Best souvlaki in Athens ! You definitely have to go there. Each sandwich is really cheap. Souvlaki is not that big so I recommend ordering at least two per person (but you will order more because it’s so good). Meat is delicious, juicy and well seasoned. Very friendly staff, family atmosphere. Many if simple (attached) but you don’t need anything more. Don’t go there right before closing time because they can be sold out. It’s a must visit! Highly recommend

The BEST souvlaki place in whole of Athens! I first ordered one souvlaki as I wasn’t really hungry. As soon as I took the first bite I knew I would get another one. The meatballs in the souvlaki were very bouncy and juicy. The staff were happy that I came back and they made a new one straight away. If you are in the neighborhood try to swing by!

Honestly the cheapest and best souvlaki I have had till date. This place only serves one dish- Beef souvlaki. If a place serves only one dish, you can imagine the confidence they have on their single item menu. The place is always crowded but service is fast. You will have to stand outside and eat. The beef was melt in the mouth and bread was soft and juicy. Reason, while the beef is being grilled, the bread is kept on top of the beef thus making sure it sucks all the juices from the beef making it soft and fluffy! The prices are unbelievable too! Single beef kebab on bread was 2.5 € and double beef kebab was 3.8 €. I don’t know how they keep prices so low, obviously it’s a volume game which u can see with the crowd flocking!

In my opinion, Lefteris O Politis serves one of the best souvlaki in Athens. The place is ironically as "Spartan" as it gets—simple, no-frills, but incredibly efficient and fast. The focus is entirely on the food, and it delivers. What I appreciated most was the ability to customise both the amount of meat and the level of spices, making each souvlaki just right for personal taste. Since we were waiting for dinner, we only had one each, but it was enough to appreciate the quality and flavour. The meat was perfectly grilled, well-seasoned, and wrapped in soft pita with just the right balance of onions and tomatoes. The overall experience was excellent, and I highly recommend stopping by—preferably on an empty stomach, so you can truly enjoy more than just one.

The souvlaki itself was delicous, juicy meat. Fries had no taste. Prices quite affordable which surprised us. But the staff could hardly speak english and their interest in us was non existent. Also, the seating inside was awful. Other than souvlaki meat, it was all mediocre at best.

One of the best places to taste Greek street food. They do it differently than the traditional Gyros and Souvlak places. The main thing is that their products are really tasteful. I had the pita with Mutton which i have never taste it anywhere this waybin Greece. It was really good. I am big fan of Mutton meat so I definitely recommend it. The prices are higher than other similar places but you pay the quality and how much tasteful their products are. Don’t miss it if it happens to be around.

Hoocut was the first place I ate at when I arrived in Athens and also the last one before leaving! That alone says a lot. Ate Gyros for at least a meal a day for my entire trip in Greece. This has the be the best gyros in Athens, might even be Greece. First of all, they don’t put fries in the gyros. It comes as a side. This difference already sets it apart from the other gyros and improves the overall flavour of the gyros without the greasiness from the fries Secondly, it’s has an excellent meat, vegetable and sauce ratio. In other places, you would get too little meat, and too much sauce. The cucumbers and onions were fresh and thinly sliced. Every bite comes with a crunch. The meat so juicy and flavourful Lastly, the pita bread. They were roasted fresh on the spot. It’s crunch on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It’s not bread. It’s roti prata without the buttery taste. The gyros is amazingly delicious. Best of all, it’s only 3.7 EUR per gyros and you get a hearty, healthy meal. You know this place is good. When you see crowds outside a little shop in a dingy neighbourhood. This is a takeaway shop

A lovely local gyros spot. We got there really early because most reviews suggested they’re wiped clean before 9. I’m glad that we did because even then the wait time was about 15 minutes as there was already a short line forming. The premises are nothing special, though that just adds to the authentic feel imo. Best kebab pita of my trip. Bit of a wait (maybe 10-15 minutes), but the line moves quickly, and the meal is well worth the wait. They have some outdoor seating, which was filled when I was there, but the restaurant is located in a square with many seating spaces.

Hands down, best gyro spot in Athens. For being in the dead city center, its prices are impressively cheap and its food is very delicious. The founder has been there for several decades and he was there when we went. We just asked him to make us something he recommended and thought we would like. He made us a beef gyro with a tomato sauce that I haven’t tried anywhere else. The beer is also $1.50 and well worth it. During lunch and dinner time, there will definitely be a line. The food comes out very fast.

Worth of trying the food here. You can have a typical famous gyros, but instead of meat, with mushrooms inside. The mushrooms, mushy but also crunchy making them a great substitute of meat. Also the vegan sauces are really good here.

We came across Kalamaki Bar by chance after reading some reviews. The place has a modern look and a pleasant atmosphere. The pork and chicken souvlaki were tasty, though surprisingly served without pita, and the buffalo burger was underwhelming. Service was a bit slow, and overall there are many better options if you want a more authentic Greek experience.

Great food and atmosphere. Came here on our first night in Athens. The servers are nice. When you walk up to the large menu, they will let you sit anywhere you’d like or accommodate you to your party size. The kalamaki bar salad was delicious. Also the sausage and the skewer meats were very tasty.

