Beach Restaurant - Paradise Island is a stunning beach in Pondicherry, also known as Plage Paradiso. It offers crystal-clear waters, pristine sands, and a tranquil atmosphere for sea lovers. The beach provides sunbathing options and the chance to relax under palm trees away from crowds. Pondicherry boasts several beaches, each offering a unique experience, from the vibrant Promenade Beach to the serene shores of Paradise Beach accessible only by boat.
Nice but costly
Priyanka K — Google review
Worst food experience ever. Felt like a scam. Non veg meals cost ₹ 250 and what they serve is just rice and a fish curry with small piece of fish. Not worth for the money. No side dishes. No proper display of menu with their costs.
Meenakshi — Google review
Good stuff - ferry ride(~20mins) to get to this place - beach - you can good photos Worst - Food was pathetic and 3x the original price - So called activities involve horse riding and scooter ride which costs 354/person
Santhosh B — Google review
Worst service and worst food quality for that price ! Government have to solve this kind of issues.
Kushal M — Google review
Worst experience we were all girls and there were many men who were drunk and standing in que with us. Owner should have maintained different que for men and women. had ordered fried rice they put so much black pepper powder. Also it took around 20 mins for our order to be prepared. Order management was also bad.manager was giving priority to drunk people. Worst restaurant

Beach
Serenity Beach in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu is considered one of India's best virgin beaches. Its golden sands and the soothing sound of waves make it a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. The beach offers a serene and isolated environment, making it a must-visit spot in Pondicherry. One of its highlights is the stone bridge that extends into the sea, providing picturesque views for photography enthusiasts. The colorful boats on the shore add to the charm of this beautiful beach.
Serenity Beach is located near Kottakuppam, which is more of a fishing village than a typical tourist attraction on the outskirts of Puducherry. A narrow road connects the beach to the ECR. The development of this as a tourist attraction has considerable potential for improvement. Although the beach has beautiful views, it needs to be cleaned. Walking on the beach is challenging. Plenty of scope for improvement if this is to be developed as a tourist attraction. Beautiful! Peaceful! Serene! After our visit to Auroville, we traveled for about 8 KM and reached Paradise Beach. Not that crowded. It's relatively clean. Had rock hills to climb up & sit. Loved it!

Serenity Beach in Pondicherry is a tranquil getaway with a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. The beach is known for its picturesque views, with large rocks on both sides and a shallow slope, making it ideal for swimming and sunbathing ¹. *Tips and Insights:* - Visit the beach during weekdays for a more peaceful experience ³. - Be cautious while swimming, as the waters can be deep and rough ³. - Try the local seafood restaurants nearby for a delicious meal
Sanskar R — Google review
One of the best beaches in Pondicherry. Ample of parking space available and a lot of food stalls. There are also provisions for changing. Rock cliffs are there which look beautiful. We also found a lot of shells and clams on the beach. Highly recommended. Must visit while you’re in Pondicherry.
Urvashi R — Google review
TN and Pondy people, please stop unnecessary honking and follow basic traffic manners, 📣📣🤯🤯🥵🥵 Poorly Maintained & Unhygienic Beach This beach was very disappointing during our visit. It was full of waste and felt extremely dirty. Maybe it was because of Ganesh Chaturthi, but apart from that, there were also dead fish, prawn shells, plastics, and other garbage scattered around. The stinky smell from dead fish and the many fishing boats parked nearby made the experience unpleasant. Parking is available, but overall the beach is poorly maintained and unhygienic. Not recommended unless it is cleaned up properly.
Alexjoyluke — Google review
Beach has a nice view and a lot of surfing schools near it along with some places to eat. Must visit when in pondicherry.

"Visited Serenity Beach in Pondicherry—a peaceful haven where the waves kiss the shore and time slows down. The gentle sea breeze, golden sands, and soothing sounds of the ocean made it a truly calming and refreshing experience. A perfect spot to relax and feel close to nature."
ARAVIND D — Google review
Serenity Beach ⛱️ is a beach where you can get the feel of some foreign beach, because of its popularity amongst foreigners, who come here to participate in surfing 🌊, rowing and other water-sports. Here you will find many surfing training institutes, offering various short and long-term courses. Speaking about this beach, I found it to be very clean, rocky and wide. There are two rocky piers on both sides of this beach, where you can walk and reach the last point. Sitting on the last point of the pier and observing the strong waves crashing down on the rocks, paired with strong winds, will transport you to a different world altogether. Here, you can become one with the ocean, one with your soul. Must visit, while touring Pondicherry.⛱️🌊

