Restaurant
Famous Door, located in Kita ku, is a special place known for its great cocktails and dinner menu. The bar has a cozy and relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff, making it an ideal spot for casual drinks or an amazing dining experience. Visitors rave about the excellent cocktails and the must-try Po Boy sandwich. It's described as feeling like a loggia rather than a typical town, offering a unique and welcoming ambiance.
A hidden gem of Sapporo! Come for a cocktail stay for the dinner menu! We worked our way through the drink menu. The service was great we loved the atmosphere! You need to try three styles of mojitos! Highly recommend we will visit again!

Live music venue
The bar is a jazz gem, where Ryo Fukui used to play. It's a small and intimate space with regulars who are all friends of Ryo-san. The live music was terrific and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.
Never thought I'd find myself in a jazz bar in the middle of Japan but here we are and I'm sure glad of it. They actually had my favorite Scotch here and the music was great. People were friendly and the setting is very small and intimate. You can tell they know their stuff in honoring the greats of Jazz and Blues. If you are wanting a little break from the typical day in Japan look no further.
Kole C — Google review
Wow,wow, wow. I walked into this place and immediately knew I was in the right place. The ultimate jazz vibe. Fantastic service and musicians were amazing.
Ken P — Google review
Slowboat is the ultimate bar when it comes to the jazz vibe. The entire vibe of the place is legit on point, and it just gives your life such a great pause and escape when you step into its universe. Adding on the jazz performances that takes places by local artist that just hits all the right spots, you will not want to go home any time soon for sure. The drinks are all legit (I ordered at least x8 sake the entire night) and the crew was attentive and friendly. If I am a resident of Sapporo, I am definitely making this my regular hangout, that's how much I love this place. Slowboat wa saikou jazz bar desu!
James A — Google review
This is how to do it (although I wish there was no smoking). 3,500 yen gets you two sets (around 45 mins each); you need to buy one drink per set (we got wine and mocktails, 700-800 each), plus they give you snacks (crisps and chocolates). Music was tight, the musicians charming and fun, all in a small package (the room can fit perhaps twenty people). The schedule seems to vary day to day with musicians working in various different combinations (the owner said they have twenty different players through the month). It starts at 8pm so don't be late! Second set starts at 9:15.
Adam B — Google review
One of the best jazz clubs in Japan 💗 If you enjoy live jazz you have to visit the Slowboat. It's a privilege to hear music where Ryo once played. Each night, different performers each create beautiful sounds with normally 2 sets. There's a schedule out the front. You'll feel welcome from the moment you enter. 4th floor.
Bryce — Google review
Quant little jazz room in Sapporo. The jazz trio I saw was excellent. Prices are reasonable and the snacks were very good. Especially the little chocolates!
M J — Google review
A highlight of visiting Japan for me and my favourite jazz bar I’ve been to anywhere. Went both nights I was in Sapporo. Amazing musicians, everyone is so friendly and Yasuko the owner is the loveliest person ever. Thank you from Guernsey 🙏
Ben M — Google review
Excellent live jazz music but be aware there’s a 3500 yen cover charge. Without that charge I’m sure it would be too crowded to ever get in.

Southern restaurant (US)
Banquet hall
Bar
BUDDY BUDDY is a restaurant and bar located just a short walk from Sapporo Station, offering a diverse menu of generously portioned dishes inspired by the southern U.S. The establishment boasts an American-themed interior adorned with memorabilia, and it regularly hosts live music events. In addition to its extensive drink selection, including beers from around the world, whiskey, and sake, BUDDY BUDDY also features a free American pool table for patrons to enjoy.
Buddy buddy has a great selection of drinks and food, and the service was excellent. We felt welcome from the second we walked in, and the bartenders were friendly and very fun. The pizza was a highlight from the food we ordered, and the Hoegaarden beer was a stand out on draft, as it is very rare to find!
Lyndsay D — Google review
A group of 9 people visited on a friday night with a reservation. We booked a table oj the roof top to celebrate a birthday and the staff was very supportive and helped to put the cake in the freezer. One of the staff spoke English. The food was good, but the non-alcoholic drinks weren't that great.
Bhanuka S — Google review
Delicious American style food. A good option if you want a break from Japanese food. Also great for drinks and dates as it is different to other places in the area.
Gabriel G — Google review
Had the Hokkaido Beef Carpaccio, which was really good, but kind of a small portion. Their own beer, Dix No. 5, was not bad at all.
Hans L — Google review
Second Update: Well, we did come back (post State of Emergency) and had a great time. There were some service hiccups, but our pizza, burger, tacos, and pasta were spot-on! Good Goose Island draft beer too! ———— Update: We came back to give the food another try. Unfortunately, our chicken with “cream” gravy and nachos were quite sad. Not worth the price of the meal or the ¥500 otoshi. We won’t be back. ———— Five star service; three star food. We loved the atmosphere and the very friendly service and found our pizza, wings, and salad to be solidly “ok.” Very fun atmosphere and a perfect spot to meet friends after work.
Zachary H — Google review
Fun atmosphere and great staff. We had pizza and wings. I had a couple craft beers and my wife had the sangria. We left nothing on our plate. We enjoyed everything!

