Brasserie
Restaurant
Harry's is a stylish and sophisticated restaurant located in a historic building in the Wyck district. Known as 'little Paris,' this area exudes charm and elegance. The restaurant prides itself on using ingredients from its own garden, resulting in a weekly changing menu featuring delectable dishes. Guests can indulge in fine dining with options ranging from refined main courses to oysters and an array of cheeses.
Great experience in a very warm day. Cozy and quiet lunch. Maybe the kitchen can concentrate a bit more on the presentation of the food, but everything was very tasty. Thanks also for the nice compliment :)

disssgustingggg is an understatement for this restraunt. we went with high hopes but left disgusted! food was tragic. taste was off. salad looked as if my nephew was doing an experiment with everything that was left in the pantry. just when we thought that it couldnt get any worse, we got served raw chicken that was clearly pink and undercooked. we addressed the matter immediately, and expected apologies and the matter to be taken seriously. however to our suprise, the waiter who appeared to be a male, had excused this tragedy, claiming that "the chicken is slow cooked", leaving us absolutely stunned with his alarming level of confidence . to the best of our knowledge, we know that properly slowcooked chicken should be fully cooked through, tender and safe to eat! we immediately told the waiter that the state the chicken came in was a "serious health threat" - the last thing we would want on a holiday is salmonella. and he said he'd tell the chef. after coming back again, he once again excused and insisted on this nonsense statement, saying its how its supposed to be due to the cooking method. raw chicken is never how "its supposed to be"

Had a very nice lunch here, I took the 4 menu courses. Unfortunately it was not arranged with starter-main-dessert style, but more like pick any dishes you want, but the dishes are really good, super tasty and strong flavour. The cocktails also very nice. However got a mixed feeling when the wifi is not working at all in where I was seated, I was having LDR anniversary, luckily I had hotspot, we were struggling a bit, but nevertheless the experience and the lunch overall are perfect. The staff are kinda kind, but they are professional 🙌🏻 I got a special dessert cake for my anniversary, and I really appreciate that. Thanks!

Makes sense why everyone loves this place in Maastricht. Food is delicious. Waiters are a bit aggressive by folding the napkins when you stand up, and sometimes felt like they were rushing us compared to older not-student-looking people. The experience was still good.
Gabriel A — Google review
Food is great but the service is evern better. Jill is the host who took care of us. It is the Bday dinner from my Boyfriend. Jill gave as such an amazing experience. She made our evening really enjoyable.
Rewat U — Google review
We had the pleasure of dining there during our short visit in the city. The dining area is really cozy while the service was really on point. We selected a couple of starters and the suggested cut. Everything nicely presented and the variation of flavors, spot on! Good job!
Panos A — Google review
Had cocktails before going for dinner. They were really refreshing and different. Beautiful ambiance with soft light and music. We really enjoyed it and will be back to have dinner sometime.
Diana D — Google review
Friends read reviews and all were good . We were warmly greeted and shown to our table with an open kitchen view , impressive. Food was amazing from sardines to pork belly with okiyamiaki to squab , all plated superbly , another highlight was our waiter , the delightful Pieter , very knowledgeable and such a friendly personality !!

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Beluga Loves You is a top-notch dining destination in Maastricht, offering lavish dishes with innovative twists. The restaurant overlooks the picturesque river Maas and has earned two Michelin stars for its exceptional cuisine. For a taste of traditional local specialties, visitors can head to In Den Ouden Vogelstruys, the city's oldest cafe, or Eetcafe Ceramique for hearty rabbit dishes.
We went from Nijmegen only for dinner at Beluga Loves You and celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and the night was unforgettable! With the snow falling outside (middle of January), it felt like the perfect night! The food was incredible—I even tried caviar for the first time and egg duck! Every dish was beautifully presented, we paired every dish with wine and non-alcoholic drinks. As someone who’s gluten-free, I really appreciated how well they accommodated me without missing out on any flavors. The service was good, the ambiance was cozy yet elegant, and overall, it was just a great experience. My first visit to a Michelin restaurant was nothing short of extraordinary, for the place and for the company!
Ashelén T — Google review
What a phenomenal experience! From the first small bites with a fabulous glass of champagne to the final dessert course, every bite was spectacular. The service was impeccable and the wine pairing was on point. I can’t say enough about how good this meal was. Every dish was so thoughtfully prepared and executed perfectly. All of the servers where on top of of every part of the service. Couldn’t recommend this more if you are looking for an elevated dining experience in the Netherlands. The real bonus was sitting at the chef’s counter and watching how a well oiled machine works. So impressed!
Gregg S — Google review
Neglect and slowness From the moment we walked through the door, our expectations were very high due to the customers' feedback. I believe my wife and I share the same perception that the flavors are varied and harmoniously rich. However, there is something that we kept repeating in our conversation throughout the experience. We’ve had different experiences at other renowned restaurants and we understand that the steps are complicated and take time, but I think, in this case, they were excessive. We even considered leaving before the desserts. In conclusion, they could handle the situation better by understanding that at a Michelin-starred restaurant, the management of such situations should be more fluid and transparent with customers. This is not a criticism, but I am a chef at a 5-star hotel, and I want to be critical, especially to preserve gastronomy and customer service. Thank you
Sergio B — Google review
Over my last 10 starred restaurants this one comes very strong on the Top 2. The atmosphere, overseeing the river, very large room, turns out both classy and natural. Welcoming with apéritive in the lobby before food at the table should be mandatory everywhere. Excellent concept. The mushrooms topped dark bread was fantastic. Service was extremely friendly, doing lot of efforts in different languages. The food was very well structured. The first "wow" effect with the cold appetiser is followed by a very complex fish assembly, before the excellently cooked veal. Cheese selection was completely satisfying but might be weaker compared to the rest of the menu. When coming to Holland one might have too high expectations on this. Overall definitely one of the best price to quality and experience ratio in Europe (benchmarking with many comparable places in different countries).

Exquisiet! Everything BLY do is just tremendous. Two star dining, for sure.
F. — Google review
My experience in this restaurant was more than amazing! They focus on crafting a great food presentation which gave as the first good impression and when we tried the food the taste was fantastic!!! My friend told the waiter that she has specific requirements for food and the Chef just prepared her what she wants that wasn't even in the menu! They are just an adorable staff I have to say and they deserve more than one Michelin star :)

Over the top experience for all the senses. It's a place to enjoy food as a work of art. The wine pairing was remarkable as well as the kind service, the beluga team made us feel special all the time.

Bistro
Bistrot-Bar 't Wycker Cabinet is a classic French bistro with a touch of the Mediterranean, offering an authentic and cozy atmosphere in Maastricht. The restaurant serves traditional French dishes like Cote de Boeuf, Moules de Bouchots, escargots, and profiteroles. Additionally, it features a chic cocktail bar with a wide selection of cocktails inspired by both classic recipes and modern techniques.
Very nice ambience, fast and kind service. The flammkuchen were large and well prepared. The special truffle pasta was very good. For dessert, we ordered the homemade mousse, it was amazing.
Subhali S — Google review
Bistrot-Bar ‘t Wycker Cabinet offers a delightful experience in the heart of Maastricht’s Wyck district. The service was exceptional—attentive and welcoming, making me feel right at home. I indulged in a slice of traditional Limburgse rijstevlaai (rice pudding pie), a local specialty that’s both creamy and subtly sweet. The cozy ambiance, combined with the charm of the historic surroundings, made for a memorable visit. Whether you’re stopping by for a coffee, a meal, or a treat, this spot is a must-visit for authentic regional flavors and warm hospitality.
Emerson — Google review
The staff are friendly and attentive when needed, but not when you want to chill. Recommendations were spot on. The Filet de Bar "Croûte aux Herbes et Chorizo" was great!
David K — Google review
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Maastricht. The service is always warm & friendly - attentive without being cloying - and the food delicious. The menu varies slightly by season and they always offer seasonal specials. My husband generally chooses the toast poulet & avocado or the Caesar salad and I am obsessed with the flammkuchen Gruyère and their French onion soup. Honestly, though, you can’t go wrong here. Every single thing we’ve ordered here has been a hit with us.

Returned multiple times, tried various dishes and I haven’t found one thing to complain about. Coffee, soup, burger, bread dishes etc all maintains consistent quality. Also quick with service.

Good food, delicious flammkuchen and had the most delicious caprese ravioli with sundried tomatoes and pistachio. Recommend the pasta and gruyére flammkuchen. My parents and I were impressed with these dishes.

I ate at this restaurant with a friend. We payed separately as our company paid for our lunch. I asked my receipt (not the total) but for these I paid. The guy that serviced us told me that I have to send an e-mail in order the logistic part of their company see their system and that they have the ability for this. I sent an e-mail and they replied that this is not possible. Now I have to apology to my company because of their unawareness. They do not even know between the staff what they can do and what not!!!

