Caru' cu Bere is a renowned Romanian restaurant known for its impressive architecture, featuring wood paneling, stained-glass windows, and a charming patio. It is considered one of Bucharest's oldest restaurants and boasts a stunning interior adorned with frescoes, stained glass, and vaulted ceilings. The establishment has historical significance as it was opened in the late 19th century by Nicolae Mircea after being inspired by Bavarian beer houses during his apprenticeship in Bucharest.
Visited for lunch on a weekday with no reservation. It was fairly crowded, but they quickly seated me in the front dining area. I went with the Gentleman's Dish with a side of mashed potatoes & lemonade. Maneesha was my server. He was wonderful & made sure i was well taken care of. Impeccable service! Food was delicious & served within 10 minutes. The roasted duck legs were tender & lightly seasoned. The braised cabbage was surprisingly flavourful with dill as a topping. I recommend sitting inside to get the most of the experience & take in the historic charm & elegant interiors. Reserve in advance to get balcony or mezzanine seating. It was a treat dining here. Definitely worth a visit while in Old Town Budapest.

I had lunch at Caru' cu Bere, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The place itself is magnificent - the architecture and interior design are stunning, with a unique historic charm that immediately sets the mood. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and full of authentic flavor. Everything we tried felt carefully crafted and generous, exactly what you hope for in a traditional Romanian restaurant. A special mention goes to the staff, who were very kind, attentive, and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Overall, Caru' cu Bere is a must-visit in Bucharest - a perfect blend of atmosphere, great food, and excellent service.

It’s a really beautiful place. Going in, the first thing you’ll see is the big church stained glass. It’s beautiful how it keeps the essence of a church but it’s better now that you can have fun. The food was great, dishes looks delicious and taste really good. Our waiter was really kind. And it’s wonderful to suddenly see a dance show. Applause! It’s a little bit expensive, but I think it’s worth it.
Antonio P — Google review
We were genuinely prepared for a tourist trap, and we were completely wrong—Caru' cu bere is a masterpiece and an absolute must-visit for anyone in Bucharest. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is sublime. The elegant Gothic interior design and ornate woodwork create a historical, almost cathedral-like feel. We were lucky enough to experience the unexpected live dance performance with traditional Romanian outfits, which was the perfect, authentic cultural touch to the evening. Booking is essential! We highly recommend requesting a table on the balcony view; there are only a few tables up there, giving you a quiet, almost VIP experience away from the main hall's bustle. The Food: We ordered the signature dish: Ciorbă de fasole cu afumătură în pită (Bean soup with smoked pork served in a giant bread bowl). It was phenomenal—hearty, authentic, and easily the best thing we could have ordered. Tip: I also tried the 0% Ursu Romanian beer, which is light and refreshing, similar to a shandy. Final Verdict: Do not skip this restaurant. It offers great food, a truly spectacular setting, and the potential for spontaneous live music and dancing. It’s an experience, not just a meal.
Dazneyland — Google review
The atmosphere in this place is amazing. Obviously you pay for the place and what you see. The music on the afternoon is great attach. And everything is beautiful inside. I did a reservation from their website and I recommended because on the afternoon they had a lot of people outside. The reservation was in "Beer cart - Bacchus Balcony" and they put me in the place you see in the pictures. From their virtual tour: https://www.carucubere.ro/en/contact/virtual-tour/ L0-means the main room (The classic’s and The Royal); L2-means the balcony (The Old Papa Ghita and Gambrinus balcony); C-1- means the Craftman’s wine cellar. The food was good but I wanted to be better for their price. Sausages great but small. The meat with the bone good but I believe it was needed to be little more juice. The starter was great and the ice cream. For sure I recommended for the experience and the music with the violins 😁

Thought this place would be a tourist trap, but absolutely worth the hype! The Skinless Sausage, the Trout and the Donuts were absolutely killer. The trout was the absolute best fish dish I’ve ever had, and we loved it so much that we went back the next day as the last meal before we departed Bucharest. Definitely worth the wait (highly recommend to make a reservation) and must visit!
Priyanka R — Google review
One of best decorated restaurants in the world, it’s impressive. They dance and play a show while you are seated, it’s a very special place and deserve a visit. However, the food is just ok. I ordered a big big big veal knuckle and it is just ok, a bit dry. The dessert pavlova is creamy and nice flavour.

Amazing historic restaurant Its a must seen if you go to Bucarest. Its near old town, they have like 4 people just in the reception. Inside there was a music band performing beautiful classic music. We ordered a few dishes to share. All of them were really good.

Romanian restaurant
Restaurant
Zexe is a renowned restaurant in Bucharest, offering a unique experience with its Romanian bohemian cuisine. It stands out for reviving aristocratic recipes that have faded over time. The menu features specialties like turkey jelly with quail eggs, pike roe, calf brain, and veal spinal marrow. Despite its elegant setting with white tablecloths and proper silverware, Zexe maintains a casual ambiance suitable for any occasion.
Zexe Zahana, perched gracefully on the linden tree-lined Aviatorilor Boulevard, is a gem that radiates old-world charm and unapologetic Romanian tradition. Housed in a beautifully restored villa, its opulent setup is evident from the moment you step inside. Pristine tablecloths and gleaming cutlery are laid out with a sense of ceremony, setting the stage for an experience that feels both luxurious and warmly familiar. The garden is an oasis, the bathrooms are spotless—clearly, no detail is left unattended. The inside of the restaurant, sprawling across two elegant floors, is reminiscent of Bucharest’s old nickname, “Little Paris,” a title it wore proudly before the communist regime decimated much of its grand architecture to make way for utilitarian buildings for the working class. At Zexe, that lost elegance is still alive—high ceilings, ornate moldings, and vintage chandeliers transport you back to a time when the city rivaled the Parisian charm. We arrived without a reservation, yet the hostess, efficient and genuinely welcoming, found us the best seat in the house: the balcony. Despite being only three people, she didn’t hesitate to set us up at a table for eight, which I deeply appreciated. It was the perfect vantage point to soak in the ambiance—spacious, airy, and surrounded by greenery. I’d reserve that spot again in a heartbeat. Our server, Cristina, deserves a special mention. Professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in our experience, she moved with a confidence that assured us we were in good hands. If you’re lucky enough to have her, trust that she’ll take care of you with grace and charm. The meal began with palincă—homemade and potent, with a clean, smooth finish that could rival the finest grappas. I’m not usually one to rave about house wines, but Zexe’s selection was stellar. A pale rosé whose name I regretfully forgot, and a white Aligoté that danced on the palate—both were exquisite and an absolute steal at around $44 per liter. Do yourself a favor and order the house wines; they have more than a handful to choose from, each one a testament to Romanian winemaking. Zexe’s menu is unflinchingly traditional, and that’s its greatest strength. No fusion confusion here—just bold Romanian flavors elevated by a female chef who understands that refinement doesn’t mean diluting heritage. We started with “ciorbă de potroace,” a sour soup brimming with the richness of farm-raised chicken—not the kind you find on supermarket shelves, but small, free-ranging birds happily scratching at the dirt in search of tasty morsels. You can taste the difference—a depth of flavor that only comes from true farm living, not assembly-line poultry. It’s hearty, soulful, and exactly what you’d hope for in a traditional Romanian soup. And then, the sarmale. Oh, the sarmale. Quite simply, the best I’ve ever had—an earthy blend of wild boar and other meats, wrapped tightly in cabbage leaves and simmered to perfection. We were three at the table, sharing everything, but this was the one dish we ordered twice. If you’ve never tried sarmale, this is where you should start. The goose-stuffed grape leaves were another hit—tender, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. At Cristina’s suggestion, we wrapped up with a lemony ice cream cake that was nothing short of divine—a light, zesty palate cleanser that left us refreshed and thoroughly satisfied. Zexe Zahana is a jewel in Bucharest’s culinary landscape. If you want to immerse yourself in Romanian tradition—elevated, refined, and proudly unyielding—this is where you go. Anywhere you sit is a win, but if you’re eyeing the balcony, you might want to check with me first—some things are too good to share.

We had an absolutely delightful experience at this establishment. The food was exceptional, each dish presented with such care and attention to detail. The service was also outstanding, with staff members always attentive and eager to assist. It was a pleasure to dine in such a welcoming and professional atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

The experience was fine overall. The food was decent and the service was okay, nothing particularly stood out but nothing was terrible either. It’s a solid option if you’re in the area, but not something I’d go out of my way for.

Excellent authentic Romanian Food, reportedly from Cookbooks from the 30's. Not fast food-ish like Caru Cu Bere and such. Fantastic French :) deserts.

Located in the historic center, Restaurant Hanu' lui Manuc offers classic Romanian dishes in a charming setting. The restaurant is housed in Manuc's Inn, a well-preserved 19th-century caravanserai with a rich history. Guests can enjoy traditional music and spacious courtyard dining while savoring authentic Romanian cuisine. The warm and welcoming service adds to the ambiance, making it a sought-after dining destination in the city.
Fantastic place! It’s huge, but the atmosphere throughout is great and there’s a really nice historic and traditional vibe. As soon as we arrived the staff were exceptional, being welcoming and friendly and taking the time to explain the different options on the extensive menu. Our table was large and spacious and all the cutlery, glasses etc clean. The sharing platter to start was great and plenty for two people. Presentation was great and each item was very tasty too. For the main, we opted for their signature lamb sharing dish and didn’t regret it. It was wheeled to the table on a trolley and prepared with drama! It was huge, plenty for two people and truly delicious with the meat falling apart perfectly. There’s also a great range of drinks including a large choice of reasonably priced wines. Drinks are brought quickly and getting refills is easy from the attentive staff. Overall it was a great meal and experience - I’ll be returning every time I’m in the city centre in the future.

Beautiful place and I went there without reservation. The food came fast and everything were amazing. I liked a lot the marmalade sauce of fuan Gra. It was amazing. Polenta it is not my thing so I don't eat it in any place. The rest was amazing. The 3 sausages with the potatoes could be cheaper because it was not something special. For sure I recommended it
Επαμεινώνδας Θ — Google review
We had a great time here while staying in Bucharest a couple of days. We wanted some authentic dishes and a cool atmosphere. We saw the decent ratings and gave it a try. Food was great as was the service and the atmosphere. We made reservations on line ahead of time and were seated in the wine cellar portion of the restaurant. There is the main (I suppose) dinning room upstairs and then this wine cellar portion below. We’re super glad we were down there! I’d suggest requesting it from the start. There is also a huge courtyard with seating and one of their bars … this place must be hopping on weekends in the warmer months. While we are not bilingual and our waiter spoke very little English, it still worked great. We liked him a lot and trusted his suggestions for us to have a coupe of their traditional desserts. One last thing - they had my all time favorite beers on tap that is only available in Eastern Europe as far as I’ve found. I love Kozel dark (brewed in the Czech Republic).

What a find! The reviews for this place were incredible, and now I see why. It’s got a truly authentic vibe—like you've stumbled into the heart of Bucharest. The restaurant was packed, and there was even live music, which made the atmosphere even better. Our server, Romeo, was fantastic. The service was so pleasant and the food came out surprisingly fast. We weren't sure what to expect when we saw the dishes, but the taste completely blew us away. Everything was so delicious! The meat was incredibly tender and juicy, the potatoes were amazing, and the pickles and cabbage were perfectly crisp and salty. The pita was also very tasty. The extra BBQ sauce we ordered was the perfect finishing touch. The beer was cold and delicious, which was a huge plus. We had a great time!

