Bakery
Bova's Bakery, located in the heart of Boston's Little Italy, has been a beloved family-owned establishment since 1926. This 24-hour bakery offers an array of delectable Italian specialties including cannoli, cookies, pastries, and pies. In addition to sweet treats, Bova's also serves savory options such as calzones, sub sandwiches, and Sicilian-style pizza.
Really good. We had planned to go to Modern or Mike’s after dinner but the lines were crazy long. Earlier in the day, our doorman at The Dagny Hotel told us about Bova’s. We walked a couple of blocks to get there and their line was much shorter. From the time we joined the line, to walking out with our purchase was about 15 minutes at around 8pm on a Saturday night. We grabbed a Cannoli and a package of Lemon cake bites of some sort. Both were great. For such a small shop, Bova’s had a lot of variety or both baked sweet goods and savory food items. If you’ve been to Boston before, next time, give Bova’s a try. It’s only about a 5 minutes walk from Hanover St.

It’s an experience to say the least! Be ready to order when it’s your turn or they’ll skip right over you. Even if you just take a little too long like my husband did. The line was long but very efficient and moved quickly. The line was almost out the door when we entered and we were in and out within 10 or so minutes. The pecan pie bar is the best I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t even like cannolis but I like theirs!
Desiree B — Google review
Oh my goodness. 🤤🤤🤤 the crème brûlée cannoli was delicious. I ate a cannoli from another place the day before and thought I wouldn’t eat another one bc it wasn’t that great. However, this cannoli has changed my mind. Turns out you just need to have one from the right place. Which is this place. I also orders the Oreo cannoli and Oreo cheesecake. All three things were phenomenal.
Hannah T — Google review
Certainly better than the other bakeries in the area. Small, family run, and crazy efficient. Can be tough to know what you want as people stand way too close to the cases. The place is on par with the best in the remaining Italian-American enclaves in the US. Great pastries, good arancini, and solid, traditional cannoli. Individual canolo filled on the spot. When the line gets long they try to stay ahead of it, but probably never filled more than a few minutes before you get your. The Florentine cannolo is an absolute treat and worth the wait. The non-pastries are considered "drunk food" by the locals, but are still good.

We ended up in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts at Bova's Bakery the Institute of Yummy 😋🤤🔥 Deliciousness 😋🤤😋🔥. We lucked out and found Street Parking 🅿️ but there is Paid Parking 🅿️ lots and Garages a short walking distance . The Cannolis are so Delicious 😋🤤😋 and Crispy with Great fillings 😋🤤😋🔥. The Lobster Tails 🔥😋🤤😋 to the Cheesecakes 🍰 and Yummy Pastries 🧁🥮😋😋🤤😋 everything was Delicious 😋. The Calzones are also Excellent 😋🤤😋. They are open 24 Hrs a Day 7 days a week. Service was Excellent 👍. Always busy which is a great sign. Old School Italian 🇮🇹 Bakery ♥️🥰😍. Highly Recommend Bova's Bakery! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😋😋😋😋😋

Bova’s is not a spot to stop into for one thing, because it’s next to impossible. The smell from all the pastries and baked goods hits you before you even step in. We got 3 cannolis and a whale tail.. oh my. They were absolutely delicious & not too overly sweet. It’s open 24/7, so you don’t have to find a perfect time to come in. This spot is exactly what a bakery should be. Although we only had a few pastries, they had an amazing assortment of bread and other food too.

You’re in Boston, you’re craving old school Italian food, head to the North End! Any of the local spots are amazing and will satisfy your tastes. BUT afterwards, don’t get dessert in the restaurant. Instead head straight up the block to Bovas Bakery. Wait on the long line that usually can be seen coming out of the front door, it’s worth it! Every pastry and cake is fresh, soft and deliciously sweet! You can taste the quality with each bite! And it’s not expensive at all. We wanted to sample a few items so we got the whoopie pie, the black and white cookie and the Boston crème donut. All were out of this world and just $18 for everything! We walked down the block, sat on a bench and devoured everything! The whoopie pie was by far the best thing we had that day, get one, you’ll thank me!
Lawrence D — Google review
We found this place by chance. Seeing it's good reviews, we gave it a shot. The cannoli's were delicious! All the ones I had previously tried were extremely sweet. We also tried the tiramasu, which admittedly took me a few bites to appreciate. We then tried Mike's, because our trolley guides recommended them but we assume they must get paid for that because Bova's is far superior!

Cake shop
Modern Pastry Shop is a family-run Italian bakery in Boston's North End, known for its delectable pastries, cakes, pies, and cookies. While it may not have the same level of fame as some neighboring bakeries, it has been in business for almost 100 years. The shop offers an array of treats including butter cookies, raspberry bowtie cookies, rainbow Venetian cookies, cheesecake, and lobster tail pastries.
BRING CASH ONLY!!! Got me a delicious pistachio ricotta cannoli here. THEY WERE SCRUMPTIOUS. The ricotta was so light, so was the pastry, it was fresh and crispy. The ambience is great, it's busy, it's bustling, it's a true bakery because people were lining up for the goods. If only I lived in Boston, I would be here every week. I would try everything on the menu because I have a huge sweet tooth and everything seemed like it would be delicious.
Christine S — Google review
This place was recommended by a friend and it was amazing! There are so many treats to chose from! A group of us split a Boston cream, strawberry shortcake, hostess cupcake and peanut butter cupcake. They were all amazing! The lines can be long, but moves fast and worth the wait.
Kevin S — Google review
We had heard about this place and wanted to come there to check it out. There are two parts of the bakery, the take out portion and then a small seating area for dining in. We decided to dine in and had americanos and cannolis. They do have a gluten free cannoli which was delicious! The coffee and cannolis were excellent, and we were happy to have the experience at Modern Pastry! It is a cash only place, as an added piece of info.
Jeff — Google review
We came with one mission and that was for the cannolis. Modern Pastry Shop delivered, crisply, sweetly, and with just the right amount of powdered sugar chaos. This bakery feels like an Italian tradition. I loved it the moment I stepped in! The display window boasts trophies, vintage photos, and branded merch, hinting at a legacy of excellence. But it’s the dessert case that truly steals the show, rows of chocolate-dipped cannoli, glossy cupcakes, and pastries so artfully arranged they practically beg for a photo op. We grabbed a pair of cannolis and settled into their seated section with espressos in hand. It’s a cozy nook tucked away from the bustle, perfect for savoring each bite. The cannoli shell was crisp and golden, the filling rich and velvety, and the chocolate-dipped ends added a decadent finish. The almonds were a nice touch as well. Beyond the sweets, the shop doubles as a gourmet market, with shelves of pasta, olive oil, and imported snacks. Service was quick and friendly, even with a steady stream of customers. Modern Pastry was a great play’s to grab a classic cannoli, a strong espresso, and a seat to enjoy them both.
Holly — Google review
It's no wonder there is a long line. The cannoli here is made fresh to order and filled with cream and powdered sugar. The crunch gives it a lovely texture. I would even say it's better than the ones I've tried in Italy! I ordered the creme brulee and the Napoleon as well, but none compared to the cannoli. It's truly better than the rest. The lobster tail is another popular choice. They also have coffee and other drink options. The line moved fast and the staff was great at efficiency. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. There are even tables to sit, although I did not. I ate mine near the swings. It's cash only.
Amy B — Google review
Christina Aguilar is it true asset to this place her personality goes a long way. The pastries in baked goods are fantastic. I ordered cannolis with traditional stuffed ricotta dipped in chocolate and pistachios and there were no regrets! Maybe one regret... That we didn't get more. Be prepared to stand in a line that moves pretty quickly and is cash only.
Michael C — Google review
Modern Pastry is Boston's best for cannoli and freshly baked Italian pastries. The connoli shells are baked in advance (daily) but they aren't filled until the moment you order them amazing, and they are ridiculously delicious! Modern has been here for more than 50 years. Mike's Pastry, located on the opposite side you may be better known for tourists, but Modern is the place where the locals go! 100%recommend!
Hagz — Google review
Excellent experience!! So many people, line out the door, just everything I’ve heard of Boston being. Location was amazing and they had a lower level where people would meet up for tours and pizza/bar. Highly recommend the hostess, SO good!!

Founded by Harvard graduate Joanne Chang, the bakery has become a staple in Cambridge and Boston. While not entirely gluten-free, they offer homemade gluten-free bread for sandwiches and breakfast options. The menu includes signature items like Sticky Buns, Mile High pies, super-moist banana bread, sandwiches, seasonal poptarts, cookies, pies, cakes and more.
Update (Early July 2025): Cake back a week later and absolutely loved the Avacado Toast. Coffee was as smooth as always. Coffee Cake was okay. Biscuit with Jam and the Vanilla Donut was awesome! Late June 2025: Came here because we were gifted an excellent cake from the few weeks ago. One of the best (bacon) Quichie I have had ever. ($8) Coconut Cream Pie ($6.50) was good as well. Very smooth but bit sweet Iced Latte. (Added Hazelnut Syrup) The location was very busy on the Saturday Morning. I'll come back for sure!
Chanaka H — Google review
Ordered a vegan hot chocolate and an almond macaroon (vegan & gluten free). The macaroon was delicious!! Perfect size and just enough sweetness. The vegan hot chocolate wasn't as sweet but I thoroughly enjoyed it as I walked around Public Garden in the light rain. Really nice workers and great atmosphere! 💞

Had the chicken artichoke pizza and it pleasantly surprised me! The crust was fluffy and the toppings had a lot of flavor. It was a good size too considering we are in back bay. The outdoor seating was great in the nice weather too. Unlike other places there are also a good number of servers.
Kathy Y — Google review
I have been to flour bakery on multiple occasions and it never disappoints. I tried their coffee, tuna melt sandwich, applewood smoked bacon sandwich and added chicken to it, sticky bun and lemon meringue pie and would recommend them all. My favorite sandwich is the applewood smoked bacon.

I wanted to have breakfast and chose this place. Atmosphere and location amazing, you can seat outside and eat. I ordered cappuccino big size, they did delicious coffee and cup was full, I’m grateful. Also I ordered avocado toast and added salmon. Sandwich was good and big. Salmon I didn’t really liked it because it was cold and salty. I didn’t know that and didn’t ask. I thought it will be on sandwich or slices. Price is 9 dollars for additional salmon. Total 35. Expensive, but when you want to it.

friendly and patient and accommodating staff!! great selection of pastries and food available!! Boston crème pie was perfection, each layer was delicious and a delight!
RAHAF M — Google review
1 star for Flúor Bakery + Café. Terrible experience. I ordered an egg sandwich and a meat one — both were awful, I had to throw them out completely. I get that taste is subjective, but this was unacceptable: cold, flavorless, and not fresh at all. Service was poor, staff seemed uninterested and unmotivated. On top of that, the kitchen area and product display counter were dirty. They really need to fix or invest in those details. I don’t recommend this place at all.
Cristian S — Google review
This place offers high quality coffee and food! We had a delicious egg sandwich. French toast had an unique flavor. We also tried cheese cake and chocolate chips. Everything fresh and made with care, high recommended! The place can get busy over the weekend.

Bakery
Clear Flour Bread is a beloved bakery located in Brookline, known for its traditional French, Italian, and German baking techniques. Established in 1982, the bakery has perfected the art of creating authentic bread and pastries from Europe.
Delicious bakery with the croissants a stand out. Long line, we waited like 20 minutes, but worth it for the goodies. The coffee shop is separate, so if you go with someone, you can split up and order drinks while one person waits in line. Small area inside, no seating
Cami T — Google review
As recommended by a friend, we made the trip to Clear Flour Bread in Brookline on a Sunday morning. Even before we parked, we spotted the line of people waiting outside and knew right away that our 50-minute drive would be worth it. The pastries did not disappoint—everything we tried was absolutely delicious. While there’s no indoor seating, you can enjoy your fresh-baked treats on a bench right outside, which adds to the charm. It was also surprising to learn that most of the customers were locals who stop by almost every week—always a good sign! The only downside is that they don’t serve coffee at the same counter, so we had to grab ours from their Coffee Bar next door. Still, I’ll definitely be coming back.
Wei W — Google review
Later during my visit to Boston, I made my way to Clear Flour Bread, a charming bakery tucked along Thorndike Street in Brookline. I had been searching for a small, welcoming spot to pick up a few pastries for a casual gathering, and from the moment I stepped inside, it was clear this was more than just a bakery—it was a carefully curated experience. The aroma of freshly baked bread, warm pastries, and subtly sweet cakes immediately enveloped me, offering a sense of comfort and anticipation. The interior exuded classic Boston bakery charm, simple yet elegant, with displays that made every item feel inviting and carefully considered. I picked up a cinnamon crumb cake, a molasses spice cookie, and a chocolate bundt cake made with 25% rye flour and topped with chocolate ganache. Each item reflected a balance of texture, flavor, and craft. The crumb cake was perfectly tender with just the right hint of cinnamon spice, the molasses cookie had a deep, rich warmth that lingered, and the chocolate bundt cake was indulgent without being heavy, with a ganache that elevated the experience further. Benji, who served me, was incredibly kind and welcoming. He even offered a small, fresh piece of bread on the house, a gesture that felt genuinely thoughtful and added a personal touch to the visit. It was the kind of hospitality that makes a place memorable beyond its baked goods. As I noticed a line forming outside the bakery, I understood immediately why: Clear Flour Bread delivers pastries and breads that are not only delicious but carefully considered, with each bite reflecting skill and care. The combination of thoughtful craftsmanship, inviting atmosphere, and genuinely warm service makes this a spot I would return to without hesitation.

Thanks to google maps, this sparked our curiosity. Highly recommend. Wonderful selection of fresh made breads and pastry eats. We ordered quite a bit since we wanted to try as much as we can. Our stay was short but we'll be here again if we're in Boston.
Nhan T — Google review
Went to pick up some bread and baked goods. The line was crrrazzzy but I wasn't expecting it so maybe that's just something you must emotionally prepare for ahead of time. The staff were very nice. Their baked goods and bread were lovely but not mind blowing. I'm not sure I'd go back but if you're looking for something on a nice day it could be a good option.
Meaghan K — Google review
All the bread here is amazing!! Everything I’ve tried is so fresh and delicious. The staff is super friendly too. Highly, highly recommend!
Yoona J — Google review
Stepped in on a gloomy fall Sunday, looking for a hot cup of coffee and I was not disappointed. We ordered a hot honey vanilla latte and a mocha latte, both of which were exquisite. What struck me the most was the high quality milk that was being used which was the organic whole milk in glass jars. This really mattered because the coffee was rich and it absolutely delectable. They also offer a range of condiments which can be purchased. Overall, a highly recommended cafe.

chocolate pretzel croissant. what more could you want? service was also divine, I called in the morning to see when the pretzel croissants would be available (12-12:30pm) & the guy on the phone was super helpful. staff were super kind & though small, the atmosphere inside was cozy & inviting. I love being spoiled for choice in a bakery & this did not disappoint. would love to come back for more

Sofra Bakery & Cafe is a cozy bakery known for its Middle Eastern sweets and savory bites, offering a small patio for outdoor seating. It's a popular spot in Boston, drawing in locals and visitors alike with its delectable pastries like pistachio rosewater croissants and bittersweet chocolate tahini tarts. The establishment also serves up savory specialties such as shawarma sandwiches and baked feta adorned with rhubarb.
This place was recommended and after receiving a gift card I went with my mother to check this place out. While pricey, if you’re willing to cough up some cash it is well worth the money for the quality you will get from this food. We had ordered the Turkish style breakfast which had a soft boiled egg wrapped in an ingredient I do not know the name of but it added crunch and mild sweetness to it. There were cucumbers, olives, tomato that was mashed and sweet yogurt which was topped with seasonal spoon sweets. You can refer to the image but this was one of my favorite things with the blend of refreshing vegetables that were light and paired with sweet creamy substances. It was filling yet not overbearing. Geno’s egg sandwich was worth the getting my hands messy as the egg was cooked just enough that the yolk broke upon first bite adding extra flavor that brought out the halloumi cheese and tomato concasse. The granola bowl was another favorite being served in Egyptian carrot jam and labne that made it stand out compared to other granola bowls. We had purchased the Turkish coffee which we felt was decent but not as good as Andala coffee houses especially when comparing price and value. The desserts were the date almond ma’amoul and chocolate tahini tart. The tart was smooth, rich and not overly sweet compared to the breakfast Items which was a nice change. Lastly, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The music was middle eastern and not so loud that you could not have a conversation.

Cute homey feel cafe. Great breakfast & lunch options. Great loving customer service feels like family. My chicken shawarma and pumpkin latte was 100% perfect! Also my group ordered feta whip, cookie, lamb shwarm, Arabic coffee and tea all delicious including my BLACK SEA CORNBREAD. Wow! Breakfast weekdays 8-11am weekends is till 2pm Lunch 11am-close daily

Shakshuka is a must try 🥘🫓! The portion isn't that big but great for one person or to share with another as a small brunch. It comes with a pita that's hot and very soft. Also, very picture worthy 📸

Delicious Turkish menu with extremely fast service. The place though small it has a warmth about it. The siting space is limited but waiting is worth it as food is amazing. The servers are courteous and sweet. No nonsense place with some amazing dishes. U can also pick up thinsg off the shelf. Nice memorable experience.

What a gem! My husband and I stopped in here to grab a quick lunch on a recommendation. We were blown away by the food, pastries, drinks and little mini market. We ended up buying some treats to bring home. Highly recommended!

