Tapas bar
Borda Berri is a vibrant pintxos bar that offers an array of intense slow-cooked dishes infused with Basque and international flavors. The menu features delectable options such as the renowned "crunchy" pig's ear, pork rib kebab, cod tripe, veal cheeks, mushroom risotto, squid ink ravioli, and tender octopus. These dishes are served on small plates with perfectly seasoned sauces, garnishes, and flavorful local olive oils.
Best pintxos in town! Besides the pork ribs, get the cod neck/cheeks and the risotto! All simple dishes but done well. Bar is quite small and very popular so eating here might be a tad chaotic. But a great experience overall 😋🔥

Absolutely blown away — this place was incredible. I went right at opening time, and it was already full. The menu, the quality, the service, the value — everything was perfect. I couldn’t resist going back again in the evening, and the atmosphere was even more amazing. People were happily spilling out onto the street — the place was full of life. What surprised me most was that the same staff who were serving at full speed in the morning were still working just as energetically at night. Their dedication and consistency were truly impressive. This is the kind of restaurant I’d want to visit every single time. A true gem.
MASA ( — Google review
This was my first stop in San Sebastián and it did not disappoint. The restaurant was super crowded and service is crazy hectic. But everything we ordered was incredible. The cod pil pil, entrecôte, risotto. Went back to try the kebab pork ribs as they were sold out that evening and it was delicious as well. Definitely a place to stop by. It was less crowded when we went back for lunch.
Wyelin C — Google review
Authentic pinxtos bar, with an incredible atmosphere. The dishes were delicious, would recommend the Costilla de Cerdo. Always full to the point of splling into the street - wrestle your way to the bar, order and then find a place to eat. Many people grab a dish and opt to stand and eat in the street. Quite loud and intense inside but that somewhat adds to the experience. Drinks were great, try the local cider. We had several dishes and a drink each (2 people) and that came to around €25
Ben W — Google review
After a successful visit yesterday, today trying the Cod Pil Pil the fish was raw and inedible, and the beef entrecot was so blue and raw it was also inedible. Super dissapointing and I wonder if the chef changed as yesterday the pork ribs, and the veal cheek were both really nice. But any place this inconsistent and serves raw food should be avoided.
Brad H — Google review
One of our favorite place to eat in San Sebastián, the pig ear was out of this world, and the “kebab” as well. The staff is not friendly at all and you feel like you are bothering them coming in, the cider and the food is thanks fully making up for it
Cannelle D — Google review
All 3 items we ordered which was the risotto, the beef cheeks and ribs were really good! While the food was good, staffs weren't that friendly.

Catered so well to allergies. They have a QR code with the menu in English with allergens. Food was so delicious, particularly the pork rib!!

Bar Txepetxa is a long-standing tavern known for its convivial atmosphere and delicious anchovy snacks and sandwiches. The small, cheap pintxos offer a variety of flavors, from savory options like vinegary giardiniera and tapenade to sweeter combinations such as foie gras with apple compote and blueberry jam. Despite its unassuming appearance, the bar has attracted foodies and celebrities alike, with photos on the wall showcasing famous visitors.
I still dream of the blueberry anchovy pintxos! Who would have thought this combo would work WOW!! This is a pintxos bar that specialises in anchovy so if you love anchovies this is the spot for you!! We got 5 to share as it was still way before 12pm and I don’t usually eat breakfast. Each was delicious in its own way. We started with salted anchovy just to try on its own and it was goooood. Then we worked our way down the menu and got peppers with onions, sea urchin cream, blueberry and then salmon. Highly recommend visiting here for a snack or a full meal. The beers are great and service was friendly too!
Karen T — Google review
Perfect perfect perfect!!!! For an anchovy lover this is heaven on earth. Every bite is a delight. I recommend the blueberry one! The one with pepper and onion. Lastly don’t miss the hot tapa with cod - it was divine as well.
Dana L — Google review
Anchovy heaven. If you love anchoas/ boquerones you will love this place. My favourite was the one with blueberry! 🤪 crowded but just work your way to the front of bar. The bartenders are very quick. English menu provided just pick and choose and point at what you want.
C H — Google review
Very friendly servers and it’s probably one of the few pintxo bars where there’s a/c and you feel cool inside. Lovely decor and very very quick service! Although not much space, you can definitely find yourself a little space to eat and drink. It mainly serves anchovies dishes, instead of other seafood/meat. So if you don’t like anchovies, don’t come! It’s won a few awards I believe and very well deserved! My favourite is the crab meat with anchovy but if you don’t like the roe/seafood taste, opt for olives or peppers with anchovies. Food was just amazing! Go for Txakolí wine for the local experience 🥰😌
Sharon C — Google review
What an experience! It gets packed very fast and thus the ordering is very chaotic. The service men are friendly though and make sure you’ll get yours eventually. The taste is incredible! No wonder everyone wants a piece!
Johannes R — Google review
Loads of fun...but it's just anchovies with toppings. If you like anchovies, great! If you don't, I wouldn't go here. The bread is subpar, but such is Spain. (Unless we're talking about glass bread, which is incredible, but not served here. As a matter of fact, many things are not served here.) My wife and I both loved the calamari dearly. The joint is down-home, it's funky, and like the rest of San Sebastian, touristy to the core. The narrow menu is a gimmick, after all. But don't take my word for it: Ian McKellen ate here!
Jon L — Google review
Blueberries and anchovies sounds wrong but it works as the sweetness balances out the saltiness. It's probably the best one on the menu! The vinaigrette in the blueberry jam makes it moreish and you'll be asking for more. Coconut and anchovies was interesting but the coconut overpowered the anchovies slightly. The Norwegian salmon pairs well with the anchovy or you can have it on its own. You can't go wrong with any items on the menu as the anchovies are delicious and flavour combos are solid. Whether it's pate, tuna or peppers, it's down to your personal preference. Wash it down with a beer or txakoli and you have the perfect pintxos pairing. As one of the most popular pinxtos bars in the area, it is often busy but it adds to the atmosphere. Service is quick with an interesting tannoy system where they shout your order to the back kitchen. Staff are friendly and efficient. Pintxos are reasonable at €3 especially at this quality.
Jason K — Google review
3 eur for excellent pintzos. I tried option one with crab cream which was quite intense and option two with peppers and onion which was more balanced with the crunch and lightness from the vegetables. Perfectly seasoned, quick friendly service, highly recommend even if you’re not an anchovy fan.

Sport Taberna is a hidden gem in San Sebastian's old city, known for its wide variety of cold and hot pintxos. While it's popular during sports events, the real draw is the gourmet selection of pintxos. The bar offers an array of delicious options, from gildas with olives, pickled peppers, and anchovies to foie gras soaked in brandy and flash-fried.
Flight your way to the bar and you're guaranteed some terrific bites. The attentive, multitasking staff behind the counter hustles to bring out highlights including the mini hamburger, crab-stuffed crepe, and bacon-wrapped chorizo. Loved the it
Rob P — Google review
We discovered this place on YouTube and we could say this was probably the most crowded place among any other similar places. On our first try, we skipped and left because it was impossible to order anything due to the crowd. On another day around 5 PM, it was much easier to order something with some patience and 10minutes waiting time. We enjoyed the food but found nothing really special about this place, I think you can find similar or maybe even better food, around the area, so don’t limit yourself to this place or don’t consider this bar as a “must to come and eat” in San Sebastián, explore other places. If you have reading this far then let me tell you that I have been joking to deviate you from here to another bar so that we could enjoy some less crowd at this place to be honest this place has very tasty ones and the bread is the best, the meat is great and calamari was so tasty!! Visit this place but be mindful of people trying to order also so make some space for everyone 🤞

Urchin soup 5/5 Spider Crab tortilla 5/5 Anchovy Cream cheese 3.5/5 This place is highly rated and recommended for a good reason. They could use a bit of a renovation but never the less, enjoyed this place. A MUST when visiting San Sebastian. servers were pleasant and friendly. Food served warm (UNlike at ❌Casa Vergara❌ 🤭where food is served C O L D - Literally & figuratively)

I love this place. Some of the best bites of the year here. Highly recommend the pictured pork sandwich, insane flavor. But the real star is the foie gras, one of the best bites of food I’ve ever had in my entire life. The vermut was also really special and the waiters are incredible. Quite cheap too for what you get, 4 dishes and a drink for around €20
Alex D — Google review
The food was excellent! The vibe was perfect and the staff were all great! Funny, friendly and kept it moving. The cheesecake was perfection! Highly recommend as a must stop! There are tables available but we stood at the bar.
Wendy C — Google review
Best foie gras in town - we went back twice. The sea urchin soup was very creamy and smooth. Overall the best pintxos we’ve had but expect the over crowd and everyone yelling in your ear.

I visited first time of old town restaurant. Other customers also posted, every dishes very tasty and fresh! I try uchin cream, fois grais, mini Berger of beef. I recommend firstly order hot dish, then choice from show case.

Very good tapas - very delicious sea urchin soup, as well as baby squid stuffed with crab. The foie gras on toast had a generous portion of foie. Still my favorite pinxto bar.

La Cuchara de San Telmo is a bustling and popular spot located near a Romanesque church. The atmosphere is lively, with a busy staff shouting orders across the room. Featured in the New York Times, it's a favorite among younger food enthusiasts. The must-try dish is the carrilleras de ternera, or veal cheek, served in red wine sauce.
Superb food and very, very friendly service with a smile. Only slight complaints would be a miscommunication when ordering - we were doing a Pinxtos crawl in the area and wanted to order small portions from the menu so we could continue on our crawl but we were given large portions. The waitress didn’t ask which size from the menu we would like, but we also didn’t communicate this so its. Ot completely her fault. The other thing was that the Beef Entrecôte came out bit tough but flavour was good. Fortunately for us, despite these small issues, the food overall was really, really good so it was a hugely satisfying way to end the crawl! The wine of choice from our waitress was also nicely chilled, fresh and complimented the meal perfectly! Definitely recommend this place ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jimmy — Google review
Of all the pintxos places we have been to in our 3 trips to San Sebastián over the last 6 years, this place stands out the most for us. Most of the food are prepared very well, even those that are in other bar menus. This is the place to go for your Foie gras, Pulpo, Navajas. Their pig’s ears dish is worth going back for. They ran out of cochinillo when we had a late lunch yesterday. We’ll just have to go back!
Mary-Ann O — Google review
One the best meals we had in town. The execution of all the dishes was exceptional, and every ingredient was both treated with consummate skill and elevated by additional flavours. The presentation was also gorgeous, as it's clear from the photos. Unmissable, make sure you go for the piglet and the cheeks if you can only fit two items.
Pedro S — Google review
Our last meal in San Sebastian and we decided to go with this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Pulpo Gallego - after eating so many boiled octopus, was really nice to have a change for a grilled one. It was very well seasoned and smoky! €15 for the portion we had was a steal! Suckling pig - well prepared. Crispy skin and the meat was juicy. Seasoning was spot on too. Entrecotte steak - done medium and have a good smoky taste however I think they were too heavy on the salt so we had to scrape some off. Otherwise its quite nice Risotto - 9/10. Nothing to add. Please order this. Haha...
Peter T — Google review
I went for a Sunday lunch. There was already a line 15mins before opening. The space inside is small, but the service is fast and efficient. You make a line of sorts and order when it is your turn, give them your name, and they'll call you when your food is ready. You'll pickup at the bar counter. This works - if you stand near the bar counter (and not the entrance which is far, and you'll have to jostle your way through). Food wise, I ordered the octopus, suckling pig and foie gras. The octopus and foie gras and amazing. Get those. The suckling pig I would skip - imo the chinese-style suckling pig (not crackling pork belly) is better, the fat is rendered off and the skin is crisp and light. Here, the skin felt fatty and a but chewy. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection but I thought it was too "porky" (the smell). Wish i ordered the steak, that looked amazing. I would definitely return.
Y Y — Google review
Go for the cheeks! Both of the cheeks and split it up between beef cheeks and cod cheeks. The octopus is very tasty. Suckling pig is good and razor clams slightly sandy. Table service is fantastic - Jessica made great wine recommendations and was super nice.
A K — Google review
This is by far the best in town ! Super friendly staff. We arrived at 12:15pm and the restaurant filled up quickly at 12:35pm! Food is devine ( much better than the Michelin recommended pinchos we’ve tried another night). Everything is so good, but if I have to pick my top 3, it will be the risotto, blood sausage and suckling pig.
WY — Google review
Best restaurant in San Sebastián! Our favourite of the many tried. Shared their octopus which was cooked in bacon fat and their razor clams. Despite being already full it was obviously excellent technical cooking and fresh seafood. This was more expensive than other pintxos places we went to though, about eur 33 in total however the menu was more innovative.

