Lefteris O Politis (est. 1951) is a family-run business that has expanded to a new location in Nea Smyrni. The restaurant offers pita-wrapped souvlakis with options like juicy bifteki or spicy soutzouki beef sausage, served with fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, onion, parsley, and red pepper. The establishment prides itself on maintaining its traditional recipes while being managed by the third generation of the same family.
Best sandwiches! It's a must try in Athens. Each sandwich is 2,5€ and so worth it! Probably one of the best places and a must visit. Menu is simple, wait can be long around 10 minutes but so worth it.
Alaa C — Google review
Best souvlaki in Athens ! You definitely have to go there. Each sandwich is really cheap. Souvlaki is not that big so I recommend ordering at least two per person (but you will order more because it’s so good). Meat is delicious, juicy and well seasoned. Very friendly staff, family atmosphere. Many if simple (attached) but you don’t need anything more. Don’t go there right before closing time because they can be sold out. It’s a must visit! Highly recommend
Helena P — Google review
The BEST souvlaki place in whole of Athens! I first ordered one souvlaki as I wasn’t really hungry. As soon as I took the first bite I knew I would get another one. The meatballs in the souvlaki were very bouncy and juicy. The staff were happy that I came back and they made a new one straight away. If you are in the neighborhood try to swing by!
Zhizhong K — Google review
Amazing traditional souvlaki spot! You can really taste the quality and history here - they’ve been serving since 1951, and it shows. The meat is juicy and flavorful, the pita is soft, and everything feels authentically Greek. Perfect place for a quick, delicious bite in the city. Definitely one of the best souvlakis around!
Martyna S — Google review
Honestly the cheapest and best souvlaki I have had till date. This place only serves one dish- Beef souvlaki. If a place serves only one dish, you can imagine the confidence they have on their single item menu. The place is always crowded but service is fast. You will have to stand outside and eat. The beef was melt in the mouth and bread was soft and juicy. Reason, while the beef is being grilled, the bread is kept on top of the beef thus making sure it sucks all the juices from the beef making it soft and fluffy! The prices are unbelievable too! Single beef kebab on bread was 2.5 € and double beef kebab was 3.8 €. I don’t know how they keep prices so low, obviously it’s a volume game which u can see with the crowd flocking!
VINOD M — Google review
Timeless place. It’s got its character, charm and vibe. The food was quite basic though: a bit oversalted, lacking taste but cheap. A must try in any case.
AK A — Google review
3 products, simple as that. Very quick service, small price for small portion, but great value for food. Traditional old school place!
SVC — Google review
In my opinion, Lefteris O Politis serves one of the best souvlaki in Athens. The place is ironically as "Spartan" as it gets—simple, no-frills, but incredibly efficient and fast. The focus is entirely on the food, and it delivers. What I appreciated most was the ability to customise both the amount of meat and the level of spices, making each souvlaki just right for personal taste. Since we were waiting for dinner, we only had one each, but it was enough to appreciate the quality and flavour. The meat was perfectly grilled, well-seasoned, and wrapped in soft pita with just the right balance of onions and tomatoes. The overall experience was excellent, and I highly recommend stopping by—preferably on an empty stomach, so you can truly enjoy more than just one.

Restaurant
Hoocut is a modern take on the classic Greek fast food, souvlaki. Located in Athens, this restaurant offers an artisanal spin on the traditional dish by using carefully sourced meats such as pork, chicken, lamb, and beef. They also serve a vegetarian version of souvlaki. The open kitchen resembles separate shops including a bakery for fresh pita bread, a greengrocers, a butchers shop, and a grill house.
A local recommended this place and we were pleasantly impressed! Food: 5/5 tasty beef and traditional pork pittas along with the tastiest, the cheese spread with dip. Service: 5:5 servers were friendly and nice Atmosphere: 5/5 nice vibe with seating inside and outside
Melanie E — Google review
It’s an open kitchen, so if you sit inside, you get to see the chefs while making your meal. The taste was amazing, we had 3 different pitas and all of them tasted amazing.🤩 Highly recommended! We’ll go there again before we fly back home because its amazing taste. The service was okay.
Cindy Y — Google review
One of the best places to taste Greek street food. They do it differently than the traditional Gyros and Souvlak places. The main thing is that their products are really tasteful. I had the pita with Mutton which i have never taste it anywhere this waybin Greece. It was really good. I am big fan of Mutton meat so I definitely recommend it. The prices are higher than other similar places but you pay the quality and how much tasteful their products are. Don’t miss it if it happens to be around.
Thanasis B — Google review
After having quite a lot of gyros in Greece, hands down one of the best I’ve had! The pita bread was so fluffy and the meat wasn’t overly salty. Also fits my personal preference of not having fries in the gyros
Rebecca — Google review
Hoocut was the first place I ate at when I arrived in Athens and also the last one before leaving! That alone says a lot. Everything was just perfect from the meat and sauces to the bread and service. The staff were super friendly, and the flavors were simply unforgettable. My only regret about Athens is not eating here every single day! Absolutely amazing place 100% recommended.
Fatih A — Google review
We tried different gyros places in Athens, but it is definitely the No1. The taste is simply unbeatable, I could it eat it every day. After half hour of the opening time the place was full, so please come early for lunch.
Zoltan K — Google review
I loved the gyros at this place! The prices are great, it’s right in the center, and the service was really good. I ordered the chicken gyros.
Keyla M — Google review
Hoocut is a must-visit in Athens! Located in a great spot, it’s perfect for grabbing a bite while exploring the city. The menu is packed with flavorful options simple, honest Greek street food done really well. The open kitchen is a show in itself! You can watch the cooks preparing everything fresh, which adds so much to the experience. The whole team both the cooks and waitstaff are super friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. There’s also a great variety of Greek beers, which pair perfectly with the food. Whether you’re going for a classic pita or trying something new, everything is tasty and satisfying. If you’re looking for an authentic, laid-back spot with excellent food and a vibrant atmosphere!!

Gyro restaurant
Achilleas, a small and impeccably clean souvlaki restaurant in Neos Kosmos, Athens, has been a go-to spot for the best souvlaki since 1987. Their handmade gyros and juicy skewers are particularly noteworthy, with the marinated gyros standing out as unique due to its balanced spices and absence of unnecessary fats. The pork gyro is especially famous for its delicious, juicy, and spicy flavor.
An amazing local traditional Greek restaurant. I asked the chef to mix squid and shrimp dishes together and she kindly accepted. The food is super fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this place.
Arshia K — Google review
It very fresh and delicious with smokey taste. You NEED to go. OMG.I ordered pork. It’s the best grilled pork i ever have since I moved to Europe. It’s juicy and flavourful. I’ll go back for more! The service was friendly. I understand their main target is local people. We, as tourists, should be less demanding.
Piengnapa P — Google review
Famous place for gyros, but they serve a la carte and daily cooked food as well. We took a mix of dishes, the food came quickly and it was good. Prices were ok, mid.
SVC — Google review
I don’t even know what I had because they didn’t have the gyro so the guy suggested something else and i nodded and it was Fabulous!!! Super tasty pita, incredible chicken, something to it…absolute bomb. very cheap too
Thekman — Google review
The best gyros we've had so far! I really appreciate that they don't include fries in the standard gyro order—unless you specifically ask for them. It makes the pita feel lighter and more balanced. My wife and I were able to enjoy two each without feeling bloated. Great flavor, satisfying portions, and a thoughtful approach to ingredients. Highly recommended!
Nikolas 2 — Google review
Ate Gyros for at least a meal a day for my entire trip in Greece. This has the be the best gyros in Athens, might even be Greece. First of all, they don’t put fries in the gyros. It comes as a side. This difference already sets it apart from the other gyros and improves the overall flavour of the gyros without the greasiness from the fries Secondly, it’s has an excellent meat, vegetable and sauce ratio. In other places, you would get too little meat, and too much sauce. The cucumbers and onions were fresh and thinly sliced. Every bite comes with a crunch. The meat so juicy and flavourful Lastly, the pita bread. They were roasted fresh on the spot. It’s crunch on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It’s not bread. It’s roti prata without the buttery taste. The gyros is amazingly delicious. Best of all, it’s only 3.7 EUR per gyros and you get a hearty, healthy meal. You know this place is good. When you see crowds outside a little shop in a dingy neighbourhood. This is a takeaway shop
Danson A — Google review
They're the real deal! If you’re searching for the most delicious gyro in Athens, the kind that locals line up for, this is the spot. Hidden in a neighborhood, it’s refreshingly unpretentious, serving mouthwatering food with genuinely warm and attentive service.
Julieta B — Google review
A lovely local gyros spot. We got there really early because most reviews suggested they’re wiped clean before 9. I’m glad that we did because even then the wait time was about 15 minutes as there was already a short line forming. The premises are nothing special, though that just adds to the authentic feel imo. The pita gyros itself was superb as well.

Vegan restaurant
Cookoomela Grill offers a delightful vegetarian experience with its satisfying souvlaki wrap featuring four types of mushrooms and a variety of sauces, including tomato, mustard, and herbs. The menu also includes tasty lentil kebabs, a vegetarian soup of the day, and vegan Sicilian cannoli for dessert. With limited indoor seating but some scattered tables outside, the restaurant opened another branch in Gyzi due to its popularity.
There are so many vegan places in Athens and it was real hornet's nest to choose something during a short trip, but I hit the jackpot! We had Rainbow supreme souvlaki and cookoomela bacon n' cheese burger, both were amazing 😍 and the prices are very reasonable. If I ever return to Athens, I will definitely go back to Cookoomela, and I wish such businesses every success. ✌️❤️
Karolina — Google review
Amazing place in Exarcheia. The mushroom gyro is one of the best gyros I've ever had and the drink options were fantastic. The best value meal we had in Athens. The staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was brilliant. Would thoroughly recommend
Joel M — Google review
Finally a place with incredible veg options! The menu is super wide, and offers a lot of alternatives between mushroom gyros and lentil kebab We took the pink and rainbow souvlaki and a lentil kebab The prices are super law, we’ve spent 20€ for 3 souvlaki, a beer and a glass of vegan homemade red wine Really recommended :)
Maria T — Google review
The best value and most delicious meal! €5 for an insanely delicious and homemade mushroom gyros that blew my mind. The vegan mayo sauce was epic. Really chill, down to earth and friendly spot
Natasha B — Google review
Best vegan place in the best district in athen. The owner could even remember our order from the last time and he is super freindly. Nextdoor there is a pingpong table wich was fun too. Really lovely 11/10
Julian U — Google review
Worth of trying the food here. You can have a typical famous gyros, but instead of meat, with mushrooms inside. The mushrooms, mushy but also crunchy making them a great substitute of meat. Also the vegan sauces are really good here.
Thanasis Z — Google review
Best gyros ever had. I wish somewhere back home in Brighton could do something like these. Excellent quality, great nutritional value, non greasy and very well priced. Possibly my favourite food whilst here in Athens.
Poppy-Jay R — Google review
We loved the pitas so much that we came back three times. Perfect street food, super nice service, we didn't wait long for the food, and the portions were big enough to keep us going for hours.I think it's our number 1 for the vegan options in Athens, 10/10!

O Thanasis is a popular restaurant located near Monastiraki Square in Athens, Greece. Since 1965, it has been a family-friendly establishment offering classic souvlaki grills and pitas. The restaurant is known for its no-nonsense approach to traditional Greek dishes, with a focus on meat-centric options like gyros and souvlaki. Despite being busy, the service is quick, ensuring short wait times for tables.
A place that was always full of people. Stayed in Athens for two weeks, been there three times. The pita was really good! A bit chewy but soft. The meat was very good too. The beef was tender and the chicken wasn’t dry at all.
Nicole H — Google review
Everything was delicious, service staff were friendly and attentive. The volume of delicious food, with excellent consistency, going out the kitchen is amazing to watch. There's no great view or romantic atmosphere, you're there to eat and eat well! PS. Excellent value for money.