The dinner was great. A lot of very tasty food and fabulous deserts. The waiter, Parvu Alexandru, was very nice. He recommended us of the food and drinks and didn't let us order more food than we can eat. The music and the show were fun. I'll definitely come back next time in Bucharest.

Dining at Hanu’ Lui Manuc was an unforgettable experience — a perfect blend of tradition, history, and great food. The atmosphere feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by centuries-old architecture and warm hospitality. I tried the Vizir Ciolan — incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. Every bite reflected authentic Romanian craftsmanship. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the entire place radiates charm and culture. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bucharest — whether for local dishes, historical vibes, or simply a memorable culinary experience.

Origo is a versatile establishment in Bucharest that transforms from a stylish specialty coffee shop during the day to a trendy cocktail bar at night. Located conveniently near the Old Centre, it offers some of the best brews in the city and provides an excellent starting point for exploring nearby attractions such as the Palace of the Parliament and Cismigiu Gardens. The café boasts a post-modern artsy decor, friendly English-speaking staff, and exclusively roasted top-class coffee.
Seriously enjoyed this place. Great coffees, helpful and knowledgeable team. I had a flat white prepared using Indonesian beans (part of their 88+ menu). It was fantastic. As a follow up, I came back a day later and had Ethiopia (from 88+ menu) and Costa Rica (standard). Both enjoyable.

Nice and quiet coffee bar, with an elegant modern architecture. I had a cappuccino, very good but it could have been a little larger. It's not easy to have a table on the terrace, as the place is quite popular at all hours.

Excellent service, coffee flavour and attention to detail in preparing the coffees. Tried both their cortardo and drip. They had several coffees ready for espresso, house drip, and a selection of more premium high cupping score offerings for v60.

Came here for breakfast, not a great choice has they don’t have much to eat just some deserts. But the staff was so amazing recommending me other places where I could have a more fulfilling breakfast that I decided to stay, and had a nice blueberry bread with a cappuccino. The cappuccino was a bit small, they probably have sizes, but I didn’t realized when I ordered nor was asked, but I saw others with bigger drinks. The cappuccino was good and yet different I think was due to the choice of coffee I made. In general good experience, service is awesome

Kaiamo is a sophisticated fine dining restaurant located in the heart of Bucharest, on Ermil Pangratti street. The interior design beautifully blends traditional and contemporary elements, reflecting the contrast between simplicity and sophistication. The chef's goal at Kaiamo is to showcase unique dishes ranging from traditional to modern cuisine. The restaurant offers a reinvented ethnic design with modern touches, creating a unique atmosphere that complements its delicious reinterpretations of Romanian cuisine.
This is without a doubt one of the best restaurants I’ve ever experienced. From the moment you step in, the ambiance and design instantly draw you in—every detail feels thoughtfully chosen to create a welcoming atmosphere. I especially loved the open kitchen, where you can watch the chefs at work—it truly feels like witnessing art in motion. We chose the 20-course tasting menu (yes, a lot—but worth every bite!). Each dish was creative, beautifully presented, and full of unique flavors that made the experience unforgettable. A highlight was having the head chef—who is also the owner—personally serve a few of the courses. It gave us the chance to connect with him, hear his story, and understand the passion behind this remarkable place. Overall, it was an exceptional experience. If you’re a true food lover or a fan of fine dining, I can’t recommend it enough.
Catalina B — Google review
Celebrating my 60th birthday at Kaiamo in Bucharest was nothing short of spectacular—an experience that truly encapsulated what fine dining should be. From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for something extraordinary. If Kaiamo isn’t already on the Michelin radar, it most certainly should be. My experience at Kaiamo is a step above the Michelin restaurants I have visited. The atmosphere exuded an intimate, yet refined elegance, setting the perfect tone for a memorable evening. What truly made this dinner stand out, however, was the food—each dish a masterpiece in both flavor and presentation. The chef has crafted a menu that is nothing short of a revelation. The ingredients are as unique as they are luxurious, combining local Romanian elements with bold, modern techniques. Also, the impeccable service that made us feel like we were the only guests in the restaurant. The tasting menu we chose was a journey of textures, colors, and flavors that danced on the palate. Every bite felt like a revelation, an intricate symphony of flavors that were perfectly balanced and nuanced. The use of seasonal ingredients—many of which I’d never tasted before—brought a fresh vibrancy to the meal. Whether it was a delicate seafood dish or an expertly prepared meat course, the textures were absolutely sublime, elevating the experience from mere dining to artistry. Kaiamo is not just a restaurant; it’s a journey—a rare opportunity to indulge in something truly special. If you’re seeking an unparalleled culinary experience in Bucharest, this is it. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

The restaurant is comfortable and well-designed. We celebrated our honeymoon here. All the food is delicious with its stories. It is not only a fine dining, is a history trip of the local cuisine which affects by French in the last century as well. The wine suggestion is also good choices. The waiter Elia gave us a great service in patient and explanation. It is lucky that we decided to have our celebration here.

The Michelin man needs to find his way to Bucharest ASAP - Kaiamo is massively deserving of some ⭐️⭐️⭐️ power. This meal was unbelievable. The courses were delicious and unique, every one had a story behind it. The service was exquisite, I have never felt so well looked after at a meal. Everything was perfect. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
Marcy R — Google review
We booked this restaurant for our final night in Bucharest and it was a memorable one. For one, it was a celebration night with live music and themed dishes. We sat at the bar and were mesmerized by the team working together to get the plates out. Service was excellent, very attentive, and they speak English. The food was innovative and unforgettable. We were happy to have spoken to the chef a couple of times since he served us the dessert personally. I highly recommend Kaiamo and hope that one day it will earn at least one Michelin star. Definitely a highlight of our trip.
Jeannine A — Google review
As a native New York-er with decades of dining highs and heartbreaks, I don’t say this lightly: Kaiamo is both inspirational, and welcoming. The cooking, the plating, the service, the sound and light of the room—every detail lands with bullseye precision. You sit down, exhale, and realize the whole experience has been stitched together so beautifully that awe turns into a culinary journey. Bucharest is lucky to have you. We hosted a large event for a crew of very well-traveled food aficionados, and Kaiamo impressed even the toughest palates. Two months on, our guests are still talking about it. The five-course tasting menu unfolded like a fairy tale—flavors layered, textures deliberate, pacing spot-on. Plating touches art without pretentious overkill. Cocktails don’t shout; they frame the meal, and wines embrace it. Service is the clincher. The open kitchen ticks like a Swiss clock—calm, exact, soothing to watch, staff perfectly synchronized- what a view! Plates arrive at the perfect temperature, glasses are refreshed discreetly, and the team seems to anticipate needs before you can name them. Hospitality here is a performance. Kaiamo is fine dining with global legs. Teleport it to Tokyo or Paris and it would hold the room—and probably steal it. Kaiamo is Michelin-ready, without question. Wonderful.

Currently one of the best in Romania in my humble oppinion. We have enjoyed a truly intriguing culinary experience within a lovely venue featuring a cozy atmosphere and with quite an impressive serving spectacle. Food was just magical: playful, creative and above all: full of tast. Some of the cocktails were also divine. ————— I would not recommend the drinks pairing option - it’s a bit too much and just seams wasteful after a point. Dear Owners, please review and reconsider that part of your menus; Other than that: thank you very much for the experience and we wish you all the best
Res3arch — Google review
Kaiamo is s fine-dining gem that elevates Romanian flavors through modern, artistic execution. They only offer tasting menu: 9, 15 or 20 courses. Each course is thoughtfully crafted to reinterpret Romanian ingredients using advanced techniques - expect playful “mimicry” dishes, which are not what they appear to be. The menu changes quarterly, ensuring fresh creativity and variety. The interior blends understated sophistication with dramatic theatrical flair: low-lit open kitchen, minimalist lighting on tables, occasional flames in the pass, and visual contrasts like neon accents - creating a sense of performance alongside dining. Staff are professional, friendly and knowledgeable - explaining each dish’s concept and backstory with enthusiasm.

Simbio is a cozy and welcoming restaurant located in Bucharest's old town, offering a sunny courtyard with comfortable seating and a charming interior adorned with antique furniture and bright couches. It's known as the go-to place for brunch among locals, serving classic dishes like eggs Benedict, omelets, and French toast alongside more unique options such as shakshuka.
Very cool place in a lovely neighborhood. The garden is beautiful, and so is the food, I especially recommend the burgers. Would definitely return!

beautiful place with a spacious garden, friendly service and good coffee! it was tasty - high quality ingredients, yet very simple

Awesome experience! The food was absolutely delicious. The menu is minimalist with a few options but these options are well mastered! Good enough. Very satasfying gem hidden in the heart of Bucharest. Loved the decoration and the books around, playful.
Zach G — Google review
The food was decent, but it was essentially just a homemade sandwich with regular bread — far too expensive for what it was (around 40–50 lei). The waiter was cold and very bored, at times even impolite Because of these aspects, I chose not to leave a tip (even though the waiter was clearly disinterested and sometimes unprofessional, he still asked if we want to leave a tip). On our way out, when we said “hi,” he didn’t even respond. The garden was nice. In conclusion, there are many places that are much nicer, with better-prepared and friendlier staff.
Radu H — Google review
Really cool building, the coffee was fantastic and the food was great also. But a crouque madame should have bechmal and cheese on top of the sandwich. Was still good 👍🏻
Tom C — Google review
Go for a hidden restaurant experience with a magical courtyard but not necessarily for the food or fresh air. I had Shakshuka and it was basically tomato soup with eggs on top and sour cream. A very different flavor and texture to it. Had a muscle builder smoothie with carrot, orange, and ginger that was fresh and delicious. The biggest issue was all the smoking when stuck in a courtyard in between walls. Second hand smoke is worse, smells bad, and it ruins the sense of taste when eating. The staff were chain smoking and sitting just outside the door so inside wasn’t safe either. Gorgeous spot though and worth a trip if smoking.

They have just a few options on the menu, however the food is tasty. Just remember if you want to go for dinner, it starts at 18 PM.

Luca is a popular fast-food bakery in Bucharest known for its variety of stuffed bread rings, cakes, and other quick bites. The menu offers budget-friendly options, making it ideal for those looking for a quick and affordable meal. The ambiance is functional and designed for efficiency, catering to those in a rush. The food is described as tasty, quick, and straightforward. Customers appreciate the convenience of being able to grab a snack without dealing with large crowds or high prices.
Although it's a bakery chain I can only recommend them. I wanted to try the covrig and they have so many different types beside the traditionals. They have straight ones which they call simply "Luca", and they are delicious! I have chosen a traditional with ham and cheese and a "Picante" with red cabbage and sausage - this was the best but both of them tasted fresh, warm, little crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Great flavours, good quality and great prices, between 2.5-5.5 RON.

Super delicious fast food chain, they always serve their pastries fresh and hot, very affordable, a great choice for a fast snack, a bit addictive i’d say, we ate there 6 times in 2 days ahah. Ps: it’s just kiosks, there is no place to sit

Actually their stuff was good , but less opt6for HALAL , I tried the kashkaval cheese, was nice . Staff was poor in speaking English. Recommended.

