Beer hall
Beer garden
Mutton barbecue restaurant
Sapporo Beer Garden is a must-visit destination for beer and barbecue enthusiasts. Located in a former factory, it offers contemporary spaces for enjoying draft beers and all-you-can-eat barbecues. The cluster of restaurants within the garden includes atmospheric European beer halls and the more refined Garden Grill restaurant. Visitors can savor Sapporo's iconic dish jingisukan, featuring tender lamb meat and seasonal vegetables cooked on a special metal dome-skillet.
Good grilled hot pan. What recommended was the lamp and variety of sapporo beer! 🍺 The atmosphere kinda feels like canteen but people come here to have a good time in a big table or group. With the snow outside make the vibe always feel like Christmas! 🎄 😆
WWendy W — Google review
The taste and atmosphere at the Sapporo Beer Garden were truly excellent. We really enjoyed our time there. One downside, however, was that we were a group of four, and one of us is a vegetarian. We had to order the meat buffet for all four of us and then add a separate seafood dish just for the vegetarian, which was a bit disappointing. Still, it’s definitely worth visiting at least once!
Ellen — Google review
The beer from here on tap tastes much better than the canned Sapporo I'm used to. Good selection of alcoholic beverages even with the cheapest all you can drink option. Food was fantastic, it's set up in a style in which there is a slight grade on the grille so juices from meat being grilled on the center will move down to the sides and infuse with the vegetables cooking on the edges. When you ordered more lamb, pork, chicken, drinks, etc on the tablet provided workers or serving robots will be bringing it to your table within 30-60 seconds. Bags were provided as well to customers to put jackets in if needed to keep them from smelling like smoke, I found it to be far less smokey inside though then other grill your own meat places I've been to in the past.

Not a beer fan, but this was part of our must see list. The 1-hour free tour of the museum was interesting. Learned about Sapporo beer’s humble beginnings & its remarkable journey through the years. Tried the much talked about Genghis Khan meal at the Lilac Hall. Reservation required. Tried booking in for a weekend but they filled out quickly. Ended up with a Monday reservation instead. It was easier for us to take the 88 bus from our hotel as this drove straight to the venue.
Cynthia R — Google review
This is a review for the restaurant only. I did not go in the museum or shops. Reservation is required, and I could not find out how to book online. You need to call them. It turns out there were different buildings, and I didn't know which one to enter. I gave the host my confirmation number, and he directed me where to go. I opted for the all-you-can-eat for ¥7500 a person and the all-you-can-drink (alcohol) ¥1800. (For soft drinks only, it is ¥800.) There were many cuts of lamb. You place the first order with the server, but the rest of the time you can order via tablet. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The lamb egg roll was surprisingly delicious! At the end of the meal, of course the smoke smell will cling to your hair and clothes. They gave me a plastic bag to cover my belongings and place it in the bin under the seat. After eating, you notify the server that you are ready to pay. Then you bring the slip/clipboard out to the cashier. Credit card accepted. Bathroom available. Wifi - unsure

The Sapporo Beer Garden, Day three First order of the day was to get a pair of replacement shoes, a corn was too demanding & shoes to tight, found an amazing store (Shoe-Plaza) and they had my size, trip saved! Now that I could potter along, the boss suggested we try the Sapporo Beer Garden! Off we went, and once again, driving in Japan is such a pleasure, I wish we had that kind off attitude, courtesy and all in Singapore & Malaysia! But I think there is a fat chance that will ever happen! 😢 The Beer Garden, right next to the Beer Museum, had both inside & outdoor seating, we opted for the outdoors, albeit overcast it was still very comfy! Service was swift, our server spoke decent English helped us with our order (normally they put a pad in your hands & you click & order) The place specialises on Lamb, but beef, seafood & veggies also available, albeit a small selection! You cook yourself, on the grill pretty much the same as Korean BBQ, which is fun & you always have the hottest food to savour! The beer of course was exceptional, perfect for this type of cookery! We had Squid & Prawn for madam, the squid was perfect! Me of course Lamb shoulder sliced, they had the set called Genghis Khan which included veggies, I added the Beef fingers as they called it, plus a baked potato of sorts, with butter, best I had in years! But be aware, only one type of sauce/dip served, had a bit of a teriyaki flavour! Food was good, service perfect, over all ambience Smokie but fun! Value for money for sure! We enjoyed this, and it sees to be a massively popular spot for the locals! (Indoor seating 90 minutes wait, but advance reservation accepted! #sapporo #Japantravels #MarketAdventures #gourmettravels #selfdrivingholidays #hokkaido #sapporobeergarden #sapporobeer #sapporobrewery

I loved the Genghis Khan grilled lamb—it was tender and flavorful. The all-you-can-eat yakiniku was a great value, and grilling it myself made the experience even more fun. Excellent beer selection, friendly staff, and beautiful brewery-style decor. Highly recommend!
Michael S — Google review
Delicious food at a great price! Got the 2 hrs AYCE course for 4500 yen which came with some entrés and more cuts of meat compared to the 3800 yen course. The entrés were good (I ate some before taking a picture.) The meat was delicious. I enjoyed cooking it, letting it rest in the sauce and then devouring them 😋

Nestled near Nakajima-Koen Station, Beer Inn Mugishutei has been a beloved craft beer bar in Sapporo since its establishment in 1980. With an impressive collection of over 300 beers from 50 countries, including the unique Ezo label by owner Phred Kaufman's Rogue Brewery, this brewpub is a haven for beer enthusiasts. One must-try is the Hascup Ale, featuring local Hokkaido berries.
Phred is the man! If you like beer, great spirits like Don Papa 10yr or Cask Strength Sherry Finish Rums and pub/bar food, then this is where you need to go. Insane selection of craft beers from around the world, including the USA. His team provides great swift service and are very knowledgeable. Highly Recommend making a stop you won't regret it!
Trevor L — Google review
Amazing place that specializes in beer with over 250 types to choose from! You can either order from their menu, or have fun selecting them from their big fridge and get a mug for each of them. Seeing all types and assortments its really an endless night of "which one next"! And there's the vibe. 90s music playing, all the good vibes songs from that era mix in with the beer and you have a perfect night. Finally there is the food. Special mention to their pizza and wedges/nuggets platter. Mindblowing and goes so well with all the drinks as well, kanpeiki desu! Gochizosama deshita!
James A — Google review
Such a beer haven for lovers of great beer in Sapporo. Love talking with Phred a real iconic character. This place is a must stop on your beer tour of the Great city of Sapporo.
Pablo N — Google review
An absolute must visit for any beer lover coming to Sapporo. Real history and weight to the place, decent food, and an unparalleled selection of bottles and cans. Great recommendations too. The owner is very nice and happy to chat. Located close to suskino in a slightly sketchy area, but full of charm. Will always make a visit.
Christopher — Google review
Amazing space that has grown organically over the last 40+ years- that already speaks to its quality. The owner (Phred) is a very charismatic, friendly and helpful guy who gave us plenty suggestions based on our preferences and helped us out with suggestions for our onward journey to boot. There's a vast assortment of excellent beer and cider available and great early 2000s TV being shown. There are old bottles and cans and caps EVERYWHERE including the ceiling which adds a lot of visual interest.
Killian M — Google review
As a beer lover, everyone will tell you to go here and they are right. The atmosphere and style is unmissable, and I spent an evening watching the 1995 VH1 honours concert - so earnest and so pointless. The staff are friendly and service is efficient. The food is at the level of Northern European bars, which is not great in Japan, but does the job. We came for beer, so what did we get? Six foreign taps, which did not excite me, and several fridges, which did initially. Wide selection, from across the world, but mostly brands that were good 10 years ago. The prices are reasonable (apart from Japanese beers that are half the price in the centre), but then I wonder if they have been transported “cold”. No, they have not, the hops are dead, so IPAs are not as intended…go for the other options. Also, not impressed by the explanation that there is a new “tax” so credit card payments cost more…just say there is a surcharge or make it cash only if you are playing these games. An experience, but go for that and look for great beer elsewhere in the city.
Adam F — Google review
The atmosphere is incredible, Tons of different varieties of beer and great early 2000s TV, but.. A 2000 yen charge for 6 small pieces of bread I never ordered, placed on the table without any indication of the price. Unexpected from an otherwise great establishment. Highly reccomend for the vibes, but if you just want to sit down for a beer or two, you’re better off going somewhere that wont give you a sneaky charge.
Akio — Google review
Fantastic bar with an enormous selection of craft beer and a decent selection of whiskey and other spirits. This basement bar is a bit off the main drag but definitely worth the trip. If you are into craft beer, your Sapporo trip will not be complete without a visit to Beer Inn Mugishutei.