This place was absolutely amazing. Our server was Arsed, and his cousin. They both took great care of us and went above and beyond. The food was great, the owner should be very proud and costa the support staff was also very generous and helpful. Great place, great prices, highly recommend. Great local authentic Greek food as well.
Malou B — Google review
This was our very first meal in Athens during the heat wave, and my son couldn’t have picked a better spot. It’s in the busy area by Monastiraki Square, but the service is super fast. The yogurt kebab was juicy and packed with flavor, and the Greek salad tasted so fresh. Portions are generous, the beer was ice-cold, and the lively vibe made the crazy heat much easier to handle. Such a great start to our trip. Highly recommend!
Maggie G — Google review
I had the yogurtlu kebab, and it was tasty and full of flavor. The portion size was huge, and although the prices are high, it was okay considering the restaurants location and the big portion size. The place was packed and had a lively vibe. We also got tzatziki, pita bread to dip in the tzatziki, and red wine, all of which were good. Due to its touristic location, the restaurant might look like a tourist trap, but they actually serve delicious food.
Simar Y — Google review
Hearty greek classics that will leave you satisfied and full. The service was almost instant, meals arrived at our table just minutes after ordering and the staff was friendly. It's got a lot of 4 star reviews for a reason.
AJM — Google review
The pork was cooked very well and my wife's salad was great. The portions are very generous. Her fries weren't amazing but they were serviceable. The service was quick and the prices were reasonable. Very easy to recommend this dining spot for Greek cuisine.
Ben F — Google review
The meat I ate at Thanasis Kebab was generally juicy and cooked to the right consistency, but it was quite salty for my taste. The plus points of the place were the large portions and the well-cooked meat. Despite being ranked 46th among the top 100 restaurants on Taste Atlas and 1st in Greece, I personally don't think it deserves these scores in terms of price, service, or taste. I believe its central location is what makes it popular. If you're considering eating here, I'd recommend you think twice

Kostas is a renowned eatery in Athens, known for its delicious souvlaki wrapped in pita. The restaurant has a rich history, with the original owner's grandson now running the spotless hole-in-the-wall establishment. The menu features choice meat, tomato, onion, cayenne pepper, parsley, yogurt, and crispy pita bread. Another popular spot is Souvlakopoleion Alexandros in western Athens run by two siblings who relocated from northwestern Greece.
Absolutely delicious. This place clearly has a good reputation for a reason. The red sauce on the beef pitta was absolutely delicious. This place can get very very busy. We were fortunate to come by on a very hot day so the lines were shorter. There is a small area to sit out front. It is a nice reprieve from the heat to eat your pitta and sip on water.
Chad R — Google review
Food was decent. It was our first gyro in Greece but definitely not the best. Line took a while and the food was good but could have been better. Fries were super soggy. Pita was also delicious
Sergiu I — Google review
Best kebab pita of my trip. Bit of a wait (maybe 10-15 minutes), but the line moves quickly, and the meal is well worth the wait. They have some outdoor seating, which was filled when I was there, but the restaurant is located in a square with many seating spaces.
Katherine G — Google review
We tried the pita beef souvlaki. The place only sells souvlaki, not gyros, just to know. There are pork and beef options. I liked the souvlaki, the meat was soft, tasty and juicy, and the pita was very soft too. You should come here for a delicious souvlaki.
Emel E — Google review
The best suflaki in the area. Doesn’t look as fancy as other places but the food is excellent. Had the pork skewers, it was delicious.
Arik G — Google review
Amazing pita, with a tomato sauce instead of the tzatziki I've seen in other places. Super tasty, good price, good service. There are some tables outside to enjoy your meal. Must visit when in the surroundings.
Karina P — Google review
Fresh ingredients, very tiny bbq plancha so long lines to get a gyro. And as they do Wolt (equivalent of UberEats or Deliveroo) it becomes very long lines pretty fast Good gyro but does it worth waiting 20-30min when u can get one as good elsewhere not far ? Not sure
Chris B — Google review
Hands down, best gyro spot in Athens. For being in the dead city center, its prices are impressively cheap and its food is very delicious. The founder has been there for several decades and he was there when we went. We just asked him to make us something he recommended and thought we would like. He made us a beef gyro with a tomato sauce that I haven’t tried anywhere else. The beer is also $1.50 and well worth it. During lunch and dinner time, there will definitely be a line. The food comes out very fast.

Elvis is a popular souvlaki restaurant that started as a butcher shop in Kerameikos and quickly gained attention for its hipster vibe, lively atmosphere, and high-quality ingredients. The success led to the opening of a second location in Pangrati. Instead of the traditional wrapped souvlaki, they serve kalamaki sticks of beef, pork, or chicken with grilled pita bread.
I will definitely go back to Athens just for this, it was really good and I went back 3 days in a row! My fav was chicken while my friend love the pork, just try everything you will not be disappointed!

During our week in Athens we came here 3x! It is incredible and the food our kids asked for over and over again. Every single item is delicious.
Heather R — Google review
One of the best places for souvlaki in the area! The chicken skewers were absolutely amazing — juicy, perfectly grilled, and incredibly tasty, with a well-balanced marinade that enhanced the flavor without overpowering it. The prices are fair for the quality they offer, and the portions are generous. If you’re a fan of good souvlaki, this place is a must-try! P.S.: I’ll definitely be going back — if only for those incredible chicken skewers!
Antonis K — Google review
The souvlaki itself was delicous, juicy meat. Fries had no taste. Prices quite affordable which surprised us. But the staff could hardly speak english and their interest in us was non existent. Also, the seating inside was awful. Other than souvlaki meat, it was all mediocre at best.

Restaurant
Spondi Restaurant, located in a neoclassical building in central Athens, offers an upscale dining experience featuring contemporary Mediterranean cuisine. The vaulted stone dining room and courtyard provide a classic and elegant ambience, complemented by expert lighting.
Absolutely exceptional experience. We came in just for desserts — and were truly amazed. Every element was refined, balanced, and beautifully presented. The service was attentive yet discreet, and the atmosphere elegant without being pretentious. A true Michelin-starred gem in Athens. We’ll definitely return for the full tasting menu.
Ağamehdi N — Google review
I recently dined at this Michelin-starred restaurant and overall had a good experience. The atmosphere struck a nice balance of elegant yet relaxed, and dining outdoors added a special touch that made the evening enjoyable. The food was truly the highlight. The Pollock was my favorite dish of the evening, perfectly executed and full of flavor. I also really appreciated the amuse-bouche, which set a wonderful tone even before the bread was served. Across the menu, dishes were consistently well-crafted and made the price feel justified — the culinary side of the experience was excellent. Where the restaurant fell short was in the service. While the staff was approachable and discreet, they provided very little information about the dishes or the wine pairings. At times it almost felt as if they weren’t familiar with what they were serving, which was a bit disappointing for a restaurant at this level. The pacing of the meal, was well managed, but can’t believe we were sharing our ice bucket with two more tables 😨 When we arrived, the table and plates had some debris from the trees I think the service could be improved to match the high standard set by the kitchen. A little more engagement and knowledge from the staff would elevate the entire experience.
Marios K — Google review
My experience at Spondi was mixed. Let’s start with the setting: for a high-end restaurant, the ambiance felt rather average. Small, classic tables, nothing extraordinary, nothing that really immerses you. It’s worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant, but let’s say it’s not a deal-breaker. After all, I came for the food, not for Instagram-style décor. Still, it’s worth mentioning. Now, on to the cuisine. The beginning was excellent: the amuse-bouche of wagyu beef and arugula cigar was incredible. The duck that followed was also very good. However, the fourth course, lobster with peanut curry, was a disaster in my opinion. The flavor combination was, frankly, unpleasant—I couldn’t finish the dish. Perhaps it’s a matter of personal taste, but I found it poorly conceived. Aside from that, the rest of the savory dishes were solid. Where the experience truly collapsed was the dessert. The phrase “ending on a high note” definitely did not apply here. The mignardises were disappointing, including a melon and Espelette pepper candy that was simply unpleasant. The final coffee-based cake felt like something from a random neighborhood patisserie in the Paris suburbs—far from Michelin standards. The lemon dessert and the ice cream were also just average, again below expectations. The entrée was excellent, the main courses were overall solid, but the dessert ruined the entire experience. And that matters, because as people often say: guests remember the ending. I left with a bitter aftertaste—literally. For a bill of €160, which represents nearly a quarter of the average monthly salary in Greece, one expects a far more uplifting and memorable finale. On a positive note, I must highlight the impeccable service. The staff were extremely professional, both in their explanations and in the pacing of the meal. Overall, I would give this restaurant 14/20. The beginning of the meal was very promising, but the ending fell far short. I personally would not return, mainly because of the desserts, though I can acknowledge that the overall dining experience had strong qualities.
Ilyass B — Google review
We tried the degustation menu and were satisfied by the presentation and taste. Good wine and cocktail selection. Service was very good and detailed. Sitting inside can give one the feeling that there is lack of privacy, due to the fact that the place is small and a large number of staff is gathered very close to the tables.
Katherina F — Google review
I went recently after some years for a business meeting and everything was amazing! ULTRA excellent, discrete and friendly stuff, amazing dishes and pastry (their pastry chefs should also open a boulangerie in Athens as the pastry was in another universe, similar to ones i had at the best boulangeries in Paris), deserts, main courses, drinks and the ambience of the restaurant were exceptional. Would recommend it 100% Let’s hope next year you reach your second star, why not a Third ⭐️/ as you certainly have the team and capacity to do so!!
Alex S — Google review
Spondi in Athens is an outstanding fine dining experience that truly goes above and beyond. What impressed us most was how the team created a special vegetarian menu just for us, with dishes that were not only beautifully presented but also full of creativity and flavor. The service was warm and attentive without being overwhelming, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between elegant and inviting. Every course felt like a work of art, and it was clear that a lot of thought went into making our evening special. A top choice for anyone looking for a memorable culinary experience in Athens.

Kalamaki Bar is a modern grill restaurant located in downtown Athens, offering a variety of souvlaki made with Greek ingredients sourced from small local farms. In addition to the classic pork and chicken options, they also serve lamb and beef souvlaki for a unique twist. The restaurant prides itself on using simple, quality ingredients and providing a friendly dining experience. Situated just a few blocks away from the Acropolis, it's an excellent choice for those seeking delicious yet budget-friendly Greek cuisine.
Our best meal in Athens and one of the best grills I’ve ever had! The pork & kebab sticks are my favorite - sooooo juicy & well-seasoned!!! Grilled mushroom and sausage are also very nice! Great service! If you have to wait for table - trust me, it’s worth it!

Brilliant place. T Bone veal for less than 20 euros! Food came out fast and delicious. Pita breads were warm and fries were delicious. Service great. Friendly atmosphere. Really impressed. Great value. Great place.

We came across Kalamaki Bar by chance after reading some reviews. The place has a modern look and a pleasant atmosphere. The pork and chicken souvlaki were tasty, though surprisingly served without pita, and the buffalo burger was underwhelming. Service was a bit slow, and overall there are many better options if you want a more authentic Greek experience.

A nice, atmospheric bar with delicious food. The seafood, kebabs, and other grilled meats are delicious and juicy. The staff speaks English, and there's a menu in English. The prices are reasonable, and the restrooms are clean and smell nice. I highly recommend to try the Kalamaki salad.

Great food and atmosphere. Came here on our first night in Athens. The servers are nice. When you walk up to the large menu, they will let you sit anywhere you’d like or accommodate you to your party size. The kalamaki bar salad was delicious. Also the sausage and the skewer meats were very tasty.
Edlin E — Google review
Dinner here was the best meal we had in Athens. On Drakou Street, Kalamaki is one of the few good places in this area we wished we could return to. The staff is friendly and made some helpful suggestions. We had a terrific Greek salad of tomatoes and feta (IMO the Greek salad is a sign of how much care a restaurant takes) It was GOOD. The corn pita was superb, eaten too fast to photograph! The dish of olives was great, and we had a divine baked eggplant with diced bell peppers, wild rice, and souvlaki skewers of BBQ pork and chicken, perfectly cooked. The house red wine was good and reasonably priced. Kudos to the staff and chef, they do things right! PS, the bill for our feast was only 36 euros. Highly recommend.
Ed M — Google review
Superb restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. The Greek salad was delicious and the various kebab sticks were really great. The Halloumi kebab stick was also a personal favourite. The spicy feta dip also paired very well with olive oil and the bread. The olives are listed as ‘olive oil’ on the menu. The setting was nice with good outdoor/indoor seating. Really good service and would certainly return. It does get busy with locals (a good sign) and they offer a takeout service, if you would rather take something back to your hotel. Good beer menu.

Tylixto Greek Wrap is a popular choice at this modern and trendy spot in Athens, known for its great service and affordable prices. The pork wrap with onion, tzatziki, and fresh potatoes is highly recommended, while the chicken skewer with Tylixto sauce and feta-sprinkled fries is also worth trying. The restaurant offers ample outdoor seating on Aiolou street near Monastiraki.
I had the lamb gyro and a Greek salad, and both were absolutely delicious. The lamb was tender, well-seasoned, and wrapped in soft, warm pita , everything you want in a classic gyro. The Greek salad was fresh, crisp, and full of flavor, with the right balance of tangy feta, olives, and a light dressing. We were seated outside, and I really enjoyed the relaxed vibe. It added to the overall experience good food in a great atmosphere always hits differently. If you’re craving something flavorful, fresh, and satisfying, this spot definitely hits the mark.
Rmel’s W — Google review
We tried both gyros options—so juicy and perfectly seasoned. Honestly though, the pita almost steals the show: it’s super soft, delicious, with just a thin crust that gives a little bite. Yes, there’s usually a queue, but it moves surprisingly fast, so the wait is totally worth it. Seating outside is limited, but don’t worry — there are more seats upstairs, so it’s not a problem if you can’t grab one immediately outside.
Meltem K — Google review
Absolutely delicious gyros. Got chicken the first time, pork the second time. Both are excellent. The pita is soft and fresh. Nice balance of meat, veggies, fries and sauce. So good, we ate here twice. Line is long but moves quickly.
Alison C — Google review
Amazing gyros, super fast service, great tzatziki and fries. The extra fries with feta cheese were also fantastic - a big portion, made with care. High-quality ingredients and really fair prices. I’m a huge fan of this (greek) kind of food.
Barbara B — Google review
We only ordered the chicken gyros for lunch. The gyro was packed and tasted delicious; the regular size gyro was filling for the both of us. We went around 1pm and there was a line but it goes by quick. Limited seating outside and a few tables upstairs; we were able to quickly get a table upstairs compared to the outside seating (FYI there is no AC so it does get warm inside).
Shantle S — Google review
A recommended place that serves one of the best gyros. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything exceptional in terms of flavor. Maybe I was expecting a wow factor, but it was just meat and vegetables in a flatbread. I'm not a fan of such dishes and probably won't stick around after this attempt, but it's definitely worth a try
Agnieszka D — Google review
There is always a long queue outside this place but for good reason as the wraps are so good! We went at around 10pm and the line was a lot shorter than in the day. The halloumi wrap was absolutely delicious so I can see why this place is viral.
Lauren K — Google review
Lokks good, but definitely not the best pita in the city. The fries are over-fried and oily, there’s very little sauce, and the pita itself is rubbery. Go to the Kerameikos area and grab any pita there — it will be much better. As for seating: there are three tables upstairs, but not enough chairs, and the floor is slippery and greasy.