Dinner here was the best meal we had in Athens. On Drakou Street, Kalamaki is one of the few good places in this area we wished we could return to. The staff is friendly and made some helpful suggestions. We had a terrific Greek salad of tomatoes and feta (IMO the Greek salad is a sign of how much care a restaurant takes) It was GOOD. The corn pita was superb, eaten too fast to photograph! The dish of olives was great, and we had a divine baked eggplant with diced bell peppers, wild rice, and souvlaki skewers of BBQ pork and chicken, perfectly cooked. The house red wine was good and reasonably priced. Kudos to the staff and chef, they do things right! PS, the bill for our feast was only 36 euros. Highly recommend.

Superb restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. The Greek salad was delicious and the various kebab sticks were really great. The Halloumi kebab stick was also a personal favourite. The spicy feta dip also paired very well with olive oil and the bread. The olives are listed as ‘olive oil’ on the menu. The setting was nice with good outdoor/indoor seating. Really good service and would certainly return. It does get busy with locals (a good sign) and they offer a takeout service, if you would rather take something back to your hotel. Good beer menu.

I honestly don’t understand how this place has such high ratings. We sat down, waited, and no one brought us a menu. Eventually, we had to get up and grab it ourselves. Then a staff member came to our table and spoke to us in an incredibly rude and impatient manner, as if we were bothering him just by being there. He answered our questions with visible annoyance and brought the food and water by practically slamming them on the table. Even if the food is decent, service like this completely ruins the experience. Hospitality is about more than just food — it’s about treating people with respect. This restaurant failed at that on every level. If I hadn’t been starving late at night, I would’ve walked out. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. A place with this kind of attitude doesn’t deserve the praise it gets.

Found this place through an article in a magazine, about the best kebab places in Athens. The shop is very old but original. Reminded me of the kebab shops of the 70’s. The kebab preparing area though is refurbished. I tried the original kebab and I was impressed. Smooth flavor, not heavy or very spicy, with good balance of salt and fat. This is not the place that you will visit to stay for dinner, since there are only 3 tables. But I highly recommend it for take away, if your appetite needs a good and original kebab.

This was our very first meal in Athens during the heat wave, and my son couldn’t have picked a better spot. It’s in the busy area by Monastiraki Square, but the service is super fast. The meat I ate at Thanasis Kebab was generally juicy and cooked to the right consistency, but it was quite salty for my taste. The plus points of the place were the large portions and the well-cooked meat. Despite being ranked 46th among the top 100 restaurants on Taste Atlas and 1st in Greece, I personally don't think it deserves these scores in terms of price, service, or taste. I believe its central location is what makes it popular. If you're considering eating here, I'd recommend you think twice

Overhyped. The wait was over 50 minutes long because they cook on a grill flat top to order. Even with it being fresh off the grill, the beef souvlaki was dry and lacking in flavor. I rarely give bad reviews but it was not worth the wait.

An iconic and historical place with great souvlaki. They open at 10:25am, so google was wrong and we had to wait for a while, but it was totally worth it. The inside is full of pictures of the family, news articles and delicious smell of the food. Definitely worth a visit.

Besides, they charge for the bottle of water we even didn't ask while in most places around Athens they give a bottle free of charge as a compliment. The must try restaurant for Greek food, the best watermelon salad in town, we came back again for it! And gyros, souvlaki, the fried feta, yogurt, everything is very yummy! Beef wrap - 6.5/10. The beef meat was disappointing, it didn’t taste that good Pork wrap - 7/10 Pork skewer- 6.5/10 Chicken skewer - 8/10 Chicken wrap - 7.5/10. However the wrap felt quite plain in terms of ingredients as it only had the meat+tomatoes+fries. + The skewers here comes with pitta bread so that’s pretty good Price point here is slightly more expensive than usual.

There are some good restaurants in Athens. This is not one of them. You are greeted by a very dominant waitress telling you what you have to do. Once we got some food the gyros was luke warm. When we told the waitress we were told "it's all the same". We had to insist and they warmed it up, but when they brought it back the waitress sarcastically said "warm gyros". Now to my order. I ordered a tsatsiki as a starter and chicken thighs as a main. These are advertised as 500 gram. Well, the tsatsiki was not served and half of the chicken thighs were bone (see picture). When I confronted the waitress about my missing tsatsiki she said I got potatoes with my mains. In the end I got the tsatsiki, which was very average. Conclusion: there are other places in Athens where you are valued as a customer and the staff is helpful instead of being condescending. And where food is better.

there is a reason i dislike cities. the only dish that id recommend as worth it for the price and how it tastes was the beat salad. everything else was a bit mid, and served luke warm, the crispyness had become soft on aome of the fried food we had gotten as well. this is worth it if you need to eat in a pinch, but im sure there is a better option out there.

I recently dined at Best Taste and let me tell you, they weren't kidding about the name! The food was delicious and left my taste buds doing the cha-cha slide. But the portion sizes? Oh my goodness, they were bigger than Mount Olympus itself! I think I could've fed a small village with just one plate. The prices were unrealistically low, which made me wonder if I was actually in Athens or if I accidentally stepped into some sort of culinary Wonderland. If you're on a budget, this is the spot for you. You'll leave with a full stomach and a full wallet. The only downside was the slow service. But hey, I guess that's what happens when you're serving up gigantic portions that could feed a small army. Overall, I highly recommend Best Taste if you're looking for a tasty meal and a bargain. Just make sure you have a big appetite and a lot of patience for the slow service.

Note for Canadians: if you can’t speak Greek, they make fun of you to your face and still act like they’re your best friend. Ordered a cheeseburger, medium done. Came back well done. For the atmosphere, I didn’t sit down to eat, but if their servers are like their cashiers and kitchen staff, you’ll feel unwelcome.