Tapas bar
Café Madrid is a cozy tapas bar located near Vrijthof in Maastricht, offering a variety of Spanish tapas dishes as well as other delicious options. The restaurant is known for its welcoming atmosphere and flag-adorned entrance, making it a go-to spot for authentic tapas dining in the city. Visitors praise the tasty sangrias and attentive staff, although some find the prices slightly high for the tapas.
Ah, allow me to introduce myself – I am Avelino, hailing from the glorious land of Spain, and if you ever find yourself yearning for an authentic Spanish café experience far from the Iberian Peninsula, look no further than Café Madrid! It’s an absolute gem that mirrors the essence of my favorite local café in Spain. From the delightful azucarillos and mouthwatering biscuits to the exquisite coffee (Cantunambu), and even the invigorating gym (Larios) – it’s a piece of España right here! And let’s not forget the legendary churros – a true Spanish indulgence – all served with impeccable, top-tier service. The ambiance? Well, darling, it’s a solid 10! The vibe oozes that warm, welcoming charm we Spaniards are so famous for, and the location? Simply perfect. And yes, the staff speaks Spanish (the charming, blonde gentleman behind the bar is an absolute maestro), making you feel right at home with every sip and bite. Café Madrid is a true slice of Spain, and I wholeheartedly recommend it – 100% guaranteed to transport you straight to the heart of España.

Delicious food! And the staff were incredibly kind and went out of their way to make us happy for our anniversary!!
Emily C — Google review
In the restaurant, we ordered a charcuterie/cheese board, Iberian ham croquettas and a tortilla. The croquettas and tortilla were really excellent! Tasty and the tortilla was well cooked! As for the board, it contained products that were each more excellent than the last, from French, Spanish and Dutch cheeses to charcuterie, everything was very good! We had a very good moment with my friend! Thank you
Blaak G — Google review
Not welcoming place, they made us leave our table after telling us we could stay as long as we wanted. Will never return and will not recommend it to anyone. Seems foreigners are not welcome there. Sequence of events: 1. We arrived at the bar and asked one of the waiters if they had any table free for a drink 2. They asked us to wait so they could check a reservation 3. The waiter told us “the reservation has been cancelled you can stay as much as you want”. We were only going to have a drink, so we ordered 1 drink each. She took away the reservation sign that was on the table. 4. Halfway through our drinks another waiter came asking us to leave the table because “the people from the reservation had arrived”. We asked to allow us to finish our drinks, less than half left by that time but she did not allow us. Her proposal was to put our beers on a stool next to the door, bothering other people and with our coats on our hands, no place on the coat stand. We paid and left. Another couple arrived before we left, and they were told that their table was not ready because the clients had not finished yet, they were asked to wait whilst reading the menu. Could they not have done the same with us? Was the reservation not really cancelled? At this point I do not care, I felt that if I was a local, this would not have happened to us.
Mercedes A — Google review
The service took too long bring our food, between the 2 plates took more than half ab hour, every time we asked for our second plate, they say, it is coming, even the restaurant was not full. Food was ok but the sangría no, I do not recommend, wine ok.
Denis C — Google review
Great vibe, great food, great service. A little bit crowded but it's normal. I recommend !

Easy to get to place and lovely interior. The menu had loads of options, especially lots of vegetarian options as well. We ate for two and the price was lower than we had expected.

Pieke Potloed is a cozy restaurant located in Maastricht, offering a taste of classic countryside cuisine with a touch of style. The eatery celebrates the rich gastronomic heritage of the region by serving up traditional dishes that pay homage to Limburg's culinary identity. From hearty stews to savory pies, each dish captures the essence of Maastricht's traditional cuisine.
The food was delicious! I was there for lunch yesterday with 3 friends, ohhh and the capuchino with extra delicious sweets. Very friendly service, but what impressed us the most was a young man working there, paying a lot of attention to the clients as if he could read our minds, then we saw him helping a lady who seemed disabled to reach the toilet. We all awe what a sweet person.
Maria P — Google review
Fantastic place with really excellent regional specialities. We had em all. Onion soup, Asparagus soup, beef stew, pickled rabbit, and when we wondered if we could get something for our dog (who had been welcomed with open arms) chef did a beautiful salmon steak without sauce etc and they unilaterally chose to make it half price! All three of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Though i suspect we’ve made a rod for our own backs re the hound! Did i say that the service was more than excellent. Loved this place
Reason R — Google review
The salad was good. The meat in the skewers was dry. The place is covers with trashy plastic flowers. Surfaces were dusty. They’ve covered the beautiful brick wall with ugly pictures. Plastic broken flowers on the tables. The lunch menu is interesting with local dishes, but the dinner menu is really boring. A place with alot of potential.
Denise G — Google review
My first compliment is for the great serving attitude the staff has: from the person who welcomed us without a reservation and made an effort to give us a place where we hoped to be seated, to the waitress who graciously dealt with my “extra side dish” wishes. The second compliment is to the chef. His/her Salmon Filet with potato gratin with a secret (broccoli) ingredient was so mouthwatering, so I had to order another one! 😇 Thank you very much for making our final dinner in Maastricht a success!
Katja S — Google review
My lowest ever review. Came in drawn by highly praised reviews. Place looks really good, nice setting, great building and fabulous inner court. However, staff seamed very distracted by something, drinks were served smaller than should have been and then staff totally forgot to ask or offer anything else. Can’t comment on food because I didn’t get a chance to try anything.

The service was good and the food was ok. Tried the zoervleis (beef stew) for the first time, surprisingly decent. They also have a nice selection of tap beers.

Modern European restaurant
Café de Bóbbel is a classic café in Maastricht, known for its delicious food and as the perfect spot to start your evening. The menu may be familiar, but the quality is top-notch. The bar takes center stage in this European-style café, where locals gather to enjoy Dutch classics and a lively atmosphere. It's a popular local spot with a vibrant crowd and an authentic ambiance. Additionally, it's one of the most beloved cafes in Maastricht.
It was very hard to find an unoccupied table here at Maastricht during King’s Day but we managed to get a table at Café de Bóbbel (which was a huge surprise as I questioned how this great place isn’t full during this Saturday evening:) Mussels are the absolute-must-have! Also, you must order their bouillabaisse, which was full of flavours🍲 Additionally, we order an amazing steak tartare and a portion of spaghetti with truffles. Both meals were delicious! If you are looking for a place to have a great lunch or dinner, I highly recommend paying Café de Bóbbel a visit!

Staffs was really friendly and nice. We went during lunch hour and had a sandwiches burger. Tastes are fine and there are other choices too but personally felt the others less interesting. However, didn’t manage to try their mosselen so probably will be returning for another try!

We went in one evening in the recent heatwave, just fancying something lite. We has D a cheese board and a charcuterie board, with wine and beer. It was exactly right and served by a really nice, friendly member of staff. Highly recommended

We had the most amazing cocktails in this cosy pub. The day after we went for lunch, fabulous mussels and nice variation on tuna salad on Swedish wrap. Best service in town!
Marnix W — Google review
Very nice restaurant with great service. Beautiful interior with a central bar location. Nice selection of food and drinks. Main courses were mostly just over 20 Euros, and drink prices were very reasonable. Raymond is an excellent host, and the entire staff is responsive and efficient.
Joel T — Google review
The food was delicious! The main course was amazing, and the soup was incredibly rich and tasty. French fries were just the right amount of salty, definitely will come again!
Yixuan ( — Google review
My partner and I had an utterly scrumptious lunch here today; the service was sharp, food delicious (and took the right amount of time to come to us after ordering), the environment was comfortable and the bill was very reasonable considering everything had been on point. Would recommend and hope to go again! Edit: upon returning once again on another visit to Maastricht, we had a scrumptious feast, enjoyed by several drinks. So glad that the service and quality has been maintained!
Travel T — Google review
We had moules avec de frites which were good. Not great but good. What bothered us was that other people around us ordered later than us and got the food earlier. We waited 30 minutes for the escargots and another 40 minutes for the moules which is too long and not acceptable.

Coffee shop
Van Wijck is a popular spot in the Wyck district of Maastricht, offering a variety of dining options from breakfast to high tea and take-away. The chef's attention to detail is evident in the flavorful and colorful dishes as well as their presentation. With an early opening time, it's an ideal place for breakfast or a morning coffee. The establishment also boasts a fantastic La Marzocco espresso machine for authentic Italian coffee experiences.
Love the outdoor seating, and love the espresso drinks even more. I will forever be chasing an eggs Benedict as good as the one I had here, as that hollandaise sauce over that sourdough was divine. If you do sit outside, just walk in before you sit and give a wave to the staff so they know to come out and check on you/order.
Samuel Y — Google review
This place is usually quite busy, especially on weekends, but it’s definitely a great spot for breakfast. Even though there was no table available when we arrived, we only had to wait about 5 minutes. There are plenty of tables, so one frees up quickly—no need to worry. The tables are placed quite close to each other, but if that doesn’t bother you, it shouldn't be an issue. For the quantity, presentation, flavour, and service you get, it’s definitely worth it. The coffee is very good and well prepared. Nothing extraordinary, but still good. The food, on the other hand, is simply fantastic—delicious and beautifully presented. The bathrooms are clean, and the interior is lovely. I do feel that it is a franchise, but it doesn’t disappoint. The menu is quite extensive. If you don’t know Dutch or English, it may feel a bit overwhelming, but worst case, you can always use Google Translate.

