Kebab shop
Lefteris O Politis (est. 1951) is a family-run business that has expanded to a new location in Nea Smyrni. The restaurant offers pita-wrapped souvlakis with options like juicy bifteki or spicy soutzouki beef sausage, served with fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, onion, parsley, and red pepper. The establishment prides itself on maintaining its traditional recipes while being managed by the third generation of the same family.
Best sandwiches! It's a must try in Athens. Each sandwich is 2,5€ and so worth it! Probably one of the best places and a must visit. Menu is simple, wait can be long around 10 minutes but so worth it.
Alaa C — Google review
Best souvlaki in Athens ! You definitely have to go there. Each sandwich is really cheap. Souvlaki is not that big so I recommend ordering at least two per person (but you will order more because it’s so good). Meat is delicious, juicy and well seasoned. Very friendly staff, family atmosphere. Many if simple (attached) but you don’t need anything more. Don’t go there right before closing time because they can be sold out. It’s a must visit! Highly recommend
Helena P — Google review
The BEST souvlaki place in whole of Athens! I first ordered one souvlaki as I wasn’t really hungry. As soon as I took the first bite I knew I would get another one. The meatballs in the souvlaki were very bouncy and juicy. The staff were happy that I came back and they made a new one straight away. If you are in the neighborhood try to swing by!
Zhizhong K — Google review
Amazing traditional souvlaki spot! You can really taste the quality and history here - they’ve been serving since 1951, and it shows. The meat is juicy and flavorful, the pita is soft, and everything feels authentically Greek. Perfect place for a quick, delicious bite in the city. Definitely one of the best souvlakis around!
Martyna S — Google review
Honestly the cheapest and best souvlaki I have had till date. This place only serves one dish- Beef souvlaki. If a place serves only one dish, you can imagine the confidence they have on their single item menu. The place is always crowded but service is fast. You will have to stand outside and eat. The beef was melt in the mouth and bread was soft and juicy. Reason, while the beef is being grilled, the bread is kept on top of the beef thus making sure it sucks all the juices from the beef making it soft and fluffy! The prices are unbelievable too! Single beef kebab on bread was 2.5 € and double beef kebab was 3.8 €. I don’t know how they keep prices so low, obviously it’s a volume game which u can see with the crowd flocking!
VINOD M — Google review
Timeless place. It’s got its character, charm and vibe. The food was quite basic though: a bit oversalted, lacking taste but cheap. A must try in any case.
AK A — Google review
3 products, simple as that. Very quick service, small price for small portion, but great value for food. Traditional old school place!
SVC — Google review
In my opinion, Lefteris O Politis serves one of the best souvlaki in Athens. The place is ironically as "Spartan" as it gets—simple, no-frills, but incredibly efficient and fast. The focus is entirely on the food, and it delivers. What I appreciated most was the ability to customise both the amount of meat and the level of spices, making each souvlaki just right for personal taste. Since we were waiting for dinner, we only had one each, but it was enough to appreciate the quality and flavour. The meat was perfectly grilled, well-seasoned, and wrapped in soft pita with just the right balance of onions and tomatoes. The overall experience was excellent, and I highly recommend stopping by—preferably on an empty stomach, so you can truly enjoy more than just one.

Fast food restaurant
Elvis is a popular souvlaki restaurant that started as a butcher shop in Kerameikos and quickly gained attention for its hipster vibe, lively atmosphere, and high-quality ingredients. The success led to the opening of a second location in Pangrati. Instead of the traditional wrapped souvlaki, they serve kalamaki sticks of beef, pork, or chicken with grilled pita bread.
I will definitely go back to Athens just for this, it was really good and I went back 3 days in a row! My fav was chicken while my friend love the pork, just try everything you will not be disappointed!
Starrr S — Google review
During our week in Athens we came here 3x! It is incredible and the food our kids asked for over and over again. Every single item is delicious.
Heather R — Google review
One of the best places for souvlaki in the area! The chicken skewers were absolutely amazing — juicy, perfectly grilled, and incredibly tasty, with a well-balanced marinade that enhanced the flavor without overpowering it. The prices are fair for the quality they offer, and the portions are generous. If you’re a fan of good souvlaki, this place is a must-try! P.S.: I’ll definitely be going back — if only for those incredible chicken skewers!
Antonis K — Google review
The souvlaki itself was delicous, juicy meat. Fries had no taste. Prices quite affordable which surprised us. But the staff could hardly speak english and their interest in us was non existent. Also, the seating inside was awful. Other than souvlaki meat, it was all mediocre at best.
Adam L — Google review
Tasty, authentic, and affordable. Charming decoration with Elvis pictures. If I had more time, I would definitely have come back.
Shaz D — Google review
one of the best spots in Athens for simple, tasty, and affordable souvlaki Highly recommended if you want authentic Greek street food at a fair price.

Very authentic experience with inexpensive, delicious greek street food. Extremely good value, for about 3-4 euro/person you can have a filling lunch. Next to the market, I’d gladly recommend it to tourist too, you get a real taste of local life here.

Restaurant
Hoocut is a modern take on the classic Greek fast food, souvlaki. Located in Athens, this restaurant offers an artisanal spin on the traditional dish by using carefully sourced meats such as pork, chicken, lamb, and beef. They also serve a vegetarian version of souvlaki. The open kitchen resembles separate shops including a bakery for fresh pita bread, a greengrocers, a butchers shop, and a grill house.
A local recommended this place and we were pleasantly impressed! Food: 5/5 tasty beef and traditional pork pittas along with the tastiest, the cheese spread with dip. Service: 5:5 servers were friendly and nice Atmosphere: 5/5 nice vibe with seating inside and outside
Melanie E — Google review
It’s an open kitchen, so if you sit inside, you get to see the chefs while making your meal. The taste was amazing, we had 3 different pitas and all of them tasted amazing.🤩 Highly recommended! We’ll go there again before we fly back home because its amazing taste. The service was okay.
Cindy Y — Google review
One of the best places to taste Greek street food. They do it differently than the traditional Gyros and Souvlak places. The main thing is that their products are really tasteful. I had the pita with Mutton which i have never taste it anywhere this waybin Greece. It was really good. I am big fan of Mutton meat so I definitely recommend it. The prices are higher than other similar places but you pay the quality and how much tasteful their products are. Don’t miss it if it happens to be around.
Thanasis B — Google review
After having quite a lot of gyros in Greece, hands down one of the best I’ve had! The pita bread was so fluffy and the meat wasn’t overly salty. Also fits my personal preference of not having fries in the gyros
Rebecca — Google review
Hoocut was the first place I ate at when I arrived in Athens and also the last one before leaving! That alone says a lot. Everything was just perfect from the meat and sauces to the bread and service. The staff were super friendly, and the flavors were simply unforgettable. My only regret about Athens is not eating here every single day! Absolutely amazing place 100% recommended.
Fatih A — Google review
We tried different gyros places in Athens, but it is definitely the No1. The taste is simply unbeatable, I could it eat it every day. After half hour of the opening time the place was full, so please come early for lunch.
Zoltan K — Google review
I loved the gyros at this place! The prices are great, it’s right in the center, and the service was really good. I ordered the chicken gyros.
Keyla M — Google review
Hoocut is a must-visit in Athens! Located in a great spot, it’s perfect for grabbing a bite while exploring the city. The menu is packed with flavorful options simple, honest Greek street food done really well. The open kitchen is a show in itself! You can watch the cooks preparing everything fresh, which adds so much to the experience. The whole team both the cooks and waitstaff are super friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. There’s also a great variety of Greek beers, which pair perfectly with the food. Whether you’re going for a classic pita or trying something new, everything is tasty and satisfying. If you’re looking for an authentic, laid-back spot with excellent food and a vibrant atmosphere!!

Gyro restaurant
Achilleas, a small and impeccably clean souvlaki restaurant in Neos Kosmos, Athens, has been a go-to spot for the best souvlaki since 1987. Their handmade gyros and juicy skewers are particularly noteworthy, with the marinated gyros standing out as unique due to its balanced spices and absence of unnecessary fats. The pork gyro is especially famous for its delicious, juicy, and spicy flavor.
An amazing local traditional Greek restaurant. I asked the chef to mix squid and shrimp dishes together and she kindly accepted. The food is super fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this place.
Arshia K — Google review
It very fresh and delicious with smokey taste. You NEED to go. OMG.I ordered pork. It’s the best grilled pork i ever have since I moved to Europe. It’s juicy and flavourful. I’ll go back for more! The service was friendly. I understand their main target is local people. We, as tourists, should be less demanding.
Piengnapa P — Google review
Famous place for gyros, but they serve a la carte and daily cooked food as well. We took a mix of dishes, the food came quickly and it was good. Prices were ok, mid.
SVC — Google review
I don’t even know what I had because they didn’t have the gyro so the guy suggested something else and i nodded and it was Fabulous!!! Super tasty pita, incredible chicken, something to it…absolute bomb. very cheap too
Thekman — Google review
The best gyros we've had so far! I really appreciate that they don't include fries in the standard gyro order—unless you specifically ask for them. It makes the pita feel lighter and more balanced. My wife and I were able to enjoy two each without feeling bloated. Great flavor, satisfying portions, and a thoughtful approach to ingredients. Highly recommended!
Nikolas 2 — Google review
Ate Gyros for at least a meal a day for my entire trip in Greece. This has the be the best gyros in Athens, might even be Greece. First of all, they don’t put fries in the gyros. It comes as a side. This difference already sets it apart from the other gyros and improves the overall flavour of the gyros without the greasiness from the fries Secondly, it’s has an excellent meat, vegetable and sauce ratio. In other places, you would get too little meat, and too much sauce. The cucumbers and onions were fresh and thinly sliced. Every bite comes with a crunch. The meat so juicy and flavourful Lastly, the pita bread. They were roasted fresh on the spot. It’s crunch on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It’s not bread. It’s roti prata without the buttery taste. The gyros is amazingly delicious. Best of all, it’s only 3.7 EUR per gyros and you get a hearty, healthy meal. You know this place is good. When you see crowds outside a little shop in a dingy neighbourhood. This is a takeaway shop
Danson A — Google review
They're the real deal! If you’re searching for the most delicious gyro in Athens, the kind that locals line up for, this is the spot. Hidden in a neighborhood, it’s refreshingly unpretentious, serving mouthwatering food with genuinely warm and attentive service.
Julieta B — Google review
A lovely local gyros spot. We got there really early because most reviews suggested they’re wiped clean before 9. I’m glad that we did because even then the wait time was about 15 minutes as there was already a short line forming. The premises are nothing special, though that just adds to the authentic feel imo. The pita gyros itself was superb as well.

