Coffee shop

La Cabra is a popular bakery located in the charming Latin Quarter of Aarhus. Known for its sourdough bread and exceptional coffee, this cozy spot attracts both locals and tourists. The minimalist interior exudes luxury, while outside seating offers a chance to soak up the quaint atmosphere of Graven while savoring a slice of sourdough bread with Gammel Knas and enjoying one of the city's finest cups of coffee.
Simply the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’m a huge coffee fan and have tried coffee all over the world, but nothing compares to La Cabra. I’ve been following them for years, so visiting their shop in Aarhus — their birthplace — was a special experience. The coffee was exceptional. The music was at the perfect volume, the aesthetics of the space were beautiful, and the staff were professional and genuinely attentive. My girlfriend, who loves coffee even more than I do, even got emotional. That says it all. A must-visit for any true coffee lover.
Jeremias P — Google review
Very friendly staff, they spoke multiple languages which is helpful if a tourist. Cappuccino and almond croissant were excellent! Atmosphere is relaxing, very zen with a beautiful view of the cobblestone street and Bishop Square steeple!
McKenzie S — Google review
Simply delicious! The food was so tasty and the coffee good. Very casual and relaxed atmosphere and the staff friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a breakfast spot or cafe in Aarhus.
Ben S — Google review
Very nice coffee or lunch stop when visiting Aarhus! Really yummy coffee, sandwiches, and pastries! The place might seem busy from outside, but we found plenty of seating inside. With two we ordered an iced latte, a cardemon iced latte, two sandwiches with cheese, and one seasonal pastry to share. All came to our table really quickly after ordering. Delicious!
Felix H — Google review
I walked in and was met with a relaxing atmosphere. Once I ordered the wait was a bit longer than what I'm used to at other coffee shops. But the wait was worth it. It's got to be one of, if not the best coffee I've ever had. The music is relaxing and the staff are really kind. Would recommend 👍
Audun M — Google review
The cinnamon roll is really tasty, full of flavor A bit expensive: 37 dkk The atmosphere is really good, they only have power sockets upstairs and no wifi unfortunately
Ceylin Ç — Google review
Awesome tea (green sencha tea) and buns (I think it was called kardemommesnurre, see photo)! I ordered at the counter, and they prepared the tea and brought everything to my table. The bun was delicious, soft, freshly made, tasty, moist, everything was perfect. The tea was wonderful, it tasted exactly like I would expect expertly-made high-quality sencha tea taste like; plenty of flavor and not at all bitter. Nice lively neighborhood, lots of people on the street, but the cafe was nevertheless not fully packed, it was easy to find a place to sit and everything was smooth and quick and very friendly.

Nestled on the edge of Marselisborg Forest, Varna Palæet is a stunning venue that offers an exquisite brunch experience in a picturesque setting. This historic palace boasts an extravagant buffet featuring both cold and warm dishes, including breakfast classics and delightful lunch specialties like frikadeller and ratatouille. Ideal for a romantic date or special occasion, Varna Palæet also provides breathtaking views over the Bay of Aarhus, making it one of the most enchanting wedding venues around.
Came here for a wedding. The views were amazing, the staff were helpful, and the food was incredible! Had a four course meal here for a friend's wedding, we hasn't seen the menu previously, but we shouldn't have worried. The food was incredible, every plate, even the canapés. Different wine with every dish, and was introduced by our chief waiter each time. My vegan friend was catered for, having dishes that looked very much like the others, having it's own twist on the meal.
Becky A — Google review
This review is specifically for the Sunday Brunch. The environment and outdoors of Varna are beautiful. However, the interior lacks the charm you’d expect compared to the exterior. The food quality is decent but not particularly extraordinary. Given the high price of 450 kr. per person, I had higher expectations. A Caffé Latte or an additional glass of juice shouldn’t come with an extra charge. And a glass of Mimosa should be expected.
Alexis — Google review
The most beautiful wedding venue I have been to as a guest. Placed in the woods above the infinity bridge, it lends the most serene views over the Bay of Aarhus. At night it is just like something out of fairy tale.
Terese C — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! The service is absolutely on top and the food and wine are divine. Such value from money, what definitely come again!

