Eel and rice separate means eel comes with the sauce in an orange pottery ware, rice you can take as much as you want.
Eel donburi comes with eel on top of rice bowl, sauce is separate. Eel pieces are big, would recommend 5 slices as standard to start with.

The menu was in Japanese, but the aunty serving us did explain the options (with Japanese and sign language): 4-piece set 2,600 yen, 5-piece set 3,200 yen and also donburi options. We went with 4 pieces set for each of us and the quantity was just right. At 7pm on a week night and only another table besides our group at the shop. Overall it's charming, and the food is great, and we love the friendliness of the aunties!
A 5th gen unagi master chef. The restaurant has been since 1860. Very good service from the family. A must try for all unagi lovers.

visited this place because of social media. staff was really kind, even with limited english, she tried to explain to us about her castella and how to heat it in the microwave etc.
we got the strawberry ice cream castella (350yen) which was really good. basically a sandwich ice cream. she did tell us the strawberry is frozen but the ice cream is fresh.
also, a 200 yen castella edge (scraps of castella cake so there’ll be uneven layers).
the store basically sells just these 2 variations of castella cake.

I bought 2 slices to try out before deciding which brand to buy for gifting. The Bunmeido Castella cake is the best in my opinion. In terms of taste, It is lighter & less sweet than Fukusaya & Shooken. Each slice is wrapped in a Dorayaki layer. I bought them in 9 June & the expiry date is on 22 June.
Contrary to renowned and long-established fame of the store, I was shocked by unfriendliness of the staff.
The castella cake is undoubtedly delicious, but the staff are not providing good service.

We visited Cafe Restaurant Dejima Terrace 出島テラス in October. It wasn't very busy here when we visited.
We ordered the Dejima Turkish Rice (1800 yen), and lemon and honey soda (800 yen), saratooga cooler (800 yen), and the Dejima seafood paella (2500 yen).
The first thing you should know is that "Turkish Rice" in Nagasaki has nothing to do with actual rice from Turkey.
