Great selection of food and drinks. The service was really quick, even though it was busy. Most dishes were delicious and some okay, but still worth it. The place was a bit dark to take great pictures, but the atmosphere was lively. Great place to hang and enjoy small bites.

Came here for a team brunch and left with a full stomach and a slightly dizzy head (thanks to one dangerously good cocktail — I don't even drink!). The menu leans heavily on seafood, red meat, some mysterious veggie options, and pizza. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share — great idea, because everything was worth trying. The pizza’s solo-sized, not enough for one person. Loved the sparkling water, quick service, and dreamy ambience. ⚠️ Warning for white-meat-only folks: Well... may the chicken gods be with you, because chicken was hiding. Possibly on vacation. This is a red-meat-and-seafood playground. Plan accordingly.

I came in on a rainy Friday night. The hostess never arrived at the stand so I parked myself outside on a wet table. My waiter was attentive but I also suspect got super busy as the night went on as I ended up with someone else. Croquettes were perfectly done and escargot was excellent. Very popular - I’d suggest you maybe make a reservation if possible so they will acknowledge your existence.

A fancy to dine in without fancy pricing. I didn't like the corn chicken as it was explained to me that some mousse was injected into the meat... The result was part of the chicken meat is mushy and meat colour was off ....it looked to me undercooked but waiter told me it wasn't. I didn't eat it. Fish was good.

We were lucky to find a spot on a Saturday afternoon. We had ribs, which were delicious, and the burrata was nice. The calamari were really small, deep-fried, and could have been better. November 2024, Had a real good dinner here. Staff was very attending and enthusiastic they really liked working here. Excellent wine choices. The food was good, loved the main dishes, the amuses and dessert a little less. The wild duck stood out for me, this was an excellent dish. The different kind of breads served throughout the dinner is a nice touch.

What an absolute gem of a restaurant. I must say I was half expecting the classic overpriced restaurants that one often finds in touristic places, but this one was all the opposite: genuine, friendly, with a stellar cuisine with an insane value for money. For a simple lunch we got to taste no less than a dozen dishes, bouchées and amuse bouches - each absolutely stunning with a unique identity. The staff was really the cherry on the top: super friendly and not haughty at all, not intrusive either - we spent 3 lovely hours thanks to them. We're french and used to eating in gastronomic restaurants when we get the chance, but this one definitely hold a special place. Bedankt!

Amazing venue, fantastic food and a unique wine list that in itself is worth the visit. We really enjoyed this beautiful restaurant with its spacious indoor space surrounded by large windows. The five course tasting menu was a mix of modern, handcrafted delights based on fresh, often locally sourced ingredients. Their wine list was extensive and also featured Dutch wines which was a pleasant surprise for us. We found their Dutch Riesling especially well balanced being on the dryer side with the strong acidity one expects from Riesling.

I can't overstate what a treat it was to eat here for a very special anniversary dinner. The venue itself is beautiful and spacious, tastefully laid out so that no table is too close to any other, giving a sense of privacy with no feeling of isolation. The staff here are all wonderful. They're polite, warm and professional. I found it very easy to communicate with them at all times, and they did an excellent job describing the dishes as they served them. The food itself surpassed my expectations, and I was really taken for a journey over the course of the evening. It was unlike any food experience I've had before. There's a very clear and beautiful artistry at work with what we were presented with at every step of the meal, with inspired and considerate use of ingredients. I was amazed! Amazed, and inspired. I had an unforgettable dinner at Hemel & Aarde during my stay at The Nox (also highly recommended). The service was outstanding, thanks to passionate and knowledgeable waiters like Jim and Daan. Every dish was beautifully presented with a perfect balance of flavors, and the wine pairings were spot on, complete with great explanations. An exceptional culinary experience from start to finish. We enjoyed a 6-course dinner at Hemel en Aarde in this beautiful, iconic, monumental setting with stunning high ceilings. All dishes were nicely presented and the flavour combinations were intriguing. However, several dishes were not completely balanced taste-wise and were overly salty, which overshadowed the flavour of the key ingredients. The staff was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable about the dishes and wines and subtly omnipresent throughout the evening. Overall, we had a really nice evening. Thank you!

Service was good at Hemel, but the food wasn't the best, especially for us as meatlovers. Dishes were more vegetarian. The dishes were designed beautifully. But dessert gets the minimum rate! I never want that many spices in my dessert. We couldn't even have one spoon of desserts. The strength of night was tasty wines, though.

The food is very good. There only one thing this Michelin restaurant could improve - to make the front door easier to open and make less noise.

We went to this restaurant two times and had two very different experiences. Once on Friday: the food was delicious, the staff was super friendly and attentive and we had a good time. (I strongly recommend their madeleines, since they serve them freshly baked). However the second time, which was on a Saturday night, was a bit of a nightmare, as the restaurant was really crowded. We waited 45 minutes for a small plate of oysters, and more than an hour for the chicken (we ended up paying and leaving before it arrived cause it had been too long). To sum it up, and overall great restaurant, but very unorganized when particularly crowded, so keep that in mind if you wanna eat there during the weekend.

We went for dinner and had the chef’s menu. The food was good and well prepared, however, none of the dishes were outstanding, the flavours were a bit repetitive dish after dish and no ingredients/flavours/techniques really stood out. The service was good, however, it took 3h to get to the main course and then another good 30-40min until dessert, which ended up being a bit of a slow painful experience. Other tables were having à la carte and the dishes looked great and big portions - probably a better value for money. Overall an overpriced dinner.

An unexpectedly beautiful dinner setting! We sat by the window and had a stellar view of the Dom during our meal. The service was attentive without being intrusive. We loved the zucchini and quail dishes!

Waited 70 minutes for tiny starters. Another 50 minutes for main course. Kitchen and staff works super hard, they just have way too many tables. And too little food for the price - 90 euros pp for 2 courses with 3 kids (who only drink coke and water)

Great experience at the Streetfood Club! The food was delicious, with a variety of dishes inspired by different cuisines. The prices were quite reasonable considering the quality and creativity of the menu in my opinion. The ambiance was super nice since the decoration of the place is stylish and i loved the retro aesthetic. It gives the place a unique vibe. It’s the kind of setting that works for anything really, whether it’s a casual lunch, a dinner with friends, or a date night. Service was friendly and efficient. The only minor issue was the kimchi, which was way too salty, perhaps just a one-off with that batch. Aside from that, everything else was spot on. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back myself.