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Perfect Blend of Peace, Nature, and Adventure – Serenity Beach, Pondicherry Serenity Beach is one of the most beautiful and tranquil spots I’ve visited in Pondicherry. As the name suggests, the moment you arrive, you are greeted by a sense of calm and serenity that makes it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The beach stretches wide with soft golden sand and gentle waves that make it ideal for relaxing walks along the shore. Unlike other crowded beaches, Serenity Beach has a peaceful vibe and is much less commercialized, which helps in truly soaking in the natural beauty. The sea breeze, sound of waves, and the quiet surroundings create a perfect atmosphere to unwind. What makes this beach stand out is its perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. For those interested in surfing, there are several small surf schools and rental shops that offer boards and lessons at affordable prices. We noticed quite a few people learning to surf, and it looked like a lot of fun. Even if you don’t surf, just sitting by the shore and watching the surfers ride the waves adds a unique charm to the experience. There are small, cozy beachside cafes and shacks that serve delicious seafood, snacks, and refreshing drinks — perfect for spending a long afternoon without having to worry about food. The local people running these stalls are friendly and make the experience even better. Sunrise and sunset views are absolutely spectacular here. Early morning offers a calm, almost magical atmosphere, while evenings are vibrant with golden hues painting the sky. It’s a perfect spot for photography lovers. Parking is available nearby, and the beach is quite accessible by car or bike. It’s well-maintained, and the local authorities ensure cleanliness, so the place is always tidy and inviting. Overall, Serenity Beach is ideal for friends, couples, or solo travelers who want to experience nature in its purest form. Whether it’s enjoying a quiet walk, trying your hand at surfing, clicking picturesque shots, or simply relaxing with a book, this place has something for everyone. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Pondicherry – an absolute must-see! 🌊🏄‍♂️📸🙏🏻

Promenade Beach is a popular rocky shoreline in an urban area, featuring a promenade, war memorial, and nearby park. It spans 1,500 meters and is a major attraction for both locals and tourists. The beach is located near several notable landmarks including the Mahatma Gandhi statue, Monsieur Dupleix statue, New pier, War memorials, and the Puducherry port.
A perfect blend of beauty and peace. The Pondicherry beach is one of the most scenic spots in the city. Stretching along the Bay of Bengal, the walkway offers stunning views of the sea, especially during sunrise. I have been there many a times for the sunrise. The cool breeze, rhythmic sound of the waves, and clean surroundings make it the perfect place for quiet reflection. Whether you’re out for sightseeing, enjoying coffee by the sea, or simply sitting on the rocks soaking in the view, the beach has a charm that instantly puts you at ease. With landmarks like the Gandhi statue and French War Memorial nearby, it also offers a glimpse into Pondicherry’s rich heritage. P.S - first and last photo were taken some 8 years ago.

Promenade Beach, also known as Rock Beach, is one of the most famous attractions in Pondicherry, stretching for about 1.2 kilometers along the Bay of Bengal. It is a lively coastal spot where tourists and locals gather to enjoy the cool sea breeze, morning walks, and evening strolls. The beach is lined with several historic landmarks such as the French War Memorial, Mahatma Gandhi statue, and the Old Lighthouse, reflecting the town’s French colonial heritage. Vehicles are restricted in the promenade stretch during certain hours, making it peaceful and ideal for relaxation. Unlike sandy beaches, Promenade Beach is mostly rocky, offering a unique scenic charm with waves splashing against the stones. It is not suitable for swimming, but it’s a perfect place for photography, leisure, and experiencing the vibrant culture of Pondicherry. The beach is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset, attracting visitors for its serene and picturesque views.

Beautiful land scape and we'll.maintained..beach is clean and adjacent to French town and Aurobindo ashram..good to try out something bakers street food outlet
Srinibas P — Google review
Today visited this beach in the afternoon. We walked from Mothers ashram till Bakers street shop. Dark blue color waters welcomed me. With monsoon to set soon the beach looked calm and composed. Boats were doing trials on this beach. With rocks on both sides, enough space to walk, get down and touch the sea waters this beach is mesmerising. Afternoon with not much harsh sweaty sun, the whole beach looked glittering amidst blue sky and dark clouds. This is my first afternoon time visit to the beach. The promenade is indeed beautiful with coconut trees swaying in breeze. Lighthouse, crafty bazaar, Pondicherry museum, art museum and park are places around to visit. There is a lactation room spot in this beach. Travellers don’t miss visiting this beach when you travel to Pondicherry.

One of the most iconic spots in Pondicherry! Promenade Beach is perfect for a peaceful walk along the coast, especially during early mornings or evenings. The clean, well-paved walkway is lined with charming cafés, French colonial buildings, and historic landmarks like the Gandhi statue and old lighthouse. While swimming isn’t allowed, the sea breeze and coastal views make it a relaxing and scenic place to unwind. A must-visit for anyone exploring the city!
Devassia M — Google review
Promenade Beach is pure serenity with a touch of French charm. The waves are strong and thrilling, perfect for adventure. A visit to Le Café by the beach completes the experience with great food and sea breeze vibes. Don’t miss the majestic Mahatma Gandhi statue, crafted in 1965, and the Aux Combattants des Indes Françaises memorial, honoring French Indian soldiers — a true tribute to valor and sacrifice.
Robin T — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Promenade Beach, Pondicherry is hands down the best nightlife beach I’ve experienced. The long stretch is beautifully lit and always buzzing with energy at night. The cool sea breeze, the sound of waves, and the vibrant crowd make it a perfect spot to unwind after a long day. Street performers, local food stalls, and the lively atmosphere give it a unique charm. Whether you’re taking a peaceful walk, enjoying snacks with friends, or just sitting by the shore, the vibe here is unmatched. It feels safe, lively, and truly captures the spirit of Pondicherry after dark. A must-visit if you want to enjoy the best nightlife by the sea! 🌊✨