This place is cheap and a proper local bakery. They have various stores around town. If a food place is busy and full of locals that in itself shows that it’s a good well-known place. The bread is fluffy, soft and has a nice taste. The fillings also are good and the breads are well filled. The pastries was also very good. All is made in store. Much recommended place to try if you’re in Bucharest. Look at the quality of food and not so much at the staff…as different branches will vary in staff and not all are friendly but food quality is all on a same level.

Delicious warm tiny baguettes encasing a choice of sausage, ham, cheese, sour cabbage or Nutella. Around 5-6 lei each. They take card like everywhere. Great snack or breakfast. You just buy from the window and eat on the go. Recommend

I was at Luca's for lunch, it was excellent... quality/price ratio, highly recommended if you want to eat something local and take away.

We got two of the strudels here, two of the lucas, and one pretzel with cheese on it! All for 16 RON, and it was a fabulous lunch. My husband really enjoyed the covri Luca (with a hot dog inside) and I loved the Luca haiducesc (with ham and like an onion cream cheese in it). The strudels were perfect- flaky and delicious! And the Covrigelul cu vișine (which was the pretzel with cheese baked on) was exquisite!

Vatra is a charming and unassuming restaurant located in the heart of Bucharest. It's highly recommended for its exceptional service and delicious cuisine, offering traditional Romanian dishes like sarmale and a delightful Romanian cheese plate. The restaurant is adorned with traditional textiles and ceramics, creating a beautiful ambiance. Beyond its culinary delights, Vatra is situated in a vibrant neighborhood filled with hipster hangouts, bohemian art galleries, and quaint cafes.
Great restaurant near old town. As a starter we took in pork sausages. They were delicious. For the main event I took pork with garlic sauce while my partner choose the trout. Everything was so delicious. Be sure to be hungry when coming because the portions are huge. The staff were also so friendly. Thank you🩷

We visited this restaurant during our holidays in Bucharest. It has a nice traditional atmosphere, and we appreciated that they gave us a table without a reservation. The food was good, and we truly enjoyed our meal. However, the only disappointing part was when I asked for the bill. Our total was 415 RON, and I told the waiter to keep 450 RON. Later, I realized that my card was charged 475 RON. This left a negative impression after an otherwise pleasant experience.

Dined at Vatra with a few friends and it was an incredible experience! The place was packed, mostly with foreign guests, and we were super lucky to get a spot definitely recommend making a reservation! The staff were amazing, squeezing us in with a warm welcome. The atmosphere was electric, with lively folk dancing, gorgeous wall decorations, and multiple dining rooms that gave it a cozy yet grand vibe. We had two clay pot chicken dishes one with crispy fries, the other with creamy mămăligă (Romanian polenta) both bursting with flavor (especially if you’re a garlic lover). The trout with vegetables was fresh and perfectly cooked. We shared warm appetizers (awesome variety!) and sipped their house wine, which paired great. For dessert, the papanași were fluffy and indulgent, and the cheese-filled pancakes (local style) were a delight. Portions were huge and authentically Romanian. Vatra’s vibrant vibe, stunning decor, and delicious food make it a must-visit. Book ahead and enjoy!

Amazing restaurant with true Romanian charm! Vatra is an incredible place where you really get a feel for authentic Romanian culture. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is absolutely outstanding — attentive, friendly, and professional. The food was delicious and full of flavor, truly a perfect introduction to traditional Romanian cuisine. To our surprise, we even got to enjoy two short live performances of traditional dances, which added so much to the experience and made the evening extra special. This restaurant was the cherry on top of our day in Bucharest. I also love that it’s located just outside the busy Old Town — close enough to reach easily, but far enough to avoid the crowds. Plus, the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. I highly recommend Vatra to anyone visiting Bucharest. We’ll definitely be coming back!

ordered the tripe soup and papasini. the soup was creamy but light and fresh. the tripe was also excellent! they gave bread as a condiment. papasini was also perfect! the crisp from the doughnut is perfectly paired with the sour cream and combined with the sweetness from the compout. the service was also nice!

Dined at Vatra to experience traditional Romanian food, and it did not disappoint. Yes, it might be a bit touristy (including local dancing and music), but the food was tasty. If you want to try some traditional Romanian food in Bucharest, this is a great option. Note that if you want a seat on the patio in the evening, you may need a reservation.

Our experience was absolutely fantastic!! The food was great and we had plenty of choices! Great cocktails also and big variety of wines. The service was exceptional! We made a mistake in our order and even though that it was our fault they did not charge it. I highly recommend it

Honestly, I expected much more from NOR. We went as a family of 6, including my elderly parents, and right from the start it was frustrating — security blocked us from entering the building for over 10 minutes until his colleague came back, leaving us waiting outside. The view is beautiful and the staff inside were friendly, but the food, while good, wasn’t anything special. I’ve had much better meals in other restaurants for much lower prices. On top of that, the music inside was unnecessarily loud, making it hard to have a relaxed conversation. We spent around 1600 RON for the 6 of us, and for that price I expected far better flavors, service, and atmosphere. If you want the view, maybe try it once — but as a restaurant, I can’t give it more than 3★.
Haytham M — Google review
This place is a bit of a mixed bag, but ultimately worth a visit for the food alone. The ambiance is truly lovely—perfect for a special occasion. The decor is sophisticated and the lighting is just right, creating a genuinely fancy atmosphere. The food is good and the presentation was artistic and impressive. However, the service fell short of what you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Our server was a bit inattentive, and we had to wait longer than we should have to get our drinks and for our plates to be cleared. If you're willing to overlook some minor service hiccups for a truly exceptional meal in a beautiful setting, then this is the place for you.

The place is great, the view is really nice. The food was good but I wasn’t impressed by it. I think it’s a little overpriced, I recommend to go just to have your own opinion about it, because it’s cute and you can have a nice time there, but it’s not really breathtaking.

I have been there, the food was not the finest, very salty pastrami and for other plates. From taste side we did not recognize, or able to, appreciate the different flavors inside the plates. It would be nice to let us know that we have paid the service before paying (more than 10% of the total price 27 lei for two people)
Michele L — Google review
I have very mixed feelings about my meal at this restaurant. Overall the food was quite good but there were some annoying things which made the experience less enjoyable. I was there with my partner and it so happened that both of us had two courses. Both of mine were lukewarm while his were boiling hot. I had the steak, which I asked for to be done medium. As you can see from the pictures, it was much more than that. It was good nonetheless. The way everything is presented in the menu seems more exciting and better spiced than what's served on the plate. For example the "spiced butter with various greens etc" was just a slab of butter with some parsley. The sausages and cabbage were also supposed to be very well spiced. Absolutely nothing special about them. Nothing wrong either, just average. Which sums pretty much the whole experience. Average... and not reflected in the absurd prices...

My wife and I fell in love with the food here. My wife even thought the salmon tartar was better than any she'd had at Michelin stared restaurants. We also tried the beef and duck, both of which were so perfectly cooked that it melted in the mouth. Our host, Mikael, was great, very attentive, and friendly. The ambience was very intimate and relaxed, it felt almost like being invited into someone's home. We would highly recommend everyone try the food here while they can, before the Michelin guide discovers it.

A casual venue with amazing food that you'd expect in a much more expensive restaurant. Excellent and knowledgeable service, chill environment and really special food. We had the hummus appetizer, my wife enjoyed the shrimp with veg in a white wine sauce, very light and tasty. I had the cream of mushroom soup which was flavorful and not salty, a curse of other such soups. My entre was duck w root veg , which was one of the best I've had. Nice house red wine.

I usually don’t write Google reviews, but this time I just couldn’t help it. I’ve been to many Michelin-rated and recommended restaurants, and honestly, this one is a joke compared to them. The food looks nice on the plate, but that’s about it. A perfect example of how good plating doesn’t mean good food. I tasted and debated the scent and flavours, which made me feel like a true sommelier. Then I tried the selection of authentic Romanian spreads, the best I had in my life! I love the vibe of the place, the waitresses were warm, kind and helpful, especially Nina, which I’m very fond of! I love the freedom your restaurant conjures! The fairytale-like snow from outside was perfect to go with! What I love most about this place is that they source from local, authentic food & beverages artisans! I recommend wholeheartedly to visit this place! You’ll fall in love at first sight (and taste)! I had lived a truly memorable experience!

So good we went twice! A really nice, buzzy atmosphere at night and during the day. The range of Romanian wines is incredible! They also do a great local beer (Anagram). We loved the Romanian meat and cheese platter.

Absolutely amazing experience!!! Uk visitor for my 40th birthday with my best friends, the venue is stunning, the food was phenomenal! Such huge portions and Absolutely delicious (we had to take some home with us) there was live dancing which was fantastic and the staff were very attentive and polite thisbis a must visit if you find yourselves in Bucharest, but make sure to booknin advance as it's always rammed!!

Delicious pizza, tasty local cheese selection. The wine menu is nice and various with Romanian and Moldavian only, but the "special reds" tasting is a must try if you are an enthusiast.
Campean A — Google review
Pâine și Vin is not what it used to be, when we first went there, after the pandemic. At first, you stopped using proper mimolet cheese. The no 2 & 5 pizza were special indeed before that. This summer you shut for months. You re-opened only to realise that the dough doesn't even taste as fresh as it used to, but more like the frozen kind. You got a new hostess instead. So what. That can't justify the ridiculous increase in price while the sizes are smaller and your pizza like any other in town.
Julius-Cezar M — Google review
This place is very popular so I decided to have dinner. I booked a table online and it was very easy. Warm welcome from the hostess. I asked her the menu and I chose to have a classic one not a digital one. Very confusing a second person took the drinks order and a third one took the food order. Fondue arrived in an unusual presentation and the souffle was flat not properly baked. After the main course was cleared there were no recommendations for dessert. I needed to ask for dessert menu. No wine service I needed to pour myself. After the wine was opened the waiter didn't check with me, normally need to taste and confirm the quality of the wine. In general I was very disappointed with the service. I left 10 percent gratuity because I don't like to give nothing but they didn't deserve it. Thank you

Restaurant
Mahala is a unique dining destination located near the Bragadiru Palace and Ceausescus House of the People, blending traditional and contemporary elements. Chef Sorin Petru Cucus offers a menu that combines classic dishes like hearty ciorba soup with tripe and delicate turbot with black truffles, alongside innovative creations such as quail-olive dumplings and sea bass tartar. The decor features naive wall paintings that evoke both old folklore and modernist masterpieces.
Great wine recommendation, amazing cruising, funky atmosphere, good service. The Sarmi, veal chicks and zucchini flowers are a total MUST - some of the best of tried around the world. One of the best authentic places around town.

It turned out that the kitchen in this restaurant is a typical Romanian. So we tried meet dishes (lamb shank and beef cheeks). And a vegetable kind of 'adjapsandal' starter to put on a bread. We found a waiter way of communication too the communication style is too free with jokes on the edge dont remember his ñame, black hair. Good was ok, but really nothing special. Rather Costly, for these three dishes and 2 lemonades 350 lei.
Anton K — Google review
Me and my girlfriend had a very lovely dinner here. We shared a portion of beef cheeks with polenta and a portion of herb-crusted cockerel with mashed potatoes. The beef especially was very tender and the mashed potates were fluffy and tasty. For dessert we had the coliva and the combination of traditional coliva with ice cream, essence of rum and sweet bread, was something we really enjoyed. Everything was delicios, but in the expensive side. Would recommend for these dishes. The place was almost empty on a friday night for the time we stayed there 7-8pm, so the food came super fast.