We had one of the most delicious, mama-made souvlaki experiences we've ever had in Athens. The pirozhki were also amazing—especially the meat one, while the cheese version was uniquely tasty and had a slightly sweet twist. The lovely lady making them was incredibly kind; she waited for us to finish our first round of souvlaki, then freshly prepared the second batch so we could enjoy them piping hot. That, to me, is impeccable attention to the customer. This is an "eat-on-the-go" spot, so don’t expect tables or chairs—but that only adds to the charm. I’m so glad I had the chance to visit and experience this heartfelt, authentic place in Athens. Definitely one of the best homemade-style souvlaki spots, made with so much love.

Their κεφτές got just same delicious smell like my mom did. I am from Turkey and meatball is a bid deal in my country. Taste is great, smell is great, maybe it's a little restaurant but who cares. In the end it makes you happy.

Amazing souvlaki - one of the best in Athens! Basic ingredients (meat,tomato,onion and red sauce) but all well selected.

The pirozhki is amazing, they make it with 3 different fillings: minced meat, cheese and potato. But make sure to be on time if you want to try them, because the demand for them is huge and some days they can be sold out within a few minutes. The souvlaki is also great and it differs from the regular ones, as it is not served with tzatziki, but with their own unique homemade sauce.

Went for the rooftop view. Ordered the tikka masala pita and it was a big portion so lasted me two meals which was good but I felt the flavor wasn’t that strong or spicy, so that was disappointing. Went on a weeknight and a bit before sunset so there was no wait but there are only a few rooftop tables so go early if you want to see sunset.

Very disappointing experience. The restaurant markets itself as Indian, but the food was far from authentic. The dishes we ordered were overly spicy without balance, and some items were even undercooked, which made them inedible. On top of that, the service was poor — slow, inattentive, and unhelpful when we mentioned the issues with the food, they even asked us to clear the bill even before serving us food. Athens has many wonderful restaurants, but unfortunately, this one is not worth recommending.

Ordered a simple naan dish — got something they proudly called “Indian souvlaki.” Picture dry half-cooked rice stuffed inside naan, filled with sad dal and a mystery “raita.” Honestly, if food had feelings, this dish would’ve apologized to me. Had to order plain yellow dal and naan just to feel human again. The waiter then asked me to pay before showing the bill — bold move for a place that serves confusion instead of cuisine. Staff have zero manners, the service is shady, and the food is pure comedy. Mirch is not a restaurant — it’s a tourist trap wearing a curry costume. Avoid it like expired paneer.

If you can just ignore the fact that every summer prices go 40%-50% up due to tourism, it is a great place with delicious food. You just have to wait for the prices to go down again, from November and onward.

Incredible how this place in a short 6moth period doubled the prices and downgraded the food quality. I used to come to this establishment at least once a week and literally brought anyone I knew , the food used to be affordable and authentic, it is no longer any of those . I definitely wont visit this restaurant again , and will tell all my friends about this. This place no longer serves free water The stuff barely knows what they are serving. Spices are now absent from the food , and it lacks authenticity. What a shame .

Mirch is a good Indian fast food in the center of Athens, the food is fresh and really good cooked. The staff helpful and really kind. Have been there 3 times and will definitely visit it again. Recommended!

A great spot for a Vegetarian dinner in the heart of Athens. The Dall Channa with some chilli naan was very filling and full of great Indian Spice. 9 Euros total. Not even a 5 minute walk from Monistiraki Square and a great roof top patio with a gorgeous view of the lit up Acropolis. A very chill vibe with an excellent dinner.

This place is a “psitotaverna,” meaning a fast-food style restaurant specializing in grilled meats and chicken, and I should say that upfront. We visited twice, once in June and once in August. First of all, everything is prepared right in front of you. It’s clean, fast, and delicious. One word of caution: if you order a portion, keep in mind that the servings are quite large. By the way, their classic kalamaki-pita wraps are also quite filling.

The menu is all in Greek only but a Google translate solves that easily and the wait staff are more than happy to assist. Really lovely vibe in the area and very affordable. I loved this place. I don't know what people are complaining about. I was amazed with the effectiveness of everyone at this place. 9 people behind the counter and 4 waiters. And no lazy people hanging around like in many other places. And the food... to die for. We had a Greek salad, chicken skewers, french fries, Greek bread and tzatziki, a simple meal but oh so tasty. The chicken melted in my mouth, it was tender and not greasy at all. Try this place to make your own opinion, it really is worth it. It is not gourmet but it's honest great clean food.

Every year I visit Greece and I have tried the souvlakis all over the place and this one is maybe the best. The taste is classic. Now you can complain all you want about the price/service or other stuff but when it comes to souvlaki wrapped up you can't get better than this. I discovered this place last year and I was hesitant to try based on the reviews but the reality was that it tastes amazing. I went back this year and indeed it was as good. So to the owner, please keep up the good work and don't change anything in the recipe.

The vegan café has a fantastic selection of breakfast options. I really enjoyed the jackfruit and scrambled tofu wrap, although it was a bit small for the price. The cappuccino was okay, but the fresh grapefruit juice really won me over. The service was very nice. All of the restaurant workers were extremely friendly and the food was exceptional. We ordered a catch of the day white grouper along with a fried calamari as an appetizer. Our stomachs were way too full for dessert so we just asked for the bill and the waiter brought us two small portions of cheese cake and 2 lemon shots. The cheesecake was one of the best I’ve ever had and I found the offer to be very thoughtful. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Tourist trap, we came here all the way just for the "best" mousakka in Athens based on Google reviews, apparently even won an award!! The mousakka had hardly any meat and was under-seasoned. The waiters are super nice though and prices are steep. If you're looking for the best mousakka, this is definitely not the place!