If you're a fan of Nikka whiskey, THE NIKKA BAR is the place to be. Located in Japan, this cozy bar offers a wide selection of Nikka whiskeys, allowing you to sample different varieties through tasting sets or by ordering from the menu. While there's a seating and service charge, it's worth it for the top-notch service and inviting atmosphere with jazz music playing in the background. The bar also serves wonderful cocktails and whiskey-infused chocolate truffles.
We enjoyed the Japanese whisky here and the setting was nice with the whisky displayed against the windows looking out onto the city lights. The service and piano music were wonderful too. We tried to go again tonight and asked if we had a reservation, unfortunately they were fully booked up. Reservations are by phone only.
Scott S — Google review
Spotting the iconic Nikka Whisky signboard in Sapporo's Susukino district piqued our interest in finding a place to sample their whiskies. We discovered this establishment and, despite not having a reservation, hoped to find space at the counter bar. Upon entry, we were informed of a seating charge, which we readily accepted as it's customary in Japan. We were initially led to a table, but seeing the empty bar, we asked to be seated there. While the first staff member declined, another kindly accommodated our request. We savored a whisky tasting flight, three additional drinks, and two snacks, thoroughly enjoying our time. We'll certainly be back before leaving Sapporo.
Sawit K — Google review
Love coming to THE NIKKA BAR. I come here everytime i’m in Sapporo. Such a Nice staff here and very good priced whiskey. I reccomend it to everyone! All money spent here is worth it!
Tobias S — Google review
It was a nice place on the 4F(?) of a building. We didn't visit the Nikka distillery this time, but were able to try the whiskey and high balls. The complementary chocolate were delicious. It's a tad more expensive but we enjoyed our time here. It was quite quiet depending where you were seated.
Joshua N — Google review
What a fantastic whiskey tasting experience!!! The bar is moody with jazzy cafe vibes. Views are great and the whiskey is super. Got to sample some rare bottles while enjoying great company and a Cuban cigar. A must do if you’re in the area. The only drawback is that they don’t sell whisky by the bottle here, so you can’t stock up for your collection.
Buyisiwe V — Google review
Lovely vibes and music. We got the whiskey flight which came with a nice informative card in English about each whiskey. The berry cocktail is more a smoothie and doesn’t taste like there’s much alcohol in it. Tastes nice like a dessert The honey highball is highly recommended The waiters don’t speak English very well but are welcoming. This bar allows smoking indoors
Steph Y — Google review
I was looking for a bar that accepts foreigners in Susukino, after a long search I just tried my luck here. This bar is a Nikka specialty with tasting menus and set. You can even buy and keep the bottles here. There’s a live performance by the pianist. Overall great vibes.
Andy P — Google review
Went there at 7 on a Friday, was told we had to leave by 7:30 because it was only reservation after that even though at 7:30 there was no one waiting to come in. Whisky selection was poor and prices were high. 1100 yen/person plus 10% table charge. Do not recommend. Over priced.

Flair Bar Es is the only flair bar in Sapporo's Susukino district, where talented bartenders showcase their bottle-flipping skills every night at 11pm. The bar offers a unique experience with old Nintendo consoles available for patrons to play classic games like Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong while enjoying their drinks. This spacious watering hole provides a lively atmosphere and entertainment beyond the typical bar scene, making it a must-visit spot in Sapporo.
I visited with a friend on a Friday night in January. We arrived around 7.30pm and the bar was relatively empty. But soon customers started coming in and soon it was packed. There are games to play, but some customers can be a little to loud for others. when they are drunk. You get a nice view of the Suzukino junction from the main window. You scan the QR code from your phone and start ordering. The service was relatively fast. At 10.30pm there was a flair performance by the bartenders
Bhanuka S — Google review
We came earlier in the evening bar didn't have any of the showmanship. Unlike what was advertised. It looked like they have a show around 22:30. Maybe better later at night.

First time go to bar in Japan. All staff is very friendly. The mood of the bar is so good to get some good drink. Very skilled bartender and they also have show. Also Friendly local people that recommend us to go to local Ramen shop. Definitely will go again if we have chance to go to Sapporo.

This was the best time I've ever had in Japan!! If you want a nice place with excellent cocktails, food and service, the Flair Bar Es is for you!! But what about the view? From the 8th floor you can have the best view in Sapporo from a place lake this! I'm very happy to have met Sora and Ryu who gave us the warmest welcome of all, treated us professionally but with sympathy! It was very fun being your guests and we are looking forward to come back !! :)

One of the best bars I've ever been in! The atmosphere is amazing, there are a lot of friendly local people and a professional and very nice stuff. A must visit bar when visiting Sapporo!

Great atmosphere with very friendly staff. We were greeted by Kaz who gave us amazing seats by the window overlooking the streets because we had to wait 10min. The food is delicious and drinks like the Army shot and Seperated Long Island are fun. Also a great show of flair bartending times to music.

Really great hip hop/r'n'b music with good cocktails! Reasonably priced as well! The ski drinks and beer tower made it super fun. They also have board games for everyone to enjoy. The bartenders are super talented too!

Yamazaki is a renowned cocktail joint known for its quaint and old-school charm. The bar was founded by the legendary mixologist Yamazaki Ichiro, who ran the establishment for over 50 years and received numerous international bartending awards, including the prestigious Emperors Imperial Prize in 1993. The venue is celebrated for its excellent service and dedicated bartenders who continue to uphold the tradition of crafting creative cocktails.
A place of worship for cocktail fans. The original Sapporo is well balanced. Plenty of local whiskey choices as well.
Alan C — Google review
Cool classic style bar in SUSUKINO area. Tiny but cozy place. The drinks are 1uote pricey though. The bartender's and staff are super accomodating. Somehow, I did not like the Sapporo drinks. The Kyoto ginnis certainly flavorful.
Mai S — Google review
First cocktail bar in Sapporo Yamazaki Bar since 1958. The vibe is great and the bartenders are highly skilled. There is a seating charge and service charge which is for locals and tourists. Also no smoking allowed. I came with a local friend and got the Japanese menu and most cocktails were 1500-1800円。 Tried the Sapporo, Skydiving, and California. The bartenders are very meticulous and the drinks were very tasty. The Sapporo is a drink that won best cocktail in the 1980s that the original owner won in Europe. Highly recommend the Sapporo and to come try this bar it has a great atmosphere.

Lovely place for a quiet drink. Great collection for whisky and gin drinkers. Plus award-winning cocktails, including locally sourced ones. Staff are knowledgeable and kind.

Bar Yamasaki is good at cocktails, actually, they are great at cocktails. Came here for a night cap and the staff was kind and super talented at making all kinds of cocktails on the fly. There wasn’t any cocktail we had that wasn’t phenomenal! Thank you staff for the great time.
Javi — Google review
Cocktails absolutely tiny - 50ml or so of liquid. Nowhere near some of the better cocktails had in Japan or worldwide. Add on per person 400 yen seating charge, plus 600 otoshi charge, then 1500 or so for the drink, plus 8% tax, PLUS tipping charge of 10%. Not particularly nice setting or special atmosphere. Overall complete waste of money. Don't be fooled by whatever weird hype this place has. Feel really mis sold
Joel B — Google review
Cool place if you are into quiet and relaxed bars with bar tenders that take their craft seriously. The drinks are pricey, but I think it was fair for the quality. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is that they had a menu for foreigners where the drinks were slightly more expensive, on top of 10% service charge and 775 yen seat charge, where it would be ok if wasn’t the more expensive price already. Service however was amazing, I believe the barman the day I went was named Suzuki-san and the other person helping him was Yamashita-san.

Level 4 right beside Capsule Hotel. An intimate bar, honestly i am here for experience. Costs 4.7k Yen for cover, service, snacks etc. Great service, would have enjoyed it as the bartenders hold conversations with the guests (in japanese). Good ambience.

Step into the world of ancient South American temples at KING XMHU Night Club, a vibrant and lively spot in Susukino. The exterior features a larger-than-life Aztec face, setting the stage for an immersive experience inside. With colorful tribal designs and Cancun vibes, this nightclub offers two dance floors where DJs keep the energy high with pulsating beats. Spread across three levels, KING XMHU hosts themed parties and welcomes renowned DJs to spin tracks beneath dazzling light shows and smoke blasts.
Great club, great music (plays edm)! If you are in Sapporo, you should definitely visit this club, I had a really great time here with my friends!
Tan L — Google review
The club itself has a nice design, but too small, the music is too loud so we can't talk with other people without shouting, and the tunes weren't so good, nobody was dancing or really enjoying themselves. Oh, and the biggest problem, which I also noticed in other Japanese clubs : the ratio boys/girls which is about 80/20...
La G — Google review
Went on a Wednesday and a Thursday night. Pretty good sound system. Wednesdays have a bigger crowd with ladies night going on with plenty of good music. Thursday had more Japanese songs. You have to pay 600 yen for re entry if you go out though but they will give you a drink ticket for that.
Jasper T — Google review
I went in very early. Girls are free guys get in 1500yen ($15) before 10 I think. They passed out free drinks the edm/house music wasn’t bad. Lots of people around 11-12 came in. Not to mention the free drink upon getting in!

Had a great time. Ordering drinks were easy they understood English fine. Crowd was friendly some of the guys were rowdy but alcohol does that. Music could be better kind of a mix up of everything.