This is THE PLACE TO BE for a morning coffee and healthy bowl. It made me want to wake up everyday to have breakfast in the breezy and fresh cobblestone streets of maastricht. We tried the yogurt bowl and the mango bowl. Both very flavorful, generous, super fresh fruits and crunchy home made granola that topped it all. Must try! We also tried the egg wrap, very filling and tasty.
Widiane L — Google review
I had the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and it was absolutely fantastic! The flavors were fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The cozy atmosphere and attention to detail in both food and service make this place a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Captain M — Google review
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately the staff’s attitude made the experience less enjoyable. When we arrived it was full, so we said we were happy to wait. However, the staff told us—rather rudely—that we could not sit while waiting and directed us to stand in a particular spot. This created a poor impression at the start. While the food and setting are very good, the service left much to be desired.
Nasmina A — Google review
Maybe they had a bad day, but the food wasn’t good. Eggs benedict had extremely salty sauce. Pancakes tasted like sad microwaved bread ( couldn’t finish them). Cappuccino and smoothie were good. Presentation of the food is beautiful.

Perfect spot for brunch! I had the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and avocado, as well as the strawberry pancakes — everything was absolutely outstanding! A great find, with fresh ingredients and lovely presentation. I’ll definitely be coming back without hesitation!

The food was great! We got the eggs benedict /van wyck eggs. They make one of the best hollandaise sauce I’ve ever had. They did overdid it with the smoked salmon on my bread but that’s more of a personal preference. The coffee and matcha are decent. All in all great place for breakfast/brunch.

Cocktail bar
Restaurant
Perched atop the Eiffel building, Bold Rooftopbar offers stunning views of Maastricht while you savor a delightful meal or sip on cocktails. The bar opens from midday, serving up excellent coffee and lunch options, and transitions into an evening hotspot with a diverse dinner menu and an extensive selection of cocktails. Situated in the developing Sphinxkwartier district, this hidden gem provides a unique experience in a historic industrial setting.
My friend and I had a lovely meal together. We enjoyed fries with truffle, a Caesar salad, and beef carpaccio, accompanied by two glasses of wine. The atmosphere outside was incredibly cozy, making the experience even more enjoyable. It was my friend’s first time trying these dishes, and he absolutely loved them. If you have friends or family visiting Maastricht for the first time, I highly recommend this place!
Duygu Y — Google review
I gave it two additional tries after the first visit in hopes the poor customer service the first time was a one time event. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the fantastic views are not worthy of the very poor customer service. I would pay the high prices for mediocre food for the view, but the way we were “greeted”, and served our drinks and food made me feel frustrated each time we left. It almost feels like they don’t actually want customers coming to their restaurant. There are many places in Maastricht that have beautiful view (on ground level) with fantastic customer service and food.

Great bar, amazing view, pretty good cocktails, especially pornstar martini. Must visit, for sure!!

Food really good, really nice location. However it took them 40 minutes to take our food order at lunchtime. We had to ask them to come and take our order. When the food came it was wrong so they took it away and then had to bring it back correct. The food was very tasty when it did arrive.

nice view and very friendly staf! We had 1 fries rendang and 1 falafel salad for two persons and it was more than enough👌and good taste.

The view is amazing, we had a very beautiful sunset last time! Workers are friendly service is fast. The nachos are our fav and the drinks are okay! But we think some dishes/drinks are a little overpriced, I guess you pay for the vibe:) It's an enjoyable place!
Merve Ö — Google review
The food, cocktails and view are great. But what really made our experience unforgettable was our host, server and entertainer Lexi. Thank you so much for adding your spark to our amazing evening.
Chris — Google review
This rooftop bar offers a fantastic setting with beautiful views, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed evening. However, I’d recommend avoiding peak hours, as it can be difficult to find a spot then. The drinks are well-made and enjoyable, but they’re a bit on the expensive side. The food is also tasty and nicely presented, though the portions are a little too small for the price. Overall, it’s a great place to unwind, but be prepared for the premium pricing and timing your visit wisely for the best experience.

Had a great Sunday lunch at the place. The place was running full so it took sometime to get a seat and the food. But the food was great though weirdly they were initially stingy about giving tap water though later gave a glass.

We were sitting on the terrace and it took a long time when the waiter was finally outside. Took quite some time for him to come back with the menu and even longer before he came back to order. Probably it was just busy or understaffed I don't know but we were annoyed by the waiting times. Jenever was good though, luckily!

Housed in a former brewery, this cozy tavern offers an array of Belgian specialty beers and delicious local dishes. With its warm atmosphere and delectable offerings, it's a must-visit for beer enthusiasts and those craving authentic Belgian cuisine.
Myself and two friends had a layover in Maastricht before starting our return to Texas last week. Ive spent a lot of time in Maastricht over the past 25 years but had never tried this place. The staff was very attentive, The food was excellent. After we finished eating we discovered the inside had AC and we grabbed a seat right beside the kitchen. We quickly noticed the what a tight kitchen the chef was running. Everything was spotless and the young chef was on top of his game. One of the better run kitchens Ive ever seen. We complimented him as we left. If life allows me I will return to Maastricht and visit De Gouverneur again.

Cheese cubes. Spare ribs. Calamari. Delicious! Staff/service is wonderful. Good music. Atmosphere is VERY cool! Busy place, and I know why... If you don't make reservations, still stop by; we did not have reservations and were able to get a 2- person table.

De Gouverneur is our go-to spot to unwind or grab a bite when in Maastricht. Good food, good location, good staff! Pros: > Their spare ribs are the best in Maastricht compared to Oak34, Carnal, and Guacho's. Hands down! > The waiting time for food is decent, despite having a lot of customers. > The bar design inside is cool! > Has a lot of seating both indoors and outdoors > Their staff are professional, friendly, and fast Cons: > Breaks the nice atmosphere when it gets crowded. It can get noisy and you bump to other guests.

One of the best cafes, if not the best cafe, in Maastricht. Voluminous and varied beer menu. From bottles to taps there’s a beer here for you. Tasty, quick menu options. Excellent and friendly staff members. Classy and cool vibe. The beer always comes fresh and with a clean glass and the food is always delivered prompt and warm.

A very relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter is very knowledgeable weigh his recommendation of beer which I appreciate a lot. The food was excellent. It was an overall wonderful experience.
Nils P — Google review
A fantastic bar, beer selection is the best I’ve seen outside of Belgium, and everything I asked for was in stock. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed both inside and out. Plenty of helpful servers, my fellow customers were also very pleasant, nobody appeared to be there just for the kick of the stronger beers, again that’s not always the case in Belgian beer bars. It’s not a far walk from the market. I recommend you visit this bar, wish it was in Scotland.

De Bisschopsmolen is a historic watermill located just a short walk from the city center, along the Jeker River. The mill has been in operation since the seventh century and now houses a popular bakery where visitors can purchase delicious breads and pastries or enjoy them in the cozy cafe. Guided tours of the mill are also available for those interested in learning about its millennium-old flour production process.
Must visit. The coffee, sandwiches, people, atmosphere ... Everything is amazing here. Even the locality is right out of an 80s postcard. But, reserve a table. The place is extremely crowded and everyone wants to eat here.

Visited couple times and i won’t be lying when i said: reserve before coming (if possible) because the place is small yet everyone wants to eat vlaai here. Other pastries also available (broodjeworst, also a favorite from this place). Recommended to pack some pieces home for your loved ones because you haven’t visited maastricht without vlaai from their place.
Adinda — Google review
Tucked away in the heart of Maastricht, Bisschopsmolen is a charming bakery that combines local tradition with warm hospitality. Known for its freshly baked sourdough bread, pies, and cookies, the bakery stands out for the remarkable freshness of its products. Pies are baked throughout the day, ensuring that each slice tastes as if it just came out of the oven. Next to the bakery, the inviting cafeteria offers a wide selection of pie slices, sandwiches, and beverages. During multiple visits, I had the pleasure of trying both vegan pies and vegan sandwiches, each one consistently delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The staff are not only knowledgeable about their products but also genuinely helpful and accommodating, which enhances the overall experience. Bisschopsmolen is undeniably popular, so expect a lively and bustling atmosphere. Seating can be limited, but the tradition of table sharing adds to the friendly and communal feel. Just ask politely and you’ll likely find a spot. What makes this place even more special is its setting. Adjacent to and behind the cafeteria lies the Wasserrad, a beautifully preserved watermill that underscores the historical charm of the location. It’s well worth taking a moment to explore. Verdict: Bisschopsmolen is more than a bakery. It’s an authentic Maastricht experience. Come for the pies, stay for the atmosphere, and don’t miss the watermill.

