Mes Amis is halfway through a market cuisine unpretentious restaurant and a fine dining experience with a focus on wine, especially regional one. Settled on two floor it has a pretty cozy atmosphere, tables are not far from each other and everyone is talking and enjoying his time. The staff was very accommodating and is pretty knowledgeable about the local wines. I'd say is by far the most interesting wine tasting experience I had till now in a restaurant in the Netherlands, bringing highlights on the otherwise off the radar Limburgse wine scene. What is less impressive is the food itself, not bad of course but there is some work to do still. All round is a pretty good experience and I recommend the place in particular if you're a wine lover.

Dined with my wife and her sister. We had the 4 course dinner and only I took the wine arrangement as well. All the food and amuses were terrific. The food pairing was also wonderful. The wine knowledge of the ladies is very good. They know their stuff. I was looking forward to drink Limburg wines and I was not disappointed. My companions kept thanking me for the choice of Mes Amis. Would like to mention that I reserved the evening from Curaçao. My recommendation goes to everybody.

Our experience was a bit spoiled by the bone in one of the dishes. Although this did not get much attention from staff during the dinner, the chef kindly contacted me after to apologize and resolve the situation. First few courses were hit or miss including this situation, but the main dish and dessert were fine. The service and the attention of the chef saved the experience of the dinner overall.

Way too expensive for what you get. For the value… one of my least favorite restaurants I have ever been to. I have been twice… 6 years apart and had the same reaction. Normal food.. way too expensive… Sub par wine… good service and nice people though. Happy to pay top dollar for good food but this just isn’t it. Shocked how good the reviews are. Also had to pay a 100 deposit to come… strange.

The ambience is great and the food is delicious. However, some points could surely be improved. First, during reservation I indicated that one person does not eat meat. As appetizer we got sliced sausage, nothing else. Not really prepared I wonder? We had reserved at 17.30 but the restaurant first opened at 17.45, a little bit more respect for the customer perhaps? When examining the wine chart, the owner disappeared and the waitress first asked us just before the main course which wine we wanted. A little late perhaps? The food is really good but the greens with the first course where prepared without love and the carrots of the main course were quite uncooked and hard to cut with a knife. The dessert was also in need of some TLC. Price wise it is fine, the courses are very well priced, some wines are however quite expensive when compared to market prices.As said earlier, the food is really good and it was a great experience but it could be excellent when paying attention to some details and some more TLC.

I am currently visiting Maastricht from Den Haag and have just had the 5-course Christmas Day menu at Bouchon d’en Face. It was such a lovely experience and it was nicely decorated for Christmas, with Christmas music playing. I had the pescatarian option, as I do not eat meat and the chef did a fabulous job with making these changes for me. All 5 courses were so tasty and the wine and champagne were great too. I also wanted to say a big ‘thank you’ to the staff; I was dining alone, and they all made me feel comfortable and were attentive to me. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Maastricht.

We visited Bouchon D'en Face with our staff party and had our menus all sorted our. Great job on handling such a massive group so well. I enjoyed my stay (I'm sure we all did) and the food we got served. I had the steak tartare and the codfish as the fish of the day. I hope to visit the restaurant again in my own time with my partner.

Delicious food! We had a small onion soup each (great value, with garlic butter and bread) and the Maastricht been stew to share. Atmosphere was chill when we were here for dinner during the Christmas markets. Service was nice, would definitely recommend.

Val-dieu salad is outstanding! We also ordered Eggs Benedict with bacon, it was delicious.

Had a great Sunday lunch at the place. The place was running full so it took sometime to get a seat and the food. But the food was great though weirdly they were initially stingy about giving tap water though later gave a glass.

We were sitting on the terrace and it took a long time when the waiter was finally outside. Took quite some time for him to come back with the menu and even longer before he came back to order. Probably it was just busy or understaffed I don't know but we were annoyed by the waiting times. Jenever was good though, luckily!