Wow the flavors here are so fresh and unique!! When we entered, I was skeptical, but the food was so good and like nothing I've tasted - admittedly I don't eat at meze places super often. The chicken wings (date molasses bbq and lemon herb on top) were SO good, the flatbread and shawarma tasted different from any other place bcus of the filling. The shakshuka came with pesto which was jnteresting. Highly recommended. There's not a lot of seating and it's a free for all so don't come with a group expecting to sit.

I love Sofra! I grab lunch to take home all the time and when I can get a seat inside for breakfast I love to sit by the window! Pastries are amazing, the morning bun latte is my go to, and all of their mezze options are fab!

Ordered Çilbir which is a poached egg w/garlicky yogurt, fingerling potatoes, chile butter, toasted buckwheat, and their Turkish-Style Breakfast of soft-boiled egg, cucumber, tomato, olives, feta, yogurt, seasonal spoon sweets. Quality was outstanding but quantities small. Service was fine. Coffee was very good. The interior is a bit cramped but there's some seating outside. There's a small parking lot next door.

Mike's Pastry is an iconic Italian bakery that has been serving delectable pastries since 1946. Located in Boston, this beloved dessert spot offers a wide array of treats, including cannoli, gelato, biscotti, and oversized cookies. The menu features an impressive selection of cannoli flavors such as Nutella, pistachio, espresso, amaretto, and lemon. Despite being popular among tourists, the wait for their famous cannolis is well worth it.
So happy to see Mike's Pastry's in the train station. There was no line on a Saturday afternoon. We picked up a piece of tiramisu, which was delicious. They had many delicious options to choose from even though this is a much smaller location. We will definitely be back next time we take the train.
Catherine P — Google review
Before I even get to how good the cannolis are… we were stunned by the line at the North End branch, especially after already waiting 45 minutes at Neptune Oyster. So we detoured to this other branch instead. Hardly any wait (just 5 minutes!) and it was worth it. The cannoli was out of this world: crisp shell, rich ricotta filling. I loved the classic ricotta, sometimes less really is more. Highly recommend walking the extra 10 minutes to this branch inside a food court. Bonus: air conditioning and actual seats to enjoy your cannoli in comfort.
Chanel C — Google review
The mousse cake was fantastic. Couldn’t decide on a cannoli flavor to try. Cake was worth the stop. Other items looked great as well. In a food court with other restaurant/shops.
Kaleb D — Google review
Wowza! That was a good cannoli. The store was packed. We ate 2 kinds. Ricotta and amaretto. We like them a lot
Nate D — Google review
Cannolis were bigger than expected and cost $7 to $9 depending on which to get. We got a coated chocolate and a coated chocolate. Service was quick and you get your snack within two minutes.
Millie J — Google review
Stopped by and got a canoli and a slice of carrot cake. Both were good and my wait was less than 5 minutes.
Stephen S — Google review
Tried a few things here that turned out good. The strawberry cheesecake was great. It was quite rich, but flavorful. The pineapple coconut pastry was also on point. It was lighter but tasted good and wasn't overly sweet. I'd try again for sure.

I have been a customer at Hanover for years. Great cannolis and great service , kind staff, always welcoming customers. Instead, after three times I was al Mike’s Pastry close to North Station , I gave up. I erased that selling point from my list of shops. The lady who is there looks like she does not like her job and like she does not like customers. Never a sign of kindness. Never a word. Always looking at you bothered . If you ask anything she barely answers with an annoyed silent gesture. If you do not see that mute gesture because you are distracted you have to ask again. So, your asking twice can cause a major annoiance. Never any more !

Tatte Bakery & Cafe in Back Bay offers a cozy and rustic atmosphere where visitors can enjoy breakfast, soups, sandwiches, and an assortment of baked goods. The cafe's Parisian-inspired ambiance is popular among locals who gather for house lattes with cardamom and honey or indulge in shakshuka and freshly baked challah bread, paying homage to the owner's Israeli heritage.
I know this is a chain and I usually go to small quaint coffee shops when I'm visiting a town, but this is definitely worth a stop! It was probably the best cup of coffee/latte I had on my entire trip to Boston. Their pastries and desserts are delicious! Really cool vibe on the inside and there is outdoor seating as well. I can't imagine you would not be able to find something that you would enjoy here. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or a late snack/ dessert. I highly recommend!

I have a gluten allergy so it was nice to have a breakfast option that included bread. Had the smoked salmon egg breakfast sandwich, absolutely delicious and fresh —paired that with an oatmilk latte. The hubs had the lamb hash, also fresh and amazing. We left with happy, full belly’s.

We stopped in during our trip and were instantly hit with the smell of fresh pastries- it was warm, cozy, and so inviting. The place was super clean, and the outdoor patio was adorable. The breakfast sandwiches tasted really fresh, and the pastries were delicious. We tried the pumpkin latte special too—it was just okay, but the overall vibe made it worth the stop. Definitely glad we swung by.

Lovely breakfast place, great variety of pastries but also hot food. I came on a Sunday and it was very busy managed to get a seat at the bar as I was alone. Back again on Monday and it’s much quieter. The overnight oats are delicious! Will be back everyday whilst I am here for work for the UK.
Batul — Google review
This place had a huge line which after waiting 10 minutes to order I was excited. Their food presentation was quite nice, it’s definitely too bad the flavor wasn’t a match to the appearance. The chocolate muffin looked awesome but it was totally dry inside. The pumpkin pie and pecan dessert were equally disappointing as they looked so good. Overall maybe I ordered the wrong things or this place has good coffee but it was a big disappointed for me.
Coach T — Google review
We were staying a block from here, decided to pop in and great choice! It was tough to choose because everything looked so good but we weren’t ready for a full breakfast. We chose a chocolate and almond croissants. The chocolate one had perfect amount of chocolate as did the almond. Caramel latte and strawberry tea refresher which was a tad too sweet but both were good. I wish we lived closer, I’d be there often.
Christol S — Google review
The food is delicious and made with such care — every dish tastes fresh and flavorful. The pastries are outstanding — flaky, fresh, and just the right amount of sweetness. The café has a warm, inviting atmosphere and the staff are always friendly and helpful. A perfect spot for brunch, coffee, or a sweet treat. Highly recommend!

The breakfast items are great. The pastries are even better. Staff is friendly and attentive. Only downside is finding a seat, it took a while for table space to become available. It seems people linger long after they finish eating.

La Saison Bakery is a charming bake shop in Cambridge, founded by pastry chef and chocolatier Soheil Fathi. Originally established in Tehran, the bakery offers a delightful array of treats such as sourdough-crust pizza, artisan bread, gourmet pastries, and high-end chocolates. The menu features delectable cakes like Honey Apple and Chocolate Pudding slices or whole cakes like Vanilla Rosewater Nude design.
Got the Iced Rose Latte (half sweet), Peaflower Tea, Feta Za’atar Scone, Pain Au Chocolat, and Orange Cardamom Scone. The rose latte was spectacular! The drink was very well balanced: it was adequately strong, milky, and sweet. The homemade rose syrup tasted really good without taking away from the coffee taste. The Peaflower tea was also really good and unique. The highlight was the Feta Za’atar scone. Beware that it’s a bit salty, but I enjoyed it. The pain au chocolat was a miss imo as the dough wasn’t flaky enough and the chocolate filling tasted mediocre. The orange cardamom scone was pretty good, but nothing spectacular.
Salokya S — Google review
This place is one of my favorites—I’m a big fan of their sourdough. The pastries are great too, but the sourdough really stands out as some of the best in Massachusetts. But the coffee... I was honestly shocked by the milk foam today. Given the price and the beans, it should be at a specialty level, but the barista clearly didn’t put any effort into it. I wasn’t even expecting latte art, but I did expect a bit more care than this
MJ — Google review
The La Saison is a great bakery shop. The rose latte and Saffron latte were so delicious. Their cheesecake “Akbar mashti” was also delicious and not only packed with sugar. We got also breakfast sandwiches that were good too. I would come back again for lattes and pastries!
Aref A — Google review
Sandwiches are generally available after 10 am. Egg burger with cheese is nice however, it'd be better to put some leaves. Croissants are good. They have various bakeries, chocolate cakes and rolls.
Fuzuli A — Google review
Croissant was quite good (especially for Boston) with a very good pull and nice loud crunch sound. Kouign Aman was delightful, light and sweet. Pain au chocolate was not bad—very nice dark chocolate but the pastry itself was a bit less puffy and crispy than I would prefer. Outdoor seating only, the vibes are great, queer friendly, and relaxed(even if the construction across the street is awful and has been going on for years).
Jared — Google review
The bread here is significantly overpriced for the quality. Paying $7.50 for a barbari bread that isn’t exceptional feels unreasonable. The long lines, crowded space with no indoor seating, fancy lattes, and Americanized Middle Eastern offerings generate hype and make the menu accessible to a wide audience, but the bread itself doesn’t measure up. There are other bakeries that offer tastier breads at far better value. Gyumri Lavash, Clear Flour and Hungry Ghost all make breads with superior flavor and texture that are worth paying a premium for. I wanted to love this place because of the team running it, but it feels more reliant on marketing and hype than on true quality.
Sood E — Google review
Coffee great and their baked foods are fresh and delicious. Ordered Saffron Pistachio croissant, totally loved it

La Saison Bakery in Cambridge offers delicious baked goods and charming atmosphere. During our recent visit, we quickly fell in love with the bakery, and it's easy to understand why our friends recommended it. We can't wait to come back! The bakery features a varied menu that includes drinks, pastries, breads, breakfast and brunch options, sandwiches, pizzas, cakes, and retail items like jams. During our visit, we ordered the Arugula & Burrata Pizza and the Hot Soppressata Pizza, opting for two slices of each. Both flavours were delicious in flavour and quality. Their Sicilian-style pizza slices were selling out fast during our midday Sunday visit. All of their baked goods looked and smelled delicious and offer limited sourdough flavours depending on the days of the week. Do note, they feature minimal outdoor seating and has a small storefront which does not have indoor seating.

SALT Patisserie, located in Piccadilly Square in Newton Centre, is a must-visit for anyone looking for custom cakes and delectable pastries. This new establishment has quickly gained popularity since its 2022 debut, impressing locals with its everyday breads, laminated pastries, and exquisite fruit tarts. Founder and chef Thiago Silva's incredible creations have even caught the attention of celebrities and food TV viewers.
Amazing gourmet croissants and French pastries. Heard this was the best bakery in Newton. A classic French patisserie focused on laminated doughs and elegant cakes. Nothing overly trendy—just refined, well-crafted pastries that speak for themselves. On my first visit, I was hoping to try their smoked salmon croissant sandwich, but turns out it’s only available on weekdays. Ended up going with the BEC croissant instead. No regrets. Buttery, flaky layers with just enough richness to support the egg and bacon without overpowering it. From the rest of what I tried, my favorites were the truffle potato croissant, Black Forest cake, and passion fruit tart. Truffle and potato is a pairing I’ve seen plenty of times, but rarely in croissant form. Clever and comforting. Earthy truffle notes, soft potato filling, all tucked inside those shattering layers. The tart was bright, silky, and sharply tropical. The kind of thing that wakes up your palate. The cake was rich but not heavy. Flavors of cherry and dark chocolate came through cleanly, without feeling too syrupy. Still a bit out of the way for regular visits, but I’d absolutely swing by again to try more of their croissants.

A quick Sunday morning stop at Salt Patisserie. Great selection of baked goods at the hour, short line, and not much of a wait. 5 stars to the team — super knowledgeable, attentive, and happy to walk you through the options. Loved the experience! Thank you! The coffee cruller was delicious. There’s seating both inside and outside; parking was easy, and free on Sundays. Cheers!

I love the pastries and coffee here, there is not a single thing I have tried that I didn’t think was exceptional. I really enjoy their breakfast sandwich, almond croissant, bread, and iced lattes in particular! But really I feel that you cannot go wrong with anything here. It is a bit more pricey, and there is very little seating inside and outside, but it is so worth it!
Lily C — Google review
SALT Patisserie is an European bakery in the heart of Newton Corner, with a wide range of pastries, breads, and more. The staff were friendly, though it was a bit confusing because the lines weren't well established and because of how the pastry shelf is, there were many people who hadn't ordered yet but were just standing and browsing pastries, leading to people cutting each other. We got a cinnamon roll here. It was pretty good, with a decent taste and enough glaze within and on top of the roll. The bread itself was light and fluffy, and didn't feel heavy.
Nick S — Google review
It was our first visit to this cafe. We loved the croissant and passion tart. Good customer service and was a nice place to enjoy pastry and coffee eventhough we didn't try coffee this time. We will definitely go back. Paid street parking.

Fabulous pastries and highly recommend. This pastry shop has great quality of croissants. You don’t need to go to overhyped shops in Boston. On a Sunday morning before church I ordered a plain croissant and a raspberry crème croissant and they were both great. The raspberry creme used a fresh good quality raspberry puree and diplomat crème with real vanilla beans I can see the specs from the pods. The crust was crispy and flakey. So good I was just in silence. I also ordered a small cold brew and ate outside. Highly recommend for quality pastry. I will be back

I feel lucky to have a local bakery in Newton Centre!

Flour Bakery + Cafe has recently expanded its offerings with a new location in the Seaport, which is now available for online ordering and delivery. This vibrant spot features an outdoor counter and pickup window, perfect for enjoying the bustling atmosphere of Boston Common. Guests can indulge in a delightful array of menu items, from their beloved Dijonnaise breakfast sandwich to sweet treats like apple snacking cake and cookies.
Great stuff like the rest of the Flour locations. I was looking forward to the Pain Suisse, honestly it probably would have been better slightly microwaved but I won't hold that against them. Prices are reasonable and plenty of seating, they will probably want umbrellas when the hot sun comes. In my opinion it's not necessary to put lettuce and tomato on a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich but that is a topic for another day. Will be back for an embrace bun and a hot dog.
Dan C — Google review
There is nothing better than a gorgeous summer morning, beautiful friends to spend time with, and delicious food and drinks to enjoy together! Flour in Boston Common has that in spades! They have a surprisingly full menu for their small park venue! Besides needing a few more sun shades for their metal tables, they don’t need to do anything differently! Coffee? Great! Sticky buns are legendary best sellers for a darn good reason! Overnight oats gave me energy well past lunch time! The avocado toast was reportedly “perfect” and the cinnamon roll was pretty tasty, too! Delicious food leveled up a beautiful morning!

stopped by Flour at Boston Common on Thursday, and what a treat! The weather was delightful, so I took a walk through the Common before my work meeting—and there it was, this gorgeous little shop in the heart of the city! I had the pecan bun—sweet, buttery, and absolutely delicious—and the coffee was divine. The outdoor seating is lovely, with views of the sun, people, and beautiful buildings all around. A perfect Boston moment. Highly recommend!

I decided to go here after the place down the road was super busy. I ordered the Salmon salad bowl, and a donut. The salmon came out cold, and the flavours of the dish tasted unpleasant. It might have just been the blue cheese. But the dish felt depressing. I was hoping the Donut would change things. It was okay. You milage may very but if you go here, don't get the salmon

This was a great find. I did not know they had a location here. So there are special items only found at this location, like the hot dog. In fact, that what I got. It was pretty good for a hot dog. I liked the shoestring fries under the hot dog as an extra treat. It could use some more smaller seating, but I am guessing they are zoned for all they have.

