The ARoS Aarhus Art Museum is a prominent art museum located in Aarhus, Denmark. It houses an extensive collection of Danish art from the 18th century to contemporary works, as well as a diverse foreign collection featuring renowned artists from various countries. The museum's striking exterior resembles a floating red-brick box and spans ten storeys.
I definitely recommend going to this museum. They have unique sections and any art lover would truly enjoy this space. There is something for everyone. The last floor has an amazing view and you can walk through a glass that changes colors. It’s quite a dynamic museum and they have a great gift shop as well.
Keti A — Google review
The building itself is pretty cool. Some of the exhibitions are nice. They have headphones but only in Danish. The roof top sky walk is fun to take photos of.
Irene K — Google review
suppose I hate modern art as most of this was dreadful to my eyes. I did like the landscape paintings and a few others but most of it was weird, bad or just utter nonsense. The two women cutting onions was the biggest joke they called art. I don’t get the rainbow roof either, so what? It’s tinted glass, for kids or Instagram/TikTokers it may be good but not for adults.
Rob — Google review
♿ Entrance = Yes ♿ Parking = Yes ♿ Building = Yes ♿ Elevator = small / medium sized The aarhus art museum is what I was looking forward to see for awhile now and I got the chance to do it today. I was a bit disappointed from the expectations as they do have 10 floors but in reality only 7-8. The highest floor has the rainbow colored glass and This is definitely the best part of the museum in my opinion. 2 levels below it as the human art which was decent. The floor below it was okay. And all the other floors wasn't worth checking out. 2 floors were for a younger audience. So if you're going as a family it may be worth visiting all the floors. If you're all adults. You may not stay there for super long. They have a cafeteria and toilets as well as Free WiF, they have a button that slows down the rotating door which is good for bad walkers or wheelchair usersi. It's not a bad place but not a super interesting one either in my opinion.
Crafo — Google review
Beautiful museum. A lot of stairs, but there are elevators available for people with difficulty to walk. We loved the interactive art area. We appreciated that the front desk employee warned us for a scarier exposition on the third floor, since we brought our child. That way we could avoid it. What could have made the experience so much better would be if they’d implement a play area for young children. Young kids can get bored or overwhelmed and it would be nice if they could de-stimulate in a play area/child friendly area. That way someone can watch the kids in the play area while the other can enjoy art in peace. The rainbow panorama is very noisy. This could trigger you if you’re sound sensitive. Best is to bring some kind of noise cancelling for a better experience. There was so much amazing art in this museum. It’s definitely worth a visit. Parking is a bit difficult. We went on a workday and there were very few parking spots available.
Manita P — Google review
Lovely Art Museum with a lot of modern art. They have a significant collection of Danish artists. Currently there is a Picasso and others on the display. You can also see Andy Warhol’s art there. On the top of the building there is a Rainbow Panorama which is very interesting. Art is spread over 10 floors in the building. Parking is not a problem around the museum. Inside you can have a coffee and a light meal.
Rafal K — Google review
Walking into ARoS feels like entering a soul. Not a building. A soul. There’s this weight in the air — not heavy like sadness, but like meaning. Like emotion stretched out over canvas and sculpture. Like a mirror you didn’t ask for, but couldn’t look away from. 🪞💔 You walk past massive human forms, surreal tunnels, and sometimes... just emptiness. But the kind that makes you want to cry and laugh and fall in love all at once. Every room feels like an emotion you once had — or tried to forget. 😭💗🖤 And then… then there’s the rainbow panorama. The city is below you, silent, distant, still... and you’re walking through color. Through emotion. Through perspective. Through the prism of your own heart. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Every step changes how you see the world. How you see yourself. You start yellow, full of joy. Then blue… melancholic. Red… passionate. Green… calm. It's like mood rings for the soul. I walked that circle three times. Once with wonder. Once with longing. Once just to cry. 🌈🔁🫂 This isn’t just art. It’s emotional warfare. It rips you open and stitches you back up with neon thread. 🧵✨

Incredible installations, both permanent and temporary. The rainbow panorama is also great fun. In my opinion, a must visit in Aarhus

Botanical garden
The Botanical Garden in Aarhus offers a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can explore four distinct climate zones showcasing rare plants and trees from various countries. The garden's peaceful atmosphere provides an ideal setting for a relaxing picnic amidst vibrant flowers. The greenhouses, known as vaeksthusene, offer interactive displays and the opportunity to learn about flora from around the world. Additionally, the indoor botanical gardens feature diverse plant species and a large hot house with butterflies.
Wonderful experience and cannot believe was free!! Wanted to spend more time but limited to drive to Copenhagen. Information desk wasn't too helpful originally maybe guy was preoccupied but then he helped me in gift shop and gave nice parting words. Definitely try cafe!! Coffee and dessert was fabulous with excellent service

Normally, im not really into gardens and stuff, but some friends took me with them, so i gave it a shot. And although it was not really big. I had an amazing time here. I saw some beautiful plants and butterflies. Oh, and the toilets all had a theme which I found a fun little extra. Definitely check it out if your in the area

