A really friendly pub with a good selection of draught beers. I enjoyed a pint of Edelweiss, but wasn’t sure what to try next. The barman very kindly offered me a taste of a few other beers and I decided on Anarkist. The garden was lovely.

There was no drinks menu but the staff could fix pretty much any drink we wished for. The place is quite small and half of it is smoking area so wouldn’t recommend to people who are trying to avoid big crowds or be smoke free. Otherwise it has quite a cozy atmosphere and cool bartenders

A wonderful taste of Denmark. The food is traditional Danish fayre and very good. Bar staff were very welcoming. I shall be coming back to Aarhus regularly and intend on making Peter Gift my bar of choice.

A proper place to come and hangout. And the story of "Peter Poison' is golden. If you are in the area, go visit.

Went there when it was rather empty. Service was good and food was quite good as well. I had the beef stew, which was a little salty but well balanced with the mashed potatoes. Just a little dark in the pub itself, which made it difficult to see.

Love this place. Best Guiness Irish Stew I've had in a long time! Great atmosphere and wonderful staff!

EDIT: We went again. This time the experience was much better, the sandwich and wings were awesome and we even stayed around for a few drinks after. I'd love to go again if this is what I'll be served. Ben, the staff, was awesome! Went for dinner and was pretty excited, what a let down. The price is crazy. It is super expensive!!! We had starters (which was massive and nice only reason for one star), but the main was horrible. The pulled pork burger was super dry and fatty and the normal burger was raw. The staff was very sweet but kinda hard to grab the attention of, so we weren’t able to tell them about the food. After I paid (almost 900DKK) she asked how the food was and I told her it was horrible and burger was raw. She said “oh sorry” but that was it. I have regretted aince that I didn’t walk up to them before and told them the food was horrible. Wouldn’t recommend.

Absolutely five stars and a plus for the kind and professional service. Whiskey sour was top notch, steak as ordered and bloody decent size not to say big. Seasoned less than more to allow your inner steak lover to adjust it as you want. Free coffee above all else. Chips and the sauce were just as good. Highly recommended. Will come back. Definitely.

Okey, guys have cool old furniture and good whiskey choice, as I suppose. But. Along the popularity (more than a thousand of reviews!) there are crowds and long wait for a waiter. And it was a super ordinary Moscow Mule :) Chose beer or whiskey here.

Classy bar! Great staff and the regulars were welcoming. It's a great place if you want to get some affordable drinks, or want to spend a bit more on some top shelf beverages. This is a must visit in Aarhus! I'll be back for sure.

If you are free on Sunday afternoon in Aarhus visit Waxies and enjoy a great session of Irish music. As a bonus you can watch premiership sports on a big screen without commentary. The bar also sells beer at reduced prices for the duration of the session.

Weekday prices (Sunday to Thursday) for a draft beer for only 44 DKK - amazing!!!! This bar is extremely calm and well received if you are coming here for beers with friends and want a nice conversation (weekends is something more of a club I can imagine). The selection of beer is a majority all under the Carlsberg Group, but they have a very good selection of different beers! Bartenders are extremely friendly and good at their jobs.

The reason I am sharing this is the mistreatment I have had during my visit. Manager claimed I don't buy anything, that's why I have been cancelled to sing in the kareoke after the first song which this happened after 2 Danish guys wanted to sit where I was sitting which I allowed them to but they wanted all the seat to themselves so they could talk to girls and they felt entitled because I was drinking water after I bought my bear. They complained that I don't buy anything and went to the manager. The manager that said I didn't buy anything said I cannot sing then after I showed my receipt for the things I bought, he was like you didn't buy enough. He also complained that I take his time in a manner which I was being blamed for. I will definitely go for a formal complaint. Unacceptable 👎

If you come for the karaoke, you shall expect that it’s always delayed when it’s advertised to be scheduled on a specific time. So there are just thinking about money and not the customers. This is sad to have this experience before I am gonna have one of my feet in a cast for 6 weeks!!! It’s sad to see what Waxies has turned into after they got new owners. If you want something better then go to Lucy’s or Golden Lion.