The food is very good, the restaurant is very beautiful and situated in a historical side of the city.Very quiet, very intimate, the terrace is wonderful and has a good vibe, with alot of vegetation. We went there two times, one time for lunch we were attented by a nice, friendly waiter, very communicative and polite. The second time, for dinner, the whole staff was extremely bored and bothered every time we asked for something. The cocktails are awful, watery and full of ice and from the whole bar menu, they only had 2 available. The wine list also needs improvement.
Queen R — Google review
The food that we tried was not too bad but nothing memorable either. We paid 88€ for 2 mains, 2 starters, 2 glasses of wine and water- so it is a bit overpriced. The lamb was a bit overcooked and the radish salad was just a huge amount of radish chopped with fresh onions. Better to try a more local restaurant that will be cheaper.
Mary K — Google review
I recently dined at Mahala, a modern Romanian cuisine restaurant, and overall, it was a mixed experience. The food was undeniably good, with dishes that skillfully combined traditional flavors with a contemporary twist. However, the prices were on the higher side, which might be justified if the entire dining experience matched the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate, and we had to move from the outdoor seating to the indoor terrace, which was a bit underwhelming. The interior lacks the charm you'd expect from such a restaurant, feeling more functional than atmospheric. Service was also not top-notch; while the staff were polite, the overall attentiveness and efficiency were lacking, especially considering the premium pricing. Adding to the inconvenience, the restaurant next door was hosting a wedding, and the noise from the celebration was quite distracting, especially on a Saturday evening. It definitely took away from what could have been a more enjoyable and intimate meal. Overall, Mahala has great potential with its flavorful dishes, but the ambiance, service, and some external factors made it less than ideal during our visit. If you’re looking for a quieter and more polished experience, it might be best to visit on a weekday or when the weather allows for a pleasant outdoor seating arrangement.

Acuarela is a vibrant and laid-back bistro in Bucharest, offering a colorful and artsy space to enjoy drinks and bar bites. The venue is filled with art, both on the walls and in the garden, creating a lively and invigorating atmosphere. The menu offers a diverse selection of food and drinks at moderate prices, served in old tin tableware that adds a nostalgic touch. The staff is friendly, adding to the heartwarming and genuine service experience.
Proper cocktails and smoothies, privacy granted by spacious seating with greenery surrounding some of the table, decorated with care with wall to wall works of art and pieces of history from a previous era, unfortunately home to some angry mosquitos, but all together a lovable, quaint and tastefully decorated joint.

It is a very nice place with delicious food. The place is very colorful and full of different, creative objects. We ordered a vegetarian burger with red beans and chicken breasts with rice. It was very delicious. I liked the baked chicken breast a lot: it was very tender, and with the rice, it tastes awesome. It is a very quiet and nice place. Very recommended.

A wonderful bistro in bucharest! We visited this place as it was located near our accommodation and had a great time. The interior design is so carefully arranged and the sense of coziness really makes you want to stay for hours. We really loved the retro anesthetics. We tried the burger, pulled pork and fries. All were very tasty and excellent! I can't recommend it enough! Great work! Keep it up!

May I add: very cool menu design, it's in my top 3 ever! I loved that they had options for vegetarians and vegans, too!

Probably one of the nicest terraces in Bucharest. Playful, green and friendly 🥳 it was a pleasure to spend a Sunday evening here, the atmosphere was really cool and peaceful. Good food, mostly classical recipes but with a twist to make them even more loveable. Interesting cocktails 😋

Green garden, pretty spacious with an artsy ambiance. The food has the taste of childhood (home made french fries with eggs and goat cheese). Relaxed ambiance and fun space to see and explore. The service was good, not very crowded at 21.15 on a week night, you can spend some time with friends and cuban music background.

I come here way too often. This place is amazing. Food is great and the garden is calm and peaceful. I recommend the pastrami sandwhich and the berry infused lemonade. Fries are also delicious. They have many tables in the garden and also inside. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. Service is fast. You can bring your dog, this place is pet-friendly. If you come by car, you can park on the street near the bistro. Great coming during the evening as well, really cosy.

Biutiful Downtown is a captivating venue nestled in the vibrant heart of Bucharest, where rustic charm meets contemporary flair. This eclectic spot is perfect for couples seeking a romantic evening or anyone wanting to soak up the lively nightlife. As you enter, you're welcomed by an aesthetically pleasing interior that showcases meticulous attention to detail. For those planning a memorable date night, Biutiful Downtown offers a cozy yet modern atmosphere paired with delectable meals and refreshing drinks—making it an ideal choice for first dates.
A luxurious location, with a very good vibe, the dishes are tasty and are carefully selected to cover all tastes, the prices are relatively high. The service is impeccable. In principle, it would be advisable to make a reservation in advance, although the place is not centrally located, it is always full. Recommended for those who appreciate a lush design and some dishes that are not wowwww but more than decent, all at a price towards the upper limit.
Bog D — Google review
Biutiful downtown is a bit aside but always full. So first make sure you book it in advance even in week days. The inside of the restaurant is very ‘instagramable’ with lush and raw decoration. It feels very unique. The cocktails are very good; the food is very good quality and the dessert was heaven! Waiters were nice to us and it Did not feel we had to wait long to be served. Honestly if you look for a nice dinner or a special occasion; it is very fancy here!
Didier D — Google review
The place is really "biutiful", with a lot of nice decorations and a lot of space, but the food, even though it was cooked correctly, was not so good. The only logical explanation is that the quality of the main ingredients is not that good. For those prices, I am expecting tastier ingredients, as the cooking was great (the meat melts itself out of the ribs' bones). Location: 5/5 Staff: 5/5 Food: 3/5 Prices: 3/5
Alexandru B — Google review
The place has a great atmosphere, the service is perfect. The food is delicious! For starters we had the hummus with tabbouleh, guacamole and tacos. They were all good, but the guacamole was missing the coriander which gives it that unique flavour. The meat in the tacos was perfect. For the main dish we had a goat cheese salad, which was perfectly balanced, lamb kofta, good and tandoori herb marinated turkey breast, which is ok, not great. If you're a french fries lover like myself, I totally recommend the melted cheddar and crispy bacom fries....omg!❤️ The desserts are good, we had the mitzu and the sponge cake! Delish! The coffee is good, but the cocktails somewhat on the lighter side. 😉 Will go again and I recommend it, even though the food isn't wow, the overall experience is pleasant and nice. 😊
Panait A — Google review
It is close to the Timpuri Noi subway station. When we made the reservation, they didn't mention we can't sit inside. Inside, as we heard (and one of the reasons we wanted to go there) it is beautifully decorated and intimate. They had some food events/festivals in 3 of their restaurants, but when we went inside for the bathroom, that room through which we went down to the toilets was empty. I can't explain more because we didn't receive further explanation or guidance from the hostess. The place outside was nice too, but if you are arahnophobic, it is best to sit on the high stools at the round tables rather than the long benches - they have spider webs beneath them. You can put a pillow underneath, just to feel more safe. Anyway, nothing happened sitting on one of them, but it took me a bit to forget what I saw. We went around 05:30 PM on a Saturday, a DJ came shortly after. The music was funky at first and after he put smooth jazz, but the first part didn't seem fit for eating, I felt I was more at the beach than at a restaurant. The food was ok, we were recommended the wedges with bacon and cheese. My boyfriend had also the ribbs with salad he very much enjoyed and I had truffle pizza. It wasn't the best I've eaten, nor the cheapest of its kind. The cocktails were good. The Mitzu dessert was also good. For these two reasons and the interior of the restaurant I'd go again. The one who served us the dessert seemed professional, but he wasn't Romanian. The other bartenders / waiters they were polite to us, prompt. The only two things that didn't sit right with me regarding their behavior - this is because I had high hopes about this place all together - is that when they had some time off, they all gathered at the bar and laughed and just stayed there like a pack and the hostess at one moment came and put her hand on one of the waiter's behinds. It looked unprofessional and cheap, especially for a lady. I can understand the stressful part about the job, but not that kind of relaxation or familiarity as a response, when there are clients around. So, I was glad after all I had this experience, I spent some nice time with my boyfriend, this is what matters to me, but for a review I took all the details into consideration. I'd go again there, just under different circumstances.
Ivona L — Google review
The location is very beautifully decorated. Prices are medium. Food was good. They told us that men cannot enter the restaurant in short trousers, but i guess that's just their policy. The only problem ia that they don't really have a terrace, only a few tables and no one served there so we stayed inside. All in all, it was a nice place. Veggie options also
Alexandra L — Google review
Urban design and feel, wisely located in an area with high income that lacked this type of locale. It should attract a good deal of clients that are well above average through its fresh style and prices. The food is tasty, yet i would pin this as a must-get-my-social media-check-in-and- instagram-the-food type of place instead of a gourmet destination. Perfect for a weekend brunch with friends.
Beatrice E — Google review
Came for drinks on a weeknight and it was quiet with a relaxing atmosphere. We didn't order any food, as other reviewers have mentioned that the food is not impressive. The interior is amazingly decorated and aesthetically pleasing. I prefer the downtown location more than the lakeside one. Visiting from Ottawa, Canada and this is the nicest looking bar I've ever been to! I would definitely come back in the future 😍

Sorry to say this, but it was the most disappointing 'market' ever visited. There are only 10 shops or so. Fruits, veggies, flowers, and silver stuff. That was it...it took 25 mins to walk from the city center, but it wasn't worth visiting. Only good for locals to buy their food.

Nestled in the historic Uranus neighborhood on Calea Rahovei, this charming venue boasts an extensive selection of local and international beers that perfectly complement its hearty menu.
Nice place for a relaxing lunch. Very spacious both inside and outside, with plenty of seating. Waiters are quick, and menus are also written in English (though the waiters don’t speak it much). The food was good, and the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. It was quite full during our visit, so on weekends it might be a good idea to reserve a table in advance to avoid waiting.

When we were choosing where to seat (inside or outside), we were being passed on to several "colleagues" which gave us different answers-- you need to have a reservation to sit inside, yes you can sit inside as long as there's an empty table. Trattoria Mezzaluna is a great Italian restaurant located in central Bucharest. The food is fresh and tasty, and the hosts are very sweet and accommodating. The wine list is full and the experience was amazing. I would highly recommend Trattoria Mezzaluna to anyone looking for a fantastic Italian meal!
A nice place with amazing food. We had pizza, grilled octopus and lasagna, all very good. For dessert, I highly recommend the Tiramisu, they prepare it in front of you :) The staff is kind, helpful and polite. Even with the place fully booked, the waiter was always available, and the drinks arrived quickly. The place has a small garden, with a lot of shade, very pleasant in the summer (I recommend making a reservation outside).

We sat outside (only table we could get - booking is recommended) and it was a chilly day, but blankets provided and a heater by the table kept us cosy. Both were great, the food was delicious and the service friendly and informal.

A place I’ll definitely keep coming back to!

Probably one of the best dining experiences is having the beefsteak tartare and the tiramisu prepared in front of you. All the dishes were delicious.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Very friendly staff, food was great. They assemble the tiramisu in front of you which is an experience itself. Also the minestrone is great. Loved it!

For a surprise it was an excellent surprise: very good Italian ingredients, very good service and cozy atmosphere. The best Italian restaurant in Bucharest so far. I waited to go there a second time before writing my review and without any doubt it is an excellent restaurant!