🌿 Botanisk Have, Aarhus – A Tranquil Urban Oasis 🌿 Nestled just north of Den Gamle By, Botanisk Have is a beautiful escape in the heart of Aarhus. Spanning approximately 21 ha, it includes varied landscapes—theme beds, beech woods, dunes, ponds, and greatly enhanced greenhouses—all free to enter . What I Loved: Seasonal Diversity: Open year-round, the garden transforms with each season—from spring blossoms to autumn hues . Plant Variety & Education: Collections range from native Danish flora and medicinal plants to alpine, bog, and dune habitats. Informative labels in both Latin and Danish enrich the experience . Greenhouses Excellence: Marvel at the striking, snail‑shaped tropical dome and older glasshouses spanning four climate zones. They were renovated in 2011–2014 by C.F. Møller — a true architectural and botanical highlight . Warm Community Feel: Operated in part by Aarhus University, the municipality, and “Friends of the Botanical Gardens,” the park is vibrant with events and educational activity . Visitor Tips: Chill Spots: Benches and picnic tables (some with grill bases) are dotted throughout; perfect for a packed lunch or rest . Café Break: The greenhouse café offers fresh snacks, though experiences vary—some visitors praise a “fine café with nice food,” while others suggest options are limited . Møllen (Windmill): A charming historic mill beside the gardens and close to Den Gamle By—great photo ops and extra historical charm . Kid-Friendly: With an amphitheatre, playground, and diverse plant life, it’s ideal for families and casual explorers . ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly Recommended Whether you're out for a leisurely walk, immersing yourself in botanic wonders, or seeking a peaceful day with the family, Botanisk Have delivers. Its free entry makes it accessible and inviting—wander its paths, enjoy the greenhouses, and pause by the mill or a pond. A top-tier nature escape in central Aarhus.

The Botanical Garden in Aarhus is a very interesting place, but what I liked the most was the garden park. An absolutely amazing park. Playgrounds for children, alleys where you can walk in peace, there is a carriage in which you can take a tour of the park. An impressive place.
Mariana G — Google review
Explore the world in the greenhouse or traverse the Danish landscapes outside- this is a very well-designed space with free entry! We really loved the platform in the canopy in the tropical area. The cafe is nice and the themed toilets were cool. We ended up getting free parking (available during certain hours, based on the day of the week, maybe extended for electric vehicles).
T.N. — Google review
Walked out to the Botanical gardens while we were Aarhus. Well worth it. The place is sprawling and beautiful.
Jason F — Google review
Always a great place to visit. Especially love 'Væksthusene' during winter since it's warm and green 🌿

Great gardens! It's free, not too big and gives a great impression of flora across different ecosystems.

Tivoli Friheden is a family amusement park located around 2 km south of Aarhus city center, close to the woodlands of Marselisborg. The park offers traditional carousel and Ferris wheel rides, as well as 5D cinematic experiences and laser games. It's a perfect change of pace for children tired of historical landmarks and museums in Aarhus.
We recently spent a fun-filled day at Tivoli Friheden in Aarhus during the Halloween 🎃 week, and it’s a perfect destination for families looking for excitement and entertainment. The park offers a great variety of attractions for all ages. Our little one loved the kiddie rides and playground areas, while the older family members enjoyed the thrill rides like Hjertekig and Cobra. The park is well-organized, and the staff are friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. One of the highlights was Sky Tower, a free-fall experience that’s not for the faint of heart but was an absolute thrill! We also appreciated the park’s scenic areas and green spaces, which provided a nice place to relax and have a break between rides. The dining options were surprisingly diverse for a theme park, with everything from classic fast food to cafes with healthier choices. We enjoyed a lovely meal at one of the outdoor seating areas, which had a great view of the park. We spent about five hours there and felt like we could have stayed even longer. Overall, Tivoli Friheden offers a wonderful blend of thrills and family-friendly attractions, making it a must-visit when in Aarhus. Highly recommended for families or anyone looking for a fun day out! We stayed there from 10 AM all the way until the closing time of 9 PM.
Omer M — Google review
We had an amazing day! It was opening day and not too crowded, so the lines were moving pretty quickly. The stairs in the illusion house and the dodgem bumper cars were the highlights (& the ice cream!). The mini gold course was very challenging. Hope to come back sometime.
Amy C — Google review
This place was on my wishlist to visit while in Denmark and it did not disappoint! Whimsical amusement park with a beautiful walking path, good food and scenic views. We split a burger and fries, should have had the fish and chips instead and the ice cream was delicious! Pizza was one of the best I’ve had in a while. Would recommend and will revisit sometime soon.
DesignDivatoo A — Google review
So, let's get things started. Food: I got no complaints, at least... for the food itself. Man, those prices are high. Classic theme park prices here. Service: This is where I will speak on the scare actors. Fantastic! They are everywhere and will sneak up on you no matter what you're doing. Ordering food? Prepare to have a clown standing, staring, waiting for you to turn. Despite all this, as soon as the scare actors saw something wrong, they would help. Throughout the day I saw them help families with buggies, support people that are upset and guide people in the right direction. Rides: The drop tower was pretty good. The roller coaster was honestly pretty forceful, providing nice inversions and a very steep first drop. Environment: Wow! During the day this place looked alright I guess. Some good decorations involving pumpkins but it was very basic. Just grassy, that's it. During the night though? The whole place lit up! The lights were mesmerising. It went from random forest to Neo Toyko in a second.
Aidan S — Google review
Nice little park with ok rollercoasters. There are entertainment for all ages. Many places to eat or drink, or just enjoy a bench int he park.
Kim R — Google review
This is a great amusement park which is easy to get to using public transportation. If you’re here on a cruise ship, it’d be a great place to stop at. The roller coasters weren’t the best, but the overall park was great. It’s a bit pricy but so is everything in Denmark.
Daisy P — Google review
It's fine, a good way to spend a couple of hours. The highlight here is the (separately paid) high rope course. However, it doesn't hold a candle when you compare it to other bigger theme/amusement parks like the amazing Djurs Sommerland because Tivoli seems to mostly only buy the cheapest, second hand attractions.