Greek restaurant
Kostas is a renowned eatery in Athens, known for its delicious souvlaki wrapped in pita. The restaurant has a rich history, with the original owner's grandson now running the spotless hole-in-the-wall establishment. The menu features choice meat, tomato, onion, cayenne pepper, parsley, yogurt, and crispy pita bread. Another popular spot is Souvlakopoleion Alexandros in western Athens run by two siblings who relocated from northwestern Greece.
Absolutely delicious. This place clearly has a good reputation for a reason. The red sauce on the beef pitta was absolutely delicious. This place can get very very busy. We were fortunate to come by on a very hot day so the lines were shorter. There is a small area to sit out front. It is a nice reprieve from the heat to eat your pitta and sip on water.
Chad R — Google review
Food was decent. It was our first gyro in Greece but definitely not the best. Line took a while and the food was good but could have been better. Fries were super soggy. Pita was also delicious
Sergiu I — Google review
Best kebab pita of my trip. Bit of a wait (maybe 10-15 minutes), but the line moves quickly, and the meal is well worth the wait. They have some outdoor seating, which was filled when I was there, but the restaurant is located in a square with many seating spaces.
Katherine G — Google review
We tried the pita beef souvlaki. The place only sells souvlaki, not gyros, just to know. There are pork and beef options. I liked the souvlaki, the meat was soft, tasty and juicy, and the pita was very soft too. You should come here for a delicious souvlaki.
Emel E — Google review
The best suflaki in the area. Doesn’t look as fancy as other places but the food is excellent. Had the pork skewers, it was delicious.
Arik G — Google review
Amazing pita, with a tomato sauce instead of the tzatziki I've seen in other places. Super tasty, good price, good service. There are some tables outside to enjoy your meal. Must visit when in the surroundings.
Karina P — Google review
Fresh ingredients, very tiny bbq plancha so long lines to get a gyro. And as they do Wolt (equivalent of UberEats or Deliveroo) it becomes very long lines pretty fast Good gyro but does it worth waiting 20-30min when u can get one as good elsewhere not far ? Not sure
Chris B — Google review
Hands down, best gyro spot in Athens. For being in the dead city center, its prices are impressively cheap and its food is very delicious. The founder has been there for several decades and he was there when we went. We just asked him to make us something he recommended and thought we would like. He made us a beef gyro with a tomato sauce that I haven’t tried anywhere else. The beer is also $1.50 and well worth it. During lunch and dinner time, there will definitely be a line. The food comes out very fast.

Vegan restaurant
Cookoomela Grill offers a delightful vegetarian experience with its satisfying souvlaki wrap featuring four types of mushrooms and a variety of sauces, including tomato, mustard, and herbs. The menu also includes tasty lentil kebabs, a vegetarian soup of the day, and vegan Sicilian cannoli for dessert. With limited indoor seating but some scattered tables outside, the restaurant opened another branch in Gyzi due to its popularity.
There are so many vegan places in Athens and it was real hornet's nest to choose something during a short trip, but I hit the jackpot! We had Rainbow supreme souvlaki and cookoomela bacon n' cheese burger, both were amazing 😍 and the prices are very reasonable. If I ever return to Athens, I will definitely go back to Cookoomela, and I wish such businesses every success. ✌️❤️

Amazing place in Exarcheia. The mushroom gyro is one of the best gyros I've ever had and the drink options were fantastic. The best value meal we had in Athens. The staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was brilliant. Would thoroughly recommend
Joel M — Google review
Finally a place with incredible veg options! The menu is super wide, and offers a lot of alternatives between mushroom gyros and lentil kebab We took the pink and rainbow souvlaki and a lentil kebab The prices are super law, we’ve spent 20€ for 3 souvlaki, a beer and a glass of vegan homemade red wine Really recommended :)
Maria T — Google review
The best value and most delicious meal! €5 for an insanely delicious and homemade mushroom gyros that blew my mind. The vegan mayo sauce was epic. Really chill, down to earth and friendly spot
Natasha B — Google review
Best vegan place in the best district in athen. The owner could even remember our order from the last time and he is super freindly. Nextdoor there is a pingpong table wich was fun too. Really lovely 11/10
Julian U — Google review
Worth of trying the food here. You can have a typical famous gyros, but instead of meat, with mushrooms inside. The mushrooms, mushy but also crunchy making them a great substitute of meat. Also the vegan sauces are really good here.
Thanasis Z — Google review
Best gyros ever had. I wish somewhere back home in Brighton could do something like these. Excellent quality, great nutritional value, non greasy and very well priced. Possibly my favourite food whilst here in Athens.

We loved the pitas so much that we came back three times. Perfect street food, super nice service, we didn't wait long for the food, and the portions were big enough to keep us going for hours.I think it's our number 1 for the vegan options in Athens, 10/10!

Restaurant
Kalamaki Bar is a modern grill restaurant located in downtown Athens, offering a variety of souvlaki made with Greek ingredients sourced from small local farms. In addition to the classic pork and chicken options, they also serve lamb and beef souvlaki for a unique twist. The restaurant prides itself on using simple, quality ingredients and providing a friendly dining experience. Situated just a few blocks away from the Acropolis, it's an excellent choice for those seeking delicious yet budget-friendly Greek cuisine.
Our best meal in Athens and one of the best grills I’ve ever had! The pork & kebab sticks are my favorite - sooooo juicy & well-seasoned!!! Grilled mushroom and sausage are also very nice! Great service! If you have to wait for table - trust me, it’s worth it!
Hang N — Google review
Brilliant place. T Bone veal for less than 20 euros! Food came out fast and delicious. Pita breads were warm and fries were delicious. Service great. Friendly atmosphere. Really impressed. Great value. Great place.
Kindah B — Google review
We came across Kalamaki Bar by chance after reading some reviews. The place has a modern look and a pleasant atmosphere. The pork and chicken souvlaki were tasty, though surprisingly served without pita, and the buffalo burger was underwhelming. Service was a bit slow, and overall there are many better options if you want a more authentic Greek experience.
Mema — Google review
A nice, atmospheric bar with delicious food. The seafood, kebabs, and other grilled meats are delicious and juicy. The staff speaks English, and there's a menu in English. The prices are reasonable, and the restrooms are clean and smell nice. I highly recommend to try the Kalamaki salad.

Great food and atmosphere. Came here on our first night in Athens. The servers are nice. When you walk up to the large menu, they will let you sit anywhere you’d like or accommodate you to your party size. The kalamaki bar salad was delicious. Also the sausage and the skewer meats were very tasty.
Edlin E — Google review
Dinner here was the best meal we had in Athens. On Drakou Street, Kalamaki is one of the few good places in this area we wished we could return to. The staff is friendly and made some helpful suggestions. We had a terrific Greek salad of tomatoes and feta (IMO the Greek salad is a sign of how much care a restaurant takes) It was GOOD. The corn pita was superb, eaten too fast to photograph! The dish of olives was great, and we had a divine baked eggplant with diced bell peppers, wild rice, and souvlaki skewers of BBQ pork and chicken, perfectly cooked. The house red wine was good and reasonably priced. Kudos to the staff and chef, they do things right! PS, the bill for our feast was only 36 euros. Highly recommend.
Ed M — Google review
Superb restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. The Greek salad was delicious and the various kebab sticks were really great. The Halloumi kebab stick was also a personal favourite. The spicy feta dip also paired very well with olive oil and the bread. The olives are listed as ‘olive oil’ on the menu. The setting was nice with good outdoor/indoor seating. Really good service and would certainly return. It does get busy with locals (a good sign) and they offer a takeout service, if you would rather take something back to your hotel. Good beer menu.

Kebab shop
Tomas Kebab, established in 1983, is a renowned eatery in Athens that has its roots in Armenia and the Levant. The owner, Tomas, brought his expertise in local cuisines to Athens and opened this famous souvlaki shop. Specializing in kebabs made from beef, lamb, or chicken along with delightful falafels, Tomas has perfected the art of kebab-making. His son Marios also contributes to the family business.
The chicken kebab was good. The fries exceptional. The waiter speaks English and communication is very smooth.

Amazing Armenian style kebab in Athens! Must try. We loved it 🥰 and honestly the best lehmejoun I’ve ever had!
S H — Google review
I honestly don’t understand how this place has such high ratings. We sat down, waited, and no one brought us a menu. Eventually, we had to get up and grab it ourselves. Then a staff member came to our table and spoke to us in an incredibly rude and impatient manner, as if we were bothering him just by being there. He answered our questions with visible annoyance and brought the food and water by practically slamming them on the table. Even if the food is decent, service like this completely ruins the experience. Hospitality is about more than just food — it’s about treating people with respect. This restaurant failed at that on every level. If I hadn’t been starving late at night, I would’ve walked out. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. A place with this kind of attitude doesn’t deserve the praise it gets.

Tomas Kebab is a must-visit! The Armenian food here is absolutely delicious, flavourful, authentic, and made with care. Every bite was incredible and full of rich, traditional taste. The service is always great!! They are so friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall great experience. Highly recommend if you’re looking for amazing and high quality food!