City Grill Covaci, located in the heart of Old Town, is a popular choice for those seeking a blend of Romanian and international cuisine. The menu boasts traditional small sausages known as 'mititei' or 'mici', alongside other grilled delicacies like skewers, sardines, steaks, and fish. The restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, making it an ideal spot for casual dining with friends or family.
Had a delicious dinner here tonight. Our server, Steluta was great. We enjoyed the egg plant salad, fried zucchini, and eggplant zaccusca, but the best was the Mici, WOW these sausages are grilled to perfection and full of flavor. My favorite were the spicy & non-spicy ones with lamb, but all were terrific.

Severs delicious Romania foods in a nice location with good atmosphere. We ordered traditional dishes like Sausages, cabbages rolls which were very tasty but the chocolate cake couldn’t satisfy our expectations. Cake seemed to be taken out from fridge and was watery. Food portion is enough and staffs were nice and friendly.

Our Service man Sujan was very good. Asking if Everything is Fine, asking of we want desert. We was 4 Persons. Everyone had more then one Menue. We can recommend this Restaurant for everyone.

I came here to try the mici (skinless sausages) as recommended by my Airbnb host. At lunch it was very quiet and easy to find a table - either inside or outside. The grill is right in the middle of the restaurant so you can see everything being cooked - although you might not want to sit right next to it if you don't want your clothes to smell! The food was good and everything was fresh - even the chips you could tell were made fresh and not frozen. I ordered the 3 different types of sausage (beef, pork and lamb), but they all tasted the same... Vicky was my server (gave me a card to leave a review), and her service was friendly and efficient!

Nicoleta was very attentive and provided great service. The food was incredible, the platters were great value and very tasty. Also amazing cocktails, the basil gin one is a must try. Lovely ambience, comfy cosy seating. Would definitely be back!

Great place for food and drinks! The prices are very good and the staff kind! There is indoor and outdoor space as well! And of course, Georgiana was the best server we could have! Kind, smiley, communicative and helpful with everything! Thank you so much my beautiful Georgiana!

Absolutely incredible experience. We were looking for a place to enjoy some authentic Mici and after many recommendations stumbled across here. Not only were the Mici incredibly flavourful, the other items on the menu were delicious. Very good value for money and the service from Nicoleta was superb. If I come back to Bucharest I will definetely be coming here again, thoroughly recommend!

Energiea is a vibrant and hip urban spot located near the Cismigiu Gardens in Bucharest. Housed in a former printing house, this venue exudes an eclectic and relaxed atmosphere with a fascinating history. The loft-like architecture still carries the essence of its printing past, but now it serves as a unique bar and eatery. The menu reflects a light international tradition with simple, healthy dishes served impeccably.
I only have good things to say. I had here a very delicious burger that came with fries and cucumber salad. The meat was juicy and flavorful, the fries were good and the salad helped to balance some of the fat. We also had the potatoes platter with cheese and mostly because we were curious about the sauces. The food was too much for 3 people (or at least 3 small girls like us) but very tasty. The drinks were very good. We all stick to nonalcoholic but I saw the cocktails carried to other tables and were looking great! The greatest lemonade they have was the one with roses - they call it Trandafirata. The others were good too, the coconut one was a bit too sweet for me. The staff is very friendly and paid attention to us every time. They had a wonderful attitude and we felt very welcome. I will come again!

Very welcoming restaurant serving food even after 11 PM. The place is quiet and at only a few hundred meters from the frenzy of Calea Victoriei. The personnel is very friendly and the food is rather good at decent prices. I recommend the flavoured home made natural lemonades.

I had an excellent Beef Salad 🥗 in this pub, I really enjoyed it, service was by an extremely friendly waitress, really nice and took me through the food and drink options. It was wonderfully aircon so really pleasant space to have a meal. 🥘 I would definitely go back a real gem 💎 in the old town.

This place is dog friendly which makes it amazing from the start. The staff is extremely friendly, considerate, and thoughtful. Two of the employees came and ask to bring a bowl of water to our dog. The food is nice, however they don’t really deliver steaks as required in terms of rare/medium/well-done. My steak came more on the colder side and even though I asked for a rare steak it came medium. Other than that I really enjoyed this place.
Sasha L — Google review
A trendual place especially in the hipster area, reflecting also in quite spicy prices. To be recommend, as it's a bit outside from what you find in the touristic Old City of Bucharest.
Nicolae B — Google review
Was with a large group of co-workers. Ordered Antricot de Vita MEDIUM, they served it medium rare. Worse, they cut the meat in slices which you never do unless you make a lousy salad. So the 160ron beef was not what i asked, 2 out of 5 stars. Now the Creme Brule, you can check the picture, this is not creme brule, this is just a sweet soup burnt on the top. Worst desert i ever ate, 1 out of 5 stars. If I had to pay for this I would've asked for my money back. Disrespectul towards the customer and incompetent cooks. PS: everyone who had the steam complained it was not medium and it was too rare...

The food was really good! Loved the composition of the meals and the portions were big. We were served by a very friendly waitress in the outside dinig area, which is very relaxed. Prices might be a bit expensive, but still liked the experience.

Saray is a Turkish restaurant located in the old town of Bucharest, offering a renowned menu featuring delicious and world-famous Turkish dishes such as kebabs, baklava, muhammara, and hummus. The restaurant is known for its delectable grilled meats and vegetarian options. While some visitors have noted that the prices are higher than average and have had mixed experiences with service, others have praised the food quality and quick service.
Food was good. Service was great and the decor, vibe and atmosphere were good. The toilet was clean with all the necessary. I spent at least 2 hours there because of rain and I felt welcomed and comfortable. Keep it up ^^

We love Turkish food, and glad we came here on our first day in Bucharest. The service was very friendly and food came in fast. We ordered humus with beef chucks with fresh bread making a great start to our meal. We made the mistake and ordered half a platter - the picture didn’t do justice how huge of a platter this was. All the meats and bulgar were delicious. And ofcourse, we had to finish with Kunufe, Turkish coffee and tea.

We was welcomed by a lovely lady on our arrival, we only had shisha and hot beverages. The service was very welcoming and made you feel comfortable, the environment is very nice and pretty. The shisha was nice and smooth with good flavour, we had tropical fruits. I had a lovely romania beer called Carpathian, I would recommend, very smooth and doesn't make you bloated.

Coolest place in Bucharest. It’s our first night here and we’re just walking around and we checked everything and we came to this place. It’s open late. They have an outdoor seating. There’s lots of people here. It’s so fun. It’s around midnight and they’re still serving. The food is looking amazing. the place is beautiful. The guys are really nice. The service is fantastic. They have a lot of Pepsi logos. It’s right next to this beautiful massive institution . We’re loving this is a highlight of our travels in eastern Europe.

We tried the Turkish grills and the Romanian cabbage rolls. As Middle Easterners and fans of Turkish cuisine, I can honestly say the grills were not good at all. Overall, the food was below expectations and the meat did not taste fresh. The portion size was small compared to the price, which is quite high compared to nearby restaurants. I don’t think it’s worth trying.

Very good food. Very good cocktails. Extraordinarily friendly waitresses! This was seriously one of the best service experiences we've had in Bucharest. We will be back!

We had the falafel with bread. The falafel was very greasy, didn’t taste good (we didn’t finish the dish although it was only five pieces), and the falafel caused stomach pain later. The service was not good. We had to ask three times to get the bill. We also specified we will pay by credit card. When the bill finally arrived, the waitress insisted we pay cash as the bill was already made to be paid by cash.

After few years, I come back, hoping that something has changed about the food. No, has not changed. I ordered, Lentils Soup, Falafel, Tabouleh, Humus, Beouf Salad, and some drinks. The soup, is far from what it I have tasted in the last 10 years. To creamy and the tase was far from what I know and tasted. THe Falafel was good but with no tahini, Tabouleh made with parsley too big and with some thick parts. The beouf Salad had too much mayonnaise .. too much. The recommendation is to avoid. You can choose Ali Baba, Amoom, or Al Wady

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Kane Restaurant, located on 9 Dianei Street, is renowned for its exceptional reinterpretation of Romanian cuisine. It has become a favorite among locals who appreciate fine dining due to its exquisite flavors, natural ingredients, attentive service, and a selection of quality wines. The restaurant's focus is on delivering the authentic taste of local ingredients and Romanian wines. Each dish served must meet two basic requirements: the ingredients must come from farmers known personally by the chef and must always be fresh.
I expected Rumanian cuisine to be all about large portions of meat. This restaurant convinced me otherwise, fine refined dining with local products. On top of that it was paired with great Romanian wine. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff made it a great night for us. Our waiter ‘that guy from Kané’ was not only knowledgeable about the food, but told us about the history of the country and the restaurant. If you’re in Bucharest and are craving for really good food, do reserve a table here. You wont regret it!!
Rick R — Google review
I really enjoyed the food. Overall, it was tasty, although the chicken and green beans were slightly below my expectations. Mr. Razvan was especially attentive and polite, with great knowledge about the dishes. However, I found that some of the staff members could benefit from a bit more familiarity with the menu to enhance the overall dining experience. For a place like this, I expected just a bit more in terms of overall performance. With some small adjustments, this place could deliver an even higher level of quality and experience. If you’re looking for a calm and pleasant dinner in Bucharest, this is definitely a great choice.
Eylül K — Google review
We visited Kane to celebrate a birthday, and from the very first course, it was clear this was not just dinner—it was a performance in ten acts. We opted for the tasting menu, accompanied by a few signature cocktails (each one an artful balance of flavor and finesse) and their house-made cola, which was surprisingly complex and refreshing—a nostalgic sip reimagined and handmade on the spot. Each of the ten courses carried its own story, a clear expression of the chef’s creativity and restraint. The plating was sculptural, the flavors precise, and the rhythm of the meal beautifully paced. You could sense intention in every element—textures layered like musical notes, contrasts between earthy and bright, warm and cold, smooth and crisp. The highlight of the evening was the steak, prepared using the larding technique, where fat is carefully woven into the meat before cooking. The result was astonishing: tender yet structured, deeply flavorful, with a melt-in-your-mouth richness that lingered long after the last bite. And then came dessert—a finale that defied expectation. It wasn’t just sweet; it was architectural, emotional, and daringly modern. A perfect close to a meal that never once lost momentum. Kane is more than one of Bucharest’s best fine dining experiences, it’s a culinary conversation between creativity and craftsmanship, between local roots and global inspiration. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply craving an evening where every dish surprises you, Kane delivers with precision.