Ben the quizmaster has wrong answers to his quizzes which is very unprofessional, and as well he is very rude and doesn’t start karaoke on time, and says it’s in that period it will start, and not from 22. Never go to this place, it’s a waste of time!

Nice selection of beer. Typical pub atmosphere, occasional music and weekly karaoke. Looks like popular place with locals. Belgian Pale Ale is my recommendation. Nice seating place on the street to enjoy the summer with a glass of beer watching people.

Really good food, only the dessert i was not that fond off. It was white chocolate mousse with pear but someone thought it was a good idea to mix in some Tonka beans... I WAS NOT! this amazing mousse with really good marinated pears got destroyed but the beans. Would not recommend if you don't love beans. But the rest of the food was world class.

I had dinner here as a dine-in guest and ordered a shrimp dish and a burger. The shrimp was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff were incredibly polite, clean, well-dressed, and very hardworking. The environment of the restaurant is beautiful, with a nice option to sit either inside or out on the balcony. However, the burger was a terrible experience. The first time it arrived, it was completely raw inside. I asked for it to be cooked more, and they kindly brought me another one. That one was slightly better cooked, but still raw in the middle and had a very bad smell and taste — it made me feel nauseous. I asked them again to cook it more, and they brought yet another burger. They even kindly offered me a free drink while I waited. But unfortunately, the third burger was still not edible. I couldn’t eat it, and the entire plate was left untouched. Since eating there last night, I’ve had an upset stomach and feel unwell. The meat had a very unpleasant odor and taste. That said, I truly appreciate the effort and kindness of the staff — they tried three times and were extremely respectful throughout. They also insisted on not charging me for the drinks, which I really appreciated.

It's very nice to come to and have drinks. The staff is professional, hasn't changed👏. Unfortunately this time the food was so disappointing the food. We love to come to this place, we enjoy the food, wine the atmosphere, thats why we keep on coming back. It has been a while , so we (4 persons) decided to come have dinner. We had tapas, and it was tasty, no doubt. The price doesn't match the portion of the food. They have reduced on the portions of the tapas that you have to have double or triple to be full🙄. Seriously, it's too much that i don't want to come back. I hope I'm not the only one who has noticed!!

We ordered a Piña Colada to share for 290kr. When we got our Piña Colada it tasted awful. It wasn’t even close to being a Piña Colada, the taste reminded us of danish Koldskål or lemon milk. We drank about 3 sips, payed and left. We never plan to return again.

The food was very tasty. Small portions as you’d expect from tapas but I felt smaller than expected. The crab gratin was overpriced at 110kr for a tiny dish without much crab and no bread or cracker to dip. The chef likes salt. A lot. I have no problem with that except when you don’t bring water to the table and you can’t get water without paying for it. Ok - looked like that was going to be some sort of charity donation when the bottle came, but still. That much salt needs plentiful free water. Overpriced for the amount of food but all did taste very good. The star was the shrimp “hotdog”

The staff were attentive and nice. We ordered a vegetarian brunch and a regular brunch. They subbed the hot dog and croque monsieur with a polenta open toast. The romesco sauce and scrambled eggs were notably delicious. The warm cinnamon waffles were satisfying and the mango dip was perfect! Highly recommend this place for brunch!

This is your run of the mill standard brunch/lunch/dinner place. The food was ok, but we walked away hungry, the service is young and unskilled but friendly, the location is of course perfect.

OUTSTANDING WINE BAR My wife and I have been here several times. And this place continuously impresses us. The service staff is open, polite and professional - and most importantly they like to talk about wines- and they seem to know a lot. So it is always a pleasure to go here for wine and a snack - and a talk about wine. It seems like the place is always full of people - so better book a table if you want to go.

Lovely little wine bar hidden away from the masses. A few seats outside but very tasteful decor and an all round picturesque setting. On this occasion, whilst my partner sunk into some bubbles, I only fancied a beer (there was only one available but it was delicious). The service is top and it's well worth the visit

In the center of the city this small bar offers a good selection of wines. It's an easy going and quiet place for a fun night out. They have an okay selection of wine by the glass, but when it comes to port wine the selection is limited, as is the knowledge of the wine. Price-wise it's a bit expensive. However, the glasses are generously served.