Veerampattinam Beach, located 8 km from Pondicherry Bus Station, is a popular destination in the area. It's situated in the coastal village of Veerampattinam and is known for its extensive coastline, making it one of the longest beaches in Pondicherry. The beach features smooth golden sands, clear blue waters, and a tranquil atmosphere that appeals to nature lovers and those seeking relaxation by the sea.
One of the typical beach which resembles Marina beach in Chennai. You will find a lot of small shops for snacks. Many kids playing aspects like jumping pads, 2 to 3 rides are available. More importantly it's open for long hours. I had a wonderful time with my family.
Prince C — Google review
Many people defecate openly hear at the beach in morning time. I would recommend people to stay away and not play at the beach.
THOSIF S — Google review
This area is used mostly by the fishing boats. People defecate here in the open. Go to pier nearby where it is more clean and picturesque.

Serene and quiet beach, not more than 10-15 locals on beach, 0 tourists, clean blue and green water however sand on the beach has lot of litter ... Streches far... Nice for a quiet long walk.... u can hear Waves roaring, some butterflies and very few birds. Avoid going in water.. as not sure if it's safe!

VEERAMPATTINAM BEACH : Veerampattinam is the biggest coastal village in the Union Territory of Puducherry and is located between Pondicherry and Cuddalore. The village is 7kms from the city centre and frequent bus services are available from Pondicherry. The village has over 500 years of recorded history and is very close to Arikamedu archaeological site. It has rivers on both sides which helps fishermen protect their boats during cyclones as the majority of the swell in the sea is absorbed by the rivers. The surrounding village looks green always as it's enriched with water and nutrient resources. Veerampattinam is also home to one of the biggest festivals - The Temple car festival, where hoards of devotees pull massive wooden chariots using thick natural rope. A sight to behold indeed! The village has one of the longest beach and most beautiful beaches in the south of India. This attracts tourists from all over the world. A large number of people sun bathe and relax on the beach almost round the year. One can also watch the fishermen ply their trade and working with traditional fishing nets at dedicated sites. Long stretches of the beach are free of any kind of encumbrances thus making it an ideal destination for "beaching". Veerampattinam Beach: Each and every beach present in Pondicherry is amazing. Veeramapattinam beach is one of the best sightseeing places in Pondicherry. If you are planning a trip to Pondicherry then don’t forget to visit this outstanding beach. This is the lengthiest beach present in Pondicherry and is the best attraction of Pondicherry. Veermapattinam is the coastal village present in Pondicherry. The village is 7 kms away from the Pondicherry center but the buses are always available so there is no need to worry about it. The veeramipattinam hosts one of the biggest festival called temple car festival. The visitors of this beach are provided an option  to see the real fisherman working at some dedicated spots. The clean and long beach is the perfect pick to enjoy your vacation. The beach isn’t so crowded so if you are from one of those who loves to stay peaceful then this is the right place. Location: The beach is located along the village Veerampattinam which is located between Pondicherry and Cuddalore. Best Times To Visit: Beaches can be visited at any time so there are no boundaries to visit this wonderful beach. But vacationing in monsoon is advisable. Timings: The beach is opened at 8:00 am and is closed at 9:00 pm in the night. The distance between Pondicherry Bus stand and Veerampattinam Beach The Distance between Pondicherry Bus stand and Veerampattinam Beach is 9.6 km and it takes nearly 16-20 mins to travel.

It's a beautiful beach with a lot of free space to walk around and enjoy the waves without the crowd. It's got a lot of coconut trees on the way to the beach... A pier called 'The Sea Farer' is yet to be constructed fully... It looks good..
Cynthia A — Google review
This beach is mostly occupied by fishermen's. Less crowded as compared to others and water is also clean comparatively. No shacks and shades available at the beach. Changing room and shower facilities are also not available.

Located away from the main road ..Google maps give proper directions to reach there via the small internal Roads. it's good experience to see the local village life, it's a fishing harbour kinda beach so lots of boats and fishermen around, cuz of this there is lot of fish and other sea life thrown on the beach so it's a shabby not many tourist around, good for a long walk along the shore.

Rock Beach, also known as Pondicherry Beach, Promenade Beach, and Mahatma Gandhi Beach, is a unique coastal stretch in Pondicherry. It features a seawall and a palm tree-lined promenade that makes it popular for watching the sunrise. The 1.5 km long coastline starts at the War Memorial and ends at Dupleix Park on Goubert Avenue.
The Rock Beach in Pondicherry is an absolute gem! 🌊✨ It’s not your typical sandy beach — the rocky shoreline gives it a unique charm, and the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks is both powerful and soothing. The entire Promenade stretch is beautifully maintained, perfect for early morning walks or peaceful evening strolls. Watching the sunrise here is simply mesmerizing, with golden hues reflecting over the sea while the city slowly wakes up. The vibe is calm, refreshing, and full of positive energy. There are plenty of cute cafés, ice-cream stalls, and local vendors around, making it a lively yet relaxed spot. The area is clean, safe, and offers some of the best views of the Bay of Bengal. 🌅 Whether you’re a traveler, a photographer, or just someone looking to unwind by the sea, Rock Beach is a must-visit in Pondicherry — serene, scenic, and unforgettable!