Gluten-free restaurant
Nestled near the temple of Olympian Zeus and the Acropolis metro, Veganaki is a charming eatery offering vegan Mediterranean cuisine with gluten-free options. This all-day cafe boasts a lovely terrace and a welcoming indoor space, setting it apart from other vegan spots in Athens. Since its opening in April 2018, it has gained popularity for reimagining traditional Greek recipes into delectable vegan versions using fresh, flavorful ingredients.
We stopped here for lunch - and the food was so good we also got take away for dinner later! It was a perfect lunch place after seeing the sights - and we sat inside - which is nicely appointed. They have restrooms and sinks downstairs. I had the avocado pocket pie for lunch, then the vegan moussaka for dinner. The pocket pie was really great with the wrap and all of the tasty ingredients - It was exactly what I wanted. Excellent vegan food! The moussaka was a really large portion - I was able to save some for leftovers the next day! Fantastic spot for vegan food in Athens - very close to everything.

I really loved this place and im not even vegan! The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, its our second time here and it never disappointed us. The gourmet salad is simply out of this world. Highly recommended.
Ayman H — Google review
We visited this place twice during our trip in Athens. The first time we got the carbonara and the club sandwich. The carbonara was nice, but the club sandwich was just okay. It didn’t seem so fresh. However, the second time we were AMAZED. It’s as if there was a new cook or chef in the house. The club sandwich looked nothing like the first time. It was DELICIOUS, a much bigger portion and seemed so fresh and warm compared to the first time. The pastitsio was also incredibly delicious!! And portions were BEYOND generous the second time. I also tried their praline and it was yummy! Overall it’s definitely worth a visit, and I’m glad we gave it a second chance. Definitely one of the best vegan spots in athens. What makes this place unique is that there’s seems to be a lot of thought in the meal composition: organic tofu, organic soy mince and gluten free pasta. This is very rare in the vegan food industry, but very important because vegans need to get enough protein from high quality foods without compromising taste and pleasure.
Rebecca — Google review
The Vegan food is fantastic and the staff are very helpful. It’s a lovely environment as well with good space and only the sound of people enjoying themselves. Decaf coffee and of course a variety of non-dairy milk options. My first food stop when I’m in Athens.

We went here for a delicious smoothie! I had the white smoothie and my wife had the yellow smoothie. The white smoothie was nice and creamy due to the cashews. My wife’s smoothie was slightly less sweet, but still tasty. €7.50 is quite pricey for a smoothie, but it was delicious. The food options on the menu look great as well. There are lots of places to sit inside or outside.

This is such an amazing Vegan Restaurant in Athens with a lot of Greek Dishes and a really cool Logo. Kind of looks like a Vegan Rebell ✌️ I had the Veganaki Special, which came with an amazing vegan Feta, Salad, Fries and some Mung Bean Patties. And my friend had the Vegan Moussaka. Both of them were really yummy.
Lukasser — Google review
I’ve gone to Veganaki twice so far on my visit to Athens and it’s been amazing both times. Prices are amazing for the fresh, delicious, and healthy food you are getting. One morning I ordered a small portion of their avocado salad and also their breakfast omelet. The vegan “feta” that came on the side of the omelet was so good. For dinner i ordered their salad that had fig, feta, and mushrooms definitely one of my favorite things i had as well as the souvlaki wrap with tempeh and I ordered side of the fava beans.
Tasha S — Google review
Server was very friendly and attentive. There’s a great range of choices here for vegans. If I had the chance I would’ve revisited to work through more of the menu. Food is on the pricier side in my experience, but I’m happy to spend a bit more to support an all vegan business.

When in Omonia, Bouloukos Kebab is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious gyro and doner meats. This casual deli-style eatery may not be a full-fledged restaurant, but it offers a cozy atmosphere with a few tables tucked away at the back. My first experience here during my study abroad was delightful; I stumbled upon it due to its affordable prices and ended up savoring an incredible souvlaki wrapped in pita.
No wait at all! We ordered, sitted and 30 seconds later we were eating. The price is very low (3,50€ for the kebab in pita bread) the atmosphere is good with only locals sitting there, probably the best kebab in Athens. GO THERE !

Kalamakia O Elvis is a vibrant dining spot that pays homage to the King of Rock 'n' Roll, adorned with posters and a soundtrack featuring his hits like "Suspicious Minds." This restaurant is perfect for meat lovers, offering an array of delicious skewered options including tender chicken, flavorful pork souvlaki, and savory lamb. The atmosphere buzzes with energy as it attracts night owls looking for a late-night bite after enjoying the local nightlife.
We stopped by for a late-night snack after dinner, and it totally hit the spot! The grilled skewers were juicy, smoky, and full of flavor. I just learned that “kalamaki” is what people in southern Greece (like Athens) call meat skewers — up north, they say “souvlaki.” Either way, this place does it right. Quick, tasty, and perfect if you’re wandering around Athens at night.
Alec T — Google review
Yummy skewers slow cooked on the grill right in front of you. Quick, cheap and fast eats. We ordered the pork, lamb and chicken. My favorite was the lamb, my wife’s favorite was the pork. Beer on draft. Can’t go wrong with meats on stick With French fries, bread and a cold draft beer. Tight interior quarters, counter table seating inside and out. Affordable street food in Athens!

VoudouLounge — Google review
Sadly they pfe cook their skewers, if I go to it to a souvlaki only restaurant I would perfer to have it made fresh... Not into steps cooked so it's faster. Also the portion of fries I ordered extra was supper small compared to my three skewer... And then they also forgot to give my Tzatziki.
Alexander — Google review
We really enjoyed our meal here and had the chicken and pork souvlaki. The meat was cooked fresh over a charcoal grill, and you could taste the difference that this made compared to a gas grill. The portions were very reasonable for the price. It was around 2.5 euros per skewer, which also included fries and some bread, and we'd recommend around 2-3 skewers per person. The Elvis theme of the restaurant was also very cool. Overall, this restaurant has a prime location in Monastiraki/Psyri, which cannot be beat for the price and quality of the food!

S H — Google review
I honestly don’t understand how this place has such high ratings. We sat down, waited, and no one brought us a menu. Eventually, we had to get up and grab it ourselves. Then a staff member came to our table and spoke to us in an incredibly rude and impatient manner, as if we were bothering him just by being there. He answered our questions with visible annoyance and brought the food and water by practically slamming them on the table. Even if the food is decent, service like this completely ruins the experience. Hospitality is about more than just food — it’s about treating people with respect. This restaurant failed at that on every level. If I hadn’t been starving late at night, I would’ve walked out. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. A place with this kind of attitude doesn’t deserve the praise it gets.

Found this place through an article in a magazine, about the best kebab places in Athens. The shop is very old but original. Reminded me of the kebab shops of the 70’s. The kebab preparing area though is refurbished. I tried the original kebab and I was impressed. Smooth flavor, not heavy or very spicy, with good balance of salt and fat. This is not the place that you will visit to stay for dinner, since there are only 3 tables. But I highly recommend it for take away, if your appetite needs a good and original kebab.

Located in the streets of Kallithea, The Rosides is a popular fast food joint that has been serving delectable souvlaki since its establishment in 1990. Despite its original name, "Souvlaki-Piroski," it is commonly known as The Rosides, which translates to "Russian Women." Owned by the charming Anna from Pontos, this eatery has undergone minimal changes throughout the years. Initially without a telephone, they have now added one to their services.
It’s like the most 90s corner of Kallithea. All customers wait with some kind of sacred patient the old lady , she’s very polite and every one knows her and salutes her with smiles. That only could tell a lot. Piroshki is very tender and delicious. Pita with souvlaki is really great but I preferred all the way the one with the patty. The red sauce in it is awesome! Prices are very reasonable for what you get and I will definitely visit again very soon!

We had one of the most delicious, mama-made souvlaki experiences we've ever had in Athens. The pirozhki were also amazing—especially the meat one, while the cheese version was uniquely tasty and had a slightly sweet twist. The lovely lady making them was incredibly kind; she waited for us to finish our first round of souvlaki, then freshly prepared the second batch so we could enjoy them piping hot. That, to me, is impeccable attention to the customer. This is an "eat-on-the-go" spot, so don’t expect tables or chairs—but that only adds to the charm. I’m so glad I had the chance to visit and experience this heartfelt, authentic place in Athens. Definitely one of the best homemade-style souvlaki spots, made with so much love.

The pirozhki is amazing, they make it with 3 different fillings: minced meat, cheese and potato. But make sure to be on time if you want to try them, because the demand for them is huge and some days they can be sold out within a few minutes. The souvlaki is also great and it differs from the regular ones, as it is not served with tzatziki, but with their own unique homemade sauce.

The restaurant boasts a broad menu featuring a delightful selection of meats and fish, with a strong emphasis on meat, which is truly the main attraction. What stood out was the grilled preparation method, resulting in less greasy dishes. The meat was not only tasty but also beautifully marinated, while the sides complemented the main dishes perfectly. The fish was also commendable and served in generous portions. We enjoyed the option to eat in the restaurant as well as take away. While the takeaway was still enjoyable, the meat was slightly drier than when eaten on-site, which is often the case with food traveling, even for just five minutes. Located right in the square, The Greco’s Project is an ideal stop for tourists looking to rest and recharge between sightseeing. I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious offerings and inviting atmosphere!

Authentic Greek Dining Near the Acropolis – A Hidden Gem Among the Crowds When we first walked by this place, I assumed it was just another tourist restaurant — busy, full of people, right near the Acropolis. But once we sat down, we realized it was the opposite: authentic, flavorful, and genuinely Greek. 🍴 The food: Generous portions, high-quality meat, and dishes full of flavor. For four people, we ordered plenty and still spent less than $50 total — amazing value considering the location. 🍰 Bonus: They surprised us with a traditional Greek cake on the house — absolutely delicious and such a thoughtful touch. 🌿 The vibe: Modern design with both indoor and outdoor seating. Sitting outside was my favorite — enjoying the breeze, watching people walk by, and listening to Greek music in the background. 🙌 The service: The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which honestly added so much to the whole experience. ✨ Final thought: It looks touristy from the outside, but don’t let that fool you. Between the food, the atmosphere, the service, and the price, it was a 10/10 experience. Strongly recommend if you’re in the area.

We've had a fantastic meal here! Appetizers were perfect and souvlaki was amazing! Excellent value for money (portions are huge). The staff was kind and helpful. See you again!

Excellent food, large portions, reasonably priced. My wife and I had pork gyros, veal souvlaki, chicken gyros and the house Project salad. Everything was very good. The veal could have used a sauce but it was still quite tasty. The house sauce on the chicken gyros was really good. We hadn't expected a restaurant that was in the middle of a heavy tourist spot to be as good or as reasonable. €38 including wine.

Good quality food. Efficient waiters. Had grilled mushrooms and seabass. Great lively place in evenings to people watch. Update: Went back for Sunday lunch two days later and the waiter remembered me. Had the grilled sea bream and it was better than the more expensive restaurant I had on hydra island.

The perfect place to test Greece food! We really enjoy, good for 3 the mix plate, we also ask fir gluten free and they prepare separate without bread and really good, they control very well. Good for dinner 9-11

Good Greek dishes at very reasonable prices. The pork souvlaki menu was top notch. The moussaka was ok, could be better. This is a chain, saw several of these during my stay.

Thes 'Greek Creative Cuisine' is a charming restaurant located in the Psirri neighborhood, known for its light and warm atmosphere created by visible stone walls and white tables. The menu features creatively prepared traditional Greek flavors, such as Pelion spentzofai on crispy bread and yogurt cod. Renowned Greek chefs experiment with traditional recipes to offer representative dishes with a unique twist.
Great Greek food with a modern twist. Some surprises in the menu such as the tzatziki avocado or the pastitsio. All accompanied by a good and quiet atmosphere and an excellent service. I definitely will come back in the next visit to Athens.

Thes "Greek Creative Cuisine" just got featured in the Trip Advisor 2024 Travellers’ Choice Awards, so we had to check it out when we were in Athens. We had dinner there and really liked most of the dishes, though some were hit or miss. The Greek salad was super tasty, but the seafood pasta didn’t impress us—just lacked flavor. The menu has a modern Greek vibe with some creative twists. The staff were really nice. They took time to explain each dish and made sure to check on us throughout the meal. They were also great at suggesting the perfect wine to go with our food. But I should mention, there was an hour wait. Make sure to get a reservation if you’re going. The place is clean and has a chill vibe, with some outdoor seating available. Overall, it was a lovely experience!
Bernie — Google review
Probably one of the best dining experiences of my life. For starters, we had the pita, potatoes, and a Greek salad. The potatoes and Greek salad are mind blowing. For my main course, I had the Mousaka. Again, words won’t do it justice. The wine was phenomenal as well. We went with a Greek varietal referred to us by our waiter. So complex and perfect compliment to the food. 5/5

The most perfect date night we had here when visiting Athens. We were SO looked after by the staff I can’t comment how friendly, accommodating and lovely they were. The food was absolutely incredible. We ate loads and just wanted more! Can highly recommend to come here and book a table is a must!

Thes “Greek Creative Cuisine” – A Must-Visit Gem in Athens’ Psyri Neighborhood During a recent trip to Athens, I planned to revisit my favorite traditional Greek restaurant, but a daunting line of people made that impossible with my limited time. A quick search led me to Thes “Greek Creative Cuisine” in the vibrant Psyrri neighborhood, sporting an impressive 4.9 rating. This place quickly became my new favorite restaurant in Athens. Psyrri is a lively hotspot, brimming with restaurants, twinkling lights, and a festive vibe that’s perfect for soaking in the city’s energy. When we arrived at Thes, they were fully booked—a reminder to always make a reservation in advance! Luckily, a no-show reservation opened up, and after a brief five-minute wait, we were seated. Pro tip: request an outdoor table when booking to fully enjoy the sights and sounds of Psyri’s bustling streets. The food was nothing short of spectacular. While traditional Greek dishes are on the menu, their “creative cuisine” approach adds clever twists that elevate every bite to something extraordinary. Each dish was a perfect blend of familiar and innovative, making the meal unforgettable. I’m already excited to return and try more of their creative offerings. The staff was warm and attentive, and the manager’s hospitality made us feel truly welcome. I’m baffled as to why Thes hasn’t clinched a perfect 5.0 rating. For an exceptional dining experience in Athens, book a table at Thes (don’t forget to reserve!) and request outdoor seating to savor both the incredible food and Psyrri’s vibrant atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back!

