We visited Nijo Market during our time in Sapporo and loved every bit of it. The atmosphere was lively and filled with the scent of fresh seafood. Stalls were lined with beautiful displays of crabs, scallops, sea urchins, and more—it was a feast for the senses even before tasting anything. After browsing around, we decided to sit down for lunch at one of the small stalls inside the market. We ordered fresh kaisendon and grilled seafood—everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The seafood bowl was overflowing with tuna, salmon roe, sweet shrimp, and uni, and it was easily one of the best meals we had during our Hokkaido trip. The staff at the stall were warm and welcoming, even helping us with recommendations. The kids also enjoyed walking around afterward, checking out other stalls and watching the seafood being cleaned and grilled on the spot. There’s a very local, down-to-earth feel about the whole place, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Nijo Market is more than just a place to buy seafood—it’s a window into Hokkaido’s food culture and a great spot for a satisfying, authentic lunch in Sapporo.

A good location to visit for an experience of a local Market. The place is nice and clean. There are many seafood restaurants here. We came before 8am and there were queues in front of most of the restaurants already. Other than restaurants there are many stalls Selling everything from seafood to dry goods to fruits. The stall staff were all very friendly and warm. Overall a good interesting place with good vibes to visit in Sapporo.

Went to Nijo market around 1pm to look for the red Hanasaki crab which is in season: May-August. Chanced upon a stall （有）山下水産。Selected a medium size Hanasaki crab and bargained with seller. All friendly and good! The workers warmed it up and cut the crab 😄. Lots of meat and tasted very good. There’s sweetness in the meat and everybit is flavorful. It was enough for three of us (adults). Definitely a must try in Sapporo.

A very popular spot in Sapporo, mainly you can enjoy see food here, as choosing the most local people where line up, if you want the whole menu then you better come early, like 10 PM, or many items may sold out.

Got some Sandria sandwiches, I got teritama, choco minto and tonkatsu and the bill was 970円. The sandwiches are pretty big with alot of filling. Everything was very fresh. I would recommend over conbini sandos since theyre around the same price. However Sandria can get very busy so you may need to wait.

The best part is definitely the price. I’d say the sour sandos are the highlight my favorite is the potato salad. The sweet sandos are good too, but not worth waiting in line for.

The savory sandwiches were great for the price, and particularly the mayo egg one. The fruit sandwiches were mid. Visited mainly to pay pilgrims for its history. Cold sandwiches may never beat a delicious hot meal. 3.5 stars.

The main shop is 24 hours operation, it is nearly 25 minute walk from Sapporo station. There is also a sandwich vending machine at Sapporo station, bendy machine is running from 6 AM until 8 PM. The fruit sandwich is very delicious. You must try it.

We love this very homemade style onigiri restaurant! It’s incredible that it opens for 24 hours. A dedicated team are always busy making their assorted riceballs to order. They are all friendly and we always felt welcomed when we visited the store. The riceballs are made fresh and hot, and you can choose from the various (and very many!) fillings you’d like in their menu. We love the tarako butter one a lot! They also serve side dishes and soup (tonjiru/miso shiru).

My favorite dinner place while I was staying in Susukino. Been here many times in a week 😂 The spicy natto onigiri is really good!

Overall, a surprising letdown. I would not recommend it. Food is good, but not worth the price (nearly 4,000¥). Plenty of better options nearby. Food is good with wide range of selection but limited in traditional western breakfast items. Turnaround for fresh dishes seemed to take a while, as items would run out and then seem to not be replaced, or at least not quickly. Service was so so at best. It’s all self serve, with nobody coming to take old dishes away. You pay up front before entering, so you don’t know what is available before you pay and get seated. Atmosphere is loud, busy and cramped when busy. Location is easy to find, and is co-located with a hotel. Overall, would not recommend this place due to price. The lack of variety and service is the second reason I would not recommend and will not be returning.

Stayed in Lagent and decided to have breakfast. Great buffet with enough options including oden and Hokkaido specialties like fried chicken zangi, crab miso soup. Level 2 of hotel.

