Kosmikon is an old-style cafeneon located at the top of Fokionos Negri, where it meets Platia Kanaris. It's a traditional hangout for ouzo and meze, attracting older men who come to escape their wives, play games, watch sports, and enjoy simple meze dishes with ouzo.
In my opinion the very best Galaktompoureko in Athens, grew up with this …

Best place to get a Galaktoboureko in Athens. I did not like their Baklava. This place is a take out.
John V — Google review
Had a wonderful experience here during my holiday in Athens. This place has a very wide choice of products (quality is excellent!) and really honest prices. Highly recommended!
Fabi C — Google review
The desserts were very good. They knew I didn't know what anything was and let me sample a few Greek delights. They didn't want me walking out of there not happy. This was great customer service & thankful my friend brought me here. I highly recommend.
Corey S — Google review
A very good restaurant compared to the so-called Greek taverns in the Plaka area, Athens.
Sorin J — Google review
It's probably the best confectionery I've ever visited. If you think it is a bit overpriced, it's not, considering the quality it offers. Galatoboureko was good enough. I'm not a fan of that kind of sweets, though. Staff - except one lady - was not friendly enough, as we took our time to choose from the big variety they have. At kosmikon, I had of the best ice creams I've tasted. Don't forget to try the chocolate tsoureki flavor. It will take you to heaven!

Stani is an authentic dairy patisserie that has been serving customers since 1931. It offers a traditional Greek yogurt made from sheep's milk, topped with honey and nuts, which is highly recommended for breakfast. The place also serves delicious loukoumades (Greek donuts) that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The friendly service adds to the overall experience.
We had breakfast at Stani and it was one of the food highlights of our visit to Greece. The selection of yogurt is impressive and the sheep yogurt was particularly tasty, being rich and very strong in sheep milk flavour. This place seems to have been added to the list of many travelers to visit (justifiably so), and so take note of the line up.

I live in Turkey, so we have same desserts too. The kataifi was amazing. Like most Greek dishes, it had cinnamon. The baklava wasn’t that great in my opinion Turkey has way better. The Greek coffee was awesome exactly same with turkish coffee. Desserts were tasty, coffee was thick and perfect :) wish I could’ve gone one more time.

MUST GO IF IN ATHENS! The most delicious Greek yogurt with honey and nuts. The yogurt is rich and smooth lightly sweetened with honey while the nuts added a dimension to the texture. The rice pudding was also amazing. Very light and not overly sweet
Michelle L — Google review
I visited here twice - once for a yogurt with honey and once for a Bougatza - I was never disappointed. Find here a large variety of Yogurt dishes and Greek traditional pastries. I would eat every breakfast in Athens here if I could!
Assaf G — Google review
Authentic dairy shop and eatery. Yoghurt of sheep with honey and walnuts + traditional Kataifi almond dessert with icecream were delicious. We also enjoyed traditional Greek coffee - very strong! There was a short line to get a table at 12:00 on a Saturday, but got seated within 15mins. Worth the wait.

We have tried: Cream pie Sheep yogurt with honey and walnuts Cream They were all superb! Cream of the cream pie was the freshest I’ve had so far in my life. Highly recommended!

Cute spot in a pretty walkable, central location, and a must visit in Athens. Staff are also lovely and helpful! The best yogurt, walnuts and honey combination in Athens! Absolutely delicious! Instead of dessert, this is a fantastic option 😍 The Loukoumades are also delicious especially with the syrup and cinnamon. So delicious, had to go here every day of my trip! 🤤

The yogurt made of sheep milk it has a unique flavour. The cream it is simple, tasting like childhood. There are only outdoor tables, so on a very hot day it can be tricky. We enjoyed the experience of tasting yogurt in a traditional dairy store in Athens. The prices are affortable.

Confectionery store
Afoi Asimakopouloi, also known as Asimakopouloi Bros, is a renowned dairy and pastry shop that has been a fixture in the Exarchia neighborhood of Athens since 1915. Originally established as a dairy store, it later evolved into a patisserie.
If I could rate this place with 100 stars, I would do it. It is a pricey place, but worth every pound! Every bite one takes from any piece of sweet leaves an everlasting "arrière goût" in ones' mouth for an eternity! I think it will still be a regular stop for me when coming to Athens! And I fully recommend it!💙💙💙

This shop is one if the best pastry shops in Athens! 😋❤😋 Everything is made with outstanding quality products & tastes accordingly. 👍😋 They have a large choice of pastries, cookies and cakes as well as some savory pies that are baked daily . My favorite is the spinach pie. 😋 Their Tsoureki bread is always great and if you like traditional Greek sweets, they always have many freshly made daily! 😊😋 Their chocolates are also tops 👍👍👍 and for the festive seasons they always have lots of tempting choices... like now for Easter. 👍🐣👍🐣

Best cake I've ever eaten. Infinite flavours to choose from. They have the highest quality. I strongly recommend the cake with caramel and apple. Fair prices and the portions are generous. Extremely kind staff. Excellent altogether!
Emma Z — Google review
Im not here to comment about their products but thir attitude toward stray animals. There was a suffering bird in front of their shop and they refused to give it some water when i asked. The sales people were indifferent and when i asked to just have a paper cup to put the water myself they said their boss wouldn't approve it. They don't want birds in front of their shop obviously but not helping one suffering living being tells a lot about the kind of people they are. I am not shopping there again.

Very nice confectionary store. Lots of choices of chocolates. Enjoyed the Gelato on the warm day. The salesladies were very friendly and engaging.

One of the oldest family-owned patisseries in Athens. Their sweets (from macarons and desserts to ice-cream) are made from original recipes kept in-house for more 100 years by these lovely people. If taken away, they come in well-designed, solid packages. If you're looking for top-quality, non-franchise sweets, that's your address!

Ta Serbetia stou Psyrri is a beloved Athenian classic that takes you back to the 60s with its unique design. This retro shop offers traditional Greek and Turkish sweets, including their signature dondurma ice cream made with mastic. Located in the heart of Athens' Psyrri neighborhood, it's a sweet paradise offering an array of desserts from baklava and galaktoboureko to European delights like panna cotta and mousse au chocolat.
A fantastic place for cakes and coffee in the wonderful month of May. Weather was perfect for outdoors and the orange cake with black coffee paired so well! Hope to come back to try other cakes and desserts next time. Thank you!

Perfect traditional sweets and perfect espresso! Each dessert is 6 euros and it is more than enough for two. But, we couldn’t resist so we took each one and 1 espresso macchiato; all together 15 euros. It is worth every cent. Even though I took custard cake (galaktoboureko or something like that), I would say the other one with kataif and walnuts is better.

Awesome desserts. Place recommended by a greek friend and very nice quantity for money. One dessert is more than enough for 2 persons but we have ordered two pieces and barely could finish (6 eur each). 18 eur total including two small greek coffees.

Chatzi is a popular spot with two branches in Athens, originally from Thessaloniki. The Syntagma location offers a variety of Oriental sweets, including baklava and galaktoboureko made with buffalo milk cream. Customers can choose to dine in or take out. Visitors praise the traditional Greek breakfast options, such as spinach pie and mixed eggs from the oven, along with reasonably priced items and excellent service.
Absolutely amazing spot. Landed early in the morning and went there with my wife for a traditional Greek breakfast. Had a frappe and a Greek medium coffee, an incredibly tasty and non overbearing village style spinach pie and mixed eggs from the oven. The pictures speak for themselves... And when it came time to pay, I realized how reasonably priced everything was! To add to all this, the service was simply amazing and with a smile.! Thank you so much for an amazing morning.