I had the High Par-Tea, which turned out to be a really fun and tasty experience. A playful mix of savory street-food bites and sweet treats, with plenty of variety to keep things interesting. Everything I tried was fresh and flavorful, and the balance between the savory starters and the dessert selection worked perfectly. Good food overall, had some really salty bites from the tuna unfortunately. Most food was sadly also barely warm or had too much stuff going on. We could see the kitchen from our view and it appears that food was staying at the counter for abit. Pretty interior however the decor and colours can be overwhelming. Also ALOT of chatter, - lots of girls. Outdoor seating looks way more pleasant.

A Wonderful Surprise! I didn’t quite know what to expect — it had been a while since I made the reservation, and I had forgotten what the photos looked like. What I did remember was that the menu featured exotic dishes, and we were really looking forward to our lunch. And yes, it definitely exceeded our expectations! My Croque Madame was delicious, as were the shrimp dumplings. The passionfruit mojito mocktail was absolutely amazing — fresh and perfectly balanced. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. The cocktails were fantastic — my favorites are the Bubblicious Daiquiri, the Pornstar Martini Slush, and of course the Passionfruit Mojito. The service was excellent as well. I had booked for 1:00 PM, but due to public transport issues we arrived 30 minutes late. I had informed them by email, and it was no problem at all upon arrival. We’re definitely not done dining here 🤭 and will be back again soon! 25/10/2025 It was my third time here and my girlfriend’s second, and once again we had a delicious meal! The dishes are super tasty and prepared with great care. We’ll definitely be coming back, because we haven’t tried everything yet. Highly recommended!

The welcome upon arrival is very friendly, and you step into a beautiful and welcoming setting that exudes tranquility. The food and drinks were delicious, and the guests didn't overpower you, so it wasn't noisy. The beautiful, clean, and well-maintained restrooms are also a huge plus. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail. Definitely recommended.

Last night, I went out for dinner with four girlfriends at The Street Food Club in Utrecht, and wow – what an incredible experience it was! From the food to the interior and the overall vibe: everything was spot on. We chose the shared dining menu for €35 per person, which I highly recommend if you’re going with a group. For that price, you get a wide variety of small, surprising dishes, each with its own character and often served with a delicious matching sauce. The food is truly special and unique, the kind of dishes you won’t easily find anywhere else. Think creative combinations, bold flavors, and presentation that turns your table into a colorful celebration. What made the dinner even more memorable is that at the end of the menu, you get to pick one dish to have again, a fun and generous touch that really makes the experience stand out. The service was also excellent. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, they came to our table quickly, and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. The interior is absolutely stunning. Every room is decorated differently, each with its own unique, eclectic style. The design is playful, bold, and full of personality. The music matched the atmosphere perfectly, fun, upbeat, and trendy without being too loud. The location is also great, right on the corner across from the church, making it easy to find and adding to the charm of the place. The only thing for us as long dutch people, was the space for our legs. The table was quite small, which caused that we didn’t have enough space for our legs. In short: great atmosphere, delicious food, beautiful decor, and top-notch service. The Street Food Club is a place I’ll definitely come back to, and one I’ll be recommending to others for sure.

Had a great diner with friends. Decided to have our annual diener at Concours. A great choice. Fantastic ambiance. Tables not too close and too far away from each other. Given privacy, while maintaining cosiness. Music and acoustics were well balanced, supporting a good conversation. We had a table near the kitchen. Great to see the chef and his team at work. We enjoyed a five-course dinner. Well balanced, not too big, not too small. The dishes were good, but not at the level yet that would Concours to be rewarded a Michelin start. A little bit excitement / surprises would be needed for that. Service was good. Wines were great, good selection. We enjoyed various pairing wines. All in all, a great evening. Well recommended.

The chef's menu provided a real treat, featuring a variety of truly delicious dishes. The wine selection accompanying the meal was equally excellent. In particular, I particularly enjoyed the crayfish taco with veal raviolo, and the diverse selection of cheese offered as a finale.

We have visited Restaurant Concours several times now, and it’s always on point. It’s truly one of our favorite fine dining restaurants in Utrecht. During our recent visit, we enjoyed a 7-course dinner with each course complemented by a paired wine. The food composition and quality are consistently superb, with well-balanced flavors and delightful surprises in each course. The service is always warm, attentive and pays attention to details. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Super last minute booking for 6 people, coming from 4 different countries for a 60th birthday. All foodies, all great friends and all wanting something special. Concours was one of the only places in Utrecht that had a table and what an amazing night. Food was exceptional, and they handled the 'preferences' with speed, professionalism and grace. Our waitress was fantastic and we were shocked to discover at the end of dinner, it was her first evening! We had 5 courses and wine pairings, each course and wine being far better than expected. We sat near the kitchen and the chef was personable and friendly throughout. If you're passing through Utrecht and love great food, support local supplier thinking and want a meal punching well above its weight in inventiveness, service, design and friendliness, then grab a table. Yes portions were small, but each was well crafted with interesting flavour profiles and we didn't leave hungry. Only bad comment is, please create an english language web instance and update the images on the site. they don't do it justice. A great evening and we'd be happy to return.

I've had a few fine dining experiences in Utrecht, but this - so far - has been the best. It was the right balance of actual delicious food and impressive presentation (I feel that sometimes one is sacrificed for the other). The service was professional and the atmosphere was relaxed, and not pretentious. Every course was enjoyable, and I would definitely go back. It's on the expensive side, so worth it for a special occasion :)

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. It can be hard to find a high-end restaurant that also offers great and special vegetarian food, but these dishes really blew me away! The service and wine pairing were excellent and the prices were more than reasonable for the experience that you get.

Visited this gem for the second time. The food here is absolutely amazing. The presentation and the clash of different flavors are truly outstanding. Lightly spicy, sweet, sour, crunchy – everything is perfectly balanced. The food is served quite quickly and the service is also very good. I’ve sat both inside and outside, but I must say the atmosphere inside is much better. The vibe, the music, and the overall ambiance are excellent. I will definitely be coming back more often.