Found this place through an article in a magazine, about the best kebab places in Athens. The shop is very old but original. Reminded me of the kebab shops of the 70’s. The kebab preparing area though is refurbished. I tried the original kebab and I was impressed. Smooth flavor, not heavy or very spicy, with good balance of salt and fat. This is not the place that you will visit to stay for dinner, since there are only 3 tables. But I highly recommend it for take away, if your appetite needs a good and original kebab.

Kalyvas Family Grill is a long-standing family-owned grill house located in Koukaki, Athens. Established in 1993, it has evolved from a humble souvlaki-to-go joint to a popular grill house for family outings. The gyro is the star of the show, known for its crispy, slightly smoky flavor and lightness on the stomach.
We got the Greek salad and pork and chicken gyros, then the baklava at the end. The salad was fresh(so good I forgot to photograph), and there was a good portion of feta. Both the chicken and the pork in the gyros were tasty, and the pita was nice and soft. We were told that the pork was the traditional way to have it. Since everyone got their own salad and gyro, we were all quite full with leftovers after. Our waiter was very friendly and patient, and the overall atmosphere was good. At the end, the baklava was also quite good.

We went to this nearby place last night for a relaxed dinner. The menu features classic Greek favorites like pita gyros, grilled lamb, and other local specialties. We sat out on the terrace, which was perfect — it allowed the kids to run around safely in the pedestrian area nearby while we enjoyed our meal. The service was kind and attentive, the portions were generous without being overwhelming, and overall the food was tasty and satisfying. Great value for money, making it a solid choice if you're looking for a quick, no-fuss Greek meal in a laid-back setting.

Such a good spot to eat, drink and watch some football on the tvs if it’s on. Grabbed a table, ordered a bunch of food and watched some football with the locals. Great time. Went back again tonight for some takeaway. Super quick service and lovely staff. Well priced as well.

Bill's service was super good!👍 he recommended me the eggplant salad, and it's the must try!!!!! with the baked bread, perfect match! 😋 However the wrap was mhhh... too much sauce, I had to take a lot out. 😂 In the end they gave some watermelon which ends the meal perfectly. 👍 A dog friendly place as well, even provide water for dogs.

Great first night — warm welcome, delicious food, perfect service. Next day at lunch — completely different: unfriendly staff, “no meat” while others were served meat, and suddenly “cash only.” Felt like a tourist trap. Left disappointed. Won’t be back.

A place that was always full of people. Stayed in Athens for two weeks, been there three times. The pita was really good! A bit chewy but soft. The meat was very good too. The beef was tender and the chicken wasn’t dry at all.

This was our very first meal in Athens during the heat wave, and my son couldn’t have picked a better spot. It’s in the busy area by Monastiraki Square, but the service is super fast. The yogurt kebab was juicy and packed with flavor, and the Greek salad tasted so fresh. Portions are generous, the beer was ice-cold, and the lively vibe made the crazy heat much easier to handle. Such a great start to our trip. Highly recommend!

I had the yogurtlu kebab, and it was tasty and full of flavor. The portion size was huge, and although the prices are high, it was okay considering the restaurants location and the big portion size. The place was packed and had a lively vibe. We also got tzatziki, pita bread to dip in the tzatziki, and red wine, all of which were good. Due to its touristic location, the restaurant might look like a tourist trap, but they actually serve delicious food.

The pork was cooked very well and my wife's salad was great. The portions are very generous. Her fries weren't amazing but they were serviceable. The service was quick and the prices were reasonable. Very easy to recommend this dining spot for Greek cuisine.

The meat I ate at Thanasis Kebab was generally juicy and cooked to the right consistency, but it was quite salty for my taste. The plus points of the place were the large portions and the well-cooked meat. Despite being ranked 46th among the top 100 restaurants on Taste Atlas and 1st in Greece, I personally don't think it deserves these scores in terms of price, service, or taste. I believe its central location is what makes it popular. If you're considering eating here, I'd recommend you think twice

The quality of the meat and its preparation are exceptional, and the pita bread is described as dry rather than greasy.
The best gyro we had in Athens for sure. The line was a 30 minute wait but worth it. We had 2 pork and 1 beef gyro, both were great. I highly recommend stopping in for this lunch, even if the line seems long. The guy on the grill is the owner and was very friendly to chat with for a brief moment.

Amazing souvlaki spot in Athens!! It is the most traditional, excellent service, fast and amazing price! There might be a line and just keep in mind they are limited seats inside so you will probably be doing take out.

Great food and service! Definitely worth the wait. Was the best gyros we had in Greece and very good price too. Would definitely go back multiple times. Highly recommend if you're visiting.
Crystal T — Google review
Overhyped. The wait was over 50 minutes long because they cook on a grill flat top to order. Even with it being fresh off the grill, the beef souvlaki was dry and lacking in flavor. I rarely give bad reviews but it was not worth the wait.

An iconic and historical place with great souvlaki. They open at 10:25am, so google was wrong and we had to wait for a while, but it was totally worth it. The inside is full of pictures of the family, news articles and delicious smell of the food. Definitely worth a visit.

This restaurant was a mainstay for our trip and we will most certainly be returning when we return to Greece!

This place is amazing. We were visiting Athens and staying across the street. The first time we ate here was out of convenience. The second time was because we could not stop thinking about the delicious food. Seriously, the best tzatziki ever.

Greek salad is good, but the rest of food was tasteless. Besides, they charge for the bottle of water we even didn't ask while in most places around Athens they give a bottle free of charge as a compliment. The place is quite expensive and if you want good quality greek food, this is not a place to visit.

Greek restaurant
Meat the Greek is a popular spot in touristy Athens, offering a unique dining experience with its menu presented on a scroll in Greek. The staff are accommodating and can help with translations. The restaurant features different themed rooms, including one with a Cinderella fireplace. Visitors rave about the delicious food, particularly the chicken souvlaki and gyros pork. The service is fast and efficient, and the owner provides warm hospitality.
When I tell you this was the best flatbread sandwich of my life, I don’t say it lightly. As we later learned from the sweetest, most attentive owner himself, every single ingredient is fresh and of the highest quality — and my god, it shows. The fluffy, textured, perfectly chewy dough envelops the most succulent, smoked, and beautifully roasted meat, drizzled with the freshest, tangy, zesty yogurt sauce, and perfectly complemented by slices of tomato that burst into the yogurt as you bite into your wrap. I ordered mine without fries inside (which, in my opinion, have no place in wraps) and highly recommend you do the same. Instead, do yourself a favor and order their French fries on the side — I promise, they’ll be some of the most delicious fries you’ve ever had. The second I bit into my wrap, I announced I was coming back here. It’s that good. We came to try the gyros, but they were sold out by the end of the day, so I ordered the chicken souvlaki instead. I’m heading back today, earlier, to finally try the gyro. To top it all off, we finished the meal with yogurt and fig jam made by Mr. George’s mom — come on! You just can’t beat that. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of my trip to Athens.

The must try restaurant for Greek food, the best watermelon salad in town, we came back again for it! And gyros, souvlaki, the fried feta, yogurt, everything is very yummy! The owner is very nice and you can tell he is a food lover! And today, we went back for the yogurt for dessert only, we were so embarrassed that it was too little to have a table, but when we ask for a bill, they told us it was on the house, such a nice and kind place!

The chicken meat is pretty decent, the sauce was quite good too. However the wrap felt quite plain in terms of ingredients as it only had the meat+tomatoes+fries. + The skewers here comes with pitta bread so that’s pretty good Price point here is slightly more expensive than usual.

Souvlaki Leivadia welcomes you with a smile. It is not located in one of the fanciest quarters of Athens, such as Plaka, but their skewered pork is second to none. Juicy pork kebabs, fresh greek salad, crisp fried potatoes... what more can a weary traveller ask for on their first night out?

This place lives up to it's name. It has been the tastiest food I've had in Athens. The pasta is hands down the best and the gyros are not bad as well. The chicken is very moist and grilled to perfection. This is my new go-to spot while in Athens

I spent 3 days in Athens and came here 3 times in a row! Amazing food, good prices and good portions. Loved every bit of it. The gyros are amazing, the steaks and the pizza was the second best I ever had in my life
Konstantin K — Google review
There are some good restaurants in Athens. This is not one of them. You are greeted by a very dominant waitress telling you what you have to do. Once we got some food the gyros was luke warm. When we told the waitress we were told "it's all the same". We had to insist and they warmed it up, but when they brought it back the waitress sarcastically said "warm gyros". Now to my order. I ordered a tsatsiki as a starter and chicken thighs as a main. These are advertised as 500 gram. Well, the tsatsiki was not served and half of the chicken thighs were bone (see picture). When I confronted the waitress about my missing tsatsiki she said I got potatoes with my mains. In the end I got the tsatsiki, which was very average. Conclusion: there are other places in Athens where you are valued as a customer and the staff is helpful instead of being condescending. And where food is better.

We were so happy with our food we ate there 3 times during our short stay in Athens. They were so kind to give us free dessert on our 3rd meal😀

there is a reason i dislike cities. the only dish that id recommend as worth it for the price and how it tastes was the beat salad. everything else was a bit mid, and served luke warm, the crispyness had become soft on aome of the fried food we had gotten as well. this is worth it if you need to eat in a pinch, but im sure there is a better option out there.
Phil — Google review
I recently dined at Best Taste and let me tell you, they weren't kidding about the name! The food was delicious and left my taste buds doing the cha-cha slide. But the portion sizes? Oh my goodness, they were bigger than Mount Olympus itself! I think I could've fed a small village with just one plate. The prices were unrealistically low, which made me wonder if I was actually in Athens or if I accidentally stepped into some sort of culinary Wonderland. If you're on a budget, this is the spot for you. You'll leave with a full stomach and a full wallet. The only downside was the slow service. But hey, I guess that's what happens when you're serving up gigantic portions that could feed a small army. Overall, I highly recommend Best Taste if you're looking for a tasty meal and a bargain. Just make sure you have a big appetite and a lot of patience for the slow service.