This place is always nice to sit. Simple but good. When on the other side of the river it's a good place to have a drink or two.
Emma G — Google review
I am no drinker by any stretch of the imagination and never go out drinking in the UK because basically - pubs - which ones are left because a lot of them are closing down, are not the most inviting of places, especially if you are not a local. They can be quite hostile if you are not a local but when walking past Zondag one night during my stay in Maastricht. I saw happy people having a nice time on the outside tables. So, I thought I would take a chance and I ventured inside to have a beer. The bar was staffed by three friendly guys, service was swift and the beer was good. My beer was actually served in an old fashioned British pint glass with a handle - something I hadn't seen for at least 30 years in a British pub. So, I was taken to my environs immediately. So, when it came to payment. Their card reader wouldn't take my card and the friendly barman shrugged and said cheerfully 'We have problems with British debit cards unfortunately' and I said 'well, I have a Chinese debit card, let's try that!' which made him laugh, it made me laugh too as it had less chance of working than my British card but actually, the Chinese debit card kind of works OK in the Netherlands but it is a bit more hit-and-miss than my British bank card as you can imagine (for the record - we tried the Chinese debit card - it didn't work!). The way the bar staff at Zondag dealt with this problem and the solutions they offered impressed me so much that I am on here writing about it and am happy to give them full marks for their service, friendliness and understanding. Thankfully, my British debit card started motoring on the second attempt and I managed to pay for my drinks. What would have happened in the UK if that happened? Maybe death, dirty looks, comments about my dearly missed, deceased mother? More than likely! The chilled out response from my friends in Zondag? Doubtful! So, full marks to all staff at Zondag! Thank you for your understanding and may you have many more happy evenings with your wonderful patrons.
Carlos W — Google review
A nice place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. I really appreciate their wide selection of non-alcoholic drinks - it's not your usual Coke & Sprite. Their kombucha is especially tasty (really sour). The food is also pretty decent, I tried the tortilla de patatas - it was nice but a bit bland and cold. The only thing that really bothers me is their service. I went several times and they barely come to your table once. After that they never come back, even if they are not busy at all. It seems that they do not really care about the customers, which I find annoying. If it weren't for their bad service, the place itself deserves 5 stars. Unfortunately, it ruins the whole experience, so if you don't mind, give it a try.

We could not have asked for a more perfect evening. Very friendly and welcoming staff, three homerun dishes and the perfect ambiance. A truly wonderful experience in the heart of Maastricht. The food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and attentive. We had the 6 course dinner and it was superb. Carolina C — Google review
We had an overall lovely experience. Unique location, great food, wine and presentation. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The service was truly great. We would recommend Onglet and think they will probably receive a Michelin star soon. However there were a view things we personally missed a bit; The chefs welcome was very tasty. Great bread, butters and one charcuterie. We would have loved a couple of different charcuterie’s to taste as it is a “butcher’s place. And preferred to have some steak after the first 2 courses. All dishes were haute cuisine style, which we love but we would have liked if it switched off between haute cuisine dishes and a good piece of steak. This was only the case at the very end; a steak to share. We have to mention that there is an option to choose pieces of meat as add on to the tasting menu. We didn’t choose that at first, as we thought there must be a lot of meat coming up already. The tasting lasted a bit long (3 hours for 6 small to medium size dishes) which also made us skip ordering more meat towards the end. We closed our meal with the cheese tasting; which was a lovely selection.
Lorin M — Google review
Even with (partial) corona lockdown this little place should be on your to do list. Grab a couple of the amazing sandwiches to go, order a nice bottle of wine and have your own fancy lunch. If the sandwiches are an indication, the (hidden) restaurant must be great as well. As Onglet is a butcher store, begane/ vegetarians might want to skip this place. The rest of you, have fun...

Super lovely place in the centre of Maastricht. Very varied menu, loads of unique flavours and combinations, very well executed and a true food journey. Loads of little sharing dishes that are brought consecutively, so this is a great place to go on a romantic date or when you truly want a long, nice evening (as it did take about 3 hours). Absolutely delicious though and highly recommend it!

Sometimes you find something that you did not expect and were not looking for, that just makes you go "wow!". That is what happened when I looked in the window of this deli, then when I tried some of their delicious food! One of the best coffee shops in town! Super cozy, great coffee, and mouthwatering desserts. The place may look like a coffee shop, but it’s much more. KOFFIE is a great place to sit down for a drink with friends or to grab a coffee to go. The coffee is strong, yet has a lovely earthy taste that’s best enjoyed with regular or plant-based milk. It’s also excellent as an iced option on a hot summer day. We also tried the carrot cake, which was exceptional — moist and flavourful, with warm cinnamon notes. The citrusy buttercream on top is creamy and rich in flavour, and it pairs well with the chopped walnuts, which add a nice crunch and texture. The staff are extremely friendly, and the atmosphere inside the café is pleasant. They even have dedicated laptop spaces with plugs for studying or work. It may get a bit noisy at times, but most people there don’t seem to mind.

We ordered a tea that was just okay, a decaf coffee that was bitter and a japanese cheesecake that was definitely not worth the money since it didn’t even have a lot of flavour. Definitely not the best experience but that might be because we just sat there for dessert and drinks.

Clichee in Maastricht is a feast for the eyes and the palate. The interior? Stunning. The food? Absolutely delicious—each dish is a masterpiece that makes you savor every bite. But the service? Let’s just say it’s less Michelin-starred hospitality and more “why are you even here?” From the moment we walked in, the staff exuded an icy indifference that made us feel like unwelcome guests at a private party. Every interaction felt like we were interrupting their day, and by the end of the meal, the uncomfortable vibe had taken a toll. Would I recommend Clinique? For the food, absolutely. But unless the service gets an overhaul, prepare for a side of awkwardness with your entrée.

Really pretty restaurant but rather awful food. The smoked salmon on the poached eggs was rubbery and slightly cooked from the heat of the eggs- the bread was dry and flavorless. Would not go back or recommend…

Have now enjoyed dinner on three different occasions and can only say I am happy with the quality of the dishes and their presentation. Also good drinks.

Such a pleasant visit to Clichée! We went with a group of 8 around dinner time. Food was really good! We shared several small dishes, most of them were very delicious. The taco’s were a bit too spicey and meaty to our taste. Plenty of yum veggie options available. Amazing cocktails as well! Friendly staff. We had to wait a bit for the cocktails and food, but that’s understandable for a big group.

Listen the staff are friendly. However, these prices are honestly insulting. The portions are very small. You leave hungrier when leaving. This place reminds me of the saying "dutch pallette", the sooner you realise that expats and immigrants visit here the better. We don't all like bland food. Charging €12 for 4 small pieces of fried chicken and €22 for a burger and fries is a crime. And honestly there are cheaper tastier places in maastricht.

Decent food, a bit pricey for what it is but tasty regardless. Very nice atmosphere, both inside and outside. The bathrooms are also clean and luxurious.

Café De Pieter is a small, charming artist's café located in Maastricht. It offers a diverse and lively atmosphere, where patrons can enjoy dancing on the small dance floor, sipping on beer and wine at the bar or wooden tables, and engaging in spirited conversations.
This place was fantastic on a sunny afternoon. We sat outside across from the city, the old city wall built around 1280. The server was fantastic. He was hilarious knew his beer and food. I would definitely suggest giving it a shot.

This place is beautiful, set against a lovely old stone wall with a charming atmosphere. It’s the kind of spot you want to linger in. Unfortunately, the owner/lady's attitude makes that difficult. We were planing on eating here but she seemed annoyed by our presence, and gave off a strong “you’re not welcome” feeling. A real shame, the location deserves better hospitality.

Had the best coffie in the whole town, it was reasonably priced and it's super cozy inside. They play all the good music, mainly Rock'n'Roll, Rock, Pop, Alternative, Psychedelic Rock from the 60-70s, maybe also some Rock Classics from the 80s. Great belgian beers, also.

