1Amway Grand Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton

Hotel
The Amway Grand Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton is a luxurious hotel located in downtown Grand Rapids. The newly renovated Celeste Salon & Spa offers a range of beauty and wellness services, with indoor and outdoor relaxation spaces, steam rooms, saunas, and access to the hotel's pool and fitness center. The hotel boasts traditional rooms with scenic views and complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as five restaurants for dining options.
Lovely views, beautiful food, and everything you need on-site. Plus who else has lighted steam resistant mirrors in their bathrooms? Also very quiet because the rooms are so well-insulted. Staff are super nice. Valet treats you like royalty. Nice decor. Beds are so comfortable! It's all very fun and highly recommended.

This is a great hotel. My wife and I have stayed here several times over the years, mostly for work conferences. The location is perfect for shopping of exploring different restaurants downtown. If you are a runner or like taking walks along the river front, this is a perfect spot. I highly recommend the river view rooms for the view of the sunset alone. The rooms have small bathrooms and the towels were not as plush as would have expected, but the view is amazing.

The bars and restaurants within this hotel are incredible and the service matches, don’t get me wrong. The valet service was also one of a kind and helped us with a special circumstance to accommodate. But the great service and accommodation ended there. Be careful of what room you book. Most don’t come with anything often considered to be standard: no microwave, no ice bucket, no refrigerator. I can expect all of these things at a basic holiday inn for $200/night, so I definitely didn’t expect to not have them at a hotel I paid $400 for. Lastly, we ordered food to be delivered to the hotel. We got back from our event too late one of the nights to eat within the designated restaurant hours (understandable! It was a Tuesday.) The food got delivered but we didn’t get a single notification of such from the front desk; not even a phone call. It wasn’t until we called the place of business we ordered from that they told us it was delivered 15 minutes prior. When I went and asked the front desk the gentleman informed me it was “my job to check on that”. Still feel like he could have picked up the phone to call. Overall, not what I’d expect at all from such a beautiful and amazing looking hotel; especially for the price.
Kelli B — Google review
This is a nice hotel in the heart of downtown. There is plenty of places to eat and enjoy yourself in the immediate surroundings. It is a short walk from the Ford Presidential Library, and about a 10 minute walk from Grand Rapids New Holland Brewing location and other unique shops and dining locations. The rooms are descent sized, clean and quiet. We stayed in room 2181 which had nice floor to ceiling windows on two walls with a nice view of the city. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with plenty to do, this is a fun place to try.
Travis M — Google review
I have been staying here with my wife for a long time. Customer service quality has let me down lately. Valet is awesome. Front desk is not polite and condescending. Cant take towels from pool to rooms is very Cannot order drinks to the room. No late check out each time i ask for one. Edited, (reason at the end of review): Spa never answer phone calls. I cant say this enough but nobody can beat Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria (I know its part of Hilton). But at least Amway should try to beat JW Marriot across street customer service. Lastly, General Manager refuses to call me to discuss these issues. Edited 10/15/25 “The General Manager reached out to me on the very same day, and I could really sense his genuine concern about how I was treated and the poor service we experienced. It’s clear that he cares deeply about his customers and is committed to making things right. I appreciate his efforts and look forward to returning soon”.

This is a nice hotel and it's right at the heart of the city. You can easily walk to the local hot spots or can a short ride. The rooms are a bit small for my liking and in an antique style. Everything this else, amenities, service, etc. is great. I would come back again.
Aaron P — Google review
I've stayed at the Amway twice now for GrandCon and it was a wonderful experience both times. The rooms are always clean and I love that they have a complimentary refrigerator because of all the delicious restaurants in the area. It's a gorgeous place and I just love being in that building. Highly recommended. Next year I'll try to take pictures and update.

Disappointing and Unaccommodating Stay We stayed here while attending a convention and had a really disappointing experience. First, we were not given the room we requested, and when we asked about it, staff told us all those rooms were already taken due to a busy week. Then, the hotel bar was completely closed off for a different private convention, and when we tried to order drinks to take up to our room, we were told we couldn’t because we didn’t have a seat in the bar area even though we were unable due to another scheduled event. It felt unwelcoming and poorly managed, especially for a well decorated hotel that regularly hosts conventions. We expected much better hospitality and communication for paying guests, and have had a great experience in the past. Would not recommend staying here if you’re attending an event and expect to be treated fairly.

Extended stay hotel
Located in downtown Grand Rapids, the JW Marriott Grand Rapids is a top venue for weddings and events. With multiple event rooms, including one that can accommodate up to 1500 guests, it offers the services of Marriott Certified Wedding Planners and convenient amenities such as valet parking and a wedding planning app. The hotel also boasts an upscale location near popular attractions like DeVos Performance Hall and Van Andel Arena. Guests can enjoy spa treatments, an indoor pool, and sauna facilities during their stay.
The JW Marriott Grand Rapids is a solid choice if you’re looking for a nicer, upscale Marriott experience in the area. The rooms were clean and well-maintained—everything felt in good working order, which is really all you can ask for. The staff was friendly and professional, and a few team members stood out for being especially helpful without being overbearing. One thing worth mentioning: the duvet on the bed was surprisingly comfortable—warm, soft, and perfect for a good night’s sleep. It’s a small detail, but one that made the stay more enjoyable. Overall, it’s a well-run hotel with good service and a comfortable setup. Nothing over-the-top, but definitely a reliable and pleasant place to stay.

I recently spent two nights at this hotel while in the city for work, and overall, I had a great stay. Parking was easy with both self-parking and valet options available. The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the lobby was spotless with a fresh, pleasant scent — a great first impression. My room was beautiful, modern, and very clean. I especially loved the cozy corner sofa and table, which made the space feel more like home than a typical hotel room. The bathroom was well-equipped with both a tub and a standing shower, though the sink area was a bit smaller than expected. I did try the on-site restaurant — while convenient, the prices were on the higher side and the food was just okay. If you have other dining options, I’d recommend exploring those instead. There’s also a Starbucks in the lobby, though be aware it closes at 2 PM, which was earlier than I’d hoped. The mini market downstairs was helpful for quick snacks, but I was expecting a wider selection. A highlight of my stay was the housekeeping staff, especially one kind lady I encountered twice in the main lobby. She greeted me warmly every time, even called the elevator for me — truly a standout in terms of hospitality. I also took advantage of the gym and pool, both of which were very clean and well-maintained. Unfortunately, the sauna was closed for maintenance during my stay. My room was located near the elevators, and it did get a bit noisy, especially with music playing in the hallways late into the night, which made it harder to fall asleep. Despite a few minor inconveniences, I’d definitely consider staying here again. The cleanliness, comfort, and friendly service really stood out.

I visited for a conference at this hotel and spent two nights. The room was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful bathroom. I especially enjoyed the bathtub as it was quite deep and worked well for my larger figure. The only complaint I have is about the pillows. I ended up having to use three as they have no body to them. I had read another review describing them as being full of sand. That's a pretty accurate description.
Lisa K — Google review
Perfect experience. The room was so well appointed that I was writing down info about the coffee maker and the shower fixtures. Great views. Awesome location close to many many restaurants all within literally a couple of minutes of walking.
Matt R — Google review
Spent the weekend at this property, no complaints here. The room was big and clean, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the grounds were spotless. The property is in the heart of downtown, lots of restaurants within walking distance. We attended a medical school graduation that was held in the grand ballroom. The meal was delicious and the serving staff were very professional and attentive. The gym had just enough equipment for a great workout. The pool was heated and indoors. Due to my titanium status, I had access to the lounge on the 23rd floor. Unlimited drinks and snacks were available, and I must mention how awesome the Saturday morning breakfast was. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids! The hotel has recently been renovated, and the room was beautifully designed with every accommodation you could hope for when away from home. The valet staff was incredible — they were always on the move, quick, friendly, and so eager to help with anything we needed. Their service made our stay seamless and truly enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

This was our first time staying in downtown GR. Our business meeting was in another part of downtown but we simply used the Skywalk to get us there. This was probably the 2nd nicest hotel I ever stayed in. Rooms are top notch. The view is top notch. Service was top notch. My only small concerns were that the distance from the parking ramp to the desk is quite a walk (valet available but I'm too cheap), only one person working the desk when we arrived (long line), and noise in the hallway past 10 pm (we had a meeting to get to early the next morning). All in all though a great experience.
Rick S — Google review
Check in was smooth, the room looked and was amazing. Staff on check in day was really friendly. Parking garage was very confusing for some reason. I already knew I had to pay to park there for in and out privileges which sucks but I understand - it’s downtown. I will sound dumb here, but I could not figure out how to exit. When you get to the bottom when entering you can exit but it felt like I was going down the wrong ramp. Maybe I did not go up enough levels to find the sign that said ‘out’. When checking out, I drove down the ramp to leave the garage - again, not knowing the correct way to get out. I drive slower and of course even more slow since I wasn’t sure. The first valet guy I passed stopped but didn’t say anything. When I got to the exit, the other valet lady almost hit me. She had enough room to go around me but instead did not. Just so others who do use valet, you’d think some would not just whip around full speed in there in case there’s another person like me who just somehow is a little slower on figuring out this garage. Be careful with your vehicles especially as a renter. Everything else was perfect.

Hotel
Nestled in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, Canopy by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown is a trendy hotel housed in a contemporary loft-style building within the Studio Park development. The hotel boasts retro rooms with modernist-influenced decor and Amish-crafted furnishings, creating a chic and dog-friendly environment. Situated amidst an array of breweries, restaurants, bars, and cafes, this lifestyle hotel offers guests easy access to local attractions.
Loved it! Going to the GR? Appreciate mid-century modern aesthetic? This is your place. The rooms are great-comfy beds, lots of pillows, motion censored lighting with dimmers and lots more. There is rooftop bar and restaurant where we had interesting craft cocktails and a really delightful breakfast and lunch spot where we had delicious fresh breakfasts. I cant recommend this enough
Carole H — Google review
Nice rooms. Modern, functional and fairly spacious. The room could have been cleaner especially the bathroom. The tiles in the bathroom are black but you could tell they haven't really been mobbed in quite some time and I saw hair throughout the bathroom which is understandable it's very difficult to remove hair but it's not pleasant when you find it. In addition the modern room had electronic drapes that didn't work which I'm not surprised after thousands of guests fiddling around with controls they probably break often. The good news was you could still manually close them so no problem. The main issue I had is the lack of service The towel service happened I think one day and never again even though I asked front desk can you refresh my towles it only happened after my 3rd request. Other than that the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was okay about a 10 minute walk for most things and it felt very safe so overall a decent stay. One last thing the highlight of this hotel is the rooftop bar. Great service wonderful atmosphere overall good vibe.

For a tour bus night stop, this is pretty solid 4 hotel. It has a modernistic mid-century theme; beds are low; great shower in our room. The provided hot breakfast was a 3 at best . . . It will hopefully get you through to lunch if you are too picky.

I’m in town on a business trip and have had such a great experience at the Canopy, thanks to Britney at the front desk. She’s been incredibly friendly and helpful the entire time I’ve been here. One moment that really stood out — it was raining and I didn’t have an umbrella, so Britney actually lent me her own personal umbrella so I wouldn’t get soaked heading to my meeting. That kind of kindness and thoughtfulness is hard to come by!
Odalys G — Google review
The room was beautiful and workers were wonderful, but the room didn’t have a refrigerator. I called to check on that and they had an ice box. I asked the housekeeper how to use it but she didn’t give much info aside from the ice being a few floors down. We filled the ice up twice in the less than 24 hours we were there and it leaked everywhere. You should get real refrigerators or at least have instructions on how to use them. Also appreciated no fragrance in the hotel.
Jennifer L — Google review
Super cute hotel, the rooms were nice and the beds were comfy. Jayla (I hope that is correct) at the front desk was wonderful and super welcoming overall. We will definitely be coming back because of the hotel atmosphere and customer service as a whole. The restaurant upstairs was nice and the drinks were great!
Rachel W — Google review
Super clean rooms. I love that the floors are tile instead of dingy carpets. Easy to get around. Walk just about anywhere or you can take the free city shuttle called DASH. Save yourself from uber ride costs. Staff is great. I agree with some of the reviews that the food cost was a little high. I had the grilled cheese at Knoop, came with chips but not homemade chips. The sandwich was great. The restaurant downstairs was ok. I didn't care for the thyme flavor in the breakfast sandwich and although it was 2 eggs, it was a little too much egg. Too thick. I also had no idea the sandwich came with roasted breakfast potatoes which portion wise was almost the equivalent to two potatoes. That's too much in the morning. My main complaint was my neighbor, I think they were in room 540 that woke me up at 2am. They sounded like they came back from a bar and were arguing or playing games in the room. Sounded like their kid was running up and down the hall as well. I had an early flight and although myself and another neighbor banged on the wall for them to quiet down, they didn't go to bed until 3:30am which was when I needed to wake up. I'm running on 2.5hrs of sleep. Could have really used the extra 1.5hrs. Crazy to think people don't realize that everyone is asleep at 2am and maybe yelling down the halls, running and being extremely loud in your room cussing and whatnot, isn't neighborly. I get migraines when I don't have enough sleep. Anyway, this was a super super nice hotel. The shower alone makes me want to remodel mine at home. Great water pressure and super hot. The bathroom mirror has the right lighting for doing make up. One more - The outlets next to the bed shut off when the lights are off. That is something I wish they could change because my phone wasn't charging all night.
A L — Google review
Canopy is a beautiful hotel with a stunning lobby and restaurants, but beauty alone doesn’t make a four-star property. There are several finer details missing that really affect the overall experience. Pros: Gorgeous lobby and restaurant spaces Attractive rooftop bar area Friendly and welcoming front desk and coffee bar staff—they were a bright spot in the overall experience Cons: Service Issues: While the front desk and coffee bar ladies were fantastic, the valets were often on their phones or simply ignored guests. When we arrived with several bags and struggled to get the door open, no one offered to help. Other front desk staff members were frequently on their phones or joking around instead of greeting guests. Rooftop Bar Access: While the rooftop bar is beautiful, there’s no way to use the space outside of business hours. It doesn’t open until after 3 PM, which limits its appeal as an amenity. Safety Concerns: On the 8th floor, one of the two doors is always unlocked because of a draft. I accessed the floor multiple times without using a key card, which is concerning for guest security. Location: Although it’s downtown, it’s closer to the rougher side near Heartside Park. All of these might seem like small things, but they add up and keep this from being the special experience you’d expect from a true four-star hotel. The property itself is beautiful, and the front desk and coffee bar ladies were great, but if you’re looking for exceptional service and attention to detail, this might not be the place.

We had an amazing experience with Embassy Suites Downtown Grand Rapids for our wedding hotel block! From start to finish, their team was organized, accommodating, and so easy to work with. They made the booking process seamless, ensuring our guests had a stress-free stay. The rooms were spacious, clean, and perfect for getting ready on the wedding day. Our guests loved the comfortable accommodations, and the complimentary breakfast was a huge plus! The location was also ideal—convenient for everyone and close to all of our wedding events. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and we couldn’t be more grateful. If you're looking for a hotel that’s comfortable, convenient, and provides top-notch service for a wedding block, we highly recommend Embassy Suites Downtown Grand Rapids!

A beautiful hotel. Rooms are huge and very clean. We stayed just one night, but we we're very pleased with the cleanliness, the comfort of our bed, and we loved our balcony overlooking the river. The breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. They have fresh omelets that you can order and are made right in front of you. They also had a nice variety of hot breakfast items on the buffet, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, muffins...anything you would want for breakfast. It was very nice! The sports bar attached to the hotel was very nice as well.
Ashley F — Google review
I was impressed with the size of the room, which was in pretty good shape. There were some obvious signs of wear in the bathroom that I guess it’s due to moisture build up (peeling wall paper and some black staining around the shower floor edges) - there was no vent. The breakfast was decent. I was only there for a very short time for business, so I did not check out other amenities.

This place was so enjoyable and pleasant. A friendly welcome at check in really set the tone for a great stay. Plenty of areas to relax, sit around and enjoy. Room was clean and spacious and room service was always so prompt when we needed something. We appreciate the great stay and will definitely be looking to come back!!

This place is great. Its a modern hotel that use to be a 5 star hotel but now is a 4 star hotel because its not brand new anymore but its perfect. Rooms are huge. Breakfast is something you could easily pay $30 a person where I am from and its free. They also give you 2 drinks per person of an alcohol beverage every night for free. In my opinion this is the best palce in Grand Rapids I'd you want the best bang for your buck and still be in a clean modern hotel. Hotel has an excellent view of the river.

One of the best Embassy Suites that I have stayed. Only about six years old. Rooms were huge. Very nice shower with a rain head. Incredibly quiet rooms. Location is away from downtown but easy to grab an Uber.

This place is amazing! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The location was very close to all the activities of downtown Grand Rapids. Parking is convenient and affordable. Everything is secure and can only be accessed with a paid room key card. So it's a sense of security that allows you to relax and enjoy your time. Breakfast and happy hour was also amazing and on point!

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I got into my first room and there was these little black bugs all over. They let us get a new room, but even with a new room there was no signal so I could not watch tv. They also had no fridge or microwave in the room and when I said something you have to ask for a fridge and the microwave was in the middle of the hall by the ice. 🙄 Went when it was hot expecting to have a pool that was working but nope. Worst place ever plus side was moving to a different hotel.
Starly D — Google review
I woke up to getting bit by BED BUGS in room 145 right next to the pool. Immediately went to the front desk and they switched me rooms. Gave me a voucher for breakfast for Ganders which I already get because I’m a Diamond Member. But I was grateful she had no problem getting me into another room quick and in a hurry. Will be taking it up with the manager in the morning and request for a refund. The staff have been great so far. Just be aware so your keeping an eye out while your here.

I stayed here a few nights ago, and upon checking into my room I found bugs/flies on the telephone and flying around near the bed. When I spoke to management about the issue, they stated they didn’t see any flies in the room and refused to credit me for the room. Now if you’re going to charge $70-$80 more per night compared to the numerous other hotels in the area, then at least provide a clean, hospitable space. As for the manager, you made a bold statement by saying there was nothing in the room. I beg to differ. All future guests should see the photo below.

The first room they gave me was musty and had a malfunctioning air conditioning unit that had leaked water all over the floor. Front desk staff was very nice and gave me a new room which overall was in good condition, but had a loose toilet seat. Breakfast buffet at the restaurant was decent, overall a nice hotel and location, but maintenance seems lacking.

Room would have been 4 stars but no fridge took it down. But this place looks better on the inside then the outside. But I always stay at double trees when we travel. Gd cookies
B H — Google review
not up to the standard of a DoubleTree. yes warm cookie, but no fridge in the room, no ice maker in a reasonable distance ( reasonable being that I don't have to ask where it is). pool out of order. this location probably remains profitable only because of the association with Hilton and the proximity to the airport. next time I will try my luck with a different Hilton or use my Marriott rewards.
Michael E — Google review
Do not book here!!! The hotel is super old. Room had a very musty smell and the ac was extremely loud. No microwave/fridge in the room. Shower only could go very hot or cold. No coffee or cookie provided which is a double tree crime. Elevator was sketchy. We opted for the stairs every time. Staff was not welcoming. WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN

Extended stay hotel
Nestled in the heart of Grand Rapids, Homewood Suites by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown offers a delightful blend of modern comfort and historic charm. Housed in a beautifully preserved 19th-century building, this hotel features casual suites that cater to various preferences, some boasting stunning city views. Guests can unwind at the rooftop bar or take a refreshing dip in the indoor pool after exploring nearby attractions.
My sister and I visited Grand Rapids from the East Coast. We couldn't have chosen a better hotel! Prentiss was at the front desk when we checked in and out, and he was awesome! He answered all of our questions with a smile and showed us "Michigander hospitality". The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Parking was easy too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in a beautiful 2 bedroom, 1 King, 2 Queen suite with a bathroom in each bedroom. The restoration of the building was done with great taste, and the corner views were absolutely lovely, The location is convenient for dining, just a few blocks from just about everything, and the staff was friendly and helpful with any questions or needs we had. The pool was clean and a comfortable temperature for our kids to burn off their energy at the end of the day (open until 11.) The rooftop bar was a beautiful spot to watch the sunset (also open until 11). Breakfast was delicious, and the staff there were funny and friendly! I’d highly recommend anyone visiting Grand Rapids to book here!

