Located on the corner of Hamline and Grand Avenue, Colossal Cafe is a popular eatery known for its American fare. The menu features a variety of options including hot breakfasts, sandwiches, pastries, and the iconic flappers - massive fluffy pancakes doused in real maple syrup. This quaint neighborhood joint offers made-from-scratch breakfast options available all day long and as a to-go option.
If you’re looking for a place with great made-from-scratch breakfast food, this spot is a must-visit. They truly know how to do breakfast right. While the food might take a bit longer to arrive compared to a chain restaurant, the wait is definitely worth it. The flavors are exceptional, showcasing thoughtful and delicious flavor profiles in every dish. If you’re unsure of what to order, I highly recommend trying the Colossal Breakfast. Don’t forget to add a side of pork bison gravy—it’s the perfect complement to your meal. The portion sizes are generous without being overwhelming, and the prices are very reasonable, ranging from $10 to $15. Be prepared for a bit of a crowd, as this place can get busy, and parking might be a challenge. However, the quality of the food makes it all worthwhile. It’s definitely a breakfast destination worth checking out.

Nice start to the weekend morning - a stop at the Colossal Cafe. The Colossal Breakfast was great - over easy eggs, bacon, hash browns, and sourdough toast with homemade rhubarb jelly. Also the breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon and cheese. Enjoy and stop in!
Chris G — Google review
I’m giving this place three stars because the food was solid with no complaints other than it was lacking depth and definitely salt. I’ve noticed here in the Twin Cities. A lot of places have very high ratings, but don’t seem to be matching up with the flavor. While all the ingredients on the dish were right, there was just no flavor coming from them. A little salt will go a long way. Prices were slightly elevated, and the coffee was overpriced for what it was. I might be willing to try it again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.
Marco — Google review
Cute little cafe with indoor & outdoor seating. We stopped in at 10:30am on a Sunday and they were quite busy but seating was still available. Orders are made at the counter so it would be helpful to look over their menu before going in. Everything is made fresh from scratch! We had the Colossal breakfast, and some pastries. It was all wonderful. Parking is street only, but a nice location, so it wasn't real difficult to find.

1st and and we enjoyed it. I see why it’s called colossal! The portions are huge. Couldn’t even eat it all. The mimosa was really good. A bit pricey though.

Cute, bougie little spot in the great Como district. Okay food, wonderful sourdough bread, and average coffee. There's parking on the street, nice little outdoor searing area, and a bit of grass for your pup if needed. Friendly and attentive staff.
Jennifer A — Google review
LOVE LOVE LOVE This is hands down one of my favorite brunch spots in the city! I haven’t been disappointed after coming here 10+ times over the years. Their sourdough is amazing, and the portions always leave me full or with leftovers! Came this past weekend and got the breakfast sandwich, I always add some of their house hot save and get it on buttery sourdough. It is counter service but I love that they sell day olds and you can see the days pastries before you commit to your meal at the register. Seating can get busy on the weekends but it’s always worth it. Bathrooms are singles and very cute and clean! They provide the option of sparkling or still water on tap, which is so nice to have a choice between! I’d come here every weekend if it wasn’t far from me.
Jordyn T — Google review
Do not get the flapper sandwich, both me and my gf spit out our first bites cause the pancakes were so doughy and rubbery. Is it normal to leave the inside raw!?

The Buttered Tin, located in St. Paul, is a charming bakery and cafe offering a wide array of delectable sandwiches and pastries in a cozy setting. It's an ideal spot for brunch, featuring an assortment of mouthwatering options such as breakfast burritos, parfaits, and homemade baked goods like pecan coffee cake and irresistible cinnamon rolls. While it may be slightly pricey, the quality of the food, inviting atmosphere, and attentive service make it well worth the visit.
I've been coming to this place for more than 10 years. Huevos rancheros are mouth watering :) Take a Biscuit to go. Try the tacos and of course the French Toast. Try their jam and buy some for your home too if available. I always buy coffee it's so good to have it again at home. Self serve location but I like it! Parking is paid but available. We were on looking for something to eat on our way to Wisconsin from Minneapolis. We had trouble finding a spot to eat and then we found The Buttered Tin. The food was fantastic. Everyone in our group enjoyed the food, it was savory and fresh. We could tell they used high quality ingredients. They offer many different bakery items also. The service was great and the staff were very friendly. There is a reason why the restaurant has won so many different awards! If you are in the St. Paul area come check out The Buttered Tin.

I keep hearing about this restaurant and so I decided to go there. The prices are not cheap. The bread and the pastries look amazing. They came right out of the oven. I ordered a meal that sounded good in theory but it made no sense when it arrived. I couldn't differentiate what I was reading and it just kind of felt like a pile of slop.. I was with someone else that quite enjoyed the bacon and the potatoes, so I'm glad that someone enjoyed their meal, but I prefer to be able to identify what I'm eating and after two bites. This is what the food looked like. Just kind of a wet messy plate.

I was in desperate need of custom cakes for my kiddo's graduation party, and the Buttered Tin more than delivered. I sent them a photo of the napkins (which featured the theme and colors), told them about their guitar playing, chose the flavors (chocolate/salted caramel for one; strawberries and cream for the other), and trusted the rest to them. The results were better than I could have hoped for, and reasonably priced. I sent my sister-in-law to pick them up right before the party. The closest parking she could find was about two blocks away, so a staff member walked her to her car, carrying the other cake, and made sure they were safely settled before she drove away. Our guests absolutely loved the cakes, and we are enjoying what little we had left over. Thank you, Buttered Tin, for going above and beyond to make our kiddo's grad party so happy and memorable!

Awesome food!! I got the pig eye breakfast with a cheddar biscuit and it was amazing. Even the strawberry jam was great, it’s all made in house. The coffee was also tasty— black coffee. Overall I’d come back to this place. Oh, don’t forget to try the cinnamon roll it’s actually pretty good, not too sweet or dry and just the right amount of frosting.
Dan A — Google review
Enjoyed a beautiful fall afternoon brunch at an outside table. The outside street noise was tolerable! I had the Breakfast burger and salad and my guess enjoyed the same but with home fries. We also loved the ice coffee and ice tea selection.
KE J — Google review
one of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots in the whole TC Metro Area. always quick, top notch service, even though they are packed almost every weekend. all food options taste great; my personal recommendation is to go with either their Pig's Eye Breakfast or Italian Beef Hash. lots of good specials are offered as well (like the one on my photo), and although I rarely get any baked treats there, I never had a bad experience with them either.
Гриша Г — Google review
Been waiting to try this place. The breakfast was good, especially the cinnamon roll! The service was solid, it wasn't super busy for a weekend but I can see why this place gets packed. I would definitely return.

Bar
Hope Breakfast Bar in St. Paul is a spacious and contemporary eatery offering an extensive breakfast menu, perfect for brunch with friends or family. The restaurant provides a take-out option and serves plenty of coffee creations, cocktails, and flavorful plates designed to share. The ambiance is enhanced by the classy brick charm of the old firehouse where it's located. Visitors recommend going with a group to try different dishes as they are served tapas-style but in larger portions.
Absolutely Worth the Hype! I’ve been to the Saint Paul Hope Breakfast Bar a couple of times, but this visit was extra special since I brought an out-of-town guest-and once again, they did not disappoint. We started with the donut basket, and wow - fresh, warm donuts topped with ganache that were out of this world. A perfect way to kick off our meal. We ordered a variety of dishes to share: • The pimento cheese scramble was rich, flavorful, and generously portioned. • The BBLAT (yes, with all those layers!) was just as stunning to look at as it was to eat—crispy, savory, and fresh. • The avocado toast was hearty and satisfying, and the house-made pickled veggies added an unexpected and delicious twist. We also sipped on some iced coffees, which were smooth and refreshing; great complements to our meals. The service was top-notch. Both the waitstaff and the manager were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home. Hope Breakfast Bar continues to deliver a warm, creative, & delicious dining experience. We can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be back!

Very good breakfast/brunch here with my family. Wife got the monkey cakes and said best thing ever, I got the fried chicken and waffle, which had a jalapeno syrup. Very interesting flavor - definitely had some heat to it and was sweet. Very good! Youngest daughter had the red velvet waffle - beautiful! Eldest daughter had the smoke salmon and pimento cheese eggs. The eggs were sooooo creamy. Yum!!
Trevis C — Google review
We were placed in the back in front of the green wall. Beautiful interior. Food was VERY tasty. Service was not the best. Had to wait for a while between servers attention. I received my did last almost when everyone in my group has finished eating. No AC either so can't blame them for moving at a slower pace. Carried their own hot sauce brand. Very tasty.
Kimberly N — Google review
We love the patio at Hope, especially this time of year! The portions are generous, and overall the food is delicious—though it can be a bit on the spendy side. The bacon tacos are good, but I felt they could use just a little more flavor to really stand out. That said, everything we’ve tried here has been tasty. I’d highly recommend the hope spritz and the breakfast sandwich! Parking is the biggest downside to be honest.
Mikayla K — Google review
I really enjoyed Hope Breakfast Bar. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and they were amazing. We also ordered some banana bread pancakes for the table-very sweet but very delicious! All 3 of us had pumpkin spice lattes and we even ordered a second to go because they were so good. Service was great and the vibes were good. My only complain is parking-but that was to be expected downtown.
Kellee P — Google review
The food they have is simply amazing! They have a variety of breakfast and brunch items on the menu with a very extensive selection of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). I tried the blueberry matcha and I personally didn’t like it as the drink was not strong and I didn’t really taste the blueberry matcha. My friend tried the sea salt caramel latte and really enjoyed it (as a non caffeine drinker). We both tried the sunrise chilli crunch bowl and thoroughly loved it. Overall recommend the food and the place!
Thanuja R — Google review
Food was really good! We spilt the BBLAT, Pimento cheese scramble & buttermilk pancakes and some regular brew 🫠🤤 yummmmmm. It was super busy, an hour wait but luckily we got some bar seats right away. Food is worth the wait. Staff was friendly, Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. It’s a place to brunch and hang out with friends and enjoy being out in a bustling environment. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu! I saw mimosa towers being run out to tables, so I’ll be back to try my own soon!!🥂

The monkey pancakes were delicious, you have to try them! Maybe share with someone. Get a savory dish because these will hit your sweet tooth

The Day by Day Café is a cozy cafe that offers hearty breakfast fare all day and a patio with a koi pond. It's highly recommended and regulars love it.
Very cozy place. Little books and cranes to go in spread out across different rooms allows a big place that feels cozy. Garden is beautiful great atmosphere and not super loud. Amazing people here super relaxed and feels so comfy. Food is delicious and filling good menu options and flexible ordering. Waitress was super accommodating and helpful. We were a table of 6 and they were able to accommodate. Lots of very friendly regulars.

This cafe is so cute! They have a ton of gluten free options. The food was 4/5, just slightly underseasoned. Other than that our experience was amazing. Our server was John and he was an angel! The coffee is very good and they have soy and oat milk options. The atmosphere is 10/10, extremely cozy and they have an adorable patio.
Kenzie K — Google review
BEST FIND EVER!!! The back patio was insanely gorgeous. Even the inside seatings were so cute and fun too. We’ll have to come back and check out the indoor dining experience as well. Food was top, and very affordable. All the servers were so friendly and kind. A lot of families come here which makes the vibe so cozy. Perfect Sunday brunch spot, or honestly, any day spot!!!
Quynh N — Google review
Stopped on our way through to Duluth. We were able to bring our dog on the patio while we had breakfast. The menu had such a large variety of options (it smelled too good to wait to eat) The patio had little sculptures and artwork all over in addition to the charming little water feature. Service was incredible & so attentive. Also look at the cutest menu cover Adding to the list to come back!
Hannah K — Google review
The food is tasty and the omelette was surprisingly delicious. French Toast tasted so good it did not even need butter or syrup. The outside area is serene and charming, and the overall decor is quaint and memorable. It is one of the best cafés I have been to and I would visit again.
Jacob P — Google review
This place was AWESOME. We have a large family of 8, so I called ahead to make sure the patio was an option. The person on the phone was extremely pleasant and let me know he would save something for me. We got there and he set us up on the patio just as I requested. Our waitress was phenomenal! The entire staff was great, the food was great, and the patio was tranquil and perfect for a nice morning breakfast. Absolutely will return!!
Joshua S — Google review
I love the atmosphere, quaint decor and exceptional service at Day by Day cafe. We had an excellent experience and would definitely go back to try some of the bakery and other food items. The coffee was good. We had the avocado toast along with French toast with eggs and bacon. I really enjoyed the bread they used for the avocado toast but found the "avocado" part of the toast to be simply guacamole. I should have read the menu more thoroughly and expected this. The French toast was excellent. Overall, excellent restaurant experience.

This place is so cute! Tried it for the first time yesterday and it was great! The smoked salmon scramble with hollandaise was delicious. My bf got a 5 or more ingredient omelette and it was so yummy! Very quick service and great atmosphere. It’s filled with cute trinkets!

The French Hen Cafe, located in Saint Paul, is a charming brunch spot known for its cozy atmosphere and exceptional service. The menu features a delightful selection of French and Creole-inspired dishes, including crepes, sandwiches, soups, and creative brunch items like the Bahn Mi Benedict and Salmon Scrambled Eggs. Guests recommend arriving early to avoid crowds. The cafe's small dining room creates a bustling yet intimate ambiance that adds to the overall experience.
a fun little spot to grab a nice lunch! we didn’t plan ahead and was told it was about a 20 minute wait, but it was less (which is always great). definitely if you are planning, make a reservation. got the salty sweet pancake and breakfast sandwich. both were delicious! the size of the pancake will definitely have you bringing home leftovers, but the sandwich was sized for just the meal. great vibes and will definitely come back next time we’re in the city!
Thaya M — Google review
Place was very quaint and cozy, not a lot of tables to sit at but there were no problems with seating. There is a cute little plant/local items area you walk into before heading to the tables to sit and all the things there were adorable. Had the Creole Hash which overall was very tasty with some hot sauce! I just wish that all the items in my dish were the same temp. The broccoli and brussel sprouts were cold while everything else was lukewarm. If it all was nice and hot then it would’ve been perfect.
Yana S — Google review
The French Hen Café is tucked inside a lovely flower shop, and it’s the kind of place you might wander into while strolling by. We came with a group of eight, and unfortunately the seating was uncomfortable—our table was small and the benches weren’t great for a longer meal. On the positive side, our waitress was friendly and very efficient. The food, however, felt underwhelming. I had the salmon scramble, but it mostly tasted of chives and I could barely tell there was salmon in it. The coffee was good, though. Prices are average to slightly high for the area. The atmosphere is calm and not too noisy, which makes for easy conversation. Overall, I’m not sure I’d return—maybe on a quieter morning or with a smaller group, the experience would be better.
Eitan F — Google review
Very cute, quaint little place. Friendly service, delicious food. We went for brunch. You went through a really cute flower shop with all kinds of fun things. Servers were friendly and our server made sure to come around often and top up coffee. He was very attentive. Food was so tasty! We got the breakfast sandwich and the breakfast Ban Mih sandwich and split them. I was very pleased and food was filling! Overall recommend for a bite of tasty things! They also have nice coffee and tea! Plus you gotta love that name! As a chicken mama and chicken lover myself, I appreciate it. ❤🐓 It is a bit pricey, but eating out is already pricey, and I'd much rather eat at a place where they try and source their food locally and support local farms and businesses.
Eliana L — Google review
Went here for brunch with a friend. The place looked great, but it was pricier than I expected. I wasn’t super hungry, so I went with what looked like the cheapest thing on the menu—a plain buttermilk pancake. My mistake. If I had checked the reviews first, I would’ve known what I was in for. I didn’t love it, but honestly, I’m not sure what I expected—it was just a big (extra thick) plain pancake. Everything else I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, so I can’t fault The Hen overall. I was mostly just disappointed by the price: my pancake, coffee, and tip came out to over $25, which felt like way too much. Meanwhile, my friend got the omelet special with hashbrowns, and I definitely envied her choice. We ate outside on the sidewalk on a beautiful day.
Nicholas N — Google review
I had a good brunch this past weekend with my partner. I wanted to try the restaurant because of its offerings and I was not disappointed by the flavor. I ordered the catfish po boy and it very well reminded me of being in NOLA. We came just when it opened and it didn’t take very long for it to get busy. The wait for food wasn’t that long but the service could be better. Sometimes staff isn’t as attentive as they are to older customers, however I do come in and spend $80 for breakfast for two I’d expect a little better service. It wasn’t bad but there were discrepancies in service between my table and the table next to me in the same section.
Jasper — Google review
Food was fine, but expensive. Got the savory crepe. They asked us to leave shortly after paying to empty the table despite many other tables being open. Not bad, but not good enough for our return.
A H — Google review
Back in the Twin Cities for a wedding and my husband found this gem! As fellow husband-wife small business owners, we love seeing the passion and care that goes into a place like The French Hen. The Creole Market Hash with homemade turkey sausage was my favorite, and my southern husband was seriously impressed by the Poutine. So good we came back twice in two days. A true Twin Cities treasure—we’ll be back whenever we’re home!

