The Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids is a unique and innovative museum that seamlessly blends natural beauty with fine art. The 30-acre Sculpture Garden features an impressive outdoor collection of sculptures by renowned artists, along with temporary exhibits. Visitors can also enjoy the Seasonal Light Experience, where the gardens are illuminated with captivating light displays for a magical evening stroll.
What a lovely place! We’ve been to many sculpture parks and gardens and this is one of the best! It’s laid out so well - you can walk (mostly flat) or take a narrated tram (for $8 fee). It was so clean and well-maintained. They were testing an on/off tram during our visit which was a nice option on this unseasonably warm fall day. We visited the sculpture park (great collection of art!), farmhouse area, Japanese Garden, waterfalls area and boardwalk. The children’s area looked like it would be really nice as did the tropical garden - saved for another visit if we’re in town again!

Absolutely beautiful. We are here for the autumn night on Tuesday, but have spent the day here too. We took the tram into the sculpture park area, not worth the price you pay for 1/2 hr ride when you can't see most of the sculptures! If you are here to see these amazing sculptures then skip the expensive tram ride. Plan on spending the day here, there is so much to see. If we lived in the area we would definitely get a membership. Looking forward to this evening. Music, lights and more. I'll add more pics later if I can. We were blessed with a beautiful fall day and evening. Beautiful evening, perfect weather.

We have been to several different gardens in different states and this place is in the top 3. It was very easy to get too. Had no problems with traffic getting to this location. The parking lot was easy to enter and plenty of spots near the main entrance. They have a kiosk or front desk to buy tickets. No line at either. We only pay for the tickets not parking or maybe the parking is included in the ticket price but I feel it was a great price. This place is extremely large and there is lots of ground to cover. You could easily spend the whole day here. They have a gift shop inside. They have a very large amount of unique sculptures. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. I cant say enough good things about this place. You have to see it for yourself. Highly recommend!

Spectacular! Stunning collection of sculptures! Incredible gallery space! Be sure and see the documentary film before you tour the garden. Great place for anyone!! So beautiful and the staff are the friendliest and best!! We were fortunate to see some wonderful special exhibits! Loved our lunch in the dining room! Great gift shop! So thrilled we got to see this amazing property! Thanks to David for a very informative tram ride around the property!

Recently I visited the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids. It's truly a fascinating place. It has numerous indoor and outdoor gardens, including a children's garden, as well as a sculpture park. The highlight to me was the Japanese garden. It is absolutely lovely. There is also a cafe and a gift shop. The park requires a lot of walking but they do provide both a tram and a shuttle for those who can't handle all the walking. This is definitely a don't miss Park.
Sharon L — Google review
A well-maintained incredibly beautiful and relaxing 158-acre botanical garden, art museum, and outdoor sculpture park with walking trails throughout. Visiting is an adventure, similar to going to Disneyland, except more relaxing because you are surrounded my nature. There is also plenty of parking and you can easily spend a few hours exploring. Be sure also to see the gift shop before leaving.

Our family has loved coming to Meijer Gardens for over a decade now. Every season brings new displays and views all around the grounds. We have brought friends and family here from all around the country and it’s always a crowd pleaser. A must-see in the Grand Rapids area. Great for all ages in all seasons.

These gardens absolutely deserve a 5 star rating. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable docents are located throughout the area. Great displays, sculptures and tours offered. The grounds are immaculate! We thoroughly enjoyed and will return!!