This place is literally awesome! I really liked the environment, the design of the club. The cocktail's glasses are too original together with their names. It's preferable to come here with 4 or more people! The reservation also is preferred because it's always full, now you know why! Cheers

A Pleasant Surprise! We originally came just for drinks, and I have to say—the frozen Porn Star Martini was the best I’ve ever had! It was so good, we decided to stay for food, and I’m so glad we did. Everything was absolutely delicious—we even ended up repeating a few dishes! The entire experience was lovely. I only wish we had a place like this where I live. Compliments to the entire team! :)

Went there for a few drinks and snacks. Chickenwings took over half an hr and when we asked about it, it came out immediately. It's a bit of a cramped seat outside but it's cute by the water. Cocktails are done well with matching containers to the drinks.

We visited the Rum Club for a few afternoon cocktails and it did not disappoint. We arrived without a reservation and even though it wasn't very busy, one of the ladies arranged a seat for us at the bar. The cocktails are expertly crafted and are very delicious.

My son's regular spot in Utrecht, so it was time to experience this for myself. Wasn't disappointed, great tasting food and attentive service. Nice ambience, since this is situated in 2 old wharf or cellars. Limited space, however they have done a superb job of using every inch of these. Professional staff and great music, extensive choice of cocktails, incredible. Outdoor seating is possible if the weather permits. Worthwhile visiting.

Nice cheese fondue. You can serve a bit more bread and cheese for 2 people. Table was very small for the cheese fondue! No space for water they didnt ask if we wanted to have water (or refill of wine) at all! Nice atmosphere but service can be better.

The Emmentale cheese fondue was not bad, tasted quite rich and had a creamy texture with some pesto sauce in it. A really good deal on Tuesdays when it is 12€ instead of 16€ p.p. The bread was of good quality, but the veggies were sparse, only baby carrots, some lettuce and radishes. Would have liked a more varied selection. The Romanian wine was really nice!

Whilst fondue is only available at dinnertime, there is baked camembert available all day from the Bar section of the menu which was very tasty. Note payment by card only.

Extremely poor service and unacceptable conduct. I visited this establishment with friends and children, and we were shouted at by one of the waiters over a very minor issue. His behavior was aggressive and he created a scene in front of our children, who were understandably frightened. Despite explaining that we were tourists, his attitude only worsened after hearing this. This incident appeared to be a clear case of discrimination. Such behavior is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated under any circumstances. I will not be returning to Café Carel, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place as well.

We visited Cafe Carel in Utrecht on 13 September 2025 at around 16:25. We were a family group of 3 adults and 3 young children (aged 3, 4, and 8). We ordered drinks and ate a small pastry we had brought with us, not knowing that this was not allowed. A waiter informed us about the rule, which was fine — we understood and agreed to stop. However, the same waiter returned a minute later, shouting at us, pointing his finger, and acting very rudely and aggressively. He even slammed the chair next to my spouse down on the floor in a threatening way, which scared our children. Despite explaining that we were tourists unfamiliar with the rule, he continued to shout instead of handling the situation politely. Our children were terrified and we had to leave immediately. We felt humiliated and disrespected. We hope the management takes this behaviour seriously — no family deserves to be treated like this, especially in front of young children.

Good cozy atmosphere inside and option for outdoor cafe vibes outdoors, we shared plates and each item was good and easy to share.

We went there for a bite, by recommendation of a former waitress at the place. There were not many options for vegans/vegetarians, so we had the beetroot salad and a spinach tarte Tatin - a bit small but still delicious.

We had a lovely dinner experience with attentive hosts and servers, fluffy bread and appetizers before, followed by a four course meal which we really enjoyed! The vegetarian menu was innovative and delicious, don’t skip the sweet dessert! We loved the truffle risotto, creamy cauliflower, assortment of vegetables, and sorbet with the golden rose. I went for the 4 course vegetarian and almost liked everything. However as a general theme, everything was too creamy for my taste. Staff and service was both great. The price is also OK. Wine also fine.

Second time Florent for me, food was ok but the two mains were unfortunately too much alike. Too much of a truffle oil aroma, glad we didn’t add the fresh supplement of truffle. Wine pairings were under par, very little explaining “this red wine is from Australia”. Ok. The first time was great, it’s too bad some elements were missing like the great host I had the first time.

We attended a private company event here, and the restaurant was closed to other guests for the night. The service was impeccable – the staff was kind and quick to refill drinks, which was much appreciated. However, the food was disappointing. While there were plenty of options, especially for starters and desserts, the flavors were bland and unremarkable. The cozy ambiance was a highlight, but unfortunately, the tasteless food overshadowed the experience.

A hidden spot in Utrecht. The terrace during good weather is a must do! Fast and good service, and above all a wonderful menu.

I gave a three star not because i don't like this place. In fact, there's a lot to like about this place: the environment, the service, the presentation of the food (look at the pictures). This place emphasizes on the freshness of the ingredients where they utilize fresh produces from nearby village. However, for me, the taste of the food is mediocre at best. There's no unique combination of flavors. It's mostly just different ingredients being put together on a plate very prettily. Each plate costs around 25-30e. It can get pretty crowded in the evening, so remember to make a reservation before you come.

Great experience. The house smoked salmon was delicious, the sole and wild shrimp a good main dish. The cherry clafoutis was a great seasonal dessert. My partner had the bouillabaisse which was rich and delightful.

Hidden spot in a cute neighborhood (note: not in the city centre) with a lovely terrace in the sunshine. Makes a perfect place for lunch. Friendly waiters. The portions of our choice (1 bread with Brie and pear and two small croquettes with tiny slices of bread) for lunch were not big, but all was homemade and very delicious. The 3 course menu looked promising and very yummy so we will definitely come back for that or for dinner

From the amuse to the devine last course of cheese and sweet wine.. this is a place that is not like others. And that's a good thing. Lovely service and food that is delivered with thought and care. My favourite.. the potato.. no mushroom..no cheese.. damn so good. Visit .. its not your usual place but it is very much worth your time.

Delicious and interesting dishes. Everything can be vegetarian if you like but they can also add meat or fish to some dishes. The flavours are great and you will not miss meat at all. The wine pairing was well done with a couple of interesting wines. The service was excellent.