Diner
Hi-Lo Diner is a trendy spot that offers classic American dishes, homemade donuts, and creative cocktails in a restored 1957 diner. The diner's menu pays homage to traditional favorites while adding modern twists, such as their signature Hi-Top fried pastries with various sweet and savory toppings. The retro ambiance of the place includes chrome fixtures and neon signs, serving breakfast all day.
A classic diner straight out of the 50s with good food and great service to boost. The diner car itself has a lot of history and has been restored to its original condition before being carted across the country to be in Minneapolis We had Huevos Rancheros, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Eggs and Pancake !! The Pancake was big and soft and fluffy. With great coffee and excellent service this is 9.8/10 recommendation
The B — Google review
The food was nice! The atmosphere is superb. Very cool diner feel. The waitress was so sweet and nice. I ordered the Fish and Chips. The fish was very good and not hard. It was “fall off the bone.” However, the fried fish was not crispy. Kind of felt like a baby’s arm. Not a beer batter. Just batter. The fries were crinkle cut and therefore not crispy. Some fragments and bits were though, which was nice. They were seasoned similarly to the taste of Lawry’s Seasoning. The dish included “capers,” which I’ve never tasted before. They’re fried little green bulbs from a plant. Salty and fried. But very much retained a green plant taste. Unique taste. My friend ordered the Huevos Rancheros and orange juice. The juice seemed fresh and had pulp, which I liked. The meat was well seasoned. It was a simple dish.

Great place with a super fun atmosphere. If you are looking for a classic diner, this is a great option! I got the Tex-Mex Burrito and it was tasty with a healthy portion size. I also had a pancake which was excellent (and big). Neither was mind-blowing but still very good. The big drawback is the price. All entrees are around 17 dollars which isn’t insane, but definitely on the expensive side for a diner. Overall; good spot with tasty food but expect to pay around 24 or so per person all in.
David C — Google review
Good food with friendly and attentive staff. The menu is fun with good variety. I love the chill atmosphere. We had the chips and guacamole (excellent), Notorious P.I.G.(great), the Mediterranean salad (just okay- flavors were unbalanced), and chicken tenders basket(great). The prices are a bit high.

Fantastic brunch spot! The atmosphere of the classic diner is great and they have a nice patio for outdoor seating! Their breakfast menu is great - I highly recommend the Hash Stuffed Hash and the Huevo Rancheros - the vegan chorizo is top notch!

Awesome little resturant. The atmosphere in there was nice and calm, the lights are very pretty. The food was very good but, the prices on some things were a bit much. I got the HI-Lo burger which was $17 with fries, the burger was smaller than I thought it would've been for price and didn't come with anything special besides cheese and sauce. The grilled cheese although was AMAZING, good for price ($16) especially with the soup (both entrees can come with either soup or fries) the mac n cheese was vaguely worth it. $16 is a bit much for a bowl of pasta, but to each their own. Overall service was awesome, our waiter was very nice and checked up on us frequently but not annoyingly which was nice. Would recommend!

Lots of character in this diner car restaurant. Food was delicious, I loved the Cuban Sandwich, and the donut was freshly fried and glazed.

The Lexington is a classic St. Paul institution that has been serving upscale American steakhouse fare and cocktails since 1935. The refurbished bar exudes a luxurious mid-century modern atmosphere, offering a variety of classic and modern cocktails. The food menu features comfort-food favorites with unexpected twists, such as onion rings served with kimchi ranch.
We had our wedding reception in the Williamsburg Room at The Lex back in September and it was everything we could have dreamed of and more. We had an intimate wedding with about 50 guests and our vision was what I described as a "JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette wedding vibe combined with a classy Jazz Supper Club feel" And it couldn't have been more perfect than to do it in such a sophisticated and historic building. The food was delicious and the service was IMPECCABLE. Not only did we feel like we were A-list stars, but our guests felt that way too. Minda was an absolute dream to work with during the planning and during the day of - no question was too big or too silly. She was so helpful and made sure I was taken care of every step of the way! I don't live locally, which made it a little more tricky for the planning process, but she'd go out of way to send me pictures and videos of the space to help me with all the little planning details! Even my MOH gushed about how wonderful it was to coordinate with her. The bartenders and waitstaff epitomized the vintage Supper Club feel, with perfect service and just being so incredibly friendly. The best part was, I had my nieces and nephews in attendance and the bartenders didn't just make them kiddie cocktails - they went all out to make them fancier concoctions than I usually receive at a normal cocktail bar! (I included a fun little picture and video as an example!) A special shoutout to Andrew who really went all out and even got my nephew a fun little hat while making one of the drinks. The kids all had so much fun just from the entertainment of their drinks. It has been 8 months since our wedding and my guests will STILL randomly talk about how amazing our reception was and how fantastic Andrew is. We have never experienced a bartender as amazing as him and I hope he knows just how much we appreciate that he brought so much fun and laughter to our reception. I even had guests from Philly concocting ideas on whether they could fly him out for their own wedding. :) We can't wait to come back and visit!!

Came here for my girlfriend’s birthday and it was definitely a 4/5 for me! The atmosphere was quiet enough for us to relax, talk, and enjoy dinner. The food was amazing—everything came out flavorful and well-prepared. Our server was knowledgeable and such a good sport, going along with our shenanigans throughout the night, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a nice, elegant dinner with a comfortable vibe.

Decided to make a trip to The Lexington as an homage to the spooky month of October since it is allegedly haunted. The ambiance of the restaurant is as one would expect if a place that dates back to the 1930s. It's a cozy atmosphere, and perfect for a date night. Our waitress was very polite and gave us her suggestions. She was attentive and we never felt like we were left hanging at any point. Our appetizer was the lobster and cauliflower dip, followed by the Lobster Spaghetti and Whitefish Gorbachev. Both dishes were great, the appetizer was ok. I feel like the lobster that was in the spaghetti was better, sweeter and less "fishy" tasting if that makes sense the fish was refreshing with a nice crust on it. The spaghetti was nice and thick and the lobster was a nice touch to it. I feel like there was a good amount of lobster on the dish as well. Overall, I think the Lexington was nice. I think it's pricing correlates closely with it's history and status as a good and well known restaurant in the area. I don't think I can definitely say that the quality of the food matched the cost as nothing I had was truly mind blowing, but The Lexington was certainly worth the trip and I think next time I may consider some of the steak options in lieu of the pasta.

Simply delightful! The food here is incredible, from appetizers all the way through to dessert. My salmon was melt-in-your-mouth perfect, and the cheesecake was fantastic. I loved the Last Word cocktail too. You can tell they pay attention to every detail. Add in a wonderful server and a great old-school vibe with genuine service, and you've got a winner!

We live in the neighborhood and decided on a date night. We had an amazing dinner. Food, service and atmosphere were top shelf. I had the center cut Ribeye cooked rare with bone marrow butter. AMAZING! I can't say enough in one review to do the Lex justice. We'll be back for sure and soon! Oh, our server, Sage was awesome and we hope to see her again.

Spontaneous stop at this historic restaurant! Always a wonderful experience! We had to sit at the bar because it was full reservations on a Saturday night. Enjoyed the lamb meatballs, muscles and fries and a beautiful Bordeaux. Moved to the jazz bar where they had live music and our favorites bartender, Andrew! Make sure to put this fantastic restaurant on your list!

The Lexington offers great food and friendly service, with a more relaxed vibe on the rooftop. We had a wonderful dining experience, and the birthday ice cream made for a special memory for my son.

Visited on a Wednesday evening during Restaurant Week. It was packed. We got a table in the corner, tucked behind the bar. Our server was attentive but busy as all of her other tables were in a different room. We tried each of the specials they offered, Caesar salad, walleye cakes, salmon, steak, grasshopper pie, & chocolate cake. $45 per person was a fair price. We were celebrating our anniversary and they brought an extra dessert (ice cream) as a gift.

My family and I stopped here after a fun afternoon in Saint Paul! This is a little cute cozy tucked away restaurant! Love that it wasn’t too loud , when we got there , there was hardly anyone there! Our waiter was so sweet and so patient with us!All of us loved our food , the grilled steak salad was a BIG hit! Loved that they also had GF options!!! And the mocktails were so Delicious with so much FLAVOR!!🤩as we were walking out of the restaurant we noticed the gorgeous pastry case! So hard to resist! I will definitely be recommending this place to my family and friends!!

A buddy recommend this place so came to try their breakfast. They have lots of options for both eats and desserts. The croissant breakfast sandwich was tasty and the salad fresh. The French toast was also really good. Their coffee has unlimited refills which is always a nice touch. Service was fast. I’d come back to try some of their sweets. I’d give it a 4.5 overall.

Quite disappointed at this location. I liked their Minneapolis location so I was hoping this will turn out good too. First off, the host. Just a note to restaurants, your host will always be the first person whom customers interact with when they come in so have someone there who's at least friendly or welcoming. Our host looked so miserable and seemed like she didn't want to be there, even my daughter looked at me with a baffled face. Then comes the server who also wasn't that welcoming but not as bad as the host. My daughter ordered the egg and bacon croissant and the chicken wild rice soup. I ordered the blackened fish taco. My daughter said her croissant was good but a little messy, mostly because of all the stuff inside, which is a good thing. The soup was pretty bland though. And my taco was full to the brim but it's mostly slaw and a tiny piece of fish. The taste was also "mid", using my daughter's description. The desserts were also pretty mediocre. Dry and didn't taste like it was freshly baked. I don't mind if it was baked yesterday but this seemed like it's been in the fridge for days and tasted like they were just baked at your local grocery store. Overall, wasn't the experience I was hoping for on a nice Saturday. But, I always say, it doesn't matter to me if the food is not that great but the service makes or break it. I'm a pretty easy customer but I don't go to restaurants just for the food but also for the experience. Plus, you expect us to leave a good tip. Lastly, like one of the reviewers mentioned, they charge 5% for "wellness" service charge. Why is it everybody's responsibility to give your employees the benefits they deserve? Will not come back for sure.

i ordered from doordash and got the most disgusting, slimy, rotten salad ever. the lyndale location does not have this quality issue. rotten cucumbers, slimy lettuce, brown guacamole, crusty hummus, and the berry on my cake has mold on it.

So freaking tasty! Vegan and gluten-free items are clearly marked on the menu. We came for brunch/early lunch on a weekday and there were only four tables. I had a special of vegan, gluten-free breakfast tacos and my girlfriend and I split the vegan and gluten-free cream pie / chocolate berry dessert (can't remember the name exactly)... OMG amazing!! We were like, we won't eat the whole thing.... And then we smashed it.

The Uptowner Cafe on Grand is a beloved local diner in St. Paul, known for its cozy and quirky atmosphere. With a strong social media presence, it has garnered a large following eagerly anticipating their unique Grand Cafe boxes filled with delightful treats. While parking may be a challenge due to street-only options, the fast service and limited yet appealing menu make it an ideal spot for brunch before exploring the city's attractions.
This classic diner is an easy 5-star establishment. The service was impeccable; there is no chance that my drink was going to be empty for even a millisecond. They were always on top of topping it off no matter how fast I tried to drink. The atmosphere is charming; there are hundreds of pieces of art from previous customers and children hanging on their wall, truly feeling local and warm. The early bird special is impossible to beat — not because of the price but the fact that they said, “Enjoy, you early birds!” when they handed us our food. I will absolutely be returning

Disappointing breakfast today. Server couldn’t get my order right or bring the side of Hollandaise that I ordered, when I didn’t eat my food, she offered to box it up. Why would I want to eat food later that wasn’t to my liking while in the cafe? She didn’t offer to take it off the bill despite the fact I never touched it because I was waiting for the Hollandaise she couldn’t be bothered to bring. Owner didn’t seem to notice that I didn’t eat my food either. He had promised me a special breakfast- when I stated my appetite was pretty small. Hopefully the server noticed the $1 tip on the $55 breakfast bill for 3 people. Sad… used to love this place.

Amazing waffle, the layout and the aesthetic of the inside , gives me a lived in, homey feeling, for example how the booth's leather is faded and cracked, gives the furniture character. Very friendly and approachable staff, all around comfortable environment. This coffee / wafflle house is great! Definitely will be back to try other waffles on the menu. Thanks 🙏

First time and last time here. Ordered vanilla latte. It tasted sour. Never drank sour tasting latte in my life until now. Ordered two waffles. Waffles took 45 mins to make. And when they came out it was over cooked. And also tasted sour.

First love, second waffle. Friends and I tried a different location and the seating was neat! We tried some new waffles, had a nice time to chill, and we all tried each others waffles. Presentation was beautiful, not only that, but the taste too! Waffles with fruit have been very light, not too sweet but just right. If you're lookin for sweet, the options between Chocolate/Caramel/Peanut Butter will get you there. Take your friends ♡

I'm new in the neighborhood. I decided Father's Day would be a good occasion to try the waffles here. The only problem was many other people had the same idea, which meant the service was a little slow. Were they understaffed, considering it was a special day? I don't know... I don't want to say anything bad about the servers because they were really nice and kind. But we were 3 at the table and we didn't get the 3 plates at the same time...and the coffees arrived when we were almost finishing... Other than that, the food was delicious. We ordered the Loaded Potato, Apple Strudel and Banana waffles. And there was a family-oriented atmosphere that we enjoyed. Now we need to go back and try all the other flavors! (And maybe on a more quiet day...)

Decided to try this place out with my boyfriend since it looked super good, I was very excited to try it out. Both the waffles looked delicious and as I was getting ready to dig in, I come across hair.. Very bad impression and super disappointed as I was excited to try this place out.
Mari L — Google review
What a disappointment. First, the prices on the menu online are not correct. I was told they changed prices quite awhile ago and they would not honor the online price that was over $2 cheaper. The place is filthy. Sticky counters, dirty bathrooms full of fruit flies and open soap bottle empty and tipped over on the sink. So hot and uncomfortable. Our food was blah. Soggy waffles and a warm glass of water. I think a call to the health department is in order. I can only imagine what is going on in their kitchen. Y U C K! Stay away!
CWBW — Google review
Very lousy service. We ordered two waffles and took almost an hour for them to bring out only one of them! My girlfriend received her waffle and they took our number away from our table and forgot about mine. I finally got my waffle by the time my girlfriend was almost finished with hers. Also seen other people get their food before us who came in long after we did. Very despicable. Would not recommend.

Visitors often reminisce about the iconic Keys monster cookie, renowned for its size and quality. The cafe holds sentimental value for many patrons, with fond memories tied to their experiences there.
My cousin and I had a delightful meal at Keys Cafe. Our server was phenomenal! The food was delicious. The bakery case looked amazing and the items we tried were quite tasty. The walkways between seats are a bit narrow. It would be tricky to navigate a wheelchair to the restroom or further into the restaurant. Otherwise it's a charming place. I'm looking forward to dining again. Thank you!

My family and I stopped at Keys for breakfast over Memorial Day weekend. There was no wait, but the place was busy! They were able to seat 5 of us right away and got our drink orders. They have an awesome little bakery counter and coolers with soups and take out hot dishes - we didn’t need any of this after our meals but it was nice to see. I ordered the Cajun Breakfast and the portion was huge and so so delicious. My fiancé ordered the biscuits and gravy and his brother got the Eggs Benedict. All delicious. Not pictured, but my daughters both got pancakes (shaped like Mickey Mouse) with whipped cream and m&ms and sides bacon. The pancakes are enormous and really really tasty! We highly recommend Keys to anyone and everyone! They also have meatless options.

Everything was great there. I had the bisket and gravy and my wife had the farmers omelet. Nicely prepared and the presentation was great. Although, I would have like a bit more gravy for the large bisket but it was fine. I will try something else next time I go there. It has been around for a long time for a reason.

We loved this place! The staff was super friendly and helpful and helped us pick what to order. The food was amazing -- the homemade crust on the pot pie and homemade biscuits were phenomenal. I wish I could give this place 6 stars. I came here after a poor experience at a nearby coffee shop. Highland Grill is a bustling eatery known for its classic comfort dishes and cocktails, creating an upbeat atmosphere. The restaurant offers sizable portions of proper breakfast options, including fluffy buttermilk pancakes and hearty jack cakes. It's a popular spot for brunch and lunch, with Mickey Mouse-shaped pancakes for kids and a great bloody mary. Additionally, the establishment serves Q coffee. While it can get crowded on weekends, visiting during the week provides a quieter experience.
Definitely worth the 30-minute wait, would have waited an hour if we had to. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the decor, outstanding! Two words: Oatmeal Pancakes. You'll thank me later. Great big menu, you'll need time to deliberate from all of the wonderful choices offered. Diner like atmosphere with individual stools and a counter up front if you're dining solo. Lots of tables and booths, but on weekends, they are going to be full and you may have to wait like we did. Definitely worth it. They will text you when the table is ready. Check out the store across the street while you wait, interesting place.