We stumbled upon this delightful pastry shop/café and absolutely fell in love with it. The place was full of fresh, tempting bakery and pastry items, displayed beautifully and impossible to resist. We tried a couple of their specialties — Babas and Millefeuille, which was moist and rich, layered with a light, creamy, delicious custard and flaky pastry. Every bite was incredibly flavorful and perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, just right. The quality of ingredients and the care in preparation really stood out. The café also had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a quiet moment with a coffee and something sweet. It was a wonderful experience, and we’ll definitely go back again to try more of their creations. Highly recommended for anyone with a sweet tooth or a love for authentic, well-made pastries!

Absolutely amazing experience! Very nice Greek traditional desserts. But the right point here is the lovely service!!
Enrique M — Google review
We took our meal as takeaway. Very good traditional pastries (i liked much the galaktompoureko). Not very fun folks as there are so many customers I understand they do not have much time for each. I do not understand people barking it's more expensive when sitting: it's written on the external big menu so if you saw prices you saw that. I like the comment about EU Law and calling cops but it's exactly the same in France: it's more expensive when sitting!

Very Good We Enjoyed Our Last Breakfast In Atene❤️😍🇬🇷 With A Little Surprise Ending ❤️
Francesco T — Google review
There were two of us, and neither of us was satisfied. They brought each of our orders separately, one by one — even the coffees. My coffee was served first, and my partner’s coffee came about 20 minutes later. This behavior was really unpleasant for us. You go to a café to enjoy yourself and share the moment, to have something to eat or drink together, but this experience completely ruined that feeling. It even made the taste of the coffee and cake unpleasant for us!!!
Maryam A — Google review
This place sells nice deserts. It a bit like a tourist trap but nice for a treat. It’s a little overpriced.
Edward M — Google review
I visited Chatzi in Athens and loved the authentic Greek sweets—the baklava and was outstanding, paired perfectly with rich coffee. While the place was lively and charming, the service was a bit slow and messy due to the crowd. Still, a must-visit

Donut shop
Kpivos is a renowned pastry shop in Athens, known for serving the best loukoumades in the city. These Greek-style doughnuts are doused in honey and have been described as heavenly. The shop has been operating since 1923 and offers a traditional Greek feel with its decor. Customers praise the light texture and flavor of the loukoumades, which pair perfectly with ice cream.
A lovely, unpretentious spot to take a break while exploring the streets of Athens. The donuts were incredibly fluffy and light, not heavy on the stomach at all. The sugar syrup was just the right level of sweetness, and I highly recommend pairing it with vanilla ice cream for a perfectly balanced treat. They offer free tap water, and one portion of donuts with syrup and ice cream was just €5. It’s self-service, spacious, and has plenty of seating.
Pepa D — Google review
These are the world’s BEST loukoumades. They are light, fluffy, and made fresh in front of you. It is a traditional old shop, not sure of its history. I’m not sure what else they sold as this is what we came for. We had the traditional version with syrup and cinnamon. We visited twice they were so good. You can eat in or take away. Nothing fancy inside but the food more than makes up for this. Will make this a definite stop next trip to Athens
Vivian C — Google review
They've been making loukoumades since 1923 so I figured they're doing something right! The dining area is large, spacious and with it's old photos and memorabilia, it's quite nostalgic. We headed to the back to order - the menu is in Greek but Google Translate came to my rescue. We went for the traditional topping of syrup, cinnamon and walnuts. The loukoumades were warm and fresh - crisp on the outside (even with the syrup on top) and soft and fluffy inside. They were surprisingly light and totally delicious.
Samantha C — Google review
I visited on a weekday to try the loukoumades. You can either dine inside (self-service) or take them to go from the front counter. I opted for the classic version with syrup and cinnamon. You can also add chocolate, walnuts, and ice cream if you wish. The dough was excellently fried—not greasy, light, and crisp even after being soaked in syrup. They were served slightly warm. The syrup wasn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated, especially given the generous amount. The cinnamon flavour was maybe a bit too mild for my taste.
Diego P — Google review
Was quite the far walk but the loukamadas were delicious, they put so much honey on them there was lots for dipping. There is construction going on the street outside the restaurant so it was a little hard finding the store
Angela T — Google review
Has to be the best donuts in the world. Melt in the mouth. Try with honey ice-cream and walnuts. Share a plate with your loved one. Kiwi reviewer. OMG several weeks on and I can still imagine the melt in the mouth Loukoumades from this address. I miss it but unfortunately am 19,000 km away
Bruce M — Google review
Most of the honey was a very sugary syrup, no wonder they were very generous with it. It made me immediately dizzy. The lukumades themselves had no taste inside.

Mitropolitikon is a pastry shop located in the area of Syntagma Square since the 1930s, maintaining its quality and old-world charm. It is known for its macaroons made with a traditional recipe from the island of Hydra, along with classic sweets like chocolates, cariocas, and cakes. The family-owned establishment has a workshop upstairs where everything is made in-house. Visitors are greeted by the nostalgic aroma of sugar and butter upon entering.
Oh my. What a wonderful bakery! Traditional. Old school. Best flavors EVER! They bake with love and you can tell. The lady working there was super nice and helpful. I wanted to try a little bit of everything and she definitely helped me Do that. (Mainly Baklava) Apart from that, she gave my husband and I a free tiny ice cream (delicious) . We paid and left her 1 (one) Euro for a tip and she wanted to gift us more stuff !!! (We obviously didn’t accept) The pricing is super cheap and the quality is extremely high!!
Julieta M — Google review
This cozy spot in Athens is a go-to for traditional Greek sweets like baklava and galaktoboureko. The warm atmosphere and friendly service make it a hit, but be prepared—the desserts are intensely sweet, loaded with syrup and honey. If you’re not a fan of sugar overload, opt for milder options like koulourakia or pair with a strong coffee. A must-visit for dessert lovers, though perhaps overwhelming for those who prefer less sweetness!
Pranav S — Google review
The BEST bakery in Athens. The owner was so sweet. We came in to get pastries to go and she gave us wonderful suggestions, wrapped them beautifully, and gave us plenty of samples to go. So delicious and the owner is as sweet as her pastries!
Kelly P — Google review
Such a wonderful and friendly woman! She patiently explained all the amazing desserts she had and helped wrap up our baklava so that it could travel without leaking! Not only will you get some of the best Greek sweets, but you get to meet a wonderful person too… I would post photos, but we ate them all…
John P — Google review
The lady who works there is really nice and it is well maintained bakery. Area was clean and had bunch of varieties. We bought baklava from there, they were delicious !!!!! She even gave us different kind of baklava to try, both of them were great.
Smit P — Google review
Shop owner was super nice and helped us put together boxes of treats to bring back. He mentioned that because they used honey, the sweets/desserts were good for 10 days to a month! He even put in an extra layer of plastic wrap to make sure it wouldn’t leak. Perfect for bringing back as souvenirs.
Yanrong W — Google review
Lovely service. Amazing taste. Beautiful wrapping. Two options available today: traditional and “wedding” type (both are filo dough with syrup, no nuts) 25 euros per kilo of baklava UPDATE: 1. the careful wrapping helped the baklava stay perfectly intact in my carry on 2. The wedding type has a very light orange flavor to it and is individually wrapped so I prefer that 3. I bought another tray of traditional baklava at another bakery with great reviews, only because I wanted some baklava with pistachios to share with my family. While that baklava had pistachios, the quality and taste just cannot compare to the ones I got from Mitropolitikon. 4. The syrup is thick without being overwhelmingly sweet, which makes transporting the baklava a lot easier. The aforementioned pistachios baklava’s thinner syrup made it through the packaging and plastic bag and almost got everywhere in my carry on.
Nga P — Google review
Amazing and delicious little shop! The owner is so helpful for picking out morsels. She helped us choose from traditional desserts to more experimental ones. Everything was tasty and felt homemade- tons of flavor and richness.