Bar
Bar Nestor is a cozy and intimate bar located in the Old City of San Sebastian. It's famous for serving only four items: chuleton or steak chops, fresh tomato salad, blistered padron peppers, and their renowned tortilla Espanola. The bar is small and getting a spot requires patience and strategy as they have limited seating.
It’s definitely worth queuing for. We queued from around 10.20am for the 11.30am tortilla window and to book for steak. We were fourth in the queue and had a table for 12.45pm. It gets quite busy! The tortilla was absolutely incredible. Easily the best I’ve ever had. We also went for the steak, tomatoes and peppers of course. Everything was so flavoursome and juicy. It’s tiny inside and very quaint. You all sit together so it’s very social. I’d highly recommend visiting, definitely worth the wait.
Bav M — Google review
There are plenty of places serving Txuleton in San Sebastián. But none is better than Bar Nestor in my opinion. The simplicity of what they do shows the confidence in the product. Get in the queue early before opening if you want the tortilla. Or if you want to eat here at all to be fair! The tiny restaurant is fully reserved well before the shutter raises to let people in. The tortilla is superb but the reason to come is the beef. You’re given the choice of two steaks. One rib, the other sirloin. They serve 2 and are around a kilo. Once ordered, it’s weighed and cooked. Whilst you wait, a simple salad of tomatoes with olive oil and salt as well as padron peppers are brought to you. And then the meat arrives. This is quite simply the best steak I have ever tasted anywhere in the world. It is sublime. An incredible depth of flavour with the perfect cuisson of caramelisation. There is a very very good wine list with some of the best Riojas and wines from ribero on there. They’re incredibly well priced. Having been here 4 times, I will always be a devotee of this absolute highlight of any food trip to San Sebastián
Adam N — Google review
More of an experience than just a meal. We got in line at 5:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. We were fortunate enough to secure a spot at a table for later that night at 9:15 p.m. We could have eaten earlier, but we'd have had to stand at the bar. We weren't early enough in the queue to secure some of the famous tortilla. While in the queue, you overhear snippets of conversation: nervous excitement, "Have we gotten here early enough?" "Will there be any tortilla left?" "Can steak really be worth queuing this much?!" When you arrive at your allocated time to worship at this temple to beef, you're first greeted by a golden light spilling onto the street, a heavenly aroma of roasting meat, and the clatter and buzz of a busy restaurant. The waiting staff are busy delivering sizzling platters of meat, juicy tomatoes, and glistening padron peppers, but you're greeted with a smile and a nod—you are one of the lucky few. There is no menu. You either say yes or no. But who would say no? The only choice you have is which of the two steaks you're offered is the one for you. The steak is a Txuleta (pronounced chuleta), the cut of beef for the region. It's a bone-in sirloin steak of epic proportions—easily enough for two. You don't wait long before the food starts arriving. First, the tomatoes with olive oil, then a plate of padron peppers, piping hot and delicious. Finally, the steak arrives, cooked fast and hot on a cast iron plate, spitting droplets of fat to forewarn of its arrival. It's presented sliced with the bone, seasoned liberally with sea salt, showing off its rare-ness for all to see. If rare steak isn't your thing, don't worry—you can spread the steak out on the iron plate, and the considerable residual heat will soon finish cooking the meat. But for us, it was perfectly cooked and delicious. In a world where expensive food can be overthought and too complex, this is food stripped back to its basic principles: the best ingredients, cooked well. Simple, but not lesser for that simplicity. As you eat, people come and go—the unfortunate ones who get turned away, the unprepared who didn't queue but get pulled in off the street by Bar Nestor's beefy gravitational pull. The whole process, from the nervous queue to the last morsel, combines to satisfy both soul and stomach. Go and worship the beef—you won’t regret it.
Guy K — Google review
Definitely worth queuing! Best steak so far. And yes, the staff should explain the house rules, they’re not rude if you just walk in hoping to be seated. The only disadvantage is that they don’t have desserts 😁
Xenia — Google review
Luckiest ever to get counter seats by walking in 10 mins before they opened for lunch. Fantastic food - the tomatoes and steak will be a forever memory. Service was friendly and attentive (was given a stool to kneel on because I was too short for the bar 🥺)
Pauline S — Google review
Our best experience in San Sebastián. We started queuing from 10.40am and were second in the queue, we booked the tortilla and steak, and then went back at 12.45am for it. The food was incredible and the whole setting was very sociable. Even the side dishes - tomato salad and padron peppers - were a highlight of our trip. A must do experience!

Lined up at 11:10am and there was already a queue. Hatch opens 11:30am. You put your name down and order, there’s only 2 things - steak with tomatoes and padron peppers and pinxto size tortilla. We were told to come back at 12:45pm. Lively atmosphere and not too chaotic. We ordered all the food options and had 3 glasses of txocholi which came to about £75 for 2 people. Steak was rare when it came out on the sizzling plate, which we proceeded to “cook” ourselves to make it more medium!

Incredible experience. The food really does justify the wait. In peak season, for the 12 o'clock serving, arrive at 11 to get your name on the list. Be prepared to queue. The tortilla only has 16 portions but it's worth it. Again for the 7pm serving, arrive at 6 and take a drink from the bar opposite (makes the wait easier) Don't miss out on the steak either! Cooked to perfection 👌 The staff couldn't be more friendly, this place really does live up to the hype

La Viña is a casual cafe that has been a staple in San Sebastian since 1959. It's renowned for its small plates and the famous Basque burnt cheesecake, which originated here in the 1990s and has gained international fame. The cafe is also known for its regional wines. Situated on a street lined with some of the town's best pintxo bars, La Viña stands out as a must-visit spot.
La Viña is known for its lively and energetic atmosphere, attracting many travelers. This spot is indeed a must-try, particularly for its Basque burnt cheesecake. Here, of course, we enjoyed dishes other than cheesecake. The service was friendly and inviting and the seating was comfortable. We would definitely recommend stopping by.

Cheesecake cheesecake and more cheesecake. The most famous place for cheesecake in the region. Is it the best one? You'd have to go to the other places that some locals say are also good or better, but it's certainly a fantastic cheesecake, and the best one I had. Basque style.
Marc B — Google review
The line is crazy but you should just get it and order quickly. Honestly, I expected more from this place but it was pretty mid, extremely overpacked and loud. The basque cheesecake we came for was €6,50 for the portion which they split into two slices for better taste I guess was really good (but we expected something much more delicious for the price and hype this place has). When you take it to go they just give prepacked box with cheesecake inside, maybe this affected somehow
Nargiza A — Google review
Great cheesecake! Place is packed pretty much every night we passed by it though you can share a table with other people. Easier to get seats if you’re not a big group.
Mikaela M — Google review
The line was pretty short on a Wednesday afternoon. We ordered their famous Basque cheesecake. It was absolutely delicious. It is lighter and creamier than I've ever had and less sweet. My only regret was getting only one slice per person!
C P — Google review
Incredible. We were only going to have the cheesecake as we heard this was the top place to go. But we couldn’t resist the other dishes too. The gentleman who served us was so friendly and always smiling. We had the meatball, stuffed mussels, plate of jamón and chorizo. Everything was exceptional.
Bav M — Google review
I came a little earlier so missed the big rush, but it was still busy. Good part is I didn’t have to wait in line, only a few minutes at the counter. After trying it I get what the hype is all about. Best description I give is that it was very flavorful, creamy, and the most delectable cheesecake I’ve had. I would say it was a cheesecake with a consistency and texture of flan. Compared to the amount of business they get it’s quite small inside so seating can be difficult. Going early, helped as I was able to secure a place to sit and enjoy my cheesecake.
Roya M — Google review
Fabulous cheesecake, worth the hype and a must when visiting San Sebastián. Joined the queue 15 minutes before opening and definitely worth the wait. All seems a little chaotic but we were served very quickly. Delicious creamy cheesecake €6 per slice.

Gandarias is a popular and traditional restaurant in San Sebastian, known for its seafood, steak, and small bites. The homey atmosphere features cookware and ham hocks hanging from the walls. Locals and tourists alike frequent this establishment for its delicious pintxos, including options like goat cheese and pistachios crostini, roasted red peppers with balsamic dressing, and fried guindilla peppers.
We had an amazing meal at Gandarias. It is essential to book as they are always full. The pintxos in the bar are also amazing and might make for a nice appetizer. We enjoyed the spider crab as well as the bread but the octopus was the best we have had anywhere in Spain. The main courses were also great, lamb and beef fillet . Service was fantastic, as was the wine list, also by the glass a great selection.

Definitely recommend reserving in advance, though we were lucky to be seated as walk-ins. The food was great, prices are on the higher side, but still reasonable for the quality. Don’t miss the jamón; it was possibly the best I’ve ever had! The suckling pig was flavorful, though the skin was a bit tough. The pintxos are also fantastic, especially the T-bone skewers!

So good we went back two nights in a row. Pintxos were the best. T-bone steak on a stick, crab stuffed pepper (the best) and so much more. Menu in French, English and Spanish.

I visited lunchtime at 12:15 one person. I choose entre is spider crub of tarutaru. Main dish is whole grill of turbot. Dessert is fondant chocolate and lemon sorbet. Every dish of course good, but turbot was especially delicious dish! Of course pinchoce I ate last night, that’s very good too. I recommend this restaurant.

Another excellent stop in San Sebastian. Traditional Basque, everything delicious and nearly zero tourists, this is a local spot. The crab salad with anchovies and tomatoes was really great. Anchovies are made in house and like eating butter. Service was great but no habla Englais, but super friendly and our Spanglish got us by just fine. Menu was English.

Really solid pick for txuleta and turbot! Service was excellent. We opted for their dine-in menu. The scallops were tasty and the turbot was cooked perfectly. Service very much steak house like. Just a heads up for dine-in they require you order at least one starter and a main course per person.

Narru Restaurant offers a sleek and modern dining experience, with a terrace that provides a perfect setting for enjoying refined Basque dishes and pincho snacks. Located near Buen Pastor cathedral, the restaurant's outdoor setup is popular during the nicer months, attracting a lively crowd of locals. The menu features simple yet well-executed dishes, such as kokotxas prepared in three different styles and oysters topped with apple vinaigrette.
An incredible meal for two. The waiter explained the menu thoroughly (in English), even suggesting when we had ordered too much and offering half portions. The fish was cooked impeccably, and the crab dish was a real favorite

Some of the dishes are exceptional - mushrooms ravioli and the lemon desert, but the rest were a bit bland. The service should be improved, too. Yes, I’m a bit more critical but it’s Michelin recommended .

Reservations needed on Saturday at the bar unless you’re having a quick tapas bite before 8pm. The bar was packed between 7-8.30pm. Nice buzz in the place. Staff tried really hard to find our group of 6 people a space. The pulpo was one of the best we’ve had in the week after having it in several small bars in Madrid and San Sebastián. Cheesecake had great runny texture. Paired nicely with the berry sorbet. Not quite the typical basque burnt cheesecake but a good dessert nonetheless.
CY L — Google review
enjoyed the Basque cheesecake here. Thin top crust, soft airy core, very sophisticatedly sweetened (not sweet at all) and pairs perfectly with the WONDERFUL raspberry sorbet served on the side (i loved the sorbet equally). Serving size good for 2 @ €10 Pleasant service Beautifully designed modern restaurant
C Y — Google review
Let me start with the most important: the food and wine here are excellent, we had a tasty and abundant lunch, served by some really nice people (kudos to the sommelier!). But the service in total was not to same level of the food and careful design of the interior. Partly no doubt, to our lack of skills in Spanish, but we love to know what we are eating, and the plates were served without a word. What could not be due to language was that we had to ask multiple times for water or a refill of oil. In the end the wonderful sommelier jumped in and took control - his English was excellent, which helped of course. But again, these are minor points, just to provide a way to improve! The food was gorgeous, the tuna belly heavenly soft, the beef ravioli with foie made us speachless. Then tender beef and two gorgeous deserts We xould not ask for more, and stumbled outside.
Ewout K — Google review
We went there for some pintxos, don’t be scared by the high price, the quality is there, as well as the very fast & professional service. The open kitchen is buzzing & is nice to watch. Food wise everything wa supe tasty & well presented. They seem to have a nice wine list, I would suggest them to present it to the guests instead of asking what type of wine they want. Very good experience overall!
A G — Google review
10/10 if you are looking for something more upmarket. The food was super fresh and well cooked. I would highly recommend the tomato salad which had the nicest olive oil. The red bream was also one of the best dishes I’ve had.
Craig F — Google review
Amazingly good, easily worthy of a Michelin star. Congratulations to the chef for the excellent pairing of ingredients. Nothing too whacky on the menu, but just the right level of creativity and thoughtful presentation. We had the 8 course tasting menu, with fish and meat mains being full sized portions (so much more than a “taste”). Wine list contained many delicious and reasonably priced Spanish wines. Staff were lovely too. Atmos gets 3 stars only because of the room layout which was restricted presumably due to the building’s age. All in all a fantastic experience, would highly recommend.

Bodega Donostiarra Gros is a charming spot with a rustic ambiance that serves up traditional Basque pintxos, sandwiches, brochettes, and rice dishes. Established in 1928, this bodega is renowned for its delectable tortillas and ensalada de morros. The show-stopping pintxos steal the spotlight here, but the menu also features hearty options like callos y morros and black pudding with rice.
Good food with reasonable price compared to the old town. A bit slow with the food orders. We were seated outside, a bit windy could have had more heater. Great service although there was just 1 person who took care of the guests outside, he was superb! OBS! It’s sister bar i just across the street of this restaurant, so check the location where you gonna eat.

Peter T — Google review
Unfortunately, I am compelled to leave a negative review for this restaurant - which I was excited and eager to try. The food is really quite good and we did enjoy the menu. That said, the service here, at least with our waitress, was the worst I have experienced in a long time across many cities and countries. That’s especially unfortunate in a city renowned for its excellent restaurant scene. Our waitress was rude and unhelpful, and never cleaned our table throughout the dinner, which covered numerous rounds of pintxos and drinks. See photos! Further, her behavior was dismissive and rude every time we ordered. The place isn’t cheap, and with better service this would be fair. But when going to a good restaurant you expect at least a basic level of respect. It should also be noted that this restaurant prioritizes turning over tables quickly - which is fine, but the style of dining would ideally demand a slow and unrushed experience. Something to be aware of. Overall, great food, truly and remarkably bad service. Too bad.

Restaurant
Bar Antonio is a laid-back restaurant and bar in the Gros neighborhood of San Sebastian, specializing in Basque cuisine. The establishment prioritizes the freshness of its pintxos, preparing dishes to order and using high-quality seasonal ingredients from trusted suppliers. The cozy spot offers a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors. One of their standout dishes is the Tortilla, which is dense, savory with a touch of sweetness from onions and potatoes that give it extra body.
The best tortilla I had on my trip. I wish I could go back. The staff are very clearly used to managing large groups of tourists coming for their tortilla. They had a funny nonchalant way of serving everyone. We arrived after they had served the last tortilla. So we had to wait 30 minutes - the last group cycled out and other started to show up.

Antonio Restaurant is a true local gem and absolutely lives up to its reputation. Known for their famous tortilla, this spot draws a steady crowd every morning — and for good reason. They make multiple tortillas fresh each morning, and they’re only served from opening until noon, so plan accordingly. Yes, there’s almost always a line, but trust me — it’s 100% worth the wait. The tortillas come out piping hot, with that perfect soft yet slightly runny texture that makes them so delicious and satisfying. You can tell they’re made with care and experience. Even with the constant rush of people, the staff handles the busy mornings effortlessly — friendly, efficient, and clearly used to the crowd. If you’re in town, this is one of those must-visit breakfast spots that truly captures the local spirit. Just get there early, bring a little patience, and you’ll be rewarded with one of the best tortillas you’ll ever have.