Cocktail bar
Nestled in the heart of Maastricht, Mr. Smith is a hidden gem renowned as the finest cocktail bar in the Netherlands. What sets it apart is not only its expertly crafted cocktails but also its unique setting within a hidden cave, seamlessly blending history and modernity. Accessible only by reservation, this clandestine bar is discreetly tucked away behind a large blue door with cocktail shaker doorknobs and a doorbell inscribed with 'press for drinks.'
Underground like cocktail bar. One of the most unique bar we had in Maastricht. Reserve before you visit, no visible sign outside of the door so you need to be careful when you ring the doorbell. Then, staff will bring you in and introduce you the drinks. (They are cute and super nice!) Great spot for friends gathering, late evening can get crowded but Definitely recommend it. 🥰
Juno T — Google review
Mr. Smith is a hidden cocktail bar in Maastricht with a great atmosphere. The entrance is easy to miss—you have to ring a doorbell to get in, which adds a fun and exclusive touch. Once inside, the space is cozy, stylish, and dimly lit, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed night out. The cocktails are top-quality, with interesting flavors and a lot of attention to detail. The bartenders really know what they’re doing and are happy to recommend something based on your taste. Prices are on the higher side, but you do get great service, and they also serve drinks with water cups and popcorn, which is a nice touch. One thing to note—they are very strict about reservations. If you book a table, make sure to be on time, as they won’t hold it for long. It makes sense given how small the place is, but it does feel a bit rigid.
Betül — Google review
my first time exploring this spot and it didn’t disappoint at all. the drinks are perfectly balanced—kicky but super smooth. the place itself feels really intimate, with just the right music volume (so refreshing since some bars go way too loud). overall it gives off a cozy speakeasy vibe. definitely will come back here
Meldea M — Google review
A cozy cocktail bar with a speakeasy, living room feeling. Service was great. The waitress was knowledgeable, helpful and attentive, and you're served with complementary sides of chips and popcorn. Quality of the cocktails was excellent. We do a lot of mixing ourselves and visit cocktail bars wherever we go, so we recognize a good cocktail when we taste one. This was definitely up there. I've seen some reviews complain about the prices, but we thought they were very fair for how small scale the establishment is and how good everything was. This is simply what a decent cocktail costs. While we got in without a reservation, we would recommend making one considering the size of the place.
Bert B — Google review
THIS IS THE BEST BAR I’VE EVER BEEN TO!! I love the vibe, the drinks and the staffs!! The staff that served us were friendly, knew a lot about cocktails and very professional. I love the concept and the house rules. We were indeed not using our phones, just had a great time talking and enjoying the delicious cocktails. It was also a nice touch that they offer unlimited water! This place is one of the reasons why we want to come back to Maastricht again! ♥️
Nhi D — Google review
This is a cocktailbar, delicious cocktails. There are a lot different kind of cocktails and they are all good. It is a small place in the basement. One thing you have to know when you are planning to go for a drink… when you use the gps and you are at the place you will not see the signs.. you will recognize it on the door handle … it’s a must .. good to experience it. It’s better to make a reservation …. I would say … enjoy your drink!!!
Ingra D — Google review
Be prepared to be lost in the street looking for the place - don't miss out the door nº55 with the buzzer for drinks! One of the best "to-do" in Maastricht. Starting with the "secret bar" experience, to the friendly and experienced service that gave us many recommendations and was really fast on delivering the drinks. Regarding these ones, were extremely well done, and suitable for the price, served with some snacks. The place itself is a basement with vintage items and small tables. Perfect for a date, pre-drinks, or just a cocktail night. Truly recommend!

Oak 34 is a unique dining spot that caters to wine enthusiasts and fans of hearty BBQ dishes. Led by chef School, whose expertise in pastry and passion for American cuisine come together, Oak 34 offers a high-level culinary experience. The menu focuses on beautifully aged meats and an extensive selection of wines and beers. Known for its artisanal BBQ dishes using high-quality ingredients, the restaurant slow-cooks its meat over charcoal for a delightful smoky flavor and juiciness.
A wonderful eating experience with awesome food. Be careful on the busy nights that the wait for your order might be longer than you would expect but the wait staff is attentive and friendly. The location is a very beautiful spot and we ate outside with the lovely square behind us in Maastricht. Had a fantastic Black IPA that was recommended by the owner with my meal and was an excellent pairing with our meal. Highly recommend

During our visit to Maastricht, we had the pleasure of dining at Oak34, and it was an experience to remember. The outdoor dining space was fully occupied, but we were fortunate to find a spot, and it turned out to be the perfect setting for our meal. We were served by Elisabetta, whose service was impeccable from start to finish. She was prompt, friendly, and incredibly polite, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. Elisabetta’s expertise and recommendations truly enhanced our dining experience, and she definitely deserves a 5-star rating for her outstanding service. We started our meal with glasses of white beer and white wine, which were the perfect refreshment on a warm day. For the main course, we ordered the salmon steak and pork ribs. The food was superbly tasty, with each dish cooked to perfection. The flavors were rich and satisfying, living up to Oak34's reputation for high-quality cuisine. Given that we dined during busy hours, we noticed that the restaurant was bustling with activity. It's important to note that during peak times, you may need to be a bit patient while waiting for your food. The entire staff is working hard to deliver top-quality dishes, and it’s clear they are doing their best to ensure every guest has a great experience. Unfortunately, I overheard some guests being impolite to the staff, and I’ve read some reviews criticizing the wait time. In my opinion, this isn’t fair to the hardworking team at Oak34. Beyond the food, the overall atmosphere at Oak34 was warm and inviting. The entire staff were friendly and polite, adding to the overall positive experience. If you’re in Maastricht and looking for a place with excellent food, great service, and a cozy ambiance, Oak34 should be at the top of your list. Our visit was amazing, and we highly recommend it!

Lovely menu. Very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Fast and very personal, friendly service. Good selection of beers and whiskeys. And general pours. Will definitely be back.

We decided to dine at this restaurant because it has a great selection of meats and has a kids menu. We ordered ribs - they were very tasty! And the deep-fried potatoes were delicious. When we arrived all tables outside were occupied and we were seated inside. The interior looks nice inside but it was very warm with no air conditioning available, and due to still summer temperatures (above 25 degrees even in the evening) and proximity to the kitchen. Thanks to the service staff we have gotten a table outside and that was great - we could enjoy our meal in the fresh air! We ordered kids hamburgers for my nephews and specifically asked if the food was not spicy. The plates were served and they looked fantastic, but the sauce used for hamburgers was spicy. That was too pity and my nephews have not eaten them. All in all great food and good service, nicely located restaurant, but please can you adjust the kids hamburgers to a non spicy option so that also small guests can fully have a great food experience.

Oak 34 was definitely a great pick for my visit to Maastricht! The food here is excellent and relatively not too expensive. I would definitely recommend their Salmon and Buffalo Chicken Wings! If you do eat here though, I recommend dining INSIDE the restaurant. Flies and Wasps were everywhere when we chose to dine outside. Really not the restaurant's fault, though.
Matt T — Google review
This was our second time experiencing this place with my friends. During our first visit, we were particularly impressed with both the service and the taste of the meat. However, our second visit was far from pleasant. We arrived at 20:00, but the meat we ordered was only served around 21:30-45, with no explanation or apology for the delay. That being said, the meat was once again quite delicious, and we paid around €170. Unfortunately, as you can imagine, we were quite disappointed with the service. :) MVG, Mesut

I recently visited my favorite café, as I always do when I crave a good cup of coffee. They make the best coffee in Maastricht and although I don’t usually drink coffee, when I do, I come here. As usual, I ordered my favorite cappuccino and a piece of cake. While I was waiting, the person behind me in line turned out to be an employee of the café who was visiting her colleagues on her day off. She pointed out to the barista that she had forgotten to place a saucer under my cappuccino and without hesitation, started helping her. I wouldn’t have minded this at all, but what happened next shocked me. Without washing her hands or wearing gloves, she picked up the small biscuit that came with my coffee and moved it to a different saucer—using her bare hands. This completely disgusted me. She had just come in from outside, touching who knows what, and then she handled food meant for a customer. I was so shocked and uncomfortable that I couldn’t eat the biscuit. Generally, the staff isn’t the friendliest, but they do maintain cleanliness. The cakes are always neatly arranged, and the café itself is clean and well-kept. Besides making great coffee, they also serve delicious cakes, which I always enjoy. Despite this unpleasant incident, I’ll continue coming back for my favorite coffee and cakes because they truly are some of the best in town. I just hope they pay more attention to hygiene in the future.

Italian restaurant
Toscanella Apuana is an authentic Italian restaurant located in Wyck, offering a true taste of Italy in Maastricht. The ambiance and service make you feel like you've stepped into Italy, with Italian-speaking staff adding to the authenticity. The menu features homemade pasta, pizza, antipasti, various meat and fish dishes, and delightful desserts. The focus here is on delicious, pure, and honest food in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
I wish you could smell pictures because this is the best restaurant in Maastricht without doubts! The service is awesome. They take their time to explain you how the place works, to give you any recommendations or explanations. You can see that it's a family restaurant and although not every worker is blood related you can get the feeling of a family. It's an italian restaurant and as such all of the employees are italian, therefore the food is REAL italian and the products as well, if not local. The fact that they have day specials shows you how much they care about improving and trying new things for every taste. On top of it, this dinner was a surprise birthday celebration and they coordinated it perfectly to make it such an special moment. When the dessert was ordered they were told to put the candles on it. I'm so grateful to have done such an special dinner in this amazing place. It is a small restaurant so I will recommend to book before (by the time you arrive your table is ready). Definitely coming back to taste what's new 😋

Very good experience and totally recommended for special occasions or for times you want to taste well made typical Italian dishes with some nice twists. The place has been recently renovated and it looks very elegant and welcoming. Every dish served was tasty, rich and delicious. Especially the Carbonara tartufata was a explosion of flavors. Also, Giacopo was super friendly with us and asked for special treatment for my pregnant wife that was also celebrating her birthday. We had as secondo a tagliatelle, but to be safe they divided it and made two dishes with different cooking points so tat both of us can enjoy it in a safe way. Lastly, they made us a special swan figure with candles to sing happy birthday. This was so sweet and beautiful. This place offers the best pasta dishes and Italian style meat I've tried in the city.
Nicolás A — Google review
Toscanella Apuana serves what is, without question, my favorite pizza in Maastricht. Like, chef’s kiss levels of crispy, chewy, tomatoey perfection. The pasta? Well… depends. Some dishes are a little too enthusiastic with the oil—like the chef is trying to personally fund the olive industry. As for the service: efficient. Very efficient. In the sense that the waiter starts cleaning your table the second your fork hits the plate, with the subtle energy of “please leave now.” It’s like dining in Italy, if Italy were in a hurry to close. Still, I’ll keep going back—for the pizza and the emotional thrill of eating under mild time pressure.
Floww — Google review
We had starter, and main I order Orecchiette alla Vongole. Orecchiette was really nice and love it, just personally not my favourite way to pair with the vongole. The focaccia is heaven and I can speak nothing about this. All on point. Wine was good, atmosphere was ok. So, I will definitely visit again if there is chance.
Juno T — Google review
I tried the classic lasagna and it was quite good and at a decent price too They also had a truffle lasagna, but since I'm not a big fan of truffle I let that pass However, I'm definitely going back to try other things from the menu It looked like they had a quite extensive pizza menu Sorry about the picture, it don't do them just since I took a piece of the lasagna before the picture

With about 10 different burgers to choose from, each with its own special twist, Burgerlijk provides a diverse selection to cater to various tastes.
Had one of the top 5 burgers of my life here, and it was just their classic burger with cheese and bacon. Really cozy spot, really attentive and nice staff, and the food was not only incredibly tasty but the kitchen did a great job managing a lot of big orders at one time; my burger came out as hot as it could have been.

