The ARoS Aarhus Art Museum is a prominent art museum located in Aarhus, Denmark. It houses an extensive collection of Danish art from the 18th century to contemporary works, as well as a diverse foreign collection featuring renowned artists from various countries. The museum's striking exterior resembles a floating red-brick box and spans ten storeys.
I definitely recommend going to this museum. They have unique sections and any art lover would truly enjoy this space. There is something for everyone. The last floor has an amazing view and you can walk through a glass that changes colors. It’s quite a dynamic museum and they have a great gift shop as well.
Keti A — Google review
The building itself is pretty cool. Some of the exhibitions are nice. They have headphones but only in Danish. The roof top sky walk is fun to take photos of.
Irene K — Google review
suppose I hate modern art as most of this was dreadful to my eyes. I did like the landscape paintings and a few others but most of it was weird, bad or just utter nonsense. The two women cutting onions was the biggest joke they called art. I don’t get the rainbow roof either, so what? It’s tinted glass, for kids or Instagram/TikTokers it may be good but not for adults.
Rob — Google review
♿ Entrance = Yes ♿ Parking = Yes ♿ Building = Yes ♿ Elevator = small / medium sized The aarhus art museum is what I was looking forward to see for awhile now and I got the chance to do it today. I was a bit disappointed from the expectations as they do have 10 floors but in reality only 7-8. The highest floor has the rainbow colored glass and This is definitely the best part of the museum in my opinion. 2 levels below it as the human art which was decent. The floor below it was okay. And all the other floors wasn't worth checking out. 2 floors were for a younger audience. So if you're going as a family it may be worth visiting all the floors. If you're all adults. You may not stay there for super long. They have a cafeteria and toilets as well as Free WiF, they have a button that slows down the rotating door which is good for bad walkers or wheelchair usersi. It's not a bad place but not a super interesting one either in my opinion.
Crafo — Google review
Beautiful museum. A lot of stairs, but there are elevators available for people with difficulty to walk. We loved the interactive art area. We appreciated that the front desk employee warned us for a scarier exposition on the third floor, since we brought our child. That way we could avoid it. What could have made the experience so much better would be if they’d implement a play area for young children. Young kids can get bored or overwhelmed and it would be nice if they could de-stimulate in a play area/child friendly area. That way someone can watch the kids in the play area while the other can enjoy art in peace. The rainbow panorama is very noisy. This could trigger you if you’re sound sensitive. Best is to bring some kind of noise cancelling for a better experience. There was so much amazing art in this museum. It’s definitely worth a visit. Parking is a bit difficult. We went on a workday and there were very few parking spots available.
Manita P — Google review
Lovely Art Museum with a lot of modern art. They have a significant collection of Danish artists. Currently there is a Picasso and others on the display. You can also see Andy Warhol’s art there. On the top of the building there is a Rainbow Panorama which is very interesting. Art is spread over 10 floors in the building. Parking is not a problem around the museum. Inside you can have a coffee and a light meal.
Rafal K — Google review
Walking into ARoS feels like entering a soul. Not a building. A soul. There’s this weight in the air — not heavy like sadness, but like meaning. Like emotion stretched out over canvas and sculpture. Like a mirror you didn’t ask for, but couldn’t look away from. 🪞💔 You walk past massive human forms, surreal tunnels, and sometimes... just emptiness. But the kind that makes you want to cry and laugh and fall in love all at once. Every room feels like an emotion you once had — or tried to forget. 😭💗🖤 And then… then there’s the rainbow panorama. The city is below you, silent, distant, still... and you’re walking through color. Through emotion. Through perspective. Through the prism of your own heart. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Every step changes how you see the world. How you see yourself. You start yellow, full of joy. Then blue… melancholic. Red… passionate. Green… calm. It's like mood rings for the soul. I walked that circle three times. Once with wonder. Once with longing. Once just to cry. 🌈🔁🫂 This isn’t just art. It’s emotional warfare. It rips you open and stitches you back up with neon thread. 🧵✨

Incredible installations, both permanent and temporary. The rainbow panorama is also great fun. In my opinion, a must visit in Aarhus