Homewood Suites in downtown Grand Rapids absolutely exceeded my expectations! From the moment I arrived, I felt safe and welcomed—the hotel is in a fantastic location, close to great restaurants, shops, and everything the city has to offer, yet still peaceful and secure. The rooms are beautiful—spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed with everything you need for a short getaway or a longer stay. The building was an old furniture factory I believe and has gorgeous restoration while keeping an old feel. Especially the beautiful hardwood flooring! The kitchen area was a huge bonus, and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in a 2 bed, 2 bath suite with shared living space that had the feel of an apartment or Airbnb, with the convenience of hotel amenities. My husband and I brought my parents here and they were raving about this stay! The amenities are top-notch, too. The indoor pool was sparkling clean and a fun bonus, and the complimentary breakfast had a wide variety of options that were fresh and delicious. Whether you’re in town for one night or a whole week, this place truly feels like a home away from home. I will absolutely be coming back. Highly recommend!

My hubby and I stayed this weekend and it was quite nice! Location was perfect! He parked the car and we walked everywhere for the entire weekend! Free breakfast was “meh” at best. But the hotel is clean, bed is comfortable and location can’t be beat!!!

I recently stayed at Homewood Suites by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown. The accommodations were very nice—our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. However, the parking situation could be improved, especially for guests with mobility challenges. My 78-year-old mother with lung cancer had difficulty walking the distance from the parking garage to our room. There were very few handicap spots available, and I didn’t feel comfortable dropping her at the front entrance while I went to search for a parking spot. Often, all spaces on the hotel level were full, and we had to park much farther away than ideal. Overall, the hotel itself was excellent, but better accessibility and parking convenience would have made our stay much smoother.
Kerri M — Google review
Great hotel in a great location. Rooms are good size (we had a two bedroom suite) with high ceilings and hard wood floors. My only complaint is that it is not very sound proof at all. We could hear the people above us walking, we could hear tons of outside noise, and hallway noise. If you are a light sleeper, it’s probably best to talk to management about a room that would be more quiet (highest floor, inner from street).
Brandi T — Google review
Stayed here for an event downtown. We received a free room upgrade! The staff was courteous and helpful, the location is PERFECT - right downtown so walking is doable to wherever you need to go. Room and lobby were clean and cozy. Would DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the heart of downtown.
Megan J — Google review
Love this place! The salt water pool will change your life. The view from the rooms is so enchanting. Kind of a tricky set up for new guests to navigate, the building is a bit twisty but nothing unmanageable and fully worth the cost.

This modern establishment boasts an inviting indoor pool and a well-equipped fitness center to keep you active during your stay. Guests can also enjoy delicious meals at the on-site restaurant while staying connected with complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel.
Stayed for the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Updated, clean hotel with great amenities. Staff was friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the indoor pool and Jacuzzi and the shuttle that will drop off and pickup from any location within 2 mile radius. 2 queen room was clean and comfortable, little small but good uses of the small space with furniture. The free parking, shuttle & central location was the best part for us. 10/10 would recommend & stay again.

I got stuck here with a flight delay to go back home. Shuttle driver from the airport was very friendly and nice. Daniel at the front desk was very helpful and great customer service. I enjoyed the in lobby restaurant & bar, the bartender was nice, great customer service as well as drinks. Met with locals who also made my unexpected stay enjoyable. Rooms are a little dated but overall for the price next to the airport I would definitely stay again.
Felicia L — Google review
Great location (though it's currently surrounded by construction) with a LOT of road noise in the rooms and a staff that doesn't seem to care. We asked for a quiet room on our reservation and were giver a room directly overlooking the highway and a street next to it where people rev and race all night. When we mentioned it to the front desk clerk, she said it was actually in the quietest part of the hotel (even though the opposite corner overlooked a museum and a parking garage). Also disliked the entire Burger Theory setup, where the guy at the host stand would confront you if you even looked around the area where the hotel has snacks, coffee, etc. They need to figure out who is in charge of that area! It's a nice bar, and I didn't try the food, but everything in the lobby (including all the staff) made it feel very unwelcoming each time we passed through.

This hotel was perfect as we were going to an event at the Van Andel. We were able to walk and not have to deal with traffic. The hotel is in a great location. The beds were comfy, hotel was quiet and the staff was amazing. We will stay here again!!!

We always stay here for concerts that are downtown Grand Rapids for over 20 some years now. The venues are within walking distance, which makes it so convenient. But this trip there is a shuttle that will take and pick you up for free within a 2-mile radius! What a bonus! Staff here are very helpful and friendly also. You can not go wrong staying here.
Jo H — Google review
I stayed here with a family member for one night passing through Grand Rapids and it was overall pretty nice aside from the noise. The staff were kind upon check in and the room was very clean. The selection of different kinds of firm or soft pillows made the stay more comfortable. The only thing that made the stay uncomfortable was the location and how loud the highway was throughout the night. We were on the 7th floor facing the oncoming traffic so maybe it made a difference but it was a little rough. The TV doesn’t allow for screen mirroring but it has cable and movies to purchase for about $22. Very nice hotel but I would not stay again considering just how close you are to the freeway.
Dezirae H — Google review
Great room for a fair price. The place was clean with easy access parking. The pool was adequate and the hot tub relaxing. With the attached restaurant you had some options for on grounds dining. All in all a solid hotel.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Grand Rapids, Courtyard Grand Rapids Downtown offers a blend of modern comfort and convenience. Guests can enjoy an indoor pool, sports courts, and a delightful restaurant located in the lobby where you can savor quick bites or indulge in a crafted cocktail alongside your favorite Starbucks beverage.
We've had a great stay. The room is spacious. We got a king with a sofa, and right next to the giant window, it is a sweet spot to work or read. Bed is comfortable. Shower is good although the water completely went off as I was showering yesterday at 10ish. I went to the gym and when I came back, it was on again? One washer/dryer laundry room. Restaurant with good hours onsite. Decent gym. Very nice pool, good size. Best part is the sky bridge to the arena and Devos center. Right next to the blue pedestrian bridge. Short walk to art museum, public museum, FORD museum. I walked to the zoo and the Meyer May house (a Frank Lloyd Wright house). Parking is 29/day. Not a lot of shopping nearby, but plenty of restaurants.
Kat — Google review
Hotel is clean but dark & quite dated. Towels & bed linens are old & scratchy. Didn't sleep well with uncomfortable sheets & noise. Mobile keys do not work so don't waste you're time checking in online. You'll have to do it again in person. Gym was one part of hotel that was dirty. Cost for parking is a bit unreasonable @ $30/day on top of your room charge. It's a maze to navigate from parking to your room floor. Location is good in downtown; close to many hot spots.
Robyn R — Google review
I recently stayed at [Hotel Name] and had a few contrasting experiences. On the positive side, I truly enjoyed the convenience of the restaurant and bar located right downstairs. The location was fantastic, making it easy for me to get around the area. The cleanliness of the room needs to be mentioned as well and it was extremely clean. Each day the room was tidied up and I received new towels. However, I did encounter some challenges during my stay. Unfortunately, my interactions with the front desk staff, particularly with Amanda/Annette, left me feeling a bit underwhelmed from a customer service perspective. It would have been nice to receive a warmer welcome, which is often what one looks for when checking in after a long day. Additionally, I found the bed to be uncomfortable, leading to some back pain that affected my overall experience. As someone who travels for work frequently, I value a good night's rest, and unfortunately, I didn't get that here. Given that I travel to this area often, I'm considering looking for alternative Marriott properties for my future stays. I genuinely hope that my feedback can lead to improvements in areas that may enhance the guest experience.

Came for a wedding with 2 rooms reserved under block of rooms for our daughter's wedding. Reserved at a rate of $179 for 2 nights. Booked 2 rooms, 1 for my elderly parents that do not drive. Explained repetitively that I only need to pay for parking for 1 vehicle. They charged me for parking for 2 vehicles and overcharged the 2 rooms by $140.34 + the $60 in parking for a second car that didn't exist. I was reassured at check in that I would not be charged for an additional car and also that I would receive the discounted wedding block rate. After checking my bank I discovered that in total I was overcharged $200.34. Currently waiting for the financial division to call me back.

Thank goodness my company holds a corporate rate because this hotel is not worth the $300+ per night charge. The furniture and room is extremely outdated and worn. I have stayed at very lovely hotels in comparison to this for the money. I wish I could attach photos of the room from scratched and dented furniture to chipped / worn toilet seat. Time to update this Marriott!!
Holly H — Google review
This hotel would not provide me a copy of my hotel invoice after checkout. They offered me option of e-mail or physical copy and I opted for e-mail. After numerous occasions verifying my e-mail address and them telling me it was sent, I finally learned it went to a third party address, which they would not provide me. I made the reservation over the phone and apparently it was through a third party. I was planning to physically come and get a copy and they told me they would not give it to me. I'm done with Marriott despite being a long time member. Some of the worst service I've encountered in all my years of travel.
Kevin M — Google review
Nice pool, hottub, and has sauna (140°F). Exercise room is OK, nothing really for lower body weight training. No TVs, which is awesome IMO 👍👍. Keurig pods in the room (2 reg, 2 decaf). Breakfast is not included and lobby coffee is Starbucks (not complementary). Parking is expensive and obviously not included, though I was not told and only realized when I got the bill (hidden cost). You can probably park free nearby and use the skywalk, but I'm not from the area.

Everything was great , except the shower. You have to get in the shower to turn it on due to the glass door location on the shower. If the door was on the otherside you could reach it from outside the shower. Overall great stay

CityFlatsHotel - Grand Rapids, Ascend Hotel Collection is a modern and stylish hotel that offers a unique blend of historical architecture and contemporary design. It serves as an ideal venue for weddings, with on-site catering, unique suites for the wedding party and guests, and The Parlour salon. The beautiful ballroom can accommodate up to 200 guests.
I was reluctant to book because of the reviews saying we couldn’t change our AC in our room but we were able to control our room temp no problem. The guest service, bar and front desk were all wonderful and so accommodating to my party. They had great recommendations for food near us + the hotel is in freak walking distance of everything on top of being under 10 drive to most museums. The bathroom with the tub is Beautiful! One of the main reasons we stayed is for the bathroom. I will say the shower water was never able to get fully hot. Bath water was similar but was able to still enjoy it. If it was the same temp in winter I would probably have more issue.

The hotel is located right next to the Monroe Center Parking Garage, which is convenient. There is street parking as well, with free weekend option. There are several eateries and restaurants within walking distance, or you can take the Dash around town for free. The beds were very soft, comfortable pillows, and a nice eco friendly atmosphere. The standard amenities are offered, like coffee, toiletries, iron and board, refrigerator and hairdryer. The rooms are all based on type and view, but are large enough. They stayed pretty comfortable for temperature and ambiance. Staff is beyond amazing, professional and absolutely willing to assist. It is relevant the team cares and are hands down top setting the bar for other customer service venues. I didn't take any photos on this trip, but the examples are spot on for you room and view; I've attached mine. In fact, there was a wedding on Saturday in one of the banquet rooms, which was endearing to see how the party naturally flower with the rest of the hotel. Well done to all staff!!
Michele K — Google review
The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The beds and bedding are beyond luxurious. The room was very clean and thoughtfully designed. I was excited to have a view looking out onto Monroe street like in the pictures. I was shocked when my room had a view of a brick wall. On a booking site I read that there would be an artisanal continental breakfast. Unfortunately, that is not true. Parking is not validated and that cost me an extra $36. The reason I will not be returning to the Flats is that the air conditioning is preset to return to 70 degrees once the desired temperature of the occupant is reached. I have a medical condition that requires me to be at a room set at 68 degrees or below. I believe the thermostat also resets when motion is not detected, which makes sleeping very hot. The staff was very friendly in trying to remedy the situation, but ultimately didn’t have an override code for the thermostat. They did bring a fan up to my room to try to help cool it down. I really appreciated all the thoughtfulness that went into the creation of The Flats and the staff was exceptional. I know the Flats prides itself on being eco friendly and that is why they keep the rooms at 70 degrees, but guests should have the option of requesting a different thermostat setting.

The few employees we encountered were very nice and helpful. At check-in we were informed of Art Prize! We'd never hear of it. Very cool. Our room was very nice, cozy, comfortable, and informative. Check-out pics. TWO sinks with mirrors!! Awesome!! The shower, disappointed. Difficult to turn on, sprayed with cold water, and even with shower door closed, water sprayed and pooled on the floor of bathroom. Overall, very nice.

Honestly, such an amazing stay. Comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom, very friendly and accommodating staff. Our only one complaint is that one out of four outlets around the one bed worked. However, there is multiple outlets in the room anyways so no big deal. We will be staying again! Thank you!

This hotel is in an excellent location downtown Grand Rapids. There aren’t a lot of frills in the rooms but the prices are low and the rooms are comfortable. There is a bar in the lobby and so many great restaurants within walking distance. I applaud the hotel’s commitment to the environment.

This is a cute hotel with a friendly staff and nice, comfortable rooms. Parking can be quite high at the garage close to the hotel. Thankfully, a thoughtful employee tipped me off to a cheaper lot down the street. It was only a five minute walk back to the hotel.
Patty F — Google review
Very tiny rooms, 400 sq ft. Not even large enough for 1 person, let alone a couple. No television service elevator in garage did not work. No access had to walk around the block, with walker and luggage. Made NO attempts to resolve any of these issues. Best most disappointing thing was 400 - 500 sq ft for $400.00. plus $24.00 parking. Will not return Will not recommend for any reason. Anyone.

I gave this four stars because it was almost impossible to find the front desk to check in. There were no signs and it's not on the first floor like you would expect. The room was beautiful. It was so very clean and the room was cleaned up so well everyday. I like the fact that it was only one block from the place where we had our convention. 💗 I would definitely go back here again.

The toilet in our room would not flush properly and had to lift tank lid off each time to flush. The bathroom is small and towel rack is in the shower, which is impractical for showers. The floor between the two beds had stickiness and between the bed and wall was not cleaned and didn’t want to identify what was on floor, needless to say, keep shoes on. The breakfast was fair at best and not restocked in timely manner. Hotel website states bar; that is a generous. All in all; will not stay here again and would not recommend.

We drove from out of state to catch a show at the Devos Center. This hotel is in a great spot with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and just a few minutes walk to the main entrance. The room was very nice, spacious, clean and comfortable. It was everything I hope for in an overnight stay. Parking in the attached building was a plus. What set this place apart was the service. Every staff member was notably fantastic! Perfect stay!
Jake B — Google review
This hotel was just ok for us. We got the single kig bed on the 3rd floor. We had a building view and that building had a lot of windows. So our window shade was closed most of the time. They didn't have free breakfast, for the price of the room I wish they did. The parking was $38 a day. I'm not much for the city, the noise was horrible. Everyone night there were loud cars and trucks that echoed.

It’s currently 2:00am. I’m writing this from my vehicle where I’m sleeping for the night. I booked two rooms at nearly $500 each for one night, as we traveled down here for a concert. We returned to our room around 10:30 to get some sleep before heading home in the morning. The lobby was like a nightclub with a DJ and very loud music, which was alarming. But trying to sleep has been a disaster. The parking garage across the street and the road below our rooms are filled with people on loud speakers, yelling, tuned car engines and motorcycles revving their engines, for hours now. It is unbearable. There is nothing peaceful or comfortable about staying here. The only thing I could do was get dressed, head to my vehicle in a different parking garage and try to sleep here. It is much quieter. I told the front desk and they apologized, and I know it’s not their fault, but how has no one complained before? I held the door open so they could hear. I expect some sort of refund for resorting to sleeping in my car. For $500 per night, I expected a much different experience. Please note, all the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, the hotel very pretty and great location. But it’s also a bad location for expecting a quiet night’s sleep. I’m so disappointed, and exhausted. Just beware….if you’re here for an all-night party, you’ll love it. If you actually expect a great night’s sleep, not so much. Pic: The view from my ‘room’ in my vehicle.

This hotel is extremely clean on the inside and the rooms were very updated and well kept. The bed was very comfortable and water pressure in the shower was fine. Sadly, that’s where the positive ends. We went out to dinner and upon returning found a DJ in the lobby. Not exactly what we were expecting heading into the nighttime at a classy looking hotel. As the night progressed we could hear the music from downstairs and every car that drag raced down the street (we saw two police cars all weekend). While external sound is by no means in the hotel’s control, there are things that can be done to minimize the sound. I think we finally went to sleep around 2:30 in the morning. Also, the thermostat in the room is a joke. It’s locked so that no adjustments can be made by guests. I would have loved to use the sound of the air to drown out people doing burnouts. We will not be returning to this location in the future. Not worth the price tag for a night.
Miranda J — Google review
Location is great. The bar looks beautiful. The beds are comfortable. We paid over 300 for one night. The hvac controller does nothing it’s centrally controlled our room stayed at 72 whether I set it to 77 or 66. The bar became overrun by an event that was being hosted, at 12:30 they were out of ingredients for both our drinks and ice. Breakfast in the morning resembles a nicer complimentary breakfast but they’ll ask you for 20 dollars a person. Hey the parking was free

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the A.C. Marriott in Grand Rapids, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was wonderful. The front desk team was nothing short of exceptional. Justin, Brea and Abbey provided some of the best customer service I’ve encountered in any hotel. They were warm, professional, and genuinely attentive—making check-in smooth, answering questions with care, and always greeting guests with a smile. Their positive energy truly set the tone for the stay. Equally impressive was the service in the Breakfast Café. Allie went above and beyond to ensure guests felt welcomed and well taken care of. Her friendly demeanor and attention to detail made breakfast a highlight, as well as the delicious cappuccino’s she thoughtfully prepared for us. This level of service is what sets a great hotel apart, and the team at A.C. Marriott Grand Rapids absolutely delivers. The location is great and the hotel was never too noisy for a good night of sleep. We definitely be back!

Stayed two nights for a family wedding. While the hotel was clean and visually attractive, that’s about it for the pros. The cons are as follows: - no onsite parking. There is discounted offsite parking that you have to drive to and then take a 4 minute walk back to the hotel. While this may seem like no big deal, it is when you are checking in late and then having to trek back to your hotel after dark. -no complimentary breakfast. This was not made known to us by any signs or staff upon entering the breakfast area. It was not explained until AFTER coffee had been poured and food had been placed on trays that there was a charge. This explanation also came after our second day breakfast when the staff member informed us such info and that she “hadn’t been able to catch us” the previous day. -there is sexually suggestive artwork in the common areas and if you are entering the lobby after 9 on a Friday night, there is a very active bar scene with a DJ right next to the lobby which may be inappropriate for families and does make submitting your parking receipt for validation at the front desk awkward as you feel you are in the middle of a club. -we were also surprised by the long list of taxes tacked on to our final receipt. While AC can’t control that, clarity of the extensive taxes should be provided prior to booking because your estimated total is, indeed, not your final total. I will not be choosing this hotel in the future.

We enjoyed a great few nights when visiting for a concert at nearby Van Andel. Room was modern, comfortable, quiet and spotless. Loved the ice/water hydration station on the floor – very convenient. The staff throughout were delightful and friendly. We traveled with our dog and everyone was so kind to her whenever we passed by. Parking at the JW Marriott garage was easy, just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There are lots of Marriott-brand choices nearby and this one is certainly a fantastic one to consider.

AC hotel is part of the Marriott Bonvoy chain, and my rewards points were valid there (score !) I was able to book a room on a minute's notice when my original hotel overbooked my room. The front desk reception of Brea and Shalimar could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The hotel has parking across the street at the JW Marriott garage, and is part of an add to the room charge. The room was modern, clean, well stocked, and quiet (many hotels in GR are located on the 131/ 196 corridors and not very quiet ! ). The hotel was also well located in downtown on Monroe off Pearl - close to museum, shopping district, and many restaurants.