This is our new go to in Highland Village in St. Paul for lunch and breakfast food. Classic American diner food in a clean and comfortable restaurant with many booths and tables. They have daily specials on the caulk board, that always have something delicious to offer. They usually have 4 really good soup offerings. It's nice to have a selection that isn't just chicken noodle or tomato basil. I love the beef barley soup! We had breakfast food and was happy they offered a keto type offering, I just skipped the toast. The veggie mix is such a great alternative to hashbrowns and very nutritious. They are very accommodating and always helpful for dietary needs. The bakery case had some items that looked really good. I have to stay out for now. The food is really good, the people are nice and it's comfortable and it's not a chain restaurant. Support local business and you will find something here as there is an awesome selection for any meal time.

Delicious! The food is hearty, but light and not oily. The pesto pasta (without meat) is a great vegetarian option. It is not heavy, or creamy which is nice for lactose intolerant people. The fish and chips are tender & fluffy. The horseradish sauce compliments the fish & bread/batter well. Please give the chefs a raise!

EAT ON THE STREET: the space outside in summer is really fun and its actually quieter OUTSIDE when its really busy inside. The steak perogies is a showstopper and so is the Brussel sprouts. Its a perfect friend spot to catch up and get reacquainted, they allow dogs outside and its a nice spot to have the dog with you ( well mannered of course) and hand out for a little funshine date wit your pet.

My son told me to visit here and I dragged my feet about going. I'm salty now because the place is 🔥!! It's small but cute and cozy, 8.5/10 on the atmosphere. Now my server Lex, she rocked and she had big style so that's a 10/10 for me. The early happy hour had us feeling really excited we picked the place. The food took it to another level. We had the salmon dip as an appetizer 8/10, the salmon entrée with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts (which was enough to split with my friend) 10/10, chicken Wings 9/10 and we all had drinks. I did the Highland Mule 11/10, sangria 10/10 and the breakfast margarita 10/10. Safe to say I'll be back and you should give it a try too!!

Service was good. Fairly noisy place. And food was just ok. Had the chicken sandwich which was bland, chips were not good and tasted funny. Eggs Benny was also disappointing, holandaise sauce was mediocre, hash browns were ok but too salty in some areas and no salt in others. One thing we did really like was the loaded tots. I'd probably have been happy if I just ordered that as a meal. Place was pretty full at 6pm on a Wednesday.

While it may not be the fanciest option in town, it offers a welcoming atmosphere and consistently good meals.
The Neighborhood Cafe is a very popular breakfast/lunch establishment. I recently took my wife there for her favorite meal (breakfast) on her birthday. We heard good reports about the place. We arrived shortly after they opened to avoid the crowds and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. I ordered the Carnitas Breakfast Burrito. It was a huge plateful, very tasty, and not overly salted as is too-often the case at other establishments (I just add enough hot sauce to bring it to the proper saltiness). The service was great when we went but that was when it was uncrowded. I can't comment on what it would be when busy. The atmosphere was average "old cafe" and some of the booth upholstery could use some repair. Another minor irritant is the sparse street parking combined with the heavy traffic. Overall, an excellent dining experience and I would certainly return to try some of their other tempting offerings.

The staff were amazing; so kind, patient, and helpful. We were able to get a spot amidst a rush, and service was quick and accurate. The food itself was delicious, bursting with flavor and all the right textures in the places one might hope them to be. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and hope to come again soon! 🩵🩷🩵🩵

As the name indicates, great neighborhood spot! We got seated within 10-15min at 12:30 on a Sunday with 4 people. We used street parking and spent about $65 for all of our meals. Service was great, food selection was perfect for our group, offering a brunch and lunch menu with a range of healthy to decant options! Would recommend the french toast, maple syrup felt a little watered down but still a great spread!

And there’s a DISCREET and secret dog café patio in the back! This restaurant is female owned and has been here for more than 20 years. There is a reason the most popular item is the Cajun omelete and with the world class love affair that Minnesotan’s have with hollandaise sauce- is well represented on these plated items! A hearty breakfast that is easy to split with a friend and they understand a flavor profile, we had the Cajun omelet, and you could taste the andouille sausage, finally ground, so that it was married with all the other flavors in every bite! Yes friends, you will get that robust Cajun flavor in every mouthful without being overly spiced! Fresh squeezed orange juice was our surprise and you really have to order the extra corn pancake. They serve it with honey butter and while you can put syrup on it it doesn’t need the syrup. It has a sweetness and a little crunch with a little soft. It’s kind of a miracle. This is totally a bring your dude kind of place and at the same time sit with your girlfriends, or go alone and hang out with your dog it’s that versatile. Its an awkward hunt for parking so if your bringing grandpa or a family drop them off. You can get a walker into the bathroom and it has a wide hallway so you can also swing in a wheelchair. The front dining area absolutely can accommodate wheelchairs. And weekdays are really easy to get someone who needs a little extra care in and out. Dogs have to be outside and it’s an oasis so they are going to love it , plus there’s a rumored hummingbird!

The Neighborhood Cafe is so good! We had the breakfast burrito, Cajun breakfast, and of course -- a cornbread pancake on the side which is the best! Great service and easy to get a table on a week day morning.

Breakfast at the Neighborhood Cafe in St. Paul was awesome. My wife had the Migos platter and liked the cornbread pancakes and she said the refried black beans where super good. my Eggs Benedict was one of the best, the Hollandise sauce was the best I have had. If your in the Twin Cities, it is a must. Just off I-94 about 5 blocks of Selby.

Hands down, the best breakfast my husband and I had on our trip to the Twin Cities. Their hashbrowns are the best hashbrowns I've ever had in my life. I had the Carnitas Breakfast Burrito. My husband had Cornbread Pancakes, sausage, and hashbrowns. Fast, friendly, appropriately staffed, fairly priced, and great cafe/diner atmosphere.

Been here twice now, and the workers have always given an extremely pleasant experience, followed by fantastic food. There's not a lot of places around these days that don't blatantly discriminate normal people. Thanks guys. My favorite person was the blond person with glasses who kneels down at our table and listens very carefully with a smile.

Louisiana Cafe is a casual eatery that offers hearty American breakfast and lunch options, as well as classic soda fountain creations. It has a spacious dining area and a small outdoor seating area. The cafe is known for its extensive brunch menu, which attracts many customers on weekends. Breakfast dishes include pancakes that are the same size as the dinner plate, along with various saucy Benedicts featuring different types of meats. For lunch and dinner, the menu consists of typical diner fare.
One of my favorite breakfast/brunch places in St. Paul! The Carnitas Benedict is my go to. Their waffles and pancakes are amazing too if you're looking for something sweeter. Always my go to recommendation for people looking for a great meal with sizable portions! Everyone I have suggested come here or brought here myself have absolutely loved their food!

I loved ❤️ my first visit to this place. Honestly I googled Black owned restaurants near me because I am Pro Black and I'd like to support my community and I'm noticing that when you get to a place it's not Black owned so the listing is misleading but I don't mind supporting diverse groups. What I did like about this place is that it's big and has plenty of seating, it was clean! the coffee is rich and smooth the food was great very big portions 😍! But....can get pricey for one person. My bill came up to $38.07 plus the tip $5.07

When I lived in the Twin Cities many years ago, The Louisiana Cafe was my go to breakfast spot. On a return visit to the Twin Cities, I decided to revisit some of my old haunts and I am happy to report that the Louisiana Cafe is exactly as I remember: the Tex Mex is still delicious and too large for one human to safely eat by themselves; the caramel rolls still melt in your mouth and create pure joy; and the cafe is still a great place to chat with old friends while drinking a never ending cup of coffee.

This is undoubtedly one of my favorite spots to indulge in a fantastic meal. From the moment you step through the door, the warm and inviting ambiance sets the tone for a delightful dining experience. They serve an incredible Cajun breakfast that never fails to impress. On this trip, we couldn't resist the Cajun breakfast again, and it was just as exceptional as I remembered. The dishes are bursting with flavor, expertly seasoned to capture that authentic Cajun seasoning. In addition to the breakfast, we treated ourselves to the crab cake Benedict, which was a revelation. The crab cakes were perfectly cooked nice and tender on the inside while boasting a beautiful, crispy crust on the outside. Each bite was a delicious balance of rich flavors and textures that left us craving more. One of the standout features of this place is the generous portion sizes. You definitely get your money’s worth. I always leave feeling full and satisfied, which is a testament to their commitment to quality and quantity. Our server, Bryan, truly elevated our experience. He was not only fantastic in his service but also impressively knowledgeable about the entire menu. He made thoughtful recommendations that enhanced our meal, and he was attentive in making sure our coffee cups were always full, even during the height of the breakfast rush. It’s a rare treat to find such attentive service in a bustling setting. Additionally, the location is a definite plus, complete with a spacious parking lot that ensures a hassle-free arrival. There’s also ample street parking available, making it convenient for anyone looking to visit. Overall, this spot has a perfect blend of delicious food, fantastic service, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for anyone craving a hearty and flavorful meal!

Stopped here for breakfast and was very impressed. The plates are huge, great prices and excellent service. The carnitas was flavorful. The Santa Fe Amex burrito was massive and delicious!

The Louisiana Café is a fantastic spot for a hearty Southern-style breakfast. The food is absolutely delicious and worth the visit! I ordered a dish with crispy hash browns, a perfectly cooked patty, and eggs smothered in a rich, velvety hollandaise sauce with a dash of paprika. Everything was well-seasoned, cooked to perfection, and full of flavor. The cornbread muffin on the side was a nice touch, and the coffee was strong and fresh. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is the wait time. It took a bit longer than expected to get our food, which was a little frustrating, especially when you’re hungry and excited for a great meal. That said, the quality of the food definitely made up for it. If you have the patience for a slightly longer wait, this place is absolutely worth it. I’d definitely come back for another round of their amazing breakfast!

Delicious breakfast! Good service! Reasonable prices! We sat outside which was lovely. The catfish and cinnamon roll were our favorites. Everything was good.

Expensive. No complaints otherwise. Nice, down to earth cafe that could be a diamond in the rough, except they are charging "farm to table" prices for average, cafe style food. After tax and gratuity I paid over $20 for what was essentially two eggs, two sausage patties, one english muffin and a plateful of hash browns. I didn't even order coffee. Again, the food was decent...just not a $20/breakfast kind of joint. Service and atmosphere were top notch:)

Maria's Cafe is a vibrant daytime diner that brings the flavors of North and South America to life, with a special emphasis on Colombian cuisine. Renowned for its legendary corn pancakes, this gem in Minneapolis offers an array of hearty dishes that are sure to delight your taste buds. The must-try corn pancakes come drizzled with maple syrup and sprinkled with Cotija cheese, creating a perfect blend of sweet and savory.
A classic Minneapolis haunt, a greasy spoon diner with a South American twist. The corn pancake with cotija really stood out to me. There was also live bossa nova music when I went. The vibe was relaxed and I really enjoyed myself. Absolutely would come back.

We came here for brunch. Did not disappoint. Hands down the best corn pancakes I’ve ever had. Service was fast. All of the recommendations the server suggested were so good and flavorful. We came at closing and didn’t feel rushed. Street parking was just fine to find. The construction nearby can throw you off because of the building layout but still a gem. Would recommend!

It’s great food, a classic, nostalgic like diner with a wide variety offering of breakfast food, although we opted for the Colombian food, such as arepas and empanadas which were very tasty, along with the coffee which was great as well. In addition the staff was friendly and spoke Spanish with us, as those who I was with are Spanish speaking.

Colombian Restaurant – Great Food at Affordable Prices Order: Guanábana Juice: This juice comes from a fruit that looks like a cherimoya. It tastes sweet with a hint of tartness. Delicious, but be careful—too much might get your digestive system moving quickly! Corn Pancake: I initially thought it would be made with cornmeal, but it seems like they’ve mixed whole corn kernels into the batter. The taste is good but a bit oily, which is a small downside. Wild Rice Pancake: A unique fusion of East meets West, this pancake is made with a batter mixed with purple rice. It’s a fun blend of textures and flavors that you won’t find in your typical pancake! 🥞

Maria's Cafe is a fantastic restaurant, I ordered delivery for my family one morning and it was absolutely incredible. I've been to the restaurant in the past and it has a wonderful quaint vibe. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Juan’s Breakfast Sandwich: This breakfast sandwich is really a star, very tasty and vibrant flavors on a perfect roll. Paisa Bowl (Bandeja Paisa): This dish provides an excellent tour of the varied flavors that are a hallmark of Maria's. Fausto’s Chocolate Chip Pancakes: These were a random choice and very impressed, perfect balance of texture and flavor. Maria’s Special Quesadilla: Very tasty quesadilla and well worth a try!! I will definitely return to Maria's they make their food with great care and they have my praise for the care they put in every dish.

Known for their famous caramel rolls, this cafe offers hearty brunches and comforting meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
OMG this place is a hidden gem! We had the best food and service that we have had in a long time. It wasn’t what we expected from a Cafe & Bakery but everything we ordered was so amazing that our plates were completely clean (even though the portions of food were big)! I had the tomato bisque soup with a grilled cheese made from homemade bread. This was a perfect combination! Yum yum and then some! The carrot cake was the kind you search for but never can find! Our service was excellent and the place is very family friendly. I highly recommend Keys Cafe & Bakery on Roberts St in downtown St. Paul, MN.

mashed potatoes were exactly that and the gravy was excellent- not that brown goop that some restaurants slop on things… I also tried their Monte Cristo sandwich and was pleased with it as well… The house made cakes and pies are extremely Drool Worthy!!… The Dutch Apple Pie was a different, but good spin with the Carrot Cake & German Chocolate being Outstanding… Both cakes were moist, rich and properly iced to bring out the flavors… Coffee is excellent as well… Our server Miles was a great resource when deciding items to order and Tyree, the Kitchen Mgr & Cook was an engaging and enthusiastic host… Great Food, Great Service and Great Atmosphere along with being Family Owned and staffed…

On top of that, they have the classic "service charge" on top of your bill. Certainly, this isn't on the server, but a reflection of Keys, the City of St. Paul, and the economic times. So anyway, if you needed another reason to visit other than the food is incredible, they are really nice folks, too.

If you love chocolate like I do , get a CAMPFIRE LATTE (espresso, chocolate, caramel, milk, graham crumbs, marshmallow). It was heavenly. One of the best lattes I have had. I didn’t like the sandwich, the bread was hard and it didn’t have good seasoning. That’s the reason for the 4 star rating. Service was very friendly and fast. And I liked the atmosphere and design of the cafe. Great Coffee spot in St Paul.

Read about their award winning burgers, but it was a Friday and also read to try their fish fry. Spot on!! Four pieces of perfectly battered fried cod on a bed of endless fries. The catsup and tartar sauce had a stone ground mustard mix to it which was unique and really good. Rate to find a good fish fry let alone at an airport!!

I tried the breakfast burger here recently. Service was quick, and the food also came out quite quickly. The food was quite good for airport standards, but not amazing. Quite expensive for what you get.
Michal B — Google review
This is not the best Red Cow in rhe Minneapolis area, and the staff clearly doesn’t aspire to make it so either. The staff is friendly but it is very evident that they don’t see you as a potential repeat customer. The beer menu apparently changes so often that they need to use small notes as a beer menu (which we found okay actually). The bar tender was unfriendly and decided not to answer any questions but refer to the waiting staff instead (he was playing with his phone). The food is average at best even though we tried very simple dishes. We will go to another Red Cow next time, and at the airport we will pick another option.

Ordered the double barrel burger which was supposed to be the premium (award winning) option. The food took a long time to arrive, and my first question was "where's the beef?" It was supposed to be a double patty, but barely had enough meat for small single patty. Although tasty, it was overcooked and left me wanting more. It took forever to get the check, which was not an issue due to our long layover.

The owners are smart and offer all non-pork meat options! The beef bacon? Say what now? It’s amazing! Turkey ham and cheese sandwich? Holy buckets outstanding! We found this place just randomly, by searching restaurants around our hotel, and i have to say it was an amazing experience. My 11 year old son has never seen a traditional diner. Well this thing was a beauty. I had to explain what that thing in the wall was (coin operated jukebox). Super cool vibe. We had double stack pancakes, Cluck N Chuck Burger and Mickeys Sputnik Burger. We weren't even that hungry but we devoured our food withing 10-15 mins. Burger patty's we're tender, delicious and super juicy. I always say the messier the burger the better it is. This was one of the best damn burgers I've ever had. Must visit if youre in St.Paul, MN.