A fantastic culinary experience in the heart of Bucharest! First of all beautiful interior design, but the food was beyonddd. I took the Set menu which gives u delicious bread dish with 3 types + an entree + first course + main + dessert. Everything was amazing and the flavors were so unique. The staff is very professional and nice, and the chef is so cute, he actually served the entree to me! Highly recommend if u visit in Bucharest! 🇷🇴

THE BEST RESTAURANT IN ROMANIA! I have never eaten better! The dishes are absolutely wonderful, both taste and presentation! My husband and I started eating here a few years ago and became obsessed with this location. We've been here numerous times and even though we tried so many restaurants, this one is still our favorite. When travelling, we always try Michelin stars restaurants abroad and I am telling you, Kané surpassed a few! The restaurant is very nice, quiet, with a pleasent vibe, situated downtown Bucharest, in a renovated old villa. You have the option of seating at a normal table or chef's table. We tried also chef's table (max 4p) and we loved it because it's very private, intimate, a small chamber with beautiful curtains and counter seating. The staff, needles to say, they are so friendly and polite and well trained in their object of field, that we actually became friends.By the way, we love you Catalina and Razvan! Words cannot describe the PERFECTION of this restaurant! Unfortunatelly they changed the menu now being farm-to-table, but the tasting menu is still available upon request, and both of them are absolutely delicious! The prices are FAIR ; for those saying it's expensive, this is quality food, years of experience, exquisite taste and presentation and flawless service. I hope this restaurant lives a long time because i can't imagine life without it! 😁 Last but not least, it's best to book ahead although sometimes you can find available seats; and parking is a bit difficult. There are plenty of street parkings but usually the residents of the neighbourhood park there. For your peace of mind it's best to take an uber, and in the same time you can enjoy a good wine with the delicious food (they have a nice selection).Thank you Kané! ❤️

Good food with huge portions! The serving was decent, we had no issues. One small issue: this pub has only one small bathroom for all clients, which is insufficient.

This restaurant was recommended by a Romanian friend, but we had very bad service. Our server was out front smoking cigarettes most of the time we were there. Our food would have been very good if it had been served when it was ready but we waited almost an hour and our meals had clearly been warmed up again in a microwave. I had the shrimp pasta with truffle sauce and it had a film over it from being microwaved. My husband’s meatballs were overheated and dry while the mashed potatoes were cold. The cocktails were great and the terrace was lovely, but it was unfortunate that our meals were spoiled by the server’s negligence.

Dined here after 10, when lot of other places where already closed. Good value for money, and the signature burger was good! A gem of a find, visited whilst is Bucharest from the UK, definitely worth the visit. Extremely clean, fresh tasting curry and a good variety. Nice staff , good food , worth it for the experience. You can costumize the spice level from 0 to 5 so anyone can try it, very convinent. My only complaint is that the amount of food is quite little for the money. The main dish is designed so that you buy bread and rice to eat it with, so a combo deal would help a lot.

We discovered Haveli by chance while walking in the neighborhood, and it quickly became one of our favorite places in the city. We’ve been coming here for almost two years now, and the food never disappoints. Their butter chicken and naan are honestly some of the best we’ve had in Europe and that’s saying a lot, because it’s hard to find traditional, authentic flavors that haven’t been altered to fit local tastes. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service is always warm and friendly. The team serves you with real smiles every time.

Maybe it wasn't the right day, or maybe the timing was off... The place was packed with a very noisy group and the personnel did nothing to loosen the atmosphere; then the order was taken but served very late and incomplete. The food... below average both visually and taste wise. For the price, location and the fact that they require to pay and tip upfront, the experience was far than satisfactory. Will not be back around

The overall atmosphere is nice, relaxed design, some common areas to work. There were a lots of people working. The coffee was good. But at the same time no one cleaned our table after previous guests , which a minus, especially for tips they ask you automatically before even serving you. But the huge disappointment was a food. The portion was very little as for price paid . Like avocado tost is literally one bread slice with avocado muss on top of it. The other tost with cheese was very dry and not interesting to eat. I don't recommend this place, and wouldn't come back, especially with a coffee places choice around.

We went on a Saturday, there were tables available. We had a shakshuka and quesadilla. The shakshuka could have been a bit larger and more flavorful, the bread maybe more and flatbread. The quesadilla was tasty, did have a bit too many beans. As drinks, we had cappuccino and lemonade. The lemonade was good, the cappucinno not so strong. All in all, it is a good brunch place when in the area.

Italian restaurant
Located in the heart of Dorobanti, Grano has been a staple in the area for over a decade. What started as an Italian deli has now transformed into a renowned restaurant that specializes in traditional Italian cuisine, particularly from the northern regions. While they excel at serving classic dishes like carbonara and burrata, their menu also features a wide array of delectable options.
For both Italian expat and locals lounging for authentic Italian food, this is the place. Wine selection by the glass is a bit limited, but of quality. Overall, great place, with food on oar or better than in Italy. Great service as well. Parking can be tricky.

Amazing. Plus they have a great selection of wines even when you buy just a glass. And the waiter knew the wines and how to combine them with the food which in itself is great since în Bucarest there aren’t many that can give advice on wine tasting 😅.

Indoor & outdoor seating. The indoor room is decorated really nicely, you are surrounded by Italian products. Very atmospheric. Lots of interesting choices on the menu. We went for Branzino (104 lei) & Schnitzel (93 lei) a bottle of Soave was 135 lei. A glass of Prosecco was 35 lei. A cocktail 45 lei The service was exceptionally good. Pub
Restaurant
Curtea Berarilor is an authentic beer establishment that offers a wide variety of delicious drinks. The ambiance and atmosphere create a fantastic vibe, with polite waitstaff and great service. The selection of draught beers is impressive, and the food, though decent overall, shines in particular with their chicken schnitzel. However, the Romanian skinless sausages (Mici) may not be as enjoyable due to their lack of juiciness and flavor.
The place has a great, cozy vibe with an atmosphere that feels just like a classic pub. The food is absolutely delicious, with generous portions that are sure to satisfy. The large meat dish with beans in the photo is the Royal Pork Knuckle, and it’s definitely worth trying—tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The appetizer shown has a distinct Balkan flair, bringing authentic regional flavors to the table. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for hearty meals and a relaxed pub atmosphere!

Fantastic food, generous portions, good price. Excellent service. The music was good but it was all in English, would have been great to have Romanian music.

This restaurant is the first restaurant I ate in Romania and it set the standard in terms of food, service and atmosphere. Curtea Berarilor is an interesting place, it looks quite medieval, it's a nice warm atmosphere and you feel like eating something substantial. I wanted to eat something authentically Romanian with loads of meat and I got what I wanted. The staff were really lovely and friendly, they explained the menu and I instantly trusted them. I ordered a food platter for starters and a duck main. The food was absolutely delicious, washed down with a glass of beer. The food came really quickly which I was quite shocked because I ordered a lot. The staff made sure I was happy with my order. A photographer came over, wanting to take a picture of me, I obliged and said I could keep the photo for a price so I've got a photo fridge magnet as well 🤗

Curtea Berarilor in Bucharest is a nice place with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was polite and the service was good. The menu has a decent selection of Romanian dishes and local beers. The food was tasty and the prices were fair. Overall, it’s a good spot for a casual meal in the city.

Great food, but could definitely be seasoned better. At least I had salt at the table. The lamp was juicy and tender and the mash was delicious. Service worked, but not many smiles and not very personal. Great place to hang and get a bunch of food and beer 😊

Nestled in the heart of Bucharest, Locanta Jaristea has been a beloved establishment since 1991. Stepping inside feels like entering a time capsule of old Bucharest, with its vintage black and white photos adorning the walls and traditional woven decor. The extensive menu is not just a list of dishes but an immersive experience, with each item accompanied by colorful commentary. Despite the language barrier, guests are warmly welcomed and guided through their culinary journey.
A gem of a restaurant / banquet place in Bucharest! Exquisite food and service but what makes it unique is the ambiance. A décor from the beginning of the last century, an emotional welcome by the charming owner Kera Calita, a band of outstanding musiciens who will entertain you all night long with older and newer melodies, a singer that woo you with unforgotten songs. All came down to a memorable birthday celebration with family and friends.
George O — Google review
It is a legendary venue! Atmosphere is unbelievable. Vintage furniture and decor itself is making this place beautiful. I’ve got a platter of cottage cheese and it was really delicious. You will see the full set up on a table like in fine dining restaurant, but service is not about it. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only cause there is no lock and a paper in a washroom. Live band of gentlemen of respectful age is amazing

Best food, best service 🤗 best wine! Highly recommended
Saharthz — Google review
First of all, i arrived by myself on a quiet hour for dinner and had one of the best welcomes at a restaurant. The gentleman working there was excellent. Then because the traditional menu had no translation, I asked for a recommendation and was not even let to finish the sentence. In less than 10 minutes a juicy lettuce salad and an equally juicy plate of veal filets with gravy and oven potatoes was on the table. Needless to say how tasty it was. Also, I never thought that a Beck's beer would ever taste so good. Maybe that was because of the round ceramic jug that also kept it cool. Anyway there had to be a desert and that was also gracefully recommended. It was two pieces of an apple pie and a pear pie if I'm not mistaken, equally light and fresh that went so well with the last sips of the beer. There was no need for coffee. From the decoration of the restaurant you can understand that you are into one of those magical places, you understand this as soon as you get there. It is a classic place, remains totally present outside of time. But it also challenges your mind, makes it contemplate about history, and takes the imagination far.

A rainy evening and was almost empty. Food was like usual good and the service was impeccable.

Enjoyed a lovely evening in the "old Bucharest times". Perfect service, early 20-th century ambiance highlighted by the old Romanian songs played by Romani musicians. Convenient prices vs. service rendered.

Went as a group arranged by the tour company. The food was tasty with a selection of local food. The highlight was the entertainment. With the most unusual rendition of Tom Jones Delilah, I have heard.

The place looks great and the food was delicious. When they have it on the menu, the tripe spup is a must have. Sometimes they have live music. It's on the expensive side even though they offer quite simple dishes. No one ever asked for the vaccine certificate unfortunately.

The venue features a modern and sophisticated design, including a floating terrace perfect for outdoor gatherings and sunset cocktails.
I've heard some reports this place can be a bit snobbish, but our experience was only positive. The food was excellent, the service very good and the views over the lake at sunset ( helped by a comet ) were really nice. Definitely get a table overlooking the lake if you can.

Absolutely loved Biutiful by the Lake! The tomato salad with bread was such a perfect combo – fresh and full of flavor. After a long walk in the park, the pink lemonade was exactly what I needed – so refreshing. The view was beautiful and the service was excellent. Thank you for a great experience!

We visited on a Saturday around 3 PM as a group of four adults and two toddlers, all appropriately dressed for a casual afternoon outing. Despite the lounge being visibly empty—less than 10% occupied—we were told there were no available tables which felt exclusionary and unwelcoming to families with young children. To make matters worse, the hostess at the entrance spoke to us in a disrespectful tone, which added to the unpleasant experience. It felt as though children were simply not welcome, regardless of how quiet or well-behaved they might be. Very disappointing. Shame on you for treating families this way.

Wow...what a great place to wind down a hectic day. Food was really fantastic. Everything we order was just perfect. Waiters are very polite and can speak fluent English. Excellent vibe and views. A friend really recommended Biutiful and she was totally right. The food and drinks were excellent and the view of the lake is just amazing. I came without booking on a Saturday at 12 pm. It was totally empty but when I left around 1 pm the tables were starting to get busy. The breeze and calm are a great match, specially after a long walk around the lake. Didn’t try any local dishes, but a tasty salad with a local beer

I absolutely loved this dining experience. The simplicity of the setup made this place stand out, it's very organic and light and despite some of the pretentious patrons it is a great setting with views of the boating lake. I doubt the experience will be as great in the winter months as I imagine it will be very cold as the building is designed more for summer dining. The service was brilliant, the staff were very welcoming, friendly and courteous and understanding of my lack of Romanian language as it didn't seem to be an issue at all. The food..... AMAZING! Lack of chicken on the menu aside, the menu was varied and very well thought out. Once we had finally decided what to eat, there was zero disappointment. The food arrived hot, well presented and very flavoursome. A great setting for the large group of us, glad we booked in advance.