My favourite meal in Athens and one of my favourite meals ever. Everything we had was just such good quality. We had really friendly service and the waiters were confident to give recommendations as the food quality was so good. They had awards on the walls and I can see why! We really enjoyed this restaurant -- I'm a huge fan of traditional Greek food and my friend enjoyed trying the mezze dishes. Dolmadakia were delicious, with a nice taste of pomegranate. Mushrooms too were very tasty. The gyros plate is huge! It was to our chagrin that we didn't have enough room to put all that away, but immense value for money. Staff are very friendly and amenable.

It’s around the acropolis museum, great value taking into account the location, service food quality and even portion that you get. Pork souvlaki and sea bass are both so good! They have catch of the day 68€ for 2people but we didn’t order that this time. Homemade cheesecake made their chef and limoncello on the house after meal🥺 The cheesecake is so good as well, it’s more gelatinous, similar to flan. Service is great, Vasilis especially. Felt like he is either owner/manager. Overall really satisfied!!

I had a great overall experience at this cozy spot in Greece. I started with a Greek coffee, which was really good—rich, strong, and m reminded me of Egyptian or Turkish coffee. For starters, I had the fried cheese bites. Most of them were delicious, crispy on the outside with gooey cheese inside, but one was still partially frozen in the center and a few had a slightly bitter, undercooked doughy taste. For my main, I went with the pork gyro platter, which came with pita and potatoes. The pork was flavorful but a bit dry and not hot enough. I found myself wanting a bit more pita to go with it. The white dipping sauce on the side was creamy and flavorful, a perfect match for the meat, definitely the highlight of the plate. The service was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the meal, which really added to the experience. At the end, they brought out a free dessert—a soft, fragrant orange cake with cinnamon that was absolutely amazing and easily my favorite part of the meal. That said, the restaurant does strike me as being geared more toward tourists, likely due to its location and a menu that is partly ready-made or pre-frozen. While that doesn’t take away from the overall enjoyment, it’s something to keep in mind. I’m giving it four stars because while the food and service were very enjoyable, there were a couple of small execution issues. Still, I’d happily return for the coffee and cake.

I loved this place, even on a hot day the garden was cool and covered in shade from the vines growing overhead. Fairy lights and stone walls added to a great atmosphere. And the food... it was very tasty and fresh. Squid was exquisite: fresh, soft and only dusted in flour as opposed to heavy battered oily and rubbery thing you find in some places. And you get the whole plate of just squid and lemon, no silly plate fillers.

I had some lunch here today and loved the Musakhan and chicken salad. The musakhan was delicious with little taste of cinnamon and I just loved it! The service was fast and attentive. My husband loved the complimentary desert - some traditional cakes very much. Loved the lights and vibes on the ceiling thus would love to come back here for dinner again.

For our main course we got the chicken souvlaki which was nice and juicy with a good flavor. We also got Moussaka, which I would not recommend. The dessert was complimentary, and it was good. It tasted like some kind of orange breaded dessert. I liked it. Overall not a bad place to grab some food, if you’re in the area.

Efcharis Restaurant has a nice atmosphere and friendly service, but the food didn’t quite live up to expectations. The dishes looked good but lacked strong flavor, and overall the taste was a bit underwhelming compared to other spots nearby. It’s also on the pricey side for what you get, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. Not a bad place to sit and enjoy the area, but the food could definitely be more flavorful and better value for the price.

They have a complimentary bread and olive paste for starters and amazing portocalopita desert. The waiters are very attentive and the place is almost always full. You must try this place!

Best restaurant in Athens, Marco is a sweetheart he does everything cooks cleans serves with the most attention to detail. If you can’t tell the picture are from two different days. It was so good we had to change our plans and go back for a second meal. This is a low maintenance spot that will have to cancelling your fancy dinner reservations with out hesitation.

If you're looking to hide away from crowded streets and seek authenticity, this is your place. The food was wonderful, prices affordable, service excellent, very humane. The owner also gave us bottles of water to go. We had a very pleasant experience. Sure, this is not about luxury, nor modern fine dining. But that's the beauty lf this place. Simple a place, run by people, who don't consider it their job, rather hobby. And you can see their passion everywhere.

Wow what a find via Google maps! Forget the fancy overpriced posh looking restaurants that the majority of westernized tourists go for. This place is far superior if you want authentic traditional Greek food and atmosphere. We spent the whole time talking to other people dining here while were eating and everybody couldn't stop complimenting the food. We even ended up sharing dishes amongst other tables to savour other dishes for when we return it was that good! Only about 8 small tables so get here quick!

We absolutely IN LOVE with the food! Truly a godsend from heaven! The chicken was incredibly tender, perfectly cooked, and not greasy or overly salty. The restaurant sits next to a Vietnamese spot. The seating is outside only but you can order take away as well. The mushroom gyro doesn't compromise the authentic Greek flavors although they use vegetables it's flavorful and cooked well. The slaw gives it nice texture and I also had the cauliflower so I added some of those pieces to my wrap ! Great add should be on the menu. 🤌🏽 We also tried the kombucha and lemonade both were well balanced if you like those sorts of drinks we really enjoyed them!. The atmosphere is great minus being off a busy road but you get used to it. Dessert looked amazing I'll be back tomorrow to try! Hospitality was great and welcoming! I'll always visit when in Athens!