I've walked past here a banch of time's, but never stopped in. Today I was CRAVING a party melt and this place completely satisfied that craving. So often, the bread to beef ratio at restaurants is so out of wack with their party melts, but it was perfection here. The patty was well seasoned and the onions and cheese were perfect. The staff was great and the place was unique as well. I will be back!!

For starters we got in there we were ordering takeout it took a minute to get our order going. We were sitting right in front where the food is being made and unfortunately it was cross-contamination Central, the gentleman that was cooking had put gloves on touch the hash browns touch the hamburgers touch the bacon touch the register. I really felt like walking out but I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately the french fries weren't even Frozen they were sitting out which made them soggy and nasty I asked for extra crispy fries definitely did not get that no seasoning on the hamburger or the French fries. I was highly disappointed I would be better off going to flameburger

Chef Alex Roberts offers a thoughtful vegetarian prix fixe menu alongside their carnivorous options, featuring seasonal dishes like celery root sformato, fresh ricotta gnudi, and coconut rice crepe. The restaurant's approach to fine dining emphasizes richness, aromatics, and the essence of each ingredient.
My husband and I made a reservation the day before. When we arrived, we were greeted in the foyer. Welcoming and friendly staff helped us to check in and escorted us to a private balcony. The seating area was beautiful and secluded for the majority of our experience (which was a major bonus.) service was amazing. Our waitress knew just when to check in and offered privacy for us to enjoy our dinner. Each dish was explained very well and flavor was impeccable. A truly unique experience. The seasonal menu that was offered exceeded our expectations. My husband and I had a lovely time. Definitely recommend for a special occasion.

First timer. The food was good. Service was good, HOWEVER, she wasn’t consistent with pouring the wine. I kept getting more than my husband so that’s why that is a 3 instead of 4. The best dish was the fish dish then the soup. The tartare was ok. The polenta was bland and disappointing, but the mushrooms were good on top. The duck was good, but not amazing. Same with the pasta. The dessert was yummy. Spending over 400 dollars was not worth it though.

Amazing fine dining. We did a course meal. One of us is vegan in the other vegetarian. We were both extremely satisfied with the quality of the food, the ingredients, the service, and the atmosphere. It was expensive for us but we went here for our 10th anniversary and we both agreed that it was worth the money. We will surely be back someday.

We went to Alma to Celebrate finishing the Twin Cities Marathon. It was Grandma, Grandpa, my wife, myself and our 2.5 year old daughter. The food was extraordinary. Three course menu for the adults and they had buttered noodles for our daughter. We were worried about bringing her to such a nice restaurant, but let me tell you, the staff was EXCEPTIONAL with her!!! They had a booster seat for her, when her food was running a little behind when promised, they brought her two snacks to hold her over. On top of that they were just so nice and interactive with her as well as proving great service to the adults. Highly recommend!!! We had a great experience!!!

Anyways we decided to take a leap of faith and dine in for our anniversary and this was our rating Atmosphere/Parking/Greetings - 4/5 We arrived around 630pm and was able to locate a small parking lot in the back of the building designated for Alma guest only. I initially didn't see the parking or any signs that there was a parking lot in the back. My husband was the one who pointed it out. If you do street parking, it looked busy around this time. Walking into the building it's a little unintuitive on where the restaurant is as there are no signs. The doors have Alma Cafe written on it and no Alma Restaurant. The host desk to be seated to the restaurant is hidden behind a wall next to stairs if you enter through the café left doors (there are multiple doors...) so I wasn't able to see him nor really determine where the restaurant was without looking lost lol. Entering the restaurant atmosphere in general is small and intimate and overall more quiet than most places. We overall do not have a problem with this. Seats were comfy and water was wet. We're good here. Service - 5/5 We had the pleasure of being served by Giovanni (excuse me if I misspelled the name). He greeted us right away and was professional, informative, and just overall very pleasant. He gave us some champagne to celebrate our first time in Alma which my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised about. Because my husband and I are more casual people we enjoyed his little breaks from being super fancy with us and just being personable and relatable. We enjoyed the service. Food - 4/5 The food was good and cooked perfectly. Nothing was overcooked or undercooked. However, my reason for 4 star rating is because even though it was good, it was nothing out of this world that we'd come back for for the price that we paid. I did the wine pairing with the food and honestly felt happy with my decision ($60 addition). Our server was nice to top off my wine with no additional charge. Overall - 4/5 In summary, if you're looking for a fancy first time course meal experience, but aren't too adventurous with your flavors, I'd HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

This is one of my new favorite places! I went by myself and got the BLT, a cookie and the bibb lettuce salad. EVERYTHING was amazing. The bacon on the BLT was so thick and smoky, the bibb lettuce salad was to die for (so much flavor!), the cookie may as well have been home made in my kitchen, and the chai latte hit the spot. The ambiance is great and the service was on point. I'll be going back soon! Especially for that salad.

Ellie (sp?) was an outstanding server and the entire team there was wonderful too! It was our first time going here and we had a outstanding experience. The food was incredible and I love their focus on what is in-season and that they source some of it locally too. I would highly recommend this place for special occassions/ celebrations too. I loved that the offered Keepsake ciders and some local craft beers too.

I recently had the pleasure of indulging in an unforgettable tasting menu, and it was a culinary experience that exceeded all expectations. Each dish presented was a masterpiece, but a few truly stood out. The mushroom-truffle broth was an aromatic delight, bursting with umami flavors that enveloped the senses. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy, with a seasoning that accentuated their natural taste. The salmon was a standout, its flaky texture paired harmoniously with a delicate sauce that highlighted the freshness of the fish. The shrimp, orzo, and pasta offered a delightful medley of textures and flavors, while the rigatoni was rich and comforting, a true testament to the chef’s skill. Beyond the exquisite food, the service was impeccable, with each server attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the experience without being intrusive. The dinner ambiance was just right, with a soothing atmosphere that made the evening feel special and intimate. This tasting menu was more than just a meal; it was a journey through culinary excellence, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in an extraordinary dining experience.

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Dinkytown, Al's Breakfast is a beloved gem that has been delighting patrons since 1950. This charming diner, known for its old-school ambiance and classic breakfast and lunch offerings, boasts an impressively narrow design—just ten feet wide! With only 14 seats available along a single counter, it’s no surprise that locals and University of Minnesota students flock here daily. The cozy atmosphere is complemented by sassy service that adds to the experience.
Al’s is a vibe. I go super early in the morning to avoid the crowd. I usually get the Jose but the scrambled egg and cheese is awesome. I love this place. People are nice and it is a good atmosphere. The hash browns are cooked beautifully.
Jane C — Google review
Heard about Al's and finally got around to trying it. The inside is very narrow and there's only barstool seating. If people come in to wait, they will be standing directly behind you. The decor is quirky and it's definitely a unique dining experience. This isn't a good place for large parties or a long sit down meal. Overall I was underwhelmed by the food, breakfast was $30 for 2 people (we didn't even order drinks) and i found the portions small for the price and the food just average. Of course this place is an institution and you go for the quirkyness but the was food nothing special.

A Minneapolis classic. If you’re trying to go with any sort of group, go early on a week day. Otherwise, expect to wait and have those who are up to bat stand right behind you. It’s not a family friendly spot but it’s the grunge breakfast experience that everyone has to try at least once. The food is good, the workers are great, and the unique experience unmatched.
Mark E — Google review
Best breakfast in MN (seriously). Old fashioned and traditional with fun and different food options. The line is always long and out the door, but worth the wait. Staff is extremely attentive and friendly. We visit Al's every chance we get.

Stumbling into Al's Breakfast in Dinkytown I was greeted with a cardbox cutout sign informing me that this diner is cash only. My kind of place. I stood there for a while, waiting for a seat to free up. I didn't mind that at all, I just stood there a while looking around this tiny place. In the end I got seated and immediately got poured an honest cup of hot coffee. Black as midnight. I ordered up an omelette with toast, which I thoroughly enjoyed and got many refills on my coffee and chatted a bit with a stranger on my right hand side. Great no-nonsense atmosphere of a place that knows where it stands and does what it does and does it good. I quickly realised this ain't a place I could sit and daydream for too long, so I finished up and payed with a rustling bill. I'll be back one day, Al

Googled breakfast near UMN and Al’s popped up and it did not disappoint! Summer Special was fabulous and my husband couldn’t stop talking about the corned beef hash. Would definitely recommend!5/5

This little place has made many lists and won many awards, including a James Beard Award. So does it live up to the hype? You betcha. I ended up coming here twice during my last visit to Minneapolis, it was just that good. I normally don’t do breakfast but I had to try it and try it again. I was lucky, both times I came here there were seats available about 9:30 and 11:30 on a weekday but filled up quickly afterwards. The staff is wonderful and very welcoming, accommodating, and friendly. But hey this is Minnesota so what would you expect? The first time I was suggested to try the José (Poached eggs on Hashed Browns with Salsa and Cheddar Cheese) and that along with a side of sausage and some solid coffee made for a good breakfast. Add to that some good conversation and getting some local recommendations, especially for a good burger and everything was A-OK. I decided to stop by once more before I left town and got the Jose again (which is great with the large selection of hot sauces that they have) and this time added a short stack of buttermilk flapjacks with blackberries and chocolate chip, OMG soo good! A must visit and worth the wait.

**This place is CASH ONLY** A super unique experience, the food was good, but wish AI had known cash was required, I read reviews and never saw it mentioned. We ran to the Target over a block and got cash back, but lost our spot in line and had to wait probably 20 minutes to be seated (only 14 seats in the restaurant). Loved hearing a bit about the history while we ate. The pancakes and salsa scramble were delish! Docking 1 star because who does take electronic payments in 2024?

Brasa Premium Rotisserie in St. Paul is a laid-back eatery that serves up slow-cooked, Creole-style comfort food with options for vegetarians and those who are gluten-free. The menu features a variety of Southern, Caribbean, and Mexican flavors using local, organic, and fair-trade ingredients.
Came here with two of my Vegetarian friends last night. Not only did they have plenty to eat and a wealthy variety to choose from but we all loved what we ordered! There's so much flavor in everything. I got an extra side of green sauce for my roasted pork bowl and it added so many new dimensions to the dish. The meat is perfectly tender and beautifully marinated. The rice was nice and fluffy, and the runny egg was the perfect addition! Also, as a sidenote for visitors--tips are accepted but not required as they pay their employees a fair wage and include benefits. See the last picture for more info.

The service here was fantastic. Music in the background was enjoyable. My food was delicious. I really liked the green sauce.. I would say the cornbread was a little dry but otherwise I have no complaints and hope to be back sometime! Thank you for the delicious meal and kind service.

Very good food. Service was lovely, menu was understandable and represented the items well I.E. I knew what I was getting. Little on the expensive side but for what you get I think it's work it. Corn bread was very good. Good part of town

I ordered the pulled pork bowl which was $16.95 but as you can see in the picture the pulled pork was pretty much non-existent....😬 The hot pepper vinegar was really good though 😀 Also, when I'm dining at a restaurant with my family I don't want to be bombarded with political agendas or sexual ideology especially when I have my 5.5 year old with me. My wife enjoyed her rotisserie chicken sandwich. My son's yellow rice was good as well. My biggest complaint was that I had a few tiny strands of pulled pork and of course this crap displayed at my table....
Steve B — Google review
This restaurant was suggest by a local, we did not read any reviews, our mistake Both my wife and I got the 2 pc chicken which is marinated for 24 hours. Two pieces had some flavor the other two were tasteless, hard to believe they were marinated for 24 hours. Some observations: 1. Two pieces of chicken in most restaurants usually means either a breast with a wing or thigh and leg. My two pieces were 1/4 of a breast with a leg and my wife got 1/3 a breast and a very small thigh. The white meat was overcooked to desert dry while the dark meat was just overcooked. 2. The coleslaw comes in a small cup, maybe 3 forkfuls. The creamy spinach side, was a decent size bowl of spinach in what tasted like cream soup from a can that had been water down. Runny and wet, not creamy and smooth. 3. Service was bad. The waiter took our order and brought our food and then the check. No checking in on how things were going. I flagged down another waiter for water refills. Our waiter looked like he was playing on his phone. When I asked about portion sizes when he brought the bill, he just shook his head and said nothing. This restaurant could easily be counter service, not surewhat class of restaurant they are trying to be, full service, fast casual or inventing something new. 4. When back at our hotel, I read information about this local chain and found out tips are included in the price of the food and they pay fair wages to their employees plus benefits. The tips are not expected and built into the price and this is mentioned in small print on the lower right corner of the menu. I applaud this company for the way they treat their employees and I would have this is large print somewhere more prominent on the menu and maybe put some asterisks on the prices to let customers know. Initially, when I left, and thought about what paid with tip, I felt like this was way too expensive for what you get. Understanding the price philosophy (and not tipping) would have made it better in relationship to value, but still on the high side. I was visiting from out of town and while St Paul is a great town, we will probably never be back, but I wanted potential customers to know our experience.
Mike B — Google review
The food had really good spice and flavor. I suggest getting both the green and red sauces to mix the flavor of the green with the spice of the red. I got the 2 piece chicken with fried plantains. This place does fried plantains right (not dry at all) The sauces were great on the plantains also (spicy + sweet). Most of the menu is Gluten Free. Brasa definitely deserves a return visit!

Fantastic Food and Top-Notch Service at Brasa I had a wonderful experience dining at Brasa. The service was excellent—attentive, kind, and well-paced throughout the meal. I ordered the roasted pork bowl, and it was absolutely flavorful. The pork, rice, and egg were all seasoned beautifully and offered a great mix of textures—hearty, tender, and perfectly balanced. We also tried the fried fish sandwich, which was amazing. The fish was incredibly fresh with a crisp, light breading that let the flavor shine through. One of the best fish sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. Brasa nails both flavor and presentation, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Highly recommend if you're looking for a meal that delivers on all fronts. The menu is well thought out and has incredible variance for such limited proteins. Limited proteins is pro since everything is so fresh.

Google recommended this place so I decided to give it a try. It was kind of a long white to be seated but the service was great. The food was outstanding. They actually knew how to make eggs over medium and not come out with hard yolks. Great experience overall. Definitely would be pleased to return

Simple, tasty, can't go wrong. My partner and I made a reservation just in case it was busy. Service was prompt, and all staff at the time were beyond kind and welcoming. I felt as though the portion sizes matched the pricing - we both ordered one main breakfast meal, and we both took a bit of it home. (We had both gotten a form of the two brother's breakfast option) Decor was cozy and clean. The menu was nice, easy to digest, tasteful variety without being too much.

My friend and I really enjoyed this breakfast spot! We tried the chicken fried steak, meat waffle, beignets, and pineapple nojitos. The chicken fried steak was a standout—the best I’ve had—crispy on the outside with flavorful gravy on top. The meat waffle was unique and fun to try; we liked it with syrup at first, though it did get a little heavy as we kept eating. Still, it’s worth experiencing at least once. The drinks were refreshing, though slightly watered down and lacking a stronger pineapple flavor. The beignets weren’t my favorite—they were more like a light, airy pastry than true beignets. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back. Tip: Make a reservation, even if you live nearby—it gets busy!

Very delicious cinnamon pecan roll and chocolate croissant. I really enjoyed their Pumpkin Spice latte too! Worth a try if you’re in the mood for breakfast croissants and coffee. A cute and busy cafe. The croissants are delicious, if I could recommend all of them, I would. A must try if you go in. They also have sandwiches (both breakfast and lunch) and salads. The coffee is very sweet, maybe ask for less than the normal amount of syrup flavoring.

Loved place as soon as I walked in. The wait staff was very helpful and informative being my first time there. My food was excellent and my drink was better then I thought it would be. I'll definitely be coming back when I'm in that neighborhood.
Jay L — Google review
The food of this place is incredible, but my whole reason of leaving a review is because they have to do something about their line situation. There are 2 doors that come in and feed to multiple registers. One of the registers you don’t even get to see the pastries before you would order and pay, so you have to go to the pastry case and order and then fight your way back through the crowd just to pay, then go way down to get coffee. People also don’t know how lines work, so it just turns into a chaotic mosh pit of line cutting. It feels like just one line that goes past the deli and pastries and ends by the coffee would keep things much cleaner.
Gabe D — Google review
The pastries and the latte were really good! I would definitely go back, but maybe at another time other than a Sunday morning. They were extremely busy. I had actually placed my order online, and took me about fifteen minutes to get there. When I arrived, I had to wait an additional 10-15 min for my latte to be made, so there wasn’t really a point for me to order online. I probably would have gotten my coffee and pastries at the same time as if I had waited online.

Mickey's Diner By Willy, a 24/7 restaurant designed to resemble a train dining car, has been serving traditional American dishes since 1939. Tucked away on West 7th Street, this retro-style eatery often goes unnoticed by tourists. However, locals know it as an iconic spot in the Twin Cities that offers affordable prices and mouthwatering hashbrowns that will leave a lasting impression.
I was driving to Famous Dave’s, it was closed and went to Mickeys. Honestly, I was flabbergasted on how great the food was. Pancakes were super tasty, the omelet was fluffy and cooked to perfect. Crispy Bacon!!!! 10/10 will be coming back again!