Rock Beach is a very nice place to visit in Pondicherry. The view of the sea is beautiful, and the sound of the waves is very calming. It’s a great spot for morning or evening walks. The area is clean and has many small food stalls and cafes nearby. You can’t swim here because of the rocks, but you can sit, relax, and enjoy the sea breeze. It gets a bit crowded, especially on weekends, but still feels peaceful. A lovely place to spend some quiet time. I gave 4 stars because of the crowd.
Ananth — Google review
Nothing negative about this place except the accessibility. Many a times Cars are not allowed to nearby area so may be an issue for elderly people. Very nice place where one can spend hours gazing at sea (Bay of Bengal). it is a must visit place whenever you visit Puducherry. Have been here 4-5 times. Walk along the beach is romantic for couples. There are many small small cafés which serve you till late night. Sunrise at 6 o clock attracts a lot of people. Gandhi statue in the middle of 800m beach walk path is also attractive.

Complete 1.5km long rock beach covers the esplanade area except a stretch of about 100 meters of proper sand beach with great views on both sides. Good place to sit and relax, minus the shacks and drinks. And please don't smoke here, it's prohibited to smoke in public areas in whole of pondicherry. At dawn or dusk the beach provides good views and winds.

Beautiful place to relax and enjoy the sea breeze! 🌊 The view is excellent and very attractive, especially during sunrise and sunset. Peaceful atmosphere, clean walkway, and a perfect spot to unwind by the ocean.

A Scenic Escape with a Touch of French !! Puducherry Beach, or Rock Beach near French colony as the locals call it, is a refreshing break from the chaos of city life. Unlike many other Indian beaches, this one is surprisingly clean—probably because it’s more of a rocky coastline than a sandy stretch. Strolling along the promenade is a highlight, especially in the evening when the whole place comes alive with street performers, vendors, and families out for a walk.

Cafe
Coffee shop
Located in Pondicherry, Le Café is a waterfront café with a rich history. Originally built as a Port Office in 1790, it later transformed into a charming café after the destruction of the pier due to a cyclone in 1952. Situated on Rock Beach, this government-operated café operates 24/7 and offers stunning views of the Bay of Bengal.
I visited Le Cafe on a quiet Sunday late afternoon when it was mostly empty, offering a peaceful dining atmosphere. The cafe boasts a spectacular view of the sea, allowing diners to enjoy their meals with the serene backdrop of the ocean right up close. I ordered the chicken sandwich, priced around 300, and a refreshing lime soda for 75. Both items were delightful—flavorful and satisfying. The combination of good food and the tranquil seaside view made for an enjoyable experience. Le Cafe is a great spot for those seeking tasty food in a calm setting with stunning sea views.
Prabakaran G — Google review
Le Café in White Town, Puducherry, is a charming spot that feels like a paradise for anyone who loves to sip coffee by the sea. With the refreshing sea breeze, warm sunlight, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air, the ambiance is simply magical. Watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee here is an unforgettable experience. The food and beverages served are of excellent quality. From coffee, pasta, and pastries to delicious sandwiches, everything is prepared to delight the taste buds. The menu beautifully blends local flavors with international standards, making it unique. Adding to this, the friendly staff and their warm hospitality make the visit even more pleasant. What makes Le Café truly special is its natural setting and serene atmosphere. Sitting by the beach, listening to the sound of the waves while enjoying a cup of coffee, offers a rare sense of peace. For both travelers and locals, this café creates memories that are bound to last a lifetime. K.vinothkumar

Visited this cafe in the evening for some good coffee and snacks. The coffee was too good here which was filled pro the brim of the cup. The chicken sandwich too amazing with the sea view but sadly we visited after the sunset and hence could enjoy the sound of waves along the food. The Cold Coffee too was amazing. The apple cart tasted fine. This restaurant is open 24/7 serving food right beside the Gandhi Statue. You can always stroll through the beach. It’s self service here.

Le Café in Pondicherry offers a lovely location right by the beach, perfect for enjoying the sea breeze with a cup of coffee. The view is unbeatable, and it’s a great spot to relax. However, the service could be a bit more attentive, and the food was a little underwhelming for the price. It’s still a nice place to visit, especially for the vibe and the view, but could use some improvements in the overall experience.

The food is not good. Honestly, the burger tastes like a 50 rs burger. The fries are really bad. The cheesecake is not fresh; it already settled. Check out the image for reference. The mocaccino is not really a mocaccino. People come here to take photos from the roof. The food is really overpriced, and the kitchen hygiene is average. The burger had raw capsicum in it, like cold stuff.