We had a very enjoyable lunch at Vegan Beat. The young girl serving us was quick to serve us. We especially the cauliflower burger in the pretzel bun. We have never had a pretzel bun before, and it was delicious, so fresh!! The mushroom gyros was tasty as well. Although, it wasn’t the best vegan gyros I had in Athens. There was slightly too much salad compared to mushroom filling in my opinion. We will definitely be back when visiting Athens.

A MUST visit!! We visited this place twice and we shared various options! Delicious pastitsio, soy mince patties, tsimitsuri burger, AND musakas. Delicious yummy sauces, very generous portions and such friendly staff. my favorite was the soy mince patties, high protein and so delicious! Definitely one of the best vegan spots in Athens. I visited the booth of Vegan Beat on the Vegan Life Festival a month ago. I had some spiral potatoes and the vegan space gyros, which both were really tasty. No wonder there was a huge line all the time I passed by their stand. After trying it I gotta say it was definitely worth the wait 😋✌️

The hand-cut chips were seasoned beautifully. They cater for groups of all sizes, though I recommend booking ahead if you want an outdoor table.

Recently stumbled upon this GEM on our honeymoon in Greece and wish we found it sooner. The food was amazing - best we had in all of Greece. Their calamari was to die for. Octopus was also amazing as well as their lamb orzo. The place was very busy and we did not have a reservation. They were able to seat us after waiting a few minutes. The server forgot to bring us water after asking 3 times for it, but we were happy to have a table. Food was worth it!!!

Before coming to Athens I did some research on good restaurants. Ella’s was on my list. So I went there on the first evening. The place is larger than expected. I could easily grab a chair. It has tables on both sides of the building and others inside (on street level and mezzanine). The food was delicious and the service was friendly and fast. With two glasses of wine, tap water, baked chick peas, pita bread, lamb orzo and octopus I ended up paying roughly 60 Euro, which is totally fair for the quality and average level for good places in Athens (to my experience).

We should have realised when we first walked in that the reviews do not do this place justice. We were greeted by a very impolite person and basically were treated as if it was a bother for them to even greet us even though we spoke in Greek. The food is very overrated and apart from the Domaldes which were tasty the rest of the food was very bland. Stay away from the octopus and scordalia there is no garlic in the scordalia and what is it with beetroot and the octopus definitely does not go. All meals did not live up to any of the previous reviews. Very much a tourist trap. And don’t start me on the service. The worst service out of all restaurants we have visited and as a Greek it was very disappointing. Would recommend to stay away there are a lot more pleasant and friendly restaurants in Athens

We have got a recommendation from friends to visit Ella during our girls trip and it was really worth it. The flavors were exceptional, fresh and modern. We enjoyed vegetarian food, the service was great and the location central and cosy. Our food tour guide also recommended the restaurant as one of her favorites and this should mean something as she was a professional chef in former days.

Wow what a great find in Athens! First, the ambiance. It is nice and airy and so beautiful. Next the staff. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The food was delicious. The cheese was amazing! The squid cooked to perfection and the hummus and dolmas were incredible too. The veggies with peanut butter were so good too and great way to sneak in veggies. A special thank you to Andreas, Zach and Harres for an incredible experience.

The food quality and taste are amazingly good, but the service is equally poor. During the three days I was there, I came twice, and both times when they brought the water, they didn't bring glasses. Or sometimes, they seemed to forget to bring the knife and fork. However, the food tastes so great that you end up forgetting about the poor service

Nice place to have food in the center. We tried the Gyros and it was really good. We also order falafel with hummus and was okey, not the best that I ever tried but okey. Nothing to complain! The service was okey but the price maybe too high.

Although is in a very busy and tourist point, service was quite fast. We were in a group of 6 ppl, had a table in the rooftop with a view to Acropolis. Food very taste , good portion and price.

The rooftop views are amazing, they don’t serve gyros at the roof level, they only serve them on the ground floor. The gyros were not up to our expectation, but the other main dishes looked really delicious. We’ll definitely visit again & order something other than gyros. For the gyros; the pita bread was really thick & the chicken quality was not the best, but the sauce was not bad 👍🏼 Enjoy the views, the main dishes & avoid the gyros 😅🙏🏼

Great little place. Very affordable, and a good selection of different, homemade foods. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Returned 2x during out visit. Had the pasta, fish and of course - homemade moussaka. Atmosphere was very relaxing, can eat outdoors or in.

A really nice restaurant that I have visited a couple of times. Staff is very friendly and accomodating and service is fast. The atmosphere is nice be it inside during winter or on the small backyard during summer. They have a varied menu with Greek tastes for meat,fish,vegetarians and they are all superb. Their home-made bread is something that stands out on its own. Prices are ok, do not expect something cheap but nothing overpriced as well, you pay for the quality.

We showed up on the night before they were closing for a 2 week holiday. We didn't have many choices but chose the greek salad, chicken schnitzel and mixed grill. It was so delicious! The service was so kind. When they found out it was my husband's birthday, the brought a candle and spice cake - so nice and delicious.

This was a great location from Hotel Zafolia, a quick 5min walk. A hotel staff member suggest on our first day in Athens. It has a very open feel and was nice to be able to see outside while enjoying dinner and drinks. We ordered the appetizers for two- which was a meal on its own. It had two of everything- Saganaki cheese (2), meat balls (2), pork chops (2), sausages (2), lots of fries, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and olives! I ordered the grilled bass which had great flavor and came with potatoes and boiled veggies. My husband ordered a chicken special that said came with some type of pasta however I think they misunderstood what he wanted and he got chicken kabob with a baked potato. The chicken had amazing flavor and was very tender and juicy. The potato had a bit to much sour cream on it. We were finished the waited brought us each a piece of orange cake. It was very moist with an interesting mouth feel and taste. The prices here are very reasonable and affordable. Overall, we would go again!