Aarhus Cathedral, a Gothic church dating back to the 12th century, is dedicated to Saint Clement and features stunning fresco-covered arches. The city of Aarhus offers a plethora of attractions including ARoS - Aarhus Museum of Art, The Old Town open-air museum, Botanical Garden, Marselisborg Palace, Moesgaard Museum, Tivoli Friheden Theme Park and more.
Denmark’s longest church is definitely worth a visit! It’s just middle of Aarhus . Remember to climb to tower which is around 150 steps to top and its cost like 10 dkk. Than you will see the gergouse view of the city ,unfortunately my short time I could only make it to see inside of church . It’s like 525 years old . Such a beautiful details inside . I can say that u can easly spend an hour for the see all church. Highly recommended…
Emre U — Google review
We visited Aarhus for the day while on a cruise, and Aarhus Cathedral (Skt. Clemens Kirke) was one of the most impressive sights of our short stop! Located right in the city center, it’s impossible to miss—its towering spire dominates the skyline and draws you in from blocks away. Dating back to the 14th century, this is Denmark’s largest church and an important historical landmark. The exterior is beautiful, but stepping inside truly took our breath away. The architecture is stunning, with high vaulted ceilings, intricate woodwork, and centuries-old frescoes that have been beautifully preserved. You can really feel the history in every detail. Even with limited time in the city, this cathedral was well worth the visit. It’s peaceful, awe-inspiring, and gives you a real sense of Aarhus’s heritage. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or simply want to take in a quiet moment while exploring, Aarhus Cathedral is a must-see. Highly recommended if you're visiting the city—even just for the day!
Celine L — Google review
If you come to Aarhus, you should come here. You can feel the grandeur of the cathedral. You can get in there for free and it was 5kr to go up to the tower. You can see the view of Orhus. But I didn't go up.
웅냥냥 — Google review
Beautiful cathedral that had organ music playing when we came. Lots of amazing frescoes to pore over. Free entry and free toilet. Read their brochure for information on why there is a ship hanging in "the ship" part of the cathedral or why the patron saint is holding an upside down anchor. The entry to the clock tower was unfortunately closed when we visited.
T.N. — Google review
Fantastic cathedral , free to enter although I believe there is a fee for climbing the tower. Lots of frescos, tombs and art. If you are there when the organ plays it will blow your mind. If worth a visit and there are toilets too
Kevin M — Google review
Fascinating cathedral with many frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries (also one from the 1300s!) and a unique altarpiece created in the mid-1400s. Take your time in here, there is a lot more to see than first appears. Buy one of ylthe pamphlets at the entrance in order to really appreciate this well-preserved cathedral.
Julie C — Google review
The most interesting part were the wall paintings and the delicately made wooden doors. There were many sculptures too. Almost like a museum, full of history.

Dokk1 is a cultural center and the main branch of the Aarhus Library, located in a striking waterfront building. It offers a modern public space perfect for nocturnal exploration and cultural events, with ambient lighting and architectural grandeur by the harbor.
Dokk1 in Aarhus is a wonderful destination for anyone, whether you’re with family, a partner, or exploring on your own. Nestled right by the harbor, this library offers stunning views through its expansive floor-to-ceiling glass walls, creating a serene and inspiring space to read, work, or simply relax. Inside, the library is designed to be both modern and inviting, with plenty of cozy nooks for quiet reading and workspaces that feel open and filled with natural light. The outdoor playground is fantastic for kids, with interactive installations and plenty of space for them to explore. The coffee shop is another highlight, serving up rich, quality coffee alongside a nice selection of pastries, making it easy to stay and enjoy the space for hours. Dokk1 isn’t just a library—it’s a community space that feels vibrant yet calming, with the perfect mix of bustling areas and quiet corners. We loved the place so much that we went twice during our 3-day visit to Aarhus!
Omer M — Google review
When it comes to the space where you can feel the best local feeling, I choose the library. I always visit the city's library wherever I go, but this place felt very family-friendly. Rather than borrowing a book, I felt like I was spending time with my family here and spending the day. The library itself was not a big one. However, to be in a place where you can see the beautiful sea, you will feel good.
웅냥냥 — Google review
Totally awesome place to study and also relax with the view. I always come here and going forward for reviewing my notes in lib. Removed one star because it closed on Saturday 😭
Tangellapalli R — Google review
A pretty nice and large library with many options for entertainment. A lot of college students like to go down there to review their work or just relax with a book or their multitude of games. There’s both consoles (Which you need to ask to be opened) and other options for games. Back in the days it used to have more classic consoles, which unfortunately don’t seem to be there anymore, at least to my knowledge. As a local I’d recommend going if you have nothing to do in town.
Frederik Y — Google review
Favorite spot in town! Literally can spend a whole day working and studying in this library, the view is just too amazing 🤩

Great place for tourists and children. Nice views across the harbour with seating and cafe to rest for tourists. and lots of children books and area for kids. Can get busy during the day. Lots of university students here studying.