Type cal meat market. $40 cover, 2 drinks. Exaclyt what you are looking for if you are hounding meet market. Be advised 70/30. And not gaijin friendly. Best spot in Sapporo if you and friends are looking to enjoy yourselves and dance the night away!!! Only professional soundsystem that I have seen in this city. All the stylists are pro
Christopher F — Google review
There are two and a half room and 1 lounge. The stage played mostly edm, the other room played 80s music (Part time lover sort of songs), the last half was entrance/exit area + R&B music. I don’t understand the rational of Machu-Piccu inspired theme nightclub. Dress style here is quite odd, some guys dressed in oversized shirt or t-shirt with high-waisted pants. More than half of girls dressed like they go on a day trip at Asahikawa zoo with full length checked skirt. Most people don’t know how to dance, but jump (like a Kangaroo).
Mori K — Google review
Pile of shite. Don't even bother. Arrived at 21:30.. The place was empty. Tried to sit down with my girlfriend andr have a drink and was abruptly told "lady's only" for where we were sitting. (Bear in mind we two constituted 10% of the clientele at this time) Next we tried to sit down on another seat and were immediately instructed that that sofa was "VIP girls" only. Specialty Museums
The Sapporo Beer Museum, located in a former factory, offers free admission and features exhibits, tours, and paid tastings. Visitors of all ages can enjoy a tour of the museum to learn about the history of beer in Japan and the beer-making process. The highlight of the tour is a half-hour tasting session with an array of beers available. While sake may seem like a more traditional Japanese drink, experiencing the birth of Hokkaido's famous beer at this museum is also worthwhile.
I loved visiting the Sapporo Beer Museum. Learned a lot about the brand’s history, and the tasting room was a highlight—the beer was perfectly chilled and tasted amazing. A must-visit for beer lovers! (The museum was under exterior restoration but the operations inside were at 100%). At the end, you should enjoy the grilled lamb Genghis Khan at the Sapporo Garden restaurant. They have All You Can Eat options at a very reasonable price.
Michael S — Google review
If you are visiting Sapporo, the Sapporo Beer Museum is definitely worth a stop. It is not only a place to drink beer, but also a spot where you can experience the history, culture, and spirit of Hokkaidō. 🏛 Atmosphere & History The museum is inside a red-brick building from 1890, originally part of a sugar factory. The design is very nostalgic, industrial, and full of Meiji-era character. Just standing outside for photos feels like stepping back in time. Inside, the displays guide you through the story of how Sapporo Beer started in 1876 with German brewing techniques, and how it became one of the most iconic Japanese beer brands. 🖼 Exhibitions The exhibition area is well organized: • Old brewing machines, posters, and bottles give you a sense of history. • Models and videos explain the brewing process in a simple way. • You can learn about the famous “Star” logo, symbolizing the pioneers of Hokkaidō. Most panels are in Japanese, but many parts also have English explanations, which makes it friendly for international visitors. 🍺 Beer Tasting The highlight is of course the Beer Tasting Hall. Here you can order a 3-glass tasting set for around ¥800, which includes: • Sapporo Black Label – smooth and classic. • Sapporo Classic – only available in Hokkaidō. • Kaitakushi Beer – a revival of the original 19th-century recipe. The atmosphere is casual, and even if you are not a big drinker, just trying a small glass gives you the authentic Sapporo experience. 🍴 Food & Beer Garden Right next to the museum is the Sapporo Beer Garden, famous for Genghis Khan (ジンギスカン), the Hokkaidō-style grilled lamb. The pairing of juicy lamb and fresh draft beer is something you really shouldn’t miss. 📍 Access & Practical Info • About 15–20 minutes walk from Sapporo Station, or 10 minutes by bus. • The museum entrance is free, tasting is paid. • Best to visit in the afternoon or evening, then stay for dinner at the beer garden. ⸻ ✅ Overall impression: The Sapporo Beer Museum is more than a tourist spot – it is a mix of history, culture, architecture, and great beer. Whether you are a beer lover or just curious, it offers a very “only in Hokkaidō” experience.
Min M — Google review
The Sapporo Beer Museum, a former brewery now operating as a museum, offers paid tours and beer tasting. The tasting set, featuring three different beers, costs ¥1,200. Honestly, there's not much to see inside the museum itself. Most visitors just speed through the exhibits and head straight for the draft beer tasting hall to grab those essential Instagram-worthy shots. You can easily purchase your tasting tickets from a vending machine there. If you're a draft beer enthusiast, this place is a non-negotiable must-do for your Sapporo trip. However, for non-drinkers, it's pretty much a pointless tourist spot. The real value of visiting here is chugging that super cold draft beer. Highly recommended for all my fellow beer lovers! 🍺💯"
Patrick — Google review
The Sapporo Beer Museum is absolutely worth a visit. The old red-brick brewery building has a lot of charm, and the exhibition gives a nice overview of Sapporo’s brewing history with many original posters and details from past decades. At the end of the tour, the beer hall is the perfect place to sit down and taste the different Sapporo beers. The tasting set was very fairly priced, and the atmosphere inside was warm and lively without being crowded. A relaxed and enjoyable stop in Sapporo — especially if you appreciate good beer and history combined. 🍺
Ivo V — Google review
Very interesting museum about brewing in Japan with exhibits dated back many years ago! And of course the tasting room is the most popular part of the museum with a lovely beer hall for people to taste different brews. Walking around the museum area is also very nice and if you feel like a bit of shopping there’s a mall right next door too.
Andrew P — Google review
Good place to visit as its beside Sapporo factory. The free tour starts at third floor, where you spiral down. Second floor had a few exhibits then you go down to the tasting room where you can sample beer. It gets a bit crowded here. Although its free, many people will also spend at the tasting room for the beer, at the shop (both inside and out) and at the bier garten.
Neil C — Google review
Great place to learn about the history of Sapporo beer! There’s a free self guided tour area with English language cards for each section. There’s also a premium tour that’s paid and has a premium exclusive tour area and has beer tasting included from what I saw. We went in around mid day and the premium tour was already sold out for the day so I would suggest booking ahead. At the ground floor is the tasting area and the gift store. The tasting area had a long line and but it moved fairly quickly. It’s a ticket machine that accepts cash or card. You pay then take your tickets to the drinks counter to get your drinks and snacks and finally find your own table. The gift store sells the same drinks and snacks for you to take home. There’s also souvenirs and Hokkaido specific foods and goods. We had a good time and would come back again.

The Sapporo Beer Museum is a great mix of history and flavor! Loved learning the story behind Japan’s oldest beer brand in such a beautiful old building. The tasting was the highlight — fresh, crisp, and delicious. Don’t miss the exclusive Beer you can only try here. 🍺

Beer Bar NORTH ISLAND is a trendy spot in downtown Susukino, Sapporo, where you can savor the fruits of Hokkaido's craft beer scene. Established by two friends who honed their brewing skills in Canada, this chic bar offers six signature North Island brews including pilsner, weizen, brown ale, coriander black, stout and IPA. The venue also features a rotating selection of beers from across Hokkaido.
An excellent pub with great view, good variety of beers, and delicious pub food. I had some very good beers and a yummy plate of fried sweet potatoes. Every bite was heavenly. Hokkaido potatoes are absolutely delicious without any doubt!

Amazing local craft brewery taproom. Located on a 10th floor with spectacular city views. Must try their coriander black beer and ume lager. Don’t forget to order local specialty dish, lamb with freshly shaved horseradish!
Jarek S — Google review
I dropped by this bar to warm up with a beer, and it turned into one of my favourite memories in Sapporo. When I arrived it was around 4°C with a light snowfall outside, so stepping into a cozy bar overlooking the city lights felt perfect. I ordered a local craft beer and sat by the window – sipping something fresh and well-balanced while watching the streets below was incredibly relaxing. What made it even more special is that the next morning I woke up to find the whole city covered in fresh white snow – it was actually the first real snowfall of my trip. Looking back, that beer on a chilly night felt like the perfect “welcome to winter in Hokkaido” moment. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and a view that makes you want to stay for one more glass.
ChuLuxe E — Google review
Awesome location on the 10th floor where you can watch the world go by beneath you. Try to grab a counter seat by the window. Plenty of craft beer by SOC Brewing and some guest breweries. There are also tasting flights available. Best of all, the venue is non-smoking.

Great view at the 10th floor, but maybe too much light from the inside, it is a bit hard to see outside. Scan the qr code to see the menu (comes in english) and order. Credit card payment is acceptable.

Beer was so so, but the door staff is really horrible. I really wanted to like this place but it is quite possible the worse attributes of how to run a business, how to treat customers and is stereotypical of what many foreigners complain about when traveling in Japan. I often try to defend this kind of behavior and often take the side of the establishment, but this was really too far. Please get rid of that guy or he should learn to make drinking craft beer enjoyable. Really could not understand why he wanted to put us in a corner next to storage then just ignore us until we come to order beer at bar by ourselves. No kind words, so unfriendly. Had 1 beer and left immediately as made us feel absolutely unwelcome. To update from that experience, I wanted to give the beer another chance and tried it at the Japan brewers cup in Yokohama this past February. I still cannot recommend this beer. I will be going back to Sapporo and I do hope that I can try this place again and change my review as I am really not a person to make negative reviews about the beer places that I have tried.

The bar is a jazz gem, where Ryo Fukui used to play. It's a small and intimate space with regulars who are all friends of Ryo-san. The live music was terrific and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.
Never thought I'd find myself in a jazz bar in the middle of Japan but here we are and I'm sure glad of it. They actually had my favorite Scotch here and the music was great. People were friendly and the setting is very small and intimate. You can tell they know their stuff in honoring the greats of Jazz and Blues. If you are wanting a little break from the typical day in Japan look no further.

Slowboat is the ultimate bar when it comes to the jazz vibe. The entire vibe of the place is legit on point, and it just gives your life such a great pause and escape when you step into its universe. Adding on the jazz performances that takes places by local artist that just hits all the right spots, you will not want to go home any time soon for sure. The drinks are all legit (I ordered at least x8 sake the entire night) and the crew was attentive and friendly. If I am a resident of Sapporo, I am definitely making this my regular hangout, that's how much I love this place. Slowboat wa saikou jazz bar desu!
James A — Google review
This is how to do it (although I wish there was no smoking). 3,500 yen gets you two sets (around 45 mins each); you need to buy one drink per set (we got wine and mocktails, 700-800 each), plus they give you snacks (crisps and chocolates). Music was tight, the musicians charming and fun, all in a small package (the room can fit perhaps twenty people). The schedule seems to vary day to day with musicians working in various different combinations (the owner said they have twenty different players through the month). It starts at 8pm so don't be late! Second set starts at 9:15.

One of the best jazz clubs in Japan 💗 If you enjoy live jazz you have to visit the Slowboat. It's a privilege to hear music where Ryo once played. Soup Curry GARAKU is a must-visit spot in Sapporo, offering a unique and flavorful take on the beloved Hokkaido specialty. The restaurant is known for its rich and aromatic broth, which serves as the base for a variety of customizable options, including different spice levels and toppings. Visitors can expect a cozy ambiance and welcoming staff, making it the perfect place to warm up while indulging in this delicious dish.
The chicken was incredibly tender, and the curry was perfectly seasoned, flavorful without being overpowering, just the way I like it. I also really enjoyed the curry fried chicken, which had a great balance of crispiness and spice. The staff were very helpful with their recommendations, making the experience even better. Be prepared for a wait. The queue can get quite long. We were lucky to arrive early and only waited about 30 minutes.
Resiana R — Google review
Wow really no regret to queue for it. Took about 30 mins to be reach my number and be seated. Ordered the Kukani Pork Belly with level 4 curry, just nice for me, not quite spicy, the curry was flavourful. Also, it went well with the cheese topping rice. Wife's order was Chicken Thigh with level 1 was mild and nice too. The lady who assisted with the queue was always smiley, very cheerful and polite.
Michael L — Google review
Joined the queue at 11:20, though they are officially opened only at 11:30. Even so, got the queue number of 53, so we had to register Line app and waited for another 1.5 hours before our queue number gets called. Most of the patrons were locals though, so the place is not too touristy. Regardless, the soup was quite flavorful, even though it may look abit runny/watery. The protein given was also substantial.
Kenny C — Google review
Went there at 1pm+ short queue as after us it seems the queue is up onto the stairs. Queue was about 10mins. There's a ipad device for us to order and it comes in English. The curry was fantastic and tasted really rich in spices. Ordered the chicken set and it came with cheese on rice ( don't remmeber what sort of cheese is it) chicken was tender and juicy, brocoli was the star of the show. Hard to describe with words but I assume they deep fried it then put it in the curry which result in rich umami crunchy like texture. Sausage was huge and delicious. Will definitely come back if there is no queue.