5 stars all around! Front desk is incredibly nice, the room (we stayed in a king room with a couch pull out) was very spacious and comfortable. The bed was so comfortable it allowed us to just pass fully out and we both slept very very well. I want to steal a pillow they are so fluffy and comfy (I won’t because it won’t fit in my luggage lol). Top tier all around!! Choice hotels are great hotels and will always be my top choice 😉

Last week, I was in Grand Rapids for work training for the second week and stayed here again. I was just as impressed as the first week! The room, the service, the hospitality were all great! I was called by name and all my needs were met! The breakfast was just as good as the first week. Not only are there very tasty items but many healthy ones as well. The oatmeal with many toppings was great! There was plenty of fruit, fruit juices and other grains and nuts, etc. I am grateful again! Keep up the good work!

This was our first time staying here. The hotel was beautiful, the staff were professional and friendly, and the breakfast was wonderful. The location is a little odd and the bed ended up hurting my back and my husband's back. The hot tub was nice, but it had way too many chemicals in it.

Great location to easily access surrounding areas. Close proximity to the airport makes commuting there a dream. Rooms are very clean. Good water pressure and very nice bathrooms. Well maintained and has been updated. Big breakfast spread, including coffee and hot and cold breakfast options. Ice on every floor. Pool and amenities.

We stayed here one night on a family road trip around the state of Michigan, and it was by far the nicest hotel of the 4 we stayed at during the week. The room was super clean and nice, the amenities were great, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and warm, and the military tribute in the lower level was a nice touch. Breakfast was good, with a decent selection and extended hours for weekends and holidays. Cookies and refreshments in the lobby were a hit with the kids! We now have a go-to hotel in Grand Rapids!

Hotel was nice enough. Great spread for breakfast. Easy to get too. Loud traffic noise 24/7 as you're close to freeway. Mattresses are cheaper spring coil which is surprising in today's world so if you have back issues they won't be great. Room was nice sized and clean. Check in person was very friendly.

When I was looking for a hotel I knew nothing about Country Inn & suites by Raddisson. I took it because it was close to where I needed to go. When I checked in I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is beautiful. The accommodations are great. I'm very happy with my choice.

From the moment I checked in til the time I checked out the front desk clerk Shi it was very accommodating and attentive. Her customer service was excellent. I was in a very nice room. Equip with microwave and refrigerator it was great. Everything was in working order. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel had very nice with modern decor. I enjoyed the amenities such as the pool, the hot tub and the gym. Overall it was a great stay.

Elevator issues. At check in they were both broken and had to tote our luggage & baby up the stairs to the 5th floor, which was difficult (I'm an amputee). They did fix one of them relatively quick but being booked solid meant very long wait times (although I was still grateful it was working). Staff was very nice and the lobby area is large & beautifully decorated! The breakfast was hot & delicious each day of our stay. The pool was quite cold & a little cloudy but the pool area was very nice & clean with a comfortable temperature, as was the fitness room. Overall it's a nice Hampton but the elevator issues made me nervous. I would definitely revisit or recommend this hotel but encourage calling ahead.
Myra M — Google review
Rooms are okay. They need a string to dry bathing suits though and a plastic bag for wet stuff would be good. I also was surprised by the 1 elevator still not working (5/25) as many reviews stated and that even though your a guest at the hotel, you still have to pay a parking fee. In a good location though. Our check in/morning person (brent?) Was very nice and pleasant to deal with. Be forewarned, everything smells like weed. I'm not sensitive but some people maybe. Overall beds were clean and that's what mattered to us. They also had different breakfast options served at around 8. We ate at 730. 8 am breakfast seemed much better. Just wish they would of had yogurt but can't have everything.

My boyfriend and I stayed here and the rooms were fairly nice but their staff is so rude. There was a front desk lady who didn’t even want my boyfriend asking questions about what time the pool close, if he is allowed to get snacks because he’s a Gold member and got a smart mouth with him about it. We were also getting breakfast and I overhead someone who was working the breakfast area get smart with another guest because they asked if there were more muffins. They are so rude for the smallest things definitely makes you not want to stay here just because of them.
Kayla C — Google review
The hotel itself was nice. Breakfast was standard, but good. Garage parking was $17 per night. Rm 710 needs an update. Carpet was gross. Beds were still the spring beds that squeaked when you moved. Still had curtains for the shower. The room wasn't horrible but definitely needed an update. Rm 713 has a king bed, seemed updated and was a lot roomier. The shower had a nice glass door.
Bac N — Google review
The shower heads are horrible and should all be replaced - so cheap and bad it’s either a light mist that doesn’t wet your hair or a penetrating laser stream that’s smaller than a dime size. The beds are also very firm and not comfortable especially if you have back issues. Also the ac will not go below like 74 at night. It says 63 but it’s not. You will be sweating at night. On the positive side, everyone who works there is amazing - so nice and so helpful. I just wish they had decent showers and beds and ac - the most important things to me. Staff members are so nice and it was clean. The hot tub and pool are nice features and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating space in the lobby. Very beautiful just need to upgrade the functional basics.
Katie P — Google review
This should have had a 5 star review as the structure is great, but the garage entry failed the second day, making parking worries one. Then our third day they hadn't cleaned the room or replaced the linens. No towels. No clean sheets. No emptied waste baskets. They skipped the room even though it was on the schedule. I expected better from a Hilton property.

rude staff, yucky, horrible hotel. room wasn't cleaned once within 4 days and garbage all over the hallways. front desk lady was giving sass to my man saying he's "making things difficult" . . .if you did your job correctly it wouldn't BE SO DIFFICULT LAQUISHA. only nice person there was the curly head man with the mustache. he needs a raise and fire everyone else. I hope this place gets shut down. have a great day!👎

Fantastic hotel & wonderful staff. Loved the bed, pillows, sheets, bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, etc. They accidentally gave my reserved handicap room to a friend instead of me. Very quiet & located in nice neighborhood. Buffet breakfast was good & filling. Everyone on our Diamond Tour was pleased with this hotel.

Holiday Inn is always a safe bet for clean and modern rooms, this with a few caveats… this hotel has no breakfast unless you want to pay $15 per person (we didn’t I’m sure it was good) they have a bar in their lobby we didn’t use. I don’t know about the swimming pools. Our room was a handicap room but was the absolute furthest away from the front desk, so it seems most of their handicaps are a long walk from checkin, sink drained slow and the handicap bar in the shower was rusted and coming off the wall. Other than that everything was good! 😊
Richard D — Google review
The rooms are cleaned nicely. I wish the TVs were a little more up-to-date but that's okay. Had a 2 queen bedroom. The pillows were fluffy and the bed was comfy. One thing I will say is I did laundry here because I had camped for 2 days and some of my clothes needed washing. I bought some Tide from the front desk. After washing my clothes and drying them, some of my clothes came out feeling not thoroughly washed of all the tide and some watermark/oil stains were left on some of my clothes. If you have sensitive skin, wash yourself with your own body wash and shampoo. Agter taking a cold 2-minute shower, I came out and my legs were itchy all over. I'm assuming very high levels of chlorine. Other than that, it was a quiet and convenient stay. A lot of options to eat from and things to do.

We (my wife and 6 month old daughter) decided to stay at this hotel because of how close it is to the airport. We checked in our room and immediately realized it smelled like smoke. Was it Tobacco smoke? Nope. Was it weed? Nope. It was a chemical smell I have never smelt before. I sent my wife down to talk to the front desk while I stayed with the baby and luggage. I looked around the room and noticed some white wet spots next to the fridge. I looked up and opened the cabinet and I found two bags of White CRYSTALS. I’m not a drug user or a forensic pathologist so I can’t confirm for sure what these substances were. But given the smell of the room I can only assume it was CRYSTAL METH OR CRACK. I’m not blaming the hotel because people do whatever they want in the hotel room and I understand it is impossible for them to regulate that. But what I can hold them responsible for is the cleaning of the room that clearly failed at finding these substances and also reporting that the room was clearly reeking of a chemical smoke smell. We were offered another room but felt so uncomfortable with the safety and cleanliness of the hotel given the situation and decided to cancel our reservation. The manager was supposed to call us and it has been over a week without a call. They held a $100 room deposit for a week and when I called and mentioned the situation the front desk staff was aware of what happened but gave no offering to make things right. This was a very upsetting and unsettling situation for my family and the way it was handled by the staff there gave me the impression that this is not the first time something like this has happened. DO NOT STAY HERE

Worst experience I ever had in a hotel. Checked in, went to my room (432-handicap). No way to close window curtains to sleep, room thermostat did not work...desk clerk (Renée) said she was sorry & offered me another room. I accepted & returned to the desk. Renée gave me key cards for room (423). Rm 423 thermostat didn't work, could not lower the heat or turn on fan. I returned to the desk & told Renée that I would like my money returned to my card & I would go somewhere else. She offered to check for a room in the area for availability. I declined & asked if my $ was returned to my card. She said it was & I left the property. Totally unacceptable...not a good solution to my problem. This was after 9pm & all I wanted was a room to sleep. So warm I couldn't stay in the room, let alone sleep. I am 73 yrs old, I have heart disease. I've had 7 bi-passes. It put my life at risk going back & forth to the desk. I was exhausted. I would never attempt to stay at another Holiday Inn. Sorry.

Stayed last night to leave early this morning. Room 160 heat does not work, it was the coldest hotel room I have ever stayed in, I was frozen. The hotel had an event and it just wasn’t worth it to get up and change rooms, I think they were fully booked. But that room needs to be maintenanced before it gets colder!!

This hotel is in a great location. It is close to the airport and shopping malls. And numerous restaurants. The best thing is they have a Big 'es Sports Restaurant across the parking lot from the hotel! A great place to catch a tigers baseball game with a beer and burger. The pool and outside/inside hot tub is inviting and relaxing. The rooms are clean and the whole hotel is well kept. The staff really cares and takes pride in their job.

Absolutely beautiful! From the moment we walked in we were kindly greeted by "Gloria" ...she made sure my Edible gift for the bride and groom was properly stored. The reception was in the stunning lounge area and although we hadn't planned on booking a room, we did. The room was gorgeous and immaculate. I live in a big city where these accommodations are expected. I was pleased to receive 5star accommodations in such a small city. BRAVO!

We stay here every time we come to GR and it has the best pool and hot tub ever! Even better, no kids are allowed after 10:30pm, which means adults can enjoy the pool until midnight.

What a great hotel! Definitely would recommend! Great location. Restaurant/bar in adjoining parking lot, in addition to onsite restaurant. Next to a mall. We were in town for a volleyball tournament. Ladies at the front desk were super friendly and professional. Hotel looked brand new and we asked and were shocked that it was 8 years old. Room was great. Microwave and refrigerator and even an area for food storage. Bottled water was only $2, in a pinch seems fair. Nice and clean. Pool area was AWESOME. Whirlpool was indoor and outdoor which was fun. Caring staff as they came and informed us when there were thunderstorms in the area. Parents were able to hang out at the outdoor pool area. Kids went to outdoor firepit and ordered ice cream at the restaurant in adjoining parking lot.

Stayed here over the period of a few months and was really impressed with the hotel and the staff. This hotel is clean, safe and has good rooms that are pretty quiet. Breakfast was good and the staff are friendly. It's close to lots of restaurants, hotels etc... and made it fairly easy for me to get around to a lot of different places. Would recommend if you need a quality place to go. Only drawback can be the parking if you like to be close to the main entrance when traveling like I do. Sometimes you have to park at the end of the lot and as someone traveling alone I don't prefer that.

My non-profit group had an amazing event here recently! The room for our event was gorgeous and organized exactly like we had asked. We had a taco bar which everyone enjoyed! Karrie, Amanda, Deb, Alaina, Matt and Liz were all super helpful in making the event a success! My group meets monthly and they want all future events here! Thank you all so much!

Do not stay at this hotel if you are going with a travel team of any kind. They were watching the kids on their cameras. They were harassing them every chance they got. No matter where they were or if we were with them the night staff did not want them out of their rooms. It is a very nice hotel but they should never be apart of any pay to play tournaments as they don’t really want children in their common areas.
Jaime L — Google review
Staff is terrible. Why be apart of having sports teams in your hotel if you don’t want them there? Staff does nothing but stare at cameras all day and yelling at teenagers who were doing NOTHING wrong. Worry about the dogs who bark all day, the food that’s cold served to guests, the beds that are super small and pillows that suck.

What a gem! Rooms were very clean and we got a "big" room with a kitchenette and living space that was just fantastic. We had a group of girls, so it was awesome to be able to close off a bedroom if someone wanted some quiet time. Kitchenette made it easy to have little snacks and keep/reheat leftovers. The staff was so friendly and helpful if you needed it. Location is right in the middle of like...everything. Easy to walk to shops, museums, dining, bars, and close to drive to parks and attractions like the Gardens. Everyone agreed it was 100% perfect!

This is easily the NICEST hotel I have ever stayed in. The check in attendants were incredibly friendly; Rick was a delight! We opted to become members and were upgraded to a room on the twelfth (top!) floor. The view from our suit was just incredible - and even moreso after sunset! We were in walking distance to several fantastic restaurants and bars, and were able to thoroughly enjoy our evening knowing a comfortable bed was just a short walk away. We did pay for parking, however it was night to know our vehicle was safe and close by. Overall, the price we paid for this incredible room was super reasonable considering all of the amenities provided. And I didn't even mention breakfast yet! PHENOMENAL!! Eggs, sausage, potatos, and the coolest little oatmeal bar (I'm considering recreating at my own home!). My husband and I will absolutely be back - even if it's just to have a night or two away to ourselves!

Absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It was a busy day at the hotel (and in the city) and the staff handled everything so well. Room was HUGE and so clean! Couldn't beat the location, the hotel is within walking distance of everything in the city. Heck of a view from my room, and I wasn't on a top floor. Very quiet room, I thought the city noise would be too loud, but I couldn't hear anything. This is now my favorite hotel in the city! Cannot wait to stay here again. I drove a large pickup truck and was still able to park in the parking garage.

The room was nice- my only complaint would be the pull out bed was extremely uncomfortable (compared to the other residence inns we have stayed at on this trip) my little kids didnt mind but I slept with them one night and it was very uncomfortable so if an adult is going to using that bed I suggest getting a room with another real bed. The staff were all very nice, specifically Evan who helped check us out. The hotel itself was very clean and well kept. The housekeepers also did a wonderful job.
Amber C — Google review
Great hotel in downtown nearby many restaurants, bars, etc. Very clean. Spacious rooms staff was friendly. Parking garage is right across the street, but very quirky, and pretty expensive each night. Also, one elevator was frequently out of service. Breakfast is included and was very good. We would stay here again if we’re in Grand Rapids.

Fantastic hotel. The room was clean and tidy upon arrival, staff were pleasant and helpful when needed, and being in the heart of downtown meant walking distance to so many good venues.

Your front desk staff left a bad first impression. We had 1 person in front of us for check in an they expeditiously helped that customer. That customer left and BOTH agents avoided eye contact for at least 2 minutes and tended to the computers with no greeting or acknowledgment. It was very cold and standoffish. When the agent called us up, she said something that I didn’t quite catch, and she seemed annoyed when I asked her to repeat as I didn’t hear. The hotel room and view were lovely, the customer service…not so much. I will say that the parking is extremely tight and not well marked at all.

We stayed in July for a concert across the street, and were blown away by the kind and helpful service and the spotless room! Both front desk staff who helped us were kind and so helpful when we had questions about parking and check in. They both made our stay memorable and stellar!

Great room. Two nice double beds. Need a step stool for us old folks to get in the high beds. But, once in, it was so comfortable. The bedding was so fresh, high thread count and smooth. Loved them. Ran into a couple of staff members and they were extremely nice and efficient. Will recommend this hotel.

If you have any expectations for a decent hotel, this will not be suitable for you. It was a terrible experience starting from the moment we walked into the hotel. The elevator is 100 yards from the front desk. The hotel was dark with very poor lighting (which probably helped hide a lot more stuff we didn't see). The only snacks available for purchase were water and Doritos. The room we stayed in (3rd floor) was apparently remodeled? It was disgusting. The doors to nearly every room were gross, like they had been severely damaged and repaired. Our sink and bathtub had hair. Our bathtub had mold. There was no water pressure in the sink. The floors were dirty. The AC took forever to get cool. The only reason we didn't leave is because we were in this hotel from an airline (we checked in very late and had an early check out). So yes, we were already upset when we got to this hotel, but this experience tripled down on how bad traveling is these days.
Bobby B — Google review
If I could give zero stars, I would. I checked in and thought it seemed a little sketchy, especially after seeing a handwritten list of room numbers, cash payments for one night, and notes that rooms needed to pay, in a tattered notebook. It was hot and not very inviting in the lobby, although the front desk agent was pleasant. We drove around back where we were told to park and were not impressed and didn’t feel safe. Decided to go up to the room anyway. It was filthy and in poor condition from the minute we stepped in with a funky odor. We went into the room, saw how dirty it was , stains on sheets, mattresses wrapped in plastic…and immediately went back to the front desk to check out. The front desk staff didn’t seem surprised. Would not recommend to anyone to stay here.
Denise J — Google review
We stayed here after American Airlines canceled the last flight out for the evening and we were stuck until the next flight in the morning. This motel should probably be removed from AA's list of options until conditions improve. The official airport shuttle was in the repair shop, so the front desk manager was running shuttle service out of his own personal vehicle (which was nice, he was very courteous and patient with the situation). The hotel however is in terrible condition. The hallways, carpets, floors, walls, doors, and just about everything was filthy. Dirt stains on furniture. The elevators and walkways looked like scenes from the movie The Purge. Bathrooms looked like they were from the Nixon era. We were even in one of the remodeled rooms. The one chuckle I did have was the mismatched toiletry mini bottles, both from different hotels.
Seth W — Google review
Clean room/hotel. That’s about it! Hotel had a general funky odor. Service was absolutely horrendous. We waited almost 20 minutes for someone to come to the desk and check us in upon arrival. Noting, check out is at 11am - we waiting from 10-:50-11:28 for someone to arrive at the desk to check us out. Long line of angry people behind us too. Frustrating the receptionist are also the shuttle drivers so you don’t know if any help is available in the actual hotel. We had to find non-English speaking housekeepers to then translate with & call the front desk guy who was driving the shuttle.
Samantha L — Google review
My stay here was awful and we will never be back here. Great location, and the pool is okay, but that's where it ends. The room was unclean when we arrived. The television was broken and fridge is on it's last leg. The tub had rust holes in it and the room also lacked basic necessities. There was someone else clothes hanging in the closet when we got there. The staff was rude and could not understand English. The bar that they have listed as available was very unclean and there was nothing there to drink anyway. With so many bad reviews and unhappy customers, I don't even understand how this place is still in business. I definitely would NOT recommend anyone to stay here.
Joseph B — Google review
Posting this in the hopes someone will read these reviews if American Airlines tries to stick you here - SAY NO, DO NOT ACCEPT THE OFFER. This is not a “hotel” it’s a “motel” and it’s disgusting. I say this as someone whose parents and grandparents ran a budget hotel when I was growing up - you can do it and still take pride in your property, keeping it clean and safe. AA put us here with no other alternative after a mechanical issue with our flight. We were told a hotel shuttle was available - I called the number provided 10 times before someone finally answered. They told me to go to the shuttle pick up area. An unmarked van and small SUV showed up. They looked like personal vehicles. I didn’t feel comfortable getting in with my family - elderly mother-in-law, teenage niece, husband and our two young kids (6 years old and 2 years old). We called an uber instead. When we arrived the lobby was so hot. No AC or it wasn’t working. We checked in. I asked about a crib or pack-n-play for my 2 year old. The guy looked at me like he had no clue what I was talking about. I pointed to my toddler and asked if they had something for him to sleep in. Nope. Nothing. We got to the room - the elevator was a long walk down some pretty dark hallways. The room was disgusting to say the least. I didn’t want my kids to walk without shoes on. The bathroom had mold in several places, it looked like they had tried to paint the walls in the main room recently but it was a quick job and there was hair or something stuck to the wall in the paint. The doors were all banged up as was most of the furniture. The room smelled like smoke, mold, or both. My daughter is asthmatic. We couldn’t stay. Thankfully the Residence Inn next door had space. We paid out of pocket and went there, which was totally worth it.