Hands down, the best street food in Athens! Everything was perfect. The chicken souvlaki was amazing. The traditional cheese "ΦΕΤΑ" on top of the potatoes created a wonderful harmony. Also, the traditional beer “ΑΛΦΑ” is truly delicious. This menu costs €16. Highly recommended! Thank you.

Chose this spot for my first Gyro in Pita in Greece and it didn’t disappoint. We were walking back to our Airbnb after a long walking tour and decided to grab a takeaway. The menu was surprisingly extensive, but everything was explained so clearly that ordering was a breeze. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes, packed perfectly with no spills. The first bite was divine, loved the contrast of fresh tomato and lettuce with the salty chips and juicy chicken. The pita itself was thick, soft and fluffy, just the way it should be. Definitely going back for more.

Just ordered two chicken giros at this place. I’m not one to complain or write negative reviews, and I realise not speaking Greek can lead to misunderstandings. The meat was not giros, but grilled chicken thigh. The waiter explained they did not do giros. I can live with this, but it was undercooked. The waiter said this was normal for chicken thighs. It did not seem safe to eat though. We said we couldn’t eat it, but did not get much of a response. So we walked. Not sure about what to make of this, I had the photos analysed by ChatGPT: “The chicken pieces in the photos appear: • Deep pink to almost raw inside • Glossy/glassy, which is typical of undercooked chicken • With a texture that looks like partially raw meat, not fully cooked thigh meat This is not the normal pink tint you sometimes get near the bone or from grilling. It looks undercooked and unsafe to eat.” The fries were good though!

Cannot stop thinking about the gyro I had here. Best one I had in my entire trip to Athens and it was so good I had to come back the next day. The staff were very kind, and they also have a set-up where you can buy a meal for an unhoused person. Also a gyro for 3.60€ ??? Unbeatable

The Greek fries with feta were addictive, and the Greek salad was fresh with a generous slab of feta. Fast service and a casual, authentic vibe make this place a must-try for classic Greek street food.

Came here for the third time during my quick stay in Athens and the food is not only very affordable, but also amazing. On top of the food being extremely good and fresh, the staff is also so sweet and friendly, especially Katarina. She made sure to come see us often to check up on us.

Casual and decent spot in the heart of Exarchia. We ordered the large Kalamaki mix (chicken, pork, and kebab) — generous portion and filling, reasonably priced. The flavors were good but nothing particularly memorable. A fine choice if you’re looking for simple skewers without any frills.

Since 2018, I’ve been to Athens five times, and every time I come here to eat. Everything was always great, but this time I was disappointed. The gyros was very dry and lacked flavor.

Don’t go here. Tourist trap!! At first it was difficult to order even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. We had to ask them 2 times to get the menu and then to order. We got the Greek menu. My friend ordered a drink. the menu said 9,5 euros but the waiter told us it was 12 euros. Also no beer was available except from draught fisher 0,4 for 7 euros… The toilet is horrible, impossible to flush and impossible to lock the door… nice interior though, but it doesn’t help. The people on the table next to us told us to leave before we got our drinks because they payed 40 euros for 1 beer and 2 vodka redbull😂 and I’m adding the photo below because the owner says “fake reviews” about all the bad reviews lol

I was a customer but NO enymore! Last night I had the wores experience of all my time in Greece. I feel very sorry as Iam a Greek from Australia. I write this to inform others too. When I first arrived they told me to sit at the very back table, otherwise had to be charged more viewing the live band. As didn't have any other choice, i sat at the very end. The waiter came and didn't explain to me that the prices have increased from last year. I Ordered 300 grams of eye rib and a small mashed potato on the side, 1 gin and soda. Thats all! They charge me for a rib eye , 17 euro's per 100 grams, they even charged me extra for the mashed potato, for the first time. (In the previous years it was included in the price). I didn't know that! If i did i wouldn't have ordered!!! Went there for a night out to hear the live band. It turned out very very bad! The kitchen closed at twelve i was asked to pay $ 67.00 euro's. I paid. The live band usually starts around midnight. When i asked the owner the ridiculous amount i paid, ironically he said to me you know what you had to eat. I said to him it's overrated and he laughed it Off... I got up and left without seeing the live band. Wores night of all! I will never go there again! People be alert of prices and their roudness!!

We reserved a table for 6 people in advance at 20:30 , due to information that the live music begins at 20:30. We came and realised that we were the only people there with no live music. We had full diner with drinks and waited for the live music to begin. When it began we have been asked to move to other small table . When we asked for some answers we’ve been told that the alcohol is going to be more expensive. Unbelievable.we asked for the check and left the place. We’ve been few times before at this place and never got such attitude. They will never see us again. So much other alternative places.

Our time at Aristotle in Piraeus was phenomenal. We came without a reservation and they were so so warm and welcoming. We wanted to sit at the bar because we just wanted to drink and enjoy live music. So we got placed at the bar which was standing vs. sitting but that wasn’t a problem at all for us. The music was phenomenal and had tones of Arabic music. But the best part was our bartender, Aiantas. Aiantas took great care of us. When we arrived we asked for a menu and he told us we won’t need one. He then proceeded to make us some of the best drinks we’ve ever had based on our preference and only a few notes on what we liked. As great as the music was, his drinks were better. We decided to go back the next day and stand at the bar vs. sit. I would highly recommend as a late night spot to no drinks, music, and vibes. Keep in mind I live in Manhattan so I’m no stranger to good bartenders. But Aiantas was great!