Amazing experience, I definitely recommend it. Caring staff that make you feel being a special guest, good price/quality and lovely interior (especially the last room with lots of plants). We’ve been here for lunch and dinner, both were great. I recommend to order ~6 rounds. I personally don’t eat a lot and for me even 4 rounds were enough, but every dish is so interesting and special that I wanted to try more and ended up with 7 rounds😊

A beautiful place on first impressions: cosy and welcoming with stylish decorations and lovely plants all over. We were seated at a table in the conservatory area towards the back and were looking forward to a treat of an evening. It was a little surprising to be asked for a drinks order without a menu, even when I'd asked for a drinks menu but we ordered blind without knowing the full range of drinks choices or indeed prices. The menu concept was explained and we all went for the 5 course tasting menu and we were asked if we had any dislikes or intolerances. The amuse bouche arrived first and it was a beautifully presented little morsel. The next course followed closely after: a carrot based dish. We were asked if we wanted more drinks but still not offered a wine list. The wine delivered was lovely however and explained to us. A further course followed based on peas. Very tasty, very pretty, small but perfectly formed! The main course option was based on aubergine which is not my favourite so I went with the broccoli alternative which was just that, pretty basic broccoli. The others enjoyed their aubergine but it wasn't anyone's favourite course. The finale was a strawberry based dish enhanced with wasabi, a strange combination that kind of worked. It's definitely a treat meal kind of price at the top price range and the appearance of the dishes definitely matched that. However, spending that kind of money I'd have hoped a d expected more from the finesse of the service and taste of the main dish which has been part of a fine dining establishment when we've visited this level of restaurant elsewhere. However, for an absolute treat of a vegetarian meal I'd definitely recommend you to visit to see what you think...

Vegetarian food can be exciting, surprising, colorful, and tasty. I do like the formula in which you tell how many dishes and some additional dietary wishes and then let the kitchen do what they do best. I can't say I liked all the dishes, but all dishes were very tasty and beautiful; one word that is NOT applicable is "boring" and this made it a delightful experience ...a spoon would make the eating of some of the dishes a better experience. The location is great. We had a wonderful evening.

What a poor menu. It felt like we were served leftovers from the fridge. One piece of red pepper with sour cream and some leftover nachos — that’s supposed to be a dish? What?! Then two tiny potatoes from the oven with some sprinkles of fennel on top, and again, leftover potato chips. Bread with mayo as a starter 😀 Really, a very sad story. I don’t recommend it. Sorry. Beetroot dish was okay the rest... sad story

We were disappointed. The food was uninspired - the nice ingredients on each plate didn't matched with each other and most of them could have used some seasoning. The Wine and the cheese were very nice but altogether the price/value was off.

Very good restaurant, we chose the menu of 10 dishes for 35 euros and it was really great! We were expecting small dishes but the amount is actually a lot for the price asked. The service was also great and quick bringing the dishes 100% recommended!!

During covid lockdown we also ordered the 10-course meal at home, also very yum and easy to warm up. Hope the restaurants open up soon again because having the dinner there is even better :-)

Fun food, fun atmosphere, fun ppl Update: My last trip to Mama wasn't as good as the first one - was there last Sunday with friends and both the kitchen and bar seemed overwhelmed. It took forever to get our orders and on multiple occasions only to be told that you are out of ingredients (salmon, beet etc). So two visits and two opposite experience :(

Nice outside area with great food and 2 for 1 gins on Thursdays! This place caught My eye since they’ve renovated. Their gin tonics are great! I’m not too much of a fan tonic water so it’s really nice that they also have a ginger beer based one. Their sushi rolls were really tasty! The salmon portion was generous and fresh. Really interested to trying the rest of their menu. The only downside is the food is quite pricey (15 euros a roll) and when sitting outside (at-least for us) the service could be improved. Waiters were nice but we did wait a long time for our next orders and they did forget something we ordered. All in all, I’d still go back to try the rest of the menu but will wait for a nice occasion!

Lovely food & excellent service. My husband use to travel to Utrecht regularly for work & De Zakkendrager was one of his favourite restaurants. I too have been a number of times through the years and it’s always a good bet for a good meal. So we didn’t hesitate to book for our last meal of the holiday. This time we were lucky enough to get a seat near the garden which was an extra treat.

Beautiful aesthetic and atmosphere thanks to nice views of their internal garden. Food and service were both great. Quality of the food is excellent for the pricing. Update: came back around a year later and was just as impressed with the atmosphere and amazingly good food.

A real hidden gem in Utrecht! The interior is warm and cozy, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a nice meal. I started with the yellow paprika soup of the day. A first for me and it was smooth, flavorful, and surprisingly unique. For my main, I had the Northern African spiced lamb shoulder, which was beautifully tender with a rich, aromatic seasoning that really stood out. On the side, I went for fries with truffle sauce which was crispy, indulgent, and a perfect match. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere felt welcoming from start to finish. The menu offers an interesting mix of dishes, balancing comforting flavors with a few creative twists. Overall, a great experience I’d happily repeat.

De Zakkendrager is my favourite restaurant in Utrecht. It's a cosy little place, tucked away on a narrow lane of Zakkendragerssteeg. You dine in an intimate and relaxed conservatory next to a lush garden with a towering beech tree. On a recent visit for dinner, I skipped the starters, and had some bread with aioli and herbal butter instead. For mains, I had the lamb shoulder, slow-cooked in North African spices, with chickpea cassoulet, coriander and tomatoes, flatbread and yoghurt. The lamb was nicely tender and warmly fragrant with the spices. Most delightful! The lemon tart with meringue and orange sorbet made the perfect balance to finish the meal nicely. Once again, this recent visit reminded me why this is my favourite restaurant in Utrecht. The service was friendly and helpful without being over attentive. I managed to get a table without a reservation, as a solo diner. However, it's a good idea to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

Came to eat with my girlfriend and we enjoyed it. Sangria was great. Tapas and Paella were delicious. The place makes you feel like you are in Spain. The walls have pictures of beautiful Spanish cities as Toledo.