Everything we ordered was just incredible! This was the best pinxo bar we went to throughout all our stay in San Sebastián, it was recommended by a local friend of mine. I would definitely recommend #1 ravioli de langostino #2 vieiras (scallops) and #3 the solomillo (tenderloin). The tortilla is only served from 9 am til noon, so we went again the next day. It was totally worth it.
Melany R — Google review
Place is an institution and packed like a can of sardines. If you can't handle the heat then don't come. They serve their famous tortilla and be aware the main menu is after 1230 afternoon. Guys are hustling behind the bar so be ready to order. As Arnold said. . . I'll be back! I'm back - 2 days later. My friend Manuel took care of us again. Delicious food and great wine..tataki, scallops, prawn ravioli, crispy oxtail. Stay alert n grab a table!
A K — Google review
An absolute must visit. Not just for its signature tortilla de patatas — a three-inch-thick omelette unlike any we’ve ever tried, with a lightly toasted crust and scrumptious layers of potato and caramelized onion, all held softly together by egg. And not just for what I think are its Michelin-worthy pintxos either — “Arzak-style” creations like scallops a la plancha with truffle purée, oxtail crisps, and the mind-blowingly good prawn ravioli in Martini sauce. But mostly, for the warm, lively atmosphere in this tiny Donostia bar even on a rainy evening — plates of tortilla flying off the counter, the cerveza tap flowing nonstop, and the two waiters casually chatting with guests from all over the world. Everyone squeezed in shoulder to shoulder, sharing some of the best food San Sebastián has to offer. If you ever find yourself in this corner of northern Spain, don’t miss Bar Antonio. Grab a seat at the bar, order as many pintxos as you can, and strike up a conversation with the fellow travelers next to you. This isn’t just a meal, this is one of those travel moments that stay with you.

This taberna is a local gem and they’re famous for the tortilla which really lives up to its reputation! Never had something like that before and it is simply amazing! Coming back for more delicious food!
Malik A — Google review
Everything we ordered was good! The server was great - took your orders, was quick with the service, and even greeted and did small talk to most people. The buzz for this restaurant is well deserved.
Marc Y — Google review
Antonio Bar manages to be both traditional and inventive. The highlights were unforgettable: the ravioli de gambas with Martini sauce is a small masterpiece, delicate yet bursting with flavor, while the crujiente de rabo (oxtail) was rich, crispy, and deeply satisfying. Their tortilla is beautifully made, perfectly soft inside, and the best I tasted in Donostia. Not everything hit the same heights and I must say the scallops and the pistachio cheesecake were very good but not as delicious as the rest. Service is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere lively without being overwhelming. If you’re pintxo-hopping in San Sebastián, Antonio Bar is a must-stop on the route.

Restaurante Zelai Txiki offers a modern twist on traditional dishes, set in a picturesque location overlooking San Sebastian. The restaurant prides itself on self-sufficiency, sourcing vegetables from its own garden and crafting homemade charcuterie. With a focus on local produce, the menu features creative touches such as tomato ice cream paired with squid and spherified citrus juices enhancing the flavors of lobster.
On a quiet residential district, up on a hill. Quaint place but pretty good food! Compared to our previous night of 3* Michelin, this one is actually even better. My husband’s order of suckling pig is generous and really yummy. Overall a great satisfying meal.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch on the terrace of this stylish hillside restaurant with a Michelin Green Star and a Repsol sun. The quality of all the food was excellent and the portion sizes were generous. Ordered the fish soup and croquettes and received a mushroom starter on the house. Particularly impressed with the delicate green salad that we ordered to accompany our mains. The service was very good as well. No problem with packing in the restaurant car park.

Lovely restaurant and good food. Had so many great meals in San Sebastian which is why this didn't stand out for me. I had the Tuna taco which did not come with a taco but rather in a lovely bowl with a broth/sauce. Nice but lacked flavour

Fine dining at its best. A good varied menu. Lobster, prawns, wild pigeon, suckling pig all cooked and presented with passion.
David G — Google review
visited due to the green Michelin star. the four of us spent ~300€ on food and drinks had various starters, mains and dessert. the restaurant uses good quality ingredients, but the execution is mediocre at best problems: - one starter was the grilled octopus, the tentacles were full of sand. - the foie gras was OK, but it was nothing special, supermarket bought delivers the same experience; the dressing was tasting better, but that's not what one would order that dish for. - hake was fresh and good quality the dish itself was absolutely basic, swimming in the green sauce, aka fat, and it didnt have much of a taste. - the spider crab is not worth it at all, stew/lasagna like dish tasting a bit lke crab - pigeon: the well done version was actually really good, although it was "rose". the regular one was basically blue. - desserts: we had to order the french toast in advance. despite that, it was not properly prepared, it was way too wet, and the "curd"/ crust was way too sweet - service: we got the bread refilled all the time, and the dishes were served at the same time, also warm, but basically that's it, so delivered the absolute minimum one would expect. at this price range this restaurant simply cannot provide the experience one would expect, hence would not recommended. better tasting food costing half or 2/3 of the price tastes much better in the city. the ingredients were actually good, but it would be time this restaurant learns how to use them.
David P — Google review
Food was fine, but the second we sat down someone walked immediately up to ask what we wanted to order. We had just the menus in hand. Not even 5 minutes after, they asked again Then for the whole evening they were pushing us to order faster for everything. At the entrees, asking if we already decided what we wanted for dessert. They asked us this 4 times before we even had our main course! Pushing and telling us that they were closing the kitchen. This was around 22:00, in the menu it says clearly that the kitchen is open past 00:00. Before even ordering dessert, they asked us if they could already order a taxi for us. Felt very unwanted here. Hospitality level is the lowest as can be. Not your moneys worth!! Also they have a weird obsession with sorbet ice cream, it’s with every entree
Senna — Google review
We visited these restaurants because of the green star. A restaurant with a beautiful terrace and a view, plus bread with a wonderfully crispy crust, but the quality of the dishes is simply too ordinary, without proper seasoning, without depth of flavor. We poured wine and water ourselves, so the service didn't help either. We were a bit surprised by this lack of good taste, because from the outside it looked like a professional kitchen. Maybe it was a bad day and someone forgot to try the dishes served, but this is not a place I can recommend.
Iwona N — Google review
The food was pretty underwhelming for a Michelin star restaurant, and given the price. We had far better tasting food at other restaurants/Pintxo bars during our stay in San Sebastian. Service was pretty poor for a Michelin star restaurant with dishes plonked on the table with no explanation of what we were being served. Staff spent ~15 minutes of our meal with ladders out right next to us, shouting to each other, to adjust the lighting to accommodate the desires of the table next to us which rather ruined the ambiance of the meal. And the bill took about 30 minutes to arrive at the end of the meal.

Amelia by Paulo Airaudo is a renowned two-Michelin star restaurant situated in the picturesque La Concha Bay, at the heart of San Sebastian. Chef Airaudo showcases his culinary expertise through an innovative tasting menu that combines avant-garde New Basque cuisine with classical French techniques. The majority of the dishes feature fresh seafood sourced from the nearby sea, offering guests a true taste of the region.
Went to Amelia with my wife and high expectations because of the 2 Michelin stars, got seated by the bar with the Kitchen in front. Great atmosphere and vibe in the restaurant, Chef Paulo and his fresh team really live up to all expectations, and beyond expectations. Seasonal menu with Amelia pairing was so impressive from start to finish, not a second where we lost our attention; Japanese omakase Italian at it’s finest. Only the best products are used in every course, I have become a big fan of Paulo Airaudo. We were so impressed by how smooth everything runs in the restaurant, and by how flavorful and artistic all the courses were, Amazing to have experienced this wonderful evening, we will never forget this, that is for sure. Thank you Paulo and staff! Amazing work (We started with a cocktail at the Blind Pig, which is also a very nice addition to the experience, because we were an hour early.)

This experience was an exceptional opportunity. We were delighted in every aspect. The food was the finest expression of each ingredient, prepared to perfection and then plated to restore all faith and possibly to our soul. The staff is exceptional. We felt welcomed, and taken care of in every way. The level of professionalism and excellence was unmatched. We were mesmerized by the quiet perfection of the open kitchen, the artistry of the plating and service, as well as the wild creativity of the pairing both alcohol and non-alcoholic. Just fabulous.

Absolutely fantastic experience — our favourite meal in Spain after visiting several Michelin-starred restaurants. Everything from the service and setting to the pacing was flawless, but the food was the true highlight. Each dish was inventive, balanced, and beautifully presented, with the langoustine with champagne sauce standing out as one of the best bites of our entire trip. The decor was funky and eclectic, adding personality and warmth to the fine-dining experience. The wine pairing was our favourite overall — thoughtful and well-matched — though we would have appreciated a bit more explanation from the sommelier about each wine’s origin and the reasoning behind the pairings. A truly world-class restaurant, and in our view, very deserving of a third star.

This was probably the best meal of my life. Everything was perfect. But in addition to the meal being amazing, the staff were wonderful. I’ve been to Michelin star restaurants all over the world and it was my second time here. We were a table of 4 but our other friend couldn’t make it as he was admitted in the hospital with a bad flu so we amended the reservation to 3 a couple of days prior to the our dinner. I understand that they charge us for the 4th person which is completely fair but in exchange of that we couldn’t order alcohol for same amount. Their argument is that ingredients were sourced, but they can give us a voucher for future use. They mean to say if we come after 4/5 months they’ll use the same ingredients? This is a joke as they are moving to a new premise. One of the Austrian sympathised with us and she said it was wrong but couldn’t do anything. Spoke to some other people in the same industry and they said it’s overrated and the chef is arrogant as hell. I own two 5 star hotels, I do understand hospitality is tough and a thankless industry but we shouldn’t take our guests for granted. If there’s no guest how can one run the business. The young chefs were wonderful but the French lady who was serving us was so casual, we ask for a dessert wine post dinner and she gets us white wine. There were few such errors during the service. They took everyone’s Polaroid pictures post dinner but not ours since we pointed the errors. The food is good but if it’s this kind of attitude and service one shouldn’t go there. There are better places in San Sebastián and all around the world. Won’t go back to this place!

The food is amazing, I enjoyed deserts. Wagyu comes with additional charge of 75 eur, which you are informed in advance. I would definitely recommend visiting the restaurant for the quality of the dishes. However, the hospitality didn’t quite meet my expectations. The team sometimes presents the courses in a robotic way, yelling at you because of the music (the playlist is great tbh) or you hear yelling at other people 😄 This creates slightly awkward atmosphere. When we tried to chat with other guests at the bar, they interrupted us to continue with courses which felt uncomfortable.

Dining at Amelia was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The food was exceptional – not only incredibly flavorful, but also made with rare, high-quality ingredients that truly stood out. Each dish was beautifully presented, with meticulous attention to detail, proving that creativity and taste can exist in perfect harmony. The service was equally outstanding – warm, professional, and perfectly paced, making us feel welcomed and relaxed from start to finish. We also loved the space itself – a modern, beautifully designed restaurant with a refined yet relaxed atmosphere. It felt elegant without being overly formal or stiff, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A unique culinary journey where aesthetics, flavor, and heartfelt hospitality come together. An experience we’ll carry with us for years to come.

Walked in and was fortunate to get a seat at the bar. Seems to be a popular restaurant and I can see why now. The Tartare was delicious as was the smoker tuna with a tasty ratatouille to complement the flavour. Nice bread, solid wine pours. Staff were friendly and spoke perfect English. Most definitely recommend heading to the area to try this place.

This bar has real class, with a cozy atmosphere that feels almost like a French bistro. The food was amazing — fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. We arrived late and some items from the short menu were already sold out, but the staff offered us excellent alternatives that didn’t disappoint. A great experience overall! The dishes we had are listed on the receipt

Brilliant service, it was faultless and the staff have a friendly and upbeat nature about them. We ordered the tuna belly, steak tartare, pumpkin salad and the rabbit tagliatelle - each dish was so good. Delicate flavours and so well balanced. The pumpkin salad is a real under dog here - it dosent look the most impressive thing on the plate but my god, the flavours!!! Loved the atmosphere with the vinyls playing also - 10/10 would recommend.

Loved this place so much! If I lived close by I'd be there every week! Menu changes daily. Place is cozy/welcoming & Servers were all great but it was such a relief to get simple properly executed food & actually feel satisfied by the end of the meal. It's real rustic food not a "food experience" forcing you to grab a burrito/burger afterwards lol. Nothing wrong with food experiences but with reviews/internet nowadays everyone is so focused on photos & foofoola that it's hard to get something that hits the spot & actually tastes good in the end. -Grilled Eggplant: perfectly grilled with a delightful rich, aromatic romesco sauce & dried cranberries for sweetness & chew. -Whole Roasted Poussin (lil' chicken not gamey): very juicy, nice color/caramelization on the skin, rich sauce made with lardons to die for, over a bed of roasted leeks. Serves at least 2 people. I miss you <3. Left my heart at Gerald's Bar! *Went 8/10, I forgot to upload notes/photos while on vacation

Honestly amazing experience! We had to wait for 2 hours but it was completely worth it. We ordered drinks and some entries to survive the wait. The stuff super busy but knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Food delicious 🤤 prices are very fair! Edit: adding pictures of the main dish

Special family meal out. Service exceptional. Great food. Short menu served tapas style. We had grilled melon with pickled cucumber and pistachio, grilled tomato and green bean on a romescu sauce, duck breast with aubergine and onion and a roasted pouisson on a bed of grilled green peppers. For desert we had a hazelnut blueberry frangipane tart. The negroni was perfection as was the carafe of Rioja my brother had. Really good coffee too!

This has been one of our go to dining spots in San Sebastian. Our last visit disappointing. We opted for the quail and the fish specials. The should have mentioned that the fish was whole bone in sardines. We noticed that others got larger whole fish. The quail was ok but overcooked. We'll give it another try. Maybe just a bad day.

Great atmosphere and service. Food was delicious. We shared several plates and had a lovely time. Excellent wines to pair with the food. The tuna tartare / tomato salad and fig / peach & squid salad was lovely. A must go to when in Saint Sebastian.