Hot dog restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Restaurant
Yesterdog is a beloved local hotspot in Grand Rapids, known for its classic hot dog offerings and vintage-style eatery. The restaurant has gained widespread recognition and numerous awards for its delicious hot dogs, which are affordably priced. Visitors can soak in the nostalgic atmosphere while enjoying their meal and admiring the hundreds of pictures adorning the walls. Yesterdog's popularity extends beyond Michigan, with patrons from around the world proudly sporting their Yesterdog t-shirts.
Came here on my last night in GR and I don't regret it! I got one of each type of hot dog (besides the veggie dog), and it was a flavorful experience. The best ones were the ones with chili in them. The restaurant is fast casual - they quickly take your order and they make everything in front of you. My friends all said it was the best place in town to get hot dogs, and I can't say they're wrong!
An P — Google review
Classic hot dog joint that is well worth the money you spend. - Cheddardog - $3.80: Simple chili and cheese dog, but oh so good. The bun is great quality. The dog is fresh and juicy. The chili was fresh and good, but a bit liquidy and sloppy. The cheese was just right. It was served on a plastic glove, which was odd. My son and I both agreed it was well worth the price. It is a no brainer. The value is phenomenal. No wonder this place is famous. - Service: Immediate, fast, and helpful. They were to the point, but still asking questions to be sure I didn’t miss anything (chips and drink). They did not pressure at all, were super helpful, and kind. The dog was ready almost before I paid for it. - Atmosphere: Old diner feel. Has a lot of graffiti and carvings on the walls. There is a very old vinyl jukebox. It looks like it still works, but I cannot confirm that. It has the feel of being worn and tattered with age, but still fully functional and kept up very clean. The neighborhood is a bit questionable. I don’t remember there being music played, but it could have been. - Conclusion: I think most of Grand Rapids would agree with me. You need to visit this place once if not make it a regular hang out. It’s worth it. Visited on a Friday at 9pm.

Ok so I heard a lot about this place! A staple in East Grand Rapids forever! Has a rich history on the wall, stories and people’s lives! Many people grew up here! I did not. The atmosphere and decor was cool, vintage and you’re able to scribble your name or whatever and add to the history! Nice! The Hot dog toppings, chili and Kraut, pickles were good and welcomed, being different. The quality of the hot dog itself was HORRIBLE! I’m just being honest! Small and not flavorful. I am glad I tried it and had the experience. I even left my Mark! But the mark it left in me was not one I will be experiencing again! Try it once for yourself, maybe you grew up on it and that’s what you expect from a hot dog! But not for me! Best of wishes to the new owners! I met them! Nice people and I am sure they will have continued success since their following is established, just not for or from me! Unless a hot dog change is in the future!
Alpha E — Google review
Hands down the best chili dogs I've ever had. I love the nostalgic decor. It's too bad people have carved their names in the tables and walls over the years. But they have left it that way and it has become a part of its history.
Sherryl D — Google review
Haven't been here in 6 or 7 years. Thought I would come back here with a dear friend. The man that took our order was rude to my friend & to me. Cockey attitude! The hot dogs were barely cooked & small. The hot dogs aren't that good. Their hot dogs are enough to feed a small child, not adults. Have to pay for parking just to eat there, too, outrageous. Never used to have to pay for parking. It's not worth it. We won't be back. I had to come home & eat cause I was still hungry. Not the same as it used to be years ago. Brought some cheddar dogs home for my husband. He didn't like them either & noticed how under cooked they were, too.
Carol M — Google review
Yesterdog is a staple in Grand Rapids! They have the best chili dogs you’ll ever have! The service is quick and the food is delicious. There was no line when I ordered and before I paid my food was ready! Just know you need cash, they don’t take debit cards. Even Obama has been here, check it out!
Michaela T — Google review
Ok… there is something odd about giving this place 5 stars- all they sell is like hot dogs 5 ways, ultra dog, yesterday, dog, cheese, dog, veggie dog, plain dog, fries and pop…but here’s why that works. Whatever they do to the hot dog… just taste freaking awesome! I personally have them place LIGHT toppings on because the dog is small, not beefy and big. The toppings make the dog! This place is full of nostalgia and the staff are super cool. Very fun to talk to and they like their job, I assume they must be paid well and owner must be super respectful of staff because all the employees have always been kind complementary of the owner in full of Yesterdog pride. I am told this is a landmark. Looks like it inside. It’s not modern, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Definitely check this place out sorry I don’t have any pictures my sons and I ate the dogs before we realized it! I’m telling you these little dogs are magical!
Monica S — Google review
Hadn’t been there since teen years and first time bringing the family. The people who work there are great— funny, take care of you, and friendly! The new owner came over and gave our littles a quarter for the gumball machine. Little moments like that are so cool to see! Thank you, Yesterdog!!

