Back Beach, also known as Bai Sau, is a popular destination in Vung Tau known for its stunning landscape and clear blue waters. It offers a cleaner and more serene environment compared to the city's front beach, attracting both tourists and locals for swimming and relaxation. With its three-kilometer-long crescent of golden sand, shallow waters, and gentle waves suitable for all ages, visitors can enjoy various water activities or simply unwind on the shore.
Very much a local's family beach that comes alive late in the afternoons to stand around in the shallow water. Much beachside construction of modern design huge honeycomb type shelters. Also major winding pathway & roadway sidewalk paving.
Laird ( — Google review
About 2km of frontage under construction currently west end is clear and usable...dangerous rip currents here so going beyond waist deep is not recommended at this date and time

Vung Tau Back Beach – Tranquil Waves and Local Charm Located on the southeastern coast of Vietnam, Back Beach (Bãi Sau) in Vũng Tàu is a long stretch of golden sand that offers a refreshing, laid-back alternative to the country’s busier beach destinations. Known for its wide shoreline, gentle waves, and breezy atmosphere, Back Beach is the preferred spot for locals and returning visitors who appreciate its relaxed rhythm and everyday authenticity. The beach stretches for several kilometers along Thùy Vân Street, where you’ll find a mix of hotels, seafood restaurants, small cafés, and local markets. The vibe here is less about luxury and more about comfort, routine, and the simple joy of sand and sea. Mornings and late afternoons are especially vibrant, with families picnicking, children playing in the surf, and older locals practicing tai chi or flying kites. The sea is generally warm and inviting, with moderate waves ideal for swimming or light bodyboarding. Lifeguards are often present in more popular areas, and umbrellas and loungers are available for rent. While the midday sun can be intense, it’s the cooler hours—especially during sunset—when the beach comes alive with color and community. For photographers, Back Beach offers lovely natural light, sweeping coastal views, and a chance to capture real, everyday moments in a seaside town. For travelers, it’s a place to slow down, enjoy fresh seafood, sip Vietnamese iced coffee under a parasol, or stroll barefoot along the tide. While not a polished tourist hotspot, Vũng Tàu’s Back Beach has its own charm—genuine, friendly, and connected to local life. It’s a perfect destination for those seeking a peaceful coastal escape just a few hours from Ho Chi Minh City.
Paul P — Google review
Currently under massive construction. There are no restaurants or food, only a few vendors selling snacks and drinks. At the entrance are water closets and showers. The beach is very walkable, extending 2 kms to the right and several kms to the left. The waves are not large but there is a tremendous amount of garbage on the beach, especially at the high water mark. No efforts are made to clean the beach however after the construction is done next year I'm sure they'll send out cleanup crews. Sadly, there are also numerous tarballs on the beach from the oil rigs off the coast.
Arkk S — Google review
The sea view is acceptable, and it is the closest beach to Ho Chi Minh City. Both times I visited this place were for team-building activities. Next time, I should come here purely for sightseeing.

Spectacular views with a vibrant community! Definitely recommend it to anyone..

Had a wonder day trip to Vung Tau. Hope the beach (under construction and full of rubbish now) is open soon! This place is just a short trip from Ho Chi Minh City, is a lovely coastal escape! Our family really enjoyed the relaxed vibe. The beaches, especially Back Beach is well loved by locals, seems great for swimming and building sandcastles (but might not appeal to tourist) with gentle waves for the kids. We loved exploring the Christ the King statue, try climbing up for incredible views – quite a workout, but worth it! There are also plenty of delicious seafood spots. It's a wonderful blend of beach relaxation and interesting sights for everyone.