The Viking Museum, located at Sankt Clements Torv 6 in Aarhus, Denmark, offers a free and interactive experience celebrating the city's rich Viking heritage. The museum features excavated artifacts dating from the 10th to 15th centuries, including a fully reconstructed house and an actual Viking skeleton. Situated below a bank, this small yet enriching space provides an educational outing that ranks high on the list of what to see in Arhus.
I loved this fairly small local museum. It has a lot of local history that really makes walking the streets of Århus meaningful and inspiring. Look for the sign in order to find this museum.
Dan M — Google review
Lovely but small (service) museum (1 hour of reading and exploring everything), but most lovely thing is it's actually located on exact excavation spot, describing life in viking settlement, especially local one. With locations of craftsman, ramparts and how the local dug houses looked (with one replica).
Václav S — Google review
Too small, no staff to help explain the place. Fully self guided. Mostly a satellite location for the moesgaard museum. The place is also quite dark, to protect some of the artifacts in the museum, so do take note if you are ever there. But generally you can give this place a miss. Most of the exhibits are in the pictures, so just save the money and buy yourself some souvenirs instead.
Kelvin T — Google review
This museum was great at separating fact from fiction. Vikings were primarily fishermen and farmers. Exploring came as a natural extension of looking for new fisheries and fresh agricultural lands and climate.
Kim H — Google review
The Viking Museum lives up to its name and then some. You will feel immersed in Viking lore walking through its halls, a large quantity of artifacts in here are in a truly impressive state of preservation. The bog bodies plus extensive captions make this a visit here an enriching anthropological experience.
Martin G — Google review
Very small one room museum. Interesting info but not much to it. No guide or gift shop. Tickets are self purchased once you walk down the stairs but no one checks if you’ve bought one.
Rebecca K — Google review
This place can be hard to miss as it's an anonymous door with a sign outside and the top is like a building site. Only stairs down to the room. It is more like a one room exhibition rather than an actual museum. Price was DKK30 but ticket machine was broken at the time so did not pay anything. A good initial setup but needs to be larger.
Vin C — Google review
It is small, yes. But we spend ca 30 minutes there and it is a place where Vikings once lived. Not to expensive. Worth a short stop if you can spend time.

Godsbanen is a vibrant cultural center in Arhus that has been hosting various events since 2012. It offers a wide range of activities, including pottery, metal and woodwork, graphic design, and laser cutting workshops for the public. Visitors can witness artists' creative processes and even participate in workshops. The space includes indoor production facilities, meeting rooms, a mini cinema, and a large foyer.
Cool architectural, there is cafe here and many of workshop stiudio around

Web site promotes and gives the impression this place is a hive of activity. We turned up and found very little happening, workshops closed, locked doors and the advertised Czech photography exhibition incredibly badly presented. View from the bleak roof was ok.

Wish there were 6 stars possible. Amazing inspirational art space. Walked in off the street and was screenprinting 10 minutes later. Friendly, affordable and great sense of community and the arts together. Something inherently wonderful in a municipality that supports the arts and publuc access to those experiences. Just incredible facilities and technicians.

This is such a cool area! If you‘re into street art, skateboarding or related things this place is definitely for you. I enjoyed looking at all the different styles of art as well as exploring the creative buildings around the area. There was also music playing and i just enjoyed the overall feeling of being there

The Old Town, also known as Den Gamle By, is a captivating open-air museum in Aarhus, Denmark. It features over 75 historic buildings dating from the 16th to the early 20th century, meticulously collected and preserved to recreate an authentic market town from the time of Hans Christian Andersen. The museum offers a glimpse into Denmark's past with its well-preserved houses, shops, workshops, and windmills that still function as they did in bygone eras.
Den Gamle By – A Walk Through Danish History 🇩🇰 If you're visiting Aarhus, Den Gamle By is an absolute must-see! This open-air museum is like stepping into a time machine — beautifully recreated streets, shops, and homes from different eras in Denmark’s past. 🕰️ I loved wandering through the cobblestone alleys and seeing how life looked in the 1800s, 1920s, and even the 1970s. The attention to detail is incredible — from the authentic furniture to vintage products on display in the shops. 📸 Don’t miss the baker, the old-school radio store, and the apartment buildings that show daily life through the decades. It’s both nostalgic and eye-opening. 🎟️ The entry fee is worth every krone, especially if you take your time to explore all the sections. It’s perfect for families, history lovers, and anyone curious about Danish culture. 💬 Tip: Bring comfy shoes and a camera — and don’t skip the modern 1970s area, it’s unexpectedly fun! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended — one of the highlights of my Denmark trip!
Buthaina O — Google review
This place is amazing for kids and adults. It was the highlight of our 3 day trip to Aarhus. We especially loved the 1922 cafe (where we bought coffee and pastries prepared, baked, and served like in the original time) and the historic bakery (where we bought actual bread and pastries that would have been available on the original time). The other buildings and exhibits are great too. The festival grounds were especially loved by our 4 year old. Overall, one of the best open air museums we've been to.

Absolutely amazing place! It really is like you are back in time. It was so interesting walking around fully immersed in the past. You could maybe spend all day here if you really took your time. My favourite thing in Aarhus and possibly the best musuem I’ve been to!