Greek restaurant
Mani Mani, located near the Acropolis Museum, is a popular dining spot that focuses on dishes and products from the region of Mani in the Peloponnese. The restaurant prides itself on using locally cultivated ingredients to create authentic flavors. Housed in a neoclassical building in Koukaki, it has been a favorite among travelers for years and is known for its regional specialties such as travihtes and green salad with sour apple.
Very good restaurant with kind, attentive staff and beautifully prepared dishes. The flavors were excellent across the board — the mushroom fricassee was rich and earthy, the Greek salad was fresh and unique, and the couscous main dish was truly delightful. If I may offer one small suggestion: the portion sizes, especially for the starters, could easily be scaled down a bit. Even with a good appetite (and having fasted 11 hours before the meal!), I found the quantities a little too much, which can take away from fully appreciating the progression of the meal. The setting is relaxed and unpretentious — not fancy, but welcoming. Overall, no regrets at all. A very good experience, tasty and thoughtful cuisine. A few small adjustments on portioning would make it even better.

The chocolate loukoumades were the perfect sweet ending. The service was truly the best experience I’ve had in Athens -warm, attentive, and so genuine. Restaurant
Nolan is a trendy and compact restaurant located on Voulis street in downtown Athens. The stylish eatery offers an eclectic menu featuring elevated Asian fusion cuisine, with influences from Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, Peruvian, and Chinese culinary traditions. Chef Sotiris Kontizas skillfully combines his Greek and Japanese heritage to create unique dishes that blend Asian and Greek ingredients.
Dining at Nolan in Athens was such a wonderful experience. Every dish was beautifully prepared, but the pork in particular stood out—it was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and simply unforgettable. The entire team here was warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive, making us feel truly welcomed from the moment we walked in. Their service was beyond excellent, the kind where you can tell they genuinely care about your experience. It’s the kind of place where great food and heartfelt hospitality come together perfectly
Rathasart C — Google review
Most of the food was good. However, the presentation and service were very poor. They didn't change the plates or remove the forks at all; by the end, I had about 8 forks and spoons piled up on the table. Four different waiters served the table, and in the end, they insisted on a 20% tip, which would have amounted to €24 of the bill. So, you end up feeling awkward choosing a 0% tip, even though it's not mandatory. I can say that crab dish and bread were especially good, but overall nothing exceptional.
Maria K — Google review
I went to this restaurant after a long day, without a reservation. They offered me a seat at the bar and recommended a couple of dishes. The menu was small, with interesting fusion style options. It’s a small restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The food came quickly and was excellent. The flavors worked really well together and I really enjoyed both dishes. Definitely a place I would recommend. Great food, friendly service and reasonably priced.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Nolan. The dishes are medium size tapas style and the quality was excellent. We tried the Green Beans Salad, the kushiyaki sea bass, cod tempura, angus beef and duck. Every dish was tasty. Definitely worth a visit.

Very nice place, on the higher end, with small plates. Nice service and atmosphere. Food was very good , definitely recommend the sea bream tartare. However the cod with the wasabi mayo was a bit salty, and the smashed cucumber salad more sour than we would like. Overall very good, but a bit too expensive for the food offered.

We had the most amazing meal here tonight. We arrived on time for our table, however, Greek time is a little flexible. So we had to wait almost 40 minutes until our table was clear. The manager (?) was lovely, didn’t get his name, however he was a Manchester United fan. He kept us going with some fizz whilst we waited outside. Inside to eat four heavenly dishes, which was just the right amount for two people. It was very difficult to choose from the menu, everything looked so delicious. Two desserts, and two pastries for breakfast tomorrow morning. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough, I would happily go back again tomorrow and eat exactly the same dishes. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the service was quick and efficient, and we simply loved everything about Nolan.

Tucked away in a small arcade near Monastiraki square, The Vegan Beat offers a variety of vegan delights including burgers, skewers with mushrooms, and an array of sweets. Located in the heart of old Athens, this charming eatery serves up vegan versions of classic Greek dishes like souvlaki made with grilled mushroom yiros and a delectable vegan sauce.
A wonderful vegan place. The outdoor area is beautifully arranged, and I really liked the shop’s aesthetic. The girl working in service is amazing—friendly and always smiling. The menu is extensive with delicious vegan dishes, and what I especially liked was how they transformed traditional Greek dishes into vegan versions. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. I’ll definitely choose it again and I highly recommend it.

The restaurant sits next to a Vietnamese spot. The seating is outside only but you can order take away as well. The mushroom gyro doesn't compromise the authentic Greek flavors although they use vegetables it's flavorful and cooked well. The slaw gives it nice texture and I also had the cauliflower so I added some of those pieces to my wrap ! Great add should be on the menu. 🤌🏽 We also tried the kombucha and lemonade both were well balanced if you like those sorts of drinks we really enjoyed them!. The atmosphere is great minus being off a busy road but you get used to it. Dessert looked amazing I'll be back tomorrow to try! Hospitality was great and welcoming! I'll always visit when in Athens!

We had a very enjoyable lunch at Vegan Beat. The young girl serving us was quick to serve us. We especially the cauliflower burger in the pretzel bun. We have never had a pretzel bun before, and it was delicious, so fresh!! The mushroom gyros was tasty as well. Although, it wasn’t the best vegan gyros I had in Athens. There was slightly too much salad compared to mushroom filling in my opinion. We will definitely be back when visiting Athens.

From syrupy treats to tahini pies and chocolate soups, Nancy's menu is endless.
I think I've tried like 10 different kinds of Desserts in this place, each and everyone of them hit the spot. The location is lovely for a chill afternoon with friends and some coffee and some delightful desserts, the area is pretty so you can also grab a couple of pictures. Also this place was recommended by local Greek friends as one of the best in Athens

We’d heard this place had good dessert in Athens so we had to try for the sweet tooth that we have. And the place did not disappoint us at all! What amazing variety of sweets and desserts they’ve got and we bought the sweet of the Lav cake which was loaded with melted chocolate. We loved it extremely! We did a take away and the service was so quick, it hardly took them 30 seconds to pack it for us. Definitely going to go back after each of my meals to try different desserts here.

This dessert place is a true gem for anyone with a sweet tooth! 🍫The chocolate pie is simply divine — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. Definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. 🍰The San Sebastián cheesecake with forest fruits is also a highlight: creamy, slightly tangy, and beautifully paired with the freshness of the berries. 🥮 We also tried the tiramisu, which was decent but not on the same level as the other desserts. It was missing that deep coffee flavor that makes tiramisu special, and the cream didn’t quite have the authentic texture or taste. Still, for the chocolate pie and cheesecake alone, this place is absolutely worth a visit!

Not my finest photos, but the taste was amazing. Be warned, these are very sweet but extremely tasty. The chocolate cake was by far the star of my desserts. A must goto place when you’re in Psiri for desert! Cheesecake was creamy, not overly sweet and the crust was not dry. A different tag on baklava with ice cream in the middle. Pretty sweet, but the ice cream cut some of the sweetness. The server was lovely and attentive. A great location.

Fantastic food, friendly service, spacious space, elegant atmosphere. I went there with a big group with work colleagues. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to different diat requirements. Because we were a bug group we had a set menu, still plenty to choose from. All the food was fresh and delicious. We were the loudest group there, thank you for the staff for being so friendly and accommodating to a big group of Australians.

Visited for dinner and ordered via the a la carte menu. The atmosphere is beautiful and the waiting staff were very friendly and as attentive as they should be. Many of the items were great (with the exception of the Greek rib eye which was slightly underwhelming) but they all lacked the wow factor you expect at such a price range. The Spanish beef fillet was amazing and definitely the highlight of the night. All in all, Cookoovaya is a very nice option in the area, but there are far better options at this price range.
George — Google review
The restaurant is definitely in the top 10% of local greek cuisine. Modern approach to excellent ingredients with talented kitchen staff and very good table service. My waitress Anastasia was fabulous, charming and knew the menu. Praises to chef the cuisine- Anna. They have one more new location on an island.
Avner N — Google review
Really dissapointing food. Extremely expensive for what it is. A salad of basically boiled potatoes for €20, the tiniest piece of amberjack fish served with literaly half a zuchini for €38, the driest piece of seabass fish served with barely boiled wild greens for €35. An untasteful joke. The service was great though! The tables near the open kitchen get way too much heat, best avoid.
NA — Google review
This is a very nice restaurant with an elegant, tasteful interior. You can tell that a lot of attention was put into the design — it feels refined but comfortable. The tables are well spaced, offering a sense of privacy that many places lack, and the restaurant itself is quite spacious. The food is excellent and the wine selection is truly impressive — carefully chosen and perfectly matched with the menu. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars for the service. Perhaps we were drinking a bit faster than usual, but we often had to pour our own wine, which slightly took away from the otherwise classy experience. Overall, it’s a sophisticated and stylish restaurant, ideal for a nice evening out — though not exactly cheap.
Maja D — Google review
I'm going this place the benefit of the doubt, it came highly recommended but I wasn't blown away by this meal. The raw fish of the day was so citrusy it was overpowering, I couldn't enjoy the natural flavors of the raw fish or other ingredients, it was just a melange of textures "a la limon." Truly disappointing bc I love a good crudo, and it wasn't cheap. My second dish was was the slow cooked goat, it was juicy and tender, but slightly on the sweet side which isn't my preferred flavor profile but others might enjoy it. The potatoes that accompany it were more like potato chips than fries. The staff was kind, and the restaurant is beautiful, don't know if I will give it another try as its quite pricy. One other thing, I didn't enjoy the style of service here in Athens that I experienced a few times at fine dining restaurants. As soon as you sit down, the waiter appears and, even before you get the menu they ask if you would like a certain item, it feels rushed, the client feels pressured and its s bit sneaky to ask if they want to have something like bread if its a premium product w an upsell without letting them know. I'd give this place a 3.9 if I could but since its not a 3 I'll give it a 4, in my opinion.

Great food and service! Definitely worth the wait. Was the best gyros we had in Greece and very good price too. Would definitely go back multiple times. Highly recommend if you're visiting.
Crystal T — Google review
Overhyped. The wait was over 50 minutes long because they cook on a grill flat top to order. Even with it being fresh off the grill, the beef souvlaki was dry and lacking in flavor. I rarely give bad reviews but it was not worth the wait.
Aalia C — Google review
An iconic and historical place with great souvlaki. They open at 10:25am, so google was wrong and we had to wait for a while, but it was totally worth it. The inside is full of pictures of the family, news articles and delicious smell of the food. Definitely worth a visit.

Very good Pork and Beef Souvlaki in Pita. Their fillings are seasoned better than all other gryos I’ve had

Best beef souvlaki I’ve ever eaten! Very reasonable pricing. Would recommend it to everyone.

It was fine. Not really worth the 45 minute - hour wait. Ran out of pork around 1 pm. Settled for the beef which was a bit dry.

Ella Greek Cooking is a cozy restaurant that specializes in traditional Greek cuisine. The kitchen is run by celebrated chef Nena Ismirnoglou, and features a large grocery store stocked with items from all over Greece. The food is delicious and homey, and the restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Fantastic dinner. This was our last day in Athens, and I wish we could have discovered this place before that. Everything was delicious. Even the simple Greek salad was just different and wonderful. We will definitely come back again next time we are in town.
Amir S — Google review
Beautiful decor with a relaxed vibe, and the food was delicious. Wish we were more hungry to try more dishes! We ordered the oven baked lamb, zucchini rolls, and the kebab - all very good, but I think the kebab was our favorite.
Natalie L — Google review
5 stars all round. Excellent service, delicious food, and tasteful décor. Thoughtful details like sanitised cutlery show real care. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked in small cubes. The hand-cut chips were seasoned beautifully. They cater for groups of all sizes, though I recommend booking ahead if you want an outdoor table.

Recently stumbled upon this GEM on our honeymoon in Greece and wish we found it sooner. The food was amazing - best we had in all of Greece. Their calamari was to die for. Octopus was also amazing as well as their lamb orzo. The place was very busy and we did not have a reservation. They were able to seat us after waiting a few minutes. The server forgot to bring us water after asking 3 times for it, but we were happy to have a table. Food was worth it!!!
Renata P — Google review
Before coming to Athens I did some research on good restaurants. Ella’s was on my list. So I went there on the first evening. The place is larger than expected. I could easily grab a chair. It has tables on both sides of the building and others inside (on street level and mezzanine). The food was delicious and the service was friendly and fast. With two glasses of wine, tap water, baked chick peas, pita bread, lamb orzo and octopus I ended up paying roughly 60 Euro, which is totally fair for the quality and average level for good places in Athens (to my experience).
Matthias H — Google review
We should have realised when we first walked in that the reviews do not do this place justice. We were greeted by a very impolite person and basically were treated as if it was a bother for them to even greet us even though we spoke in Greek. The food is very overrated and apart from the Domaldes which were tasty the rest of the food was very bland. Stay away from the octopus and scordalia there is no garlic in the scordalia and what is it with beetroot and the octopus definitely does not go. All meals did not live up to any of the previous reviews. Very much a tourist trap. And don’t start me on the service. The worst service out of all restaurants we have visited and as a Greek it was very disappointing. Would recommend to stay away there are a lot more pleasant and friendly restaurants in Athens
George D — Google review
We have got a recommendation from friends to visit Ella during our girls trip and it was really worth it. The flavors were exceptional, fresh and modern. We enjoyed vegetarian food, the service was great and the location central and cosy. Our food tour guide also recommended the restaurant as one of her favorites and this should mean something as she was a professional chef in former days.