Update: Just because of the insulting comment I was downgraded from 3 stars to 1 star. You have to learn to respect people. disappointment We booked a place for a couple because we knew there were singers, we took a taxi, paid 35 euros and in the end the owner of the place tells us that there is no show because the singer is sick. It's a shame we weren't informed beforehand, at least we wouldn't have paid 70 euros for round-trip taxis

Yummy skewers slow cooked on the grill right in front of you. Quick, cheap and fast eats. We ordered the pork, lamb and chicken. My favorite was the lamb, my wife’s favorite was the pork. Beer on draft. Can’t go wrong with meats on stick With French fries, bread and a cold draft beer. Tight interior quarters, counter table seating inside and out. Affordable street food in Athens!

Sadly they pfe cook their skewers, if I go to it to a souvlaki only restaurant I would perfer to have it made fresh... Not into steps cooked so it's faster. Also the portion of fries I ordered extra was supper small compared to my three skewer... And then they also forgot to give my Tzatziki.

We really enjoyed our meal here and had the chicken and pork souvlaki. The meat was cooked fresh over a charcoal grill, and you could taste the difference that this made compared to a gas grill. The portions were very reasonable for the price. It was around 2.5 euros per skewer, which also included fries and some bread, and we'd recommend around 2-3 skewers per person. The Elvis theme of the restaurant was also very cool. Overall, this restaurant has a prime location in Monastiraki/Psyri, which cannot be beat for the price and quality of the food!

I had the Chicken Skewers, I guess they were called Kalamakia and it was juicy and tasty. Fries and 2 slices of bread was served with a single skewer for just 2.50 euros. I love the street foods in Athens ❤️

Very juicy, yummy souvlaki. We went here starving at 1AM straight from the airport and we left the place full and satisfied. Could not believe that we only spent 12euros for a delicious dinner for two! I am coming back to Athens in April 2025 and will definitely go back in this little gem. I studied abroad for a semester living only a few minutes from Piggy’s and it was the best place to get gyros for that time. Inexpensive, fast, and the best tasting gyros around. Absolutely recommend.

Small little family-run place with the best food. Bu far the best gyros we had while in Greece! Super tender meats, with fresh breads and a light sauce. We came back again for takeaway on our last night. Cheaper and tastier than many of the other fancier places we tried.

We got here after our 18 hour travel day and it was the first place we stopped! We wanted to get a gyro, but i believe because of the time of the night it wasn’t available. We got a pork and chicken skewer wrapped in pita bread! I’m not sure the difference between that and a gyro but OH MY it was delicious!!! It was the first thing we’ve eaten in 14 hours and it was the best in the world!! So grateful to have this be our first Greek restaurant! The owner and staff are very friendly aswell! Would definitely go back and definitely recommend

Had a great dinner this evening. The staff was fantastic. My Greek is nothing to speak of, but their English was exceptional. Very good Greek salad - beautiful tomatoes, red onion and cucumber - a very generous portion a fete cheese seasoned with Greek oregano with ample pita bread. Hamburger patty was cooked perfectly, I was embarrassed that I could not eat all of it. Had Coke zero and a good offering of Greek beer. Just a short distance from the Grand Hyatt and a far better dinner than we could’ve gotten at the hotel. Very reasonably priced dinner. Feels great supporting a local Greek restaurant. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a fantastic dinner at this spot as a family of three. We tried all three of the souvlaki meats, roasted chicken (not pictured), Greek salad & pita. It was so much food for such a great price. Wish we had found this spot sooner during our stay in Athens. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Very tasty restaurant in a cute little Greek house, go as a group so you can try many dishes! The cheese topped with honey 🧀🍯 was a great appetizer while we waited for the meats. We ordered all the different skewers including chicken, pork and sheep. The pork was my favorite for the skewers. Lamb kebabs were my favorite dish overall! So good that didn’t even need the tatziki (which btw was delicious too). The fries were also cooked to perfection. Walking distance from the Grand Hyatt in Athens so if you’re staying near there definitely check it out.

Really good food, really good meat, very simple, no frills place, with great low prices, and a very hot signature sauce. Been there for many many years, and the stable clientele shows it's quality. Don't expect nothing fancy, the waiter will bring you your food, but you order at the cashier. Enjoy the spicy twist to the typical Greek souvlaki.

I love the authenticity of this place and their unique sauce. Although I question the hygiene a bit but the taste is priceless. Unfortunately some days are quite full and they don’t deliver if it’s not close by.

If there’s one souvlaki place that’s stayed with me over the years. Tucked away on a quiet side street, it doesn’t look like much — until you see the line outside every evening. Everything is grilled to order, no shortcuts. But the real magic is in the red sauce. Spicy, addictive, and completely unique. I have no idea what’s in it, but I can’t get enough. For me, this is hands down as one the best souvlaki in Athens. I also love it because the place feels like it’s locked in another time — like nothing has changed in 20 years. One of the best souvlakia in Athens, their spicy kebab and kafteros sauce is really tasty and interesting. A bit packed with people but found seating as a walk in.