I have been to this place 4-5 times now and I believe every time I was there I got to try new dishes and every time I was surprised how good they were. I'm kind of a picky eater when it comes to different cheeses and distinctively cured pork but I opened my mind to all of those here and it was DELICIOUS. The one thing that we always get is the shrimps in some kind of butter/fat but lately I've had difficulty of finding it. And recently when I went there on my own I ordered Gambas a la plancha with whiskey thinking that it was the one that I'd previously had. But it was something different and delicious! Basically, everything you order there is going to be amazing so always try new things. Coming to the ambiance, I love how cosy it is even with the little open kitchen, and the paintings on the wall, the whole layout is beautiful. I would like to shout out to whoever designed the simple look of the menu, because that's how I'd imagine a simple yet impactful menu to look. Service has always been great, the staff there is always ready to help you out with choosing or explaining the dishes, and this time I asked if the owners of the restaurants were Spanish. Turns out the owners are Dutch and they are here to present their love for Spanish food. Now I've been to Spain once so I can't talk about the authenticity but they do a really good job with translating the eating experience.

Had a weekday dinner here with a friend and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Loads veggie and vegan tapas to choose from (always a win), and the vegan paella hit the spot—big on flavor and generous on portion. Service was friendly, and the whole place had an easygoing charm. Definitely coming back to see what else they’ve got cooking!

We liked the tapas, pintxos, service and atmosphere. Only we didn’t like the sangria. It was like a juice. The alcohol content was really low.

I am Spanish and can confirm this place is a great one. Food is very nice, has the essence of our flavors. Some dishes like Pulpo have a bit of an interesting twist in the recipe. Place is beautiful & service good! Will comeback for sure.

Great tapas dishes and cava sangria. We used to come here for the paella on Wednesdays. Also been here a few times for the tapas before the whole corona situation and was not so impressed. Came again recently and I have to admit the food has improved a whole lot. I retried all the tapas dishes I previously did not like (gambas, pulpo, ceviche) and have to say the food is as great. Their cheese and meat platter was also very good. We really enjoyed the cheese. Only downside to this place is the service. While the servers were both very nice, one of them forgot our orders twice. This was my same complaint before corona and why I removed a star. Also, I’d recommend coming here for borrel/aperitivo as the dishes are not that filling and the $$ can really pile up!

We went on Tuesday evening, the place was packed, with a great vibe. Great choice after work or for dinner and drinks. Efficient service with an open kitchen concept. Tapas are made of high quality ingredients. Iberico cheeks were my favourite, from pintxos Diamond hare and the patatas bravas the best I've ever had. Wine pairing was a perfect final touch.

We really enjoyed our 3-course lunch at Brasserie Goeie Louisa. Great flavors, nicely plated, and everything was clearly made with care. We’d happily come back again for lunch or dinner!

Lovely brasserie inside Hotel Karol V. The food was great — the grilled octopus really stood out for me. The steak was flavorful, though a bit on the chewy side.

Im sorry for this review.. You may had a bad Day but having a total of 20 Guests in the restaurant and having to wait 25min between dishes that arrive almost cold is Crazy. Serving Food in Deep dishes with alot of sauce and not giving the customer a Spoon or Bread is also Crazy. Having alot of Waiters standing arround and not filling up Glasses is also Crazy. I love to pay for good food but paying 100 Euros for 4 dishes and not be full is also Crazy. I wont be coming again. But i hope some things will change for future Guests. Thank you and best Regards!

Decent selection of classic good Belgian beers. Some waiters were really friendly and professionals, others I think they were looking for shortcuts, but overall nice experience nothing too bad. I loved the place inside, drinking a beer there was really good. I loved that each beer had his own correct paired glass. One of the nice waiter also stated that they didn't have any Guinness anymore, so suggested to have another stout; then corrected himself saying that they didn't have any glasses for it, so this is definitely a positive point for their honesty and professionalism. Food wise I think they can improve, my salad was everything but a salad. Overall would be a 4/5, but I didn't like the approach towards some people. Place inside was almost empty, we were there for lunch, most tables were reserved for the evening. Those entering were first suggested to sit outside or in a not reserved table, even if more than 6 hours were between current time and the one marked on the table. I also saw one poor guy that just wanted to see the tap beers at the counter, friendly being sent back outside with the reason that tap beers were marked on the menu. He just wanted to have a look 😅 Then when a tourist group came in with their guide, they could just roam around taking pictures and videos while talking, like it's not a restaurant. It's fine and understandable, the place is very beautiful and probably with rich history, but it was funny to see the difference.

Incredible place. I was surprised the moment I got inside. It’s a huge and nice place. I never imagined to see a Bar/Restaurante in a church. Despite being a bit noise when it is crowded, it’s outstanding! Service incredible and friendly. Carpaccio one of the best I ever had!

This Belgian beer café is a hidden gem with a remarkable setting. It appears to be housed in a former church, which gives the entire space welcoming feel. The location alone makes it worth a visit! I had a few bitterballen with my drink, which were crispy, hot, and just what you’d hope for. The staff was super friendly and impressively quick, even though the place was quite busy. The beer selection is massive, one of the most extensive I’ve seen. Whether you’re a beer enthusiast or just curious to try something new, you’ll definitely find something here.

While it's a unique setting with great beer and good food, I found the natural acoustics of the church amplified the sound of everyone too much during rush hour. At some point I had to shout for my friend to hear what I was saying. If I went at a quieter time I would probably have had a much better experience. Recommended: If you're looking for a unique or new experience. Not Recommended: Big groups, business meetings, during busiest hours (unless you don't mind the noise)

Cool place to go and have a beer - they have a huge selection, so you won't be disappointed. The staff are friendly and quite helpful. Reservations recommended, since this place gets very busy (and noisy). They don't do take-aways, but the food is delicious so you probably won't need to take any home :)

Excellent meal in Utrecht; food was very good, service was friendly. Only complaint would be the terrace was not really a terrace - just tables set out on the cobblestones, so we asked to sit inside. But the environment indoors was nice. Will definitely visit again!

We popped into De Rechtbank for lunch on a super hot day and couldn't have been happier. The terrace was a great spot to cool down, the dishes were delicious, and the staff was absolutely amazing!

The food and service is great! For starters we had a salad and the tatami, both of which were delicious. For mains we had two types of meat (which was SO delicious) and the risotto (which was ok). And we finished with the Eton mess and the trio of chocolate for dessert. Both the desserts were SO GOOD! Will definitely go back.

Good food, with proper dressing and flavors selected with care. Outside area was nice and smartly arranged. Sadly, the service was laughable, performed by a handful of inattentive students who didn't bat an eye about missing our order or focusing on anything except their own banter. Sad but true.