Last night, while we were trying to decide what to drink at Herr Bartels, I saw the bartender preparing a cocktail and called out to ask what it was. After ignoring me several times, he signaled me to be quiet with his hand and didn’t even bother to ask what we wanted to order. I’ve never felt so humiliated. Needless to say, we left the place. I sincerely hope someone reminds that kid—who thinks he’s a bartender—that he’s not working in a library.

Used to be the best place in Aarhus. Seems like a good place to work at though when instead of taking care of the guests workers on and off shifts just drink and chat together instead. Cocktails are simply bad.

Great staff and a friendly vibe from visitors. Drank 12 Long Island Ice Tea, went home almost sober. The deal 2 for 1 is great, a shame they contain primarily cola 🤷🏼‍♂️

went for my birthday. very hot inside. i took my shirt off and kept dancing strongly. a girl touched me complaining for my being shirtless. i kept having fun (how entitled to ruin others' fun). then the big boys came up to me with a torch, pointed at my chest, i asked "WHAT?" under the music and they held my wrist behing my back like an arrest; i was asking why: "because i was shirtless?"; i then rewore it, they kept pushing me out; a second gladiator came to me, about 200 kg and 370cm together, wide chest, strong pushing (i'm half one of them), kept pushing me out in front of my friend. if you're a masculine man, don't take off your shirt there, even if you're melting, cuz some unwritten rule brings the big boys to you to gently bringing you out, LOL. also why callint gbar (from Gaybar) if mostly straight couples go there? whatever, i had fun but i'm not going back. very safe place, i was the only one actually dancing, the others were barely moving

It started like an amazing night, it ended as a nightmare. The security guards were a bit aggressive and overbearing. Things took a turn for the worse when they called the police and we were "searched" because of a misunderstanding involving a empty beer bottle that a friend had accidentally placed a piece of chewing gum in, mistakenly thought to be drugs.

The best wine place in Aarhus! Friendly and helpful staff, great spirit and good wine! A real plus that you can taste your wine until you find the right one and drink it on the harbour site when the weather is nice.

Visit this place in the summer to get tapas. I tried both their fish and their meat dishes. And you can buy a glass of wine for only 50 dkk. The staff I really polite and know a lot about the wine that they have in a stock.

Worth a short walk out of town to the marina area to relax and sample the tapas boards in this winery. Tapas choices are simple but all very good cheese, meat or seafood and a choice of self-serve wine by the glass or drinks. Service was excellent and super friendly.

Good to explore wine. Every few months they change their menu and seasonal bottles allowing you to discover new wines if you come back once in a while. The waiters know quite a bit about wine so don't hesitate to ask them.

Very decent place. It's quite busy and small, so it's a bit loud in there, but still nice enough. They had the option to make the sandwiches with ryebread for free, and that was nice. Can recommend if you need a bit of food, as it is alright.

Very cosy place for something to eatand the ffod tasted good. But the coffee was burnt. And tested a it burnt and watery. And as the coffee cooled down it became ok. The foaming of the milk was missing the creamy tast and there couldn't blend the coffee. But the food and service was great.

Holy moly this place is awesome 😄 they have an happy hour offer where you get two drinks for the price of one. But the drink offer changes every month, however this bar is such a nice and flexible place, that when my girlfriend and I was there we found out that the offer of the month wasn't our taste, but they compensated us with a drink we liked. 🔥😊 good bar service if you ask me. 😊 Last but not least their frozen strawberry daiquiri is soo delicious 😋

TL;DR: Expensive and bland food. Don't waste your money or time here. The brioche bun was completely dry — crunchy — and the rest of the contents of the burger amounted to: mayo, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, veggie patty and a slice of cheese. Nothing sour to balance it out because they apparently forgot the pickled onions that they advertised on the menu, and absolutely nothing to really give it any kind of flavor or edge. A flat, depressing and sad excuse for a burger. Especially at 155 kr. (That did include fries — they were as good as the burger...) The staff performed at the bare minimum. Nothing too bad, but also nothing to make you feel welcome. The atmosphere and decor is as anonymous and unimaginative as the food — so that's a perfect match. None of us got food poisoning, so they've got that going for them.