Nancy's Sweet Home, also known as Nancy's Sherbet House, has been delighting Athenians with the finest desserts for over a decade. Located in the heart of Psyrri on Platia Iroon, this cozy pastry shop offers a delectable variety of traditional sweets and cakes. From syrupy treats to tahini pies and chocolate soups, Nancy's menu is endless.
I think I've tried like 10 different kinds of Desserts in this place, each and everyone of them hit the spot. The location is lovely for a chill afternoon with friends and some coffee and some delightful desserts, the area is pretty so you can also grab a couple of pictures. Also this place was recommended by local Greek friends as one of the best in Athens

We’d heard this place had good dessert in Athens so we had to try for the sweet tooth that we have. And the place did not disappoint us at all! What amazing variety of sweets and desserts they’ve got and we bought the sweet of the Lav cake which was loaded with melted chocolate. We loved it extremely! We did a take away and the service was so quick, it hardly took them 30 seconds to pack it for us. Definitely going to go back after each of my meals to try different desserts here.

This dessert place is a true gem for anyone with a sweet tooth! 🍫The chocolate pie is simply divine — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. Definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. 🍰The San Sebastián cheesecake with forest fruits is also a highlight: creamy, slightly tangy, and beautifully paired with the freshness of the berries. 🥮 We also tried the tiramisu, which was decent but not on the same level as the other desserts. It was missing that deep coffee flavor that makes tiramisu special, and the cream didn’t quite have the authentic texture or taste. Still, for the chocolate pie and cheesecake alone, this place is absolutely worth a visit!

Nancy’s Sweet Home is a dessert lover’s dream! The cakes and pastries are absolutely delicious — rich, fresh, and beautifully made. The place has a cozy, quirky vibe, and it's right in the heart of Psirri — perfect for a sweet break while exploring. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was quick even though it was busy. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Athens and craving something sweet!
Amir L — Google review
Not my finest photos, but the taste was amazing. Be warned, these are very sweet but extremely tasty. The chocolate cake was by far the star of my desserts. The ice cream that came with it was great too. Slightly on the pricier side for desserts you can get in Athens, but worth it for at least once, and for the portion size!!
Jordan P — Google review
A must goto place when you’re in Psiri for desert! Cheesecake was creamy, not overly sweet and the crust was not dry. A different tag on baklava with ice cream in the middle. Pretty sweet, but the ice cream cut some of the sweetness. The server was lovely and attentive. A great location.
Shirle T — Google review
Went to try sweets. Don't really remember the name, but you'll have pics. Was tasty and didn't take time to be served. Very busy so better call before you go so you'll be sure there will be a table. Hopefully you can scan and have the menu!!

The coffee was very good. I liked the cheesecake, and the chocolate cake was good but too rich for my taste. The tiramisu, unfortunately, wasn’t enjoyable for me.

Rozalia is a traditional Greek restaurant nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Exarchia in Athens. Despite warnings about the area, many visitors, including fellow foreigners, are drawn to this charming eatery. Established in 1978, the restaurant prides itself on serving classic dishes with a focus on using fresh ingredients from local sources. The owner's dedication is evident in the lush garden he planted to create an oasis within Exarchia.
BEST moussaka in the world? I don’t know for sure, but it is DELICIOUS!!! I also had the sea bream, which was excellent. Obviously not as tasty as moussaka, but certainly healthier! Absolutely charming restaurant! Fast! And excellent customer service! Highly recommend!

i’ve been in this place with my family and we loved it. there aren’t many options in terms of grilled meat and fish, but food is very tasty, the waiters are super nice and the atmosphere will make you feel like home. you’ll find plenty of traditional dishes for all tastes. highly recommended
Francesca L — Google review
This restaurant is cozy and serves excellent traditional Greek food — a true little gem! The portions are generous; I had the Clay Pot Baked Moussaka (they also have a vegetarian option, but I went for the classic one) and it was absolutely delicious, definitely worth trying. The Greek salad was also excellent, and for just €0.40 they served warm, delicious pita! The wine we ordered was also excellent. To finish, they offered us some ice cream — the perfect way to end the meal ❤️.

Excellent food, attentive service, good prices. Fried anchovies was perfect and salad was delicious. Pastrami pie also did not disappoint. Having lunch there was the highlight of my day, recommended to everyone!
Preloved B — Google review
Very cheap restaurant yes, but the food was the worse we had after two weeks in Greece. The service was horrible, very rude waiters joking around with each other and ignore the customers. We received the wrong food and they didn’t even apologize; just took the food away as if we did something wrong. Eventually we did receive our orders but with such a delay that everything else was already cold on the table. Wouldn’t recommend at all, there are definitely better places with authentic kind people.
Mahsa C — Google review
Very cute restaurant with amazing food! Best moussaka of my life. I also tried the vegetarian option and surprisingly, it was even better. Many locals where eating here and it felt like a real Greek taverna, not so touristic. I highly recommend it!

Rozalia is a true gem in Exarcheia, offering exceptional value for money. The portions are hearty and generous, perfect for sharing. Every dish feels like a celebration of traditional Greek cooking, full of authentic flavors and warmth. Vegetarians will be especially delighted, as the menu includes a wide and nicely curated selection of veggie options. Highly recommended!

Fantastic food, friendly service, spacious space, elegant atmosphere. I went there with a big group with work colleagues. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to different diat requirements. Because we were a bug group we had a set menu, still plenty to choose from. All the food was fresh and delicious. We were the loudest group there, thank you for the staff for being so friendly and accommodating to a big group of Australians.