Fantastic place with really excellent regional specialities. We had em all. Onion soup, Asparagus soup, beef stew, pickled rabbit, and when we wondered if we could get something for our dog (who had been welcomed with open arms) chef did a beautiful salmon steak without sauce etc and they unilaterally chose to make it half price! All three of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Though i suspect we’ve made a rod for our own backs re the hound! Did i say that the service was more than excellent. Loved this place

The salad was good. The meat in the skewers was dry. The place is covers with trashy plastic flowers. Surfaces were dusty. They’ve covered the beautiful brick wall with ugly pictures. Plastic broken flowers on the tables. The lunch menu is interesting with local dishes, but the dinner menu is really boring. A place with alot of potential.

My first compliment is for the great serving attitude the staff has: from the person who welcomed us without a reservation and made an effort to give us a place where we hoped to be seated, to the waitress who graciously dealt with my “extra side dish” wishes. The second compliment is to the chef. His/her Salmon Filet with potato gratin with a secret (broccoli) ingredient was so mouthwatering, so I had to order another one! 😇 Thank you very much for making our final dinner in Maastricht a success!

My lowest ever review. Came in drawn by highly praised reviews. Place looks really good, nice setting, great building and fabulous inner court. However, staff seamed very distracted by something, drinks were served smaller than should have been and then staff totally forgot to ask or offer anything else. Can’t comment on food because I didn’t get a chance to try anything.

The service was good and the food was ok. Tried the zoervleis (beef stew) for the first time, surprisingly decent. They also have a nice selection of tap beers.

Glad I got to try the stew. Fish and chips were good. Our server was not as friendly but we enjoyed the evening.

Luster is a cozy Mediterranean spot in Maastricht with super tasty shared dishes. The Steak Tartare and Bao Buns were standouts, and the vibe is relaxed but stylish. Great flavors, friendly service—definitely worth a visit!

We had the Korean sticky chicken and the beef cheeks, which were delicious but the portions were very small.

It was another great evening @Luster for my wife & me! We also invited a friend from Aachen & she was very impressed too. We all will come back again next time we're in Maastricht ...

While it is a shared concept dining , I found that slightly difficult to follow. Compared to other such similar places, the menu framed it as a starter and main course. When ordered as such, the staff seemed unclear on what we intended to do. The starters were very good, the mussels and Korean chicken were done great. The main courses were slightly less impressive, the duck was good but the sauce was a bit excessive. The dumplings were ok. The cocktails looked nice conceptually, but ended up being quite excessively sweet. It would be 4 stars if not the high price.

The two chairs were full of hair or fur... The presentation of the dishes was not bad. They were not spiced at all what is ok when you have salt and pepper on your table. We wanted to ask waiters for bringing us spices, but they were too busy by talking 3 of them and by ignoring us. The cherry on the top was hair in the dish of my husband and the bone in my filet of the fish. The portions are too small for the paid price (ex. Only fish with the sauce is 25.50€, fries = 6€). I would not recommend it!

Really nice food and atmosphere, waiter was kinda rude though 😔 Also I don’t know if it’s customary but what kind of place makes it a requirement to order drinks even if you’re getting food? Maybe it’s just a culture shock but I’d keep that in mind if I were to go again.

During the calm morning of Carnaval in Maastricht i sat down in this Taverna and i was welcomed by a very forthcoming waitress. I opted for the Tortilla de patatas. Which was very good. The taste was strong and the presentation was also really good. The bread which came with it was also very soft and high quality. I would definitely recommend coming here to get a little lunch or late breakfast! Only downside was that they did not have the Sopa del dia but that must be a coincidence.

A good mediterranean experience, especially for internationals. The menu has different flavors from Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece, that overall were good. I especially recommend the stew meat and meatballs - extraordinary dishes to dip bread in. The portions are not big (even for tapas), so although I recommend to share the plates with your friends, prepare yourself to order a few more (2/3 portions per person). Being from Portugal, I would say it's a good effort.

Perfect place if you’re craving some tapas to share with a good wine. Recommend to try croquettes :)

i’ts a very cozy and nice terrace but you cannot take just drinks. When you are seated you will have to wait a long time for the waitress to come over as 3 of them walked by multiple times just to chat with eachother and not take notice of our willingness to order. We waited for 15 minutes, and after multiple times asking if they could take our order they just cleared tabled next to us and ignored us. They were more interested in getting the tables full than take care of the actual customers. We walked off after 20 minutes of no services. Do not reccommend!