Mike's Pastry is an iconic Italian bakery that has been serving delectable pastries like cannoli and lobster tails since 1946. Located in the North End, it is renowned for its crispy, thick cannoli with a variety of filling options, from traditional Italian flavors to novelty ones like Oreo and peanut butter. Despite the long lines, it remains a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The bakery's signature blue boxes are often seen as a source of pride among visitors.
TLDR: Cannolis are the best I’ve had. Cakes are rich, staff moves fast, and this deserves its reputation. They need to bring this to the West Coast. Review Visiting from Los Angeles, this was one of the best dessert stops of our trip. The pistachio cannoli and chocolate chip cannoli were outstanding, easily the highlight of all the desserts we tried. The rum cake and chocolate cake were also excellent and very rich. This North End shop is cash only, so come prepared. The line was about 20 minutes, but the staff kept it moving. Multiple lines make it easier if you know your order ahead of time. Regulars clearly do, but even as a first-time visitor, the staff was helpful and made good suggestions. We bought two giant cannolis, a third for a friend, and two cake slices. It was too much to finish, but everything was worth it. The cannolis are the star, but the cakes proved just as reliable. If I return to Boston, this will be a guaranteed stop. Pro tips • Bring cash for the main North End location. • Decide on your order before reaching the counter. • Cannolis first, but cakes are also worth it.
GregxPerez — Google review
Awesome little pastry shop down in Boston. I can highly recommend the cannolis as they were delicious. Some things to note however, it was incredibly busy when we went and we spent somewhere around 45 minutes waiting in line. Once you get inside the line branches and there are several cashiers so inside is sort of just a crowd of people. Another important note, Mike's Pastry is CASH ONLY, but this does make the process all lot quicker. Overall though, despite the line the quality of product you are getting is absolutely top notch and if you're looking for some delicious dessert in Boston you should definitely check this place out.
Dom — Google review
Pretty famous for their Cannolis and it didn’t disappoint with respect to that. We tried the most basic one - Ricotta cannoli - and it was probably the second best I’ve had (best so far is Alati in Montreal) till date. Quite fresh and tasty. The crust was quite thin, which is good. Having said that, the Boston Cream Pie was a bit let down. While it was great on the surface, the middle area was frozen and didn’t leave a good taste. Ambiance in the store is something amazing. Very crowded but was being managed in an orderly manner. The cashier in your queue will only entertain one customer at a time, so there is no confusion as to who is waiting to pick up or yet to order. It’s all cash - so make sure you have the cash enough for your order. Definitely to be tried but perhaps don’t buy in to the hype.
Jay M — Google review
Mike's Pastry has it all. Most famous for the cannolis, there are turnovers, pretzels, donuts, and cakes. IMPORTANT: Mike's is cash only. I ordered the Apple Turnover, Chocolate Chip Cannoli, and Peanut Butter Cup. The turnover is fantastic, with a perfect balance of apple and pastry, and was moist and not dry. I wasn't a fan of the cannoli, but to be fair, I don't like cannolis and was hoping this would change my mind. The peanut butter cup was excellent, and well worth it, assuming you have a drink to go with it. It's rich. When you're ready to order, just talk to one of the several ladies behind the counter. There's not an official line, just when someone is free, talk to them. This is a bustling pastry shop, and I would order here again.
Dalton A — Google review
Wow! Mike's Pastry is famous for a reason, and it absolutely lives up to the hype—a well-deserved five stars! My wife and I stopped by and were completely captivated by the selection and the incredible taste of everything we tried. We went with the Chocolate Chip Cannoli, the seasonal Pumpkin Cannoli, and a classic Boston Cream Donut. The cannolis were perfection: the shells were flaky, the filling was rich and creamy, and the flavors were spot-on. The Boston Cream Donut was a beautiful, custard-filled pillow of goodness. Honestly, my wife and I devoured them so quickly we almost didn't get to appreciate how truly good they were! Despite the constant crowd—and I can totally see why this place is always busy—the ladies helping behind the counter were incredibly friendly and efficient. They handled the organized chaos with grace and a smile. If you are in Boston, particularly the North End, you must stop at Mike's. Get ready to indulge, because every bite is heavenly!
Phillip W — Google review
It is a bakery with every Italian American dessert you can think of! It is cash only and only to go. There is no seating available and your to go orders come in a box. My mission was to try the cannoli and since it was fall they had a pumpkin flavored one and it was delish! They only sell it in their regular size and there is a minimum to order their minis. A good stop to get that sugar craving gone!
Mel Z — Google review
Here’s a rare sighting: no line at Mike’s Pastry on a Monday mid-morning. I practically floated through the door, but come the weekend that is not the case. The line is out the door, down the sidewalk and around the corner with tourists, locals, and cannoli devotees alike. I went with the classic cannoli, no chocolate chips, no frills, just pure ricotta glory. The shell was crisp and golden, the filling smooth, lightly sweet, and piled in generously. It’s the kind of treat that makes you pause mid-bite and silently vow to come back for another. Mike’s delivers a dessert that’s worth every minute but I don’t think I would ever stand on a huge line just to have one. You have to do it while in Boston though! Also I did love the presentation in the pretty blue box!

Solid bakery and coffee shop to stop by! Typically seating is hard to grab- small place and full of students doing work- but would recommend grabbing a pastry to-go. The toffee cashew cookie had great flavor, a little underbaked but overall would come back and try another yummy treat!

Oakleaf Cakes created an absolute dream come true masterpiece for the Peter Rabbit themed baby shower I threw this May. I am overdue in writing the rave review that they earned but not due to a lack of appreciation! Bakery
Nestled in the heart of East Boston, Lolly's Bakery is a charming little gem that has been delighting locals with its homemade breads, pastries, and custom cakes for over two decades. This family-owned establishment specializes in authentic Latin American treats, making it a beloved spot for anyone craving sweet bread or decadent desserts. The inviting atmosphere and friendly staff create a warm ambiance that feels like home as soon as you step inside.
They made a birthday cake for my coworker today, a special order, and I just want to take the time to personally thank them for an exemplary job! It came out so well, and they took the time to decorate it exactly how I wanted (and it was kind of under pressure, because I was very illegally parked at the time!) A medium served our entire 14 person office and everyone loved it. Truly delicious and a great job all around! Highly recommend and will be going back for future occasions!

Got my Rosca here, tastes amazing! Probably one of the best ones I’ve gotten so far. I also got some rice pudding. Hope I can go back soon to get flan and tres leches. The prices are very reasonable. Nice bakery with very nice staff.

Lolly’s Bakery: A Morning of Pan Dulce It was 6:30am sharp when the doors of Lolly’s Bakery swung open full of promise. I was there on a mission, as I often am, to gather conchas for the hardworking construction crew I call my second family. But that morning… something magical happened. Within five minutes, twelve souls swept through the door, drawn in like moths to a sweet, warm flame. The smell of freshly baked conchas, soft, fluffy, perfectly sugared wrapped around us all like a lover’s embrace. This wasn’t just breakfast, it was a moment. A ritual and I was just grateful to be part of the scene.

Their Latin style breads are unreal, I have been coming here for years and they do not disappoint. I never have ordered any cakes from them and I regret not having done it earlier. Their cakes are amazing, from tres leches to your regular cakes to flan style was incredible. They decorated it the way we asked for our kids 1st communion. I couldn’t be happier with the way it came out and trust me it was a hit at the party we had 2 and we almost ran out of both. You will not be disappointed we are ordering from them from now on. Thanks Lollys.

Great selection of Mexican, Central American, and South American baked goods. The front staff is not so knowledgeable about the names of the baked goods or where their from but the bakers are. From my two visits there, they only spoke Spanish but there may be someone who speaks English. The baked goods are fresh and you can just grab whatever you want and place it in a bag then pay with cash or cards. They also make cakes, fruit yogurt cups, flan, and tres leches cakes. I placed an order for my daughter's birthday for 48 Churros, 10 Cortadillos, 8 white Conchas, 4 pink Conchas and it came out to about $55. They were punctual with the pick up time and had it all boxed up and ready to go! Will do business with again in the future!

Athan's Bakery is a beloved European-style cafe and bakery located in the serene neighborhood of Brookline, Boston. Originating from Kalamata, Greece, this charming bakery brings a taste of Europe to its patrons. The founder's vision was to recreate the European-style cafe experience in the heart of Boston. Athan's Bakery offers an array of delectable pastries, tarts, baklava, cookies, and gelato made using traditional methods in their European-style kitchen.
The tiramisu is one of the best in Boston + affordable. We also got the lemon + almond cake. Other pastries looks good as well.

i think athan’s is lovely — it’s one of those places you visit because of nostalgia and the need to pacify a craving for some semblance of home. it’s your grandmother’s cookies, it’s the pastries your neighbours bring for every holiday where gift giving is warranted. it’s personal and lovely, and it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. much could be said about upkeep or service but you come to athan’s for the food, and if you’re coming for something else, then you’re fooling yourself.
Mhyles — Google review
Such a lovely place! Warm and friendly, I adore the space and the simple yet charming displays. In a world where everything is being turned into cold, corporate spaces Athan's stands out and invites you sit and be warm and enjoy delicious goods and drinks. Was also pleasantly surprised with the vegan options! You can tell time, and care was put into making them as good as they could be.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere and a go to place for a long study session. The service is wonderful and makes me want to go back every day. The food is quite fresh and the place smells like my childhood. I'm looking foward to coming back here during the school year and getting lots of work done while having a good coffee. Tried a London Fog Tea here for the first time and absolutely loved it!
Natalie — Google review
Super friendly staff, tons of small-group seating, and delicious pastries and treats! If you haven't been, I'd recommend trying the Athan's blend tea along with any of the cake slices. I stop by almost every week and continue to be impressed.

Love love love this cafe! Used to come here almost everyday to work and study. Homeliest, coziest, sweetest little spot with a perfect view of Washington square and the green line. Used to sit by the windows during the snow. Recommend their mango pastry, figo (MUST TRY, BEST THING THEY HAVE) and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.
Faaiza — Google review
Great spot for anyone seeking traditional Mediterranean and European pastries and some of the city's best Baklava. Brookline has a lot of ethnic bakeries and Athan’s is among the local’s favorites. With its classic wooden interior and relatively large seating area, it offers a comforting atmosphere, perfect for a peaceful morning treat. During my recent visit, I was immediately greeted by the attentive staff, who guided me through their variety of Baklava. I got one of each and these bite-sized Baklava pieces were amazing – achieving the ideal balance of density and flakiness, with nutty fillings that were simply sublime. Among these, my favorites were the chocolate walnut and almond varieties. Their cake selection didn't disappoint either. The Napoleon puff pastry was delightful – light, airy, and spongy – while the Amendoa's delicate vanilla sponge and almond flavor was a pleasure. An unexpected highlight was the ham and cheese croissant, served warm from the oven, with enticing cheese crisps at its edges. Overall, a great bakery that serves amazing traditional pastries. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore more of their cake and cookie offerings.

Nestled in the heart of Boston's North End, Parziale's Bakery is a charming family-run establishment that has been delighting locals and visitors alike since 1907. Known for their delectable pizza served by the tray or slice, this bakery also offers an array of classic Italian breads and cookies that are sure to satisfy any craving. While they may not be famous for cannolis, those who venture to try them often find themselves pleasantly surprised.
One of my favorite Bakerys every thing being made fresh daily. Great selection of desserts too choose from. Pizza is great too always different slices by the window. Always fresh breads around when u walk in I try to stop in when ever I'm around.
Jay ( — Google review
Of all the bakeries in the North End, this place is truly underrated and hidden gem. It gives the classic old school Italian vibe, and the staffs are super nice. Most importantly, the cannoli is freshly filled - you can feel the cold milky cream in the crunchy shell. Highly recommend!

Another North End Food Tour stop with Bobby that was so good! The pizza is excellent! We didn't try a calzone, but heard that they were fabulous! The pastries are delicious and the staff is so kind!
CaraSue H — Google review
Their cannolis are freshly made while you wait and probably some of the best I’ve had in Boston. The almond cookies are amazing as well. The place looks unassuming but it’s excellent and great way to avoid the tourists.
Timothy T — Google review
This was, in fact, the best cannoli I’ve ever had. I’m no expert but the cannolis were filled to order and the filling was so light and not overly sweet and tasted so fresh. I’d wave to the crowd at Mike’s and walk a block and a half to Parziale’s instead.
Lauren L — Google review
This bakery was on my list to try in the North End and it was delish! They have a variety of Italian baked goods, cookies and pizza. I got the sfogliatelle and it was flavorful. That orange ricotta filling was delish!
Mel Z — Google review
We stopped into this gem while walking around the North End. There were lines out the door at Mike's and Bova. But not here. We definitely were the beneficiaries of this!! We walked in and it felt like a traditional, old-time bakery. The people working there were really nice, friendly and professional too! We ordered some cookies and decided to try their filled to order cannoli. The cannoli was GREAT! I'd definitely recommend skipping the lines at the touristy places to try Parziale's cannoli! I'm going to be heading back to try their sfogliatelle next time! Plus love how they have the pizza in the window! So old school!

Nestled in the heart of Brookline, Japonaise Bakery & Cafe is a delightful gem that has been enchanting locals since 1985. This charming spot beautifully blends Eastern and Western flavors, offering an array of classic and innovative baked goods. Founded by Hiroko Sakan, a determined single mother with no prior culinary experience, this bakery paved the way for Japanese-inspired treats in Boston.
A must stop if you are looking for good pastry and coffee. The selection is wider than that tho, with anything from cream filled pastry to savory nigiri! its a quite, cozy place with good service. Their cold brew with cream has a nice chocolaty note 🫶 (personally the matcha flavored pastry was not that flavorful, but that’s personal)
Risha A — Google review
Wonderful little Asian bakery! I popped by Japonaise Bakery & Cafe to grab a few baked goodies for my friends and I, and we were all thoroughly impressed by everything here -- the classics (e.g., red bean bun, melon bun) were all delicious, but it was also really fun to try out a few of their specialty items (e.g., strawberry cream bun, black sesame melon bun). Every item featured soft, pillowy bread, and a generous serving of the filling. The filling was always the perfect level of sweetness (i.e., not overly sweet), although the strawberry cream bun did feel a bit more decadent / sweet compared to the other items. I also appreciated the staff's attention to detail and commitment to quality; their red bean buns were slightly overbaked, so they offered me those pastries for free. There isn't any seating available inside, but the shop is still quite cute, and there's a small covered patio a few blocks away that you can sit at.
Sonya H — Google review
I couldn’t recommend coming here more. I’ve been to this bakery a few times and their pastries are beautiful, fun, delicious and take me back to Japan. I couldn’t decide which filling I wanted and commented about how I love them all! That’s when an employee in the bakery kindly offered me a new bakery item to try (item in first picture). I was so surprised at the kind gesture that I felt inspired to write a review.

The pastries and food from this cafe are absolutely amazing, not only are they super tasty, they are also incredibly cute! One of my favorite items they have is a Totoro cream pastry that can have a number of different types of filling. Personally, I got the chocolate one and loved it! They also have a discount pastry section for day old pastries which are still super tasty. Their onigiri are also very good, I highly recommend the spicy tuna flavor.
Alec M — Google review
I absolutely love the place. Although I don't come as often as I'd like. The staff is friendly and polite and will answer all your questions with a smile and ive never not seens the owner there. Everything is good here. Even the stuff I haven't tried whish at this point are the sandos. They even have a day old section where good have been discounted. I highly recommend the curry pan, raspberry cheese Danish, and any flavor totoro pan. They come in 5 flavors. Cream, chocolate, match, yuzu, and I forget the last. As good if not better than the patisseries i went to in Japan. Do yourself a favor and stop in the next time you're in town. You won't regret it.

Bao Bao Bakery & Cafe is a cozy spot in the heart of Boston's Chinatown, offering a diverse selection of Chinese buns, sandwiches, egg tarts, and pastries. Known for its Asian fusion baked goods, this bakery is popular for its custom cakes, creative pastries, and bubble tea. Customers rave about the pineapple and red bean buns, matcha roll cakes, and eclairs.
Amazing Chinese pastry. So good. Got a curry beef bun and matcha fluff. Not too sweet, savoury curry and matcha bitterness, all tastes just on spot in both buns. That add 50C on a payment with card under 10$, but okay, some other bakeries don’t let you even let you pay under 10. Recommendation!

Finally got to cross off a long-standing bucket list item: crepe cake—and I’m so glad I did it here. I tried the ube flavor, and it was everything I hoped it would be. Beautiful layers of delicate crepes with just the right amount of cream in between, and that earthy-sweet ube flavor that’s both unique and comforting. It’s a dessert that feels light, but still delivers that luxurious, melt-in-your-mouth richness. Just a heads-up for first-timers: the crepe cakes are sold frozen, so you need to give them time to thaw. It’s worth the wait. Once it’s ready, the texture and flavor really shine through. Bao Bao Bakery has a huge menu—everything from buns and pastries to bubble tea and savory snacks. But for me, the crepe cake was the standout. It’s not something you find often, and they do a great job with it. If you’ve never tried crepe cake before, or if ube is one of your go-to flavors, this is definitely worth checking out. Sweet, elegant, and a little different from your typical bakery desserts. I’ll definitely be back to try more flavors next time.

**Review: Bao Bao Bakery in Chinatown, Boston** I recently visited Bao Bao Bakery in Chinatown, Boston, and had a mixed but ultimately positive experience. While the staff wasn't particularly great, the quality of the bubble teas more than made up for it. We tried a few different flavors, and each one was really good and reasonably priced. In addition to the bubble teas, we enjoyed some delicious pastries. The variety and taste were impressive, making it a spot worth returning to. The bakery also has a nice sitting area inside, which made our visit comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, despite the service, the tasty treats and beverages at Bao Bao Bakery make it a place I'll definitely visit again.

I ordered some buns off uber eats and these were the most disappointing buns i have ever eaten. I grew up eating chinese bakery pastries so i know what to expect. The pork bun was filled with 98% air and 2% meat. Never in my life have I been skimped out this bad to the point it made me mad.
Ashley C — Google review
I bought some mini mooncakes here for the mid-autumn festival. They had a lot of options. I got lotus paste, red bean, and green tea. Overall, the mooncakes were fine. Nothing super amazing but they hit the spot. I really liked the green tea one. It had a lot of flavor. I also had lychee green tea boba because of a coupon I received from an event a while back. It was good. Nothing amazing, just lychee boba. I might come back to try their other pastries just to see what the hype is all about.

Exceptional bakery with the best coffee in Boston! I had an amazing experience at this bakery during my visit to Boston. The coffee here is absolutely the best I’ve had in the city - rich, perfectly brewed, and expertly crafted. The bakery offers fresh, delicious pastries that are made right before your eyes thanks to their open kitchen concept. It’s wonderful to watch the bakers at work and see everything being prepared fresh throughout the day. The transparency really shows their commitment to quality. Beyond the excellent pastries, they also serve great salads and sandwiches. I highly recommend the egg salad sandwich - it was perfectly seasoned and fresh. But whatever you do, don’t miss the spinach börek! It’s absolutely outstanding and a must-try. The staff deserves special mention for their friendly and attentive service. Everyone was helpful and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Whether you’re looking for your morning coffee, a quick lunch, or fresh pastries, this place delivers on all fronts. Bakey was incredible! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it easy to have a conversation and enjoy your time there. We had a Latte and an Americano—both were excellent and did not disappoint. For food, we tried the Chocolate Babka (highly recommend it!), the Cheese Stick (small but delicious), the Goat Cheese Croissant (light with great flavor), and the Salmon Bagel Sandwich—a must-have! The bagel was perfectly light and not overly chewy like most others. Overall, an amazing experience. Can’t wait to go back!