Visited for dinner and ordered via the a la carte menu. The atmosphere is beautiful and the waiting staff were very friendly and as attentive as they should be. Many of the items were great (with the exception of the Greek rib eye which was slightly underwhelming) but they all lacked the wow factor you expect at such a price range. The Spanish beef fillet was amazing and definitely the highlight of the night. All in all, Cookoovaya is a very nice option in the area, but there are far better options at this price range.
George — Google review
The restaurant is definitely in the top 10% of local greek cuisine. Modern approach to excellent ingredients with talented kitchen staff and very good table service. My waitress Anastasia was fabulous, charming and knew the menu. Praises to chef the cuisine- Anna. They have one more new location on an island.
Avner N — Google review
Really dissapointing food. Extremely expensive for what it is. A salad of basically boiled potatoes for €20, the tiniest piece of amberjack fish served with literaly half a zuchini for €38, the driest piece of seabass fish served with barely boiled wild greens for €35. An untasteful joke. The service was great though! The tables near the open kitchen get way too much heat, best avoid.
NA — Google review
This is a very nice restaurant with an elegant, tasteful interior. You can tell that a lot of attention was put into the design — it feels refined but comfortable. The tables are well spaced, offering a sense of privacy that many places lack, and the restaurant itself is quite spacious. The food is excellent and the wine selection is truly impressive — carefully chosen and perfectly matched with the menu. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars for the service. Perhaps we were drinking a bit faster than usual, but we often had to pour our own wine, which slightly took away from the otherwise classy experience. Overall, it’s a sophisticated and stylish restaurant, ideal for a nice evening out — though not exactly cheap.
Maja D — Google review
I'm going this place the benefit of the doubt, it came highly recommended but I wasn't blown away by this meal. The raw fish of the day was so citrusy it was overpowering, I couldn't enjoy the natural flavors of the raw fish or other ingredients, it was just a melange of textures "a la limon." Truly disappointing bc I love a good crudo, and it wasn't cheap. My second dish was was the slow cooked goat, it was juicy and tender, but slightly on the sweet side which isn't my preferred flavor profile but others might enjoy it. The potatoes that accompany it were more like potato chips than fries. The staff was kind, and the restaurant is beautiful, don't know if I will give it another try as its quite pricy. One other thing, I didn't enjoy the style of service here in Athens that I experienced a few times at fine dining restaurants. As soon as you sit down, the waiter appears and, even before you get the menu they ask if you would like a certain item, it feels rushed, the client feels pressured and its s bit sneaky to ask if they want to have something like bread if its a premium product w an upsell without letting them know. I'd give this place a 3.9 if I could but since its not a 3 I'll give it a 4, in my opinion.

I’ve probably written again a review for Vezene throughout the years, but I had to do if again after my last meal. It still remains my favourite restaurant in Athens. Every single dish is excellent. I had one of the best fish dishes ever during my last visit. The service remains exceptional, as well as the atmosphere.

Everything we tried was absolutely delicious — top-quality ingredients and perfect execution. Prices are on the higher side for Athens standards, but definitely justified by the overall experience. The Orzo with fish was outstanding, and both the pasta and the goat neck are must-tries. Highly recommend for a refined yet warm dining experience.

One of the best restaurants I have ever visited. Vezene Athens is truly exceptional. The food was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Shrimps and the variety of starters were bursting with flavor. The main dishes, including the fettucce and the youvetsi were simply outstanding. The wine selection is phenomenal, offering both breadth and depth without being overwhelming. The service was flawless — professional, attentive, and wonderfully seamless. The staff worked together effortlessly and were almost invisible, appearing only when needed. Without a doubt, Vezene is a strong contender for a Michelin star. I will always return here whenever I’m in Athens. Highly recommended!

Delicious meal. The whole fish sashimi and deconstructed pastitsio were delicious, as was the steak.
Dev G — Google review
One of the best overall dining experiences of my life! I found this place by looking for a good steak in Athens. The reviews were good so I book a reservations. From the moment I entered the restaurant everything things started good and just got better. Ambience: The design is modern nature with lighting that accents the earth tones and naturalistic design. So when they say, “ come down in a garden” you definitely feel as in you have been set in a candle lit garden mixed with an umbrella elegant upscale restaurant! As the man out with a lady I am usually sitting in the chair as apposed to the bench, and of course these chair vary in comfort. At Vezene the chair was a solid wood frame with a leather fir. Leather cushion that made me want to order a set to take home. The bathroom was not only clean but design with every detail in mind. From the gap soap with a slight grit, to the small clothes to dry hands, and event the faucet was placed over a wooden slat sink that kept the natural design going. Service: The host, sommelier, server, server assistant, all were attentive and accommodating. We were recommended a wonderful small production semi-sweet muscat that was light fruit forward and delighted my guest. Our server went over recommendations and highlighted dishes that were staples and guest favorites. We followed her recommendation and were not disappointed by anything we tried. Plates and silverware were promptly reset for eat course. Wine and water was kept chill away from the table and refreshed as needed. Food: We tried at least 5 starters and a main dish, the core de beouef. My favorites were the pellet tomatoes with a roasted report dipping sauce and whipped cheese that was diving. And of course the Cote de beouf perfectly cooked medium sliced thin with roasted cauliflower, peppers, and garlic. Salted just so. For desert we have a dish that was moist chocolate cake with a ganaches, vanilla ice cream with winter spice, nuts. The combination of textures and layered flavors had my guest doing a little jig. Everyones taste are different so I will let the pictures speak to you. I can not recommend this restaurant enough!

Papadakis Restaurant, located in the upscale area of Kolonaki at the base of Mount Lycabettus, offers a genuine Greek dining experience with a backdrop of stunning Acropolis views from its shaded terrace. Founded by renowned chef Argiro Barbarigou, the restaurant relocated from Paros to Athens in 2005.
The review below was written yesterday. Honestly, it was so enjoyable that we came back again today. Something we don’t usually do while traveling. Wonderful dinner spot with a lovely ambience and friendly staff. We particularly enjoyed the aubergine, fava, dolmades, and the grouper; our kids loved the orzo with shrimp. And make sure to try the mastika ice cream as a final sweet finish + pallet cleanser. (One note to the kitchen: I found the Greek salad slightly too salty!) Be sure to book in advance on the weekends.

Papadakis is a truly charming restaurant: the atmosphere is elegant and carefully curated, creating a warm and relaxed setting that’s perfect for dinner. The service is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The cuisine focuses on traditional Greek seafood dishes — simple but very well executed. The menu isn’t particularly extensive, but every dish is thoughtfully prepared with high-quality ingredients. Among the dishes I tried, the barley with shrimp stood out — really delicious and definitely worth trying. We also had a fish soup as a starter, which was excellent as well: rich in flavor and perfectly balanced. Overall, a pleasant and genuine experience — ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy traditional seafood in an elegant yet cozy environment.

An amazing authentic Turkish place with amazing people and food. I came late after midnight and they were still very energetic and full of positive vibes enough to cook and serve. You can sit outside as well as inside. I chose the beyti kebab and it's as delicious as the ones I ate in Türkiye. After I got up to pay the bill I was told to sit back down because they were giving me. complementary watermelon afterwards. I definitely recommend it to everyone.

The restaurant offers an array of authentic Eastern dishes. It’s a bit of a mixed bag. Some things on the menu were really solid but others were either odd or over cooked. The Kebap meat was really good but the domus sis was dry and a little too charred. The rice was actually the stand out for me, lovely fragrant flavour. I would come back to try other dishes but I wouldn’t say it was the best Eastern food in Athens.

Athens, Greece @ 84 Veikou street. 1.2km from the Acropolis museum. Open between 9am - 5pm. 9 seatings. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We opted for breakfast. Vegetarian omelette with feta cheese, peppers, olives and tomato. We received water at the table (no additional charge) and we had cappuccinos and 2 glasses of Prosecco. The food was well presented, delicious and good. The omelette was prepared nicely and not burnt (as I experienced when ordering omelette). The owner, Agapi, and staff, Harianna, was present. The were friendly and helpful and created a friendly environment and good positive atmosphere. Definitely recommend a visit for an enjoyable brunch in a quaint and relaxing environment. Fantastic!!!

Superb restaurant, with super friendly service. The Poffies are a very cool breakfast item, which a portion being six filling pasty balls with filling. We also had a scrambled egg / tomato dish wish was delicious, although maybe a bit underdone. Really enjoyed our visit.