The relaxed atmosphere provides an ideal setting to savor haute versions of pintxos while overlooking the iconic Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Coro. From creamy cod croquettes to roasted pork belly with hummus, each dish showcases a blend of avant-garde and traditional cuisine.
Solid place. Unlike my previous sad experiences in the area, I enjoyed this place immensely. There was service that didn’t stress me out and table tops etc to eat your food at without feeling like a fugitive. The lady serving us was polite and not time pushy. Onto the food…. Tasty and Tasty and Tasty. Totally recommend the Foie Gras which came in a pistachio custard like sauce. Total attack on the heart but worth it. When in town, make an effort to visit this establishment. Beautiful setting right next to a baroque church ⛪️

One of the best restaurants in San Sebastián, my order was patatas bravas, Arroz (I love it 😍) and carrillera. Food was tasty. Also I would like to send special thanks to staff and special thanks to Kata and Martin, they were amazing and helpful person, Kata advice me a lot and explained the menu well, thanks a lot to her. And Martin he let me feel that restaurant is my home. Highly recommended to visit and try food here.

I went on a Sunday at about 4pm and did not have to wait. You either eat standing at the bar (and you order there) or you sit at a table (and wait to be served). Service is good. Attentive, friendly service. I ordered the pinxtos: steak, foie gras, cod with pepper sauce, prawn bruschetta. They were all fantastic. Would definitely return.

We came here for the octopus as we heard it was one of the best places to get it in San Sebastián and it definitely did not disappoint! The portion size was huge (enough for two to share) and it was delicious. Wish I lived nearby! The pintxos were also great.
Eloise R — Google review
First time here and really enjoyed it! The seafood was fresh, especially the octopus and hake fish, both were excellent. The beef was tasty but cut a bit too thick to me, so it was very chewy. Overall, great experience and friendly service!

Wonderful place in the heart of San Sebastian’s Old Town! The atmosphere is cozy, stylish, and full of character. The food is delicious and has its own special touch. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service is excellent. It is a real pleasure to sit by the window and admire the beautiful architecture around. The restaurant is located right across from the stunning sculpture “Armonía del Sonido” on the façade of the Santa María del Coro Basilica, a masterpiece of modern art that perfectly reflects the harmony of this place. I was very pleased with my visit and will definitely come back! 🌿✨
Alexander G — Google review
Great place! It was super busy and you need to wait 5-10 mins inside to make an order, then to picking up your order another hustle to get in thru the crowd! However, fois gras and scallops were the superstars! We couldnt even take a photo and just ate! At the end, if you dont mind the crowd, one of the best in the city.

Fantastic food - from the Pintxos to the food from the menu, went to a couple of bars in San Sebastián and this was my favorite one. You have to get the pork belly with hummus! Also very kind service, reasonable prices so I can’t wait to go back here one day :)

Excellent restaurant. We went for dinner and had Jamon- the best you can imagine! 2 kinds of shell fish and a grilled fish and steak. Best potatos ever! Everything was amazing and the service was very friendly and professional. Definitely highly recommended restaurant in the heart of the old town.

Great tapas bar in San Sebastian Really enjoyed this place, came here with my son we had lots of different tapas. The prices were decent so was the beer. Service at the bar as you expect but really fast and polite & helpful. I highly recommend this place, very typical bar, perfect!

Ha Ha, had to give a 2 * for service as I had, a hilarious "argument", about my confirmed booking, we laughed and hugged it out. Food: don't go to the famous Txulelaias... the best we had was HERE. So many amazing dishes / racciones. And of course, the Ceps 10/10 on all thier food.

It took a long time for our solomillo steak to come but boy, was it good! All the pintxos were good, especially the salmon, pimento gernica, and jamon y quest. Bar area very crowded, hard to get service. Tables available in the next room.

Not much to say. The duck is the best dish we have had in San Sebastián so far hands down. The ceviche is also a must try. Excellent food, nice wine, great service from Imanol. We booked a table but seems like it is easy to walk in.

First meal after landing in San Seb and it was a great way to start the long weekend trip! It was raining outside but we managed to snag the last standing table inside. Straight to the bar to put in our order. Didn’t know what to get just went for a lucky dip and it was delicious!! The highlights were the beef tartare, the bao and the beef cheek on a bed of mash potato. I still dream of this!! The tuna pintxos and squid ink croquette were delicious too but the taco was the least favourite. Overall super happy with this meal and would go back just for that pork bao and beef cheeks!!

Very good pintxos at very reasonable prices. Tried the beef cheek, mushroom rice and the egg. Everything yasted perfect! Three dishes, a beer and a cocktail all for less than 30 euros.

Best pintxos we’ve had in San Sebastián! It was also less busy during the day compared to other popular bars. Highly recommend the ceviche. The best jamon croquettes too! We also tried ropa vieja and the taco. The taco was delicious but personally I missed the spicy part (I like them really hot like in Mexico) but the meet was great! I do recommend reserving a table in the evening though!

Tapas bar
Cervecerías La Mejillonera is a lively brewery with a maritime atmosphere that offers an array of delectable dishes such as mussels, spicy potatoes, and draft beers. It's known for its bustling ambiance and popular mussel dishes like tigres in slightly spicy tomato sauce and al vapor. The bar is often crowded, adding to its authentic charm.
Great fish style tapas bar, with a very small menu but everything on it tastes incredible and the portions are huge for a very reasonable price - you have to try the mussels and their calamari sandwich! Also a very fast service :)
Torsten R — Google review
You get the vibe this is fast and furious pit stop, something like a kebab shop for seafood. Catering to people looking for a bit of seafood that isn’t fancy but does the job, while you’re drinking lots and throwing the shells in a tray under the bar. The mussels were a little overpowered by the overly fishy creamy sauce and the fried squid felt a little too fried (if that’s even a thing?). Anyway it was cheap and definitely cheerful.
Jit S — Google review
Reallyyyy good mussels, enjoyed the tigre sauce. Cute little shop, didn’t have to wait when going immediately at opening. Large tour groups showed up right after but they serve people pretty fast.
Pirashan R — Google review
This is the perfect place to start your San Sebastián food tour. Good service, plenty of space by the bar and more importantly , amazing mussels. My recommendation is to go for the “Tigres” served in a delicious tomato sauce. But if you have the time , go several times and try everything!
Alfonso A — Google review
Went eagerly as first customers at 11.30am and were not disappointed. Absolutely mouthwatering, fresh mussels served with different sauces. Tried the tomato one, which had a very light hint of spiciness, and one with just lemon juice. Fell in love with both. Also tried the calamari with pimientos, really nice and tender, couldn't get enough. Gotta say we might've skipped the potatoes if we could choose again, to save some tummy space for more seafood 🤣. We were served promptly, and though we had to eat our food standing, the quality of the food more than made up for this. Definitely, definitely coming again!
To Y — Google review
Excellent fried squid - best I’ve ever had as it was both tender, cooked, well seasoned yet not oily or salty. Excellent fresh mussels with onion however our onion had a bit of a bitter aftertaste. Paid eur 12.3 in total
Yiran — Google review
La Mejillonera is not about fancy presentation. It is about energy, speed and flavor. The menu is short, focused and legendary: mussels, patatas bravas and calamari are the stars here. The mussels come piled high with your choice of sauce (the “brava” and “vinagreta” are essential) and the patatas bravas are iconic — crispy, doused in their trademark orange sauce and addictive. The atmosphere is pure San Sebastián: crowded counters, napkins on the floor, waiters shouting orders and plates appearing in seconds. It is chaotic in the best possible way and part of the experience. Prices are very reasonable and you leave full and happy. Not the place for refinement but if you want a true taste of Donostia pintxo culture in its most authentic, noisy and delicious form, La Mejillonera is unmissable.
Cobbi F — Google review

What a warm welcome at Zazpi! I made the reservation before travelling to Donostia mainly based on the recommendation in Guide Michelin. We got to choose a very nice table which was perfect for the four of us and service was excellent. Food was amazing and the Txakoli wine from Aitaren turned out to be a revelation. Don’t leave without tasting the chocolate moon!

Fantastic food and service! We have been in Spain for over a month and this was the best and most attentive service we had. The staff cares and it shows. Food was amazing, delicious, both in taste and presentation. Delivered perfectly. Dessert - mmmm. SO good. The room was brightly lit, and this made ambience not up to the rest of the experience. Some dimmers would solve that. Hope they figure this out, it would make it fully five stars. Loved it ♥️

I managed to snag a reservation last minute from what I’m assuming was a cancellation. This was one of the best meals we had in San Sebastián. We shared the tiger prawns and then had the ribeye and monkfish for mains. We ordered a side of grilled veggies with the mains as well. Everything was so fresh and perfectly cooked. Portion sizes were excellent. The other photos on Google make the servings seem quite small and fancy but that was not our experience. For dessert we had the caramelized French toast, which was possibly the best dessert we had on this trip. I almost wanted to order a second portion. We left the meal very satisfied and happy. I would definitely return

PRO'S: Restaurant Ikaitz jatetxea deserves it's Michelin Basque Traditional designation 2022-2025. Our group of four had excellent sliced tomatoes, beef carpacchio, cheese salad with nuts & green, grilled mixed vegetables with grilled pork, grilled duck & seared tuna, with a red wine & white wine, all delicious. The dessert was okay. CON'S: The restaurant was one floor below ground and hard to find from the street. SUMMARY: Restaurant Ikaitz jatetxea is a splendid place worth visiting for an excellent meal.

Juantxo Taberna is a cozy and popular spot located in the charming Old Town of Donostia-San Sebastian. This small counter-service cafe is renowned for its delicious sandwiches, sharing plates, and traditional potato omelets. The bar offers a unique twist on the classic Spanish omelette, with their specialty being the tortilla de txaka, a surimi and mayonnaise filled omelette that has won over locals and visitors alike.
Probably Juantxo the best place for Spanish sandwiches in San Sebastian. Tortillas in bread with crab or potato, or just calamari. It has many options and good prices. There are some tables inside and some outside too. The stuff is fast and efficient. Recommend it!

The people were professional, the vibe was vibin, the music was fun...and it's the worst food I've had in months. The bread was stale and dry, the "vegan burger" was just undercooked falafels, and the caramelized onions tasted like they came from a jar that sat open in a fridge for too long. I would love to give this place a good review because I did like the people and the vibe, but the food was actually revolting.

A traditionally decorated cafe serving local Spanish sandwiches, tortilla and coffee. Very well priced and quick service. Only 6 tables inside but you are welcomed to stand and eat. We ordered the mushroom omelette which was extremely tasty and full of mushrooms. The bacalao omelette was fluffy and not too salty. A great little place to stop for a quick breakfast/lunch! 👍

This is one of those stores were you spend some time trying to decide what to get, because after all you want to try everything they have. Those pastries are so aesthetically pleasing! La Txuleteria is a highly recommended grill restaurant in San Sebastian, known for its excellent service and delicious food. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making sure guests feel well taken care of. Despite the language barrier mentioned in some reviews, it was not an issue at all. The T-bone steak comes as a generous serving with sides like tomato salad and peppers. The wine recommendations are also top-notch.
Absolutely amazing meal. The cook came and showed us the meat before we agreed to the size. He also recommended the best sides Nd how many our party should order. We only varied slightly from his recommendation and everything was amazing. The tomatoes—I could eat two more orders by myself. The green peppers were bursting with flavor. The meat was tasty and tender. All the flaky salt on each dish was perfect. The desserts were a nice end to the meal.
Alissa O — Google review
I would not recomend this place as the prices for the meat are quite high for how it tasted. The meat was quite chewy and served totally raw. You then have to continue cooking it by urself. The taste of it was quite nice but way too much fat on it. I had quite many better steaks in other Restaurants in Donostia. The side dishes and service were pretty good.

We were so grateful to be treated so nicely and as everyone else in the area is struggling to get into certain busy and trendy places this was a welcome retreat from that! Definitely recommend!

If you don’t want to be bullied then stay away. Waiter bullied us into a certain steak was very chewy. I had to spit out into my napkin with each bite that I could not chew. Which was every bite. And did forbid we complain. He was that much of a bully. This steak was 62.00. He pressured us into everything. It was not crowded. He acted like his time was valuable and really didn’t allow us to look at the menu. He stood over us really pushing the dishes I see on the other reviews here. Like this is there standard dishes. The tomatoes were good but the waiter and the streak were not. We should have left but we wanted to try this steak that is famous in San Sebastián and we were tired from a day of sight seeing. I gave myself a day to think about this review. So I would be clear in what it was we didn’t like. Never again will I go there. Be warned. Unless you like being bullied and eating a chewy steak don’t go here

10000% recommend!! We had to come here twice because the price and the quality were unmatched! The first time we visited was for dinner and even though they barely spoke English, we had a great variety of dishes. The Galician steak was amazing and we got a hot stone to grill the steak to our liking. The second time we had the T-bone steak which was equally delicious. All side dishes were quite good too. The tortilla was a bit mushy for my liking but everything else was very delicious! Again: 1000% recommend. The quality of the meat alone especially for this price is unbeatable!

Tapas bar
Bar & grill
La Espiga is a lively and chic cafe-bar adorned with murals, offering Spanish snacks, larger plates, beers, and local wines. It's renowned for its "delicia" pintxo, which consists of hard-boiled egg, salt-cured anchovy, onion and garlic mixture on bread with Worcestershire sauce. This historic bar has been serving patrons since 1928 and is currently managed by the fourth generation of the founding family.
Stopped here on the off-chance we might be able to get a snack and we were in luck. It was late lunchtime and the place was packed with locals. We found a couple of seats towards the back and enjoyed a couple of drinks, pintxos and cheesecake. The cheesecake was the best we tasted on our trip to Bilbao and San Sebastian. It was reasonable value too.

We visited twice during our stay. Once for afternoon coffee and once for Pintxos in the early evening. The modern decor is comfortable but the venue is one of the oldest. The coffee is smooth and the selection of Pintxos is good. The best pintxo was the barman's suggestion of stuffed pepper. The others including a strange bacalao mixture with sultanas are not as tasty, but the staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is very welcoming. This is the only place we noticed that had wheelchair access and wheelchair users were made very welcome. A very inclusive place and overall very good and recommend you ask for their suggestions to get the best.