These are quiet, friendly, elderly man-owned establishments. He lets you just be and enjoy the music, which made me feel very at ease. His impeccable taste is evident in the walls covered in vinyl collections. I really enjoy finding places like this one by chance.

Randomly found this Sapporo hidden gem and has no regrets going in. A beautiful bar with cozy and well decorated interior. The owner has a massive collection of records from which he picks and plays tracks as he makes drinks for patrons at the same time, the waitress serving me was really awesome! The 2-hour drinks deal is insane for the yummy cocktails menu they offer, I didn’t make the most out of it as I was in a hurry. But next time I’ll sure to revisit when I come back to Sapporo!

The place looks really nice. The owner is also very kind and friendly. If you’re looking for nice jazz bar in Sapporo, i would definitely recommend this place
Ka N — Google review
Someone wrote in their review it is a hidden gem. Well, I can attest to that. The musician support fee is 2800-3300 ¥ depending on the night and the performances are 19:30, 21:00 and 22:30. It only fits avout 25 people, but the atmosphere is extremely cosy due to that reason. The pianist and the bass I saw were very talented. Food and drinks are reasonably priced and nicely presented. Visited 2 nights in a row so strong recommend. (ps located in the basement B1, not floor 3 as Google Maps says)
Ylar K — Google review
This is a hidden gem. Great vibe even if you are not a jazz enthusiast. You pay a cover but think of it as paying the musician/s as time owed for learning the songs, etc and not as I have to pay to enter. This is how they earn their living after many years of learning their craft and you will feel better about what you pay. We had a great time and I recommend it to any music tragic like myself.
Jamie A — Google review
On the last day of our trip, I visited with a friend. We experienced an amazing performance. And the vibes was really good. The piano, drums, and bass were all fantastic. I definitely want to visit again on my next trip.

Excellent Jazz Club, excellent atmosphere and service ; i love mainstream jazz and I enjoyed pianist solo or playing duo with double bass or sax tenor.
Vincent S — Google review
At first the music charge seems a bit steep but it is a small place so they aren’t going to make it up on volume of alcohol sold so if it let the musicians get paid properly it is well worth it and on top of that the cocktails while simple a well made and I would say on the cheaper side. I think the price balances out and you get to hear a very talented jazz trio and enjoy a couple cocktails

Got told that it was alot of people inside, but the place where empty, paid 2400 Yen and it was a waste
Thomas S — Google review
It was an expensive club. Cover is 2000 yen for men and 1000 for women. We came on a Saturday. It had some sort of local celebrity in there, and it felt like everyone came to see her. Barely anybody danced, and the DJ simply would not shut up. It's just... not a fun place, I guess? Had more fun at the Utage (which is free for foreigners). A hard pass.
T N — Google review
Pricey entrance. Extremely frugal alcoholic beverages, a shot of anything, like tequila is maybe 15-18ml when typically it is supposed to be 21-25ml. More chaser than alcohol in cocktails. Sometimes ok music? But Mediocre performance by go-go dancers. Booty and Utage are much better.
Hugo B — Google review
Frankly speaking, I think it‘s strange that no one in the store is very high.
Elvis — Google review
Paid 3000yen for this club and it's rubbish. The music is the same stuff again and again. Every seat in the club is forbidden and guarded by a bouncer. Even standing in front of the bar for longer than 10 seconds you are approached and asked to move. The drinks are 99% mixer 1% alcohol. And there is seemingly no chill out place where you can sit and talk to your friends for a bit. I'd recommend Booty over this place anyday of the week.
Jobo S — Google review
Worst front desk staff. So rude. He has to learn some manner how to talk to a customer. We called and asked if it was free or not for SNS member (women) during weekdays to confirm before going there. And the staff said it’s free and it’s written free on website as well. But when we went their, the front desk staff said no, it’s not free. We told him we called before we came but he keeps on repeating it’s not free.
Kit S — Google review
Same music over and over. Drinks are mixers with a splash of alcohol, not worth the money.