The Viking Museum, located at Sankt Clements Torv 6 in Aarhus, Denmark, offers a free and interactive experience celebrating the city's rich Viking heritage. The museum features excavated artifacts dating from the 10th to 15th centuries, including a fully reconstructed house and an actual Viking skeleton. Situated below a bank, this small yet enriching space provides an educational outing that ranks high on the list of what to see in Arhus.
I loved this fairly small local museum. It has a lot of local history that really makes walking the streets of Århus meaningful and inspiring. Look for the sign in order to find this museum.
Dan M — Google review
Lovely but small (service) museum (1 hour of reading and exploring everything), but most lovely thing is it's actually located on exact excavation spot, describing life in viking settlement, especially local one. With locations of craftsman, ramparts and how the local dug houses looked (with one replica).
Václav S — Google review
Too small, no staff to help explain the place. Fully self guided. Mostly a satellite location for the moesgaard museum. The place is also quite dark, to protect some of the artifacts in the museum, so do take note if you are ever there. But generally you can give this place a miss. Most of the exhibits are in the pictures, so just save the money and buy yourself some souvenirs instead.
Kelvin T — Google review
This museum was great at separating fact from fiction. Vikings were primarily fishermen and farmers. Exploring came as a natural extension of looking for new fisheries and fresh agricultural lands and climate.
Kim H — Google review
The Viking Museum lives up to its name and then some. You will feel immersed in Viking lore walking through its halls, a large quantity of artifacts in here are in a truly impressive state of preservation. The bog bodies plus extensive captions make this a visit here an enriching anthropological experience.
Martin G — Google review
Very small one room museum. Interesting info but not much to it. No guide or gift shop. Tickets are self purchased once you walk down the stairs but no one checks if you’ve bought one.
Rebecca K — Google review
This place can be hard to miss as it's an anonymous door with a sign outside and the top is like a building site. Only stairs down to the room. It is more like a one room exhibition rather than an actual museum. Price was DKK30 but ticket machine was broken at the time so did not pay anything. A good initial setup but needs to be larger.
Vin C — Google review
It is small, yes. But we spend ca 30 minutes there and it is a place where Vikings once lived. Not to expensive. Worth a short stop if you can spend time.

Aarhus Cathedral, a Gothic church dating back to the 12th century, is dedicated to Saint Clement and features stunning fresco-covered arches. The city of Aarhus offers a plethora of attractions including ARoS - Aarhus Museum of Art, The Old Town open-air museum, Botanical Garden, Marselisborg Palace, Moesgaard Museum, Tivoli Friheden Theme Park and more.
Denmark’s longest church is definitely worth a visit! It’s just middle of Aarhus . Remember to climb to tower which is around 150 steps to top and its cost like 10 dkk. Than you will see the gergouse view of the city ,unfortunately my short time I could only make it to see inside of church . It’s like 525 years old . Such a beautiful details inside . I can say that u can easly spend an hour for the see all church. Highly recommended…

We visited Aarhus for the day while on a cruise, and Aarhus Cathedral (Skt. Clemens Kirke) was one of the most impressive sights of our short stop! Located right in the city center, it’s impossible to miss—its towering spire dominates the skyline and draws you in from blocks away. Dating back to the 14th century, this is Denmark’s largest church and an important historical landmark. The exterior is beautiful, but stepping inside truly took our breath away. The architecture is stunning, with high vaulted ceilings, intricate woodwork, and centuries-old frescoes that have been beautifully preserved. You can really feel the history in every detail. Even with limited time in the city, this cathedral was well worth the visit. It’s peaceful, awe-inspiring, and gives you a real sense of Aarhus’s heritage. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or simply want to take in a quiet moment while exploring, Aarhus Cathedral is a must-see. Highly recommended if you're visiting the city—even just for the day!
Celine L — Google review
If you come to Aarhus, you should come here. You can feel the grandeur of the cathedral. You can get in there for free and it was 5kr to go up to the tower. You can see the view of Orhus. But I didn't go up.
웅냥냥 — Google review
Beautiful cathedral that had organ music playing when we came. Lots of amazing frescoes to pore over. Free entry and free toilet. Read their brochure for information on why there is a ship hanging in "the ship" part of the cathedral or why the patron saint is holding an upside down anchor. The entry to the clock tower was unfortunately closed when we visited.
T.N. — Google review
Fantastic cathedral , free to enter although I believe there is a fee for climbing the tower. Lots of frescos, tombs and art. If you are there when the organ plays it will blow your mind. If worth a visit and there are toilets too
Kevin M — Google review
Fascinating cathedral with many frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries (also one from the 1300s!) and a unique altarpiece created in the mid-1400s. Take your time in here, there is a lot more to see than first appears. Buy one of ylthe pamphlets at the entrance in order to really appreciate this well-preserved cathedral.
Julie C — Google review
The most interesting part were the wall paintings and the delicately made wooden doors. There were many sculptures too. Almost like a museum, full of history.