Located in the streets of Kallithea, The Rosides is a popular fast food joint that has been serving delectable souvlaki since its establishment in 1990. Despite its original name, "Souvlaki-Piroski," it is commonly known as The Rosides, which translates to "Russian Women." Owned by the charming Anna from Pontos, this eatery has undergone minimal changes throughout the years. Initially without a telephone, they have now added one to their services.
It’s like the most 90s corner of Kallithea. All customers wait with some kind of sacred patient the old lady , she’s very polite and every one knows her and salutes her with smiles. That only could tell a lot. Piroshki is very tender and delicious. Pita with souvlaki is really great but I preferred all the way the one with the patty. The red sauce in it is awesome! Prices are very reasonable for what you get and I will definitely visit again very soon!

We had one of the most delicious, mama-made souvlaki experiences we've ever had in Athens. The pirozhki were also amazing—especially the meat one, while the cheese version was uniquely tasty and had a slightly sweet twist. The lovely lady making them was incredibly kind; she waited for us to finish our first round of souvlaki, then freshly prepared the second batch so we could enjoy them piping hot. That, to me, is impeccable attention to the customer. This is an "eat-on-the-go" spot, so don’t expect tables or chairs—but that only adds to the charm. I’m so glad I had the chance to visit and experience this heartfelt, authentic place in Athens. Definitely one of the best homemade-style souvlaki spots, made with so much love.

The pirozhki is amazing, they make it with 3 different fillings: minced meat, cheese and potato. But make sure to be on time if you want to try them, because the demand for them is huge and some days they can be sold out within a few minutes. The souvlaki is also great and it differs from the regular ones, as it is not served with tzatziki, but with their own unique homemade sauce.

The portion is big and it comes with basmati rice as well, so all this amount of food for ~13€ is really worth it. One thing I don't like, is that you have to order at the counter and then the waiters bring you your food at your table, which doesn't make sense to me, since they're still paying for the waiters but they can't assist you fully. For example there was a mistake with my order that I didn't notice at the counter and when I told the waiter he just told me to go two floors down to the counter to change it.. of course I didn't do that but that's just really inconvenient and the staff seems a bit rude and careless. Nevertheless, if you crave Indian food it's a great place to go!

Went for the rooftop view. Ordered the tikka masala pita and it was a big portion so lasted me two meals which was good but I felt the flavor wasn’t that strong or spicy, so that was disappointing. Went on a weeknight and a bit before sunset so there was no wait but there are only a few rooftop tables so go early if you want to see sunset.

Very disappointing experience. The restaurant markets itself as Indian, but the food was far from authentic. The dishes we ordered were overly spicy without balance, and some items were even undercooked, which made them inedible. On top of that, the service was poor — slow, inattentive, and unhelpful when we mentioned the issues with the food, they even asked us to clear the bill even before serving us food. Athens has many wonderful restaurants, but unfortunately, this one is not worth recommending.

🌶️ Mirch Indian Restaurant, Athens – A “Culinary” Scam in Disguise 🌶️ ⭐☆☆☆☆ (Would give -5 if possible) Walked in hungry, walked out confused — and slightly robbed. Went to wash my hands before eating, came back to find a papadum and an overpriced water bottle magically placed on my table. Didn’t order them, didn’t want them, but apparently Mirch believes in surprise billing. Ordered a simple naan dish — got something they proudly called “Indian souvlaki.” Picture dry half-cooked rice stuffed inside naan, filled with sad dal and a mystery “raita.” Honestly, if food had feelings, this dish would’ve apologized to me. Had to order plain yellow dal and naan just to feel human again. The waiter then asked me to pay before showing the bill — bold move for a place that serves confusion instead of cuisine. Staff have zero manners, the service is shady, and the food is pure comedy. Mirch is not a restaurant — it’s a tourist trap wearing a curry costume. Avoid it like expired paneer.

If you can just ignore the fact that every summer prices go 40%-50% up due to tourism, it is a great place with delicious food. You just have to wait for the prices to go down again, from November and onward.

Incredible how this place in a short 6moth period doubled the prices and downgraded the food quality. I used to come to this establishment at least once a week and literally brought anyone I knew , the food used to be affordable and authentic, it is no longer any of those . I definitely wont visit this restaurant again , and will tell all my friends about this. This place no longer serves free water The stuff barely knows what they are serving. Spices are now absent from the food , and it lacks authenticity. What a shame .

A great spot for a Vegetarian dinner in the heart of Athens. The Dall Channa with some chilli naan was very filling and full of great Indian Spice. 9 Euros total. Not even a 5 minute walk from Monistiraki Square and a great roof top patio with a gorgeous view of the lit up Acropolis. A very chill vibe with an excellent dinner.

If you're venturing beyond Athens, a trip to the port for a taste of Giorgos is an absolute must. This charming psitotaverna specializes in grilled meats and offers an unforgettable souvlaki bifteki experience. Each pita is generously filled with two juicy patties crafted from premium beef sourced from northern Greece, complemented by fresh ingredients like sweet red cayenne, ripe tomatoes, finely-sliced onions, parsley, and a delightful blend of sweet and spicy sauce.
First night in Athens, wondered around the square, didn’t want pizza and burgers, or ridiculously overpriced food, sound this spot. Excellent service, location, and the food killed, so good! Likely some of the best Tzatziki we’ve ever had. The person serving us took pride when we said it was, he explained they made it daily, you could tell, excellent! The pitas also did not disappoint. Super happy we stopped here. Highly recommend.

This place is a “psitotaverna,” meaning a fast-food style restaurant specializing in grilled meats and chicken, and I should say that upfront. We visited twice, once in June and once in August. First of all, everything is prepared right in front of you. It’s clean, fast, and delicious. One word of caution: if you order a portion, keep in mind that the servings are quite large. By the way, their classic kalamaki-pita wraps are also quite filling.

food is incredible, really tasty and pretty fast to arrive too! Service was also very good and very friendly wait staff. The menu is all in Greek only but a Google translate solves that easily and the wait staff are more than happy to assist. Really lovely vibe in the area and very affordable. We only spent 26 euros for a HUGE platter for two that also did breakfast the next day! Thankyou so much ❤️

I loved this place. I don't know what people are complaining about. I was amazed with the effectiveness of everyone at this place. 9 people behind the counter and 4 waiters. And no lazy people hanging around like in many other places. And the food... to die for. We had a Greek salad, chicken skewers, french fries, Greek bread and tzatziki, a simple meal but oh so tasty. The chicken melted in my mouth, it was tender and not greasy at all. Try this place to make your own opinion, it really is worth it. It is not gourmet but it's honest great clean food.

Every year I visit Greece and I have tried the souvlakis all over the place and this one is maybe the best. The taste is classic. Now you can complain all you want about the price/service or other stuff but when it comes to souvlaki wrapped up you can't get better than this. I discovered this place last year and I was hesitant to try based on the reviews but the reality was that it tastes amazing. I went back this year and indeed it was as good. So to the owner, please keep up the good work and don't change anything in the recipe.

The vegan café has a fantastic selection of breakfast options. I really enjoyed the jackfruit and scrambled tofu wrap, although it was a bit small for the price. One of the best introduction to Athens, Greece meals I ever had. The service and food is perfect. The staff were so attentive and kind, tending to our 32 people group needs without missing a beat. Restaurant
LIONDI Traditional Greek Restaurant, located near the Acropolis Museum on Makrygianni Street, is renowned for its delectable chicken souvlaki, known for its perfectly moist and tender meat. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting ambiance with excellent service and generous portions of traditional Greek cuisine. Additionally, guests can savor the delightful homemade wine sourced from the village of Liondi.
It is a great spot for authentic Greek food with a cozy vibe. The tzatziki was super fresh, the calamari perfectly crispy, and the saganaki rich and cheesy. The grilled fish was tender and full of flavor, but the prawns in mushroom cream sauce stole the show, so good. We finished with galaktoboureko with ice cream, both amazing. Overall, delicious food, great portions, and definitely worth a visit if you’re craving real Greek flavors.

All of the restaurant workers were extremely friendly and the food was exceptional. We ordered a catch of the day white grouper along with a fried calamari as an appetizer. Our stomachs were way too full for dessert so we just asked for the bill and the waiter brought us two small portions of cheese cake and 2 lemon shots. The cheesecake was one of the best I’ve ever had and I found the offer to be very thoughtful. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Tourist trap, we came here all the way just for the "best" mousakka in Athens based on Google reviews, apparently even won an award!! The mousakka had hardly any meat and was under-seasoned. The waiters are super nice though and prices are steep. If you're looking for the best mousakka, this is definitely not the place!

My favourite meal in Athens and one of my favourite meals ever. Everything we had was just such good quality. Would definitely recommend here if you’re visiting Athens.

We really enjoyed this restaurant -- I'm a huge fan of traditional Greek food and my friend enjoyed trying the mezze dishes. Dolmadakia were delicious, with a nice taste of pomegranate. Mushrooms too were very tasty. The gyros plate is huge! It was to our chagrin that we didn't have enough room to put all that away, but immense value for money. Staff are very friendly and amenable.

It’s around the acropolis museum, great value taking into account the location, service food quality and even portion that you get. Pork souvlaki and sea bass are both so good! They have catch of the day 68€ for 2people but we didn’t order that this time. Homemade cheesecake made their chef and limoncello on the house after meal🥺 The cheesecake is so good as well, it’s more gelatinous, similar to flan. Service is great, Vasilis especially. Felt like he is either owner/manager. Overall really satisfied!!

This place is overrated I didnt like the service I dont like waitresses talking to loud we went for the moussaka I think thay still have a lot more to learn a lot of oil was drippping from it and the taste didnt feel good we took 2 plates and nob of them was finished The pasta was not bad i give it 8/10 (it was the best meal) The shrimp is overcooked The chicken breast was over grilled it was like eating gum! The greek salad was ok freshly cut they cant let it go bad, no matter how they do it!