It’s an alright place that’s a bit less crowded, however, we were there on a busy day and literally wouldn’t be seated. They said lunch would take half an hour but eating from a sofa isn’t ideal. The apple crumble clearly came out of the freezer, warm but hard apples. They have a good selection of beers though.

Went there with a bigger group and everything went really well! The communication before the reservation went very smooth and we had a nice dinner there! We had some really nice appetizers to share, and I had the vegetarian burger which was quite nice! They have quite a variety of drinks as well, including beers. The staff was very nice and helpful. Overall it was a very nice experience!

Great Dutch food in Utrecht! We needed a place to eat at noon, after walking around Utrecht in the morning. I saw this place near us recommended on here so we gave it a spin and it sure surpassed our expectations. The food was really cozy and heartwarming, accompanied by great, friendly service. The place is situated in a nice, quiet tree-born square. They were also hosting a delightful jazz band accompanying our eating, part of their culture-agenda. Would definitely recommend!!!

I find it very weird that the staff, not all of course, but mostly treat the international customers very badly! I observed it very closely and the staff are very friendly and nice towards Dutch people, and very rude and sometimes aggressive towards non-Dutch speakers! Is this place non-Dutch unfriendly kind of a place? if so please let us know so we don't come here and spend our money and nice time!!!!!!

Cool spot with live jazz playing — gives off a great vibe, especially on a late summer or autumn afternoon. Only downside: the service. They’re quick to seat you, but after that it feels like you’re invisible while they do their own thing.

On planning my trip to the Netherlands - a country I was about to visit for the first time - I decided to stay in Utrecht instead of Amsterdam despite the fact that Amsterdam is one of Europe's most iconic cities. I felt that Amsterdam could do with one less Brit falling into a canal and on seeing that Utrecht is actually called 'Little Amsterdam' then that would be an excellent alternative choice of experiencing Dutch culture for a few days. When I got there. I was happy but I was also hungry too so near my hotel was Hofman's and it turned out to be a perfect choice as I went in there daily when I was in Utrecht. I had the same thing daily which was beef rendang and it tasted lovely - well, so much so I had it again and again because when I returned to England the chances of myself eating beef rendang is next to zero. Add to the delicious food, it had a great atmosphere and great service. However, despite all these great things about it, the best thing about my experience there was I got talking to some of the guys there and we would talk about travel (and the delights of Manchester) football (the fleeting fortunes of the mighty reds as well as the unfortunate business of Ajax losing to Alkmaar) and I don't know if they did this on both nights because they thought I might be lonely and might have wanted some company. Being a worldwide traveller like I am then you get accustomed to dining alone and have done so from Osaka to Iquique - being a solo traveller means it is a solitary endeavour both mentally and physically. If they did think this then it shows their wonderful empathy and kindness that I might have wanted company. I was happy to talk to them because they were interesting and pleasant and an absolute credit to their families as well as their workplace. A review can talk about the food and the prices (both were excellent by the way) but sometimes the humanity of such places need to be highlighted and I am happy to do this with Hofman in this review so it gets a full five stars from me.

Last visited September 2024 Dined at the bar as I was soli during this visit. Staff behind the bar was very useful. The selection (with help from staff) was just what I needed The duck was amazing.

I was served this undercooked salmon, hard and raw in the middle. The manager said "it is cooked properly". I spent €53.70, was not even offered free drinks or anything, I even sent them an email before posting this review but they completely ignored me

Highly recommend their sea bass (one of the best I’ve had)! Also had jambalaya but wasn’t my favorite out of the 3 dishes I had - tasted more like tomato sauce over rice. Portions are on the smaller side (i think it might be a tapas concept?) so dinner might cost you more for a fuller meal. Its a nice place for lunch and really affordable for the quality of food, lots of vegan options too.

Tasty food with nice interior. The menu for dinner is not specified, so it was confusing, i went for the Jambalaya but apparently it was on the dinner menu. This happened to the table next to us as well. From the lunch menu, burger was tasty as well as the stookbrood chicken

Nice cozy restaurant just off the main canal area. Service was nice as we were running late and they still kept our table reserved after we rang ahead. The food was nice too, a tad warm but not too much to complain about. Prices were a bit high for some products but we compromised on Nachos and pork which were tasty. Our waitress newly started working and nicely explained everything about the menu in a calm manner, seemingly confused about the menu at some points but clarified with another staff member later on which was good. Overall, a nice experience with nicely tasteful food and well received service.

Quick and friendly service. They forgot about telling us a plate was hot, but gave burn medicine and a free drink, so handled very well! Food was good for a nice price. Would recommend :)

I recently visited this spot in Utrecht and was impressed. Nestled by the water, it's the perfect place to relax, have drinks, and watch boats and shipping barges go by. The atmosphere is calming, especially when the colorful lights come on at night. Although the drinks are slightly pricey, with beers around 6-7 euros, the ambiance makes up for it. Seating options are varied, allowing for any size groups.

We were the first to arrive on a Sunday morning at 11am, which makes it hard to score the atmosphere. The feel of the place is relaxed, the staff young and a bit inexperienced but friendly. The food (Philly cheese steak and Caesar salad) was excellent, portions plenty. Location of this place is lovely; right in the nook of two canals merging into one with plenty of boat traffic to watch as you eat. Our experience was definitely good enough to return another day.

Nice location but I've been 3 times and the service is too bad. I was forced to use a QR and give a phone number (why?!), all in the name of "efficiency", but I had to wait 35 minutes for 3 beers without food. The food was average but expected for this place, and once I ordered a cubalibre, explicitly asking for Havana Club 5 which was in the bar. They told me to leave and wait on the table instead of picking it up myself. Surely they gave me a lower quality rum because it was the worst one I ever had.

Nice setting with a cool atmosphere, unfortunately the food was not great, we had the poke bowl and the portobello burger. The poke bowl tasted like it was all from a tin and the burger was uneatable, mushy, salty and stale. Would go again for drinks but unable to finish meals and had to go hungry.

Excellent place right before visiting Tivoli. Food is okay'ish. Ceviche was great but the burger was back to student times. Simple, no passion or 'lets make this a great experience' at all. It did reminded us where the eat best burgers in Utrecht, but that was not why we ordered the burger here. Just wanted a nice experience. Their wine selection is fine.