A wonderful step back in times past, representing many eras, cultures and historic events. Great for the family and history buffs. This spacious recreation is thoughtfully laid out walking through the Vikings to 1970s in the form of Main Street, museum of artifacts, village recreations and country estate with authentic trade shops. Historic coffee and bakery from the 1800s was inviting and delicious. Preteens may not appreciate the historical context of Aarhus, said to be the first civilized port of the Viking era. Well maintained and mostly accessible. Loved our visit

The absolutely beautiful museum took me back in time. I loved the 1970s themed arrangements the most. We had the perfect opportunity to visit during the K7 week too. Watch out for the ducks, they chase you!
Jacinda J — Google review
What a fun experience. See housing, shops and vocational skills from several different time periods. Well maintained, picturesque area, and friendly hosts. Cute gift shop, too, that offers a variety of options from candy and toys, to kitchen gadgets, books, and ornaments.
Ashley S — Google review
The absolute best open-air museum I have ever seen (and I at 67 have seen many in various countries). You will need a lot of time! You are transported magically back in time to various eras. As an example, when you walk in a 1974 apartment, EVERYTHING is there as if the people living there had just left in a hurry... toys on the floor, trash in the bins, half-eaten food on the table and stove, cigarette butts in the ashtrays.... get the idea? You can open drawers and see their junk and medicines. In the 1800s you can see the same attention to detail in the homes of rich and poor. See factories and shops through the ages. Guides are everywhere dressed appropriately and acting out their roles to tell you about life in their world. SUPERB and worth 6 stars.
Jonathan B — Google review
Den Gamle By is a very cool experience. We spent over 6 hours exploring all of the homes, businesses and gardens that have been recreated/ reconstructed. Good variety of food and drink options as you make your way through. Quite a lot of interactions set up in many of the exhibits, and the rotary phones you can use to call businesses in the town are such a fun idea.

Food court
Aarhus Street Food is a vibrant food court located in a former bus garage, drawing inspiration from London's Borough Market. The venue offers an array of international cuisines, including Italian, Mediterranean, and Turkish options. Visitors can savor Thai treats, crispy pizzas, fish & chips, Scandinavian meatballs and more at traditional Danish long tables. Additionally, Aarhus Central Market provides the opportunity to purchase Danish delicacies and freshly prepared dishes to go.
I had the chance to visit the Aarhus Street Food Market during a one-day stop while on a cruise, and it was absolutely worth it! I had seen several YouTube videos highlighting the market and made a point of including it in my short time in Aarhus—and I’m so glad I did. It definitely lived up to the hype. The market is located just a short walk from the train station and is cleverly housed in repurposed shipping containers, which gives it a cool, industrial vibe that fits perfectly with the laid-back but lively atmosphere. There’s a great mix of indoor and semi-outdoor seating, making it a comfortable spot to hang out whether it’s sunny or raining. What really stood out was the incredible variety of food options. From traditional Danish smørrebrød to flavorful Thai noodles, fresh tacos, juicy burgers, and more, there’s something for absolutely every taste. The international flavors are authentic and well-prepared, and I loved that you could see each vendor putting care and heart into what they served. I ended up trying a few different dishes to get the full experience, and everything was delicious. There are also drink options, including local beers and specialty cocktails, and plenty of spots to sit and enjoy them. The market was clean, well-organized, and had a vibrant, welcoming feel. Whether you're a foodie, a casual traveler, or just looking for a memorable place to eat, Aarhus Street Food Market is a must-visit. Would 100% recommend making this a stop—even if you're just in Aarhus for the day!

So many food choices! It's worth stopping and enjoying the cuisine. Summer days make the outside lively with folks enjoying food, drinks, and ice cream. Inside, there is a primary bar and another for non-alcoholic drinks, and on warm days you'll find more seating. Pick from a variety of food, some Danish but many others too.
Michael M — Google review
We loved it here - great food options for all tastes including vegetarian and vegan. There was cuisine from across the world as well as Danish food and some nice bars and coffee shops. We visited during the day when it was child friendly and there was plenty of space available.

Excellent food hall located close to the main train station with so many different food options available. I had the falafel wrap from “Zaatar” and it was good. Personally the bread was a bit too flakey for my liking, but still good and the portion generous. Recommended!!

Perfect place to try different cuisines in Aarhus. They have many stalls like Mexican, Indian, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Middle East and many more. There is indoor and outdoor free seating available. The place is self serve and very functional. Must try: Thai curry, Nachos, Falafel wrap, Japanese Bao and Savory crepes.
Shubham G — Google review
Aarhus Street Food is a fantastic concept that brings a diverse array of cuisines under one roof, creating a vibrant, multicultural dining experience right in the heart of the city. The atmosphere is lively, with friendly staff and plenty of seating, making it an ideal spot for locals and visitors alike to enjoy a wide variety of flavors. Its central location also makes it easily accessible, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or meeting up with friends. I had the chance to sample dishes from Japanese, Middle Eastern, and British stalls, and each one delivered on quality and taste. It’s clear that a lot of attention goes into ensuring each dish feels authentic and satisfying. From fresh ingredients to carefully prepared spices, every dish offered something unique and flavorful. One area that could improve the experience, however, is the payment system. While you can order online from all stalls on the same website, payment still has to be made separately at each stall’s counter. This makes the process slower and a bit inconvenient, especially during busy times. Having an option to pay online as well as order would streamline the experience, making it quicker to pick up your food. For example, at Wolf Food Hall in Brussels, which I recently visited, both ordering and paying could be done online, which enhanced the experience significantly and encouraged people to try even more dishes. All in all, Aarhus Street Food is a must-visit for anyone in Aarhus who wants to explore a variety of flavors in one spot, and with a few adjustments to the payment process, it could become an even more enjoyable dining experience. I’m looking forward to returning and seeing how it continues to evolve!

A MUST VISIT This is a great place to visit. Plenty of small street food cars - lots of choices. We have been here several times, and we always have a good time. They do also have public restrooms - normally nice and clean. There are indoor as well as outdoor seating areas. Definitely a must visit when in Århus.

