Restaurant
Food court
Aarhus Street Food is a vibrant food court located in a former bus garage, drawing inspiration from London's Borough Market. The venue offers an array of international cuisines, including Italian, Mediterranean, and Turkish options. Visitors can savor Thai treats, crispy pizzas, fish & chips, Scandinavian meatballs and more at traditional Danish long tables. Additionally, Aarhus Central Market provides the opportunity to purchase Danish delicacies and freshly prepared dishes to go.
I had the chance to visit the Aarhus Street Food Market during a one-day stop while on a cruise, and it was absolutely worth it! I had seen several YouTube videos highlighting the market and made a point of including it in my short time in Aarhus—and I’m so glad I did. It definitely lived up to the hype. The market is located just a short walk from the train station and is cleverly housed in repurposed shipping containers, which gives it a cool, industrial vibe that fits perfectly with the laid-back but lively atmosphere. There’s a great mix of indoor and semi-outdoor seating, making it a comfortable spot to hang out whether it’s sunny or raining. What really stood out was the incredible variety of food options. From traditional Danish smørrebrød to flavorful Thai noodles, fresh tacos, juicy burgers, and more, there’s something for absolutely every taste. The international flavors are authentic and well-prepared, and I loved that you could see each vendor putting care and heart into what they served. I ended up trying a few different dishes to get the full experience, and everything was delicious. There are also drink options, including local beers and specialty cocktails, and plenty of spots to sit and enjoy them. The market was clean, well-organized, and had a vibrant, welcoming feel. Whether you're a foodie, a casual traveler, or just looking for a memorable place to eat, Aarhus Street Food Market is a must-visit. Would 100% recommend making this a stop—even if you're just in Aarhus for the day!

So many food choices! It's worth stopping and enjoying the cuisine. Summer days make the outside lively with folks enjoying food, drinks, and ice cream. Inside, there is a primary bar and another for non-alcoholic drinks, and on warm days you'll find more seating. Pick from a variety of food, some Danish but many others too.
Michael M — Google review
We loved it here - great food options for all tastes including vegetarian and vegan. There was cuisine from across the world as well as Danish food and some nice bars and coffee shops. We visited during the day when it was child friendly and there was plenty of space available.
Tim J — Google review
Excellent food hall located close to the main train station with so many different food options available. I had the falafel wrap from “Zaatar” and it was good. Personally the bread was a bit too flakey for my liking, but still good and the portion generous. Recommended!!
Ben S — Google review
Perfect place to try different cuisines in Aarhus. They have many stalls like Mexican, Indian, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Middle East and many more. There is indoor and outdoor free seating available. The place is self serve and very functional. Must try: Thai curry, Nachos, Falafel wrap, Japanese Bao and Savory crepes.
Shubham G — Google review
Aarhus Street Food is a fantastic concept that brings a diverse array of cuisines under one roof, creating a vibrant, multicultural dining experience right in the heart of the city. The atmosphere is lively, with friendly staff and plenty of seating, making it an ideal spot for locals and visitors alike to enjoy a wide variety of flavors. Its central location also makes it easily accessible, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or meeting up with friends. I had the chance to sample dishes from Japanese, Middle Eastern, and British stalls, and each one delivered on quality and taste. It’s clear that a lot of attention goes into ensuring each dish feels authentic and satisfying. From fresh ingredients to carefully prepared spices, every dish offered something unique and flavorful. One area that could improve the experience, however, is the payment system. While you can order online from all stalls on the same website, payment still has to be made separately at each stall’s counter. This makes the process slower and a bit inconvenient, especially during busy times. Having an option to pay online as well as order would streamline the experience, making it quicker to pick up your food. For example, at Wolf Food Hall in Brussels, which I recently visited, both ordering and paying could be done online, which enhanced the experience significantly and encouraged people to try even more dishes. All in all, Aarhus Street Food is a must-visit for anyone in Aarhus who wants to explore a variety of flavors in one spot, and with a few adjustments to the payment process, it could become an even more enjoyable dining experience. I’m looking forward to returning and seeing how it continues to evolve!

A MUST VISIT This is a great place to visit. Plenty of small street food cars - lots of choices. We have been here several times, and we always have a good time. They do also have public restrooms - normally nice and clean. There are indoor as well as outdoor seating areas. Definitely a must visit when in Århus.
Dan M — Google review
The place to go when none of your family members/friends can decide on one thing to eat, just go to this place and everyone can order what they want. Once you order at the food stand of your choice you get a buzzer so you can go back outside/to your table and wait until the food is ready. I had been craving korean fried chicken for sooo long on our trip so when I saw that they had it here I was so happy 🥹 + you get actual cutlery and not just plastic ones!

Restaurant
Restaurant Hærværk, which means "to vandalize" in Danish, has been making waves in Aarhus since its opening in 2014. The dining room is a sight to behold with its striking lighting and cozy sheepskins. Embracing the New Nordic cuisine, the restaurant prides itself on using fresh seasonal ingredients from local farms and suppliers for their ever-changing menu.
Amazing food, pleasant service, excellent wine, and great informal atmosphere. Hærværk really deserves its Michelin recommendation. We were six in our party, bit even though the remaining seating was otherwise full of happy guests, we had a superb experience with perfectly prepared courses served timely by the most friendly waiters and cooks (I suppose). Only the best memories, I will most likely come back in a different season to experience what else they might have to offer.
René S — Google review
Besides the amazing fine Dining, I realy love the philosofy of this restaurant: “bottom up” Leadership where expertise ook cooks is recognized as true value and moreover the “no waste” vision: go with the catch of the day/season and accellere creativity with cooking on what is available. SIMPLY LOVELY ❤️❤️
Timo V — Google review
What an incredible culinary journey. You’re welcomed to the restaurant with a full explanation of their sustainability initiatives and surprise 5-course menu. The courses change regularly, but our were: the snacks, beef tartare, white asparagus, cod cake, wagyu beef, rubarb desert. All of the dishes were extremely unique and well described by our servers. Highlights for me included the mini hot dog included in the snack, the beef tartare which was creamy and tender, and the wagyu beef which melted in your mouth. The wine pairing was also fantastic and I would highly recommend it. The servers were VERY generous with their continuous pours throughout the night which was greatly appreciated. Lastly, all the servers were super kind and informative. It’s no surprise this restaurant has a Michelin green star and I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a red one soon.
Kyle L — Google review
Thank you for the most wonderful evening! The Hærværk team is passionate about culinary experience and using the local resources respectfully. This was tangible in every course and we absolutely enjoyed being surprised by every course. We were so lucky to meet one of the chefs, Rune, who discussed the core temperature of celery with us and how to turn a delivery of 150 eggplant into the most delicious filling for pasta. The wine pairing was a great choice and I want to especially point out the superb non-alcoholic pairing with home made juices and kombucha. The apple based kombucha was the most delicious non-alcoholic beverage I’ve ever tasted!
Eva — Google review
We went to Hærværk yesterday and had a fantastic experience. Food was great, wines matched perfect, passioned waiters. Best dining experience in a long time!
Kim N — Google review
I feel so conflicted about this place. On one hand, the concept is delightful: the menu can vary on a day-to-day basis, depending on what ingredients they get. The menu is a surprise-- you don't get to choose beforehand. They focus on sustainability and low-waste food. The food itself is delicious, although it's the bite-sized food you can expect from such gourmet restaurants. Still you'll savor every bite. The wine choice was fascinating: I've never tasted such delicious and unconventional wines. Every dish and every glass came with a story of how it was sourced, and who produced it. Incredible. All of this is the reason for my conflict. This amazing restaurant kept building up delicious entrée after delicious entrée, and then the main dish was a huge disappointment. At least, it was for me-- my meat-eater colleagues probably got a great bang for their buck. This restaurant fell into the same tired old lazy trope of making the vegetarian dish the same as the meat dish, just without the meat. My friends got what looked like a delicious meat cut, meatballs, and gravy with a quarter of roasted cabbage. Me? I just got a bigger chunk of cabbage in a cheese sauce. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty good. But for a restaurant of this calibre, this price point, which boasts its Michelin stickers all over the restroom, it's extremely lazy, and honestly goes against its claims to sustainability. Vegetarian food is better for the environment than any meat source, regardless of how organic and local the cows are. Betraying the main vegetarian dish like that is way below what's expected of a place like this. So that's my conflict. On one hand, great concept, great food. On the other hand, the vegetarian dish is lazy and felt like the only thought behind it was "oh crap we have to have a veggie alternative, I guess they like cabbage right? Yeah more cabbage for them then". The dessert was really damn good though.
Santiago R — Google review
We loved our experience at Hærværk. You can tell that they spend a lot of time and attention into preparing each dish and it pays off. They serve their own take on new Nordic cuisine and it was simply delicious.