Staying at this hotel was like being promised a warm hug, only to get a damp handshake from a stranger who smells like moldy fridge air. The sheets were so dirty I half-expected them to get up and walk away. There were no towels, no shampoo, and no actual details about anything like they wanted me to discover the amenities through some sort of sad treasure hunt. The pictures online showed a beautiful rooms and a jacuzzi in the pool room, which I now realize was just a stock photo from someone else’s better life. There was no jacuzzi. Just the cold realization that I’d been tricked. The fridge had mold growing in it, which I guess is great if you’re into organic science experiments. The staff didn’t tell me anything about the free breakfast times, probably because it’s more fun for them to watch guests wander around confused like zombies with empty stomachs. Their service is less helpful host and more wait until something’s on fire, then show up with a wet napkin. If I could sum up my stay in one word, it would be “No.”

Holy cow was this hotel nice! Super clean and modern rooms. Very spacious with a couch and fridge and microwave. Great breakfast selection in the morning as well. Highly recommend especially for the price.

If I could give this zero stars I would. Absolutely disturbing room. The door was broken and didn't want to shut. Lifted the sheets and there were blood stains. The couch was nasty. And crumbs everywhere. Ended up cancelling our reservation and finding a new hotel across town. Not to mention it's a pretty sketchy area.

We were pleased with the cleanliness and overall customer service pertaining to our stay. The nite time manager was excellent. We had a minor common issue. Which was a slow drain in the shower. However, we expressed the matter to the nite time manager and she immediately moved us to another room. We are pleased with our overall stay and I would recommend staying at the Wyoming Best Western located @ 2725 Buchanan!

*Don't stay here* We stayed on a Friday night. We had checked into the hotel and went straight to the pool as we have 2 young kids who were super excited. After an hour we went to the room and saw it was DIRTY. Floors had not swept in a long time including toe nail clippings on the floor. Cold medicine spilled on the side table. The white curtains were brown on the bottom. Margarita the receptionist was very kind and understanding as we were not going to stay. No manager was present to give us even a partial refund. We paid $250 for this room. Have been calling all week to speak to the manager with no response. I would advise anyone to pick another hotel. Update- after filing a complaint online and talking with a customer relations specialist. They were able to get ahold of the hotel manager and offer a refund of 40%

If I could leave zero stars I would. Absolutely terrible experience first their water pressure was down between one and 5 PM. Check-in is at three and nobody informed me nor did they have a sign like they say they did. There was shit on our sheet’s and we had asked to clean them, they only took the sheet off that had the stuff on it because the one under it was also dirty. Prior to our stay there was moldy cottage cheese left in our fridge. We had politely brought it up to them and ask them if they could take care of it,They did not unfortunately. every time I call the manager is conveniently busy or not in office called the corporate number. They put a ticket in for him to call me in 2 to 5 days and he has not when he lied and said that he did Unfortunately that manager is awful and doesn’t know what he’s doing.

I don’t know how to begin. On the positive side all the lights worked. The coffee pot had a used pod left in it. The room smelled so stale and didn’t improve with the running of the air conditioner or the fan. There were loud fireworks set off close by the hotel area between 9-10:30 pm. (Not July 4th) The male employee couldn’t get the juice machine operating so the drink options were only coffee and whole milk. The most unimaginable thing occurred at 1:30 am when we heard someone open our room door that was closed , locked , deadbolted and had the upper safety latch hooked. They opened the door as far as the safety latch would allow and when I screamed out they slammed the door shut. We notified the employee on duty and he stated that he was the only one on duty and he didn’t understand what had happened. I suggested calling the police and he told me that he would check it out and get back to me. We later tried to enter our room from the hallway using our card key with the deadbolt in place and the card key wouldn’t open the door. The person who attempted to get in earlier would have needed some kind of master card key to get our door open as far as they did. Nothing was discovered from the employee but he said that he would watch our room door overnight. To say the least, that didn’t give us much confidence in our safety. We ended up wedging the ironing board in front of the door between the two walls of the hallway. We will ask to review the security camera film. — if they will provide it. Sorry, but I recommend passing by this hotel and staying somewhere else.

Checking in was ok. I would not advise using a third party for reservations. Made it hard to extend your stay. Checkout was easy and fast. Nice and clean. Breakfast was good with a verity of foods to choose from.

I don't usually write reviews but this was a really good experience for us! My family drove out here on vacation and spent 3 nights. It was a really good location for us to explore everything in the Black Hills. The hotel was clean and the staff was really friendly and helpful! This is a really good choice for people vacationing and sight seeing in the area. We would stay here again.

Hotel
Affordable Suites Grand Rapids is an extended-stay hotel that offers modest accommodations with kitchens, a gym, and complimentary breakfast. Despite being an older property in need of updates, it provides a peaceful and homey atmosphere. The suites feature full-sized appliances, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and three TVs, making it a great low-cost option for extra space. The staff is friendly and accommodating, creating a welcoming environment for guests and their furry companions.
Not a bad place if you need somewhere to go for a night or 2. Room was clean, people at the front were nice. Shower had great water pressure and all amenities in the room worked fine. Oven was a little suspicious but still worked! Bed was comfy and clean. Would definitely come back if I needed a cheap place to stay for a few nights
Lillie H — Google review
During my week here, I witnessed multiple concerning incidents, including police presence on two separate days and suspicious activity in the parking lot. The pool was non-functional, TVs had poor reception, and the strong odor of marijuana was noticeable throughout the property. I also overheard shouting from nearby rooms, which made the environment feel chaotic and unsettling. On the positive side, Assistant Manager Shawn, the housekeepers, and the maintenance staff (especially Doc) were incredibly friendly and responsive. They went out of their way to help with any questions I had. Unfortunately, upper management—particularly the General Manager Crystel—was dismissive of concerns, and the overall leadership made it difficult to feel safe or respected while being here. She would be swearing up and down the lobby with problems of the residents, her bosses and her other issues and it stressed me out. A manager shouldn't be screaming and swearing up and down the halls, it's highly unprofessional. With different leadership, this location will improve. Maybe Shawn should take the opportunity! He was great!!

We reserved this hotel for my parents through Vrbo. They called twice and spoke with the front desk, explaining that their flight was going to be late. This hotel assured them that it would be fine, and that someone would be there to let them in. Upon their arrival, they were not allowed to go past the door. The emergency contact we had to call was disrespectful and extremely rude. I do not recommend anyone making reservations at this place. They do not honor them.
Abi V — Google review
My family and I stayed here for 3 nights . We initially booked this place because we saw it had a kitchen. As we walk in the rooms, you smell marijuana and the facility claims to be non-smoking. We did mention it to the person in the front office to possibly put some type of air freshener or anything to possibly reduce the smell. The floors were not swept and extremely sticky. My socks were black from the floor . In our bathroom, the door was missing. Also the sheets and pillows smell like smoke it's definitely penetrated. The location is in town, so you are near everything. Also, there's no pool. I believe they said they were going to take it down . Overall, I don't recommend staying here definitely read the reviews prior.
Tabatha G — Google review
NEVER AGAIN! WARNING! Don't let their pictures fool you! The photos of the kitchen with plates and a toaster are misleading. The kitchen is EMPTY and FILTHY, but they'll sell you a set of pots and pans at the front desk. They offer a great price, but you get what you pay for! I wanted to be able to leave some sort of good review, but they've now made that impossible. My husband and I were visiting Grand Rapids, so we booked a room at Affordable Suites of America - Grand Rapids (ASAGR) for May 23 - 25, 2025. Shawn was wonderful about checking with us to see what time we would arrive, as they don't have typical hotel desk hours. We arrived just before 5, when the office closes, got our room assignment, and went to our room. By the time we had a chance to look at anything, Shawn was gone. The cord to the TV was missing, so I called the after hours number at approximately 5:20 p.m. and left a message, hoping they might be able to rectify the cord issue while we were out of the room. Addionally, there was sand in the bathtub (you have to zoom in to see the sand, but a photo is attached). Still, we decided to stay the night and determine what to do the next morning. At 9 a.m. my husband and I went to the office, and Shawn was there, along with several other staff members behind the counter (I do not know their positions). We explained what happened and that we just weren't happy with the condition of the room. Shawn apologized, offered a different room, but we had decided we would just go somewhere else. I did not ask for a refund; however, Shawn said he would refund the two nights we didn't stay, and I thanked him. He looked on his computer and explained that since I had booked through a third party, I would have to request the refund from them. He told me to tell them that I talked to Shawn, the "Assistant General Manager", and he would approve the refund. I called VRBO and they said they would contact the host. After several days with no response, I called back. They explained that they had attempted to contact the host and received no response, so they "escalated" the case. Again I didn't hear anything, so I thought I would help by contacting ASAGR personally. So, yesterday (June 20) at approximate 1:30 p.m., I called ASAGR. A pleasant young woman answered the phone, and I asked if Shawn was available. She said he was and asked me to hold for a moment. I was on hold for a little over five minutes when my call was disconnected. I immediately called back, and Shawn answered. I was very nice, gave him my name, and asked if he remembered me, and reminded him of what happened and his offer of a refund. I told him that VRBO had attempted to call, but has not received a response. I asked if I could give him the case number to contact them. He immediately became rude and said he could not contact them, they had to contact him. He also said he inspected the room himself, that there was a cord for the TV and we had unplugged it (completely false). He said "I am not going to approve a refund. You called on a Friday at check-in time, and I am not having this conversation!" He abruptly hung up on me. Note: According to Affordable Suites of America's website, check-in isn't until 3 p.m. I called VRBO following the call and asked if he had to be contacted by them and could not contact VRBO, and the agent I spoke with said that wasn't true. If I could give a zero rating, I would. All that, and I didn't realize I didn't get a picture of the missing television cord, but I assure you it was not there. Photos attached include sand in the bathtub, broken microwave, chipping paint, dents in refrigerator, and other filth. Save your money and stay at a reputable hotel!

Shawn is the manager, and was the only good thing about this place besides the location. Some of the rooms are very nice, some are very bad. Nobody in office after hours, so don't lock yourself out of your room, lol. Was there for 30 nights, room was cleaned once... Upcharge for clean bedding and or towels.

If I could give a 0 start review I would! I drove almost 3 hours to stay here for a weekend and I called the day before to double check and was told I was good until 3pm. We got here at 12:30 to find our reservation had been "just canceled" and they couldn't give it back to me because it already was given to somebody else!!! I would not recommend this place to anybody!!!

This luxurious three-star hotel in Grand Rapids features an indoor pool, gymnasium, free internet access, and well-equipped rooms. It's popular with guests for its striking good looks, satisfying free breakfast, and comfortable beds.
I rented a room for an overnight sibling’s slumber party for my birthday weekend. The hotel is very nice and clean looking. Front desk check in young lady was friendly and helpful. The swimming pool water was clean although the water is cold. Our room suite was spacious and clean. Beds are firm. Pillows are soft. Shower water pressure is really good. Loving the trundle bed under the sofa with spacious living room. This suite was perfect for my birthday slumber party! 🎉

We stayed the night while visiting Grand Rapids. Saturday night and they had no complementary coffee out in the evening and when I asked the desk it was bc they were saving money? Coffee is the cheapest thing…room was decent, but the couch was very dirty with stains from who knows what. Had stains on carpet as well. Bed was very firm. Pool was small, but perfect for our littles. I could hear nosies from rooms around us. Breakfast was decent, but coffee was not great and had zero Decaf available while we had breakfast. Never had a hotel not prioritize a coffee/tea station. Probably wouldn’t choose this hotel again.

Had a nice stay at SpringHill Suites Grand Rapids North! The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, reat first impression. The room was clean and comfortable. If I had one tiny note, the shower head could use a little upgrade, but it didn’t ruin the stay. Would definitely come back!

Only things I didnt like were getting up in the morning and seeing someones cereal bowl leaking milk on the floor in front of my door. So, a garbage can by the elevator might help those who are too lazy to dispose of their garbage properly even if it means holding it for about 1.5 minutes till they get to the lobby or when using the garbage can in the room isnt an option. Also, the guy working the front desk that day was obviously having a bad day judging by the tone of his voice. Definately dont want to hear that first thing in the morning. But other than that, the stay was nice.
Brian T — Google review
I am a Bonvoy Platinum member, but my stay was just a night in a SpringHill Suites. So I was obviously didn't expect too much from it. The one thing I did expect though was the hotel to honor my earned benefits. However that was not the case. We had hoped to stay a bit longer on the day we checked out (1 PM vs noon). This is a guaranteed benefit for the level of status I hold. However the front desk clerk would not grant the request. He said he was told by higher ups that they couldn't as they had to turn the whole hotel over. This was clearly a lie as the hotel was not sold out, nor would anyone reasonable be foolish to think that none of the people staying that night were staying more than that single night. Also anyone that knows how a hotel cleans knows they have like 1-2 people to do the whole floor and they can easily clean other rooms prior to those checking out later. So all-in-all, again I don't expect much at a SpringHill Suites, but this one managed to greatly disappoint my very low expectations.

Great stay room was clean staff was great Esp RICHARD the night auditor so professional with everything from greeting us at the door mind you we got in pretty late he gave great information as it was our first time here in Michigan.. we didn’t have any awkward silence he spoke to us the whole time during the check in process made us feel very welcome from the start….. were in room 103 and had no issues during our stay…it was amazing!

Loses 2 stars because regardless of all the positives, the hotel is run purely for the bistro. It is promoted more than any other feature & because of it, you lose small things that make a difference, like coffee in the lobby (which tasted good) Fitness area is a nice size (about double many other hotel gyms) Rooms are nice with a balcony on some, if not all Staff was friendly & helpful For the price, priority on the bistro making money, & the fact that there are many other options; I would not consider other hotels on my next visit
Michael — Google review
Where's the negative stats ??? Hotel has no amenities. Claims business hotel. No shuttle to airport. No breakfast. No pool. Gym is mediocre. Rooms are tiny. Literally the worst choice amongst the smorgasbord of hotels in the area. Charges more then the rest also. Now let's get to the good part. Arrived for a two night stay. Was debited both nights and security deposit upon arrival. No receipt for the charge, was given a receipt for the first nights charge. $152 and some change. After one night of no pool, no amenities, the family decided this was not the location for our short stay . We stayed one night, was told a refund would be placed for second night. That was 4 weeks ago. No refund for anything. When called they say they can't show the first charge or they don't see it. The hotel is a scam. Run. Do not go near it.
Chad R — Google review
Unfortunately this is a very overpriced basic hotel on the level of a Super 8.. maybe a tad better. Staff was mostly friendly but they were more concerned leaving letters about unattended minors in the fitness area and kids throwing a football in the parking lot than they were the INSANELY OVERWHELMING smell of weed being smoked on more than one floor. Don't usually care too much about the smell in passing..but this was so bad, we could smell it in our room. All night.. one parent had to put a towel under door to stop it from coming in the room. Staff was notified but the fresh smell of weed lingered all late afternoon, all night and all morning. We were in town for a basketball tournament and were told by multiple parents that pretty much every group on every floor had the same issue. TV is tiny in comparison to just about any hotel I've ever stayed in. Rooms antiquated and run down. Moldy bathroom..when not getting hit with the smell of weed, it smelled like sewage in spots.. The "courtyard" area was dirty with a small litter filled wooded area behind hotel. For $211, way overpriced. Steer clear. Marriott needs to fix the Courtyard brand before anyone should pay this amount.

Worst bonvoy experience in 15+ years of owning the card. The woman manager here was rude and inconsiderate of the honest mistake that was made and wouldn’t help other than offer a free breakfast. The Leonard at Logan House is a stately B&B housed in a refined 1914 mansion, offering 8 antique-filled rooms and free Wi-Fi. Situated in the heart of the Heritage Hill district, this historic property provides guests with a glimpse into the life of prominent Grand Rapids families from the early 20th century. The rooms are individually styled and named after royalty, providing a unique experience for visitors.
We enjoyed our stay at the Leonard at Logan very much. The owners were kind and welcoming. The young woman who gave us a tour of the house when we arrived was very friendly and well-informed about the history of the house and the nearby houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The common rooms and garden were very pleasant. The bedroom was nicely appointed and very clean. The location is wonderful: in the middle of a beautiful historic neighborhood and within walking distance of excellent restaurants and bars.We were just sorry that our flight departure time didn't allow us to stay for breakfast. We did appreciate the alternatives that were available--the high-end espresso machine, the home-baked goods, and the homemade strawberry jam.

We were there to celebrate a wedding. What a great Bed And Breakfast to all be together. We would wake up to the smell of breakfast cooking. The food is amazing! Ken and Ruth are very kind and welcoming hosts. They make you feel right at home. Both my partner and I have a dairy allergy, and the host was incredibly thoughtful in accommodating our needs. She prepared a delicious dairy-free raspberry tart, a sweet flan-like dish, and an asparagus and pepper tart — all dairy-free. The spread also included scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, and fresh fruit. We loved the 24/7 coffee bar and the variety of snacks available. The rooms are clean, cozy, and full of charm. Highly recommend!

If you feel like staying in, there are plenty of games in the downstairs living area. We have stayed 4 times in 4 different rooms and have no complaints. What an amazing jem! Ken and Ruth are amazing and gracious hosts. Their food is out of this world! I can’t say enough about their beautiful home and how much our family enjoyed our stay. We had to come in late and they were so gracious. The rooms were comfortable and had showers/toilets in each room. The rooms we rented were beautiful and nicely apportioned. Even had free bottled water- we were so thirsty when we came in! Again, the breakfast was out of this world. Literally never had anything so spectacular. Gluten free, Pork free so many delicious options. I left wanting to stay more nights and sad we had to leave. Can’t say that about other places I’ve stayed. Simply an amazing treat. I would highly recommend!

The Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids is a unique and innovative museum that seamlessly blends natural beauty with fine art. The 30-acre Sculpture Garden features an impressive outdoor collection of sculptures by renowned artists, along with temporary exhibits. Visitors can also enjoy the Seasonal Light Experience, where the gardens are illuminated with captivating light displays for a magical evening stroll.
What a lovely place! We’ve been to many sculpture parks and gardens and this is one of the best! It’s laid out so well - you can walk (mostly flat) or take a narrated tram (for $8 fee). It was so clean and well-maintained. They were testing an on/off tram during our visit which was a nice option on this unseasonably warm fall day. We visited the sculpture park (great collection of art!), farmhouse area, Japanese Garden, waterfalls area and boardwalk. The children’s area looked like it would be really nice as did the tropical garden - saved for another visit if we’re in town again!

Absolutely beautiful. We are here for the autumn night on Tuesday, but have spent the day here too. We took the tram into the sculpture park area, not worth the price you pay for 1/2 hr ride when you can't see most of the sculptures! If you are here to see these amazing sculptures then skip the expensive tram ride. Plan on spending the day here, there is so much to see. If we lived in the area we would definitely get a membership. Looking forward to this evening. Music, lights and more. I'll add more pics later if I can. We were blessed with a beautiful fall day and evening. Beautiful evening, perfect weather.

We have been to several different gardens in different states and this place is in the top 3. It was very easy to get too. Had no problems with traffic getting to this location. The parking lot was easy to enter and plenty of spots near the main entrance. They have a kiosk or front desk to buy tickets. No line at either. We only pay for the tickets not parking or maybe the parking is included in the ticket price but I feel it was a great price. This place is extremely large and there is lots of ground to cover. You could easily spend the whole day here. They have a gift shop inside. They have a very large amount of unique sculptures. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. I cant say enough good things about this place. You have to see it for yourself. Highly recommend!

A well-maintained incredibly beautiful and relaxing 158-acre botanical garden, art museum, and outdoor sculpture park with walking trails throughout. Be sure also to see the gift shop before leaving.

The Japanese Garden, in particular, is a stunning oasis of calm — perfectly manicured and thoughtfully laid out, with traditional bridges, stone lanterns, and serene ponds that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a different world. But it’s not just about plants — the sculpture collection is world-class. You’ll find massive, dramatic pieces and delicate, contemplative works, all beautifully integrated into the landscape. There’s something really powerful about seeing modern art set against a natural backdrop. It makes you pause, think, and appreciate both the art and the environment it sits in. Whether you’re strolling through the butterfly house, wandering the trails, or sitting on a bench soaking in the views, you can easily spend an entire day here. It’s equally great for families, solo travelers, and art or nature lovers alike. If you’re anywhere near Grand Rapids — or even just passing through Michigan — this place is 100% worth a visit. Truly one of the most unique and inspiring gardens in the country.