Iggy's Bread is a renowned bakeshop known for its all-natural, European-style loaves, bagels, cookies, and more. The married couple behind this establishment follows an Old World approach to bread-making, with a two-day ritual from start to finish. Despite the traditional process, Iggy's has managed to meet high demand from big restaurants across Boston and Whole Foods.
We’ve been frequenting this bakery since we were kids, and every year it somehow gets better and better! The croissants are exceptional, the service is fast, and the bread is outstanding! So much variety with the croissants: ham and cheese, feta and spinach, regular, chocolate, etc! They also have pizza and amazing bagels. Definitely the best bakery in MA🫶🏼
Rose A — Google review
Discovering Iggy's Bread was a delightful surprise. Initially familiar with their baguettes from grocery stores, I recently took a visit to their store, which doubled as a manufacturing facility. The space was charming and inviting, with everything priced quite reasonably. I got a few of their sandwiches and pastries. Both the salmon bagel sandwich and the ham & egg sandwich were enjoyable. Their buns and bagels leaned more towards chewy side, but I liked them nonetheless. The pastries, however, were much better than I expected. Each one boasted a perfect level of flakiness and crispness, with the pecan sticky bun being my favorite. Unlike the typical sticky buns I've tasted around the city, this one had a unique, croissant-like base that made it exceptionally memorable.

The Cheese Pizza ($4) was a good price for the size. The crust was very crunchy, and the sauce wasn’t anything special but hit the spot (hard to go wrong with pizza). The workers were a bit unwelcoming/curt, though.

All of the employees were friendly and helpful, and there was a large selection to choose from. I got a croissant with spinach and feta, a cranberry scone, and a coffee. Everything was delicious. Caffe Vittoria is a renowned Italian cafe located in Boston's North End, offering a traditional and vintage experience. Established in 1929, it holds the distinction of being the city's first Italian cafe. The cafe boasts four floors, three bars, and an array of coffee options including espresso and cappuccino. Its vintage decor with marble floors and a collection of antique espresso machines adds to its historic charm.
We’ve visited several times—summer, spring, fall, and winter—and it’s always a great experience. The cappuccino and tiramisu are top-notch, and the views from the windows are perfect for people-watching. It’s especially magical during Christmas—feels like a movie scene. Just a heads-up: it’s cash only, so come prepared!

CASH ONLY! My favorite cafe in Little Italy / North End area. Incredibly chill, beautiful amber lighting inside to set the vibe. Great to chat and catch up with some friends, 1-4 people is best imo. Portions are pretty big. Staff is soooo kind and attentive. When busy there’s an hour limit on seats! Desserts wise cheesecake is awesome. The other biscotti are better than the anise biscotti. Eclair was huge

Café Vittoria in North Boston exudes vintage Italian charm with its rustic wood interiors. I ordered the Cioccolato Caldo, a luxuriously thick hot chocolate topped with whipped cream—it was rich and comforting. The Choco Mousse Cake and Tiramisu were both excellent; the mousse was light and decadent, while the tiramisu struck the perfect espresso-mascarpone balance. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and portion sizes. A quick tip: they only take cash, so plan ahead. Overall, Café Vittoria is a North End gem—a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Italian desserts in a warm, old-world setting.

The food was delicious. I got a fruit tart and my friend got the chocolate mousse cake and it was very good. Staff was nice and we found a table, the place has a nice atmosphere. It has a terrible women’s bathroom. Incredibly uncomfortable experience and the toilet was flooded.

Nice place, right next to Mike’s pastry. Cash only. I ordered a Cappuccino to go. The coffee was good. The staff was nice. Definitely to be tried once again.

Lovely coffee shop. Cappuccinos were awesome as was the lobster tail pastry (sfogliatella w cream filling). A must stop for breakfast or a little break in the walking.

South End Buttery is a charming bakery and cafe located in the neighborhood, offering a variety of baked goods, sandwiches, and high-end groceries such as olive oil. Established in 2005 to address the lack of quality food and coffee options in the area, this cozy spot has become a beloved fixture in the South End. Known for its specialty coffees, teas, house-made biscuit breakfast sandwiches, cupcakes, and homemade pastries, it's a popular choice for locals and visitors alike.
I highly recommend South End Buttery in Boston. I love the food, the atmosphere, the people there. Went there yesterday, found every dish was so special, creative, full of flavours. The terrace in the sunshine has a very European feel, and also enjoyed the bar afterwards. Such a welcoming place, can’t wait to go again.

There are places you visit by chance, and others you feel you were meant to find. South End Buttery belongs to the latter. From the moment I walked in, I knew this wasn’t just a place to have breakfast. I ordered the eggs Benedict, which were perfectly made, and a cup of coffee with a balanced, comforting flavor… but more than the taste, it felt affectionate. Why “affectionate”? Because that’s exactly how I felt from the very beginning: welcomed, cared for, at home. Three people truly shaped my experience: Valentina, who kindly welcomed and guided me to my seat; Vanessa, my lovely and attentive server; and the manager, whom I briefly met but immediately recognized as the heart behind the outstanding team. It’s not about who was kinder—it’s clear that someone here knows how to choose exceptional people. The place itself is beautiful—classic, well-kept, with a radiant energy. I didn’t just feed my body; I fed my soul. I left feeling grateful, uplifted, and inspired. I’m happy to be in Boston, but this place… I will return. Rarely have I left a spot with such a strong desire to come back.

A beautiful street bistro in the heart of the South End. The cafe is so picturesque and the food is excellent. Our waiter was very helpful and more about him later. Only reason for 4⭐️on service was due to the hostess, not our waiter, Ivan. We tried to understand what the seating policy was but couldn’t get a solid answer from the hostess. We asked how long would it take to be seated and she said an hour and if we could be added to the list. She said there is no wait list?!? So should we try to reserve online? She said they’re full but we saw some spots open for inside. There were 3 of us who attempted individually to get a coherent answer but failed. So we just waited outside and Ivan, our waiter asked how many and if we could sit outside, which we did.

such good food and atmosphere. the brussel sprouts and truffle fries were amazing. ask for all the sauces with it they were so good. they had such fun drinks and the espresso martini was one of the best in Boston

I’ve been coming here for about 3 years and can confidently say that it’s gone downhill. Food has always been good but the service is lacking. I was there this past Saturday for breakfast and my order arrived incorrect. I sat at the table right by the bar and even with 5+ employees close by, it was still hard to get their attention. I ordered the torta with sausage and it didn’t originally come with it. When I finally talked to our server, he was able to bring out a side of sausage fairly quickly. I’d noticed a small hair on the plate and it took a while for us to be checked on so I could get a replacement. When I talked to the server to let him know, he was pretty dismissive and I decided that I didn’t need the side of sausage since I could tell they were just going to change the plate then provide me with a new order. The servers and hostesses by the door were very chatty with each other and I saw a lot of PDA. It reminded me of high school. The South End Buttery was one of my favorite breakfast/brunch places in Boston but I unfortunately will not be returning.

We had a great brunch on Sunday at south end buttery. I got the huevos rancheros and my husband got the burger. I got an iced matcha latte which was great! For entrees I was between the eggs Benedict and the huevos rancheros. The server recommended both. Food was good but not phenomenal. It was yummy but not very noteworthy or really memorable. I’m not sure why. I don’t have specific feedback but it just wasn’t mind blowing for a 5 star review.
Hadeel A — Google review
Went with a friend for breakfast on Sunday, they asked if I had a reservation, but luckily we went early enough to be seated. We got the union square breakfast and the torta rancheros & both were very clean, simple, fresh. What really stood out was the atmosphere and the interior, the ambience was definitely giving traditional Boston. Can’t believe I stumbled on this gem.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Third St is a charming spot in Cambridge that has garnered attention from various media outlets and even made it to BuzzFeed's list of 25 bakeries to visit worldwide. Founded by self-taught chef Tzurit Or, this cozy bakery started as a booth at local farmers' markets before growing into a beloved establishment just outside of Boston. The cafe offers a delightful array of breakfast items, soups, sandwiches, and delectable baked goods.
WORTH the hype! While researching nice places to go eat in Boston prior to coming here, pretty much everyone mentioned Tatte and I definitely understand why. We ended up having breakfast here every day of our trip because of the various options they offer and tried some sandwiches for dinner once that were very good as well. The first thing you see when coming in is their pastries assortment, which is mouth-watering. We couldn’t try everything, but what we tried was GREAT (something similar to a cinnamon roll and a crumbles cheesecake). Coffee was great. Service was great. Honestly wish I had more time to try everything on the menu, it’s clear that they put effort on their dishes being tasty with high-quality ingredients and great combinations.

This was our first stop while visiting Boston for work, and it certainly wasn't our last! I ordered a matcha with a goat cheese scrambled eggs for breakfast. Our service was fast, and the food was excellent. I love how the decor is different in every location that you visit!

Ran a quick google search to find the top most favorite item on the menu and its none other than their Lamb Meatball and Labneh Shakshuka. Comes with 3 bread and is very fulfilling. Try it out, you’ll be a fan I guarantee.

The new iced tea coolers aren’t great, unless you're specifically looking for overly sweet, pre-made tea that leaves you feeling uneasy in the chest. Probably my worst experience at Tatte, even worse than the time I was served oat milk instead of whole milk, which was an honest mistake on both sides. Usually, Tatte is good, but this one really missed the mark. — Date: July 5th Tatte, why the hate? 🥲 I genuinely love the taste, but let’s be real, it’s spinach corn soup with poached eggs, not shakshuka.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe is a well-known chain in the Boston area, offering a variety of delectable cakes, tarts, pastries, and gourmet coffee. Founded by Israeli baker Tzurit Or, it features Israeli specialties like shakshuka and spicy lamb kebabs alongside its baked goods. The cafe has grown from a home kitchen to multiple locations across the city.
The Tatte in Fenway has a cute, warm interior and a convenient location. It gets very busy, so be prepared to wait for a table, but it's worth it. I loved the lentil soup and the apple crumble cake. It's a great spot for a quick bite or for getting some work or studying done.

Very quick service, best place to grab a quick bite thats always consistent! The chicken veg soup is pretty good, a little lacking in flavor, and their pastries are always consistently great! Definitely my preferred cafe chain around Boston, but be prepared to fight for a seat for most times of the day!

Nice place to use free internet with yummy sweets and drinks. Free cold water was available. But Fresh juice was in bottle. Not freshly squeezed daily I think. It was difficult to find tables. Table was dirty with bread crumbs and I ask them to clean. No one cleaned. So I had to clean myself. Coffee was good cinnamon bread was yummy.

I get to go orders mostly. Coffee and breakfast sandwiches are good. Sandwiches are filling. One time I asked for no tomato on the sandwich because of a allergy. Once I picked up the order and got home. There was tomato on the sandwich. Had to throw it away! Now I don't order food from here just drinks if anything.

Union Square Donuts is a renowned donut shop that offers a variety of unique sweet and savory flavors, along with pastries and coffee in a modern setting. Their award-winning donuts are made daily from scratch using a light and fluffy brioche dough, ensuring they are crowd-pleasers. From sweet options like brown butter hazelnut crunch to sumptuous choices like Belgian dark chocolate, there's something for every palate.
We used Union Square Donuts catering as a dessert option for our wedding in Cambridge, and they were tremendous. We had a donut wall to go alongside our wedding cake and it was a big hit with our guests. They provided us with a tasting box months prior to the event so we were able to choose the flavors we wanted for the wedding, including a vegan option for certain guests. We would highly recommend hiring Union Square Donuts to add a special touch to any private event!
Aaron E — Google review
The donuts here appear amazing (10/10 on looks), however the flavors just aren't there. A filled donut that was supposed to be vanilla tasted like cream with no actual vanilla flavor. Red velvet tasted dense like a cake but with no actual flavor to it. Coffee donut was good overall but tasted like a maple donut from Dunkin - it didn't actually taste like coffee at all (which I had been excited about the most). Only one that had flavor worth it's price tag was coconut which was flaky dough and flavorful. If this store put nearly as much effort into the taste as they do the presentation, these would be incredible. cross-posted on yelp.

This is a review of their drip coffee only. It was way too strong and bitter, like they used an Italian roast with a wrong measurement of beans to make the brew. The donuts looked great but I didn’t indulge. So if you like drip or pour over coffee, Bloc across the street is a better option IMO.

May 2024: The donuts were really good overall, but my favorite was the maple-flavored one. However, the French toast was just alright; it was quite thick and dry inside. Nonetheless, the maple one really hit the spot. The texture was perfectly moistened with the right amount of glaze and had many profiles of sweetness. Take two May 2024: 8.2/10 hazelnut donut 7.5 oreo donut Take 3 June 2024: Its still a banger!

we order donuts here at least once a month. it’s become a family ritual or tradition especially on the weekends. it’s nice because they have vegan options and the donuts are really yummy. it’s tricky to find yummy vegan donuts and they make it feel easy. especially when they have so many flavors and they’re always coming out with new ones. they also have coffee and different beverage options. i went inside for the first time and it’s super cute , clean and spacious. there’s a bathroom . they also have high chairs for the babies. which is super convenient. the employees are really kind. they’re pretty good at holding your order until the end of the day. you can also order delivery online and it won’t break the bank.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience Union Square Assembly shop today. I felt completely mistreated, ignored, and even discriminated against by staff. When I approached the counter to order doughnuts, the staff member ignored my presence, said nothing to me, and allowed customers behind me to be served first without any explanation. The doughnuts are behind glass, so I could not serve myself it is the staff’s role to assist me. Yet instead of acknowledging or helping me, I was treated as if I wasn’t even there. When I spoke up about being skipped, instead of apologizing or explaining, the staff became upset with me for asserting my right as a paying customer to be served fairly. On top of this, staff tried to shame me for not opening the door for another customer who was exiting the establishment. It is not my role or responsibility as a customer to do staff duties such as opening doors—it is staff’s responsibility to provide customer service. What is most concerning is that when I calmly expressed these issues, two staff members (Michael and his co-worker) threatened to call the police on me. This was not only unnecessary but also felt like an intimidation tactic meant to silence me, which left me deeply uncomfortable. No customer should ever be ignored, skipped, shamed, or threatened simply for expecting basic respect and fair service. I hope management takes this matter seriously and trains staff to treat all customers equally, with dignity and professionalism.

Hi-Rise Bread Company is a cozy, family-owned bakery in Cambridge that offers a delightful array of homemade breads, pastries, and sandwiches. Founded by baker Rene Becker, this sun-lit counter-serve bakery boasts excellent pastries, lunch options, and a full coffee bar. The tarts are made with local fruits and many treats use extra-rich European butter.
A West Cambridge Cafe with an artisanal charm. Took a visit this morning to grab some breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by the indulgent smell of a freshly baked bread as they had a dedicated section for baking fresh bread. Alongside a curated selection of wine and whiskey, they also had a corner showcasing an array of house-made preserves and granola, which collectively contributed to its rustic yet refined local marketplace vibe. Since there were a lot of negative reviews regarding their food, we initially didn’t have high expectations for their food. Admittedly, being the first customer of the day, the twenty-minute wait for two simple breakfast sandwiches seemed a tad lengthy. The oat milk latte was also a bit too mild for my taste, yet the pastries and the sandwiches more than made up for it. Both the Hungry Pickle and Luke Rocks the Free World sandwiches boasted perfectly crispy buns that added a satisfying crunch to each bite. Even the simpler Brekkie Supreme sandwich, which didn't appear freshly made, was surprisingly good. From the pastries, we had the Orange Coconut and Maple Pecan Scones, and both were nice treats – moist, buttery, and exquisitely crafted to my preferred taste. My experience at Hi Rise certainly exceeded my initial expectations. If you’re looking for satisfying breakfast sandwiches and pastries, I recommend giving them a try. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait for the sandwiches, but rest assured, these are well worth the patience.

I used to frequent Hi Rise when it was on Mass Ave pre-pandemic. I loved the Thai iced tea and blueberry scone. 5+ years later, I finally made my way over to the Huron village location, and I'll definitely be back soon! The Thai iced tea was just as I remembered -- very aromatic and perfectly sweet. I'd come back just for this unique and delicious drink. Unfortunately they didn't have the blueberry scone (I wasn't expecting it, since it said it was sold out on the website). We tried the small chocolate fallen cake ($10) which I thought was a bit too sweet. We also got the ham, butter, and Swiss lunchie ($8), which is a very thin and long sandwich. It was delicious! The bread has a slight crisp on the outside, and is wonderfully chewy. The filling to bread ratio is pretty great. I'd get this again -- very satisfying. There are also a lot of fruit preserves and packaged cookies that look really good and would make good gifts. I'll be back!

I’ve been to this local café a few times and really liked it. The prices are a bit high, but I visited because of its location. Recently, I saw mice in the café—not just one, but three. It felt like their playground. I couldn’t enjoy my coffee and felt very uncomfortable. Even in Boston, where mice are common, this was the worst I’ve seen. The staff knows about the problem but isn’t doing anything. I don’t think I’ll visit again for a while. I hope they fix this soon.

Hi Rise - more like High Price. This is a sandwich/salad cafe that charges absurdly high prices and offers small portions. $6 to add chicken on a salad and THIS is what you add, two small diced up tenders? Guys - the world’s gotten expensive, and it’s okay to increase prices to some extent. But you can’t also shrink your product at the same time. That’s called greed.