Conference & Convention Centers
Van Andel Arena, located in downtown Grand Rapids, has been the home rink of the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey franchise since 1996. This multi-purpose arena with a seating capacity of over 12,000 hosts a diverse range of events including big-name concerts, family shows, and community events. It is also one of the main venues for the annual ArtPrize competition that attracts thousands of visitors to experience innovative works displayed throughout the city.
Took our 2 boys to their first concert! Van Andel was the perfect venue to go to! Staff was all very helpful and kind. Seating was great. Kids had an amazing time. We watched: Periphery, Mastadon and Coheed and Cambria
Jessica S — Google review
Van Andel has always been a great venue. Large enough to hold big crowds but small enough to not be stadium size. Lots of food and drink options, heavy on the alcohol choices. (I’m sober so overpriced water and pop were my options.. Atleast what I found) The downfall, leaving the arena is packed, there wasn’t a good direction for people to know where to go and the hallways were standstill for quite awhile after the show let out. Letting people know there are back exits is needed to help with the flow of traffic.
Emi M — Google review
Beautiful venue with great acoustics but the seats are horrible. I'm 5'9", 170 lbs, and I barely fit in my chair. Zero leg room. Forearms sore from rubbing on the built-in cup holders on the tiny armrests. Big guy next to me spilling over into my seat. Would have been more comfortable standing for 3 hrs.
David I — Google review
The venue is very nice. They even served wine. The sound system was fantastic, and that D J was just off the hook.
Denise G — Google review
Amazing views for concerts, a lot of food for the price, but the worst part was the seats. I could not sit comfortably because I am a larger man. I had to stand or sit on the arm rest of the seat(luckily no one was next to me.)
Chunusi — Google review
Great place to go to for concerts, and hockey games. I’m there a few times a years. Easy parking right across the street and the food options are decently priced for the type of venue it is.

Went for Matt Rife. They run a good ship. Everyone is professional and keeps things moving. We sat on the floor. I'm a fatty, but my daughter isn't and she even thought the seats on the floor were cramped. The sound on the floor makes it a little difficult to make out everything a comedian is saying. All that said, good venue.

Rosa Parks Circle is a vibrant public plaza located in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Designed by artist Maya Lin, the 3.5-acre park features a striking sculpture called Ecliptic, representing water in its various forms. The park hosts numerous events throughout the year, including concerts, cultural festivals, and free dance classes. In the winter months, visitors can enjoy ice skating on the rink at Rosa Parks Circle.
Rosa Park Circle is definitely one of my favorite spots for entertainment in Grand Rapids. It’s an open air feeling many free artist to see various events from musical events to art events. You can meet and see some of the entire community there… very diverse!! there is a clean restroom nice little waterfall and the sound is really good. Great views all around.!

I absolutely LOVE rosa parks circle, i have been going here since i was a baby and it’s been a local gem for a long time. It’s great to go get some food or froyo and walk around, but it’s even better when demonstrations are held in support of our constitution, freedom, and democracy! 🙏 it’s great to see the city get together to spread some love and good trouble.

Had a great time at Rosa Parks Circle. There was a great gathering of locals in the area for the free concert being held. Everyone was super friendly. After finding a spot to sit down, so many locals came by and started providing me with free local second-hand herb. People sure know how to kick it here and relax.

Amazing place to visit and gather in all of Grand Rapids, MI. Centrally located to any and everywhere you'd like to visit. Day or night.
Dominic C — Google review
Kind of the central hub of Artprize. They had a stage set up with a DJ. Vendors were selling art and dogs were standing around, waiting for affection. The main drag for restaurants, fine candy and ice cream. No restrooms, unless you buy something from the surrounding businesses. Highly Recommended
Vid 1 — Google review
The food trucks and entertainment is nice every summer but the prices charged by the food trucks aee ridiculously! Cost too much for the food portions and quality of taste that they provide! It's crazy that they are charging double the amount for food that have low quality taste, sorry not sorry! Go try it for yourself then come back to this post and tell me what your experience was like.

