. You'll have to struggle with the language barrier to order a la carte if you can't read/speak Japanese, but the challenge will be worth it should you go through with it this way.

Amazing dining experience! Tried Genghis Khan several times in Sapporo before and was looking to find something unique and special. Was glad to find Yuuhi's restaurant. The service was superb, do your reservation early! I just went straight in for the special cuts and salt-cured meats! Tasted amazing!

The staff, their smiling helpfulness, the awesome food each and everything was simply outstanding. We tried a reservation, it was full, but, it was our last night in Sapporo, so we decided to go directly and request if we can get a table. Unbelievably, the were smilingly accepted our request. They helped in every aspect almost out of the way, recommending the food, the meat cut, the portion, everything. So nice staff. No doubt the have the biggest fan base. We've became their fan too. The food was simply outstanding and the salt cure lamb was undoubtedly one of the best in our life. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Thank you so much team Yuuhi. You rule. We were very lucky to found this place on google maps. We had no reservation, so we had to wait for around 40 minutes. Not a problem since the place is in the shopping district, the waiting time went by easily. The lamb meat was so tender and well prepared! We got their recommendation which was the thick cut steak and the premium cut lamb chuck. We also got the sausage which was exceptionally juicy! All of the staffs were very friendly! No wonder this place is a favourite. I highly recommend this place!

Delicious lamb bbq (genghis khan) and super friendly service. We tried the premium salt aged lamb loin and the extra thick salt aged lamb steak and enjoyed both. If Hokkaido asparagus is in season, definitely get this too - it’s probably the best I’ve had. This restaurant seems to be really popular with both locals and tourists so would recommend either booking in advance or coming at 5pm when they open to minimise waiting!

We did not make an reservation however we were luckily able to enter without waiting. The meats are amazingly good. I haven't smell any lamb smell. Ordered green onions rice as well and it's very good. I recommend not to order thick steak meat because it was hard to cook perfectly. Try to order thin one so that you can cook and eat easily. Staffs are very kind and nice too.

Had a great experience here! The lamb assortments were delicious—tender, not gamey at all. Staff were super helpful, especially for English speakers. The updated price list for the All-You-Can-Eat lamb menu + All-You-Can-Drink draft beers makes it totally worth it. Funny enough, we only found this place thanks to our friend Karlsson—was hard to spot earlier, probably because it shows up in Japanese Katakana on Google Maps. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is located in 10 floor. I have no reservation before, and I came at 8.30 pm. Because it is busy, one of the staff said that i need to wait for about 1 hour. So I decided to go around the city center first and went back to the restaurant at 9.30 pm. I tried thick-cut salt-cured lamb steak and premium salt-cured lamb chuck. For me, I recommend ordering the thin slices lamb, maybe because I am not really good at cooking the lamb steak. There is also all-you-can eat lamb and drinks for about 4800ish yen. And this restaurant accept JCB card.

One of the main attractions of Otaru however I expected a bit more from this place. There is just simple walk with busy streets on side with loud cars. Didn’t find it very relaxing. The food was incredibly delicious — a bit pricier than usual, but totally worth it for the flavor and generous portions. As evening approached, the canal area became even more magical. The lights reflecting on the water created such a romantic and cozy atmosphere. Don’t miss the nearby walking street either — it’s beautiful both in the afternoon and at night, with lovely decorations and warm lights. Tried the Otaru Canal cruise for 1800 yen. It's a great experience learning about the history of Otaru. For non-Japanese people, there are audio guides in English, Korean and Chinese. The cruise lasts for 40 minutes. I am the only foreigner on this activity. Highly Recommended .

I was recommended this restaurant by a staff member and decided to take my family there. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite meet our expectations. The space felt a bit unhygienic, and the atmosphere was not what we hoped for. We tried the dumplings, but they didn't resonate with us, so we decided to leave shortly after. While it may have its fans, I didn't find it worth the hype or the Uber fare. It could be a nice spot for photos, but dining there wasn’t what we were looking for.

Ramen taste was just flat, salty and oily. But they have reasonable price with lamb topping. Gyoza not spicy at all and the space quite small. For muslim, I think there is possibility of non halal contamination because they sold pork too.