Amazing ambience and unbeatable beachside location! Perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sea view. Food was good, portions decent, and prices quite affordable compared to other beachside cafes. Self-service setup, but overall a great place to chill with friends or family. Definitely worth a visit when in Pondicherry!

The star point for this place is that it is situated just near the beach which attracts the customers. The food is ok. The place works on self service. The place is hyped due to the location and has become an iconic place in Puducherry. Would recommend to visit there at least onceiti enjoy the view.

Wonderful Experience This establishment offers the pleasure of dining with a stunning view of the sea. The food was of excellent quality—flavorful and well-prepared—while the pricing remained very reasonable. A highly enjoyable and satisfying experience overall.

A must-visit place in Pondicherry! The Mahatma Gandhi Statue is one of the city's famous landmarks. It is about 13 feet tall and was built in 1965 to honor the Father of the Nation. The statue is surrounded by beautiful old stone pillars brought from a nearby town. It’s located near Rock Beach, and the area is clean, peaceful, and great for photos. In the evening, the lights make it even more beautiful. You can also enjoy street food and local shops nearby. A great place to relax and learn a bit of history.

Gelateria Montecatini Terme (GMT Ice Cream) is a popular spot in Pondicherry, known for its wide array of over 60 unique gelato flavors.
A must visit whilst in Pondicherry or after you finish your walk on the promenade. They have a variety of flavours, made of organic milk and frsh ingredients. The taste is simply divine!! We visited on a Sat evening and it was choc-a-block and most of the flavours were over. We tried the chocolate brownie and buono and both were out of this world ..am surely coming back again!!
Deepak S — Google review
Visited GMT Ice Creams on Promenade Beach and absolutely loved the experience! 🍨 The gelato here is rich, creamy, and full of authentic Italian flavor. I tried Mix Berries, Bacio, and Tiramisu all three were excellent, with just the right balance of sweetness and freshness. The quality is worth the price, and the portions are satisfying. The location right on Beach Road makes it even better perfect for enjoying a scoop while taking a walk by the sea. The staff was polite and service was quick. If you’re in Pondicherry and craving authentic gelato, GMT is definitely a must-visit!
Desireddy R — Google review
During our Pondicherry visit with family, we heard about this famous ice cream joint and wanted to try the taste of these gelatos. It's a small shop in the beach road and there was continuous crowd visiting here. We ordered 3 different flavours chocolate, cheese cake and strawberry. Chocolate was very good and other 2 were ok for me.
Siva S — Google review
GMT Ice Cream in Pondicherry was an average experience for me. I had heard a lot about this place, but honestly, it didn’t really have that wow factor. We tried around 5–6 flavours like Cheesecake, Tiramisu, Choco Crunch, Dubai Cream and a few more. Out of all, the only one I actually liked was Tiramisu—it had a nice flavour and stood out from the rest. The other flavours were just okay and nothing special. Considering the hype, I expected richer taste and better texture. It’s still a decent place to try once, but personally, I didn’t find it worth.
Radha J — Google review
GMT gelato has variety of flavors and the rich, natural taste. The chocolate and strawberry flavors are often highlighted as favorites, and some unique options like tiramisu and hazelnut Nutella. However the service is inconsistent and order accuracy, particularly with take-away orders is not good. The wide range of unique and natural gelato flavors are available. The gelato as rich, natural, and delicious, with flavors like strawberry containing real fruit. The must try flavours include classic chocolate, strawberry, hazelnut Nutella, and coffee caramel. The space is very small yet has a nice ambiance with unique decor.
Harshitha G — Google review
This place has one of the best ice creams in Pondicherry. Around 30 different ice cream flavours are offered. The menu may change basis availability. Try out some interesting and unique flavours here. Both cup and cone options are available. You may need to send in queue for 10-15 mins to get ice cream during peak hours over weekends.
Alok A — Google review
Visited GMT and tried a few gelato flavours — creamy and authentic, but since they don’t add sugar or extra flavouring, some options can taste a bit bitter. It’s a takeaway-only place with no seating, but perfect to grab a cup and enjoy by the beach. Great for those who prefer natural flavours! Priced moderately!
Harshanand H — Google review
👍 Pros: Unique and authentic Italian gelato flavors that will transport you to the Tuscan countryside High-quality ingredients and a focus on natural sweetness make for a healthier ice cream option 🌿 Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere invite you to linger and enjoy your treat 😊 ❗️ Cons: Limited seating area, so plan ahead or grab-and-go ⏰ Some flavors might be too intense for those who prefer milder tastes 👀 GMT is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Italian gelato in Puducherry! The unique flavors and high-quality ingredients make it stand out from the crowd, but be prepared to wait or grab-and-go if you're short on time.