Such a great place for take away or dine in. Everything is made to order, so it will take fifteen minutes to prepare the food. These are similar to arancini - round breading covering a center with various ingredients. I had one order of beef & parmesean for lunch. 6 pieces, nice take away box too eat on the go. My only comment... It came with a sweet thai sauce and I think it would have been better with a tomato sauce. This type of dish is especially known for fruits and chocolate breakfast type options.

Small little place with outdoor seating. Great for breakfast. I had the Poffie egg which is fried egg with bacon on top of their pastry with a small salad. I got double eggs and everything was so flavorful. I also got the Poffie with butter, honey, and cinnamon. It was just the right amount of sweet, these little dough balls are simply amazing. If you are coming from the US don't expect quick service, that's normal so be patient it's worth the wait.

Great place, the usual variety of beer etc you can expect, but also the food is very good, everything was nice, the combo plate was more generous than I'd expected, especially for the price. So overall good value too. The only thing is I'd make the "hot" wings actually spicy ;)

I had a brilliant experience at this choux patisserie! Everything was incredibly tasty and fresh. The pastries were light, flavorful, and beautifully presented. A nice little place by the busy street of Ermou. They actually have one kind of sweet the Profiterole. The thing is thatvis always fresh since they prepare it at the time you order it. You can add a various choices of chocolate or ice cream and topings. The taste is really great and the prices are normal. If you are in the center don’t miss it. Its one of the best places for having a sweet in the center of Athens.

Amazing dessert place, it was a great experience. Surprisingly this dessert was not heavily sweet, it was just the right amount of sweetness. It has a pudding consistency and their flavors are absolutely delicious. 100% recommend this Patisserie🍨
Moni — Google review
So delicious… had the caramel & bitter chocolate (wasn’t bitter). A small one is more than enough, definitely had a sugar high. It was a like a really high end old school pudding. Pistachio eclair was also really good.
Tina H — Google review
I very liked that the profiteroles were crispy. For me it was quite unexpected and I really enjoyed it. The filling was okayish but it’s definitely not the top one. Different crème they put on top was good. The eclairs and other things they sell i didnt really like. They were oaky but not like I’d buy them a second time. The profiteroles are definitely worth trying.

On one of the busiest streets of Athens, Ermou Street, there’s a place where you can have your own profiteroles made. I tried mine with milk chocolate and pistachio, and I really liked it. Highly recommend to everyone!

I discovered it last year when I visited, and this year we stopped by every evening for dessert during our trip. The milk chocolate is excellent. We tried the ice cream and the profiterole cream versions, both delicious. If I come again, I'll definitely stop by again. If you're lucky and arrive at a quiet time, there's also water served at the tables. But there's usually a line in the evening, so it's definitely worth the wait.

Chara, which means "happiness" in Greek, is a legendary dessert spot that has been serving up sweet treats since the 1970s and 80s. The sepia walls, old-fashioned logo, and vintage menu create a nostalgic atmosphere that transports visitors back in time. Known for its house specialties like Chicago ice-cream and ekmek kataifi, this iconic pastry shop and ice cream parlour has been a top destination for over 50 years.
It is the oldest ice cream shop existing in Athens. There is tables and chairs out side the shop where you can enjoy the best ice cream and granita. My favourite one is the Mastika ice cream with an add topping of strawberry syrup. My friend had granita strawberry.

4 stars as it is a shop with long history and outdoor seating. However, their prices are a bit high and there is room for improvement regarding their service.

One of the city's all times classic patisseries. Ekmek is definitely a must try (one of the best around Athens)!!! Though desserts are great, the sitting area could be better.
Iasonas A — Google review
This is the one and only truly top spot for traditional Asia Minor desserts. Their Ekmek with mastic ice cream is unparalleled. I've been coming to this place well over 30 years and it just never gets old. Amazingly, nothing has changed to the tastes and the quality through the decades. No surprise that in the evening you have to wait for quite some time to get seated but it's all worth it. Very nice place, nothing pretentious, you can find trendy student folks on one table and 70 year old ladies on the next and it all blends nicely. The place has character and simplicity. A trademark of Patission Ave.

Baklava is undoubtedly one of the most iconic desserts hailing from Greece, celebrated for its rich and sweet flavor profile. This delightful pastry consists of multiple layers of delicate phyllo dough, generously filled with a mixture of chopped nuts and drizzled with honey or syrup. Its origins are a fascinating tapestry woven from ancient Greek traditions, Middle Eastern influences, and the culinary heritage of the Ottoman Empire.
My experience with Greek sweets, especially Baklavas, was truly delightful. They are incredibly delicious, and honestly, just a two small pieces would have been enough. But my sweet tooth got the better of me! Unlike the Portuguese sweets I am used to, these are extremely sugary, so if you’re not used to eating very sweet treats like I am, it’s best to order just a small amount. I especially loved the hazelnut (I think it was that) Baklavas even more than the pistachio ones—probably because they were a bit less sweet.
Jojo S — Google review
Little spot in the heart of Plaka, perfect for a quick baklava break. I had the walnut one—moist, flaky, and not overly sweet. They offer a great variety of Greek desserts, and the friendly staff made the visit even better. Ideal for a tasty treat while exploring Athens.
Cristiane R — Google review
🌟 The Undisputed King of Baklava: A Sweet Revelation at "Baklavas" in Athens 🌟 Forget everything you thought you knew about baklava. I have traveled to 10 cities and islands, sampling this iconic dessert almost everywhere, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt: the place simply called "Baklavas" in Athens is the gold standard. It is, simply put, the best and most delicious baklava I have ever had. My two visits to this Athenian confectionery were not just purchases—they were sweet pilgrimages that redefined my appreciation for this classic pastry. While other places offer a respectable treat, "Baklavas" elevates the dessert to an art form. What makes it truly extraordinary? The Phyllo Perfection: The mastery of the phyllo dough is where they truly excel. Each layer is impossibly thin, achieving a crispness and flakiness that sings on the palate, perfectly contrasting with the rich filling. It's clear that the pastry is prepared by hand with tremendous skill, as you can almost taste the tradition in every delicate, buttery crunch. The Golden Ratio: This is the most crucial test of any great baklava—the balance between the nuts, the butter, and the syrup. At "Baklavas," the filling is generous, aromatic, and of the highest quality (whether you choose the classic walnut or the rich pistachio). Crucially, the syrup is applied with a deft hand: sweet enough to satisfy, but never overwhelmingly sticky or cloying. It soaks into the layers to make the dessert moist and rich, yet the exterior remains wonderfully crisp. A World-Class Experience: Having tested the waters across so many Greek locales, I can confirm that this shop stands heads and shoulders above the rest. It's more than just a local favorite; it is a global contender for the title of the world's best baklava. In summary: If you are a traveler in Athens, or even a local on a quest for perfection, your search ends here. This isn't just a sweet treat; it’s a meticulously crafted culinary experience. For its unparalleled flakiness, perfect sweetness, and sublime flavor, "Baklavas" in Athens has earned its title as the undisputed champion in my sweet-tooth journey. Do not just visit Athens—visit "Baklavas." Your taste buds will thank you.