Middle Eastern restaurant
Greek restaurant
The Pita House is a local eatery that offers a range of delicious Middle Eastern dishes in a casual atmosphere. This establishment is known for its gyros, kebabs, shawarma, sandwiches, and more. It prides itself on being vegetarian-friendly and provides convenient delivery services. The staff is quick and friendly, ensuring excellent service to customers. The interior of the restaurant is well-maintained and clean.
My Fiance and I went there for a date after my doctors appointment. It was our second time there. I got the Falafel made traditionally and he got the beef kefta pita made traditionally. Bought two containers of Baklava and enjoyed a wonderful Turkish Coffee. I can't wait to go back the third time. They even serve you at the table after you order at the counter. I also need to add that you have a huge selection of drinks in the cooler when you walk in. Try the little brown bottle of Ginger beer. I didn't get a Picture but it's there. You can't miss it.

I just stopped in for the first time and had an amazing experience. I got the Shawarma Platter for 2 people and it was just the right amount of food. They were super helpful with my order and even brought us plates when we decided to eat outside. Food was amazing. People were great. I will 100% be back!
Brittany S — Google review
With two people on staff they did an amazing job at keeping up with orders!!! The woman making my food was super friendly even when she seemed like she didn’t have time to breathe. Friendly smile on her face. I appreciate their hard work and very yummy food.
Amanda N — Google review
I am very conflicted while writing this review. I have loved Pita House for a long time and I am a frequent customer. The prices have been on the higher side for a while, but i always felt they were justified as the food is amazing and I wanted to continue to support this family business. I truly feel their shawarma platter is the best in the city. However, I noticed the prices have been recently raised again, with a Shawarma platter now being $24 in-store and $25 on UberEats. At this point, as much as I love the food, I quite honestly cannot justify spending that much on one entree, at least with the frequency I have been up to now. Thus, I will likely be eating here much less, which makes me sad. I understand the economy is hard for restaurants, especially in GR, and they must do what they need to do to stay open. However, I hope they look into other ways to slim down margins other than raising food prices.
Delta G — Google review
I was born in Dearborn, Michigan. I spent my entire career working in Detroit Michigan. This is some of the best chicken Shawarma I have ever had beyond delicious the spices. Oh my God, the freshness oh my God, the portion huge.

Really good Mediterranean food in Grand Rapids. I swung for lunch while working at a building nearby. I had a swarna wrap and it was really good. The service was fine. Nothing special but good enough. The food did come fast which is nice. The place has a lot of good stuffs and other oddities for sale which is kinda cool but it's not very attractive or on theme. Also the "dining" and ordering area feel like they just moved in. If that's the case I can see this place being amazing with a remodel inside. I do recommend the food. It was really good. Give them a shot.
Joseph S — Google review
I want to add important update: The last time we went there was two months ago. We forgot my husband’s lumbar support. I called them after two weeks (because it took time to remember where it could be lost), they said they have it. Because of work and crammed schedule, we couldn’t pick it up until last week! Frankly, I suspected to find it after two months. However, they kept it for us all this time. I appreciate that! Indeed, great service. Everything is halal except the gyro. Their Greek fries is fabulous! We ordered it twice. Fried mozzarella sticks are really good as well. Of course, shawarma, kabob, and burger are so delicious. The place is pricey really, we don’t go there often. The service is great.

The Dog Pit is a casual, counter-service spot that offers a variety of hot dogs with creative toppings. The staff is friendly and efficient, making the ordering process quick. Customers have enjoyed options like the Bahama and Wild Hot dog combo, which can be customized to suit individual preferences. It's described as a hidden gem best visited after a night out, offering an extensive selection of toppings for building your own hot dog creation. Some recommended choices include the Colby Dog and Mad Dog.
Friendly and attentive staff , fast ordering speed. Came here after watching the Womans World Cup at nearby Rosa Parks Circle. I ordered a Bahama and Wild Hot dog combo with potato salad. I was impressed with the spiciness of the jalapenos and hot sauce of the wild hotdog ( they do give you the option of not putting on the jalapenos or hot sauce ) and the Bahamas dog had a sweet taste to it I was highly satisfied with my visit and would come again

This is a magical hole in the wall gem that should only be entered after having multiple alcoholic drinks. I normally get the Colby Dog and Mad Dog and depending how bad of a decision I'm trying to make I'll add on a third wildcard dog. It's an absolute must for me after a long night of bar hopping whenever visiting Grand Rapids.