Loved this sign. Cook was socialable, place was clean. Food was tasty and grateful for no added salt. Prefer a little less butter/ oil on hashbrowns as the left overs didn't warm up well. Glad to hear the downtown location has been reopened.

I’ve been coming here several times a year for years, I live close by. I get a variety of things but my favorite used to be the fried chicken melt. Used to be. It used to be as described, a “jumbo chicken breast”, it was thick, juicy and delicious… it is now a frozen chicken patty, just like you used to get in a school lunch. And it is not worth $15.

We visited on our way into the cities for a day of fun. Since this location is open 24 hours, on 7th St SW, we were four of just a few diners. The staff, one man, was super quick to refill drinks, cook our food and just make our experience extremely pleasant. The atmosphere is definitely that of an old school, small diner. It's nothing flashy, but worth the price point. Our food was well prepared and we all enjoyed! We had the French toast, pancakes, over easy eggs, hashbrowns and chicken melt sandwich. Each of us tried a bite of everything and had no complaints. Highly recommend for your casual dining experience.

24 hour old school diner right off of West 7th that has been a staple of the community for decades. I love stopping here at 2-4am for some late night breakfast with fresh orange juice or a slamming burger and fries with a malt shake. This is Saint Paul's only 24 hour diner, the Waffle House of Saint Paul minus the "waffle house drama". 10/10 every time

Really quite good. A very small diner, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. But people move through quickly. In many diners, everything tastes adequate but unremarkable. This place is different. Even though I ordered breakfast basics, everything was so perfectly cooked that my meal was amazing. The eggs were over-easy perfection, the pancakes had flavor without being heavy, the hashed browns tasted like they were made in-house from boiled potatoes, and were deliciously crisped. And the bacon was beef, which I've never had before, and was very good. I'll definitely be back to this place.

Came in to grab some lunch before heading out of town and was very impressed by the chicken sandwich I got. The sandwich came out fairly fast it was extra crispy and had exactly what I needed. You'll be very satisfied with the fries as well which I believe are hand cut. Everything was clean and neat, that being said if you would have let me in that dessert case I don't think there would have been much left. Had an excellent experience as a first-time customer this diner. I'll definitely be back The food was very good and the prices are very reasonable. Both of the staff were friendly and on their game you didn't have to ask for refills or anything.

Pretty standard looking neighborhood coffee shop. It kept us coming back here for several times since we were visiting from out of town. I've had their espresso tonic, cappuccino, and latte. They're all good. Their food is delicious, I love their vegan avocado toast and tofu scramble. My friend said he liked their breakfast sandwich and even ordered one to take on our flight home. Would recommend if you live in this area especially their food offerings if you've only tried their coffee. The portions are good too

The food was good! However we didn’t have the greatest service experience. As a group of 7 people we didn’t get our drinks or food at a similar time. We unfortunately experienced a waiting period between getting drinks of 5min and 10min between each dish was served. That made eating together hard because some food was already cold when served. In addition, some orders were forgotten because they apparently didn’t go through into the kitchen. No one of the servers realized until we asked where the missing items were. They then offered a refund and free muffin at the very end. That was a not so great experience. What added to the experience was the cold temperature, which didn’t invite us to stay longer unfortunately. If you’re less people and dress appropriately, this place would be cute and offers good brunch food.

I came here with my husband today and we had a nice experience. I got a lemon cheesecake, cupcake because the options were pretty limited on cupcakes for the day. It was good. I enjoyed it. I got a jasmine lemonade and it was very natural and tasted really great. My husband got an ice latte and he liked it as well. Overall, everything was all right for the most part. I don’t think the lemon cheesecake tasted much like cheesecake though. The service was also nice. There is a decent sized line and wait. Which is fine, but the line is very close to a lot of seating areas which makes it kind of uncomfortable. I did notice as pictured below that there was a separate dining area as well.

This was the first coffee shop I visited after moving to MSP, and it’s quickly become one of my go-to spots. My favorites are the grilled cheese with turkey, coffee, banana bread, loaded sweet potatoes, and the banana bread French toast—all delicious! Nicely decorated cafe that is extremely busy. There was a short line at the counter when I arrived, but by the time I left the line was to the door and it was so loud I couldn't hear the person sitting across the table from me. It was hard to find an open table and I was there around 9 am on a weekday. I loved that they offered vegan options, though there was only one vegan bakery item the day I was there and it did seem to be very popular with customers. I absolutely enjoyed my chai latte which was foamy and a little spicy, which made it a unique drink compared to when I have ordered it at different cafes.

The biscuits and gravy are delicious! My husband ordered the banana bread french toast, which was also scrumptious. You can get it with or without chocolate ganache. The chairs aren't super comfortable and they have very limited outside seating, which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars. The food, coffee and tea are delicious. It's a great local spot, and we love local.

Finally, a place that doesn’t give just melons! It was a nice mix of orange slices, strawberries, bananas and blueberries. Very well worth the cost! Highly recommend it! We were full and the server was amazing as well as the food!

It was my first time here and quite happy with the experience. I wanted to keep it simple and ordered the Fried egg, Fresh Tomato, and Feta breakfast sandwich. Loved that it came with a couple of orange slices. The egg was fried medium so there was some yolk to dip the bread in. The staff were very courteous and did not rush us out of our booth since there were not any diners waiting for a table. The wifi has adequate speed if you bring your work laptop along. Many thanks!

I had the pleasure of enjoying an exceptional breakfast—bacon and avocado Benedict—that surpassed all expectations. Having tried countless variations of eggs Benedict over the years, I can confidently say this was the finest I’ve ever had. I rarely give out 5-star reviews, but this experience truly deserves it. From presentation to flavor, every detail was outstanding. Well done to the team!

The chai was great, not overly sweet like some places can be. I ordered a slice of the coffee cake and it was massive, enough for two people, or in my case, one heavily pregnant lady. The servers were all great. I recommend this breakfast spot if you’re in the area!

The service was great, they have outside seating but it was starting to thunder so we chose to wait for an inside seat. We only had to wait to wait about 10 minutes when they quoted 20, they have a nice bench to sit on while we waited and sent a text when our table was ready.

My favorite neighborhood spot. Everything is from scratch. The biscuits and pancakes actually are colossal with homemade jams. Friendly attentive staff. Inventive coffee drinks. Try the Miso Maple Latte. Salads and bowls are fresh. Portions are enough for lunch the next day. There is also bar seating if you want to eat as a single. Great place to bring guests in town.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Northeast Minneapolis, Ideal Diner is a charming eatery that has been delighting patrons since its establishment in 1949. This compact landmark offers a delightful selection of traditional breakfasts, sandwiches, and burgers served daily from 6 am to 2 pm. With just 14 stools at the bar counter, it exudes an intimate atmosphere where locals gather to enjoy hearty portions at affordable prices.
I’m not in NE Minneapolis often so was surprised to find this hole in the wall spot that’s been open for business since 1949. A breakfast and lunch only diner. I loved the back in the day decor. Very clean place with bar stool seating in a shotgun style arrangement. The entire open kitchen is right there in front of you. Staff was super friendly. I ordered steak and eggs for breakfast and it was very good. The prices on the menu is very desirable not expensive as in other places I’ve been. This is definitely a place you want to go out of your way to visit. I’ll be back for sure.

I have driven by this place many times and wanted to go in.Finally was able to what a great experience. When you walk in you can see the place is busy. Each seat at the both was filled and 6 people were waiting. The waitress hands, you a menu and says order. Now, it's how you save your seat. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito, and I ordered a rodeo burger. When we grabbed our seats, it was only minutes later that our food was put in front of us. That's quite an experience watching the chef, manage all the orders was great time.Management skills cooking on a cleaned and hot flat top. 3 front end staff managed everything very well. Even all the Chico orders walking in the door and heading out. It was a bit of a wait for the food but worth every minute of it. Not bad, considering the small space and the quality of food and how busy it was.

Have had this on my list for years and finally made it, and the Ideal Diner didn't let us down Love the old school diner feel, and it is a true greasy spoon type of place. Service was amazing, and the food was great. So much so that I forgot to take a picture. I was so excited to dig in. Perfect excuse to go back. Small place, so be prepared to wait a little, but honestly, it went rather quick.

I don’t admit FOOD is really good, unless it is…and the food here is AMAZING! There were a LOT of people however, very cramped, barely any seats, it was hot on the left side of the restaurant, and you can’t eat except at the counter. So in order to get served, you have to order & wait on stools until there’s a spot for you. When your spot opens up that’s when they start cooking your food. LARGE portions, prices were great, small cups for soda (not sure refills are free), yet they needed more than one person trying to cook, & more than two ladies serving as they seemed super stressed & one hade a ‘tude! Was served on the right side of the restaurant and it was way cooler over there thank goodness. I didn’t like that they put my silverware directly on the counter (not sanitary), would be better if they put them on a napkin or wrapped them in one. There are NO bathrooms or ways to wash your hands so use a bathroom before & bring sanitizer. The decor is great, yet for the amount of people it would be even better if they open a small dining area with booths, especially for people who are handicapped! The food was worth everything else though, will recommend yet maybe try earlier in the morning or during the week as it was super busy on a Saturday around 12:30pm.

Very old days dinner. Love the atmosphere anf the music, kind of a nostalgic vibe. The place has been there gor 75 years. More regular customers, but you are welcome if you are new they treat you like old friends. Love it!

amazing!!!!! the sandwich was so simple yet so flavorful and delicious, and the tater tots were so crispy— the best tatee tots I've ever had methinks. a tiny little place always with a wait, but it's worth it!

We came to Ideal diner with low expectations because of its size. Boy were we surprised the atmosphere was akin to going home to a family sit down, I am ashamed to say the food was better, without all the family drama lol:) this diner in my opinion is so much more than meets the eye. Thank you Ideal diner for making dor a memorable experience every time!
Sam J — Google review
Outstanding breakfast food, best pancakes we've ever had. The photos show plate-sized pancakes --which is accurate --but they are quite thin, a double stack would probably be equivalent to one traditional cake. They are so sweet, they don't even need syrup. This place is very popular (for good reason) so expect to wait, especially if you are bringing more than 2. Our twosome arrived at 7 on a Sunday and sat behind other customers for about 10 minutes before a couple stools opened up. The cook and waitress put on a symphony of service, cannot wait to visit again!

Nestled just a street away from High Bridge Dog Park and the Mississippi River, Claddagh Coffee is a charming and inviting coffee spot in the Twin Cities. Founded by local owner Mary Hogan-Bard, this cozy brick-walled cafe offers an array of classic espresso drinks, panini, and delectable baked goods.
Always prefer local coffee shops than these chains and most often than not, they make better coffee and the atmosphere is better. It's quite busy when we got here but we found a table. My go-to when I get coffee out is latte. (Wish I could find Turkish coffee somewhere but I'm not that lucky). The location is great and I'll definitely be back when it's warmer to explore the area.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Their specialty drinks are really good, and their pumpkin bread is some of the best I’ve had. Amazing staff, and their seating is a bit tight at a busy time, but their downstairs is super cool too! Great for stopping in for morning coffee, getting some work done, or meeting up with a friend!
Arlo M — Google review
Hands down my new favorite coffee shop in the Twin Cities. I loved the vibe especially on a rainy day last week but this review is also weighted heavily on one of their specials which was an orange chai. First of all, I love chai but there are very few places that actually make it how I like it. This place made it exactly how I think it should be made! It was a little creamy, not too spicey, not watered down and the orange flavoring which I didn't even know would pair so well with a chai was heavenly! I imagine their regular chai and other drinks are just as good. Their scones with the little sides of jelly and such also looked divine. I'll definitely be back here soon. Keep up the good work Claddagh Coffee!

Simply amazing! Visiting from out of town. I got the classic Claddagh Latte which is Irish Cream & Dark Chocolate. I got Almond Milk in mine. This place currently has Almond Milk and Oat Milk as nondairy options. The person I went with tried their pumpkin bread and cardamom and vanilla Irish Soda and said they were both 5/5. Hip and clean inside. Indoor and outdoor seating available (at least this time a year) and a downstairs area as well. Loved it and glad we made the stop! 🫶☕️🇮🇪

A nice and cozy coffee shop that is very conveniently located on West 7th. They have a lot of different coffee based drinks that look scrumptious. Unfortunately, when I was there, the menu was all blank leading to confusion over what cost what. You probably want to know what your coffee is going to cost before you order it? It is awkward asking the barista what your drink will cost if the menu doesn't mention anything. The basement area is super cozy but if someone is on a call, you will definitely hear their call. Lastly, I couldn't get the WiFi to work so I couldn't really get much work done. Overall a very nice little coffee shop!

I love this place. It came highly recommended by coworkers. They have great original coffee recipes and a very small but delicious food menu. I like the Hot Molly and the salad is scrumptious! Upstairs is cozy with large windows near the front door. It also has a charming basement with a couch and a cozy vibe that would be great for working, studying or just hanging out.

Breakfast burrito. Your diner is my spirit animal. You are the watchers of souls, who have witnessed and assimilated what satiates us. Your burrito satisfies something...old. Something ancient, within all of us. Your breakfast burrito isn't just a good burrito. Its not just a good meal. Its an homage to the past, and the present, of the profound significance of food. We do not wish to survive. We wish to thrive. Thats how I feel when I eat your entire, gigantic, breakfast burrito; refusing to share a morsel. Never change. And also always order the additional grilled onions and bell peppers.

I haven't been here in a while and have been aiming to go, but every time I think about it it is already 1:30 or 2 pm and they close at 3 everyday. So I decided to make it my mission to go here for Mother's Day. We still got here after 1, but there were plenty of seats available. Amongst 3 of us, we got a salad, an omelet, a burger and sodas for $57. The food was good and plenty; maybe not as much as they used to serve though. And the prices are higher than before, but that's to be expected; they are at a comparable rate. They serve breakfast and lunch and they have some specialty dishes. They also sell cake, pie, cookies, and fruit. So for your next outing, I'd suggest you try this place, if you haven't already.

I love the food here and when I dine in the place is amazing! But every time I order for pick up half the order is missing. That's really the only thing these places needs to correct, otherwise great food great place.

What a lovely place to grab a late breakfast. We had been here numerous times when it was previously the Copperdome. The update to the room, opening it up, and the lightening up is an improvement. I'm glad they appear to have kept a lot of the old decor, too. The food was fantastic and the service was so kind and friendly. They appear to be doing a brisk takeout business also. Their portion sizes are huge, and we had enough leftover for dinner as well. They also have some spectacular garlic chive cheese curds, and being from Wisconsin, I'm definitely a connoisseur. We got the giant cinnamon roll, and it was as big as my head. The frosting is heavy on the cream cheese, so if you have a sweet tooth, just be ready for that. We got the chocolate chip three stack pancakes with whipped cream, sides of bacon, and sausage patties. The patties are huge, almost like a half pound burger, and taste delicious. An everything omelet and the ranchers breakfast consisting of two eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and an English muffin rounded out our meal. Coffee was refilled promptly, and everything was delivered hot and quickly. Strong recommendation on a visit. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the giant cinnamon roll!

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than Cafe Racer Kitchen. This charming eatery offers a cozy atmosphere with just eight tables and an inviting patio, perfect for enjoying their Latin-inspired brunch and tapas. The menu features mouthwatering options like queso arepas, veggie hash, and unique takes on classic dishes such as the Aborajado Benedict—an exciting fusion of American breakfast favorites with Colombian flair.
Amazing food and presentation. Liked the Arepas. Tons of vegetarian options. Yummy Yucca fries. They have fresh baked items like scones in a case. There is patio seating for warmer weather. I found a good number of traditional breakfast items like pancakes on the menu. You order at the counter.

This is a cute and small restaurant that does offer 8 tables, a bathroom, and a water station. The portions are small. I ordered the queso arepa and I highly recommend it. I ordered the veggie tray with a side of rice and beans with yucca fries. The yucca fries were a bit too hard to eat/enjoy. I also tried their mimosa which was delicious. There are nonalcoholic beverages as well. I had the flan for dessert which was not your traditional flan. I enjoyed it. I realized I’m just used to Mexican style flan.
Rip P — Google review
Really enjoyed a lazy Saturday morning here. The music and ambiance of the café really makes you feel welcomed and relaxed as soon as you walk in. The food was delicious and well portioned. Filling yet not too much for a well-balanced meal. The arepas had a really nice sweetness that complimented the savory toppings well. The coffee was really good too. Overall, a nice neighborhood joint that I look forward to returning to.