Long Hai Beach, also known as Phuoc Hai Beach, is a serene coastal destination located near Vung Tau city in Vietnam. It offers a peaceful retreat with its wide sandy shores, clear waters, and stunning sunset views. The beach is dotted with small rocks and surrounded by whispering poplar trees, creating a picturesque setting for swimming and leisurely strolls. Visitors can also explore the rustic fishing villages nearby and indulge in various seafood offerings from local vendors.
Long Hai beach is the ideal oriented beach to the summer Monsoon winds. Between the months of June and mid September, winds come from W-NW direction. Long Hai beach it is shallow, very broad and quite long. Only during weekends the beach gets crowded, while during the week it is mostly to yourself

Basically a locals only beach! Not a lot of foreign travelers here yet. Last time I came was 8 years ago and it was packed, this time basically empty. Can't say which I like more, the peace and quiet (you tune out the seafood sellers....which is part of the atmosphere) of an empty beach or the busy hussle of a booming beach with locals partying down drinking beer. It was a Wednesday so maybe it was just middle of the week lull. Either way I enjoy both busy parties or slow and relaxing so maybe time your visit for weekend or week day depending on your style. There was a small fish in season and fisher man were busy bringing their fish to the beach front "market". There was a tractor that hauls their little bathtub boats in and off the beach which was cool to watch. Shared a beer with one of the fisherman who was bringing his catch in. My kids loved it the sand, warm water and all the other kids to play with. The waves here are a LOT smaller than Vung Tau so great for kids and wind hits the beach at an angle and the current moves likewise. The selling gig (seafood, cabanas etc.) when you get there is a bit much but that's just part of the deal. Forieners by moped use paid parking for 10k per moped all day and don't lose your valet ticket, safe here. Feel free too BYOB, cups, snacks etc it will save you some serious money which you can use in the local seafood the ladies sell. I do miss that they used to cook right in front of you....I paid a lady to grill some of my one sun squid and I'm pretty sure she ate some...at least she enjoyed it! Weekday price was 400k for 8 chairs 4 tables and whole "tent".

Normal beach with white soft sand. There were vendors offering sea food and drinks. The water was warm and quite clean, but in the sand was trash. There is also a shower area for 15k VND.
Sommy — Google review
It is more beautiful to more you reach the end of the beach in the corner southbound. There is a buddhist monastery there and once you passed that the beach gets more quiet and beautiful but that’s 1,5 km away. At the common beach area of the pictures it’s usually busy with visitors including people selling ice cream. Recommend to come to the beach at low tide!! High tide unrecommended.
Michael B — Google review
If you go to Long Hai Beach and spot this restaurant... Don’t just walk—RUN! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️💨 We ordered seafood and the owner instructed us grab a seat. Later, they billed us 100K/chair. Who in the world pays for a chair just to sit and eat at their own establishment? The fact that they did not let us know ahead of time that we were going to be charged for the chairs was very misleading and dishonest. Though seafood was overpriced, but the worst part was the attitude we received.

Nice beach away from the touristy area! Lots of food options in Long Hai.

Public beach
Đồi Nhái beach in Vung Tau, Vietnam is one of the well-known beaches in the area, alongside Pineapple (Dua) beach, Vong Nguyet beach, Front beach (Bai Truoc), and Back beach (Bai Sau). The appearance of the beach varies depending on whether it's low or high tide. Unfortunately, there are issues with plastic waste and litter that the local municipality has not addressed.
An excellent open beach. Safe swimming. Good for kites.
Paul R — Google review
ChatGPT said: Doi Nhai Beach, located in the northern part of Vung Tau, is a quieter and more rustic alternative to the city’s busier stretches of coastline. Far from the tourist crowds, it offers a more authentic and laid-back atmosphere, making it a favorite among locals who come here to relax, fish, or enjoy a simple picnic by the sea. The beach is wide and sandy, bordered by shallow waters that stretch far out during low tide, revealing tidal flats dotted with small fishing boats. This creates a peaceful, open landscape where the horizon seems endless. In the early morning, the scene is particularly charming, with fishermen casting their nets and the soft light reflecting off the gentle waves. Unlike the more developed Front and Back Beaches, Doi Nhai retains a raw, natural feel. There are fewer amenities, which adds to its appeal for those seeking a slower pace and a genuine connection with the local way of life. Small seafood stalls and family-run eateries nearby serve freshly caught fish and shellfish, often grilled to order and best enjoyed with a sea breeze. Evenings at Doi Nhai are tranquil, with the sounds of the ocean and the sight of distant lights shimmering across the water. It’s not a beach for luxury or high-energy entertainment, but rather for moments of quiet beauty, cultural authenticity, and a reminder of Vung Tau’s fishing heritage.
Paul P — Google review
The road to the beach is really raidy and dirty. The bay is really beautiful, but unfortunately the beach is often full of waste coming from the sea. However, the area is quiet and perfect for Kite Surfing
Michele L — Google review
It is pretty good if your’re using the fish catching to experience, the ocean water is a bit dirty, but the worst thing here is if you sleep here at night. Mosquitoes will come out and bite you till they die