When I will visit Athens again I will definitely going there again. The food absolutely scrumptious. We tried alot if stuff and all were delicious. The cheese cake was the best that I have eaten my hole life. You should definitely give the shop a try. For me the big Baklava piece was better than the small ones even they should be the same but try yourself of course
Mayas N — Google review
If a Japanese person eats this baklava, they might find it “too sweet.” However, the flavor of the nuts and syrup is absolutely excellent. I recommend enjoying baklava with black coffee. It will make for an unforgettable memory in Athens.

If you've never tasted baklava before, "Baklavas" is an excellent place to start. Here's a tip: flip your slice upside down before taking a bite, so the syrupy, flavorful bottom hits your palate first for a more intense taste experience

Sorolop, located in the Exarchia neighborhood of Athens, has quickly become a favorite among locals for its high-quality desserts and friendly staff. The bakery offers a variety of sweet treats, including profiteroles with hot chocolate and ice cream, traditional tsoureki buns filled with chocolate and whipped cream, and an assortment of delicious ice cream flavors. Despite its relatively recent arrival on the dessert scene, Sorolop has gained popularity for its delectable offerings.
One of the best sweet shops in Athens, located in a convenient and walkable location. The ice cream flavours are simply excellent and very affordable also.

This review is based solely on the lemon cake that was recommended to us by the shop attendant. They said it is their best selling cake and after trying it, they must have lied. It is truly one of the worst cakes we have ever had; it was: 1. Too lemony 2. Too soggy 3. Too bitter (to the point of being inedible) The slices cut in the photo were not eaten, only bitten and quickly thrown away. I probably wouldn't leave a review even though the cake was egregiously bad and we were instructed to get it, but at €30 it is just ridiculous and my sense of injustice has lasted long enough to write this review. Though the place is quite pretentious, I would try other things in the future and would modify this review if I do.

We flew Aegean air and were given a chocolate with our meal. It tasted better than my Godiva. We looked up the company and found they were in Greece so we went there. They had so many tasty choices. They don't ship and they only had that one store. So we bought a chocolate bar home. It was well worth the trip.

Holy Llama is a charming cafe in Athens that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with friendly baristas. The design elements, including a glass-covered patio, lush green accents, and modern bakery case filled with unique treats, create an ambiance reminiscent of an LA design firm. It's a top choice for vegans who love pastries, offering scrumptious chocolate brioche rolls and other delicious vegan options. The cafe also serves brunch and has both indoor and outdoor seating.
I was in Athens for a few days as part of my cruise itinerary. I'm SO glad I found Holy Llama, but annoyed I only managed to go once. This is the best place for a quick bite to eat for lunch. The service was incredible, so kind, welcoming and just lovely. Now the food... Wow! I had the mozzarella and tomato croissant which was the best vegan mozzarella ever - they make it in house with cashews and it's amazing. We also had the BLT with a delicious salad with a dressing. This was so delicious too! Do not miss this hidden gem if you're in Athens !

Diporto is a hidden gem located near the central vegetable market, accessible through an unmarked double door and descending worn stone steps. This tavern dates back to 1887 and is steeped in history, rumored to have been a wine bar during Socrates' time. The subterranean space is filled with wooden wine barrels and rustic tables around a metal stove where traditional Greek dishes are prepared. Run by Mr.
It definitely isn’t for everyone. We enjoyed the simplicity of the served dishes, it was a set of simple home-cooked dishes (chickpea soup, bean stew and grilled sardines) accompanied by white wine. We enjoyed the authenticity of the place, I did not feel like in a typical restaurant where the aura, service and everything around is more important than the quality of food. Do not expect gourmet cuisine and you won’t be disappointed. We were sat with another random pair of tourists which we enjoyed too! Great opportunity to interact with people you would not normally interact with.
Shemi I — Google review
I liked the cultural experience. I read different things about the staff but we had an amazing experience. They were nice and appreciative . It’s only the owner/chef and the helper. You go downstairs, they give you a table, and you wait. They give you food , whatever they make that day. No menus, no options, none of that. Just like a homemade place in which grandpa cooks and you eat what you get. It felt culturally amazing. Simple, and nice. The price is set (15euros a person) including wine and all the food. You get salad, 2 different types of soup, fish, wine and bread. I left stuffed and happy with the experience. (The photo is of my husband and the owner, LOL)

This was one of the best dining experiences we had in Athens. There is a set menu and it’s delicious! Best garbanzo soup I’ve ever had! Everything was so good! The atmosphere feels authentic in a basement with large wine barrels and only a few tables. The chef is an old man cooking in the corner on a tiny stove and grill. Very reasonably priced, especially for the quality and touristy location. Highly recommend!
Alex M — Google review
Tucked away beneath the bustling streets of central Athens, Diporto is a hidden gem that captures the soul of traditional Greek dining. With no sign outside and no menu to speak of, this old taverna offers a truly authentic experience — simple, soulful dishes served with warmth and character. The food is fresh, rustic, and deeply flavorful — think hearty beans, fresh fish, and local beer poured straight from the barrel. The atmosphere feels like stepping back in time, with wooden barrels lining the walls and the hum of conversation filling the room. Diporto isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience — unpretentious, genuine, and absolutely unforgettable.
Alon J — Google review
A tasty chickpea stew with bread and a glass of wine for €9. No compliants there. I suspect this place is not for most visitors or even locals. The rustic feel is certainly interesting, but it is not a restaurant in the normal sense of the word. no menu, 1 serving of stew is not enough for a lunch, etc etc. Having said that, I don't mind going there again to try whatever the old guy cooks on that day, and I'll then head to the central market nearby to have some seafood ...
Li L — Google review
Diporto was a unique and memorable stop during my time in Athens. Hidden underground in a graffiti-covered neighborhood, it feels like stepping into an old, authentic Athenian kitchen — no menus, no fancy presentation, just a true local experience. The place has a warm, homey vibe, and the simplicity of it all makes it stand out. They don’t offer many options, but that’s part of the charm — you get what’s cooking that day, and it’s all fresh and traditional. It was actually refreshing to take a break from the usual gyros and heavy, oily dishes you find everywhere else. The food was simple but good, with that homemade taste you can’t fake. It’s a bit on the pricey side considering how modest the setup is, but the experience and atmosphere make it worth a visit. Definitely a spot for those who appreciate authenticity and old-school dining.
Arash — Google review
I’ve had this placed pinned to go for years and finally made it! I love how discreet it is, the cozy and family run feel. No menu, just what the sweetest papou has cooked up for the day and it was DELICIOUSLY rustic, home style cooking for the soul served along with their own wine.

Wonderful late lunch meal in this atmospheric below-street taverna. Food comes promptly after being seated and the table covered with paper sheets accompanied by a crusty pre-sliced chunky bread. Cozy rooftop with gorgeous view. Sit on the rail by the inside restaurant to hear the live Greek music and see the traditional dancing. The grilled octopus was perfect, and local wine was a great recommendation. They have many tables linking the steps up the hill which is a fun experience to try on our next visit. The tzatziki was excellent and we put it on everything. Great date night spot and worth the drive from Athens to Plaka. Reservations recommended!