Wow what a great find in Athens! First, the ambiance. It is nice and airy and so beautiful. Next the staff. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The food was delicious. The cheese was amazing! The squid cooked to perfection and the hummus and dolmas were incredible too. The veggies with peanut butter were so good too and great way to sneak in veggies. A special thank you to Andreas, Zach and Harres for an incredible experience.

Charming place, with a really great choices of wine by the glass which allows you to try diffrent varieties, our sommelier Niko was very knowledgeable and gave us all the needed details about the wines we were having, aside of the wine the food was delicious ! Greek cuisine with a twist. We enjoyed our experience, would go again for sure

Excellent wine selection. Perfect pairings, with an outstanding choice of cheeses. Definitely worth coming back to try more wines and other dishes. Great service and explanations by Nikos

I had a great experience here, one of the highlights of my time in Athens. Staff helped me create a wine tasting and charcuterie board that were excellent. I enjoyed it so much. I came back the next night for another glass of wine. Three different employees helped me who were all very informative and helpful. I ended up buying two of the bottles I tasted to bring home. Highly recommend.

Did not have any food but I’m sure it would’ve been great. We had a wine flight of four wines recommended by a friend to try and we got an in depth lesson of history, cultural and wine production around Greece. Wonderful and educational experience, lovely wines. LARGEST SELECTION.

Vintage has the biggest wine collection (by the glass) in Greece. Whatever wine you want to drink you will probably find here… and the sommeliers are happy to help with their extensive knowledge! While the place is mainly know for the wine, it is worth to mention that they are offering an excellent greek and mediterranean menu from a top chef to accompany the wines!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Athens, Vezené is a contemporary bistro that redefines Greek dining with its innovative approach to regional cuisine. This stylish eatery boasts an upscale urban ambiance, featuring sleek metal and wood furnishings alongside industrial lighting and a lush glass extension. At Vezené, sharing is at the core of the experience, making it perfect for gatherings with friends.
I’ve probably written again a review for Vezene throughout the years, but I had to do if again after my last meal. It still remains my favourite restaurant in Athens. Every single dish is excellent. I had one of the best fish dishes ever during my last visit. The service remains exceptional, as well as the atmosphere.

Jan K — Google review
Everything we tried was absolutely delicious — top-quality ingredients and perfect execution. Prices are on the higher side for Athens standards, but definitely justified by the overall experience. The Orzo with fish was outstanding, and both the pasta and the goat neck are must-tries. Highly recommend for a refined yet warm dining experience.
Derya S — Google review
One of the best restaurants I have ever visited. Vezene Athens is truly exceptional. The food was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Shrimps and the variety of starters were bursting with flavor. The main dishes, including the fettucce and the youvetsi were simply outstanding. The wine selection is phenomenal, offering both breadth and depth without being overwhelming. The service was flawless — professional, attentive, and wonderfully seamless. The staff worked together effortlessly and were almost invisible, appearing only when needed. Without a doubt, Vezene is a strong contender for a Michelin star. I will always return here whenever I’m in Athens. Highly recommended!

Delicious meal. The whole fish sashimi and deconstructed pastitsio were delicious, as was the steak.
Dev G — Google review
One of the best overall dining experiences of my life! I found this place by looking for a good steak in Athens. The reviews were good so I book a reservations. From the moment I entered the restaurant everything things started good and just got better. Ambience: The design is modern nature with lighting that accents the earth tones and naturalistic design. So when they say, “ come down in a garden” you definitely feel as in you have been set in a candle lit garden mixed with an umbrella elegant upscale restaurant! As the man out with a lady I am usually sitting in the chair as apposed to the bench, and of course these chair vary in comfort. At Vezene the chair was a solid wood frame with a leather fir. Leather cushion that made me want to order a set to take home. The bathroom was not only clean but design with every detail in mind. From the gap soap with a slight grit, to the small clothes to dry hands, and event the faucet was placed over a wooden slat sink that kept the natural design going. Service: The host, sommelier, server, server assistant, all were attentive and accommodating. We were recommended a wonderful small production semi-sweet muscat that was light fruit forward and delighted my guest. Our server went over recommendations and highlighted dishes that were staples and guest favorites. We followed her recommendation and were not disappointed by anything we tried. Plates and silverware were promptly reset for eat course. Wine and water was kept chill away from the table and refreshed as needed. Food: We tried at least 5 starters and a main dish, the core de beouef. My favorites were the pellet tomatoes with a roasted report dipping sauce and whipped cheese that was diving. And of course the Cote de beouf perfectly cooked medium sliced thin with roasted cauliflower, peppers, and garlic. Salted just so. For desert we have a dish that was moist chocolate cake with a ganaches, vanilla ice cream with winter spice, nuts. The combination of textures and layered flavors had my guest doing a little jig. Everyones taste are different so I will let the pictures speak to you. I can not recommend this restaurant enough!

The family-run restaurant serves paper-thin lahmajoun topped with vegetables, nuts, and spices, as well as pide stuffed with seasonal greens and pulses. They also offer hearty soups like pumpkin, beetroot, and yogurt at affordable prices.

Definitely get the rice it’s very good and taste like home comfort food. The pide and lahmacun wrap were ok. Trying to be a bit different with the flavours but the bread wasn’t so soft or fluffy and a little dry so I wouldn’t say it’s the best pide I’ve had. Dessert was great though.

A while ago my friend told me that if I ever go to Athens, Greece I must go to Fayrouz Restaurant and taste their Lebanese food, It is really delicious. Finally traveled to Athens and remembered his advice so I went to Fayrouz Restaurant to taste their food. They welcomed me and asked me how I knew about this restaurant. After that, the owner of the restaurant welcomed me very warmly and she was very nice.I ordered a Sultans Nest and Peinirli Pastourma both were delicious, The restaurant was small but very nice and located in the corner of the building and the other corner is the Feyrouz Coffee Shop for the same owner, I enjoyed the food and highly recommend.

We came here on a recommendation and was not disappointed! They occupy two buildings opposite each other, we went into the "sweet side" for their kunefi. We were friendly welcomed and assisted with our order. We shared the dish between 4 people. You cannot go wrong with having the scoop of goats milk gelato on top!

The owners are incredibly warm and welcoming, which makes you feel like you are in your local neighbourhood restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. Opos Palia is a local restaurant located just a short walk from the Acropolis Museum in Athens. Despite its unassuming interior, it offers an authentic dining experience with fantastic food at reasonable prices. While some may be wary of eateries near tourist attractions, this gem stands out for its delicious dishes and generous portions. The menu features enticing options like grilled vegetables salad with balsamic vinaigrette, juicy grilled squid, and flavorful pork steak.
We really liked this tavern. We had lunch here in the summer. We took two tables outside. We were served very quickly. The food turned out to be very delicious. The prices were reasonable. I liked the green salad and the stuffed tomatoes and peppers. My wife liked the octopus. A special shoutout to the person who created the cocktail menu. You don't find craft beer in every Greek tavern. The beer here was excellent. The homemade lemonade was also good. I would recommend this place to everyone who wants to visit Athens and try local cuisine.

Very good restaurant in town, the price is incredibly friendly, but the food and taste are also fantastic, be aware: the portion is big, but it is so yummy. We have 7 people, ordered 10 dishes, we afraid that we have to waste the food, but no, we finished all! Recommend the fried shrimp and squid, lamb, 4 cheeses mushroom, and eggplant in the oven!
Yin H — Google review
This restaurant was recommended by my guide who lives nearby, and it turned out to be a great find! It’s located very close to the Pantheon but away from the busy tourist streets which gives it a much more local feel. There’s plenty of seating though you might need to wait a few minutes to be seated during peak hours. I liked it so much that I went there twice. So far I’ve tried the moussaka, Greek salad, and local meatballs with rice. Everything was absolutely delicious. The portions are generous and I could barely finish my meal. Highly recommend this place for authentic food and a relaxed atmosphere.

ended up eating here for both lunch and dinner — that’s how much we loved it! The grilled Talagani was absolutely incredible, and the soutzoukakia meatballs tasted just like something my grandma would have made — full of flavor and childhood memories. The atmosphere is cozy and lively, the service is quick, and the prices are fantastic for such generous portions. Totally recommend! 🇬🇷✨

Had a good experience dining here - tried the shrimp saganaki (excellent and highly recommended), moussaka as well as the grapevine wrapped rice. All in all, a pleasant experience as food was served promptly. It’s a very popular place so staff might be hard to get the attention of at times.

Excellent place to grab a bite after a long day touring the Acropolis. Many places in Plaka are tourist traps with overinflated prices but the prices here were very reasonable and the food was delicious. We only ordered 3 appetizers(baked feta, 2 sides of bread, chickpeas and zucchini balls) and were full pretty quickly as the portions were large. Would definitely recommend.

Chef Alexandros Tsiotinis has relocated to a new impressive space with a lovely garden, emphasizing Greek cuisine and quality raw materials.
The construction of the menu is excellent. The foods are amazing. Highly recommend to add lobster to the corn soup. It was one of the best lobster dish I ever tried. The service was exceptional. I enjoyed this dinner very much. Looking forward to visiting again.

We had our first experience eating at a Michelin-rated restaurant here in Greece. They offered an 11-course surprise menu with a wine pairing. Each course had a beautiful presentation & the tastes just all came together. Aside from the amazing dishes, the service was fantastic. Each course & wine pairing was explained. This was truly an unforgettable experience!
Maria A — Google review
We visited yesterday for our anniversary. The good: 1. Most of the courses were excellent. Great culinary experience 2. My husband had informed for his dietary restrictions in time and they had prepared really nice courses for him. 3. The music was nice. The bad: 1. The restaurant felt cold inside and we kept asking to close the door and the windows. They would, for 2 minutes and they’d reopen them again. We felt very uncomfortable with the temperature and even though they assured they’d turn up the heating they didn’t. We had to physically stand up and go shut the door ourselves multiple times. This is unacceptable for Michelin restaurants. Other people were wearing their coats because they were cold too. 2. We arrived at 07.05 and asked for the empty table at the window which we were refused. The justification was we give the table according to booking date. The people who had booked the table came at 21.40. They could have told us you may have it until 21.00 and perhaps that would be ok. Also, nowhere has it been our experience to be punished with the worst table if you book 3 days before. The manager herself had an argument with us. Even though we asked for 2 tables that both were fulfilled after 21.30. Mind you the restaurant was empty when we arrived. 3. We had written in the booking that it was our anniversary - everywhere in the world they surprise us in a way- here absolutely nothing. They didn’t even mention it. Overall even though the food was great the service didn’t justify the Michelin star distinction.
Eleonora F — Google review
This was our first visit to a Michelin-starred restaurant, and CTC Urban Gastronomy truly delivered an unforgettable experience. The service was exceptional—professional, warm, and attentive throughout. The food was not just a meal, but a carefully curated journey of flavors and textures. The setting strikes the perfect balance between cozy and elegant, with a smart-casual vibe that feels both relaxed and refined. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, and the wine pairing was the cherry on top—perfectly matched and absolutely amazing.
Gregoris C — Google review
First - the assistant sommelier Zan was fabulous. Knowledgeable, fun personality, really helpful. We enjoyed the Greek wine flight. Other waiters were good. Second - Menu is 90% seafood. Overall the food was 30% exceptional (corn soup, squid pasta, beef & tart), 40% excellent and 30% good but a bit plain (souvlaki, dessert medley w chocolate / sponge cake / tart). Third - seating. There are about 25 tables in the outside courtyard. When we arrived all were empty, except one table had 2 guests. They sat us next to that table. And those two tables were positioned really close together - more than any others in the entire restaurant. * The first hour of service, there were only three tables with guests in the entire restaurant. The second hour two more tables were seated. It wasn't busy at all. Therefore I was left puzzled. Why?? Why?? Why when there's so much available space, sit us next to other people, especially this woman who was so loud and irritating. I asked them to move us before service started and the hostess acted like it was a strange request. That was a very disappointing start to the dinner. Part of fine dining is the overall dining experience. It left me shaking my head with wonder....a rookie mistake you would expect from a sidewalk cafe. So they lose a star for that.
Kimmy K — Google review
We had our first Michelin-star experience at CTC Urban Gastronomy in Athens, and it was truly memorable. The tasting menu took us on a beautifully curated journey — the flavors were unexpected in the best way, carefully balanced, and executed with precision. Every dish brought something new, and the plating was like art. Service was professional yet warm, striking that perfect balance between luxury and friendliness. The team made us feel welcome and informed without being overly formal. Each wine pairing enhanced the dish without overpowering it. There were two points that slightly took away from the otherwise impeccable evening: 1. The aperitif recommended before the meal felt unnecessary and disconnected from the menu. It came across as an upselling tactic, which slightly broke the magic of an otherwise thoughtful dining experience. 2. We were charged for a bottle of sparkling water we never ordered. It was a small amount (€6), and we didn’t bring it up to avoid awkwardness at the end of the evening, but at this level of dining, such things should not happen. Aside from that, the experience was well worth it. The team clearly works with passion and skill. It’s a place I’d recommend to anyone looking to celebrate something special or just indulge in culinary artistry.
Eleni M — Google review
Simply put, this is one of the top 3 fine dining restaurants in Greece. The service was excellent, the staff was very friendly and accommodating to our every need. The atmosphere is simply stunning (you can’t help but imagine how it would feel to live in this house and not just eat in its yard). The indoor area also seems very nice, but it seems it is mostly reserved for cold or rainy days. The corn soup (with lobster) and the langoustine welcome dish were to die for and brilliant presentation and flavour wise.
George — Google review
for a Michelin star restaurant there were a lot of hits and miss. it was overall very cute, but the flavours for the menu were more or less simple. if compared to Soil or Delta, it was neither so much amazing flavours, not techniques. The polenta course looked cool, was super plain. the souvlaki was grrat as concept, but the execution of the “meat” was lacking the meatiness. overall ok, for 185€. worth trying once.