Very delicious food but service is a bit random. The wait staff is in general very friendly but could be more attentive. We received some of our orders around the same time, but then there were two dishes where we had to ask what happened as it was then 30 min after we ordered. Great place if you are in the mood for multiple bites or like to share dishes with others

Everything was perfect. We ate burgers and they were delicious. I really recommend the avocado burger. Great selection of beers too. We ordered the burgers as medium, but you can also choose large. The portions were so big, if our burgers were medium size I wonder what the large looks like. Anyway, worth visiting!

We recently visited and encountered very unpleasant experience. Upon receiving our order, we found a hair in the food(looks like ball hair💀) When we brought this to the staff’s attention, they responded with a dismissive “Oh, okay” and did not even offer an apology. This lack of concern for customer service and hygiene is unacceptable.

Really nice spot. The salmon with dill sauce tasted great. Staff were very friendly and the service was quick even though it was busy. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Tried a traditional Maastricht dish: Maastrichts zuurvlees, sweet and sour beef stew. It’s an interesting dish and was quite filling with fries and salad. Since the sauce is sweet, it was too much to eat. Place was quite crowded and the service is pleasant.

I highly recommend the specialities of this restaurant. The beef zuurvlees and the chicken in peanut sauce were amazing. The service was super fast and the waiters & waitresses were really friendly. Also, the restaurant is in a very strategic area since it is close to the city center.

They are in a great location and have outdoor seating. The staff were very efficient and polite. The food was excellent. I got the French onion soup and the carpaccio sandwich. The French onion soup was probably the best I've ever had. The carpaccio was also good but needed a little something else, maybe just salt. My husband got the satay(?) Chicken and it was super delicious. Definitely would return.

Where do I begin. This experience was a great disappointment for me and my family. We had booked weeks in advance for a graduation dinner party of 11. The service was good but one of the members were inappropriate. I was served the tomato soup for starters which was bland and sour. Much too acidic - 2/5 - I could not even finish. For the main course, I ordered the Jamaican jerk chicken. This was my own error because how could I expect a Dutch restaurant to pull off a meal like this? I blame myself. The chicken was simply inadequately prepared, the combination of flavours on the plate also did not make sense… I left it untouched. Presentation made it look appealing…. The desert which was a simple vanilla ice cream and warm fruits. It was ok. It is safe to say I will not be returning here. Other members of the party were also unsatisfied with their meals and shared similar reservations.

Absolutely amazing place. The food is exquisite, prepared with the freshest local ingredients. I have no idea how they made that tomato soup, or the beef stew that I enjoyed as the main course. I wanted to keep the taste in my mouth long after I had finished each dish. Highly recommended to anyone, especially for mixed couples that consist of one vegetarian and one meat eater, like me and my girlfriend.

2021 update: what a disappointment, so much has changed. Now the menu is full with weird vegan and vegetarian things. Please go back to the old formula. I will not come anymore, my 5 stars go back to only 3 as being the average of 5 in 2018 and only 1 or 2 stars in 2021. 2018: Really nice restaurant which I always try to visit when in Maastricht. Friendly staff, good food for reasonable price. This time I took the 4 course dinner. Only the time between the courses was really long but for the rest it was lovely again. I will be back

The food is amazing and the staff is really friendly and careful. It was an amazing experience. The next time we are in Maastricht we will definitely eat there again! They have really good vegan and vegetarian options, not only the convention ones.

As other reviews indeed said: lot of veggie options. However, we expected more of it, tastes where not standing out for both our dishes. Service was good in the beginning of our stay, but after our main course no one come to our table for half an hour or so. We wanted a dessert and coffee but eventually decided to leave since no one asked us.

Super friendly staff, food was really nice. No hustle even with specific restrictions due to food allergies e.g. Glutenfree and nut allergies.

I gave it two additional tries after the first visit in hopes the poor customer service the first time was a one time event. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the fantastic views are not worthy of the very poor customer service. I would pay the high prices for mediocre food for the view, but the way we were “greeted”, and served our drinks and food made me feel frustrated each time we left. It almost feels like they don’t actually want customers coming to their restaurant. There are many places in Maastricht that have beautiful view (on ground level) with fantastic customer service and food.