A very popular restaurant with only about 15 chairs. I queued for nearly an hour. When it came to ordering, they had already run out of the cuts of lamb that I wanted. So I was recommended the lamb shoulder which was tasty and so was the sauce that came with it. The guy who demonstrated the cooking process was nice. My biggest reasons for marking this place down: 1. They just gave an appetiser to me that I never ordered. I do literally mean they gave it to me. They didn't even ask me if I would like it, it was just placed down on my table and they said "Here is your appetiser". It was some weird potato thing in a titchy bowl that I didn't like and didn't eat, but I thought it was part of a set. When it came to paying, they added that appetiser to my bill. It was not part of any set. I challenged the member of staff and he said to think of it as service charge. I wasn't happy about it especially because it was ¥880 for such a small bowl that I never asked for nor did I enjoy. 2. It just took forever to get the food even once seated. 3. I don't think it was good value for money. I would advise others to eat somewhere else. The place in general very much felt like it was too catered for westerners. I would have preferred a more authentic Japanese experience

This is the second shop close to the main shop on the other side of the same building, for those without reservation. If arriving at dining hours, probably have to wait outside at a narrow corridor for 45mins or more. There were closets for jacket and basket under desk for bags. Ordered a ‘stair set’ 階段盛り, ‘vegetable set’ 野菜盛り, draft beer’ and ‘Plum wine in rock’. The staff would explain the way of grilling and prepare the first wave of meat for you. Different parts of lamb were all very tender and surprisingly without any stinky lamb smell, that made the lamb flavor very outstanding. The vegetables were fresh, but kind of in dry side as all veggies wasn’t juicy enough and would not produce water/juice upon heating. Draft beer was easy to drink as without any bitterness, yet less carbonated compared to canned beer. Plum wine was up to bar, not the kind with strong plum flavor. Total ¥5910 with ¥330 extra fee. Staff were all very helpful and able to speak English and simple Korean. The quality of lamb definitely worth and comeback!

Best dining experience in Sapporo so far! I specifically chose this place for my Jingitsukan (Genghis Khan) experience in Sapporo, and I would say it goes beyond my expectation. The meat is so tender, no funky lamb smell and the dipping sauce was so good. I was initially planning to had only a modest meal yet it turned out I had my second round of meat after tasting it. I ended up ordering two lamb chops, one lamb shoulder roast and one marinated meat in a pot for just one person. The staffs, Katz-san is multi lingo, he speaks Bahasa Indonesia, English, Japanese. Along with Kamaru-san (fellow Indonesian) and the other bro (unfortunately we haven't exchanged name yet (Gomenasai) they were all very welcoming and friendly. We chatted, we laughed and kanpai together. Overall, I would say it is one of the best dining experience in Sapporo and please be sure to experience it yourself.

A great find .. love the atmosphere and the foods. The lambs and muttons are tender, and even yummier with the dipping sauce and pickled topping. The staffs are so friendly, he can chat very well in many languages even in Bahasa Indonesia. Despite this meal Jingisukan has no direct relation to Gengish Khan .. but it shares common passion, uniting people across borders :). We feel welcome in this cosy joint and happy to share laughs and chats with the multi-lingual staffs and other diners, locals and overseas.

The meat was quite delicious, grilled to perfection with that smoky flavor. In order to eat there, they also force you to order a drink for each person. The staff were polite and spoke English well, making it easy to navigate the menu. My biggest complaint was that the clothing wardrobe cabinet behind the seat felt quite oily. I also wished they'd provided plastic bags, like some other Genghis Khan restaurants do, to keep smells off your jacket or bag.

They had an English menu and it was very easy to specify what we wanted. The servers were always quick to respond and got things out fast. One thing with the all you can eat menu is, you have to order each individual item you want, as they don't all automatically come. The mutton was very different tasting from what we have in Canada as it wasn't very gamey. It was delicious though and paired very well with rice! Good value for your money too. I do wish they would change the grill plate after a while as the burnt bits get a little much but I understand they probably want to discourage people eating so much meat.

Date of visit : 28 Apr 2023 Time : 12.30 pm We stumbled upon this by chance while walking along Tanukikoji Shopping Street. It’s located in the basement. The interior is quite warm and inviting. Place looks nice and the waitresses are welcoming. We only wanted the wagyu so we ordered 3 types. And 1 beef “hormone” - not quite sure what it is. Only the beef “hormone” is not fantastic to us. Otherwise all the wagyu is delicious. I even finished 2 bowls of rice. Very good service and beef wagyu.

We came early for yakiniku lunch and was blown away by the service here. The waitress knew what we needed, without us asking… like a new pair of chopstick when I dropped it… more water when we drink finish ours. The meat is good and we totally enjoyed the meal here. Definitely worth coming back!