Restaurant
Restaurant Domestic, located in the Latin Quarter of Aarhus, offers a unique dining experience with its four- or eight-course tasting menu featuring locally sourced ingredients and house-made components. The interior exudes a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance with stone, wood, and warm neutrals. The menu showcases innovative dishes such as lobster with green strawberries and mushrooms, and beef with black currant and herbs.
A great restaurant that uses only domestic Danish ingredients located within walking distance of the centre of Aarhus. I came here a few years ago and not sure why Google keeps hiding my review. When you see the sign on the street walk straight through to the end and it's on the right! We tried the full discovery course with juice pairing. Staff were friendly and attentive and the chef showed appreciation of the food and great techniques. Highly recommend the non alcoholic pairings and loved the various snacks and desserts. The mains were slightly on the salty side, but maybe appropriate for the Danish palette. Has multiple rooms for different vibes and an extensive wine list. Recommend to go early week for a quiet experience or later in the week if you prefer to see more people. Highly recommend and will be back in the future! 😋😋👍👍
So M — Google review
It was our first Michelin starred restaurant experience and will go down as one of our most cherished memory The attention to detail from plating to drink pairings, while the staff explains to you how, where and why the ingredients were sourced, they almost envisualise for you a journey of the food until it hits your palate. This is fine dining at its best, and if you want to experience masters of their craft, this is where you go. My hat tip to the entire staff and chef, keep up the good stuff
Abinash P — Google review
If you’re into fine dining then this is definitely a must visit. The atmosphere and environment has a very cozy home style feeling to it which is what they are aiming for. The service is impeccable. It’s quite an experience. We had a 14 dish with 8 wine pairing dinner. It lasted about 4.5hours. The reason why I’m giving it a 4 star is that for some reason halfway through the dishes coming out were really salty. The dishes in the first half were amazing. It’s a shame because everything else was great.
Kwon — Google review
Over the years I've been to a few starry restaurants, and this one here is one of the best. I predict a second star is coming soon! Everything was impeccable from interior and atmosphere, through service and friendliness all the way to food and drink. I didn't lack anything at any point throughout the entire seating, and absolutely everything was a pleasure to digest. If the opportunity arise I would love to go again. Highly recommend.
Bjørn — Google review
One of a kind service and experience in a restaurant that only uses local (non imported at all!) produce. Visited in April and were lucky enough to be the only ones there so had the full attention of the lovely team. The lumpfish course was amazing. Also especially loved the care they put into their non-alcoholic pairings. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Ila — Google review
Very good restaurant in Aarhus with one Michelin Star. Unusual in that it only uses ingredients sourced from within Denmark; so, for instance, no pepper but locally grown alternatives. We had the short nine course menu with wine pairings all of which was excellent (obviously the wine is imported from outside Denmark!)
John J — Google review
Disappointed ... the food was just ok . The flavors did not pair well and were too bland in some dishes . The fish had bones and the cheese course had a very strong sour taste that we did not enjoy . The service was super slow and not attentive. Not worth the price and the waiting. Many things to be improve from the kitchen and service. Bread and dessert were great thought!
Alejandra E — Google review
It was a special experience, the restaurant is in a hidden place. The snacks were quite surprising me, the concept to put the bread as a snack which I didn’t understand but it’s ok. They are using some fermented foods during the service, I did like them, if someone doesn’t like the sour taste, it might be disturbed.

Fine dining restaurant
Substans is a renowned restaurant in Aarhus, Denmark that has been awarded a prestigious Michelin star since 2015. The establishment prides itself on offering high-quality craftsmanship and organic ingredients from local producers. Despite missing out on the Michelin star in 2020 due to relocation, Substans regained its status in 2021 after just one year of operation at its new location in Aarhus O.
The restaurant is understated and underrated, hidden in one of those residential buildings. As you step in, you’ll feel at home immediately, with the beautiful Scandinavian style interior. They also had an open kitchen concept, and you could see your food being prepared before your eyes. We paired our meal with the juice pairing and we were pleasantly surprised by the sheer variety of juices that they could come up with. The server managed to explain each dish to us clearly.
Kelly — Google review
Substans was one of our top dining experiences in Denmark-Sweden trip. It is located in the revitalized waterfront harbor area. It has a beautiful view and modern interior, for some reason the view enhanced our taste buds capacity as well. The staff of five worked in both the kitchen and dining area, and they were all excellent! The food presentation was wonderful, and the place offered a good balance between traditional Nordic foods, modern culinary approach and ingredients sourcing. it didn't disappoint us for choosing the place among the options we had!

Really lovely experience. Great location with an unbelievable view. Nice and warm service. Great food and very embracing expressions of taste. The 4 of us liked everything. You are feeling nursed and welcomed throughout the evening. No rush, just pleasant. The only thing i would like to see at step up on is the wine menu. There was definitely good ones in the bunch but i would like to see a higher level on some of them.
Rane B — Google review
The food was outstanding; fresh flavors with great intensity, and the portions were perfect - every one of us walked away perfectly satisfied after 15 courses. The interior makes it feel like you’re sitting in the home of Substans, making it very relaxed. Service is great, they were kind but not so personal. There were a few misses along the way but overall, we were really happy.

Coffee shop
Pastry shop
La Cabra is a popular bakery located in the charming Latin Quarter of Aarhus. Known for its sourdough bread and exceptional coffee, this cozy spot attracts both locals and tourists. The minimalist interior exudes luxury, while outside seating offers a chance to soak up the quaint atmosphere of Graven while savoring a slice of sourdough bread with Gammel Knas and enjoying one of the city's finest cups of coffee.
Simply the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’m a huge coffee fan and have tried coffee all over the world, but nothing compares to La Cabra. I’ve been following them for years, so visiting their shop in Aarhus — their birthplace — was a special experience. The coffee was exceptional. The music was at the perfect volume, the aesthetics of the space were beautiful, and the staff were professional and genuinely attentive. My girlfriend, who loves coffee even more than I do, even got emotional. That says it all. A must-visit for any true coffee lover.
Jeremias P — Google review
Very friendly staff, they spoke multiple languages which is helpful if a tourist. Cappuccino and almond croissant were excellent! Atmosphere is relaxing, very zen with a beautiful view of the cobblestone street and Bishop Square steeple!

Simply delicious! The food was so tasty and the coffee good. Very casual and relaxed atmosphere and the staff friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a breakfast spot or cafe in Aarhus.

Very nice coffee or lunch stop when visiting Aarhus! Really yummy coffee, sandwiches, and pastries! The place might seem busy from outside, but we found plenty of seating inside. With two we ordered an iced latte, a cardemon iced latte, two sandwiches with cheese, and one seasonal pastry to share. All came to our table really quickly after ordering. Delicious!
Felix H — Google review
I walked in and was met with a relaxing atmosphere. Once I ordered the wait was a bit longer than what I'm used to at other coffee shops. But the wait was worth it. It's got to be one of, if not the best coffee I've ever had. The music is relaxing and the staff are really kind. Would recommend 👍

The cinnamon roll is really tasty, full of flavor A bit expensive: 37 dkk The atmosphere is really good, they only have power sockets upstairs and no wifi unfortunately
Ceylin Ç — Google review
Awesome tea (green sencha tea) and buns (I think it was called kardemommesnurre, see photo)! I ordered at the counter, and they prepared the tea and brought everything to my table. The bun was delicious, soft, freshly made, tasty, moist, everything was perfect. The tea was wonderful, it tasted exactly like I would expect expertly-made high-quality sencha tea taste like; plenty of flavor and not at all bitter. Nice lively neighborhood, lots of people on the street, but the cafe was nevertheless not fully packed, it was easy to find a place to sit and everything was smooth and quick and very friendly.

Fine dining restaurant
Gastromé is a Michelin-starred restaurant in Aarhus that embodies the essence of New Nordic cuisine. The restaurant's decor and menu both reflect a deep connection to nature, with an emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients from the Danish countryside. Chefs Soren Jakobsen & William Jorgensen curate changing seasonal menus that highlight Scandinavian produce, some of which are grown in the restaurant's own garden.
One of the best Michelin star restaurants in Denmark! ♥️ As fancy as the taste is amazing. And the service!!! Wauw 🙏🏼☀️♥️

One to travel to. Fantastic meal made more impressive by them only being 3 people in the kitchen which is just mind-blowing. They are fully up there with the best on the food front. We had pescatarian versions menu and the two "replacement dishes" were above and beyond expectations. Service was excellent and swift which is important for us as we eat quickly. We changed menu from signature to full throttle the day before we arrived and my boyfriend then changed back when we had already started our meal. No problem. Really just fantastic all around.