Restaurant
Social House Kitchen and Bar is a lively venue located in downtown GR, offering traditional pub fare, brunch, and happy-hour specials. It features a seasonal patio and hosts DJ-spun tunes most Wednesdays through Saturdays, with occasional live bands. The menu boasts bold flavors, original combinations, and creative presentations that can be mixed and matched for an international dining experience. Customers have praised the Big Pretzel as a must-have item along with Truffle Fries and Margherita Pizza.
2lb pretzel did not disappoint! It was the perfect appetizer for our group. I went on to order the Social House Burger and wow. It was a little hard to eat with the cheese smothered on top. However after flipping the bun it was quite delicious and manageable. I'd definitely go back if I was in Grand Rapids again!!
Alex R — Google review
Cool little spot downtown, had a gigantic pretzel for appetizer!! It was served with mustard, cheese, and cinnamon butter (that was not so great). It is seat yourself which was fun to watch right before a concert but also quite efficient. Tables turn over alright and there is some outside seating. Decorated well, prices were reasonable. Our waitress was good and the location is nice downtown. Men’s restroom was down at our visit but they do also have 2 unisex stalls and a women’s room. Maybe worth a visit if your are in Grand Rapids, fries are crispy and good but slight sweeetness which is odd and unique.

Went there for Halloween this past Saturday (November 1st) got there at 7:30 pm and was given a blue bracelet and was allowed entry. The bouncer NEVER told us they expire at 8pm. We end up leaving and bar hopping for a while before we decided to come back around 11pm we waited in line for so long, my friends started to have to use the restroom really bad and I had met some people in line and because I had already gotten a blue bracelet earlier in the night I thought I was allowed to get in, so I told them to go find a restroom and I'd wait, the line had been barely moving so I figured they'd be back before I got in as well. Well of course as soon as they leave the line starts moving fast and suddenly I'm at the front and the bouncer tells me he needs my ID, and that's when I realized I did not have it nor did I have my phone. I showed them my bracelet and they kept telling me those expired at 8 and if I had no ID I had no entry. So I stood by the bouncers and waited because I'm not from the area at all, and I didn't have any way of finding my friends and I wasn't about to try and go find them, I figured I was safest there. I had asked someone while I was standing there if I could use their phone, but they said their phone was in the DJ booth and they didn't have it. So then I turned to the bouncers and asked them another question and I explained my situation and they just kept saying no ID no entry. I could've used a manager or they could've offered me some kind of help or smthing, they clearly did not care, and I did not know what to do, so I just kept standing there and waiting for my friends to come back. Then this guy comes up to me and starts making really uncomfortable remarks about my body and starts touching me and making me super uncomfortable. I asked him if he had a phone and he said he did not, I asked him where the bar was that my friends were at and if he'd take me there because I felt like that was the only option I'd had, looking back I know it was dumb, but I was thinking I guess I'd endure the creepiness for some help at this point. As we started walking he got more handsy and wouldn't let me go and kept trying to get me to go to his car. Luckily, some kind bystanders stepped in and the guy immediately took off. I'm not sure who the bouncers were that night or if they work for this establishment outside of this, but it's extremely disappointing that they cared more about not letting people in than anything else. I wasn't rude, I was extremely nice and very scared, I could've used some kind of help I didn't need to be allowed in, but they could've done something for me and they did not. I was in there earlier I had shown them my ID and I was not told that my wristband expired or else I definitely wouldn't have stayed waiting in that line. If this is how business is conducted especially when it comes to nightlife, then you need to do better.