The place to go when none of your family members/friends can decide on one thing to eat, just go to this place and everyone can order what they want. Once you order at the food stand of your choice you get a buzzer so you can go back outside/to your table and wait until the food is ready. I had been craving korean fried chicken for sooo long on our trip so when I saw that they had it here I was so happy 🥹 + you get actual cutlery and not just plastic ones!

The wife and I visited when we went to Denmark recently. It was great. Free of charge, a lot to see, a lovely cafe and a good souvenir shop.

We visited Aarhus for the day while on a cruise, and the Botanical Gardens and Tropical Houses quickly became one of my absolute favourite stops. Nestled right in the city, this beautiful green space offers a peaceful escape and a surprising amount to explore—all for free, which I really appreciated! The gardens themselves are lovely to stroll through, showcasing native Danish plants and thoughtfully designed landscapes. But the real highlight for me was the Tropical Houses. The glass domes are like stepping into a different world—lush, warm, and full of life. Inside, you’re surrounded by towering palms, vibrant flowers, waterfalls, and even butterflies fluttering freely through the air. As a houseplant lover, I was blown away by the size and health of many familiar plants I grow at home—jade plants, umbrella plants, bird of paradise, banana plants, philodendrons, and so many more. They looked like they were on steroids compared to my little potted versions! It was amazing to see them in this thriving, naturalistic environment. Whether you’re into plants, photography, or just want a relaxing place to explore, this spot is a must-visit in Aarhus. It’s a perfect mix of nature, education, and tranquility, right in the middle of the city. Don’t miss this gem—especially if you’re visiting Aarhus on a short stop like we were. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Each year, it welcomes nearly a million guests for over 1,500 concerts and events.
We had the full packet, a show "The Infernal Comedy" and the event dinner. It was a perfect evening. Show was amazing, John Malkovich is for sure a world class actor. Dinner was great, I would go dine there, even I didn't have a show to see. Staff was so service minded, polite and helpful. We had a great evening.

Very nice theatre hall. Went for a theatre play containing opera, and the sound quality was surprisingly good. The view from my balcony (right side) was without problems, and before the show I had a nice glass of wine in the bar. Entering the hall was without much waiting in line and I got inside within 5 minutes of waiting. Two minor "areas of improvement" was 1) the bar opened only one hour(ish) before the show, so you can't hang around for long if you've travelled from far away and need a place for a relaxing glass of wine, and 2) there was no notification of the hall doors opening (also, tickets didn't say e.g. "doors open 10 minutes before the show"), so you had to guess when to get ready by the door to enter the hall.

The park is adjacent to the Marselisborg Forests, offering a peaceful retreat among flora, fauna, and wildlife. Visitors can explore the surrounding gardens and parklands of the impressive Marselisborg Palace, which has been the summer residence of Danish royalty since 1902.
Free entry, cute deers, but you can’t feed them because it’s forbidden. Near the park is a beach with the famous “Infinite Bridge” which is open from may to october so i could not see it. In rest it’s calming and beautiful!

Simply stunning! We loved it here and spent most of our day with these beautiful animals. When you arrive, take your time, be smooth with movements. Go to back of park up the hill by the water, snap some branches at the back and watch how many deer you have right next to you eating them. Makes for a super special visit

I didn’t see a single deer when I went to the deer park in Ireland, but this time in Denmark? Around 30 deers right in front of me. What beautiful creatures! Someone on the internet says you can feed them and I got there all excited with my carrots then saw the no feeding sign :( anyways the deers are so cute! Park has wc. And the park is close to the infinite bridge.

Marselisborg Deer Park is a wonderful place to spend time in Aarhus! 🦌✨ The highlight is definitely the deer — they roam freely all around the park, which makes the experience feel magical and close to nature. There are plenty of seating areas scattered across the park, so it’s easy to find a nice spot to relax, have a picnic, or just enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The park is big, green, and very well maintained, making it enjoyable for both short walks and longer visits. Parking is never a problem since there are many spaces available, and the entrance is completely free, which makes it perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to enjoy a calm day outdoors. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Aarhus! 🌳🌞
Ahmed A — Google review
A great experience, you see the deer so close up. They literally walk past you. Signs say you cannot feed them despite people saying otherwise online. They can get scared if you get too close or make too much noise.
Rob — Google review
Went here three years ago, at that time it was allowed to feed the deers carrots and apples if you brought them with you. So this year when we came back with the goods we were surprised to see that it's not allowed anymore to feed the deers. I must say I can see why, three years ago we had walks for hours there and maybe saw two other people the whole time we were there and now it's pretty busy! Some deers will still come to you for a little pet on the head and they were very curious to see our little baby which was very cute. But we were not as popular as the last time without the carrots of course. We went there two days in a row, the first day was a public holiday in Denmark and I would not recommend visiting at the time of a holiday. It's way too busy to enjoy the park. The second day it was rainy at first but as soon the sun was shining it was getting crowded. Go in the early mornings or in the late afternoon to avoid that and really enjoy the park. Nonetheless, this park is beautiful. You have some beautiful spots where you can see the deers in the distance in there somewhat "natural habitat". With or without the deers this park is suitable for a beautiful walk with amazing views.

What an incredible building. Just beautiful, inside and out. We booked a tour through the visit Århus website and I'd highly recommend doing it. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and so passionate about the building and history of Århus. We got to go up the tower and saw the most incredible views of the city. It's a perfect example of Danish modern architecture and absolutely stunning!