great spot! very beautiful
Richard T — Google review
The beach can look quite different if during low or high tide. I must admit that the sea brings plastics, bottles and different stuff and unfortunately the municipality don't care about it. Some people spend the night mostly at weekends under a camping tent. Also some kitesurfers visit the spot.
Kitesurfing V — Google review
If you want to catch sea creatures and play on a very large beach low tide then this is your place. Time it so you’re there an hour before the tide is the lowest. Then have fun. It’s great for kids of all age.

Bai Dau is a narrow sandy beach located below the highway, surrounded by several churches and a Buddhist temple. Visitors can enjoy relaxing on its golden sands, swimming in the sea, or trying out water sports like jet skiing and parasailing. The area offers diverse experiences for all types of travelers, from historical landmarks to culinary delights and natural beauty. It's a beautiful place to take a break and enjoy the peaceful sunset.
Nice quiet beach that looks like good for bathing.
Ak — Google review
Unlike other beaches in Vung Tau, Strawberry Beach, also known as Bai Dau, is situated in a tranquil area where several renowned checkpoints and worship places, including the Mother Mary and the Child Jesus statue and Bodhisattva pagoda, are located. Consequently, Strawberry Beach is an ideal destination for individuals seeking solitude and tranquility, as well as photography enthusiasts who desire to capture serene but breathtaking images. Given that this location does not draw tourists for swimming due to its rocky cliffs and uneven seabed, visitors can enjoy the sunrise and sunset in a fresh air atmosphere without being disturbed by the surrounding environment.

Bãi Dứa is a beach in Vung Tau that offers a great view and is less crowded on regular days but gets busier during weekends and holidays. It's conveniently located, just a short distance from the city center. While it has some rocky areas, there are still good spots for swimming, making it a peaceful option compared to other beaches in the area. However, there have been concerns about the amount of trash present at the beach.
It's got a great view! I love the waves in the afternoon, not crowded in daily but more crowded in the weekend and holidays. It's take 6 minutes from book street and 10 minutes from centre. Hope you enjoy your holiday when visit VungTau and enjoy the atmosphere of BaiDua beach...💦💦💦💦💦💙💙💙💙💙

It's beach!! It's completely local beach. There are no restaurant, but there are some shops on the street and beach. You can buy some fish, shrimp or Oc and ask them to cook on the beach. The price is not expensive. Also you can get beer near beach. So seafood and beer on the beach!! This is the happiest time in this world!! I went there around 2pm, then many people were in the ocean already but more people were coming after that. Water here is not clear but it's acceptable to swim. A bit the wave were big.

(Translated by Google) This is the first time I have come to Phuoc Hai, as well as Loc An Beach. Just follow Google Maps and you will reach the right place. - This beach is still very wild, with few tourists, and the sea breeze is very cool. The left and right sides of the beach have been blocked by military checkpoints (there are signs prohibiting filming and taking pictures in this area). - Around the beach, there are many beautiful sea morning glory flowers. - From Loc An Beach, we can see Loc An Embankment in the distance. It gives us a wonderful feeling. - There are not many shops here. When I went, I only saw one girl selling ice cream. So if you want to come here, remember to bring food and drinks. And remember to bring a trash bag to put the trash in the right place because I did not see any trash cans in this area. - There is also trash here that may have been left by visitors and players. - Everyone should come here to experience it when they have the opportunity to visit Phuoc Hai. Note: Do not litter so we can still have great experiences at this beach. - Từ bãi tắm Lộc An chúng ta có thể nhìn thấy Bờ kè Lộc An xa xa.