Soup Curry GARAKU – Sapporo Main Restaurant Popularity & Wait Time: This place is extremely popular and always busy. Be sure to arrive early to take a number ticket — doing so will help you avoid a long wait. You can check your queue status via LINE after getting your ticket. I got the number ticket at 4:50pm waited for 20mins. Location: The restaurant is located in a basement. The floor outside the entrance felt a bit sticky, which wasn’t a great first impression. Atmosphere: Inside, the vibe is great — cozy with an American-style interior. Although it was crowded, it didn’t feel cramped. A very comfortable dining environment. Food & Service: The food came out quickly. I ordered the mushroom soup curry and absolutely loved it! The flavor paired perfectly with the turmeric rice — very satisfying. Extra Tip: The restaurant sells their original soup curry products, so you can bring the taste home if you like it. Overall: Highly recommended! Try to arrive about 30 minutes before opening to get a number and avoid a long wait.
Emily L — Google review
Recommend getting a numbered ticket as early as possible. The shop is said to open at 11:30am. We arrived around 12:00 and a few minutes later the numbered tickets are all gone, which means you won’t be able to have lunch at the restaurant. Nice soup curry. Suggested adding cheese topping in soup curry.

Gotsubo Oyster Bar is a cozy and popular spot in Sapporo, Japan, offering affordable oysters starting at just $1. Despite its small size of about 16.5 square meters and seating for only five people inside, it's a gem for oyster lovers. The bar is known for serving fresh and appetizing shellfish, drawing lines of customers during peak hours who may choose to stand and eat at the counter outside.
Compulsory to order a drink per person. We tried the raw oysters 200 yen each, oysters in sesame oil - savoury and unique, baked surf clam in shoyu (probably our favourite!), steamed clams in sake (ranked close 2nd), saffron cod. Highly recommend to come when it’s just opened at 5pm, crowd is thin and it’s a great pre dinner appetiser, before moving on to the mains elsewhere with plenty of options nearby.
Jacinda S — Google review
4.5 - This hidden spot is perfect for oyster lovers. Not only are the oysters incredibly fresh, but they’re also very affordable. Personally, I prefer the oysters from the special menu. Don’t get me wrong, the standard oysters are great, but the ones (with wasabi sauce) from the special menu are on a whole other level, in my opinion.
Roy S — Google review
Excellent oyster dishes. We had 12 Raw Oysters with Wasabi, 6 oysters in sesame oil, 6 oysters gratin, 10 deep fried battered oysters, 2 small bowls of pickles, all delicious, and 3 beers, and paid 11,300 yen = $76. That’s great value!
Alvertos R — Google review
This place is extremely good. They have an English menu and are really accommodating. Wish I lived here so I could eat these oysters and sides every day. The wasabi oysters and fried oysters were my favorite. Thank you. We ate about 22 oysters, 4 sides, and 2 drinks and it was only 51 USD..

Entrance is at an alley. Oysters were fresh and rather cheap. Their baked oysters and cheese was really good... Comparable to decent oyster mornays I had elsewhere. Their raw oyster with sesame oil was pretty unique and savoury. Enjoyed the food. I myself didn't have to queue, but the place had about 2 groups of people queueing after I left.
Zachary C — Google review
This is a nice spot for raw oysters. Each raw oyster is ¥200. To me, they were pretty big. But they give you condiments. Each person is required to buy a drink. I got the oyster in gratin, which was pretty tasty. The cheese pull was so satisfying. **CASH ONLY Bathroom available (only one stall, very narrow)
Shmiley C — Google review
Amazing value for money. 200 yen for raw oyster and 300 yen for oysters with toppings. Really fresh and plump oysters that leave you wanting more. The 2 gentlemen behind the bar added to the great atmosphere. 10/10.
Leonard G — Google review
We came here for a drink and some oysters, but it was quite disappointing. The oysters were small and not juicy or plump like I expected. They were fresh, but there was only one kind, no premium options. The service wasn’t great either, when the place got crowded, it seemed like they forgot our order because another table that ordered later got their oysters first. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Be cautious when passing through the toll gate at this JR station. My son accidentally triggered an alarm after inserting his ticket, mistakenly passing through the gate after past the trunk first then himself. Immediately, an elderly station attendant with white hair stopped him, started interrogating, and began scolding him harshly. Just before that incident, my wife had left her smartphone on the train. I approached the gate and asked that old guy where the lost and found was. Sensing my non-native Japanese, he pointed vaguely outside, with an attitude that felt dismissive—almost like he was annoyed. Unable to find the lost and found, I returned to the gate and discovered the situation with my son. Since he doesn’t speak Japanese, he said he didn’t understand while the old man was yelling at him. My wife tried to explain in her limited Japanese that we had bought four tickets—one for each of us—and even showed the receipt. She said that everyone had inserted their ticket one by one, but our son must have made a mistake. Still unaware of what exactly had happened, I tried to ask the attendant calmly about the lost and found. But he yelled at me, saying, “It’s right out there after the gate!” That’s when I realized the problem involving my son. I tried to de-escalate and asked, “So is this about the money? If that’s the issue, I’m happy to pay for the ticket.” But the old man remained agitated. Thankfully, a younger female clerk approached and began listening to what we were saying. She kindly re-explained the situation to the old man, but he still refused to calm down. So I said, “If you think we’re lying or trying to cheat the system, fine—I’ll pay. Is that enough to resolve this?” The young clerk tried to persuade him by saying it was likely just a mistake and that we could move on. He didn’t respond verbally but reluctantly showed agreement. I know very well and have faced so many this type of old guys despise foreigners especially Asians thinking it’s still World War II era, they were colonizing and oppressing the people. Instead of confronting right at the spot, I left the site bringing my family because we’re too much exhausted coming here and it’s almost 10 pm. Try your best not to be noticed as foreigners and try not to make any mistakes.

Good Goose Island draft beer too! ———— Update: We came back to give the food another try. Unfortunately, our chicken with “cream” gravy and nachos were quite sad. Not worth the price of the meal or the ¥500 otoshi. We won’t be back. ———— Five star service; three star food. We loved the atmosphere and the very friendly service and found our pizza, wings, and salad to be solidly “ok.” Very fun atmosphere and a perfect spot to meet friends after work.

Fun atmosphere and great staff. We had pizza and wings. I had a couple craft beers and my wife had the sangria. We left nothing on our plate. We enjoyed everything!

Oyster bar restaurant
Salt Moderate is a Hawaiian restaurant in the same neighborhood as Craft Beer Volta and New Chavez. It specializes in oysters and steak, offering fresh and delicious options. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick. Visitors have praised the fresh oysters and delicious food, particularly recommending not to miss out on the oyster bar while in Susukino. Some have found certain dishes to be a bit salty but overall enjoyed their experience at this good Hawaiian place with cawaii waitresses.
I'm really confused about how this place only has 3.7⭐️ I found the food to be delicious, and the pricing was fair. The oysters were delicious 😋 Also the potato skins surprisingly tasty
Jamie T — Google review
Bad service here, as indicated by many people here. Go at your own risk. Waited ages for the food, as usually from other reviewer, order for my son was also missed. They did not acknowledge it but try to give excuse. Probably only go if you know Japanese, it’s like talking chicken n duck here. Food is only reasonable and best at average. What makes the matter worst is the server just smile it off when she make mistake. I told them to check the cctv for their word against mine. They say no camera. The service fee of 500yen per pax was not mentioned too.
Mark K — Google review
We had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The poke bowl was fresh and flavorful. The garlic shrimp was cooked to perfection, juicy, tender, and bursting with rich garlic butter flavor. And the oysters were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was inviting, the service was friendly and attentive, and the quality of the food was top notch.
Ashley S — Google review
The raw oysters were out of this world! 5 stars just for that. Service was a little slow but fine. Cute place. Would definitely go back for the oysters
V T — Google review
Excellent service. Fresh oysters. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive.

Recent review: Terrible service. Impolite staff. Previous review 3 stars. Very bright and inviting atmosphere. This restaurants sells different kinds of oysters from Hokkaido and around Japan. Famous places like Hiroshima. The restaurant's official style is modern Hawaiian cuisine. Mostly inspired by the Japanese-Hawaiian food. Dishes such as spam sushi. Really enjoyed the potato skins, which also come in a variety of toppings. Enjoyed the Hawaiian craft beers on tap. But found it was cheaper to drink a local bottle of Sapporo Classic! Overall the restaurant is pricey. The staff are friendly, but over attentive. Sometimes quite intrusive. Try it for yourself!

Jazz club
Bossa is a famous jazz bar located on the 2nd floor of a building near the station in Sapporo. It offers great cocktails and plays jazz records, creating a relaxing atmosphere for visitors to enjoy. The bar has a quiet vibe and is an ideal place to savor good coffee, drinks, and snacks while listening to nice jazz music. Additionally, it's known for its spicy French fries and mushroom pasta.
These are quiet, friendly, elderly man-owned establishments. He lets you just be and enjoy the music, which made me feel very at ease. His impeccable taste is evident in the walls covered in vinyl collections. I really enjoy finding places like this one by chance.

This bar is run by a true connoisseur who chooses from his huge collection of jazz LPs. There are numerous cocktails and some options for nibbles. There’s a cover charge and a two-hour table limit but it’s worth it to be somewhere that is so special.

Wonderful classic jazz cafe/bar in central area. Great music, perfect vibes. Very mellow and comfortable in the afternoon. Louder with tourists in the evening.