Efcharis restaurant, located in Monastiraki, is a charming rustic eatery that serves up traditional Mediterranean dishes and homemade wines. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining in the lovely courtyard while being serenaded by live music every night from 18:00 to 00:00. Despite its popularity, the restaurant prides itself on fast service.
This restaurant was recommended by the hotel staff and it was located in a very hectic area. It is so popular that please make reservation. Not through online but make sure either phone or personal visit. The inside is better than outside. Service was very good. Please note that they have very very big portions therefore my recommendation is to go with main dish only and if you want to try more just order one saganaki. You won’t be able to finish all of it. Price are fair. Recommended.

I had a great overall experience at this cozy spot in Greece. I started with a Greek coffee, which was really good—rich, strong, and m reminded me of Egyptian or Turkish coffee. For starters, I had the fried cheese bites. Most of them were delicious, crispy on the outside with gooey cheese inside, but one was still partially frozen in the center and a few had a slightly bitter, undercooked doughy taste. For my main, I went with the pork gyro platter, which came with pita and potatoes. The pork was flavorful but a bit dry and not hot enough. I found myself wanting a bit more pita to go with it. The white dipping sauce on the side was creamy and flavorful, a perfect match for the meat, definitely the highlight of the plate. The service was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the meal, which really added to the experience. At the end, they brought out a free dessert—a soft, fragrant orange cake with cinnamon that was absolutely amazing and easily my favorite part of the meal. That said, the restaurant does strike me as being geared more toward tourists, likely due to its location and a menu that is partly ready-made or pre-frozen. While that doesn’t take away from the overall enjoyment, it’s something to keep in mind. I’m giving it four stars because while the food and service were very enjoyable, there were a couple of small execution issues. Still, I’d happily return for the coffee and cake.

I loved this place, even on a hot day the garden was cool and covered in shade from the vines growing overhead. Fairy lights and stone walls added to a great atmosphere. And the food... it was very tasty and fresh. Squid was exquisite: fresh, soft and only dusted in flour as opposed to heavy battered oily and rubbery thing you find in some places. And you get the whole plate of just squid and lemon, no silly plate fillers.

I had some lunch here today and loved the Musakhan and chicken salad. The musakhan was delicious with little taste of cinnamon and I just loved it! The service was fast and attentive. Started out with the halloumi, which was great. Also got the zucchini, which was soggy. Would not recommend. For our main course we got the chicken souvlaki which was nice and juicy with a good flavor. We also got Moussaka, which I would not recommend. The dessert was complimentary, and it was good. It tasted like some kind of orange breaded dessert. I liked it. Overall not a bad place to grab some food, if you’re in the area.
Andrew C — Google review
The food was really tasty and the atmosphere was nice and cozy. We ordered a lot of meat and a Greek salad — the portions were huge! The meat platter was definitely enough for four people, and we even took some home. The staff was friendly, but at the beginning it took quite a while before we were seated, which was a bit confusing. At the end, they brought us a complimentary dessert, which was delicious, such a nice gesture! Thank you for a lovely evening.

Efcharis Restaurant has a nice atmosphere and friendly service, but the food didn’t quite live up to expectations. The dishes looked good but lacked strong flavor, and overall the taste was a bit underwhelming compared to other spots nearby. It’s also on the pricey side for what you get, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. Not a bad place to sit and enjoy the area, but the food could definitely be more flavorful and better value for the price.

Mani Mani, located near the Acropolis Museum, is a popular dining spot that focuses on dishes and products from the region of Mani in the Peloponnese. Housed in a neoclassical building in Koukaki, it has been a favorite among travelers for years and is known for its regional specialties such as travihtes and green salad with sour apple.
Very good restaurant with kind, attentive staff and beautifully prepared dishes. The flavors were excellent across the board — the mushroom fricassee was rich and earthy, the Greek salad was fresh and unique, and the couscous main dish was truly delightful. If I may offer one small suggestion: the portion sizes, especially for the starters, could easily be scaled down a bit. Even with a good appetite (and having fasted 11 hours before the meal!), I found the quantities a little too much, which can take away from fully appreciating the progression of the meal. The setting is relaxed and unpretentious — not fancy, but welcoming. Overall, no regrets at all. A very good experience, tasty and thoughtful cuisine. A few small adjustments on portioning would make it even better.

We even ended up sharing dishes amongst other tables to savour other dishes for when we return it was that good! Only about 8 small tables so get here quick!

We absolutely IN LOVE with the food! Truly a godsend from heaven! The chicken was incredibly tender, perfectly cooked, and not greasy or overly salty. Just flawless… We also ordered a Greek salad, which was the perfect refreshing touch to complement the meal. The restaurant is run by the sweetest older couple, so kind and warm. They even offered us free drinks and snacks. 11 out of 10. Would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic and heartwarming Greek experience!!

From the outside, this place might not catch your eye. In fact, if you weren’t looking for it, you might just walk right past it. But let me tell you — this is a classic case of don’t judge a book by its cover. The moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed like family. The owners were incredibly friendly and genuinely warm — the kind of hospitality that immediately puts you at ease. They offered us bottles of water to bring with us as we leave and even surprised us with a complimentary dessert at the end of our meal, which was a sweet and thoughtful touch. Now onto the food — absolutely amazing. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and clearly made with care. You could taste the passion behind every bite. It’s the kind of cooking that makes you want to come back the next day just to try something new on the menu.

Vegetarian restaurant
Tucked away in a small arcade near Monastiraki square, The Vegan Beat offers a variety of vegan delights including burgers, skewers with mushrooms, and an array of sweets. Located in the heart of old Athens, this charming eatery serves up vegan versions of classic Greek dishes like souvlaki made with grilled mushroom yiros and a delectable vegan sauce.
A wonderful vegan place. The outdoor area is beautifully arranged, and I really liked the shop’s aesthetic. The girl working in service is amazing—friendly and always smiling. The menu is extensive with delicious vegan dishes, and what I especially liked was how they transformed traditional Greek dishes into vegan versions. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. I’ll definitely choose it again and I highly recommend it.

The restaurant sits next to a Vietnamese spot. The seating is outside only but you can order take away as well. The mushroom gyro doesn't compromise the authentic Greek flavors although they use vegetables it's flavorful and cooked well. The slaw gives it nice texture and I also had the cauliflower so I added some of those pieces to my wrap ! Great add should be on the menu. 🤌🏽 We also tried the kombucha and lemonade both were well balanced if you like those sorts of drinks we really enjoyed them!. The atmosphere is great minus being off a busy road but you get used to it. Dessert looked amazing I'll be back tomorrow to try! Hospitality was great and welcoming! I'll always visit when in Athens!
Brit P — Google review
We had a very enjoyable lunch at Vegan Beat. The young girl serving us was quick to serve us. We especially the cauliflower burger in the pretzel bun. We have never had a pretzel bun before, and it was delicious, so fresh!! The mushroom gyros was tasty as well. Although, it wasn’t the best vegan gyros I had in Athens. There was slightly too much salad compared to mushroom filling in my opinion. We will definitely be back when visiting Athens.

The food at Vegan Beat Athens is epic and, as a plus, seems to actually contain a good amount of protein. I tried the "Meatballs", the Epic Moussaka and the delicious and very decadent Snickers cake. Highly recommend! Good job, Vegan Beat! Please prosper and expand all over the world 🖖

Amazing food and very friendly staff! I ordered the meatballs (comes with tzatziki and salad) and the pastitsio (comes with salad). Both big portions and I’d would highly recommend! One dish is enough for one person. The server was very sweet and so welcoming. Service was also very fast — the food came really quick. Definitely check it out!

A MUST visit!! We visited this place twice and we shared various options! Delicious pastitsio, soy mince patties, tsimitsuri burger, AND musakas. Delicious yummy sauces, very generous portions and such friendly staff. my favorite was the soy mince patties, high protein and so delicious! Definitely one of the best vegan spots in Athens. Away from the big crowds as well so not so much noise. 🥰🌱

I visited the booth of Vegan Beat on the Vegan Life Festival a month ago. I had some spiral potatoes and the vegan space gyros, which both were really tasty. No wonder there was a huge line all the time I passed by their stand. After trying it I gotta say it was definitely worth the wait 😋✌️

Greek restaurant
Ella Greek Cooking is a cozy restaurant that specializes in traditional Greek cuisine. The kitchen is run by celebrated chef Nena Ismirnoglou, and features a large grocery store stocked with items from all over Greece. The food is delicious and homey, and the restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Fantastic dinner. This was our last day in Athens, and I wish we could have discovered this place before that. Everything was delicious. Even the simple Greek salad was just different and wonderful. We will definitely come back again next time we are in town.

Beautiful decor with a relaxed vibe, and the food was delicious. Wish we were more hungry to try more dishes! We ordered the oven baked lamb, zucchini rolls, and the kebab - all very good, but I think the kebab was our favorite.
Natalie L — Google review
5 stars all round. Excellent service, delicious food, and tasteful décor. Thoughtful details like sanitised cutlery show real care. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked in small cubes. The hand-cut chips were seasoned beautifully. They cater for groups of all sizes, though I recommend booking ahead if you want an outdoor table.

Recently stumbled upon this GEM on our honeymoon in Greece and wish we found it sooner. The food was amazing - best we had in all of Greece. Their calamari was to die for. Octopus was also amazing as well as their lamb orzo. The place was very busy and we did not have a reservation. They were able to seat us after waiting a few minutes. The server forgot to bring us water after asking 3 times for it, but we were happy to have a table. Food was worth it!!!
Renata P — Google review
Before coming to Athens I did some research on good restaurants. Ella’s was on my list. So I went there on the first evening. The place is larger than expected. I could easily grab a chair. It has tables on both sides of the building and others inside (on street level and mezzanine). The food was delicious and the service was friendly and fast. With two glasses of wine, tap water, baked chick peas, pita bread, lamb orzo and octopus I ended up paying roughly 60 Euro, which is totally fair for the quality and average level for good places in Athens (to my experience).
Matthias H — Google review
We should have realised when we first walked in that the reviews do not do this place justice. We were greeted by a very impolite person and basically were treated as if it was a bother for them to even greet us even though we spoke in Greek. The food is very overrated and apart from the Domaldes which were tasty the rest of the food was very bland. Stay away from the octopus and scordalia there is no garlic in the scordalia and what is it with beetroot and the octopus definitely does not go. All meals did not live up to any of the previous reviews. Very much a tourist trap. And don’t start me on the service. The worst service out of all restaurants we have visited and as a Greek it was very disappointing. Would recommend to stay away there are a lot more pleasant and friendly restaurants in Athens
George D — Google review
We have got a recommendation from friends to visit Ella during our girls trip and it was really worth it. The flavors were exceptional, fresh and modern. We enjoyed vegetarian food, the service was great and the location central and cosy. Our food tour guide also recommended the restaurant as one of her favorites and this should mean something as she was a professional chef in former days.

