No real vintage and a bunch of fakes. I took my daughter here and she found a basket of old toys at and went through them to find the one she wanted. The manager came and frantically snatched all of the toys up and one right out of my four-year-old’s hands without explanation. Unfortunately, the drink was too sweet, and most of the tacos did not live up to my expectations. I loved the chorizo one, and the soy pastor was good as well—my partner especially liked it. The chimichurri was dripping oil(not olive oil) so the taste(which was good) didn’t really matter in my annoyed state. The Baja and chunky queso tacos were okay—we didn’t enjoy them much. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place too highly. The restaurant is simple, and the service is quick. I wish I had tried the matcha horchata, but anyway… I’m sure it wouldn’t have been worth $7. The Starbucks matcha drink is really good, and the sweetness can be moderated, not here. My partner felt it was a 4-star experience. I felt it wasn’t really worth the ~$40 we spent.

And Penelope’s vegan taqueria, by focusing on Mexican cuisine and specifically taco does deliver in flavors. The tacos, enchilada and burritos are great. I wish they had black beans as option. They only have pinto beans. The cauliflower tacos were great. The vegan cheese in enchilada was so so. They charge for everything including salad. I loved that the whole place was vegan and they had a ton of gluten free options also. The menu is well labeled, which was extremely helpful. 2 of us got the taco dinner deal since it was Tuesday and they do a $5 off deal on that dinner. It comes with 3 tacos of your choice, rice and beans. All of us loved our meals, and the margarita I got delicious!! I was really excited to try their ice cream sundae for dessert, but it appears that they don't usually actually have the ice cream at this location. Apparently it's made at a different location, so they usually only have the cake, which isn't gluten free. I was really disappointed that there wasn't a dessert for me to try, especially since I'm the one who's vegan in the group. One of my daughter's who can eat gluten did try the cake special and really liked it though. In my opinion, in order to get 5 stars, they either need to have all of the dessert options regularly, which includes a gluten free option, or just make the cake with gluten free flour and call it a day. Other than that issue, it was a great find here in Chicago!

After searching high and low for a decently priced couch, both online and in multiple stores, I finally came across the Brown Elephant. All of their items are donated, so yes they are slightly used but all of the things they sell there are in such good condition that you can't even tell. Also, because they are donated it allows them to give a much lower price than other places. I bought the couch/futon in the picture for 95 Dollars. Other couches which were a lot more solid/traditional couches were around 100-150, which for how nice they were are prices than simply cannot be beat. Even the Salvation Army's couches were much more expensive and were also uglier and not in as good condition. The only downside was they do not deliver the furniture-- however the clerk was extremely helpful and wrote down 4 different services for me to try which were all pretty affordable/average amount for transporting a couch. As for the rest of the store, I thought it was kind of hilarious that they had an actual DJ playing tracks there....At 1pm on Saturday. But I enjoyed it. Their book and vinyls section was nice and I enjoyed looking through the clothes which had some very trendy options but I didnt spend as much time in those sections as the furniture part. I do plan on going back as I buy more smaller items for my new apartment. Side note-- on the receipt you sign there is a spot to 'tip'...I asked the clerk if this was usual here because I have not seen tipping on non-food store receipts before-- he informed me the tips go straight to the Howard Brown Medical center, which by the way, is what the profits of this shop go to...So yes you can shop for furniture with prices so low that I almost felt like a bandit making off with my new couch, but also you get to feel good for supporting a local health center by buying there....OH and last thing! Do you have some furniture you can donate? Well if you go to their website you can see they will actually pick it up for you...And they even provide you with a form you can fill out which you can keep to write off in your taxes! Anyways long story short this place is cool and I would definitely recommend coming here, especially if you are in need of some nice, quality new furniture for ridiculously low prices.