We hosted our Engagement party here and let me tell you, everything was immaculate! Rebekah helped plan our event and it was so special! Our waitress Anya is the best and we are so appreciative of her hard work paired with all of the hands that prepared the food! The atmosphere, service, food, overall experience was amazing! 10/10 recommend!

Impeccable food. The staff is clearly trained to get people in and out before a show or a Griffins game at Van Andel Arena. If you're going to the arena and want to grab dinner or drinks first, Social House is a great option. I had an old fashioned and it was literally perfect. We decided to try the elephant ear. It was absolutely enormous. Couldn't finish it. We didn't have the pizza, but plenty of other tables did and it looked pretty stellar. I had the social burger, which was super messy but very unique and tasty. Prices are pretty reasonable for a joint with a location like this. There's a parking ramp nearby for the arena, so expect to spend 12 bucks or so just to park.

the bouncers and staff allegedly laugh at girls getting roofied and also did NOTHING to assist my friend who was almost sexually assaulted right in front of their own eyes. WOMEN STEER CLEAR! perpetuating rape culture in 2025? be so serious. can’t see this place staying open for too long.

Seafood restaurant
Located in the heart of Grand Rapids, Leo's Seafood Restaurant & Bar offers a delightful dining experience with its artfully presented seafood and romantic ambiance. Since 2004, this premier restaurant has been committed to sourcing fresh, quality ingredients and crafting exquisite menus. Voted as the best seafood restaurant in Grand Rapids, Leo's is a top choice for those craving delectable seafood dishes.
We picked Leo’s a couple days before coming to Grand Rapids. We were seated right away , recommend making a reservation, and we were about an hour prior to it filling up. Dan our waiter was a total pro, and all the rest of the staff were great and never gave us a need to ask for anything as they were are spot on. We had Mussels and Calamari as appetizers. They were both great. The quality and freshness were outstanding and both were cooked perfectly, and tasted amazing. The entrees, Charred Scallop’s, and Shrimp and Lobster linguine were just awesome. Cooked and seasoned to perfection and came out steaming hot. Never sat under a warmer. The portions were nice too, as you can see in the photos I have attached. I need to mention again how wonderful and attentive Dan and the rest of the staff were. Just wish Leo’s was closer to our home so we could go more often. I can honestly say this was the best food and experience we’ve had since before COVID hit. I highly recommend making Leo’s as a must try restaurant. It’s worth the drive you will not be disappointed.

One of my all time favorite places, and I dont even live in Michigan, so that should tell you something. Leo's has the best seafood experience. I love the Alaskan Salmon. They have amazing bread and desserts. High class venue is perfect for big celebrations. Even the bathrooms are high class!

We attended the Mother’s Day Brunch and enjoyed the experience greatly. The surf and turf was amazing, crab deviled eggs were a unique addition to the menu that we loved. Once seated we were served almost immediately, and food was brought out promptly. Both of our waitresses were 10/10. The only reason we are not giving a 5/5 star rating is because when we arrived, we were lead to a table, then brought back to the front as our table was not actually ready.

This was our first visit to Leo's, and we will be back. The ambiance was quiet and sophisticated, the food was elegant, and the staff was top-notch. I had the salmon wrapped scallops with asparagus, and it was cooked to perfection. I only wish we lived closer to go more often

Excellent food and service. The key lime pie, seafood pot roast, crab cakes and scallops were amazing! No wonder this restaurant is highly rated. I'll fly back to GRR just for this food!

Leos is an amazing upscale resturant that is totally upscale but totally relaxing and friendly. Not only was the food very high quality and delicious, we surely had the best server ever...Avery. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. My husband likes finding good resturants and he read about Leos. Just so happens we also love Michigan so we planned a mini vacation for our 32nd anniversary around Leos and it was definitely worth our 6 hour drive. Incredible food...Steak and lobster. Sea bass (thanks to Avery suggestion). So delicious. A scallops hor de vores with mango salsa and a free celebration sundae. Perfect evening Le

Fantastic restaurant. Make sure you get a reservation. Yes it’s pricey, but you get what you pay for: amazing atmosphere, food, and service. Highly recommend.