Decent breakfast at ok price. Good coffee. However even after ordering breakfast and coffee, I was refused a glass of tap water. Reason given by waiter was that management would fire her if they found out so had to pay for an over-priced bottle of water. Not sure if this is standard practice in Aarhus but soured the experience.

Been curious about this place. We went for drinks, the snack platter and the tapas platter. All super tasty, fresh, so much food and well priced. The young guy working there was very friendly. Nice relaxed place.

I have come here occationally for many years. The atmosphere is always cozy and I definitely much prefer to read here than reading at DOKK1 or other modern libraries. They also stay open longer. I am usually more hyped by books I find in Faktum or secondhand stores, but the good thing is if you can't find a book you want to read then there is also a second hand store on the other side of the road. I also like their sandwiches, although after having tried the same time too many times I feel the need for a bit more variation. Great place to bring friends or to go alone to read/write.

The café is in two sections, the book store in the front and the wine room in the back. Very distinct atmospheres, both really nice though. A great place to read a book or hang out with a friend or two. Ordered the "sausage and cheese for two", which comes with a bottle of red or white wine. Very nice selection of meat and cheese. One thing you should be aware of though, buying two sausage and cheese plates and a bottle of wine seems to be cheaper than buying the set. That's not very nice and does subtract from the experience. Response to response: the wine we got was priced at 149, so 90+90+149=329. I understand that may have been a mistake by the staff.

We were four people having Tapas Plates, and they were actually fine, but served with the words - i´m sorry, but we have no more bread than this - and we had less than one person eat in 5 minutes. Really fun cocktail experience—definitely not something I expected to find in Aarhus. The atmosphere is excellent, and the service was also very good. For the drinks, my review is a bit more mixed. While there’s lots of creativity, the taste didn’t always match the presentation. Also, not every drink has that big visual impact, as many come in pretty simple glasses.

Definitely overrated. Had a cool interior, staff were nice but maybe a little outnumbered. Drinks were pretty average, nothing special. Most of them were put with gimmicks to distract you from their mediocre concoction. One of them is literally just Prosecco with candy floss on top… I had the popcorn one first, based off recommendation, tasted of nothing, I had suggested they use Nixta corn liqueur in it instead because that tastes exactly like it. They did however take it away and off our bill which was very generous. I had then had a take on a rum old fashioned which was pleasant but tasted watered down and lacked depth from which you’d expect from the extensive list of ingredients. There are definitely better bars in the city.

AWESOME COCKTAILS SUPER SERVICE My wife and I have come here several times. From when they first opened up until today - and we will continue to return. The cocktails they make always surprise you - always something astonishing new. And they ALWAYS taste really good. Last time we were here was in JUN 2025 with friends and family. And we got a chance to sample… a lot. Definitely worth while a visit.

Mia is a champion cocktail maker and she makes a killer martini! You can tell there is a real focus on quality and the bar has a great vibe. Highly recommend - up there with the great cocktail bars in much bigger cities.

But reducing my score because I was surprised the server didn’t offer a taste of the wine before pouring (as you often get in other wine bars), it meant that I ended up having a wine on his recommendation which I didn’t like very much. Also the red wine was served too cold :(

Unfriendly staff at the door, wanted me pay for storage of my jacket. Funny thing is I was already inside with jacket earlier where they let me keep my jacket.. After getting some fresh air, and more people coming in, the attitude changed.

They tried to lure us in with the promise of 2 hours of all you can drink beer for 50,-, and then later said we had to buy a table package to get it. It was mentioned nowhere on the marketing material at the place, or on their social media. So do not get lured in by their daily concepts, as these are apparently dependent on a minimum spending of 950,- for a table.