Worst experience in years. First course had plastic in from the carpaccio wrapping. They forgot to serve my main, when they served my wife’s. With each course they forgot the cutlery. My main course contained a large sheet of separating paper. The staff was so kind to give us a discount. We will never return though.

From the moment we entered, it took more than an hour for us to get our main course - even though we had booked this as a pre-dinner for a concert next door. They definitely need more, and above all more professional, service staff. (The guy in the kitchen did his best, but one person simply isn't enough...)

Had a very poor experience today for lunch at Danel’s. Very sad atmosphere, half of the place closed, barely any people. But okey we came for lunch, we were hungry. I order 00 sparkling wine which was mentioned in the menu per glas, but the waitress told me they serve it only per bottle, disappointing and not very customer friendly. Then I ordered a poached egg, which was very also very sad, one little egg on 10g of spinach with 2 big pieces of bread ( bread was nice by the way) for 15€. So very disappointing and sad experience

Had with small group a dinner. No high expectations just expected basic stuff. But was very disappointed with the veal hamburger; too much cooked close to black outside. Very hard burger, as well the bread was hard as stone. As I claimed this to the waiter she claimed this was normal and intended not too serve medium or medium are meat. Only very well done. Never had such a bad burger even without an apology. Be warned here….

Don't rely on them for prompt service. We arrived at 17:30, got our first course at 18:15, and then at 18:35, the waiter told us he would put through the order for our second course. At 18:55, he told us there had been some mixup and they were only now starting to prepare our second course. We decided we didn't want to wait, as it is no pleasure bolting a meal because you're anxious about getting to a concert on time. We made our dissatisfaction plain to the manager and he charged us only for the drinks. We grabbed some nuts at the concert hall bar before going in to the gig.

We ordered the House Burgers, expecting them to be a good choice, but the patties were overly dense and lacked flavour. They seemed to be Hanos pre-made rather than freshly prepared. The service was warm and friendly, but unfortunately, the wait for drinks was frustrating. After multiple assurances that they would arrive "in just a minute," we had to cancel our order after waiting 25 minutes. As a quick pre-show meal, the experience was acceptable, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to dine here again.

Divine food, excelent service, exquisite pairing of food with wine & heartwarming recomendations. Atmosphere is intimate, and yet enough people around you not to make you feel all alone. Highly recommended!

What a delight!! Roemer surprised us with a delicious 5-course lunch menu, great service and excellent original tea pairing. Definitely go and explore this restaurant just across the yellow bridge in Leidsche Rijn. You won’t be disappointed.

What a wonderful service and menu. The crew is very friendly and does know a lot of the ingredients, the wine and the taste combination of the wine/ingredients. Den Bosch is their root and heritage but I am so happy that they are nearby in Utrecht. Please do ask for the champagne and small dishes. And enjoy the menu which has been prepared by the chef. I will be back ;) and will enjoy their service and diner, so let’s get spoiled!

Revisited this place during the Christmas holidays in 2023. This time we sat at the chefs table and we loved the experience! Again, beautiful dishes with a lot of attention to details and flavors. Wines are paired perfectly. -------------- The ambiance and interior design of this restaurant is really lovely. It's good that there are plans to equip the large windows with blinds because it got really hot inside by evening because of the sunny weather all day. They have (each month) a fixed menu with a starter, main, dessert and 4 in-betweens, and you can opt for a course meal serving 3 to 7 courses. We selected the 5 course option including paired regular wines with an exclusive wine for the main course. Prior to the course meal we enjoyed a nice glass of bubbly wine and some tasty oysters. The amuse-bouche was very nice too. The wine and food pairing was good although personally we thought the paired wine for the dessert could have been sweeter to match the sweetness of the dessert (Riesling with peaches/almond). Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by the high quality level maintained by the restaurant. It's evident when looking at the food presentation, garnishes and combination of flavors. The staff was very friendly and both knowledgeable and passionate about the food and paired wines. They are very attentive to the guests' needs and their attention to detail doesn't go unnoticed as the evening passed. All in all we had a great experience and suffice to say that we are glad to have a place where you can enjoy a high level of fine dining experience without having to travel to the city center. We look forward to next time.

Elegant, sophisticated and delicate food with excellent service! Each dish is beautifully served and with seasonal produce. I've had a gluten free menu with the most gorgeous dessert I have had in my life. The chef made a genuine effort to accomodate my food allergy and made an exceptional desert. The atmosphere is also very nice and the staff very professional. This is a gem to be discovered!!

Since October last year, the Netherlands has gained a top restaurant, in fact, Gault-Millau has already found them: chef Glenn and host/sommelier Wim and their excellent team at #roemer-utrecht. Delicious 5- to 8-course menu, nice portions, delicious flavors, a different menu every month. Allergies are taken into account and the wines are top notch. The ambiance is chic-modern, lots of glass and shine, and the table layout has been well thought out. Many tables overlook the open kitchen, where you can watch the chefs at work. For ladies with high heels, the choice for the high chairs and tables is a little less suitable, but the chairs are comfortable. Nice to find such a neat restaurant in Leidsche Rijn, close to bus, train and parking garage, and cinema. All staff are friendly and know what they are talking about. Delicious food, at acceptable prices considering the level of cuisine. Open from 12 noon, also for lunch and wine and bites, closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

The finger food was nice, the pizza slice was delicious! They offer way more beer than one could choose from (that’s very positive)

Nice bar with a good selection of beers and above average service. Unfortunately, the food was average at best. In my opinion, nachos were lacking sour cream and cheese. Rice with shrimps was too greasy and slightly burnt. I only liked how chicken was spiced. Passion fruit martini was okay considering the price, but didn’t have passion fruit floating on top. Prices are reasonable, especially from Monday till Wednesday when they run special promo. Overall, I would not recommend the place, but you can still pay it a visit.

Great little bar in Utrecht! Cozy, quiet, and perfect for a drink with friends. They serve good beers and classic bar food like burgers, nachos, sandwiches, and salads. I had the nachos with stew it was delicious! The service was excellent: super polite, welcoming, and fluent in English. Prices are very reasonable (€22 for nachos and sparkling water). Highly recommend for a casual drink or quick bite. I’ll be back!

I had a brilliant experience at Brothers in Law Tap House tonight! Our waiter, Riyoshi, was incredibly attentive, helpful, and friendly throughout the meal. The burgers were amazing, really tasty and full of flavour, and the chips and salad were spot on as well. Last but not least, the craft beers were incredible!! I’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and lovely service!