We went for some pre-dinner pintxos and we really enjoyed La Espiga. Good wine, yummy tapas and quick service. The Gildas and anchovie pintxos with mayo and onion were our favourites. Liked the ambiance too!

Great experience for our first meal in San Sebastian. The staff was super friendly, helpful and provided great recommendations.

Much quieter than the spots in the old town. I walked past this place several times hoping to try their speciality, the 'delicia', but couldn't see it on the menu outside. Don't miss out, as they serve it by the counter! The outside menu only lists their hot Pintxos. The Delcia can be seen on the right. a slice of bread with two thin slices of hard-boiled egg, salt-cured anchovy, and a finely chopped mixture of onion and garlic on top, finished with a dash of Worcestershire sauce. It was exquisite! 👌🏻

The area features charming cobblestone streets with pintxos bars offering local delicacies and wine. Notably, Old Town hosts the annual Tamborrada festival to commemorate historical events.
Perfect for breakfast or lunch! The cappuccinos are absolutely spot-on, and the food is incredibly fresh and delicious. This has become my favorite breakfast experience in town. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming — thank you for all your hard work!

Amazing modern brunch right next to the cathedral. Great coffee and food, we did have to wait for a table (where good don't you in San Sebastien), but you are given a fob that tells you when it's ready and to head back. Worth the wait. Perfect flat whites, and everyone loved the food. It was so good we came back again on the last day of our holiday.
Ben H — Google review
Absolutely unreal. There were no tables available when we got there, so they gave us a beeper. We took the time to see the cathedral nearby, and came back to have the most AMAZING brunch. Everything was perfect: food, waiters, location, atmosphere (we talked a whole lot to the people at other tables)! The star of the show to me was the cinnamon roll, it's got a gooey and soft texture that I haven't had before. Really good! My only general complaint is that the portion sizes are too small...you know the food is good when the only problem is that there isn't more of it!

Elosta is a modern eatery that combines traditional sushi with a Basque-influenced Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine. It offers a refreshing alternative to pintxos and delivers local flavors in the Gros neighborhood. The small plates showcase a delightful amalgamation of Basque and Asian tastes, with standout dishes like the red tuna croquettes, which are among the best in town. The perfectly executed red tuna tartar is also worth trying.
Very delicious Sushi! Actually the best i have ever tasted. The combination of ingredients in the rolls were in harmony. We didn't even need much soy sauce. High quality fish and rice and we think also real wasabi! I understand the prices for it. Enjoyed it much! Gracias 🤗 Make sure to make a reservation.

An amazing place! I’m from San Sebastián and have been there more than five times. It’s true that it can be a bit expensive, but it’s absolutely worth the money. They serve extravagant Japanese dishes you won’t find anywhere else. The service is excellent, the bathroom is spotless, and we love it every time. Be sure to reserve a table just in case and definitely try the pintxo de carabinero!

Nestled in a vibrant atmosphere, Casa 887 Jatetxea offers an exceptional dining experience that beautifully marries upscale regional cuisine with a relaxed ambiance. The establishment is the brainchild of chef Antonio Carlos Fountoura Belotti, who draws inspiration from his Brazilian roots and childhood memories of family gatherings around the dinner table. At Casa 887, guests can savor innovative dishes like crispy spider crab dumplings and squid ink bao buns, all while enjoying the subtle beats of hip hop in the background.
The most amazing dining experience we've had in a long time. The food is incredible here. Definitely try the Red Tuna Nigiri. If I could have that as a main course that would be the definition of heaven. The service and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. There was one USA couple that started causing a scene halfway through but the staff handled them respectfully and politely so it didn't disturb the other diners. Another interesting dish to try is the Tempura Shrimp Bao, how do they make the bao bun black?! Delicious.

We were looking for a upscale spot that leaned more casual, and Casa 887 Jatetxea was perfect. Absolutely loved everything we ordered — the spider crab, old cow prime rib and flan were the standouts!

We were 8 adults and 2 small kids. The food was delicious, especially the tona , the rice and the meat. The wine we ordered was the best we had in a long time…
Pnina Z — Google review
We tried four dishes - bao with tempura shrimp, xxl carabinero, cod with crispy potatoes and stuffed spider crab. Definitely recommended carabineros (which are difficult to fault) and stuffed spider crab. Bao with tempura shrimp and cod didn’t live to our expectations. Their olives served as amuse bouche were amazing! A glass of champagne for €20 felt a bit overpriced. Overall good experience but not with all plates.

I was expecting a lot, seeing all the other reviews and food in this town must be really good to make it. However, we were quite disappointed. Let me explain. We ordered the tasting menu and just sparkling water. The water came, but short of a glass, which we had to ask 2 waiters before the glass arrived. The bread served was nice, this costs extra - which wasn’t told to us until the bill. The campo olives served was actually quite nice, for people who don’t normally like olives. The fried piparras was interesting. Then came a trio of oyster, scallop nigiri (came with truffle and wasabi, but the wasabi overpowered the truffle unfortunately) and steak tartare. Nothing too spectacular. Red tuna tiradito was next, which was quite nice. Wasabi emulsion was mild. Best dish of the night. The prawn tempura in a squid ink bao, was very mid. I’ve had better tempura in a mall restaurant. Feels like Asian food for non-Asians. Fish of the day was sea bass. Decent but I had 2 large fish bones (about 1 inch each) in my piece. This was really disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber. Told the waitress, who said she’ll inform the chef. No service recovery. We opted for the ‘premium old cow’. I think they need a better copy writer. This strangely came with a very plain salad of lettuce, and fries. This portion (1 kg of beef) was very large, a whole meal in itself which is unusual for last main of a tasting menu. Beef was decent, but I didn’t think worth the extra 30 euro. Last dessert was flan (very ordinary) and basque cheesecake with straws ice cream- which wasn’t told very nice. All in, nothing spectacular. Service was not super great, food was very ordinary and poor attention to detail (the 2 bones). Was not worth the price we paid.

The restaurant offers an excellent selection of wines, which perfectly complements the dining experience. I definitely recommend it!

Haizea is a charming and unpretentious tapas bar located in San Sebastian's Old Town. It offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, along with creative made-to-order pintxos that are unique to the bar. Some of its standout dishes include the famous foie gras served with apple, cod and prawn fritters, pickled banana peppers with anchovies, and the daily winning cod brick.
Dropped by for breakfast - as one might expect, no pintxos at this time of day. But the bocadillos were fabulous, particularly the one with the tortilla with prawn and garlic. Bread was crispy and freshly toasted, the sweetness of the prawns running through the omelette was such a special treat for a breakfast. Coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice were great as well.

We stopped in with a small tour with a local guide. We had so many different pintxos from scallops to mushrooms. The flavor presentation and service = a perfect representation of the area. Can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic pintxos bar slightly off the beaten path as it's just outside the tourist area of old town. We visited this place as it was literally on the corner of our hotel. There is limited seating with 4 tables inside accomodating around 8 seats. The rest is standing by the bar or outside. Don't let that stop tasting some excellent pintxos such as the scallop and prawn skewer, soft shell crab and duck with plum sauce. The scallops were juicy, tender and fresh and the duck was well seasoned and moist. The crab roe was creamy and rich similar to a bisque. It's always busy and full of locals but caters for tourist with an english menu and friendly english speaking staff. There is on street parking available outside.

The gratin scallops / zamburiñas gratinadas are a must here! 🤤. This month I’m finally back in San Sebastián and I can’t wait to have them again, though it is hard to beat the first time I had them a few years ago in 2022. 😊🙏🏼 Eskerrik Asko / Thank you team Haizea!

We were looking for breakfast and lucked in with this little bar near the market. In appalling Spanglish I selected the most delicious pintos and brotexta. Stuffed leek, artichoke and mushroom and eggs on toast with crab mousse and prawn. The cortado and americano also charged us up for the morning. Wonderful start to the day.

We arrived at 13:30 to this tiny 400 square foot tapas bar. There are three tables inside and about 10 bar stools but most folks are just whipping in and having a beer. My partner was not in the mood to deal with ordering so I bellied up to the bar. Our total order cost 33.8€ and included 4 glasses of house red wine. What a screaming deal! We had a scallop and prawn brochette, the brick of bacalao, prawn & langostino fritters, meatballs with potatoes, a bit of duck loin served on a garlic toast, and scallops gratin. It was all a taste sensation! The brochette had two prawns encircling a scallop and put on a grill. The simplicity was perfection! My partner wanted to order two bricks of bacalao but I said no. I was wrong! This was a bit of salted cod wrapped like a present in phyllo type dough. The ribbon was green onions. It was baked and came out crispy but so creamy. The fritters, called buñuelos, were very eggy, light and full of shrimp flavor with a crisp crust. The albondigas were my least favorite but they were delicious, tender, and swimming in a delicious mild brown sauce. They were accentuated by small slices of fried potatoes that were sprinkled with salt. The sirloin of duck was a tiny piece of grilled duck served on a delicious garlic toast surrounded by deep fried potato chips and drizzled with a blackberry sauce. Oh, my little pony! So good! Finally, one of the daily specials was a scallop gratinee. Two shells arrived with a small scallop on each covered in a cheddar cheese sauce. It wasn’t my favorite as I’m not a fan of cheese sauce but it was still beautiful and tasty. During our almost two hours of eating, I knocked over two chairs and my partner knocked over his wine glass onto the marble table. Although we tried to wreck the place (not really!) people were still so nice to us. It should be noted that in this city, people don’t speak Spanish. They speak to you in Basque and I reply in Spanish. Again, folks are so accommodating to us. Love this place!

Muka is a restaurant with a young and somewhat inexperienced service staff, but they are friendly and do their job well. The food is excellent, especially the chicken and pork skewer, strawberry dessert, and apple cider. The tasting menu of 10 dishes is well-priced at 56 Euros. The view from the bar overlooking the BBQ is great, and the atmosphere in the evening is not too crowded. The restaurant features an ingredient-forward menu with high-quality produce and a focus on olive oil.
In-cre-di-ble! Food was sublime, bread was delicious and monkfish was next level. Very friendly service who spoke amazing English/ French and Spanish. Great wine list too. Foodie paradise
Matthieu V — Google review
This was my third lunch at Muka in 4 years. I noticed that the portions have gotten smaller but the quality of the food is still good. Another puzzling aspect of price versus portion size was this : The white Tuna dish (maybe 150 grams) was 25 Euros compared to the White Tuna belly (1kg for 70 Euros - I got a 500 gram piece for 35 Euros) and this made no sense to me. So, the belly, a much superior piece of the fish, was a much better deal by portion size! The mussels that we ordered as a starter were also a rather small portion of rather small mussels. Prices might not have gone up, but the portions are certainly getting smaller. We had a nice bottle of white wine ... which was a bit warm, but an ice bucket helped.

Simple but tasty food with great ingredients. Good paring with regional wines. I was expecting more attention during the service, changing cutlery, poor water and more explanation of the dishes.

What a nice surprise! Recently there have been some negative reviews but once we walked by this place we decided to give it a try anyway and we were not disappointed at all. We’re glad to have chosen Muka.

The food was excellent throughout, almost every dish was supremely flavorful. The service was great and helpful. Me and my partner were sitting at the chefs counter by the action for lunch and it was lovely, at 1pm we were some of the only people in the restaurant and got almost exclusive service. We got the wine pairing and it was okay, 4 glasses for an additional 28 euro each. The menu itself was great and was 65 per person. The desert was super good. Wonderful finish to the meal

With a focus on organic wines made with native yeasts and no sulfites, the establishment offers a diverse selection of delicious wines. The menu features simple yet flavorful dishes that showcase a creative twist on familiar ingredients. Guests praise the attentive staff and recommend making reservations in advance due to limited seating.
We came to San Sebastián for the food—and this place completely blew us away. We didn’t have a reservation and just walked in for a casual dinner, but what we got was anything but ordinary. The menu is small, but every single dish sounds (and tastes) incredible. The way they combine seasonal, local ingredients is just next level—every bite was an explosion of flavor. We genuinely had fun while eating, which says a lot. The service was super friendly and charming, and the atmosphere is cozy and full of character. They also have an amazing selection of natural wines, which paired beautifully with the food. The price-to-quality ratio is more than fair, and we’d absolutely come back in a heartbeat. Can’t recommend it enough—this spot is a real gem.

Within our trip in Donostia, this was the best restaurant we had. The food was exquisite. It was a combination of really fine dining, but keeping it simple and nice. We had the ravioli, costilla, panna cotta, and wine. The mushrooms with the ricotta ravioli, the sweet potato puree with the beef, everything just went so well together. It was really flavorful. They had a good selection of wines. Everything was reasonably priced. We came in for dinner without a reservation but didn’t have to wait to be seated as there were many available tables. The staff were friendly and accommodating. All in all, it was great value for money and we would happily eat here again and recommend this place to others as well.

Michelle B — Google review
What a great meal! Tasty, fresh, loads of veg and yummy flavour combos. Highly highly recommend for a nice sit down meal and break from pintxos. The tuna was epic as were the ravioli. Also, EUR 2.50 highly quaffable wine in a resto? Divine. Service is perfunctory and the space is tiny but it adds to the charm. Call to book.
Kelly W — Google review
When we walked in we thought we had the wrong place and wondered what the gal at our hotel was thinking. But after the first bite we realized we were in a very special place. The place feel is like an American dive bar but the food and service are extraordinary. I was skeptical of the flavor combinations based on the descriptions on the menu and was completely blown away by how well everything worked. I ordered my first glass of wine and should have had the server pick it because he chose my second glass and it was perfect. Our 20 year old was with us and they are primarily a vegetarian but will eat fish occasionally which is good because they were able to eat all of the things we ordered with only slight modifications (like us removing the ham from on top of one of the dishes). The menu is limited but they focus on local and seasonal ingredients which means we expect that the menu changes fairly frequently. When we are in San Sebastián again, we will be going back to see what other amazing things they produce out of their tiny kitchen. And for reference, we ordered 5 plates between the 3 of us and it was plenty. Definitely a hidden gem.