I had an awkward experience here. I am a half black half white American, and I’m not sure what exactly it was, but the staff treated me very strangely especially when it was time to pay. It was as if they didn’t think I was going to, because they were hawk eyeing my every move it seemed. Also, some of the patrons would point and murmur and it just felt very uncomfortable. At this point I have been to quite a few bars and restaurants and have never felt like this, and I don’t exactly know what it was about me that made everyone behave so strangely here. On a side note, the life music and the vibe was very nice and interesting, so as a local or someone who looks like a local, you’d likely have a better experience. I wanted to like this place but there were just too many moments where I felt like a zoo animal that I just can’t recommend for others who look like me. The lamb chops were okay but very chewy and not quite as good as other places nearby. Good luck!

The Zillers Roof Garden is a sophisticated boutique hotel with a rooftop restaurant that offers stunning views of the Acropolis of Athens. The rooftop features an abstract style with green marble and a garden, providing a pleasant atmosphere for guests to enjoy gourmet delicacies. This Michelin-star restaurant serves as an all-day venue, starting with morning service and continuing through brunch and dinner.
We visited the restaurant, where there was a slight hiccup with our booking, but they managed to accommodate us. We were glad they did because it turned out to be an incredible experience. We opted for the smaller tasting menu, and each dish was a delightful symphony of flavors and textures. The presentation and timing of the dishes were impeccable, creating a visually stunning and enjoyable dining experience. The staff was exceptionally kind and attentive, ensuring that our every need was met. The highlight of our visit was the breathtaking view of the Acropolis at night, which added a touch of magic to the evening. I highly recommend this restaurant for a memorable and enjoyable dining experience.

I stayed at The Zillers with a friend a few months ago and we honestly could not recommend the hotel and restaurant highly enough. The dinner and wine pairing were amazing and showcased a variety of elements of Greek culture and cuisine. The staff were incredibly attentive and the view of the acropolis made for a beautiful atmosphere. The hotel staff, however, were the absolute highlight for me. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and maintained excellent communication both before and after our stay. I'll contextualise this statement... upon arriving in Athens from Australia to start a month of euro summer, I was informed that my suitcase had been lost. I received no additional information from the airline and could not get in contact with an airline representative in Greece, Australia, or elsewhere to sort the situation out. We also only had one night in Athens before island hoping. The reception staff at the Zillers took the issue on for me, and continued to communicate with Athens Airport even after I had checked out. The amazing staff managed to get my suitcase back to me a few days later - something I genuinely believe would not have happened without their help. From now on, I will be staying here anytime I go to Athens and I will be recommending this amazing hotel and restaurant to friends and family.

I recently visited Zillers Gastronomy with my two friends, Anna and Marianna, and we all absolutely loved it! From start to finish, the experience was unforgettable. The food was not only delicious but truly special — every plate was beautifully presented and full of incredible flavors. The staff was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain each dish, which made the whole evening even more enjoyable. The breathtaking view of the Acropolis added the perfect touch to an already magical atmosphere. Yes, it’s a bit on the pricey side, but every euro felt worth it for such a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The service, the taste, the view — everything was simply fantastic. It’s easy to see why Ziller's has earned it's Michelin star — it’s completely deserved.

We only dined here, we did not stay here. The service was outstanding. We arrived a few minutes early and were promptly led up the elevator to our table. With there being 4 of us, we had to split into 2 groups for the elevator because it was very small and it had a full mop bucket inside. That was really the only bad thing I can say about our evening. We ordered the smaller tasting menu with wine pairings. The sommelier was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. Our server was also very helpful in explaining the dishes. The night was beautiful and we had a great view of the acropolis. The food was devine and beautifully presented. It was very rich however which made me wish we hadn't done this the night before our big flight home!

We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant. The view is fantastic and it’s the main interest of this restaurant. We spent 450 € for 2 set menus, one bottle of wine at 90€ and 2 glasses of champagne. The food was well presented and nice, but for this price it was very average and lacked of creativity and lacked of flavor nuances. Apart from the view, I found it very overpriced
Franck V — Google review
My first Michelin star experience and Zillers didn't disappoint. The service was excellent, every dish put on the table in synch, every crumb removed quickly yet not interrupting our experience. We opted for the 12 course meal and honestly not every course is for everyone. The steamed monkfish, cod capaccio, and prawn valley were my favorites as well as every dessert! We really regret we didn't have time the next day to stop by their pastry bar. And the view, what can you say. Eating while watching the sunset on the Acropolis is a once in a lifetime experience.
Jay H — Google review
My husband and I had an amazing dinner at Zillers Rooftop last night. The food presentation was exquisite. Each dish was a work of art, beautiful and even more delicious. The service was impeccable, and the wine tasting was excellent. Well worth the price for a special dinner with a wonderful view of the Acropolis. Highly recommend. Bravo to the chef and staff!

Terkenlis is a renowned pastry shop with multiple locations in Athens, including The Mall and Golden Hall. Originating from Thessaloniki in 1948, it offers a wide selection of traditional Greek sweets such as tsoureki (brioche) with various fillings like olive oil or cream. Their chocolate-covered tsoureki is particularly divine and they also offer savory versions considered the best in Greece.
Excellent pastry shop famous for the greek tsoureki (brioche) offering a selection of traditional, with olive oil or cream fillings. You can also find Cakes, tarts, bread and traditional sweets. Originating from Thessaloniki, the first bakery and patisserie shop opened in 1948. We are very happy that we can find their products in Athens!!!

One of the finest stores in Athens to buy the traditional "tsoureki" with also some twists, liked coated in white chocolate or hazelnut praline with chestnut filling. Of course offers a variety of treats for the sweetoothes out there. You can find this store all over Athens. I recommend it 100%
Despoina C — Google review
We bought a chestnut sweet bread... The best ever tasted. But improbably expensive. 6 TIMES UP the super market price. I understand the quality difference but extremely bad value for money.
Chris K — Google review
A disgrace! I bought tsoureki there two days ago and it was completely stale. Horrible texture and the taste wasn’t what it used to be. And this for a very high price. You should be ashamed of yourselves to sell this
D K — Google review
Terkenlis is not what it used to be, at least as far as "tsoureki" is concerned. Better off getting chocolate staffed "tsoureki" elsewhere... However I recently tried the chocolate tart and have to say is one of the best I have experienced.

Nestled in the heart of Athens, ΑΡΙΣΤΟΝ ΛΟΜΠΟΤΕΣΗ is a charming bakery that has been delighting locals and visitors alike since 1910. With its roots tracing back to a cherished feta cheese bread recipe from 1906, this spot offers an array of freshly baked goods that are simply irresistible. While the mushroom pie garners rave reviews for its vegan credentials, some treats like the chocolate profiterole may not hit the mark for everyone.
Another famous place at the city centre of Athens is Aniston.. dating back in 1910, this place serves different kinds of pies and some sweets. We went there for a snack.. everything cost 3.10 euros and some pies are more expensive.. generally for the quantity and what they offer.. is a little bit expensive.. but still what we ate was tasty.. except the blue cheese pie that was dry....
Antonis M — Google review
Had the spinach and feta pie. You can tell the place is proud of their product. There is a lot of choice: baked, fried, savory and sweet, but the popular ones are definitely the spinach our and the cheese pastry. I have to say.. I might've had a bad batch. Would definitely give it another try.
Rienk S — Google review
I stopped by to grab a pie around 11:30 on a weekday. There was no queue, and I was served immediately. The pie was great, with crispy, light phyllo dough and a lot of spinach and feta filling. All the pies are kept in heated shelves, so you'll get your slice nicely warm.
Diego P — Google review
A bakery, tasty pastries. I was after lunch so I ate mostly the sweet ones. I didn't like the chocolate one, the small pastery tasted like a baklava with cream, this was very tasty. The other pastery had apple and castard, it was tasty but for me wasn't special in comparison to other pasteries I've ate.