The Urbanist is a trendy men's clothing store in the Old Centre of Bucharest, known for its streetwear and sneaker collection. It also features a laid-back café-bar with a charming street terrace, perfect for enjoying summer days. The store attracts a hip crowd and doubles as a spot to catch up on the latest city trends. On weekends, it hosts DJ sets, making it an ideal place to start your night out.
This alternative/hip place and DJ (DRAO) saved our Saturday night (2 Aug 2025), literally. Away from old town's circus noise and pointless overcrowded/overlapping music, we ended drinking beers under this laptop-free, dub/electronica master DJ. He elevated our need to relax and rejuvenate after a tiring trip from Athens to a musical journey with tunes that perfectly matched the vibrant-coloured, quirky internal decor of this place. 5/5. 10/10. 100/100. Will definitely revisit, should we come to Bucharest.

Great cocktails prepared by friendly & cute bartenders. Make sure you stop by when DJ DragosH is mixing the perfect tunes for listeners of any age. And you can browse through the not very large, but well chosen collection of books and photoalbums, in case you get tired from dancing in the not very large inner space of the Urbanist. But the pedestrian street in front provides room enough and the enchanting music sounds great there, too, between the outside seating of the Urbanist 🛹🛼🛹🏙️🌁🌃 Bar 🥂🍷☕🍩🫂👨‍❤️‍👨💖🤗👴🏻♐💫💜.

8 years ago (2017 July) I wrote: A cool urban bar with great beers. One of the only places in Romania where you can find an IPA! Hipster feeling! Update 2025: It’s nothing like 2017. They make decent coffee, but they only offer macro brewed beer, and the volume is to high to chat with your friends. Disappointed. On the other hand, rest of Bucharest have developed and nowadays so many better places offers what The Urbanist was quite unique about in 2017. Photos: Beer is from 2017. Coffee from 2025.

The menu features delicious dishes that are both memorable and soul-satisfying. Customers have raved about the vegetarian burger made with beetroot and chickpeas, as well as the cheeseburger. The parmesan-paprika fries are also highly recommended.
Felt like surrounded by friends, the personnel was spoiling us! Seeing that I am pregnant, they baked the eggs just perfect for me, and they also made an ideal suggestion since I was craving sushi :) I got a deep fried portion of tempura shrimp sushi that were absolutely delicious! 100% recommend, cant't wait to visit again!

The service is so and so. The waiter didn’t seem too interested to ask if we would like another drink, after we finished our tea. We have been waving him over to ask him to bring another drink, while he was standing the longest while at another table to chat with someone he obviously knew. The dishes are okay. The salmon or the cheese over it smelled a bit strange therefore you could not really enjoy it. If you are on a lunch break from the office, be aware that given the fact that the place is small and the kitchen is integrated into it, without any doors, you might leave somewhat smelly after lunch. So take this in consideration in case you have business meetings afterwards.
Lua S — Google review
Expensive place on Calea Victoriei. During the week at tables outside it's very noisy due to high traffic. The food is at least 45 ron for anything. The burgers were a bit raw, but my tagliatelle with mushrooms and truffles had absolutely zero truffle taste, not even a little bit of inexpensive truffle oil, and they were very thin spaghetti instead of tagliatelle. Absolutely zero taste of anything. The waiter was correct, efficient, with zero smiles, absolutely no friendliness.

This was a lovely experience, very tasty burgers and pastas, and the staff just great. I went on my birthday and got a delicious surprise cake on the house!!! Great food in the heart of the city. Right on Victoria Street you can enjoy a great view, delicious food and refreshing drinks. The seats are not the most comfortable but this is just a detail. Order one of their outstanding deserts to enhance your experience.

The place is ok. Not really that cozy and comfortable. The food was good but we were taken by surprise the artificially colored buns (didn’t look that tasty), but still good nonetheless. Prices kind of steep though. Don’t know what’s up with that. The potatoes were good as well but i think we ordered just one portion because again, the prices, gesus. It’s like you’re going to some high class restaurant but with the furnishings of a local street food joint.

Unfortunate experience. I ordered a bowl with tuna fish. The rice was not cooked, and they kept insisting that it should be like this. However, I don’t think that crunchy rice is “al dente.” You have to battle with the waitress to explain that “sushi rice” from the description doesn’t mean it’s uncooked. Overall, the dish was not seasoned and quite plain. It’s interesting that even edamame can be made unappetizing. To make matters worse, they still wanted us to pay for the uncooked meal. Only after talking with the manager and the cook could the situation be barely managed. The avocado toast was okay. Ginger limo was too sour.

Tried the teriyaki chicken bowl and the beef with squashed potatoes. They were both good and the prices are very decent. Great Lebanese food in a manicured district of Bucharest. Sheltered Terrace seats available for smokers. Came as the lamp chops are really famous - didn’t disappoint with the succulence. This restaurant is a very nice and fancy location to chose when looking for a lebanese food experience. We pick 2-3 starters ( fatoush, hummus with pine seeds and some rolls) and 2 mains ( chicken coin vert and ras asfour beef). All were very good but pricey. Be prepared to spend at least 100 lei/per person at this restaurant and the portions ( especially the mains) were small. Overall a place that I recommend to check it out.

I would highly recommend this restaurant for the delicious and authentic Lebanese food. All the dishes we’ve tried here over the course of 3-4 meals we’ve had were impeccable. I especially enjoy the foul and adana kebab. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, offering suggestions and recommendations. For me, the only downside would be that they play loud pop music on the TV that is always on on the terrace. Maybe it’s a question of preference, but I’d rather be able to talk to the people I am having a meal with. It should be mentioned that the staff agreed to turn the music down a bit, but I really don’t see why they couldn’t play something softer and less abrasive.

This is hands down the best restaurant in Bucharest. 1. Food is exquisite - from the spicy shrimp to the ox cheeks, the tuna tartare or the duck confit, the pasta or the salads, everything is cooked to perfection and the produce is top notch. 2. Service is prompt and attentive - special shout out to Alexandra and Bianca who are absolutely amazing. 3. The wine list is world class. An insider tip: you can buy any wine bottle that’s not on the menu from the restaurant wine store around the corner (Ethic Wine), and they’ll serve it to you for a menial $7 corkage fee. During our 4 days in Bucharest, we explored 4 different wine bars, not excessive if you are wine enthusiasts, and the best overall experience was The Tasting Room, hands down! In 3 of the 4 the sommeliers were knowledgeable. But we were impressed by Alexandra's expert knowledge and willingness to open fresh bottles for us and on the mark recommendations per our wishes. If ever in Bucharest looking for a wine bar with excellent food, not just snacks, The Tasting Room is a not-to-miss place. Bonus: it is away from tourist spots, a calm, peaceful locale.
Debbie A — Google review
This must qualify as the worst service experience I ever had in Bucharest coupled with slightly oudated cold cuts, what a combo. There was nothing that the waitress got right tonight starting from a very rude annoyed attitude to laking any skill to serve in a wine bar. For starters, when you do not have a sparkling wine that you're asked for and decide to make another recommendation, you have to introduce the recommendation, provide some details on it and similarities in taste, provide price and only after agreed upon, offer to taste it. Wine bar, more of a aspiration than a wine bar. Beyond coming with the bottle, opening it, pouring it like the entire world was bothering her with no regard or interest to our likes and leaving the bottle on the table, they didn't even know how to place a bottle in a bucket in a manner that wouldn't disturb the client. How is this even a wine bar, ffs. Moving on, food wise, cold cuts were terribly outdated, cheeses were not as old, but still not great, nor for 100 lei for 200gr, do a partnership with Grano or any other charcuterie and cheese shop, because this was terribly bad. The bruschettas were ok. It's probably the best of the evening. Moving on with service, we had 2 more glasses of wine, after a bottle, no introduction, same annoying lousy pouring. And then we reach paying bill moment, and even here zero humbleness or kindness, yet a question about tips pops up as if to suggest a tip is expected, in yet again a lousy attitude and not accepting that we were there to pay the bill without being shamed into and tip for the worst service I had the misfortune to experience. Honestly girls, go get some education and manners, wine bar - get a staff that is prepared to raise to the name and service of a wine bar, and nonetheless - get fresh products!

Food was good. Staff were receptive, quick service. The breakfast smoothie was like wet sand, very very thick, needed a spoon to eat it and wasn’t that great. We sat in the garden, and were bitten black & blue by MOSQUITOES! There were SO many of them, we had to leave the place in a rush due to the damn mosquitoes! A few days later, & we have big red boils due to this, horrible experience!! There were also stray black cats roaming all around the garden. No music, it was eerily quiet for a restaurant, we had to talk in whispers! No vibe at all! Location was not easy to find, and we there were no restaurant name signs. We’re definitely not going back.

Breakfast restaurant
Coftale Specialty Coffee Shop is a must-visit spot in Bucharest, located in a beautifully restored 19th century French neoclassical mansion just a short ride away from the Old Town. The cafe has a retro vibe and offers beans from local coffee roasters, providing an array of coffee options including espresso, V60, syphon coffee, cold brew or Aeropress. You can also enjoy specialty coffee with Baileys and Jagermeister for an extra kick.
One of the best places for breakfast in Bucharest. A beautiful interwar house, with a welcoming courtyard and an exceptional sense of calm. The dishes are excellent and well-balanced, and the coffee is top-notch. The prices are surprisingly low for what you get! 2 breakfast, 2 capucino 140 LEI. A lovely spot with great food.
Blue D — Google review
The place is nice. The service is not done at the table unless you sit outside on the terrace, but you order directly at the bar. The food was good
Cristina D — Google review
Very nice breakfast options! The place is really cute and the service super friendly. You also get a huge water bottle for free at the table which is a very big plus, and also the options for drinks are plenty! The coffee is not the best but good either way. Would recommend! Also great place to study!
Andrei O — Google review
Amazing Cafe! Came here for breakfast and the scrambled eggs and meat lovers are delicious. And the coffee is excellent. We had the dirty coffee, flat double white and the sweet coftale was a standout but all of them were great with the special milk.
Claire D — Google review
Good coffee. Good food. They have a nice big garden and also the interior is cozy. I like the fact that is “laptop friendly”, so I can work from here sometimes.
Daniela — Google review
Unexpectedly amazing little place. We almost walked past it. It’s a true hidden gem. I had the poached eggs with avocado and bacon and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the meat lovers breakfast which was equally as perfect. The coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice were perfect accompaniment. Definitely worth a walk off the main tourist drag to have breakfast here.
Ballers R — Google review
What could be improved in my opinion: Sicilian green olives should be that or change the name in the menu; the hot drinks should be at least warm, not lukewarm; matcha recipe.
Dominique G — Google review
Cosy coffeeshop in a beautiful old house with a lovely garden. Although this place is not in the city centre, I came here on a Sunday for brunch and the place was almost full, so making a reservation in advance is advisable especially on the weekends. Nevertheless, the staff was very helpful and managed to get us a table very quickly. I ordered a cappuccino and poached eggs. The coffee was alright, however I didn’t find the food to be tasty. So,sticking to coffee is advisable. Many people come to work here, but personally I find the place too noisy.