Food really good, really nice location. However it took them 40 minutes to take our food order at lunchtime. We had to ask them to come and take our order. When the food came it was wrong so they took it away and then had to bring it back correct. The food was very tasty when it did arrive.

The worst Croque Monsieur I have ever seen, I just could not eat it. The waitress said it was ok, she is eating it every day.

We have eaten here many times. Breakfast, lunch & Dinner. Always good. This visit also. Food; tomato soup, pasta funghi & dame blanche were really tasty. Service a little slower than normal as shortstaffed.

I had a pleasant lunch and the food was as the reviews said. I had a decent glass of rose wine. The coffee wasn't impeccable, but being Italian I'm picky when it comes to coffee.

If you are looking for an extensive continental breakfast this place will not disappoint. Croissants, french bread, wholegrain are served with omelet or sunny side up eggs, cheese, ham jams, butter and a generous portion of salad and fruits. Bubbles are optional but orange juice and coffee/tea included.

I was there for a work christmas dinner and as far as fixed menu setups go, this was pretty good. I look forward to trying their full menu. They have a good selection of beers, including their own brew

We ordered the zalm salad, zourvlees, and chef's special fish. In my personal opinion, the food wasn't over the top. It was just okayish. The zourvlees was definitely better than what I had the previous night. Disappointingly the salad was below average.

We enjoyed beers, sweet potato fries and kind, friendly service during our brief visit to the charming town of Maastricht. Highly recommend Au Mouton Blanc for a break from hiking and sightseeing. The bartenders treated us very well! Thank you!

Review: I had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at this place. The bodyguard at the entrance refused to let me in, claiming I hadn’t bought anything to drink, even though I had already purchased at least three drinks earlier. His attitude was rude and unprofessional, and I felt completely disrespected for no reason. I’ve never been treated like that anywhere else. I won’t be coming back, and I don’t recommend this place to anyone who expects fair or respectful treatment.

Visited here on an overnight stop in Maastricht. Had looked forward to it, due to the good reviews and also the selection of local beers. The food was perfectly ok - my saté was tasty and the frietjes were delicious. My son said his steak was a bit small for the price demanded (but I said, that's just the Netherlands...). What caused us to leave before time was being ignored for easily 20 minutes by the two members of staff on duty when we had finished. They kept seeing us, walking straight past without saying a word and not clearing up. We had intended to stay for dessert and another drink but decided to pay and go instead (and got drinks elsewhere, in a place where we were served quite quickly...). I hope that this isn't the norm, because the place is quite charming otherwise (even if the menu had definitely seen better days...). Sadly, only 3* for this one....

What a lovely place to eat, greatly placed near the river but not on it. Nice in the center and if u dit outside you can people watch ;). That's not all, The service is great, Nice and quick with there handeling. We had a Social deal with carpaccio(Nice and flavourfull) steak(cooked a little to long-medium- i like it quite red), i had orderd the portsauce10/10 so good the proper sauce they served aswell but i didn't love that one tbh and doradefilet(with still some bones in it) and both a little under seasoned(fries aswell) the dessert was really Nice though! We had the cheescake and omg, besides the jelly top IT WAS one of the best cheescakes i have had! Chapeau. Only 14.90 We also orderd some bread and 2 botles of whine(the chardonnay and a red one) both lovely but expensive. 54 euro's for the bottels and bread....

This place deserves 5 stars. Not only was the service top notch, the food was perfectly portioned, flavored, and plated. I had the truffle ravioli and tiramisu for dessert. And a red wine blend. Everything was above expectations for me. Simple, but well done. Music over the speaker was at perfect volume for conversation and mixed well with the ambiance. Atmosphere was cozy but spacious.

Big disappointment. We came in and order was taken quickly. 10 minutes later food was already served, they had forgotten about our starters we ordered. Food was ok, but nothing extraordinary. Half an hour later we already were outside. Very expensive for the service and food quality offered

Great place with cool staff, sometimes extremely busy. Good choices of craft beers (draft) it’s not the best choices of wine but it’s ok. I didn’t try food but it looks tasty. It’s not cheap (little bit expensive like everywhere in Maastricht).