Bossa ***NOTICE: if you don’t like cigarette smoke, this is NOT the place for you*** I visited today with my brother and our friend. It was my first visit and their third. The jazz music playing is nice. Quiet vibe otherwise else. Great place to enjoy the music, get some good coffee, drinks and snacks. We had the spicy French fries, they were great. Balanced flavor. Also ate a mushroom pasta. Nothing 100% special but still good none the less. I recommend you come if looking for a vibe type place to enjoy music

Hidden jazz oasis in the middle of Sapporo. Up one flight of stairs. Kind service, great coffee, perfect music. Quiet in the afternoons, busier at night.

Randomly found this Sapporo hidden gem and has no regrets going in. A beautiful bar with cozy and well decorated interior. The owner has a massive collection of records from which he picks and plays tracks as he makes drinks for patrons at the same time, the waitress serving me was really awesome! The 2-hour drinks deal is insane for the yummy cocktails menu they offer, I didn’t make the most out of it as I was in a hurry. But next time I’ll sure to revisit when I come back to Sapporo!

The staff is knowledgeable about the beers they serve, providing recommendations and descriptions to help patrons select the perfect brew!

Reasonable prices for craft beers, but most of the beer is from Portland, OR in USA, not local. They seem to have an obsession with breweries from there. Nearly all of their canned beers in their many fridges were from Portland as well. While I agree, Portland has great craft beer, I was hoping to drink local craft beer. Got a flight of 4 beers of 4 oz each for about 1400 yen. Much cheaper than I expected. Staff spoke very minimal English. Self serve water is provided. Nice ambiance

The beer sampler was awesome. Nice way to try different beers if you can't decide what you like. The shop is cozy and warm. There was a semi-snowstorm happening outside after we arrived.

Sapporo is home to one of the top craft beer bars in Japan! Great selection of taps, friendly and helpful staff! You can even buy beer here, which is great! They have local Japanese craft beers as well as cutting edge beers from all over the world! It is open until 9pm, so if you want to drink more, you can decide which bar to go to next!

Very cool beer bar. They also sell cider ( at a price) and some fine craft beers. The favourite being Altered State which at 5.7% is how you end up feeling. Vinyl on the turntable.
Julian A — Google review
OK place to drop in for a few quick drinks. Not a huge selection of crafts, 8 on tap but not a good mix. They had a fridge selling cans which had a some unique niche brands but wasn't special again. They serve some small snacks.. Was funny we ordered mixed nuts and the guy behind the counter pulled out this small dish and weighing machine to measure the amount of nuts... Service was not good and the guy behind the bar didn't even speak to me... Sort of odd experience for a craft beer bar. Again, ok for a quick beer
Boss — Google review
We’re happy to have this store/pub in our neighborhood. Some great beer on tap and in bottles, though keep an eye on expiration dates on the cans. Take out or drink-in is ok. The bar is also dog friendly and allows customers to bring in outside food. Good stuff and recommended!

Managed by craft beer importer specialized to Portland. 1 pint for 972 yen for Portland beers, unbelievable price! You can try both cans and drafts. I usually like IPA but here out of four tasting set, loved the HOP KOTAN BREWING’s German style pilsner. Cozy and quiet place. Highly recommended!

The bar nano.gould in Sapporo offers a chic and delightful ambiance with subdued lighting, showcasing various cocktails that highlight the charm of Hokkaido. While they don't offer single malt whiskey, they have an extensive selection of official and independent bottlers. The cozy and small space provides a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy the extensive cocktail menu, featuring creative concoctions.
This is a great example of a high end Japanese cocktail bar. The lighting isn't too dim. Counter seats are comfy and spacious. They serve classic drinks to seasonal drinks and have a good spirits selection. Tomita-san, the owner, and his team are very friendly. They speak English well. The service is excellent. I'll surely re-visit this bar when I'm back in Sapporo.

Wonderful place! Quaint place with a huge selection of cocktails. All I tried were really something else - tasteful and unique. If you should pick one bar in Sapporo this would be the one. Get here early or book in advance, it got full quite fast on a Sunday.
Adrian W — Google review
This is the epitome of a high-quality cocktail bar. Delicious cocktails, with several highly-creative originals as well as great renditions on the classics. A laid-back, high-class vibe in a beautiful space with a long bar as well as a few smaller tables. A really fun variety of glassware to make each drink feel unique. Kind service from the owner and bartenders, happy to chat with us in either English or our basic Japanese. All of this combined makes this one of the best cocktail bars we've ever been to (and we've been to a lot, across Tokyo and New York). We went back twice in the same week, and I only wish we lived in Sapporo so we could become regulars. One warning: they do seem to allow smoking, as the first night we went there was one smoker at the bar. However they didn't stick around long, and on our second visit on Friday night nobody was smoking, so chances are good you'll be able to avoid getting cigarette odor in your delicious cocktails.
Domenic D — Google review
Beautiful bar with exceptional staff and service. All the cocktails were fantastic - special praise must be given to the gin & tonic, which is the most perfect expression of the drink I've experienced anywhere in the world. Highly recommended

Amazing cocktail bar. Staff and bartenders are very attentive and experts at their craft. All the tails we ordered were very tasty. Walked in at around 9pm on a Sunday and easily got a seat, then an hour later it suddenly filled up.

Really love this bar- it should be on the Asia’s 50 Best Bar list. It’s one of the best bar experiences I’ve had in Japan. The head bartender Kenichi Tomita is a genius. We drank several of the cocktails on the menu- the blue cheese cocktail and the Pakistan curry cocktail. But we also ordered some off menu classics- Bees Knees, Penicillin, and Negroni. Everything was top notch. The bar is cozy and small- but I think it seats more than some small bars. They also have a table that seated 5. So you could go with more than 2 people. If you are a larger group- call ahead. The staff are so warm and friendly. There is an English menu and some of the staff speak English very well.

Moon Sun Brewing is a brewpub located in Sapporo, offering a menu of 10 different beers with usually 2 to 3 brewed in-house. The bar provides a cozy and warm atmosphere with an impressive logo noren at the entrance. It's recommended to make reservations in advance as it can get quite busy, especially for those who prefer sitting rather than standing.

Moon and sun brewing craft beer bar in Susukino, Sapporo. I've been to a few craft beer places in Japan by now and this is the second place that serves really good craft beer! ... but don't go for the juicy pale ale of you're expecting a NEIPA... They seem to be skimping a bit on the hops 🤔 but everything else was super good! Including the food!
Robert F — Google review
Delicious craft beer, amazing food, warm atmosphere, and delightful service. 10/10 izakaya experience, would recommend for anyone to head down when in Sapporo.
Jen W — Google review
Moon Sun Brewing is a nice little spot conveniently located near start/end of the walking mall and the Nijo market. This time it was less than a 3 min walk from my hotel so it was quite easy to enjoy late into the night. The beer selection is pretty good and like more beers brewed in Sapporo the taste was clean and pleasant. I had the IPA and a Pilsner. The IPA was traditional and not hazy which i really appreciate. It is getting little more difficult to find non-hazy beers and a brewery that takes the time to make beer properly has high marks in my opinion. Their pilsner was refreshing and flavorful. The taste profile was correct and had a lovely bitterness and not too sweet. There is ample seating at the bar and tables in the back for larger groups. They have a unique menu with some Hokkaido specialties like roast venison. The onion rings were very tasty and a good portion was served. I do commend the chef for his hard work and skill for managing the kitchen and preparing all the delicious foods. The bar staff were pleasant and attentive. I never felt ignored or left waiting which was very nice. I really enjoyed this brew pub and look forward to coming back next time as this was my 2nd time to visit.
Hutch312 — Google review
I came 5 minutes before they opened and there was already a line. They took everyone with reservation first and then everyone else. We unfortunately didn't come early enough so we had to standing tables which were fine but it's a bit tiring to stand for 2 hours. So I definitely recommend getting reservations before hand. It's 3000 yen for all you can drink for 2 hours. It includes highballs and soft drinks as well. Food can be ordered separately and pairs great with the beers. They have a nice QR code to scan for you to order from and they serve you the drinks soon after ordering. As for the beers, I didn't think any of them were too special. They were all easy to drink but I personally think they lack depth in flavor and aroma. But overall it was a very fun experience and good service. They have a daily guest beer which ran out before we could try it. Along with the lager. So I recommend getting those early.
John N — Google review
Great beer, tasty food and cool vibe/music/setting for the brewery. We tried the stout, the Nelson Sauvin lager and the weizen and they were all delicious. The Tuna potato salad balls and the gyoza were tasty too. Great stop for our first craft beers in Sapporo. Highly recommended.
Chriswfo — Google review
I first attempted to visit Moon Sun Brewing on a Saturday night without reservations. As expected, they couldn't seat us. We went back a few days later on a Tuesday evening (without reservations) and they were able to accommodate us at the few standing tables in near the bar seats. Shortly after that, they asked if we wanted property seats at a table. It was really nice of them to accommodate us at a table despite how crowded this venue is. We actually went back a couple of days later on a Thursday night (Halloween night) and they once again accommodated us at a standing table. Within about 30 minutes they once again sat us at an actual table. The beer selection here is varied and changes throughout the week. I drank a variety of light through darker ales as well as some hoppy lagers. The flights here are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is modern and fun.

Tap Room BEER KOTAN 札幌大通 is a popular tap house in Japan, known for its great beer, food, and atmosphere. The indoor and outdoor seating options make it a versatile choice, although the availability of the outdoor terrace during winter is uncertain due to heavy snowfall in Sapporo. Visitors praise the diverse selection of craft beers with detailed descriptions and fast rotation, featuring local ingredients and inventive approaches. The high-alcohol craft beers are particularly noteworthy.

There are 12 beers on tap, you can choose the size (S, M or L). There's also a beer flight option. The menu also has some food options (pizza, meat, snacks, ...) The staff is nice and it's ok if you don't speak Japanese. Beerwise, the whole spectrum of style is represented: pils, ale, IPA, ...