Next to it was a pine garden. Above was the setting sun, below the blue sea, there were more trees. The view was beautiful. I picked up a basket of shells, a small starfish. No one was selling anything in the area. To take a fresh water bath, go to the beginning of the alley. There was a rocky shore but I didn't go up there because I had been walking around the beach catching snails until after 6pm. After going back, I always remembered the afternoon sea view. Front Beach in Vung Tau is a lively and bustling area with a compact stretch of sandy shoreline, boats dotting the waters, and a popular adjacent park and boardwalk. It offers a mix of natural beauty with mountains and rivers, as well as the activity of fishing boats docking after their day's work. The park area along the beach features shady rows of coconut trees where visitors can relax, connect with nature, and enjoy the refreshing sea breeze.
This is not a great beach because this area is a parking area for local fisherman ships, but it’s still a great spot to take a walk and chill.

Unique place in Vung Tau on the water. Beach is very nice but super small as far as beach going. However, would recommend to stop by and enjoy it as waters are calm and there is large swimming area to enjoy. Beach is connected with a park with lots benches , pretty close to food establishments, and there are showers available as well. Very nice place which gets busy in the afternoons with locals enjoying it and the water.

Front Beach is one of my favourite spots on Vung Tau Island. The French had a more romantic name for this idyllic small beach, Coconut Bay. Early mornings are special. Take your camera. The small fishing boats have returned from the night's fishing, and you will see the wives and family helping load the night's catch onto motorcycles, to rush them to the morning fish markets. Take plenty of photos, but do not get in the way. Evenings on the beach are more relaxed and Front Beach becomes the typical tropical beach. Fishermen slowly prepare for another night at sea. Once the sun has set, and most people have left, you might be lucky enough to watch the owl couple hunt on the waterline.

Nice area with a quaint beach and green, clean park. Front Beach was significantly cleaner than Back Beach when I visited on February 10, 2024. If you also want to get away from the worst of the wind and waves, Front Beach sits back enough in a cove to not be nearly as affected as Back Beach is in those conditions. Very small sandy area at high tide but still several families out and enjoying it. The park around Front Beach is beautiful, spacious, and perfect for picnics.
Anna R — Google review
nothing much to do except sit there and look at the water, when i went it sea looked dirty and there is no sand, only rock. only some tree 🌳 and the ledge to sit. i see many people there at night but at night it is also so dark that i cant see anything 😁 if you want beach go south to valley beach, its good 🏖️

Côn Đảo is the largest archipelago island in Vietnam, known for its history as a former prison and its beautiful beaches. Visitors can reach the island via ferries or domestic flights. The local cuisine features Vu Nang snails, often enjoyed with hospitable fishermen who serve them fried with rice. Many tourists recommend trying dishes made from snails to fully experience the unique flavors of Côn Đảo.
One of the most beautiful places I've seen, the water is so clean and in general the place is so peaceful and quite, the roads are just great. Con Dao it's great if you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful place, almost no people in te beaches Wich in general are very clean. Also you can enjoy some trekking and some water sports. Not many restaurants though but the few are very good, also we got the chance to appreciate some friendly monkeys and black squerls ❤️

We stayed here for 1 month and loved it. There are no big chain shops, but there is good infrastructure and the roads are very quiet at all times. Monkeys are easily seen along the road sides. Sadly, local government seems disinterested to clean up the trash found at ALL beauty spots and beaches. A lot of trash is washed in from the sea, a lot with Chinese or Korean wrappings. However, more is dropped by locals and people who don't care. There is 1 group that cleans a beach each Sunday morning. They have much work cut out for them. Most visitors are Vietnamese who come to lay gifts on the grave of Vo Thi Sau and ask for good fortune. Big army presence. This is an up and coming tourist destination. Most people only visit for a day or 2. Good museum and the prison is open. But tickets at the museum.