We felt at home from the minute we stepped into the restaurant, and had an amazing evening with the Halv Gas serving. Exceptional food prepared with fine techniques that tasted amazing from the first to the very last bite. Very friendly and attentive servers that made the whole experience. We will definitely go back to Gastromé, but next time it will be to taste the Fuld Gas or the Signature menu.
Andreas D — Google review
It is an okay place. We were just by ourselves for lunch. Chanterelle amuses was good. And the starter fish with roses was also good. I think Danish counts the amuses as courses. So they said 6, but was really just 3 courses. bit pretentious. I wont come back.
Nike G — Google review
Certainly one of the best restaurants in Aarhus 👍 loved most of the dishes and they were certainly at the level I would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. The waiters were all very enthusiastic, engaged, capable and very likable. We will certainly come back for a second serving next time we are I Aarhus.

Food. Mexican food. Or.. a Danish interpretation of Mexican food. It was very decent! The staff is friendly and so are the clients. The burritos are not even close to 'mexican' food. the guacamole was literally GROSS, and the nachos seem cheap ones, when they cost like 40 kr. The churros were the most decent thing but still not super good.I wish I could get my money back because literally the food was not good AT ALL. I never leave reviews but this was so bad I have to.
Julieta M — Google review
The burrito was very average. The ingredients were not really well seasoned and the tortillas were very poor quality. I have to say that it is very bad that this is only place in Aarhus where you can eat Mexican food because lot of people love this type of food. And I wish this restaurant was at least decent.
Jacob — Google review
Hit and miss. Their quality at this point with the food is too inconsistent for me to want to keep ordering. They've too many times mixed non-vegan ingredients into the vegan food, and had the food taste just off, and once entirely tasting spoiled and inedible. If you're dining in person and can complain directly to the kitchen it can work, but not sure it's worth it if you're ordering out. Real shame since it's been quite good many times, but bad too often. Really a shame knowing their potential. The chicken pieces are usually solid at least.
Andrea K — Google review
Very disappointed. The burrito was pretty burned and contained a very sweet sauce. Not spicy at all, even though I had ordered it. The tacos contained raw (!) white cabbage. Seriously.

Very nice restaurant in Aarhus with a lovely atmosphere. The menu is absolutely delicious and to a very reasonable price. The service is like being at home, no rush and the menu gets explained in detail. The wine list is with many different options. This place you should visit when in Aarhus.

Perfect location for a 3 course meal. We loved the starter and the desert. The main course was less good but still enjoyable. The service was very friendly. We came around 19:00 and got a table without reservation, although the restaurant appeared to be rather full. Great location for everyone who loves seafood!

the food was phenomenal🥰🥰the service was great. the selection of options is very various; they offer a seasonal menu, and a daily fish position, from which we chose the salmon. also its nice that they serve brunch until 16:00.

I am sure the pizza can better because I have been eating in the winter. Unfortunately the pizza that I ordered last Saturday wasn’t the best. It’s the pizza of the month, the dough wasn’t very well cooked, too much stracciatella that completely liquified and extremely salty. The price also is too high. I will try again but maybe avoiding the monthly pizza experiments
Cinzia T — Google review
We went for the first time and it was not a great experience as we expected for the prices. The 3 course menu was fine, but nothing amazing. We had to wait more that half an hour between meals and ask for the desert twice. Waitress were fine, they explained us all menus. Really didn't make much sense for the price we paid.

Mediocre experience . Nice location. The ceasar salad was very tasty but the main dishes mediocre at best. The waiter was friendly but forgot to order the main dishes until I came and reminded him.

We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel concierge. It’s right around the corner from where we were staying and the area it’s in is quite nice. The place looks great and when we were invited to dine in the garden we were pleasantly surprised at the cozy environment there. Sadly the food and service let it down. The wait staff were great but our mains took a long time to arrive. Our waitress even deducted our drinks from the bill to compensate for the long wait. The kids had fish and chips which were pretty good. I ordered the lemon sole which is probably the worst I’ve ever had. It was so oily and the fish was probably over cooked.

Very good Aarhus restaurant. We had the short eight course menu with matching wine pairings all of which were very good. Danish dishes arguably with a French influence. Friendly and helpful staff.

We had a great eating experience with the tasting menu paired with juice. Good quality food, great taste and friendly service with a stories to follow the dishes. Prices are at the high end, but we found the experience to be worth it. 🙌👍

Extremely good! Very nice staff, good atmosphere and nicely decorated. Like the good apace between tables for privacy. The food was excellent (lunch) and very cheap per dish. Each dish cost the same just pick what you want and can eat. The only thing was the pace. It went too quick but when we asked for a slower pace they adapted. I would definitely go here again. A great experience all over which I seriously recommend.

I visited in Nordisk Spisehus in March 2018 and I'm only just getting round to writing a review but the meal will never leave my mind. My girlfriend and I visited for my 25th birthday and opted for the 5 courses, alongside some other accompaniments and a very nice glass of champagne. The menu has since changed but I wanted to highlight just how skilful the cooking is. At the time the menu had been jointly composed with Restaurant Daniel (New York, **). The experience is helpfully supported by a booklet so you can remember each dish! One of the most amazing dishes I've ever had was the Quail - Broccoli - Port - and a photograph is attached. I asked the waiter to talk me through how it had been prepared and all I can say is wow (partly because it was so complex I forgot half of it immediately). For me, this is why you go to restaurants - dishes you can't replicate in the home easily, if at all.

Located on the outskirts of Mindeparken and at the beginning of Marselisborgskovene, Restaurant Frederikshøj has held a coveted Michelin star since 2015. The restaurant's floor-to-ceiling windows allow nature to blend with the dining experience, offering guests stunning views of Aarhus' natural beauty as a backdrop to its gastronomic offerings. With space for 40 guests, it provides an intimate setting for diners.
'Had the great opportunity to dine at the ⭐⭐️ Michelin restaurant ‘ Restaurant Frederikshøj’ and was in for a treat. The combination of taste, craftsmanship, atmosphere and true art made this experience a fulfilling one. The staff were very friendly and had great knowledge of what drinks that were best combined with the food. This all together made me leave with a truly satisfied stomach, taste buds and smile. Highly recommend a visit.

Well deserved visit, your getting creed by the host and the kitchen team. The service is absolutely on point with everything going smooth and keeping you well informed, never empty glasses, always fresh clean table, no interruptions. They are there for the guests to enjoy each other's company. The food is less decoration plates with more focus on, elegance, quality and taste, especially the first 3 hand served food.

Outstanding dining... Beyond our expectations, which was already pretty high. Highly recommended. I'm really proud that we have a place like frederikshøj in Aarhus. It is the beacon of the highest level in gastronomy. The service was warm and really pleasant. Everyone was nice and performed very well. The servings were something that would be hard to describe without tasting. Simply perfection both visually and on the palate. This was the case for most of the dishes we got. We enjoyed the evening fully and will definitely consider coming back at some point in time... Thank you Frederikshøj

Food was good, not great. I’ve had better-tasting food in 1 Michelin star restaurants, in fact even ones without. Perhaps it’s the asian taste profile. But i will not take away from the experience. It’s still worth a try.

We had food at Frederikshøj for a 60th Birthday with a party of 10 people. I asked the sommelier attending our tables when would be the best time to hold speeches and was told that there are only 3 possibility slots, because dishes would be"flying out of the kitchen, back to back without breaks". Unfortunately the reality couldn't be further from the truth. We could have easily held speeches between each dish and not have such a fus among the other guests about waiting periods! Even after continuous asking the sommelier what the hold up is or when can the next speech be held without disrupting the kitchen, nothing but empty promises. My humble opinion, if I reach out to consider the kitchens goals of having a smooth delivery of dishes, then you should stick to your end of the bargain. Disrespectful service at best, event ruining at worst! I guess you can assume the outcome based on my rating...