A True Athens Classic! Ariston in Syntagma is full of history — one of the oldest and most beloved bakeries in Athens! You can really feel the tradition the moment you walk in. Everything is freshly baked and delicious, but you absolutely must try the kourou cheese pie — flaky, buttery, and perfectly balanced, and only €1.80 each! It’s the perfect quick bite if you’re exploring the city or need a snack on the go. Authentic, affordable, and full of local charm — Ariston is a true Athenian gem!

Our last stop of the Athens Food Tour this afternoon was Ariston Lobotesi and their delectable pies. When we arrived, there was only one other person in front of us. So a really nice respite as compared to Kosta Souvlaki at the previous stop. Before you enter, you can check out the offerings available at Ariston Lobotesi. You can have pies with fillings of mushroom/chicken, feta/spinach, cheese, sausage, chicken/bacon and more. We decided on the mushroom/chicken and feta/spinach at 2.9 euros each. As we took the plastic bag, 5c was added to a total of 5.85 euros... For the full review and details of our 5 months Round The World (RTW) travels, visit 2bearbear today!

Belle Vue is famous for their baklava kuru, a flaky pastry filled with Aegina pistachio nuts, while Papaparaskevas in Glyfada is celebrated for their perfect saragli (baklava rolls).
If you visit Nea Symirni, you should definitely stop by and get so many delicious desserts at Maxim. They are amazing and the shop owner’s hospitality and help makes you like you are home. The Greek restaurant Stoa Fix serves up traditional dishes with a twist, making it an ideal spot for those looking for quality food at an affordable price. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, perfect for catching up with friends. The meatballs and trahana are must-try items!
One of the best restaurants I’ve tried in Greece (been several times), love the combination traditional with modern cuisine, casual and chic at the same time, local clients, I can’t describe how insane the food quality was , amazing service by Marios that made us feel welcome from the very first moment, and yet all for a very cheap price. I thought I’d come back to Athens only for Acropolis, but it’ll also be for this amazing restaurant. If you’re a foodie you must come here
Mario U — Google review
This place has very delicious and refined food that is unique. The mushrooms and broccoli are a must and so are the desserts. Uniquely seasoned and beautifully presented plates. The word seems to be spreading in Athens that the owner moved this restaurant to this place because Keramikos might be the the new up-and-coming hip area. And it truely has the feeling as the restaurant was filled to the brim. The staff is really friendly and if you get a table inside it has a calming and relaxing atmosphere while outside it is much busier but nonetheless comfortable. If you visit Keramikos this is a place not to be missed.
Marc R — Google review
One star less for atmosphere because I don't like music to be too loud, so I had a seat outside on a wobbly bench. The waitress went out of her way to translate the whole menu to English and the wines we agreed on were a perfect match for the food. And the food... Just wow. I really want to meet the chef (and marry her maybe?)
Gilles F — Google review
Nice cozy place, usually crowded so it would be wise to book a table up front. The food is delicious, big portions, normal priced, not a big variety, but that's what makes all options extremely well prepared! Fried potatoes with fried eggs and sausages is a must for starter, always, always order today's special.. the rest are up to your personal preferences. Draft beer is cold as ice!!
Vasileios G — Google review
I found it to be rather disappointing, and for the portions you receive it is very overpriced. Unfortunately another local restaurant charging a premium for slightly imaginative dishes. Not worth 68€ for two people. Three dishes we had were good (keftedes, rissoto, ceviche. The fourth (vegetarian pasticio) was simply bland and not enjoyable at all - and as a non-vegetarian who has eaten at a lot of vegetarian restaurants, this is saying a lot. Honestly with so many amazing, well priced restaurants, no reason to go back. **adding this in response to the owners reply. For mindblowing vegeterain/vegan food, try Avocado at Syntagama. For similar cuisine to Stoa Fix, with incredible quality and flavour, but well priced try Secret Garden (Μυστικός κήπος) in Chalandri. There are many incredible restaurants offering mindblowing food, at a better price point - simple**

Small and cute terrace with partial views of the Parthenon. Nice staff and good food( tried meat balls, smoked feta and risotto.
Antar M — Google review
I visited the place on July 6th, 2022, a party of 4. I have longed to eat there for quite some time now so I was really excited when a friend suggested we visited. We ordered: 1) Savoury loukoumades: very tasty and accompanied with a nice sauce. I would prefer them a bit crunchier though 2) Meatballs: this is supposed to be their signature dish and the one I was anticipating the most but it was a bit of a letdown. Not a bad dish but I do not understand what all the hype is about 3) Fried chicken: Fantastic! We asked for seconds 4) Risotto: Another fantastic dish! 5) Fries: As they should be 6) Lentils: This is a bit misleading as the dominant element was rice and not lentils. Tasty but I would prefer it less salty. 7), 8): Both desserts (ekmek and chocolate tart) was very nice. Since we visited the rooftop in Mosaikon hotel, temperature was very nice and we could enjoy our dinner despite a hot July day. Service was attentive and professional. Would visit again and would recommend.
Dimitris B — Google review
A cult terrace in the down town of Athens, quite near to Monastiraki, hosts this brilliant "project FIX" small gastro-restaurant. After sunset, the view to the illuminated Akropolis is possible from some specific points of this terrace (if it was possible from all points, then the prices would certainly be completely different). We really enjoyed a dinner last Sunday there. I must admit that the team of chefs made sure to satisfy our palates, feeling that everything we tasted was, honestly, value for money. Fresh green "roka" salad with apricot slices, walnuts and vinegrette, Mushrooms' risotto, cooked and flavored with fresh butter, Fluffy grilled minced beef meatballs, accompanying with a masterpiece yogurt cream and tomato dip. Short but very good wine list. We finished our dinner with an excellently executed cool and light dessert: Ekmek with ice cream and that unforgettable mastic cream. Thanks Orestis from the team of chefs he proposed us to taste it. Many thanks to the polite waiters. Recomendation (especially for non Greeks): MUST VISIT. That's why I wrote it in English, although I am Greek.

I saw the kuneffe sign and had to stop and try some before I left Greece. It took about 10 minutes for them to heat up, and tasted fantastic! The melty cheese is slightly tart, and pairs well with the syrup-y shredded filo.

Extremely unfriendly staff. Twenty minutes before closing time, he had already turned off all the lights. When I pointed out that the shop was still open, he reacted very rudely and said he only accepted cash and did not provide receipts. The surprise star here is undoubtedly the "kourampies," those heavenly Christmas biscuits dusted with powdered sugar—truly some of the best you'll ever taste!
Beautiful cakes and baklava. Very tasty. You can see the staff making everything fresh in the background. Very friendly staff. While the croissants may not be very crispy on the outside, they are soft inside with fewer layers. The bakery also offers sandwiches and sweets. This is a good bakery, sandwich, sweets and coffee shop with very tasty items to buy. This firm established in 1890 in France but I think it does not respect it's customers very much. Why I am saying that, just because only one lady employee tries to serve everybody in Chalandri shop and also prepares coffees ,customers wait and wait to be served. It is also the most expensive kind of shop in the whole Chalandri.