Wow what a great find in Athens! First, the ambiance. It is nice and airy and so beautiful. Next the staff. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The food was delicious. The cheese was amazing! The squid cooked to perfection and the hummus and dolmas were incredible too. The veggies with peanut butter were so good too and great way to sneak in veggies. A special thank you to Andreas, Zach and Harres for an incredible experience.

Restaurant
Savvas is a Greek kebab shop located in a beautiful mansion just steps from Monastiraki Square. The menu features delicious Turkish-inspired gyros with chips and cold Greek beer, as well as ouzos. If you're looking for a relaxing afternoon out with some delicious food, Savvas is your spot!
Savvas was recommended to us by locals as a go-to late night food spot, and wow — it absolutely delivered! We ordered the saganaki, chicken, and salad, and every dish was spot-on: flavorful, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The service was incredibly friendly and impressively fast, even with the late hour. They even packed up our leftovers without us having to ask, which was a thoughtful touch. Whether you’re craving a quick bite or a full meal after hours, this place is a gem. Highly recommend stopping by — we’ll definitely be back!

The food quality and taste are amazingly good, but the service is equally poor. During the three days I was there, I came twice, and both times when they brought the water, they didn't bring glasses. Or sometimes, they seemed to forget to bring the knife and fork. However, the food tastes so great that you end up forgetting about the poor service
Farzaneh — Google review
Nice place to have food in the center. We tried the Gyros and it was really good. We also order falafel with hummus and was okey, not the best that I ever tried but okey. Nothing to complain! The service was okey but the price maybe too high.
Franco G — Google review
Although is in a very busy and tourist point, service was quite fast. We were in a group of 6 ppl, had a table in the rooftop with a view to Acropolis. Food very taste , good portion and price.
Gisele L — Google review
The rooftop views are amazing, they don’t serve gyros at the roof level, they only serve them on the ground floor. The gyros were not up to our expectation, but the other main dishes looked really delicious. We’ll definitely visit again & order something other than gyros. For the gyros; the pita bread was really thick & the chicken quality was not the best, but the sauce was not bad 👍🏼 Enjoy the views, the main dishes & avoid the gyros 😅🙏🏼

We stopped here as part of a food tour, and this was quite mediocre to be honest. We ordered pork and chicken pita wraps, neither had much flavor in them. There are significantly better places in Athens.

Greek restaurant
Alexandra is a cozy, family-run restaurant near Syntagma Square in Athens, offering fresh and juicy souvlaki with generous portions. The bright contemporary setting provides a delightful dining experience. Visitors have praised the amazing service and well-priced traditional Greek food. The open feel of the restaurant allows guests to enjoy their meals while seeing outside. The menu includes Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist, including appetizers for two that are described as a meal on their own.
Great restaurant if you want to have dinner away from the tourist areas. The food was delicious, the service was great. Visited twice. We even ordered a dish that wasn't to our taste (nothing wrong with the food, we just misjudged) and the staff were very kind, and weren't charged for the dish. The salads were delicious and big, the halloumi was perfectly made and one dish is enough for two people. Would definitely visit again when in Athens!

A really nice restaurant that I have visited a couple of times. Staff is very friendly and accomodating and service is fast. The atmosphere is nice be it inside during winter or on the small backyard during summer. They have a varied menu with Greek tastes for meat, fish, vegetarians and they are all superb. Their home-made bread is something that stands out on its own. Prices are ok, do not expect something cheap but nothing overpriced as well, you pay for the quality.

We showed up on the night before they were closing for a 2 week holiday. We didn't have many choices but chose the greek salad, chicken schnitzel and mixed grill. It was so delicious! The service was so kind. When they found out it was my husband's birthday, the brought a candle and spice cake - so nice and delicious.

This was a great location from Hotel Zafolia, a quick 5min walk. A hotel staff member suggest on our first day in Athens. It has a very open feel and was nice to be able to see outside while enjoying dinner and drinks. We ordered the appetizers for two- which was a meal on its own. It had two of everything- Saganaki cheese (2), meat balls (2), pork chops (2), sausages (2), lots of fries, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and olives! I ordered the grilled bass which had great flavor and came with potatoes and boiled veggies. My husband ordered a chicken special that said came with some type of pasta however I think they misunderstood what he wanted and he got chicken kabob with a baked potato. The chicken had amazing flavor and was very tender and juicy. The potato had a bit to much sour cream on it. We were finished the waited brought us each a piece of orange cake. It was very moist with an interesting mouth feel and taste. The prices here are very reasonable and affordable. Overall, we would go again!

Street Souvlaki offers a grilled mushroom souvlaki that may not be the best, but when in Piraeus, you might not have many options. A visitor stumbled upon this place by chance and was warmly welcomed by the hostess Dora. The inviting atmosphere and tempting aroma led to a delightful dining experience with fresh, juicy, and delicious food. The fully staffed restaurant exudes warmth and friendliness, making it a must-visit spot for an amazing meal.
By far the best small restaurant in Athens, super cheap food, massive portions, and the food is to DIE FOR, I've traveled a lot around Europe but ive legitimately never eaten beef this good. And it's all made in the span of 10 minutes, at most. Service is super friendly, and the place has many people there all the time, not crowded though, 11/10, would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Hands down, the best street food in Athens! Everything was perfect. The chicken souvlaki was amazing. The traditional cheese "ΦΕΤΑ" on top of the potatoes created a wonderful harmony. Also, the traditional beer “ΑΛΦΑ” is truly delicious. This menu costs €16. Highly recommended! Thank you.

Chose this spot for my first Gyro in Pita in Greece and it didn’t disappoint. We were walking back to our Airbnb after a long walking tour and decided to grab a takeaway. The menu was surprisingly extensive, but everything was explained so clearly that ordering was a breeze. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes, packed perfectly with no spills. The first bite was divine, loved the contrast of fresh tomato and lettuce with the salty chips and juicy chicken. The pita itself was thick, soft and fluffy, just the way it should be. Definitely going back for more.

Just ordered two chicken giros at this place. I’m not one to complain or write negative reviews, and I realise not speaking Greek can lead to misunderstandings. The meat was not giros, but grilled chicken thigh. The waiter explained they did not do giros. I can live with this, but it was undercooked. The waiter said this was normal for chicken thighs. It did not seem safe to eat though. We said we couldn’t eat it, but did not get much of a response. So we walked. Not sure about what to make of this, I had the photos analysed by ChatGPT: “The chicken pieces in the photos appear: • Deep pink to almost raw inside • Glossy/glassy, which is typical of undercooked chicken • With a texture that looks like partially raw meat, not fully cooked thigh meat This is not the normal pink tint you sometimes get near the bone or from grilling. It looks undercooked and unsafe to eat.” The fries were good though!

Cannot stop thinking about the gyro I had here. Best one I had in my entire trip to Athens and it was so good I had to come back the next day. The staff were very kind, and they also have a set-up where you can buy a meal for an unhoused person. Also a gyro for 3.60€ ??? Unbeatable

Street Souvlaki serves some of the best gyros we’ve had — the chicken, pork, and kebab gyros were all juicy, flavorful, and wrapped with crispy fries and creamy tzatziki. The Greek fries with feta were addictive, and the Greek salad was fresh with a generous slab of feta. Fast service and a casual, authentic vibe make this place a must-try for classic Greek street food.

The service at Aristotle Piraeus, nicknamed Ini, is exceptional. The atmosphere is delightful with enjoyable background music and tasteful decor. The menu offers a wide variety of options and the Greek salad, picanha steak, and spaghetti carbonara are all delectable choices. It's a perfect dining experience. The establishment also provides complimentary digestive drinks which are greatly appreciated. Though the pandemic has limited the use of the exterior area, it remains in a prime location near the port and metro station.
We only had time for a quick lunch in Athens before catching a ferry to Santorini, and we got so lucky to randomly stumble across this restaurant. The food was amazing and the restaurant’s atmosphere is beautiful, but the best part was easily interacting with Mr. Nikos. He gave us great tips for our time in Greece, treated us really well, and was just overall very fun to talk to. I got the mushroom pasta and my friend got one of the salads and we LOVED the food.