If you ever crave a burger when you are at or close to Maastricht, look no further and make your way to Burgerlijk! Their burgers (especially their Wagyu burgers as shown in the pictures) are hard to beat! And did I mention their sweet potato fries? Pair these crispy pieces of heaven with their delectable burgers and you will most certainly be in for a treat! Cost-wise, the prices are more or less par for the course for most restaurants in the Netherlands; getting one of their juicy burgers along with a helping of sweet potato fries and a drink will set you back a little below 25 EUR. While this restaurant is definitely not the cheapest, I still find myself frequenting Burgerlijk for its delicious grub! Overall, I recommend Burgerlijk to anyone who loves a good burger! Aside from the amazing food, the restaurant has some of the kindest waiters and its interior exudes a very cozy ambiance.

I have been asking for my missing payslips for months on end and the owner has been ignoring me. Very shady and illegal stuff is happening in this place and it needs to be checked by the authorities. The rats are crawling all over the kitchen, the management is not taking health concerns of employees seriously, and the food itself is rotten and still served. (This is from the past experiences of old employees, now the reality could be different). Be aware when visiting that your money is supporting a very deficient and unethical business environment.

Restaurant Maastricht, eetcafé Minckelers, is a cozy and hospitable eatery named after the inventor of the gas lamp. Housed in a 400-year-old monumental building on Markt square, it offers an extensive and varied menu with separate options for gluten-free and lactose-free dishes. The restaurant features high ceilings, impressive chandeliers, an open kitchen, and a lively bar providing a dynamic backdrop for Chef Frank van Thiel's seasonal cuisine.
We went for early dinner on a weekday evening and the place was quite empty. The place has comfy seats and the vibe is nice. Friendly and polite staff. Food arrived accordingly and I must say the salad and fries tasted surprisingly good. The satay was nice, except it would be better if they use meat with more fat instead of just plain, lean meat, which was quite dry.

Everything was perfect. We ate burgers and they were delicious. I really recommend the avocado burger. Great selection of beers too. We ordered the burgers as medium, but you can also choose large. We recently visited and encountered very unpleasant experience. Piece of Cake, located near the bustling Vrijthof in Maastricht, is a must-visit for dessert lovers. While slightly pricey, their selection of cupcakes and cakes is truly amazing. Italian restaurant
Store
Vino&Friends offers a delightful experience for wine enthusiasts and those who appreciate the Italian way of life. The restaurant, owned by Fabian Wijering and Bas Lenoire, presents a carefully curated selection of wines accompanied by classic antipasti, homemade pastas, and delicious secondi. With a different three- or four-course menu each month highlighting various Italian regions, guests can embark on a sensory journey in an inviting atmosphere.
The service is probably the friendliest around Maastricht. The entire place is nicely decorated and the winter garden provides great light throughout the day. We took the 3 course menu which starts with a selection of appetizers. We had both the bream and the tagliata as main and we can only recommend both. Finally the dessert offered a cheese platter or homemade ice cream. Thumbs up for both again.

We recently visited a solid Italian restaurant in Maastricht and overall had a pleasant experience. The food was good – nothing groundbreaking, but definitely delicious and well-prepared. Each course offered a nice variation, from antipasti to dessert, which kept the meal interesting. However, the portion sizes were a bit on the small side. That said, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and recognized details without needing to be asked, which added a lot to the dining experience. Their professionalism and warm attitude really made us feel welcome. It's a good spot if you're looking for a cozy atmosphere and solid Italian cuisine with great service.

Food 3 | Service 5 | Atmosphere 4 Food is mediocre, nothing special or impressive. The dessert is particularly nice though. The beef is a bit over cooked and rough. The ravioli is a rather bland. The time between courses are very long, we spent about 3.5 hours to finish a 4 courses meal!!! Service is great! The servers are attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is rather nice, love the skylight in the sitting area!
James L — Google review
From the moment you walk in you feel the Italian generiosity. The staff speaks Italian amongst each other, joking and bantering, adding to the atmosphere. We chose the 5 course "surprise" edition, after ticking off some dietary/allergen questions (none in our case). Portion size was good for each serving and packed with flavour. Overall the food is of high quality and cooked wel. The recommended winepairing (from the affordable subset of the extensive winelist) matched perfectly with the flavours on the plate and our own preference. We spend our entire evening there, with a decent (slow) pacing of courses. You need to make a downpayment upon making a reservation; about 15€/pp; which is settled with the bill.

Nice little Italian restaurant The antipasti were the nicest : would litteraly only take only that in bigger. Pasta were nice but simple Meat was OK Service a bit too slow : 3hr for a 4 course meal Price : not democratic: 90€/pp with 1 bottle of whine and 1 Aperol Spritz

Best Italian restaurant in Maastricht (and probably NL). Superb staff with a very good knowledge on the amazing collection of wines. Food was incredible. Do try the TAGLIATA DI MANZO CLASSICA (Mibrasa grill)! Atmosphere was great! A-location in city center of Maastricht. Highly recommended!
Titus V — Google review
Was very looking forward in trying out this place due its good rating. Service is excellent & the vibe is nice. However, the food is overrated. Taste is OK like any regular Italian place, nothing special. In my opinion, the price vs portion for antipasta is way overpriced. For the steak, unfortunate only from 1kg order.
Blossom — Google review
Food was great, just the steak was missing flavour. Service was very good. Have some interesting wines and cold cut meat. The design of the restaurant is very nice. Just one thing, we were sitting at the back in the corner of 2 big windows and it was cold there, seems to be some draft. Could not spoil the evening though, will return.

It is an ok place for drinks, but I would not eat therez we had fries which was ok, except that they put the sauce on the fries. The service was very quick and efficient.

waiting for our breakfast more then half an hour. croissant wasn’t fresh. big breakfast was not rich - only one piece of cheese and ham. eggs Benedict were overcooked. we pay 31,70 for two. coffee was not included - very strange…

Good pork schnitzel, but the fries and beer were excellent. We ate dinner in the atmosphere of the old market square. A place worth recommending

The worst Croque Monsieur I have ever seen, I just could not eat it. The waitress said it was ok, she is eating it every day.

We have eaten here many times. Breakfast, lunch & Dinner. Always good. This visit also. Food; tomato soup, pasta funghi & dame blanche were really tasty. Service a little slower than normal as shortstaffed.
Margaret E — Google review
I had a pleasant lunch and the food was as the reviews said. I had a decent glass of rose wine. The coffee wasn't impeccable, but being Italian I'm picky when it comes to coffee.

If you are looking for an extensive continental breakfast this place will not disappoint. Croissants, french bread, wholegrain are served with omelet or sunny side up eggs, cheese, ham jams, butter and a generous portion of salad and fruits. A lot more expensive place than I am used to, €79 for the set 5 course menu but could not fault the food at all. Best steak ever, melt in the mouth! Absolutely gorgeous. Loved the fruity olive oil too. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion

The restaurant is under the ownership of Monika Chrobok and Armand Lennartz, who have extensive experience in Michelin-starred establishments. Since taking over in 2007, Armand has been impressing diners with his culinary skills, offering classic Thai dishes in a homely setting.
Best Thai food I have ever had in my life. The atmosphere is also fantastic. One of the best restaurants in Maastricht.
Elli — Google review
Food came out way too quickly, clearly pre-prepared and not fresh. The €25 Pad Thai was the worst I’ve ever had. It lacked the usual flavor, with no peanuts, no sprouts, no fresh lime, and was just coated in a red sauce. The vegetable fried rice had barely any vegetables and was completely dried out. I would not return.
Rebecca — Google review
Unfortunately a very loud restaurant that gets very crowded. The food is decent, yet too oily, and the sautéed vegetables lack in flavor. Although nicely plated, the portions are quite small in comparison to the price. Would not visit again.