Bar Zeruko is a must-visit spot in San Sebastian for food enthusiasts. This modern pintxo bar offers unique creations like lobster with foie gras, dried strawberry, and rose smoke. Located in the Old Town at Pescaderia, 10, this bar combines tradition with innovative culinary expressions. One of their specialties is "la hoguera" or the bonfire, where they serve a portion of cod on a hot clay pot for you to cook to your liking.
Easily one of the best pintxo bar around. Inventive, fine cuisine, friendly staff. It's our all-time favorite in all Donostia, I have eaten here over ten times. Eat from the menu to get the hot dishes and definitely try Bob Limón as dessert, it is spectacular. Be ready to accommodate for some waiting time and a little pushing during high season as it is usual in most of the good bars. Or come at opening time. I was able to sit several times, so it's all up to the timing.

Good but not the best tapas place we visited. Definitely a strong 4,5 based on creativity. Visually, the best place to "eat with your eyes". The best pintxos was the duck roll with spring onion and hoi sin sauce. Rest looked amazing and tasted O.K. If you're looking for a romantic venue, move along- this place was very busy, played hard metal and hard a strong "white prison light". However, we found the taste of the bob limon to be nothing special.

This has got to be one of the most creative pinxto bar I've ever visited in Spain! But the key is to order from the board rather than taking from the pinxto bar. Make sure you order the smoked cod (2nd from the top of the board menu), the suckling pig, and last but not least, the passionfruit dessert that pops in your mouth!
Rob O — Google review
important info : it is always super full and you have to fight to get inside and the staff is really stressed so they might not be as friendly but they are actually really polite and if you ask them something they will answer back. The food is incredible, like no other Pintxos around the area, they totally live up their hype. It is really unique and worth going. Honestly, it's not as expensive as other places. Great experience
Andrea R — Google review
They do things just a little different here. The shop looks more modern and so do the pintxos, just a little different, just a lil fancier. You'll choose your favorites, collect them on your plate and pass them to the gentlemen behind the counter. They grill, cook or prepare them any possible way and you'll get them back in full beauty. Nice change-up to the classics.
Nik G — Google review
Amazing place! Highlight of my trip so far of note were the scallops and hamburger. For two pinxtos, two hot dishes and one coke was 18eur. A little more than other places but arguably the nicest I've experienced so far.
Will — Google review
Highly recommend for a pinxtos stop! So much variety, the crowd in there shows how great the dishes are, so well worth the tiny space. Despite the crowd you don't need to wait too long to be served - staff are incredibly busy but manage to serve several people at once really efficiently. Highly recommend the deep fried zucchini blossoms.
Ruwi W — Google review
Amazing pintxos and wine. Great atmosphere and service. Very friendly to non spanish speakers. You must try the smoked cod which was superb. The local cider was also first class. The food here is so beautiful that you will want to try it all take your time and ask the staff for recommendations. You won't be disappointed..

Petritegi Sagardotegia-Bodega is an authentic 14th-century cider house located just 7km from the city center. It offers a traditional dining experience with a variety of set menus featuring local dishes such as salt cod omelette, griddled hake, local cheeses, and T-bone steak to share. The cider house provides an opportunity to sample their house-brewed drinks straight from the barrel amidst the picturesque apple trees.
Basque Cider house serving traditional set menus, go for the Txotx option and try out the cider catching for yourself. Staff were friendly and speak English, the staff member at the cider barrels remembers which barrels you’ve tried and will tap a new one for you to sample on your return. We somehow spent 3 hours for lunch here.

The highlight of our trip to San Sebastian was a visit to the Cider House. The Petritegi Sagardotegia-Bodega is a unique and special place. We enjoyed drinking cider straight from the barrel. You wait to hear someone yell out “Txotx!”, and then you head into the barrel room with an empty glass and get in the line created in front of the barrel. The dishes are the following menus: • Salt cod omelette • Chorizo • T-bone steak • Idiazabal cheese, quince jelly, walnuts • bread and cigarrillos y tejas All our dishes were delicious. Prices were just right, and portions were very good. The staff was awesome and attentive. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and we had an unforgettable time. Highly recommend!
Achino N — Google review
This place has a unique experience of the original cider brewing if you are into Cider. The food was pretty good, except for the meat which was the reason we went there. Although it is famous of its meat, we were very disapointed with the quality. The meat was chewy and had almost no flavor. If anyone tried the famous Florence meat, then you know what I am talking about. However, the fish was pretty good.
Youssef K — Google review
We did the cider tour and it was interesting to learn about how the family owned business has evolved & grown over the years. The ciders were tasty and the apple juice was surprisingly good. We also had lunch at the restaurant and everything was delicious. Highly recommend this location even if cider isn’t your thing, we had a good overall experience!!
Fernando M — Google review
The place has a great atmosphere and definitely one to not miss when in Donostia The cod omelette is an absolute banger. That being said, the steak was served very rare which seems to be how it’s cooked here. The waitress was very kind and asked if we wanted it to be cooked longer. However it took another 20 mins before we got our steak back and the meat was tough. There was only 1 waitress for an entire room of customers and service was slow and hard to grab her attention. Not her fault at all - she was lovely, just overworked. Bonus for additional cider you can pour ! The cider is sour and definitely an interesting experience overall
Natalie T — Google review
This amazing local and artisanal cider producer offers a truly unique experience, allowing you to enjoy their exquisite cider straight from a massive 14,000-liter barrel. It's an unparalleled opportunity to taste the freshness and quality directly from the source, making each sip a memorable one. Their menu, while refreshingly simple, is absolutely delicious and expertly curated. Highlights include perfectly cooked hake, a succulent T-bone steak that's sure to satisfy any meat lover, and a selection of great local cheeses for dessert that provide a delightful conclusion to your meal. Every dish celebrates local flavors and high-quality ingredients. Despite being a bit off the beaten path, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. It's the ideal destination to experience true local cuisine, prepared with passion and served with exceptional customer service that makes you feel genuinely welcomed. The journey there is well worth it for an authentic taste of the region's culinary delights and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Highlight of the trip, came recommended by our airbnb hosts (local tip) as something you must do. You get a 4 course meal with all you can drink cider. Cider brised chorizo, cod omlette, hake, steak, cheese and quince. Basque Cider is sweeter and flatter than English cider so its beautifully paired with the showstopping salty steak. The cider is served from another room, lined with barrels, they turn on the tap and the cider streams out and you have to catch it in your glass. It is out of town so you will need to take a taxi/drive.
Ben H — Google review
We booked at 1300 for lunch and ordered short Cider House Menu for 2. Size was perfect!!!( otherwise we couldn’t eat pinchos the night ) We can access to the barrel with the cellar man and drink. It’s fun! Our server was so nice and friendly, too!

Mesón Portaletas offers a rustic-chic setting with a medieval stone wall, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners to enjoy delicious tapas, pintxos, and paellas made with high-quality and fresh ingredients. The restaurant is known for its gourmet paellas featuring exquisite and sometimes unconventional ingredients like octopus and squid. Located in the old town of the city, it provides both pintxos at the bar and table service.
Meson Portaletas, in San Sebastián in the basque region of Spain is a great place to enjoy Pintxos. There is an extensive selection all beautifully presented and wide variety. Service is prompt and professional. Both hot and cold Pintxos available.
Jeff F — Google review
Nestled under the gates of old town the location is great, and luckily the food is equally fantastic. Although we only stopped of for one dish we were glad it was the crispy pork as it was deliciously crispy, meaty and sat upon a creamy mash sauce that balanced out the salty flavour. The perfect compliment to a drink to an ice cold drink.
Jit S — Google review
Great service, friendly staff, spacious restaurant. Creative modern paella. They crisp the rice from the top, and serve it in a squarish pan. But. The shrimp was not particularly fresh, a bit fishy smelling. Mushy flesh if you know what I mean. Not crisp as it should be. The beef is amazing. Flavorful, super tender, not a tough spot on each piece. You can fix this Meson Portales, get it back! 👏
Darren J — Google review
Mesón Portales turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The pintxos were excellent, combining traditional Basque flavors with remarkable freshness and creativity. We also had the chance to try a seasonal dish: baby tuna (bonito) served in a rich, savory sauce accompanied by fried green peppers. The combination was both hearty and refined — a perfect example of how local cuisine can balance simplicity with depth of flavor.

Friendly service and very kid friendly. The pinxos are great but I also loved ordering off the menu. The risotto and steak were my favs! But I’m sure everything is good.

Very nice location! The fish and the meat in the paella was exquisite, but the rice per se lacked some taste. The pinxos were incredibly tasty , same goes for their basque cheesecake

Fantastic friendly staff, happy to help explain the different Pintxos. Huge range and super tasty. Also from the hot menu, you MUST try the risotto de setas y gambas. It’s a Michelin star winner for me.
B J — Google review
A well-known pintxo spot in San Sebastián, and for good reason! I tried several pintxos, and the standout for me was the octopus with potatoes, absolutely amazing. The mushroom and cheese pintxo was also delicious, and the meat in brioche was very good. The only letdown was the tartare pintxo. The outer layer was too dry, likely from sitting on display for too long, while the inside remained creamy. I think it would be much better if prepared à la minute instead of being left out for too long. The atmosphere is great, and the place also serves full dinners, which I’d love to come back and try. They have a nice drink selection; I had white wine, which was very good, and others had cerveza de limón, which they also enjoyed. Overall, I really liked it and would return!

Bar Bergara, located in Gros, is a popular spot influenced by Nueva Cocina Vasca. The buffet-style service offers a variety of hot and cold pintxos as well as homemade desserts. The venue has a hip and relaxed atmosphere with shared benches for seating. The bright lighting allows for a good view of the ornate pintxos on display.
It’s a really nicely decorated tapas bar with super nice cold beer, twisted tapas that veer very very tasty and nice staff. Worth visiting. The one in the PINXOS list was actually the less tasty but still good one

Sadly below expectations. The hot pintxos were disappointing – the risotto was overcooked, and the fideuá didn’t match the menu photo. Friendly service and decent wine, but overall overpriced and touristy. Not recommended.
Romenz81 — Google review
Nestled in a neighborhood a short walk from the old quarter, the tapas was overall above average. The foie gras pastry with grapes was well done, as well as the scallops. The scrambled eggs with anchovies - very generous portion of anchovies.
Keira H — Google review
The pintxos look exquisite, MUCH better than in the menu. The flavours though are very similar to each other: practically everything tasted creamy, slightly fishy with a hint of pepper. Some were frankly rather underwhelming (looking at you, delicias de pato). The service was very prompt, although our request to tell which pintxos were which in our order was ignored. The level of noise inside is not for the faint-hearted.
Floyd C — Google review
The pinchos are awesome! Lots of variety, and they were ready instantly!! As a Canadian I appreciated trying things I don't normally get to try like a pincho with anchovies and a pincho with duck. Nice outdoor seating area too. A good choice in San Sebastian.

🌟 Overall: 7.5/10 Tried: Tortilla – 7.5/10: Fresh, with cooked anchovy inside. Nice balance of flavour. Mushroom & prawn pastry – 6.5/10: Just okay for me, but my husband really liked it. Very friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere!

The menu features a delightful array of vegan and vegetarian options, including Spanish ham on toast, carrot cake, sweet pastries, and fresh juice.
Staff are nice and friendly, service and food was great. We stopped by for brunch and later came back for the basque cheesecake. Definitely recommended!

We came here for breakfast — everything looked beautiful and nicely presented. My vegan sandwich was tasty and well-balanced. However, my friend’s salmon and egg dish was overly salty. Unfortunately, both the coffee and the tea latte were very watery and lacked flavor, and the same goes for the smoothie — it tasted bland and diluted.
Eugenia T — Google review
Had brunch at Maiatza and ordered the croque madame, a special toast with bacon, and fresh juice. Everything was fine, but nothing really stood out in terms of flavor or presentation. An acceptable option if you’re nearby, but not a must-visit.

Very cute cafe for breakfast, brunch, lunch, bakery treats. It was nice to do a sit down meal. The cappuccino was delicious and so pretty. Sidreria Beharri is a Basque cider house located in San Sebastian's old town, offering a traditional experience with a variety of pintxos and raciones. While it may not replicate the exact ambiance of being in Astigarraga, the extensive selection of Basque cider and delicious food makes it a worthwhile visit. The restaurant serves top-quality dishes including traditional Basque bacalao pil pil, which can easily stand alone as a meal when paired with bread.
It’s a solid Taverna. Service was a little odd - but very very friendly staff. I was on the fence getting the big steak (Txuleta) because of price vs can they deliver? And I feel they did. We were stuffed. The cider was a little disappointing- but it’s probably just not our type of cider. I’d go back.

Great lunchtime stop to enjoy very tasty pintxos and croquetas with some local Basque wine. Popular with locals and tourists alike. Good value too.

This place was so nice, we went back twice! We were traveling with a baby in a stroller, so important to note that the dinner reservations are downstairs, but everyone was accommodating and helpful! The food was incredible, get the steak even if they tell you it's too much food. And get the cheesecake! You won't regret it. We had the same server two nights in a row and he was really wonderful and fun. Definitely recommend!

The best fish we had in all of our trip (Asturias and País Vasco), by far; Grilled monkfish (rape in Spanish) just with a garlic-lemon sauce and some potatoes. It was absolutely delicious! Plus some pintxos, pulpo and gildas (those are amazing all around Basque Country) and local cider (sidra). Wine was perfect and the service, excellent. ¡Gracias a José y todo el staff!!

What a fun place! Cider and the local white wine were yummy, as were many of the pintxos! The service takes it over the top as the servers were very entertaining! We stayed for a few drinks and watched locals and tourists alike come in for drinks and bites!
Sophia V — Google review
Although the food was okay, the experience and the service was horrible. I just don’t like this Spanish system that you are under the mercy of the waiter to get served. If you don’t force yourself, they serve others who came after you. Also I don’t know what’s with not making eye contact when they realize you’re a tourist. That is not to mention that they didn’t have any of the hot plates available.
Ghassan S — Google review
The restaurant serves top quality food and it is certainly worth trying the menu of the day, which at €17.90 for a 3 course meal and an alcoholic drink is very good value. The tapas bar upstairs serves high quality pinchos in a relaxed atmosphere. I'm back 6 years later and is still food from the Gods.