This was the first bar I went out with my classmates when I first visited Aarhus and we were nothing but satisfied. Great drinking deals for students, very cheap prices and amazing people. The music is fantastic and upbeat. Guaranteed fun.

Misleading and unfair marketing. We had been told that we should buy a table package (at least 950 kr) in order to activate their "daily deals". It was not like that before. Don't visit this place unless you want to be ripped off or support such business.

The best place to go on Wednesday and Thursday when you’re a student. All you can drink offers for each day! Highly recommend this place.

Great place for students to meet new people. A lot of various events so that everyone can choose what they like. And they have very student friendly prices compared to other places in Aarhus

though a student association, they offer a very wide selection of speciality beer such as gauze boon, a very rare to find beer anywhere in europe except Belgium. so u love beer down for snack or just a quick talk, a good place a true hidden germ.

Small And cozy place, good selection of beers, and in the heart of the city. Not exactly a typical English pub, it suddenly comes to life during the Aarhus Jazz Festival. Really like the atmosphere and the enthusiasm.

This is probably the most authentic English Pub in Aarhus, with a great atmosphere and a vast variety of beers on tap as well as bottle - some carried permanently and some more seasonally. The pub is split in to two sections, one being a "typical" bar and one with two dedicated dart lanes, has a substantial outside seating area and - especially during the late spring to early autumn - often have live jazz music.

Nice little pub in the center of Argus with lots of beer choices. They have many, local craft beers on tap and a good selection of bottled beer. You can smoke inside, so it's not a stop for everyone, but I did enjoy it. Hoping to go back later in the week to try more beers.

Great beer and service. Cockney is always a great experience. Interesting variety of beer on tap. Good service and interesting people. Sometimes has excellent live music.

Really good wine selection for drinking/ tasting in the cozy bar or buy and bring home for later. Competent and professional service for wine in any price range. If you want to talk wine this is the place to be.

Great place for a glass is something. We usually get a glass of bubbly and throughly enjoy the selection. The service is wonderful. The seating is not super comfortable but very trendy and nice interior in general.

On Tuesdays they offer 40kr glasses of wine. The staff are also super nice. There's a big outdoor seating area which is really cozy.

We went to Pinot store and wine bar. It has a very nice atmosphere, with very decently priced wines per glass. The owner is extremely pleasant, helpful and definitely contributes to the nice atmosphere. I will sincerely recommend a visit here for a nice glass of wine.

Bar & wine shop. Staff is well versed in the wines they stock and very very nice. They also organise private wine tastings for groups of 5-6 ppl. If you want to take part in one of their own events, you'd better make sure you get your tickets ahead of time.

The food (tapas) is very low quality. The dried cuts are very cheap and the bread is very boring and plain. They told us that tapas + 3 cocktails were 300kr, but they were 370kr. The service was confusing and not helpful. The cocktails were not very balanced nor interesting. I do not recommend.

Sunday nights English language stand up comedy is fantastic fun. The bar staff are super friendly and the selection of drinks is outstanding. They also do Danish stand up Monday through Thursday. The atmosphere is wonderful and the basement bar vibe is spot on.

I have been here only for standup comedies every Sunday at 20:00. The place is nice, but it's underground.

Went on a stand-up english comedy noght. Nice place, as it was free, I did expect the drink prices to be higher, and they are definitely quite high. But it is a cozy place that feels rustic and homey.

We went there for the stand up comedy evening, but we couldn't find the entrance to the place. There's no instructions how to get there at all. We arrived at the address and searched for the entrance for 15 minutes with no effect. Considering it's in the cellar, there should be a sign or some other guidance, we also tried calling the place but got no response.

Don't be out off by the unpretentious exterior – inside this bar has friendly, knowledgeable staff who make really unusual, interesting, tasty cocktails served in a relaxed, cool atmosphere. The Tarrentino theme is unusual but really well done and integrated into the drinks menu.

Great coctails, and great service! The bartenders help out if you find it hard to choose from the many delicious options of the coctails, also if you are like me and do not know what all of the ingredients are. Been there twice, it is surprisingly chill and quiet for being this well located. Small place, does not have much food or snacks, so don't go there hungry 🍹😌

What a gem! Amazing, unique drinks with so much personality. We had the chance to try 8 different ones and each had blown us away in taste and presentation. The staff was lovely and we will definitely return!