We went as a group of four and had a reserved table. We really enjoyed it, though the food wasn’t “wow”, so we’re giving 4⭐️. Thanks for the great service and the beautiful table!

great restaurant! the food is really good and very tasty! the portions are very generous. the quality of food follows the price; it is not cheap but it is completely worth it! the service is excellent, all the waitors are nice, approchable and helpful. the food also came pretty fast. the ambience is astonishing. with the dark wood decorated space and dim lighting, it’s truly a place perfect for a date night but also for an excellent meal with a larger group of people. definitely recommend!
Alma M — Google review
Excellent location, superb service and very attentive. The waitress was so kind and friendly too. For food perspective, it is more of a “localise” version of Thai food (I personally prefer spicier kick) but overall taste was acceptable. The only downside was the noodle soup that I order, the portion tend to be a little lesser than I was expecting.
Juno T — Google review
My friends were exited to try this restaurant. I was a little bit more skeptical bc I grew up in Thailand and know the authentic flavors. The Michelin Star gave me hope and I was very optimistic to give it a try. We ordered: Satay Kai (chicken satay) Tod Man Pla (fish cake) Som Tam (papaya salad) Yam Won Sen (spicy glass noodle salad) Kaew Tiew Moo (clear broth with noodles and pork balls) Keanu Kaew Wan (green curry) The first 4 dishes were a hit. Very flavorful but very mild in spice level. In all fairness, I didn't ask for more spice. My friends are not used to Thai spice level and it was perfect for them. The Kaew Tiew was a no go for me. This is a street food stable and childhood favorite. When a restaurant puts it on the menu, the expectation is to nail it 100%. I left it almost untouched. The green curry was a let down as well. Green curry should be.. well, green. It was not and the flavor was just off. It doesn’t look like or taste anything resembling a green curry. However, the ambiance and service was great, and the waiter very attentive. We provided the same feedback and the restaurant took the soup off our bill unasked. I would say this restaurant is a good alternative. Giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe the chef just had an off day. I’ll give it another try as the appetizers were delightful and delicious.

New Year’s Eve dinner. Great food and many courses! The team was working really hard and remained pleasant and patient throughout the night. I would definitely recommend this place for a quiet dinner date with sophisticated cuisine and romantic ambiance.

We came to Danyel as part of our first visit to Maastricht. The city offers a lot for culinary experiences, but Danyel caught our eye fast - and it didn’t disappoint. Restauranteurs Danyel and Mariska are kind, inviting and great at their game. Restaurant offers only course based menus, you can choose form 5 to 8 courses - great for sustainability (no waste) and creativity of the chef. We had a umami style salmon sashimi starter salad, followed by a fish based vegetable soup. After came pan seared cod with saffron pumpkin puree and followed by a second main, a picanha with grilled veggies and a fantastic jus. The jewel of the night is the one pictured: homemade chocolate ganache and melon ice cream with salted caramel nut base. What a finish. All of our meals were paired with great wine thanks to Mariska and service and discussion felt like we visited a friend - and other customers were feeling the same. All and all, a great experience overall - and the food is amazing too! We’ll be back for sure :)

Spent a very pleasant Sunday here with my daughter. The food is delicious and the chef-owner is very warm and friendly.

We went last weekend to celebrate our relationship anniversary to restaurant Danyel. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very attentive, starting with Chef Danyel who came frequently to our table to explain the dishes and to know if everything was going well. There is no fixed menu, just just tell the chef at the beginning how many dishes you would like (between 3 and 8) and if you have allergies or food preferences. We opted for fish/seafood options as we dont like meat very much and the 4-course option and everything was exquisite. Danyel worked in the past at some of the best restaurants in France (Paul Bocuse in Lyon and Haeberlin in Alsace) and we felt almost home by eating at his restaurant. A place to recommend.
Guillaume M — Google review
We had a really good time at Danyel's. Super friendly couple, superb food. Really good value for the price! As far as I understand, the courses differ from table to table. I have no idea how the two of them are doing it. Amazing!
Alex D — Google review
For me the best restaurant in town! Next to ‘classics’, Danyel always surprises you with new, tasteful dishes, prepared with high skills and lots of care. Which are then accompanied with a great choice of wines, suggested by Mariska, the wife and sommelier of Danyel. You simply feel that they love what they do there

Chinese restaurant
Wen Chow is a popular Chinese restaurant in Maastricht, known for its authentic and diverse menu. The cozy spot offers dishes like spicy Sichuan chicken, savory Mongolian beef, hot and sour soup, crispy sesame chicken, and flavorful shrimp fried rice. It has gained a reputation for serving truly authentic Chinese flavors in a traditional yet unpretentious atmosphere. The restaurant is frequented by locals as well as acclaimed chefs.
Restaurant Review: Wen Chow in Maastricht A Culinary Highlight of Cantonese Cuisine A day trip to Maastricht ended with a memorable culinary experience: dinner at the Cantonese restaurant Wen Chow. Making a same-day reservation for a Friday evening was surprisingly easy—already a good indication of the restaurant’s efficiency. Atmosphere & Service Upon entering, the traditional Cantonese decor immediately stood out. The lighting was pleasantly dim, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. There was no background music, but this did not detract from the experience; the thoughtful table arrangement and warm ambiance more than compensated. The service was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly, professional, and remarkably attentive. One waiter, in particular, stood out for his humorous and charming approach, adding to the overall positive experience. Service was swift and efficient—there were hardly any wait times, requests were fulfilled immediately, and special requests were accommodated without hesitation. The staff maintained a perfect balance of attentiveness, always nearby without being intrusive. Food & Drinks The menu offered a wide selection of traditional Cantonese dishes at surprisingly reasonable prices. The inclusion of pictures was a helpful touch, making it easier to navigate the choices. The starters were outstanding—perfectly seasoned, well-balanced, and incredibly fresh. Even for someone who prefers saltier flavors, there was no need for additional seasoning. The sauces provided at the table complemented the dishes beautifully. The main courses continued to impress with their freshness, quality, and elegant presentation. Even the dessert, a carefully plated ice cream dish, was a delightful highlight. The drink selection was standard but perfectly adequate. The house-made iced tea was particularly well presented and a refreshing choice. Price-Quality Ratio The value for money was excellent. Given the high quality of both the food and service, the prices were more than fair—if anything, slightly lower than expected for such a top-tier experience. This alone makes Wen Chow a place worth returning to. Final Verdict Wen Chow excels in every important category: atmosphere, service, food, and pricing. The restaurant is an ideal choice for romantic dinners, business meals, and family gatherings alike. With its perfect combination of superb cuisine, outstanding service, and a welcoming ambiance, Wen Chow receives a strong recommendation. ⭐ Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars ⭐ A must-visit for lovers of Cantonese cuisine in Maastricht—and certainly a place worth revisiting.
Maxwell G — Google review
Decided to try out something new with a friend and we were not disappointed! The food was amazing, the tofu was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Even though they didn’t have a lot of vegetarian options the ones they had were amazing! The best part is that we ordered 2 different options with fried rice, but it’s made in a way that you share all of it, so we got the best of both worlds! Surely coming back :)
Tena T — Google review
Great place! Loved the food. Stuff was very kind. Tried cha siu , crispy pork belly, steamed shrimp dumplings. All very tasty. Would visit again
Anna P — Google review
The dim sum was PHENOMENAL. We ordered the deep fried dumpling with pork, steamed rice roll, half plate of roasted pork belly and duck (comes with rice), and siu mai. Everything was flavorful and authentic, with great texture.
Ann H — Google review
Very cozy restaurant with really authentic and super tasty Cantonese cuisine! For me personally one of the best Cantonese restaurants in the region. Admittedly, the interior is a bit reminiscent of a Chinese restaurant from the 90s. But it has its own charm! Service employees are also very nice and helpful. You don't have to wait long here. But you shouldn't sit for long - haha. But don't worry, you have enough time to eat! I can definitely recommend the platter with mixed meat, pork and duck, very tasty! Or the mixed guts! Unfortunately there is no 奶黄包, but the dessert is also very tasty!
Veit B — Google review
Ask for the Chinese menu! They have more options than the western menu. Dimsum was decent. Some items were better than others but overall it was a nice lunch 🥪 4.5 stars overall
Daniel — Google review
In general the food was decent, duck was perhaps the only highlight. Fried pakchoi with fish slices (as written in the chinese menu) was not what was expected as fish slices you would expect usually proper marinated white fish slices and not just fish cake which is super artificial. Additionally, paying extra 5€ for "fish slices" does not justify the price. Dimsum quality could also be better, and the fried rice noodles were thick and not what you would usually get at chinese restaurants. All in all would not recommend this restaurant for people who are looking for authentic cantonese food.
Youzhe W — Google review
Again I just have to give a top score The food was absolutely amazing The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive at all time A reservation is recommended since this is a very popular restaurant

Sushi restaurant
Azië Tapas is a delightful culinary gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Asia to your table, offering an exciting twist on the traditional tapas experience. Nestled in the lively Vrijthof area, this charming restaurant invites you to embark on a gastronomic journey through various Asian cuisines, including tantalizing dishes from Japan, India, Thailand, and Indonesia. The unique all-you-can-eat concept allows diners to savor multiple rounds of delectable offerings.
This was amazing! The food quality and the staff have been great. The concept at the all-you-can-eat is simple. Each table gets a card. You have 5 rounds to order food. Each round each person can choose 2 Sushi plates ( 4 sushi pieces each) and 3 dishes.(Tapas or small dishes) Once they are served the food you can fill in the next round and they prepare it fresh for you. The price is 25€ per person. Drinks not included. We went 3 rounds and each and every item we choosed has been so wonderful. The taste, the quality and the amount have been just perfect. As soon as there was an empty plate one of the waiters came and cleaned our table. All of them have been super friendly and helpful. 100% recommend that restaurant for the all-you-can-eat.
Vi C — Google review
The atmosphere of the restaurant is good. It's cool that you have not only Asian food but also a few other options. So, it’s not just sushi; you have different choices. However, the variety is lacking for an Asian cuisine restaurant. Another issue is that you can order 4 dishes per person, and after that, you need to wait 15 minutes. They bring the food quickly, but then you wait another 10 minutes. Some of the portions are also very small. The good part is that the food and ingredients are fresh and tasty. However, paying for all-you-can-eat and spending 2.5 hours mostly waiting is not worth it. it

I had the pleasure / not the pleasure to eat there.... Low-quality food. I do not recommend it especially during the concert of andrie Rieu.