Forge Baking Co & Ice Cream Bar is a charming bakery and cafe located in a former warehouse in Somerville, MA. The bakery's menu features sweet potato brioche, avocado toast, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and maple oat scones that perfectly complement the beverages.
Absolutely great spot for breakfast or snacks or bakery fare. Pricing matches quality and yes that’s going to affect things a bit, but you’re going to get a better experience here overall than most similar spots in the area. Staff are on the ball and attentive, but it’ll take a few mins to make fresh food for you. The baked goods may even surpass the fresh food options. So come here for bread or pastries and you will find a 5/5 experience for sure. Can’t attest to the ice cream yet but likely also holding a similar standard. Plenty of tables in their industrial chic space for those wanting to dine in, but they have a good balance of to-go traffic too. Will definitely be returning frequently. Odd graphic design / signage complaint: the “rusted for aesthetic” sign out front is really hard to see against the black backdrop of the building’s front wall. I genuinely didn’t understand I was looking straight at the entrance until I went closer. Very odd. Would suggest a larger more readable sign in a brighter color so it’s easier to see from the street.

Grabbed a bagel and croissant to go but the space is beautiful and would be great for a group meal or for some work. The croissant was buttery and had a super clean flavour. The bagel was also tasty. Maybe sourdough? If not then just well fermented. Both were a little too dense and bready but still great.

Came here based upon a recommendation and was pretty disappointed. Crazy high prices - our toasted bagel with cream cheese was just under $6!! The jalapeno bagel was tasty, light, fluffy, but small given the price. Atmosphere was okay - typical urban industrial look, but nothing special. Service was friendly. Geared to take money from young urban professionals.

This establishment is an excellent choice for breakfast, snacks, or baked goods. The pricing reflects the quality, and while this may have some impact, you can expect a superior experience here compared to most comparable establishments in the vicinity. The staff are attentive and proactive; however, please allow a few minutes for the preparation of fresh food. The baked goods could potentially exceed the quality of the fresh food options. Visit us for exceptional bread and pastries, and you can expect a top-tier experience. I cannot confirm the quality of the ice cream at this time, but it is likely to meet a comparable standard.

Best PSL I've ever had. Not too sweet, great flavor. Will drive out of my way to get this again. Good breakfast sandwiches but the tempeh bacon tasted like nothing more than sliced tempeh. I thought it would have been flavored and/or roasted in some way to make it crispy and more exciting. Still 5 stars though bc of that latte!

Can’t say enough good things about Forge. Their sourdough bagels are hands down the best in the state, and beyond, and the service is always patient and kind. Can’t comment on food because we left after being treated poorly. We are from out of town and had read some good reviews. Went there and got in line. They have a little side shop where the barn door was partially opened. We were looking (not going) in because we were curious. An employee came over and rudely said “this is not open to customers” and slammed the sliding door in my husband’s face. My family quickly turned around and walked a few more blocks to the Starbucks where the customer service was amazing!

Colette Bakery is a French-style bakery with locations in Medford, Massachusetts and Boston's South End neighborhood. The bakery offers a variety of traditional French pastries, including croissants, macarons, cakes, tarts, and quiche. It's a great spot to grab a quick breakfast in Boston and experience authentic French flavors. Customers can enjoy housemade breads and pastries while feeling like they've been transported to France.
I've been wanting to try Colette for a while! We went on a weekday so we were able to get a seat. The croissants were amazing! We got the pain au chocolat and the ham and cheese croissant heated up, and they were exquisite. The drinks were also tasty and reasonably priced. We tried a couple of other pastries but the highlight was the croissants. I'd definitely come back for the croissants!

Luv luv luv!!! Fantastic neighborhood café!!!! The hazelnut chocolate entremets were absolutely divine... I can’t stop thinking about them. The tarte citron was perfect, with a balanced blend of sweetness and tanginess, and the crisp pastry was spot on. The café au lait was delicious, rich, and creamy. The coffee éclairs were decent but could use a stronger coffee flavor. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend and will definitely return! :))) Returned to try the pecan tart and croissants this week. The pecan tart had a nut butter filling that was so savory and delicious, croissants perfectly buttery and crisp. What can I say... Collette bakery never disappoints~!

You can’t go wrong with Collette Bakery. Nothing like being able to pick up some freshly baked bread from a small local business. The Viennois is my absolute favorite. Quaint neighborhood bakery! They had a pretty long line when I got there, but it moved fast. They have a variety of treats from loaves of bread to croissants to tarts. I got this pecan chocolate bread which tasted like it had Nutella inside! I’m not the biggest fan of that type of bread (versus the croissant bread), but it was still quite flaky and fun. It could have been a smidge warmer, though.

We’ve been coming to this bakery for over two years now, and it has never disappointed! Their pastries and cakes are absolutely incredible — everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The croissants are next-level: perfectly flaky, buttery, and truly some of the best we’ve ever had. The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has such a warm, cozy vibe that it’s a joy to visit every time. The only downside? They’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays — and somehow those are exactly the days when we crave their treats the most

Lovely little bakery! Solid pain au chocolats, good airy layers in the bite, soft and yummy, but not a crispy crackly outer layer (maybe they were when they first came out of oven?). Kouign amann has good flavour but also was more dense in texture than I’d hoped. Chouquettes (pictured) are out of this world! Perfectly sweet with a hint of saltiness, egg-iness. Bought more to go after eating in store. Staff at the bakery are friendly and cheery. They do serve drinks, coffee and more, but my impression is that it’s more about the pastries and baked goods and less about the drinks here. Definitely would return! Will be dreaming about the chouquettes.
Meagan — Google review
I walked in expecting a bakery and I left believing I’d discovered a secret French outpost where butter lives unhindered and carbs wear tiny berets. The croissant cracked under my first bite like it was confessing its flakiness. The line was moving briskly and the aroma could have its own Instagram account. The only problem: I wanted to order everything in sight, but my stomach has limits. Tips: - Get there early: the best stuff seems to vanish fast. - The tarts were balanced with a blend of sweetness and tanginess. - It’s not bargain-basement, but you’re paying for butter-rich deliciousness, French style. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys pastries, butter, flaky textures, or simply wants to feel like they took a mini trip to Paris without a passport.

Bakery
Verveine Cafe & Bakery is a charming spot with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the menu offers a variety of gluten-free options, including superb cinnamon rolls and excellent sandwiches. The bread is particularly noteworthy, even for those who don't typically seek out gluten-free options. The cafe also serves delicious drinks like butterfly pea flower lemonade and black sesame lattes. It's a must-visit for those looking for creative and tasty dishes in a welcoming setting.
It was a pretty sweet cafe. While seeing the uncooked dough right next to you might whet your appetite, sandwiches are only available on the lunch menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try sandwiches because we went early. The scone and bread with pesto were quite delicious. The coffee was generally good too.

Chaotic and a bit pricey but worth it for the delicious food! I visited a few months ago, and the line to order was wrapped around the store. Seating is limited, so be prepared to either wait or order takeout. In fact, my friends and I were seated at one of the long tables, and another customer who'd just joined the back of the line asked us if her group could take our seats after they ordered, even though we were clearly not yet finished with our food! I was admittedly taken aback. Of course this isn't any fault of the staff, more of a testament of how crowded it gets here and how you have to either come early or be patient. The staff were also weaving in and out of the crowd to reach the fridges/storage along the walls, which contributed to the chaotic atmosphere; if they could find space to move those to back of house/out of the dining area, that would definitely make it feel less crowded and cramped. One of our dishes took longer to arrive than the others, but the staff were very apologetic about it, and overall service was very friendly despite the rush. The pastries and drinks are DELICIOUS! I honestly couldn't tell that any of the pastries were gluten-free. My gripe with most ube foods is that the ube flavor isn't strong enough, but I could taste the ube in both the brownie (super dense and fudgy) and the ube-matcha latte (strong matcha flavor too!). The bibingka had a nice glutinous, chewy texture and sweet (but not too sweet!) coconut flavor. MASARAP!

Verveine is a gem for celiac and gluten free eaters! The food is decadent and delicious. The options are unique compared to the usual gluten free fare, however, not so unique that there are too many competing flavors or would be out of the scope of what I would be looking for. The portion size is good and doesn’t feel like the typical smaller gluten free portion. Beyond the food the service is spectacular! I order delivery as my hotel was on the other side of the Charles and they ran out of stock in one of the items I ordered and without any questions they refunded that item and gave me something else similar at no cost. A+ service and you have my gratitude. Oh and I mentioned that even though it’s a chilly November morning all my items arrived warm?! I hope I have another work trip or other reason to return to Boston so I can come back here again!
Amy K — Google review
Worth the hype! Food is excellent and great service too! I’m no celiac and everything tasted, dare I say, better than most of the pastries I’ve had in other local bakeries. The Chilli Jam and Egg Buscuit was amazing, so was the Banana Bread!

I’m a frequent diner at Verveine as it’s obviously the best place (gf or not) in all of Boston. I came here today on a Sunday, the line was looooong (45 minutes long) and the place was the most packed I’ve ever seen it! When our food came out, we were missing a sandwich. I ordered 2 of the same sandwich but they must have only heard 1. Anyway, someone came our table to explain the situation and have us order a new one, apologized, and said they would rush the order. she then gave us a free cookie for the trouble (unnecessary as it really was NO trouble but very much accepted and appreciated). SO nice and sweet when they were SLAMMED. Food was amazing per usual, then someone next to us knocked over our coffee while they were getting up. A woman (she has dark hair and every time I’m here I see her working so hard on the floor) immediately came over, insisted on cleaning it up, and insisted we get a new coffee. She was so so so sweet, kind, and helpful. This is all to say, yes the food is bomb obviously, but the customer service was amazingly fabulous during an especially busy time. I was very impressed and happy and big shoutout to the woman who is always working hard on the floor, sorry I don’t know her name. :) (photo of my chicken bacon ranch pita)

This cafe is 100% gluten free and I definitely did not believe my eyes! Adorable French style patisseries, brioches, baguettes, cinnamon rolls, scones… the list of their delicacies goes on. Each one looks and tastes more appealing than the last. My friend got their rice congee for breakfast and I chose a hot honey biscuit, caramel cinnamon roll, and a scallion and cheese scone and I couldn’t believe how stretchy and flakey their gluten free goodies were. 1000/10 I will be returning to Boston again for the sole purpose of coming back here!!

Delicious food, sat out on a warm fall morning! We stopped in for breakfast Wednesday morning. Chai was the perfect temperature! I got the spicy jam biscuit sandwich - the biscuit must have been gluten free, but it tasted super regular. The congee is also really good. The ube brownie was delicious, and the corn cookie was good to me, but my friend really didn’t like it.

We had heard about this place on TV. It is a gluten free bakery although there is not much signage about it. We enjoyed a few pastries to share and a pesto baguette. It’s a very nice cafe with tasty food!

Tucked away in the basement of Chinatown, May's Cake House is a charming Chinese bakery that specializes in crafting traditional pastries and cakes. The cozy shop offers an array of freshly baked bread, pastries, and delightful cakes suitable for any celebration. Customers can expect a modest space with glass display cases showcasing their delectable treats. One patron raved about their experience ordering a mango mousse cake for a birthday, emphasizing the minimal sweetness and absence of frosting on the outside.
We got the mango mousse cake for a birthday. It came in a big box tied off with ribbon and two little candles taped to the box. We opted for no writing on the cake because we prefer the fruit top. It should be pretty obvious to the birthday person whose cake it is anyways. I liked that the cake was barely sweet, there was no frosting on the outside! Just thinly sliced fresh mango. The combo of the mango and the slightly sweet cake is the right amount of dessert for me. The cake is slightly denser than Western cake— same texture as angel food cake but not nearly as sweet. The 9-inch cake was more than sufficient for 8 people. Highly recommend; it’s beautiful, tasty and unique.

We got our wedding cake here because this place means a lot to me growing with this bakery near my house. So of course my wedding cake would be from Mays. This cake was not just beautiful, it was so delicious. I am so happy I got my wedding cake here. 10/10

Best cake around! As close to Eldo’s (that closed) as possible. Worth the drive. I took the cake up to Maine for a celebration and the party loved it!
Diana P — Google review
Friendly staff and quick service. I’ve been going here for the past 3-4 years and they have never failed me. They were able to make my order the day after I called in. My go-to for ordering birthday cakes are the Durian 1/2 sheet cake and the signature Mango Mousse cake. The cakes here are never too sweet just the way I enjoy my cakes. Since I didn’t want any writing on my cake they decorated with delicious fruits which was awesome.

Absolutely beautiful cake ! So happy with the outcome. Called in and picked up within 24 hours. Ladies at the counter were so kind and welcoming. Also picked up a few egg tarts and fried sticky rice, boyfriend devoured before I could take a picture ☺️ will be returning for future occasions !

This is a must go to family owned local bakery! This is the spot I always go to for pastries and iced coffee milk tea! The shrimp noodles sell out fast here. This spot makes the freshest fruit cake and guarantee that it’ll be loved! The cakes are baked so fresh, lightly sweetened and so soft with every bite! Love, love, love it here! They also show support to local community based organizations, too!
C — Google review
Love their cakes, especially mango mouse! Fluffy sponge cake, light cream with just enough sweetness but not overly diabetic sugarly sweet. And their rice cake is such a filling breakfast/brunch.
Minh D — Google review
Delicious cake and helpful customer service. This bakery is further away from the busy part of Chinatown which is nice because it's less congested and easier to pick up an order.

Blackbird Doughnuts is a popular spot located near Tremont & Berkeley Street, offering delicious breakfast sandwiches made to order in 10 minutes or less. The small coffee is priced at $2.50 and comes from a local roaster, Fazenda Coffee. While there's no indoor seating, the outdoor bench provides a great spot for people-watching. The shop is inside the Harvard Smith Center with limited parking available nearby.
Lots of vegetarian options! We got the falafel 🥙 wrap and fries 🍟! Really fast and really delicious food! And it's conveniently in the food court, where there's lots of seating, both indoors and outdoors! The donuts looked delectable!

Got a tiramisu donut! The cream and outside were delicious. It did taste like there was a small uncooked spot in the middle of the donut though.
Grace Z — Google review
I got their Blackbird breakfast sandwich and they forgot my bacon. My main issue is that this subpar sandwich is overpriced at $10. You barely taste the donut since it’s just one donut cut in half(whereas I believe it would be better if they did two donuts instead). Their donuts alone are $3+ which I believe are also overpriced for a donut that doesn’t have anything different happening with it.
Cool C — Google review
Constantly messing up orders with no accountability. My wife has a dairy allergy and any time I order I’m rolling the dice on whether or not they’ll follow the order or just toss whatever they feel like into the box. I’ve gotten donuts that are completely missing fillings. They don’t post the shop’s phone number anywhere so you can’t call and report a mistake. You have to email and request a refund and get a response a week later.
Mike S — Google review
Fantastic breakfast sandwiches made fast and fresh to order. Always ready in 10mins or less. Never tried the donuts. Parking in Harvard is sparse but available if you know how to navigate all the 1-way streets so plan to come on foot or by public transit. It’s inside the Harvard Smith Center.

Flour Bakery + Cafe is a local chain known for its French pastries like croissants and sticky buns. The cafe offers a variety of drinks, including seasonal specials like the cucumber spritzer and cherry vanilla spritzer. Customers can also enjoy sandwiches, salads, and bakery items made with locally sourced ingredients. The cafe provides options for non-dairy drinks such as almond milk and oat milk, catering to different dietary needs.
This place is busy! But well worth the wait, which wasn't terribly long because the staff keeps it moving, like wow. I was impressed by how many orders were just coming out so quickly. The sticky bun is pleasantly delicious! I ordered the salmon bun and the tried the tomato basil soup. Others had the chicken sandwich and spinach pastry- which were all praised. The matcha and the Chai is good too! It's a cute and yummy spot to visit for sure!!!

They didn't have Boston Cream Pie but they had many other pastries and the sticky buns were great. They also had plenty of other food like salad and sandwiches which were good as well. They also had a chocolate chip cookie which was good but not the best. Overall I would recommend this place.

I got a takeout salmon salad. Very pricey for what I got at about $16. Th Boston cream slice was excellent though.

Sandwiches, quiche, baked goods, the quiche was the best I've had in years! And the breakfast cookie was a wonderful combination of seeds and grains
Daniel K — Google review
Got a latte, Midnight Chocolate Cake, and Banana Bread. Quite mediocre in taste. Cake and banana bread felt like they were taken out of a generic Costco/Walmart shelf (too sweet, too generic in taste/texture). Latte was made with almond milk but quite sweet. Would only recommend if you need indoor/outdoor seat while near South End. Otherwise, for food/drinks, would look elsewhere.

Better gluten free bread than most other places I’ve been. Very good service and very accommodating of food allergies.

We’ve been fans of Joanne and Flour bakery for years. We live in NYC and only get to Boston once in awhile. We’ve been lucky to visit Boston a few times the last 3 months visiting colleges. Everything is wonderful! I finally remembered to order in advance the Midnight cake, absolutely the best! And also we got lucky to finally try her pop tarts, fabulous too! A quick mention, the Boston cream cake, coconut cream and chocolate cream pies are also wonderful! Thanks again!