Pondy Marina, located near the new lighthouse in Pondicherry, is a newly developed attraction under the theme-based beaches program by the local government. Situated 1.5km from White Town, this beach offers paved pathways, comfortable hotels, and ample seating areas for visitors to enjoy quality time with family. Away from the main city area, it tends to be less crowded and features various food stalls offering a variety of cuisines and games/rides for all ages.
Pondu Marina is the perfect spot to chill and enjoy cool sea breeze in the evening. It is also less crowded than Rock beach and has a lot of food stalls around. We had a good time here🥂

Undoubtedly the best beach in/around pondicherry. Good long beach at anytime of the day with great activities for kids. Numerous beach facing eatries near parking also pubs and a mini eiffel tower where you can have a meal.

We visited Pondy Marina from Serenity Beach — it took us about 20–25 minutes by bike. The place has a lovely open shoreline with a pier where you can walk and sit on the big rocks to enjoy the sea breeze and view. What I really loved was how well-organized the space is — instead of messy roadside stalls, they’ve set up a proper food court with lots of eateries, a kids’ park, and even a restaurant bar. It’s clean, lively, and thoughtfully designed. There’s also the popular “I ❤️ Pondy” statue that’s perfect for photos. You can easily spend 2–3 hours here just relaxing, eating, and soaking in the view. Do note — it’s not a swimmable beach, but great for a scenic evening outing or casual hangout.

Good and nice place. Its like 15 mins from station. Roads are good and it was a good experience. Beach is crowded during weekends but the stalls here are costly to bear for middle class. There is whole lot of food options available and kids play area. Night time is good, but day time it's hot. We tried lassi etc there and sat on the benches. There are many activities too. Be sure to try that out. There is no local vendors here and there. All are structured properly.

Pondicherry Marina Beach, located in Dubrayanpet, is one of the seven theme-based beaches in Puducherry. It's just 1.5 km from the main town and offers a clean environment with cafes and shops. The beach hosts cultural programs on festival days, adding to its vibrant atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as scuba diving, water sports, and dolphin spotting while also taking in the rejuvenating experience of relaxing on the pristine shores.
This beach is quite happening at the same time quite peaceful. The beach has sitting areas where you can sit in and spend the entire day soaking in the peaceful vibe. The new lighthouse is visible from here. On the other side of the road there is a whole complex of shops, restaurants, washrooms, ATMs etc which makes it ideal for a day outing.
Kuheli G — Google review
Great for families and food lovers, especially looking for evening fun with scenic views. Not ideal for serious swimming—stick to shallow wading if at all, due to strong currents. Explore local food alternatives nearby for better value and taste. Capture sunset moments and pay attention to the street art around the approach.
Aluri Y — Google review
This beach has a great sunrise view, which is definitely worth checking out. The sky looks beautiful during sunrise, and it's a nice spot to relax. However, it's often crowded, which can be a bit overwhelming. The cleanliness of the beach has been a bit of an issue lately. Compared to Promenade Beach, it's not as clean. When I first visited, it wasn't that dirty, but now I've noticed a lot of litter and trash around with plastics and beer bottles. It's not a huge problem, but it destroys the mood and would be great if the beach was better maintained. There is ample space on the beach, making it a good option for watching the sunrise and capturing some stunning pictures. Just be aware that it can get crowded, so arrive early or visit during less busy times. A little ahead, you can also take a boat ride or speed boat ride to explore the mangroves forest, fishing harbour, and other scenic sites. Be mindful of the timings to make the most of your visit. To make the best of your trip, consider visiting early in the morning. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful sunrise will make your experience more enjoyable. With some effort to maintain the beach's cleanliness, this spot could be even more breathtaking.
Sakshi P — Google review
We had gone to Marina Beach around 9 a.m. Surprisingly, it was still peaceful at that time. There were very few people around which made the whole experience feel more personal, could take photos without any rush no one walking into the frame, no noise to distract. Just the sea and the space to enjoy it. After clicking a few pictures, we found a spot to just sit and watch the waves. They kept coming in slow, steady and almost meditative. No pressure to move, no distractions. It felt like time slowed down for a bit. That morning had a quietness to it not in a lonely way but in a calm, grounding way. We didn’t need to do anything special. Just being there, watching the sea, feeling the breeze it was enough.
Floyd F — Google review
The beach is absolutely filthy. There was trash everywhere. Absolutely disgusted. Photos below, don't waste your time on this beach. Total waste of time and as usual had to pay extortionate rates to the auto wallahs to travel 1.5 kms to this beach and back. Not worth it and will spoil your mood. You are better off at the Rock beach and promenade instead.
A N — Google review
Pondy Marina Beach is one of the best beaches in Puducherry if you really want to swim and enjoy the water. The beach is clean, well-structured, and has a lively atmosphere, especially in the evenings. The good thing is that there is no entry fee, so anyone can freely enjoy. On the beach, you will also find some status/statues which are perfect spots for clicking photos and making memories. For adventure lovers, this beach has boat activities and also options for scuba diving. We did scuba diving here with one company, but you can find other operators as well, so you can choose according to your budget and comfort. In the evenings, the cool breeze and open views make it a perfect place to relax and spend time. Families, couples, and friends – everyone can enjoy here. Overall, Pondy Marina Beach gives both fun and relaxation, with swimming, water sports, photo spots, and no entry fee – definitely a must-visit when in Puducherry.