Don’t go here. Tourist trap!! At first it was difficult to order even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. We had to ask them 2 times to get the menu and then to order. We got the Greek menu. My friend ordered a drink. the menu said 9,5 euros but the waiter told us it was 12 euros. Also no beer was available except from draught fisher 0,4 for 7 euros… The toilet is horrible, impossible to flush and impossible to lock the door… nice interior though, but it doesn’t help. The people on the table next to us told us to leave before we got our drinks because they payed 40 euros for 1 beer and 2 vodka redbull😂 and I’m adding the photo below because the owner says “fake reviews” about all the bad reviews lol

I was a customer but NO enymore! Last night I had the wores experience of all my time in Greece. I feel very sorry as Iam a Greek from Australia. I write this to inform others too. When I first arrived they told me to sit at the very back table, otherwise had to be charged more viewing the live band. As didn't have any other choice, i sat at the very end. The waiter came and didn't explain to me that the prices have increased from last year. I Ordered 300 grams of eye rib and a small mashed potato on the side, 1 gin and soda. Thats all! They charge me for a rib eye , 17 euro's per 100 grams, they even charged me extra for the mashed potato, for the first time. (In the previous years it was included in the price). I didn't know that! If i did i wouldn't have ordered!!! Went there for a night out to hear the live band. It turned out very very bad! The kitchen closed at twelve i was asked to pay $ 67.00 euro's. I paid. The live band usually starts around midnight. When i asked the owner the ridiculous amount i paid, ironically he said to me you know what you had to eat. I said to him it's overrated and he laughed it Off... I got up and left without seeing the live band. Wores night of all! I will never go there again! People be alert of prices and their roudness!!
Peter G — Google review
We reserved a table for 6 people in advance at 20:30 , due to information that the live music begins at 20:30. We came and realised that we were the only people there with no live music. We had full diner with drinks and waited for the live music to begin. When it began we have been asked to move to other small table . When we asked for some answers we’ve been told that the alcohol is going to be more expensive. Unbelievable.we asked for the check and left the place. We’ve been few times before at this place and never got such attitude. They will never see us again. So much other alternative places.
אדי א — Google review
Our time at Aristotle in Piraeus was phenomenal. We came without a reservation and they were so so warm and welcoming. We wanted to sit at the bar because we just wanted to drink and enjoy live music. So we got placed at the bar which was standing vs. sitting but that wasn’t a problem at all for us. The music was phenomenal and had tones of Arabic music. But the best part was our bartender, Aiantas. Aiantas took great care of us. When we arrived we asked for a menu and he told us we won’t need one. He then proceeded to make us some of the best drinks we’ve ever had based on our preference and only a few notes on what we liked. As great as the music was, his drinks were better. We decided to go back the next day and stand at the bar vs. sit. I would highly recommend as a late night spot to no drinks, music, and vibes. Keep in mind I live in Manhattan so I’m no stranger to good bartenders. But Aiantas was great!

Update: Just because of the insulting comment I was downgraded from 3 stars to 1 star. You have to learn to respect people. disappointment We booked a place for a couple because we knew there were singers, we took a taxi, paid 35 euros and in the end the owner of the place tells us that there is no show because the singer is sick. It's a shame we weren't informed beforehand, at least we wouldn't have paid 70 euros for round-trip taxis

Kalamakia O Elvis is a vibrant dining spot that pays homage to the King of Rock 'n' Roll, adorned with posters and a soundtrack featuring his hits like "Suspicious Minds." This restaurant is perfect for meat lovers, offering an array of delicious skewered options including tender chicken, flavorful pork souvlaki, and savory lamb. The atmosphere buzzes with energy as it attracts night owls looking for a late-night bite after enjoying the local nightlife.
We stopped by for a late-night snack after dinner, and it totally hit the spot! The grilled skewers were juicy, smoky, and full of flavor. I just learned that “kalamaki” is what people in southern Greece (like Athens) call meat skewers — up north, they say “souvlaki.” Either way, this place does it right. Quick, tasty, and perfect if you’re wandering around Athens at night.

Yummy skewers slow cooked on the grill right in front of you. Quick, cheap and fast eats. We ordered the pork, lamb and chicken. My favorite was the lamb, my wife’s favorite was the pork. Beer on draft. Can’t go wrong with meats on stick With French fries, bread and a cold draft beer. Tight interior quarters, counter table seating inside and out. Affordable street food in Athens!

Best souvlaki I’ve had in Greece! Juicy, fresh, and full of flavor. The service was fast and friendly, and the prices are very affordable. Highly recommend!

Came here late for a quick snack to go and the food was pretty good overall. Will come and sit down next time for a full and better review.
VoudouLounge — Google review
Sadly they pfe cook their skewers, if I go to it to a souvlaki only restaurant I would perfer to have it made fresh... Not into steps cooked so it's faster. Also the portion of fries I ordered extra was supper small compared to my three skewer... And then they also forgot to give my Tzatziki.
Alexander — Google review
We really enjoyed our meal here and had the chicken and pork souvlaki. The meat was cooked fresh over a charcoal grill, and you could taste the difference that this made compared to a gas grill. The portions were very reasonable for the price. It was around 2.5 euros per skewer, which also included fries and some bread, and we'd recommend around 2-3 skewers per person. The Elvis theme of the restaurant was also very cool. Overall, this restaurant has a prime location in Monastiraki/Psyri, which cannot be beat for the price and quality of the food!
Allen Z — Google review
I had the Chicken Skewers, I guess they were called Kalamakia and it was juicy and tasty. Fries and 2 slices of bread was served with a single skewer for just 2.50 euros. I love the street foods in Athens ❤️
Uday J — Google review
Very juicy, yummy souvlaki. We went here starving at 1AM straight from the airport and we left the place full and satisfied. Could not believe that we only spent 12euros for a delicious dinner for two! I am coming back to Athens in April 2025 and will definitely go back in this little gem. Update: I came back here 1May25 and the kalamaki is still delicious as always.

I studied abroad for a semester living only a few minutes from Piggy’s and it was the best place to get gyros for that time. Inexpensive, fast, and the best tasting gyros around. Absolutely recommend.

Small little family-run place with the best food. Bu far the best gyros we had while in Greece! Super tender meats, with fresh breads and a light sauce. We came back again for takeaway on our last night. Cheaper and tastier than many of the other fancier places we tried.

This place is so good. Get any of their pitas and you can’t go wrong. Also great price - 3.70 euro.

We got here after our 18 hour travel day and it was the first place we stopped! We wanted to get a gyro, but i believe because of the time of the night it wasn’t available. We got a pork and chicken skewer wrapped in pita bread! I’m not sure the difference between that and a gyro but OH MY it was delicious!!! It was the first thing we’ve eaten in 14 hours and it was the best in the world!! So grateful to have this be our first Greek restaurant! The owner and staff are very friendly aswell! Would definitely go back and definitely recommend

Kalamakeri is a cozy and welcoming restaurant located just a short walk from the Intercontinental hotel in Greece. The prices are affordable, and the food is described as excellent and authentic Greek cuisine. Customers have enjoyed dishes such as lamb kebabs, halloumi cheese with tomato and pesto, spicy cheese spread, and Greek salad with a generous serving of feta. The atmosphere is casual, and English menus are available for convenience.
3 times in 5 days, maybe we’ll come again tomorrow! Best authentic Greek food we tasted so far! The Chalumi grilled is perfect!! All meats are so wonderful, in these 3 times, we ordered almost everything in the menu. The owner is so friendly, the staff are so nice and the atmosphere is so so great.

Good neighborhood eatery, simple menu of authentic home-style food. Ingredients are very fresh, flavors are authentic. The pork chops were cooked to perfection.

Had a great dinner this evening. The staff was fantastic. My Greek is nothing to speak of, but their English was exceptional. Very good Greek salad - beautiful tomatoes, red onion and cucumber - a very generous portion a fete cheese seasoned with Greek oregano with ample pita bread. Hamburger patty was cooked perfectly, I was embarrassed that I could not eat all of it. Had Coke zero and a good offering of Greek beer. Just a short distance from the Grand Hyatt and a far better dinner than we could’ve gotten at the hotel. Very reasonably priced dinner. Feels great supporting a local Greek restaurant. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a fantastic dinner at this spot as a family of three. We tried all three of the souvlaki meats, roasted chicken (not pictured), Greek salad & pita. It was so much food for such a great price. Wish we had found this spot sooner during our stay in Athens. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Very nice authentic place. Very tasty Greek salad. Tzatziki the must! Very good lamb kebab. Pork also good. But need additional vegetables otherwise very tasty but to dry. Home made lemonade- just great. Super nice service - did nice birthday surprise for our daughter on her 12 birthday! Thank you for this.

Very tasty restaurant in a cute little Greek house, go as a group so you can try many dishes! The cheese topped with honey 🧀🍯 was a great appetizer while we waited for the meats. We ordered all the different skewers including chicken, pork and sheep. The pork was my favorite for the skewers. Lamb kebabs were my favorite dish overall! So good that didn’t even need the tatziki (which btw was delicious too). The fries were also cooked to perfection. Walking distance from the Grand Hyatt in Athens so if you’re staying near there definitely check it out.

Kafteros is a long-standing family-run eatery located in the Kato Halandri area of Athens. Since 1970, it has been known for its spicy sauce recipe and simple, no-frills atmosphere. The menu features skewered pork, chicken, and kebab, with the latter being a standout item. Despite its unassuming nature, the place boasts a loyal clientele that appreciates its quality offerings. The traditional souvlaki with a spicy twist is particularly popular among patrons.
A blast from the past. We were early (19:30) and we were lucky as the crowds arrived hungry!. We ordered everything and we promised to return! A recommendation!
George S — Google review
Really good food, really good meat, very simple, no frills place, with great low prices, and a very hot signature sauce. Been there for many many years, and the stable clientele shows it's quality. Don't expect nothing fancy, the waiter will bring you your food, but you order at the cashier. Enjoy the spicy twist to the typical Greek souvlaki.
Marina Z — Google review
I love the authenticity of this place and their unique sauce. Although I question the hygiene a bit but the taste is priceless. Unfortunately some days are quite full and they don’t deliver if it’s not close by.
Filiz A — Google review
If there’s one souvlaki place that’s stayed with me over the years. Tucked away on a quiet side street, it doesn’t look like much — until you see the line outside every evening. Everything is grilled to order, no shortcuts. But the real magic is in the red sauce. Spicy, addictive, and completely unique. I have no idea what’s in it, but I can’t get enough. For me, this is hands down as one the best souvlaki in Athens. I also love it because the place feels like it’s locked in another time — like nothing has changed in 20 years. It’s not just the food, it’s the whole atmosphere. A taste of old Athens, still alive.
Nassos L — Google review
Don’t need much to add in the already written! The place reminds us why souvlaki is so popular as street food in Greece!Tastes that brings us memories from souvlaki that we grew up(I’m 48 by the way:)..and the service?Very polite!Go for it!
Panagiotis K — Google review
One of the best souvlakia in Athens, their spicy kebab and kafteros sauce is really tasty and interesting. A bit packed with people but found seating as a walk in.
E. P — Google review
Honestly, nothing special. I know that it's one of the old school spots in the area, but visiting it in 2023, I cannot see the thrill. His sauce is good, extra spicy, so if you enjoy that definitely go for it. Other than that, the quality of chicken and pork meat in the pita was okeish - mediocre. The place is always crowded inside so be prepared to wait. A wiser decision would be the take away option.