We had a lovely half buffet lunch here for 2,000 yen per person. Great food, great coffee, and nice ambience. The staff let us sit, take our time, and talk. A good selection of salad, bread, fruit and a choice of a main dish. We also got a view of the famous Ferris wheel from the window. Definitely worth a visit to this great restaurant.

I went for the lunch buffet which was about ¥2000~¥2300 per person. Included appetizer and salad buffet. They had a good selection and they usually have 3 main dishes to choose from. The food was very good and healthy. I wanted to take pictures but the atmosphere stopped me...lol. I'm definitely will be going back to try breakfast and dinner.

Everything we tried was ridiculously fresh and flavorful, from the uni and ikura to the sweet crab and melt-in-your-mouth sashimi (especially the otoro). The staff were warm, accommodating, and spoke English well, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Whether you’re into seafood bowls, sashimi platters, or crab rice bowls, this is the spot. This place definitely needs to be in everyone's bucketlist for Sapporo.

This was not the first time I have been there. In this fish market, kitano is one of my favourite. Friday now they open to 2:30 later than other shop. You can choose your favourite seafood to steam or raw to eat. They speak well English and explained well ,now uni not from Hokkaido many is from Russia, coz out of season. But still good worth to try.

Still have good standard n all dishes we order were delicious , which is seafood and all super fresh, except botan shrimp as it frozen n out of it season. Busy w tourists n local alike. It seems they keep down first floor space for local n allocate upstairs eat for foreigner, I don’t like that. Very good service n polite staff. Very efficient. Sea urchins is super fresh which not do commons on many Japanese restaurants in Japan.

I only wish I came with more people so I could order a big fat snow crab to share. The seafood bowls were very nice, seafood is fresh. Place is huge with a large market on the 1st floor. Will definitely come back if I’m ever in Sapporo.

We ordered donburi (raw seafood bowl) and a 2.3 kg king crab, which we selected from the crab tanks. We got the crab boiled, however, you also have the option to get it grilled or sashimi (raw). You can also do half and half. The crab was meaty, juicy and delicious. The seafood bowl was really good too, especially the salmon roe. The wait time for cooking the crab was too long. They told us 40mins, however, it took well over 1 hour. I would recommend ordering something light if you happen to go there on an empty stomach.

Terrible buffet for the price. Dinner at 6,000 yen is completely unjustified when compared to it's competitors in the area. It has a nice name and the location is pretty central, located inside the Sapporo Grand Hotel. That's the best compliment I can give the place. The food selection is very small, and the quality is not great either. There are no real signature food items for the place. The interior is a bit dated as well. The service is fine and if you happen to drink, there is a fairly decent selection of wine and Sapporo draft. But really the food is so disappointing. Go nearby to Tsuruga or Sky J buffet instead. Not even a close comparison.

This restaurant serves buffet breakfast and lunch. The buffet selection is limited compared to many others in the world. Meal items are bite-size and there are more bread choices than meat and vegetables. An Italian style cooking. Taste is not very delicious.

Had a morning buffet there, it has a pretty good variety of food to choose from! From sashimi to sausages and eggs etc, it has most of them. However even though the variety is large, maybe the quality isn’t perfect, but still it’s a really really good breakfast buffet and it’s still way above average!

It's a spacious cafe and restaurant on the ground floor of the Grand Hotel. We also could enjoy just sweets and tea, which was a good time.

It’s my second time been in Japan but first time in Hokkaido. This Starbucks is close to my hotel and convenient for me to order coffee. There was a sweet and cute staff makes me so impressed, she even remembered to give menu in English to me in that morning. Hope to make friends with her if I still has chance been here😄

About half of seats are along window but there are no shades, the sunlight shines directly to the seats in the morning, we have to bear it. It is obviously not comfortable.

Maccas with a view! Perfect place to sit and enjoy a Big Mac whilst watching the world go by. Fast and efficient service, food was fresh and delicious. Great alternative for the kids since we were all sushi-ed and ramen-ed out after 3 weeks. Go at night and let the Whiskey Dude watch you scoff down your chosen burger!