The Aarhus City Hall is a beautiful, architecturally unique building that is reminiscent of communist buildings from Eastern Europe. The staff at the city hall were incredibly kind and helpful during my international marriage procedure.
What an incredible building. Just beautiful, inside and out. We booked a tour through the visit Århus website and I'd highly recommend doing it. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and so passionate about the building and history of Århus. We got to go up the tower and saw the most incredible views of the city. It's a perfect example of Danish modern architecture and absolutely stunning!
Aoife C — Google review
Aarhus City Hall was completed in 1941 from a design by architects Arne Jacobsen and Erik Moller. It was designed to replace the Old City Hall, built in 1857, which is now home to the Museum of Women's History. The building includes a 196-foot tall tower and a tower clock with a face that is almost 23-feet wide. The city hall is made with concrete plated with grey marble imported from Porsgrunn in Norway. Architectural details are completed on the exterior in copper that has since been covered in verdigris. The entrance of the Aarhus City Hall is in the City Hall Park. The park includes a cobbled plaza and an avenue lined in linden trees. City Hall Square offers a fountain and a sculpture known as Ceres Bronden. The interior of the city hall has oak parquet floors, patterned ceramic tiles, glass walls and a large number of brass and bronze accents. Visitors can take guided tours inside the city hall on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Nikos G — Google review
The City Hall itself is stunning and with the tour we had access to areas that are not always open to the public. Highly recommend visiting this architectural gem.
Katie B — Google review

'The Infinite Bridge' in Aarhus, also known as Den Uendelige Bro, offers a serene and intimate experience with its circular wooden pier that extends into the sea. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking seaside views and a sense of solitude while taking a leisurely stroll along the bridge. Originally part of the Sculpture by the Sea festival in 2015, this art installation became so beloved by the locals that it was reconstructed as a permanent fixture.
Cool and something different. The deer park around the corner was awesome and a short walk we stumbled on this bridge and beach. Really lovely place and worth a walk!

This is an ideal destination for families seeking a refreshing aquatic adventure. It's a vibrant community hub where laughter echoes as parents and children splash in clear waters, creating unforgettable memories. This safe, welcoming locale offers a delightful escape, promising hours of joyous interaction and playful splashing for all ages.
Chang-Chih S — Google review
We were visiting Aarhus for the day on a cruise, and The Infinite Bridge was high on our must-see list—and it absolutely lived up to the hype! Getting there took some effort: we waited quite a while for the bus and then had to walk over a kilometre from the stop. But once we arrived, the setting made it all worth it. The bridge is located close to Marselisborg Castle (which we also loved), so it makes for a great double stop if you’re exploring the area. The bridge itself is such a cool and unique piece of architecture—a perfect wooden circle stretching out over the water in Aarhus Bay, offering 360° views of the coastline, city, and surrounding forest. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and really makes for some incredible photos. One surprising thing we learned is that it’s only up seasonally, assembled each spring and taken down in the fall—so if you’re visiting outside those months, it might not be there! Despite the bit of a trek, it ended up being one of our favorite stops in Aarhus, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature, architecture, or just a scenic place to relax by the water.
Celine L — Google review
Beautiful. Wonderful. Take the Bus from the City Center, find the Bridge either along the shore or after a stroll through the nearby forest. A fantastic sight from the Bridge!
Barbara F — Google review
We loved the simplicity of this bridge. People brought their coffee or snacks down to the bridge and sat on the edge looking out over the water. It was very peaceful
Susan N — Google review
I went there twice during my stay and it is a must if you’re discovering the area. Very peaceful, you can sit anywhere you like. A bit less pleasant where there is a lot of people on the bridge thought. Bring your swimsuit!