The restaurant has received praise for its great service, accommodating large groups, and its proximity to the beach.
Visited December 2022 Delicious pintxos and great spot for coffee and good fun. Great service. This area tends to be more expensive than Barcelona but the food is totally worth it. Staff was super friendly and their service was great. It was noticeable better than the average you get throughout Europe. I loved the picture frames around the restaurant and the funny sayings about food. It’s busy but they have a quick turnaround so I recommend it.

The interior is amazing. The menus are in English and French, and everything—from the plates to the tables—is decorated with the same theme, which I absolutely love. The only issue I had, though very minimal, was that the guac portion was a bit small for a sharing plate. But apart from that, it’s a must-visit place.

I’m not quite sure why there are so many bad reviews but I really enjoyed my breakfast here! I had the pancakes with chocolate and berries, and my friend had the mexican-style eggs. I loved the food and drinks and the service was great. Perhaps I just happened to order the better menu items but overall a really pleasant experience.

Good coffee, carrot cake was amazing. Good garden atmosphere. But incredibly hard to relax and enjoy it when I’m fighting a handful of sparrows for my own food. They were landing on the table and I literally had one of them shit in my hair. If it wasn’t 10$ for coffee and carrot cake I don’t know if I would say anything. Not the restaurants fault, but hopefully something can be done about that, especially being higher end dining. Otherwise I would advise eating inside the restaurant and not on their beautiful patio.

We went there with my girlfriend for our one year anniversary - the staff was very happy to have us there ❤️ - incredibly welcoming people. The food was amazing - and there are vegan options. Couldn't recommend more - will definitely visit again when in San Sebastian.
Ats K — Google review
First of all, their service is horrible. Rude, unpolite, aggressive. More then just unfriendly. I felt stressed. Old women waitresses hate guests. Even a table near us left them a note "Be positive". Description of food finally is not what you expect. It was fine by taste, but overpriced. All ingredients are cheap and prices are high. Even if we liked banana desert there were not a banana at all. Also they declared that I had a small sardinas on my salad, but obviously it was salted herrings and it was so little of them that they shouldn't even notice about in the menu. What I have got it was Russian salad or French olivier, but they call it sardinas with egg!!! What we like is a location and design.

Cool, rustic setting, amazing team and food at Botanika. We were recommended by a local. It was a great experience, loads of menu options. We both had simple breakfast options with scrambled eggs with ham and fried eggs with ham - they were plentiful and delicious. Others around us ordered sweet options from the menu and they looked delicious. Would highly recommend from breakfast or brunch or whenever during your day. We got there just after opening at 9.15 and by the time we left it was full - very popular.

Really happy we found this place. We were a large group (8 people) with a lot of different dietary requirements. Botanika had a great vegan Thai curry, delicious fish (red mullet) and meat options. The desserts were excellent - we had Basque cheesecake and brownies. Both were generous portions. Service was excellent - good gaps between courses to let us enjoy wine and company. The venue was very good - the garden would have been a lovely place to eat, but it was late October and raining! Overall, 5 stars. Excellent.

We had mixed sallad and Paella for lunch, superb taste! In the evening we went back and had a great dinner with both fish and meat, also tasted wonderful!

Accidentally found good reviews about paella so went there to try for lunch. Great view from upstairs. Service was a bit slow as one staff was managing a lot of tables alone. Paella was good but not as good as Valencia. Clams were not in good condition but mussels were really chunky and meaty. Didn’t expect peas in it so that was different. There are some other paella or arroz options in old town but this is slightly outside but reasonable option. Lemon sorbet with cava was perfect for dessert!

Txoko is in a great location near the aquarium and with great view of the harbor if seated upstairs. However, on this night (the Wednesday before Easter), we were one of only four tables in the entire restaurant. Our two young teen servers were sweet and polite but definitely not trained to serve a nice restaurant on their own. Our server delivered the wine and promptly sat the bottle on the table and walked away. No tasting or pouring into glasses. And this is one of the finer restaurants in town! She did the same with the bottle of water. The grilled baby squid was tough and flavorless. However, the peppers and stuffed spider crab in sauce were excellent, as were the grilled scallops though portions were small. The traditional French toast was also good. They have a decent wine list at reasonable prices. I would never recommend or return to this establishment.

Such an amazing find! Our local guide pointed this place out and we were tired, so we ducked in for lunch. Wow! The food is SO good! We started a Seafood Cream soup (an incredibly flavorful bisque) and a Mixed Salad (the photo does not do it justice, there was something magical on those tomatoes) then had Grilled Squid (a work of art!) and Mushroom Scramble as our mains. I hurt myself eating too much because it was all too delicious. Our server Janier was charming and patient with these monolingual Americans. The menu does have English though. Our bottle of Cava Reserva was only 28 euros!

A very average experience unfortunately as we had high hopes for this restaurant. The staff were friendly but very inexperienced and inattentive. Service was rushed and when we sent the main course back to give us more time to digest our food, both dishes came back tepid. At least the place has a decent wine list at reasonable prices. The Albariño was excellent. The upstairs dining room is very tired and in need of a make over. Water marks on the walls and badly chipped paintwork. Would we recommend this place, no.

My partner and I visited this restaurant for what we hoped would be a lovely dinner, but unfortunately the experience was let down by poor service and a lack of care from both staff and management. I ordered the monkfish, which was actually very well cooked and enjoyable. However, my partner ordered a steak to be cooked medium, and this is where the problems began. When the meal arrived, it was immediately obvious that the steak was severely undercooked – blood had seeped into the mashed potatoes, and cutting into the steak revealed it was very rare, more purple than red in the centre. We politely asked for it to be cooked a more, which the waiter agreed to. By the time it came back, I had already finished my meal. Unfortunately, even after the second attempt, the steak was still far too rare and not what you would reasonably expect for a medium steak. At the end of the meal, we explained that we weren’t happy with the steak, expecting some understanding or at least an apology. Instead, the waiter told us we should have sent it back again. We felt this was unreasonable – waiting a third time while one of us had already finished eating would have only worsened the experience. To make matters worse, when we spoke with the manager he doubled down on the same message that we should have sent it back again and, more frustratingly, that it was somehow our fault for not ordering the steak differently. There was no apology, no ownership of the situation, and certainly no gesture of goodwill, such as offering a discount for the inedible steak. This lack of empathy and accountability from the manager was incredibly disappointing. Mistakes in the kitchen happen, but how you handle them as a team is what defines good service. In this case, there was no effort to make things right, and it was made clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority. We left feeling frustrated and let down. Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant and would urge others to be cautious.

Abakando is a sleek and elegant locale known for its colorful decor and specializes in serving pintxos and fresh seafood from their own hatchery. The restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience with a sophisticated ambiance and attentive service. The seafood is particularly outstanding, with a focus on quality and freshness at unbeatable prices. Guests can enjoy specialties like the rice with lobster or the delicious lobster stew, fish, and prawns.
We visited the restaurant Abacando and were very pleased! The service was fast and attentive, our waiter spoke English very well, he told us about the restaurant. The interior of the place is quite simple, but that didn't affect the quality of the dishes, which were simply amazing. We especially loved the crab croquettes and the delightful lobster rice. A huge thank you for a wonderful evening and delicious food!

Delicious seafood. I requested the fish with lobster and prawns. Came with small amount of soup in it and potato which overall was pretty tasty. The price is little bit high but the food was plenty and I took the rest as takeaway. The staff are amazing and thx to Michael I hope I mentioned his correctly, he was charming and hospitable with us during our special requests and during eating the meal.

This is a very fine restaurant. Gorgeous selection to choose from the menu. Reasonable prices for both the food and wines. Would highly recommend.

Wow. We just had a really enjoyable dinner here with great service, excellent food, and really nice wine. Our hotel recommended this place, because we couldn't get a reservation at another restaurant that we initially wanted to try. We went there without any expectations, and we're blown away. The restaurant gets their produce fresh delivered everyday, and you can really taste it in the food. To be honest, everything we had was phenomenal, except for the oysters, which were good, but nothing special. The grilled mushrooms with truffled yolk dish was amazing! The other really memorable dish was the hake fish cheeks that were grilled. This is our last night in San Sebastian, and we are certainly leaving on a high note. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a local basque meal to remember.

After being seated at a dirty table, we ordered a few pintxos which included expired oysters that fortunately did not result in food poisoning and a chewy, gelatinous ravioli that was inedible. We elected to go elsewhere for our entrees.

Nestled in the vibrant Gros neighborhood, Le Comidare is a Scandinavian-inspired gem that perfectly captures the trendy essence of its surroundings. Just a stone's throw from the Old Town, this charming eatery boasts an international menu crafted from high-quality local ingredients. Renowned for serving some of the city's finest bagels and hosting an incredible Sunday brunch, it's no wonder that this spot draws crowds—so be sure to make a reservation!
Amazing place to eat in the area. If you avoid the rushing ours with everything crowded in this street you’re probably getting a decent service and a good variety of tasty food. The Burrata salad was definitely one of the best we got in Spain, even being a similar recipe that we already use to eat or make, it was an interesting and creative version. The other dishes weren’t that good but still a good choice comparing with other places around.

Food is not the cheapest around but it was worth every penny. Delicious salmon and fired squid. Definetly try the signature croquetes.

We honestly hesitated to go because of the rating of 4.1 compared to most tapas bars around at 4.3-4.8 We were a group of 11 so we indulged. At first, it was quiet/empty but as soon as 9:30 pm hit, ambiance picked up, cava flooded in, food was exquisite. We were not disappointed. Do not pay attention to the bad ratings on service 🤔. Amazing staff!! And obviously amazing food.

Really great food and service. Also had good vegetarian options for starters and mains which aren’t always easy to find in San Sebastian. And we were able to reserve online so super easy.

Amazing flavour, food, drinks, and service. Was most definitely surprised with the portions which were a decent size! Would definitely return to this restaurant and recommend this to others.

We had arrived to San Sebastián unsure of where to eat. We were early to arrive for the dinner setting which is at 7.30pm. It did give us time to review the menu and enjoy a drink while people watching. Following the recommendations of others we chose a few menu options to start - the Nachos, the Bao Buns and the Burrata salad. They brought out the Burrara salad first- it was amazing - my recommendation is to go the larger serving of this because it is full of flavours, it’s fresh and it’s very unique. The finish with the Chai French toast - similar to the Burrata salad it was delicious. We did share all dishes and it was perfect for us. Between the two of us - we had the 4 dishes and 5 drinks - our bill was just over €70 euro - well worth it!! Highly recommend- not to be missed with you’re in San Sebastián!

Iturrioz is a small, modestly appointed Spanish tapas bar that also serves beer and wine. It has an outdoor seating area. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, with a large selection of wines available to complement the great food. The staff are friendly and welcoming. This is the best place in town for an amazing breakfast.
I had just arrived and had no clue where I was in relation to things I wanted to do. Stopped for a vino and then had a bite to eat. Delicious. For dinner I chose freshly made pintxos - went with the beef cheek, the foie with apple and a cheeky light risotto. Washed that down with yummy vino blanco and finished off with a coffee and vermut. As a solo traveller there was a lovely table for two that was near the front door that gave me the best view of both the interior and the tables outside under the impressive walkway/colannade. It was a lively introduction to San Sebastián.

Hotel One Shot Tabakalera House is a modern and stylish hotel located within the Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture in San Sebastian. The hotel's contemporary and industrial look, with vibrant splashes of color and artwork, offers a comfortable and exclusive experience. The rooms and suites feature hip designs, some with loft living areas, while the property also includes amenities such as a gym and sauna.
We loved staying at One Shot hotel! The room was very clean and had a comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and provided us with lots of local recs. I would highly recommend staying at One Shot hotel with the only note being it is not "centrally" located and there is construction nearby at the moment. It is very close to the train / bus station and a 10 minute walk to old town / city centre.

During our trip we spent 2 nights in this hotel. My husband and I were impressed by the second level in our room, AC worked just fine, reception personnel was super friendly! Breakfasts were okay, coffee tasted great! I'm having doubts about cleaning though, as after the first night no one seemed to clean the second level and all the cups and garbage stayed the way we left it, but I think that would be deal with have we told the reception. As for the other matters, everything was great, bed was really nice and soft. This hotel has very convenient location: a little walk, and you can easily get to any important part of the city, plus bus and train station are very close.

We stayed here for 2 nights & loved it! We really liked the design of the hotel and the rooms. Very cool. The bed was amazing- large with beautiful towels, linen and THE BEST pillows! There is a kettle and fridge. It is well located for the centre of town, the old town, harbour and especially the train and bus station(virtually next door). We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment. The staff were very nice. Highly recommend.

Honestly, the room was great and the price was fantastic. It's a small walk to either part of town, roughly 10-15 minutes but you get to explore a bit along the way. The staff was super friendly and we have really enjoyed our stay so far!

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirt everywhere, smelly bed linen, sewage smell all over the hotel. I couldn't sleep because of the stench if the bathroom door was left open, but even closing the door didn't help much. The whole hotel was filled with this stench. It felt like I was staying in a public restroom, not a 4-star hotel. You couldn't even open the window in the room to get some air. There were insects running around in the bed linen (I've attached a photo). The water in the shower is very weak. The wifi is terribly unstable and the internet is slow. This hotel needs a major renovation and an overhaul of its cleaning and hygiene. This is not the level of a 4-star hotel. The location of the hotel and the way to it are also a huge minus. This place is definitely not safe for women or solo travelers. A huge disappointment on this trip to San Sebastian and a waste of money spent on accommodation.
Finn W — Google review
At first glance, Hotel One Shot Tabakalera House completely matched our taste – modern design, tasteful décor, and a clean, contemporary style that immediately appealed to us. However, there are a few noticeable downsides: the windows are small and cannot be opened, which makes the room feel a bit stuffy. The curtain fabric is little, so darkening the room is difficult, and overall the rooms feel rather dim. Another issue was the Wi-Fi, which barely worked and couldn’t be fixed for three days. On the positive side, the complaint management was excellent – staff were professional, understanding, and offered a discount on the room rate as compensation. Aparking garage is conveniently located near the hotel, and guests receive a discount through the hotel. All in all, a stylish hotel with good service, but with some room for improvement in comfort and technical reliability.
Aleks P — Google review
This hotel lacks any warmth or soul. It's like checking in to a prison. The rooms had no views, small windows, high up and to see out of them you had to stand on a chair! The worst were the beds: although comfortable, we realised in the morning that they had plastic, waterproof sheets over the mattresses which made us too hot and caused a really fitful night's sleep. The AC in the room was really pathetic too. Had that worked better, maybe the plastic sheets wouldn't have made us so hot -- I wish we had discovered them before bedtime. The location is great, near to the Old Town but the hotel is like a glorified hostel, lacking any soul. The parking too is a rip off, €20 a day and only subsidised by €4. I'd rather have paid €20 more for another hotel that was more comfortable.