This place really knocked our socks off! Every detail is carefully planned out, from the Autumn decorations on display as you enter, to the gorgeous flower arrangements throughout the welcome center, to the delicious food and drink at the cafe. We loved the sculptures and the garden displays that flank them.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is a captivating destination for history and science enthusiasts, featuring three floors of exhibits, a 1928 carousel, a theater, and a planetarium. With an emphasis on science, history, and culture, the museum offers hands-on learning experiences for visitors of all ages.
We had such a great time at the Grand Rapids Public Museum! It truly has something for everyone — my kids were totally engaged the whole time, and honestly, so were we! Old Grand Rapids is always a personal favorite of mine — like stepping into a time machine. My husband loved the animal exhibits and fish tanks, and my daughter couldn’t get enough of the Fashion + Nature exhibit and the Shark Experience (both currently on display and super well done!). But the absolute highlight? The planetarium. The Space Dome show was amazing — so immersive! And it was such a nice bonus to have a small snack bar upstairs nearby while we waited. We also loved the LEGO displays (so creative and fun for all ages), and the doll room had everyone mesmerized. Truly something to enjoy in every corner. They even offer sensory bags at the front desk — such a thoughtful, inclusive touch. And the staff were super kind and helpful. Whether you’re local or just visiting Grand Rapids, this place is 100% worth a visit. Educational, fun, and full of surprises — we’ll definitely be back!

The exhibits at the GR Public Museum seem to change fairly frequently, but there are a wide assortment of topics covered. Sharks made one of the main exhibits during my last visit, and the full scale models of some species were impressive. If you’re interested in the history of Grand Rapids there is plenty of information on that, and the scale model of the streets of a century ago is pretty cool. This museum can probably be comfortably explored in a couple of hours, but there’s a lot for kids to explore and enjoy here. It’s definitely a good option for families, but there’s probably a little something for everyone here.

Absolutely fabulous museum. Great variety of knowledge shared and lots of Michigan specific information. Sharks exhibit is really well done. I learned a lot. Three stories of fascinating artifacts displayed in a memorable and meaningful way. It's not a children museum but set up to be visually and physically engaging. Several child play areas. My favorite was the Grand Rapids main street. The best. Also enjoyed the old school way they exhibited flora, fauna, animals and habitats of Michigan. Wished I'd had family, especially my grandchildren with me. They would have loved this. I spend 2 hours, but probably needed 3. I'm a reader. Nice gift shop too.

Always a favorite with my family! We went this past Saturday and were pleasantly surprised with all the booths in the main lobby. My son had a blast doing the science activities at the booths as well as the scavenger hunt through out the museum! We initially went to see the Shark exhibit but we always end up going through the whole museum. It was worth it, my son loves sharks so it was so cool to see his face light up when we got to the exhibit and seen all the sharks waiting to be looked at and explored! Thank you for such a fun family day!

We saw the David Hockney exhibit and it was fabulous. Really well done and so colorful. We found convenient on-street parking near the entrance and a cute coffee house across the street. We enjoyed our visit.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is a fantastic place to spend an afternoon! It offers a wide variety of exhibits covering everything from the history of Grand Rapids to science, culture, and ecology. One of the standout features is the Old Grand Rapids exhibit — it's a recreated steet from old Grand Rapids, and easily one of the highlights of the museum. What really sets this museum apart is the level of interactivity. Many of the exhibits are hands-on, making it a great spot for kids and adults alike to engage and explore. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this museum is definitely worth checking out.

Such a fun museum! Lots to look at and do. It was $14 a person and definitely worth the price. I would recommend pre purchasing your tickets

There are lots of cool exhibits and a planetarium inside. I think my favorite part today is the Streets of Old Grand Rapids exhibit, with reproductions of typical businesses, complete with a volunteer typesetter and printer in the print shop, who gave great demos. They welcome reciprocal membership visitors, so check your museum memberships against their list!

The Grand Rapids Art Museum is a modern space in downtown Grand Rapids, offering a diverse collection of U.S. and European art. The museum features family-friendly activities and hosts various events throughout the year. Housed in a distinctive cube-like building, it spans 125,000 square feet with 20,000 square feet dedicated to gallery and exhibition space. Visitors can explore over 6,000 pieces of art spanning 5,000 years of human history, including Renaissance and Modern Art.
Great customer service and there is always something new being displayed. My sister and I stopped in today specifically for the “Art in Bloom” exhibit and we enjoyed ourselves fully! Plus we enjoyed the other exhibits out as well. Definitely worth a walk through!

I'm not into modern art, but it's a great building, the temporary exhibit was interesting, the 3rd floor had a variety of wonderful pieces, but my favorite part of this visit was that I came during some free evening hours and Caitlin Cusack? was performing in the building and her voices and that building was just magical.

Thursday night music and art was awesome to stumble across. The band was good with food trucks outside and great art inside. I was able to walk the art museum for free. Three floors of all types of art. I was impressed with the 1700 oil paintings that look like they were painted yesterday.

I went here for the first time on Tuesday and it was free. I loved the special exhibit by David Honey and was so impressed with the numerous books he illustrated and published that were all on display in the activity room. I also took the time to create a design with the supplied materials on the second floor. The docent (Meagan and Sheila) were very informative about some of the objectives of His work to show different angles and perceptions. Very impressed with how old some of the art pieces were. Such a beautiful building

We enjoyed this museum and learned the names of many lesser-known artists. They did not seem to own any of the very well known artists’ pieces, though I am no real connoisseur. One of the floors was entirely closed down, so we only needed about an hour or so.

A nice gallery right in the downtown area. The permanent collection was somewhat limited but they did have a 2 floor gallery for David Hockney when we went which was cool.

Max's South Seas Hideaway is a tropical-themed restaurant and bar that offers an extensive selection of tiki-inspired cocktails and a diverse food menu. The venue aims to provide an immersive experience, transporting guests to a distant paradise with its two-story dining and drinking space. The menu features a variety of dishes, including poke bowls, chicken satay, beef bulgogi, drunken noodles, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. One of their specialty desserts is the Island Bread Pudding.
We had a great time. The kids loves the bonfire and the drinks we had were the non alcoholic and they were amazing. It was a little dark so you might need your flashlight till you get used to it. Out hostess told us all about the restaurant and the decorations. We did ask her about them. They have a fish tank upstairs. I should have taken more pictures but I didn't. We will go back again. The nacho fries were good too!

A very unique atmosphere. More importantly the food was delicious, tender. There spring rolls had the most delicate flakes wrap. Sauces were spot on. Service was great, the bartender explained everything that I asked and enjoyed watching my drink be made with pride. Id definitely go back and bring friends.

Dear Max’s, your staff, food, and drink, plus ambiance were amazing! I make it a point to visit tiki bars when travelling. While visiting family in Ohio I dragged my dad here from Toledo on a Thursday night. (what a drive and a half) The servers were a pair of young ladies, one gal had a Rum Rum, my darling shirt from the High roller tiki lounge/ Bettie Page rum from out in California which I immediately recognized, and thought was pretty badass! I didn’t realize the owners also had a SF location which explained a lot of the items I saw around the place 😊 Either way the food was superb! The portions were huge, and I wish I could have tried more. The drinks were top notch and again I wish I had a bigger stomach to try more. The servers hooked up my dad with a taste of a rum that they thought he would enjoy, since he’s a bourbon guy and it was both generous and thoughtful! I was absolutely exhausted by the end, and I regret not exploring the upstairs ( which we were invited to check out several times). I am not sure If they had any souvenirs for sale, nor did I see a swizzle… but I got a couple post cards for my tiki cabinet.

Amazing place! Hidden gem in Grand Rapids. The decor is superb and will transport you to an authentic Polynesian Tiki experience. The drinks are super fun and the drink menu is expansive! Great drinks (cocktails and mocktails) and food was amazing! Service was a little slow, considering it was a Wednesday and they weren't very busy. We ran out of drinks and water. But the atmosphere is great, and it was a fun time. I would come here again for sure.

This place seems like an oasis in a concrete city. If you ever wanted to go to a tropical environment and have a few drink drinks and maybe a few appetizers or food, this is your place. The staff was very friendly when we were greeted at the door and they continued to be friendly while serving us. They were friendly and helpful with giving advice on drinks and I imagine food if we had done so. I will say the drinks were strong. I am not complaining. I’m just letting people know. If you wanna get the most bang for your buck, this is definitely one of your stops. They had a wide variety of beverages to choose from. I am sure you will find something that will wet your pallet. The interior is unique in a way that you might not expect. It has multiple floors. The upstairs has a full see-through aquarium, which was very unexpected. The main floor has the bar along with little private cabana type rooms you get seated in for a small party. Overall, this place will be somewhere I come back to and try additional beverages or maybe some food.
The C — Google review
As a tiki connoisseur, this has to be one of the best tiki bars I’ve ever been to. It’s on par with Three Dots and a Dash in Chicago and Tiki Tatsuya in Austin. This place might as well be part museum/exhibition of high tiki art. There’s a large collection of numbered Shag prints hanging casually on the way to the bathrooms, for example. I will be coming back here each and every time I’m in Grand Rapids or else I will have a temper tantrum and become inconsolable. In fact, I will travel to GR again just to visit Max’s. Also, make sure everyone at the table gets a bread pudding, otherwise fighting will ensue over bites. I loved this spot 💗🍹

Their breakfast, coffee, dinner and bar menus offer something for everyone, and their outdoor space is perfect for enjoying Grand Rapids. This sports bar has a great atmosphere and is close to many restaurants and museums.
First of all, this is some of the friendliest service I've had in the Grand Rapids area. I honestly did not expect much form a hotel restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and attentive the staff was. The dishes can be pretty simple to somewhat unique. The menu is a bit limited, and the chef that wrote it must have a weird fetish with Greek Goddess dressing... It's on almost everything. The salmon board was simple, yet good. The nacho-tots were very good. Plenty of sauce, cooked correctly, and delicious. It's worth a visit!

Sheila S — Google review
The atmosphere was great, we had just come from a concert and so had a few other patrons. But the female server/bartender was quite snippy and controlling. She snapped, not loudly just in a tone, at her coworker a few times. If she is training the employee maybe try to coach him or her outside of the guests ear. Also I was talking with a lady and she interrupted our conversation and when I tried saying something, she in a stern tone said, "If you would let me finish then you will know! " The lady and I were talking about the building across the street and the apartments and whatnot. We weren't asking for a "I know everything " tutorial. When I had asked about food she made it seem like they were about to close and I needed to hurry. I get having a long shift and frustration can be overwhelming, but a guest should never be on the receiving end. This post is not to berate her, it's more of awareness statement. Maybe she is burnt-out or something. But I will probably not be back due to the service and the food not being all that great. The male server/bartender was very nice and personal able. Great conversation with him.

The Comfort Suites Grand Rapids North is an excellent choice for visitors looking for comfort and convenience. This four-story hotel has 86 non-smoking rooms that include Wi-Fi and cable TV. The property also has a business center, free WiFi in public areas, and a spa tub. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast, parking, and a projection room showing movies and sports.
We had a great stay at Comfort Suites. The rooms were very large and very clean. The staff was wonderful! The kids really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Would definitely stay again!!

Stayed here while I had some plumbing work done on my house. The rooms are clean but a little dated. Bed is comfortable, it is a little on the stiff side but not that bad. Linens were clean. Bathroom was clean when I arrived. The young lady at the front desk was polite and efficient. The breakfast is your typical mix of hotel things - eggs, sausage, waffles and then some toast and cereal. Didn't get down to the pool unfortunately so can't comment on that. Overall, the hotel was clean, quiet and fairly comfortable. Would stay again.

We stayed at this hotel as a last minute decision instead of driving a few more hours to go home. We were intending on a relaxing evening before going home but had an issue with noisey people in another room. Talked with Mark at the front desk and he did a good job at resolving the issue! He was very helpful and polite! Our room was clean, breakfast was good with a lot of options, and the pool, hot tub and fitness center we're nice as well! We would stay again!

Kevin and the other two gentlemen who work the desk were great. Very polite. Made cookies for my kids after noticing there weren't any left. Anything we needed they were quick to grab. Now the less than shiny stuff: the property overall was a bit lacking. From a lack of lawn and landscaping upkeep to a somewhat dirty parking lot. Could be so much better with minimal investment. Front door to desk area was mostly clean and organized. The lobby has a faux fireplace and had a TV with news. Cookies and lemon water were left just off to the side of the check in. Overall impression was its a bit old but it was clean. There are drinks and snacks available. Just off the lobby is a hallway with a theater room and a pool on the opposite side. The pool was decent. Relatively clean, a bit dated, but for kids all you could ever need. A handful of chairs and tables were available. Kevin brought in fresh towels several times. It's a bit small, capacity was set at 35. The pool ladder was somewhat broken and another parent reported it and once again Kevin was on it (although I'm not sure what he was able to do). And then you have the rooms. The most crucial part of a stay. Overall it was a 7/10 on cleanliness, but that's better than average. The beds were pretty clean and although they didn't have bed skirts overall nice and decently comfy. I checked for bed bugs and saw no signs. The bathroom was mostly clean, with a full stock of towels as one would expect. Soap and shampoo were fine. More rugs for after a shower are needed though, as the vent doesn't do much and the floor and walls were wet after a couple showers back to back. Overall the room and hotel were good, not great. For the money I spent I expect more. The staff made it better.

Over $200 for an unkept hotel with a hot tub that was out of order. They only had 4 pillows available for 4 people, curtains looked like a cat shredded them. Refused to let us cancel our reservation. No manger or anyone to talk to other than front desk who states there’s nothing he can do or help with. Very disappointed. Do NOT recommend. Do yourself a favor and just drive home.
Kristin W — Google review
The room was quite dirty, with black mold in the shower, on the walls and ceiling, and a sticky black spot on the carpet. We had to cover it with a piece of plastic to avoid ruining more socks. Noise was also an issue, though I understand that's not entirely the hotel's fault. Given these problems, I'll be considering other hotels in the area for my next visit to Grand Rapids."

Stay here if you love cold showers. Mediocre hotel with a large room and no hot water in sink or shower. Had the exact same experience in another location last weekend. Only stayed because it was part of a stay to play volleyball tournament. If you have any other choice don’t pick Comfort Suites (unless you enjoy cold showers).

Update - Norma refused to have a conversation about our stay even though she wasn’t there during the stay. I think her ego has interfered with her ability to empathize. She advised that she would call back within 24 hours but instead avoided the interaction. After contacting her again, she sent her receptionist to handle the situation. Her poor receptionist, Carol, had comprehension issues and struggled to articulate the message from Norma. “No refunds”. Ironically, I never asked for one. I asked for a conversation because I have video proof of the issues. Time stamped. Interacting with me would have forced her to admit fault and I believe that that’s something she struggles with. A terrible character flaw at her old age. We had a disappointing stay at Comfort Suites. Our room had two TVs—neither of which worked—and several broken light switches. When I called the front desk, they told me they were at capacity and couldn’t move us or send anyone to fix the issue. We also asked for more towels and were told there were none available due to capacity. When I called to speak with the manager (Norma), she told me, “We’re not in the business of giving out free money—we’re in the business of making money.” That response was unprofessional and unacceptable. I paid for services I didn’t receive, and instead of care or accountability, I got attitude. Would not recommend.

I recently stayed here with my son and girlfriend. We got a joint room the first room bed bugs kept crawling on my son making him freak out. "I took pictures". I went down to the front desk to ask for a refund. They said they can't issue a refund, I have to wait on a manager in the morning. They moved me to another room. That room had thick dust and nasty black something in the toilet ." I took pictures of it ". It mad my son and I sick. I asked for a refund again. The front desk said, you'll have to wait for management in the morning. We got to sick to stay.. so we left. I called to talk to management the next day. Idk if it was management i talk to. They said it's been sent to the G.m.. All I can say is I hope it's not a spin move, to not give me a refund. It's sad a 8 year old had to experience this... Fillow up: Tomorrow will be a week. I still haven't heard from the Gm or anyone. Obviously they don't care about customer service or People's Health. I still haven't been issued a refund not like I'm asking for much. Especially after the experience had there. So good luck whoever stays here. 😞

Arrived at hotel. Checked in. We had 2 rooms booked. Get up to room and the door looks like it has been busted in. The keys will not work. Go back to lobby, lady acts irritated she has to fix keys. She resets it. I go back to room and it still doesn't work. I go to the second room and it's so dirty. Dirt in all the corners of the room. The pillow cases have stains on them. The bed has hair under the covers. The dresser was chipped and crappy looking. I went back to lobby and said we just wanted a refund. The lady was so mad. She said I needed to go get my stuff immediately and leave. I told the other guests to at least check rooms b4 checking in. This angered the lady even more. She said I needed to leave immediately. Which was fine except I wanted a receipt for the cancellation. They say my card will be refunded in 5-7 days. We never even saw the second room.

We booked adjacent rooms one with a king and one with two doubles. They gave us a king and one double right next to the laundry and entrance from the lobby. While waiting to get this figured out we saw individuals stumbling around that definitely appeared homeless. I imagine this place is used as a homeless shelter overflow site. While I support those options for that community, I didn't imagine it would be in the hotel we booked, with our two teenagers, for the weekend to see our nephew graduate from college. We immediately booked a different hotel and left! Editing to add they charged us 3x for rooms we did not use!

So we booked a room here for one night…..Hotel under renovation …..no problem…. Wasn’t picky just needed somewhere to sleep for a few hours… Since we knew we were going to be gone the whole day anyways .We were gone the whole day…… Came back around midnight. It is a smoke, free hotel, So I stepped outside to vape. Because i don’t know how that works. So common courtesy i go outside. One of my kids went downstairs to the front desk to ask the attendant, whose name was either Melanie or Melody for extra towels because some of the towels in the room were used to wipe down things that were dusty. The very rude and HIGHLY ignorant attendant ask my kid if there’s only supposed to be five people to a room what do you need two Extra sets Of towels for? And gave her one set. When I go back to the room to get in my shower, I asked the kids if they were able to get extra towels for the room. They tell me about the interaction and how the attendant was rude and told them she wasn’t giving them no more towels without the other Towel towels coming back and they didn’t need more than one Set of towels Anyways. Bringing the towels back to the front desk would not have been a problem. But if you’re in a customer service position, you should act as if you have some sense especially when talking to people kids. And if you hate your job…… And just wanna lay back at the front desk and text……. You should probably get another job. I go downstairs and ask her what is the issue of being given extra towels? I have never stayed at a hotel who has an issue with giving you extra towels. if your hotel is dusty, we are not complaining …..and we use the towels to wipe down the dust, do you expect for my kids to use the same towels that we used to wipe down dust to wash their butts? Her response to me after putting her cell phone away……” You don’t have to stay here you can go find somewhere else to stay” I tell her that is fine refund me my money so I can go book another room. She responds “ I’m not refunding you nothing but you are about to get outta here”. And I told her that’s the problem with black women and why they call us ignorant and put us in a box, because your customer service is horrible. She called the police….. told them that I was aggressive and has a police escort me and my children out of the hotel at 1 AM and refused to refund my money. There was no intense arguing there was no screaming match…… Just rudeness and ignorance. This was our second time coming here because the morning lady was really nice and accommodating The last time we were here….. And the lady who serves breakfast in the morning. And even though they were under construction, we came back to what we knew would be OK since we live three hours away. Or at least what we thought would be OK. I have never in life been put out of anywhere before, but to have my kids and myself Escorted out of a hotel at 1 o’clock in the morning by police???? OVER NEEDING/REQUESTING TOWELS ???!!!!!!!! My mom, who also had a room at this hotel, comes down to the lobby and sees us being get squirted out by police… And ask her “ So you’re putting my daughter out of a hotel for towels” She tells my mom That my kids were Loud while I was outside. But that wasn’t her problem. And that she only requested at the other towels come back to the desk first. We will never return. Not ever. And the mattress was dirty. I came back this morning requesting my money be sent back to my card. And was told the general manager isn’t here and that’s who has to issue a refunds. And I should be hearing from her Tomorrow morning. We will see how that goes…… After the high level of unprofessionalism and ignorance displayed last night……and After reading reviews, Wish I had done before I booked, I’m not that hopeful That will happen. But we will see Edited update…… As I stated…… No phone call back from any manager.