Aarhus City Hall was completed in 1941 from a design by architects Arne Jacobsen and Erik Moller. It was designed to replace the Old City Hall, built in 1857, which is now home to the Museum of Women's History. The building includes a 196-foot tall tower and a tower clock with a face that is almost 23-feet wide. The city hall is made with concrete plated with grey marble imported from Porsgrunn in Norway. Architectural details are completed on the exterior in copper that has since been covered in verdigris. The entrance of the Aarhus City Hall is in the City Hall Park. The park includes a cobbled plaza and an avenue lined in linden trees. City Hall Square offers a fountain and a sculpture known as Ceres Bronden. The interior of the city hall has oak parquet floors, patterned ceramic tiles, glass walls and a large number of brass and bronze accents. Visitors can take guided tours inside the city hall on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

'The Infinite Bridge' in Aarhus, also known as Den Uendelige Bro, offers a serene and intimate experience with its circular wooden pier that extends into the sea. Originally part of the Sculpture by the Sea festival in 2015, this art installation became so beloved by the locals that it was reconstructed as a permanent fixture.

We were visiting Aarhus for the day on a cruise, and The Infinite Bridge was high on our must-see list—and it absolutely lived up to the hype! Getting there took some effort: we waited quite a while for the bus and then had to walk over a kilometre from the stop. But once we arrived, the setting made it all worth it. The bridge is located close to Marselisborg Castle (which we also loved), so it makes for a great double stop if you’re exploring the area. The bridge itself is such a cool and unique piece of architecture—a perfect wooden circle stretching out over the water in Aarhus Bay, offering 360° views of the coastline, city, and surrounding forest. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and really makes for some incredible photos. One surprising thing we learned is that it’s only up seasonally, assembled each spring and taken down in the fall—so if you’re visiting outside those months, it might not be there! Despite the bit of a trek, it ended up being one of our favorite stops in Aarhus, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature, architecture, or just a scenic place to relax by the water.

I thought this was a very insightful museum with exhibitions of patient artwork and historical items relating to psychiatry. Fascinating experience. It is a profoundly interesting exhibition. Highly recommend to anyone visiting, and living in, Aarhus. We visited here during our stay in Aarhus and were presently surprised as how fantastic this museum is. It’s only 10 minutes from the city via public transport and really reasonably priced. We spent a few hours here in awe of the detailed history of Ovartaci’s life and artistic works. The artwork was incredibly profound and thought provoking. I came away astonished that I had not known of the history of Ovartaci and his art. The staff at the museum were also great, very friendly and accommodating. I think everyone should support this important exhibition and the causes it represents.

Brilliantly curated, fascinating museum. Extremely knowledgeable and interesting staff, phenomenal artworks, placed in context of wider perceptions of mental health/illness and the history of psychiatry. Well worth visiting. Great little bookshop on site too.
R S — Google review
Bottom floor has an art collection (quite ok!) and the top floor is a bit chaotic collection of rooms with furniture and items from the hospital's past: a library, printing room, dining room. Do not expect to witness a real historical hospital ward.
Marcin L — Google review
Quaint and intimate museum in the old school of journalism. The story about Ovartaci and the psychiatric ward is both moving, scary, amazing and so much more. The museum contains lots of original artifacts from the hospital. Great displays. A small garden with wildflowers and a small fountain lets you contemplate on what went on in the mind of Ovartaci. Well-stocked museum shop where you can get a cup of coffee and ice cream - and rest in furniture taken from the old psychiatric hospital.

Watch out! The exhibition is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1 to 5 pm! Right now the most artworks are in Venice Biennale, so the collection is small. It is also situated in a new building now, not in clinic anymore.

The Museum of Ancient Art (MAA) is a museum in Aarhus, Denmark, which showcases ancient Mediterranean casts and objects from the Bronze Age to the Roman Empire. It is one of the most important coin collections in Scandinavia and contains more than 500 statues. The museum also has a small collection of Egyptian antiquities.
Highly recommended experience. A 20-minute bus ride (they have Wi-Fi), you should allow at least 3 hours to make the most of the trip.
Claudio M — Google review
I was impressed by the breadth of cultural artifacts on display in this museum. As a tourist, I came here expecting mostly bog bodies and viking relics, which they did have to offer. But the Museum of Ancient Art also has an extensive array of sculptures from early Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Civilizations. Would have gone much earlier if I knew they had as big of a variety as they do.

visiting aarhus u might want to visit this museum for antiek art. they expose chalk copies of famous Greek and Roman art. the museum is often visited by art students to practice their drawing skills. in the basement there is a great exibition on "passing to the other side" and trade routes in the Roman empire. though Denmark was never part of that empire though they found coins around here of that empire. intresting to walk through, takes about 1 hrs.

Fun and educational science museum with great interactive and interesting exhibits. Everything was new and working, and the staff was very kind and welcoming. Please note that it’s not the biggest museum, but still worth a visit.

I had no expectations but I was so surprised by this museum! They had really interesting and diverse expositions. From the stars to particle accelerators to nobel prize winners and epidemics. They are not scared to enter some controverse debates. There's also opportunity to interact by writing your opinion on these subjects. On the first visit I did not have enough time so I even decided to visit the day after :))
Sophie V — Google review
Amazing place for curious minds of all ages. It’s impressive how well structured is the information and the show cases in the space they had available. Only 1 small remark would be to give some attention to the garden and make it more cosy with extra green areas. Also to extend outside the magic they’ve created inside.
Adrian C — Google review
Had a great time at the science museum! There is alot to see and to learn. A lot of old and new inventions to see and interact. Also some expositions are with some adult topics, but for children this is a good learning and talking point! Very well done! Every exposition inside has English language options to read and was easy to follow. Only the planetarium speaker is Danish, but still I had a great time!
Jesse M — Google review
Generally a really amazing museum, through my many visits, I’d especially recommend to visit when the planetarium is hosting a seminar. There’s also plenty interesting exhibitions. If you’re visiting Aarhus, as a local I recommend going to this museum at least once in your lifetime among the other great museums of Aarhus.