Savvas is a Greek kebab shop located in a beautiful mansion just steps from Monastiraki Square. The menu features delicious Turkish-inspired gyros with chips and cold Greek beer, as well as ouzos. If you're looking for a relaxing afternoon out with some delicious food, Savvas is your spot!
Savvas was recommended to us by locals as a go-to late night food spot, and wow — it absolutely delivered! We ordered the saganaki, chicken, and salad, and every dish was spot-on: flavorful, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The service was incredibly friendly and impressively fast, even with the late hour. They even packed up our leftovers without us having to ask, which was a thoughtful touch. Whether you’re craving a quick bite or a full meal after hours, this place is a gem. Highly recommend stopping by — we’ll definitely be back!

The food quality and taste are amazingly good, but the service is equally poor. During the three days I was there, I came twice, and both times when they brought the water, they didn't bring glasses. Or sometimes, they seemed to forget to bring the knife and fork. However, the food tastes so great that you end up forgetting about the poor service

Nice place to have food in the center. We tried the Gyros and it was really good. We also order falafel with hummus and was okey, not the best that I ever tried but okey. Nothing to complain! The service was okey but the price maybe too high.

Although is in a very busy and tourist point, service was quite fast. We were in a group of 6 ppl, had a table in the rooftop with a view to Acropolis. Food very taste , good portion and price.
Gisele L — Google review
The rooftop views are amazing, they don’t serve gyros at the roof level, they only serve them on the ground floor. The gyros were not up to our expectation, but the other main dishes looked really delicious. We’ll definitely visit again & order something other than gyros. For the gyros; the pita bread was really thick & the chicken quality was not the best, but the sauce was not bad 👍🏼 Enjoy the views, the main dishes & avoid the gyros 😅🙏🏼

Second visit to Athens and The Hills—once again, they blew me away! First came here three years ago with my son after the Acropolis. This time, back with the whole family for our 25th anniversary, and it was the standout experience of our trip. Very lovely relaxed dining experience and had a table looking out over the acropolis. We were here for 3.5 hours, having and 3 course meal and drinks. No pressure from waiting staff. Some of the wines were out of stock but the waiter brought us some very different and interesting options to choose from. Very reasonable price for what we ate and drank.

My group and I had the most amazing experience, and the food was absolutely terrific. This was our first dinner reservation of our trip and it really set the tone. The owner introduced himself to us and was super gracious…without asking he gave us recommendations for things throughout our stay. The entire staff was great and the food was A+!

Mano and John were absolutely amazing! The food was exceptional with a view that we will never forget. What a beautiful country and what an incredible way to say goodbye. A must for anyone who wants to be spoiled

The food and service and view were amazing! Manos took the time to explain every dish and the origin of ingredients used. Ziannis was suggesting great dishes as well and was very accommodating with our daughter who had a nut allergy by checking with the head chef. We loved their attention to details. It was a great experience and we highly recommend!

An absolutely incredible experience and a complete must for anyone visiting Athens. I scored a last minute reservation and had a sunset dinner in the garden under pomegranate with a direct view of the acropolis. Food and service were 10/10. So not miss this place!

We absolutely love it here. Writing this review right after the meal (still sitting here) because my group of friends love this place so much we eat here 2 days in a row. Price is great, the pork is perfectly seasoned, the pita bread is crunchy outside and soft inside. The owner is funny and great service too. 10/10 would recommend to a friend, and a stranger.

The gyros in here were incredible! We had them four times during our two-day stay, and each one was packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned meat, fresh veggies, and creamy tzatziki. The best part? The prices were great too! Definitely the best gyros we’ve ever had!

🌯 One of the tastiest gyros I’ve ever had in my life! 🌯 The meat was perfect – juicy, perfectly seasoned, and every bite felt like a Greek celebration in my mouth. And the Greek salad? So fresh, generous, and incredibly delicious – exactly how a real Greek salad should be. The service was warm, fast, and friendly, and the atmosphere – authentic, homey, and full of life. 📍 A must-stop restaurant if you’re in Athens. Don’t think twice – just go, and thank me later. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Last night in Athens and I choose this fun restaurant because the man said Hi are yu hungry? restaurant owned by two women Helen My waitress Becky is fun and sweet Now for the food, fresh, healthy and delicious I had the Gyro and grilled cheese cheese on the grill not a grill cheese sandwich Chris

The old man at the entrance is very nice. Sadly, the lady at the cashier isn't. She ignored me completely, taking locals in front, eveen they came a minute after me and before I was alone. Then, when I have to give the order, she's talking with other locals, confusing if she talks to me or others, not even saying hello, just staring at me... Weird way to welcome customers... Made my experience bad...

Street Souvlaki offers a grilled mushroom souvlaki that may not be the best, but when in Piraeus, you might not have many options. A visitor stumbled upon this place by chance and was warmly welcomed by the hostess Dora. The inviting atmosphere and tempting aroma led to a delightful dining experience with fresh, juicy, and delicious food. The fully staffed restaurant exudes warmth and friendliness, making it a must-visit spot for an amazing meal.
By far the best small restaurant in Athens, super cheap food, massive portions, and the food is to DIE FOR, I've traveled a lot around Europe but ive legitimately never eaten beef this good. And it's all made in the span of 10 minutes, at most. Service is super friendly, and the place has many people there all the time, not crowded though, 11/10, would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Hands down, the best street food in Athens! Everything was perfect. The chicken souvlaki was amazing. The traditional cheese "ΦΕΤΑ" on top of the potatoes created a wonderful harmony. Also, the traditional beer “ΑΛΦΑ” is truly delicious. This menu costs €16. Highly recommended! Thank you.

Chose this spot for my first Gyro in Pita in Greece and it didn’t disappoint. We were walking back to our Airbnb after a long walking tour and decided to grab a takeaway. The menu was surprisingly extensive, but everything was explained so clearly that ordering was a breeze. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes, packed perfectly with no spills. The first bite was divine, loved the contrast of fresh tomato and lettuce with the salty chips and juicy chicken. The pita itself was thick, soft and fluffy, just the way it should be. Definitely going back for more.

Just ordered two chicken giros at this place. I’m not one to complain or write negative reviews, and I realise not speaking Greek can lead to misunderstandings. The meat was not giros, but grilled chicken thigh. The waiter explained they did not do giros. I can live with this, but it was undercooked. The waiter said this was normal for chicken thighs. It did not seem safe to eat though. We said we couldn’t eat it, but did not get much of a response. So we walked. Not sure about what to make of this, I had the photos analysed by ChatGPT: “The chicken pieces in the photos appear: • Deep pink to almost raw inside • Glossy/glassy, which is typical of undercooked chicken • With a texture that looks like partially raw meat, not fully cooked thigh meat This is not the normal pink tint you sometimes get near the bone or from grilling. It looks undercooked and unsafe to eat.” The fries were good though!

Allergy aware and English menu! Outstanding Greek food. Huge portions. Fantastic fries. Epic Angus beef skewer and grilled vegetables. 😋

Cannot stop thinking about the gyro I had here. Best one I had in my entire trip to Athens and it was so good I had to come back the next day. The staff were very kind, and they also have a set-up where you can buy a meal for an unhoused person. Also a gyro for 3.60€ ??? Unbeatable

Street Souvlaki serves some of the best gyros we’ve had — the chicken, pork, and kebab gyros were all juicy, flavorful, and wrapped with crispy fries and creamy tzatziki. The Greek fries with feta were addictive, and the Greek salad was fresh with a generous slab of feta. Fast service and a casual, authentic vibe make this place a must-try for classic Greek street food.

It just can’t get better. On every trip I make to Greece I plan one dinner at Papadakis, and every time I leave I feel the same way: that I’ve had dinner at the best restaurant in the country. I always look forward to it and I’ve never been disappointed.

Wonderful dinner spot with a lovely ambience and friendly staff. We particularly enjoyed the aubergine, fava, dolmades, and the grouper; our kids loved the orzo with shrimp. And make sure to try the mastika ice cream as a final sweet finish + pallet cleanser. (One note to the kitchen: I found the Greek salad slightly too salty!) Be sure to book in advance on the weekends.

Papadakis is a truly charming restaurant: the atmosphere is elegant and carefully curated, creating a warm and relaxed setting that’s perfect for dinner. The service is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The cuisine focuses on traditional Greek seafood dishes — simple but very well executed. The menu isn’t particularly extensive, but every dish is thoughtfully prepared with high-quality ingredients. Among the dishes I tried, the barley with shrimp stood out — really delicious and definitely worth trying. We also had a fish soup as a starter, which was excellent as well: rich in flavor and perfectly balanced. Overall, a pleasant and genuine experience — ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy traditional seafood in an elegant yet cozy environment.

O Gyros Pou Gyrevis, located along Athanasiou Diakou, is a must-visit restaurant in Athens. The pork gyros plate is a popular choice, with juicy and flavorful meat. English-speaking staff are accommodating, even adding chili powder upon request. While the inside can get hot due to the grill, outdoor seating is recommended for a more comfortable dining experience. The chicken gyro also receives high praise for its delicious flavors and affordable price.
We landed in Greece, came right to our hotel and checked in. As we were out exploring we spotted Gyros Pou Gyrevis. There was a large crowd, so we decided to try it. We followed the protocol, placed and paid for our food. While that was being done one of the group was able to get a table (we were lucky!). The gyros and salad were fantastic! Just like we remembered them from the last time we were in Greece. The service was good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

There was a long line, but it went quickly. The cashier had what appeared to be a meltdown and walked away from the cash register, which slowed everything down. But once we got the food, it was surprisingly good, but the chicken was a little dry. Definitely good value for the cost, however
Michelle R — Google review
This location is right around the corner from the Acropolis museum on the walkway strip. The food here is consistently delicious full of flavour and the portions are just right. They have been serving the public for many years and know exactly how to marinate and serve their food properly. I do visit this spot every time I go through Athens and would highly recommend if your from the city or just visiting. The pictures to not do any justice just go and try it and thank me later. Enjoy.

Honestly, the best place you can eat Gyros in: incredibly cheap, quick service (and very organized) and very tasty food. Try the Souvlakis as well (the pork is juicy and dipped in oregano). The only "bad side" is that there are not a lot of tables, so it's best if your order take away and eat somewhere else).
Ana M — Google review
The best Gyros place in the area, and incredibly cheap (3,80€ for a gyro). The service is quick, and the fries and food seem rustic and fresh. However there isn't much seating and you may need 2 Gyros to feel completely full since they are a bit on the smaller size!
E — Google review
O Gyros Pou Gyrevis was the quick gyro and beer that I was seeking when I first got to Athens. The portions were good for the price and the gyros popped out instantly. They were so good that my gf and I each had two of them. Total cost of 2 beers and 4 gyros was about 20 euro. You can't argue with that!
Jason S — Google review
We bought two pita gyro (one chicken and one pork) at 2pm. There was a resonable long queue at the cashier so I waited outside for a table to be free while my partner ordered the food. We were lucky to get a table but many customers had to either eat their food standing or go another place. It costed 3.8€ for a pita gyro. It's cheap but you don't get much food and we were still hungry afterwards. In addition, it didn't taste that good as expected. We had tried better ones before.

We had a wonderful experience at Kalamaki Kolonaki on a Sunday night. The food was not only delicious but also arrived promptly, allowing us to fully enjoy our meal without a long wait. We went there 3 nights in a row with friends after seeing a concert at nearby Lycabettus Hill, and every single bite knocked it out of the park. Nourishing salads, plenty of thoughtful and creative and delicious options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike! The atmosphere was perfect for long and enjoyable conversations with friends over beers, and the staff was attentive, friendly, and engaging! This restaurant was a mainstay for our trip and we will most certainly be returning when we return to Greece!

This place is amazing. We were visiting Athens and staying across the street. The first time we ate here was out of convenience. The second time was because we could not stop thinking about the delicious food. Seriously, the best tzatziki ever.
Abby S — Google review
Greek salad is good, but the rest of food was tasteless. Besides, they charge for the bottle of water we even didn't ask while in most places around Athens they give a bottle free of charge as a compliment. The place is quite expensive and if you want good quality greek food, this is not a place to visit.
Gabija V — Google review
Terrible experience! We ordered a salad, two skewers, and an eggplant dish. We waited for 45 minutes, but our food never arrived — even though people who came after us were already eating. An amazing authentic Turkish place with amazing people and food. I came late after midnight and they were still very energetic and full of positive vibes enough to cook and serve. You can sit outside as well as inside. I chose the beyti kebab and it's as delicious as the ones I ate in Türkiye. After I got up to pay the bill I was told to sit back down because they were giving me. complementary watermelon afterwards. I definitely recommend it to everyone.
Baser K — Google review
The restaurant offers an array of authentic Eastern dishes. It’s a bit of a mixed bag. Some things on the menu were really solid but others were either odd or over cooked. The Kebap meat was really good but the domus sis was dry and a little too charred. The rice was actually the stand out for me, lovely fragrant flavour. I would come back to try other dishes but I wouldn’t say it was the best Eastern food in Athens.