Just had the most wonderful Easter brunch well worth the visit 5/5 and if the waiter Patrick reads this you are a star.

Probably living more off their reputation than their quality. Food and service was pretty mediocre. Won't discourage people from going there—it's a beautiful place—but don't get your expectations up too high.

Nice place! Wide and open space interior. Brunch was so tasty, good portion, nice dish presentation, Well-prepared food. I could say I will back for having brunch here again, because it was sooooooo goooooood.👍🏻✨ However, it would be good also if the bread will served as warm. ☺️ Anyway overall is PERFECT! I love it!

Went for Dinnerdays. The food was tasty. The menu was not exactly how we expected/stated via the booking portal, which should have been presented by the staff. However, all-in-all we had a fine experience. The main course was sharing food and not individual plate as described on Dinnerdays.

Love their August menu opportions - I've had the shrimps and moules. The concept is all you can eat and drink for 200-250 kr for 1,5 hour. Both times I've been it's been good quality and space is amazing. Very recommendable.
Anne S — Google review
Nice brunch. good quality and variety. Just enough to get very full. Friendly service.
Anders J — Google review
Amazing all the way! Ultra crowded place especially for their fresh and tasty( and super cheap) breakfast. We paid 20dkk per adult and 0dkk for my 2 year old for their breakfast buffet. As I understand they are having monthly promotions on different meals and we were lucky enough to catch the super cheap breakfast. If you are vegan, on a diet, have a lot of allergies or require halal, kosher, etc - this is not your place. The buffet is simple - Danish lever pâté, bacon, brie cheese and another kind of Danish cheese, white freshly baked bread and Danish rye bread with lots of seeds, 3 different kinds of Danish jams, thick plain yoghurt, 3 different kinds of salami. And that's it. Butter too. If you want to have a coffee/water/juice - it cost extra. It actually costs more than the buffet itself :) overall- my cheapest outing in Denmark. And I've lived in the country for 8 years before relocating.
Lora O — Google review
3 adults eating brunch on a Sunday. 155kr pr person, drinks not included. The table was reserved for us, and was ready and clean on arrival. The only real option on the menu was the continental brunch, so ordering was quick and easy. You can't get sweetener for your coffee there and the waitress acted as if I've just ordered ketchup for sushi. The waitress never came back to check on us. It is not an open buffet, the food is served to the table and then shared. The food was very standard. The portions were disappointingly small. One hungry man could have easily eaten alone everything we got served for 3 people. I didn't really get the feeling of eating scrambled eggs and sausage, I only tasted them. The place was packed and noisy! Its cozy and kids friendly which is great for families, I was there unfortunately with the wrong company and attempting a conversation in low tones was futile. 3 stars because it was clean and the building is interesting, they have different exhibitions on display.
Alon B — Google review
One of the best places I have ever been. The dishes were original but with traditional ingredients (don't forget organic, local etc etc). That night there was only one menu with fixed courses, but they were exquisite. The waiter forgot for something like 10 minutes my beer and when I remembered him he was so embarrassed that I didn't have to pay for it. I felt very welcomed and I will come back the next time I'm in Aarhus.
Pierpaolo S — Google review
It’s a fun place with great theme nights. You can try different types of food on different week nights. The all you can eat (and drink) is a good deal for sure 😊 We visited one of the Mexican nights - the food was fine, probably 3,5 out of 5. The food wasn’t very vegetarian friendly. I still managed to get full anyway. The wine and cocktails were good. I’ll come again.

Busy place with a relaxed atmosphere, people hanging reading books and chatting, the staff are delightful and helpful nothing is to much . The menu is what you expect and more from a good coffee shop.

I like the way Espresso House always delivers a nice product. Their lattè in house is way better than other coffee shops. But what makes this location “Rock” was the great service of Essa. Who worked incredibly hard. Both Saturday and Sunday she did a fantastic job!