Museum Ovartaci, located in a psychiatric hospital dating back to 1852, offers a unique exploration of Danish psychiatry history through exhibits and artwork created by patients. Named after a patient who spent over five decades at the Aarhus psychiatric clinic, the museum showcases 850 artworks and items that provide insights from both doctors' and patients' perspectives.
A wonderfully curated permanent collection, knowledgeable and welcoming hosts that ensure you walk through the exhibit informed and engaged. I highly recommend visiting this gem of an institution for a glimpse of some fascination local history and art.
Marko J — Google review
I thought this was a very insightful museum with exhibitions of patient artwork and historical items relating to psychiatry. However as an international visitor I could only view at items and artwork with a little understanding as it was only in Danish. As a person involved and interested in mental health issues this disappointed me.
Janet W — Google review
Fascinating experience. It is a profoundly interesting exhibition. Highly recommend to anyone visiting, and living in, Aarhus. We visited here during our stay in Aarhus and were presently surprised as how fantastic this museum is. It’s only 10 minutes from the city via public transport and really reasonably priced. We spent a few hours here in awe of the detailed history of Ovartaci’s life and artistic works. The artwork was incredibly profound and thought provoking. I came away astonished that I had not known of the history of Ovartaci and his art. The staff at the museum were also great, very friendly and accommodating. I think everyone should support this important exhibition and the causes it represents.
Toby — Google review
Brilliantly curated, fascinating museum. Extremely knowledgeable and interesting staff, phenomenal artworks, placed in context of wider perceptions of mental health/illness and the history of psychiatry. Well worth visiting. Great little bookshop on site too.
R S — Google review
Bottom floor has an art collection (quite ok!) and the top floor is a bit chaotic collection of rooms with furniture and items from the hospital's past: a library, printing room, dining room. Do not expect to witness a real historical hospital ward.
Marcin L — Google review
Quaint and intimate museum in the old school of journalism. The story about Ovartaci and the psychiatric ward is both moving, scary, amazing and so much more. The museum contains lots of original artifacts from the hospital. Great displays. A small garden with wildflowers and a small fountain lets you contemplate on what went on in the mind of Ovartaci. Well-stocked museum shop where you can get a cup of coffee and ice cream - and rest in furniture taken from the old psychiatric hospital.
Morten B — Google review
Watch out! The exhibition is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1 to 5 pm! Right now the most artworks are in Venice Biennale, so the collection is small. It is also situated in a new building now, not in clinic anymore.

Super cozy and hip place tucked away from the main street! Great place to get some work done, and the food and drinks are also really good!! A big plus is the rooftop terrace as well, which is just a great place to meet some friends

The atmosphere is great here - whether inside or on the rooftop. Great vibes!! They have a nice selection of food and beverages - even canned fish and fresh bread. Their coffee is great. The only minus is that it took about 40 minutes from we ordered the coffees til they got served…. Can probably be done a bit quicker…

A Perfect Spot in Aarhus – LYNfabrikken I had breakfast at LYNfabrikken in Aarhus, and it was such a great experience. The atmosphere is creative and relaxed—ideal for a slow morning or a catch-up over coffee. I ordered breakfast along with a chai latte, and both were absolutely delicious. The Museum of Ancient Art (MAA) is a museum in Aarhus, Denmark, which showcases ancient Mediterranean casts and objects from the Bronze Age to the Roman Empire. It is one of the most important coin collections in Scandinavia and contains more than 500 statues. The museum also has a small collection of Egyptian antiquities.
Highly recommended experience. A 20-minute bus ride (they have Wi-Fi), you should allow at least 3 hours to make the most of the trip.
Claudio M — Google review
I was impressed by the breadth of cultural artifacts on display in this museum. As a tourist, I came here expecting mostly bog bodies and viking relics, which they did have to offer. But the Museum of Ancient Art also has an extensive array of sculptures from early Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Civilizations. visiting aarhus u might want to visit this museum for antiek art. they expose chalk copies of famous Greek and Roman art. the museum is often visited by art students to practice their drawing skills. in the basement there is a great exibition on "passing to the other side" and trade routes in the Roman empire. though Denmark was never part of that empire though they found coins around here of that empire. intresting to walk through, takes about 1 hrs.