Athens, Greece @ 84 Veikou street. 1.2km from the Acropolis museum. Open between 9am - 5pm. 9 seatings. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We opted for breakfast. Vegetarian omelette with feta cheese, peppers, olives and tomato. We received water at the table (no additional charge) and we had cappuccinos and 2 glasses of Prosecco. The food was well presented, delicious and good. The omelette was prepared nicely and not burnt (as I experienced when ordering omelette). The owner, Agapi, and staff, Harianna, was present. The were friendly and helpful and created a friendly environment and good positive atmosphere. Definitely recommend a visit for an enjoyable brunch in a quaint and relaxing environment. Fantastic!!!

Such a great place for take away or dine in. Everything is made to order, so it will take fifteen minutes to prepare the food. These are similar to arancini - round breading covering a center with various ingredients. I had one order of beef & parmesean for lunch. 6 pieces, nice take away box too eat on the go. My only comment... It came with a sweet thai sauce and I think it would have been better with a tomato sauce. This type of dish is especially known for fruits and chocolate breakfast type options.

Small little place with outdoor seating. Great for breakfast. I had the Poffie egg which is fried egg with bacon on top of their pastry with a small salad. I got double eggs and everything was so flavorful. I also got the Poffie with butter, honey, and cinnamon. It was just the right amount of sweet, these little dough balls are simply amazing. If you are coming from the US don't expect quick service, that's normal so be patient it's worth the wait.

This local gem in the heart of Kolonak is a French bistro with a Greek twist. I passed by this place many times and did not attend but I put it on my to go list and finally I made it. Eleni the server was super nice, professional and friendly. We were 2 and decided to go with a starter, pasta and a main dish. The tomato carpaccio with burrata was decent but not something to brag about. When the beef linguini and the fillet steak arrived it was so good we devoured on it like crazies. The fruits tarte was amazing as well and we were told that all of the desserts are made by them. To sum it up: great food great service upscale clientele and all in all we were very happy. Unfortunately we were so hungry so we did not take pictures of the main dish but we got the dessert!

Nice lovely spot for a Western-inspired brunch! Really enjoyed the eggs and avocado toast. The music was not too loud and outdoor seating had industrial fans overhead to cool down the usual Athens noon heat.

We had a great time at this restaurant! The location was nice and easy to find. The food and drinks were really tasty and fresh. But the best part was the service. The manager and waiters were very kind and professional. They made sure we had everything we needed and were always checking if we were okay. We felt very welcome and well taken care of. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back. Highly recommend this place!

This place tries hard to look like a Parisian bistro, but that’s where it ends. The food is bland and uninspired, with ridiculously high prices that are completely unjustified. Portions are small, ingredients feel cheap, and there’s nothing authentically French about the experience ( except maybe the attitude....) It’s a classic tourist trap banking on aesthetics and location, but delivering poor quality at a premium cost. With so many amazing restaurants in Athens, don’t waste your time or money here. Looks fancy, tastes like regret 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Driss L — Google review
I got food poisoning 24 hours after our visit and we suspect it was from the salmon tartar dish. I had 40oC fever and had to go to go to the doctor! I was given antibiotics because this was a serious case of food poisoning. I could probably sue this place. Such a shame to not follow proper hygiene and quality guidelines in the kitchen. The level of service should extend to all aspects of a business not only on how things look on the surface. I am healthy and I don’t get sick often. If I had a preexisting issue or if an older individual ate that stale fish you could have sent them to the hospital. If you don’t want to use sushi grade fish (which is what you charge for) then don’t put this item on the menu Response to what the owner added here. I have been living in the UK with zero interest against or for your establishment. I didn’t write I got the first symptoms in 24h. I actually had symptoms the next morning so you do the math. At less than 24h I referred to the presentation of high persistent fever, which is the later stage of the bacterial infection I had. We ate more things that day at your restaurant, but the uncooked fish is the most likely culprit and what I ate on my own(thankfully as it turned out). I didn’t eat anything else and I spent the next day in the bathroom, so yes Im sure it was from you. I find it extremely unprofessional and concerning that your first reaction was to blame me,the customer, instead of looking into the matter further before jumping into accusations against me. I also have the doctor’s note and the receipt from your establishment and can easily proceed with a more formal complaint.

The place was lovely at first - cozy atmosphere, tasty mezze, and a sweet start with a great waiter. But the moment his shift ended and the new waiter heard us speaking Hebrew, his whole attitude changed. He literally pulled faces at us, cold and dismissive, while being perfectly nice to everyone else. The thing is, he has no idea what our political views are, or how much we protest against our own government. We’re just regular people who came to enjoy a meal - not a flag, not a policy, not a regime. And just like I wouldn’t judge him for the flaws of his own government, I don’t expect to be judged for mine. That’s not politics - that felt like antisemitism.

I recently dined at this restaurant and enjoyed the food and overall service, which was quite nice. However, my experience was marred by two interactions. First, when I mentioned that I wanted to pay by card, the older gentleman in charge of payments reacted quite negatively, which was disappointing. Additionally, the lady responsible for seating guests chose a table for me, but when I requested a different one, she also seemed upset. While the food was enjoyable, these interactions left a sour impression. I hope the management can address these customer service issues because the dining experience has great potential.

We were deciding between a few places and ended up choosing this one. We stopped by during the day to make a reservation. The staff member didn’t take our name or phone number, just told us we could sit at the table we picked. When we arrived in the evening, that table had been merged with a large group of about 10 people. They offered us a table right next to the live orchestra — I guess they wanted us to lose our hearing 😅 Thankfully, we eventually found a more suitable spot and sat down. As for the food, we had zucchini, calamari, Greek salad, saganaki, two 20cl ouzos, and pita (which most places serve for free, but here it was charged). We paid €40. The food was tasty, but nothing to rave about. The person who helped us later on was very attentive and professional, which we appreciated. Still, the dishes could have been more refined. And I have to say it — Turkish calamari beats Greek kalamaraki any day 😉
Özgür K — Google review
Great atmosphere and really generous portion sizes. The food looked amazing, but unfortunately the taste didn’t match the presentation, it came across very processed, and I could barely eat it. One older staff member taking orders also let the experience down. Every interaction felt awkward, and when I asked for a beer recommendation, he had nothing to offer. It’s a shame, because the place has potential, but the food quality and service really missed the mark for me.

This restaurant offered an authentic Greek menu with many items on the menu looking really good. Their meat is a bit fatty (you might like it you might not). Prices are great for the portion. The service is very fast too.
Faisal S — Google review
This place is terrible. Do not eat here! I should’ve known it was gonna be really bad when they served us saran wrapped bread at the table that was stale and hard. My husband and I both ordered a dish. Mine was slightly burned and flavorless as you can see in the first picture, but it was still edible. My husband ordered a regular kebab. We’ve had these about 20 times in Greece and assumed it was a safe dish. I’ve also included a picture so you can see what it looks like on the menu. What he got was the nastiest kebab Drenched in a yellow mustard sauce. He took two bites to try to taste it and eat it and literally couldn’t so we asked to return the dish and get a refund explaining that it wasn’t edible and it didn’t look like what was presented on the menu and what were used to ordering. Suddenly, it’s like they didn’t understand what we were saying in English. Mind you, ordering the dishes and requesting water and all of that was perfectly understood in English, but when we asked to refund us for one of the dishes, suddenly they didn’t understand what we were saying. Luckily Google translate helped with that. They then claim they couldn’t refund us for the dish because my husband ate it. He literally took two bites. Then when we tried to leave, they wouldn’t let us pay until we said it was all ok. DO NOT EAT HERE- The food is bad, but the customer service and the way they conduct their business is even worse.

Greek restaurant
Best Taste is a small but popular spot in Athens known for its delicious pizza, pasta, Mediterranean-style wraps, and grilled meats. The staff is friendly and professional, ensuring good service even during busy times. Customers have praised the quality and taste of the food, particularly highlighting the flavorful sauces and fresh ingredients used in their souvlakis. Located in Kato Petralona, this casual eatery offers an authentic taste of Greek street food at reasonable prices.
This place lives up to it's name. It has been the tastiest food I've had in Athens. The pasta is hands down the best and the gyros are not bad as well. The chicken is very moist and grilled to perfection. This is my new go-to spot while in Athens

One of three best gyros place I would say! The girls that attended us were sooooo nice Everything was great and DELICIOSO! México approved! ❤️✨
Valeria B — Google review
I spent 3 days in Athens and came here 3 times in a row! Amazing food, good prices and good portions. Loved every bit of it. The gyros are amazing, the steaks and the pizza was the second best I ever had in my life
Konstantin K — Google review
There are some good restaurants in Athens. This is not one of them. You are greeted by a very dominant waitress telling you what you have to do. Once we got some food the gyros was luke warm. When we told the waitress we were told "it's all the same". We had to insist and they warmed it up, but when they brought it back the waitress sarcastically said "warm gyros". Now to my order. I ordered a tsatsiki as a starter and chicken thighs as a main. These are advertised as 500 gram. Well, the tsatsiki was not served and half of the chicken thighs were bone (see picture). When I confronted the waitress about my missing tsatsiki she said I got potatoes with my mains. In the end I got the tsatsiki, which was very average. Conclusion: there are other places in Athens where you are valued as a customer and the staff is helpful instead of being condescending. And where food is better.

We were so happy with our food we ate there 3 times during our short stay in Athens. They were so kind to give us free dessert on our 3rd meal😀

there is a reason i dislike cities. the only dish that id recommend as worth it for the price and how it tastes was the beat salad. everything else was a bit mid, and served luke warm, the crispyness had become soft on aome of the fried food we had gotten as well. this is worth it if you need to eat in a pinch, but im sure there is a better option out there.

I recently dined at Best Taste and let me tell you, they weren't kidding about the name! The food was delicious and left my taste buds doing the cha-cha slide. But the portion sizes? Oh my goodness, they were bigger than Mount Olympus itself! I think I could've fed a small village with just one plate. The prices were unrealistically low, which made me wonder if I was actually in Athens or if I accidentally stepped into some sort of culinary Wonderland. If you're on a budget, this is the spot for you. You'll leave with a full stomach and a full wallet. The only downside was the slow service. But hey, I guess that's what happens when you're serving up gigantic portions that could feed a small army. Overall, I highly recommend Best Taste if you're looking for a tasty meal and a bargain. Just make sure you have a big appetite and a lot of patience for the slow service.

Note for Canadians: if you can’t speak Greek, they make fun of you to your face and still act like they’re your best friend. Ordered a cheeseburger, medium done. Came back well done. For the atmosphere, I didn’t sit down to eat, but if their servers are like their cashiers and kitchen staff, you’ll feel unwelcome.

Nestled among the trendy bars and charming cafes of Koukaki, Peas Vegan & Raw Food stands out as a delightful vegan eatery perfect for both dining in and takeaway. This vibrant spot invites you to indulge in Greece's beloved street food with a plant-based twist, featuring options like grilled tempeh souvlaki wraps, jackfruit burgers, and crispy tofu nuggets.
Definitely recommend the 'Mush in Wrap' (Mushroom Gyro/Pita)!! The mushrooms and veg were freshly grilled and beautifully seasoned. The pita itself was soft, unlike some tough chewy ones I've had from other places. And the veg/ mushrooms were so juicy!! Plus the portion size was huuuge!! I took mine to go, but there are some seats inside too.

I just took my last bite and had to rush to review this excellent eatery while flavors linger in my mouth. Peas has by far the best gyro I’ve had in Athens. The pita bread was substantial with a soft texture, tasted incredibly fresh. The seitan chunks were delicious as well, and I LOVED the potato wedges they added inside. I also asked for red spicy sauce on the side and it was the perfect kick of flavor to balance the creamy yogurt sauce. I’m so very glad I stopped here on a whim! The price can’t be beat (5.50 💶 for a giant pita) and the owners were so friendly. I met some expats in there as well and had a lovely conversation. I can see why this place attracts great people—their food is top notch, made to order, and oozing with love. Don’t miss it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Visit in Athens! We had an incredible lunch at Peas in Athens with a big group, and it exceeded all our expectations! From start to finish, everything was absolutely delicious. The gyros were some of the best we’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. What really stood out was how everything is cooked in-house—you can truly taste the care and quality in every bite. The desserts were another highlight—beautifully prepared and the perfect sweet ending to our meal. The staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating to our group, making sure everyone was happy. The portions were more than generous, and everything felt super fresh and thoughtfully made. If you’re in Athens and looking for a place that combines authentic taste with great service, Peas is a must. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Absolutely incredible fresh high quality ingredients served up at very reasonable prices by people who take so much pride in their vegan creations. STAFF: Very helpful, efficient, kind and attentive to detail. Good ingredients served fresh, meticulously served up and carefully plated up for us. All food arrived very quickly, despite a number of people having ordered. FOOD: Absolutely delicious. I've had zucchini pasta and vegan cakes at loads of places and this is without doubt my absolute favourite. Only wish I'd found this earlier. Will definitely be back. INTERIOR: Modern, minimalist fresh clean interior with gorgeous plants on the tables and hanging from the ceiling. OVERALL: Highly recommend and it's very affordable.

The best vegan restaurant in Athens. The place was full of positive energy. The good thing aout it that they do not use onion and garlic in any of their food so very satvik food. It is the best for Swaminarayan and Jain devotees. They were so polite on the phone when we made inquiry and when we visited they served us very friendly. The food was so delicious that we could not forget the taste. I wish they have branch in London. We wanted to visit again but it was our last day in Athens but I strongly recommend PEAS for the best quality vegan food and detox juice.
Nitesh K — Google review
A fully vegan restaurant that serve lots of options for vegan greek food. From their menu we took the Buddha ball with seitan, the mushroom burger and the seitan warp. From the 3 dishes the mushroom burger was our favorite, the soft mushroom burger was delicious although it kinda fall apart as you hold it, the bun was soft and came with lettuce and tomato (only thing would improve it if there were pickles inside), the next dish we like was the Buddha ball with quinoa and veggies that were well seasoned and the salad dressing was tasty, the seitan unfortunately felt a bit dry and under season and really need some dipping sauce on the side or above it. The last dish we tried was the gyros, it came in a warp fulled with seitan and tomato. The bread was soft but the dish felt really boring and missed some verity of veggies like onion, lettuce, etc to spice it up and give some taste to the seitan. The restaurant itself is cozy, with nice swing chair and self service stand for water & cutlery and the service was nice and quick.