Extremely disappointed. My parents came to visit for Easter and we went out for coffee. We sat down here just because they were the only place with free seats (for a reason). We said we would like to wait to my parents for two minutes and the employee super impolite said we cannot wait and keep the table (they had 10+ empty seats). Then she nervously kept coming when my parents were sitting down like they have to order the moment they sit down. And then she made us a note for a bottle of water we had at the table. And finally, made us pay the moment we got our drinks. It sounds like not much but I went out to spend money and enjoy. Not to be stressed by weird personnel that doesn’t know how to treat clients. I would not come here again or ever recommend it.
Ivanna A — Google review
Bad quality. I don't like the ordering sistema since you have to wait 15 min to order another 5 tapas. Some dishes were not good. Very very expensive.
Sara A — Google review
I had a great experience, but they refused to give a glass of tapwater to my girlfriend, even though we ordered several drinks and a bottle of prosecco. Insisting we spend 8.90 euros on a bottle of water. I find that absolutely unbelievable. I will change this review if they change that policy.

The Sushi is good and the owner is kind. We used to go there often too. However, this is one of the places the staff kills the mood and so the food. Don't expect to get the food in the right order nor any time soon. Don't expect smiling service either.

Karolina S — Google review
A cozy spot located in the heart of Maastricht, Thai Ichi provides a simple dishes executed masterfully. The sushi was fresh and delicious and their Thai items also hit the nail right on the head! Not a lot of places do classic sushi rolls justice without adding a bunch of other stuff on top. Granted, this is not bad but for a traditional sushi lover, Thai Ichi is a must. Their hot plates consisted of a simple combination of sirloin fresh veggies and rice that were all cooked to perfection. Be sure to try the soups as well. It is rather small so a reservation might by wise, especially with groups of 4 or more
Chubato — Google review
I would not recommend this place for take away. The food was very poor for the price we paid. The edamame fridge cold, no salt. The portion of the rice is not proportionate with the dish ( literally 4 spoons of rice) even though in most Thai cuisine rice is one thing you can be generous in. Sushi is alright... and the fried shrimps are below mediocre ( the ones from oriental express are way better). Would only go to this place if i want a very light bite, one roll of sushi and that's it, pretty disappointed. I do not understand why this place is super high rated, people should really expect higher standards when they have to pay that much. Honestly, the take away Thai Ocha in Maastricht destroys all their " Thai" dishes. Such a shame

Amazing food!!! Definitely a recommendation if you want to have a great lunch! We ordered a 12 Uurtje. It was our best uurtje EVER!
Ana M — Google review
I'd had onion soup and zuurvlees a couple of times. Since it was good we took our guests there right after the carnaval. However it was a big disappointment. The onions in the onion soup was cut so big and they were not well cooked. Zuurvlees was too sweet and the clove taste was too strong unlike the previous times. I ordered salad with smoked chicken. It was too salty. The food was nothing like the previous times. It's a shame that I gave such a bad experience to my guests.

Good place to try the Zuurvlees dish (typical in Maastricht), and all dishes come with fries. Onion soup as entrée was very good, but if you don’t eat a lot then it’s better to share.

Wonderful little "eetcafe". Atmosphere is great, you can stay for a while, have a drink (coffee, all sorts of beer or softdrinks). The food is very good for good and fair prices. Typical limburgish/netherlands food, especially the onion soup - a must! The staff is allways friendly and fast. So if you like these little restaurants away from the main ones, you will be happy with this. Its worth a visit.

Grenzeloos is a great new restaurant in Maastricht with delicious coffee and grilled cheese sandwiches. The fake news sandwich is especially yummy! There's plenty of room to sit, work or relax, and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
They have great food at reasonable prices. The service is good except for the occasional language barrier with the employees, but it is quite understandable when we think about their mission. I just wish their opening hours had a bigger range.

Love this place. Friendly staff, great coffee and a good vegan toast (pictured). 🌱 I’ve only been inside, which is light and spacious with beautiful plants and plenty of room to sit. In case you need to get some work done, there is free WiFi and multiple power outlets available to plug in your device.

Good coffee drinks and tasty toasted sandwiches. The atmosphere is cosy and warm, and the staff were very friendly. The café is well located too, just off of the market square in the city centre of Maastricht, and in front of a bus stop. Just note that it is currently not open on Sundays, if you're planning to drop by on a Sunday shopping trip ;-)

Best toasties in town. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for having a small break during Saturday's market and have lunch. Totally recommended.
Alvaro L — Google review
The atmosphere is just as amazing as the food. I was greeted my the very friendly waitress that got me my breakfast menu shorty after. Delicious food made with love! Prices are very fair for the quality of food! For me personally this is a leading example of how a cafe and bistro should be run and managed. Big love to the waitress kitchen staff and team! Keep up this wonderful spirit!

We visited on a trip for breakfast and were delighted by the location and atmosphere. The menu is small, but well though out and brings with it a feel of the mission of the restaurant. The social and integration goal of restaurant is worth supporting and the service is first class.

Cafe
In de Karkol, located at Stokstraat 5 in Maastricht, has gained significant recognition in the hospitality industry. It has been consistently ranked among the top 10 cafes in the Netherlands by Misset Horeca and was even named Cafe of the Year in 2016. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere, along with its friendly staff, has contributed to its popularity.

Very good beer. It would be better if they provide guests with a menu!
Ahmad A — Google review
Quaint little Dutch pub with the best French onion soup in all of Maastricht. It has great beer & coffee and has interesting photos of life in the area in the 1950s when the area was mostly slums/tenements.
Suzie R — Google review
What a nice traditional place. The right spot for a drink and small bite from a menu with limited choice. Relaxed and very pleasant atmosphere.
Joyful J — Google review
Such a wonderful bar close to the river and Sint Sebastian. You should go there for atmosphere and beer. You will also get nuts and cheese, as accomplishments to beer. No snails are served for last 10 years, unfortunately, due to low demand. But wonderful that this oldest town bar is still operating.
Natalia R — Google review
A traditional Maastricht bar, great both during the day and in the evening, with two completely different, yet authentic atmospheres.

Mediterranean restaurant
Bar
Eetcafé Il y a is a charming restaurant nestled in the Latin Quarter, offering a delightful blend of Mediterranean flavors influenced by French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian cuisine. The cozy interior features dim lighting, wooden furnishings, and captivating artwork. Guests can savor delectable dishes paired with fine wines from the region. Despite its small size, the bistro provides friendly service and caters to various tastes with an affordable menu.
Excellent food and kind and caring staff!
Alice G — Google review
Tiny place with very friendly service and a menu for every taste. A steak and frites for less than 20 bucks is totally ok. Clean air can be scarce and noise plentiful when the place is full. So my advice is to come early. Best time is at or shortly before 6pm.
Peter A — Google review
Cosy atmosphere, such a character the owner of the place, but in terms of food nothing special, just good enough for regular going outs. Wine list is pretty good though, mainly from Spain, Portugal and Italy.
Polina K — Google review
Cosy atmosphere but quite narrow, classy tableware and kind young waiters, not touristy like the other restaurants around the corner. We can recommend this little bistro and to go 20 steps further away from packed pedestrian area of Maastricht shopping city.
I B — Google review
very tasty starter and main dish, but dessert was too sweety and plain. One more basket of bread cost 2.5€. Really recommend trying salty dishes without ordering dessert.
Yi-An L — Google review
Excellent food. Reasonable dinner prices. Service and speed on point. A tad bit small at the entrance area but this gives it a cozy vibe. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Kokweng T — Google review
The atmosphere was awesome: incredible decoration, lound french songs in the background, great service, very pleasant people. The food was very good too. A very good adress.
Thomas Z — Google review
The starters served were not like anything I've tried before. Ordered the duck confit, fish, steak and the veal. But.... just order anything Everything was SOOOOOOO GOOOOD. Too good that I forgot to take photos.