Park
University Park in Aarhus is a vibrant green campus area that offers a serene atmosphere for most of the year. In April and May, it hosts the lively Kapsejlads boat race, attracting thousands of visitors for beer chugging competitions and chaotic rubber dinghy paddling. The park's southern exposure makes it one of the sunniest spots on campus, with ponds adding light and movement. Despite rumors about its polluted lake, the park remains a popular hangout spot for picnics and parties.
Amazing place in summers to have chilled beer and fresh air together by the small lake beside.

Aarhus University brings back so many memories of studying, exams, parties and long walks and lunches in the University Park. If you want to experience Danish university life, this is where to do it. It’s full of life, charm, and good times. The yellow bricks on the buildings always makes you in a good mood

Aarhus University, established in 1928, is a multi-disciplinary campus with a strong emphasis on research. Situated in Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city and often referred to as the world's smallest metropolis, the university is located at a historically significant river mouth. The campus architecture seamlessly blends into its surroundings within the University Park and Nobel Park, offering an aesthetically pleasing environment for students.
Clean and organized campus. It’s like a park without fence surrendering and quite with no many people!

If you're on the hunt for mouthwatering Neapolitan-inspired pizzas in Aarhus, look no further than Pizza Boys Godsbanen. This charming spot prides itself on simplicity and quality, ensuring that each pizza is a delightful experience. The crust is fluffy and perfectly charred, with a thin base that allows high-quality toppings to shine through. Diners rave about unique combinations like picante salami paired with pesto arugula, although some suggest improvements to the pesto's texture.
Excellent neapolitan style pizzas for a fair price ! Fluffy and charred crust with a very thin dough, topped with high quality ingredients. Only complaint would be to please clean the tables, even though the staff wasn't busy there was plenty of dishes and leftovers on the tables just sitting there.
Alexis — Google review
I planned to just try a slice before driving home & finish the rest there, but the pizza was too good. I ended up eating both whole pizza pies in my car, right there in their parking lot. Zero regrets! Absolutely worth it.
S. R — Google review
It's located next to a lovely river and offers a great experience. I think this is the best and most delicious pizza in Aarhus. You can also get delicious water self-service. I don't have a photo, but the potato and zucchini pizza is also my favorite.
不破正仁 — Google review
Apologize for the bad photo but the pizza was very nice. Great dough and the ingredients were also good. I had a 50/50 picante salami and pesto arugula pizza, and I thought that was a great mix. They forgot my chili but that’s okay. The pesto could be better, it was a bit on the dry side, but I think the price to quality ratio is good.

Visitors have praised the hospital's well-organized emergency services, with minimal wait times and efficient transitions to specialist care. The modern facilities and compassionate staff have left a positive impression on many patients, who commend the hospital for its professionalism and life-saving treatments.
I was pleasantly impressed by the good organization of the emergency service. Although the waiting room was packed, we didn't wait too long for our turn to be taken over by the doctor on call. Being sent to the ward to the specialist doctor, everything went just as quickly there. I am glad that the organization of the emergency service is much better than I would have expected! This is to the advantage of the patient!

One of your “doctors” Khalil Ahmed Rafiqi is a thief. He illegally rented out an apartment to me in Copenhagen and still is keeping 47500dkk to this day. He has threatened me numerous times and is psychologically unstable. This person is uneducated, disgusting, unethical, and is a threat to public health and safety. He is not to be trusted around patients or administering medical equipments. It is a shame that such an esteemed hospital employs highly unethical people to “care” for patients. Stay safe everyone!