Buddy of mine recommended Cafe Racer as he and some of my other friend form college live right nearby. It was worth the trek across the city as the food and outdoor seating lent to a relaxing afternoon lunch with friends. The arepas and vegetarian options looked delicious but a couple of us stuck with a relatively tame option of the Colombian street dog which was super flavorful. Will definitely be back again.

Absolutely delightful! I think of it as a fusion breakfast and south american cuisine. Brought my friends along and everyone loved it. Service was quick. They do not have reservations but almost all the tables were occupied when we went. Food was delicious. Wonderful swirl of flavors and textures. Just works so well with each other. Prices were very reasonable. Odd location, but definitely coming here again.

Nowhere are there any racers so I just don't understand it. But yes there is a cafe here and the cafe does the cafe part of the name very well - the food part, the drink part, the being a cafe part. All of that very good. Especially the food. The food is excellent. But really no racers and I'm just like hey what's going on here what are we trying to pull? My leg? Pork?
Zach P — Google review
The yucca fries, plantains, and pulled pork are delicious and what you would expect from a SA restaurant. The Colombian arepas were tasty. I enjoyed the Aborajado Benedict which was a nice blend of an American classic with arepas, sweet plantains, and sausage. Would recommend for something different and hardy. Very celiac/gluten free friendly!

Nestled in the charming Longfellow neighborhood, Fireroast Coffee & Wine Bar is a delightful gathering spot that embodies the essence of community. Whether you're starting your morning with a cortado and breakfast sandwich or enjoying a midday pick-me-up with a brownie bite paired with cafe au lait, there's something for everyone.
No idea how I haven’t been here until now. The food. The drinks. The atmosphere. The staff. All 10/10. I had a Carmel latte with homeade syrup (my fav) and a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The sandwich was huge and filling. All of the food coming out of the kitchen looked so good I wanted to try one of everything. The staff were so friendly and it was the perfect environment to get work done while also getting some sunshine from the bright windows in front! Free street parking out front and free wifi. Their coffee is so good!! I tried one of their seasonal specials, the iced orange blossom black cardamom latte and I loved it! It was perfectly sweet and really well balanced with the espresso. Inside there’s a good amount of seating and free WiFi to work. Everyone was so friendly and street parking was very easy to find. I’d love to come back and try their food and bakery items!

Excellent smooth, creamy all way thru (!!) hot latte, Rosemary White Choc Carmel Iced Latte balanced, not chemical-tasting, both depth of flavor no bitterness. Lots of food options all day -- waffles, too! Ambiance is welcoming, cozy not crowded, clean, lots of plants, natural light, seating options...non-accessible front entry, large, roomy patio (accessible entrance there?), easy parking, quiet streets. Highly recommend!!

What a fantastic neighborhood coffee shop and eatery! I ordered a lavender latte made with house-made lavender syrup, paired with a breakfast quesadilla - breakfast options are served all day. The menu is straightforward, offering homemade soups, salads, burritos, wraps and sandwiches. If I had to choose a word or two to describe the food offerings, it would be QUALITY INGREDIENTS. The bakery case is filled with tempting pastries, from scones to coconut macarons, including gluten-free options. They also offer a selection of wine and local beers, along with drinks like kombucha and coconut water, house made lemonade and teas and of course, espresso-based drinks with a few house espresso based specialty drinks like an orange blossom latte. The quality of the coffee and espresso is excellent—it's fair trade, carbon negative, and truly embodies the F.R.C. ethos: Fresh, Local, Independent, with a "tiny footprint." The café also supports local artists, featuring a monthly rotating exhibit on the walls, with pieces available for purchase directly from the baristas. They offer a great selection of merch, including t-shirts, coffee mugs, and retail coffee, house made granola as well as artisan-made candles and earrings from locals. The seasonal patio is a delightful spot to enjoy your meal, play a little foosball, or just relax. The staff is warm and welcoming, making this Longfellow neighborhood treasure a must-visit. Five stars for this inclusive gem!

Ugh - Went to this coffee shop for the first time since there was a little art fair set up in front biggest mistake. 1. The set up makes it hard to see the menu. 2. There were people in line who were ordering before me (including 2 kids). 3. The specialty lattes have no description on the board, you can see the ingredients only on the flyer in front of the cash register. Went up to order and asked the owner/cashier (won't say barista because I didn't see him making any drinks) what was in the Thai Coffee and Northshore Fog Tea Latte. He explained them thoroughly, however when I asked for the Northshore Fog iced, things went downhill. He snapped back that this drink couldn't be iced. Okay, I asked for a different recommendation and in a snippy tone (see the pattern?) he said "I recommend them ALL CAUSE THEY'RE ALL MY RECIPES". I asked if I could get a different tea latte iced at which point he snipped back (as if it's common knowledge, although it's not written anywhere on the menu) that none of the tea lattes could be iced. He then turned away from me and started doing something else with a barista. The other barista looked at me and looked confused because I was still placing my order but continued to do the task that was asked of them by the cashier. Eventually the cashier acknowledged me and I order a lemonade and iced herbal tea (not latte). The drinks were both bad - lemonade worse than the iced tea. Not sure what the cashier's problem is but once interacted with, the whole place feels unwelcoming. Won't be coming back, there are other coffee shops with nicer owners who won't snap when you ask for recommendations or an iced drink.

The atmosphere at Fireroast is amazing. They've done a phenomenal job of decorating and creating spaces to enjoy their food and coffee. The service was on par and the food was pretty good. Their latte was delicious. However, their atmosphere and ability to create spaces for people to meet and enjoy coffee and a meal are what sets Fireroast apart from other places. Enjoy!
David S — Google review
Ordered a lemonade — had a weird taste to it almost as if it was spiced (no indication of this being intentional on the menu or by the owner who took the order). As I was waiting for my drink, I witnessed the owner be rude to an elderly lady who had either been given the wrong drink or grabbed the wrong drink. Lady went up to the counter where the owner was cashiering and must have said something to the effect of her order being incorrect and her drink tasting weird (couldn’t hear her). Owner responded (loudly, could hear clearly) something like “oh you grabbed the wrong drink. customers are always grabbing the wrong drink” in a very annoyed tone. A barista quickly poured her an ice tea and handed it to the owner/cashier to hand to the customer. I’m not sure what the older lady said but the response of the owner was, “no, you take that. It’s what you wanted.” Is it annoying when customers don’t pay attention and grab the wrong drink? Yes. Is it appropriate for an owner to be so aggressive and rude in their response when the customer isn’t being rude first. No. There are plenty of coffee shops around with better drinks and vibes. I’d recommend going to any of those.

Burger Dive on Bay Street is a cozy spot that offers a variety of American eats, including breakfast and burgers, as well as cocktails. Located in a historically blue-collar neighborhood, it brings back the tradition of dive bar breakfasts with a hearty selection that includes a fantastic breakfast burger. The menu also features dinner-plate sized pancakes, kids' options, and perfectly prepared eggs with all the fixings.
If you're looking for a cozy little dive bar, this is it. The drinks we're reasonably priced as was the food, and both were good. I love that they have spooky options for Halloween right now and even mentioned something coming up for Thanksgiving before we left. I loved my PBJ burger and can't wait to come back for a nice night of a couple drinks, some apps, and good conversation in the future!

I met colleges here for our burger club meeting. We each got something Different and an assortment of sides and appetizers. All in all, everything was above average. Portions were decent. Food came quick. The perogis, deviled eggs, and mushrooms were excellent, and the cheese curds were okay. The onion burger was 4/5. It was good, but needed something extra to push it to true excellence.

Rose Street Patisserie is a modern cafe located at the lively corner of Selby and Snelling, offering a wide array of French pastries created by renowned chef John Kraus. The display case showcases an exquisite selection of eclairs, macarons, lemon tarts, and more. In addition to desserts, they also serve brunch dishes such as caramelized onion quiche lorraine and BLT sandwiches made with Parisienne baguettes.
Great tarts. This place is good all around. The pastries are aesthetically pleasing and very very tasty… I have yet to find a place in mn with better tarts. Their bread is also good but not on the same level as their pastries. Sometimes the crumb is not perfect and the crust is not as developed as it should be but still a great loaf nonetheless. I didn’t take anything away for this because I know that might be some people’s preference. They have ice cream too I think but I’m not sure how good it is. However their monkey bread and croissants need work. They were very dry and felt old. The chocolate in the chocolate croissant was also poor. Customer service is always world-class and easy. Parking can take a sec when busy but just go down one of the side streets and walk for a sec and you’ll be fine. There’s also this really small parking lot that im not sure if they own but its tucked away and often full.

If my review helps you give it a 👍. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Stopped by Rose Street Patisserie expecting an authentic French experience, like the tag line on the website said but I was left with mixed feelings. The Pros: The atmosphere was laid-back, and I loved how bright and open the café is. A nice spot to relax. There’s a wide variety of bake goods. I watched the beads just fly off the self! I will definitely go back to try the olive Sourdough. I kept eyeing it and had FOMO because by the time I left there was maybe only two baguettes left! the sourdough Challah and there was another bread was completely sold out! The Cons: The croissant to me is a classic French pastry. While the presentation was beautiful the exterior was flaky, crusty and covered in almond slices, the interior was dense and cake-like. My friend picked her croissant up and the top literally came off, exposing the cake texture. The almond flavoring was overpowering and I didn’t mind but it seemed like an attempt to compensate for the texture, making it feel more like a croissant-shaped cake than a true croissant. The Matcha with lavender and honey sounded great but lacked depth in flavor. It wasn’t super earthy but it wasn’t sweet either. All and all I will try another time I just will skip those two menu items.

After visiting Patina yesterday for some gift shopping, my sisters and I decided to stop into Rose Street Patisserie for some treats. For context, all three of us are visibly Black women. Upon entrance, staff looked at us glaringly but didn’t greet us, after a minute or so of standing there, we still hadn’t been spoken to. Not a “I’ll be with you in a moment” or “Let me know if you need anything”, nothing. So knowing that my money is just as green as the next persons, I encouraged my sisters we leave. We ended up at Yum! Bakery where we had an incredibly kind experience. Interestingly enough, as we left Rose Street Patisserie, another black woman walked in, and she also ended up walking out empty handed and across the street to Yum! Very gross experience, won’t be back and will not longer be patronizing by way of the co-op’s either. Shame on you.

I have a bit of an obsession with patisseries; I had researched places for my visit to Minnesota and originally came across Mark Heu Patisserie, but Rose Street was also mentioned. I couldn't decide so I went to both, and I have to say Rose Street is better. Mark Heu was beautiful (and James Beard awarded) but they were a little greasy. The flavors of Rose Street were just so luscious and decadent. They also have a sister company 'Patisserie 46' that I had not tried while I was visiting, but it'll be on my To-Go list for next time! We tried: Lemon Tart petit - "This tart has vibrant citrus notes of lemon and lime perfectly balancing the delicately sweet sucré tart shells. Simplistic and yet a culinary delight for those who appreciate bright zesty flavors of citrus fruit." Raspberry Tart Petit - "Delicately sweet almond cream and vanilla pastry cream bedded in a crisp sucré tart shell topped with fresh raspberries and lychee jellies." Lucia Petit - "Smooth, velvety dark chocolate mousse with moist and airy chocolate sponge cake and delicate vanilla cream atop a crunchy base featuring toasted almonds and sweet praline finished with a creamy milk chocolate hazelnut glaçage." Isla - "Beautiful layers of jaconde sponge, zesty lime mousse and exotic gelee crowned with coconut chantilly and exotic fruit salsa." Chocolat -"Dark chocolate mousse, 72% ganache, flourless chocolate biscuit and chocolate hazelnut crumble." Blueberry Tart - "Crisp sucré tart shell filled with almond cream, vanilla pastry cream and blueberry + lemon verbena geleé crowned with fresh blueberries and fresh mint leaf." Ruby - "A delightful combination of fresh strawberries atop a pillow of white chocolate chantilly, strawberry geleé, almond sponge and sablé basque." Their specials vary each week, so their menu is not always the same, but I genuinely believe anything you order from this place will be just as delicious as another. If you're in the StP area, Rose Street Patisserie is a must.

Keys Cafe - The original is a long-standing diner chain known for its classic American fare and delectable desserts. The cafe has a nostalgic ambiance, making it a favorite spot for many. The breakfast menu offers mouthwatering options like Italian sausage with eggs and fluffy French toast with cream cheese butter spread. Visitors appreciate the personalized touch in their meals, as well as the friendly service from the staff, some of whom are family members of the founder.
Great menu!! Great variety of items!! Daily specials and delicious fresh bakery. They've received many awards, it's a must to visit. There's so many unique options as well as classic favorites, you'll have a hard time making up your mind😊. There's 4 kinds of Eggs Benedict alone!

This location is the original Keys Cafe, and it still has its retro-70s charm with countertop seating, wood paneling, and a small, cozy atmosphere. We go for the comfort food, like a wild rice omelette or blueberry pancakes. The service is generally quick with friendly staff to get you whatever you might need.

Key Cafe is the perfect spot for a cozy breakfast experience! The homestyle food and coffee are absolutely delightful, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They truly make you feel at home, refilling your coffee with care and serving up delicious sourdough toast paired with homemade jam. Every visit feels like a warm hug, and the atmosphere is just as inviting as the food. I absolutely love this charming cafe and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and satisfying breakfast!

Well i am very sad that I am giving a formal college fave a low rating but I'm trying to be as unbiased as possible despite all great memories we had here back in the day. Well although our server was nice she legit admitted that she forgot we were there hence we had to hunt someone down after sitting for over 20min looking at the menu. 😳 Now the food... The people who i with said their omelets were good but my breakfast sandwich that is picture was a whole other story. It was extremely dry, it lacked flavor and it was just not good. Very disappointed overall.

We’ve been to other Keys Café locations around town, so we decided to check out the original. We seated ourselves in the narrow bar area, which put us in pretty close quarters with the waitress. Naturally, breakfast wouldn’t be complete without pancakes, so I ordered some with blueberries and banana. While they arrived piping hot, the pancakes were denser than expected—not as fluffy as I hoped. I also tried the Benny with ham, which came recommended by our waitress. Unfortunately, the hollandaise sauce wasn’t to my taste—it leaned more on the sour side. The bacon was a bit tough, and the coffee was just okay—not great, but not bad either. One thing I noticed was that our waitress had a habit of handling our coffee cups by the rim instead of the handle, which felt a little too “hands-on” during our visit. Lastly, for those with dietary preferences, they only offer regular milk—no alternative options like oat milk, which I found out when I tried to order a Chai with oat milk. Understandable, but worth noting.

Keys Cafe is, in my view, a very Iconic breakfast joint. It has stood the test of time for a reason....absolutely amazing food. It's a casual cafe that has an old town classic feel. The waiter, Phillip, was what every waiter aspires to be. He was attentive but gave us our room to converse and enjoy the great grub. He was energetic but not overbearing, and he made perfect recommendations. We both got the number 4 with Italian sausage. I got 2 pancakes, and my wife got 2 french toast thanks to Phillip. Our food was brought out in a very timely manner. The american fries were delicious. Perfectly fried, so every bite was crispy. The eggs were cooked as we expected and were great to dip the potatoes in. The Italian sausage is and continues to be the GREATEST in Minnesota. Juicy, full of spicy flavor and large patties. The pancakes are fluffy and monsters in size. The French toast was sweet, paired nicely with butter and syrup. If you haven't eaten breakfast at this Minnesota legend, then what are you waiting for.

You want great, plentiful plates of freshly made food from breakfast to dinner dishes? Of course you do. The food is amazing and the service is fun and friendly. Not a frilly place, but the food and service are the stars! Prices are a bit above average and worth every penny!

The waitress was very polite and helpful with a charming smile. The ambiance was cozy and cute - with enough noise to make you feel you are in a social setting but not too much noise. As for the food, we were split: there were 6 of us, four people gave their food a 4 and 2 people gave it a 5. The Ranch breakfast was very good, the steak in it was super - delicious. The hash browns were under cooked.

Went for Sunday brunch—there was a bit of a wait (about 20 minutes) since it was busy, but it was worth it! The food was awesome, service was good, and the pricing was reasonable. Definitely coming back!

Had the roast beef hash and eggs and it was really great. Lots of peppers, onions and celery along with hash brown and tender roast beef. It never disappoints. My partner had the ribs and they were good as well. Definitely enjoy Keys and the bakery looks great, but we're usually too full to try it

What a great place for a meal. Service, food were great! Our waitress Tamera of 29 years did an outstanding job. The outside dinning looked fun but it looked like rain. Everything is homemade here. The bakery and desserts are awesome. Haven't been here for around 9 years. We're from a different state. Bring your appetite when you come.

Keys woodbury Turkey vegy soup- tender vegys, turkey is good Chili soup- very delicious, has spice to it, love the onions. Omlette vegy- very big, big veggies inside. Potatos, broccoli, carrots and more! Side salad- ceaser—- ok salad, also has black olives if you like olives. Very busy but did take some pictures. We noticed the menu items maybe a little different then others so we took pictures. Sorry the lighting wasnt all that good and the menu was old!! Waitress was awesome!! Instead of charging me for large chili and side ceaser she charged me for soup and salad meal and it came with a cookie which went to a child!!