Pondicherry Marina Beach is a serene stretch of coastline that offers visitors a calm and relaxing escape from the city’s bustle. Located close to the heart of town, it’s less crowded than the popular Promenade Beach, making it ideal for quiet walks, picnics, or simply enjoying the sound of the waves. One of the most captivating sights here is the broken bridge that juts out into the sea. Though no longer functional, it stands as a rustic landmark, blending history with natural beauty. The weathered structure against the vast blue horizon creates a stunning view, especially during sunrise and sunset, when the golden light reflects off the water. While the beach itself is clean and the atmosphere peaceful, it’s best enjoyed for its scenery rather than swimming, as the currents can be strong. Photographers will find plenty of inspiration here, from the shoreline patterns to the bridge’s striking silhouette. Whether you’re a local resident seeking a quiet evening spot or a traveler exploring Pondicherry’s coastal charm, Marina Beach — with its unique broken bridge — offers a memorable experience that combines nature, history, and tranquility.

The beach has a rustic charm — ideal for a morning walk, quiet reflection, or just soaking up the sun. You’ll find local surfers adding a lively touch to the serene vibe, and a few cozy cafés nearby serving great coffee and snacks. Clean surroundings, friendly locals, and an overall relaxed atmosphere make it one of the must-visit beaches in Pondicherry. 🏖️✨ Best to visit early morning or around sunset for those stunning views and cool vibes. Visited Serenity Beach in the evening — the breeze and view were lovely, and it’s a nice place to sit on the rocks, relax, and watch the sea. However, it was quite crowded and not very clean. The beach has more of a local, fisherman vibe with lots of boats and activity. There’s a small area where you can play in the water, but overall it’s better for a quick visit than a long beach day.

Serenity Beach is the best place if you want to explore fishing. It’s more of a private beach, quiet and peaceful, without shops or commercial activity. Perfect spot for those looking for a calm fishing experience away from the crowds.

True to its name, Serenity Beach is all about calm vibes, salty breeze, and soulful silence. Located just a short ride from the main town, it offers a more peaceful, less crowded alternative to Rock or Paradise Beach — perfect for early risers and quiet souls. What to Expect: Golden sands and rocky patches create a stunning, raw coastal backdrop. A favorite among surfers, with small surf schools nearby. Beautiful sunrises and long walks along the shore. A few local cafés and stalls add charm without overwhelming the space. Good to Know: Best visited during early morning or golden hour for fewer crowds and softer light. Great for photography, reflection, and nature lovers. Final Thoughts: If you're looking for a spot to sit, breathe, and watch the waves without distraction — Serenity Beach is your kind of place. Simple, soulful, and true to its name. 🌊☀️

Selva's Sea View Restaurant is a charming spot located right across from the beach in Pondicherry. The restaurant offers stunning views of the sea, making it an ideal place to enjoy a meal or grab some fresh juice. The staff is known for their exceptional politeness and willingness to customize orders according to preferences. This vegetarian restaurant is perfect for enjoying breakfast, lunch, or snacks while taking in the beautiful seaside scenery along Promenade Beach Road.
For the common man I would rate this 5/5. They have good and tasty food, a little less in quantity but ordinarily priced. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and courteous staff. The service is fast. The ambience is also good.

Built with descent indoor and elegant outdoor sitting facility. Good hospitality. Had a wonderful experience. The food was good and non oily. I've added the menu card for price list (do check out). The menu offered a great variety, ensuring there was something for everyone. That tea was good. The staff truly made the visit memorable. They were humble, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel good from the moment we walked in. Their genuine hospitality added a special touch to the evening at Pondicherry. Bodhi Beach, also known as Serenity Beach, is a popular spot in Pondicherry for both relaxation and adventure. It offers opportunities for surfing with the Kallialay Surf School, where instructors ensure you can ride the waves confidently. The beach is ideal for watching breathtaking sunrises and observing local fishermen bringing in their catch. Visitors can enjoy seafood restaurants and street food vendors nearby. This sandy beach is considered safe for swimming and provides a serene environment away from the bustling city.
Bodhi beach is one of the best beaches in Pondicherry. It's not so far from city. So many local good people, some of the sea food restaurant, and few street food like corn will be available. Early morning and evening 4-5 pm is best time to visit. Closing time for beach is around 7 pm.

This is the best place in Pondicherry to watch the sunrise. It is also the fishermen’s spot so you’ll see many boats out in the sea and fishermen coming back to the shore to store their catch. Sometimes the smell can be unbearable but the sunrise scenes make it totally worth it. The ideal time to visit would be around 5:30-6 in the morning, from here you can go to Le Café to have your breakfast and then go on about your day.

Visited this place during Christmas, which is considered to be the peak time. The crowd was ok, can spend some good time around. This place has got some eateries and restaurant very adjacent to the beach. You can get freshly prepared sea food at a considerable pice. Booze too is avail but it’s restricted insided your hotel premises. No night activity at this place has very lil street lights. So prefer to be around 5am to 6 pm. Police patrol at nights are very common here.
Vivek V — Google review
The safest sandy beach in Pondi for swimming and spotting crabs, oysters. This is a small fisherman's beach about 6 km away from the main town so no crowds or touristy shops. Just sea, sand, sunsets, surfers and boats.

