I've been there with my family during our shopping tour through Meran. The service was quite cold and came after a long 5 minute wait. We orderd some drinks and the traditional liverdumplingsoup (Leberknödelsuppe), which was the water-likest soup I ever tasted! The dumpling was really small and contained almost no meat, but a lot flavorless bread... We payed around 40€ for 3 drinks and 3 soups, including the Italian "coperto", for some bread we never got... We won't visit again!

After some time, we asked about the missing meal - and again two more times only to be ignored. After about 30 mins without any update, we gave up and asked for the bill. The rest of the staff were lovely - but we would never recommend this place to anyone unless they want to be ignored and not fed. We we lucky a pizza place was still open nearby - this was superb, with lovely people and food. We told our new server about the previous experience and they even gave us a free shot of the local liquor. Try this instead!

We visited the Augustiner Brewery when we were in Salzburg and were so excited to see one when we were in Merana. The beer was just as cold and great tasting and the service here was outstanding. We’ve had this place off season just for ourselves and therefore can’t rate the service level. The rooms are meticulous (we didn’t mind a little dust here and there as it is an ancient building and rooms are vast) and we have enjoyed our stay very much.

My review is going to be all over the place, so let me try a list: Staff - lovely. Friendly & helpful, but one.of our waiters seemed a little confused at times. However, nothing that interfered wjtb the enjoyment of our meal. Food - average, overall. My pasta dish was not impressive, but the guanciale was delicious. Compared to other restaurants we eat at during this trip, the dishes get about 3.5 stars. Location - gorgeous. The grounds of Castel Pienzau are beautiful. We ate on the slate patio in the garden and it felt magical. Except for the mosquitos. The waitress sat us & explained that she'd be bringing bug spray for us as they have a mosquito issue this time.of the year. By the time she returned with the spray, my legs were on fire with mosquito bites. I am assuming if you visit during a different season you will not encounter this problem, but it definitely affected my experience.

Initially we were disappointed in looking at the menu and not seeing a wine pairing, but we went with the 7-course "new" menu rather than the favorites menu and asked - they DO have a wine pairing specific for each dish available, and it's fantastic. They also asked if we had allergies or anything we didn't particularly like - one of us does not like the flavor of truffle and they gave us a different pasta dish, a level they didn't have to reach! Had an absolutely wonderful stay in September with my husband and another couple. We stayed in the Suite with an amazing Deck, Sauna, and hot-tub. All of the amenities where wonderful. Spa, Room, Pools, and Food where all wonderful. Looking forward to coming back in December and seeing this wonderful place during the Holidays.