Came here around 6pm on a Monday night and the place wasn't so busy, by 645 the place was starting to fill up. The space is real nice with a Terrence that can be used in the warmer months. The beers are all brewed in furano - main style is ipa with around 4 different ipas. Prices are reasonable at 800 to 900 yen for a 420ml pint. It's definitely worth paying a visit if you want some local brew crafts.

Horrible Customer service. Rude waiter. Was super excited after seeing about this place and their hops in the Furano area. Food was gross. Beers was very subpar. Place looks nothing like the pictures. Minimum a drink order per person and was very rude about it when family didn’t drink soda’s was still forced to order after requesting water. Ordered 2 beers. Bar OWL&ROOSTER is a hidden gem in Sapporo, located on the 6th floor of a high-rise building. The owner, Saito-san, is known for crafting expensive yet beautiful cocktails with a mix of classic and creative options. His extensive collection behind the bar reflects his love for absinthe and local Hokkaido flavors. The cozy and warm atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to unwind while enjoying personalized recommendations from the master bartender himself.
Loved the vibe of the bar immediately with its jazz music & cozy setting. Saito-san was friendly and very attentive to our needs, even sharing knowledge of some of the rare alcohol he carries. Making cocktails is an art & we got a good view when we made drinks which was amazing.
Sha M — Google review
This is probably the best bar in Sapporo. Not only is it recommended by foreigners as the owner is fluent in English, but he knows how to mix amazing drinks. If I like a bar I will order a Dark and Stormy and see how good it tastes, and this was probably the 3rd best I’ve ever had. The guava Bloody Mary was very good too, and I don’t normally like bloody Marys either (but I love guava juice) The owner is also extremely friendly and honest in conversation as we talked about a wide variety of things. When a regular Japanese customer of his came in a bit later, he worked hard to involve us both in the same conversation which was very hospitable of him to do. I had an early dinner so I came right at opening, but around 8pm a few different parties came in one after another, so I imagine that’s around the time it starts filling up. But even if you go during peak drinking time, this bar is definitely worth the effort to try and visit if you’re in Sapporo.
Jeff — Google review
My favorite bar for my 1st trip in Sapporo. This is an owner operated bar. Saito-san is very friendly and a skilled bartender. He can speak English very well. So you will feel comfortable here. The bar has a lot of amaro so you will be able to try lots of new and unusual but delicious stuff here. His cocktails are also excellent. There's a drink for everyone.
John G — Google review
A must visit cocktail bar if you love craft cocktails. The place is small with bar seats and 3 tablels. So bring your luck. Otherwise, there will be a wait. Menu is available in both Japanese and English. The bar is low lit with jazz background music. Nice chill mood. Elixir & Frommage really does feel like Tiramirsu, not too sweet, just the right creaminess, just perfect. Other drinks are just as excellent. Try several menu, all great, you will not be disappointed. Great job, Saito san.
Kwan J — Google review
Lovely bar helmed by Saito san. The cocktails are centric around medicinal alcohol. If you are looking for an unique experience with cocktails, this is a bar to visit!
G C — Google review
When you walk into this bar, you walk into an atmosphere of low-key jazz and ambience, but the drinks Saito San gives you are anything but. A prime example of this is his Elixir and Fromage, which, accurately to the description, tastes like a tiramisu cake. Imagine that - a drink that utterly tastes like a rich creamy delicacy, made with Hokkaido dairy. All of his drinks are carefully curated to please the drinker, unique drinks you won't find elsewhere. Definitely worth a visit if you go to Sapporo!
Tasdique C — Google review
Discovered a hidden gem in Sapporo’s nightlife where the master bartender not only crafts exquisite cocktails but also shares interesting stories about local cultures. Visited around 22:00 on a Sunday to find a cozy atmosphere with a diverse, yet intimate crowd. The cocktails were outstanding, both in taste and presentation, and the master’s personalized recommendations and friendly chats truly enriched the experience. He even suggested other noteworthy bars in the area! A must-visit for an authentic and memorable night out in Sapporo:)

We stumbled upon this place looking for an after dinner drink, and what a gem to find. This place is located on the 6th floor of the building, a little tricky to find but so worth it. The space is small and intimate and you are greeted by the bartender/owner upon entering. The menu was diverse with craft cocktails, several focusing on Japanese whiskey. We had the early grey martini, Van Gogh (couldn’t pass up absinthe) as well as a manhattan. All very balanced with nice flavor profile. Highly recommend for the cocktail enthusiast! And talking with the owner of the bar was a joy too.

Nice and cozy bar with friendly staff and customer... love the beer here...

Foreigners be careful, you might feel scammed. Be careful with a bar tender named Hiroki, he’s skinny, in his mid 20s fairly tall for a Japanese guy, with a Justin Bieber haircut. Here’s the story: I found this bar by doing a quick search on Google, it was close to my hotel and it had decent reviews. When I got there, the bar was completely empty, which is not a problem for me often. I sat down at the bar and ordered a beer. This Hiroki guy, after chatting me up a bit, asked me if he can join me with a drink. My first thought was like go ahead bro I don’t mind. But when he said “Itadakimasu” I understood I was paying for that drink. I live in the Kantou region, it’s considered rude if a regular bar tender does that to you over there. But I don’t know if this is normal in Hokkaido, he made himself a High ball, so I let it slide. As we continued with the casual small talk, I asked him if he lived far from there. To what he answered me that he lives two hours away by walk, there are no trains at night and he said he can’t afford a taxi so he had to walk 2 hours in the winter weather. By this point, I realized this guy was trying to trick me into giving money by making me feel sorry for him. I don’t remember if he was the owner but I think he mentioned to be just an employee, in Japan there’s something called “Koutsuhi” which translates as travelling expenses and they’re provided to the employee by their employer at any full or part-time job. He continued saying things that didn’t make much sense and the vibes were turning dark. As I started to feel uncomfortable I chugged my beer and started to gather my stuff so I can leave asap. Out of the blue he offered me a tequila shot on the house (I got the feeling that it wasn’t going to be free, like he was going to expect me to stay longer or give him more money). Therefore, I rejected it and his reaction wasn’t the nicest. At the end, my bill was 3000 for a craft beer and his high ball. Never going back again, I went to the Rad brothers instead, where I befriended the manager. It’s close to Susukino station.

Loved this place and the staff. Sang a bunch of karoake, maybe too much. Come for the cheap drinks and karoake, but you’ll stay because of the staff

Ganso Ramen Yokocho in Sapporo is a historic alley dating back to the 1950s, renowned for its cluster of small ramen restaurants. The specialty here is the Sapporo-style ramen, featuring noodles in a rich pork broth with miso paste, complemented by bean sprouts and succulent pork slices. Each noodle shop offers its own array of toppings.
So many selection of Ramen store and mostly open for dinner. I am just choosing the one that less queuing and good google rate. Would recommend miso ramen with butter since it’s hokkaido specialty

My family and I as foreign tourists visited and walked through this famous Ramen "alley" in downtown Sapporo. We were highly impressed by the many Ramen shops that were located in the "alley" and we had a nice Sapporo Ramen dinner at one of the shops therein.
Edtayjb — Google review
One of my best ramen exploring experiences. This place has lots of different ramen restaurants within a small alley. Do not let the size of the restaurant make you walk away; each restaurant has its own vibe, and the cooks are very kind to visitors. I loved the buttery flavour of the miso ramen prepared at this place, plus the soft corn they typically put in the ramen. Try the clam miso ramen, delicious.
Michael S — Google review
Great vibes and a fun photo op! They have washrooms which is great. Some places have a long line and some have none at all. Most places only take cash! Salt ramen wasn’t my favourite but it was probably just a personal preference.
Shannon M — Google review
small concentrated street of ramen shops. Seems a bit finicky which ones will be open on which days. Queueing here can be tricky as there isn't much room in the alley.
Norman C — Google review
Nice place to enjoy ramen. The ramen is nice and the broth is so thick and savory. The topping also nice balancing the ramen.

Very delicious ramen. The shopowner was welcoming and friendly. The shop was small yet cozy, and we needed to wait for about 40 mins for a table.

After almost 24 hours of flying and travelling, we were ready for a treat. Their miso ramen is so delicious. The broth was hearty and savory, full of miso goodness, and what I hoped for in a city renowned for miso ramen. The noodles has the right amount of chew. Ajitsuke tamago was cooked perfectly. We also tried the spicy version which was equally delicious. The owner/chef was incredibly nice. We arrived to order near closing time but he still let us eat. We chatted for a bit after everyone left. He's a hard worker but loves talking to the people who enjoy his food. Would highly recommend and would come again.

Umi Hachikyo is a traditional Japanese restaurant in Sapporo, known for its focus on seafood. The most popular dish is Tsukko meshi, featuring soy sauce-brined salmon roe over a bowl of rice. The restaurant's salmon roe is sourced from Hokkaido, adding to its authenticity.
Best place for salmon roe, not sure what they do but it tastes better than anywhere else I tried it. The grilled fish was fantastic. Would def recommend to try if you are ever in the area. The potato side was great too. Need to book in advance during Sapporo snow festival. Basically anything you order you won’t be disappointed. Thx for a fantastic experience. Skip dessert and go somewhere else. Not bad just not like their meal. Same as family mart ice cream.

We decided to pop by when they first opened at 6pm, testing our luck as we didn’t make a reservation. Luckily, there was a spare table by the bar which they offered us. I had a small bowl of salmon roe and salmon-sashimi, while my partner had the medium salmon roe bowl. The portions were huge and they were super generous with the salmon roe. It was such a fun experience and we felt so welcomed by all the staff. The seafood was fresh and so delicious, we will definitely be recommending this spot to family and friends.
Len N — Google review
In A Nutshell: -Umi Hachikyo is a really fun restaurant to eat at. -I enjoyed the salmon roe pour overed a bowl of rice. -When this happens they will yell おいさあおいさ。(Hey! Hey! Hey!) until enough salmon roe is poured over your rice. -The food is really delicious. -The Hokkaido Karaage Chicken was good, but I don't recommend it. -The scallop was very big & the juices were very tasty. Overall, don't forget to enjoy some Classic Sapporo Beer & cold Hokkaido Sake.
Dude — Google review
The restaurant is popular, very atmospheric, staff are friendly, even we don't know Japanese, they look for translations for us to explain the menu and place orders. The most famous is the salmon roe rice, it served in 3 sizes - small, medium or large. We went for the medium to share each other. It’s impressive when serving, the staff makes a loud announcement then begin to ladle fresh salmon roe onto our bowl of rice. Each salmon roe is full and big, we are watching the salmon roe sliding down from the white rice, visual and taste are satisfied, the other foods are delicious, the price is reasonable but not particularly cheap. Better make reservation or you may not get a seat.
CM L — Google review
Izakaya famous for their overflowing salmon roe with rice (ikura-don). No fishiness of the roe at all and their grilled mackerel was great too. Good atmosphere, as there is a performative component to the service of the roe. The staff will chant with each spoonful of ikura placed over the rice, served tableside.