The location was excellent!! We had apricot Vlaai with hot drinks. If you are visiting Maastricht, I highly recommend trying Vlaai.

Rustic cafe in the very historic square of Maastricht (Amorsplien). Great selection of beer . The staff is very friendly and they have very good knowledge in beer and gives you great suggestions based on your taste or preferences . The terrace is also nice on a good summer day or when the weather is nice.

Nice ver, nice place. There is a good variety of bitterbollen. The beer selection is also very good. They have some fixed kinds and other rotating specialty beers. The bar inside is very pretty chill.

Nice place with good food! Being here two times and ordered the same thing... the quality was great both times. The staff was really helpful and brought our plates fast eventhough the Café was full of people. A star is missing because they don't have an English written menu which will be good to add having into consideration that tourists or expats might not know Dutch and they can take a little bit too long to bring the food. But other than that, I totally recommend it !!

I'd had onion soup and zuurvlees a couple of times. Since it was good we took our guests there right after the carnaval. However it was a big disappointment. The onions in the onion soup was cut so big and they were not well cooked. Zuurvlees was too sweet and the clove taste was too strong unlike the previous times. I ordered salad with smoked chicken. It was too salty. The food was nothing like the previous times. It's a shame that I gave such a bad experience to my guests.

Good place to try the Zuurvlees dish (typical in Maastricht), and all dishes come with fries. Onion soup as entrée was very good, but if you don’t eat a lot then it’s better to share.

Wonderful little "eetcafe". Atmosphere is great, you can stay for a while, have a drink (coffee, all sorts of beer or softdrinks). The food is very good for good and fair prices. Typical limburgish/netherlands food, especially the onion soup - a must! The staff is allways friendly and fast. So if you like these little restaurants away from the main ones, you will be happy with this. Its worth a visit.

Arrived around 12:40pm for lunch, and while the food was decent, the service was quite slow—even though there was only one other table occupied.

Absolutely a gem regarding the food and we also liked the decoration. The food is absolutely gorgeous, melting in the mouth, full of flavour. Plenty of really nice wine too. They open Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's. One place I will definitely go back to.

Delicious food! Other patrons were a tad drunk and roudy but j think we just had bad luck. Otherwise beautiful location and it was delicious!

Wow this place is gorgeous and also has amazing food! We tried the soup of the day (fennel soup) and mushroom risotto, both were absolutely delicious and highly recommended!

Extremely Loud, to many people in the same room. Service slow for large groups. Lots of stone.

Bitter customer experience. We arrive at 15.30 and order drinks. Then we wait for a good while to get someone's attention to order food. We are not the only ones, I notice that many customers stand up and walk to the counter to ask to pay or to order... The place is probably at 10% capacity, so not sure what was keeping everybody busy. Finally someone comes at 16.01 on the clock. I ask for one dish that was served till 16, and I am told that they won't bring it, because it's 16.01, and the boss said so. Good sense of business, boss, I ended up not ordering the dish, nor the coffee + dessert that I wanted afterwards. My partner orders a salad and asks whether it is gluten free as she's intolerant. The waiter doesn't know what gluten free means. We explain, and he confirms that the salad is 100% gluten free. When the salad arrives, it is covered in croutons. Can't say we enjoyed our stay.

Good food and view of the city. Fairly priced for a restaurant like this I guess. If you visited caves and got hungry after your tour I dont see any reason not to sit.

A brasserie with a beautiful city view, great selection of beers, and tasty food and snacks

Nice atmosphere, kind staff, quick service. We only went for drinks, but the coffee was also not bad.

My partner and I went there for the first time as we were in Maastricht going sightseeing for a few days. The restaurant was recommended by a friend of ours who has been there several times already and it was a win-win, as Michael Scott said. If you're spending your day walking around the outskirts of the city this is a must stop place because of their food, beers and the crews sympathy.

Wonderviews and fresh food. Food servuce was very slow. Waiters focused their attention on serving beverages which is a shame Food is fresh and good value

The perfect lunch with a nice view and dogfriendly staff. Is now part of our favs when coming back to Maastricht