I’ve been coming here for years and this place is a hit or miss, when it’s good it’s good but when it’s bad, it’s disgusting…don’t even waste your money here. Had an $80 order and the Philly cheese steak is flavorless, absolutely no flavor at, I ordered a Caesar salad and they didn’t send any dressing. The whole reason I ordered was because I need to go grocery shopping so I don’t even have dressing at home and had to pay for the salad. Also ordered a burger and the patty tastes like burnt meat, not even good when that’s all you can taste. I’ve gotten the chicken wild rice soup many times before and it’s usually thick, today it’s super watery and taste super sour and nasty. I always order big orders from this place but today will be my last. Super disappointed and then they wanna ask if you wanna leave a tip, for horrible customer service? Annoying as hell.

Food is absolutely incredible, never had a bad meal there. I've never had anything other than breakfast but everything me and my dad have tried have loved it. The portion sizes are large and you definitely get what you pay for. The staff are nice and on point with the service. I would suggest getting their early closer to when they open because they are always busy and you might have to wait for a seat. I personally have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes but from what I've heard it could be upwards of 15 depending on the time of day. Will definitely continue to go back and get food and baked goods from the bakery.

Little Oven is a cozy and unassuming restaurant that offers generous portions of pasta, pizza, and classic American breakfast dishes. The establishment is known for its hearty servings, with many patrons leaving with leftovers for the next day. The pizza is particularly popular, often being ordered for takeout due to its quality and value. Customers also praise the deep-fried breadsticks as a must-try item on the menu.
I have been going here all my life. It's a great little neighborhood joint. The pizza is amazing, and lasagna is the absolute best, the dago is great, the pizza fries can't be beat. They have very generous portions and reasonable prices. The menu is well rounded, so if you can find something you want, maybe it's just you.

A family friendly experience. Great food. Thanks to Lori. My favorite person that always helps me. I went there today for breakfast and I have to tell you, they give huge portions. Twice the hash browns than anywhere else. 2 huge pancakes. Most places are $8 now for 1 pancake. Huge eggs. What a full meal. All for under $16. It was great. Our waitress Gayle was great and pretty cute too. Wow service with a smile.

This was such a nice spot to get breakfast at and we knew it would be good given how packed it was with locals. We both enjoyed our dishes; I chose the Sicilian omelette and it was a banger let me tell you! The Italian sausage with onions, green peppers and that zesty marinara sauce had me in Sicilian heaven. Cinnamon swirl toast and hash browns were a great complement to the omelette. Service was awesome and prices were amazing for the portions received.

Went on Thursday burger night, and had the Pavarotti for $10.99 after tax. After a little bit of time being seated after a party of seventeen, the service was very quick, the waitress was very polite, and the burger was a very good deal. For this amount of food, I’d consider $16 to be a good deal. Much less this. The Italian sausage patty, the ground beef patty, and the pepperoni were a lot of meat for this price. This is what a “pizza burger” should be. The fries were fresh cut, and so hot out of the frier that I couldn’t eat them. They were excellent. I will be back to report on the more Italian parts of the menu, but I am genuinely impressed by the Little Oven.

First time trying Little Oven and I’m extremely disappointed. The parking lot was tiny and the inside was loud. I ordered their made fresh everyday "best pasta lasagna in Minnesota," but it turned out to be the worst lasagna I've ever had; it tasted as though it had been frozen for days before being reheated and served. The breadsticks tasted stale and hard. In the trash it went 🤢

Literally the best food I've had in a while. Super authentic, cozy and has a familiar almost home-like atmosphere. The waitress was one of the nicest ladies I have ever met, I truly felt welcomed. ALSO! Those were the BEST! breadsticks EVER.

A real neighborhood treasure! Menu has been shortened, but still worthwhile. Sunday eve pasta specials with green salad and breadsticks...$12-$15 or so, plus $3 glass of wine. What's not to love? And for many, these are meals for two days! So grateful that some of these small businesses still hang on!

Finnish Bistro Coffee & Cafe is a cozy, counter-serve restaurant offering a variety of Finnish and European dishes in a homely setting. Established in 2004, this charming spot provides an extensive menu featuring soups, sandwiches, baked goods, and traditional Finnish cuisine. Guests can also enjoy Scandinavian-inspired meals made with locally sourced ingredients on the beautiful outdoor patio where dogs are welcome. The cafe's pastry selection is particularly noteworthy, with rich almond-crescent cookies that are highly recommended.
What a gem! I loved this place. Very relaxing atmosphere with indoor or outdoor seating. Food was delicious with some unique choices. I had the Quiche with salmon & asparagus. Huge portion with a side salad included. I also had a cup of the tomato basil soup, very good. Brought home some pastries & dessert for my coworkers which they thoroughly enjoyed. My friends had the coconut chicken salad & the gyro which they said was very good. Everyone agreed they would come back again.

OMG! This place is amazing! I brought my parents here for the first time to experience a finish bistro. They're from a really small town and don't have something like this. We were able to look at the menus ahead of time, I went to the cashier to give our orders. The cashiers and all the employees were very kind! Two of us had the quiche: ham and cheese I think it was, and it was SOO delicious! It was huge too! I could have split it with my mom, but we each took half of ours home. My dad got this thing called meat pie , which is like some sort of hot dog on Wild rice, on hot dog buns? And then my husband got another meal. We enjoyed some tea, and picked up a few sweet treats for the ride home. I would definitely come here again, I would love to try more things on the menu. One of the bakery items that we wanted were out, but the employee said that we should try this lingonberry item instead, and we did, and it was great! I thought it was going to be super sour for some reason with lingonberries. But it really , all this food, opened my eyes, and I'm so appreciative that this business is in St paul. By the way, my parents aren't very mobile so this was an easy enough restaurant to get in and out of, there are no stairs. The bathroom, which I took photos of, to help with showing others how accessibile the bathrooms are. I wasn't able to share pictures of all of the menu, because Google limits me to 50 photos. But please enjoy all the pastries in the pictures . Pictures are from approximately September 22nd, 2025. , also! Don't forget to sign up for the rewards program!

Ordered Pulla french toast, Cinnamon roll, iced oat latte, rice porridge add berries, reindeer sausage to try. The food was all delicious. The reindeer sausage may be a touch over seasoned so you can’t taste much of the meat past the seasoning. Note the pulla french toast does not have any syrup but is covered in berries and berry sauce instead, but is still very tasty. There is a large variety of pastry options behind the counter. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner items can be ordered you just need to request a menu at the front. Establishment is clean and charmingly decorated for a good cafe ambiance as well as a patio outside when weather is warmer.

I thought the food was just okay. I got a sandwich (I forgot what it was called) that had sausage and ground meat. They ran out of the usual bread so they substituted with the one in the picture and I do like this with this bread. The portions are big. I just wish there was more of a condiment or something for it. It was a particularly dry dish. I put the heap of greens dressed in a pretty good dressing into the sandwich to help it along.
Thuy K — Google review
Came here on a Wednesday so there wasn’t a ton of people. Majority of the seats taken were people sitting down for a while studying, catching up with friends, and working. I just came for a lunch with my family and while it was my 1st time, it was my family’s 2nd time. The menu doesn’t have a lot of pictures but is simple enough to not be overwhelmed. I got a Meat Pie Dinner (Lihapiirakka), which I shared as it was bigger than I was expecting but was super super delicious. I got take out for a group of 10 people and the food was ready pretty quickly, easy to pick up, food was still warm when the containers were opened, and just as delicious as sitting down to eat at the restaurant. The whole restaurant’s ambience is very chill, and there are little details you can find throughout.
Xoom T — Google review
The butternut squash soup was tasty and the frosted cinnamon roll (they had several types of cinnamon rolls) was pretty good too. My friend had the pulla French toast with berries and loved it. It was very busy on a Sunday morning and the food took awhile, but that’s to be expected when it’s so full.

Nina's Coffee Cafe is a popular spot located in the Cathedral Hill area of Saint Paul, with another location in Stillwater. The cafe offers a cozy and airy atmosphere with brick-walled interiors and ample indoor seating, as well as a few outdoor tables. It's known for its light breakfast options, sandwiches, and a variety of coffee choices. The cafe has historical significance, being named after Nina Clifford, a prominent local figure from the early 1900s.
I enjoy the atmosphere of this lovely historic building; it’s quite lively inside with the food and beverage counters just inside the door. They offer a nice selection of pastries and sandwiches. Plan to go early in the morning if you want a fresh scone baked the same day. Day old scones were available - but they are always best if just out of the oven. Excellent coffee!

Nina’s is popular for a reason! It’s been on my list for forever and it lived up to expectations. It was packed on a Thursday morning, but there were still tables available since the interior is large. Nina’s is a perfect third space, with people working, studying, and chatting. The lattes had a strong expresso flavor and were delicious. They were on the sweeter side, but the menu was large.

Nina’s Coffee Café is a charming and cozy spot with a lot of character. The space has a warm, inviting feel — perfect for reading, catching up with a friend, or getting some work done. It’s clearly a neighborhood favorite, so it can get pretty busy, especially during peak hours, but that just adds to the lively atmosphere. The coffee is great, the pastries are solid, and the staff is friendly and efficient even when things are bustling. It’s the kind of café that makes you want to linger just a little longer.

I had the chance to check out Nina’s Coffee in St. Paul and this spot did not disappoint. It offers a decent amount of space with plenty of solid menu options to choose from. Although I’m not a coffee drinker, I fell in love with their breakfast burrito. It was packed with flavor and came with a delicious sauce to dip it in. Honestly, this might be one of the best breakfast burritos in the city for its price. The spot can get pretty busy, especially during the morning rush, but it’s definitely worth the stop. Parking-wise, it’s mostly street parking, and I don’t believe there’s a lot nearby, so plan ahead. Overall, the vibes here are great, the service is solid, and the food is well worth it. I’ll definitely be back.

Nestled near the banks of the Mississippi and just a short distance from downtown St. Paul, Joseph's Grill is a vibrant family-owned bar and grill that has been delighting locals for over 30 years. This welcoming establishment offers an extensive menu filled with classic American comfort food, including mouthwatering burgers and hearty breakfast options served all day long.
Joseph's reminds me of an east coast diner. Large selection of food items, good size portions, reasonable prices and fast service. The waitress was extremely helpful and seemed to enjoy her job. The food came out quickly and was very good. We were on our way to Wabasha Caves and this is a great place to grab a bite before a tour. Lots of locals having lunch with friends.

The pancakes were huge and the portion sizes were big. My coffee was great. The food quality however could have been better. My scrambled eggs had shell in them and they were very stale when they came out. The bacon was so crispy (burned) it should not have been served. The decor is very 1980s with too many TVs going. Overall it was okay.

My friend and I went here on a whim and to quote my friend "This was the best impulsive stop we've been to. I had the steak and eggs and the meal was under 20$. My friend had the Josephs Breakfast and she really enjoyed it! She said the bacon was some of the best she's ever had. The interior is warm and feels higher end. It looks like there are so many different great weekday deals and I am excited to try more from Joseph's Grill!

When you first walk in to Joseph's, you'll feel like you're walking into one of the nicer restaurants in St. Paul; That's because you are. I've personally been here many times throughout the years. The difference is it doesn't come with the super expensive price tag. Located a stones' throw from the mighty Mississippi and downtown St. Paul, Joseph's has a great and diverse menu that will suit even the most particular eaters. You'll find everything from upscale bar food to finer dishes, comfort food and everything in between. There is a dining room and a bar area as well as a patio and a back room for private events, all well tended by friendly staff. When you walk into Joseph's, you can be very confident that you'll have a great dining experience.

We were there for a recent family gathering. Our waitress was absolutely great, but the food was disgusting. My spouse had the meatloaf which looked more like gelatin holding it together. The potatoes had a strange taste. I had a cup of New England clam chowder which was OK. I'm still trying to figure out the pink tinge to it. I followed it up with tortellini. Unfortunately, the sauce almost tasted like the soup. And there were too many additives...like pepperoni and other chunks of meat. Keep the dish simple. This was the first time neither of us made a dent in our dish. i would have said something but our waitress was so busy with our group that i didn't want to add to the stress of dealing with us. She did do a great job. IF we return, we'll stick to the burgers...

We made the unfortunate choice to go to this restaurant on the same day as the Yacht Club Festival nearby. We'd reviewed the menu beforehand and chose many delicious options. Unfortunately, not one of the items we chose were on the menu. It appears they decided to greatly scale down their menu due to the festival. What was left on the menu was crappy bar food. I mean, really crappy bar food. The restaurant sure should have posted on their website that they had a limited menu this weekend. We would have made a different choice of restaurants. Our dishes were the most bland food we'd ever eaten. The bun on my slider was soggy. The fries appeared to have seasoning. But, alas, there was none. The coleslaw was drowning in mayo. They also put a wristband on us as we entered the restaurant. It was bizarre. We won't be back.

had been here several times and had great food and service. Was in on 6/27 and ordered the turkey, previously loved their turkey dinner. It was very disappointing. I questioned our server: she stated it was a new cook and started the turkey was remaining from an event. I wish we would have refused it but we did not. Do not plan to return in near future although I previously had good luck with the food and atmosphere. Seems to be a lot of new staff.

Legacy Chocolates is a local cafe and store that offers specialty coffee drinks and handmade chocolate confections. Located in the historic Pioneer Endicott Building, they are known for their chocolate truffles made from scratch using a smooth, rich ganache covering cacao ranging from 34% to 99% dark. Their specialties include Himalayan Salted Caramel, sweet Malvira, and the Double truffle.
Visited Legacy Chocolates in downtown St. Paul on a chilly day to enjoy a warm chai tea and a truffle. The chai tea was excellent, and the chocolate selection was remarkably diverse, offering a wide array of flavors.

I cannot recommend this place enough for not only chocolates but some of the best coffee around. Since they’re a chocolate shop, they have a custom mocha with their in house chocolate mix and it’s divine. And what’s insane is it’s more affordable than Caribou and Starbucks!

Hands down best coffee and truffles in downtown Saint Paul. The team working there is wonderful! Highly recommend.

Legacy Chocolates is a must-visit! Not only do they have fantastic truffles, but they also have great coffee, solid baked goods, and my favorite carrot cake of all time. I like how you can pick the percentage of cacao in your truffles. My personal favorite is the Himalayan Salt Caramel w/ 99% dark chocolate, but I'm consistently impressed with all their standard and limited-time truffle flavors.

I'm here at 8:07AM on Saturday. The hours on the door say they're open Saturday 8-12 (so did the hours on Google yesterday, but they've changed them now), but it's dark and there's no one there. Four people were there hoping to buy coffee and food. I've been here before, the coffee is great, the truffles are wonderful, and the other desserts are also great. They no longer are consistent about having a variety of desserts available, but I recommend thr cream cheese brownies if you can find the store open when they happen to have them available.

This Chocolate Café is amazing. Cute and quaint it sits on the second floor of the Pioneer Endicott bldg. Legacy Chocolates is a great place to get a gift or just treat yourself! They have a variety of gourmet truffles, chocolates, bars and coffee. Don’t like caffeine? They serve a delicious coco as well. I highly suggest stopping by if you are in the area!

They have the best German chocolate cake that I have ever tried in my life. So moist and decadent! I try to go there whenever I am in St. Paul! I seriously cannot recommend this place enough to my friends. If you love chocolates, it’s a must-visit place in the Twin Cities.

Highland Cafe & Bakery is a charming and spacious eatery that captures the essence of an American diner, making it a perfect spot for breakfast lovers. Upon visiting on a bustling Saturday morning, I found the atmosphere warm and inviting, with only a couple of tables available. The menu boasts generous portions of hearty classic dishes, including delightful soups like their turkey wild rice—thick and flavorful, served alongside fresh bread and crackers.
Stopped in for breakfast - we love local cafes. We were in the area overnight and wanted a "hometown" breakfast cafe. This hit the mark! It has the hometown small cafe feel. Very friendly waitresses and other staff. You may have to wait for a seat, but it is well worth it! I'm glad we stopped in.. It was delicious! We would definitely go back! Oh, the portions are pretty big, so chances are you will be bringing home leftovers :)

We walked in and sat ourselves, not shortly, we were greeted. Our order was taken. Our food was amazing. Our server, Amy, was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. We went for breakfast, there was so much to choose from, we will most definitely be back again and again! 👏🏾⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I got a cinnamon French toast with sausage, & scrambled eggs. My family shared the cinnamon roll. I had a glass of milk. Apple fritter made here that I ate later in the day after dinner. Ice cream is not from here. Tasty & good service. I will come back with my family. I came here in August 2024.