The bar features a cozy upstairs space and additional seating available in the basement. Visitors praise the well-crafted ambiance, friendly staff, and diverse music selection. With seven craft beers on tap, including local options, Garua offers an excellent beer selection.
My favorite burger spot in the city. The burger is not only humongous, it’s also so delicious. I always make it a point to eat here every now and then and no matter how many burger places have recently opened up, no one has replaced this one as my favorite. Their dip is also very addicting, I think it’s honey mustard and it goes well with their perfectly cooked fries.

A good burger place 🍔🙏 we had the Cabra and Completa. The Cabra was great- a good amount of cheese and balance with the onions. The beef is full of flavour. The red lighting and music playlist gives the place a relaxed feel and puts you in a good mood. We ordered the double burgers which made them VERY filling with a nachos starter on top of that. If you plan on ordering dessert, the regular burger size is best. Would recommend!
Cara — Google review
I really enjoyed the Basque Country burger, the meat is very good but the goat cheese makes all the difference. They give you a bit too much of regional peppers as a side dish but who can blame them. People are very nice and they speak English as while eating you can chill with some reggae tunes. I've eaten here 3 times in a week and each time is was as good as I expected. 13.90 for burger + 3 for some beer.

Really really good burgers. Cooked perfectly. Only issues was that we asked for a rustic bin for the double cheddar, but received brioche instead. Wasn’t able to get the attention of the staff to say anything as they were outside smoking. Great food nonetheless. Chips were okay - needs to be fried a bit longer to give it a better crunch!

Ordered some food from the bar one evening whilst on holiday in San Sebastian in August at the end of the grand week. Sadly since my order was a takeaway chicken burger (which took over 30 mins to arrive), it was only when I took it back to the hotel to eat did I find out the chicken was raw as seen in the photos. I did message the bar on IG but got no response. The manager of our pension where we were staying said he knows the owner so agreed to take it back and speak to them. After he did, the bar just said sorry and didn't offer any refund or at least a replacement meal or drinks another day to say sorry. Their excuse for the food not being cooked properly was because of a hectic week due to the grand week celebrations and that the staff are probably tired. I wouldn't recommend eating here - drinks are okay.

Came here to try this highly recommended restaurant, it’s just a small shop with a couple of bar seats. They have quite a few tapas selections here, and most tasted pretty good. The people serving were nice and friendly, not much issue ordering food here. Seating as I said is bar style, so not too comfy to sit for long.

Our Spanish is non existent so we had difficulty ordering the food. The food was good when we got it, not quite as good as we have had but still good. When we arrived we were able to get a table which was good to be able to sit and watch the other patrons how they went about ordering and eating the food. Not as noisy as other pintxos’s that we have been in but still a good atmosphere. I would be happy to go back again

Simply marvellous - shoulder to shoulder upon entry but we luckily managed to grab a table. All food was top notch - special mention to the anchovies in vinegar, the Gilda, the pimiento de carne and the calamari. The anchovies were perfectly balanced, you could taste the quality ingredients in the Gilda and the calamari was delicately battered and cooked. The pimiento stole the show as it was the quiet performer - not the prettiest dish but once you sink your teeth in, you can taste the sweet peppers complimented by the tasty beef and soft dough on the outside. The service and atmosphere were traditional to the pintxos experience in San Sebastián. This was my personal favourite in my trip and I would highly recommend dining in at El Tamboril if you have the chance.

The rooms, including doubles, family rooms, and dorms, feature stylish industrial design elements such as black-framed windows and whitewashed brick walls. Surfers will appreciate the convenient amenities like board storage and gear rental facilities catering to their needs.
Perhaps the best hostel I've ever stayed in! Very welcoming staff, amazing facilities and a great system for storing your food in the kitchen. All the utensils you could ask for, and breakfast is included 😁 There's a wonderful terrace, and a really cute movie area with a pull down projector screen linked up to a chrome cast. We didn't stay long enough to try it out, but if I was here longer I'd stay in Koba. The beds are incredibly comfy, and give you everything you need. It's a 5min walk to the beach and 10m to old town for tourist shopping during the day and bar hopping in the evening ❤️‍🔥

I'm traveling through France now and I miss the warm vibes of this hostel - the guys who run and work here are super friendly and helpful. I would say this is one of the most laid back spots I've visited in all the hostels I've been around. The rooms are fine but the sinks inside the room is a pau faux for me, as i can imagine high season could be a watery mess. The basque area is so chill and with good food I don't think is rarely matched elsewhere for what you pay for. The groceries here and stuff are high quality compared to what I've seen elsewhere though Bilbao has more shops for variety of fruit and nuts. What I like is the owner has put a bunch of hikes on their website with where to go and stuff. The butcher shop across the street is very good and their cheese I enjoyed a decent price for. Breakfast is good, abundant fruit - I don't eat anything else for breakfast so it's nice they provide that. Kitchen is almost industrial grade with whatever you need to cook for. In high season I wouldn't visit I can imagine this place is packed but for the time I was there the laid back vibes of Northern Spain and it's people will always be cherished 💜 Couple of not so good things ; sinks, there isn't enough bathrooms if I was here in full season I wouldn't stay , I've noticed more and more hotels becoming hostels and they have one large handicap bathroom upstairs but showers just one inside a unit for six people, not sure about that same one toilet though you can find a spare downstairs

Very cosy, chill and tidy hostel :) He staff are kind, beds are comfortable and arranged so that you feel a sense of privacy in the dorms. For surfers: You can rent boards for a good price. Only softboards though, but they have a few smaller ones, 6.6 with 40 volume, wich actually come in quite handy for the messy and chubby waves that I experienced during summer at Zurriola Only thing Ive been missing are some more social life, for instance different chill events during every week. As well as a yoga mat for stretching after surfing would be very use full Thank you for a lovely stay :)

This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. It's run by a family so the front desk staff are super kind and friendly as they are owners. The place is run really ethically with benefits to the local community which I valued. It's super clean. Beds are comfy. Showers hot and powerful. Breakfast is excellent and much better than expected. The area is great - 20 mins walk away from the crowded touristy old town and in a more local neighbourhood with great restaurants and 5 mins walk to the beach. I also appreciated that it was calm and relaxed, not a party hostel. Highly recommend staying here

The automatic light bulb in the bathroom was always off by itself every 2 mins. I had to stop showering and came out to activate the sensor. This was one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the aircon was great, our room had two sinks and a separate shower and toilet. The window out to the terrace was great for natural light. My big suitcase fit inside the locker or under the bed. Lots of hooks to hang your towels and the beds had an outlet, light and shelf! The kitchen was way beyond my expectations as it had multiple pots, pans, cutting boards, utensils, cups etc. it was extremely well organized with cubbies labeled with room numbers and plenty of space in the fridge (also well organized because they provided labels and pens) the location was so close to the best beau for surfing and the town itself was so cute. 20 minute walk to the old town, definitely worth it! 10/10 recommend

Cider bar
Zapiain is a renowned cider house located in the suburb of Astigarraga, near San Sebastian. Dating back to 1542, it offers an authentic Basque dining experience. Visitors can savor home-produced cider from 15,000-liter chestnut wood barrels alongside a delectable array of dishes including salt-cod tortilla, chargrilled T-bone steak, and apple paste with sheep's cheese and walnuts for dessert.
Most authentic cider house treat that you can find in San Sebastian. My newfound Spanish friends were surprised to know that we discovered the spot that even locals might not know 😄 Sausages, salted cod omelet, codfish with peppers, and the best item - Basque txuleton steak 😋 All these awesome food washed down with Zapiain cider. And no it ain't the sweet stuff that you are used to. It's the refreshing, slightly vinegary taste that makes you keep going through your food. You get to know how drunk you are when you are not able to “catch” the cider in your glass during the pouring from the barrel. Best recommended reserving your slot way in advance as they are usually fully booked

Even if you are not a fan of cider, the experience of this restaurant is still something that you would want to add to your list of things to do in San Sebastian. go and experience a true basque meal. multi dishes are all fantastic - from the cod omelette to the cod loins, then the meat was melting off the bone. cheeses and txistorra, its all a culinary journey of exceptional quality. and do i have to mention the cider? tops!! i can drink it for breakfast. value is outstanding - you can't cook this at home for that price. this place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! look to make a reservation as it fills up quick.
Inaki S — Google review
By far too expensive for what you get. Food was served while drinking cider in the basement, and was cold once we were back on the table. Very rude person at the cash point. Won't go there any more.

For me is simply the best sidreria in the area, strongly recommend (and all the pictures of everyone else confirm it)

Cheese shop
Elkano 1 - Gaztagune is a renowned grill restaurant located in the coastal village of Getaria, just a short drive from San Sebastian. Despite having only one Michelin star, it is highly regarded by famous chefs worldwide and was even a favorite of Anthony Bourdain.
Brilliant cheese shop! Great Spanish, particularly Basque, selection. Also, lovely people.
Manish U — Google review
Thanks to Google Maps reviews, I found this excellent cheese shop! They have an impressive selection of Basque and other cheeses. What’s also impressive is the friendly, patient and knowledgeable service. Forty years ago, Mom tasted a cheese at a fancy restaurant and fell in love with it. She thought she would remember the name but that was before she had a cell phone. For 40 years, I have described the appearance and taste to various cheese sellers but I have never found anything close. Today, Mom has been reunited with a taste and texture that she loves! At Elkano 1 - Gaztagune, they kindly cut me 5 small wedges of cheese that I already knew/loved as well as new discoveries. I got to taste some similar cheeses too. Thank you! We enjoyed our cheese with bread and grapes from La Bretxa market. A light yet delicious dinner.

The best cheesemonger in Donostia. Incredible selection and the quality is amazing. I really recommend!
Nhuquynh N — Google review
Bought some cheese, intrigued by the Teyedu. The owner let me try a little piece and I was immediately sold. One of the best cheese I've ever tried ! Will pass by again when I'm Donostia, thank you so much !

(Translated by Google) They have a spectacular variety of cheeses. I've tried several, both cured and blue, and they're all delicious. The people who serve you know the product and always give you excellent advice. A highly recommended shop if you're looking for a special cheese. (Original) Tiene una variedad de quesos espectacular. He probado unos cuantos tanto curados cómo azules y todos buenísimos. Las personas que te atienden conocen el producto y siempre te aconsejan muy bien. Una tienda muy recomendable si quieres un queso especial.

Restaurant
Ttvn-Ttvn Taberna is a spacious and well-lit pintxos bar in San Sebastian, offering a wide selection of delicious skewers and homemade dishes at affordable prices. The atmosphere has been renovated, which some find less appealing than its previous look. However, the friendly staff and elaborate variety of pintxos make it a great place to enjoy a relaxed dining experience.
We had a great time! Enjoyed the pinxtos and the conversation! Our server walked us through the whole process of the Iberian jamon and was so pleasant to speak with and spend our time!
Travis D — Google review
The txuletas were very good. They explained that all meats are dry aged. Very very good.
Luis Q — Google review
We went here twice during our stay in Donostia. Good selection of cold and hot pintxos but also mains and raciones. The hot pintxos were excellent. Doesn't seem as busy as some of the other bars. Has a modern feel and is brightly lit, unlike some of the others in the area, but the food is great. We'll worth a visit, especially for lunch.
Stefan H — Google review
All the places we went to in San Sebastián were very nice. We ordered in our best Spanish, but here the waitress with the curly hair was just super rude. We felt very bad, but will not be treated this way. We had to leave. Didn’t have a chance to try the drinks and the food
Xarifa M — Google review
I hate feeling like I got ripped off. And the way you know they want to rip you off? They won'tn show you with a bill and magically the amount they ask you for ends in a .00. Everywhere else when we had pintxos, they presented is with a bill at the end to pay and never did it end with a .00 and this was the most expensive.

Better then described in the reviews, good and fresh food, nice staff, thanks!

Restaurant
Zeruko is a renowned bar and restaurant located in the vibrant Parte Vieja of San Sebastian. The establishment offers an extensive selection of both hot and cold pintxos, each known for their originality, delicious flavors, and fantastic presentation. Despite being simple in appearance, Zeruko provides a cozy atmosphere with excellent service that gives off a fancy restaurant vibe at a fraction of the cost.
This was the best pintxo bar of my 4 day vacation in San Sebastian. I could not try the other Zeruko bar as it was closed but this one was phenomenal. Every pintxo from the menu was very original, delicious and had a fantastic presentation. The atmophere is very cozy and the service is excellent. It feels more like a fancy restaurant but at the fraction of what you would normally pay for those dishes elsewhere. I dont understand the low ratings but please try this place out during your stay.
Evelyn L — Google review
New extension of the famous bar Zeruko (on the same street). Comparison between both places is inevitable. The goal with this place is to have a seat in more comfortable atmosphere. Also because it was new in June 2018 it was not on the tourist guide so few people adventure inside! Presentation of the food is awesome, but still missing a little something magic for the taste if I compare with the original place.
Tokyopath C — Google review
I feel the other reviews are inaccurate. This place is great! We ordered one of everything and truly loved it all. Favorites were the surf and turf cheeks, the lamb with potato/tabbouleh/mint sauce/kumquats, lobster bruschetta (was on special)! Eat here and you won’t regret it!!
Brittany L — Google review
Nice atmosphere and well priced drinks. However, food does not taste good and is over priced for what you get. I felt like they were trying too hard to be original and unfortunately came up short
Nathen K — Google review
Other ratings seem a bit harsh, while this place is a tad expensive compared to some others the food was outstanding and innovative. We had the surf and turf, the fish and chips and the shittake infusion
Ashwin M — Google review
Everything we had was delicious and creative. Just know that it isn't your normal pintxos bar.
Jason K — Google review
What happened to the magic of the old Zeruko bar? Avoid at all costs.