This island is absolutely amazing. I stayed on the island for 5 days and loved every second of it. It’s amazing how not touristy this island is. I hope it stays that way for long time to come. The only reason I’m deducting a star is that there is so much trash on this island. Me and my boyfriend were trying to find some hidden beaches and when we got there we got so sad as the whole beach and path leading to there were covered with trash. I really hope that the people who live of this island get educated more about the side effects of doing this.
Eva M — Google review
Great getaway from the usual tourist paths . Roads are great and can safely circumnavigate most of the island via scooter in as much time as you’d like to take . Relaxed environment with lovely people . Negatives were that we found most beaches covered in garbage unfortunately and sandflies can cause some discomfort . Water itself is pristine and clear however . Con Dao has an interesting yet checkered history that some might find disturbing but it’s the realistic side fortunately preserved of how things were in the past . Would definitely visit again but for 1 week at a time would be enough for us . Still feels like a sleepy little interesting fishing village where tourism is trying to raise its head slowly . We loved it minus the litter !
Wocka — Google review
Still rather undeveloped, the accommodations are limited to few hotels and home stays. Restaurant service is under average. Great place for backpacks and the more adventure tourists. For the typical tourist the only decent place to stay is the resort which is very pricey. The beaches are still clean and not overcrowded but can be ranked as average, nothing exceptional about them. The diving and snorkeling is also very average. If you are expecting an exceptional experience you may be disappointed. If you just want a place to relax then it may suit your needs. The most disadvantage here as tourist destination is how to get here. The boat ride is too long (4hr from Vung Tau or 2.5hr from Soc Trang, both are inconvenient from Saigon). The plane ride is only by small prop airplanes which could be bumpy at times. The government also plays up the relics of the former prison as an attraction, but it only has limited effect, mostly for local Vietnamese. There is a superstition following cult believing in some dead prisoners. They gathered as crowds every night about midnight at the tombstone of a young girl believing she has power to grant fortunes to those who worship her. It’s quite a scene to watch.

Beautiful island and hopefully it’s not ready for mass tourism. Also the island has a sad past, but you can see in the museum and the historical places what exactly happened. So it’s not just a paradise, i mean it’s now, but it’s good to know about the history.

Con Dao Islands, also known as Con Dao National park, are an archipelago of 16 mostly uninhabited islets just off the southern coast of Vietnam, each of which offering expansive beaches shaded with evergreen trees. Great for savvy travellers looking to escape bustling city life, the main island also boasts miles of coastal roads, hiking trails and a wide range of outdoor activities. The main (and only inhabited) island, Con Son was once the site of French-run prisons for Vietnamese involved in the independence movement. Most of the derelict prisons are located in Con Son Town, where you can visit the prison cells, and infamous tiger cages. Many locals visit Con Son to pay their respects to revolutionaries such as Vo Thi Sau, the first women on the island to have been executed by the French.

Đình Thắng Tam is a historic temple in Vung Tau dedicated to local deities, including the Whale God, which fishermen traditionally worship for protection at sea. While it holds cultural and spiritual significance, I didn’t find it particularly impressive. The architecture is simple with some traditional carvings, and the temple serves as a venue for local festivals. It’s worth a quick visit if you’re nearby, but it may not stand out as a must-see attraction.

The Bath service was too crowd and no concept of get in line; they even spray the water everywhere, again, no employees around to warn them. And the biggest complain is WC. Nestled on a mountainside in Vung Tau, the Thich Ca Phat Dai Pagoda is a stunning Theravada Buddhist temple featuring ornate pagoda towers and a massive seated Buddha statue. As visitors ascend the hillside, they'll encounter various buildings and statues depicting significant moments in Buddha's life. The pagoda's main attractions are the 19-meter octagonal tower and the colossal Buddha statue resting on a lotus, visible from afar.
This temple is large and stunning, though somewhat tucked away behind Thích Ca Thiền Tự, making it a bit hidden. However, once you arrive, you’ll find it absolutely beautiful with plenty of great photo spots. While the main structure doesn’t appear massive, the courtyard is quite spacious, featuring natural rock formations that create unique and picturesque corners. If you have the chance, I highly recommend visiting—it’s truly a beautiful place!