Hands down the best breakfast place in St Paul. I have been going consistently for several years now and the food is always amazing. All the staff are welcoming and kind. The food is fantastic and the service is quick. Anytime I go to another breakfast place I always regret it because Highland Cafe is undoubtedly the best breakfast restaurant within the Twin Cities metro area.

Lovely “hometown” feel to the place. We dropped by on a whim and were impressed by the food and service. Generous portion for the chicken tenders kids meal. Maybe next time we’ll try a slice of pie or cake from the tempting dessert case!

Cozy, casual family cafe with hearty classic food. The breakfast food is very good, I enjoyed the country fried steak and eggs with a side of hash browns. They also have coffee and tea lattes, desserts and sweet buns. I had chocolate silk pie and it was very light, fluffy and tasty. Overall, very satisfying food with cozy atmosphere.

I usually have the breakfast burrito (which is amazing) but this time I tried the taco salad. With or without the taco shell its wonderful! The sauce they put on it is not too hot and not too mild, it’s perfect! You can also choose chips on the side instead! I also can’t go here without having the bacon!! The bacon is a must!

Swede Hollow Cafe is a charming and cozy establishment that offers a variety of espresso drinks, pastries, breakfast options, soups, and sandwiches. It has gained a reputation for its inviting outdoor dining area which provides an excellent view of the St. Paul skyline in perfect harmony with the surrounding natural beauty. The cafe also boasts a historic fountain as a captivating centerpiece during the summer months.
Wonderful spot close to Mississippi Market in St. Paul. There is a beautiful small park (when weather permits) to sit and reflect outside. The building itself seems old and very Swedish even though the history of Swede Hollow is long-past, lots of "hygge" inside (yes I know it's Danish but they did own the country, kinda). A few tables downstairs, one cozy one on the mezzanine, 6-7 upstairs and a neat "conference room" with a very comfy reading armchair. Coffee really good (Americano, Cubano), great selection, had a studenty-feel, but we are close to MSU. The food looked great. Definitely one for my after shopping, a gem of a "Third Place".

4.5 stars feels about right. You order at the counter. A respectable amount of options for breakfast and lunch. The space is quite cool, multiple levels of seating. A nice outdoor space with an adjacent garden. It had just been lightning raining so I didn't eat outside, but will go back on a nicer day to try another menu item. I had the backed hashbrow platter. It was tasty.

What a hidden gem! Swede Hollow Cafe is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and a touch of nature right in the city. The breakfast sandwiches were absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly grilled. The coffee was rich and smooth, just the right way to start the morning. I especially loved the outdoor seating area surrounded by greenery — it feels so peaceful, almost like a secret garden. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. This place has such a unique charm, and I’ll definitely be coming back again and again. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food, great coffee, and a warm, inviting atmosphere! 🌿☕🥪

Other than the miscommunication - Their cinnamon rolls and French toast are a must-try! It was my first time @ Swede Hollow Cafe and I would definitely recommend. The park is right around the corner of the cafe - so I definitely went for a stroll afterwards. The sweet girl who took my order was recently hired. She informed me that after ordering my drink, I’d have to pick it up at the end of the bar. Since I ordered food, I received a number tag. I went upstairs to place my tag on a table, walked by downstairs to wait for my drink. 20 minutes later, I check in with the baristas and they said my drink and food had already been delivered to my table. Although I didn’t mind warm French toast and a room temperature lavender latte, I would have appreciated if they offered to remake the drink (since it had been sitting out for a bit) or apologize for not communicating. The baristas did inform me though that they only brought the drink out because I had ordered food, too. 🙏🥲

We found this place on a search for a nearby breakfast restaurant. It was with walking distance from our airbnb. The place is an old reused house and is very neat to either eat upstairs or out on the patio. We chose the patio and it was very pleasant. We order the hashbrown platter, the French toast, we had a coffee and a chai tea. All were excellent choices especially for sharing as we got to try both options and the portions were sufficient for doing so. I will say the french toast was very sweet. It was like having dessert for breakfast. :) If we lived in the area, we'd probably frequent this restaurant. The staff even bring your food to your table so you don't have to wait before sitting down after ordering at the counter.

Great tasting food. Love their salads. Good variety of menu options, including GF and V. They have a full selection of coffee drinks. With 5 employers behind the counter and no other drink orders, it took 7 minutes to make a decaf latte. Odd. I’ve been there when it has been busier and didn’t wait that long.

The Egg and I is a charming breakfast spot that offers a variety of dishes, including substantial pancakes, sandwiches, and other lunch favorites. While it may be slightly more expensive than your average breakfast joint, the unique experience it provides makes it well worth a visit. The service is prompt and attentive, with timely refills and accurate orders. One notable menu item is the eggs Benedict priced at $16.
Great place for American fare, especially breakfast. Large sizes and delicious. I especially like their pancakes. I have eaten here at least 4 or 5 dozen times over the last few years and it's always a great place to have a meeting. Large enough to find some privacy and they'll let you sit there for a while. Highly recommend.

I recently dined at this restaurant and was truly impressed by the outstanding service provided by Carrie. Her attentiveness and warm demeanor, really elevated my experience and showcased the value of this establishment. While I found the food to be decent, I ordered the Eggs Benedict and have certainly had better elsewhere. The atmosphere was pleasant, but it didn't quite stand out. However, Carrie's exceptional service made the visit worthwhile. Overall, if you're looking for a place where you're treated with care and attention, this restaurant is worth a try, especially if you have the pleasure of being served by Carrie!

Had a great Saturday morning breakfast. I had the French toast, with over easy eggs and bacon. The reason for the 4 stars is the French toast. Maybe it would have been better with cinnamon. The bacon tastes really good. Very large area inside for dining. Great view of University Ave.

I like the sunny open atmosphere of the egg and I and we have been there many times. This morning was the last time we are going there. I ordered a senior special and received one pancake two strips of bacon and a hard poached egg. I got the waiters attention and showed him how hard my egg was and he replied " oh, so you want a soft egg?" I've always ordered a poached egg expecting a soft egg that I can dip my toast into. They did remake my poached egg but I thought it was strange. My daughter's omelette was dry/ overcooked. And everything was overpriced, for instance, $6.95 for a side of bacon, $9.95 for my senior special that didn't even fill me up, and $4.10 for a very mediocre cup of coffee. I seriously think the coffee at McDonald's is better. By the time the tip was added, we ended up spending more than we did having drinks and happy hour specials at "crave". It just isn't worth it and we won't be back.

Flameburger is a unique diner-style eatery adorned with vintage advertisements. It offers a delectable selection of burgers and breakfast dishes that are available all day. The cozy interior, though small, exudes cleanliness, while the staff provides friendly service. Patrons rave about the mouthwatering food, such as the country fried steak and eggs served with pancakes. Additionally, the prices are reasonable for the quality offered.
Their new spot is more spacious and clean. Same open kitchen style. Seat yourself. I ordered a steak and 1/4lb Sunrise burger. The sunrise was very juicy, runny egg, and tasty. The steak didn't taste very seasoned if any. Ordered ait medium and it came out well done. The place was packed for dinner so waiting and asking for a new steak, took probably 25-30 minutes. The women working were very kind and helpful. I would stick to their burgers vs their steaks, just my opinion.

Stopped for shakes and fries after a ballgame at CHS. Fries were decent, just frozen crinkle cuts, but they were fried and seasoned well. The shakes were delicious, but not cold...therefore was just a glass of sweetened milk. We consumed them, but we were after something cold and refreshing and didn't get it. The atmosphere is neat, like '60's diner. There is also a patio outside, and a good amount of parking. There are condiments on the tables but no napkins for some reason. Our server was great, fast, and took our order perfectly. He also looked like he could pick me up and through me out the window, so I tipped well. For five fries and malts, it was just shy of 70$. I would not pay this again based on the experience.

Nestled in a charming brick building off Randolph Avenue, JS Bean Factory is the epitome of a cozy coffee shop experience. The inviting metallic tin-walled interior and picturesque gravel patio create an ideal atmosphere for enjoying live music and delectable pastries.
Parking was easy even on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to park on a side street a few minutes away. I got the reccomended drink, the blackberry dark chocolate mocha and it was delicious! Every flavor was distinct, yet blended together to make a lovely drink. The spinach cheese and walnut crossaint was alright, would have likely been better if it was warmed up. Staff was very friendly and personable, and I had a pleasant few hours sitting and taking in the atmosphere. Would reccomend and will be back.

This place has the perfect vibe of your friendly neighborhood coffee shop. It’s not pretentious in any way and serves up truly amazing coffee and coffee drinks. They get local pastries in which add to the experience, and my favorite is the apply fritter. They also have a variety of savory pastries which are amazing too. The service is top notch and the drinks come out quickly. We love stopping by in the morning before dropping our daughter off at daycare! Their drinks are some of the best ratio of sweetness to caffeine. This is easily my favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood, if not all of the Twin Cities.

IHOP is a well-established chain that offers a diverse range of pancakes and other traditional American breakfast and diner options. In terms of value for money, it outperforms Denny's according to some people's subjective opinions. One advantage is that customers don't necessarily need to order multiple dishes when dining at IHOP, which is both convenient and reassuring. Additionally, this particular location provides shaded seating areas, offering relief from the sun.

When we first walked in, they were switching out rugs, so the lobby was nice and clean. We were seated quickly but didn't have much time to look at drinks on the menu. Quite literally wasn't even sitting down yet. So I ordered something I've had before, the watermelon lemonade. I have yet to receive the drink that's advertised. Not once has it come out topped with blueberries or watermelon, as advertised. The pancakes are always great, however, and pretty standardly priced.

It was unfortunate that the service was poor that morning. She seemed unhappy serving our table. Food was good. I like the hash brown because it was not too greasy.

Overall, has not been my favorite location. This morning, my grandma insisted on having breakfast here. Her pancakes arrived and they were raw in the middle. This was mentioned to the waitress who took them and came back with these pancakes (picture below). My grandma isn't a wasteful person and said to forget it. And my mom decided to eat her own undercooked pancakes bc "they weren't as bad". The thing the bothered me the most was that the waitress just placed those burned pancakes in front of my grandma without saying anything and walking away. I guess i wouldn't recommend this location on Wednesday mornings. There is a waitress on other occasions that speaks Spanish and is nice which is the only reason I've come back when my family has that craving for American breakfast.

I would skip stopping here. When you walk in you can clearly see all the floors are dirty. Do they own a vacuum? Our waiter was a bit shy or something and hard to understand. His pants were clearly dirty. All the food came lukewarm and two of us got the wrong food. They did remedy that but by that time I just wanted to leave. We had to ask for water refills and silverware. Not a good experience by any means. Oh! And we kept bumping our heads on this light hanging right by our table.

Randy B — Google review
I try not to write negative reviews of a place unless they're really just awful, but I felt the need to review this location after giving this location several attempts within a three year span. Admittedly, I do not frequent Dunn Bros, so I do not know if my experience is directly related to this location or if it applies on a grander scale to the coffee chain as a whole. What I can say, after dozens of attempts spanning several years, is that the coffee here is consistently burnt tasting, and the food is less than subpar. Today's iced vanilla latte tasted like a 1980s ashtray smells, and no, I'm not being dramatic. I went with a friend who ordered an iced raspberry white mocha and said his tasted like raspberry cough syrup coupled with dirt and a smidge of ashtray as well. I ordered a slice of their banana chocolate chip loaf, and it had a funky taste as well. You know when you drink something with artificial sugar and it has that aftertaste? It was like that, but from start to finish in every bite. My friend ordered some type of breakfast burrito, and he said that its only redeeming quality was that it helped him "cleanse" his pallet after each attempt he took to drink his beverage. In the end, we tossed our two coffee's after trying to drink them. At one point, I had to excuse myself to the bathroom because I genuinely thought I might be sick. Now, I know what you're thinking... "If it was that bad, why didn't you go to the front and say something?" Here's why, I have been to this location over a dozen times over the course of the three years I've lived here. I've gone in the winter, spring, summer, and fall. I've gone in the morning and in the afternoon. Every time, it has consistently been this way, and in the beginning, I did say something, but it didn't change anything. The remakes would taste like they did the first and even the second time they would try. So, it really felt like there would be no point. You may ask, "Why did you keep trying?" And my answer is simply because I try to give places the benefit of time and change. New recipes, new protocols, new employees, and some places even have their A team and their B team. I try to really give places a chance. It's close to me, and it would be super convenient if things ever lined up. That has just not been the case here. I really, really, really wish it were, though. So, now, three years into attempts, I've decided it's time to stop trying and to share my experience with anyone who is looking for a good coffee house. There is a Starbucks across the street for those looking for convenience (not saying that's great, but it's for sure better). And, for those looking for good coffee, I personally would recommend making the 9 minute drive into Lake Elmo and hitting up Sunshine Coffee. There's not a lot of sitting room inside, but the coffee is delicious and won't leave you wondering if you might be sick. As for the atmosphere at Dunn Bros, it has a coffee house vibe, which I would enjoy except, on several occasions, I've found the facility to be a little gross (ie the bathrooms and table seating arrangements). The tables are crammed together next to the bathroom, which leaves a lingering smell in the air on that side of the facility and its not pleasant when you're trying to sit and enjoy hanging out with a friend, eating food, or drinking coffee. On the other side, there is a nice sitting area next to a fireplace. I loved the idea of this, but the last time I sat there, I found a massive wolf spider sitting on the wall next to my face. I screamed and jumped up. The staff laughed and then declined to help because they, too, did not like spiders, so I had to ask someone standing in line to help me. He tried to swat at it, but it ran into a corner and vanished from our sight. The staff did nothing, said nothing. In summation, this is not the place for me. Perhaps another location might be better? Maybe I'll give that a try sometime... maybe.
Margret J — Google review
Food and drinks were certainly 5 star worthy. I did an order online and pick up order, but the customer service during pick up was stellar as well. My family and I ordered several breakfast sandwiches, a fruit refresher, and some lattes. The reason I gave 3 stars though, is because one of my sandwiches had the wrong protein (turkey bacon instead of turkey sausage as requested), and there was a piece of paper on my sandwich; the paper attached to the cheese was not completely taken off, so I bit into a piece of paper.

I live in Minneapolis and spend a lot of time in non-chain trendy coffee shops. However -- I'm often in this area and have loved spending time at this Dunn brothers. Coffee is great. It's cozy (fireplace upfront) and so far has always had a table to work at, wifi that works and outlets for laptops. Everything I value in a coffee shop :)

Dunns has been one of my faves for years! Last visit was under par. Luke warm light roast, and the new hours-open make it difficult to visit. Closing early aft! Still a fan.

Cute coffee store with surprisingly good espresso for a chain. My latte came out scalding hot, but once it cooled it was smooth and flavorful.

Bru House Coffee Shop & Drive Thru is a charming family-owned coffeehouse that offers an extensive menu of hot and cold specialty drinks, as well as light fare. The cozy atmosphere provides ample indoor and outdoor seating, making it a perfect spot to relax with a delicious mocha or pumpkin white mocha. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming vibe, and the freshly baked goods are not to be missed.
We stopped by Bru House Coffee Shop and Drive Thru for the first time and really enjoyed it. I got the peach smoothie and a breakfast croissant sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese. Both were delicious. The croissant was warm and flaky, and the smoothie had a great peach flavor without being too sweet. My husband got the breakfast burrito and asked the cashier to surprise him with her favorite drink. She recommended a chai drink of some kind, and he really liked it. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. Definitely a spot we’d come back to for breakfast or a pick-me-up on the go.

A delightful local place for a great cup of coffee. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Both coffee and teas are good; I recommend the croissant sandwich. Good signage - it was easy to spot when driving along the highway.

Came here for the first time today, and I loved it. The staff is very friendly. The place is clean, organized and very nice on the inside. I ordered a mocha coffee, and it was great. I love how they use ghiradelli chocolate! I would love to come back. The prices are pretty good compared to competitors.

Easily one of my favorite coffee shops and a true community gem. Everything on the menu is tasty and coffee is strong. The service is a bit scattered and can be unfriendly depending on who is at the counter but this doesn’t prevent me from enjoying the incredible coffee and food. I also love the local art and mellow atmosphere.

i loved this coffee house so much! the staff was super nice, and they gave great recommendations. i came here with my sister, and we got two sandwiches and two lattes. my favorite sandwich was the turkey sandwich on cranberry bread, and my favorite drink was the peppermint mocha latte. the atmosphere was super cozy, and it was a great place to study/read. overall, i really liked this place, and i can’t wait to come again!

Coffee is always delicious, and the breakfast bagels and tortilla wrap are so good! I've also had a couple lunch sandwiches which were good. Staff is always nice and service has been pretty quick.

After trying out Bru house one time my girl and I have been hooked. The quality is top tier in every way. This is my opinion, I encourage anyone that wants friendly service, fresh quality beverages and some of the best sandwiches to go and experience it for yourself.