This hotel has fallen into disrepair. It has also transitioned to hosting local, long-term rentals. We were given a room in the middle of a remodel. We were on the second floor, and the hallway carpet and underlayment were torn up. The drywall was torn off up to the wainscot trim (including our room). You could see the plumbing for our room from the hallway. The hallway floor was covered with rusty nails, and construction debris. The room smelled funny, like they were attempting to cover musty smells with too much freshener. It looks like they had a 3rd floor flood that did substantial damage to a quad of rooms below. We stayed for three days while visiting family. The long-term guests made breakfast challenging. On several occasions the guests would "clean-out" the breakfast items and leave. You had to be quick when breakfast items were replenished. We eventually chose to go out for breakfast rather than compete. Room was ok. Nothing special. A/C didn't work properly. Face plate had been ripped off of the controls so figuring out the "mode" and "fan speed" took some trial and error. The TV would only show TBS...and would not change channels. Front desk told us to reseat the cables, and gave me instructions for reprogramming the remote (which was for a different TV model) and a channel list. Overall...it's a place to sleep and get a shower. Lots of noise from kids running up and down halls. We won't stay again. When booking a hotel through their corporate site, it should warn you that the property is undergoing repairs or construction. The front desk attendant did mention this hotel is leaving the Choice Hotels family.

I don’t ever leave reviews but out of the goodness of my heart, I have to do this. This is the worst place you could ever stay. The rooms and the entire hotel is dirty. It gives the ick vibe- I didn’t want to touch anything. The lady at the front desk- Michelle maybe? She was also part of the problem. She basically sat outside with her husband/boyfriend and their two dogs all day/night. Smoking cigarettes and having one of her dogs (the German Sheppard) off leash. Which, isn’t scary to us but could be very scary to people who are afraid of dogs. Her boyfriend/husband’s car was parked in the front handicapped spot the entire time. No sticker or hanging sign from his mirror. My mom stayed here with us and she is handicapped so that spot was taken from someone who actually needed it. We also asked Michelle for an extra pillow and she was so irritated and she never came back with one. I really offended her, apparently. Or she was really in a rush to go smoke more cigarettes. All around awful! Please don’t stay here! We came to the area for an MS walk but there were so many other big events happening that weekend so most of the good hotels were taken!

This hotel is awful !!!!!! The expedia reviews which is where i booked through said it was a great hotel. There is construction going on which the smells of whatever they are using mixed with mold is unbearable. I have asthma and have had to use my inhaler many times since getting here. We have only had to be here a few hours and thankfully leave in the morning. I do NOT suggest staying here moldy room, employees folding towels at the front desk so gross !!! Empty vending machines, many people i have seen at the desk complaining. One waiting at the desk to speak to an employee as one employee was laying on the couch in the lobby and one at the table outside. I would love to speak to a manager !!

My buddy got a room here & I have stopped by a few times. The rooms are super nice! In the lobby they have a table set up with lemon water, coffee, hot tea, etc. that is set up 24/7 for hotel customers & their guests, which is a nice add-on! I mean, considering it IS A HOTEL THAT IS BY HILTON, I guess that is probably pretty standard/not TOO big of a deal OR surprise. Just thought it was a nice little extra commodity, is all... 😁🙂😊💯❤️

This hotel needs some serious help. The whole building smells pretty bad. The elevator has clear water damage and rotting mildew in it. The only room I have ever stayed in with no phone. The room has many issues, curtains look like a cats scratching post, the sink faucet leaks from the handle, kitchen is missing trim. Water took about 15 min to get hot. And maybe worst of all, severely damaged and sharp tile in the kitchen. You or a child could easily cut their bare feet in the kitchen. Do yourself a favor stay somewhere else.

Where to start with this place! My room looks nothing like the rooms on the website! Total bait and switch! The room is a complete dump and shouldn’t be in service. Looking at other bad reviews on here and it looks like this room isn’t the only one. This hotel should be condemned for black mold. Attempted to cancel my reservation for the second night of our stay and Hilton is flat out refusing to refund our money! At breakfast this morning there were several employees clogging up the line serving themselves BEFORE the guests during peak dining hour! Again terrible service! I doubt I will ever stay at another Hilton brand hotel again!!! I would leave a zero star review if Google allowed it.

If you need to stay in the area I recommend the home2suites down the road. This place is nasty! Our first room had a broken heater and the second room heater was filled with mold. My family is fleeing a mold rental home so this was not negotiable for us. The front desk offered for us to upgrade but then minutes later the room was apparently then booked. The night desk guy isn’t even remotely helpful. No pack n play for my son even though we were told they had plenty. No refund or room switch even after finding visible mold growth in the window. I left with my baby, autistic daughter, elderly mother and dog at 11pm because it was simply too dangerous to stay.

Over all the room was nice. However, we paid for a premium and didn't get the premium offers. There was some issues inside the room damage to the bedroom door, broke tiles in the kitchen area. Bathroom like went out for about 30 minutes then came on. Ladies at the front were friendly. Probably will stay here again without paying the extra for the premium room.

. I will start by saying that I am not a frequent business traveler, but I travel with my family and have liked Homewood Suits by Hilton for their convenience ever since we had little children. Homewood Suites in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is very disappointing. It does not feel like a Hilton hotel over here.. we checked in on Saturday night, and the front desk was managed by a man who looked like he was in high school and was extremely rude and talking to us as if he was doing us a favor. We asked for blankets twice on Sunday as our son was sleeping on the sofa bed, and each time, the blankets were in the dryer. We asked that he have someone leave a blanket in our room when the drying is done, but he said he could do that because they were first come, first serve. We also did not find the kitchen as stocked as usual, so we asked if he could get a few extra things when he waved us off. Robin was at the front desk on Monday evening and, for the first time, treated us like we were used to being treated at a Hilton property. When we asked for an extra blanket, she asked if we would like extra bedding for the sofa bed and gave us an additional set of sheets and a pillow. We asked her to ensure we were on Tuesday's housekeeping schedule. But We did not find our beds made when we came into our room on Tuesday. We got the impression that housekeeping had skipped us again. Then we discovered we had fresh towels in our room, so I guess housekeeping did come but didn’t bother making our beds. In what hotel would housekeeping come into your room, change your towels, but not even make your beds? This hotel is a dark spot in the Hilton portfolio, and I am very disappointed with the experience here so far. The fact that I have to be here the whole week is sad. I will add one note about the breakfast. I’m a reasonable person, and if the breakfast is complimentary, I imagine each hotel will do whatever they feel like with the complimentary breakfast options. Hence, the options are what they are. Still, they have a two-slice capacity toaster that feels like it belongs in a dorm room. Can’t they even bother buying one of those commercial good-quality four-slice toasters so that folks don’t have to wait in line? We returned on Wednesday, and housekeeping has skipped us entirely. This hotel is trying to disappoint its guests and keeps sinking lower. Unacceptable. Update: the breakfast really dropped several levels on Thursday and Friday, to the extent that Friday was just cereal and milk. But on the positive side, at last, housekeeping was kind on Thursday and serviced our room when we were out on Thursday. And we saw a new 4-slice toaster as we were leaving on Saturday.

Overall, my stay was ok. The service at the front desk was good and friendly and the hot breakfast was good. The room was functional, spacious and did meet my basic needs. However, I don't feel it was worth the amount of money I paid for it. The cons- the microwave was damaged. The shower needs serious grout work before structural damage begins to occur. There is only 1 really small trashcan The body soap and conditioner were completely empty The kitchenette floor was sticky. There needs to be better nighttime monitoring of noise levels in the halls Again, a serviceable and met my needs but not worth the amount I payed.
Benjamin S — Google review
This hotel needs some renovations desperately. It’s convenient to stores and airport, the staff are kind and friendly, the lobby is decent but my room left A LOT to be desired. The towels were clean and fluffy, the microwave and tv were decent but the rest was just not good. The hard floors have some weird film on them. The carpet has bare spots. The furniture is worn. The drawer in the dresser is broken, its missing a handle and won’t open. The bed dips in the middle. The toilet seat isn’t fully attached to the toilet and makes for a fun surprise when you sit down and get up. The kitchen is missing most of its dishes and cookware. I tried to stick it out but when I woke up to a dead bug on the floor I couldn’t stay. Other reviews are positive maybe mine was just a bad room. I could’ve asked for a different room but I just felt really uncomfortable staying.

On average, the cost per night is around $121 on Sundays compared to the pricier Saturday rate of about $154 per night.
The lady at the front desk was the only thing that deserves any recognition. And the man at the front desk later. The room was super hot. I understand there is a heat wave, but the room should not be a sauna with the AC on. The carpet floor had a large stain. The size of throw up, or a diarrhea dump. Luckily there was no smell of human waste.. only cigarettes. I got a smoke free room, yet i basically smoked a pack from the walls. Bathroom was functional. LOL. The toilet was fine.. the showers were a no go. I would not recommend this place at all unless you would like motivation to bust your ass to make more money. Did not take any pictures.. i do not want any remnants of that hotel on my phone

There was mold on the bathroom do to there being no fan. They lied about having a hot tub. Breakfast was fine, exactly what you expect from this location. The photos of the building are outdated. Not even enough pillows for the bed.

Booked two joined rooms traveling with 4 kids and two adults. Picked this due to the option and it having a pool for the kids. The front desk was awful! I should have known. When checking in he gave me a key for floor 2 and then said wait a second while I find your other room. I said well I clicked joined rooms so I can keep the kids with me it was available so I purchased that option and paid more to do so. He then told me he could put the kids across the hall from me. My kids are all 12 and under. I said why is there the option to book them that way if it’s not available. He told me no it’s not. I said yes I have worked in hotels you just said there are open rooms please check. The other front desk staff came over showed him in the computer how to get me to joined room and they had many!! Then we settle in run to Walmart for some amenities come back to go swimming after he told me the pool was open till 11 and my room key would get me in. So we come back go up a little before 10 there is a sign that’s says you need a separate key for the pool. I send the two oldest boys down to get a key and my oldest calls and tells me the same guy said it’s closed. We can see at least 5 people in the pool and area. I go down to talk to him and he says pool is closed. I showed him the picture I took of the sign that’s says it’s open till 11. He said yeah my manager messaged me it closes at 10 tonight. I said can I see the text? He he’s asleep. I said his text on your phone is asleep. He followed with why would you ask to see such a personal thing. I said why would you use a personal text as the excuse? Guy was awful obviously either didn’t like me and my family but ruined the entire visit. The hotel is old run down and dirty glad we only have the one night. But unless you want dirty, smelly, rude service, no help, and a miserable experience DONT STAY HERE!!

Not sure if the franchise takes to much of a cut or the owners pocket to much of the income but they are not spending money on maintenance or staff. When the front desk was asked for sheets for the pull out couch they said they didnt have any and did not offer any other options/solutions, acting like they could careless. The bathrooms have seen better days in the lobby and rooms. The beds were clean even though the carpets in the rooms feel like they have never been deep cleaned. The phone in the room didnt work either. Also one bath towel for 4 guests seems a little lacking but we didn't bother to ask about another after the sheet situation.

This place was really bad guys. We drove up and I already knew I made a mistake by booking it. There were sketchy people loitering around the parking lot late at night. I thought our car wouldn’t broken into. The hallways smelled like death and cigarettes. It got worse when we got to our room. It was dark, dingy and the sheets were stained and covered in other people’s hair. The shower was stained with who knows what. We left immediately and asked for a full refund which they gave us. The lady at the front desk was sweet and understanding and that’s the only nice thing I have to say about this place. Avoid at all costs

This hotel doesn't even deserve a 1 star. DO NOT STAY HERE. This is the nastiest hotel I have ever been in. They advertise a hot tub which they DO NOT have. The pool is disgusting and the concrete around the pool doesn't look like it's been properly cleaned in years. If you have allergies beware. The musty odor going into the pool area is extremely strong. The room is filthy. Baseboards falling off walls. The bathroom has moldy grout around the tub. Tub is stained and there is a steady stream of water running in the tub that can't be shut off. The "balcony is nothing but a weedy area outside the sliding door with a bench and tons of cigarette butts all over the ground". The lamps didn't have light bulbs. I would sleep in my car before staying in this dive!!!

This definitely a skid row motel... Supposed to be no smoking but the whole 3rd floor reeks like a bag of skunks following you. The strong oder of skunk weed burns yours eyes.... Continental breakfast is 6am to 8 or 9am. As soon as time is up they take everything including coffee cups and sugar packets up. No straw or even plastic wear to be seen. As for rooms the bathroom is less than desirable. Tub stained and looks filthy, bathroom door has been kicked off it's hinges and busted. I personally will not be extending my stay here. It is now July 12, 2025 and I have still not received my $50.00 deposit back. Go figure!

Probably one of, if not the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I get that they are going through a remodel, but rooms that are in the condition such as mine was need to be taken offline until completion. From mold in the ceiling, to fresh urine left in the toilet, my room was disgusting. The pictures in their postings are definitely misleading and I would recommend to stay way far away from this hotel and the area in general.

Nestled in the heart of Grand Rapids, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Grand Rapids is a cozy retreat that combines comfort with convenience. This hotel features 80 well-appointed rooms, an inviting indoor pool, and a fitness center for those looking to stay active during their travels. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and parking, along with a hearty hot breakfast each morning.
I've stayed here many times, never had an issue. The room is clean, TV, microwave, mini fridge, everything was fresh, no foul smells. The toilet is loose, but not worthy of a rant. We obviously were in a room that hasn't been renovated yet. Breakfast is 7-10, we went down around 9:20 and everything was out... the breakfast gal was slow on keeping it filled and when she did she only brought out about 6 pieces of bacon at a time - there's 4 of us standing here waiting on food. 🙄 Check in process was smooth, staff was friendly each time we entered we were greeted with a smile. Very peaceful stay.

Not ready for Prime Time - 5 Strikes First, the elevator was out of service, so I was left to haul a 40 lb. suitcase plus backpack and groceries up the stairs. All good, I could use the exercise. Second, the carpet on the stairs looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed since the Obama administration. No biggie. Third, the body wash dispenser was empty in the shower. Now, I’m starting to get annoyed. Fourth, I ask them to make up my room the next morning and refill the body wash. Think any of that was done? Of course not. Now I’m aggravated. Fifth, I checked out at 5:30am. They couldn’t give me a receipt because they don’t check out guests before 6:30. It’s like the Hotel California, this place. Was conveniently located, but their act needs to get together.

Absolutely Awful Stay – One of the Worst Hotel Experiences of My Life I stayed at this hotel for five nights last week, and I can confidently say it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a Marriott property — or any hotel, for that matter. The staff were shockingly rude and clearly untrained. The front desk manager, in particular, was extremely unprofessional and downright impolite. Rather than addressing my concerns or offering an apology, she repeatedly made excuses and dismissed the issues as if they weren’t her responsibility. I emailed the hotel twice to follow up — not a single reply. Completely ignored. The room itself was filthy. Despite multiple requests, it was cleaned only once during my entire stay. I asked daily for the room to be cleaned, but it never happened. No fresh towels, no clean blankets, and no willingness from the staff to provide them either. The bed was uncomfortable, the sheets felt unwashed, and basic necessities were just… missing. Every evening after work, I returned to the same dirty room. No service, no accountability — just neglect. When I tried to speak with someone at the front desk, the manager was nowhere to be found. She was usually outside, vaping and scrolling through her phone, completely ignoring calls and in-person requests. This hotel does not meet even the most basic standards of hospitality or cleanliness. I’m shocked that it’s associated with the Marriott brand. It was an unacceptable experience from start to finish, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Avoid it at all costs.

Stayed 5 nights in July. Have to mention 3 excellent team members (there were more, just didn't get their names). The GM, Ty was extremely friendly, accommodating, always greeting us with a smile & eager to help in any way. Same was true for Will in maintenance and Barry at reception. The hotel is in the middle of a reno, which will be lovely when completed. But that does mean construction is happening in the hallways and loading on the already extremely slow (1)elevator. So, we took the stairs up & down to 3rd floor as much as possible (good exercise).

Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend The only positive about this hotel was its convenient location. Beyond that, our experience was frustrating and disappointing from the start. When we arrived in the early evening, we waited over 15–20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us at the front desk. When someone finally did check us in, I was genuinely surprised to learn she worked there—her appearance (leggings and a revealing cami top) was far from professional and not at all what you’d expect from hotel staff. That would be the first and last time we saw anyone at the front desk during our entire three-day stay. There was zero presence or assistance from staff afterward. Another major issue: the hotel was under renovation, which we were not informed of at any point before booking or during check-in. We found out the hard way—stepping off the elevator into what looked like a construction zone with paint splattered everywhere, loud music, and shouting coming from the rooms being worked on. It completely disrupted the atmosphere and sense of comfort. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but on the first morning, no food had been put out. No signage, no explanation, and again—no staff to even ask. To top it all off, my husband believed he left his sandals in the room. We called the hotel just 7 hours after checking out, only to be told that housekeeping hadn’t even cleaned our room yet. The staff member on the phone told us to call back the next day. When my husband explained that we had friends currently staying at the hotel who could retrieve them, we were told they'd check and call us back—but they never did. Overall, this was a poorly managed hotel with minimal service, lack of communication, and a generally unprofessional environment. Definitely would not recommend staying here until they get their operations and hospitality up to standard.

I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels around the world, small airport hotels, from the 1970s to today. But this hotel was one of the worst. There was a gap in the door you could see clearly into the hallway, the deadbolt lock didn’t lock, you could hear the upstairs guest walking as if they were in your room, the entire hotel was under construction, the gym was closed, the parking lot had debris everywhere. The fee they charged was higher than that of other Fairfield’s in town and no mention of construction. Please do yourself a favor and do not stay at this location. I asked for a refund but only got $64 back matching the price of the other Fairfield’s in town. Sad as the Marriott brand is so highly rated.

They won't tell you that they are doing construction and that the elevator doesn't always work. I've stayed in plenty of hotels where they were doing construction and have never been placed RIGHT next to the loud and dustry construction area. Between my mother's allergies and my nephew's asthma, we knew we would need to switch rooms. However, as we went down to request the change...we got stuck in the elevator. Luckily for us, the maintenance man was on site so we were only stuck for 10 minutes but he told us how the week before, people got stuck and he wasn't there. So who knows how long those poor folks were stuck. So the hotel is very aware that their elevator needs to be fixed, yet continue to let guests use it. We ended up having to cancel our reservation and hastily try to find another hotel that had two last minute-rooms. Maybe this might be an amazing hotel once they finish construction, but until then...book somewhere else.

Lacks respect for guests. Allows teenagers to run up and down the halls at 2 a.m. for hours. If the parents don’t want to parent the hotel should step in and tell kids that the hotel isn’t a playground and people are sleeping. Totally took over the pool playing baseball. We did not get to swim do to this. Crazy how 10 kids can take over an entire hotel and the hotel does nothing.

Was in a suite on the first floor and it was right next to the elevator and also was right next to the main parking spots in front of the building so it was loud all evening. Thought you paid extra for a suite for a better location in the hotel like usually on the top floor and a better room. Room was still pretty small but was clean. Breakfast was OK. Pretty much what you expect from a hotel. Didn't eat breakfast the second morning wasn't really worth it. Walls are really thin. Could hear the man in the room next to me peeing in his bathroom when I was in my bathroom. Definitely wouldn't stay next time I'm in Michigan. 400.00 for two nights was kinda pricey for all the noise.