Good beach to visit at morning time before 8 AM. Little smelly because of fishing and dead fishes lying here and there.

Visited on 30th Sept 2018 #. Chief Secretariat, a pure white, contemporary multi-storied building, facing the sea. #. As a tourist, one can see from outside or need permission, to enter. #. There is oval-shaped, park-like greenery, with a beautiful Fountain. #. A Buddha Statue is another attraction. #. Goubert Hall is right side this building #. This building gets well decorated, during festivals, which is very attractive. #. The beach, opposite to this is beautiful. #. Evenings, the public throng this place. #. The vehicular traffic in Goubert avenue is banned from 6:00 PM to next day 7:30 AM #. Overall good, with around one hour, if you have (6 PM Plus) or a quick visit is 15 minutes.
TravellerG — Google review
This is located right in front of the beach. The building is pure white. Just a tip: you can park your car just behind this building rather than going all the way across to the other end of the beach for pay and park.

Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to access. I was interested in the studies the Indology department does and about some of theirs publication but the surveillance at the entrance told us it is a private place and suggested to look online. Not very welcoming

Nothing much to be said about this building/mansion...we came across this mansion while exploring the French town... It can be easily identified by the bright yellow color of the mansion...it is also heavily guarded by police...so that no unauthorized entries are made in...It also acts as French High Commission as well... It is prohibited to take pics...however one can take it from Beach road or Promenade side...

The lanterns once they start flying together it was a whole together a blissful moment. We had booked for a glow fest in pondi through the sort my scene page. The event was supposed to start at 5 but it started at 8. There was a huge gap in the organising of the event, and this ended up in an impatient crowd and the anchor never seemed to be welcoming people from other states as she only speaks in tamil language. Pondicherry being a tourist place, this shouldn't have happened. They have promised food stalls, face painting etc...but only one ice cream shop was there. Also reaching was a little tricky as there were no autos available nearby

Paradise Beach in Puducherry is a beloved destination for both locals and tourists. The beach boasts golden sands, blue waters, and palm trees, offering a tranquil escape from city life. Visitors can enjoy the simple seafood restaurant, restrooms, and rattan shaded areas. Boating to the beach takes 10-15 minutes but offers a chance to picnic on an island-like setting with various activities available until evening.
A great beach. You can come by a motor boat or drive on your own. But it's better to enjoy the boat ride. Once on the beach you can either stick to the beach or goto the private resort where you can have jet boat ride, speed boat ride, ATV ride, have couple of shacks serving beer and drinks. Don't miss the spot between the river and the sea, its just amazing.
Sumit G — Google review
Recently I visited Paradise Beach in Pondicherry. Honestly, the beach is very beautiful, but I found some things that visitors should know before going. First of all, this beach is managed by a private company called Sandunes. Because of that, they charge an entry fee of ₹89 for adults. Once you enter, you will see that they have made a restricted swimming zone. It is marked with green flags and ropes, and only till that area you are allowed to swim. This is good for safety, but it also feels a little controlled. About facilities – they have arranged drinking water, shower area, and restrooms for visitors. This makes it a bit comfortable, especially after playing in the water. They also provide water activities, but honestly, I felt they are very costly compared to other places. Along with that, there are food stalls, clubs, and some entertainment options inside. Overall, the beach is clean and well-maintained, but the commercial setup and extra costs may disappoint people who expect a free, natural beach experience. Still, if you don’t mind paying and want a safe, organized beach visit, then Paradise Beach is worth exploring.

Beautiful beach with clean sand, calm waves, and a great mix of water sports and relaxation. Entry is affordable, and basic facilities are available. Safe and well-managed beach with clear rope safety lines and proactive lifeguards. Really appreciate the efforts of the team to ensure the safety of all visitors – their presence adds peace of mind and makes the experience much more enjoyable. Great spot for a chill day in Pondicherry!
Devassia M — Google review
The place is excellent! The entrance fee is ₹89 per person, and the beach is very well maintained. It has fine white sand, plenty of seating areas, clean changing rooms, a restaurant, and water sports activities. The overall vibe is great — we really enjoyed our time here as a family, and the kids absolutely loved it. The only downside is that the approach road is not in good condition.
Shibu P — Google review
Clean Beach. Wonderful waves. You can spend plenty of time. There are neat shower and changing rooms available on charge. Not vegetarian options for eating, so bring your own munches. Enjoy coconut water. Beach is accessible by road as well. Else you can take a boat ride through the back waters. Carry your water bottle. Paid parking is available. Crowd is more on weekends and public holidays.
Dharmesh J — Google review
One of the best experiences ever! We rode all the way from Bangalore directly to Paradise Beach and it was absolutely worth it. The ride itself was smooth and scenic, and once we reached, the beach truly lived up to its name calm, clean, and simply beautiful.