Pondus is a Danish bistro located by the river in Aarhus, and it's the younger sibling of the Michelin-starred restaurant Substans. The restaurant offers a more affordable dining experience while maintaining high-quality organic ingredients. The menu features well-balanced flavors and beautifully presented dishes, with an emphasis on seasonal Nordic ingredients. Diners can choose from options like the daily menu, Pondus package, or à la carte selections.
I recently dined at a charming bistro in the heart of the city .The cozy ambiance, attentive service, and delectable dishes made for a memorable evening. Pondus is a hidden gem next to the canal in Aarhus. We loved it! The ”Bistro style place, specializes in farm to table with primarily organic/Danish ingredients. The tasting menu featured five courses all paired well with flavorful wines. The price is spot on with the service and quality of meal. The menu changes seasonally and the chef is accommodating for vegetarians and pescetareans. The standout appetizers and the braised free range pork belly and fried turbot tacos were outstanding! The service and knowledgeable staff really made the evening enjoyable. Pondus earns my five stars and glad to see a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Møf is a Danish restaurant located in the heart of Aarhus, known for its seasonal and carefully crafted dishes. The menu features three starters, three main courses, and three desserts, all prepared with a deep respect for seasonal ingredients. The restaurant's love for food is evident in its constant experimentation and development of new menus each month. For an immersive experience, guests can choose to sit at the bar within the open kitchen to observe the chefs at work.
I had the pleasure of dining at Møf restaurant and it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. The ambiance was elegant and inviting, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food they served, enhancing the overall experience. Each course was a masterpiece, showcasing exceptional creativity and flawless execution. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was nothing short of art. The wine pairing complemented the dishes beautifully, adding another layer of sophistication to the meal. This Michelin-starred restaurant truly lives up to its reputation.
Shais M — Google review
Stepping into this restaurant feels like entering a whisper. The atmosphere is nearly ascetic – stripped back to such a degree that every element appears deliberately chosen not to distract from what truly matters: the food, the wine, and the people. The walls are almost bare, save for six or seven discreet yet prominent Michelin plaques, gathered like a quiet altar to precision and success. Decoration is reduced to a single object: an enormous orchid in the center of the dining room. It stands as a symbol – of elegance, restraint, and the aesthetic ideals this place upholds. It feels exclusive, but in a subdued, almost shy way. A kind of confidence that has no need to show off. The staff displays remarkable expertise, especially when it comes to wine, it’s a sanctuary, and the servers are its high priests. Here, wine is not merely paired with food, but presented with stories, reverence, and a deep respect for both grape and ingredient. The menu is carefully balanced. One sheet offers a seven-course tasting menu with wine pairing; the other lists around ten à la carte options – enough for diversity without diluting the kitchen’s vision. The food is nothing short of sublime: technically flawless, yet warm, thoughtful, and steeped in feeling. Each dish tells a story, and the love of craft is palpable. And yes, they charge you for the water to :) A warm, malty sourdough bread arrives alongside water as soon as you're seated, setting the tone for what feels more like a conversation than a meal. And it’s in the small things that this restaurant speaks most clearly: the napkins are the softest I’ve ever touched, yet also the most wrinkled. It’s not carelessness – it’s a statement. Comfort is chosen over cold perfection, intimacy over polish. The only slight disturbance to the experience is the noise level. The room lacks obvious sound-dampening elements, and the ambient volume can grow tiring over time. Some hidden acoustic treatment would be welcome here. But beyond that, this is nothing less than a masterclass in how restraint, sensitivity, and unwavering quality can create something truly memorable. A restaurant that doesn’t shout its greatness – but whose voice stays with you long after the meal has ended.

They know what they are doing 100% great staff, location and delicious food and wine. We went for a la carte menu but great offers on set menu, I will highly recommend this place. Great time at Møf. Ordered the signature menu with wine. The front of house team notified us that they were slightly understaffed this evening, perhaps only noticeable by the reuse of wine glasses (i.e. sparkling and white in the same glass) and some different plates during the starter. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend this place.

Why the Michelin 2025? you enter the restaurant and immediately recognize the "fatty" and sticky air. the food was not tasteful enough, the portions were ridiciously small (Maincourse fish). Nestled in the heart of Aarhus, Raadhuus Kafeen is a delightful spot that offers an authentic taste of Danish cuisine. This charming eatery boasts a diverse menu featuring traditional dishes like pickled herring and schnapps, perfect for those eager to explore local flavors. A standout option is their lunch tasting menu for two, which showcases an array of fish delicacies, including two varieties of herring.
Brilliant place, for traditional Danish cuisine. Smørrebrød and non-smørrebrød are both catered to. I'm going to add just one photo of the food, it really says it all. Careful with the sizes, they are very generous, we were all unable to finish our main courses, even with a 10 minute break after the starters. I particularly appreciated the "tone" and attitudes of the staff, it really made it for me. I asked about the seasonal beer, and I was immediately informed "you won't like it". After sampling it, I had to wholeheartedly agree, it was some truly awful concoction.

The food here was absolutely delicious. You could feel the cooks knew what they were doing, and each dish was well-thought-out. We got both the vegetarian and the regular menu, and the vegetarian version was so good that it might’ve been better than the regular menu. They definitely got the different flavours perfectly balanced. The service wasn't that great. There was a long pause in service without us knowing, and some of the wine glasses seemed dirty. The waiters were alright, but they didn't seem interested in being there. Further, the atmosphere was okay but not anything special. Where we sat, we could hear yelling in the kitchen, which is never nice for a customer. This might just be unfortunate, but nevertheless, our experience. Overall, the food was the main attraction for the restaurant. If all you care about is the food, this place is absolutely amazing!

Small restaurant with friendly stuff. We were 3 and ordered the special 5-servings menu of the week. Presentation was good, ingredients quality was fine. We felt however that the taste didn't match the looks. The bread was really good, and the main dish (flat meat) was also pretty good. The rest was a bit dissapointing, lacking taste. There were a couple of interesting combinations, but theflavor was too weak. All in all the "price-quantity-taste" balance was not quite there.

Restaurant
Located on the charming Guldsmedgade, Restaurant Komfur offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere for a delightful evening. The decor features hanging copper pots and pans, creating a warm and homely ambiance. The menu is refreshingly simple, with a selection of five starters, five main courses, two desserts, and cheeses that change monthly.
I visited with my wife at Komfur Restaurant in Aarhus. It was a really good experience. The restaurant was cozy and warm. I liked the food variations because all five dishes brought some unique tastes. The staff was very friendly and the time between dishes was perfectly timed. I highly recommend this place.

We've had a wonderful experience here. I was able to reserve a table online and the staff read the comment I had left with that and they already had a menu suggestion prepared for us to get a taste of true Danish food. The food was delicious, the service outstanding and even though we came in super late, we were still asked if we wanted dessert. We felt greatly welcomed by the staff going out of their way like this. Thanks a lot!

Nice food, balanced selection of wines in the wine menu, but we were there at a busy time (Abt 20:00) where the waiter did not have the time to explain the food she served, until some of the guests started to leave and things got more quiet.

Really great food and wine at a reasonable price. Service was also very friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back!

Komfur is a place of cozyness. Danish “hygge”. The food is good. The price is right. Good choices of drinks, wine and coffee. Pleasent waiters. Great atmosphere. We’re going again.

We were 11 people who were fortunate to have served foie gras, confit duck and apple with marcipan ice cream. We got recommended wines and nice coffee. We sat in the wine cellar and got a great deal of service. Thank you for a clean gourmet evening with lots of goodness. We will be back.

The taste of the food were delicious. Well-preapred for the cutlery. Staff were friendly. However, the atmosphere was crowed, the distance of the table was quite too less.
Thanaporn S — Google review
Nice place but very cramped, not ideal for a dinner date with your SO. Adittionally watch what you order, though we're at fault we overpaid by a lot for a menu item despite the menu already being quite price as some dishes have added prices up to 110kr, so what would have been a dish for 160- ish ended up costing 270, which it is NOT WORTH. Save yourself some trouble and eat somewhere else, the food isn't worth the price or the wait. Staff are nice though.

Belli is a fantastic restaurant with excellent food, wine and service. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic evening out or to catch up with friends. The menu has something for everyone, making it the perfect place to indulge in your favourite French dishes.
Lovely place in Arhus with a lot of history of a circus Belli family. We were served by Mrs. Belli and enjoyed that a lot. We picked a mushroom soup with truffle oil, beef carpacio and moules-frites. Everything delicious. Worth visiting. Thank you

Surprisingly good quality at a very good price. We had the menu of the month.

Paid 40kr for tap water - my fault I asked for it without checking. Then charged an extra 50kr for fries & aioli that was stated on the menu to be included in the cost of my burger - my fault for not checking the bill before I paid it!