Beautiful New Clean Hotel !! I would give this hotel a 5 ‘🌟, but sadly I cannot. I have stayed at JUST opened hotels before, but nothing prepared me for how made the breakfast experience was. 7:30 am and every item was out, I mean completely out. The juice machine was out, soft drink machine was out. No fruit, waffles, eggs, sausage… absolutely everything was out!!! I went to the employee kitchen prep area asked if we could have anything.. sorry, “No we have nothing everything is out, I am on the phone “ When I asked are they going to refill, she stated that she didn’t speak any English, We have No More Food. This was my first time ever staying at a Staybridge, and I am unsure if I will attempt to do so in future. The price of the room would have been reasonable if it would have included a breakfast. This FALSE advertisement upon check-in. Because after 30 minutes of breakfast opening with only a handful of customers there should have been something.. I am hoping corporate will reach out to me and make this right. Customer service should be a top priority in the Hotel Industry. If not, my followers on all my social media platforms will hear of my experience. I witnessed Several customers who stated that they were angry, and said they would not be staying there again because of this. They would have to seek out breakfast somewhere else. Absolutely inexcusable for any type of customer related service business.!

The location is great. Around a bunch of things to eat and a grocery store if you need anything. It's also pretty close to downtown grand rapids and other cities. I love the shower. The bed is good. The only major issue I have is the A/C is a little loud and there is a lot of poop on the ground on the one side entrance

An amazing hidden gem! The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. One of them posts weather and a joke of the day on a whiteboard in the lobby. I loved it! The lobby is inviting with TVs. Breakfast included, even have a light snack Mon-Wed. Rooms were spacious and had a fully equipped kitchen. My only comment is the hallways are hot and the luggage cart wheels need to be replaced. I'll be back for sure!

Highly disappointed, and that's an understatement. The only temperature for the water in the rooms was scalding hot. The first room we had, every water source burned us. The second room it was more tolerable but still hot, no cold water at all, we had to drink hot water. The TV kept going out, and I had to get up every hour to turn the AC back on by hitting the motion sensor. The room went from 64 to 75 every hour. At 4:30 AM the smoke detector started beeping and never stopped. We were there for 8.5 hours and got 1.5 hours of sleep. My husband has a 12 hour shift today, and he's so angry he didn't get to sleep because of these issues. It wasn't worth what we paid. "sorry for the inconvenience". sorry not sorry for your lawsuit! my lawyer will be in contact :) we were BURNED from your water. that resulted in INJURIES.

My experience at Quality Inn was overall great while I was there for 5 days. There was only 1 night when it got a bit crazy, but overall the room was clean, their breakfast was great and their customer service was fantastic. I especially appreciated Laura's show of kindness in helping me with my laundry. She did not need to go out of her way to help me, but she did and for that I am grateful. Thank you so much for your act of kindness Laura E. Please know that I appreciate you.

Okay, it’s definitely a budget hotel. For the price it had many amenities, but I would personally stay away from this place. If you need a cheap place to stay for the night, fine, but it is disgusting. My room smelled like urine and cigarettes. The bed was very clearly remade and had dead ants all over it. The shower only ran cold water and the pool was so dirty I could not bring myself to swim in it. Housekeeping genuinely does the bare minimum. When we entered our room the bed looked like it had been slept in, there was no toilet paper, and there was hair all over the bathroom. The vending machines have no soda in them and the breakfast was sour. They do have a wide selection for breakfast, but I would not recommend eating it. The front desk lady was also accusing my partner and I of being under 18 while trying to check in (we are both 21). Really weird vibes. It was a bed to sleep in, sure, but I would have rather spent the extra $30 to stay in a holiday inn.

The room was relatively clean and nice. The refrigerator worked but a part of it was broken. Jacuzzi was discussing, super slippery, and not safe for getting in and out of. Plus don't over fill it before getting in. Once we got in, water went everywhere. Then we had to find a tool to get the drain plug out of the drain because it was broken. Also don't recommend extra curricular activities (if you know what I mean) on the bed. The mattress easily moved and tried to kill us twice before we gave up on it. The bathroom is so small that even a little lady had to walk through the doorway sideways. The area is definitely not the greatest either especially for a female spending most of the time alone. Plus it also took forever to get someone in the office to be able to check out even tho it was exact check out time and there was already a different employee cleaning out breakfast. Plus all I had to do was hand them the key. They need a drop box for keys when checking out.

I was pleasantly surprised how nice the room was for the price and area. We didn't want to stay in the city so I booked here. The rate was less than half of a room in downtown Grand Rapids because it's a really low-income area. The man working in the lobby was very pleasant. The lobby was very clean and breakfast was awesome. I'd stay there again but only when I wasn't alone. (I listed some details, like everything served for breakfast, below.)

Nice hotel all around. The place was dated but clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. It has a pool but not a hot tub. Breakfast was good, they had a decent variety to choose from. The neighborhood was a little sketchy, we witnessed a police chase and there were a few panhandlers around.

My daughter and friends stayed here. Said a concert they went to was great, but the hotel, this Quality Inn, was bad, real bad as in disgusting. I think a complaint to corporate is called for, though I wonder of their standards. We shall soon find out. Quality Inn name should never be assumed that good quality is in reference.

Visitors have found the accommodations clean, welcoming, and recommendable for a pleasant stay. This hotel by far exceeded my expectations. Susan was very helpful on the phone booking the room when I was having trouble with the Wyndham website. Service was also excellent during check in. The room was spotlessly clean and was extremely comfortable. Free breakfast in the morning is always a plus as well. I can’t recommend this hotel enough!

Absolutely do not stay here! This Inn is not well maintained and wouldn’t remain open if it wasn’t receiving funding from the state to house the homeless which are now squatting in rooms tearing them apart. First room did not have a hair dryer, wanting to swim, we asked if we could have a dryer. We are instead moved to a new room and offered 1PM check out. By time all my stuff is moved and I’m settled back in, I’m now ready to swim, but it’s after midnight and the pool is no longer open. I go to take a shower and can’t help but laugh when I pull the shower nozzle and it pulls clean out of the spout. Upon notifying the front desk, we are then given a THIRD room, and told we’d receive a refund for the night. The next morning, we check in with the new manager on duty to make sure the overnight manager notified him of our issues. The manager was already made aware of the issue, informed us our refund was already processing, before we retreated to our room to finish our morning. Around 11:45, the manager comes beating on our door, yelling. When my boyfriend opened the door, the manager is now physically coming into contact with him, trying to push through the door frame, despite the 1PM checkout time. We remind him we were promised late checkout, and he agrees to leave our room. At 12:00, he is now back at our door, yelling and screaming. He doesn’t stop pushing until, he sees through the open door, that we are working on packing a cart to take transport our things to the car. We check out at 1:00 and the manager refuses to give out his superiors information. Unprofessional/illegal behavior far from hospitality standards. After leaving the facility, we noticed a few hours later, there is a new charge from here, 5x the cost of our room rate for the night. Charge will be dispute. Corporate and BBB have been contacted. Stay away.

The management was nice. The room was disgusting. Tub was peeling , toilet seat was falling off. The outside balcony was gross. We walked in got into our room and left within 10 minutes. Photos online did not look like this. They agreed to refund our entire deposit we paid for the room. We had to locate a hotel elsewhere.
Laurie ᗪ — Google review
Don’t stay here if you are a frequent traveler and expect a clean room. Ladies in the front desk were nice. I took the bed apart, my bed is clean, everything else is filthy dirty or needs an upgrade. I question management and does this franchise or hotel owner have a hospitality background? Worst decision made.
Nelly L — Google review
This place is absolutely disgusting. There were bed bugs, dirty in under the bed, the shower was filthy, and there were stains on the floor that looked like blood. We walked into the room and immediately left canceling our reservation and finding a new hotel that wasn’t infested. After a full day of going back and forth with the third party booking company and the hotel I was told that “management has advised not to issue a refund” because they “checked” the room and found no bugs. Clearly they check the room like they clean…not at all. And of course the manager is unavailable to speak to. I wish I would have taken more pictures but I didn’t want to stay in that infested room longer than necessary.
Breanna D — Google review
I've stayed in a lot of hotels and this one was one of the worst. My room was really dirty. The beds were clean and it looked like everything had been dusted/wiped after the last guest, but i didn't want to walk in the floors without socks on. Breakfast was nothing but old donuts, cereal, and terrible coffee. I would never stay here again.
Emily H — Google review
IF I COULD GIVE THIS 0 STARS I WOULD . NEVER COME TO THIS🤮🤮🤮 Our room was revolting the smoke detector was covered in plastic so assuming they were people smoking in the room. The room had stains on the ground that looked like blood. Shower was filthy. Plastic parts on the ground was falling apart.

This place should charge $20 a night, the carpet was disgusting and stuck to the bottom of my shoes. The male staff doesn't believe in smiling nor speaking to customers. He made me feel creeped out. I also felt like I was in a rehab facility or half house. I don't recommend this hotel at all!!

Fantastic Stay! Home2 Suites Grand Rapids North exceeded expectations-clean, spacious rooms, friendly staff, and a great location. The breakfast was fresh, the amenities were top-notch, and it truly felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend!

The location is good, lots of stores and restaurants around if needed. The room we had was excellent because it had a separate room with a door for us and a pull out couch in the main living area that our daughter could use. The pool room smelled weird and the floors and loungers were not very clean. There was also either a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector that needed batteries changed in the pool room because it keep chirping. The hot tub is tiny and the overall area feels very outdated compared to the nice decor and feel of the rest of the hotel. The beds were very comfortable in our room but the sound proofing was horrible. We were woken up a few times by people on the floor above us walking or running very loudly. Would consider combing back but would only stay in the top floor due to the sound issue .
Nora G — Google review
It's located near restaurants and grocery markets. And I felt it's located in quiet and safe area. Room was ok and clean and they had a indoor pool, fitness room and patio with grill outside. Breakfast service was good. One thing I desired was the smell of the room. Smells from carpet were like sweaty foot odor even though it was not much strong but not that much weak.
Rachel P — Google review
Clean but a little outdated. Breakfast was pretty good. Our one bedroom suite was enormous in size but sparsely furnished so it made it look like they either forgot to include chairs or made it look cheap on purpose. Hot tub jets in pool area were out of order. The pool towels are a joke, they are hand towels with a blue stripe. Very unfriendly laser printed signs in pool area, not welcoming at all. See attached pics. Room was quiet as even numbered rooms do not face I-96.

September 2025 This hotel is not meeting basic requirements of the Hilton family hotels. Area of need to be improved: Toilets Bed lines Room floor BREAKFAST (was awful) We wre basically disappointed with stay here. No go.
Eric T — Google review
The rooms are clean, but the pillows are some of the worst I’ve ever dealt with. And the blanket on the bed is razor thin. Walls are paper thin And they do nothing about the noise in the hallways. On checkin day there was a sign that the pool was down for the day for cleaning. No problem. Next day sign is still up. So I ask about it “oh let me go check the water it should be available in an hour” check back multiple times “oh I’ll go do that now”. Checkout 3 days later. Sign still up. One of them had the nerve to say “well you wouldn’t want to swim in dirty water would you”. lol. Okay yeah fair but I also expect you to keep it clean And not have it down for a week at a time. Overall the attitude here seems meh. Also can’t stand when they allow smoking And place the little smoking trash things so close to An entrance.
Drew C — Google review
No complaints. It was a nice quiet stay for my wife and I. The breakfast was good too. Nice outdoor patio with a gas fire place as well.
Aaron R — Google review
The staff was polite, but that’s about the only positive here. The place looks much nicer in photos than it does in person. The room smelled odd, and a bit worn down with so many scratches everywhere. It was clean and functional, but overall this is not my cup of tea.Definitely I won’t be returning.

The Travelodge by Wyndham Grand Rapids North is a low-key motel with some casual rooms and an outdoor pool. It offers free Wi-Fi and local calls in-room, as well as satellite TVs with HBO.
From the moment I walked in, Michelle made me feel welcome and comfortable. She was incredibly helpful, patiently answering all my questions with a smile and a positive attitude. Her efficiency and friendly demeanor made my experience truly enjoyable. Also, the rooms were exceptionally clean for the price. I will happily stay there again!

Chose this place because it was near Alpine NW Grand Rapids. Across the bridge is a whole different world I would say. This place was directly over the bridge. Brought my son and his friend with him because they had a basketball tournament. It was dirty, hair on pillows and in shower, stains on walls and bedding, floors were not clean, very outdated and tons of suspicious characters around. One review said it's a transition home for the homeless. I'd completely believe it. Did not notice any bugs but we left within 15 minutes if being their, booked a new hotel and were able to obtain a refund from the friendly understanding clerk. I did not feel safe their especially since the door wouldn't lock correctly. No air conditioning also.
Simon M — Google review
Do not trust Wyndham brand!! It’s cheap motel kind of hotel. We tried to check in and the reception told me that aircon is not working. Ok, fans in the room? No. Still ok, portable fans provided? No, keep window open if you want fresh air! Wow, so what kind of hotel is this?? In the morning, they might say sorry, we don’t have water. When asked what the options are, all they told me that I could cancel the booking! Someone travels for hours, goes to hotel only to find promised hotel amenities are not provided and all they get it option to cancel! What about great inconvenience the hotel causes? What about the plans that are screwed because you are left with no accommodation for the night? Avoid staying here as it’s one of the worst hotels! Wyndham is just fooling customers and they don’t deserve any business!
Ravi — Google review
This was an interesting stay. The room was dirty. The air conditioning didn't cool the room off. The shower was 0ld and out dated. The pool was closed and filthy. The plastic on the bed was quite annoying to sleep on, And the woman at the front desk wasn't very pleasant or accommodating. As we are both disabled. We will not recommend or be returning. Only convience was it was right off the freeway and only a few min from our true destination.
Katie T — Google review
For the price, it's not a bad motel. Right next to the interstate and plenty of food options very close. I mean literally every food option is nearby. We stayed here for a two day concert at Van Andel Arena and it was less then a ten minute drive to the arena parking lots. The rooms were clean as well as the bathrooms. The only complaint I had was that we put some leftovers in the provided mini fridge only to find out the next morning that it wasn't plugged in. And I was so looking forward to finishing that Italian sub that smelled so wonderful on my drive home!! Lol would 100% stay here again!

The worst hotel iv stayed in!!! Air barely worked, 20 cable channels, rooms smelled like cigarettes, no blankets, air filter moldy, nasty dirty people that live there letting there nasty kids run around parking lot playing all night beds where like laying on board , shower was not clean and a weird design!!!! I suggest sleeping in car over this hotel, even a box would have been better

Sonesta Hotel Grand Rapids Airport offers a pleasant stay in Grand Rapids, with Sunday being the most affordable day to book. The front desk staff is knowledgeable and courteous, ensuring a smooth check-in process. Guests appreciate the clean rooms and friendly service from the staff. However, some feedback mentioned issues with the bed comfort. Overall, it's a great choice for business meetings or leisure stays in the area.
I had a good experience here. I thought I should review to bring a little balance to all the negative reviews. My room was clean. The chair has seen better days, and there is a need for fresh caulking in the bathroom. Otherwise and most importantly, the bed was clean and so was the rest of the room. The interior is recently renovated and uses higher quality materials which is important when using the bathroom/bed. The rates for the rooms are great for what you get. People seemed to really enjoy the pool area. The front desk was always polite and helpful. Cary, one of the front desk managers, went out of his way to help me on multiple occasions. The location is really great. Close to many food options, malls, strips, etc.

We just had a great experience here! The manager who checked us in was more than polite and friendly. Our room was clean and the bathroom/shower was amazing. I had lost my ID in the parking lot and they called me and then brought it up to my room. It was nice they had a bar and even a small (limited menu) Starbucks in the lobby too. Would definitely stay here again! And the location was great!

Check in went great. We had the 2 Queen Kitchenette Suite. Highly recommend this room for families. They rooms are a bit older and and it definitely shows. Our pull out couch bed was dirty when we pulled it out and we had no bedding for it. We tried calling to the front desk and our phone didn't work. We went down to the pool and that was the highlight. Temperature was good and love that they have a section that is 1 foot deep that is great for kids. We went to the front desk and asked for a full set of bedding for the pull out in our room. Housekeeping came with only a fitted sheet and a sheet that was to small for the bed. We asked for pillows and that took forever and she had an attitude. We didn't even bother asking for the thicker blanket we just split the bedding. The pool was closed our second day and that was out their hands but definitely frustrating. However they got it up and running in the evening so we did get to play.

Overall lack of cleaning and maintenance has what could have been a great great stay in to a mediocre time. Trash and food from previous guests, hair on the walls and ceiling of the bathroom. Broken railings in the pool, toe nails by the hot tub, slide that has been broken for years. One entry door to our room did not work and the lock was messed up.
Christian C — Google review
Great location especially if you are traveling a long distance and need to stay just for the night. Very clean rooms and common areas, convenient location and friendly staff. Main doors are locked from the evening overnight, which is great. They also have a security team making rounds in the parking lot. Beds and pillows are comfortable for a great night sleep. I would stay here again
L B — Google review
I booked this through Expedia but they never mentioned that there was an extra $50 fee. The girl when we checked in had an attitude about it that wasn't pleasant. There were a lot of things I read in the reviews and pictures that made us choose this hotel but after getting there, it was totally different. No microwave wave in the room. Said it has free Continental breakfast but there was nothing except a limited hour restaurant which we decided not to go to because of her attitude. I chose a room for handicapped because I have problems walking. The room was passable. Couldn't find a light switch on the lamp. Had to find someone to take out our trash. The other front desk people were very nice. When we ran out of cups for coffee and coffee in the room, they delivered it. Plus we had to ask for toilet paper which they handed to us. The bed was the worst I have ever slept on. It was very uncomfortable!!! My side had a sunken depression where you would normally sit when you get into the bed. Being somewhat handicapped made it very difficult to get in and out of the bed. They really should replace the mattress in room 114! Only 2 chairs in the room. One at the desk and a low chair. Not a good room for a handicapped person. No luggage rack for suitcases. Only one deep drawer to put your clothes in. Also when they did come to change the towels, they didn't put washcloths in the bathroom. The only towel bar is in front of the sink. So if your towel is wet, you are leaning over that to use the sink. They really need to rethink their design for rooms for handicapped people because this room really didn't work for that. Even if you had a wheelchair, there was not enough room to maneuver.
Kristi M — Google review
Lobby area is nice, updated. All staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The room itself needed some love. Carpet kinda sticky, deadbolt didn't work, bathroom was ready for a good deep cleaning. In the pool area, neither the hot tub nor waterslide were functioning during our stay.
Shella J — Google review
Great experience overall. Price cant be best especially when the hotel is within a walking distance of a lot of food spots and a big mall. Only problems were that our AC unit failed and we had to switch rooms (which isn’t entirely the fault of the hotels). But the bigger issue is that since we stayed there for 2 weeks, we expected more house keeping. We asked the front desk many times to clean our room, replace bed sheets, and stock more towels and they did not. It wasn’t until we asked the fifth time to the housekeeping manager, then they finally did it. Overall a good experience though.

Downtown Grand Rapids' dog-friendly hotel Morton offers studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms that all come with a full kitchen, washer and dryer. The fitness center is also great for keeping you and your pup fit while in town.
We stayed at the Morton with our 2 dogs. The accommodations were excellent! Check in, building access and room access were all made super simple with keypad codes. The room was spacious and super clean. The indoor pet area is well kept and is a nice thoughtful touch for dog owners. Location is great, being just a couple blocks from many downtown restaurants and attractions, yet it still felt somehow quiet and separated from the busy streets. Overall, we would definitely recommend. This was probably the best hotel experience we've had with our dogs, who we like to bring with us whenever possible.