Tucked away in a quiet alley off Hanover Street, Bricco Panetteria is a hidden gem known for its freshly baked bread and delicious deli sandwiches. This small counter-serve bakery offers a limited selection of Italian pastries and breads, including whole Italian loaves and Nutella-filled croissants.
Sfogliatella is done by a lot of bakeries in the North End but my favorite is from here! Going down an alleyway to find this place only makes it more of a fun find, but the pastries and breads really are great here. The mini Sfogliatella had great layering, a great custard filling, and all for $3! Definitely try to come at least once to this underrated secret spot!
Cameron — Google review
We visited Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop as part of The Politically Incorrect North End Food Tour wit Antony, and it was one of my favorite stops of the day. This tucked-away shop is owned by Frank DePasquale, who has built a small empire of restaurants in Boston’s North End. What makes Bricco so special is that it still feels like a neighborhood spot while supplying freshly made pasta and bread for many of his other restaurants. Inside, the shelves were lined with beautiful handmade noodles, sauces, and Italian sandwiches ready to go. Antony explained how the DePasquale family wanted to keep authentic Italian food traditions alive by making everything fresh daily — and you can taste the difference. We tried a sfogliatelle pastry, its crisp, flaky layers filled with a sweet ricotta and orange-flavored filling. It was absolutely heavenly — light, fragrant, and perfectly balanced. Everything in the shop looked so tempting, I could have filled a suitcase just with their fresh pasta. Another fun fact: Tom Cruise has even dined next door at Bricco, which shows how beloved this spot is, even by celebrities. But to me, the real magic was the combination of authenticity, quality, and the feeling that you’ve discovered one of Boston’s best-kept secrets. If you love Italian food, Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop is a must-stop in the North End. Go for the pasta, stay for the pastries — and don’t be surprised if you find yourself planning your return trip before you even leave.
Shelly G — Google review
Bricco Panetteria is a true hidden gem. I’ve walked by it countless times without noticing, tucked away in an alley off Hanover Street. Today we followed the sign and found a small spot serving pizza al taglio—thin, focaccia-style pizza by the slice. We tried the zucchini and mozzarella, perfectly warmed and folded to eat on the go—fresh, light, and delicious. The breads looked amazing too, so I’ll be back for a loaf. Cash only and no tables—just great grab-and-go food.
Katy O — Google review
A must visit in the North End area. Nice shop off the road in a beautiful, though easy to miss, alley and into a basement where magic happens. We tried that Focaccia bread and Sfogliatella. Sfogliatella was great - crispy outside and soft tasty filling. Focaccia was great as well. Enjoyed both. They are cash only, so make sure to keep some if you’re buying something from here. Definitely visit.
Jay M — Google review
Literal definition of hole in the wall and a MUST for anyone stopping in the North End. You need to get their sfogliatella. A delicate, flaky, crunchy pastry with a creamy, mildly sweet, lightly citrus and cinnamon filling.
Jack K — Google review
Bricco Panetteria is a hidden gem nestled in Boston’s North End, renowned for its artisanal breads and pastries. Located at 11 Board Alley, just off Hanover Street, this bakery is tucked down a narrow alleyway and accessed via a staircase leading to a cozy, basement-level shop. Established by restaurateur Frank DePasquale, Bricco Panetteria was created to supply fresh bread to his local restaurants. The bakery offers a selection of handcrafted breads, including olive ciabatta, prosciutto and parmesan-stuffed ciabatta, miche (a rustic rye loaf), sunflower bread, and brioche. Their pastries, such as the sfogliatella—a flaky pastry filled with sweet ricotta and citrus—are also highly praised. Note that the bakery operates on a cash-only basis. Adjacent to Bricco Panetteria is Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop, another establishment by Frank DePasquale. This Italian deli specializes in homemade pastas, sauces, and a variety of imported goods, including olive oils, vinegars, and cheeses. Notably, Bricco Salumeria is acclaimed for its Italian sausages, which are made in-house using traditional spices and methods. The shop also offers made-to-order sandwiches, allowing customers to enjoy their freshly prepared meats and cheeses on the spot. Both establishments are part of what locals refer to as “Bricco Alley,” offering an authentic Italian culinary experience away from the bustling main streets. We just picked up some freshly sliced prosciutto here, and it was incredible—melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly aged, and full of rich flavor. You can taste the quality and craftsmanship in every bite.
Wei W — Google review
The sfogliatellas are incredible. Ended up going back 2 hours later to get more for the road!
Katie W — Google review
Honestly, I was disappointed. There weren’t many options, and the focaccia we bought wasn’t fresh, it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. I’ve had better bread from regular supermarket bakeries. Also, I noticed they handled bread and money without washing their hands, which didn’t feel very hygienic.

Nestled in the heart of Somerville, Lyndell's Bakery is a cherished gem that has been delighting taste buds since 1887. This historic bakery prides itself on crafting an array of mouthwatering treats, from cakes and donuts to Italian pastries, all made from scratch with top-notch ingredients. With over a century of tradition behind them, their menu boasts everything from classic crescent cookies and apple pies to custom birthday cakes that have become a staple for families in the area.
Best cupcakes on the planet. Make sure you get the ones that have only frosting on the top, vanilla or chocolate. Only. The other ones are good but they're made to sell to the kids because of the fancy designs and art that's on top. Those are not the same. The cupcakes I'm talking about are old school, haven't changed in over 50 years, very reliable. Just make sure to have a half a gallon of milk with you. Six pack of cupcakes! The half Moon madness special is a good deal, buy one get one free. But those cupcakes, mmmmmm!

My mother bought a cake for my birthday and it was DELICIOUS! I love chocolate on chocolate cake and this was amazing. So rich and moist, this has to be my favorite cake in a long time. The inside is a blast from the past, from the old school number queue to the glass cases and the foot operated twine machine, it reminds me of the old bakeries you just don’t see anymore. There’s parking in the back if needed. The staff is friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be back to try more.

I’ve been meaning to stop by Lyndell’s after a friend of mine recommended I come here! I walked in and there was such a variety of baked goods to look and choose from. Staff were very welcoming and didn’t rush any customers to order. I got a raspberry pastry and 2 half moon cakes; one vanilla and one chocolate. They had a deal that day where it was BOGO free for the half moon cakes! Total came out to $6.75. The raspberry pastry was delicious! Soft, fluffy bread with some cinnamon with the tangy, sweetness from the raspberry jam and icing. Half moon cakes- both cakes were pretty good, not dry and not too sweet which was good because the icing on top of them were pretty sweet. It’s a considerable amount of frosting, so be warned if you cannot handle too much much sugar! All and all, I’d love to try more goodies from Lyndell’s! ^^

Clearly, this bakery is quite historic - and you can tell that from just walking by. Similarly, you can tell that this bakery makes quality products (and a wide variety) just from walking in the door. I had a few pastries my first visit here, and they were excellent. Petsi Pies, a beloved bakery founded in 2003 by owner Renee McLeod, is renowned for its delectable sweet and savory pies, pastries, cookies, and cupcakes. With multiple locations in Cambridge and Somerville, the bakery exudes a welcoming hometown vibe. The menu boasts classic flavors like blueberry and apple pies alongside mouthwatering options such as Chocolate Bourbon Pecan.
I may be a little biased as I used to work there years ago but I just got a couple of mini pies at a pop up Valentine's event yesterday and they didn't disappoint. Delightful crunchy crust, not too sweet and delicate flavors; overall consistently the best pie in Boston regardless of location and ownership change. Pictured are the cherry and mixed berry mini pie. The pecan did not last long enough for the photo.

Amazing little grab and go bakery! The pies here are great, but don’t miss out on their pastries too! For our wedding dessert, rather than traditional cake we wanted to share a local neighborhood favorite with our guests. Petsi Pies did not disappoint, friends and family are still raving about the adorable and tasty cutie sized pies. We had a mix of salted caramel apple, apple crumb, brown butter pecan, chocolate bourbon pecan, and the Mississippi mud (a crowd favorite). Julian did a great job answering questions, setting up a tasting, and making sure we had all the information we needed over email.

FEB. 2024 UPDATE Picked up some cutie pies this time, which were $4 each. The size is good if you want to try multiple flavors, but I feel like you get more bang for your buck if you pay $9 for a 5" pie instead. - Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Cutie Pie ($4): Very thick, rich, and chocolate forward (so much so that I didn't taste any of the pecan flavor). The texture of the filling was almost like that of an undercooked brownie. Wasn't bad but probably not something I would get again because of how heavy it was; I'm glad I only got a cutie pie because it would have been hard to finish more than this. - Mixed Berry Cutie Pie ($4): Mixed berry but I only tasted blueberries. Tasted like a classic pie. I liked the crumble. Overall, both pies were satisfying, but I enjoyed the brown butter pecan pie that I got last time more. FEB. 2024 I had Petsi Pies bookmarked for a while, and it happened to be across from where I was, so I decided that today was the day I would cross it off my list. I got in 20 minutes before closing, but there is no seating inside, so I would not have been able to dine in anyway. It was empty at this time, and most of the pastries on display were gone. The pie of the month (chocolate cream pie) sounded yummy, but I wasn't feeling chocolate at the time, so I went with the pecan pie. I actually wanted the chocolate bourbon pecan pie, which is one of the signatures according to the website, but I didn't realize there was also a brown butter pecan pie. Saying only "pecan pie" netted me the brown butter one, so learn from my blunder if you are also going for the chocolate bourbon. However, I don't think it is accurate to call this a blunder, as I really enjoyed the brown butter one. The candied pecans had a delicious, sticky chew. The pie shell was crispy and buttery. The inside was sweet and gooey; the texture reminded me of Hong Kong egg tarts. This flavor is definitely decadent enough to satisfy a sweet craving, so I was only able to eat half. $9 for this size was reasonable, considering a slice of pie at a restaurant usually costs $12+. Overall, I am glad I picked up a pie, and I am excited to try more in the future, including the chocolate bourbon pecan pie that I originally wanted.

Are lunch here with a friend and it was a perfect place to catch up. I have a dairy allergy, so they made me a Monument sandwich with no cheese - it was a little overpowered by the tart cranberries and green apple. I'll try a different sandwich next time. One of my favorite parts about this Jamaica Plain bakery and café is the cozy spot in the back where you can sit down with your coffee, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s a wonderful hidden gem in the neighborhood, perfect for breakfast, coffee dates, or just a quiet moment with a pastry and a latte. I highly recommend this bakery to anyone in or around Jamaica Plain. Whether you’re local or just visiting, make sure to stop in—you’ll be glad you did!

We got a vegan wedding cake from Fiore's Bakery. Pros: The cake was very affordable, looked beautiful, and tasted amazing. Even our non-vegan guests commented on how good it was! We also loved that they offered gluten-free cupcakes for our guests with dietary restrictions. Cons: The ordering process was unfortunately quite disorganized. We received a call on the day of pickup asking what design we wanted, even though we had confirmed the details with an employee several months earlier. When we re-sent the design that had already been approved, the employee responded in a rude manner, and we felt the response was unnecessarily defensive. More particularly, the employee dismissed our concerns on the phone, continued to cut us off, and attempted to gaslight us into thinking that we caused the miscommunication (despite showing screenshots of our continual communication with our point of contact at the bakery about our design for over a year). While the end result was wonderful, the experience leading up to it was stressful. I’d recommend Fiore’s for their delicious vegan cakes, but would be cautious about using them for weddings, and suggest confirming design details multiple times to avoid any last-minute confusion.

When my son suggested coffee at his favorite local café, I was all in. I did not expect such a wonderful, cozy, warm experience like the one I had at Fiore’s! Aside from a variety of seating indoors, there was a wonderful backyard oasis, perfect for dining, chatting, or enjoying your book over a latte. I was also impressed with the menu, which featured something for the everyone: baked goods both sweet and savory, a huge array of gluten-free options, vegan and vegetarian choices, and whole meals for breakfast and lunch. I enjoyed an omelette and an iced coffee, not to mention my son and granddaughter’s outstanding company. I’ll return to Fiore’s again for sure.

Haley House Bakery Café is a remarkable non-profit establishment that has been serving the South End community since 1966. This unique venue combines a full-service soup kitchen, food pantry, and clothing room with an inviting café atmosphere. With a dedicated live-in volunteer staff, Haley House focuses on providing personal hospitality to every guest while addressing the evolving needs of its neighborhood.
Probably the best spot and Black owned business in Boston. I went there on Thursday during an open mic. The host, Niña la Negra is simply amazing. She started by asking everyone in the room to introduce themselves so after that, the ambiance became more convivial. It was a complete melting pot, people with roots from every parts of the world. We were laughing all together and we all, before the open mic, had a conversation. Niña la Negra was basically hosting and we were giving our answers and exchanging our points. (Update: there’s no more open mics with her over there). But it's not only about the ambiance. It's also about the responsible mentality that the bakery has. They care about environment and nature. The food is organic (as much as they can propose), veggies and fruits come from local farms. My stomach was full, I had to ask for a doggy bag. They also offer have pay-what-you-can days and exhibit art pieces from local artists. I RECOMMEND YOU THIS PLACE. P.S : They propose meat food / vegetarian food / vegan food!

Fell in love with this place! They give big portions of food for the price and the food is really great. Plus, they operate on an honorable mission to help rehabilitate formerly incarcerated people in the Boston area. Great place, can't wait to visit in the warmer months when the garden is up and running. The jerk chicken is superb and the french toast is super yummy for brunch.

The Nubian Bowl is amazing! The wait was a bit long but it was well worth it in the end. Great atmosphere, staff and food.

If only I lived or worked closer, I would be here every week! The Haley House has a positive, artsy vibe with an awesome mission. They're clearly a community-centered institution. The food is flavorful and pretty cheap compared to most of Boston, I was obsessed with my breakfast hash bowl smothered in harissa. Definitely worth a stop for any meal or one of their evening events!

Nestled in the charming Newbury Street of Boston, Lady M Cake Boutique is a delightful gem that showcases the artistry of high-end baking. This exquisite bakery specializes in its signature chocolate mille crepes cake, which features twenty delicate layers of paper-thin crepes infused with imported French cocoa and separated by luscious pastry cream. Each cake is adorned with elegant chocolate curls, making it not just a treat for the palate but also a feast for the eyes.
Lady M Boston is hands down my go-to for the best cake in the city. I’ve visited multiple times, and the quality is always incredible. Especially their Mille Crêpes cakes, which are light, flavorful, and totally addictive. When I can’t make it in person, I’ll order on DoorDash to satisfy the craving. Whether it’s a special occasion or just a sweet treat, Lady M never disappoints :)

Newbury St location is a takeout only, we bought a cake for my daughter’s bd here and we were surprised how smooth it was, we ordered the Crepe Mille style. I’ve never had this kind of cake, wow the layers melt in your mouth … we bought the strawberry matcha and the crepes are made to perfection as they’re soft, moist and chewy and packed with a beautiful bag as well as a plastic knife. Amazing cake and experience… I definitely buy it again!!!!! I gave them 4 stars because of the customer service, they didn’t have a friendly attitude.
Gela G — Google review
A Takeaway counter only! . If you’re buying a cake, which is ridiculously expensive, at least you should have a place to sit and enjoy the cake which does not exist in the shop. Currently a slice cost $16.05( including tax ) This is a multilayer crêpe cake. The cream of the cake is light. We got the Dubai chocolate version. They have a display of all the current variants of miles cake. . The packaging of the cake is great, probably the best and the only thing.

Walked in and liked the variety of cakes that were on display. Got an order of their passionfruit slice. Paid about $14.xx and was pretty disappointed. The cake itself is very eggy and that tends to dominate all the other flavors a passionfruit cake should essentially deliver. Every bite I took felt like I was eating a mousse made out of cooked eggs and cream with a subtle hint of tartness. Also the texture was pretty off. Nothing about it felt tropical/vibrant! Really expected a nice, zesty, punch, but well!!! Service and atmosphere is okay but it’s only takeout. Don’t think I will be going back.

I always make a stop by Lady M whenever I can! Their cakes aren’t too sweet and are of high quality. They offer both classic flavors that appeal to Asian tastes and fun, unique flavors. The environment is very clean, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I got the taro mochi flavor and the strawberry pearl flavor, and both were delicious. My partner, who usually isn’t a fan of sweets, loved the Lady M cake slices! Will definitely stop by again.
Hyemee K — Google review
Had the passion fruit slice. like a mouse texture made of crepes and cream which was light, so points for that !! Nothing special , a jelly like layer of passion fruit which was like a sheet of paper . Feels like a lot of the crème based cakes are the same with a different gelitan topping depending on flavour . Lady serving had 0 customer service, no where to eat but packaging was amazing I had food poisoning, pain and Bloating. Overall would not recommend please don’t fall for the hype but glad I tried it once I guess as was on the bucket list. The 2 stars are for the most packaging and the cleanliness. I

Got the passion fruit slice. Bad experience. Ended up with food poisoning after having it for some reason. There were some sort of layers that had formed in the spongy part of the cake. And it is not cheap.

Lady M Cake Boutique is a famous cake maker with many locations across the Northeast, with this location being located right on Newbury Street. The staff are quite friendly and accommodating, telling us which slices were available as letting us know about the non-cake options they had to eat. We got the Matcha bonbon crunches and a slice of the Dubai Chocolate Cake. The Matcha Crunch was pretty good, decent portion for the price, and had a nice flavor, though light on the matcha. The dubai chocolate cake was good, though small for the price, with the characteristic tastes of Dubai Chocolate fillings and the light and fluffy texture of the cake. It is a well made cake with a nice flavor.

I ordered a two teir lemon cake with vanilla frosting for my birthday. Let me tell you, when I bit into this cake, I was immediately in bliss. Not only was the lady there the sweetest person ever (amazing customer service) but this cake is impeccable. The flowers are the perfect colors, and the taste and texture are lovely. I normally don’t do this but as I’ve been awaiting a phone and 10% refund for 2 1/2 months, I figure it’s time to shine the light on @ sweet tooth bakery. The 1st pic is the cake I ordered from Sweet tooth for my daughter’s college graduation party, pic # 2 is the cake I picked up on Saturday and Pic # 3 is aftermath on Sunday and was left without a cake for the party. I spoke to Dave on 8/13 after I’ve left several messages and emails as of 8/2 he was very dismissive and asked why it took so long for me to call them with issue, had to remind him that no one has responded to my phone call or emails. He also repeatedly kept telling me the pricing of the cake would’ve been different for a “tall cake” as I informed him, money was not the issue but the quality and design. He proceeded to tell me that they are not responsible for the cake after it leaves there facility, again not my issue. I did spent 30mins on the phone initially to ensure the cake would’ve been created as above and Jennifer ensured me it would as you can see from the pic above it was not even close, per Dave they are “unable to reproduce a cake found on google.” The baker should’ve informed me they he was unable to produce such cake but instead he told me that he would be able to make it as such s Dave, informed me that Jennifer would call me the following day and issue me a 10% refund and as of yet I have not received a call nor refund. Sweet tooth was one of my favorite bakeries however I am truly disappointed in them and have lost faith in their services!! I hope they’re able provide their staff and bakers with adequate customer service training so others do not go through this experience.