Great atmosphere and service and the ceremony around the salmon roe was good fun. The other things on the menu were also tasty (and especially the buttered corn). We turned up at 6 one day, couldnt get a table but they helped us book for the following day. Definitely worth the return - a memorable dinner

What a fantastic place. You walk in and feel like you're walking into a fisherman's shack. The staff are attentive and entertaining. Wait until they serve up the overflowing salmon roe and the excitement and theatrics that go with it. That said, the food is great and the fish is very fresh.

Each restaurant in the area has its own signature soup, and Soup Curry Treasure stands out with its unique offering.
I’ve always been intrigued by Japanese curry, and Sapporo—famous for its soup curry—takes it to another level. There’s something almost magical about the way they make it here: the rich, flavorful broth, the vibrant fresh veggies, the tender meat… every bite is absolute heaven. The place was packed, and we waited about 20 minutes in line, but once seated the service was quick, and you pay at the end. Absolutely an amazing experience from start to finish!

This the sister restaurant to Garaku. We decided to go here because the Garaku was no longer taking customers because of the long lines of people waiting to eat. If you go slightly before 7pm you have a better chance of being seated. The food is similar to Gaaku, but with additional skirt steak and lamb. All the dishes were delicious. I had the fried chicken, but the curry blended well with my wife's selection of lamb. When we return we will be going here and avoiding Garaku due the large amounts of tourists.
Mr_ R — Google review
Arrived around 5pm and the restaurant is already half filled with customers. We were showed to our seats fast and ice water is served. We ordered the fried chicken leg soup curry which came with a variety of lightly baked vegetables. The baked broccoli is so good that we must go for second servings. The fried chicken has crispy skin with juicy meat. Depending on the level of spiciness that you choose, the soup curry itself has a good blend of spices and a slight sweet after note. There is English menu available upon request. Table is slightly squeezy for us.
Wendy K — Google review
There is not a vegetarian or vegan option, the broth options all have meat or fish in them. My partner loved his meal but be warned you won't be able to eat the soup curry if you're a vegetarian. See my photos for the menu.

Everything is just nice, had the hamburg curry, normal spicy, the fried chicken leg was very nice too! For Malaysian, suggest to go beyond level 3 (normal). Came at 11.20am to line up for 10 minutes, get in with the first group, just nice.

After a short wait, we were ushered to our table. The food tasted amazing - flavorful and crispy chicken was still crispy. We were too full to try the shrimp stock curry hence we bought their soup stock - smart business idea

We really enjoyed the food at this soup curry place! We ordered three different ones to try, fried chicken leg, all veggies, and hamburger patty. The flavor is very mild but flavorful, the spice level was just right at medium spicy (3). I particularly loved the veggies in the soup curry, very fresh and cooked just right. It brightens up the whole dish. If you don't want to wait 2 hours at Garaku, this is definitely a solid choice. I actually liked it better than GARAKU~

I visited with a friend on a Sunday at 11.30am just as they opened. The space is huge and has a lot of seating options. The staff didn't speak english, but we were able to communicate with broken english. We tried the lunch Pizza set and Pasta set which comes with Salad and soup sides. The place has a great atmosphere and we ended up staying for around 2 hours there.

A cute Italian spot. We got a sauteed chicken thigh dish which came with slivers of almonds that I wasn't very fond of and a bit of mashed potatoes and a broccoli - the portion size seemed pricy for how much food it was (compared to the other dish prices here, but understanding it was a big piece of meat), but it tasted great. We also shared a medium mushroom pizza with garlic and prosciutto-- the crust was great but the slice itself fell apart and was a bit soggy - the mushrooms were a bit on the soggy side too and there weren't as many as I hoped. The prosciutto was dry. But overall the pizza had good flavor and it was enjoyable. My friends liked their pasta dishes and apparently the garlic bread is really good. I also got a ginger mango mocktail- it was good but didn't have as much ginger flavor as I'd hoped. Overall this place is good especially if you're from out of town and looking for something that's not Japanese food.
Jenny T — Google review
In my last days in Japan, I was craving for a good wood fired pizza and looking at some pictures and seeing they won an award - I popped by as people say food in Japan is always of a good standard but boy was I wrong. I was seated and asked if the large pizza and a pasta was too much for 2 and was suggested a medium which I took and the medium pizza was astonishingly small for any standards, and after paying 3k yen for a margherita, I already knew we were severely overpaying. The other dish I ordered was a 150g steak which came extremely cold and not tender at all. The wedges felt no better than the microwave pack from Grocers. In the end I was even charged an additional service fee which I feel is not a norm in Japan as this was my first time, though they had written it in small text in the menu, I felt it was misleading. The issue is not the price but every meal in Japan is so precious because there are amazing people out there putting in a lot of heart and soul in their food and it really annoys me that one meal got wasted in this restaurant. I highly recommend looking elsewhere. Susulino is a hub of food - pls don’t make my mistake.
Siddharth S — Google review
Conveniently located within the same building as Daiwa Roynet hotel of which we happened to stay at during our Sapporo trip. Our family love the spread here so much we paid a second visit. Most impressive 'just right' amount of smoked/charred aged steak and faultless thin stone baked pizza base which transfer our memory back to Milan. Fresh ingredients in salads. Trully one of the best italian dishes eaten in Japan.
Linda H — Google review
Margarita pizza was tasty and awesome. Some people say the hardest thing to do is making a simple dish awesome and in my opinion, this hits the mark. Margarita pizza is a staple in most restaurants and it can often be neglected. But this was simply tasty and comforting. The star has to be the dough. It was fragrant, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The pasta was fungi pasta made al dente and creamy. If you are looking for a place to hide from the cold, this place will warm up your tummy for sure.

Although there are many comments about them not welcoming foreigners, We didn't feel the same way. All the customers were foreigners on the night we visited. Both the chef and the staff could speak fluent English. We were a bit late, apologized when entered the restaurant, expecting that we might have missed a dish (we were late for about 3 min), but the chef was so nice and provided us with the dish we just missed. The chef was skilled and friendly, introducing the dishes in English, and casually chatting with all the customers. He even invited us to chat more as we were a bit silent. We dined in a relaxing atmosphere. There were 21 items in total. The food was nice, though not as good as those we've tried in Tokyo before, considering that they were in a similar price range. The rice was more on the acidity side. Their uni seemed expensive, but we think the uni we tried in Tomakomai tasted better. Maybe they were not the same species? Saw a comment complaining about missing a dish because of lateness. This is a normal practice in Japanese sushi omakase restaurants. This restaurant had also reminded us about this on Tabelog and other online reservation websites.

We were hesitant to book because some of the negative reviews. I am glad we made it! It was a special night to remember! My fav were the special uni and the Iwashi!!! Highly recommend!!!

Not sure what all the complaints about foreigners were about. Chef was amazing in his craft with each bite blowing us away. Part of the experience is not just to enjoy his food, but to observe the fruits of his 23 years of labour and practice. I’ve never seen a knife glide through delicate fish that smoothly before. Truly a testament to his incredible ability. Despite wearing a mask (likely due to precautions made after the pandemic), we could tell he kept a smile on his face the entire time and enjoyed making the food for us as much as we enjoyed eating it. With each course, the chef would explain briefly in a quiet voice what we were eating. As the restaurant only has 8 seats, this was likely done to keep a quiet and peaceful environment. If we didn’t hear him, we would ask and he would be happy to explain in both English and Japanese. Highlights of our night were both cuts of Maguro (Tuna - Akami and Otoro), Anago (Saltwater Eel), Sawara (Japanese Spanish Mackerel) and Uni (Sea Urchin). Prior to coming to Susukino Sushikin, I had disliked the taste of Uni. Having it at this restaurant made me realise all the previous stuff I had was either poor quality or just not fresh. With a restaurant this high end, having being listed on the Michelin guide in previous years, you are promised good service, food and drink. This promise was lived up to and largely exceeded. It didn’t faze us that the drinks menu had no prices. By going to this kind of restaurant, the expectation should be that you pull all stops and go all out to try and have as good an experience as possible. Failing to do that would be both a disfavour to yourself and your hard earned cash.

Great Michelin star sushi restaurant. Chef has his own charisma but quite nice and kind. Chef and staffs can speak english freely. Sushi was absolutely gorgeous. As you know, most of the delicious seafood are from Hokkaido so it cannot disappoint you. Tuna was the best personally. Also the glassware of the drinks was astonishing including Baccarat beer glass. Highly recommend!

The person in charge of When I asked about it, she said with a nice smile that there was a shop on the second floor. If it wasn’t for this person, I wouldn’t have had the courage to go in alone (bitter smile). As I was looking at the beers at the kiosk, a staff member was attentive to me and unexpectedly said to me that he had taken the trouble to come and show me around, and even gave me a beer while giving me a one-on-one tour of the brewery. Looking at the website, I was embarrassed to say that it opened in 1999 and has been brewing here for over 20 years and holding various events, but I have become a fan of Otaru beer. Since they use live yeast, they only deliver within 100km. (You can order it online.) As a countermeasure against the coronavirus, if you make a reservation in advance, you can tour the brewery and receive up to 20 glasses of freshly brewed Otaru beer on one plate. Visiting on the JR train and being able to come back feeling tipsy and swayed by the train is an event that I would definitely like to go to again, even if there is a fee. The friendly staff, fluent in English, are eager to assist and ensure you have a memorable experience.
As a tourist this place was really good. Unlimited cocktails felt really good. Bit questionable why we got sat at the bar and not a table with a view. could be foreigner treatment but the waiter also asked us a lot what drink we wanted and kept up. We thought it was rude to ask the bartender directly for drinks but could’ve been the case they put us there so we could. Staff were really nice and spoke English. He explained the menu very well. The view is great. Definitely recommend as a foreigner. Watching the bartender make so many drinks made me want to tip if it was allowed.