Considered by many as one of the top establishments in Bucharest, Scovergaria Micai stands out as a street food stall/takeout spot rather than a traditional restaurant. Renowned for their delectable scovergi, this place is an absolute must-visit in the city. These heavenly pastries are truly divine and offer a unique culinary experience that cannot be missed.
We learned about Scovergi on one of our tours and wanted to get some. We saw this was one of the few places that came up when you searched on Google. There are so many options of Scoverga ot this establishment but we ended up ordering the Scoverga with sour cream and cheese. It ended up being so good that we got another Scoverga but with bellows cheese, bacon and red onion. Nice food and friendly employees, super busy as well but the line goes quickly. Also you can pay with cash or card here.
Josh B — Google review
We found this on Happy Cow and were so pleased to be able to try some vegan Romanian food. The scovergi was delicious, we also tried some of the baked goods from the counter-also delicious! Staff were super friendly and there's enough space to sit down. Would recommend to vegans and non vegans alike :)
Jemma G — Google review
The long line in front of the place caught my attention, so I decided to give it a try and I wasn’t disappointed. The lady at the cashier was very kind, and I tried ‏scovergâ with jam and walnut — it was delicious. I would definitely come back again.
Bara'a A — Google review
This place should become a tourist attraction. Very tasty, very caring. Constant line of customers. Advice to the owner: remove unnecessary goods from the main display case, they cover the faces of the sellers. Much of this place is based on the human warmth of the seller.
Александр Ф — Google review
The pastries were good, not too sweet, reminding very much of homemade ones. The lady who served us was nice. You can sit down inside or outside too. However I think the music was a bit bothering.
Orsi S — Google review
If you have a sweet tooth this is the place to go. This is one of the popular traditional pancakes you must try, there is so many choices in flavour , we got the plum filling ( No added sugar) with and without nuts and it was sweet enough.
KM L — Google review
I tried scovergi today. They were okay — decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. Given the long queue, I was expecting more. Next time I’ll skip.
Andreea D — Google review
The place is beautiful, the workers were really nice with us, and the scovergi were absolutely delicious! We ate the nuts, banana and nutella ones! (I ate two, because it was my last day in Romania and I was going to miss them, but one is more than enough). The taste reminds me a bit of Spanish churros. Foarte bun, mulțumesc!!

Food Hood in Bucharest, Romania is a trendy spot that embraces the North American concept of food trucks combined with bars and live music. The venue hosts various events such as yoga sessions, badminton games, and record fairs. It offers a casual atmosphere with outdoor seating and occasional live music performances. Modelier serves affordable burgers and cocktails, while Food Hood features food trucks, beer, and communal dining areas popular among local hipsters.
Super nice bar staff. They recommended local beers that were awesome, exchanged some money for us since ATMs are hard to find, and we bought some neat local jewelry for gifts. They let us hang out on the couches for over an hour with our baby. Overall an awesome place.

Nestled in the heart of Bucharest's Old Town, Cărturești Carusel is a breathtaking bookstore that has been meticulously renovated to create a stunning literary haven. The six-story building boasts a bright and airy interior, with balconies overlooking a soaring atrium. Visitors can explore tens of thousands of titles and find cozy nooks to immerse themselves in books. Additionally, the top floor houses a bistro for those seeking sustenance for both body and mind.
Visiting Cărturești in Bucharest is an absolute must-do, even if you're not a bookworm. Stepping inside the Cărturești Carusel location in the Old Town is a truly magical experience. The moment you walk through the door, you're immediately struck by the stunning, almost ethereal architecture. The space is a brilliant white, with sweeping, curving staircases that seem to float as they spiral up through the central atrium. It's a breathtaking, multi-story space with delicate columns reaching toward the glass roof and books lining the walls up to the very top. It's so much more than just a bookstore. Beyond the huge selection of books, which includes a great number of English titles, each floor feels like a new discovery. There are sections dedicated to all sorts of unique and creative goods, from beautifully designed stationery and quirky notebooks to designer pens, unique games, and an amazing array of local products. You can also find a fantastic selection of music and local wines. On the top floor, there’s a lovely cafe where you can grab a coffee or a drink, sit down, and just soak in the incredible view of the bustling streets below, a stark contrast to the quiet calm inside. It truly feels like a cultural haven, an amazing escape from the busy and loud streets outside. It's a place to get lost for a while, to simply wander and appreciate the beauty of the space. Cărturești is absolutely worth a visit just to experience the stunning atmosphere, and it's the perfect spot to find a unique souvenir or simply to enjoy a moment of inspiring calm. Also I wanted to exchange something without my receipt and they were so kind to allow for it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cărturești Carusel is one of the most beautiful bookstores I’ve ever visited! The architecture is simply stunning — bright, elegant, and full of charm. Every floor offers a unique atmosphere, combining books, art, and culture in a magical way. It’s not just a bookstore, but a true cultural experience in the heart of Bucharest. The café upstairs is a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the view of this magnificent space. A must-visit place for book lovers and anyone who appreciates beauty and creativity! 📚✨☕️

The entire structure is beautiful, designed specifically for visitors. If you're a book lover, you might want to stop and look at everything and want everything. Prices are also affordable for tourists. The only flaw is that the bar upstairs closes too early and from there there is a nice view

Cărturești Carusel is a wonderful must-see bookstore — and more than just books! It’s a great space to relax and read, with a beautiful café on the top floor. The design and architecture are stunning, making it very photogenic. There’s also a wide variety of books and other items, perfect for souvenirs or gifts. 😊
Keti U — Google review
This bookstore is amazing!! It’s super beautiful, has 4 floors and a huge selection of English books. The staff is super friendly, I found a book that was scratched and they immediately got me a new version from the back. The cafe on the top floor is cute, offers good pastries and a great view of the store. They also have a good offer of bookish merchandise.
Annabell F — Google review
It’s a nice library, although I wouldn’t say the most beautiful in the world like people describe it to be. The staff are attentive and there’s a cafe in the top floor, it’s a little expensive for average Bucharest prices, but I guess it compensates because you can sit and read a book while having coffee. The WiFi password is librarie

Furgoneta Street Chefs is a must-visit for street food enthusiasts. Their burgers, with quirky names like "Ala Adevarat" and "Ala de Capra," are not only creatively branded but also incredibly delicious. The size of the burgers is just right, satisfying cravings without being overwhelming. Customers have praised the flavors and quality of the food, particularly highlighting the unexpectedly good hot dog.
One of the best places to eat in Bucharest. Delicious burgers in decent prices and with great quality and taste. Approximately 10minutes waiting time in person, delivery depends of the courier's but available through different platforms. The compositions of the burgers are really good with interesting ingredients and can be adjusted at your request as needed. Possible additions of the products such us double portion of meat or other ingredients. After trying of different take away options in the area with my fiance we agreed that Furgoneta Street Chefs is the best! I can recommend you eating here and I love Ale Mare - double burger with amazing onion, tomato, cheese, sauce and other! Look at those photos.

Furgoneta! In the past best burgers in town, today veey big disappointment! Burger meet dry and very small, think as in mcdonalds cheqpest cheesburger for 35-39Lei. French fires frozen heated up - not ebst experience. Its a shame to chaarge almost 10 euro for burger than look like neighbour McDonalds. Not recommended 😣
Ja P — Google review
Best burgers i have ever eaten. I recommend them all(I only ate the onea with meat) . The guys that work here are nice and helpful. They have sauce bottlea on the table if you wish to add extra. Please be patient as it takes a few minutes they make it fresh none of that mcdonalds paste taste.
Catalin S — Google review
Food is actually good. But someone at the reception or kitchen has a problem with orders for delivery with English comments (very simple ones) - they intentionally messed up the order and even lefty a lovely note (see attached). While I do understand that need to adjust to local languages, maybe they should have rejected my order completely rather than delivering an incorrect order Never ordering at that particular place again… P.s. Thank you for your feedback and proposal but won’t risk retaliation…

All vegan casual food place mostly offering burgers, fries and salad. It wasn’t super busy on a weekday lunchtime but food was a little slow to arrive. The burgers were tasty enough, and huge! The fries and tasty and the beetroot salad was delicious. We didn’t try any of the many deserts available. The place is lacking some atmosphere, but worth a visit for a big, easy vegan meal.

It was a nice quiet place with options to eat inside, semi-outside and outside. The cream soups are all delicious and the vegan ice cream is so amazingly creamy. The other things on the menu are good, but could be made even tastier. Definitely nice to have an all-vegan option in town though. And one that is good also.

Excellent vegan burgers. Flavourful and not simply imitation meat. Not to mention the ginger lemonade. Superb!

It's an all vegan fast food restaurant, good armosphere. It has an inside and a covered area, but also some outside tables. Prices were ok. Be mindful, though, that fries come separate. The food tasted very good. The only disappointment was that the food was not prepared on the spot. Burgers were pre-cooked and re-baked/ heated, hummus and salads pre-wrapped.

Delicious vegan food and raw cakes! We wanted a small/ light breakfast and this was perfect (they have a range of dishes and larger / svaoury meals too). Chose the oat brownie and a raw fruit cheesecake. Absolutely divine! Also got a hot drink. These were served on the most beautiful leaf dishes! The menu via QR code has pictures next to each item and greys out what is not available / out of stock. Pretty handy. The place itself is very peaceful and cute! Service was friendly and quick.

Tired the Amazing veggie wrap, the happy cow burger and the tabouleh salad. All amazing and delicious. Fast, healthy and delicious option for a good price. The place is also very clean and with a nice atmosphere.

I am not vegan, but I love trying vegan foods - especially because they are easy on my stomach. The pulled jackfruit was tasty, although I would’ve appreciated more sauce or spices. The cake itself was very nice (lemon & chia seeds), but the crust became overwhelming dry towards the end because of the nuts I believe. Lemonade was great, and so was the service. Overall, I would recommend this place and definitely return to try new things. Conveniently located near airport bus pick up (bud 738). I spent around 74RON for my meal, which seemed like a fair price.

The staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed—especially if you're lucky enough to be around at a less busy time, perhaps on a weekend afternoon. Good coffee, unfortunately lacking in service quality - very little space, coffee served in paper cups, no water provided. The fig bread was dry and crumbly, perhaps a bit old. The place has potential, so here are some areas of improvement: - provide sitting mats/pillows so that people can comfortably sit outside - put on some music so that the outside space is more lively, making it feel less awkward that people are sitting on the pavement - water & quality pastry would complement the excellent coffee perfectly

This tiny coffee shop is always busy. They serve speciality coffee and it seems to be the go to coffee shop for this area of the neighborhood. People are friendly, it seems they know mostly everybody and I always feel I am walking into someone's social gathering to ask for a cup of coffee. The coffee is always freshly ground and it is high quality. So far I have tasted some great South American blended brews. Their home-made cold brew with a bit of lemon and tonic is also tasty and their matcha cappuccino energizing.

It is a cosy place to eat, the atmosphere is welcoming and it is not touristy. The servers are all polite and friendly. The menu does not offer a lot of options, but the meals served all sound good. Papanasi was excellent. I had candied duck leg which was delicious, I tried also Sheep meat. The beverages are a little pricey. There is also a beautiful loyal guest here - a brown cat with no tail ;)

Good atmosphere in the fall, imagine it would be amazing during summer. Fantastic bilingual wait staff as well. Ordered weekend special fish and chips w/ papanași for desert. The fish was a little colder than expected, however no chili sauce or ketchup was required = good fish and chips. Bonus points to the house tartar sauce. The papanași... were a huge portion for a solo diner, but has quickly turned into one of my top 5 deserts worldwide. I'll be back at least 1 more time during the week to try a non-special menu item.