A great start for young minds. Loads for children to get to know science by doing. As Einstein said "I have no talent. I'm just passionately curious" as children are. And so are some adults. Worth every penny

Kunsthal Aarhus, also known as Aarhus Art Building, has been showcasing modern art since 1917. With 1000 square meters of exhibition space, it is one of Denmark's largest venues for contemporary art. The museum features solo and thematic exhibitions, special displays for youth, and dialogue exhibitions between Danish and foreign artists covering various mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography, film, and video.
A very peaceful and friendly place to visit. It's simple art projects, installations, and paintings. I like the simplicity, lots of light, and that the rooms are not stuffed with art. I come especially in summer time, because art also is around this old aarhus institution. The art-building also houses concerts and artists' experimentarium. It's free entry. It's wheelchair accessible on all levels. There is a cafe place with snacks. You can sit inside and outside. Toilets are clean. It's very children friendly. I like to come here because it's surprising art, very modern and challenging. Friendly atmosphere

As a professional aquarium retailer I would have expected better customer care/service. After finding a suspicious spider within a blister pack, I informed the company what I found and that I was worried it was a non native species. The reply I got was, "you should buy the 1-2 grow pots in the future to avoid any pests". Nothing else, no reassurance that it would be safe or not. Poor service and uninformative advice that is just prodding for more sales. Now I feel like tropica are more for the sales than they are for the hobby itself..... I'll make sure I "avoid".

Marselisborg Castle, also known as Marselisborg Slott, is a stunning summer residence for the Danish Royal Family. Nestled in the Memorial Park with picturesque views of Marselisborg Forest, this over 100-year-old palace boasts English-style gardens, sprawling lawns, and beautiful lakes.
Marselisborg Castle in Aarhus is the Danish royal family's summer residence, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The lush park with sculptures and blooming flowers offers a peaceful escape. You can enjoy the gardens when the royal family is not present. Its serene atmosphere and scenic views make it a charming spot near the city.
Hariom M — Google review
We visited Marselisborg Castle during a one-day stop in Aarhus while on a cruise, and it ended up being one of our favorite places we saw all day! Getting there did require some effort—we waited quite a while for a bus and then had to walk over a kilometre—but it was absolutely worth it. The castle grounds were incredibly peaceful and picturesque, and we were pleasantly surprised to be the only visitors there for most of our time, which made it feel like our own little private royal estate. A few others arrived just as we were leaving. The gardens and trails around the property are beautiful and very well maintained, and we got a kick out of seeing 6–8 automatic lawnmowers quietly doing their thing all over the lawns—it felt like we’d stumbled into the future of landscaping! One thing to be aware of: if you’re using Google Maps to head toward The Infinite Bridge afterward (which is nearby and also highly recommended!), the app might tell you there’s a path leading out the opposite end of the castle grounds. That is not correct—there is only one way in and out, so plan your route accordingly. All in all, this was a peaceful, scenic, and unique experience, and we’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Aarhus—especially if you're looking to combine a bit of royal Danish history with nature and quiet charm.
Celine L — Google review
The environment here is beautiful and comfortable, truly refreshing. The lawns are meticulously manicured, vibrant with lush greenery, and brimming with life at every turn. What's even more delightful is the scattering of vibrant sculptures throughout the grounds, each seemingly telling a story, inviting you to pause and admire. This is absolutely a fantastic destination worth your time to savor and explore to your heart's content!
Chang-Chih S — Google review
The gardens are very nice, large fields, not many flowers though. You can't visit the castle itself. Taking into account that the entry is free of charge, it's definitely worth visiting if you are around.

The War Museum Besættelsesmuseet in Aarhus is a great place to learn about the occupation of Denmark and Aarhus by the Germans during World War II. The museum is well-done and takes two hours to go through all of its exhibits. It is underappreciated, but worth visiting for anyone interested in learning more about this important part of Danish history.
Having been to other WW2 museums across Europe I didn’t realise that Denmark was occupied. The museum was very insightful the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. The interactive parts to the museum were very well done.

Very well thought out museum. Tells a complicated story with great honesty and a lot of nuance. You are well received and given an introduction to the museum in either English or danish by knowledgeable people. You can get an English guidebook, which can help but is not absolutely necessary if you read a bit of danish. The id-card accessory you get functions as a nice red line to guide you through the museum.
Floris H — Google review
Great small museum on the subject of the German occupation of Danmark 1940 - 1945; extremely dense information on a fascinating subject; superb and engaging presentation, including multimedia and interactive elements, but also original exponats, like weapons and uniforms; presentation challenges your viewpoints and invites discussion about ethics
Martin K — Google review
Really interesting museum about the history of the city during German occupation of WW2. It is well organised and you need around 2 hours to tour yourself around. The only drawback is the lack of English text scripts in the exhibitions. You can take a Notebook from the ticket office with all the info in English but you have to carry it with you and read it in front of every display. Thankfully the videos have English option.