But besides the statues, man the boulders/rocks were HUGE...The trees 🌳 also were many, many, many years old. Beautiful trees... it was worth the climb. The beach offers a quiet atmosphere despite its proximity to Ha Long Street and provides stunning sunset views. Visitors should be mindful of the water conditions, which can vary from calm to choppy with powerful waves during certain seasons.
Bãi Dứa or else, Pineapple beach, it is a small beach oriented to SW. In high tide there's practically no sand, while in low tide is the moment to go and have a swim. The beach is mostly clean but it must be considered if during winter or summer, and due to the wind direction, there will be relatively calm waters or choppy and windy -this in the summer months- and sometimes even some powerful waves The photos was taken during low tide and also from the arm of Christ statue

Pineapple Beach only appears at medium to low tides, but people swim here at all times. It is a quiet beach even though it is flanked by Ha Long Street. It is probably the best place for spectacular sunsets. There is a lifeguard on duty during the day. There are rubbish on the beach after heavy rains, but it is like all the other beaches in Vung Tau of the cleanest beaches in Vietnam.
Nico F — Google review
The beautifull beach! But there are many rocks so it is not suggested to swim.
Tường M — Google review
An okay beach with some rocks.

Best beach in Vung Tau. Nobody there. Very little rubbish.
Ruben M — Google review
Small beach. When the sea is high there is not much beach left, then you need to go into the sea from the rocks.

Admen L — Google review
Apart from the park simply being beautiful, there is something very peaceful and relaxing about the park. It is very popular with families for their kids to run around and explore, cute dogs zooming, sniffing and exploring, old people ambling along and of course the colourful little fishing boats bobbing up and down in the water.
Geoff H — Google review
Front Beach park is a peaceful and beautiful beach with many leisure activities around. Book street, coffee shops, restaurants, museum..you can walking along the sea side, swimming... You should come and try some drinks 🍸 and foods near the along the beach ⛱, seafood was delicious, drinks just okay sometimes but there was so many nice and romantic views. There was so crowded on holiday and weekend. We'll be back 💙💙💙🌿
Saigon R — Google review
Yeah, it was ok. Lotsa boats parked up. Several large container ships headed across the back. Yeah it was okm
Greg M — Google review
Formerly, i was swimming here but now i can't. The sea water is not good due to the city discharged waste water to the sea for many years. The road and the park are good but the sculptures are bad. Love the coconut trees. The fishers and fishing are so lovely. Should clear all the houses and the restaurants on the Front seaside to clean the Front Coast. The Back Beach made that so The Front Beach has to make that.

Monkey Temple is a serene and beautiful Buddhist temple nestled in a tranquil setting. The temple is home to many friendly monkeys, creating a unique and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy the stunning views of the ocean from the mountain behind the temple, offering a refreshing escape with cool, fresh air. It's recommended to visit during non-peak times to avoid crowds and fully appreciate the solemn ambiance. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to feed the monkeys while exploring this picturesque location.
This temple worships Buddha and Guanyin Bodhisattva. This place also has many wild monkeys but is not a monkey temple.

Thiền viện Trúc Lâm Chân Nguyên, or the "Monkey Temple," was such a fun and unique experience! The temple itself is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by mountains and lush greenery. It’s a great spot to relax, take in the scenery, and appreciate the spiritual vibe. But let’s talk about the monkeys—they’re everywhere! They’re super playful and not shy at all. It’s really fun to watch them climb around the temple grounds and interact with visitors. Just be careful with your bags or food because they can get a little mischievous. If you love nature, animals, and a bit of adventure mixed with culture, this is a must-visit. It’s not too crowded, and the atmosphere is so calming. I’d recommend going early in the morning to enjoy the cool air and peaceful surroundings