Greek restaurant
Dopios is a laid-back Greek kitchen located in central Athens, launched by the Pitsilis family and renowned chef Chistoforos Peskias. The restaurant offers traditional souvlaki, steaks, and seafood plates in a modern meze eatery setting with a spacious terrace at picturesque Agion Theodoron square. The interior features carefully designed marble tables, straw-seat chairs, colorful rugs, and an elaborate mosaic image on the wall.
Fresh fresh fresh food. Nicely situated facing a church, the service is friendly and prompt. Have olive oil tasters as well. I’d go back in heart beat. Excellent outdoor seating makes you feel like part of the heart beat of Athens as Athenians walk by doing their quotidian activities.
Dany G — Google review
We were recommended Dopios and it didn’t disappoint. Tucked away on a lively street near a beautiful old church, the setting alone makes it worth the visit—but it’s the experience that truly stands out. We ordered the olive oil tasting platter, a vibrant Greek salad, and their perfectly braised octopus—all full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were welcoming, quick, and genuinely friendly, adding warmth to the evening from the moment we arrived. We sat outdoors, surrounded by a relaxed crowd and gentle music that added to the atmosphere. The indoor area looked equally inviting, but the patio seating offered a front-row seat to the local buzz of the area. Prices were more than fair for the quality, and the overall vibe was just right—family-friendly, tourist-friendly, and full of character. It was one of those dinners where everything just felt easy and enjoyable. Would we go back? Definitely. It’s a great spot to unwind, try interesting Greek dishes, and soak in Athens at its best. Highly recommended for couples, families, tourists, and food lovers. Michel

We had an amazing dinner here. Plates are small and designed to share. The server recommended 2-3 plates per person. Everything was delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. He said outside and enjoyed a wonderful evening.
Bryan S — Google review
We arrived about 20-25min before our reservation time and were kindly greeted by Theodore, who told us we could sit outside by the church and order drinks while we waited for our table. Although it was a Monday night, it was busy and we overheard them telling people without a reservation that it would take about an hour to get a table, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time (keep in mind they do call you a couple of hours before to confirm that you're coming). Very nice atmosphere and vibe. It's a sharing concept so the portions are on the smaller side and you order multiple dishes. We were 2 people and ordered 5 dishes (none of which were from the "Big Plates" section of the menu). That was more than enough and we didn't even have room for dessert. The staff was kind and friendly, though the service was a bit slow at times. No big deal, very good overall. The food was good, well made and fresh. We had somewhat high expectations as we came after friends praised their fusion style dishes. I can't say we were impressed, but definitely not disappointed either. We very much enjoyed our evening and would go again, perhaps to the Glyfada unit. (For what it's worth, the person sitting next to us had gone to their Glyfada restaurant twice and was now trying this one). At the end, we were treated with a Mastika digestive shot, which was a nice touch and and a great way to end our evening.
Gustavo P — Google review
Despite having visited Athens many times—three times in the last four months alone, not to mention my other travels around Greece—I have to say that dining at Dopios was a genuine revelation. The restaurant was highly recommended by an event organizer, and we had the pleasure of dining here with our entire group. It turned out to be a huge culinary discovery! I got to try dishes I'd never encountered before, even during my other trips, and I appreciated them so much. Our host called it one of the best restaurants in Athens, and I totally agree. The quality is excellent from start to finish: the appetizers were exquisite, prepared with great care. Both the meat and fish dishes we tried were exceptional and cooked to perfection. The wine selection was also top-notch and paired beautifully with the food. Dopios offers an authentic yet refined gastronomic experience. Absolutely fantastic! This place definitely deserves a visit, even if you think you already know Greek cuisine well.
Ciro B — Google review
Cozy restaurant in the heart of Athens with friendly and attentive service. Delicious food — especially the octopus, calamari, and dessert balls. Orzo was a bit plain but had a nice sea flavor. Highly recommend!
Liliya M — Google review
This place was fantastic. The cheese croquettes were excellent as was the chickpea stew. Great hummus and bread and lots of other good dips. The standout for me was a green bean mint and feta salad with a salty lemon dressing. I already want more and I’m still full from dinner.
Kyle M — Google review
Outstanding meal. We’re from California (San Francisco) and live part time in Istanbul. We came over for the week to Athens. We visited Dopios Athens on our last day in the city and stopped in for a late lunch. We had their humus, bread, keftedakia, Sea Bass and desserts. The humus and bread were excellent. The keftedakia (meat balls) were a variation of what we have in Istanbul and were great. The Sea Bass was amazing! It had a very very delicate layer of bread crumb (maybe panko) and had a layer of glasswort (a type of seagrass/seaweed) and along side there was an incredible Kalamata olive cream which went perfectly with the fish. We cook a lot and I wish I had asked for their recipe. It is one of the best entrees we’ve had in a long time. We had two desserts. The Galatopita (milk “pie” with tres leches, and the Mpougatsa (crispy pastry balls filled with cream). Both were outstanding. The service provided by “Mike” was outstanding. He listened well, made great suggestions and stopped by the table several times to check-in with us to make sure everything was as we liked it. Overall Dopios Athens could easily hold its own in any big city like San Francisco and New York. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent food, service and a delightful location.

Souvlaki is a popular Greek dish that can be found in traditional tavernas, fine dining establishments, and street food shops. It's often served with generous portions of meat and accompanied by tasty tzatziki. Some places offer quick service with reasonable prices, making it a great option for a quick and delicious bite that won't break the bank. The dish is often praised for its fresh ingredients and clean cooking methods.
I recently enjoyed some delicious souvlaki from a popular street vendor. The flavors were fantastic, and the price was quite reasonable considering the quality. The place was bustling with lots of people, which added to the lively atmosphere. There’s also a bit of seating available right on the street, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the food while people-watching. Overall, it was a great experience!

Wonderful chicken gyros with crunchy delicious seasoned fries. The place looks like a tourist trap but it definitely is NOT. The service is fast and the food is really delicious. The staff are nice and helpful even though the place was steaming from the hot weather which will make anyone grumpy.

There was a long line, but it went quickly. The cashier had what appeared to be a meltdown and walked away from the cash register, which slowed everything down. But once we got the food, it was surprisingly good, but the chicken was a little dry. Definitely good value for the cost, however

This location is right around the corner from the Acropolis museum on the walkway strip. The food here is consistently delicious full of flavour and the portions are just right. They have been serving the public for many years and know exactly how to marinate and serve their food properly. We landed in Greece, came right to our hotel and checked in. As we were out exploring we spotted Gyros Pou Gyrevis. There was a large crowd, so we decided to try it. We followed the protocol, placed and paid for our food. While that was being done one of the group was able to get a table (we were lucky!). The gyros and salad were fantastic! Just like we remembered them from the last time we were in Greece. The service was good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Under €4 euros for a gyro when places on the street next door charge you €18. Can’t beat that quick, filling and tasted good. Perfect for a quick pit stop to refuel. Especially before or after an acropolis visit.

We bought two pita gyro (one chicken and one pork) at 2pm. There was a resonable long queue at the cashier so I waited outside for a table to be free while my partner ordered the food. We were lucky to get a table but many customers had to either eat their food standing or go another place. It costed 3.8€ for a pita gyro. It's cheap but you don't get much food and we were still hungry afterwards. In addition, it didn't taste that good as expected. We had tried better ones before.

One of my favourite ever and original kebap shops in my hometown of Nikaia,Greece. Unfortunately the later generations think too highly of themselves and are often non-customer friendly, not to mention the increase in minimum order to 20 euros. Would be a great shame to see such a great and historical shop close down due to the ego of the new generations.

We are talking here about a business which is 50 ! years present in the market. Quality meets the highest standards I have ever seen in a Souvlaki-Shop. Souvlaki is of pure meat only (no fat at all !!!) Nothing is pre-grilled and kept warm. Your souvlaki gets grilled on order. French Fries are real potatoes !!! not frozen ones !!! Tzatziki is sold separately in a little box and not put inside the souvlaki to avoid the "pita" of soaking. Maintanos (Parsley) in all dishes, as it used to be in old times. Portions maybe small...but with this kind of superb quality...you should not care about that.

The grill at this place keeps burning every weekday, offering an ultimate Athens souvlaki experience with its excellent choice of meat and handmade potato chips. Visitors have praised the warm atmosphere and genuine hospitality of the staff, as well as the affordable prices for top-quality souvlaki.
Delicious gyros made in an open kitchen ! Good price, very tasty and nice staff, highly recommended. This restaurant is in a very cool street in Exárcheia area. You can find lots of coffees and restaurants with cozy terraces under the trees.

We waited quite a lot and it was hot so that takes away from the experience but otherwise the kebab we ate was great, the pita was really soft and well seasoned and it had a lot of fresh vegetables, in our opinion it could have used some more meat but for 5€ it was more than we asked for. A lot of local people seem to enjoy their food too so there were constant orders flying in. The staff was friendly and they spoke enough English to handle orders.

We had such a great experience at Giorgios Manos! The pita was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and not expensive at all. The staff was very kind and welcoming, and the atmosphere of the place made it a really enjoyable stop. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Great food and service. Very nice people. Right across from the Acropolis museum. Last restaurant on the street. Terrace and to go.
Paul P — Google review
Avoid this place at all costs. Souvlaki had two slices of tomato, a little bit of lettuce and about three chips. Pita was awful.
Luciana C — Google review
Very unfriendly staff at the counter I never come back to this place, customer service is very bad, the Greek salad wasn’t fresh.