I’ve traveled a lot in our world and I tried a lot of restaurants in South-East Asia, Africa, the Americas both south and north, Middle East and Europe, this is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to, the food was top-notch and the ambience of the place is warm friendly and welcoming, the owners welcome you and give you a very personal experience, it is not a sit order pay type of restaurant - I highly recommend the break plate, freshly baked, mussels and the lemon tart - thank you very much
Tamara A — Google review
No reservation, just walked in, friendly warm welcoming. Fast and informative service with no stress. Short menu, no fancy over priced dishes, well prepared, aim is quality with some small details showing a will to stick out (without experimenting) The starter, mushroom soup was robust, tasty and with a nice touch of truffle oil. I got a extra portion without asking for it (nice service). Main dish, a nice Boeuf Bourguignon, with somewhat to soft mashed potato, making it together with the sauce a bit sloppy. Never the less very tasty. Desert, a chocolate cake with ice cream was on the paper a not so interesting end of a nice dinner. But I was actually, and surprised, impressed by the simplicity of it and balance of the flavours. The house wine, not assessed in detail, although it did good with the strong flavours of the food. The 5 star rating is for the package of the experience - service was good at a dinner not too little and not to much, with a very reasonable price for a enjoyable dinner, 250 DKK. (Wine excluded)

Langhoff & Juul is a cozy café located in Latinerkvarteret, known for its signature brunch offering a variety of delicious homemade dishes. The menu includes options like scrambled eggs with sausages and rosemary bacon, smoked salmon mousse, tarts, and morning cake. For vegetarians, there are alternatives such as confit mushrooms and veggie patties. The café places a strong emphasis on organic and sustainable ingredients used in their brunch dishes.
We’ve now visited Langhoff & Juul twice for dinner and have booked our next dining experience here for our upcoming trip to Aarhus. It’s our favourite dining place in the city - great atmosphere, incredible food and really knowledgable staff. The wine cellar is excellent and there’s a simple kids menu - a big hit with ours.

I had the "spinage package" for starters, which was great. The veal for the main was very chewy, unfortunately. The dessert was a rather peculiar form of ris-a-la-mande. Not bad!

An excellent brunch-offering - everything I sampled was tasty, and there's free refills on basically every part of it. There's also enough food there to fill mostly anyone up WITHOUT any refills, but it's still a nice policy - just in case there's some part of the platter you particularly fall in love with!

I was really looking forward to the brunch because it was a surprise for my girlfriend, who had a birthday that day. We did not like the taste of the food. My brunch could have been better, the tastes of the meal were weird. I have never experienced not liking food this much, I love food, and I eat everything, that is why I decided to write the review. However, still, it might be good for others. My girlfriend had a salad with shrimps. A salat for 170kr with the smallest size shrimps was a very weird combination (cheese on top of it). You might like the food, but if you are not used to it, it might not be a lovely experience. The staff behaved well.

Made a reservation and wrote in the remarks field that we would come with our dog since we were on holiday. I asked if that was a problem, and if so to tell me before we arrived. The reservation was confirmed without remarks. When we arrived, they told us dogs were not allowed. So we had to look for another restaurant.

SYV NI 13 offers amazing value, especially for Denmark. Despite some negative reviews, the food is consistently very good for the price point and the portions are generous. The sharing style creates a cozy and warm atmosphere perfect for a date night or social gathering. The service is dedicated and professional, with attentive waitstaff who introduce each dish with patience. The menu offers delicious food and great wine, while the relaxed atmosphere adds to the overall experience.
We did the set menu with wine pairing and it was incredible. The food was so clean and seemingly simple, but the flavor was perfect. The wine pairings were also very well chosen, our server was clearly well informed and had fun antidotes to share about the selections. I would absolutely love to eat here again, I'm heartbroken it's too far away to visit frequently. We would love to try the next seasons menu!

An overall great dining experience at SYV NI 13. The service was quick, friendly, and knowledgeable. All the dishes were tasty, but only a couple of them and the bread really stood out. It was missing a little 'je ne sais quoi' to reach a perfect rating.

Had a wonderful lunch at Syv Ni Tretten in Aarhus! We tried the beef tartare and the smoked white fish salad — both were delicious and beautifully presented. The fish itself was a bit salty for my taste, but when combined with the salad it balanced out perfectly. You can really tell how much thought goes into each element of the dishes. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. A great spot for a laid-back yet high-quality lunch — we’ll definitely be back should we be in Aarhus again.

Danish restaurant
Kahler Spisesalon is a cozy space where diners can experience the fusion of contemporary ceramic design, delectable Danish cuisine, and exceptional service. The restaurant showcases the world-famous ceramics of Kahler, which beautifully complement the classic and modern Danish dishes served on communal tables. It's an ideal spot to savor traditional Danish smorrebrod sandwiches. While not budget-friendly, the quality of the food justifies the price.
Arrived late to Aarhus and found this phenomenal little restaurant thanks to Google! Had the Flounder and tomato/ mozzarella salad. It was amazing! The fresh herbs were so fragrant and the staff was so attentive! We’ll go again tomorrow!
Stacy R — Google review
The Spisesalon is centrally well located in the city centre just a short walk from the train station, ideal if you want breakfast or brunch before travelling on. The restaurant itself is pleasant and bright and has bench style seating. A lot of other reviews complained about proximity to other diners, however I did not feel like the chairs were too close. This seating arrangement is more common in larger cities or in busy restaurants so will not be an issue unless you want a more traditional layout. The staff are amazingly friendly and provide service really quickly. We went on a Sunday morning for brunch and ended having the buffet brunch with the free coffee refills as it had a variety of tasty looking dishes. The food was delicious, light and healthy, a perfect way to start the day. The portion sizes are generous and allowed us to be fueled up for most of the day. My only reason not to give the full 5 stars is that I thought the prices were a bit on the higher side.

We came here for a late lunch after my brother's wedding. The atmosphere is cozy, the food was amazing and most importantly the coffee was the best I had in denmark. A must place to eat for any traveler who want great traditional eating.

A simple elegance that seems to an outsider like the best of everything Danish. The open sandwiches contain pleasant surprises to the palates of the diners who only think they know what awaits them.

Highly recommended experience. We reached the place via a recommendation in Lonely Planet and weren't disappointed. As a foodie I always like surprises and eating food I've never had before. In this case it was mostly the preparation but its not for everyone. The menu at Dinner is limited, just few Smorbrods, salads, one warm dish, charcuterie and various cheese

Restaurant Kohalen is a classic lunch spot in Aarhus, known for its traditional Danish dishes. The place offers authentic Danish dining experience with hearty menu choices and generous portions. Locals frequent this restaurant, making it a popular choice among business people and residents alike.
Very good place to try really good Danish traditional food for reasonable price. Friendly, smiling and helpful staff, big choice from menu. Big portions of well prepared, fresh and tasty food. Very cosy atmosphere. Nice terrace. Big and comfortable parking lot for clients. Restrong is really very busy, its better to book table in advance. Highly recommended.

Traditional Danish open sandwiches, seafood and other dishes. Not a young and trendy place, but one which will stay in a tourist's memory as an authentic dining experience.
Dougie P — Google review
Kohalen is a true gem for anyone who appreciates authentic Danish cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the focus on quality traditional food is clear from the first bite. Every dish reflects a commitment to simplicity and flavor, honoring Danish culinary traditions without unnecessary fuss. The tarteletter are a must-try — rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. If you’re in the mood for something more familiar, the burger is also a solid choice, with a Danish twist that keeps things interesting. And for the more adventurous, the schnitzel topped with horseradish and anchovies is bold and full of character — definitely not for the fainthearted, but a memorable experience. One tip: book an earlier dinner slot. By the time we arrived, they had already run out of the roasted pork — a classic you won’t want to miss. They also offer a great selection of Aarhus local beer and gin, which pairs perfectly with their hearty Danish fare. Whether you're a local or just visiting Aarhus, Kohalen delivers a satisfying and authentic taste of Danish tradition. A place that respects its roots — and your appetite.

Went there the other day for lunch and got a shootingstar, which was tasty and in big size. The surroundings is like walking back in a bubble to the 1930/40’s Denmark. It felt very authentic and the staff were friendly and dressed in uniforms matching the surroundings. Will try it again for evening service later.