I ordered a double espresso specifying that I wanted it very low in the cup, to the girl and I even showed the level with my finger. She made me a long coffee, I said it wasn't what I asked for, praying to make another one, half the dose of the one she served me, she made another one but still nothing, my instructions for the girl were evidently not worthy of consideration. I gave up the coffee which cost me 36 Danish crowns, €4.82 and left this place run by inexperienced people completely unaware of what it means to be at the customer's service. Completely dissatisfied!

Nice location and size of the café. Definity Worth a visit for a quick break or pastry. Prices are ok but the interior looks a bit worn out and could use a refresh. Food and coffee is excellent as you expect from Emmerys.

Coming from another country I really have to get used to Danish service in restaurants because it is generally poor. OK, so I was meeting up with 2 friends and we wanted to sit outside. Before that we were waiting 15 minutes in line, because the 3 ladies were very slow. I don't mind that part as much, but then I ordered a chicken sandwich and 2 coffees and was told to wait 10 mins for my sandwich. After 10(!) Minutes I got my 2 coffees, so we are 25 minutes further at this point. I brought my coffee outside to my friend and drank my coffee inside waiting for my sandwich. Again another 10(!) Minutes went by so after a total of 35 mins I asked where my sandwich was. "Sorry sir..we will start making it right away" - yep, they forgot and didn't even notice or wondered why I kept standing there. I got pissed and said: "ok, I'm outside!" I went to sit with my friends finally as 35 minutes had gone by. After ANOTHER 15mins I went inside again and my sandwich was just standing there and waiting. The least you guys could've done was bring it to me outside as I was clearly unhappy. After 50 minutes I finally had my sandwich. Sorry, I don't complain quickly, but this was just...well, let's say I'll never come.again.

The rye bread is vegan, made with sourdough, very flavorful and just the right balance of soft and chewy. The café itself is quite loud, but I could imagine sitting outside in the summer time might be very nice.

Jumbo Bakery has gained extreme popularity with its small harbor bakery in Aarhus, leading to the opening of a new branch on Ankersgade. The bakery is renowned for its love of the craft and expertise in sourdough baking, producing bread and pastries that are heavenly. Visitors can indulge in mouthwatering baked goods and enjoy freshly brewed coffee made from locally roasted quality beans.
I have already been here twice and can vouch for their generous portions and great coffee! If you are missing French croissants, this is the place to get your fix! I tried their sesame bun, butter, cheese, and jam and everything was delicious. The outdoor seating area is perfect for a sunny day and has great view of the docks. The service is friendly and I am sure I will end up going there again

Stylish but a bit industrial inside. More dark then complex coffee roast.. A matter of taste. Laptop friendly and good for ‚business meetings‘. Overall Good coffee in a more industrial (harbour) area.

Café Mellemfolk is a popular spot in Aarhus, known for its warm and vibrant atmosphere, diverse drink options, and light snacks. It's a favorite among students who often bring their laptops to work there. The cafe offers delicious paninis and vegan options, all run by volunteers. The thrifted furniture adds to the homey feel of the place.
Great place to hang out, volunteer or spend time with friends! Lots of things happening here, don't miss the opportunity to come. Plus the food is always great, would really recommend global kitchen days. The only thing is that it's a pity they don't include more gluten free options.
Maria E — Google review
What a great place with delicious food, nice people, cozy atmosphere. The food is vegan, amazing! It feels like at home. The only thing I would improve is dinner menu, food there is quite heavy for evening (oil, fat, unhealthy), I would add at least something light and healthy. I also liked they are involved to activism and looking for volunteers, I want to support places like this.
Polina L — Google review
Ordered the Flat White and Hot Chocolate, each with oat milk. It was quite disappointing overall, since the coffee seemed quite burnt and the hot chocolate lacked the cocoa flavor. The staff was very cordial and the vibes in-house were quite enjoyable and nice, for they deserve an extra star.
Sidhant C — Google review
Extremely cozy cafe, perfect for knitting, working or just hanging out with friends, as there are plenty of board games. Food is great, vegan-friendly, delicious even for carnivores. Coffee is also amazing, but drinks are unfortunately not always so good. I love that the water is always available, and everyone can take as much water as they need. Cafe is run by volunteers, serves as an amazing place to seek community - there are many events happening and groups, to which you can sign up.