We love Sweet Tooth! We frequent Sweet Tooth whenever we are planning a special occasion or simply looking for treats to bring to a friend’s house. And so, when we started planning our wedding, having Sweet Tooth do our cake was a no-brainer. The 2-tier wedding cake and 250 cupcakes were absolutely delicious, unique, and stunning / meticulously designed. (Glenn actually used an image of my wedding dress to replicate the lace pattern in the icing, and decorated with flowers from my bouquet!) As a testament to how amazing the dessert was, our wedding planner told us that they were having a tough time getting our guests onto the dance floor as everyone was in the dessert room enjoying cupcakes! Thanks so much to Glenn and the team at Sweet Tooth for making our special day so wonderful!

Ordered a custom cake from there and sent reference pictures, they not only made the most beautiful cake, but it was delicious. On top of that, the staff was outstandingly accommodating and genuine, could tell they really cared about their products. The baker even came out and described how proud and happy they were to have made the cake. 10/10 experience and will recommend them to anyone I know who wants any customized baked goods. Thanks again Sweet Tooth!

We were in Boston for the weekend with other friends from Indianapolis. It just happened to be their anniversary weekend the weekend of our trip so we called about a month ahead and ordered a cake from Sweet Tooth. The cake was ready on time and gorgeous, and well priced, especially since I had given them no direction at all regarding how to decorate it when I called in the order. The buttercream frosting was delicious and the cake was moist. The owner brought the cake out and showed it to me before boxing it up and took time to chat and give suggestions for our weekend vacation. Extremely pleased with our decision to chose this bakery for our cake.

I was hoping to order a harry potter themed cake. The woman I spoke to Jenifer was extremely short with me the whole time , I ordered the cake out of desperation despite having such rude service as they promised to have it done in time. I called several times before picking up the cake asking if it was ready they assured me it was and when I arrived it wasn't ready and they wrote the inscription and made glasses in literally 5 mins and that was the only customization I had asked for. As you can see the writing is smeared the glasses are crooked and when I asked about it I got an extremely rude answer with the box being shoved in my face. This cake was for my husbands birthday it was completely unsatisfactory and and ruined my mood for the party. I would give them a lower rating then one if that was possible especially for there bad customer service.

My wife ordered our daughter's birthday cake here and we are extremely happy with with the results. Jonquils Cafe and Bakery is a whimsical patisserie located on Newbury Street in Boston, offering a playful ambiance and specialty coffees, teas, cakes, and snacks. The cafe's food and drinks are reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland with added flowers and rich colors. They boast state-of-the-art brewing equipment including a Kees van der Westen espresso machine that has gained popularity on TikTok. Their geometric desserts are constructed using a 3D printer for an extra touch of creativity.
This place has really inventive pastries that are both tasty and visually beautiful looking. It completely elevates the experience of eating cake into something special. The Geometric Apple is a stand out but the Raspberry Pistachio was also delicious. Nothing was overly sweet. The cafe is clean with a decent amount of seating. Service was good, with some friendly staff members helping us out.

Beautiful coffee shop with beautiful desserts and baked goods. The scone was very good, with a nice crusty edge. Coffee was really nice, smooth and great with cream. Not bitter and not too strong. The service was good, only one person in front of us, so not much of a wait. Lots of indoor and outdoor patio seating.

I love this cafe! The seating is a little limited, but that’s to be expected in this area. The items are not only delicious but also beautifully presented, and the cappuccinos were excellent. I probably wouldn’t go here regularly because of the seating and location, but it’s definitely a fun spot to treat yourself or grab a special coffee/pastry. Worth checking out if you’re in the area!

I went for coffee with something sweet to this cafe and was surprised to see the dessert galore at this place. Everything was so artistic and eye catching, it was a tough decision but I decided to have the Raspberry Pistachio and it was like a burst of flavors in my mouth. I also got a strawberry rose to go and it didn't disappoint. The ambience is modern and clean. An awesome cafe with delicate desserts in Newbury St, not to be missed. X

We ordered the geometrical apple and the raspberry pistachio desserts, with black and green tea. They brewed both teas and it tasted so good and fresh. The desserts were out of this world. We specially liked the contrast between the smoothness of the mousse and the crunchiness of the cake layers, or the sweetness of the white chocolate layer of the raspberry pistachio with the sourness of the raspberry filling. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was so chill, with a nice selection of music.

Jonquils Café & Bakery on Newbury Street is truly spectacular. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels cozy, warm, and welcoming, the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home. Everything they serve is absolutely delicious, from the pastries to the coffee, always fresh, carefully prepared, and beautifully presented. What makes this place extra special to me is the personal connection I have with it. Every time I come here, I am reminded of my very first trip to Boston with my mother as an adult. It was the first time I was able to invite her, to share those little moments together over coffee and something sweet, and that memory will always stay in my heart. Coming back to John Gil’s brings that feeling alive again, which makes it so much more than just a café for me. It’s a wonderful spot, not only because of the quality of the food and drinks, but also because of the way it creates lasting memories. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Newbury Street, you’ll find both amazing flavors and a truly meaningful experience.

Cafe Beatrice is a charming addition to the growing Cambridge Crossing area, offering an array of delectable pastries, all-day breakfast options, and unique sandwiches such as the Roasted Pumpkin Grilled Cheese. Visitors can indulge in a selection of cookies including pistachio mudslide cookie sandwiches and the popular Earl Grey sugar cookie with its crispy pearl sugar topping.
Really nice bagels! I tried their kalamata olive and caramelized onion cream cheese. I prefer olive over the onion. Bagels felt fresh. They have a few other great breakfast options (a few vegetarian options too). Their hot chocolate and latte are just average. Nothing much to say. I'd still go for their bagels and other breakfast options.

Stopped by on Saturday for a quick snack. Had a beer and cookie while my friend got a mocha and a pastry. Both the cookie and pastry were delicious and big to be satiating. The staff was nice but the biggest issue was the atmosphere. The space isn’t too large and over half the tables were taken up by people just on there laptops with no drink or food in sight as over 8 people waited for a table so we could eat. It was just a cramped environment. There were tables outside but it was just a cold day. Maybe could be better in the summer.

Tried the maple kouign amann but there were a lot of tasty looking pastries to choose from. It was like a giant croissant muffin mix covered in cinnamon sugar. The top was super crispy. The bottom was a perfect, intensely buttery layer of sugar and pastry.

Charming cafe with excellent coffee. We had iced coffee and iced matcha. They have various milk alternatives and flavoured syrups available. Stopped by in the evening to get a cortado. I was surprised to see this cafe open late. They have seating both outside and inside. Inside was pretty modern and they had a nice quiet area in the back and some tables more suitable for dining in front. I ordered a cortado and asked to sit outside as it was a fine evening. They gave it to me in a glass cup and asked if I could just return the empty cup once I was done. Overall, I enjoyed my cortado which was inexpensive and made well. What made it better was just the chill vibe of the space. I also gave a short interview to a Hult student as it seemed they were doing research on patrons of the cafe.

Still one of my favorite local cafes in Cambridge. Been coming here since they first opened, and while their sandwiches are all solid, the breakfast egg and sausage sandwich is what keeps me coming back. Legit sausage patties, perfectly fried eggs—and when I’m all in, I go double patties, double egg, add cheese. Definitely not cheap, but totally worth the splurge if you’re starving. It’s one of those sandwiches that carries you through the entire day. Their pastries are solid too. The veggie danish is easily one of the best I’ve had in the city—more like a croissant, flaky savory, and not overly heavy. I’ve also got a soft spot for their cinnamon roll. They supply pastries to local cafes like Cicada, and I always grab a couple of their sea salt chocolate chip cookies when I need a sugar boost.

Manoa Poke Shop in Somerville offers a fast-casual dining experience with customizable bowls of poke, fried chicken, and other Pacific Island dishes. Despite its small menu, the quality of food is exceptional. The shop is only open on weekends but is well worth the wait for its authentic Hawaiian flavors. Customers rave about the fresh fish used in their dishes and recommend trying the Mix plate with salmon and ahi tuna in a shoyu marinade.
Delicious Poke in town, really love the mix plate which you could choose 2 protein. I chose the BBQ Salmon and Kalua Pig, they were tasty. Both protein had rich flavor that blended with the rice, salad, and macaroni. The menu cost me $24.57 (include tips). My friend ordered mini mix which had smaller portion. The Ahi shoyu & Salmon shoyu were fresh & mouthwatering. The waiters were friendly, and there were free iced water & restrooms. Would come back to this resto.

I got the spicy tuna and salmon shoyu mix bowl. I think I had high expectations for this place because of all the reviews. I think both the proteins were very fresh. I do think the spicy tuna was not spicy and could have surprisingly used a little more flavor. I think the cucumber salad could have been a little more fresh. I also got the guava cake — the actual cake was a little dense but still enjoyable and the guava frosting was absolutely delicious. I do think both the poke bowls and dessert were on the pricier side.

Manoa Poke – Somerville, MA 🍱🌺 📍 300 Beacon St, Somerville, MA 02143 If you’re craving authentic Hawaiian poke, Manoa Poke is where it’s at! 🌊🐟 We tried their Mix Plate which comes with fluffy white rice 🍚, creamy mac salad 🥗, crunchy kimchi cucumbers 🥒🔥, and your choice of two proteins—we went with spicy tuna and salmon. Both were solid, but the real winner? 👑 ✨SALMON BELLY✨ Coated in the most addicting teriyaki sauce 🍯, it was sweet, savory, and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth. I don’t even like salmon usually, but this blew me away. 10/10 would order again (and again 😍). We also tried the Kalua Pig 🐖—tender pulled pork shoulder slow-cooked to perfection, served with their housemade yaki sauce. It’s juicy, flavorful, and a must-try for anyone who’s not big on seafood. 🍰 Dessert time! We finished with their Mango Cake—a spongey, tropical dream. The real MVP? That fluffy, flavorful frosting. 🌴 Can’t wait to come back and try the pineapple version! 🍍💛 ⏰ Heads up: This place gets busy even right at opening (3PM!) and some things sell out fast, so get there early! 🕒🚶‍♀️ Food: 9/10 Ambiance: Grab-and-go vibes, not really a dine-in hangout. Affordability: 5/10 – Definitely a treat yo’self kinda meal 💸 but you’re paying for quality and real island flavor 🌈✨

My absolute favorite restaurant in the area!!! The fish is high quality, fresh, and delicious. My favorite is the BBQ salmon and salmon shoyu but you really can’t go wrong here. But know that when you go to Manoa, you’re going for the vibes and family. Jacob and his team are so friendly, kind, and really care for this community. Their delicious meals single handedly fed all my friends through the highs and lows of school and they probably wouldn’t have survived without Manoa. Go hungry, and they really mean it when they say you leave family :) Enjoy the meal and don’t forget that you can always cater from them for special events!! Such a gem and is the place I’ve missed most since leaving the area.

Easily the best poke i’ve had in boston, I feel so disappointed and sad when i forget that they’re closed and consider ordering. Everything is so well flavored and portioned and the people just radiate kindness. This review is overdue. I LOVE this place
Makaila B — Google review
I love poke, but I've never been to Hawaii, so truthfully I do not know how the poke I've eaten up 'til now compares to authentic poke. However, I heard that Manoa serves the closest I can get to authentic poke, so I wanted to check it out. The place normally doesn't open until 5pm, but this was a special week where it opened a bit earlier at 4:30pm, which is why I decided to go since I usually eat earlier. I placed an online order for 4:30pm, but my food wasn't ready until 4:40pm. The inside was very colorful with minimal seating. There were free anime stickers at the cash register! - BBQ Gohan Bowl ($15): Smaller portion size than the ahi katsu plate for the same price but still filling. I was most excited about the soy-cured egg, but it seeped into the rice by the time I got home, so I did not get the satisfaction of popping the yolk, sadly. I definitely tasted the BBQ flavor, and the salmon was cooked well (not dry). However, there was too much sauce, so I found the dish too salty, which is a common theme as you'll continue reading. - Ahi Katsu Plate ($15): Huge portion, though largely because there was a ton of rice. I don't eat this much rice, so if there were an option to order the ahi katsu a la carte or substitute the rice with other sides, I would have done so. However, the rice was cooked well. The ahi katsu was crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside (but again, I found it on the saltier side; same for the kimchi cucumbers). I liked the refreshing lightness of the mac salad. - Manoa Dip with Wonton Chips ($9): The dip tasted similar to the BBQ Gohan Bowl: thick and creamy but salty. I did not like the wonton chips; they tasted way too oily and were too brittle to actually be used to scoop the dip. - Pineapple Cake ($7): This dessert was interesting; I liked it. It was basically a sponge cake infused with pineapple syrup. Very soft and flavorful. The cake was wrapped in thin slices of fresh pineapple, but I found the taste similar to canned pineapple. Overall, the prices were decent, and the food was flavorful but just too salty for my taste. I also didn't get any poke like I had originally planned (the stuff that I ended up ordering just sounded too good; also, I thought the dip was going to be raw, but I did not read the description carefully enough), so maybe I will enjoy the poke more.

The bakery Ho Yuen Bakery Inc is a popular spot for Chinese food in Greater Boston. They offer traditional baked goods like mooncakes, as well as savory lunch items. Prices have recently increased, but the quality of their products makes it worth it. Try their coconut breads and egg custard cups!
cute spot in boston chinatown, quick service, and yummy pastries. in our little tour of chinatown, we wanted to stop into multiple places and try as many little things as possible. we split a small green tea moon cake and an egg tart. so delectable and cheap. bring your cash!
Maisune A — Google review
Ho Yuen is one of the last few traditional Chinese bakeries around Boston. Their baked goods are very authentic, similar to what I grew up with in Hong Kong. They are the only shop that I've found that offers the glutinous "white sugar cake", not too sweet and has a great chewy texture. It's so very good! The fried dough and Yao tiao are both nicely fried and not too greasy. My only complaint about the food here is that the pineapple buns are always underbaked. The baked roast pork bun tends to have an undercooked bottom too but has very good flavor. Service is not friendly but is efficient once you get their attention, especially during busy times. Cash only.

I would have bought one of everything if I had more time in Boston lol this place is legit old school chinese bakery styles. My favourite was the egg tart! I will be back to try everything else 🙂

A nice place to find either traditional chinese pastries and desserts, or something a little more american (sweeter). Got something called a Neapolitan. It had layers of flakey crust and dry nougat. I enjoyed it.

My family has been going to Ho Yuen bakery for over 40years! It is a Boston historical landmark! Consistently great traditional Chinese baked goods! It is the best! And their gift certificates do not expire like other bakeries in the area. I highly recommend their bakery for Chinese weddings!!

Great food selection and reasonable prices. The first pic on google is a different bakery from the others. They’re right next to each other, but the first pic (it’s the left one in the building) was cash only the last time I visited. The sesame balls are so good, definitely come here if you’re looking for something sweet. I think it’s run by one person! The food is definitely the real deal.
Aris — Google review
My co workers and I were wandering through Chinatown and stopped in this bakery on a moon cake mission. $20 later, we had moon cakes AND chocolate cake, and I’m sure if we had more space we would have taken even more of the pastries to go with us. Wow. What amazing food art, everything here looks and smells incredible. I also highly recommend the pineapple moon cakes!

Warm and cozy neighborhood cafe. Very sweet ladies running the place. Bagel was well toasted, good amount of bacon but eggs were a little soggy and bland. Pumpkin muffin is the best muffin i have had! Soft and moist and very flavorful.

World class cheesecake. So easy to order online and the 6” Cheesecake was the perfect size for our event. Everyone was ranting and raving about how beautiful and delicious it was. Also the delivery price couldn’t be beat and saved me the headache!! Can’t wait to purchase again for my next event.

Yesterday was my first time visiting this place! It’s small but so cute! I bought a strawberry & pistachio roll and cinnamon roll and both were DELICIOUS! The cinnamon roll was my favorite, so soft, delicate and not super sweet, perfect balance! Added a picture, not the best, but it was so good! 🙌 I’ll be back! ☺️

Cocorico is a French-style boulangerie located in the Omni in the Seaport area of Boston. Known for its delightful Boston Cream Pie donuts available every Friday in July, this bakery uses cultured butter to give its ultra-fluffy dough a slight tang that complements the Valrhona dark chocolate glaze and vanilla pastry cream filling.
Omg! Delicious! Beautiful! Fast ! Friendly! Decently priced! Great variety! I could go on and on! Went everyday of the NCTE 2024 Convention! I LOVE this place! I’m definitely getting on the plane home with Chocolate Muffin and a California breakfast sandwich in my bag 😎

The best egg/avocado toast I’ve ever tried, seriously!!! The staff is also super nice. Todos muy amables
Helena M — Google review
Nice coffee spot in the Omni, accessible through the outside. The iced coffee latte was great, one of the better lattes I've had. The California sandwich was delicious. It tasted great, was very fresh, and the flavor was amazing.