Got a proper motherfu**ing bøf sandwich here, really big, lots of of everything, but cooked very well. Tasted amazing, had to take it home. Others at my table got the silt and loved it. Very nice staff, and clean area. There is outdoor seating aswell. When we were here there was about 45% capacity filled, but we had reserved about a table ahead, as many times before without reservations it was full. But you can try your luck on a weekday early to get in. I’m not sure how busy it is any other day, we went on a Monday.
Oliver — Google review
When we walked in, I noticed there were a bunch of business men eating then later we found out from a local, this was indeed their lunch spot. Not only that, I guess we stood out from the crowd, a local came up to us and asked us how we found this spot because only locals go here. Guess we found what we were looking for! Traditional danish food! We got a tasting which came with 4 courses and we were sooo stuffed at the end. As an individual who’s never had traditional danish food before, this was really good. The flavors are strong on the herring so if you’re not good with strong smell taste, you might want to pass. The steak dish was really good. It had lots of flavor and it was tender. The old cheese is also pretty strong in fermented flavor so if you’re not good with that, don’t order.
Mandy G — Google review
Ok - you want a real Danish lunch? If you're in Aarhus, you have to try this! I did the stjerneskud (traditional Danish fish plate). One of the two best of these I've ever eaten in DK. The cold smoked salmon and the freshly peeled shrimp added a perfect twist to a delicious traditional lunch. With more than 100 years of tradition serving the working men of Aarhus, the portions aren't exactly small. My 16 year old son ordered the beef sandwich with gravy. He had to give up and ask for a doggy bag - proof that these aren't small portions...😀😀😂😂 Atmosphere - so much soul... Service - nothing to put a finger on.

Hanzō Aarhus is a popular Asian restaurant located in an inconspicuous spot near Bruun Galleri. Despite its unassuming location, the restaurant can accommodate up to 200 diners and aims to be one of the most beautiful dining spots in Aarhus. Housed in a former bank and cinema, it offers a historic Asian ambiance.
We had an unforgettable evening at that deserves more than just a 5-star rating. From the moment we walked in, everything was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was vibrant with great music, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially Victoria, who truly made our night special. We opted for the tasting menu, which featured the restaurant’s top 10 favorite dishes, along with the tasting cocktail menu. Every dish was of the highest standard – mega delicious and impeccably presented. The food felt like high-class cuisine but at a price that didn't break the bank. The open kitchen added to the welcoming vibe, and the restaurant maintained a perfect balance of being lively without being too loud. The bathrooms were spotless, which is always a plus, and the overall vibe of the place was just right. It was great to see a mix of families with young kids and couples enjoying their evening. The highlight of the evening was the dessert course. Initially, the desserts served were not to my liking, but Victoria noticed this without me having to say a word. She went above and beyond to find something that suited my tastes perfectly, turning a great evening into an outstanding one. I can't recommend this place enough and we are already looking forward to our next visit. If you want an exceptional dining experience with fantastic food, great music, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to go!

Hanzō Aarhus delivered a fantastic dining experience during our family-style team-building event. We tried a wide variety of dishes, and while everything tasted good, some items definitely stood out more than others. The flavors were bold, well-balanced, and showcased a great mix of Asian influences. The drinks were equally impressive—well-crafted and thoughtfully paired with the meal. The lively atmosphere and attentive service made the evening even more enjoyable. A great spot for both group dining and special occasions!
Arturs M — Google review
Our experience at Hanzō was overall very positive. The food quality, quantity, price, and variety were great. However, we waited over an hour between the starters and main course; some cocktails were pretty underwhelming; and the table for two felt too small. Providing wet wipes for finger food would also be a nice touch.

Cute restaurant, staff is pretty young. Service was okay- nothing spectacular. The food tasted good, but what I didn’t like was that almost everything was fried in oil. And that is also how I smelled after that restaurant visit all my clothes everything smelled like I had been in a frying pan. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice though. Large, good design, cozy. Price was okay, but don‘t need to repeat my visit here.

Disappointed on my Son’s B’day - Unfair experience! We were a group of four adults, a 10-year-old, and a 2-year-old, visiting to celebrate my son’s birthday. While this was my second time here and the starters were good, they accommodated allergy requests, however the overall experience fell far short of expectations. We had looked forward to the full 10-course experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen the way we imagined. Despite arriving on time for our 18:30 reservation and being seated by 18:35, we didn’t receive our main course until 20:45. That’s over two hours of waiting unacceptable, especially with a 2-year-old in the group whose bedtime had already passed. To make matters worse, we noticed that other guests who arrived after us received their mains before we did. This left us feeling overlooked, frustrated, also felt we were treated differently. Eventually, we had to pack our food to go, which completely ruined what was meant to be a special dine-in experience for our family. Some staff apologized, We were offered complimentary drinks, but honestly, a drink doesn’t make up for the lost moments we came to share. We spent 2,000 kr for hanzo experience that ended in takeaway boxes, not the memorable celebration we had hoped for. We expected a lot more from a place like this. Unfortunately, we left feeling let down, ignored, and with a ruined birthday experience for our child.

Sandwich shop
Food manufacturer
Juice shop
If you're on the hunt for fresh and delicious food, look no further than Ffood! This charming spot specializes in vibrant dishes made from high-quality ingredients. Their standard salad is a delightful mix of baby spinach, tomatoes, and a variety of toppings like honey-roasted sunflower seeds and avocado. You can customize it with options such as chicken or salmon to suit your taste.
If you are looking for a quick bite and sort of "healthy" this is the right place. Their sandwiches are full of flavor and served in a flat bread (do not expect the usual heavy sandwich bread). Service is very quick. Be aware that if you are VERY hungry just one sandwich might not be enough.

Convenience, quick, simple and easy! It’s definitely an express Light Meal shop! Some simple sandwiches, juices and salads, but it’s pity that the nice veggie mixture plate is no longer available because of time constraints in the business. In general the taste of food is fine and healthy certainly. The service is nice and price is cheaper than other veggie restaurants.

Fantastic to-go choice, salmon sandwich tastes so good
Zhen H — Google review
One of the best and freshest sandwiches in town. Their half&half and chipotle tuna are amazing and my personal favorites! Perhaps use mayo a bit more sparingly but that might just be personal taste.

I came here with my husband and our two boys. The sandwiches were tasty and the juice energizing. Strong engifer shot and a cold brew and we were ready for anything! Amazing, fast and personal service.

Organic restaurant
Café Gaya is a popular spot for vegetarians, vegans, and those seeking gluten-free options due to its 100% organic ingredients. The cozy and colorful café offers a peaceful atmosphere, with its little backyard serving as an oasis in the city. Visitors can escape the hustle and bustle of downtown while enjoying their meals. The place is known for its healthy food options, making it a refreshing change from fancier dining experiences.
Very vegan, very organic and 100% cozy. Worth a visit, looking forward to trying the brunch some day. Other dishes are so far great 👍
Pierre J — Google review
I tried to get some info about the menu and was charged for the very expensive buffet at 165dkk which was different than what I wanted. I was given a plate for the buffet and saw there was barely anything left and they never refilled the buffet. No cheese, no bread, basically just a couple of boring salads. At least the hummus and dips were good but for the price that was disappointing. I visited on June 14.
Sophie G — Google review
I love this spot in town. The jazzy vibe and colours of the place offer a cosy atmosphere. I tried the gluten free bread and was delicious. Hummus as well 💛 If you are around the area it’s a nice place to stop for a coffee and bite 🍽️💓

We were tired of eating all the fancy food and this was just perfect for us to get back to salads and food that's good for your body. We ate about 8 meals there and we enjoyed them. Yes it does feel like a canteen and not like all the other restaurants and we did feel tempted to go elsewhere. I'm glad we didn't.
Sean D — Google review
Beautiful brunch, and they serve mochas! Yes! The first one I've had since arriving in Denmark. Beautiful establishment inside and out filled with soul. I would always like to visit here when passing through Aarhus.
Jamie B — Google review
I ordered a Chai latte, but you could hardly taste the Chai because it was too Milky. It was frustrating to pay 42 kr. For a bad cup. The atmosphere is nice though, and so I would recommend it for something else than the Chai latte. Not too loud, no background music so it is good for studying
Michela F — Google review
Great coffee, cozy environment, but a rather disappointing vegan/vegetarian brunch buffet. Paying 150 kr. (beverages not included), I had hoped for a greater variety of dishes at the buffet and a more observant staff to refill the empty bowls. The food offered was good - though nothing out of the ordinary. I'd visit again, but only for coffee and a piece of cake.
Daniela B — Google review
I really want to love this place as a vegan but I have been disappointed the five times I’ve been there. The buffet is definitely overpriced. You can get a soup for the size of your fist for almost the same price for the buffet. It’s a bit absurd, even if it’s organic. They have limited choices for their desserts (if they have any). They were selling the same cake for four days (because rarely anyone would eat it) and the cookies are dry and brittle and a joke. Must have stayed in the jars for who knows how long. The drinks are fine but you can also get the same choices for less other places. When did vegan become synonym for unaffordable? The atmosphere is nice and cozy. But the staff are all a bit spacey, not knowing their menu and are rarely at the register to offer help. I even called just to double check their choices and one of them told me that they had raw cakes not realizing that it was clearly the same not raw cake they’ve had for three days. So disappointing. I’d love to support but there isn’t much to support here. I don’t know, free WiFi I guess? Which I can also get at home. Boo.