(Translated by Google) Super AWFUL service, so lousy you can't even call it service. My girlfriend and I had ordered 3 pictures at the beginning of June (the two of them were ready, we just needed the last print to be made). We were promised a 1-2 week wait, after 2 weeks without a word I tried to call but it kept going to voicemail. Therefore, I sent an email to which they never responded. Now I was getting really annoyed, so after three weeks without a word I go down there, where Annemarie promises that everything will be ready in a few days. I still hear nothing and soon don't know what to do. After another week, she calls and says they should be ready on Saturday, but she just calls so we don't drive in vain....Saturday came and went and still nothing. I can absolutely NOT recommend Lyrums. They have such bad service. I can live with them being art snobs, but that they keep promising they'll call and then don't. It's not ok. Stay away from them!!

The Aarhus School of Architecture is a remarkable institution that offers an enriching environment for aspiring architects. While its exterior may appear simple, featuring exposed concrete and glass, the interior reveals a treasure trove of design details—from innovative lighting to thoughtfully crafted spaces. The library's wooden construction adds warmth, while the displayed works and vibrant cafeteria create a lively atmosphere. This space not only nurtures creativity but also plays a pivotal role in shaping future architects who will contribute to Aarhus’s architectural landscape.

Great school. Lots of technical and artistic experience being charged into the students. Ranges from large-scale city/landscape architecture all the way down to design. Great workshops, studios and actually a great semi public canteen.
Ejnar B — Google review
This is a rating of the school building itself not the education here, but this school was pretty uninspiring when I visited for potentially applying here. It’s a huge concrete building with roofs so high you fell small and insignificant. The interior is depressing and lacking of details, especially weird for a more «artsy» architectural education. The library and little shop with school supplies was a fantastic touch here, but the cafeteria was open and empty, did not feel really inviting to sit down here. It’s also located in a confused and scrapyard type area, not really my taste.

(Translated by Google) I had booked an appointment for photos at the store in Aarhus, but when I showed up, the store was closed, and no one had contacted me about it. I had to call them several times myself – without it being taken. After several attempts, I got hold of an employee who told me that there had been a mistake, but no apology was ever made. However, I was able to get an appointment right away. The photo shoot itself went well, but afterwards I discovered that the wrong things were written on the receipt. I called and was told that it didn’t matter, because the right thing had been ordered, so I had to ask for a new receipt myself with what I had actually paid for – otherwise it would be my problem if there was a mistake on the product later. He first tried to explain that it was because a discount had been applied – but that wasn’t the case. I was also told that he knew that the wrong things had been written on the receipt – I’m surprised that they didn’t correct it right away. I was told when I made the purchase that I would receive my order within 10-15 business days. When 15 business days had passed and I had not heard anything, I called to find out how far along the order was. I was told that I would be called later – but that did not happen. I called again a few days later and was told that I would be called by someone from Copenhagen who would have more information – but that did not happen either. I then got a hold of a woman from the store in Aarhus who was able to tell me that the order had been finished and should be shipped soon. A week later I also received a message from UPS that the package was on its way. I then discovered another error, because my address was written incorrectly. I had not written my address myself, but had given it verbally when ordering in the store. I called Iris Galerie Aarhus again, and I got a hold of the same woman. She called Copenhagen and then informed me that the person had called UPS immediately. A week later I was waiting for my package, which was supposed to be delivered that day. This time I called UPS myself, who told me that the address had not been changed. The package could not be delivered. I called Iris Galerie in Aarhus again and got a number for the person in Copenhagen. I described the whole process and said that I did not think it had been okay. The person started by angrily telling me that UPS HAD been called. However, it sounded like it had only happened the day before I was supposed to receive my package. There was no regret about how the process had been. I therefore asked if he would acknowledge that the process had not been okay, and the answer was: "Some mistakes have been made, that much I can accept." I told him that – based on the repeated mistakes – I did not think it was fair that I should pay full price. However, he was not at all interested in accommodating me. The person sounded extremely irritable throughout the conversation, and he even laughed at me at one point. It took 26 business days for me to receive my order. The only positive thing I have to say about my experience with Iris Galerie is that the female employee in Aarhus was welcoming and seemed interested in helping. The product was fine, but a bit blurry/grainy. It was definitely not worth the hassle or the money.