Great little cocktail bar. Cozy atmosphere and the bartenders know what they are doing. You are also instantly served a glass of water when you sit down, which is always a good sign.

What a great place to get a drink. And it is inspired by Tarantino movies. How cool is that? This isn't your standard bar/drinking place. It's more a unique place that feels like an old well known friend.

Agreed with another comment. Last week was with my friends(mixed races) waiting in the queue and when our turn came in to go, the guard suddenly increased the age limit to 25 from 23 since one of our friend was 24. The funny thing is we were inside the week before. If it's not discrimination, then idk what it is. Stay away if you're not danish.

Even though we had our physical ID (I’m 28)the security didn’t let us in and was very rude. My friend had a bride party and he just ruined it all . Don’t recommend at all .

Dont come in with squeaky shoes becos you will get bounced out. Decent place in aarhus but wouldn kicj people out if shoes are sqeaky.

Drinks are real skinny. The staff doesn’t seem to care much about servicing customers. If you’re lucky enough to find a table you might get asked to leave, because the tables “has been purchased”. It’s a cliche of a night club.

Great atmosphere, music and entrance is free - you have to pay 35kr for your jacket or hoodie to be kept if you have one. There is a dance floor, not too big, but okay!

Nice drinks, nice decor, good music!! Only downside is getting your expensive drinks poured all over you by the high number of insanely drunk (and rude) people. The dancefloor is a circus.

If they change the seats so bigger bottomed persons could fit comfortably, it would get a 10/10 💞 my French wife and me the Icelander would gladly visit again!

Fun place with the wine and petanque, but the serving was an vit slow and the tapas is missing some more choices, there where 5 different thins, all tasteful but i was missing dried ham and vegetables to accommodate the fatty sausages

Hyggeligt place to enjoy a glass of wine and play petanque. They have a small selection of board games and a tempting selection of wines, as well as niche local spirits.

Great wines and fair prices. Nice to be able to play petanque indoors while tasting wine. If you're only going to come for petanque you will be a little disappointed as the petanque area is not that big and the ceiling is a bit low.

Nice and cozy, but they should put the fresh air more often in.

Amazing Bar!!! If you go there you’ll definitely have a great time. Be careful though, the decorations may not suit all people, but the music is great nonetheless.

Fun place. It was the better ones in Aarhus. The cocktails were good and the bartender was Nice. The music was meh but it was ok considering what the crowd likes. However what’s the deal with the « F poor people «? Writings on the walls by the Club. Is it irony or something I don’t understand. Seems quite insensitive. Ur club do what u want. Just don’t understand if it’s irony or legit

Cool place, but very discriminating.. we booked and paid for early bird tickets and a table on New Years, and still they refused to let us in.. Although we have been there several times and never caused any problems, we are not welcome there. If you are looking to have a good night in Aarhus, then this shouldn’t be your destination, since your night won’t be guaranteed. If you however want to contribute to racism, go here.

Terrible service. We were forced lo live our purses and jackets in the wardrobe and were charged way more that we were supposed to. Later they let people in with jackets and big bags. The staff were rude when we tried to talk to them about it. Once inside the place was dirty and the sofa sticky. After a while sitting at a table they tried to kick us out because the table was "reserved" but there was no sign in any of the tables in that part of the bar. Won't be coming back.

I would give 0 stars if I could. They don't let you in if you don't leave bags and jackets in the wardrobe, I was forced to pay 120dkk alone, total ripoff. When I tried to ask why, they treated me as if I were stupid (specially the manager they have, very unfriendly). The sofas were dirty. This place has seen better days. Not coming back.

Really nice Bar/Club but unfortunately the girls at the wardrobe are really rude! Normally I don't care about the staff in a club, but in this case I would rather choose another club/bar next time

Best bar in Aarhus. Comparing to bigger clubs in bigger cities it's mediocre but it's nice to have something close.