A fun and relaxed place to enjoy some great craft beers, Mikkeller Bar is well worth a visit in central Aarhus. The bar has around 20 taps with beers from all over the world, starting at around 30 Dkr for a small glass. If you're a beer lover, don't miss out on this local favourite!
Nice craft beer selection, from classics to sour, dark and IPA. Some seating outside, at tables inside and at the bar.

Small, cozy bar with a good selection of craft beers on tap. Only the air is stale and unpleasant...

Very cozy joint to drink beers inside or outside to enjoy the sun when it is out. Of course there are amazing Mikkeller beers, but also many guest ones to try. Was really happy to have a very friendly and helpful server that was nice enough to give us some travel tips!

A nice place to go for a beer. You can seat inside, at the back yard or in front. Great beer selection but only in Danish it would be nice if there is one menu in English too. We didn’t like the no. 10. Friendly staff

Great beers as expected from a Mikkeller bar! Cool staff, and relaxing environment. You can choose to sit by the street, inside the bar, or in the back alley. One of my favourite places in Aarhus!
Daniel G — Google review
Hipster beer bar with a good selection, mostly own label and a few foreign beers on some taps. Their own beer is not the best quality, and it can be a bit loud in the bar
Kasper D — Google review
Surprisenly quiet for a Friday evening at 7PM. You can taste the beers before you order them. I tried the Viking Shake (stout) and a Mead from USA. I went with the mead since that is not common on most menus. I was very pleased with it.

The sandwich was big and good. The coffee was quite bitter. The staff could be a bit friendlier and more efficient. The restaurant was quite dirty (tables and seats were not clean and there was no intention from employes to clean them unless they were specifically asked to do so.) Bathroom was very clean but had too strong a smell of the heavy cleaning utensils.

Great atmosphere and 4 sure great stuff. A lot of options for vegan ppl so for us was a plus. They have a lot of oprions to eat so go for it. Try this amazing place.
Cleriana C — Google review
The atmosphere is wonderful, it's really nice to just sit and look at all of the decorations they have. I liked the pizza a lot, it was and fulfilling, the drinks - a bit overpriced. The service was okay, they forgot to bring us drinks and it was hard to ask a waiter for help since they kept just walking past, but it was a very busy day, so it's understandable, they were nice overall.
Laura G — Google review
The staff is very hostile and unwelcoming. Very dry and boring pizza. Also, the tables are not the most convenient. On the other hand, the fries were okay. Further, the portions are big, hence it is not too expensive, and there is good selection of beer.

The food is delicious, I've had a chicken club sandwich (this time), the avocado was perfect, so was the ruccola, and the chicken had a very nice taste. The place was a bit dirty, so were the tables, even tho it wasn't rush hour and there were not many customers, therefore I gave only 3 stars.
Romina P — Google review
A cozy restaurant, with an interesting look. You do not run out of things to see, surrounding you. Our server was very kind and nice, but we were met with a longer waiting time of 40-50 minutes, probably due to the amount of customers. The pizza no. 13 we ordered, was too much to be handled with bare hands, so we had to ask for cutlery, which was provided by the kind staff. Pizza had a really tough crust, which made the massive topping handling easier, but it was a rock to bite in. Perhaps the saltyness of an age-dried ham not go well with parmesan aswell. The Latte ordered, looked nothing as a latte should do, so that was quite a disappointment. After all, we left the restaurant with a smile, since the staff was nice and friendly.

Bread cost 84 kr. but they brougth it as if it were complementary, we weren’t told about a price. They were just like hey here’s some bread. We get the bill and are like wait we didn’t order this. The food, wine and servers were good though, so it’s a shame this small thing has to taint the expierience.

We went back 5 months later to try out two main course namely steak and fish. When you order a medium rare steak and the quality is such that you can split it with a fork not the knife, you know that you are in for a treat. When the fish have all the salty flavors remaining to complement the vegetables of the meal together with good wine choices recommended by A happy, engaging staff the result is a happy customer😃

We had the Ai Tempura Ebi menu for two people and it was really great! I especially appreciated the avocado on the sushi since many places use them before they are perfectly ripe but honestly even just the rice in them was amazing. We also got some free cooked and salted Edamame beans as a snack while waiting for the sushi! Bonus pic of lemonade with ginger and fresh mint!

Fantastic fine dining at a very reasonable price. I love that the menu changes every day - It adds a bit of excitement! The portions are absolutely perfect and filling. It can be a challenge to get a table - If you can't, I recommend getting your meal as take-away (they package it beautifully!) and take it down to the bispetorvet for a memorable picnic.

-At 20:15 they rejected to make a cheese plate for us (you can see that from the receipt, we then paid and left). -The waiter didn’t seem like enjoying his job. HE NEVER SMILED, and even if not busy he didn’t clean the table where we seated. -At lest the food was great! Also good quality-price ratio. I would not visit again just for the very sad/bad vibe. 😭

Good service - food was so so (good size portions but the dish of the day was interesting and didn’t really work for me). While we were there someone turned up at 7.30pm to be told the kitchen was closed. Signage, website & google say 9pm?!?

Always a good place for a heavy dish of chips n stuff... Their moules fritte is wonderful. Huge portions too and at affordable prices. Quick and easy. Chose and grab your own drinks from the cooler. Student friendly, right in the old town area of the city. Been a while since the last time here, but they kept true to their bistro idea and against change of time. Easy seating, but never loved the high chairs without backs. Kitchy atmosphere and close seating.

We visited OliNico twice, as we were intrigued to try their daily menu. One thing is for certain, this place is busy. We arrived at 7:30pm on the first day and we missed the daily menu, so settled for their classics. This was delicious, but we realised they were in hot demand, so had to come earlier the following day. We managed to get to OliNico by 6pm the following day and were able to enjoy their 3 course daily set menu for only 150dkk (approx £18). The quality was absolutely incredible for the value, and the presentation was sublime. You really need to give this place a try in Aarhus. My tip would be get there early if you want the daily menu!

Beautiful smørrebrød with a good range to choose from. I would also say that the beer is a highlight, and the staff was so helpful in choosing the right ones for us! Definitely delicious, and the place has a lovely atmosphere that combines trendy and rustic. The portion sizes are very good. Wonderful experience. Kuk & Co. delivers. The food is awesome and the service even better. Our sommelier changed out a wine that we didn’t like (purely out of personal preference), with a another of much higher quality (and price) without even a second thought. When I praised her pro attitude, her answer was along these lines “When we show up in the morning our most important concern is that when we close in the evening, we know that every single guest leaves with complete satisfaction.” That attitude shines through from the moment you enter until you leave. I would be surprised if a Michelin star isn’t lurking in a not to distant future. I am already looking forward to our next visit to Århus and Ghrelin.

Beautiful and tasteful lunch -service. Pleasant service, good beer and white wine as recommended. We chose a lunch setting with 4 light dishes that tasted amazing.
Tom M — Google review
My sister and I had invited our mom to Aros. We had booked a table for lunch in the Orangeri. While the atmosphere is very nice, the food is quite bland and ordinary. We ordered the pumpkin soup, which simply tasted of puréed pumpkin, there was no salt, pepper, spice, cream - nothing at alle to "spice" it up. The spinach waffles, were likewise very bland, and tasted of spinach mixed with flour and eggs. Finally, the lunch platter looked very enticing, but likewise lacked flavor, and the ryebread was rather dry. Overall, the food visually very presentable, but as regards taste, it was very bland and not worth the price.