Good range of beers, burgers were nice, staff friendly and helpful

It was my second time eating here, the quality has been dropped drastically since 5months ago I ate here

Beers were nice, the food is rather overpriced for such small portions.

Got seats at terrace, relaxing to sit here. Will be nice if it has no smoking part for outside area. We had drinks and snacks. Food and drinks are nice, bit pricy but reasonable. Fine service.

Great atmosphere, having a modern, upscale vibe without being intimidating. Menu is rather good, catering to most tastes. Beer selection is modest, and should be expanded. Service is sharp and friendly. Club sandwich is a winner. Burger somewhat disappointing, chips delicious, nachos below expectations. Hit and miss overall, but definitely a place to keep in mind.

I got refuge in De Beurs from a downpour and ordered mint tea and tomato basil soup and it was excellent. The soup comes with fresh bread and the tea comes with a cute gingerbread cookie. Tom served me and made sure to take care of me despite a busy day. 7 years ago, I lived in the city and never knew that the establishment used to be a stock market. I appreciate the historical facts. This is priceless. Thank you.

Perfect location and atmosphere to chill and eat in the summer! Always busy and sometimes you need to wait a bit for the staff to get the order.

Very nice ambient and location, in the heart of the city with a beautiful plaza, it´s usually very full, specially the outer-most tables. We ordered cocktails and beers, they were very good, decent prices.

Mojito was not very mango-y, but so tasty and great garnish! Really fun outdoor area and lots of space for groups of all sizes!

Quite unhelpful and unfriendly staff. When a 6th person joined out group, a staff member quite unfriendlily came to tell us only 5 people were allowed at one table and summoned one of us to leave. No explanation, no solution, no patience, no apology. Very interesting way of working in hospitality.

Fast service, great food, very decent pricing, and charming setting. There was self-service for fresh water with ice cubes and lemon (very appreciated on a sunny day!) which was for free. The apple crumble with caramel ice cream was especially wonderful. It was the drawing of the crumble on the chalkboard that pulled me in, so the artist did a good job!

One of the best place in Utrecht in summer time. Next to water. You can have nice fresh water with lemon ment ice. Personal nice and fast.

Been there a few times for drinks only after bicycle rides in the surrounding area. Car-free, quiet square at a confluence of roads and water ways with views of the old canal. Great beer selection and efficient cheerful service.

Friendly personnel, nice ambiance and they offer various food options. The four star rating is based on the very long waiting time (over an hour) for a simple team lunch I organized weeks in advance. However , this may just have been a bad one time experience, and they apologized by offering a free beverage. The food was tasty and the prices are reasonable. Restaurant looks clean and is very spacious.

Very accommodating and my entrecote was lovely. But we won't be coming back, because my friend who ordered the vegan burger went home and was throwing up and miserable the entire night after eating it.

Wonderful lunch experience! Came with a large group of 20 from work. Preordered our lunch ahead of time to give the chef's a chance to prepare and get everyone's order at the same time. Had the Philly cheese steak which was excellent 😋 awesome steak 🥩. Good coffee too

Nobody came to take our order or speak to us when sitting outside. Warm drinks weren't even in the menu that was on the table there. The hot chocolate and orange juice were mediocre.

We loved it! Really good service, amazing food (dessert was incredible) and overall really nice atmosphere. Maybe the music was not very fitting, but besides that I totally recommend it.

Never had a uncle who could cook well, was not boring and could make you delicious home made brownies? Rest assured, Uncle Jim provides it all. Your new favorite uncle in town, the one you DO want to visit besides the mandatory Christmas family gatherings. From a delicious and fun steak tartare to a very fancy French poussin, they have it all. Serving took a little long, our 3 meal course took almost 2 hours, but it was worth the wait. Nice atmosphere and decent staff, the only down point is that we were really looking forward to the brownie dessert because they told us they were freshly baked from that day, but they definitely were not. We ordered some tea and got a little piece of brownie with it, THAT piece was definitely fresh. So tasty. However, the taste of our dessert was good enough so it didn’t really bother us. The location is not really in the city centre. We had a good meal, but not that good that I would say walk the extra minutes after a day in Utrecht city centre. The hamburger was tasty, but the fries way too white and the salad bland. My friend had the goat cheese salad which was good. I also had the mushroom cakes they were excellent!

Delicious. The aubergine starter and the ice creams were a particular highlight. Good bread too. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Am surprised its not busier! Just avoid the yoghurt drink unless your palate likes sour milk :D I suspect it was authentic and good quality but also something you need to grow up drinking.

It was so yummy that I have forgotten to take pictures before starting eating. May the building's look not fool you, the place brings authentic Farsi vibes, good tastes, yummy doogh and safran ice cream as well as decoration reminding of Iran. I would definitely recommend it.

Caspian seems the only place in Utrecht that you may have have Persian food. It's not downtown but not too far. You need to take a tram. The restaurant seems part of a church. The Persian couple who manage the restaurant are nice and friendly. We ordered Ghormeh Sabzi and Dugh. It was tasty 😋

Such a cute persian corner restaurant with traditional food (my mom approved, so you know it’s good), they also had vegetarian options. The homemade saffraan ice cream reminded us of our childhood. The owners are very friendly and served us with care, can’t wait to be back!

The stuff was very kind and helpful. The atmosphere is a bit unexpected. On one side there are phone repairers, on the other side buurtcentrum plus church and then this restaurant without a door in between. When it comes to the food, you can find different types of meal which you can't find easily in the Netherlands. But, I can't say they were as delicious as i expected. There wasn't enough meat inside the main dish, for ex. Also the price is on the high end. I'll give them another try on a Saturday as it's the bbq day.

Lovely new restaurant/cafe! So much care has been taken in sourcing the products, a lot of dutch and Utrecht products on the drinks menu alone. The menus themselves are beautiful handmade paper from a local master paper maker. It is a family run business and the team are very welcoming and friendly. We just stopped for a (great) coffee but the borrell and menus looked great. Will be back!

An amazing new family restaurant in Zuilen. The new owners have worked every detail with so much care. From the handmade environment friendly menu to their nice recipes and freshly made food. Everything was delicious and we will definately dine there again.