If you like the vibes of being inside a hotel with a mostly dark palette… it’s a neat place, otherwise you might feel a bit intimidated. We stopped for a coffee (cortado) which was more like a latte but whatever. Uncomfortable chairs and somehow loud, restrooms are neat. We didn’t try any pastries because they looked stale.
The E — Google review
Cocorico Boston is such a hidden gem! I stopped in for a caramel macchiato and a bacon, egg & cheese, and everything was absolutely delicious. The caramel macchiato was perfectly balanced — smooth espresso with just the right amount of sweetness — and the sandwich was warm, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is modern yet cozy, making it a great spot to grab breakfast, enjoy coffee with friends, or get some work done. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick even during the morning rush. Convenient location in Boston, and the quality here definitely stands out from the usual coffee chain. If you’re looking for great coffee and breakfast in Boston, Cocorico is a must-visit!
Raquel G — Google review
Wayyyy overpriced. $48 for two lattes and two breakfast sandwiches. For a 10.50 dollar latte (milk alternative, flavor, and extra espresso shot) i was veryyyy disappointed. The milk was not steamed properly and was super bubbly, burnt, and not silky smooth at all. To charge that amount for a latte - please train your Baristas properly. The pastries looked stale so we didnt go for it. Also .. insane to see how many gloves were used to grab pastries. All for health and sanitation but insane to use a singular use glove each time you grab a single pastry. Surely, they make a special tong for that, no? Very wasteful. The two positives: they were very fast considering how busy. (Though not very friendly) And secondly the breakfast sandwich tasted nice but overpriced in my opinion. Wouldn't come again.
Emmanuel R — Google review
Wannabe French cafe that doesn't even reach the ankles of the real deal. We just paid 22 dollars (tip not included of course) for two pains au chocolat and a small cappuccino, to even have to eat it on a small napkin on a dirty table in a noisy environment, because apparently for that price you can’t even get a normal plate and clean table here? Staff is not friendly at all and atmosphere is not warm or welcoming. Come to Europe, pay 7 euros for this and get a nice cosy vibe, clean plates, tables, and a real, porselain mug. Gosh, what a scam.
Laura T — Google review
Very nice pastries and friendly staff. Prices were on the more expensive side. We had the almond croissants ($8)

Lakon Paris Patisserie in Newton has been receiving rave reviews, and for good reason. The Nutella Banana croissants are a must-try, with their crunchy texture and rich flavor reminiscent of Parisian desserts. Despite its small size, this patisserie is a gem for pastry lovers. Visitors have praised the delicious and beautifully presented pastries, particularly highlighting the matcha red bean croissant and kouign amann.
Drove a few times from RI specifically to this bakery. They are running of many items very quickly. Glad that we can order some items prior and pick up on weekends. A bit on expensive side. The special croissants are great! Love their pastries too, not crazy about their cinnamon buns. Would be nice if they add more layered pastries like opera cake that offer more texture.

This place is an absolute gem. We ordered a pistachio mascarpone croissant and monkey bread with double espressos. The croissant was absolute perfection! It was incredibly beautiful, with flavor to match. Delicate and rich, without being overly sweet. The monkey bread was delicious as well, though the croissant was definitely the star of the show.

Friends have graciously shared with me during a quick visit to Boston. It is so delicious!!! The flakiness of the pastries and the perfect capture of savory and sweet still stays with me. They certainly specialize in croissants! Although I haven’t walked in here in person, the packaging of the pastries speaks to the elegance and care that is put into baking these pastries! I’ve been so blessed!
Michelle C — Google review
The croissants here are absolutely excellent! Flaky and buttery, they’re such a treat. The espresso drinks are also very high quality and well prepared. The place definitely gets busy, but the line moves fairly quickly nonetheless. Overall a wonderful cafe to enjoy a croissant and cappuccino!

I was recommended by a close friend to try the pistachio croissant and this by far was the best pastry I've ever had in my life! So good in fact that I grabbed a few different pastries for my friends & family to try 😭💯 The pastries are huge and super fresh! The workers inside are super friendly and provided amazing service, 10 stars!!!
Manny L — Google review
I’m officially obsessed with this bakery! Their croissants are next level - buttery, flaky, and filled with the most creative flavors I’ve ever seen. Pistachio mascarpone is my favorite. Highly recommend stopping by!
Alisa S — Google review
Got there early and it seems I just beat the crowd. Wanted to try everything in display, but had to calm myself.. Must try at any bakery is the plain butter croissant. $4.50 love the rich buttery flavor, texture however was dense rather than flakey crisp I was expecting. Pistachio croissant $9.50 heavenly pistachio creme fillings! Not overly sweet, just perfectly fluffy creme. Again the croissant seemed not as airy, perhaps it has to be heavier texture to complement all the glaze and nut toppings. Regardless it was our favorite of all we tried today. Hazelnut cube croissant $9.50 this from the photos intrigued me the most. Rich chocolate covered cube was more like a pains au chocolat than croissant. It sure was packed with rich decadent flavor but was it worth $9.50 price tag? Not quite sure. Basque cheesecake $9 creamy cheesecake with hint of sour note, but wish it were little more burnishy? Ham & cheese croissant $6 was perfect for breakfast with coffee. French roast coffee $3.25 Only 2 tables available for dining in. This location seems to work for takeout only, and parking is scarce.
Jk K — Google review
They were out of all the flavors I wanted to try but that’s okay! I think the pastry would be good warmed up—I just went later in the day so that may have been why.

Maria's Pastry Shop is a charming, family-owned Italian bakery located in Boston's North End. For over 30 years, Maria Merola has been delighting customers with a delectable array of traditional Italian sweets such as cannoli, torrone, and marzipan. The shop is renowned for its top-notch cannoli, featuring a thick and smooth ricotta filling nestled in perfectly crunchy golden shells.
This is it. The search is over. Cannoli!!! Italian cookies!!! Get in my belly. Tears in my eyes. Did you know they ship cookies? They know how to do it. I enjoy the comments about people saying the ladies are not friendly. Pull up your pants! You are in Boston!!!

Small Italian bakery shop. You can pay in Card, only if the bill is above 10$!They are known for Italian sweets and pastries. However, they don’t have much sitting arrangements and not even a restroom! The ladies seem a little unfriendly ! However, the Boston cream pie and other pastries are good. The lobster tail was big and too sweet for me. However, I would recommend the place for cannoli. Stop by, if you are around.

Third Cliff Bakery, located in Jamaica Plain, is a popular spot known for its exceptional coffee and delectable baked goods. The coconut cold brew is highly recommended, and the assortment of treats behind the counter includes kimchi- and cheddar-filled croissants, savory focaccia, sweet brown butter Rice Krispie treats, grapefruit olive oil cake, and more. With its first brick-and-mortar location after years of selling at farmers markets, this bakery has gained a loyal following.
Favorite neighborhood bakery! Love that they have vegan options (and also don’t charge extra for almond, oat, soy milk). My favorite is the orange cardamom morning bun (vegan). Second favorite is the blueberry muffin (vegan). Reasonable prices.. and absolutely delicious!
Toyoko O — Google review
I’m not vegan, but I still thought the pastries were excellent. Highly recommend the Orange Cardamom bun — they don’t skimp on the cardamom. The street corn croissant was also quite good. I thought the kimchi cheddar croissant was only okay (didn’t get much kimchi flavor), but it was still an interesting combination worth trying. Super inventive pastries; definitely come by if you’re vegan!
Irene Z — Google review
So yummy! Lots of vegan options - I got the street corn croissant and the (non-vegan) brown butter chocolate chip cookie. If you like your CCCs soft and sweet, you’ll like this one, not so much chewy and crispy. I went around noon on a Saturday and there was only one person ahead of me in line, nothing was sold out, and it was easy to find a place to sit.
Maeve W — Google review
We got the vegan Orange cardamom morning bun, cherry chocolate scone, and focaccia bread with basil. All three were incredible. Perfect texture for each and they all had great flavor. Only disappointed that I didn’t get more. Will definitely be going back!

Parna S — Google review
I've been on a bakery rampage lately, and Third Cliff Bakery was next on my list. I always go at opening, and this was the first time a bakery had a line before doors even opened, which surprised me. Doors opened right at 8 AM, and the overall wait wasn't too bad (~10 minutes). There is timed street parking out front, and the inside has a few tables with high ceilings and a nice mural. I ordered a few items to share: - Kimchi & Cheddar Croissant: I was most excited about this because it was a unique flavor, but the inside didn't actually have that much kimchi. It wasn't bad, though--just didn't wow me as much as I wanted it to. - Buttermilk Family Croissant: This croissant was also just okay. Very flaky. - Pain au Chocolat: I liked this one. Can never go wrong with chocolate. - Orange Cardamon Morning Bun: This one was good, but the person I shared it with felt it was too cinnamon-y. - Pumpkin & Candied Ginger Cake with Maple Icing: I liked this. I would have preferred if the icing was less sweet, but the cake was very moist. Overall, I'm happy to have tried Third Cliff Bakery, but it wasn't the best of the bakeries that I've checked out recently (maybe I'll try a drink next time). I do think the prices are a little bit on the lower end relative to the pastry sizes, though, which is nice.
_ — Google review
I don't usually write reviews, but I have just been blown away every time I've gone to Third Cliff Bakery over the course of this summer. I ordered something different every time I went and there has not been one item I did not enjoy, even when I was skeptical about it. Today I had the street corn pastry and it was phenomenal. The people working there are always super friendly as well. Sometimes there is a long line, but the wait is totally worth it.
Melissa R — Google review
Great coffee and even better baked goods. The only downside is that the line takes so long to move. Everyone gets some local chitchat with the wonderful folks who work there which extends the wait time. You will almost always see a line out the door because of it. It’s hard to say that this is a downside but someone expediting the queue will help with the wait.

Customers praise the delectable Santa Sweet cupcakes, which are not only visually appealing but also incredibly tasty. The staff's exceptional service and patience have left a lasting impression on visitors.
Update on last review - went back today so my kids could try. The owner Taylor was there and was so nice. It was great talking to her! She also told me there is a location in Hyannis. We tried the new s’mores cupcake which was delicious. I will keep recommending this place to everyone! If you are in the area, it’s worth a stop! First time in here and it was a cute shop. The woman Victoria who works there was super sweet and helpful. The cupcakes were delicious and so cute. I will definitely be back. They even sell individual candles which is so helpful

Little Miss Cupcakes is pure joy in cupcake form! Each treat is perfectly baked, beautifully decorated, and absolutely scrumptious. The flavors are fun, the frosting is dreamy, and the whole vibe is just as adorable as the name. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth and a love for all things cute!
Janet Q — Google review
Pretty good cupcakes, though nothing special especially for the price. I really liked the lemon one! Kind staff and all the flavors are displayed nicely
Jun S — Google review
A very cute retail location that sells cupcakes, candy drinks, and other confectionary delicacies. It seems like it was founded by a girl named Taylor who has a degree in marketing and a minor communications who also located birthdays in events and essentially aspire to be a baker, if you’re on Newberry Street and you’re looking for a suite you’re gonna have to go into this place and check it out because it has a pretty cool design and also.- CUPCAKES. There’s also a picture in here of Steven Tyler eating cupcakes, which is pretty interesting because he is from this area. Or at least his band was created. Unfortunately, the cupcake was dropped in the ground by mistake by my daughter, and they were unable to replace it for some odd reason and I find that strange considering that it’s not cheap but what are you gonna do?
Anthony D — Google review
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - "A Sweet Revelation!" Cheerful Service: 🙋‍♂️ While the service at Little Miss Cupcape was pretty standard, the efficiency and friendliness were exactly what you'd expect from such a charming bakery. Vibrant and Inviting Decor: 🎨 The decor strikes the perfect balance between playful and tasteful. With its vibrant colors and whimsical touches, it creates a delightful backdrop that complements the sweet treats. It's exactly what you'd hope for in a cupcake shop, appealing to both kids and adults alike. A Culinary Cupcake Delight: 🍽️ I’ve always been skeptical about cupcakes, often finding them too dry or overly sweet. However, Little Miss Cupcape completely changed my mind. The strawberry cupcake I chose was adventurous indeed, featuring a moist, cake-like base that carried the flavor beautifully. My girlfriend, a cupcake aficionado, went with the classic vanilla upon vanilla and confirmed it as a top choice. The quality here goes beyond the ordinary, making each bite a delightful experience. Reflecting on the Sweet Experience: 🤔💭 Little Miss Cupcape is not just a bakery; it's a destination that turns skeptics into believers with its exceptional approach to a simple classic. The atmosphere is as sweet as the cupcakes, making every visit a treat. Final Thoughts and Sweet Endorsements: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - "Transformative Treats!" "Little Miss Cupcape doesn’t just serve cupcakes; they serve up joy in adorable little packages. Converted a cupcake skeptic? Check! Will return? Absolutely!" Whether you're a cupcake lover or just looking for a delightful spot to brighten your day, Little Miss Cupcape is a must-visit on Newbury St. 🧁💫

Breadboard Bakery, located in Arlington, is a must-visit for pastry enthusiasts. The bakery offers consistently delicious pastries and creative specials that are not overly sweet. Daisy and her team use locally sourced freshly milled grains in their loaves, resulting in a distinct flavor. Additionally, they offer 100% whole wheat bread that is highly recommended by regulars. The bakery also gives away their sourdough starter for free upon request.
Excellent local bakery. A little, pricey, but the product is good. A line forms each morning that they're open for people to buy boules, muffins, kolaches and more, or to pick up online orders. Pre-orders have to be submitted a couple days in advance (see website for details). I think one of the big attractions are the kolaches, which are filled pastries you'd like if you enjoy danishes. They disappear fast.
Ed H — Google review
Best bread in the area. Beats Iggy’a, Pigs Flly, WF. Not cheap but most succulent flavors. The whole wheats and sunflower rye is the most amazing , seeded sourdough is the most wonderful smell when fresh.
Bertram L — Google review
Recently relocated and thrilled to discover this fantastic, authentic bakery just a block away! As a sourdough enthusiast, the olive bread here is unparalleled – moist, brimming with flavorful green olives, and boasting perfect crusts with a hint of caramel. It stands out on its own without any additional spreads or toppings. Even my partner, who isn't usually a fan of sourdough, took a huge slide. Also got croissants and other pastries, all 100/10. Our dog also received a treat, which he enjoyed so much that he held onto and finish it until we got home.

Breadboard is our go to local bakery because of their utterly delicious baked goods. Soft, flavorful kolaches. Great, moist muffins. Crunchy on the outside - soft on the inside cinnamon rolls. 10/10 for flavor. There’s a line that forms outside so you do have to wait a little but luckily everyone in Arlington is friendly and sweet :)

Can I put 10 stars in the review? bakery are exquisite . daisy and Nina was super duper sweet and nice. We love strawberry rhubarb pie , chocolates croissant, cheese, Rhubarb cheese& cookies phenomenal.

Wonderful local shop. Seeded sourdough has a chewy, pleasant texture and is indeed chock full of seeds! Lamington was a total surprise with its sweet raspberry jam interior. My daughter also asked for a cup of water and was surprised that the owner also gave her a small pull apart baguette loaf on the house. Will def be coming back soon!
Max X — Google review
I decided to check out Breadboard Bakery because I was already in Arlington for Butternut Bakehouse, and the two places are within five minutes of one another. I went ten minutes after opening, and there was already a line, but it moved relatively quickly. The menu is cutely displayed on a clothesline by the door, which is also where you order. I was bummed that we weren't allowed to go in and actually see and smell the pastries, as that is part of the fun of visiting bakeries. I got the glazed cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant, cranberry kolache, and cream cheese kolache (which is also the order in which I'd rank them from most to least favorite). The cinnamon roll had a nice flakiness, and the glaze was addictively but not overwhelmingly sweet. The chocolate croissant was interesting because there were thin chocolate bars that lined the inside instead of melted chocolate. (Granted, the chocolate did melt when I reheated it, and it tasted better that way. Maybe that is the expectation, but the croissant loses some of its flaky goodness when reheated.) The cranberry and cream cheese kolaches also tasted better reheated, but they were just okay overall. There wasn't much of a difference between the two; the cranberry one just had a plop of cranberry jam on top. Had I known, I would have tried a fourth pastry instead of a second kolache.

Veteran baker, Daisy Chow and her husband, Josh Glaser, opened Breadboard Bakery just months before the coronavirus outbreak. That their bakery has survived and thrived in this challenging environment is a real testament to the quality of their baked goods and adaptability. For my first visit to the bakery, I placed an online order and swung by to pick-up my goodies. Their pick-up system feels very safe and ensures everyone is thoroughly distanced at all times. Everything I have eaten from Breadboard has been delicious, but I must give a special shoutout for three items in particular. First, the miche which has both amazing flavor and a gorgeous crust. You will not regret ordering this bread - it’s delicious simply with a slathering of butter and a sprinkle of salt, or toasted and used as the base for the NYT’s ‘Mushrooms on Toast’ recipe. Also, it freezes really well so I suggest ordering extra. The second item I would flag for special attention is the kolache, a Czech treat widely popular in Chow’s native Texas. Her version of this bun is soft and pillowy, topped with jam and/or cream cheese - and, IMHO, absolutely scrumptious! Final word to the wise: don’t miss the cinnamon roll! Breadboard’s cinnamon roll is unique in that it is made with laminated dough, like a croissant. I got mine glazed which I would definitely do if you are going to eat yours immediately. Next time, however, I think I might order some unglazed (available by special request) and freeze them so I can reheat them on demand (whipping up a little glaze myself). Summary: delicious goodies to be had at this local bakery! Highly recommend.