Food is McD's standard, but the location is right in the Susukino junction where lots of people taking photos with the popular billboards around the junction. It has seats along the glass window so you can dine while looking at the billboard and watching people taking photos. :)

Visited this McDonald’s location for breakfast and it is a great spot to sit and watch the Sapporo traffic pass by as you eat. It wasn’t very busy when we went (about 8am) and the eating area is quite large, so we were able to get a good seat easily. By the time we left about an hour later it was a little busier but not too bad. It was a clean and tidy location and we felt comfortable sitting in there for a long period. They had some music playing for ambience which was a nice touch from the usual beeping sounds we get from McDonald’s in Australia! When you go in you are directly in front of the counter and need to line up and order straight away. There’s not much room to stand there and look at the menu. They also don’t have kiosk ordering here. The girl at the counter was polite and friendly, and was very patient with our limited Japanese. The menu was in both Japanese and English with photos so it was helpful to be able to point at things! Once you order you wait in the same area to collect your food and then you can take it upstairs to eat. Food was prepared very quickly, but we were the only customers there at the time so perhaps that helped. The food itself was pretty standard McDonald’s breakfast food, but was high quality compared to what we get in Australia.

Wife not feeling well so we decided to have dinner at our hotel restaurant ガーデンダイニング 環樂. Service was acceptable but kinda feel that they are being judgemental when we walked in. Sashimi was great thou portion could be bigger. Also got the grilled wagyu beef and no surprise there as it was very good. Also realise that there is no salmon and noodles in the menu. Felt that there isn't much variety. Ambience was alright but overall decor look bland. We had a lovely experience dining at Garden Dining Waraku. The service was outstanding, and our server who spoked perfect English was so attentive to ensure our meal was completed before serving dessert. It was one of our best meal and experience in Sapporo.

I went here for Japanese set breakfast, its included in the price for the stay overnight. Overall speaking I was disappointed about the quality of the food. The main dish, grilled salmon, is not fresh and tasted fishy. The pollack roe is very very salty. The miso soup smells bad when you drink it. The pink plum is extremely sour and salty, making it hardly eatable. The fresh fruit doesn’t taste fresh but feels like it has been soaked in water with melted white sugar. Other dishes are average. The Japanese styled garden is wonderful, but we are not arranged to be seating close to the window seat even there is some vacant tables. The star is for the garden.

If this is what fast food is like in Japan, don’t bother with western fast food options.

One of the best value stays I've had in Japan. At ¥3500 per night in winter, I'd say it's reasonable. They offer self-serve pastries, drinks, and ice cream for free from 3 PM to 10 PM, or until supplies last. The lounge and dining area give a rustic and cozy vibe. They literally have a mini-library of manga (in Japanese). You can get basic room amenities in front of the reception. My room was cleaned daily, even without asking or posting. You can do your laundry and just pay for the dryer for ¥100 per 30-minute cycle. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Nakajimakoen Station. The WiFi speed is sporadic, though. The spa is closed indefinitely (a bummer). I don't think the room was soundproofed because I could hear other guests next door, and I definitely smelled tobacco when the exhaust was off, but they do provide air fresheners. The bed and pillows are stiff (another bummer). Those are my only criticisms. They have excellent service and will consider this hotel again.

It's hard to compete with the value this hotel provides. I tend to look for the cheapest hotels possible when traveling Japan and this was the cheapest by a good margin in my time traveling in 2025. The rooms were nice and slightly larger than the typical budget hotels. Located on the bottom tip of Susukino, it's a short walk from the metro or up the main downtown strip. The main things that differentiated this hotel for me from the others I've stayed in Japan was the delicious 500 yen breakfast and free drinks and snacks throughout most of the day in the lobby. So, I miss this hotel very much. The onsen will always remove my fatigue after my day trip. During shower water flow is high and the water temperature is just right. After Onsen, I could always enjoy the Yogurt drink. They provide many comic/manga however it is in Japanese version. The hotel restaurant is so cozy, I love to sit there to have my meal and watch the pedestrians walking in the street. They also provide some fresh bread daily from 3pm-6pm, Ice cream with different topping, and drink. The room was cleaned up daily. only 1 thing could be improved which is the toilet bowl should come with a warm temperature feature. The location is walking distance to subway and the garden. 2 stations aways from Sapporo Station.

Location was great and it's a short, straightforward walk to the train stations and city centre.