Honestly, nothing special. I know that it's one of the old school spots in the area, but visiting it in 2023, I cannot see the thrill. His sauce is good, extra spicy, so if you enjoy that definitely go for it. Other than that, the quality of chicken and pork meat in the pita was okeish - mediocre. The place is always crowded inside so be prepared to wait. A wiser decision would be the take away option.

We had an amazing dinner here. Plates are small and designed to share. The server recommended 2-3 plates per person. Everything was delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. He said outside and enjoyed a wonderful evening.

We arrived about 20-25min before our reservation time and were kindly greeted by Theodore, who told us we could sit outside by the church and order drinks while we waited for our table. Although it was a Monday night, it was busy and we overheard them telling people without a reservation that it would take about an hour to get a table, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time (keep in mind they do call you a couple of hours before to confirm that you're coming). Very nice atmosphere and vibe. It's a sharing concept so the portions are on the smaller side and you order multiple dishes. We were 2 people and ordered 5 dishes (none of which were from the "Big Plates" section of the menu). That was more than enough and we didn't even have room for dessert. The staff was kind and friendly, though the service was a bit slow at times. No big deal, very good overall. The food was good, well made and fresh. We had somewhat high expectations as we came after friends praised their fusion style dishes. I can't say we were impressed, but definitely not disappointed either. We very much enjoyed our evening and would go again, perhaps to the Glyfada unit. (For what it's worth, the person sitting next to us had gone to their Glyfada restaurant twice and was now trying this one). At the end, we were treated with a Mastika digestive shot, which was a nice touch and and a great way to end our evening.

Despite having visited Athens many times—three times in the last four months alone, not to mention my other travels around Greece—I have to say that dining at Dopios was a genuine revelation. The restaurant was highly recommended by an event organizer, and we had the pleasure of dining here with our entire group. It turned out to be a huge culinary discovery! I got to try dishes I'd never encountered before, even during my other trips, and I appreciated them so much. Our host called it one of the best restaurants in Athens, and I totally agree. The quality is excellent from start to finish: the appetizers were exquisite, prepared with great care. Both the meat and fish dishes we tried were exceptional and cooked to perfection. The wine selection was also top-notch and paired beautifully with the food. Dopios offers an authentic yet refined gastronomic experience. Absolutely fantastic! This place definitely deserves a visit, even if you think you already know Greek cuisine well.

This place was fantastic. The cheese croquettes were excellent as was the chickpea stew. Great hummus and bread and lots of other good dips. The standout for me was a green bean mint and feta salad with a salty lemon dressing. I already want more and I’m still full from dinner.

Outstanding meal. We’re from California (San Francisco) and live part time in Istanbul. We came over for the week to Athens. We visited Dopios Athens on our last day in the city and stopped in for a late lunch. We had their humus, bread, keftedakia, Sea Bass and desserts. The humus and bread were excellent. The keftedakia (meat balls) were a variation of what we have in Istanbul and were great. The Sea Bass was amazing! It had a very very delicate layer of bread crumb (maybe panko) and had a layer of glasswort (a type of seagrass/seaweed) and along side there was an incredible Kalamata olive cream which went perfectly with the fish. We cook a lot and I wish I had asked for their recipe. It is one of the best entrees we’ve had in a long time. We had two desserts. The Galatopita (milk “pie” with tres leches, and the Mpougatsa (crispy pastry balls filled with cream). Both were outstanding. The service provided by “Mike” was outstanding. He listened well, made great suggestions and stopped by the table several times to check-in with us to make sure everything was as we liked it. Overall Dopios Athens could easily hold its own in any big city like San Francisco and New York. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent food, service and a delightful location.

Wonderful chicken gyros with crunchy delicious seasoned fries. The place looks like a tourist trap but it definitely is NOT. The service is fast and the food is really delicious. The staff are nice and helpful even though the place was steaming from the hot weather which will make anyone grumpy.

There was a long line, but it went quickly. The cashier had what appeared to be a meltdown and walked away from the cash register, which slowed everything down. But once we got the food, it was surprisingly good, but the chicken was a little dry. Definitely good value for the cost, however

This location is right around the corner from the Acropolis museum on the walkway strip. The food here is consistently delicious full of flavour and the portions are just right. They have been serving the public for many years and know exactly how to marinate and serve their food properly. I do visit this spot every time I go through Athens and would highly recommend if your from the city or just visiting. The pictures to not do any justice just go and try it and thank me later. We landed in Greece, came right to our hotel and checked in. As we were out exploring we spotted Gyros Pou Gyrevis. There was a large crowd, so we decided to try it. We followed the protocol, placed and paid for our food. While that was being done one of the group was able to get a table (we were lucky!). The gyros and salad were fantastic! Just like we remembered them from the last time we were in Greece. The service was good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Under €4 euros for a gyro when places on the street next door charge you €18. Can’t beat that quick, filling and tasted good. Perfect for a quick pit stop to refuel. Especially before or after an acropolis visit.

We bought two pita gyro (one chicken and one pork) at 2pm. There was a resonable long queue at the cashier so I waited outside for a table to be free while my partner ordered the food. We were lucky to get a table but many customers had to either eat their food standing or go another place. It costed 3.8€ for a pita gyro. It's cheap but you don't get much food and we were still hungry afterwards. In addition, it didn't taste that good as expected. We had tried better ones before.

This is for me personally the best place for a Gyro in Athens city center! The meat is always fresh, and whatever you choose (chicken or pork gyro) you will not ma a mistake! Every time I come to Athens I go there to eat a gyro 🇷🇸🇬🇷