Such a cozy and chilled spot to have a coffee or a glass of wine. It's tucked away and has a really good energy and vibe. I saw they had a book club meeting and there's also a piano, just not sure if it's ever being played. Really recommend when in town 👌

Great vegan Burger and Polenta Fries. The oatmilk in the Cappuccino was too sweet for my taste. The Cinnamon Bun could have been softer. Nice atmosphere.

Super cozy place! Went with a group of friends and we played board games from the common board game shelf :) They all got coffees which they said were pretty average while I got a “matcha latte”. Wouldn’t really call that matcha myself, but then again it’s not a speciality matcha place. But I’d still say it was far below average, it was a very pale yellow color and only tasted of oat milk- would not recommend that one. Didn’t have food so can’t speak for that.

DavidBreadHead Bakery, located in Aarhus, is a hidden gem known for its delectable pastries and aromatic coffee. The bakery is the brainchild of 25-year-old David Milberg, who has made a name for himself in the Danish sourdough scene. Despite its small size, this micro-bakery has garnered praise as one of the best in not just Aarhus but all of Denmark.
The best bakery in Aarhus. Every single baked good is incredible (I love the monkey bread and cardamom knots, in particular). Delicious coffee and good service. Fab.

One of the better bakeries in Aarhus, however the shop is tiny and mainly designed for takeaway. Prices feel a bit high given the lack of seating and the coffee is pretty mediocre. The quality of the pastries is quite uneven; some are excellent, while others are pretty average. Later in the day, some offerings can be a bit stale, likely from a morning batch.

Cozy little bakery. Wide variety of pastry and cold drinks. The place is tiny but there is a bench outside as well. The pastry was super good and had many to choose from even at the end of a day.

Enjoyed the Danish pastries and aromatic cuppa coffee. They won some award recently as well, really nice place for breakfast especially since I was staying at the hostel a few minutes walking distance away

I literally loved this place! So delicious, cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. I’ve got 2 pastries but did not even make it on time to take a picture of the first one as it was too good! Please go there if you have the chance! You won’t regret it!

Amazing baked goods, bread and delicious coffee - the croissant was to die for and the team was super lovely! Definitely recommend a visit at one of the locations.

Cute hole in the wall bakery with good selection of pastries and good coffee, all reasonably priced as well. Very friendly staff, would visit again!

Little gem in Aarhus! I’ve been wanting to try this coffee for a long time and today was the day. Super nice cortado and cappuccino (with oat milk) and the pastries where amazing! The guy was really sweet and he explained every pastry 😋 We sat outside (they have two tables to eat in the terrace). There is not a lot of place inside to eat. It tasted so good that I forgot to take picture beforehand 😅

(Translated by Google) We held our son's confirmation at the restaurant and had a menu put together with inspiration from Asian cuisine – exactly according to his wishes. The combination of table service and buffet worked really well, and we had purchased drinks ad libitum which turned out to be some really good wines and bubbles as well as a wide range of sodas. On the day itself, everything was executed to UG+, and the food was top notch – really tasty and beautifully presented. The service was also excellent. The staff were attentive and flexible and helped adjust the schedule along the way, so that everything ran smoothly. Our son had a fantastic day, and we have only received positive feedback from the guests – both on the food and the beautiful premises. We can highly recommend the restaurant!

(Translated by Google) You can get an ok and cheap dish of the day. There is also an a la carte menu, which is fine but on the more expensive side as cafes tend to be. (Original) Man kan få en ok og billig dagens ret. Der er også en a la carte menu, som er fint men inden dyrere ende som caféer plejer at være.