Live music venue
If you're seeking a top-notch music and dance venue in Sapporo, look no further than 札幌SOLID. This establishment hosts new live musical performances every week, so it's advisable to check the schedule beforehand. The sound quality is excellent, the stage is spacious and elevated, and the staff are accommodating. Additionally, the dressing room and front area are well-maintained with amenities like hair dryers and refrigerators.
I went to a metal show (Ark Royal) and was very impressed with the sound quality. Obviously a lot of that is on the band (they're great!), but the sound system there is high quality and the sound guy knew his stuff.

Because it is small, there is a comfortable sense of distance and bond between the performers and the audience. The stage side is wider than the audience side, so even when guitar and bass players move around and turn their necks, they don't bump into other members or equipment, making the lively performance even more visible to the audience. I think this is a LIVE house that has a synergistic effect in that it gets the message across and makes the LIVE itself more exciting. (Translated by Google) This is a live house where you can eat and drink. It is divided into a food booth and a live booth, and the live booth is non-smoking. Smoking is not allowed in the common entrance and exit and food booths, so there is a strong smoking smell and smoke. Part of the Health Promotion Act will be revised from April 2020, so I asked if it would be a no-smoking policy or completely separate smoking areas, but since all of the staff are smokers, since the concert organizer doesn't request a ban on smoking during concerts, He says he has no plans to quit smoking. In the unlikely event that smoking areas are separated, non-smokers will be exposed to second-hand smoke as they will only set up a part of the smoking area instead of creating a separate smoking area. Even if you just wanted to go and enjoy the live performance, you would be forced to smoke from the entrance/exit, and I was disappointed to hear the comments from the staff members who did not even take measures to prevent passive smoking. In line with the trends of the times, I would like to make guest rooms non-smoking, or if they have separate smoking areas, I would like them to take measures to prevent passive smoking. Live music venue
LIVE HOUSE SPIRITUAL LOUNGE スピリチュアルラウンジ is a fantastic rock venue located on the north side of Tanukikoji, offering an intimate live-house experience. Despite its small size, it provides a great platform for artists and hosts events like open-mic nights with multiple sets. The venue's capacity is said to be 120, but it's so tiny that even 15 spectators can make it feel moderately full.
Fantastic, intimate live-house experience. Went on a Wednesday evening for what seemed to be the equivalent of an open-mic night. Was treated to six 30-minute sets, for 2000 yen (all you can drink included). Don't get me wrong, two of the acts were pretty terrible, but overall, really great quality of artists. And by "intimate," I mean the place is super tiny -- it was moderately full with the 15 or so spectators near the end (note that 4-5 were performers). But that made the evening all the more fun. Def recommend to anyone visiting town.

(Translated by Google) A certain site said it had a capacity of 120, but it's so small that if you put that much in it, you'll run out of oxygen! There are no lockers, so keep your belongings to a minimum or leave them in the lockers at Aurora Town. But that's how close I am to being an artist, and it's a very good place to be. A place that makes you think that Sapporo's culture is born from small live houses like this. It was over capacity, so crowded that I couldn't even breathe or move, so I ended up leaving halfway through. I thought it would be a good idea to restrict admission and make up for it through streaming. Rather, is it okay to put so many people in and comply with the fire regulations? There were too many people in there to the point where I felt my safety was in danger. Beggars Harlem, also known by another name, is a restaurant in Sapporo with a classic American ambiance. The establishment is known for serving generous portions of high-quality meat sourced from local ingredients. Despite the limited menu selection, visitors have praised the friendly and accommodating staff. Guests have enjoyed delicious dishes such as deer steak and reasonably priced drinks at this establishment before the pandemic began in 2020.

Don’t Miss this limited space, Romantic Jewel! The music is Jazz/Blues - The proprietor a wonderfully caring cook and mixologist. — For western understanding/translation, this is a specialty Steak, Venison and Pork Grill house with great drinks! - The Pork ribs are fat-on grilled. The Flank and Ribeye cuts are rustic, fatty and delicious. Hormone-Free, Imported meats - Australian sourced during my visit. The salads alone are worth a visit - simple and balanced works of fresh pleasure! Assume you will spend a good portion of your evening here and bring your best story telling and conversationalists along with you.

A unique bar in Sapporo. The building consist of three restraunts and Beggars Harlem is on 2nd floor. The owner runs the place on his own cooking, serving and handling everything behind the bar. Amazing guy and we will not forget Sapporo because of the experience. Had a steak and some salad. Slightly more pricey that usual places around but worth every cent sitting in such a unique setting. Might need to book in advance if you are going on Fri to Sun.