This place came up on google when searching for bars to visit in Sapporo. My cousin and I chose the Ala carte plan and ordered a cocktail (replicant and berry berry) for 900yen each. They sat us by the window where we could enjoy the view. Cocktails were really sweet. When the bill came, we were charged an extra 500 yen each as a seat charge. Felt ripped off as there were no notice beforehand unlike other bars like Nikka bar.

Available seating is expansive, but service seemed stretched thin during a Wednesday lunch. While our pasta and pizza lunch sets were not going to win any awards any time soon, they were “ok.” My salami pizza was floppy to the extent that it was difficult to eat at times, but the taste was fine. Meer Lounge is a great place to take a break from shopping and sit down and relax. The atmosphere is pleasant and, so long as you don’t expect great food, it’s worth a visit.

But when I go again the next day, the cashier is a different person and apparently NOW you need to be a member for the normal price and instead we were given a full english menu that stated ¥2000 for an hour? wow, the price difference is ridiculous, do they think we are stupid? We can't even ask if this was a mistake because the lady keeps on ignoring us and even went ahead to service the people after us, mind you we speak japanese, but she won't even attempt to tend us because we are clearly foreigners. Very rude. Props to the guy from the day before, but this lady infuriates us so much we just left the store.

It was an expensive club. Cover is 2000 yen for men and 1000 for women. We came on a Saturday. It had some sort of local celebrity in there, and it felt like everyone came to see her. Barely anybody danced, and the DJ simply would not shut up. It's just... not a fun place, I guess? Had more fun at the Utage (which is free for foreigners). A hard pass.
T N — Google review
Pricey entrance. Extremely frugal alcoholic beverages, a shot of anything, like tequila is maybe 15-18ml when typically it is supposed to be 21-25ml. More chaser than alcohol in cocktails. Sometimes ok music? But Mediocre performance by go-go dancers. Booty and Utage are much better.

Paid 3000yen for this club and it's rubbish. The music is the same stuff again and again. Every seat in the club is forbidden and guarded by a bouncer. Even standing in front of the bar for longer than 10 seconds you are approached and asked to move. The drinks are 99% mixer 1% alcohol. And there is seemingly no chill out place where you can sit and talk to your friends for a bit. I'd recommend Booty over this place anyday of the week.

Kaiyotei Susukino store (seafood) is renowned for serving the best sea urchin in Hokkaido. Visitors have raved about the incredibly delicious sea urchin, urging others to experience its exceptional taste. Despite visiting close to closing time, patrons were impressed by the attentive service and quick service, ensuring a delightful dining experience.
Great service and great food. I went at about 11pm right before it is about to close, they were worried we are slow but end up we ate very quickly.

Tried reserving twice using google (645pm and 8pm) and requests were denied saying the restaurant is unavailable. If the time slot if not available then why make it available on google? No reason was given as to why the restaurant decided to deny the reservation as well. Unpleasant experience.
RY L — Google review
I have tried many sea urchin in Hokkaido, in my opinion that this restaurant's sea urchin is the best. I never tried super delicious sea urchin ever. I want you to try this sea urchin and also want to know how was that.

(Translated by Google) We went on a Saturday at 5pm. We made a reservation about a month in advance, but it seemed like we didn't need to make a reservation that early. We thought we wouldn't be able to eat live squid because of the poor squid catch, but there were squid swimming around in the water just inside the entrance. The live squid was translucent, sweet, and had a great texture. The only downside was that the crab cream croquette was a little cold inside! We wanted it freshly fried and piping hot. All of the sashimi is delicious, no matter what you order!

It is quite popular among local people. Staff is friendly and Food is tasty. We love hot pot, ramen salad and grilled shitake.

This place was great! The food was excellent and the service impeccable. I definitely recommend this place but be aware that you will have to be able to read the Japanese menu as there isn't an English one.
Oliver — Google review
A very local itzakaya, with no English menu though a few of the staff do speak English. Extensive sake and plum wine menu. The yakitori was excellent as was the ramen salad. The lamb was less good and a few dishes were just ok, but overall a pretty good food experience. Very traditional style and authentic Japanese atmosphere.
Tom W — Google review
One of the older Izakaya restaurants featuring great quality sake. A great place to eat if you are looking for good sake, and good food. A little on the pricey side, and they are super strict about how you make your nabe. If you order it, it is best to let them make it for you.
Carlin A — Google review
Probably the best izakaya in Sapporo! Very warming and friendly joint with good knowledge and use of local produces. Chef shucks scallops and oyster infront of the bar seatings! Waitress could speak good English! It’s on the 4th level.

So, I'm from Seattle. I like to make dashi, I grew up playing Rockman and Castlevania, and I like cocktails. The owner here, Daisuke-san, is a licensed dashi master, a shochu master, and an accomplished arcade game and ping pong champ. If any of these things interest you, please go here immediately. His special dashi is unbelievably good.

(Translated by Google) Very delicious seafood. There was sand or shells in the shells that made a "crunch" sound in your mouth. Other than that, the food was excellent. Especially the crab. I even enjoyed the shell sake. It was delicious. (Original) 非常に美味しい海鮮 貝に砂?貝殻?があって口の中で「ガリッ」 これ以外は素晴らしい料理でした 特に蟹 甲羅酒まで楽しめました 美味しかった~

(Translated by Google) This is a restaurant aimed at tourists. The food was average, so it felt a bit overpriced. The interior wasn't exactly commensurate with the price, and it wasn't very comfortable either. I'm sure there are plenty of better restaurants out there. O'Neill's is a cozy and inviting Irish pub that offers a pleasant atmosphere for enjoying a pint. During happy hour, you can savor a classic pint for an affordable price. The pub boasts a laid-back ambiance and an extensive selection of beers. Additionally, patrons appreciate the delicious curry-flavored sauce served with the fish and chips, making it a popular choice among visitors seeking relaxation and good brews.
Relaxing and casual atmosphere, great variety of beers. I love this curry flavor sauce for fish and chips.

NO Wifi in house! Went to this pub as I was killing time before I board the night bus going to Hakodate. Their clients are mostly Japanese.
Joseph M — Google review
Good comfortable place for a pint in a good atmosphere. Only 500 yen for a pint of classic in happy hour.edit: Happy hour price just hiked up to 650 yen. A bit of a rip off now. I've abandoned it. A lot of pubs in Japan did this at the 2% tax increase time thinking nobody would notice.
Eoin L — Google review
Good beer, nice people. Food is okay. Very Smokey and noisy, not a place to relax on your own or meet new people. Great if you have a group to hang out with.

Kissho is a fantastic Izakaya where you can enjoy a delightful hot pot, quality meats, and fine sake. The restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere with English-speaking staff and menus. Visitors rave about the fresh sashimi and reasonable prices, making it an ideal spot to indulge in good food and excellent sake.
English menu is incomplete. Use a translator! You order by pressing the button on the table. We arrived late and got a private box: cosy! We enjoyed the sake tasting set, as well as the inspired hot pot with sake.

Great Izakaya with English menu and helpful staff. Not everything was available in the English menu, but with Google translate we managed. We took the all you can drink option which included beer, sake and some cocktails. This we had to ask the staff for it as it was not listed in the English menu. The food was also good. Highly recommend

(Translated by Google) The food was delicious, and I enjoyed being able to sample as many different types of Chitosetsuru sake as I wanted. The staff were also incredibly friendly. Since the menu is only in Japanese, it's best to ask the staff for directions and they'll gladly explain everything to you. They barely speak English, but they even used a translator to help us communicate. The food was delicious, but the most memorable part was their kindness (especially the staff member who served our table. She was one of the kindest I've ever had). After the all-you-can-drink time limit expired, I went to the bathroom and they let me choose one last drink, which I really appreciated. You need to make a reservation (you can only try the course menu). All seats are non-smoking, but there's a smoking area right in front of the restaurant. Most of the customers are Japanese, so the atmosphere was pleasant and not too touristy. (Translated by Google) October 2025: Went for an early lunch♪ The sashimi and other dishes were delicious, but the rice honestly didn't taste very good, perhaps because it was a little dry or had been kept warm for too long. For that reason, I'm giving it fewer stars. Also, the young female staff member seemed a little unmotivated and was a bit vague in her responses to my questions, which was disappointing. On the other hand, the veteran female staff member was very polite and pleasant! I heard people around me ordering the nabeyaki udon, which is limited to 10 servings, so it seems to be popular.

"The Long Bar" is known for its use of seasonal fruits in crafting delightful cocktails, with the Melons Cocktail being a standout favorite among patrons.

Great list of whiskey and old vintage wines. Very high level cocktails as well. And old school hotel bar
Andrew H — Google review
Wide variety of delicious Cocktails, if somewhat overpriced. The crab and avocado salad from their daily specials was delightful, but the meat dish we chose from the same specials menu (pork roast) was horribly overcooked and dry to the point of being difficult to eat - and a very disappointing serving size too. Overall, the very pleasant, high-class atmosphere and nice music was good, and sampling a variety of fresh fruit cocktails was entertaining. I don't personally drink whiskey or most hard liquors but at a brief glance, their drink menu was extensive. A very nice place for a fancy, if expensive, drink with a date, but the food menu besides drinking nibbles is perhaps best avoided...

Very nice drinks, beautiful atmosphere but dislike the ¥500 surcharge per person. Some places give you something in return but no. I just don't understand paying a lot of money for a drink to then pay a charge for drinkIng it there. Anyway, like a said beautiful bar and nice drinks.