We loved the location conveniently located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. Easy access to restaurants and shops within walking distance. The room was modern, clean and perfect for our multi-day stay with our pup. The in-room kitchenette was a wonderful amenity. We love traveling with our pup and loved that The Morton specifically embraced you bringing your dog to stay with you which was certainly the selling point for choosing this hotel vs. all other Grand Rapids hotel options.
Joanna N — Google review
We (including Griffin, my bichon-poodle mix) had a wonderful stay at the hotel this past weekend! We found everything about our stay to be easy and comfortable. The email ahead of time from the hotel giving us the check-in PIN number and instructions was great. We just went right up to our room without waiting at the front desk. Parking was no problem, too. We parked at the Ionia/Pearl ramp which was less than a full block away. The room was so spacious and comfortable and dog-friendly! We had a two bedroom, 1 1/2 bath efficiency apartment. So much room to spread out! There were food and water bowls and poop bags for us to use. We didn’t really use all of the amenities - we went out for meals and drinks. The dog play area looked great (the concierge, Ethan, was really hospitable - actually showing us around instead of just describing it). The outdoor deck looked great, too, but we had other plans while we were there and weren’t able to use it. I will definitely be back with my dog the next time I’m in GR - it’s so nice to have such a cool place to stay that is dog-friendly. I wish there were more of these around the country!
Paul B — Google review
We loved the location, the amenities, ease of check in and especially that you were dog friendly! We were able to walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to (it was v cold, so a few places we took an uber). Most dog friendly hotels just let you bring your dog. The Morton, they WELCOME your pup! From the treats in the lobby, to the canine decor in our room, to the bowls and dog bed in the room we felt very comfortable and welcomed. The kitchen was amazing and had everything we needed to make breakfast every morning (except paper towels). The property was spotless and super secure. I can't say enough great things. We will definitely be back!!

Absolutely love this place!! 10/10, will stay again! We didn't even bring our pup but picked this place solely because of them promoting as a dog hotel. LOVE IT and will be bringing our baby next time. Check in and check out has never been easier! Our room was ready early. Furnished beautifully, fully stocked with dishes, washer/dryer, etc. Just can't say enough about it.
Jenn P — Google review
We absolutely loved our stay, as did our 3 Toy Fox Terriers. The room was spotless and beautiful. We loved having the convenience of the pet exercise and relief room in the basement. The only recommendations we have would be to have creamer in the room for coffee, tea bags and an extra roll of toilet paper in the vanity. We arrived to a quarter roll, which was fine, but running out in the night might pose a problem for some. Also, a hand sanitizer station in the pet relief area would be great! We will definitely be back! Awesome concept:)

Communication with the hotel was excellent. My husband loved the use of keyless entry into the hotel and our room. When we got in - earlier than we expected - our room was ready and the package I had delivered to the hotel already in our room. The space is gorgeous - a true home away from home. Everyone was comfortable, especially our 15-month-old miniature schnauzer. I wish all hotels were this lovely, and this accommodating for 4-legged family members.

Perfect! Great location. Clean, bright rooms with all the amenities. I wish I could have stayed longer. The manager, Ethan was so helpful with an early check-in for us. Our pup loved the stay as well. The dog area in the basement was so nice during the cold and snow weekend we stayed. Definitely will be back!

Located only 13 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids and 11 miles from Gerald R Ford International Airport, this hotel offers easy access to various restaurants and breweries. Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the city with its unique festivals and museums. Guests have praised the excellent service, complimentary breakfast, spacious rooms equipped with a large fridge, and free parking.
When we arrived, our welcome by Sara at the front desk was genuinely friendly. The rooms were new and very functional. The beds were very comfortable. The workout room was spacious and well appointed with both equipment and weights. The breakfast area was clean and warm food very good. Make-it-yourself breakfast sandwiches were great and met many dietary needs. Ceramic plates were a great touch. Jeannie (I believe) who managed breakfast was helpful. I would be happy to stay here again.

Paige A — Google review
Our recent stay at the Hilton Home2 Suites Northeast in Grand Rapids was overshadowed by an extremely troubling experience with one of the front desk employees, Sarah. When me and my party of 10 other hotel guest simply asked for local bar recommendations, she abruptly told us we could not be in the lobby. Moments later, she accused us of drinking (none of us had beverages) and went so far as to claim we were intoxicated, telling us to leave. This baseless accusation was humiliating and completely unprofessional. Later that night, we returned to find a large family with children openly drinking and letting kids run around in the lobby. Instead of being reprimanded, they were treated warmly by the very same employee. The only difference between our group and theirs appeared to be race, making the double standard painfully obvious. When we raised our concerns, the manager on duty, Remmington, admitted that he has been dealing with Sarah’s racist behavior for some time. The fact that this has been ongoing, yet she continues to represent Hilton, reflects that Hilton tolerates this type of conduct and allows paying guests to be mistreated in such a way. We have always chosen Hilton because of its reputation for professionalism and hospitality, but this experience has caused us to seriously reconsider any future stays. Allowing an employee like Sarah to repeatedly mistreat guests and show clear racial bias damages the trust and credibility of the Hilton brand. Racism and double standards have no place here, and until this issue is corrected, we will be taking our business elsewhere.

Home2 Suites is one of the best hotel chains that I have stayed at in many locations around the world This location in Grand Rapids is by far the best! It was run extraordinarily well. The rooms were immaculate and supplied with anything one would need. The dining room/breakfast was so well tended, and well stocked that every time I turned around everything was refilled and sparkling clean and the staff was friendly. Before our arrival, I made a lot of requests and last minute changes, yet the staff accommodated all of our needs-especially Sarah. Upon our arrival, all of the front desk, staff was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. One of our travel party got sick during our stay and the staff bent over backwards doing everything to help us without our even asking. They kindness, efficiency, and professionalism were equal to a five star hotel. I honestly say that from now on wherever I travel, Home2Suites will be the first hotel chain that I will look for. (The location was fantastic with lots of restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance)

My husband and I stay at this hotel about every three months when we come to Grand Rapids for events and shows. The rooms and the hotel are always clean and nice. The staff are always professional and friendly. The location is perfect, and there's always plenty to do in the area. The only thing that would make this all better is if there was a hot tub with the pool.
Tabby S — Google review
No 3pm check in as advertised. Nothing else on website otherwise. While i was complaining about no digital key so i wouldn't have to carry another item the desk clerk told me to calm down which i can only say was designed to incite. No reason for it up to that point. Only thing i had asked was "how did they get so bad". Then she told me they would have to give me a hard key and i said that wasn't good enough and i wanted a digital key and she told me it could take 5 minutes of so for it to work. At that point i was very mad a told her to hurry up and get it done. I had waited long enough to get into the room. At this point it was after 7pm and since i could not check in at 3pm missed when i could unload my stuff and relax for half an hour so before going back to work. This hotel is not convenient and you should plan on asking for your money back. This hotel says the rooms are not guaranteed until 6pm after everything on website says 3pm. No digital key that worked last stay. Went to management and was told if i didn't like it i could leave so i left. Have stayed 60 times or so this year and only got worse. Garbage disposals are not being cleaned. Water does not drain as expected until running the disposal meaning it wasn't cleaned. Towels on back of toilets are not being changed out. Think about that. My wife actually complained on one of the trips about the floor smelling like cigarette smoke and the towels over the toilets not being changed between guest. If you have been doing this then do a better job. But if you haven't been doing these things. "GOOD LUCK GETTING THAT DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER" Hilton should be sending in secret shoppers to check this place out. More Date of stay: August 2025

We had an overnight stay at the Grand Rapids location. Our rooms were very nice and the woman who checked us in was very friendly and informative. When we checked out however the service wasn’t so nice. The front desk clerk, Remington was very short with us and couldn’t be bothered to offer a smile. Not a great ending to an otherwise very nice stay.

I wish I could give a good review. The general design of the room is nice. The room is spacious. The bed is comfortable. It is very nice to have real glasses, plates, and cutlery. The breakfast buffet was great. But there was one issue that destroyed our stay. The bathroom light is on an automatic sensor which I could not find a way to disable. If I make a trip to the bathroom at 2AM, I need just a dim night light. Instead, the room is suddenly filled with VERY BRIGHT LIGHTS, which hurt my eyes and fully awaken me. They also wake my partner unless I can get the door closed before the sensor trips, which is nearly impossible. In fact, if I inadvertently leave the bathroom door open, just rolling over in bed causes the whole room to light up from the very bright bathroom lights. On the other hand, the bathroom goes completely dark in the middle of showering, because apparently the glass shower doors prevent motion in the shower from tripping the sensor. This is a very poor design, and it ruined our sleep.

Extended stay hotel
Hotel
WoodSpring Suites Grand Rapids Kentwood is a no-frills yet comfortable lodging option, perfect for longer stays and pet-friendly. Each room features a kitchen, and while there's no free breakfast, the hotel's location near dining and grocery options makes up for it. The property also offers a small gym and laundry facility. Guests praise the spacious rooms with full amenities, friendly staff, cleanliness, security, and overall convenience.
For the price, this hotel room was immaculate. Everything looks very modern and new, and the room was spotless. Not even any crappy work on the plumbing or trim. Very pleased with our stay, and especially the price. Great!!

Honestly, the hotel is so terrible. The person at the front desk was nice at check in. Unfortunately, that's where it stops. The hotel is labeled with a "Full kitchen" However, you have to PAY for everything. No pots and pans without paying for a "pots and pans package". No coffee maker in room, you have to pay for it. No iron/ iron board in the room, you have to pay for it! If you need more/new towels and call after 8pm. You're charged a $10 fee! AND YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE EXTRA TOWELS. If you need your room cleaned, extra fee. It's absolutely ridiculous and not worth the stay. I would recommend finding better and honestly, it will be so easy to do!

Never ever stay here if you are alone and female. My fiancé and I stayed here for the cheap price to stay while we waited for our apartment to be ready because we had just moved to Grand Rapids. It was so smelly(like boiled cabbage), someone was walking through smoking when we entered, and everything about this place was unsettling. You could tell it was long term stay. We felt so unsafe that we didn’t sleep at all. There was yelling and banging in the hallways through the night. Do not stay here. The next night there were multiple cops outside the front of the hotel for a domestic abuse call. A woman was scared to be there and left with the cop. We checked out the next morning, asked for a refund and the woman who helped us didn’t even question us checking out 5 days early.

Booked this hotel for a couple friends and I for a couple days as a cheaper option to a couple of the others in the area, and it was exactly that. Felt like it was ran by the TLC show Extreme Cheapskates. Everything cost an extra fee, from extra toiletries to calling the front desk after hours. Not to mention I booked the stay for four people and found out only two devices in the room can be on the WiFi at one time. The rooms were clean, sure, but they were far from comfortable. The walls were thin, we could hear everything happening in the rooms beside us. There was a constant smell of cleaning product in the hallway, to the degree where it made my nose burn. Not to mention even being in the parking lot felt unsafe. Always men hanging around outside, staring at you when you come in. Liana who checked us in was excellent, and definitely set a standard that the rest of the hotel did not seem to follow. I’m so upset to be this disappointed after the standard set by Liana.

Hotel charged us more than hotels.com quoted. Tv didnt work til day 2 and remote never worked. VERY noisy, i guess a pack of elephants lived upstairs and a crying dog left alone next door. The beds were crazy, i'd say a combo of a futon and a bale of hay. The one good thing was it was very clean. Never going back.

Stayed here for a night while passing through Grand Rapids last summer (July 2024) and did not like it - and now reading more recent reviews, it seems to have gone even further downhill. We originally picked it because it was affordable, looked clean & new, and was close to some amenities. Girl at the front desk seemed bored and/or annoyed - no smile, no "hello, how are you?", no eye contact even. I could set that aside, however, if the rooms had been nicer. Unfortunately, the walls are paper thin, so it is impossible to get a good night's sleep. You can hear EVERYTHING and everyone can hear you. The gentleman in the room next to ours was on a FaceTime call with his wife & kids back home and I could hear every word of their conversation, including when his wife read their Netflix password out to him! Heck, I could even hear when someone down the hall flushed their toilet. DO NOT stay here; you will regret it.

The hotel itself is very nice.. The lady at the front desk friday night was awesome. Now when it comes to saturday this is why i give 3 stars instead of 5.. The lady Bonita that was working the front desk was very unproffessional rolled her eyes quite a bit and was quite rude because i asked for more towels seiin i only had to.. Ladies if u have long hair yk that i myself need 2 that left none for my husband.. Anyways when i asked for the towels she turns to computer and starts typing without saying anything yet then turns to me after seeing whatever it was she was looking at on the cumputer and tells me to put my dirty towles in the white basket bring them to her and ahe will give me new one in a tone in which someone would talk to a toddler idk what pissed her off nor do i care but she jad no right to talk to me in the way she did so ya 3 stars due to 1 bad employee who is very rude..

The hotel is nice and in a quiet area, but The manager is a1star. The manager picks and chooses whom to help and whom to harass don’t have an issue or he will treat you funny and end your stay. I don’t recommend for anyone with children or pets. This location will make up things about you and put you in a bind with no place to stay!

Bed & breakfast
Hotel
The Lafayette House is a charming bed and breakfast located in the historic Heritage Hill neighborhood of Grand Rapids. This elegant B&B offers three uniquely decorated rooms, each with its own private bathroom and heated floors. The rooms feature local artwork, creating a cozy and memorable atmosphere for guests. Situated within walking distance of downtown, the Wealthy St District, and the Bridge St District, this B&B provides a convenient location for exploring the area.
I used to live in the Heritage Hill neighborhood for a couple of years and I really wanted to show my girlfriend what it was like to live there and how nice the area was. This was my first stay at a Bed & Breakfast and it greatly exceeded my expectations. Firstly, the location is great; close to the highway, in a nice neighborhood, and within walking distance of downtown, the Wealthy St District, and the Bridge St District if you don't mind strolling through neighborhoods for 20 minutes or so. The living space, dining room, and sunroom are decorated in a very modern yet homely manner. The breakfast was amazing--Skyelar made delicious perfectly cooked over-medium eggs inside bell pepper slices with some of the most delicious bacon I've ever had and sesame seed toast for our first breakfast and she made the crispiest yet fluffiest waffle with sausage links for breakfast number two. I was planning on enjoying some of my favorite local spots for breakfast but hers was just too delicious to pass up. We stayed in Room 2 which was very nice. It had a window air-conditioning unit with thermostat which is very common of Heritage/Cherry Hill Homes, the bed was king size and very comfortable, and the bathroom was stunning. The room was very large and had more than enough room for all of our belongings. The only caveat for this stay was that parking was tight and limited. There is only enough room for 1 car per room and it is diagonally next to their house in a pretty tight area so you better be confident at backing your care out onto Lafayette St. However, there is free street parking outside the house albeit with limited hours and availability. All in all I would highly recommend this B&B for anybody looking for a stay in Grand Rapids. Skyelar was a great host and when I visit Grand Rapids in the future this will be one of the first accommodations I check availability for. Cheers!

Beautiful house. However, the room was hot, very hot. No ac and windows don't open. No fan, so bring your own. TV had two remotes... both of them had dead batteries. Also, they no longer serve breakfast. Didn't mention that until after we booked it. Find somewhere else to stay

Great B&B! Host and hostess were both very friendly and courteous. Was in a multi room group so got to see all the rooms and they were all great in their own special and unique way. The breakfasts were very yummy with plenty of non crowded seating. Great historic house, well decorated. Definitely recommend to others and will stay there next time we travel to the area. Thank you for a great stay Todd and Skyler!!

The owners/hosts are so lovely and welcoming. Check in is easy. The home is historic and beautiful. We loved our spacious room, and the beautiful bathtub in it. A/C worked well and we enjoyed having the TV as an option. All the extra details--from cold bottled water, to soy yogurt at breakfast or a coffee keurig in the room--made this an excellent stay. And the breakfast was delicious!!!
Rosie A — Google review
The house was beautiful and the owners keep it looking very nice and clean. Skyelar was such an amazing hostess and made us feel very welcome. The location was perfect in downtown Grand Rapids. I highly recommend this B & B to anyone staying in the area.

Beautiful home, room #1 is huge. Comfortable bed, nice shower and deep tub. The host was very nice and the home was very clean. Had breakfast one day and it was good. Would definitely stay here again. Close to the downtown area which can be an easy walk weather permitting. If not a very short uber to all the restaurants and breweries in town.

Lovely accommodations and hosts. Friendly, welcoming, safe, comfortable and simply delightful. I’m moving to Grand Rapids (I was there for an interview and they were so encouraging that I nailed the interview!) and will recommend/use Lafayette House for all my guests. Great shower and lovely rooms. Delicious breakfast and terrific neighborhood.

Matt guided us through every step of the home-buying process with patience and expertise, making us feel confident and supported with every single step. He went above and beyond, helping us secure our dream home in a neighborhood we thought was out of reach. His knowledge, dedication, and genuine care made all the difference. If you're looking for a real estate agent who truly delivers, I promise Matt is the one!

When you work with Matt Goldman, you will feel confident you're working with one of the best realtors out there. Working with Matt was truly a privilege, and exceeded our expectations! We were first-time home buyers who entered the market during an extremely competitive time. It took us a few months, but we couldn't have had a more fantastic realtor advocating on our behalf! He quickly learns what his clients want and doesn't let them settle for less. He led us with confidence and wisdom during our challenging experience, and also kept it fun. Matt's expertise, authenticity, hospitality, integrity, and attention to detail are just a few qualities that set him apart as a realtor. He worked tirelessly and creatively for us, was always available, and communicated promptly. Matt cares deeply about those he serves; he treated us like we were his only clients. We felt confident making decisions because of his encouragement and advice. We are grateful Matt made our first experience buying a home educational, exciting, and empowering despite the extreme competition we faced. We give our utmost recommendation for working with Matt! If you're looking for an incredible team, look no further than Grand Rapids House and Home.

My wife and I recently moved into our new home in GR - a perfect fit in one of our ideal neighborhoods, all the way from Washington, DC - and in no small part due to the work from Matt from GR House and Home . He is caring, competent, and trustworthy. Being a buyer from afar we needed to be able to put our utmost confidence in our agent — with Matt we had no trouble doing so. He showed time and time again he is an expert in the work he does and takes immense pride in it. I give my highest recommendation of hiring Matt as your agent — I have zero regrets in doing so!
Lucas V — Google review
I would like to share my experience buying a home in Grand Rapids using Matt Goldman as my realtor. We were moving from California to Grand Rapids and while visiting Grand Rapids Matt gave us an extensive tour of the GR neighborhoods and explained and showed us the advantages of each of these. He has an extensive knowledge of the area and the real estate market. Matt was there for us each step of the way. When finding a potential home, he gave us a video tour explaining the pros and cons of each home. He was extremely responsive, answering all questions and concerns, going above and beyond to make this process as easy as possible. We ended up purchasing a home unseen based on Matt’s video tour and guidance and are absolutely thrilled. I could not imagine a better and more attentive realtor who really has your best interest in mind. I highly recommend Matt. He is truly an extremely attentive and helpful realtor with the knowledge and experience to guide and help you through the purchase of a home.

Matt was a wonderful, buyers agent for a first time homebuyer. He spent an hour with us at the beginning to set expectations and to provide some guidance and training. He helped us navigate many aspects of the process. He was very prompt and thorough in answering our many questions, helping us put together a successful offer and walking us through the closing process. He was always kind and professional and we would recommend him as a buyers agent!
Christine H — Google review
Matt is amazing and went above and beyond to help us get our dream starter home. He knows what he's doing, and he's very good at it. I'd absolutely work with him in the future, whether it's selling our home down the line or looking for our next one. Thanks Matt!
Nathan B — Google review
Matt was a phenomenal agent and I literally wouldn’t have gotten my home without him. My needs were specific and challenging with a significant time restraint, but he tapped into his network and found an off market property for me that was simply perfect. He was wonderful to work with every step of the way. Matt is dedicated, professional and personable as well - I highly recommend! Thanks, Matt!
Dharma 4 — Google review
Matt was the perfect blend of knowledge of the region/market and understanding/interpretation of my needs as a home buyer in a new geographic location. He was timely, responsive, supportive, and clear about the data he was sharing (about neighborhoods, market behavior, buying strategy and negotiations) and how it related to my stated preferences and goals. Matt was the perfect professional blend of deep listener, observer of my reactions while viewing home, and excellent inquirer about my assessment of homes we viewed together. Matt found a great home for me, under budget, with all of my required "checklist" items. The offer, inspection and negotiation process was timely and effective, with Matt shepherding me through the experience with caring attention, and all the information I needed. We closed, ON TIME, with excellent title representation. Honestly, I could not have imagined a more supportive, informed, and committed experience from a realtor, than what I recently enjoyed with Matt Goldman. I recommend him HIGHLY for your buying/selling needs in the Grand Rapids region!