This place was our GO-TO breakfast in Athens! Located in a lovely corner at the city center, this is a nice cafe with kind service. We came here twice for its good coffee and delicious Greek yogurt a with granola. All the products are organic and the yogurt is full and creamy, served with muesli, bananas, pears and honey. Restaurant
Feedέλ Urban Gastronomy is a hidden gem located in the heart of Athens, just off Ermou Street. The restaurant offers an eclectic bistro menu and clever cocktails in a cool and atmospheric space with outdoor seating. Chef Leonidas Koutsopoulos puts a tasty twist on modern Greek food, offering playful dishes and whimsical cocktails that pair perfectly with the food. The tranquil atmosphere, complete with outdoor tables overlooking a lush square, provides the perfect escape from the bustling city streets.
Heard a lot about this place, but honestly, you have to try it to understand—A M A Z I N G! Service was on point, and the cocktails were exceptional, perfectly paired with the menu. We started with the avocado tzatziki (good) and a salad (amazing). For mains, the lemon chicken and slow-cooked beef were both outstanding. Highly recommend!

Incredible food, friendly service in a vibrant atmosphere. This small restaurant is without question the best we have visited in Athens. The Red Sea bream is incredible and the Yphes salad takes Greek salads to the next level. To finish, crème brûlée with everything - a taste of orange, touches of dark chocolate mousse and home made vanilla ice cream that has something extra in it…. Superb! This restaurant is a must visit.
Victor J — Google review
This place has been my absolute favorite meal of our trip in Athens. It’s in an area with a lot less foot traffic so you feel like you have the whole area to yourself and can get away from it all. The food is absolutely amazing. The salad, bread and mushrooms were my amazing but the sauces and the chicken were mind blowing. Make sure you hit them up!
Stephen C — Google review
This place is overpriced for what it is. The food looks pretty and great on Instagram, but not much more. If you're an influencer, go right ahead. If you're a foodie, best avoid. My kale salad arrived drowning in vinegar. The Pirozhki tartare was completely unseasoned. So basically raw beef, a pickle, and egg yolk. The Moussaka dumpling was the best of a bad bunch, however once again while conceptually and visually good, it was severely lacking in the flavour department. The dumpling skins tasted doughy and raw - have they gone to gyoza school, I wonder? It didn't even taste steamed. And the tomato paste used in the sauce tasted like it was still raw and straight out of the can. If the prices were at 5-7 Euro per dish, I wouldn't complain this much, but it was €54.50, including a €12 glass of wine and €4 small bottle of sparkling water! So because of the price and what it was pretending to be (and it was not), it's a solid 2 stars from me.

Last dinner in Athens on Friday night with family aged 11 and 12. Sadly my kids like high end restaurants so this was their favourite. We enjoyed great service, the time to explain the dishes and experience. Good options for vegetarian / pescatarian. Cocktails were delicious. My only complaint was I received Prosecco in a wine glass. Other than that superb.
D M — Google review
This was my second visit - I usually go to the sister restaurant Feedέλ Assador, as it's close to me. I know what to expect from these restaurants. Good atmosphere, great service, inspired food and cocktails. On my last visit there was a dish that was sub-par, which was unusual, this time though they got a 7 out of 7 for excellence. You really can't go wrong with any dish, from the soup and salad, to the piroski tartare and the beef cheeks. It's always delicious modern fusion takes on mostly greek dishes. The cocktails are as interesting - find the one that looks more to your style and give it a try. In general, it is probably better to go with a bigger company than 2 so you can try more dishes (the recommendation is 2/person to share, which works quite well - well, plus desert!).

Indian restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Mirch is an Indian lounge located in the heart of the old market in Monastiraki, Athens. It offers a fusion of Indian and Greek cuisines, featuring dishes like hot chicken tikka skewers with yogurt and peppermint sauce, spicy vindaloos, chana masala, curry, saag paneer, samosas and tandoori chicken.
One of the best places in Athens for Indian food! The rooftop views are amazing as well as the interior. I always get chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and it's dreamy. The portion is big and it comes with basmati rice as well, so all this amount of food for ~13€ is really worth it. One thing I don't like, is that you have to order at the counter and then the waiters bring you your food at your table, which doesn't make sense to me, since they're still paying for the waiters but they can't assist you fully. For example there was a mistake with my order that I didn't notice at the counter and when I told the waiter he just told me to go two floors down to the counter to change it.. of course I didn't do that but that's just really inconvenient and the staff seems a bit rude and careless. Nevertheless, if you crave Indian food it's a great place to go!
Christina S — Google review
Went for the rooftop view. Ordered the tikka masala pita and it was a big portion so lasted me two meals which was good but I felt the flavor wasn’t that strong or spicy, so that was disappointing. Went on a weeknight and a bit before sunset so there was no wait but there are only a few rooftop tables so go early if you want to see sunset.
Niamh R — Google review
Very disappointing experience. The restaurant markets itself as Indian, but the food was far from authentic. The dishes we ordered were overly spicy without balance, and some items were even undercooked, which made them inedible. On top of that, the service was poor — slow, inattentive, and unhelpful when we mentioned the issues with the food, they even asked us to clear the bill even before serving us food. Athens has many wonderful restaurants, but unfortunately, this one is not worth recommending.

🌶️ Mirch Indian Restaurant, Athens – A “Culinary” Scam in Disguise 🌶️ ⭐☆☆☆☆ (Would give -5 if possible) Walked in hungry, walked out confused — and slightly robbed. Went to wash my hands before eating, came back to find a papadum and an overpriced water bottle magically placed on my table. Didn’t order them, didn’t want them, but apparently Mirch believes in surprise billing. Ordered a simple naan dish — got something they proudly called “Indian souvlaki.” Picture dry half-cooked rice stuffed inside naan, filled with sad dal and a mystery “raita.” Honestly, if food had feelings, this dish would’ve apologized to me. Had to order plain yellow dal and naan just to feel human again. The waiter then asked me to pay before showing the bill — bold move for a place that serves confusion instead of cuisine. Staff have zero manners, the service is shady, and the food is pure comedy. Mirch is not a restaurant — it’s a tourist trap wearing a curry costume. Avoid it like expired paneer.
Swetank C — Google review
If you can just ignore the fact that every summer prices go 40%-50% up due to tourism, it is a great place with delicious food. You just have to wait for the prices to go down again, from November and onward.

Incredible how this place in a short 6moth period doubled the prices and downgraded the food quality. I used to come to this establishment at least once a week and literally brought anyone I knew , the food used to be affordable and authentic, it is no longer any of those . I definitely wont visit this restaurant again , and will tell all my friends about this. This place no longer serves free water The stuff barely knows what they are serving. Spices are now absent from the food , and it lacks authenticity. What a shame .

Spontaneously ended up at this mini rooftop. If you’re looking for a place to sip on a cocktail after you tour the acropolis this is the place. Cozy rooftop with gorgeous view. Sit on the rail by the inside restaurant to hear the live Greek music and see the traditional dancing. The grilled octopus was perfect, and local wine was a great recommendation. They have many tables linking the steps up the hill which is a fun experience to try on our next visit. The tzatziki was excellent and we put it on everything. Great date night spot and worth the drive from Athens to Plaka. Reservations recommended!

I had an awkward experience here. I am a half black half white American, and I’m not sure what exactly it was, but the staff treated me very strangely especially when it was time to pay. It was as if they didn’t think I was going to, because they were hawk eyeing my every move it seemed. Also, some of the patrons would point and murmur and it just felt very uncomfortable. At this point I have been to quite a few bars and restaurants and have never felt like this, and I don’t exactly know what it was about me that made everyone behave so strangely here. On a side note, the life music and the vibe was very nice and interesting, so as a local or someone who looks like a local, you’d likely have a better experience. I wanted to like this place but there were just too many moments where I felt like a zoo animal that I just can’t recommend for others who look like me. The lamb chops were okay but very chewy and not quite as good as other places nearby. Good luck!

Walked in here when it was 37c degrees outside for lunch and staff took great care of us. Seabass carpacchio tasted fresh and pleasant, cream variety - eggplant spread was our favorite. Chicken gyro was a bit dry. Mushroom risotto was perfectly comforting! But the highlight of our meal was vegetable risotto, perfect for hot summer weather. Overall, great place.

Found Yadria whilst waiting for our late night laundry and it didn’t disappoint. We were seated straight away on the terrace by the garden. We started with the cherry tomato, rocket, feta and crouton salad. This was presented well with a generous serving, however the cherry tomato’s could’ve been fresher as a few were quite soft / off. The Moussaka was the stand out dish and was delicious- highly recommend ordering. The vegetable risotto lacked flavouring and was quite bland. However it was a nice change to the traditional cuisine we have been having all holiday. Overall it was a nice restaurant in a perfect location.

Great food service was okay. Had a quiet guy serve us who occasionally came to life when he served us. Ordered the Souvlaki, Zucchini Balls and some regular Fizzy drinks. Would probably come here again for the vibe and the location.

We stopped by for drinks, and will come back for dinner. What a beautiful restaurant! I love the atmosphere, music, service, air conditioning and the bougainvilleas!

The Greek restaurant Stoa Fix serves up traditional dishes with a twist, making it an ideal spot for those looking for quality food at an affordable price. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, perfect for catching up with friends. The meatballs and trahana are must-try items!
One of the best restaurants I’ve tried in Greece (been several times), love the combination traditional with modern cuisine, casual and chic at the same time, local clients, I can’t describe how insane the food quality was , amazing service by Marios that made us feel welcome from the very first moment, and yet all for a very cheap price. I thought I’d come back to Athens only for Acropolis, but it’ll also be for this amazing restaurant. If you’re a foodie you must come here

This place has very delicious and refined food that is unique. The mushrooms and broccoli are a must and so are the desserts. Uniquely seasoned and beautifully presented plates. The word seems to be spreading in Athens that the owner moved this restaurant to this place because Keramikos might be the the new up-and-coming hip area. And it truely has the feeling as the restaurant was filled to the brim. The staff is really friendly and if you get a table inside it has a calming and relaxing atmosphere while outside it is much busier but nonetheless comfortable. If you visit Keramikos this is a place not to be missed.

One star less for atmosphere because I don't like music to be too loud, so I had a seat outside on a wobbly bench. The waitress went out of her way to translate the whole menu to English and the wines we agreed on were a perfect match for the food. And the food... Just wow. I really want to meet the chef (and marry her maybe?)

Nice cozy place, usually crowded so it would be wise to book a table up front. The food is delicious, big portions, normal priced, not a big variety, but that's what makes all options extremely well prepared! Fried potatoes with fried eggs and sausages is a must for starter, always, always order today's special.. the rest are up to your personal preferences. Draft beer is cold as ice!!

I found it to be rather disappointing, and for the portions you receive it is very overpriced. Unfortunately another local restaurant charging a premium for slightly imaginative dishes. Not worth 68€ for two people. Three dishes we had were good (keftedes, rissoto, ceviche. The fourth (vegetarian pasticio) was simply bland and not enjoyable at all - and as a non-vegetarian who has eaten at a lot of vegetarian restaurants, this is saying a lot. Honestly with so many amazing, well priced restaurants, no reason to go back. **adding this in response to the owners reply. For mindblowing vegeterain/vegan food, try Avocado at Syntagama. For similar cuisine to Stoa Fix, with incredible quality and flavour, but well priced try Secret Garden (Μυστικός κήπος) in Chalandri. There are many incredible restaurants offering mindblowing food, at a better price point - simple**

Small and cute terrace with partial views of the Parthenon. Nice staff and good food( tried meat balls, smoked feta and risotto.

I visited the place on July 6th, 2022, a party of 4. I have longed to eat there for quite some time now so I was really excited when a friend suggested we visited. We ordered: 1) Savoury loukoumades: very tasty and accompanied with a nice sauce. I would prefer them a bit crunchier though 2) Meatballs: this is supposed to be their signature dish and the one I was anticipating the most but it was a bit of a letdown. Not a bad dish but I do not understand what all the hype is about 3) Fried chicken: Fantastic! We asked for seconds 4) Risotto: Another fantastic dish! 5) Fries: As they should be 6) Lentils: This is a bit misleading as the dominant element was rice and not lentils. Tasty but I would prefer it less salty. 7), 8): Both desserts (ekmek and chocolate tart) was very nice. Since we visited the rooftop in Mosaikon hotel, temperature was very nice and we could enjoy our dinner despite a hot July day. Service was attentive and professional. Would visit again and would recommend.

A cult terrace in the down town of Athens, quite near to Monastiraki, hosts this brilliant "project FIX" small gastro-restaurant. After sunset, the view to the illuminated Akropolis is possible from some specific points of this terrace (if it was possible from all points, then the prices would certainly be completely different). We really enjoyed a dinner last Sunday there. I must admit that the team of chefs made sure to satisfy our palates, feeling that everything we tasted was, honestly, value for money. Fresh green "roka" salad with apricot slices, walnuts and vinegrette, Mushrooms' risotto, cooked and flavored with fresh butter, Fluffy grilled minced beef meatballs, accompanying with a masterpiece yogurt cream and tomato dip. Short but very good wine list. We finished our dinner with an excellently executed cool and light dessert: Ekmek with ice cream and that unforgettable mastic cream. Thanks Orestis from the team of chefs he proposed us to taste it. Many thanks to the polite waiters. Recomendation (especially for non Greeks): MUST VISIT. That's why I wrote it in English, although I am Greek.