Espresso bar
Stillers Coffee, formerly known as Great Coffee, is a renowned coffee bar located in Aarhus. The establishment, led by award-winning roaster Soren Stiller Markussen, operates as both a roastery and a coffee shop. Nestled in the charming Latin Quarter, the industrial-style interior of the brick building reflects its history as an old chocolate factory. With a focus on quality and care in crafting their delicious specialty coffee, Stillers Coffee offers a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of home.
From other guests we received the suggestion of taking the iced coffee. As a habitual sugared coffee drinker this turned out to be a wonderful treat. With a dash of blueberry cold coffee became an experience.
Martijn V — Google review
Stillers Coffee feels more like a coffee lab than a typical café, with a very limited selection of food and milk-based drinks. It's perfect for coffee connoisseurs who appreciate the craft, though it lacks a cozy vibe. The ice coffee is also tiny for the price. An interesting experience, but not for everyone.
Alexis — Google review
This place is good for coffee enthusiasts. It's a kind of experience, not a cafe. Although the chocolate cookie and Friis-Holm chocolates were perfect, the coffee was too strong for me. Maybe the tables zone could improve to be more cozy. The service was quick, nice, and well presented.
Ayatullah H — Google review
Coffee was v good to my taste. Staff incredibly aloof, blunt, rude. Coffee quality is not worth the BS. We regularly drink very good coffee in places that manage to take the coffee seriously without taking themselves so seriously as these guys
Daniel B — Google review
Coffee Oasis in a backyard of Aarhus. I had an iced coffee with a hint of blueberries, which was velvety soft. Tasted more like chocolate, what I really love. Also fell in love with their ceramics. Don’t miss that experience!
Alice S — Google review
This is really a coffee lab! The iced coffee was fantastic, with homemade sirup. Nice cozy patio and industrial-style interior. We will definitely come back every tome we are in Aarhus! No food, they focus solely on the coffee. 👌
Thomas B — Google review
If you don 't compromise your coffee experience this is the place to go. Revisited september 2025. Stiller is still the place to go. World class.
Søren B — Google review
Probably the best coffee you’ll ever have. First, to set expectations. This is not a cafe, it’s a coffee lab. Pastries are not served, there is no decaf, you will not be asked if you’d like room for milk. Stiller’s Coffee is a coffee connoisseur’s dream, with the most perfectly extracted espresso you can have, a pour over that tastes like liquid gold, and beans roasted daily. You can meet Stiller himself to ask questions, or dive into the more than 30 varieties of coffee roasted here. In short, go if you have a deep respect for coffee. Go if you want to try the best coffee can be. Don’t expect a Starbucks.

Restaurant Marselis, located within the Helnan Marselis Hotel, offers a delectable a la carte menu featuring traditional Danish and international cuisines. The Danish deer with beetroot, blackberries, and wild mushrooms is highly recommended for its perfectly balanced flavors. The restaurant boasts an idyllic setting overlooking the Bay of Aarhus, providing diners with a stunning view of the coastline while they savor their exquisite meals.
(Translated by Google) Attended a silver wedding where the dinner was simply TOP. 👌👌👌 Among other things we got a tournedos, it both tasted good, was tender and large (+250g). Probably the best steak I've ever had 👌👌👌 (Original) Deltog i et sølvbryllup, hvor middagen bare var i TOP. 👌👌👌Bl.a. fik vi en tournedos det både smagte, var mør og stor (+250g). Food and wine is ok given the price level, but service is on the other hand severely lacking. The waiters seem to check on the guests about once every 45 minutes. What they do in the meanwhile is up to the imagination. It wasn't a busy night at all. Impolite and lazy, sorry to say.

(Translated by Google) On a pleasant evening, many could tell that the kitchen was busy One could perhaps with advantages remove the twitch muscle, the fatty part, the dark part. It doesn't taste very good together, a little better for sauteing the salad. At Hantwerk, you can enjoy a range of beers and tapas-sized portions. The brewery is located on the canal right by the water, with plenty of outdoor seating, warm incandescent lights, and lots of cozy blankets for chilly weather. They have a good selection of beers on tap, as well as small tapas-sized portions suitable for sharing with friends.
We tried this place for lunch and it was very good. They have inside and outside terrace to eat or drink. For lunch we tried the fish tapas and the plate with 3 smørebrød. One with duck confit, another with fried fish and the last one with brie cheese. They offer a nice selection of product and of course it follow the same path with beers. They have a super good selection 🍻. So to conclude I really recommend this friendly place you won't regret it.

Hi, I'm an Italian girl and last night, August 16, 2025, I was in Aarhus visiting the city and I heard a band playing at your club. A guy even proposed to his girlfriend. I'd love to know the name of the band that played. I fell in love with their music! Thanks!

The tartar was good, as was the beer. Service is not that great. Don't expect table service here, order at bar. It's a bar with food more than a restaurant in my opinion. But it all worked out great so recommend.

JUST AWESOME The food, the beer, the people I had a small pb and the manager was super helpful, thanks again (I think her name was Ester) 🙏

Visited this place in July 2020. I must say that there a wide selection of microbrews with a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. Apart from home beers there some of the food or cuisines that are available Bryggerier. This is a bit rough atmosphere though but nice combined with high level beer and wine selection. The place is in a nice location located at water front and its about 20 minutes walk distance from the main city center. This place is quiet popular usually there lots of people specially after office hours.

Unfortunately, the worst steak ever - served cold and completely rare. The service is also bad and won’t take off the dishes from the first serving. if you want to have water, you need to pick it up yourself. Only the beers are good.

Danish restaurant
Restaurant Pinden is a cozy spot that offers hearty and traditional Danish cuisine, featuring dishes like scrumptious pork loin with potatoes and parsley sauce. The menu is comprehensive yet concise, and the ambience is laid-back. Guests can enjoy incredible value for their meals, whether it's lunch or dinner. On Saturdays, there's the option to indulge in a truly Danish buffet. The rustic atmosphere adds to the charm of this place, where you can experience authentic Danish food.
The waitress was very welcoming and helpful, and the dishes were served pretty quickly. The food itself was fairly simple albeit of good quality; I loved the meatballs especially. The liquorice liquor is also very much recommended. Overall, the place has a nice traditional/classic vibe, neat and classy. The choice of background music also adds a lot to the experience: they mostly play old traditional pop and salon jazz here. Great!

I went to the restaurant at 18:50h. When I asked if I could had dinner by myself, they told me that was not possible because at 19:00h they were fully booked. Of course, when I pass in front of the door at 19:15h the restaurant was still empty. And the waiters were just talking at the bar. Really 'good' service.

The restaurant's prime location in the marina provides a picturesque setting for enjoying high-quality cuisine prepared with care by friendly staff. Nice place to see how Danish people get off the harbor and navigate in the sea. Good kitchen and friendly personnel. Lucky to have fish in the sea restaurant.

I have been here twice now, for Christmas parties, and both times the food was mediocre at best. I do not tolerate pieces of bone in my medisterpølse, and I have never had a worse risalamande in my life. If you look past the food, it's a great restaurant, both in location and atmosphere.

Chocolate shop
Social Foodies is a local favorite for its delicious ice cream and chocolates. It's also involved in a number of socially minded programs in Africa, which has earned it local acclaim. The ice cream shop is located in Aarhus, and you can learn more about the shop's history and the various flavors of ice cream while you're there.
Conscious chocolate, amazing ice-cream and confectionery, coffee and a small bakery. Also a few delicious vegan ice-creams (sometimes chocolate!!! So good), and chocolate filled gluten free cones. Also the traditional danish flødebolle on a marzipan base (no milk and no wheat, trace amounts of gluten). Gf rolls are available too. Notice the opening hours are great for a late snack.
L H — Google review
Very nice staff and food. However, the flødeboller kursus was a bit too short for the price and we were quite cramped into the warm kitchen.
Nadine K — Google review
My girlfriend and I would regularly buy ice cream from here for the past 2 years. We always go for the pistachio ice cream and it’s sad to see how inconsistent they are with the taste. Also every time we get an ice cream we ask for guf on top of the cone and they are usually pretty generous. Last time however, this older guy served us and has put maybe 50-60% of guf from what we are used to getting. When we asked for a little more the grumpy old man gave us an ironic smile followed by ‘haha nej’. Simply not the way you respond to customers when they ask for something. I’m sorry to say but now when we want ice cream social foodies is not even on our list!
Adrian B — Google review
The after taste from the chocolate ice-cream is unpleasant and their salt caramel ice-cream doesn't taste of much more than vanilla. The waffle with chocolate was one of the most boring tasting ones I've had. The taste of the "guf" was good but the texture and quantity wasn't the best

Right by Aarhus Å. Probably best known for being a high end night club, but they serve as a restaurant as well. Not expensive considering the location and the quality of the food and service. Well worth a visit and I will surely come again.
